- 1:37the blog and the Kindle store and you can try that out for free for
- 1:41two weeks. Well, today we're going to bring you a series called Homicide
- 1:45Okaine. And I'll be honest that I do not know a whole lot about
- 1:49it, But then again, nobody does. A series aired during the war,
- 1:55and it aired over the Blue Network. As we've discussed a few times,
- 1:59ABE, which was what the Blue Network become became was not the most
- 2:06power pact of networks in terms of talent. This is an unusual series.
- 2:10It stars Johnny Easton, but from the best we can tell, that appears
- 2:15to be Bud Heaston, who was a longtime radio announcer on a variety of
- 2:22programs including the Adventures of Maizie Cinnamon Bear and of course let George do it.
- 2:29There's only one circulating episode, and so let me go ahead and I
- 2:34will read you the title of today's show from Mark Second, nineteen forty three.
- 2:38It's the story of the killer who returned from the dead as the clock
- 2:44struck the hour. So here now is the story of the killer who returned
- 2:46from the dead as the clock struck the tower. From Hollywood Homicide, Okain,
- 3:04Homicide Okain. Listen carefully, I'm dying that You've got to know this.
- 3:12When you catch him, you find blood on the money, That's how
- 3:17you can prove that he killed me. That's how you know it was.
- 3:24That's how you know, when a thief kills for money, several things can
- 3:31happen. He can be caught and arrested and pay for his crime, or
- 3:36he can vanish for a time with his ill gotten gains. Or and this
- 3:39you may have trouble believing he can come back from the dead when the clock
- 3:44strikes twelve. I'll that last sounds a little screwy, I know, but
- 3:47ask the men down at headquarters, Ask the boys on my homicide squad,
- 3:52ask Cocaine about the killer who returned at midnight as the clock struck the hour.
- 4:02I'm a side of Kaine. We are still try the part. Well,
- 4:09do a little better than just try, sister. It shouldn't be too
- 4:12difficult to trace that call. Oh trace call? Okay, Well just a
- 4:15second, lieutenant, Look, babe, yes, take your cue from the
- 4:19fact that you're talking to the police and that the guy who phoned in had
- 4:23all the symptoms of a man being murdered. He didn't hang up, so
- 4:26the line's still open. Now you go on from there. One moment,
- 4:30one moment, Oh fine, well this is taking up okay, yes,
- 4:33lieutenant, trying to trace a call, eh, yes, lieutenant from a
- 4:36guy who had all the symptoms of being murdered. Yeah, interesting, yes,
- 4:41lieutenant, Yes, lieutenant, is not all you can say out of
- 4:44monophoness. I'd say it's a manner, litt kiddy, got your tongue?
- 4:47Or is this a private murderer? I shouldn't intrude. It's just that I
- 4:50haven't had time yet to draw your map, lieutenant, so you'd understand.
- 4:55But in nice easy words of assorted syllables. I just had a phone call,
- 4:59who I'll joy, I don't know it from a guy who said he
- 5:02was dying and he didn't sound like he was getting fine. He also said
- 5:06we could prove who killed him by the blood on the money, because it'll
- 5:11be his blood. Isn't that a big help? Do you suppose to go
- 5:14on? And then and then the guy was dying? Lieutenant? That's all?
- 5:18Yes? One minute? Pay well, gee, I'm pretty grateful.
- 5:24Grandma, Oh nothing, it's Dandy's standy. You said it blood on the
- 5:30money, Oh, my brother. Operator, don't give me that operator routine,
- 5:33sweetheart. Just scurry around and find where that call came from. That's
- 5:38all I asked. Believe me, the supervisor, exchange report your phone air
- 5:45two three six nine that I can believe. Look right the address, could
- 5:53you buy any slight mishap? Managed to secure that? And sub scrubber is
- 5:57listed as Oh that's different, that's different address. It's three five three Well,
- 6:04gee, good for you and loving kisses. Good night, little peal
- 6:09three three five South Thurman the Rigor Gorman Brokerage Company. Is this where our
- 6:14cheer madly? This is, lieutenant, where you can go for a little
- 6:17spin through the city at night. Would you like that? I bet?
- 6:20What's the inducement? Inducement? Well, playing hard to get. When you're
- 6:26a lieutenant, you can be choosy. That's right. Well the inducement,
- 6:29Lieutenant, is at the end of the ride, a dead man and stuff.
- 6:31Pretty gruesome, no doubt to see. It's nice. If you think
- 6:34so, you have deplorable taste. Look, Lieutenant House for coming along and
- 6:39joining me in a nice long shudder. Three Garman Brokerage Company. The sign
- 6:51that says, all right, where's the nice long shudder you promised? Okain,
- 6:56Yes, dark in there, no watchman undo? You apparently try the
- 7:00door always the realist, lieutenant, Well, well what do you know that?
- 7:05Luck? All right, lieutenant? What's all right about a door?
- 7:10Let's not a lot. But we can go through and edit the darkness,
- 7:14you know, in search of death. Well, where's the body? You
- 7:30just can't wait, can you? Lieutenant? You morbid or more? Butid
- 7:33you? I'm not at all fond of wild goose chasers. Only we're not
- 7:36chasing a wild goose, Lieutenant. Remember, it's a dead man we're after.
- 7:42How about this office here? All right? How about it? Let's
- 7:45ask go in and find out. That's logical, isn't it. The guy
- 7:48who had all the symptoms of being murdered didn't phone me from in here?
- 7:51Then I'll admit we've gone a bit of a blank sew your flashlight being more
- 7:56there by that desk? Look yike, pretty you think so? Really?
- 8:01He should be a switch on the wall somewhere near this jar. Yeah,
- 8:05it's better. I prefer a bright light in the presence of death, don't
- 8:09you. Spawled forward on his desk, the top of his head, the
- 8:13telephone receiver off beside his right hand or fell, and his grip relaxed.
- 8:18I think that we found him, all right, the man who phoned them
- 8:22to save he's dying. He wasn't exaggerating. Yeah, wait a minute,
- 8:26either, The man who's dead or he's not dead? Okay, and make
- 8:28up your mind. I'm trying to whoever did this job really meant it?
- 8:31I think amazing. I think you might see if that phone is still working,
- 8:35lieutenant and put in a call for an ambulance and he's not telling him
- 8:37to step on it. This is one time when the boys have a real
- 8:39excuse to roll. Okay on, Kenny, All right, oh man,
- 8:43make you a touch more comfortable, you know we start him more bleeding.
- 8:48And turn your head. Christian, it's a brother. Hello, emergency hospital,
- 8:54Lieutenant William's homicide. Take an easy, family, I know it's that
- 8:56much. We'll get you picked up in the human want here and the little
- 9:01past. That's all. Let's just get you straightened around a little more so
- 9:05you'll rest easy. Oh fine, pretty bad, lieutenant. Did you get
- 9:09an emergency sending an ambulance? But I'm wondering if it won't be where you
- 9:11can wonder from me too. Look, it's not take an ead path.
- 9:18You're police. We'll police. We got your call. But never mind trying
- 9:22to talk. Save that for later, chump. You got to know you
- 9:26better stave your strength. Gorman, your garment. But let's not worry about
- 9:31that at the moment. Gorman. That's one of the names on the outer
- 9:33door, William Old Gorman, one of the owners of Rigo Garman. What's
- 9:39it regor? The other name on the outer door, Rodney Rigor. That's
- 9:43my pardner. Yeah, we know he did it fine, nice partner.
- 9:50His eyes are opening reg better. If you don't try to talk, take
- 9:56it, you can prove it. But the blood on the money, my
- 10:03bloody hey, hey, now, look, don't try to get up.
- 10:09You're pretty badly hurt. Cue me for the money. He looks pretty bad.
- 10:16Okay, yeah, it doesn't look good seeing Pulse is trapped off.
- 10:24What's holding him up? Twenty five thousand dollars? Pulse is gone. Cute.
- 10:37It's a nice, jolly sort of partner to have. That's Rodney Rigger.
- 10:41Feeling a little better now, friend, he's feeling a lot better.
- 10:46Doesn't bother him now passed out, not out, but on. I guess
- 10:52you better get on that phone again, lieutenant, and cancel that call for
- 10:56an ambulance. Canceled. Why ambulances are only for the living. You better
- 11:01put in a call for the car in a service car instead. Better keep
- 11:16leaning on that doorbell button. Okay, I think that'll do it, Lieutenant,
- 11:20even at a quarter past eleven. After all, we're not trying to
- 11:22awaken the dead. There'll be cryptic, Lieutenant on you. It doesn't look
- 11:28good. You've already seen an example of Rodney Rigger's work tonight. But he
- 11:31did to his partner. He's also been doing a little homework in there too,
- 11:35always expecting to find bodies. You're cruiesome, Lieutenant, utterly getting results
- 11:41at last, Rigor. Somebody's awakened there. Yeah, I just came on
- 11:43the hall. I think I heard give him a bill again? What is
- 11:46this? Patients? Aren't you? Yes? Why somebody come to the door
- 11:50at last? So you can let that high blood pressure simmer down from a
- 11:54neat fore f listen about time? Watch it? Well, okay, take
- 12:01it easy. Wait a minute. You can't come in here, I said,
- 12:03sorry, but we can and have happened. We, Lieutenant, will
- 12:07cut the clowning. Okay, in the close our door and we go throwing
- 12:09our rank around. Yes, sir, who are you headquarters? My badge?
- 12:16Oh? Plase? Yes, police, what do you want? I'll
- 12:20ask things? You answer? Who are you? Missus? Martin? Of
- 12:24course, I tell us everything, add a little more. I'm mister Rigor's
- 12:30housekeeper. Well they're grim bozo this guy. Reason must be he doesn't miss
- 12:35anywhere. All right? Where is Riga Reesa whatever his name is? We
- 12:37want a few words with a gentleman. You'll wait here. I think we'll
- 12:41go wait here. Go on, but tell Rigger enough to keep us waiting,
- 12:45all right, And you've got the equipment to do it too, haven't
- 12:48you. Baby. I need to tell him that too. If he doesn't
- 12:52know it yet, there's no use a little speech. Cinderella, the coachman
- 12:54awaits a large, fat, gray wrath, wasn't he? And to think
- 13:01of it, he was, wasn't he? He will quote fairy tales.
- 13:03Okay, yeah, but that doesn't explain why we're standing here with our feet
- 13:07in our mouth. While hatchet Face goes to give Riga the hot tip he
- 13:09needs, a potter, Eddie in gen will be around the back of the
- 13:13house by now. No one's going to get very far in the meantime to
- 13:16straighten things out in my mind. Oh, come now, lieutenant, to
- 13:18make sure who's who in this deal. I'm giving him a chance to make
- 13:22the first place, and quite generous of you too, I'm sure, and
- 13:24it reminds me I should have tucked an extra handful of thirty eight caliber police
- 13:26Specials in my pocket if i'd only known. If you're a generous impulse right,
- 13:31all right, be very funny, Okay, I don't think I was
- 13:33kidding. Quiet sort of place, isn't it. It's a proverbial tomb.
- 13:37The stump has all the earmarks. You might recall what I said about waking
- 13:41the dead could be oh, poisoning petticoats and riga too. For that matter,
- 13:45you're taking that time about making that play you so generously offered him.
- 13:48Well, I was thinking myself, and even Lieutenant can fall in his face.
- 13:52What are we doing? Now? Take big black duns in hand and
- 13:54go for a walk through this sepulcher. Open that front door, step out
- 13:58and ring the bell again? Are you kidding? Do what? I'll just
- 14:00open the door and reach for that bell. But maybe someday, when we
- 14:03really get to be policeman, I beg your pather, Huh did you ring?
- 14:07Which crack? Did you pop out for? No? I didn't ring,
- 14:11But I was just about to silly of me, wasn't it. I
- 14:13distinctly heard the door bell a few minutes ago. Unfortunately I couldn't come at
- 14:18once a few minutes ago. Yeah, we did the ring. Then would
- 14:22you mind telling me who you are and how you got into the house.
- 14:24We're police, little pal, and Missus Martin let us in. Missus Martin
- 14:30Rigo's housekeeper. I beg your pa, Missus Martin, Rigger's housekeeper. She
- 14:33let us in and went to tell Riga we're here. Oh, how very
- 14:35strange is it. It's because there is no Missus Martin. The name is
- 14:39quite unfamiliar. In fact, I've never heard of it. Now. Look,
- 14:43little man, no one has ever lived here, you see, except
- 14:46for the master, mister Rigo. Oh yes, of course, I mean.
- 14:48Well, who are you? If you please? I am Parks.
- 14:52Oh I see butler in house man and all that. I take it out
- 14:56double as a spook after doc huh, Well, Parace, let's put the
- 14:58social small dog aside and get to the point. We want to see your
- 15:01master right now, and we'll settle a Missus Martin matter later. Oh.
- 15:03I'm afraid you can't see you, mister, but if I, if I
- 15:07may say so, I'm very glad to see you Now what kind of a
- 15:11line is that line? Sat? What do you mean you're glad to see
- 15:13it? Are you kidding? Oh? That? Yes, God, yes,
- 15:16you see. I was just about the phone for the police set.
- 15:18Oh wait a minute, what kind of a GAG's going up? Trying to
- 15:20cover a getaway at temp by your boss? Get we want in for murder?
- 15:24Don't give us that just about for phone for the police stuff. Oh
- 15:26oh, I see? Well then well then what perhaps you understand better if
- 15:31you just step this way into the master's study. Whether it happens, is
- 15:39just this very in here, gentlemen, if you look at the rug there
- 15:58about the desk, you see, oh fie, nice big pool of blood
- 16:06soaking into the very nice road. Well, what do you know? The
- 16:08scene has been set for the exit of Rodney riger. We make like the
- 16:11guy's been murdered. Something new has been added. I never mind that,
- 16:15where's riga? I don't know where that blood come from. I don't know.
- 16:21I think you better scratch your memory, little friend, and start in
- 16:23to know something. Believe me, is very much a skew. You check
- 16:26with me, Luken from my money, this ale setup smells of the skies.
- 16:30We come here to pick up Rigo for killing his partner. Missus Martin,
- 16:34who says she's the housekeeper, lets us in and disappears, And our
- 16:38ghostly little pal here creeps out from behind them up board and says he's the
- 16:41butler, and that there is no Missus Martin. And then we're brought here
- 16:45to gaze upon a shiny new pool of blood about which nothing is known.
- 16:49Parks, Oh, yes, sir, look at me, Parks, I
- 16:52am look into my eyes a little man, and read what they promise.
- 16:57And then, having done that, start in to talk. Oh fuck,
- 17:02yes, first place, whose blood is that on the floor? Well,
- 17:07now it could be the Master? I see it could be the masters.
- 17:11What's the matter? Don't you like to look at it? Why do you
- 17:12keep turning away? Look for talking? Oh well, now what do you
- 17:15know about that blood? The master? Rigor? Yes, sir, the
- 17:21Master retired to his study here this evening. That turned his usual custom to
- 17:25read well. A few moments ago at Eleven's he always does, he rang
- 17:30for me. He likes a little refreshment, you know, buits a cup
- 17:33of coffee, keep on talking. I had his tray already prepared, sir,
- 17:37so when he rang I brought it in at once, but when I
- 17:41entered the study, well he wasn't here, sir. There was no one
- 17:45here, nothing but that blood on the rug. You search the house,
- 17:52Oh, yes, sir, at once. But mister Rigo apparently has vanished.
- 17:56Wonderful, mister Rigor apparently has vanished just when he was about to be
- 18:00a rusted for murder. That's fine, I heard some wonderful there is not
- 18:03gone, but never wanted quite like this. It has got its snack que
- 18:07a man rings for his butler, suddenly leaves all over the place, and
- 18:11boom he is gone, just like in a story voice in real life.
- 18:14Simply amazing Springlet fine the phrase look farks the old boy. I'm That's what
- 18:19I know is yes, it is, but it isn't enough. Well,
- 18:22I know, I know. I'm very sorry, and of course that helps,
- 18:26yes, doesn't it? Where I what's just on the floor by the
- 18:29end of the desk, empty briefcase regard. Oh, I hardly think I've
- 18:34never seen it before. Michels and Ghouls, stanmped on the flap W lg
- 18:40Hey William L. Gorman, Riger's partner. Anything in the lieutenant, the
- 18:42strips of paper sought the banks fashing around by it one. I'm not going
- 18:48this one. There's another another. Keep on looking, Lieutenant, and you'll
- 18:52probably find enough to total twenty five thousand for which Rigor killed his partner tonight.
- 18:57What's the matter part surprise, that's right, twenty five thousand real fault
- 19:03money that he took from his partner after a nice choice for the murder twenty
- 19:06five grand Parksy, huh. Nice men have killed for less or gotten themselves
- 19:11killed if you know what I mean, yes, or in order to acquire
- 19:15which have doped out a smart way to van Then I presume this means you're
- 19:18going to arrest me, arrest you? Why should I arrest you? Parks?
- 19:23You name the charge of murdering mister Rico for the money you say he
- 19:26stole, mister Gormets Knight. That is what you meant, isn't it.
- 19:30We'll talk about murder when we got a body to prove it. First,
- 19:33we've got to find a body somewhere in this house. Nobody's been found,
- 19:37and we'll talk about murder. I'm sure you see what I mean. Any
- 19:56luck came and that yet, Lieutenant, which is odd not too easy to
- 20:00explain hiding a body isn't the simplest joman and two bodies, not one?
- 20:04And missus smart remember, well, the answer might be there aren't anybodies at
- 20:08all except blood. We're going to have to convince little Parksy here that it
- 20:12is smarter to talk. But I know you don't know anything. I've taken
- 20:18back into the study here. Hey, who closed this door? Yeah it
- 20:22was open when we left here. You're telling me hope that okay, okay,
- 20:26come in it. We turn out the light in here. Fine,
- 20:32the three of us in this house alone, step, We've got company who
- 20:34goes around ahead of us, closing doors and turning out the lights. Now,
- 20:37if I may say so, so Parksy, don't tell us this house
- 20:41is harder. Oh no, no, no. Several times as we went
- 20:45from room to room, I thought we're good for you. You thought what
- 20:51I thought. I heard footsteps not alone, and that thought little chump No,
- 20:55I heard him too. Thought it was my imagination to let your imagination
- 20:57run on ahead of you. Well, let's get these lights so I don't
- 21:02want to have what's a minute listen, keep still from them. This change
- 21:07still makes me think of a tomb. Oh it is quiet, isn't it?
- 21:11Shut up? Nothing but the ticking of the clock. Oh, yes,
- 21:17the clock is don't you hear it? I noticed the big grandfather's clock
- 21:21against the wall behind the desk. Tick of the clock. Cut that out,
- 21:26party. I really wasn't amused. It's incredible that you could be.
- 21:30If you do think it's something funny, Please tell me, say, lieutenant,
- 21:34well, turn the lights on just a moment more. Again, something
- 21:38very strange going on around here. We heard something toward the rear of the
- 21:44house sound like what, for example, don't start that? What kind of
- 21:48a sound. It was like a man getting ready to scream. Yes,
- 21:59I thought so all you did? He gets strange, isn't it perhaps a
- 22:02coincidence? Coincidence doesn't make a noise like that. Get some lights, stand
- 22:06on, Let's move fast. I want the man who made that noise,
- 22:15I think in that room the star here, Yes, missus Martin's room.
- 22:21I thought you said there wasn't any Missus martin parks yead? Oh did I?
- 22:23Oh? I must have forgotten. That's funny. Very Let's go in
- 22:26there. Whoever that man was who yelled like that, Let's go Missus Martin's
- 22:33room. Mate. Over there, I see missus Martin has come back,
- 22:40her body stuffed into that trunk alive. Okain, I hardly think it's possible.
- 22:48Dad for some time, probably since the time she disappeared, just after
- 22:52she let us in unpleasantly dead like Rigo's partner, bloodstained hammer in there with
- 22:59her, just like that Gorman died. Bigger has a weakness for beating in
- 23:03heads. That doesn't tell us her scream not missus Martin. Well, whoever
- 23:08lifted the lid of that trunk was the one? Who you see something?
- 23:11Oh? That closet just moved a very trifle. That's all I wanted to
- 23:15know. All right, baby, come on there, come riche whoa,
- 23:21Okay, I ain't bad at nobody. Whoa, look who's among us?
- 23:25Yeah? And please you could turn the heaters away, because, believe me,
- 23:30it's true. I ain't done letting. That's harmful. Well cheetah,
- 23:36Yeah, a second story acquaintance of long standing yeah cheater gentleman intruder takes things
- 23:41as he finds him. Eh, Oh, I ain't really big just because
- 23:45I snitched a few knickknacks anytime that's hot. I am really shut up.
- 23:51Cheetera the burgler, just a big playboy at heart. Huh what are you
- 23:55doing in this house? That's lieutenant. I have been asking myself to know
- 23:59Avail it was you? Well, yeah, why because I was most unhappy?
- 24:06You see why unhappy? Cheetah? Did it ever happen to you?
- 24:10Opening the trunk and a dark room and putting in a hand by the way
- 24:15you no harm to see what can be found, and having that hand come
- 24:21in contact you might say, with a very dead face, what would you
- 24:26do? What did you do? Did you kill her? Me? That
- 24:30wooden harm? Even an itchy bitchy we fly? Oh you know me?
- 24:36Okay? Oh nice house, tater too long? Maybe a couple of hours.
- 24:41I'm kept so busy on the dogs, with people going around. Where's
- 24:47the profit? In fact, I am happy you found me. This is
- 24:52one house where I will never return to my professional capacity. Right, but
- 24:56I know another house where you will. You mean, the big yes up
- 25:00the river. Well, at least they got no dead women in trunks.
- 25:04In fact, they got no women at all. So it is consequently peaceful
- 25:10I can set out my jolt in a breath. You'll get a chance to
- 25:14try and fine. You may think the more important things at the moment,
- 25:18Missus Martin murdered in spite of the fact that Parks here stated there was no
- 25:22Missus Martin another killing in the study, Rigger himself, probably what do you
- 25:26make of it? Okay, let's go back to that study. I think
- 25:29that the key of the mystery is there in that pool of blood. Well
- 25:33in blood, all right, Okay, blood's gonna tell us something. Let's
- 25:47go. You think I'm kidding that pool of blood? For instance, here
- 25:49goes Sherlock, get ready to be a maid. Where's the man who lost
- 25:52that blood? He wouldn't walk far. He didn't walk at all. If
- 25:56he had, there'd be a trail of blood drops on the carpet. Well,
- 25:57he didn't fly, and he didn't vanish in which means he was carried
- 26:00carried where that's the question, Lieutenant Foxy, old boy who always in this
- 26:06house at eleven o'clock when Riga ran for you and he came into the study
- 26:08to find this here. Now, I was in the house here, of
- 26:11course, and Missus Martin. Let's skip Missus Martin, whom you wants tonight
- 26:15and just look at you? Yes, you don't mind who not at all?
- 26:18I'll get on with it, O Kaine. Let's hear blood tell us
- 26:21something more. Some of the blood that'll talk isn't here at the moment.
- 26:23Gorman's blood on that money for which Riga killed him. When we got that
- 26:26marked money, will know plenty. And proof is Gorman said over the phone,
- 26:30a Rigor had killed him. Proof of more than that. Those bud
- 26:33stained bills are also the key to what happened in this study tonight. We
- 26:37got the man with the money, We got a man who burns. I
- 26:38beg your pregnant king, what are you talking about? Why did I hear
- 26:41you say something about bloodstained money? I'm afraid you did. And when you
- 26:47found the man who's got it he is you might say, sort of out
- 26:52of luck? Mistressed? What you getting there, Cheeter? In the course
- 26:56of my professional intevils tonight, well you might say I ran across it.
- 27:03This to be the money? You mean? Where'd you get that? Water
- 27:07barrels? Jeeter? Oh there's more, Lieutenant, Look, there's more,
- 27:12wonderful and at last, a mere little handful of one hundred dollars bills the
- 27:18voice sees I ever did see, and we part with reluctance. You think
- 27:25I'm kidding. I don't know if there's twenty five thousand year lieutenant. There
- 27:27could be. I do know that most of these pills are bloodstained, all
- 27:30Gorman's money, for which he was killed and for which other people had died
- 27:33TONI missus Martin, for instance, Robby rigored himself. Where'd you find this
- 27:37money, Jeeter, you might say, purely by accident. I bounced into
- 27:41a room where I find a nice suitcase, all packed but not yet blocked,
- 27:48so it comes open all at once. Yeah, I hadn't even look
- 27:52at it, but it does. And under the nice shots I find it.
- 27:59Though Chester or Cheatah, neither back of the house where the servants live.
- 28:04I figured I would say, was I asked to express an opinion?
- 28:10Yeah, it could be a rumor. This butler jump it had them kind
- 28:15of clothes in the closet. He was going to make a trip. So
- 28:21blood speaks again. I looked at it's been a parent all along, that
- 28:23Parks has been our man. That's right, but there are other things still
- 28:26not a parent all right, parksy on you handcuffs. WI look quite handsome.
- 28:30I know I have no you want to walk up? No, don't
- 28:34turn away. From the very nice policeman's jump, or I will strike you
- 28:40again, much obliged to you. That I know is something you like to
- 28:45do for yourself, okain, And I didn't like the spoils. You're taking
- 28:49a swing in his puss, But I was closest beside him, trying to
- 28:56be a very good boy over here, parks You know the handcuffs come up.
- 29:00You are arresting me for the miurder of mister Rigal murder. Yes,
- 29:03Parksy, then I'm very sorry, very sorry, but you're making a mistall
- 29:06So how'd you come to that conclusion, my little pale faced friend? By
- 29:08your own statement set, there can be no murder charge unless the murder can
- 29:11be proved. Now, where's the master's body to prove that I killed him?
- 29:15Oh? He gets technical? Okay, yeah, and that'll save his
- 29:18neck. Of course, there is the matter of the body. But then
- 29:22I of you like to see the body of the murdered man? Are you
- 29:25kidding? Okay? Not especially? I know where it is, all right,
- 29:27Producer, Parksy. According to your story, when your buzzy sounded tonight
- 29:32at eleven to order Rigo's coffee and biscuits, the man who pressed that buzzer
- 29:36button died, disappeared. I think if that buzzer is sounded again, he'll
- 29:41return. So I'm not tell me, Parsy, what is the signal for
- 29:44the butler in this house? Twice? What was the last time at night
- 29:48when Rigo usually sounded for you at midnight? There when he was ready to
- 29:53retire for the night. That was my guess. And midnight is only a
- 29:56few seconds away, Parksey, stand there by the desk with your finger on
- 30:00that button. When I tell you, press twice. Now, this is
- 30:02a gun in my hair, little pal. Hey, the rest of you
- 30:03come over by the clock so you can watch the time. Shakespeare Ocaine always
- 30:07dramatic. All right, do we hear? It's a few seconds to midnight
- 30:12when the clock starts to strike, ring twice for the butler, and let's
- 30:15see who comes in? Okain? Are you crazy? Not? Very get
- 30:21ready, Parsy? All right, ring for the butler. Press that button,
- 30:23yes, sir? And now why are you opening the case of that
- 30:30grandfather's clock. I see he rang for the butler, and here he is.
- 30:36I'm not a dead person stuffed in the big clock. Fine, So
- 30:41that's where a rigor's body was hidden, not riger. The old routine was
- 30:44still followed tonight. The master pressed the buzzer, the servant appeared. How
- 30:48do you know there was a like as two peas like master, like man,
- 30:52and I read that someone. They say it happens after years together and
- 30:55a little makeup can help. Look at the makeup on the man by the
- 30:57desk. Since he started the sweat to make his getaway with the money he
- 31:03stole from his partner, Riga planned this method of disappearance to assume the identity
- 31:07of his butler to make his get away easier. But missus Mattin she knew
- 31:11the butler and riger both, of course, and had to be silent.
- 31:14Yes, but more questions, Lieutenant, how did you know the butler's body
- 31:18was hidden in the big grandfather's clock. Okay, now listen for the last
- 31:23time tonight, Blood speaks. Listen to the tick of the clock. Well,
- 31:32I wondered about that when I first heard it. Why, because it
- 31:37can't be ticking. It's the dripping of blood. That clock doesn't tick,
- 31:40it's electric. The story of the killer who returned from the dead as the
- 31:49clock struck the hour brought you the voices of Johnny Easton as Okaine and Richard
- 31:55Legrand as Lieutenant Williams. You heard Howard mcneer as the killer, Sarah Selby
- 31:59is and this is Martin Harry Lang is Cheater and Grace hold Me as the
- 32:02telephone operator. A musical direction by Lou Bring Walter Ronold speaking homicide o'caine comes
- 32:22to you from Hollywood. This is the Blue Network. Welcome back now.
- 32:28Our challenge is to say the title three times fast. This one had some
- 32:32weird, odd moments, but I found it just kind of fun as it
- 32:38played out. It's kind of interesting to listen to his unique show. I
- 32:42don't know how long would feel if there were thirty or forty episodes of this,
- 32:45but for one sample of what this show was, it's kind of interesting.
- 32:51The sniping between lieutenant and o'caane was not great, and Ocaine could be
- 32:57a bit of a food per but you still have Howard mcneer making appearances wherever
- 33:05he can to pick up his scale pay. I will say I think they
- 33:08kind of wrote the lieutenant a little just too over the top dumb, particularly
- 33:14having to be advised that they would not need an ambulance for a corpse.
- 33:19But Anyway, that's all for homicide Okaine. And if you thought nineteen forty
- 33:23three was early, next week, we're going back to the thirties for eighteen
- 33:29weeks of a very unique series called Police Headquarters. So I hope you'll be
- 33:34with us next Saturday for Police Headquarters. In the meantime, sendra commons to
