- 0:39Speaker 2: we interview Mike Novagratz, who's worth eight billion dollars, when
- 0:43Speaker 2: we interview Rick Ross, when we interview Dame Dash It's

- 0:57Speaker 2: and learn from this man's journey, his experiences, and the
- 1:02Speaker 2: information that he's about to provide. So, without further ado,
- 1:07Speaker 2: the big Aristotle.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Shack where you at, baby, what's happening?
- 1:58Speaker 5: You'll live in this motherfucker? Damn.
- 2:03Speaker 6: It's like it's like Game seven.
- 2:05Speaker 5: This is what's going on. Any Hawks fans of the building, Okay.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Okay, Shaq Shack first and foremost, thank you, brother. We
- 2:15Speaker 2: appreciate it. PhD NBA gentleman and a scholar. But more
- 2:21Speaker 2: important than anything, great father. So before we start, I
- 2:25Speaker 2: want to wish you yes and every father out there fathers, yes, yes, yes, yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 2: So Shaq, We're not even gonna waste any time.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Let's get right into it. Everybody take your seat.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Now it's time to Larn's tom alun pads out. So
- 2:44Speaker 2: Magic Johnson, the Great Magic Johnson gave you some advice
- 2:48Speaker 2: when he was eighteen years old about financial literacy. You know,
- 2:51Speaker 2: we always hear about seventy percent of NBA players going broke,
- 2:55Speaker 2: a lot of the NFL players going broke, rappers, entertainers.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But you're somebody who obviously made a lot of money
- 3:01Speaker 2: while you were playing, but you probably double, quadruple tripled
- 3:04Speaker 2: your net worth after you're playing.
- 3:06Speaker 6: It's a success story.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So what are some of the jewels that he gave
- 3:09Speaker 2: you when you was a young man that you still
- 3:11Speaker 2: carry with you to this day.
- 3:13Speaker 7: Well, at first, before I met Magic Johnson, I spend
- 3:16Speaker 7: a million dollars in one day, so I knew nothing
- 3:19Speaker 7: about financial literacy. My agent calls me and said, hey,
- 3:23Speaker 7: I got a check for a million, so shit, you
- 3:26Speaker 7: know me, I already had that black Mercedes lined up,
- 3:29Speaker 7: so I said, I'm about to go get the Mercedes
- 3:31Speaker 7: with the wheels the pullout deck.
- 3:34Speaker 5: So it costs one fifty.
- 3:36Speaker 7: So when I get back to the crib, my dad said,
- 3:38Speaker 7: where's mine at? So in my mind, I'm like a
- 3:41Speaker 7: million minus one fifty. Shit, I got eight to fifty left, right,
- 3:45Speaker 7: So I go buy him one and go buy my
- 3:47Speaker 7: mother one.
- 3:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 3:48Speaker 7: I get some ice against some ear rings, and get
- 3:50Speaker 7: a couple of suits. So I get a call from
- 3:52Speaker 7: the bank manager. He says, you spend a million dollars
- 3:55Speaker 7: and I was like, no, I didn't. So then when
- 3:57Speaker 7: i'm I'm looking at the paperwork, I see fight. Now
- 4:01Speaker 7: get mad. I'm like, hey, I don't know no motherfucking fighter.
- 4:04Speaker 5: He'd no. I so like, I didn't.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Like, I had no idea what fighter and income to
- 4:11Speaker 7: a sales tax stay taxed.
- 4:12Speaker 5: I had no idea what that was.
- 4:14Speaker 7: So then I said, okay, I don't want to be
- 4:17Speaker 7: like the rest of these NBA players. I got to
- 4:19Speaker 7: teach myself because this is something that we don't know, Like,
- 4:23Speaker 7: you know, my family, work, work, paycheck to paycheck. We
- 4:26Speaker 7: never had no money, but I had to get that binds.
- 4:29Speaker 7: I had to get my mom a bench like I
- 4:31Speaker 7: just had to get that first. So after I spent
- 4:34Speaker 7: that million dollars in the day, I sort of, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 7: educated myself, and it's okay not to know nothing. So
- 4:40Speaker 7: if you don't know nothing, you just ask questions. So
- 4:42Speaker 7: everybody I saw that was successful.
- 4:45Speaker 5: How you do that? How you do that? How you
- 4:48Speaker 5: do that?
- 4:48Speaker 7: And the first book I bought was the Dummiest Guide
- 4:51Speaker 7: to Starting your Own business. Everybody, everybody should get that
- 4:54Speaker 7: book because they give you all the answers on how
- 4:57Speaker 7: to start a business, how to be successful, what to look.
- 5:00Speaker 7: So after that I became a little more literate, but
- 5:04Speaker 7: I still didn't know a lot. Then when I went
- 5:07Speaker 7: to La Magic was having a function. He got some praise.
- 5:11Speaker 7: I got a little bit more praise. I thought I
- 5:13Speaker 7: was the mand and he said, it's all right to
- 5:16Speaker 7: be famous, but at some point, you want to start
- 5:18Speaker 7: owning things. I didn't know what that means. So I
- 5:21Speaker 7: went back to the book and I'm looking up sold proprietorship,
- 5:25Speaker 7: you know, joint venture, all this stuff, and I'm devising
- 5:29Speaker 7: my plan.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That's a valuable lesson, right.
- 5:31Speaker 8: We always made that quote that formal education can make
- 5:35Speaker 8: you a portune, but self education can make you a fortune.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And so I'm glad that you said that. Part.
- 5:40Speaker 8: One of the things that I love that you said
- 5:42Speaker 8: is that you invest in things that changed people's lives,
- 5:45Speaker 8: and so one of those things was Google in two
- 5:47Speaker 8: thousand and four before the IPO. Can you talk about
- 5:50Speaker 8: how you got introduced to Google and the CEOs or
- 5:55Speaker 8: the company itself.
- 5:56Speaker 7: Believe or not that was by accident. Wow, I'm at
- 5:59Speaker 7: the four season's sitting and some white guys and their
- 6:05Speaker 7: kids recognize me. So I'm just being nice, sound on
- 6:09Speaker 7: the grass taking pictures, and a gentleman says, hey, man,
- 6:13Speaker 7: I respect you. I like what you're doing in the community.
- 6:15Speaker 7: I want to tell you about this company Google. I
- 6:18Speaker 7: didn't know what he was talking about. So another good
- 6:21Speaker 7: thing is always half It's always important to have somebody
- 6:24Speaker 7: smarter than you that works for you.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 6:30Speaker 7: If you're the smartest guy in the room, there's a problem.
- 6:34Speaker 7: So he talking all this white boy stuff. I don't
- 6:38Speaker 7: know what he's talking about, but I was like, you
- 6:39Speaker 7: know what, I got some white boys. I understand your language.
- 6:42Speaker 7: It sounds good what you're saying, search Engine Future, all
- 6:46Speaker 7: that sound good, but nah, I'm not doing that. I
- 6:49Speaker 7: hooked him up with my guy. My guy was like,
- 6:51Speaker 7: it looks pretty good, let's do it. I put in
- 6:54Speaker 7: a bag, and then a couple of years later, I
- 6:58Speaker 7: got a bigger bag, and then like, I always go
- 7:05Speaker 7: to these text conferences because I like to hear smart
- 7:08Speaker 7: people talk, like some people talk too much, and I
- 7:12Speaker 7: like the people that talk too much because I'm stealing
- 7:14Speaker 7: all this shit. So so Jeff Bezos. Somebody asked Jeff
- 7:23Speaker 7: Bezos how you get so rich, and he said, I
- 7:26Speaker 7: invest in things that change people's lives.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Shit.
- 7:34Speaker 7: So the first thing I did. I was coming out
- 7:36Speaker 7: of the Orlando Arena and this lady was chewing me
- 7:42Speaker 7: a new one. You m efforts charging these babies three
- 7:46Speaker 7: hundred dollars for shoes blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
- 7:49Speaker 7: And I was like, ma'am, I don't make the price.
- 7:51Speaker 7: I apologized, and I had some money in my pocket.
- 7:53Speaker 7: I was like, here you go, baby, go buy your
- 7:55Speaker 7: son Jordan's whatever he wants. She smacked the money out
- 7:58Speaker 7: of my hand. So at that point I went home
- 8:00Speaker 7: and I thought about it. I was like, you know what,
- 8:03Speaker 7: I don't feel right charging the kids that want to
- 8:06Speaker 7: be us one hundred two hundred dollars shoes. Already had
- 8:09Speaker 7: a relationship with Walmart. I had another line. So I
- 8:13Speaker 7: met with the CEO of Walmart and I said, look,
- 8:15Speaker 7: I want to I want to be the number one
- 8:17Speaker 7: shoe seller of Walmart. So we did a deal. That
- 8:20Speaker 7: was in ninety five, and ever since ninety five, I've
- 8:22Speaker 7: sold over four hundred million bear.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Four hundred million clap it up for that, clap it
- 8:27Speaker 3: up for that.
- 8:28Speaker 7: The Mom's on It mines are twenty nine ninety five,
- 8:31Speaker 7: nineteen ninety five. But see, the secret is, I know us.
- 8:36Speaker 7: It's not that we don't want to wear twenty dollars shoes.
- 8:38Speaker 7: We don't want to wear shoes that look like they
- 8:40Speaker 7: cost twenty dollars. I know how to go. So again,
- 8:44Speaker 7: I hire some designers. Shit, if the you know Adida's
- 8:48Speaker 7: got three strikes, my shit gonna have four.
- 8:51Speaker 5: That's Case Swiss, that's KSE Swiss.
- 8:53Speaker 7: Case whatever. And then you know, with me being who
- 8:59Speaker 7: I am, some kids still get picked on when they
- 9:01Speaker 7: go to school, but it's still a little bit of
- 9:04Speaker 7: you know, respect behind my name.
- 9:06Speaker 2: People don't fully understand that. And I want to dive
- 9:08Speaker 2: even deeper because as a young person, you have foresight.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I believe you turned down a seven million dollar extension
- 9:15Speaker 2: from reebok to start your own company. So speak about
- 9:18Speaker 2: that as far as the power of betting itself, because
- 9:20Speaker 2: there's people out here who might have a two hundred
- 9:23Speaker 2: thousand dollar job that they are afraid to leave. So
- 9:26Speaker 2: you turned down a seven million dollar extension from reebok,
- 9:29Speaker 2: which was twenty years ago, and that on yourself, and
- 9:34Speaker 2: like you said, it ended up working out real big
- 9:36Speaker 2: for you.
- 9:36Speaker 7: I took a chance what I realized from the previous
- 9:41Speaker 7: business that I wasn't going to outsell Michael Jordan. But
- 9:45Speaker 7: people know who I was, right because Michael used to
- 9:49Speaker 7: kill me a foot locker like they weren't even looking
- 9:51Speaker 7: at my shit, which is cool. I understand that's Mike.
- 9:54Speaker 7: I ain't tripping. So I said, if I go somewhere
- 9:57Speaker 7: where nobody's at, that's all mine, right, And then I said,
- 10:02Speaker 7: you know what, I know, it's a lot of kids
- 10:04Speaker 7: out there that that you know, want to have something
- 10:06Speaker 7: respectable on their feet or respectable names, something that looked
- 10:09Speaker 7: good and it's going to work, and it's the right
- 10:12Speaker 7: thing to do, because again I didn't feel right charging
- 10:16Speaker 7: little kids one hundred and two hundred dollars for shoes.
- 10:18Speaker 7: First year, I felt good about it, but then I
- 10:20Speaker 7: have to you know, reality kicked in. I was like,
- 10:22Speaker 7: this ain't right, this ain't right. So I invested in
- 10:26Speaker 7: something that's going to change people's lives, and I just
- 10:29Speaker 7: went for it. You know, being a CEO starts up here.
- 10:34Speaker 7: Everybody in this room is already a CEO.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yeah, clapping up yourselves for sure.
- 10:39Speaker 7: For sure, you don't you don't have to be a
- 10:42Speaker 7: you don't have to own a business to be a CEO.
- 10:44Speaker 7: Being a CEO is a mentality. If you have that mentality,
- 10:48Speaker 7: if you have that belief, it will work. Of course,
- 10:51Speaker 7: there's going to be some ups and downs. When I
- 10:53Speaker 7: first started sell ten thousand pair, twenty thousand pairs, fifty
- 10:58Speaker 7: thousand pair, and then it just kept on. So you know,
- 11:01Speaker 7: I've been doing this since since ninety five, so ninety
- 11:03Speaker 7: five to now, that's what thirty something years, four hundred
- 11:06Speaker 7: million pair. And then I went to China and did
- 11:09Speaker 7: the same thing, get some of that Chinese money getting ennyone.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but what people don't even digging even deeper to
- 11:18Speaker 2: the situation where Reebop you actually designed the logo and
- 11:23Speaker 2: talk about that because you I believe you did that
- 11:25Speaker 2: when you.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Was in college.
- 11:26Speaker 7: You know, it's crazy. It was simple how I did it.
- 11:31Speaker 7: So Michael Jordan's jump man and I dunk a lot shit.
- 11:34Speaker 7: I'm dunk man. That's how I did it. So I
- 11:38Speaker 7: went to you know I'm saying. So I went to
- 11:40Speaker 7: the office, got a registered. I can only afford to
- 11:45Speaker 7: get a registered across the United States, so I had it.
- 11:48Speaker 7: So we had a marketing class. The marketing professor said,
- 11:52Speaker 7: show us something that could be sold in the future.
- 11:55Speaker 7: So I came with the Shack shirts, Shaq underwear, Shak sock,
- 11:59Speaker 7: shak shoes. And at that time, big men were not selling.
- 12:03Speaker 7: Only guys were selling. That was doctor Magic Johnson, Larry Bird.
- 12:08Speaker 7: So the guy gave me an f he said, this
- 12:09Speaker 7: will never work because big guys don't sell.
- 12:13Speaker 5: So then I thought about what he said. It made
- 12:15Speaker 5: a lot of sense.
- 12:16Speaker 7: So as I'm back in my dorm room, I'm sitting
- 12:18Speaker 7: I seen this dumb ass dog on TV and I'm
- 12:26Speaker 7: just sitting there. This dude got like twenty commercials, and
- 12:29Speaker 7: I go through the store. He got cups and hats.
- 12:31Speaker 7: So now I go back and study him. And every
- 12:33Speaker 7: commercial he did was funny. So I said, a Hi,
- 12:36Speaker 7: if I ever get the chance to do a commercial,
- 12:38Speaker 7: I just got to add a lot of humor to
- 12:40Speaker 7: the commercial. So I've always had the ability to create
- 12:42Speaker 7: my own commercials and it's working out pretty good for me.
- 12:46Speaker 8: One of the other things that happened in college is
- 12:49Speaker 8: and you actually turned into a business, was the lack
- 12:51Speaker 8: of the ability to get car insurance, and so now
- 12:54Speaker 8: you have a deal with the General insurance. Can you
- 12:57Speaker 8: tell about that story, because a lot of times people
- 12:59Speaker 8: see the Immershaw and they see the cartoon, it's, ah,
- 13:02Speaker 8: this is not serious, But Na, this is something that
- 13:04Speaker 8: you've been doing for a long time because of that story.
- 13:06Speaker 7: In college, everybody everybody had a car but me. So
- 13:10Speaker 7: I'm walking one day and I see this Bronco too.
- 13:13Speaker 7: That shit was raggedy, but it was a car fifteen hundred.
- 13:17Speaker 7: So I get the pel grant for eighteen hundred. So yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 7: we know that, we know the pel grants, so we
- 13:23Speaker 7: know that. So I go to the bank and get
- 13:26Speaker 7: about three hundred and I get the rest in ones,
- 13:29Speaker 7: so I got the big knot. So then I go
- 13:33Speaker 7: buy the car and the guy says, hey, man, before
- 13:36Speaker 7: I let you drive, you need insurance. I'm like, what's insurance?
- 13:40Speaker 7: He said, you need insurance. So I go to all
- 13:42Speaker 7: these places three hundred a month, two hundred a month.
- 13:47Speaker 7: So now I got to go back to the dude like,
- 13:49Speaker 7: hey man, I need my money back. I can't afford
- 13:51Speaker 7: the insurance. So he said, no, go to this place.
- 13:54Speaker 7: And the place I went to was the General. And
- 13:57Speaker 7: the reason why I do commercial for the General now, one,
- 14:01Speaker 7: they took care of me when I was young. But
- 14:03Speaker 7: it's affordable insurance. We ain't got time these days, especially
- 14:08Speaker 7: since they laying people off. We ain't got time to
- 14:10Speaker 7: be paying five hundred and six hundred for insurance. So
- 14:13Speaker 7: it's really a quality insurance company, just like all the
- 14:16Speaker 7: other companies. But we decide we're not overcharging people and
- 14:20Speaker 7: you get the same thing. So that's why I'm with
- 14:22Speaker 7: the General. I'm more about I'm more about introducing products
- 14:26Speaker 7: that are affordable to people rather than just you know,
- 14:28Speaker 7: introducing everything so lo to you for.
- 14:31Speaker 6: That that's a fact.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Let's get back to this logo, because I don't I
- 14:35Speaker 2: think that that might have won over a few people's heads.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's valuable lessons in this situation. A. You was in college,
- 14:41Speaker 2: you was an All American, you're the top basketball player
- 14:44Speaker 2: in college. You come up with an idea, your professor
- 14:48Speaker 2: tells you that's a bad idea, gives you an f
- 14:51Speaker 2: and said big men are not marketable. So A, I
- 14:55Speaker 2: think that a lot of times in our life we
- 14:57Speaker 2: let people dictate our future by their opinion.
- 15:01Speaker 6: You could have easily said you're right, But also.
- 15:03Speaker 2: You didn't take it personal because in a way he
- 15:05Speaker 2: kind of was right. But you realize that you had
- 15:10Speaker 2: to become a personality. So that's why when you start
- 15:13Speaker 2: the commercials. But McKenzie, it's like, okay, the shock and
- 15:16Speaker 2: the fool. People see you dancing and all that. They think, like,
- 15:18Speaker 2: you are a nice guy. But that's also part of
- 15:22Speaker 2: the marketing play because you knew you had to make
- 15:24Speaker 2: yourself a lovable character.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Earns what's going on.
- 15:27Speaker 8: Traditional universities are outdated and don't teach you how to
- 15:30Speaker 8: become an entrepreneur.
- 15:31Speaker 3: They just teach you how to become an employee.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You go to school for four years and you leave
- 15:36Speaker 2: with nothing but debt. But here are EYL University. Our
- 15:40Speaker 2: curriculum is much different.
- 15:42Speaker 8: Our university teaches you real world skills that you can
- 15:45Speaker 8: use to gain financial freedom right away.
- 15:47Speaker 3: And traditional universities you learn.
- 15:49Speaker 8: From professors that have never did what they teach, and
- 15:51Speaker 8: they teach you how to become an employee. At our university,
- 15:54Speaker 8: we use instructors that are currently successful in specific field
- 15:57Speaker 8: that they teach, and they teach you how to become entrepreneur.
- 16:00Speaker 2: For a limited time only, you can join eyl University
- 16:04Speaker 2: for twenty five percent off of the annual membership. Learn
- 16:08Speaker 2: about stocks, credit, real estate, crypto and more. Go to
- 16:11Speaker 2: eyluniversity dot com right now and sign up to become
- 16:15Speaker 2: an earner.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Don't wait, don't hesitate it over there, now, give.
- 16:18Speaker 7: Me a favor. If you feel like you're somebody, put
- 16:21Speaker 7: your hand up. This is the quote I tell my kids.
- 16:26Speaker 7: If a nobody can influence to somebody, then that nobody wins.
- 16:31Speaker 7: But the question of the day is who the fuck
- 16:33Speaker 7: are you? Nobody think about that. I don't let people
- 16:37Speaker 7: tell me what I can and can't do. It won't happen.
- 16:40Speaker 7: So he's saying, he's saying, big guys ain't gonna sell it.
- 16:43Speaker 7: I'm like, okay, all right, whatever, don't do this, don't
- 16:48Speaker 7: do that, okay, whatever. Like it don't matter what they say.
- 16:50Speaker 7: You gotta whatever you believe, you go for it, and
- 16:53Speaker 7: you gotta understand before you succeed, you must first learn
- 16:56Speaker 7: to fail. Like if you fail one or two times
- 16:59Speaker 7: and you and you stop pursuing your dream, you ain't ready.
- 17:03Speaker 8: Anyway, that's a valuable lesson. A lot of people discount that.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I read this quote and said that failure is the
- 17:10Speaker 8: beginning of the journey. It is right because after that
- 17:13Speaker 8: point you've now learned what not to do. So a
- 17:16Speaker 8: lot of people got to get really understand that.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You have to feel at some point.
- 17:20Speaker 6: Just to know, and you learn from the mistakes of others.
- 17:22Speaker 2: So obviously Michael Jordan a goat, but he doesn't own
- 17:26Speaker 2: the junk Man logo. And there's actually a lawsuit a
- 17:28Speaker 2: few years ago with the photographer that took that picture.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Nike paid them like ten thousand dollars. But think about
- 17:35Speaker 2: how valuable that logo billions. That logo itself is worth
- 17:39Speaker 2: billions of dollars. So you learned from that and said, Okay,
- 17:42Speaker 2: I got the dunk Man logo, but you own that logo.
- 17:46Speaker 2: So artists, entertainers, you see people that don't own their masters.
- 17:51Speaker 2: You've seen the horror stories. Learn from it. Don't continue
- 17:55Speaker 2: to make the same mistake.
- 17:56Speaker 7: Yes, I've always learned from mistakes. My father was a
- 18:00Speaker 7: drill sergeant. So when every every time somebody did something crazy,
- 18:04Speaker 7: I got a whooping len bias passed away from doing cocaine.
- 18:08Speaker 7: My father came in and told me a new one.
- 18:12Speaker 7: He came in the house. He said, if you ever
- 18:13Speaker 7: do coke, I'll kill you. And I'm so young and dumb,
- 18:16Speaker 7: I was like, I don't. I don't do coke. I
- 18:18Speaker 7: drink PEPSI. It just hit me with that, with the two.
- 18:21Speaker 5: Piece bo bo. That's why I don't. That's why I
- 18:24Speaker 5: don't do drugs.
- 18:26Speaker 7: One time he caught me sipping on the beer, he
- 18:29Speaker 7: made me drink a twelve pack to the head. That's
- 18:32Speaker 7: why I don't do stuff like that. Every time every
- 18:33Speaker 7: time I athlete did something crazy, I would get in trouble. So,
- 18:37Speaker 7: you know, rather than really cute and judging people, I
- 18:40Speaker 7: just learned, you know, from their mistakes.
- 18:43Speaker 3: So just the logo.
- 18:44Speaker 8: I'm thinking from my perspective, and I want him to
- 18:46Speaker 8: your take on it. This is something that you sketched
- 18:48Speaker 8: in college. If we go to l A right now,
- 18:51Speaker 8: that logo is in front of the Staples Center.
- 18:54Speaker 3: What is that feeling like for you?
- 18:55Speaker 6: Oh, don't let that go over your head, ladies.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And this is the idea that he sketched his college,
- 19:01Speaker 2: and then he got a statue in front of the
- 19:02Speaker 2: Staples Center of that same logo.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Yo, I made for.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Christige.
- 19:10Speaker 7: I see, I see a lot of kids in here,
- 19:14Speaker 7: and I tell kids the same thing. Listen to your
- 19:17Speaker 7: mother and father. I wasn't the smartest guy in her room,
- 19:21Speaker 7: wasn't the brightest guy in a room. But I listened
- 19:23Speaker 7: to my mother and father. They believed in my dream.
- 19:26Speaker 7: They made me believe in my dream. And I just
- 19:29Speaker 7: I just wanted to fight. I'm a fighter. Like when
- 19:32Speaker 7: you tell me I can't do nothing, I'm gonna just
- 19:34Speaker 7: go and do it. So when I first got to LA,
- 19:37Speaker 7: nobody could be as famous as Magic and kareem you'll
- 19:39Speaker 7: never win and all that, and I'm saying, Okay, you're
- 19:42Speaker 7: a nobody. I'm a somebody. I ain't trying to hear
- 19:45Speaker 7: all that, and you know, you just keep fighting. So
- 19:47Speaker 7: the first four years me and Kobe we got swept.
- 19:50Speaker 7: We ain't give up. We just kept going, and then
- 19:52Speaker 7: we won three in a row. I got traded. You
- 19:54Speaker 7: all know the story. But again, it doesn't matter what
- 19:57Speaker 7: anybody tell you. It's what you believe. Again, everybody here
- 20:01Speaker 7: is the CEO. The CEO is mental.
- 20:04Speaker 2: So yeah, one of the things that you're known for
- 20:08Speaker 2: is being a franchise owner. You own a bunch of franchises.
- 20:12Speaker 2: They talked about it earlier, Papa John's twenty four hour fitness. Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 2: any other that I'm missing five guys, but you sold
- 20:21Speaker 2: so far sold five guys.
- 20:24Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 20:26Speaker 2: But so the franchise. It's a lot of NBA players
- 20:29Speaker 2: that a franchise. Jamal Mashburn, Chauncey Billups, Chauncey Billups, Magic Johnson,
- 20:36Speaker 2: Junior Bridgeman, a person that probably nobody here has ever
- 20:39Speaker 2: heard that.
- 20:40Speaker 8: That's not true because they listened to Hopefully. They want Hopefully,
- 20:44Speaker 8: so y'all should know Junior Bridgeman.
- 20:45Speaker 6: But Junior Bridgeman is interesting.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Can you talk about the story of Juliy Bridgeman and
- 20:50Speaker 2: how he influenced you.
- 20:52Speaker 7: I always use people that are better than me to
- 20:54Speaker 7: influence me. So coming up Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, doctor
- 20:59Speaker 7: j and business is Junior Bridgeman because he did the
- 21:03Speaker 7: same thing I did as a professional basketball player. After
- 21:06Speaker 7: that he bridge out into business. Dudes a billionaire. So
- 21:12Speaker 7: even though I'm forty nine, I don't feel ashamed when
- 21:15Speaker 7: I say I want to be like somebody else. I
- 21:18Speaker 7: strive to be like him. And he owns a lot
- 21:20Speaker 7: of things and he's a very impressive man. The Papa
- 21:23Speaker 7: Johns was a very interesting story. So after the dude
- 21:27Speaker 7: did what he did, I was already trying to get franchises,
- 21:32Speaker 7: but he kind of turned me down. So after the
- 21:34Speaker 7: dude did what he did, a friend of mine said, hey,
- 21:38Speaker 7: we're going to go buy Papa John's. I said what
- 21:41Speaker 7: you mean? He said, come with me. So we go
- 21:44Speaker 7: in and a friend that I know he buys Papa
- 21:46Speaker 7: John's and he said, Shack, I want you a board.
- 21:49Speaker 7: I said, well, you know, you messed up with my people.
- 21:52Speaker 7: He said, no, it wasn't me, it was in. I said,
- 21:54Speaker 7: well you know they messed up with my people. I said,
- 21:57Speaker 7: if you put me on board. I gotta be on
- 22:01Speaker 7: the board. I gotta be in charge, and I gotta
- 22:04Speaker 7: get some franchises. I got to help y'all understand what's
- 22:07Speaker 7: going on. So the first thing I did when they
- 22:11Speaker 7: came in, they'll say, hey, man, the numbers, the numbers
- 22:15Speaker 7: are still the same. We're not getting any better. I said,
- 22:17Speaker 7: can I be frank? I said yeah. I said, how
- 22:20Speaker 7: y'all gonna call people the N word and then charge
- 22:22Speaker 7: them the highest price for pizza. We ain't going for that,
- 22:24Speaker 7: show talk about it. We ain't going for that. So
- 22:30Speaker 7: I said, first thing you need to do, drop them prices.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Though.
- 22:33Speaker 7: So you dropped the prices, things start getting back. And
- 22:37Speaker 7: at first I took a lot of flat and I
- 22:39Speaker 7: understood because a lot of times I don't tell people
- 22:42Speaker 7: what I'm doing because I don't want it to be
- 22:44Speaker 7: perceived as bragging. He do this, he do that, I'm
- 22:47Speaker 7: doing business for me. It was a great thing to do.
- 22:51Speaker 7: And listen, Papa John's is a good brand. The guy
- 22:53Speaker 7: just messed up, but he had to pay for that.
- 22:55Speaker 7: He sold it to us. So now that he sold
- 22:58Speaker 7: it to us, I'm just gonna make it's right. Slowly,
- 23:01Speaker 7: but surely. But a lot of people you sell out
- 23:03Speaker 7: this and that. But one thing I will never do
- 23:05Speaker 7: is sell my people out. I'll never like if he
- 23:08Speaker 7: was still involved, yes, sir, listen, if he was.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Still involved, I would never do that. But he out.
- 23:16Speaker 5: My man owned it and I own it now, so
- 23:18Speaker 5: we're straight.
- 23:23Speaker 3: And the marketing is amazing.
- 23:24Speaker 8: By the way, So when you're going into company, is
- 23:27Speaker 8: there a specific thing that you're looking for when you're
- 23:29Speaker 8: trying to investigate a company. Obviously you wanted to change lives,
- 23:32Speaker 8: but is there any other criteria that you're looking for
- 23:34Speaker 8: when you want to get.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Into a company.
- 23:36Speaker 7: I man, I just want to make people happy and
- 23:38Speaker 7: make people smile. So the general because that's affordable insurance, yep,
- 23:42Speaker 7: shack shoes for the kids.
- 23:45Speaker 5: What else?
- 23:46Speaker 7: Papa John's because you know we love pizza. Yeah, I
- 23:50Speaker 7: sold my aunt N's. Yeah, because black people don't like
- 23:53Speaker 7: pretzels that much, so I had to switch it out.
- 23:58Speaker 8: Now, the cinnamon ones we eat, the cinnamon flavored ones
- 24:01Speaker 8: we eat. We eat done right, y'all eat the cinnamon pretzels.
- 24:04Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I don'tbody eat no cinnamon prenzels. You know,
- 24:10Speaker 7: if we do, if we don't get your motherfucker Vince
- 24:14Speaker 7: Carter looking at ass out there.
- 24:18Speaker 5: You don't hat no cinnamon putting my hell.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Now, no, no troys you're making. So it's the spices
- 24:26Speaker 6: and all that. No, I don't.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought it was a good investing.
- 24:30Speaker 3: But yeah, big live man.
- 24:35Speaker 6: But before I'm ask you another question.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But before we go there, it's a it's a lesson
- 24:40Speaker 2: in humility and not to look past anybody. The reason
- 24:44Speaker 2: why I brought up Junior Bridgeman is because, like I said,
- 24:47Speaker 2: the vast majority of people who never heard of him.
- 24:49Speaker 2: He played in the NBA in the nineteen seventies. I
- 24:51Speaker 2: think the most he ever made was like two hundred
- 24:53Speaker 2: thousand dollars. He worked in Wendy's during the off season.
- 24:56Speaker 2: He didn't work in Wendy's because he needed the job.
- 24:58Speaker 2: He worked in Windy's to learn in the business. So
- 25:01Speaker 2: after he was done, he started investing in win these franchises.
- 25:03Speaker 2: He ended up owning over four hundred whin these franchises
- 25:06Speaker 2: and became the second largest win these franchise owner in
- 25:08Speaker 2: the world, not America, in the world. And he amassed
- 25:12Speaker 2: a network for four hundred million dollars in a process.
- 25:16Speaker 6: No no, no, no no.
- 25:17Speaker 2: So then he sold that, he sold all of those
- 25:21Speaker 2: and flipped it and now he's nine hundred million. So
- 25:24Speaker 2: Shaq said, he looks up to him. So if you
- 25:26Speaker 2: just looking at it, like Junior Bridgeman, he's not an
- 25:29Speaker 2: All Stars, he's not a Hall of Fame, you might
- 25:32Speaker 2: he might be in an audience right now you walk
- 25:34Speaker 2: right past him. You never know who you're sitting next to.
- 25:38Speaker 2: And just because you're not at the top of a
- 25:41Speaker 2: certain level now doesn't mean you can't get to the
- 25:43Speaker 2: top of something else later on.
- 25:44Speaker 3: And that's and that was one of the things.
- 25:46Speaker 8: He was at the top of a list, right So
- 25:48Speaker 8: when you I read the story where he said that
- 25:50Speaker 8: you searched up NBA players with the greatest fortune and
- 25:54Speaker 8: you thought your name would.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Be on that. I thought I was at the top.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I'm close to your surprise, it was Julia Bridgmane.
- 26:01Speaker 7: You know, it's crazy because I was at the airport too,
- 26:03Speaker 7: like NBA richest players. I was like, I was like
- 26:17Speaker 7: number seven. I'm like, damn, I'm broke compared to these dudes.
- 26:23Speaker 7: But it just it just motivated and like the crazy
- 26:27Speaker 7: thing is I never wanted to be rich. I just
- 26:31Speaker 7: wanted to be able to buy my mother or anything
- 26:33Speaker 7: she wants. That's it. I don't care about. Look, you can't.
- 26:39Speaker 7: You can't take none of this with you, just like
- 26:43Speaker 7: some of the ladies in here, and you know some
- 26:45Speaker 7: of your parents. My mom used to cook us breakfast,
- 26:50Speaker 7: iron our clothes, go to work, come home, cook dinner,
- 26:56Speaker 7: never complain. So that was motivating for me. The first
- 26:59Speaker 7: thing I said, I said, when I get this money,
- 27:01Speaker 7: you ain't gonna have to do nothing ever again in
- 27:04Speaker 7: your life. I heard a little seriously like nothing so
- 27:10Speaker 7: and she's she never asked me for nothing. But right
- 27:14Speaker 7: before Kobe died, my sister passed away, so my family
- 27:18Speaker 7: was living in Orlando. I only got to see him
- 27:21Speaker 7: four times at work. It's like, y'all got to come
- 27:23Speaker 7: home with me, So mother go pick a house. You know,
- 27:26Speaker 7: she's still want of them my old school, my baby.
- 27:28Speaker 7: That's too much. I'm like, you want it, and like
- 27:31Speaker 7: it feels good to just tell them, yeah, give me
- 27:34Speaker 7: that without without do with without no checking credit or
- 27:38Speaker 7: none of that. Like the lady was like, she was like,
- 27:40Speaker 7: I need to check your credit. I was like, I
- 27:41Speaker 7: beg your pardon, excuse me.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:48Speaker 7: My mama was like, baby, don't do that. I was like,
- 27:50Speaker 7: hold on, mama, she disrespected me. Hey lady, I want
- 27:54Speaker 7: this house and I want to ten day closing right now.
- 27:56Speaker 5: Do it?
- 27:57Speaker 7: Thank you appreciate it. So that's that's that's what I'm
- 28:01Speaker 7: doing for. So you know my kids. My kids are
- 28:07Speaker 7: older now and they're kind of upset with me, not
- 28:10Speaker 7: really upset, but they don't understand because I tell them
- 28:12Speaker 7: all the time.
- 28:13Speaker 5: We ain't rich. I'm rich. Yeah, we don't know.
- 28:19Speaker 7: You got to You got to have bachelors or masters,
- 28:22Speaker 7: and then if you want me to invest in one
- 28:24Speaker 7: of your companies, you're gonna have to present it boom
- 28:26Speaker 7: boom boom and bring it to me. I'll let you know.
- 28:28Speaker 7: I'm not giving you nothing. The girls, I'll take care
- 28:32Speaker 7: of the girl. But my boys or they're not getting nothing.
- 28:35Speaker 8: Do you see the entrepreneurial spirit and get children. I
- 28:38Speaker 8: know some of the boys are playing basketball. Did you
- 28:41Speaker 8: see that spirit in them?
- 28:42Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 28:42Speaker 7: I do, but I try to let them figure it out.
- 28:44Speaker 7: You know, listen, it's one rule education. I don't care
- 28:48Speaker 7: if you play basketball. I don't care about none of
- 28:50Speaker 7: that because unless I got six kids, I would like
- 28:54Speaker 7: a doctor, somebody own a hedge fund, a pharmacist, a lawyer,
- 29:00Speaker 7: someone that owns multiple businesses, someone to take over my business.
- 29:03Speaker 7: But I tell him, I said we not. I'm not
- 29:05Speaker 7: just gonna hand it to you. You got to earn
- 29:08Speaker 7: it so they'll they understand. So for Christmas, one of
- 29:12Speaker 7: my sons got all a's. I said, man, go pick
- 29:14Speaker 7: what you want. So he come back with the Tesla.
- 29:19Speaker 7: I said, you better take your ass frush straight to
- 29:21Speaker 7: the chargers. You better get you a charger. I ain't
- 29:25Speaker 7: getting no by fucking tesla, no dog, better get you
- 29:32Speaker 7: a charger. The V six at that, I get the
- 29:34Speaker 7: hell cat. You don't get the hell Cat.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question cuz you're a very
- 29:41Speaker 2: observant person and you make investments based off of the
- 29:43Speaker 2: things that you observe.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Ring.
- 29:46Speaker 2: You were early invested in Ring, and it's an interesting story.
- 29:50Speaker 6: So can you tell that story?
- 29:52Speaker 7: So this is the first time I'm not living like
- 29:54Speaker 7: a spoiled bread I love Atlanta. These are my people.
- 29:58Speaker 7: I live amongst the people, right. So I call a
- 30:02Speaker 7: security company say, hey, man, I need some cameras because
- 30:05Speaker 7: people are still crazy now. So I said, I need
- 30:08Speaker 7: some cameras. So the dude comes to the house eighty thousand.
- 30:15Speaker 7: I'm not paying no motherfucking eighty thousand.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Be there.
- 30:19Speaker 7: Call another company sixty five thousand. I'm not paying that either.
- 30:27Speaker 7: So I go to best Buy. I'm getting TV and
- 30:29Speaker 7: stuff at the house and I see this little ring camera.
- 30:32Speaker 7: And the crazy thing about it is I hooked it
- 30:34Speaker 7: up myself. I put it on the door. I forgot
- 30:36Speaker 7: about it. I'm weigh in China, me and my man Rock,
- 30:40Speaker 7: we're doing like this. You know, if there's this thing
- 30:42Speaker 7: in China and somebody rings a bell and I'm talking
- 30:45Speaker 7: to him. I was like, damn, my people don't know
- 30:47Speaker 7: about this. So I went to the conference. I told
- 30:50Speaker 7: the guy, said, hey, my name is Shaquille O'Neil. I
- 30:53Speaker 7: want to invest in your company, and you're gonna pay
- 30:56Speaker 7: me to do commercials. And then whatever happens happened. So
- 31:00Speaker 7: I invested some money in it, and then the year later,
- 31:03Speaker 7: Jeff was about the company.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I make us.
- 31:05Speaker 7: Look, it's good for us. It's affordable security that that
- 31:10Speaker 7: really works. I mean, just think about my other security
- 31:14Speaker 7: in my other house. I paid a lot of money
- 31:15Speaker 7: for it. They don't call the phone you can't see
- 31:19Speaker 7: who's who's you know, doing what? So I actually like
- 31:23Speaker 7: this guy. I was like, you know what I want
- 31:25Speaker 7: to invest in. You know he did.
- 31:27Speaker 2: How much did Jeff Bezos by the company for your
- 31:29Speaker 2: cool billion?
- 31:30Speaker 8: A cool billion billion billion would be congrats on that one.
- 31:37Speaker 5: I didn't get that money.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Early investor as an early investor.
- 31:42Speaker 6: Another another story that you told me when I.
- 31:46Speaker 7: Get a billion dollars, I'm gonna start walking around with
- 31:48Speaker 7: those shoes on. Motherfucker toes just out.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Shot shot, shot, shot shot. This picture is on the
- 31:57Speaker 3: Internet of your toe.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 31:59Speaker 3: You can't do that.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Toes just gonna be out.
- 32:03Speaker 6: You had you halfway there. You got sway sway loafers,
- 32:06Speaker 6: halfway halfway there.
- 32:07Speaker 5: My shoes.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I like the shoes like this, We like to shoes like.
- 32:14Speaker 3: It's the toes that I'm concerned about.
- 32:16Speaker 5: My toes ugly as hell.
- 32:18Speaker 3: The word, respectfully, probably the worst.
- 32:21Speaker 5: I've never seen my ship bad. I know it.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Playing with the Great Kobe Bryant, they.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Got to happen. The god the cameras on his feet.
- 32:38Speaker 5: They put, Oh you don't want to see my toes?
- 32:40Speaker 8: No, no, no, yo zoomnom.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I thought it was a photoshop the first time I saw.
- 32:57Speaker 5: My ship terrible. Damn.
- 33:02Speaker 6: Can't I see some things you cannot see?
- 33:04Speaker 8: You can'not see that? No, that might that's your leasure. First.
- 33:09Speaker 8: I'm not sure if that was a tone down or what.
- 33:11Speaker 8: The ugly feet, so what billionaire feet?
- 33:15Speaker 6: Shack playing?
- 33:16Speaker 7: My feet looked better than them ugly short You got
- 33:19Speaker 7: on you about that?
- 33:22Speaker 5: I thought I wasn't gonna come back. Huh huh, what's
- 33:31Speaker 5: wrong with them? Don't let him do that?
- 33:32Speaker 3: Shout it? Yeah, stopp laughing, y'all. That's my brother. Stopped laughing, y'all.
- 33:35Speaker 5: What's happening?
- 33:36Speaker 6: He thought about that?
- 33:37Speaker 5: He thought about that? Shaky at?
- 33:39Speaker 6: What's shaky?
- 33:40Speaker 5: When you need him?
- 33:42Speaker 6: Shaky?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Where you aat?
- 33:44Speaker 6: I got?
- 33:45Speaker 2: I got reinforcements, man nah.
- 33:49Speaker 6: Playing playing, playing with the Great Kobe Bryant.
- 33:53Speaker 2: And as far as his work ethic, what did you
- 33:57Speaker 2: learn from playing and seeing somebody? He's so focused, so determine, Uh,
- 34:03Speaker 2: what did you learn from that? And with's some lessons
- 34:06Speaker 2: that you can kind of give the people here because
- 34:08Speaker 2: you played with him, and you as a teammate and
- 34:10Speaker 2: you were a friend of his.
- 34:11Speaker 7: When I say I didn't learn anything from him, I
- 34:13Speaker 7: don't mean that in a disrespectful way, because every CEO
- 34:17Speaker 7: in here has their own route, right. You don't have
- 34:20Speaker 7: to follow my route. You got to follow your route.
- 34:23Speaker 7: Kobe was different, like he worked, work, work, work, work,
- 34:27Speaker 7: work or work I work, go to the club, work,
- 34:34Speaker 7: go to the mall, work in people's DM work like this.
- 34:41Speaker 7: But he just right work. That ain't me, but the
- 34:48Speaker 7: way he did it was just Our mentors were similar.
- 34:53Speaker 7: He wanted to be the best ever. I didn't want
- 34:56Speaker 7: to be the best ever. I wanted to be the
- 34:57Speaker 7: most dominant ever. So he but he worked, he worked,
- 35:02Speaker 7: did he work, And I'm glad he did because I
- 35:05Speaker 7: definitely wouldn't have got three without him. I know that, right.
- 35:14Speaker 7: And the last five brothers that was up here, they're
- 35:19Speaker 7: all CEOs, right, but you know why they all get
- 35:22Speaker 7: along one word respect. So I'm sure they have arguments
- 35:28Speaker 7: or beefs or whatever. But as long as the respect
- 35:31Speaker 7: is there, the success will always be there. We had
- 35:34Speaker 7: our differences. He wanted to shoot. I'm like, nah, don't shoot.
- 35:37Speaker 7: Throw it to me.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Respectfully.
- 35:41Speaker 7: True story. We in Massis square guard. I'm at the
- 35:44Speaker 7: free throw line. Halle Berry's walking down the steps. I
- 35:49Speaker 7: had to call a time out, huddle up, Hey, Holly,
- 35:58Speaker 7: here to see me. Don't nobody shoot mother fuck up
- 36:00Speaker 7: at me, Kobe, nobody, No, she hit shoot shoot shoot
- 36:06Speaker 7: that ship and see what happened? One two, three, break
- 36:18Speaker 7: And I made the first one, so I thought I was.
- 36:20Speaker 7: I was like shit, I made it. I missed the
- 36:28Speaker 7: second one, though, but we always just that was our argument.
- 36:34Speaker 7: I shoot, you shoot. That's because you got two CEOs
- 36:38Speaker 7: on the same team. And he was definitely a CEO,
- 36:42Speaker 7: the way he thought, the way he played, and that's
- 36:44Speaker 7: why he's one of the greatest ever. And again I'm
- 36:47Speaker 7: glad I was. I'm glad I was a part of that.
- 36:50Speaker 7: But each individual CEO has their own route. Like the
- 36:58Speaker 7: way he did it is cool. The way I did
- 37:00Speaker 7: it is cool, but you have to create your own route.
- 37:03Speaker 7: Like he never went to the club. I got to
- 37:05Speaker 7: go to the club when I come to. Like when
- 37:08Speaker 7: we was in l a and I'm coming to the Atlanta.
- 37:10Speaker 7: We got a night off, Magic City, Baby, make.
- 37:15Speaker 5: It rain, make it right.
- 37:18Speaker 7: What you think I'm gonna just sit in the room,
- 37:20Speaker 7: No I'm not and focus on the game.
- 37:23Speaker 5: No I'm not.
- 37:26Speaker 7: You know why I got the kembab my tumbo guarden me,
- 37:29Speaker 7: I ain't got to do nothing for that.
- 37:32Speaker 5: What I said, chicken alert, I ain't worry about that.
- 37:39Speaker 8: Speak speaking of Kobe when I when I think of
- 37:41Speaker 8: one of your greatest highlights, it's the crossover at the
- 37:44Speaker 8: top of the key out of you that sends out
- 37:45Speaker 8: to the finals. I want to know what, in your perspective,
- 37:50Speaker 8: what is your greatest highlighting business that's far What's something
- 37:54Speaker 8: that you look at and say, you know what, this
- 37:56Speaker 8: is incredible.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I'm so proud that I did this.
- 37:59Speaker 7: I don't like to seem like I'm bragging. What I'm
- 38:03Speaker 7: gonna ask you a question. Who owns who owns Marilyn Monroe?
- 38:13Speaker 7: Marylyn Monroe?
- 38:14Speaker 5: Playboy?
- 38:15Speaker 7: Who owns Elvis Presley? Who owns Forever twenty one? Who
- 38:23Speaker 7: owns J? C.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Penny Me the Deezer? Yeah, my real.
- 38:33Speaker 8: Hey, stand up for that, y'all Stop playing Stop playing.
- 38:39Speaker 5: Talk heavy talk heavy My real.
- 38:42Speaker 8: Talk to talk to.
- 38:46Speaker 7: So my real business, my real business is our own
- 38:50Speaker 7: fifty brands. So when I was retiring, I'm looking around,
- 38:56Speaker 7: I'm like, how does Michael Jackson and all these guys
- 38:58Speaker 7: live forever? So one of the chapters in the book
- 39:01Speaker 7: Joint Ventureship. So I called the three companies that help
- 39:05Speaker 7: people live forever, and they brought my band for a
- 39:08Speaker 7: lot of money. So I took half that money put
- 39:10Speaker 7: it back in the company. Now I'm the number two
- 39:12Speaker 7: guy in the company. Instead of taking all that money
- 39:15Speaker 7: and just saying, okay, you control fifty percent of my brand, Nope,
- 39:19Speaker 7: I'm gonna put it back in just in case, because
- 39:23Speaker 7: you always got to keep an eye on them, right.
- 39:25Speaker 7: They could have they could have bought my brand and
- 39:27Speaker 7: made me go away, But I'm like, nope, put money
- 39:29Speaker 7: back in the company. Now I own all those other brands.
- 39:32Speaker 7: So if Shot goes away, ship, we still got Elvis.
- 39:38Speaker 7: You ain't nothing butter don't. So that That's how I
- 39:44Speaker 7: was looking at it. Y'all want to see my toes again?
- 39:47Speaker 7: All that throw your toes in the air and away with.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Talk, heavy talk before we leave. I want to, I
- 39:57Speaker 2: want to. I want to end this vibe. You had
- 40:01Speaker 2: the honor of sitting down with a lot of great people.
- 40:03Speaker 2: You uhould do music. You got a bag from music.
- 40:06Speaker 2: But you said that the late great Christopher Wallace, notorious Big.
- 40:10Speaker 2: You had the honor of him doing a song with
- 40:13Speaker 2: you and you say afterwards, your eight And he was
- 40:17Speaker 2: telling you about his dreams, about what he wanted to
- 40:20Speaker 2: do in business, what he wanted to do on entrepreneurship, fatherhood.
- 40:24Speaker 6: He never got a chance to do that. He was
- 40:27Speaker 6: killed when he was twenty four years old.
- 40:29Speaker 2: So people here, can you talk about that and what's
- 40:32Speaker 2: the importance of living for today, taking action today because
- 40:38Speaker 2: tomorrow's not promise, and.
- 40:40Speaker 7: Living for today you take advantage of all opportunities. I
- 40:46Speaker 7: like rapping. I'm not a rapper, right, I know this,
- 40:51Speaker 7: So I go on the on Citio Hall show. I
- 40:54Speaker 7: like being different. I don't want to just come in
- 40:56Speaker 7: a suit and talk. So I say, yo, let me
- 40:58Speaker 7: rap up. My favorite rapper at the time was ful Shnaking.
- 41:03Speaker 7: I killed it. So the next day my agent said,
- 41:06Speaker 7: hey man, these guys want to give you a record deal.
- 41:09Speaker 7: Like now, I'm not interested. Ten million for three albums. Shit,
- 41:12Speaker 7: I'll take it. I'll take it. But then I said,
- 41:17Speaker 7: you know what, they not gonna like me rapping by myself.
- 41:20Speaker 7: Tell him I want to rap it all my favorite rapper,
- 41:23Speaker 7: my favorite rappers. They agreed to it. So I get
- 41:26Speaker 7: a song called you Can Sop the Rain and I'm
- 41:30Speaker 7: riding in the car. I already got my verse done,
- 41:33Speaker 7: and Biggie says my name, I'm slamming brothers like Shaquille,
- 41:36Speaker 7: and I'm like, even though I'm in shock, I'm still
- 41:38Speaker 7: a kid and a fan, I'm a regular person. I'm like, damn,
- 41:41Speaker 7: Biggie know who I am. So I have somebody contact Puff.
- 41:45Speaker 7: I send the jet to go get Biggie. He comes down.
- 41:48Speaker 7: So now I'm like, this is Biggie. I already got
- 41:50Speaker 7: my verse done. And Biggie say, my shit is terrible.
- 41:53Speaker 7: I'm gonna be devastated. So I'm like, and I hit
- 42:00Speaker 7: playing big. He's like, so then I said, yo, here's
- 42:06Speaker 7: a pin in the pad, because I had the studio
- 42:08Speaker 7: at the house pinning in the pad. I'm gonna be
- 42:11Speaker 7: in the house. Let me know when you get done.
- 42:13Speaker 7: He said, no, I'm ready. Now I say what you mean.
- 42:16Speaker 7: He goes in the booth killed it. But it was
- 42:19Speaker 7: real raid and r and I was like, big.
- 42:24Speaker 3: I gotta sell this in Walmart.
- 42:27Speaker 7: I hated to do it too. He said, oh, yeah,
- 42:29Speaker 7: the kids kids, my bad, and then he went and
- 42:31Speaker 7: spit the other verse. But it was just it was
- 42:34Speaker 7: just amazing. And then he was a cool guy. Went
- 42:36Speaker 7: in the house and ate got on the sea. Dude,
- 42:38Speaker 7: he just told me all his dreams. I told him
- 42:41Speaker 7: all my seekers. I told him how to get it done.
- 42:43Speaker 7: And then the next time I see him was the
- 42:45Speaker 7: night before he passed away. He was a good brother.
- 42:48Speaker 7: But moral of the story is take advantage of all
- 42:51Speaker 7: opportunities right now today.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Can we got one more question? Yeah, go ahead, all right,
- 42:57Speaker 2: bonus round. It's called bonus round. It's called the So
- 43:01Speaker 2: we hate a lot of entertainers and athletes they get robbed.
- 43:06Speaker 2: We heard an unfortunate situation with Fatcho. I saw God,
- 43:08Speaker 2: We interviewed them. They give access to that business managers,
- 43:12Speaker 2: they give access to the accountants to pay their bills
- 43:14Speaker 2: for them and all of that.
- 43:15Speaker 6: You learned that early on.
- 43:17Speaker 2: As far as the power of attorney in college, and
- 43:19Speaker 2: you say you're not with that, explain.
- 43:21Speaker 7: That you have to have education to know what you're
- 43:24Speaker 7: looking at. See what I'm saying. So I have the
- 43:27Speaker 7: education to when I feel like I'm getting robbed, I
- 43:30Speaker 7: can go look at the books be like what is
- 43:32Speaker 7: this like. If you don't have education and you put
- 43:36Speaker 7: trust in somebody else, then they can tell you whatever.
- 43:39Speaker 7: So you know, like when I say educate yourself, you
- 43:42Speaker 7: don't have to have a degree. Look at that book,
- 43:45Speaker 7: dummies got how to start your business learn learn about
- 43:48Speaker 7: assets and liabilities, learn about you know what I'm saying,
- 43:51Speaker 7: learn about you know, debts and credit dudes and don'ts.
- 43:55Speaker 7: So that's the first thing I wanted to do. I
- 43:58Speaker 7: got the book. Then I got my bachelor, then I
- 44:00Speaker 7: got my master's. Because every time I go set up
- 44:03Speaker 7: a meeting to be me and my white boys, like
- 44:05Speaker 7: the people be like, hey, shak, how you doing, and
- 44:07Speaker 7: then they turn and start talking to my white boys,
- 44:10Speaker 7: but they don't know I'm in charge. The white boys
- 44:12Speaker 7: were for me. So I said, okay, I got it, y'all.
- 44:15Speaker 7: Don't think I know what I'm talking about. Win got
- 44:18Speaker 7: my masters. So now everybody talk to me, and you
- 44:21Speaker 7: just have to be educated to know what you're looking at.
- 44:24Speaker 5: It's okay to have somebody pay your bills.
- 44:26Speaker 7: But like me, I get something every first and at
- 44:29Speaker 7: fifteenth and it comes straight to my office, which is
- 44:32Speaker 7: my phone. So I go up the room. I like
- 44:35Speaker 7: that hookah up and I'm looking, hey, man, what's happening?
- 44:44Speaker 7: We only saw how many pieces last week. Now, man,
- 44:48Speaker 7: you need to fix you like I know what I'm
- 44:49Speaker 7: looking at. Like again, I can't say we sold a
- 44:52Speaker 7: thousand pieces and then we only sold twenty. No, no, no,
- 44:55Speaker 7: no no, something's wrong with that picture. Let me see you.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Your toes, glass boy.
- 45:04Speaker 7: We're talking about my toe glass boy.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Gotta gott I got you, Oh, Shock, Man, it's been
- 45:23Speaker 2: an honor, a pleasure.
- 45:24Speaker 6: I gotta. My son really wanted to come.
- 45:26Speaker 5: I got a question, huh are you light skin of
- 45:29Speaker 5: brown skin?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Oh?
- 45:30Speaker 5: Hey go here go yeah, because here I'm glad that
- 45:34Speaker 5: shot this son.
- 45:34Speaker 7: All the brown skin homies put your hand up, you
- 45:38Speaker 7: light skin cats, think y'all high y'all niggas ain't hot.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Dark skinned, brown skin. We run this. We run this, Yo,
- 45:52Speaker 5: Play some drake? Better not playing? No drake?
- 45:54Speaker 6: What drake on?
- 45:56Speaker 5: Play some biggie.
- 45:57Speaker 2: We only leave it if drake Come on, Shack, I
- 46:00Speaker 2: gotta ask you what last ding My son loves. He's
- 46:03Speaker 2: ten years old, and I'm like, how you know Shock?
- 46:05Speaker 5: I could tell he like he got pretty lips, pretty team.
- 46:08Speaker 8: Hey you got that shot Shock, that's fuse.
- 46:17Speaker 5: Tell me about pretty boy?
- 46:21Speaker 4: Yo?
- 46:22Speaker 5: I hate you pretty.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Oh my son, my son loves Shack and I'm like,
- 46:30Speaker 2: how you know Shock?
- 46:30Speaker 6: He's ten years old. He's like, Shocking the fool.
- 46:33Speaker 2: So he wanted to come, but he had to stay
- 46:35Speaker 2: in New York for my cousin's graduation. But he's like,
- 46:38Speaker 2: can you just give me a shout out? His name
- 46:40Speaker 2: is not Sid, can you give him a shout out?
- 46:43Speaker 2: Not Si, It like nas, not.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Sir Uncle Shaq.
- 46:46Speaker 7: Want to say, listen to your father, listen to your mama,
- 46:49Speaker 7: and always follow your dreams.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Away.
- 46:54Speaker 8: Give it up for the Big Adam Stottle, the Big
