A 48-year-old con artist, Jeremie Andrew Sowerby, just pleaded guilty to running multi-million-dollar investment scams from 2017 to 2023, swindling hundreds of victims out of over $7.5 million. He sold fake crypto mining rigs and ran a fraudulent hedge fund scheme via Justice Capital, with one victim losing $200K alone. Facing up to 30 million in restitution and possible 20 years in prison, Sowerby’s crimes impacted at least 150 people across 12 shell companies — and the FBI is still hunting down more victims.
