- 0:00Speaker 1: It's hearn it what the prayers party. I am Sherry
- 0:03Speaker 1: Mackie at his time right now. Four Today's word be
- 0:07Speaker 1: the smile of God. Jacob said, please, if you can
- 0:10Speaker 1: find it in your heart to welcome me, accept these gifts.
- 0:14Speaker 1: When I saw your face, it was as the face
- 0:17Speaker 1: of God smiling on me. Yea, There's something so powerful
- 0:22Speaker 1: about being able to see the goodness of God through
- 0:25Speaker 1: another person. And Genesis thirty three, Jacob was returning home
- 0:29Speaker 1: after many years away. He had wronged his brother Esau,
- 0:32Speaker 1: deceived their father and taking the blessing that Esau believed
- 0:36Speaker 1: belonged to him. Jacob had every reason to be afraid
- 0:39Speaker 1: of Esau and how he would respond, But instead of revenge,
- 0:43Speaker 1: Esau showed mercy. Instead of bitterness, he offered forgiveness. Instead
- 0:47Speaker 1: of making Jacob pay for the past, Esau welcomed him.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Jacob looked at his brother and said, in essence, when
- 0:54Speaker 1: I saw your face, it was like seeing the face
- 0:57Speaker 1: of God smiling on me. A powerful picture of what
- 1:02Speaker 1: it means to be the smile of God. And here's
- 1:05Speaker 1: something we need to remember. People are watching how we
- 1:08Speaker 1: respond to those who have hurt us. Our children are
- 1:11Speaker 1: watching our families are watching, our friends are watching. Sometimes
- 1:15Speaker 1: we think the greatest lesson we teach our children come
- 1:18Speaker 1: from what we say, But some of the most powerful
- 1:21Speaker 1: lessons come from what they see us do. They see
- 1:25Speaker 1: how we respond when somebody disappoints us. They see whether
- 1:29Speaker 1: we hold a grudge or extend grace. They see whether
- 1:32Speaker 1: we gossip about people who have hurt us, or pay
- 1:35Speaker 1: or pray for them. They see whether we seek revenge
- 1:39Speaker 1: or choose forgiveness, And those examples become a part of
- 1:42Speaker 1: their understanding of how they're supposed to treat people. Joseph
- 1:46Speaker 1: had every reason to be bitter. His brothers had betrayed him,
- 1:50Speaker 1: thrown them into a pit, and sold them into slavery.
- 1:53Speaker 1: He endured years of hardship because of what they did
- 1:56Speaker 1: to him. Yet when Joseph finally had the power to
- 1:59Speaker 1: punish them, he chose mercy instead. He didn't pretend that
- 2:02Speaker 1: what they did was right. He simply refused to allow
- 2:05Speaker 1: their wrong to determine his response. Joseph became the smile
- 2:10Speaker 1: of God. And perhaps God has given you an opportunity
- 2:13Speaker 1: to do the same. Maybe somebody has hurt you, maybe
- 2:16Speaker 1: they don't deserve your kindness. Maybe they haven't apologized or
- 2:20Speaker 1: acknowledged what they did, but remember, mercy isn't always about
- 2:23Speaker 1: what they deserve. Sometimes is about who you are becoming.
- 2:27Speaker 1: When you choose forgiveness, you break the cycle. When you
- 2:30Speaker 1: choose kindness, you demonstrate strength. When you refuse to retaliate,
- 2:34Speaker 1: you show the people watching that God's love can be
- 2:37Speaker 1: greater than the pain we've experienced. You may never know
- 2:41Speaker 1: who is learning from your example, So today, ask God
- 2:45Speaker 1: to help you be his smile. Let your face, your words,
- 2:49Speaker 1: your attitude, and your actions reflect His grace. Someone may
- 2:53Speaker 1: encounter the goodness of God simply because they encountered you.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Be the person who makes someone feel that great is
- 3:00Speaker 1: still possible. Be the person who shows that forgiveness is
- 3:03Speaker 1: stronger than revenge. Be the person who allows others to
- 3:07Speaker 1: see through you the smile of God. Father. Thank you,
- 3:11Speaker 1: Thank you for all the time that you've shown us mercy, grace,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and kindness when we didn't deserve it. Thank you for
- 3:16Speaker 1: loving us through our mistakes and for forgiving us when
- 3:20Speaker 1: we fall in short. Help us to extend that same
- 3:23Speaker 1: grace to others. Give us the strength to forgive those
- 3:26Speaker 1: who have hurt us. And the wisdom to respond with
- 3:29Speaker 1: kindness instead of bitterness. Oh God, help us to remember
- 3:33Speaker 1: that someone is always watching our example, especially the people
- 3:37Speaker 1: that we love the most. Let our lives teach others
- 3:41Speaker 1: what your love looks like. God. Let our words bring healing,
- 3:45Speaker 1: our actions bring peace in our lives. Reflect your goodness Father,
- 3:50Speaker 1: Make us your smile today in Jesus' name. That's your
- 3:53Speaker 1: word for today. Take and applied to your everyday life,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and you continue to be encouraged and inspired. It's your
- 3:58Speaker 1: early morning praise party. I am Cherry Mackey.
