- 1:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, can he add ever, how long has it been?
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, was our last pod before the rally era?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was, who was, yeah, it was that long ago.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: It was before my second child showed up.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: So it's been at least five years.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_04]: So, so was it a help in their casualty?
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think we lost our hope.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_04]: So there you go.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_04]: I, I, of course, loved your pod.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_04]: We've always been like a, a sister pod, if you will.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_04]: Um, we have much more talented sister.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you guys are the much more talented sister.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_04]: I agree.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_03]: Our podcast for those who didn't listen to it was.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: Less journalistic more so talking about how attractive various quarterbacks were.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_03]: kind of that level.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there's a, there's a, there's a, you guys miss the Sam Hartman area.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_04]: That's all I'm saying.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, what a hand for man.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: That guy.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_04]: All right, there's there's a million things to get to I think we have to go right in to talking about why we're here we're here because Alicia is on a medical leave of absence if you will on hiatus on assignment what are we calling this.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_04]: One of those things.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_04]: She is in the chat.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_04]: She is getting well.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_04]: We've got a million emails and voice mails and text messages and Twitter DMs, all those things.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_04]: We're not going to read them all.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_04]: but thank you for for all of the love and support that Alicia's gotten.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_04]: She's overwhelmed and thankful and she appreciates you guys.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's get into this one though.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_04]: USC and Penn State
- 3:59[SPEAKER_04]: Penn State 3 and 2 two losses on the bounce started off really well.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_04]: One their first three games against the non-cons.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_04]: Only gave up 22 points in those games.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_04]: Looked good.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_04]: The defense with Dent and Lin is their new defensive coordinator.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_04]: Looked good.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_04]: Then they get into big 10 play.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_04]: They go up 17 nothing in the second quarter against Wisconsin.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_04]: Everything is right in the world.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_04]: then they blow the lead, they lose it in the fourth quarter, they go to Chicago to Evanston last week and get absolutely turtle bunked by Northwestern at the new Ryan Field, they give it 413 Russian yards and so they come in 3 and 2 and this is like a you got to have it type of game and game of desperation and then you look at the
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like, like, five and one, but I, I, do you guys think that the tenor of the, of the, of the narrative around this team feels like five and one, some on to, do you, do you think it feels like five and one?
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: No, this is the most fraudulent five and one team, I think anyone could lay eyes on, just based off of,
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: Rutgers.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think everyone really kind of lost hope and was devastated by the Rutgers performance.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: And of course the Oregon performance, I think, went a lot of the way, unfortunately, that a lot of people thought it would.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: And Washington didn't really inspire a lot of hope either.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, there's five and one writing high and there's five and one like, losses are inevitable here.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, can you your going to the game?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, what are what are the vibes for you?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_04]: Does this feel as big as the Oregon game did a couple of weeks ago because it's a big game on the road and the white out and all of the college football, like things that we love about the sports or is there like, is there worry about going to the East Coast when we know that S.C. struggles on the road?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_04]: What's in your head right now?
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I'm excited to go.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: A Whiteout came at Penn State is a bucket list game to go to for me.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm excited about that no matter what, I mean, the game has certainly lost its luster.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: All the talk this week was about the ticket prices plummeting on the secondary market this week, which I wanted to say, like,
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know, USC got all that flack in week zero for fans not attending.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it's just USC fans who stop attending when their team is not good.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_03]: That wouldn't explain this for Penn State.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, the difference is when, when S.E.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_04]: fans don't attend, it's like 30,000 at a stadium.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_04]: And when other teams don't attend, a most teams have smaller venues.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_04]: Beaver Stadium is huge though.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_04]: And like a apathy and pens at Penn State looks a lot different than apathy around here.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, to your point, like this is a conversation that every reign of every single college town is talking about.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: Some on you get a thought.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: I've been a Penn State.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: There's not really a whole lot else to do than go to a football game there.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, if people don't show up there It's also probably not getting to 103 degrees and yeah, it should be really nice weather.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to be snowy
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's early October.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, you don't have that to worry about, but I think I think people, yeah, that's a whole whole discussion.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: Do you agree?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's a hard podcast on.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_04]: The other thing is like, this is college football is a destination sport, especially because there's only six home games, six, seven home games.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_04]: six, seven home games and you only get so many of those and at Penn State I would be so fast they had to see a map of the season ticket holders.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: because I would guess the vast majority do not live within an hour.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_04]: Of state college, predominantly it's people in the Pittsburgh suburbs or the Philadelphia suburbs, or they live in Harrisburg, or Alentown, Lehigh Valley, all those type of places, right?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_04]: And so like, you're locked in, this is your trip.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: So like, state college, not having things going for them,
- 8:46[SPEAKER_04]: I don't, that might affect student attendance and stuff like that, but also like, why that game?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: It's gonna be a lot of student.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_04]: You live for this, right?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_04]: You live for this.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about the, the, the, knit knee lions, a lot of familiar over to here.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_04]: Dantlen is the new defensive coordinator.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_04]: Matt Campbell is the new head coach.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_04]: Lincoln Riley and Matt Campbell know each other quite well.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_04]: They met seven times in the big 12.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_04]: Riley owns a five and two record.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_04]: But also, it's not exactly even what Oklahoma and Iowa State were at that time.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_04]: And I was state twice.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_04]: On twice, unranked Matt Campbell, Iowa State beat a ranked Oklahoma team.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think Lincoln Riley will have that in his head.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_04]: He will have
- 9:40[SPEAKER_04]: Danton Lin in his mind of like, there will be a chess match there because he just shared the last two years with him eating lunch with him every day or whatever it is, right?
- 9:53[SPEAKER_04]: And then you get the fact that Danton Lin has not only coached against the Lincoln Riley offense back in 2023 when he was the UCLA defensive coordinator, but he knows he knows Lincoln Riley and then you add on
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: Both of these programs, I just think have so many different similarities.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_04]: You've got the history of the Rose Bowl back in 2017, the Rose Bowl in 2009.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_04]: You have both of these fan bases, angst with the NCAA for a completely different reasons.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of similarities here, so let's get into the Penn State offense.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_04]: I put together this rundown that we're working off of ton of research, I put into Penn State offense.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_04]: And like my takeaways, I don't know what to tell you.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, it is predominantly the Iowa State offense from a year ago.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: In week one, six of the 11 starters were Iowa State Cyclone transfers that Matt Campbell brought in.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_04]: Most of those guys, the skill positions quarterback Rocco back was a three year starter in Ames before he comes over to Penn State running back Carson Hanson and tight ends Benjamin Breimer.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_04]: Second team all big 12 a season ago with the cyclones, they pop in to state college.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_04]: Only one lineman is from Iowa State, but
- 11:26[SPEAKER_04]: Every skill position starter in week one, save for the backup tight end because they started in 21 personnel.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: What's from Iowa State?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_04]: So this is the Iowa State offense for all things to be considered.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_04]: What is, can you have your finger on the pulse of college football at large?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like what is your take on the Iowa State offense just, like coming into this, is, do you, would you view Iowa State and, you know, Rocco back to know those guys, is it like, uh,
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: A S tier A tier C tier where you put them on the the pecking order of prestige.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think I think I think it's telling that the first thing most people will say when they talk about Rocco Beck is he's experienced.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think that's the main thing you want said about your quarterback, but he he's been playing college football for a while.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: Um,
- 12:26[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't seen anything super impressive from him.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: I would say, and I get this Iowa State team was not an incredible team last season either.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: They were okay, you know, two years ago, they were in the big 12 championship, but the way seasons go now, that it's a very different team that's one that is now the Penn State team.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I think that the way you look at it too, like I don't think it's a bad thing that Rocco Beck's hallmark is his longevity and his experience, not like those things matter.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_04]: Um, the other side of it is he struggled this year against the big 10 teams that he's played and we're going to talk about that in a second.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_04]: But like, someone you and I are in a cultural fall 27 dynasty, right?
- 13:18[SPEAKER_04]: We were in one two years ago when cultural 25 came out.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: You had Iowa State.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: So many of these guys and Braamer like your favorite player ever ever and any video game I think any football game video football game ever played has been been Braamer He's like six seven or six eight or some freakishly tall human being that's playing tight in And if he is you know 80% of what the Washington tight ended to us and as long as we try not to do any two-hand touch with them
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: And we, you know, might have a shot at stopping him, but yeah, he's he's a legend for sure video game wise.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully he's not a legend on Saturday.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the Rocco Beck thing.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of there's a lot of similarities.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think with him in Jaden in the sense of like everybody was kind of.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: hoping to a little bit more of each and trying to see if each quarterback would take, you know, a little bit more of a step this year and it's kind of seems like this is who they are, and a lot of throwing off the back foot.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think there's a ceiling there for both guys.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: They're not going to be Caleb Williams.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_04]: You shouldn't expect them to be Caleb Williams.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_04]: The flip side of it is, Rocco back to we'll get you to the playoff.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_04]: If you put him on this Penn State team three years ago,
- 14:52[SPEAKER_04]: with all the guys that they had on the defensive side of the ball and around Drew Aller.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like, he's doing the same thing Drew Aller did if not better, right?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_04]: Like, so all of his experiences there, and I think that his ability is not why Penn Shades lost the last two games.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: But he's not, I don't think he's the guy who's going to grab the team by the scrap of the neck and pull them forward.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: They are struggling at finishing drives 15th in the big 10 in touchdown rate inside the red zone at 55% they settle for field goals a lot inside of there.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_04]: They were just two of 10 on third down against Buffalo in week three,
- 15:35[SPEAKER_04]: Once they got into Big Ten play against Wisconsin and Northwestern, they're 49th in non-garbage time available yards.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_04]: But again, that is buoyed by what they did in the non-con against Wisconsin and Northwestern last two weeks.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: They've gained just 30.9% of their available yards for context of how bad that percentage is.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: If that was their percentage for the entire season, they would be 134th in FPS, which means they're not gaining a lot of their yards.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_04]: They're not making long drives.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_04]: They're not turning long drives into points, all of those things.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_04]: And the result is, the last two weeks, points for drive 1.0 and 1.2 in Big Ten play.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_04]: You're not going to win games that way.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: You have to go all the way back to Raccoe Beck's first two
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: At Iowa State in 2023 to find a Mac Campbell lead, a Mac Campbell coached offense that had points per game totals lower than the last two weeks.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_04]: Run game, we know that it's been a mainstay for Penn State, K. Tron Allen, Nick Singleton, two guys that were there for seemingly ever, and that were great.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_04]: Nice little two headed back field, they could play off of each other,
- 16:55[SPEAKER_04]: sort of like thunder and lightning vibes, and they help drill out a lot.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_04]: The run game this year so far, sort of a struggle bus, uh, sack of just the yards per carry, two 0.6 against Northwestern, 3.7 against Wisconsin, Carson Hansen, the Iowa State transfer, got a lot of run in the first two weeks, but he's only had four carries, each of the last two,
- 17:21[SPEAKER_04]: James Peoples has sort of emerged as the number one guy.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: He had 13 yards last week against Northwestern.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_04]: Then you add in the inefficiency in the passing game where back to completing 54% of his passes in the last two weeks.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_04]: And this feels a lot like the Washington offense from a week ago that we know that SC played.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_04]: And our preview for that game,
- 17:51[SPEAKER_04]: was this is the Washington offense who is struggling mightily against the USC defense that just gave up 500 yards to Oregon, just had Rutgers score, what's 35 points and look very menacing on the road in Piscataway.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_04]: Some on Penn State's offense, struggling is USC's defense just
- 18:19[SPEAKER_04]: Or is it the other way around?
- 18:20[SPEAKER_04]: Is this Penn State defense just what the doctor ordered for a U.S.C.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_04]: defense that beat Washington a week ago and needs to build on their confidence?
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think the hope is that you get a best case of seeing what happened against Washington last week, right?
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like if if there's some sort of a disaster.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: note Trojan fight, we are not on a Penn State podcast, we used to do a USC podcast also.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: But um, that aside, um, yeah, I don't, I think, you know, I'm fortunately Trojan fans, I think it's going to be the same experiences as it was against Washington, and it's just a matter of who doesn't make the back breaking mistake of whether it's Rocco or it's Jaden, and kind of have to hope for the best there.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_03]: And I go back to when you were previewing Rutgers, you talked about right, the offense wasn't there, the turnovers were the issues and quarterback serving them up every other play, but they had, you know, some skill talent and then they showed that on display in that game, they put up a point.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, Washington didn't prep a lot of points, but I tend to think of that more as, that's just what Washington's offense is.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: And oh, USC's defense took a big step forward.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: Now what that means for this game is if this is just what Penn State's offense is,
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: if our defense can hold teams to that, I do think in some ways that's an improvement instead of everyone getting their highlight real plays off against us.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and also you have to add in the home road splits where SEC's defense is better.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_04]: If SEC's everything is better at home, right?
- 20:00[SPEAKER_04]: And so even though last week was a struggle at times for the Trojans, they needed a defensive touchdown to take the lead in all those sort of things.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_04]: that same game, if that same game happens on Saturday, I think like you take that 1,000 times over because it's on the road and it's the defense like,
- 20:26[SPEAKER_04]: holding Washington to their averages at home, if they did that on the road to Penn State, I think that would be helpful.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_04]: And then can he go and offer what you said about Rutgers having the elite guys, KJ tough, right?
- 20:38[SPEAKER_04]: A guy who easily could suit up in the NFL right now, Penn State doesn't have that guy.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_04]: Kobe Howard, their top receiver through the first couple of weeks.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_04]: He got injured, hasn't played last two games, probably not going to play.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: The
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: the injury reports.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_04]: I think it is out.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_04]: At least in the chats, pop in with the, with the injury reports stuff.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_04]: But he could be that difference maker, but if he's not in there, like that, I think alter things.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_04]: So that makes it difficult.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_04]: And then I was talking to my good friend, Tim Tallinn,
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: said that like the offense shouldn't be fueled by a softballer, wider receiver, being the guy to save him.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that SCX sort of has that same thought about Trent Mosley.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: And luckily for the churches, I think there's a lot of guys around Trent Mosley.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_04]: So his departure isn't the same way, injury-wise.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about the USC offense and the Penn State defense,
- 21:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's Danlin.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: We know what Danlin's going to do.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: You know it to expect great on third downs at times.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_04]: struggle with with the pressure, struggle to get pressure, didn't let million plays of pressure at UCLA a few years ago, but didn't really have the front seven making havoc plays, the last two seasons at SC.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_04]: And the sort of the same thing is carried on to Penn State.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_04]: First three games, though, great.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_04]: 22 points, they allowed, they held Marshall, Temple, and Buffalo all
- 22:28[SPEAKER_04]: You love that.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_04]: You love a defensive performance that way against Wisconsin, things kind of changed.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: And against Northwestern, things really changed.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_04]: 413 Russian yards for the Wildcats on Friday night, the opening of their new stadium.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_04]: I think I think you can expect a new stadium bump.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't think that 413 yards is that bump?
- 22:53[SPEAKER_04]: I think the new stadium bump is like a late to a last second field goal win or something for Northwestern.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_03]: Also though Northwestern gave Indiana all they could handle.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, home.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: Northwestern might just be a really good team.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's so weird.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: We're, I mean, this is saddened some ways.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're halfway through our regular season.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're in week, we're in week six now or five.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: Six.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: Six.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_04]: Six.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_04]: Six.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_04]: Six.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, game seven.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: games seven.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we're in week six.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_03]: There's still so much unknown.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like even at this halfway point.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, especially pronounced in the SEC, where it's all misses the best team ever.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I fought as the best team ever.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Mazoon is terrible.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, wait, actually they are amazing.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_03]: And like it's been wilder swings there, but I think the big ten has this weird thing of like
- 23:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oregon and USC who are preseason darlings both kind of fall, what really, Oregon, USC, Michigan, Penn State, Washington, all are not what they were supposed to be.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: And then you get your Wisconsin, you get your Northwestern especially, you get your Nebraska who none of those teams are ranked, but.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_03]: who've just kind of steadily been looking at the part.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's interesting now.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a week where I think we'll find out, we'll get a lot more clarity, obviously, which will happen every week going forward now.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_03]: But it's weird judging because going into this game in the preseason, all the talk was, well Penn State will be on the feed it obviously.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the schedule is in the world.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_04]: This is why talking about the schedule and predicting games at the beginning of the season is so difficult because it's not usually, like, things change, like 2016, a season that we talk about where we thought that that was going to be a brutal November for the Trojans because they got Washington and Oregon and UCLA and Notre Dame and three of those teams had losing records.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_03]: And I can argue, this seems like it's set up to be a 2016 in a lot of ways with Oregon taking that Oklahoma state loss, Washington not looking good at all, Penn State not looking good at all.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_03]: Suddenly, the schedule looks much less scary.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_03]: Now, the problem is USC hasn't stepped up to fill that void.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_03]: They've also taken that step back, which is unfortunate.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, when you look at a rushing performance among like Northwestern against Penn State, what can S.E.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_04]: get from that?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_04]: Because the Wildcats had six rashes of 20 plus yards last week.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_04]: I was looking at the numbers.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_04]: I was thinking, I didn't watch the game.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I was thinking, OK, there's no way for an 13 yards looks less bad for what it's worth.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm like, OK, maybe they had like 399 yard runs.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_04]: No, like it's a bunch of 30s and 20s and 40s and 10s, like 12 runs of 10 plus, 6 runs of 20 plus.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_04]: For context three years ago, 2023, Penn State allowed seven runs of 20 place, 20 runs for the entire season.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_04]: Six against Northwestern.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_04]: That same year, Dayton Lynn.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_04]: current defensive coordinator right now for Penn State was the defensive coordinator for UCLA, they allowed to.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_04]: And Penn State allowed six last week.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_04]: So do you feel better about USC's run game?
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: Well, we saw King Miller and women Jordan last week sort of be scrappy and have success at times, especially in short yardage, but they struggled to really find open lanes.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like there's a bit of a chip Kelly Renaissance happening in Evanston where he's become really creative with their own game.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that Lincoln Riley is that creative with the run game anymore.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think everyone knows it's
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: the GT counter is the bread and butter, and really about execution for the Lincoln-Riley offense.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: The offensive line grades again, Washington weren't great, so you would have to hope that it's not just a schematic thing, that Chip Kelly was able to pull off, that it is a talent thing, that the USC Online can step up and make holes for the running backs.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we talk about beefy king Miller, he's, you know, bulkier and maybe that's kind of helped his, his usage because he's been getting 15 plus carries a game and pretty easily it seems like.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that probably helps there, but I feel like his exposiveness has gone.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_02]: So you, you kind of lose a lot of that those kind of trunk plays.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: He did have one last week, right.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: again, it's another one of those that it's kind of tough to say.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: You would hope that you're really hoping that there's some improvement from the offense of why and then how they were versus Washington.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, part of me thinks that it's more going to be more of a schematic thing that Chip Kelly was able to do eight in child.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is a better runner than Jade Mayava.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's not, he's not legally the pastor that jade my ava is for sure, but I think, you know, those different sort of aspects, what do you, when you don't really have to stop worry about the quarterback on the run and makes a little bit easier to stop the run on defense speaking, but, you know, something interesting for, well, we'll get to the defense later, but I have a lot about the defense, but yeah, that's kind of my thought there on the run game.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, I'm with you, especially like the King Miller thing, like him beefing up.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that that effects his overall play, but yeah, I think it does affect the home runs that he hit last year, especially at the beginning of the season.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_04]: That's what put him on the map where all those super long runs earlier on the season, week one, week two, week three, and we haven't seen those.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I don't think you need explosive place like super explosive place here.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_04]: You just need like you'll take not having a 20 art for a few tens.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I mean, like you need consistency and being able to run in this game.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_04]: I think is the canary in the coal mine.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_04]: If SC runs for 150 arts to 200 to 200 yards, they win the game.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_04]: If they don't.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_04]: you run into a lot of problems because then your dimensionality changes, that link and then absolutely know what's coming forward with the past game, you can try to drop back in.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like all those things change, you have to be able to run the ball against this Penn State team.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about the past defense for the Netanyahuians third nationally in defensive passer rating.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: they're good.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think the problem is this is a lot like Minnesota from two years ago or Nebraska from last year where you look at the numbers and you're like, yeah, but they haven't played anybody that would test them through the air.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: So it's hard to tell the best quarterback that Wisconsin has faced that is a passer, probably Colton Joseph.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_04]: They picked them off three times.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: And so.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: Or the runner, too, isn't it?
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_04]: And him and child are guys that are not worthy because of their legs, right?
- 30:45[SPEAKER_03]: And so I mean, receiving cars.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_03]: Would you put any of those?
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_03]: To USC's?
- 30:50[SPEAKER_04]: No, not at all.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_04]: So like,
- 30:52[SPEAKER_04]: On the one hand, I don't know what that, like I don't know that you can expect this to be elite on elites because Penn State's past defenses is ultimately unproven against a offense as potentially potent as SES.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_04]: On the other hand, we said this about Minnesota in 2024.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_04]: We said
- 31:22[SPEAKER_04]: those that passed the fence that did not play anybody and had really great numbers in the big 10.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely was as advertised.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think that you can just assume that just because they played nobody means that as you can go in there and walk to this, especially when you're going up against a defensive coordinator that
- 31:44[SPEAKER_04]: as senior place.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the last time he was defensive coordinator against Lincoln Riley, yeah, completely shut down the Williams offense.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but so he did have an NFL caliber defensive
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: mindman on his team at UCLA.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not forget that.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and if we're talking personnel for Penn State, I think the danger man is Tony Rojas at at linebacker 34 tackles so far this year seven and a half tackles for loss three sacks two picks.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: He's there do everything linebacker.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_04]: He's the linebacker you wish that Lynn had the last two years.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_04]: He's the linebacker you wish SC had right now.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: But
- 32:27[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know that there's an out-noted pass-wester.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: If on Kamajoo at Defense Events, two tackles for loss, a sack, Caleb Bacon has a couple of sacks, but like in week one, he did have some pressure last week against Northwestern, so that's a guy to keep an eye on, but
- 32:49[SPEAKER_04]: their skill position guys on on defense are sort of the the dudes to be mindful of a Davian Collins at corner seven passbreak up.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that goes back to, you know, the past defense, they might not have played anybody, but there's guys there in pass coverage that can be disruptive.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_04]: probably more so than Minnesota and Nebraska had the last two seasons.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_04]: You mentioned, you guys mentioned the the 2023 SC UCLA game.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_04]: Dan Lynn completely boxed up the SC run game in that game.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_04]: SC at three yards on the ground three.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Caleb Williams is a runner, and yes, he was sack four times, but like you even look at Martian Lloyd and Austin Jones, they had 23 yards combined on 14 carries in that game.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_04]: Like Caleb Williams does for 384 yards, but like it's, it was a lot of empty calories, and I think that if you're dead in this game.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_04]: You would like fight your hand off for that.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's like the the way to beat SC.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think is to stop the run and don't allow the big play in the past game.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_04]: And kind of way to out, especially on the road, you wait out and jade my avapick that is untimely.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the thing going with all this talk about, you know, have they seen an offense like USC's, that USC offense on the road is a different beast.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, the two times that I think SC's offense has been really good on the road, the Illinois loss last year, a game that they still lost.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_04]: And then I think there were times brief times in the Michigan game on the road two years ago.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_04]: The numbers in that game all told, not great, but there were times in the second half, where I see was productive in a game that they had to scrap for, and they still lost that game too.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I think there were times even in Watson last year.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: that they could run exactly.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_04]: The Minnesota game, they were, they moved the ball really well in that game.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_04]: It was the one stop, untimely stop, and then the two point conversion from Minnesota that really hurt them.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_04]: But
- 35:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Simon, what more do you make of the Penn State defense going up against this U.S.E.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_04]: offense?
- 35:28[SPEAKER_04]: We know that injury reports, updates, Trent Mosley, Trell Anderson, Mark Bowman, all questionable as passed.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_03]: And you know what questionable means?
- 35:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we, questionable is, is not probable.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_04]: I will say that was there anybody last week that was questionable that played?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_04]: At least, see if you're in the chat, block that in the chat, but Hayden Treader on the offensive line, questionable as well.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: So I think you just have to assume that those guys are not going to be available and there'll be a bonus if they are.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I worry, there's, you know, I was listening to the Fallout episode and there was a, I think, a caller or a comment said Jaden's top three of its top five targets were out, and this is Washington, reading reading Alicia's notes here in the chat, you know, with,
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: with mostly being out and there's not that interesting caught a lot of balls next last week but um you wonder two of the you know that kind of rears it's ugly head again and then if if Kaelan Kaelan or Kaelan Miller is is ready King's brother is ready for the challenge to to replace treated because it sounds like treated is going to be out.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: um you know it Lincoln's going to have to be creative without being
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: galaxy brain, and I think that becomes difficult for him if he works down especially.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: If it's two point conversion choices where any indication of how galaxy brain he got, but yeah, you know, S.E.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: needs to run the ball to to to win.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, it's whether it's whether it's king, whether it's it's white with whether it's
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: On the road, you got to be able to run the ball to kind of take the take the air out of the stadium and it locks a lot.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, the amongst play action looks RPO action.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, there's got to be the run games got to show up.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: Does it have to show up to your point, Michael of 400 plus yards?
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: If you get over 150, you're probably in good shape.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it doesn't have to come from one guy.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: It could be a few guys.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see more Riley warmly if the straight runs aren't working if you're getting him more.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: more in space and letting him, you know, using him as an extension of the run in terms of passcatching, that would be great.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it adds another dimension of the offense.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: I love those two back sets that Hemman also and her and her and her and her and I think it adds another dimension of the offense that gives the defense something to think about.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: Now what they need to make sure of, and I think it happened it was either on a third or a fourth down is that they can't just
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: give Riley warmly the ball when he's on the field right they got to get a run action off of it to make sure they're going to other places and because I think towards the end of the Washington came there, the Washington defense was king on warmly when he was on the field.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm really curious what happens if we get into strictly a chess match.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_04]: If this is a close game, I think everyone's expecting it to be right like you know.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_04]: Who benefits in that chess patch because like I think it could absolutely be the he I know that he knows that I know that he knows kind of situation and like we've we've seen it in critical moments where like Lincoln Riley's offense is incredible in terms of preparation for what they are like what the install is yeah and like the system is good.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_04]: In those key moments, I think it can get tricky and not always be there, like the 2.0 conversions last week against Washington prime example of that.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_04]: In a spot where like you're going up against Aunt Lynn is, is Aunt Lynn the, does he counteract that a little bit where like he has to go up against like the, the what could like can Riley do like I don't know.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_04]: Like there's, there's a little chess game there.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_04]: Can, can he, who do you have more confidence in as a coordinator?
- 40:01[SPEAKER_04]: Riley or Lynn in those, it's fourth and two, fourth and two game on the line.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_04]: Who do you have more confidence in?
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say, okay, see, well, this could get complicated because my my thought is, do I have the best Riley offense and the best way in defense?
- 40:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's fair because I would take Riley, I think, in that.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if we're saying personnel is all equal.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I think I'm taking Riley in that.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: I do still think he knows how to coordinate an offense really well.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_03]: Danton Lynn and interviews this week was talking about that he just has plays.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_03]: That is how he phrased it.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: He just has plays and it'll just dial that up in that moment.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I think,
- 40:57[SPEAKER_03]: My thought is to lean Riley there, but it's counteracted by, again, Riley has a habit of getting away from the run, even when it is working.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I worry if it's not working, that's what can quickly lead to disaster here.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_03]: And not, we saw it three years ago.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_03]: You can be inevitable, my other turnover.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we saw it three years ago, we were able to Caleb Williams like quarterback, right?
- 41:21[SPEAKER_04]: But if you're one dimensional, I think that makes things so much easier for Danton Lin there.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_04]: And then the other side of it is like, I've mentioned this before, but like, I, as a means to both improve me talking about U.S.E.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_04]: football and a podcast, but also be better at college with Paul 27.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: There's like a bunch of like real world coach seminar workshop kind of things where it's like college coaches talking to high school coaches talking like to the high school coach association of Louisiana or whatever and it's Lincoln Riley talking for an hour.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: Go find those videos on YouTube, it's not just like every coach does this, they're fascinated.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think you learn a lot of the process of how the reads and the progressions and everything and one of the things that Lincoln Riley talked about is to go back to your point, Kenny, about like the Lincoln just has place thing is you want to be able to run your bread and butter
- 42:32[SPEAKER_04]: So well that you can go to that in the key moments more often than not so you don't have to go to your bag of Oh, should I need the perfect play call here moments because like even the best coordinators not going to win all of those those decisions right and then you add on the stress of like oh now I'm facing the defensive coordinator who knows me like all those things you you want to avoid that you want to make sure that why cross.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: is working in the first quarter and the fourth quarter no matter what and I know you love across some of them love love love a good white cross absolutely yeah I think to your point even you know the bread and butter of it all
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: While the running game wasn't explosive, it was still productive even in short yardage, so what do you think that a run a simple run play, you can give a look that makes a defense think a little bit and still run the ball.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_02]: If you think you're going to win in that short yard
- 43:36[SPEAKER_02]: worth calling.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: It is a discussion that you already had, so I'm not going to go into that, but you got to be able to believe in what you draw up and what your team can execute too, because when you start doing new stuff and in pressure areas that a lot can go wrong, there's a lot of chatter in the chat, chatter in the chat, there we go, about, you know,
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think Alicia brought it up and then a few others have kind of back or her opinion of players kind of execute.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, either poorly or well on the road and if you over complicate stuff that leaves it to stuff where players aren't comfortable running it, you're also opening up yourself for more issues, I think.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: So you know, any human being is confident in what they know how to do, right?
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so I think Larry in the chat I think is a Penn State fan and talking about like the wide-out conditions about how this affects SC we're in the over under we're trying to get to in a minute here I do have a thing about the penalty spoiler alert so we're going to get to that but that's a factor with SC's offense given how many times they shot themselves in the foot a week ago with penalties given the Illinois game last year
- 44:57[SPEAKER_04]: They drew up that flea flicker that works too.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it was so nice.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_04]: Perfection.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_04]: But there was an illegal man down field.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_04]: And like you can't have those things break when your play that you've baked into the game plan all week works to have it taken away because of some either procedural penalty or some like
- 45:24[SPEAKER_04]: lack of attention to detail is brutal um let's get to over under um
- 45:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm pulling up the, we have a, a slight snaffer with, with the thing you get to see the back end really quick.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: This is, this is totally breaking the fourth wall.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_04]: Where is sling there?
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: Sting have a scented podcast.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: Sting have a sausage is made.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, you know, also it pretended game seven because this game seven for USA.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_04]: All right, let's get let's go to the the first over under.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_04]: At least you want to pop the the link in the chat appreciate that and you guys can can join us in the chat play along if you listen to us audio only of course the link is in the show notes first over under.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: 119 and a half.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_04]: 119 and a half, U.S.C.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: Russian yards.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_04]: Under Lincoln Riley, the Trojans are averaging 119.3.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_04]: Her game in the six road games in the eastern time zone.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_04]: a little bit of a triple split there, but take it for what it's worse worth 119.3.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_04]: Penn State just allowed 413 to Northwestern, but as seen the last two weeks, 118 they've averaged against Washington and Oregon in the run game.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_04]: Let's say you, Kenny, about 119 Russian yards over under.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to take the under here.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_03]: I just, I, the running game actually has been the most disappointing thing about the offense to me this early part of the season, or maybe not so early anymore, we're halfway through.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_03]: But that has been the most disappointing thing to me.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_03]: I remember even even like in the Fresno State game, and again, some of these group of sex schools not being very impressed with what we were seeing there.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: So unfortunately, I am taking me under there.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_04]: I just killed the spider.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, what did it write on this?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_03]: If you're, if you're just listening to the audio, like, I'm trying to look to the side.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, is it that you're a craftin?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well done, Michael.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_04]: It was crawling on the mic.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_02]: This is, wow.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_03]: For those of you that don't know, I feel like me.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought they just really are right.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_03]: I thought you really disagreed with me.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my god, that was terrifying, dude.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, bring, bring, put his back on the runway here.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: To that's asking a lot.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but no, I, I, I'm going to go with over and I'm not saying, oh, like I said earlier, not 400 yards over.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: I, I think like we get to 150, call it a day there.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: Um,
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: You can't give up 420 plus or 413 and then just suddenly give up 300 yards less.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: There's gotta be some things.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: I might be optimistic, which is very odd for me to be optimistic about this whole thing.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_02]: But I think you, I think 119, I think I'm going to go with the over.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: I also just think we're going to try to air it out though.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_04]: I, yeah, I could, I could see that again, the he knows that I know that he knows that I know thing where like they struggled to stop the run, well then we're going to give him the past they're not expecting this like the yeah there could be there could be some of that I'm going to take the over as well strictly because like I, I.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_04]: think the middle ground here is probably where this is.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I think this is close to this line, but a little bit over.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think this is gonna be a game where SC runs for 250.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_04]: If they do, they win the game.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_04]: If they run for 250, I don't think that this is a game where they run for a 40.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_04]: If they do, they lose the game.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's probably going to be in the middle, which is going to be the, maybe the frustrating thing from a canary in the coal mine thing earlier about like this being the stat to know whether or not SC is going to ultimately have success.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_04]: But I sort of like SC like 120 to 130.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_04]: So just barely over and maybe that maybe that's a lot like last week where there's one long run that like boosts the averages a little bit.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, one, one, 19 and a half.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going over on USC rushing yards, at least see it by the way, it's chimed in with the over as well.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: We have all of our picks and our rundown, which is which is great.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, next one, over under three and a half Caden Dixon Wyatt, uh, Hatches last week, he had zero after averaging five per game, the first five games of the season.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, some on what gives is he going to be a big factor in in this game or was last week a sign that maybe without Trent Mosley and Mark Bowman there, the he can sort of be the guy that you double triple quadruple.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: six double team you all unsurprisingly made a salient point that can can is the fact that Katie W was the number one effectively last week did that affect how teams operated against him was he's simply just a beneficiary of everything else that was around him um that's the question that's you know that's the it's not a million dollar question we'll call it like a thousand dollar
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: He's proven to be a dynamic player out wide.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Lincoln's going to find a way to get him the ball even if it's like maybe get him going on bubbles, but, you know, I think, I think, you know, I think he gets over three and a half.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking the over as well.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_04]: Same, same vibe, sure.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think that was the aberration.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna take the over as well, strictly because I do sort of lean your way, Kenny, on the, like, I think that they might really try to make the pass go on the road, which might not be the most prudent way to go, but also you factor in if this game goes the opposite way.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_04]: S.C. struggles.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_04]: There is no pass.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_04]: There is no run game against Dan Linn's defense in 2023.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_04]: Killboyom's through for 384 yards.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_04]: So like there's a world in which it's just throwing underneath to Cadendix and Wyatt and to no kines.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_04]: And those guys underneath Booby Feaster.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_04]: Like there's a world where that is the reality too.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_04]: Um, so I'm gonna take the over uh, I don't know that it's necessarily hugely over, but like to go back to your point some on like I don't think He nicks and why it like benefited from all those other guys around as much as all those other guys around like mostly and and and Bowman being in there Just helps distribute the defense so much better and mostly because like kidnicks and why this make is made incredible plays
- 53:09[SPEAKER_04]: in all of those first five games.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_04]: So like it's not like he was just being the open man.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_04]: He was he was working for those catches too, which does give me hope that like I think in a moment where might have a need to trust somebody to throw a ball up.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: Knews and Wyatt's probably the guy who would go up and get down with them.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and KDW headed touchdown last week that was called back, right?
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: So like that's that's very much to
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little boring that we all picked over, but, you know, it's fine.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_02]: I guess we're helping for a good thing here.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, at least it picked over as well.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's go to the next one over under 0.5 USC 2.0 conversion attempts.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_04]: Jordan said two last week against Washington, they didn't get either one of them.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_04]: Both of them with Jonas Williams at quarterback.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_04]: To make of that what you will.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_04]: Over under one and I, sorry, over and under 0.5, 2.1 conversion, will USC attempt the 2.1 conversion in this game?
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think those were both so disastrous.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's what they were saying, but that doesn't mean they won't try it not with a backup quarterback or like in a desperation, you know, towards the end, I'm spoiler, I'm expecting this to be a close game.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_03]: So I, I'm going to say over, I think there'll be at least one, some month.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_02]: uh i'm gonna say under i really hope there are no two point conversions this week just give me give me just touchdowns and field goals i don't want to do like a version it's it's so gross i don't want it i can't i don't wish that upon anybody no football fans should have to watch two point conversions out the way
- 55:02[SPEAKER_04]: What if he does the the chip Kelly thing and gets the ball to start the game because of course goes down the field and does a 10 play 75 yard drive and then goes for two to go up eight nothing when you would you take that.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to call the right player to go a bit.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_04]: You never know.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_04]: You never know.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_04]: I'm taking the over, I'm with Kenny.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like I think that this is going to be a close game and close games mean decisions.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe that's a decision that I think everyone can get around with a green or maybe it's not.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_04]: And maybe it's going to be one in the car cast that you know, everyone in the chat.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_04]: saying they shouldn't have gone for it.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_04]: We're going to see that's what close games bring three more four and a half penalties for the U.S.E.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_04]: offense over under S.C. had seven last week against Washington.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_04]: They were super, super costly.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_04]: Only two against Oregon, but five last time out on the road in Piscadaway against Rutgers, Simone, where are you?
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: I've never slammed the over more on any question in my entire life.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the hostile environment, the wide out, the environment, the propensity to, you know, people over each other's feet, you know, this team will just do anything to hurt itself.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't really, I don't have faith in the USC offense or team to be calm in this sort of environment, so I'm going to go with way over here.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, in this environment, I probably would have taken this even in a neutral site game, but I'm 100% taking me over.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_04]: Are you taking over on five and a half?
- 56:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think I still would.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_04]: I just got to be like, they did putting the line of phone out.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: You could have said it at nine and a half.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I was starting to think.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_03]: There's going to be so many it's going to be an entertaining game.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: I struggled to put this line because like my head is like five and a half is just way too hard.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like statistically that is an insane number of penalties on offense.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_04]: Like it's to assume in just in any game, even the head 7 last week.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_04]: But then you're like, but they had to have in last week.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_04]: Also,
- 57:30[SPEAKER_04]: It's the most hostile environment that they're going to play this year at all, like absolutely like Larry in the chat said like they're there will be a fall start at least one of them if not for them.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_04]: So expect those.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_04]: That's over for me.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_04]: Second to last one, penultimate Luke Wafel tackles for loss not sex.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_04]: We're going tackles for loss.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_04]: What point?
- 57:54[SPEAKER_03]: We had different answer for sex.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it would be.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_04]: 1.5 Luke Wafel tackles for loss.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_04]: He had two last week against Washington.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_04]: Can he do two again is the question.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_04]: He would have had three last week if not for a face mask penalty that negated a huge sack of answers would have been his career first.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_04]: That was so boneheaded, but I have a heart like very costly, but also like in that moment, like you're just in a trying to think moment.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_04]: I would rather him commit that penalty than a late hit.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, even though like it was super costly given how they hurt a lot.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I would how it played out.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_04]: Kenny, where where are you on this end?
- 58:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know what, I'll, I'll be optimistic here and I'll take it over.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_04]: Optimistic, uh, actually, I think it was an optimistic, Kenny.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_04]: Come on, where where where are you?
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: I, I am the resident, Luke Wafel.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_02]: an impressed person.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go I'm going to go I'm going to go under and you know I it's I could be cool because he's still a freshman.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've I've called him Cory Foreman a couple of times which is probably me it's a low in the same take into
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't have a good feeling about it.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think with the G-Day Potentially out because I think he's one of the doubtfuls or whatever the death now not out.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's listed a special question both.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you
- 59:37[SPEAKER_02]: And then when Samarins not 100% either, I think that makes it a little bit easier to kind of have the offensive strategy focus on neutralizing wafer, so I'm going to go at the end of there.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_04]: I
- 59:57[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to go under, but I think it could be one of those things where, like, I think it's under, but I think he can still be disruptive without getting the over and maybe he gets one tackle for loss that is still impactful or something, but look, I imagine his family's going to be there.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_04]: He's somewhat close to home, not as close to home as he was over at work
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_04]: his region.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_04]: Last one.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_04]: Last one is over under three hundred and nineteen and a half Penn State total yards.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_04]: If you did tell me before the season that'd be setting the line for Penn State total yards at three hundred and nineteen and a half I'd say in the first half.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_04]: But no, total, because SCL out 319 a week ago, to Washington, a similar offense in terms of inefficiency that SC faced a week ago, and UW's first four games of the season, being a struggle fast and offense coming into it, like Penn State's the last couple of weeks in Big Ten Play.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_04]: Penn State last two weeks, 248 yards, 291 yards,
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_04]: so they were way under that 319 and a half.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_04]: Of course, this is a U.S. defense.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_04]: They gave up 504 to Oregon two weeks ago and 460 to Rutgers on the road three weeks ago.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_04]: Some on.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_04]: Where are you?
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_02]: 400 plus for Penn State.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking the over it's the U.S.C.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_02]: defense.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you take the over.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_02]: So what I'm curious about what happens here actually is does Gary sit upstairs again or is he down on the field because it's on the road and it's loud so that that's going to be interesting for me as a viewer to see where they put Gary.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_04]: Huh, I didn't factor in the loud fact like this the how much are they going to crank up the the
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_04]: on that on the C2P.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_04]: Like, like, how?
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_04]: You probably, he probably can still talk to Desmond Stevens, right?
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_02]: We can probably get in there.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want that.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Desmond Stevens is back for this week.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, great.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's all.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yay.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, wherever he can keep an eye on him.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to take the over just because 319, like, I think I see can still give up 340 and feel good about this.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_04]: And so like there's just so many possibilities.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_04]: The spectrum is so huge that I'm going to take the over because it just seems more likely it'll be over the under.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_02]: If we give up under 300 yards, if this is a double digital win for USC, like that's like best case scenario.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_04]: They gave up 319 to Washington last week at home, and it wasn't a double digital win.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm saying if they do it on, if they do it on the road, yeah, it's good, it's good night.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_04]: You would, you would hope so.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise, it's maybe it's one of those seven to four big 10 games.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_04]: With, yeah, a big flow offensive production.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_04]: All right, Vegas Bread, Penn State by one and a half FBI projection, Penn State 30, USC 29.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_04]: You guys are our SP plus stands, or a big fan of Bill C.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_02]: Love Bill C. What what was the the projection for that to month the projection is a USC by point six, but the projected score rounded is a tie at 28 28 28 that sounds right.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah incredible incredible.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_04]: Kenny you're going to be at the game.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be there.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_04]: What what what are you expecting to see?
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_03]: Expecting to see some points, I think these offenses are going to get there's, uh, I think we'll see, I think we were talking about earlier.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_03]: I think USC is going to commit to passing.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think despite I hope we're see some good running, but I think they're going to commit to that.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's been their strength.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_03]: They stick with their strength.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, this is a road game.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_03]: It's a game where USC is not favored.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not a ball game.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_03]: If it was a bull game, you would see sometimes wins, despite not being favored.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_03]: But until there's some evidence to the contrary, I gotta go with what the team has shown over and over that they are, and I have Penn State winning a close one, let's say, 31, 28.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, wrong button.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_04]: They are who got they were.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_04]: There we go.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_04]: All right, that's a high score in a fair 3831.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_04]: So, Mon, what do you feel in?
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_02]: In a rare turn of events, I'm going to say USC ones this game.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's like a 20 award to 18 win photo charges.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_04]: I hate you, because you have access to this rundown.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know what my prediction is about to be.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: Did you see that earlier?
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly did not see that.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so sorry.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's close.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm at 2319.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_04]: So it's right there.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_04]: The same four point margin.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_04]: I'm at 2319 because there'll be a two point conversion somewhere.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: a birthday or something.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but you're picking Penn State.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_04]: I have ever been Penn State winning this for the Kenny reasons.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_04]: I have Penn State winning this 2319 for the Kenny reasons of like we we haven't seen a proof of concept of essay going on the road in a situation like this in a winning.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_04]: The only one that you can point to is Nebraska a year ago.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_04]: Now, we're the Nebraska game and this game have something
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_04]: You.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_03]: It was at, I was at Nebraska.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_04]: So maybe you're at the good.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll try to bring the luck again.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_04]: I, my, my, my honest takeaway about everything over here is like, this is a game where I think on a neutral fields.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_04]: You think you should be able to win this and a neutral field.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_04]: I think SC is like a five point favorite.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_04]: on the road, I think that changes drastically because we know what the home road splits are for the Trojans.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's on them, it's on the guys in the cardinal goal jersey.
- 1:07:00[SPEAKER_04]: It's on the coaching staff to prove that wrong.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_04]: And you hope that they do.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_04]: And if they go and win this game and they win it in a way that is
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_04]: You know instilling confidence for the next game at Wisconsin like that's a that's the best case scenario is go out when the game by 7 to 10 points Field like you you managed everything well and then go to Madison in two weeks That's what you hope happens
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just going to reserve a thought there.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_04]: So 2319 Penn State is what I have.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_04]: Some on has SC20418.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_04]: Kenny 3128.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_04]: And Alicia's chimed in with 2724 Penn State.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_02]: If you're on close, if you're on close.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_02]: If USC wins by a score, is anyone actually satisfied?
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: This brings up something I wanted to discuss.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_03]: So, sorry for a just leaping into discussion, but so we all know like, okay, what would make people happy with this season?
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, but they went out.
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_03]: They go 11 and 1, they're in the playoff, all that.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_03]: What is your minimum?
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_03]: Where you'd say, you know, that was a good season.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_04]: Minimum?
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, is it nine and three, but you lose to Ohio State and Indiana?
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, kind of a chalk problem.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_04]: And and look competitive in those games.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, or at least one of those games like competitive against Ohio State.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I mean, in a sense, that to me shows there wasn't really growth from last season.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_04]: That's fair.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_04]: That's fair.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_04]: But it's a, then you'd look at the schedule thing.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_04]: I've been like, that was a schedule coin flip.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_04]: Which is the same thing last year, too.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_04]: Like, they, they didn't have to play in the end our year ago.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_04]: If they had to play in the end of last year, instead of Northwestern, they're right and four.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_04]: Like, like that, that, that, that changes things.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_04]: Somalia, you wanted to chime in?
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think the schedule is definitely more difficult than last year.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think the record while being the same as last year, I think if you say they look, if you're losing by, you know, well, they already lost by 14 to Oregon, right?
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_02]: So you gotta, you gotta hope for 10 or less versus Ohio said Indiana.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think going chalk again is is is is is is doing that two years in a row.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think at least shows a semblance of consistency, which it shows that the floor is is high right.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, which is the floor at least is in a good place.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the ceiling to be higher.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think 93 mate bike get this team into the playoff.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, it's depending on how things break out.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's been so cannibalistic over in SEC country.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_03]: I could see it.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, at least he is in the chat makes a good point.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, you see, you will find out a lot more about you see this weekend.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but yeah, I mean, at UCLA, this is kind of what we always hope for that rivalry to be is to competitive teams that that last year, but, but with that comes a bigger challenge.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_04]: Um, Jessica and the chat says, I would take a one point win at this point.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_04]: I'm of the mindset that like,
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think that the criticisms after the Washington game were justified, where we a little reactionary in the carcass, sure, to an extent, sure, it's the heat of the moment and everything.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_04]: Um, but I think like those criticisms were like justified in like SC criticism to the the the talk around that game having said that I think if you had that same exact game.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_04]: In state college on the road.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 100% a road game is a completely different beast.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, for SC, like it shouldn't be that way for most teams, but for SC, given how the home road splits are and given that this is a wide out.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_04]: And it's a Penn State team with the back against the wall, which means they're either going to be super fired up or flat, one of the two.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_04]: And if you get the super fired up one, then you got to you got to deal with that.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_04]: You got to deal with that.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I can think of the Nebraska game last year.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think if that was a home game, I don't think it's nearly a satisfying.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it was because we got the monkey off our back.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_04]: Exactly.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_04]: And, you know, I think, and it would have been more satisfying if Rayola would have been in the whole game and all those kind of things.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_03]: But well, we got to see what happened there.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_04]: That was a time when there was a quarterback change.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_04]: And fortunately, that somehow worked in an S.E.s favor.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_04]: Um, you don't, you don't want to see anyone get hurt.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_04]: So we, we hope that Rockaway Beck doesn't get hurt.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_04]: We hope that in my oven gets hurt.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_04]: We hope nobody gets hurt.
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_04]: We hope that
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's a, there's a super chat from Tim in LA.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like and he says, uh, USC does the Penn State with Michael did the spider.
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for the super chat, Tim.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_04]: I, I need to like clip that or something.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_04]: And like watch it back.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_04]: I got a, I got a text from from my best friend.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_04]: Shout out, John, and everybody watching.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_04]: Camper Confidence, killing a spider, emoji with a spider and emoji with a spider web.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_03]: Good, I love it.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so yeah, we survived.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_04]: He mentions this because literally last year, I was driving with him in the car and there was a spider inside the car crawling across the windshield.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_04]: that was like an inch.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_04]: It was like an inch across like it was a big boy that was like a like fluorescent.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_04]: It looked like a glow in the dark thing and then the daytime, you know?
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like what those look like?
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_04]: horrifying.
- 1:13:41[SPEAKER_04]: I nearly crashed the car and killed the song.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I, I, I, I, I did wouldn't worth it to get rid of the fighters.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_04]: We, we, we, we made it home there.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_04]: We made it home here without a lacy on the pod.
- 1:13:52[SPEAKER_04]: So I want to thank you guys for, for coming on.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_04]: We will have you guys back more here during the season because you're like, do my favorite people ever.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_03]: And so for us, again, we haven't potted together and I don't even know how long it years.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_04]: So it's it's been a while.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:14:14[SPEAKER_04]: Any any final words, Simone?
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_04]: I hope I'm right.
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_02]: Considering I don't know.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I don't know.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:14:26[SPEAKER_02]: But there was an honor to be to be back.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_02]: There was no way Kenny and I could ever
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_02]: do any sort of level of service that Alicia does to this does for this show.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think any of those good.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_03]: Um, um, we, but we, we think.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_03]: So you want to Lisa for KHD becoming, me becoming a part of that was part of a conversation we all were having.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this is true.
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm the reason that that can anybody come upon, Kester.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_03]: true.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_03]: So like a permanent.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_03]: You know who to blame.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_04]: We all miss the blue two ads.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, this is the best.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_04]: I started going to the BYU game, and I was driving with my mom in the car, listening to your SCBYU preview.
- 1:15:17[SPEAKER_04]: We're like, I think we're driving through like bar store or on the way to the Provo, and the Bluetooth ad comes on, and I wanted to die.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_04]: Did you ever see that?
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but can you do you have a minor word and I hope that you have like the freaking greatest trip, because I think that going to a white out is absolutely a bucket list, call a triple.
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's gonna be awesome.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm so excited for it.
- 1:16:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm also excited.
- 1:16:04[SPEAKER_03]: I am a huge roller coaster fanatic and so I'm staying in Harrisburg and then there's a little group of us going to Hershey Park
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_02]: Nice, um, quick, quick, quick, Kenny, Kenny, and a, and a goat here.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_02]: Kenny gifted my children a book about roller coasters and they both love it, and it's very cool.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_04]: I, I, I love that.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_04]: I sent Kenny TikToks when when they come into my feed into my FYP about a roller coaster and it'll be like someone talking about like, this B&M is actually very smooth, but but not rattling like this.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_03]: of newer coasters.
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think they fixed on the really this dive, but it's been an issue.
- 1:16:56[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and the call, right?
- 1:16:59[SPEAKER_03]: RIP to that.
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_03]: RIP to X2 and Southern California recently.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, Michael always sent me stuff that's like no one would ever go on this.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I want to go on that right now.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_04]: I like watching roller coaster YouTube where someone's in the front row.
- 1:17:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, that's a great.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_04]: And like recording as long as there's no loops, I can't do the loop.
- 1:17:21[SPEAKER_04]: There's the loop and I immediately need you to use the right there.
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_03]: Can you do heights?
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_04]: I can do heights, especially on video.
- 1:17:29[SPEAKER_04]: I can do heights, yeah, no problem.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_04]: But my legs hit a little weak, sure, but like I would literally get sick if there's loops like I can't wait.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_04]: Grand Theft Auto because all the camera movement like makes me sick.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_03]: Can you watch like found footage movies and theaters are now?
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's a struggle.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_04]: So one of our favorite games or favorite YouTube's which
- 1:17:56[SPEAKER_04]: Lisa's sitting over there.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_04]: I hope that she's down to watch the JetLag finale tonight, which I'm guessing the answer is going to be no, but we'll see later.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_04]: I love JetLag so much.
- 1:18:08[SPEAKER_04]: They fill net show on their phones and sometimes they are running.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_04]: And sometimes it's like, oh, I can't, I can't look at the screen.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_04]: I cannot look at the screen.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, this this this was great.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_04]: You guys are the best and hit the hit the link in the in the chats.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_04]: for the overunder in the show notes.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_04]: And once again, thank you for all of the feedback and support for LACS.
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_04]: She appreciates everything.
- 1:18:41[SPEAKER_04]: We didn't get into all the mailbox stuff that we got.
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_04]: But she's read it all.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_04]: She appreciates it and she loves you guys.
- 1:18:48[SPEAKER_04]: And she'll be back as soon as we can.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_04]: And I'll be back Saturday.
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_04]: So low car cast.
- 1:18:55[SPEAKER_04]: So low car cast, hopefully with no spiders on the windshield.
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I hope.
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_03]: I hope there's more space.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_03]: Are you going to go into your car to do it?
- 1:19:04[SPEAKER_04]: I've thought about like, it would be cool if we got a green screen.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, just to put like the stupid background that they have on.
- 1:19:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like, there's a few things to come.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:19:17[SPEAKER_04]: It's like so obvious that there's city in front of a projector.
- 1:19:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_04]: All right.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_04]: We will see you guys next time until then.
- 1:19:28[SPEAKER_04]: We will see you.
- 1:19:29[SPEAKER_04]: See you.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:19:31[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for having us, Michael.
