- 0:43Speaker 3: Jennifer Delando and today I have a very special guest,
- 0:47Speaker 3: Vanessa Gordon. She is the founder of east It's East
- 0:52Speaker 3: End Taste, east End Taste Eastern Taste magazine. And she
- 0:56Speaker 3: is a event coordinator. She's a mom, she's a bus
- 1:00Speaker 3: this woman, she is all around a phenomenal woman. And
- 1:03Speaker 3: I'm so happy to have you here today. Thank you,
- 1:05Speaker 3: welcome to my show.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited to.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Be here I'm happy to have you here, So tell
- 1:10Speaker 3: us a little bit about yourself and tell us about
- 1:12Speaker 3: the magazine and your events.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Sure, so starting with the magazine, so I founded it.
- 1:18Speaker 4: It's so funny as it was, truly, as they say,
- 1:20Speaker 4: a passion.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Project, if you will.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I have a background in teaching English as a second
- 1:24Speaker 4: language and freelance writing.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But I wanted something to call.
- 1:29Speaker 3: To teach me English as my first language. I have
- 1:34Speaker 3: every having Brooklyn accent, I get correct on.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Of course.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Yeah, no, let's see, so all encompassing with my freelance
- 1:44Speaker 4: writing background and teaching, and you know, my daughter was
- 1:48Speaker 4: born at the time. I wanted perhaps something to call
- 1:52Speaker 4: my own that I had control over. I didn't grasp
- 1:57Speaker 4: the concept of working for someone else very well. I mean,
- 2:00Speaker 4: you know, I never I actually do not hit hard.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I have my own business too. I hate it. I
- 2:06Speaker 3: worked for other people and I work for myself. I
- 2:08Speaker 3: much rather work for myself, even though it's harder to
- 2:10Speaker 3: work for yourself, because people think that because you're the
- 2:13Speaker 3: business owner, you work three times as hard as everybody else,
- 2:16Speaker 3: and you're there from the beginning, and you're there till
- 2:19Speaker 3: after everybody else is gone, right, and you're there and
- 2:21Speaker 3: weekends and everything else, so you must work very hard.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I don't take a day off.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And how old your daughter for you?
- 2:27Speaker 4: So she's ten now, and then I have a son
- 2:28Speaker 4: who's six as well, so I started when she was
- 2:31Speaker 4: quite young. But I it was you know, constant pitching,
- 2:34Speaker 4: constant you know, you know, delva into a creative process
- 2:38Speaker 4: that not necessarily those that you're pitching to could align
- 2:42Speaker 4: with or agree with. And it was just you feel
- 2:44Speaker 4: like you're doing so much but with no return. So
- 2:48Speaker 4: I said, I want to start something where the oly
- 2:52Speaker 4: I would say, this is the only person I could
- 2:54Speaker 4: blame is myself if I'm not executing this the right way.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So, but that's not why I start. I started because
- 3:00Speaker 2: I love what I do.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I love writing.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I love you know, putting, you know, things out there
- 3:04Speaker 4: that I love and creating perhaps a space.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I love foods all. If it's about food, it is
- 3:09Speaker 3: like it is, that's like one of my best things
- 3:12Speaker 3: in the world.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Yeah, And it started off with more food sustainability practices
- 3:18Speaker 4: and wine and you know, culture on the East End
- 3:21Speaker 4: and all that fun stuff. But then I said, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 4: you can only write so much about the region that
- 3:27Speaker 4: you live in and it's you know, technically where I live.
- 3:30Speaker 4: It's a seasonal destination. So I expanded it in twenty
- 3:33Speaker 4: eighteen to include like destinations around the world that perhaps
- 3:38Speaker 4: emulate like a Hampton's like aesthetic. Perhaps areas of Ireland,
- 3:43Speaker 4: southern Portugal, the aligar areas of Greece, Croatia, even as
- 3:48Speaker 4: far as you know, Bowen Island and you know, out
- 3:51Speaker 4: outside of Vancouver anyway, just different destinations that people perhaps
- 3:55Speaker 4: may escape to or want to go.
- 3:56Speaker 3: To, like like you said, like a Hampton The typeost.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Feel exactly Hampton's ask exactly, and I discovered them very organically.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I just was very keen on reaching out, putting myself
- 4:07Speaker 4: out there as much as I could, but being smart
- 4:11Speaker 4: about it too.
- 4:12Speaker 2: For instance, you know, if I'm not necessarily going to.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Accept a trip that's more adventure focused and off the
- 4:18Speaker 4: beaten path, that's not necessarily my you know niche so
- 4:22Speaker 4: to say, so what I got invited to do a
- 4:24Speaker 4: six week opportunity to travel through Ireland and England in
- 4:28Speaker 4: late twenty nineteen, I need to do something like that,
- 4:30Speaker 4: And it was in such self caire Its beautiful there right,
- 4:32Speaker 4: it is that is that's on my bucket list, highly
- 4:35Speaker 4: recommend So I did that through Tourism Ireland and Visit Britain,
- 4:38Speaker 4: and I curated the whole experiences. I joke, I said,
- 4:42Speaker 4: I did seventeen afternoon teas in a thirty day period,
- 4:45Speaker 4: which Iland too, they do. Yeah, they're they're into the
- 4:50Speaker 4: afternoon tea experience. They're not as well known, but it started.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Actually.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 4: I did my first trip to Ireland in September of
- 4:59Speaker 4: twenty nineteen, and I loved it.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So much I went back in November of that same year.
- 5:02Speaker 3: How's the cuisine.
- 5:04Speaker 4: It's act surprisingly very good. It's funny how I.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Have no offense to anybody from Ireland or Irish, but
- 5:12Speaker 3: it just doesn't. I mean, you don't hear about Irish cuisine,
- 5:15Speaker 3: so I don't.
- 5:16Speaker 4: I was pleasantly surprised with the seafood, quality of the
- 5:19Speaker 4: seafood and the bread, and honestly, the butter is the
- 5:23Speaker 4: best I've ever.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I mean Irish shoulder bread. If you, if you, somebody
- 5:27Speaker 3: makes it very well. It's probably the most delicious with
- 5:30Speaker 3: some butter. With the Irish butter so delicious.
- 5:35Speaker 4: That's the way, that's the way, it's the way to
- 5:36Speaker 4: go and yeah, that opened up a lot of new
- 5:39Speaker 4: opportunities and such, and you know, of course, you know
- 5:42Speaker 4: twenty twenty hit and things. You know, I decided to
- 5:46Speaker 4: just stay at home or I did a lot of
- 5:47Speaker 4: gardening that year and did.
- 5:48Speaker 2: A lot of self focus, if you will.
- 5:50Speaker 3: But then I did a lot of drinking that yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 3: I think there was so many a lot of.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I did a lot of gardening.
- 5:57Speaker 3: It was.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And then we adopted another cat year. So that's that's
- 6:01Speaker 2: our Linda.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And you have cat and you have a couple of
- 6:04Speaker 3: I had a recent so I'm so sorry.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh I appreciate you.
- 6:08Speaker 4: You meant no, yes, no, but thank you for your
- 6:11Speaker 4: contlent says, yes, that was that's Abby. We had her
- 6:14Speaker 4: for many many years and she was the rock, so
- 6:17Speaker 4: to say, of our you know, my my husband and I.
- 6:19Speaker 2: We we moved in together.
- 6:20Speaker 4: We adopted a cat, I think less than a week later,
- 6:23Speaker 4: and I'll never forget it was Abby. Who is this
- 6:24Speaker 4: lone cat in a enclosure? So I say, because she
- 6:28Speaker 4: would attack the other cats like other cats.
- 6:30Speaker 3: She was that was she ruled the roost basically to.
- 6:33Speaker 2: She did she did, And then Linda are the Catlyn
- 6:36Speaker 2: I love.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I love I named my cat's human names too. I
- 6:39Speaker 3: have Paulie and Camela, like those are my cat.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Other for, I was on a zoom call with someone
- 6:44Speaker 4: happened or it was with one of the people's named Linda.
- 6:46Speaker 4: All of a sudden, Linda starts scratching on one of
- 6:48Speaker 4: my upholstery and I said, Linda, you know, I'm so sick.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Would you cut that? She think she was corect Yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 4: And I had to literally pick up a cat.
- 6:55Speaker 2: No, this is Linda.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I think that's hysterical. I love that. I love naming
- 6:59Speaker 3: out most human names. It's funny, it's good. You know
- 7:03Speaker 3: it's a John. This is my cat John. As we
- 7:06Speaker 3: do so so tell me about like the I love
- 7:11Speaker 3: the Hamptons. I have a house in Hampton's and I
- 7:14Speaker 3: my my experience is is that, I mean, I like
- 7:18Speaker 3: Hampton Bay's much better than the other areas, the towns
- 7:21Speaker 3: of the Hamptons. I feel like it's not as I
- 7:24Speaker 3: don't want to say, I guess I do want to
- 7:26Speaker 3: say snooty. But I think it's up and come. I
- 7:28Speaker 3: think it's also now up and coming. Now Hampton Beae
- 7:31Speaker 3: is where they're opening up a lot of Michelin style
- 7:35Speaker 3: restaurants with a lot of Michigan chefs are coming, and
- 7:38Speaker 3: the Canoe, the Canoe Lounge, and I mean I love cowfish,
- 7:41Speaker 3: which is great. Please, how do you feel about like
- 7:44Speaker 3: the areas in the Hampton.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I'm actually so glad you brought up Hampton Bays. Not
- 7:47Speaker 4: only I have several friends who live in Hampton Bays,
- 7:49Speaker 4: but also what's cool is that there was there's actually
- 7:52Speaker 4: a big project.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I'm not sure if it actually went through or not
- 7:55Speaker 2: so very quickly.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I guess they're planning to do a whole right innovated
- 8:00Speaker 4: concept in in that hamlet. I want to say, it's
- 8:04Speaker 4: like an over twenty million dollars plus project. They're trying
- 8:07Speaker 4: to make Hampton base like sag Harbor. Yeah, which I'm
- 8:10Speaker 4: hoping is a success. If you got there's a new
- 8:12Speaker 4: there's a new place called the Wine Room at the Cottage.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That's that's pretty good.
- 8:16Speaker 4: There's another place, wonderful guy that I know named Mark
- 8:20Speaker 4: who owned the cottage at Hamlet Green and all of
- 8:23Speaker 4: that there.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no can new place. I have not been to
- 8:26Speaker 2: believe it up, but I'd love to.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah, get over there. It's beautiful, it's beautiful. It's I mean,
- 8:31Speaker 3: they're really building it up. I just feel like it's
- 8:33Speaker 3: so much closer to come in from the city coming
- 8:36Speaker 3: to Hampton Base, because then you have to drive. It's
- 8:39Speaker 3: like another hour or sometimes even an hour and a
- 8:42Speaker 3: half to get down like Montauk Highway just to get
- 8:44Speaker 3: to Southampton or East Hampton. So I just feel like
- 8:47Speaker 3: it's I mean, for me, I love you know, it's
- 8:50Speaker 3: easier to get there, so, but I do. I love
- 8:52Speaker 3: the Hampton It's just a different feel, it's a different vibe.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It's a different vibe. Hampton Base is definitely a different
- 8:58Speaker 3: vibe than Southampton.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Definitely, I do like escaping to Hampton Base though.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a nice area. Now Where do you Where
- 9:04Speaker 3: do you live? Where are you originally from?
- 9:05Speaker 4: I originally interesting. I originally from East Hampton. My grandparents
- 9:10Speaker 4: had a home in north Haven and then I moved
- 9:12Speaker 4: away and moved to Knockut for fifteen years. I met
- 9:14Speaker 4: my husband who's also from East Hampton and we decided
- 9:17Speaker 4: to come out east and originally we had a place
- 9:19Speaker 4: in sag Carbor and then.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I love I used to live in Sanakaba too.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, we were on Hampton Street.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I wasn't far from there, and I years ago,
- 9:29Speaker 3: I remember seeing Christy Brinkley and Billy Joel on the
- 9:32Speaker 3: beach and they were the first celebrities that actually lived
- 9:36Speaker 3: in Sakhaba. They would they I think they like started
- 9:38Speaker 3: the trend because San Kaba was more residential like people
- 9:42Speaker 3: who lived in New Hampton's lived in Sanahoba. It wasn't
- 9:44Speaker 3: like the summer place. But they kind of started the trend.
- 9:47Speaker 3: This was like an early This was like probably like
- 9:49Speaker 3: eighty eighty seven. And I used to see Christie Brinkley
- 9:53Speaker 3: on the beach where how beautiful we have little overalls
- 9:55Speaker 3: and noticed that and makeup up and breathtaking and the
- 9:59Speaker 3: nicest person like just you'd walk up, You're like, hi,
- 10:01Speaker 3: how are you? Like like You're like you're Chrissy Brinkley.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And here's Billy Joel like uptown girl, like there she is,
- 10:07Speaker 3: but yeah, nice, nice, nice people, but beautiful area. Now
- 10:12Speaker 3: that's Hampton Be's I feel like, like you said, is
- 10:15Speaker 3: up and coming, like the place to go now for sure.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Now what made you start the brunches and the and
- 10:22Speaker 3: the events that?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so totally so I started the Hampton's Interactive Brunch
- 10:26Speaker 4: in the spring of twenty eighteen. So I brought the
- 10:29Speaker 4: concept to my then event team and I said, you know,
- 10:33Speaker 4: I'd love to do an event. I've always attended in
- 10:37Speaker 4: your events. I always had a great time. And I said,
- 10:39Speaker 4: you know, if I'm going to execute it, you're the
- 10:41Speaker 4: ones I'm going to You're the individuals I'm going to
- 10:43Speaker 4: speak with it.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm so glad I did.
- 10:45Speaker 4: So with that being said, I had just a vision
- 10:47Speaker 4: of just a simple networking lunch or brunch or concept.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I think I chose brunch because I didn't see any
- 10:54Speaker 4: events that encompassed that in any way. They all were
- 10:57Speaker 4: like dinner parties, a lot of late night parties out there.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And it would really make more sense to do a
- 11:04Speaker 3: brunch there too, because it's it's summer, it's nice, you
- 11:06Speaker 3: could sit outside like so that's I mean, that would
- 11:10Speaker 3: make more sense to me to have that type of
- 11:11Speaker 3: event there definitely.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And I also chose brunch as well, so we had
- 11:15Speaker 4: the leeway, so to say, or freedom to with the
- 11:18Speaker 4: time of the event, so right, we could do like
- 11:20Speaker 4: ten thirty, eleven am all the way up to like
- 11:21Speaker 4: four five even so that was really cool. So it
- 11:26Speaker 4: was also a void in Saturday afternoon events. In addition
- 11:30Speaker 4: to that, I always like to say that the Hampton's
- 11:31Speaker 4: interactive brunches in lieu of a magazine cover party. Because
- 11:34Speaker 4: East End Taste is all digital, we noticed they have
- 11:36Speaker 4: that opportunity to get in front of people physically. So
- 11:39Speaker 4: this is our opportunity to put actually physically interact networking.
- 11:44Speaker 2: That's really that's it. And then we rotate beneficiaries every year.
- 11:47Speaker 3: How how do you now it's a sponsored event and
- 11:52Speaker 3: you also have vendors there sometimes too, because I went
- 11:55Speaker 3: to the one two years ago. Was really nice.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 11:57Speaker 3: That place was nice. No, not a lot of walking there,
- 12:00Speaker 3: so we's paying the butt it is it is out there.
- 12:05Speaker 2: We did that. We did at the same location the
- 12:07Speaker 2: fourth year.
- 12:07Speaker 4: We I ensured that there was valet because I said, guys,
- 12:10Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, you got to give us a exactly,
- 12:12Speaker 4: give us a break here.
- 12:13Speaker 3: No, totally, that place is beautiful And that was I
- 12:16Speaker 3: forgot what the place was as beautiful, beautiful And where
- 12:20Speaker 3: are you going to be having it this year?
- 12:21Speaker 2: We're having had a private estate?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Okay? And where this we can't really say where? Who
- 12:26Speaker 3: could you say what?
- 12:27Speaker 4: I can only say what after people purchase tickets that
- 12:30Speaker 4: we released the somebody famous. Uh, I would say, it's
- 12:33Speaker 4: a it's a it's it's a beautiful there'll be famous
- 12:35Speaker 4: people there for sure.
- 12:36Speaker 3: But who is going to be on the guest list?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Can you give us?
- 12:39Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, I will The only one I can,
- 12:42Speaker 4: I could say is Deborah Cox is our co host.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Oh wow, yeah, that's amazing. Yeah and what how how
- 12:49Speaker 3: the what about the vendors? What kind of vendors are
- 12:51Speaker 3: you seeing coming in? Oh? My gosh. The sponsor.
- 12:54Speaker 4: We have my Good brands, including Pietro Simone's skincare. We
- 12:59Speaker 4: have new Hydration which they're doing like B twelve shots.
- 13:04Speaker 4: We have doll Cakes who you may have seen her,
- 13:06Speaker 4: she was on the view recently, wonderful woman. I've known
- 13:08Speaker 4: her for a while and she's doing custom cakes and
- 13:12Speaker 4: cake kits with a cute little little dolls like like
- 13:15Speaker 4: barbies and the small little dolls inside really cute.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And we have the Sushi class who's doing a whole sushi.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Speeally and how long does the event?
- 13:24Speaker 4: So eleven up to three thirty, so it's a walk
- 13:26Speaker 4: through style, so it's gonna be past our derves and
- 13:28Speaker 4: such as well catered by Tulula.
- 13:30Speaker 3: You have to eat the sushi we did. Yes, yes,
- 13:33Speaker 3: can we bake? Can we bake? Or no? No baking though,
- 13:37Speaker 3: just like no, no. I wish we're gonna have an
- 13:39Speaker 3: easy bake oven there that we could bake. I don't
- 13:41Speaker 3: know if you're probably too young for this, but women,
- 13:43Speaker 3: I was a kid, I had an easy bake oven,
- 13:45Speaker 3: but I never put cake in it. I usually would
- 13:47Speaker 3: put like something that shouldn't go in there, Like I
- 13:50Speaker 3: would like melt everything in the house that should go
- 13:52Speaker 3: in there. That did you know that wasn't cake or
- 13:55Speaker 3: a pastry?
- 13:56Speaker 2: It was bad.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I would like one of those now because there used
- 13:59Speaker 3: to be a lot of to play around with. So
- 14:02Speaker 3: we can't. So we're not going to bake any cakes there.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Then not this, not this time. But yeah, it's it's
- 14:07Speaker 2: it's gonna be great. I'm just so I'm just so
- 14:09Speaker 2: so excited.
- 14:10Speaker 4: There's and then I'm you know, known for you know,
- 14:14Speaker 4: surprising people. So I always love to keep certain elements,
- 14:16Speaker 4: you know, under wraps until people arrive.
- 14:19Speaker 2: We may have some notable partying gifts.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so you gonna have a good swag bag at
- 14:23Speaker 3: the end. Oh that's So I love swag bags. That's
- 14:25Speaker 3: my face.
- 14:26Speaker 2: It's my face.
- 14:26Speaker 4: It's my favorite thing to curate put on and there's
- 14:29Speaker 4: nothing like it.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I love that. And I have to say most of
- 14:31Speaker 3: my best swag bags came from Hampton parties. I have
- 14:34Speaker 3: to say, every time I come to one to a
- 14:36Speaker 3: Hampton event, I would get such great and stuff that
- 14:38Speaker 3: like you don't always get like that, Like it's just
- 14:41Speaker 3: something that would be that you wouldn't buy for yourself,
- 14:44Speaker 3: or you would't to get for yourself. Get some good stuff.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Last time I got a I got a great curl
- 14:48Speaker 3: and iion like a beach waiver. It was like I
- 14:51Speaker 3: got something like that that was at my event. Yeah
- 14:53Speaker 3: m hm, that was a great. That was a great
- 14:55Speaker 3: I still use it. I use it all the time.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I love it. So I say I utilize my swag bag.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I just didn't throw it in the corner. And now
- 15:03Speaker 3: how is this doing all this? I mean, having young children,
- 15:07Speaker 3: it's a lot. It's gotta be rough, it's it's it's
- 15:10Speaker 3: a lot.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I'm actually looking.
- 15:11Speaker 4: I'm so glad I'm doing the event early this year,
- 15:13Speaker 4: so it'll give an opportunity to take a break.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And be with my family this summer. So I'm really
- 15:18Speaker 2: looking forward to that.
- 15:19Speaker 3: And you're gonna spend time. You're gonna be able to
- 15:21Speaker 3: stay home with them a little bit this summer.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Yeah, they're gonna being camp. They do tennis and my
- 15:25Speaker 4: son does jiu jitsu, but they'll be in camp. And
- 15:28Speaker 4: I intend to be at the beach almost every day.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Help. And because these days the kids are so involved
- 15:35Speaker 3: in so many activities, I can't even imagine having to
- 15:38Speaker 3: pick up and drop off your you guys, it's amazing
- 15:42Speaker 3: what they what they do these days. I'm like, I
- 15:44Speaker 3: would never my parents would never take me anywhere. I
- 15:48Speaker 3: would have to walk everywhere. So any event, any type
- 15:51Speaker 3: of activity I did, I would have to find my
- 15:53Speaker 3: way to get there. So today these kids do so much,
- 15:56Speaker 3: so it's probably it's probably fun to they do.
- 16:00Speaker 4: My gosh, even I just told myself I'd love to
- 16:02Speaker 4: do more than I had the opportunity to do as
- 16:04Speaker 4: a child.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And I hope they're, you know, more than satisfied.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And one and ten and sex, yes, right, those are
- 16:12Speaker 3: funny ages. They are. Oh, they're the funny ages.
- 16:15Speaker 2: They are funny.
- 16:16Speaker 3: I no more, that's it. You got your boy and
- 16:17Speaker 3: your girl, your done, boy, and girl, I'm done now.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Your baby is your maga, is your magazine.
- 16:22Speaker 4: It's my events exactly, my business and your business and
- 16:26Speaker 4: my forecats and yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But that's what you that's what you want to focus
- 16:31Speaker 3: on now too. Yes, but it's going to grow with
- 16:33Speaker 3: your family. Everything intends to grow together. Yes, you find
- 16:37Speaker 3: as as a woman in business, you know it's it's
- 16:40Speaker 3: not easy. It's not easy juggling all those jobs.
- 16:43Speaker 4: There's a lot that people don't say on the back
- 16:45Speaker 4: end that they are taken completely for granted, which you know,
- 16:50Speaker 4: so it comes all I'm the same, but I enjoy.
- 16:54Speaker 2: What it comes down to is I love what I
- 16:55Speaker 2: do so much.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And that that drives you to two to do it right.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I mean, you're gonna do if you love something. You know,
- 17:03Speaker 3: my grandma she didn't say it, but she always used
- 17:06Speaker 3: to say this quote, you'll never work a day in
- 17:08Speaker 3: the life in your life if you love what you do.
- 17:10Speaker 3: And that's so true, and if you enjoy it, then
- 17:13Speaker 3: it's it's just it's just that's just a plus if.
- 17:16Speaker 2: You get to do that right totally.
- 17:18Speaker 3: But with moms like I, most people don't realize how
- 17:21Speaker 3: hard it is to be a mother Like it is.
- 17:23Speaker 3: It is the hardest job in the world. And that
- 17:26Speaker 3: might sound so cliche and sold old fashion, but it is.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I would rather work fifty sixty hours a week that since. Seriously,
- 17:33Speaker 3: when I used to be home with my kids, I
- 17:35Speaker 3: was a better mother working. I was because when I
- 17:38Speaker 3: was home, I was like mommy dearest, like everything had
- 17:40Speaker 3: to be in place, everything, and I would be focusing
- 17:43Speaker 3: so much on that. I felt like I was better
- 17:47Speaker 3: with them when I was out at work because I
- 17:50Speaker 3: was able to spend more quality time with them, and
- 17:52Speaker 3: I was better, you know. I mean, when I was younger,
- 17:54Speaker 3: it was it was I was home a lot with them,
- 17:56Speaker 3: But when as I got older, I just I didn't
- 17:58Speaker 3: have the patience anymore. Right, once they were in school, though,
- 18:02Speaker 3: that was good. But it is. It's a hard job,
- 18:05Speaker 3: and it's not it's not recognized. You know, they don't.
- 18:08Speaker 3: You don't think about being a stay at home mom
- 18:10Speaker 3: as being it's hard. It's rough. I feel I look
- 18:13Speaker 3: at these women like, I don't know how you do it.
- 18:15Speaker 3: And then the homeschool they had kids on top of it.
- 18:18Speaker 2: That I did.
- 18:18Speaker 4: I did do that for a year with my daughter
- 18:21Speaker 4: when we traveled, she traveled me to Ireland in England
- 18:24Speaker 4: and ironically, you know, twenty twenty happened and I'm like, well,
- 18:27Speaker 4: you're already homeschool.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Oh. I mean, I think it's great for them to
- 18:32Speaker 3: have the option to do that. I mean I could
- 18:34Speaker 3: see maybe doing it with a couple of parents, but
- 18:36Speaker 3: not myself just doing it.
- 18:38Speaker 1: What I did.
- 18:39Speaker 2: It was hard.
- 18:40Speaker 3: It was hard.
- 18:41Speaker 2: It was hard.
- 18:41Speaker 4: The only thing that supplemented it was just that opportunity
- 18:43Speaker 4: for her to travel and you know, see different places.
- 18:45Speaker 4: She was learning and we were doing you know, work
- 18:48Speaker 4: and and such as we were on the trains and
- 18:51Speaker 4: airplanes and all that.
- 18:52Speaker 3: So she got this. She got to not be in
- 18:54Speaker 3: one environment. You got to be moving around with us.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So that was good because I don't know, I could
- 18:59Speaker 3: not handsley. And when during COVID was so funny. I
- 19:01Speaker 3: mean I used to forget that my daughter would be
- 19:03Speaker 3: on screen and I would walk by the camera and
- 19:06Speaker 3: be like, curse, and like, what the fuck did you do?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Go take the laundry out of the law, out of
- 19:12Speaker 3: the lord and basket and the whole classes listening to me.
- 19:15Speaker 3: When I used to do that all the time, When
- 19:16Speaker 3: during cold was so fun. She's like, Mom, the whole
- 19:19Speaker 3: class urder my teacher. And I said, ah, tell him,
- 19:21Speaker 3: tell him to let you get up and move and
- 19:23Speaker 3: put the laundry away. So yeah, I remember those days.
- 19:27Speaker 3: That was Those were I never I hope those never
- 19:29Speaker 3: happened again.
- 19:30Speaker 2: But it won't.
- 19:31Speaker 3: No, I hope not. Oh not, but I leave. But
- 19:34Speaker 3: you you are, you are doing it. You are your
- 19:37Speaker 3: your amazing woman. I mean the things that you're doing.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Oh thank you.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Is there anything else on the horizon for you besides this?
- 19:44Speaker 4: Well, I started a It's called The Hampton's Brunch Interview series,
- 19:48Speaker 4: So I'm interviewing you know, individuals, notable people over over
- 19:52Speaker 4: brunch essentially, so we would go to like different restaurants.
- 19:55Speaker 4: We might I might launch one of the episodes in
- 19:57Speaker 4: The Hampton's probably due to this summer, and then bring
- 20:00Speaker 4: it back into New York City and I'd ideally like
- 20:03Speaker 4: to bring that around the world and then develop it
- 20:06Speaker 4: into a larger project, so we'll see where it goes.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I would love to be invited to any one of
- 20:11Speaker 3: those that you do around the world, especially if you
- 20:13Speaker 3: go to Island, because I'd love to go to Island.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I love to do that, and where where is your
- 20:17Speaker 3: next that you think is going to be the next
- 20:19Speaker 3: place you're gonna go.
- 20:21Speaker 4: For travel travel, I'm actually going. I'm going to curous
- 20:24Speaker 4: Out in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna I decided,
- 20:27Speaker 4: you know what, I'm gonna take it. It was it
- 20:30Speaker 4: was another pressure of that was offered to me, and
- 20:32Speaker 4: I said, I want to go. I'm gonna go, even
- 20:34Speaker 4: though it's like literally a week before my event.
- 20:36Speaker 2: I said, it's not done. If it's not done.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Now, it's not happening to all.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'm out.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I have to do it. You have to do I
- 20:44Speaker 3: mean something like that. When you get an opportunity like that,
- 20:46Speaker 3: you gotta do it.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Exactly as far as the larger I'm going to be
- 20:49Speaker 4: traveling with a friend of mine through Italy and Spain
