- 0:21I am Jess here with Licensed Cosmetologist Delena Markland.
- 0:24Delena, be honest, is Salon quality actually different or are we just paying for the name?
- 0:29It is genuinely different but not for the reasons people think and not always more expensive.
- 0:36Salon quality is about formulation, the concentration of what actually works and whether someone
- 0:44who knows hair chose it.
- 0:46The hair finishing stick is my example.
- 0:49It is alcohol-free and cosmetologist selected, which means I picked it because of what is
- 0:53in it, not because of a trend or a pretty box.
- 0:56That is the difference, intention behind the formula.
- 0:58So how does someone spot quality without a cosmetologist standing next to them?
- 1:03Read the label, not the front of the package.
- 1:05Where do the active ingredients sit on the list, near the top or buried at the bottom under
- 1:09filler and water?
- 1:10Is it loaded with drying alcohols to fake a fast result?
- 1:13Drugstore formulas often lead with cheap fillers and a low concentration of the good stuff,
- 1:18so you use more, more often, and replace it sooner.
- 1:21Cost per use tells the real story, not the sticker price.
- 1:24Are there good drugstore products though?
- 1:26Of course, I am not snobby about it.
- 1:28There are solid drugstore picks and overpriced salon ones.
- 1:31The point is not the aisle, it is the formula.
- 1:34What I will not do is sell something I would not use on a client in my chair.
- 1:38When I say salon selected, it means it earned a place by how it performs, and that is the
- 1:42standard I hold everything in the shop too.
- 1:44Why curate instead of just stalking what is trending?
- 1:47Because trends do not care about your hair.
- 1:49I would rather carry a short list of things that actually work than a wall of products chasing
- 1:53whatever is viral this month.
- 1:55That is what a stylist brings.
- 2:03Judgment.
- 2:04The finishing stick is on the shelf because it holds without alcohol, flake, or breakdown
- 2:07full stop.
- 2:08Judge the formula, not the aisle, love it.
- 2:11The hair finishing stick is at thepixiegarden.com.
