JB: Welcome everybody back to the sports talk with JB. And I'm your host JB. And today on the show I got special guest, Rob Mm-hmm. All right, in today's episode we'll be talking New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, a little bit of the goat debate, Cleveland Brown situation. R. Randle: Thank you. JB: I'll be asking Robert to give me his top five Let's get started the show. All right Rob, first of all I'd like to thank you and welcome you to the show. I appreciate you coming on taking your time away from a good night of champions or daytime of champions. R. Randle: No problem, bruh. JB: gonna dive right in. First question. What are your thoughts about Senks quarterback situation with Tyler? Is he the future or just the present? What's your what's your thoughts on it? R. Randle: When you say future, mean, ⁓ came in the league at a what 26. So I if you're saying 10 years, nah, but say about ⁓ it should ⁓ between nine. say give him five years. He should be, you know, I think they have to call it back for the next five years, at least five, know. JB: Yeah, we need to. R. Randle: mean, Brady drew all them players to 40 or whatever till he was 40. So I mean, anything can happen, but I definitely feel like the next five years we should be all right. JB: Yes no. That sounds funny you said like that twenty eight, this is prime. R. Randle: That's my three- laughter JB: I never really thought about it like that. I'm just thinking he was rookie, but yeah it R. Randle: Right. JB: ⁓ good. R. Randle: Hehehehehe JB: agree with you with that one. ⁓ yeah, it's I I kinda go you know, these days they throw these quarterbacks and I hate to say young 'cause he's not young. ⁓ like you know the old day they used to have the quarterbacks develop. And ⁓ sit behind a good veteran, then they come in what, two or three years later. They come in and do their thing. So it's really it's pressure on them, but it's not that real pressure, I guess I wanna say. Yeah, ⁓ I I'm ⁓ with you on Alban. I give him a couple more years and I wanna see what he do this year ⁓ him starting the fulls. R. Randle: Hmm? Mm-hmm. JB: if he can if he can maintain in thought the season. Kinda like I I thought about Rattler, 'cause Rattler last year, he didn't have a full I mean the year before last, he didn't have a full ⁓ R. Randle: Right. Mm-hmm. JB: everybody hurt. Receivers, A K was out in in and out. So I wanna see what he do with a full season and then we can we can go from there ⁓ so I feel on that one. ⁓ R. Randle: Bro. Yeah, because you know how they say once get film on them, you know, because I think maybe he play anybody twice? Did any division teams we played? So everybody played, was their first. That's what I'm saying. He might have played. That might have been the only team he played twice. So anybody else, you they didn't film on him. Well, they had to film from the week before, but it's kind of like, next time you come around, we got a better idea. And then now you got a whole, you know, maturity, you know, he got his feet wet, you know, played with a lot of stars, like you said, with Radler. I felt the same way the year before. I was like, he ain't play with nobody. But then once he got in there, it looked like he was just trying to be safe, you know? But I think Shuck came in, you know, after that Rams game, you know, he got whipped up a little bit. But then after that, think he kind of comfortable and start doing his thing. That's why I say there was ⁓ games, ⁓ games, seven games sample size. But I think once he did, I like what he did. JB: Yeah, with you on my I I tell people all the time, you know, b living out here in you know D FW trectures, Dallas, ⁓ you I get a lot of things hate because ⁓ I'm gonna give a lot of Dallas. But yeah, I to me like I'm with you the last two games, man, 'cause he was kinda like one of the I'm not mistaken, he was the the best older rookie quarterback. but he I'm I'm I'm with him. Like I said I'm ⁓ like I say earlier, I wanna see what he do. R. Randle: Yeah. Yeah. JB: for the full season, stay healthy. And he got some weapons, man. To me, it's no excuse really. ⁓ from the I got from the from the the running back the the running back ⁓ on room. Some nice receivers. So I think we sh he should be straight. So I wanna also want to see what this defense do with the players that we lost, especially the Davis and that cornerback. So I feel like R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. JB: Koole might have to really step up that that cornerback spot. 'Cause right now he'd be our number one cornerback. R. Randle: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, you got Riley on the other side. He was the rookie. He stood up. I mean, he pretty much did what he was supposed to do. I don't think nobody we got in free agency for his corners that they actually thinking about putting on the outside. They kind of figuring out, you know, that there's one that Alante Taylor, that's body left. I think a lot of them competing for that. But Kool-Aid, he is the man for his starter. But as far as I think this will prove a year or two for him. JB: Yeah. It's just the it's the yeah. We gotta step it up, man. ⁓ I'm getting tired of him being able to read ⁓ different receivers and things the back. You can read his religion backwards. R. Randle: Yeah, we know his last name. We know his last name too. JB: question got for you, Rob. Do you feel like the ⁓ the things are I used to say wasting Elvin Elvin's prime of his of his career? ⁓ Do feel like ⁓ R. Randle: Thanks for that. Mm-hmm. JB: I know he's been injured a lot, so you think that can that can play a part of it too. But do you feel like wasting his rest his years he got left left in him? there's a lot of rumors of trade. You know, it seemed like everybody in New Orleans let go. I'm talking about Saints and Pelicans, they're going to win championships. I'm so happy for something ⁓ from Seattle to the to the Knicks. Everywhere everybody we go wins that. R. Randle: Right, No, When is great. JB: So check out ⁓ the things with ⁓ Elvin's ⁓ grip. R. Randle: I think he, I mean you say good years, think to me I think he passed that part of his career. I I think he pretty much on the tail end, meaning probably a year or two at the most. Even if he was to go to another system, he's not saying that he can't do it for his abilities. I think for his way and tail, there's really nobody in the league, one running back is every down no more. JB: ⁓ I'm good. R. Randle: I don't think he need to be the primary focus no more. Even with the Saints beginning, AT &I, if you see, he pronounced his name. He should be the, I think they both can play together. I mean, even if he used Elvin in the slot, he got the skills to be a receiver. But as far as wasting ⁓ career, I ⁓ that's already been done. you know, with the quarterback situation. mean, once, once Drew retired, you know, you bought Derek Cohen, well, the first year without quarterback technically. And then you bought Derek Cohen. That didn't work, you know, so to say we had a few glimpses of what it could have been. And then you had the year where you, you know, Rattler and, Dana all of them. I think that was a waste, you know. Then too, you got to look at it too, that old line. hadn't been healthy the last three, four years. Or we made bad, bad trip. mean, bad, bad drafts. Penny was a bust. know, still a out on him. ⁓ mean, big on the right side that had to retire. I can't think his name right now. The one he was ⁓ a... He was able to breeze them and all of them and he, whatever, I can't think his name, by him retiring, so it's kind of like the old line played a lot in Alvin years being wasted. Because a lot of times, as soon as you get the ball, he getting hit at the line or in the backfield and he trying to make three yards happen. So I think that part is already done. JB: Yeah, that's that's the name either. R. Randle: Hopefully, you know, there's a lot of, once again, you don't know what's true and what's not. the media talking about it, it was one of the guys, ⁓ Pickens, who was saying that it was, what they call that, when somebody, I can't think of the word, Jeff Duncan was the guy's name. But he was saying it was like a show for Elvin to come to the mini camp week, or week before last. Like, not really. The team know what they want to do already. They just stringing them alone. But I think if he come in with and I don't know if Miller gonna be back in, you you some guys that stuffed up last year at the end of the season. He have an impactful role, think, but I don't think he is. His number one days, I think is over. JB: Right, right. Yeah. I agree I agree with you ⁓ because I like one thing I like about him, he's keeping it professional. He's not on the he's he's not out there on you know, dogging the saints out in the media. Every time you look at him he ⁓ retire is the same. Like I said, we don't know it can it can be him just like I'm being professional about this. I ain't the tr type that's gonna put my business and stuff like well, put the company the team business out like that. So I respect that and I R. Randle: Right. Mm-hmm. JB: that's a ⁓ good way to I like how you brought that in 'cause I want to go to Mickey, Mickey Loomis. do you think? Like like you said the drafts. R. Randle: hahahahah JB: Be real. Some the draps, man, ⁓ the traps, the trades, I don't know if he got something that on Gail that ⁓ R. Randle: Right. I made up! JB: I don't know if Gail was the Diddy party or what he got on hims but Sunny. What's going on? R. Randle: I mean, I've heard things. I've heard things like even listen to like the talk radio. I mean, once again, I don't know what's true or not, but I've heard that Benson, Tom Benson, when he died, he pretty much left something in the paperwork saying Mickey got a job as long as he won one. I once again, I don't know. I didn't see the paperwork, but I've heard that from a credible. source down here on Talk Radio, which you know, I'm not the only one that heard it because he said it on the radio. So they pretty much was like, Mickey's going to be here until he decide he don't want to be here. So some of the moves he's making, it looks like that. Like, going to find me? ⁓ JB: Man, he he has grandfathered in ⁓ 'cause man, some of the stuff he doing. Cause I was 'cause I was thinking yesterday I was thinking Thursday night when I was doing a ⁓ another podcast with the talking about Jerry Jones. I kept saying, damn, just his worst. at least Jerry no, I'm not gonna say that Jerry only problem with Jerry is that he wants to be everything, the coach, the player, and stuff. He they the cowboys are drafting. So I can't compare that so nah. I'm not gonna even R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Right. JB: I ain't gonna even disrespect Jerry like that. But yeah, I just wondering what's going on with this guy, man. ⁓ so R. Randle: Now last year, the draft, he did good the draft last year. Like everybody who he drafted actually contributed some way, know, shape, form, or fashion, know, last year. Now it's been a while, you know, he had a few dry years. JB: Yeah. I'm I'm I'm gonna tell you this. I use chat ⁓ chat G P T whatever it is and he that's where he got that draft. He that's where he got that draft from he draft Nah. he worse he worse than me trying to set this this machine up earlier. So that's what he used. That's common sense. One thing I like one thing I like is a fellow guy who has more than one team. So a lot I get a lot of hate. I don't care if I got three teams. I actually got R. Randle: ⁓ yeah! Yeah, right. JB: I actually got more than three teams. Whoever the Cowboys playing, that's my team. So that note, I appreciate your rod, because a lot of people again they hates haters. Y'all know where y'all are. ⁓ let's talk about your your Raiders. Man. You know that's why that's why I had to get your Raiders last. You know this. ⁓ Kirk Cousins Renando, I'm saying his name right. First I want to get to Kirk Cousins. R. Randle: you Eugh. Man, I go from bad to worse. You Mentos are here. JB: That's the only that's the only person I know that that does robberies with no masks. I mean he he let you know before he come in there, he I'm about to rob you. R. Randle: Yeah. Hehehehehe JB: What's the first on y'all quarterback situation? But for real, that dude, man, he just show to him like you know this is not gonna work, right? R. Randle: the thing about it though, you know, you hear some of the old players, ⁓ like, you know, Barclay and, you know, the players that played back in the days. And then they always talk about the newer players and how much money they get and the treatment and the flight. They don't have to fly ⁓ commercial. get, Kirk Cousins was born at the right time. He was not only at the right year. I mean, it was to the point where he got drafted. third round, second, whatever, behind our first round quarterback. So that was an oddity that one team would draft two quarterbacks, you know, get two rookies in one year. I guess that was a, I guess everything was set up from there because now the way Gryll RG3 played, he got hurt. So cousin stepped in. So now he was like in the right place at the right time. You know, it was a chance where, okay, he bet on himself, you know. got the starting job with Washington, got the contract. Then it was like, okay, they don't want to give him that. He took the friend, whatever, wind up in Minnesota. Everything just felt perfect for him. So now he's in a position where, okay, Atlanta, what they had the number, top 10 pick. And they still go sign a high price free agent with a top 10 rookie quarterback. So that was perfect timing. it was like, I don't know who he believe in, he pray to at night, whoever, everything falling for him. So now you get another situation where he got to leave Atlanta. They had to make a decision. They was going to pick, you know, Pinnix. So now you go to another situation where a number one quarterback drafted and they signing him. So everything just falling for him. I think I looked at that thing one day. Either he made the most money in history or he ain't fall from it. You know, say, you know, rings and playoff wins don't match with it. But I think, uh, but the Raiders man, I mean, you got a new coach. Uh, well, that sounds like a broken record. They a new coach, what five coaches in the last seven years, something like that. You can't say, okay, new coach, different philosophy, new GM, different, I mean Brady, Sporty. his role is with the team, you think, okay, we got some ⁓ He there last year and that didn't, they say as a Davis on the team, ⁓ it's gonna the same. with either way cut go out and I know this is gonna probably lead into the next question. I don't expect much out of him this year, just for the simple fact, ⁓ you gotta rebuild You got your quarterback now, so now you get to. use that rookie quarterback money to get other players, but you got a lot of other players you got to get. I mean, yeah, you got Brock Bowles at the tight end spot, so you got a few, you got the running back, can't take his name, from Boise State. Last you drafted, and it was like, was that a good move? You try to fix your lineup, so we got some free agents on the old line. I just... don't ⁓ JB: Yeah. Yeah, you're going to man Stopper over in his grave. He like man ⁓ R. Randle: Yeah. then you're an AFC wet. So, you the best me, that's the toughest division in the league right now. know, back, you know, it used to be the NFC East or the Central with Baltimore, the Central, they call it the North with Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland, I'm about to San ⁓ Diego, the Chargers, the KC. ⁓ All they're doing is getting better. You know, they're getting better from top to bottom. So the Raiders win, I'll five games, that's, ⁓ that's, actually much. JB: So you think cousins would be ⁓ starting the f the full season or you think ⁓ that I ain't gonna say he need a little contract like I said he he didn't ride him he probably just out there. I it's I don't know, it's it seems like he just found a way to step up through the season. But when it comes to that playoff and close to the ⁓ just me seemed like he takes that step back. But I thought when ⁓ I ain't gonna lie to you, when he was supposed to be a R. Randle: Yeah, yeah, and also... Yeah. Mm-hmm. Try it. JB: The rumors were him coming to New Orleans, I like, one of the best quarterbacks in the league. And I said, man, that'd do well, man. He's not that good. So man. R. Randle: Right. Now see, like you were saying earlier, in the days with the rookie quarterback coming and get drafted, sit down and watch the, that's for me personally, I still believe in that strategy. So I would hope that that's what the Raiders would do, let him play the whole year, even if it's, like last year, I mean, it was a different situation because Rattler wasn't a veteran, so to say, but. When a lot of people, oh well, when you get to like week 10, because it's 18 weeks for 17 games, when you get to like week 10, week 12, going on, you see you're not going to well, sit to start the veteran down and let the rookie get his lumps. I never believed in that. Just for the simple fact, you know you're not trying to win, you're not going to well. So the rest of the team know that as well, you know? So now you're to put that rookie in there behind a patchwork O-line. You know, the defense, you know, at this time, like you said, if you got veterans, they trying not to get hurt, you know. So I put the youngster in there. Now, once again, if cousins stinking up the joint, Get a thirst, get another veteran between. ⁓ wouldn't put I wouldn't put Mendoza just to say, get his feet wet. Now, if it's a matter of production, you know what, Kirk? JB: Okay. R. Randle: We know the best you could do you've already done and it ain't gonna get no better. you said, you got the check, ⁓ check cashed, it's cleared your bank account, ⁓ added a few more M's. Then put the youngster in there, that way he do know what that feeling is. So next year when you come and he's ready to start, it won't be a culture shock. But I think Kurt should. if he get in there and I'll do Kurt ⁓ in camp, then. That says a lot, like another Matt Flynn situation back in day with Russell Wilson. JB: Right. Right. Right. Yeah. I didn't think about this from bad to bad team, but ⁓ w what's your thoughts about the Cleveland Brown quarterback situation with all three of those quarterbacks? you got Shador, Gabriel, and Watson. ⁓ what's your thoughts about that situation there? R. Randle: you say, of the, mean, going by what we hear, I mean, I've heard some things where I say Deshaun looking good. I mean, but once again, training camp hadn't started yet. You know, you got your preseason games. I think that's where you got the time to. Look at all that. mean, like you say, the coaches, they there every day, they see what they see. even saw, well, that's a new regime. So they didn't have shit doing Gabriel last year. But I think they kind of got an idea with Deshaun. I mean, he's coming off of what, two, two achilles or ACL, two injuries, whatever it is, two lower body injuries. So technically he hadn't really played real football in a year and a half, so to say. And The last few games that he played, he didn't really look too good. So he's older, he's coming off of two injuries and he wasn't looking good when he got hurt. So you don't get better by not playing. And I mean, I know he had surgeries, but the doctors couldn't put no, they ain't skills in him. But at the end of the day, what you're doing, he... JB: Yeah. Exactly. R. Randle: To me, he played good. He did what he had to do when he got his chance. A lot of mistakes, but he was a rookie. It just was the spotlight was on him. If you got to look at it, Cam Ward played the whole season. Shadua got more coverage than Cam Ward. Cam Ward was the number one pick. Cam Ward was making the same mistakes that Shadua was making, but he was like, it was buried. mean, it's Tennessee. Nobody expect the Tennessee to do anything else. And then you had... should do it getting all the spotlight. As far as Dylan Gabriel, I don't know. I mean. JB: We know what Netpick was about. R. Randle: Yeah, yeah. as far as they're not going to keep both of them too, I don't think they're not going to keep Gabriel and Shadour. If they think they could get something for Shadour, if Deshaun is going to be deemed a starter. If they think they could get something worthwhile and somebody another team wanted, I can see them trying to trade him just for getting value because I mean, Cleveland not winning nothing no time soon. So let's see if we can stockpile some drafts or get some assets another team may feel like Shadua can help them. But I think the battle is gonna be between Deshaun and Shadua. Yeah, yeah, yeah. JB: So yeah. Yeah. I I I agree with you. ⁓ I think first off, I don't know if everybody knows, but Watson started getting hurt once they started locking down on that massage stuff. After that, he couldn't get his special treatment. ⁓ about it, that's when he was in his best shape. Never pulled anything, never told anything, everything was simple. So but I think man, like you said, I I watch a lot of like we talked about this on one of one of my other shows. R. Randle: It couldn't get a trick. Right. JB: People in the comments with Aiden talked about on Watson this and Watson that do you know how hard it's to come back from these injuries? Yeah, I would understand that. A lot of you know, I didn't say a lot of quarterbacks came back, but I just see Watson it's not about the money because he got a nice up front quarterback. So I think it's more he trying to prove himself 'cause everybody a lot of doubt is like he haven't did anything in six years, he hurt like you said, two injuries. So I don't take nothing from Shadow, but I just think Watson R. Randle: You got that JB: gonna be that I'm about to show y'all who who I am. So that's my opinion. ⁓ as far as Shador man, like you said, rookies that's what rookies do make mistakes. It's very seldom we got that rookie that coming here and look like he's a veteran. ⁓ you see some of the stuff that he was doing, holding the ball too long, you know, and what all that running around stuff, hey these these these linemans are just as fast as some of these quarterbacks and running. So I I I think he is on that and R. Randle: Right. Right. Yeah. Passing you. JB: I do think if he was to have the win the spot, he'll prove a lot of people wrong. But for me, man, I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with ⁓ Sean Watson. I that's R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I go with Sean. But like you say, I bet they ain't gonna say preseason is gonna show a lot, you know? Cause actually both of them are actually be in real action, know, real live action, not just, cause like right now they ain't even at training. Cause so you had mini camps, so with your skeleton drills, know, seven on seven, stuff like that. So like you say, once the season starts, then like I said, they dealing with a new coaching staff, new, For example, Show got a new offensive coordinator, you know, so they both learning. Now, I don't know, it might be a system Deshaun played in before, you I don't know, but Deshaun Shadour pretty much learning a new system. And if you look at Shadour, even though his dad was the coach in college, I think his last years, ⁓ four, he probably had four different offensive coordinators, because I know Colorado switched offense. So now you get in the league, you get a new coordinator last year. And now you got another one this year. So it's a learning process. So I think, you know, he want to do it. I mean, that's one thing he could just lay back and, know, I think he really want to. And just like you said with Deshawn, the money is there. He could just sit at the house he's there going to get paid. So I think it's, know, from I'm hearing, like I said, the stuff I hear, Deshawn look like he's look like the Houston Deshawn, you know. JB: Exactly. Exactly. One more question before we go to commercial on this. You think that having that last name Sanders, we all know what happened with the draft. You think that hurts Shador a lot? I know he I know he got a lot of pressure on us like Brownie and ⁓ was it for James. you think that hurts him a lot as far as you see you said you see the head coach really last year to me didn't respect him at all. ⁓ it was proven. So you think that's a lot to do with it? R. Randle: So. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hmm? JB: thanks. R. Randle: I mean, you said, last name, but I think, and once again, nothing out, but it was a whole lot of chatter of where Deion didn't want his son to go. So it was kind of like, could he have been drafted earlier by another team, but they already got the memo not to draft him. Then I heard something came out about Baltimore. Baltimore wanted him, but... He felt he ain't gonna go sit behind Lamar because Lamar was the starter and he knew Lamar, he wasn't gonna play. So when you start talking about where you don't wanna go and what you don't wanna do, that word get around, know, the GMs talk, you know, and then whether that became, you know, a Kaepernick type thing, well, you know, black balling, don't know, but I think it was, you know, maybe he... went to the combine and turned some people off. But the name something to do one way or the other. Whether it was his saying stuff before the draft ⁓ or just a, know, because some people was even afraid that by his dad being his dad, Dion was might try to become an NFL coach the next year and okay, now. ⁓ JB: Yeah. Right. R. Randle: He might be taking my spot, you know, so once again, you never know because the truth somewhere in the middle, you know. JB: On that note, we wanna take a quick commercial, be right I'd like to welcome everybody back to sports talk with JP and I'm your host J B today. We have Robert in the house today. We're gonna start off talking about Aaron Rodgers' legacy. Hey Rob, do you feel like with it doesn't matter what kind of season Aaron Rodgers have, we know he's competitive, but if he have a real down season, you think his legacy already is sealed? It's no matter what happens this season. East Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. R. Randle: Yeah, I think that's already determined. mean, some people already drew dirt on him after last year. Well, not last year, the year. Well, last year he played over here. he did the kill. Well, some people, I think he had a slow start last year. So people was already saying that, you know, what he did in Green Bay. I think the only thing he could do is if he win one, he can enhance it. I don't think he can do too much damage to it. mean, JB: Little exactly. R. Randle: I think when you look at experts or the know-it-alls, the media, whatever you want to call them, they already got the vertigo him, whether they like him or not. Some of them say, you know, because there's arrogance and all of that, they feel like, you know, they don't like him. So they're going to find a way to nitpick it. You got people to say, honestly is to the best quarterback ever that we've ever seen throw the ball, but he's only got one ring to show for us. So really, ⁓ you know, so. JB: Right. R. Randle: I think that's already, now he's a Hall of Famer. I it's, whether it's perception or not, I think he can enhance it if he win those Super Bowls in Pittsburgh, but I don't think he can do any damage. JB: Right. I agree with you on his his sign still delivered. ⁓ so it don't matter what he's the only thing he can do is make himself ⁓ a more hated person 'cause you know he have his his ⁓ his shows where he might say something controversial or he might say something that pissed everybody off. But yeah, Aaron is he's he he he's already still. like you said, some caught think he's the the greatest one of the greatest. ⁓ why you why you think R. Randle: Yeah. Yeah It's broke. Mm-hmm. JB: They don't give Drew Brees the I'm gonna I'm gonna go Drew and Drew versus ⁓ Aaron right quick. They don't give Drew that same love. you think on that? ⁓ R. Randle: Mm-hmm. That's a good question. think... I mean, I don't see why they don't, but I think if the ones that don't, it's kind of like Drew is an afterthought. Like they come up with the list and then they be like, oh yeah, but don't forget about Drew Brees. Especially like now he about to go to the hall of fame. So a lot of that's going to be in everybody's face. So now a lot of people may remember, but I think because he's played for the saints, mean, Aaron played for Green Bay. mean, that's, you know, he followed fall, fall. That's a legacy team, you know, so I think that's kind of got something to do with it. Because I even look at when people talk about Brady and they say, now don't get me wrong, Brady got a ring, so I'm not, but when they say Brady made other people better, they go to listing the names of the people Brady played with and where they was drafted. Well, who Drew played with, that was a number one pick, you know, and he put up numbers better than all of them when he left the game. number one in all of the top categories. he, I just, I don't know. They kind of give him a, they don't put him in that category, but then they kind of give him props for shot and doing all the stuff he did. you know, he did stuff that if he was, you know, 6'2", he would be amazing, but he did it. JB: Yeah, I think ⁓ R. Randle: But they put the caveat, ⁓ Andrew Brees was only six foot and he did this and this, but they still don't put him in that category, which I feel to believe. he didn't win six like Brady, know, he didn't win like Montana and Bradshaw, kind of guys. But when it comes down to, I think, me personally, he's in that conversation. He deserved to be there with Peyton Manning. ⁓ JB: Yeah, with the R. Randle: Dan Marino didn't win any, you know, Marino, Marino, yeah, Elway, those type. But I don't know, like I said, maybe because it was the Saints, you know, what I would say. But I do believe if, you know, we get that, if that Super Bowl, that call against the Rams wouldn't happen, he would have had a chance to get his second. And then you had the year when Sean Payton was suspended, Bounty Gate or whatever. JB: God damn it. Minus code. R. Randle: That was a lost year. And go back to your boy, Mickey Loomis, lot of just, I guess what they call like empty calories. ⁓ got lot of yards, but they didn't actually turn into wins, so say. So I think that's of why, but Aaron, think he had the stat, the physique of quarterback and strength-wise, you know, he did things with the football that not too many did. you know, and it's like ⁓ arm angles, different things, you know, so I think, and he probably was on TV more, you know, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, so people saw him more, so I think that's probably why Drew don't get that kind of, you know, he not put in that category, which like you said, they both only have one ring. JB: I agree with you one percent. I I think it's it's Green Bay. If if it was if if Drew win those two Super Bowls, the the Mira the Minnesota miracle and ⁓ all saw what happened with the the rate the Rams game. I think he had three rings, it wasn't for that. ⁓ I ⁓ think those two reigns probably would have had him if put up there with the the greatest. ⁓ I think that's what R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm Truth. Right, go. JB: Could be also that ⁓ like you say we had a two had a a a nice bit of seasons not making the playoffs, losing records. So like you say earlier, empty calories, you're putting up five thousand yards, ⁓ and almost but ⁓ what are you doing with that? That's like a NBA player. That's like Kobe, the year Kobe had averaging ⁓ fifty points a game, but you're not making playoffs. so but like you said, ⁓ I got a couple of stats up here. R. Randle: Right. Right. Great. JB: They both have one chapter, just Drew this Drew stats right fast. Drew one Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, two offensive players of the ⁓ off of the year, thirteen Pro Bowls. Like you say, he retired as the NB NFL all time leader. And I only think I see Rod only thing Rodgers got different for him is four MVPs. ⁓ and other than that, he has one Super Bowl, one offensive player of the year, and that's it. it's it's all about that name. ⁓ R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Right. JB: Like we said earlier. R. Randle: And then too, like you say, with Drew, because I mean, the type of person I am when it comes down to these kind of conversations, yes, Saints fan, not going to deny it, but I'm a realist also. So I kind of play devil's advocate sometimes with other Saints fans, know, you know, go to talk and Drew the best quarterback ever, this and that. I'll, okay, since you saying that, I'm going to try to upset you, you know, I'm like, okay, if you down. And you coming back throwing these, you know, these hurry up offensives, get down the field, score a touchdown. They're trying to get the off, you know, onside kick this and that. Well, you building up a lot of those yards, like you say, empty, empty yards, playing catchback, you know. Now, once again, boy, Mickey Lumens didn't give him no defensive help. So it was like you had to outscore, the Saints outscored a lot of teams in Drew Carell because they felt, okay, we can score, you know, too many warning. Shit, don't even have that left. Drew could drive you 80 yards down the field, score a touchdown right before the half. So I think that's what it is. It's just that Drew's numbers, he did it, but it didn't into, you know, not necessarily Super Bowls, not even a lot of playoff. Not a lot, but he had a playoff, what do that, playoff success, but it wasn't enough. you know, Aaron, think, like I said, if you was to compare the two. I wouldn't, if you take Aaron, I wouldn't be mad if I had Drew. feel like I like my chances with winning that game. But ⁓ they played head to head a lot, Drew, I know they wrecked it head to head, but Drew, my one. Yeah, I was to say Drew probably won most the Major. So yeah, three and two. ⁓ So I think that's what it was though. Like you said, Green Bay, you got four MVPs. JB: Yeah. I got it right. Jewish green too. R. Randle: Super Bowl MVP. Drew got the one Super Bowl MVP. Did he win? He was MVP? Drew won MVP? JB: for the season or Super Bowl. He got it for the Yeah. Nah they don't have it. I don't think he has it. R. Randle: Season. Season. Yeah, see, that's what it was too. That's another thing they were saying. He never was the best quarterback in his era at any year, if you look at everybody, know, so how could he be in that category? So, because I think in the year when Michael Irving won, mean, Michael Thomas won offensive player of the year. JB: Yeah. That's I think that's when Drew won ⁓ offense. 'Cause he got a player player of the year. But I don't have the year he got it. He got it. He had it twice. R. Randle: But he didn't get MVP. All right, yeah, so that's what it is too. They look at that. never was considered the best quarterback in any year of his career. So that him down too. JB: I I I agree with you on that one on him. I think like you said, this is just the name. But you can't go wrong with either one. Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, man, the way he threw that football is different, but I'm I'm gonna stick with my with Drew Brees on that one. do this for my I should have did this with the Saints part. But ⁓ rank the NFC South quarterbacks from from worst from from four to five four to one. ⁓ know you got Baker. Yeah. R. Randle: Yeah. Right now? Okay. JB: ⁓ I guess Baker, I don't know who's gonna be starting in Atlanta, either Michael or Til Tulua, whatever his name is Young and Tyler. R. Randle: I mean just... go bake a first. I mean, it's hard. Well, Atlanta last, because they, like you say, don't even know who they did last. So Young and Breyce Young, that's his name, or whatever his first name is. For Carolina, I mean, he done had a roller coaster career with what's going on this third, fourth season. So it's hard to disrespect him and put Chuck in front of him, but. JB: Roger. Roger. R. Randle: I'll go. and 2B, I put both of them as a tie. And Atlanta, like I said, they don't even know who they started gonna be. So they go last because Tua, to me, probably I wouldn't be surprised if Tua started. But. JB: Mm. I won't be surprised if he even knows he signed with the Falcons. R. Randle: He might take you to Alabama. Right. And then with Pinnix, you know, he coming off the injury. So, I mean, you don't even know if he gonna be ready for the season or not. So yeah, to me, would be, I'll put them two as a group last. JB: He probably did that by mistake. ⁓ Yeah. Yeah, I'm I'm with your Baker. I have Baker and I'ma go off with I'ma go off with last year. ⁓ Bryce Young, Tyler, and Atlanta man, just throw an X on them. You don't like to you don't remember. Shoot. So on that one. R. Randle: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'll do that. I'm gonna get braces, bro. I'm gonna put him at two and put Shuck at three. Yeah, no, I'm tied up, JB: ⁓ well Yeah, that's that's why that's why I I that's the only reason why I gave ⁓ a nodge over on Tyler. ⁓ let's move on to this to the college level. What are your what are your thoughts about the NIL? Do you feel like is is it messing up the game? Actually I got two questions, but you can you can answer both of The the transfer portal and the NIL deals they're getting. Do you feel like it's R. Randle: He did lead him to the playoff, so, you know. Yeah JB: taken away from the game for from for both of them. Like I said, I'm with all players getting their money because these colleges, they've been getting money for all these guys for college minutes. they do deserve it. so do you think it's messing up the the game right now for athletes? ⁓ R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Right. Yes, now don't get me wrong because you gotta you say something and you got people that won't be like like you said college has been making it The part that I'm saying messing up the game now far as the money Get your money You can get it if you can get it doing whatever you can do legally get your money So let's take the money the players making money out of it the transfer portal is a joke because to me ⁓ You got, once again, it's not the ⁓ fault. It's probably not even the coaches fault. This is a, you know, conferences or the NCA, which don't really have nobody in charge. How can you have a transfer portal that starts the before or the week before the national championship game in football? So that means these coaches can't even focus on the game because they got to worry about. they can go get the transfer to their school and who they can stop transferring from their school, why they, you know, the last two teams standing to play, they can't concentrate on the game. So that's already a sign of how foolish it is. But when it comes down to, now I know scholarships, you everybody say, ⁓ he got a full ride, he got a scholarship to school. It's not a four year deal. It's a year. JB: Yeah. R. Randle: year to year thing. So yeah, if I got a scholarship, they could take my scholarship after my sophomore year and I don't have a scholarship no more. So that's pretty much the same way with the NIA, I mean, the transfer portal. You got a quarterback who might play for four different teams in four different years, you know? So as a fan, I think, you know, it's hard because it's worse than NFL, at least the NFL free agency, you know, you'd be like, okay, I ain't gonna buy this jersey because hell, he might not be playing with the team. in two years of college, and he might be going next year, you know, whoever give him the best offer. So it's, and I see, you know, a lot of coaches, because I've heard, you know, Deion said it before, and some other coaches, kids are transferring because they don't want competition. They feel like, oh, this guy going to take my spot or this guy. Well, I look at that another way too, if it's favoritism. JB: Exactly. R. Randle: and you're not going to give me a chance to get the job, then yeah, I got a way I can get out of here. So I know I went around the block or whatever, but as far as the NIL, the NIL to me, like we said, players from video games and jerseys back in the days when they used to have to verify the Michigan, but they didn't put their name on the bag. They were still, I'm going to buy a number four Michigan jersey because I knew Chris Webber would. Well, the thing about that is The NIL is really still not fixing that problem. See, a lot of people look at it and, oh, they're making five million, they're making this. A lot of this stuff is coming from sponsors, like car dealerships or whatever, raising canes with LSU. They're giving these kids money to do commercials. You couldn't do that before. The school still, say like the SEC team went to the champion, Indiana played. Miami in the championship game, think. Well, whoever went. The conferences, get that money. The players still don't get a cut of that sugar bowl money or that orange bowl money. They get money to go to the school. And then now you got the agents and you got all these behind the door deals where, you you saw a kid from your NLV quarterback started the season because they told him they was going to give him extra amount of money. Here they undefeated, I think three and ⁓ four and Man never got none of this money. So he quit. So now I'm about like, how would he quit? Team undefeated, they got a chance to do something they never, but you never gave me the money. You promised me to come to UNLV. So it's, it's, it's, it's, it's to me as a, like I said, once again, get what you can get as a player. But when it comes down to all the moving and I could transfer here and I could go here and I could. JB: Right. R. Randle: leave this, it's a bowl game, which once again, it's not that big of a deal, but I can leave, I'm the backup quarterback. I'ma leave this school before the bowl game because I'm transferring to this other school, but we still playing, we might go on to championship, but he gotta make that decision now. He can't wait till after the sugar bowl or the championship game to transfer, he gotta leave now. So think ⁓ calendar, Need to be adjusted, but then also I see they coming up with a lot of. They tweaking it a little bit, but I think it's overall. It messes up now once again, coaches could leave, come and go when they want. That's what started this. I go to you know I go to Texas because this coach here. But then the coach get another job, but the player can't transfer to he gotta sit out of you. You know that's the old rule. So I think a lot of stuff is. Overall, I don't like it, but it's the new law. JB: I feel like me take a deep breath on this because first I wanna say ⁓ I wanna talk about the the ⁓ NIL first. I feel like it's taken away from the love for me. I used to love it when kids was trying to get to the NFL level to grind to get that money. Now you gotta say I don't believe in pocket watching, but when you got somebody like Shador and a couple other players that's making fifteen million dollars off can't off not even in the pros. They make R. Randle: Thank Okay. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. JB: money, you know, it they still want to get to the other level, but it was just to they were just more hungry up before they got these deals. And again, they ever did money, but that's the thing I I don't that's why I kind of stopped watching college football like I used to because it's just it just wasn't the same to me. Once I see these kids getting paid and they just some of them you see some of them out the money. Like you see the ones that's hopping hitter here. ⁓ like that other kid like I forgot his name, they offered him more money in R. Randle: Right. Mm-hmm. JB: Sure, he left and he was on a good team. Well, you're gonna give me this, you're gonna give me this uniform? I'm like, I'm I I go with y'all. So that's the part I don't about the ⁓ NIL. I said I don't I don't care for it. But again, I'm for these kids getting their money because they they grind for it until they started getting it. Now, as far as the transfer portal, this is why I have problem with it. ⁓ 'cause it it happened the year my son, his year, his senior year in R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Alright. JB: That transport portal hurt a lot of athletes, man. ⁓ high school athletes. ⁓ I talked to a lot of head coaches. I'm always around college coaches, high school coaches. ⁓ I do more I do more recruiting than my son's school. I'm gonna put that out there. Y'all know if I heard stories. You got the the best cornerback in the district. And actually, ⁓ I'm not get into that because I don't it is what is. R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hmm? Hehehehehe JB: They they know ⁓ in there's no way no it's no reason in the world that these kids of the transport port a lot of these kids was get had to go to JUCO, the D was D two. It was very selling 2024 the lowest ⁓ scholarship they gave out in a long time. And you had to get that scholarship, you had to be like a top like a full scholarship. I'm talking about I think they say the top twenty in the country out of thousands of kids. R. Randle: Right, right. Hmm? Hmm? JB: You back then it was giving them out, give them out. I talked to him, he said, like Mr Lawson I'm gonna tell you this. Why would I give a high schooler a f a fr a col high schooler coming to college a full scholarship when I can go get this guy who had already proven two or three years and I can bring him in and plug him to the instead of me at the now training skin over. So then you got these R. Randle: Right. Right. JB: And they transfer and they're twenty two years old, like you said, now they got it. We can stay even longer in college. So I think R. Randle: Hmm? JB: photo it helps I'm gonna say this it helps and it doesn't help for me. I just don't like it personally because of that reason. But like you said, if you would if you're in a situation like Colorado where I know it's favoritism. I don't care what Prime say, I respect Prime, but if I know I'm better than this person and I know prime ⁓ got feel a certain way about me, I'm gonna leave. Back then you could leave. But now I got a chance to sit send out send out some video and I can I can leave. That's what I'm gonna do. R. Randle: Bro. Right. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. JB: So that's that's how I fit on that one and ⁓ I guess on that note, ⁓ we're gonna come back and take a we're gonna take a quick commercial and be right back. I'm host J B. And in the studio today we have Rob. Hey Rob, let's jump into let's jump back into New Orleans. No, we're not talking about the cash money and no limit to it. R. Randle: Yeah JB: Let's talk about the Pelicans. What are what are they missing to be contenders ⁓ to make it to that next level? R. Randle: Oh man. Every year I try to answer that question, but then it's like, it looked like it'd be something else as well. mean, first of all, help. I mean, from Zion, not last year he played damn good the whole season, but he didn't even have to do too much load management. But the De'Jontay got hurt. the year before, so he come back late, Trey Murphy set out a lot, Herb Jones set out a lot. So when you got your starting five, then you probably only played 10 games together. And some of that probably was after you was out of contention for a playoff spot anyway. So what did it really matter? I still say a true point guard, because If you have scores around you, your point guard can't be a score first point guard. I think, you know, you have to, now if he, if you don't have, you know, four other, five other scores in your starting lineup, then yeah, your point guard has to be like, say for instance, with the Knicks, know, Brunson could score, but not a ⁓ score. Yeah, he can score if he have to. Josh Hart not a real score. If, you know, Cat was a score and then OG, he could get his points. So. JB: ⁓ great. ⁓ Yeah. R. Randle: You're looking at three out of five, but when you got Trey Murphy, who, you know, known for his trees, but he could do a lot of other things too. He needs somebody to throw him the ball. Zion definitely needs him. Or if Zion going to be the point forward, then now you know he ain't passing the ball. So, you you're stagnant. So I think even if you don't have a starter as your, your, as your, true point guard I'm talking about, even if he's not the starter. I think they still, to me, was always missing that. lot times you get a 24 second violation because the ball passing around or sticking in one spot and then once the man get the button, I didn't try to shoot it to bleep the shot clock. It wasn't a good possession. Stuff like Turnovers. Turnovers are high when you don't have a true point guard. ⁓ But I say first. And then we didn't got a new coach or just a fourth coach in six years, fifth coach in eight years, something like that. So you got another coach. Injuries like I said, I just say injuries if we could stay healthy and see exactly what we could do, but I think just just a True point guard or a true veteran, you had the idea the Andre Jordan his impact helped a lot from the bench Even though he wasn't playing but he had that that mentality even though Looney, you know Looney was a veteran presence, but the people they bought in you bought in Poo. You bought him poo. I didn't think that was a good deal. But, you know, ⁓ he got him, yeah, he could shoot, but unless you don't transform his mind, get his mind off of street ball playing and just be talented, it wasn't going to work. So I think, like I said, we can stay healthy and a ⁓ true goal because I think we got ⁓ some, got decent scores and JB: Yeah. Not at all. R. Randle: Well, defense too, mean defense wasn't our strong point because our best players not really good defensive players. Zion, you got Queen, you got Herb Jones and they could play defense. But I think help and court JB: Yeah. Right. I agree with you all that ⁓ that's that's that's all I that's that's all I want them just be healthy. They make runs. Like you seem to up and down, up and down. They're going to five, I think five three, seven game. And then somebody gotta sit out 'cause road management or just help, just hurt. So I with you all that on. I I just think that just need be healthy. That's the that's the beginning of the thing. Another thing I feel like I don't like Zion get enough touches. R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. JB: I know he brings the ball up and down, but again they don't have a burn guard. I don't think they do. ⁓ everybody's more shoot first these days. I really don't think they have too many real ⁓ true print guards no more anyway. But I think I think he needs to get the ball more 'cause this times I watch the I get I get frustrated with the Pelicans game and 'cause he'll come down they won't he won't even touch the ball for two or three series. They go from everywhere but to him. Everywhere for him. So I think he needs to touch that touch the ball more. ⁓ R. Randle: Right, right. Mm-hmm. In the league, yeah. Mm-hmm. JB: So that's that's my opinion with the ⁓ Pelicans. next question. I'm not sure you saw this but Rich Paul, ⁓ he said Scotty Pippen rings are the same as Michael Jordan, if not even more. It wasn't for Michael Pip, Michael be 0 and six. I believe that. So you know huh? ⁓ I'm just talking about so I I wish I was there he said it, when he said sin. R. Randle: Right. Hmm. You know how we feel about this. JB: So what's your thoughts on response to? R. Randle: I mean, I know once again context, know, everybody hears stuff and everything becomes clickbait, especially with... Sometimes the message could be true, but the messenger saying, you know, the person has delivering it. That's what creates the controversy and we're rich Paul, of course, he's LeBron's Partner agent, whatever you want. Call him all of those things. So anything he say That sounds like it's anti-jordan is gonna make headlines and people may not listen to what he say because they feel like JB: Yeah. R. Randle: He's trying to prop LeBron up and pull Mike down. So sometimes two things can be true. He might be trying to do that, but just because that's what he's trying to do or maybe he's not, what he said could still be true. think him and I think it was ⁓ Arenas, think. ⁓ what people don't do, they don't go back to what Gilbert Arenas said, which led to him saying that. And I don't have the exact quote in front of me, but Gilbert Arenas made a comment about JB: Right. R. Randle: ⁓ cause I think Gilbert went on his show, he liked it. They talk about, would you rather win championships or make money? You know, would you go to, you know, so that's a lot of the stuff that. Former players, you know, some of them who won rings, course, a of them won rings on that show. So they talk about the money a lot. So I think Gilbert bought that conversation to Max Kellerman and Rich Paul and Rich made the comment that Scotty rings. more, did more, so I could like you said, forget exactly how you said it. But in that context, to me... ⁓ Scott is not, and then once again, this is not saying Scott is better than Mike. know, once again, that's where the confusion could come in there. But I agreed with his reason for saying that. You know, I believe what he meant, I mean, with his answering, like I said, responding to Gilbert Arenas, it made more sense. And like I said, I don't remember exactly what Gilbert said, but it... It had more value because, and I think what he was saying was, Mike was and who Scotty was, the impact that they made, and once again, it sounds stupid talking about Jordan with anybody, but you know. JB: Mm-hmm. Right, right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we exactly I'm with you ⁓ I like Mike to me, Mike does that's my goat. ⁓ I'm not no saying that Scotty's better than Michael. ⁓ he had his year to ⁓ he should have won MVP to me, but and I think only why I say that Mike I don't know if he would have went O and six he would have won something, but you look at it during that time, the closest thing to Mike. R. Randle: We know what to do. and then JB: I wanna say was Drexler. yeah. Right. So I'm thinking, ⁓ who on who would have who what other what other Robin would have been able to do what Scotty did? you got a a print guard, a print forward who can do what he can do. So that's I guess that's what I'm thinking about when I look who's in the lead at the time, besides Brand Hill was came towards he was hurt a lot. He was the first to ⁓ a true print forward. R. Randle: Yeah, that's why they didn't draft him. I see. Mm-hmm. Right. JB: I can't think of no other small forward that could have stepped in Scotty's role and did what he did. And he proven he could do it on when Mike was out for that year and a half. He held the team down. Yeah. You know that, especially with that one. He was a though I hate to talk about that, but I get flashbacks. R. Randle: None of them. Right. And when you went to pool. JB: So I don't really know the subject, but every time I look at the Kobe crossover and what Grant Hill did, man, I I get flashbacks, man. ⁓ like you said, it's it's it's the person who sent the message coming from Rich Paul LeBron camp. That's why I think people didn't take it that serious. But I I I'm with you on that one on I think R. Randle: Right, right. Break. And then too late, Scottie been on his, you know, two last two years or three years, sound like he bitter, especially since the last dance, he sound like he bitter. So of course name don't have the same respect. I ain't gonna say to wait to the outside people. Like if you know basketball, it is what it is. It's like we were talking about Aaron Rodgers earlier. His legacy is his legacy. You you could not like him, what he do off court and all that stuff. But with Scottie, his... last few years writing a book, doing a tour with Luke Longley and I think Horace Brandt, that type of stuff. Yeah, people look at it like he bitter, but like you say, who else in that timeframe, even if just takes somebody like Barclay, who pretty much was a top 10 player at the time, dynamic wouldn't have worked because Sky didn't just do offense. Barclay didn't run off with no defender. JB: Ridiculous. Right. R. Randle: as a defender and he wasn't going to be able to check point guards like Scottie did. Or probably two guards. So yeah, like you say, who else in the league at that time? Cause you say mimic Scottie. Like, okay, he was just as good as Scottie. As Scottie, you could have pulled up him in that bullseye. Like you say, Mike Mata may have not win 0-6 cause he probably wouldn't have gotten there six times. So, you know. JB: Right. True. True. That's that was the the good days. We had Scotty, man. I like you said that this it's the last couple of years, but I'm like, come on man, ⁓ like this last R. Randle: You make it as slick as that. JB: Ivan wore Scotty's jersey or shirt because he started because he came with them braids. ⁓ kind of like a distro, what I said, but yeah, man, we gotta get that together. Let's on over to some of this WWE right fast. Do you think do you think the WWE is in a better place now compared to 20 years ago? R. Randle: Yeah Mm-hmm. JB: I guess meaning ⁓ R. Randle: Now when you say better, you mean better for his watching or better for his on end. It's probably better for, they probably making more money. But as far as a product, nah, yeah, I wouldn't say it's better now just because it's more saturated now. mean, you, you know, you got to think about 20 years. What's that 20 years, 2006? So it might've been more than that when you had, it was really like two, maybe three. JB: Yeah. Watching. Let's go read it. R. Randle: Entities here at WCW WWF and ECW now you might add some chitlin circuits or whatever but for us now TV wise you got a W you got WWE you got other one with ⁓ JB: Shows, you gotta live everything. R. Randle: Yeah, so you got so many where now the talent is spread out. So even with WWE, you got so much talent to the point where you had to make SmackDown and Raw two different rosters. Before it used to be something happened on Raw, SmackDown, you get to continue it. Well now, no, you got your own rosters. Now then you got NXT, which I'm not gonna lie to you. I don't keep up with it. I find out about it when they make the big roster. JB: Right. R. Randle: But it's more, you know, they don't have a hold on the talent that they used to because they can always go get a decent contract or a decent salary going to one of these other brands or whatever. Me as a, like I say, old school, diehard kind of soul, whatever you want to call it. Even if I know them, I can't watch him on one of them other ones. I I glance at it if it's on, but it's just not, ⁓ TNA, that's the other one, TNA. Because they even came with the octagon ringing all in them. can't, it's singing all in them was in there that one time. I couldn't get into it. But to me, I preferred it better back then. It's more commercial now though. A lot of stuff they was doing then, we probably wasn't supposed to be, they probably shouldn't have had on TV, but. JB: Exactly. Exactly. That's the the weapon. But yeah, I'm with you with that one, because ⁓ I think I I just got back into it ⁓ watching it when they signed a Netflix deal. I've gone away from wrestling for a while. Cause it was I'm like, who is this? Who is that? Who is this person? What's going on with this and that person? So I'm with you. I think the product is was better back then when you have the heartbreak kids, the thing, the sh ⁓ rock. R. Randle: I think now it's more commercial now. Hmm. Bro. you strong calls. JB: ⁓ the ultimate war type of people. So I see what they're doing now because it's I'm pretty sure they're making more money now with the stuff they're doing, like stuff we never had with ⁓ Lighter Kings, whatever it's called, ⁓ back then. ⁓ So I I think I think the product was better twenty years ago. You know, you ever so every once in a while you might got your your up to date your ⁓ your stars that that be like damn R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Hmm. Good daytime. JB: They they just it's just as hype as the rock. Like I like the I like the Uso ⁓ interest. I think that's one of the best entrance intros, I mean entrance ever. ⁓ even the Uber stuff, ⁓ all that strut and stuff. ⁓ I'm pretty sure that ⁓ the WWE told him you need to walk your ass a little faster because we walk we started walking faster. R. Randle: Hello? Right, right. JB: But now we got a time slot, you know, like the like if I left and went to the store and came back. He was still walking down the aisle. So yeah, I think there's I think it's it was better twenty years ago, man. ⁓ what ⁓ R. Randle: Yeah, yeah. Music play! And then too, like now, and don't get me wrong, like I said, I'm watching it now, but I don't want to see it on ESPN. Like when I see them on SportsCenter and that's like a segment and they talking about Rasselman is like, nah, come on, man. don't mix, you know, like I say, when all the protesting and the kneeling for NF, don't, y'all keep that out there, leave my sports alone. don't need to see you breaking down. JB: Right. R. Randle: a wrestling match on SportsCenter. To me, come on. I'll argue with you to the end about it being fake or not or whatever, but don't go that far. JB: Right. I'm I'm I don't need that. That's got your own network. ⁓ Yeah. Yeah, me me my wife always she like, You watching that? I said, just like you watch the stories. You know that's so every time but she sit right there and watch me watch it with me. She up there's a favorite. she she she became a fan of him talking about acknowledge me. I You don't get your ass out here with that. ⁓ what let's let's go back to R. Randle: Yep. Yeah, yeah, my daughter, she like... Alright, right. Yeah JB: pre-Katrina days, man, before that right. What I'll probably go back a little further. What was better to you? the when ⁓ WCW or the WW I'm gonna go back to F, because that's when it was F. What show Rob had to watch if both of them came on at the same time? They did come at same time. ⁓ go back to that. R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That, that, that, that 90s, you know, cause that was what shit, we was in high school and then when I went to school, so that was like 94 through like 98. For men, like the early part, I'll probably do But then when it got like 96, 97 when you had NWO and all of that, WWE kind of to me, because they ain't really got to think about it before they actually rebranded to the ⁓ era. It was like in that ballroom in New York somewhere ⁓ it of didn't have that same feel like they wasn't in arenas and it was like. JB: Mm. Yeah. Yeah. R. Randle: They got more action over here. But then, of course, once Stone Cold and all them hit their stride, then it was like, okay, WWCW became more of an entertainment thing. And that was when No Limit and all them pop up on there and all that. it's like, yeah, I'ma go back to WWF. So, know, it had its moments. It's... JB: Yeah, I don't know. R. Randle: It's timeframes on which one, you know, I mean, like you said, I had the remote, I was going back and forward, but it all depends what time frame, you know, that ended up your time frame. Now that I was, yeah, had it. they had, they got, matter of fact, they, I forgot the name of the show. called, ⁓ they was talking about the reading walls ⁓ how they went back and forward and how, you know, one thing led to another and what made WCW actually just tap out, you know, when Ted Turner was on and. All of that so, turning the TV to Paramount, I think it was Paramount, could be wrong, Brothers, one of them, the one of, whoever he sold it to, they could care less about wrestling. So, you saw it. You saw it. JB: It ⁓ right. Right. Right. I'm only I I take I like WCW back in the days. ⁓ it was nothing like seeing the NWO walking out with that, ⁓ Stang coming down from the from the Raptors, ⁓ the the Horsemen. ⁓ I you can go you can go you can go off and on. ⁓ so I'm with you on that one. So on that note, we're gonna take a quick commercial and be right back. R. Randle: Mmm. Bro. Way back, JB: like to welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with I'm your host. Today I got a special guest in the house, Rob. Rob, we're gonna do this thing, this game called Rapid Fire, where I once we come off the top of your head, quick these questions I'm gonna hit you with. So let's get it. Fraver athlete, favorite athlete. R. Randle: Got it, Pip. JB: Greatest quarterback ever. R. Randle: damn. Elway? JB: Greatest rest available. Greatest NBA player ever. R. Randle: Got it. JB: Favorite sports movie? R. Randle: What's moving? JB: Always. R. Randle: Yeah, Wildcats. JB: Wow, Football. Classic. All the man, all the ⁓ metrics in that one, three rookie. Yeah. Most hated team. R. Randle: Who the fuck? JB: yeah. ⁓ R. Randle: I don't really hate none of them, I just don't roof or nothing. I guess you could say... I don't really have a hated team. JB: I answered for you, the cowboys for me. ⁓ let's see. I know you do a lot of traveling a lot. I'd be seeing every time I'm like, God damn, he don't ever invite me nowhere, but it's all good. Ain't like we never played in football leagues and basketball leagues. Shit, we wouldn't we didn't we wouldn't R. Randle: Yeah I just heard you scoundrel, bro. You probably ain't got time to do nothing. JB: Man, we went in neighborhoods and kicked ass, man. I Rob, don't never say this and that. But the best the best stadium you're in your experience. R. Randle: Hahaha JB: Yeah. R. Randle: Stadium experience I guess I'd go by what the view was I mean Soldier Field last year was nice. Soldier Field, I say Soldier Field. First, I don't know if I've been outdoor before, Soldier Field. JB: If you can change one rule in any sports, what would it be? R. Randle: And rude, rude sports. I really, it's ⁓ probably one that'd be better than this, but when they call a timeout for the challenge, I don't think they should let the players go to the bench, like a timeout. I don't think they should let them go to the bench. ⁓ That's an extra timeout. ⁓ Well, the challenge, I'm sorry. Because the challenge is a timeout. They gotta take a timeout. When the referees... ⁓ JB: just yeah. That's R. Randle: do it like if they feel like it's a three-pointer and they don't know that shouldn't be yeah. No, no, you know what? Timeouts in college basketball. Especially doing Mass March Madness. I've been saying that for years. I get tired of them damn timeouts and commercials and all that. Yeah, that. JB: Right. But they can change anything. Change that goddamn NFL kickoff. Man, that dropped. Hell no, man. I know they're trying to make people safe. R. Randle: Check off, you know what I'm talking Yeah, and they kind of updated it last year, JB: That's crazy. Best fan base, Saints Larrators. R. Randle: Ceratis. That's history. JB: They get crazy out there. ⁓ which team winning the Super Bowl first? R. Randle: Yeah, travel. Shit, JB: And the last question, your NBA goat. R. Randle: John. JB: Right. We're gonna switch over to this game I I wish I had the music book, but I got five on it. Give me your top five greatest quarterbacks ever. Any any order. R. Randle: Alright. Brady, Montana. Peyton. Breeze. JB: much Ponza B. Brady, Montana, Drew Brees, Fate. Probably had to go Wanna say A Rod, I'd throw A Rod in that one. I can R. Randle: I was thinking about him, but then we had a discussion earlier about he not winning much. So yeah, yeah, I can't not get over it. JB: I like I like Elway and everybody. I guess I that's the only way I can think of. I'm trying go from my time. Let's like I couldn't talk about you know NBA greatest. I never saw real I know people say people say I got gray and look over, but I'm only forty eight, so I don't I don't know. I don't ⁓ know we'll get in Russell, I don't know. So name the gr you the greatest NBA power me NBA small forwards. R. Randle: Right, right. Right, right. Hahaha! Small Falls Scotty Wordy. fault already. brain play long enough. wordy I don't know what you gonna put LeBron a small forward in yeah LeBron BERT and one move All forward, turn a blink. JB: Yeah. R. Randle: Uhhhh I only played two goals. you think of another powerful? I mean small for small for Scotty Bird, wordy, LeBron. Grand Hill to me, he play that long. ⁓ You go with yours and I'ma see if I'm. JB: Yeah, yeah. probably go Coscotty, Bird, LeBron. I gotta s I gotta throw K D in there. And R. Randle: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, JB: Raleigh. with you on the Grand Hill thing. I know you said he didn't play a lot, but what he done at the time, like I said, this is anyway, this is my this is my favorite. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and R. Randle: Yeah, right, right, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. JB: I'm trying to think back in the days what the f small fall was. R. Randle: That's what I was trying to do. JB: I like I like to use my I like to use my my my roster always old school. ⁓ some of these players today haven't finished they writing a book or yet or chapter. So yeah, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go ⁓ R. Randle: Mm-hmm. Right. JB: I go Carmelo ⁓ Glenn Glenn Rice was nice too. I don't think he's down he's not my top five. All right. ⁓ in top five wrestlers of all time. R. Randle: Yeah, KD. JB: ⁓ brother. Yeah, rascal. R. Randle: Grassless. through the screen you say Rassus? JB: ⁓ wrestlers, yeah. R. Randle: Sting, Cold, Horcogon. Rock. and on the table. JB: Right. R. Randle: Shawn Michaels, Yeah, yeah. Stained Rock, ⁓ Cold, Undertaker. And was modeling? JB: gonna take us. yeah. R. Randle: ⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah, I grew up on Hogan so regardless of how he ended his career, his life. JB: Yeah, exactly. I probably got the same ones ⁓ Stone Cold, Rock, Sting, Hogan and I had to pick. I Sean Michaels now over Triple H anytime. He he was more into he was in the tag ⁓ top back staying stick sticking a wrestling top five tag team champions. R. Randle: ⁓ yeah yeah yeah yeah. Yeah. Roll Wars! Steiner Brothers. Full Horsemen, that's a group of that. Road Wars, Steiner Brothers, Rock and Roll Dispressed, that was the first one. Rock and Roll, Road Wars, Steiner Brothers, Full Horsemen, JB: Yeah. R. Randle: New Age Outlaws. New Age Outlaws. JB: Okay, yeah. I go ⁓ demolition, the Road Warriors, the Bushwhackers, Rockin' Fold Nick Folding ⁓ the Sina brothers. That'll be my five. Old school. R. Randle: mankind? Yeah. Rock and sock connection. JB: Yes, I think that's it on those top five. All right. On this last part. On that note we're gonna take a quick break and we'll be right like to welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with JB and I'm your host, J B, and have Rob in the house, and we're on our last segment. All right, Rob, this one here, I to build your own. I'm gonna go old school and say Voltron, but build me your ultimate quarterback. Consider ⁓ vision, leadership, arm strength, ⁓ speed, accuracy, and I guess clutch. I know Voltron only five parts, but I'm gonna count the body and the head. R. Randle: clutch. JB: Mm. R. Randle: ⁓ Well, Leadership Breeze, Clutch Brady, Aaron. Speed. speed if he just gonna run Vic what's the other one? Speed. Vision. ⁓ was awesome. Peyton saw it all too, so I go with Peyton Vision, since I'ma give Breeze the leadership. JB: I think I'll go with ⁓ two of them gonna be breeze for me. ⁓ that's accuracy and R. Randle: Yeah. See that's I ain't gonna put two of the same. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got you. JB: kinda hard. ⁓ 'cause that's the only person I can think of, like you said, I was talking about earlier, man, Greece was he was nice to everything. Leadership I'm gonna sound loud. Leadership I'm gonna probably go R. Randle: Hmm? JB: I go that's been hard for me. I'm gonna come back to the album. Mobile. I go ⁓ Michael Vick. Can't go hip wrong with him or Lamar Jackson. them both of them fad. Arm strength. ⁓ gonna try to be different from a jersey. I'm gonna go ⁓ Strathford. Did I say this name right? ⁓ the Rams back in the day, Strafford had a nice. R. Randle: Mm-hmm. traffic, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, JB: Had a nice strong home. I could have win him or airway, so this I know I'm giving you more than one, but him or airway and touch him to go Brady. And probably the same thing with ⁓ with leadership. I know Brady got his own way. Sometimes I like those quarterbacks or players that can have a different way of being a leader. So I think that'll that'll complete my my ⁓ my Botron stuff. R. Randle: Mm. And see a lot I think, now I'm thinking back to even not just this one, but the first one we talked about quarterbacks. out Obama Holmes in a lot of these conversations. ⁓ JB: You're right. You're right. Hey Chad. Hey Chad, don't be calling us more bandeayos because we ain't we R. Randle: Yeah, I forgot about my own. You'd have been in a lot of these lists. Yeah. Especially that top five one. JB: This was a long show. So yeah. So I got I gotta go back and add somebody out. I'll put him in there. Yeah, I forgot about him. This is a long show, so we've missed. So don't don't come at us, which I know y'all gonna come at us anyway. but yeah, Mahomes just forgot about it. Make it better for you. Give me Mahomes on screen. So now you R. Randle: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, my bad. Yeah, he's still playing, that's my excuse. JB: Yeah, exactly. So again, man, Rob, ⁓ I thank you again for man joining me on the show today, man. Anything like like to promote, gotta ask you that. It can be anything, yeah, no don't worry about it. We we all we over those questions. I gonna tell you my you can give me that right fast. You only probably take two minutes. Top top five top five video sports video games. We got to actually that. R. Randle: No, I haven't. I haven't. Tecmo Bull, Double Dribble. I guess you could say Madden. never was good at none of them. I sports, baseball. forgot which one it was, but one of them. Yeah, that sounded like it could be it. RBI, Tecmo Bull, Double Dribble, Madden. JB: Or B I R. Randle: I mean, I ain't played video, especially them kind of games since over 20 years, I ain't got the patience for them. I guess I'm trying to think of something back then. It's one of the origins. Tecmo Bowl, Double Dribble, Take Care of Back then. The baseball, RBI, Madden. I guess you throw a 2K in there. You can't go wrong with 2K, I guess. JB: I was about to say, ⁓ I'll probably go. I'm gonna go Madden, Tech Mobile. ⁓ I'm even gonna throw excite bikes in that that's a sports with a bike. NBA Live. And I kinda like the the new ⁓ baseball they have. It's it's it took me a while to understand it, but the new baseball, I like it. ⁓ I got we have ⁓ we have all kinds of systems in this house. Junior got his own Freeman thing, PlayStation. everybody got R. Randle: Yeah. Hmm. JB: X boxes. I got an Xbox which my youngest son took. He got two Xboxes in his room in a laptop and a cell phone. I know what he needs to remove. But crazy to me. But ⁓ I haven't I haven't got my Xbox since since about four years now. ⁓ ⁓ I've had a second question in there for you, man. ⁓ but again I thank Rob. ⁓ you for joining the show today. R. Randle: Uh-huh. The show over. JB: Thank everybody for joining the show today and also like to thank Rob for taking the time out to do the show with me. I appreciate it, man. Like I said, we go way back 30 years plus, even though I even though I didn't like you at first, I know I told you the story. ⁓ year I came quick story. One year I did come I I I told you the story. One year I did come to football practice, I kept hearing was who who pookie this, Pookie this, Bobby this, Bobby. I'm like, who the fuck is this? I looked at him, I said, he's just as skinny and just taller than he just thought. ⁓ R. Randle: too. ⁓ You JB: I think I told you that story before. ⁓ thought I told you that 'cause me and Kenneth laugh about it all the time. He said, Man, you know that you know I used to feel about Rob? I'm telling you when I first came now 'cause I missed y'all went to ⁓ was it was it Mississippi for camp? R. Randle: Uh-uh! you Yeah, we to, we're about freshman yet? We went to Belize. Yeah. No, no, no, no. Freshman, went to Belchez. Belchez, never agrees. JB: Bloxy, right? Yeah, press me you're ⁓ 'Cause I missed camp. I missed camp and I was behind. So I I was way behind on so I'm like, Man, who the hell does this person everybody keep giving all this praise and love to? I'm like Then I found out who he was, but shit, you know history, man. We came good friends, but it's only a few people only a few people I call friends. ⁓ and I got a I got one handful and so you one of them, but that's why I reached out to you when I first came with the show. I said, bruh, I need you to do this show. So again R. Randle: Yeah. Appreciate that, For sure bro, no problem. JB: Appreciate you, man. ⁓ again, y'all. Thank you everybody for watching the show. And don't forget to subscribe, hit the like button and share. Again, thank y'all. Enjoy the rest of y'all day and I'm getting to the rest of raps and that's left of it. Thank you. on.
