- 0:24Well, hey guys, good afternoon, it is John
- 0:27C.
- 0:27Morley here, Serial Entrepreneur.
- 0:28Great to be with you.
- 0:30If you didn't notice, for those of you
- 0:31who are watching, I'm actually on the beautiful
- 0:33Montclair State University campus just before class today.
- 0:36And I thought, hey, why not come out
- 0:38here and do the show?
- 0:40So I always love to do this, especially
- 0:42in the great weather out here.
- 0:43It's great to have everyone here.
- 0:44If this is your very first time joining
- 0:45me, I want to take the opportunity to
- 0:47say thank you and I want to say
- 0:48welcome to you.
- 0:49If you've been here many times before and
- 0:51you're coming back, I want to say thank
- 0:52you, of course, but welcome back.
- 0:54Thank you so much for being here.
- 0:56I am on the beautiful Montclair State University
- 0:58campus, just basically adjacent right now to Sprague
- 1:02Library and a few of the other buildings,
- 1:05school communications, etc.
- 1:08And yeah, so it's great to be with
- 1:10everyone here.
- 1:11Thank you so much for being here.
- 1:13And so we have a really great show
- 1:15today, as we always do.
- 1:16And so if you are hungry or thirsty,
- 1:19feel free to go grab yourself something, whether
- 1:21that's water, whether that's fruit, it could be
- 1:24a banana.
- 1:24I know I think I have one in
- 1:25my bag here somewhere.
- 1:28Yeah, I think I have one here somewhere.
- 1:29I had brought it because, you know, later
- 1:31on when I go to class, I usually
- 1:34like some type of snack.
- 1:35So I think I have it in my
- 1:36bag here.
- 1:37I'm not going to have it, but I
- 1:38just thought I would have it to show
- 1:39you.
- 1:40Yeah, I do have it in here.
- 1:41Probably have it later.
- 1:42I've got a banana right here.
- 1:43OK, so I'll have that in between, because
- 1:45our professor gives us a little bit of
- 1:47a break and potassium is a great thing
- 1:49to have on a break.
- 1:51All right, guys, so it is great to
- 1:52be with all of you again, whether you're
- 1:54here new or you've been here many times
- 1:55before.
- 1:56Don't forget to check out BelieveMeAchieve.com for
- 1:59more of my amazing, inspiring creations.
- 2:02So I can tell you, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:06that it's important to understand what's going on,
- 2:12because a lot of people don't realize that
- 2:15they have the power to make change.
- 2:18They don't realize that, but they really do.
- 2:20Our thoughts become our reality.
- 2:22And, you know, I was listening to something
- 2:25today and a subtle shift was happening with
- 2:28me, as you know.
- 2:28Subtle shifts are great.
- 2:30Being a keynote speaker, being an author, many
- 2:32other things, as you guys know, the subtle
- 2:35shifts is what make the major changes.
- 2:38We don't think that a subtle shift is
- 2:40going to do anything for us, but it's
- 2:41the subtle little pivots in our life that
- 2:43actually get us to become a lot better
- 2:46than we already are.
- 2:48All right, guys, without further ado, let's go
- 2:49ahead and kick this show off.
- 2:52For those of you that don't know me,
- 2:54well, I'm John C.
- 2:56Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:59podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, passionate lifelong learner.
- 3:04Yes, guys, a graduate student and, of course,
- 3:07going to be an author in another month.
- 3:10This was really excited about that.
- 3:12And what do I do here?
- 3:14Well, I explore how to cultivate true and
- 3:17internal power.
- 3:19Strength isn't just about physical or external achievement,
- 3:22guys.
- 3:22It starts with habits, discipline and choices.
- 3:25When you build your inner foundation, resilience, confidence
- 3:28and momentum, well, they naturally kind of follow
- 3:31suit.
- 3:32That's important to understand.
- 3:33So by the end of this episode, which
- 3:36I think is pretty cool to to understand,
- 3:39you're going to know a lot.
- 3:42You will know something pretty interesting, which is
- 3:47how to grow your inner strength and step
- 3:51into basically a life filled with hope, purpose
- 3:54and unstoppable progress.
- 3:59Yeah, I think that's a I think that's
- 4:00a very, very important one, because a lot
- 4:05of people, like I said, they get stuck
- 4:07in the process.
- 4:09And I don't want to tell you that
- 4:11the process is hard, but I do want
- 4:14to tell you that it takes intentionality.
- 4:17So, again, welcome, everyone, to Inspirations for Your
- 4:20Life today.
- 4:22It's all about our granular topic today where
- 4:26we are going to learn how to build
- 4:27inner strength.
- 4:28We explore how to cultivate true and eternal
- 4:30power.
- 4:32Strength isn't just about physical or external achievement,
- 4:34guys.
- 4:35It starts with habits, discipline and choices.
- 4:38When you build your inner strength, your foundation,
- 4:40resilience, confidence and momentum, as I said, naturally
- 4:43will tag along.
- 4:44And I think these are important things for
- 4:47us to realize and how we can become
- 4:49unstoppable in our progress.
- 4:50Today, ladies and gentlemen, is Wednesday.
- 4:53It is March 25th.
- 4:54It is twenty twenty six.
- 4:57It is great to be with you.
- 4:58So this is a series five, which means
- 5:00we're in the fifth year.
- 5:02And so we've been on the air four
- 5:04years and basically another week or so we'll
- 5:08be on the air four years and three
- 5:10months.
- 5:11Pretty cool, right?
- 5:12So this is series five show 13 episode
- 5:14number five.
- 5:17Number one, guys, strength starts inside our core.
- 5:21True power is rooted in your internal mindset
- 5:25and self mastery.
- 5:27That's important.
- 5:28Discipline creates power.
- 5:30Number two, consistent effort daily is what turns
- 5:34potential into capability.
- 5:37I think that's a very important thing for
- 5:40us to realize is that we have so
- 5:42much power when it comes to capability, capability
- 5:47that can make changes in our life, capability
- 5:50that can get us to become, like I
- 5:51said, a better version of ourself.
- 5:54So I think these are I think these
- 5:55are very important things for us to realize
- 5:58and and they can help us, you know,
- 5:59on our journey and, you know, where we
- 6:01want to go and what we're doing.
- 6:03So I think these are definitely some very,
- 6:05very important things, guys.
- 6:07So number three, character drives.
- 6:13Results, integrity and honesty define the quality of
- 6:20your outcomes.
- 6:21A lot of people want to achieve things,
- 6:23right, but what they don't want to do
- 6:24is they don't want to actually achieve greatness.
- 6:27They want to do things so quickly and
- 6:29fast, but that's not always the way that
- 6:32it should be done.
- 6:33It should be about who you are and
- 6:37who you're becoming.
- 6:37Number four, guys, consistency builds strength.
- 6:41Small, repeated actions compound into lasting habits.
- 6:46Number five, guys, show up every day.
- 6:49Being present is the foundation for progress and
- 6:52hope.
- 6:53Number six, strength grows over time.
- 6:58Patience allows resilience to take root and to
- 7:01flourish all around us.
- 7:04Number seven, habits build identity.
- 7:07The actions you repeat form who you truly
- 7:10are and you're becoming.
- 7:11So be careful about what you think about
- 7:14and be careful about what you do because
- 7:16these things shape who you are and your
- 7:17character.
- 7:19And of course, that builds our integrity.
- 7:21Number eight, guys, discipline beats motivation.
- 7:25I've said this before.
- 7:26The D beats the M, OK?
- 7:28Motivation is great, but what can happen is
- 7:31motivation can wane.
- 7:32So discipline can get motivation to kick back
- 7:35in.
- 7:35Discipline is important.
- 7:37Motivation fades.
- 7:38Structured action carries you forward.
- 7:41And I think a lot of people, they
- 7:45think that, you know, once you're on track,
- 7:47you're just going to stay there.
- 7:49And that's true for the most part.
- 7:51But sometimes you have to tweak, you have
- 7:53to change.
- 7:53So I'm in a very important part in
- 7:55one of my companies where we're starting to
- 7:57scale.
- 7:58And so when we think about scaling, that's
- 8:03something that's a little bit daunting for anyone,
- 8:07because for a while, people would always be
- 8:09relying on me.
- 8:10And I'm realizing that, you know, as I
- 8:11grow and becoming more of an author and
- 8:14a keynote speaker, I need to train other
- 8:17people to do the tasks that I was
- 8:19doing and just be there for the real
- 8:22bigger tasks.
- 8:23Number nine, guys, inner strength builds confidence.
- 8:28Self-trust comes from repeated success in small
- 8:31actions.
- 8:32Number 10, stay committed long term.
- 8:36Consistency always outperforms sporadic bursts.
- 8:40Number 11, strength requires effort.
- 8:44OK, growth emerges when you push beyond the
- 8:47comfort zone.
- 8:48I said this before, guys.
- 8:50Success happens when we get uncomfortable.
- 8:54I didn't say painful, I said uncomfortable.
- 8:57A lot of people shy away from uncomfortability
- 9:01because it's not the most pleasant thing.
- 9:05Number 12, build daily discipline rituals and routines
- 9:09so they can create compounding advantages.
- 9:13Some people have investing routines, some people have
- 9:16fitness routines, some people have academic routines like
- 9:19myself.
- 9:21And so when you can do things like
- 9:24this, then you're able to set yourself up
- 9:28for success no matter what's around you.
- 9:31A quick story, and I'll tell you in
- 9:33a minute here, the rituals and routines, they
- 9:35create those compounding advantages.
- 9:37But so a lot of you know that
- 9:38I wear I wear a hat and I
- 9:40wear an LED hat.
- 9:41I don't have it with me today.
- 9:42I usually don't wear it on campus, but
- 9:43I have an LED hat.
- 9:44That's pretty cool.
- 9:45And the hat actually says BelieveMeAchieved.com.
- 9:48But one of the things I say, which
- 9:49is really cool, is people ask me, hey,
- 9:51John, you know, that's that's a really cool
- 9:53hat.
- 9:54First thing I say to them, I turn
- 9:56to them and I smile and I said,
- 9:57you know, thank you very much.
- 9:58I really appreciate it.
- 9:59It's part of my brand.
- 10:01And I shut up.
- 10:03And people, a lot of people laugh, smile,
- 10:05and a few people will ask, oh, gee,
- 10:08what's your brand?
- 10:09What do you do?
- 10:10I come back and say, I'm an author
- 10:15and keynote speaker.
- 10:19And some people, if they're really curious, they'll
- 10:20be like, oh, wow, what do you write
- 10:22about?
- 10:24What do you speak about?
- 10:26Thanks for asking.
- 10:29I I write and speak about helping people
- 10:33get unstuck so they can have a better
- 10:34life.
- 10:36And then if it leads into something else,
- 10:39something can happen.
- 10:41Now, what's very interesting is that I've been
- 10:44doing this for a while and recently I'm
- 10:47going to be able to ask me, hey,
- 10:48John, you know, do you get business out
- 10:50of that hat?
- 10:51And I was completely honest.
- 10:53I said, you know, the hat doesn't bring
- 10:56me business, but it does create opportunities where
- 11:00conversations like this can take place.
- 11:03And so it's up to me to take
- 11:04it to that next place.
- 11:05I'm not going to give you the whole
- 11:06thing, but I want to just share that
- 11:08with you.
- 11:08So showing up has to do with how
- 11:12we are now.
- 11:13When you are in a certain energy, when
- 11:16you show up for a relaxed state of
- 11:18being, you know what happens?
- 11:20More people want to flock to you.
- 11:23I mean, this is just kind of what
- 11:24happens.
- 11:25They want to learn about you, like they
- 11:26want to learn about my book.
- 11:28They want to learn about things I'm doing.
- 11:30And I think that's a real important thing
- 11:33is to have that humbleness in us all
- 11:36the time.
- 11:37And so I just, you know, I smile.
- 11:41And if people say to me, you know,
- 11:43oh, that's cool.
- 11:44And, you know, I thank them and say,
- 11:46you know, it's part of my brand.
- 11:47Some people will just say, oh, that's nice.
- 11:49And they won't say anything else to me.
- 11:51They just will leave that on the table.
- 11:54And that's OK.
- 11:55But there are some people that I talk
- 11:57to that literally they will ask me, hey,
- 12:00so what's your brand?
- 12:02And I go right into something, but I
- 12:04don't sell.
- 12:04I don't pitch.
- 12:06I make them more curious.
- 12:08And I think that's a challenge of a
- 12:10lot of speakers and also a lot of,
- 12:12let's say, business professionals.
- 12:16They hard sell.
- 12:17I know I was guilty of this when
- 12:19I started my business, one of my businesses,
- 12:21because you know, I own several over 30
- 12:24some years ago, 30 plus 30, 33, 34
- 12:26years ago, because there was this need that
- 12:30we had to get business.
- 12:33Now we understand that there's business around us
- 12:35and there's opportunities if we allow them to
- 12:38unfold.
- 12:39There's no rush to get the business.
- 12:42OK, but just enjoy the process.
- 12:46I think that's a real important thing.
- 12:47Number 13, guys.
- 12:49Beautiful sun out here today.
- 12:51Character creates trust.
- 12:53Character comes from your integrity, by the way.
- 12:55Consistency and integrity open doors and opportunities.
- 12:59So, I mean, some people wearing the hat
- 13:01was like, oh, yeah, I get a ton
- 13:03of business from that hat.
- 13:04And the first thing I say to myself
- 13:06is, I'm going to be honest.
- 13:08I've been wearing a hat for a long
- 13:09time.
- 13:10And yeah, it it gets people curious and
- 13:13we get to have conversations like this.
- 13:15But it's not the hat that gets me
- 13:17the business.
- 13:17It just allows me to be able to
- 13:19talk further with people.
- 13:21It's a conversation starter.
- 13:23You probably heard of those before.
- 13:24Number 14, strength builds resilience.
- 13:27The harder your internal foundation, the more you
- 13:32bounce back.
- 13:34That's cool, guys.
- 13:36Number 15, stay focused, guard your attention.
- 13:40Focus is your most valuable resource.
- 13:42Now, I know a lot of people will
- 13:43try to gain your focus, OK?
- 13:46But this is something else that I do.
- 13:49Whether I'm on a plane or I'm out
- 13:53somewhere and maybe I have my earbuds in.
- 13:56Right.
- 13:56Maybe I'm just alone or I'm doing something.
- 13:58And somebody like they're asking a question.
- 14:00I'll take off one of my ear, my
- 14:02earbuds or my ear caps that I have,
- 14:04like I have my headsets here.
- 14:06But you should have earbuds in and tune
- 14:09buds, JBL tune buds.
- 14:11And people, believe it or not, they get
- 14:16very impressed by the fact that I have
- 14:19chosen to give them 100 percent of my
- 14:22attention.
- 14:24Count on your hand.
- 14:27How many people give you undivided attention in
- 14:34a day?
- 14:36OK, in a week, in a month, in
- 14:41a year, most of you will only hit
- 14:44maybe two, maybe three.
- 14:48Unless you're doing something very unique.
- 14:51See, the big reason that you don't get
- 14:53people's attention is it's all about you, but
- 14:57I'm not important.
- 14:58I'm here to learn more about who you
- 15:00are.
- 15:01And as a keynote speaker, even though I
- 15:03have lots to share, I always tie it
- 15:06to what people are curious about.
- 15:08People say, oh, John, you do hypnosis.
- 15:11Now, what do you want to know about
- 15:11hypnosis?
- 15:12Oh, I heard it's something really cool and
- 15:13something fun, really cool and something fun.
- 15:17That they can help people.
- 15:19Yeah, I do that.
- 15:21And I come back and say, oh, well,
- 15:21gee, what can you do?
- 15:23What do you want me to do?
- 15:25And so when you throw it back in
- 15:27their court, they're like.
- 15:29A kid in a candy store.
- 15:32OK, so strive to become genuinely interested, Dale
- 15:34Carnegie said this many years ago, and I
- 15:36was very grateful to take his course, but,
- 15:38you know, I didn't learn the truth about
- 15:40Dale Carnegie until maybe about 10 years ago
- 15:44because Dale Carnegie is pretty amazing.
- 15:46But I had taken that course before I
- 15:49was literally mentally and emotionally ready to take
- 15:53that material.
- 15:54Number 16, consistency compounds, each repeat effort multiplies
- 16:00skill, confidence and clarity, strength creates stability, internal
- 16:07power allows you to handle external chaos.
- 16:12That's an important point, guys.
- 16:14Number 18, discipline builds results, systems outpour form
- 16:20randomness every time.
- 16:23OK, they outperform randomness every time when we
- 16:27are disciplined and I know getting disciplined.
- 16:32It's not easy, like, you know, if you're
- 16:34going to do your hike and it's.
- 16:37Really cold outside, you've got to bundle up
- 16:40and dress, you can't say, oh, it's raining
- 16:42or it's cold now, a different excuse, I
- 16:46don't take people on long heights in the
- 16:48mountains because it's dangerous with the ice, but
- 16:50you could still hike locally, right?
- 16:53Number 19, guys, stay steady, calm persistence ensures
- 16:58steady growth and hope through challenges.
- 17:02What I learned the last few years is
- 17:05that when we show up.
- 17:08And we don't expect and we are present.
- 17:12People are like that kid in the candy
- 17:15store and you're that candy bar or a
- 17:18different kind of candy, and it's pretty amazing.
- 17:20I found the reason why most people aren't
- 17:22successful and it's going to blow you away.
- 17:24And the reason most people are not successful
- 17:26is, I'll tell you this right now, they
- 17:28try too hard.
- 17:29They try to impress people.
- 17:31They try to prove something.
- 17:33If you're trying to do that, you need
- 17:35to change your style because nobody wants to
- 17:38be sold.
- 17:39Nobody wants to be impressed.
- 17:42So become interested in the other person.
- 17:44Don't worry about being interesting.
- 17:46Become interested in them.
- 17:49Number 20, guys, strength grows quietly.
- 17:54True growth is rarely flashy.
- 17:57It's continuous and deliberate.
- 18:00That's important.
- 18:02Number 21, build from within self-awareness and
- 18:07intentional choices.
- 18:08They set the stage for real impact in
- 18:10your life to take place.
- 18:13And what I didn't realize a while back
- 18:14is.
- 18:16Success doesn't happen with all the flair.
- 18:20Success happens by you being a humble, genuine
- 18:24person.
- 18:25And you might say, John, but I've been
- 18:27doing that.
- 18:28OK, you've been doing that.
- 18:30I was doing that for a long time,
- 18:31too.
- 18:32When you do it and you have it
- 18:33and you have this motive to try to
- 18:37get something out of them or to try
- 18:38to persuade them.
- 18:41OK, what's going to happen is.
- 18:44You are going to elicit certain body behavioral
- 18:49signs, and I said to you what we
- 18:51don't say says more than what we how
- 18:55we say it, and the last thing is
- 18:57what we say.
- 18:58That's the least important.
- 19:00When you show up and when you actually
- 19:03are humble, your body has a certain energy
- 19:06around it, like, hey.
- 19:09He's approachable, not, hey, he's an author, I
- 19:13can't talk to him, no, I'm happy to
- 19:15talk to him.
- 19:17So I think that's a big misconception.
- 19:20Being an author, being a speaker, I'm not
- 19:22better than anybody.
- 19:24I have lots of experience and I want
- 19:26to share it with other people that are
- 19:28willing to listen and make changes in their
- 19:30lives.
- 19:31Number 22, guys, consistency, it wins.
- 19:35Momentum favors those who act regularly, not those
- 19:39that pop in occasionally.
- 19:41Right.
- 19:41Those that decide to log their let's say
- 19:44their stuff from the gym once in a
- 19:46while, you know what happens?
- 19:48Well, I'm going to tell you they it
- 19:50doesn't work for them.
- 19:51It does not work for them.
- 19:53And here's why.
- 19:54It doesn't work for them because they're doing
- 19:57it once in their life.
- 19:59Right.
- 19:59If you invest one dollar in the bank,
- 20:01is that anything for you?
- 20:02Probably not.
- 20:03But if you invested one dollar for three
- 20:07or four years, that'd be a nice return.
- 20:09And then maybe the compound on I'm just
- 20:10giving you an example.
- 20:11Number 23, guys, strength builds momentum.
- 20:15Every completed task fuels the next one.
- 20:18Accelerating progress is the key in life.
- 20:22Number 24.
- 20:24You ready for number 24?
- 20:25Hope you are.
- 20:26Stay strong.
- 20:28Daily, small, regular efforts compound into unstoppable hope
- 20:33and power.
- 20:37Yeah.
- 20:39Discipline builds success, guys.
- 20:42Following through on commitments multiplies influence.
- 20:48Number 26, strength creates control.
- 20:53The ability to direct yourself sets the course
- 20:56of your life.
- 20:59But I think too often.
- 21:01We're trying to figure out which way to
- 21:03go and we're not allowing the water or
- 21:06the environment to just let us flow when
- 21:11you're there and you don't have an agenda
- 21:14and you just let things flow.
- 21:17You have an intention, but your own agenda
- 21:18is in a difference.
- 21:19Intention means you want it to happen.
- 21:21The other means you're going to push something.
- 21:23Intention means, yes, I want this to happen,
- 21:25but I'm not going to push it.
- 21:27That's the intention.
- 21:28It might be with you.
- 21:29It might be with somebody else.
- 21:30It's an intention.
- 21:31OK, my intention is to have amazing, interesting,
- 21:36great conversations with people.
- 21:38Through many places that I go to, another
- 21:41intention of mine is to broadcast my shows
- 21:45in public venues where people can stop and
- 21:48ask questions or whatnot.
- 21:51Another intention of mine is by next year
- 21:53to still do stuff like this, but do
- 21:57more of non podcast, more of like sitting
- 22:01down like I'm sitting down here.
- 22:02But I mean, more studio wise where, you
- 22:04know, we can shoot basically the whole body.
- 22:07It's not sitting in a chair, a little
- 22:08bit different, more like TV.
- 22:09So I want to go there next year.
- 22:11Maybe even get a channel on Roku.
- 22:12Who knows?
- 22:13Number twenty seven.
- 22:15Keep going.
- 22:17Perseverance under pressure turns challenges into growth.
- 22:22It really does.
- 22:23Number twenty eight.
- 22:24Inner strength lasts, physical abilities, they fade.
- 22:30If you don't do the exercises, guess what
- 22:32happens?
- 22:33You lose your strength.
- 22:37OK.
- 22:38But you see, inner strength.
- 22:41Blasts our mental power, what we set up
- 22:45in our mind, what we set up with
- 22:46these pathways that lasts, OK, not the physical
- 22:51stuff we do and our character and our
- 22:57trust basically endure from that.
- 22:59So it's kind of like a whole circle
- 23:01that we're going around.
- 23:02Right.
- 23:03The physical thing that we're doing is great
- 23:05because it helps us with our mental.
- 23:08Right.
- 23:09And our mental is good, helps the physical.
- 23:10So it kind of comes hand in hand.
- 23:12So even though, you know, you might lose
- 23:14if you're not doing the weights like I
- 23:16do weights every night, if you're not doing
- 23:18the weights, you might lose that, let's say,
- 23:20physicalness for a while.
- 23:21But the mental, OK, if you tie it
- 23:25together, can make sure it always lasts.
- 23:27Number twenty nine.
- 23:28Build habits that matter.
- 23:31Focus on small, consistent wins that align with
- 23:34your core values.
- 23:38I'm going to talk about values that you
- 23:40just pop on the street.
- 23:41I'm talking about values that resonate with who
- 23:44you are as a person, and these values
- 23:47actually make, I'm going to say, a real
- 23:50difference in your life.
- 23:52But a lot of people are not going
- 23:55to be where you are right now.
- 23:56And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 23:57Everybody's at a different phase in their life
- 24:00and we need to respect that.
- 24:02OK, but you might be further along on
- 24:05the journey.
- 24:05You might be in the middle of the
- 24:07journey.
- 24:07You might be in the beginning of the
- 24:08journey.
- 24:09Everyone can still help each other.
- 24:12Number 30, guys.
- 24:14Our strength.
- 24:17Sustains growth, internal power allows you to expand,
- 24:23inspire and maintain the hope for yourself and
- 24:26others, and hope is a real big one,
- 24:30right?
- 24:30Hope is not just like, I hope this
- 24:33happens.
- 24:34Hope causes a chemical reaction with our brain.
- 24:41With the different things like serotonin and endorphins
- 24:45in our brain.
- 24:46And this causes a natural high in our
- 24:48body.
- 24:49This natural high in our body gets us
- 24:52excited to do things.
- 24:55And then once the light switches on, the
- 24:57rest of body's like, oh, I'm all in,
- 24:59right?
- 24:59I'm all in.
- 25:00Like, what happens when you go to a
- 25:01swimming pool, right?
- 25:02And the water's it's not quite 80 or
- 25:05it's not really warm.
- 25:06So you put your toe in and that's
- 25:08probably the worst thing you could do because
- 25:09you're like, oh, I don't know if I
- 25:10want to go and it's cold.
- 25:11Instead, you just take your shirt off and
- 25:12you just jump right in the pool with
- 25:14your bathing suit on, right?
- 25:15Like I'm all in, right?
- 25:17You're in.
- 25:19You dove right in and you jumped right
- 25:21in.
- 25:21When you try to put the foot in,
- 25:23you try to put the finger.
- 25:24It's like, oh, it's cold.
- 25:25I think I want to wait.
- 25:26So don't put the foot in, just go
- 25:28jump in the water.
- 25:32And that's the point.
- 25:33A lot of people don't jump right in.
- 25:35Oh, what if it's cold?
- 25:37Or what if I jump in and I
- 25:40don't know, I get my hair wet.
- 25:41This is what some people say.
- 25:42What if I jump in and I don't
- 25:46know, I jump in and I start to
- 25:49shiver.
- 25:50Oh, we'll get out and get a towel.
- 25:52Right.
- 25:53You're not doing it in 20.
- 25:53You're not doing a polar bear swim.
- 25:55Okay.
- 25:55But my point is a lot of people
- 25:57don't jump in.
- 25:58They don't take the action to move forward.
- 26:02Is it sending a proposal?
- 26:04Is it calling a friend?
- 26:06Is it sending an email?
- 26:07Is it taking a walk?
- 26:09Is it, you know, trying to put a
- 26:13resume together so you can get a good
- 26:14job?
- 26:16Is it learning a new skill, whether that's
- 26:19a college level, undergrad or graduate like myself,
- 26:23or is it something else?
- 26:26Is it taking up a new hobby?
- 26:29Maybe you want to sing and you've sung
- 26:31before.
- 26:32Maybe you want to learn pottery.
- 26:33Or maybe you want to learn archery or
- 26:37skeet shooting or a variety of other things.
- 26:41These things can do a couple of things.
- 26:43One, they can help build our physical ability.
- 26:45They can also help build our mental ability
- 26:46and they also can help us connect with
- 26:48other people.
- 26:50There was a wise phrase said by someone
- 26:52a long time ago that things in the
- 26:55world don't just happen without a reason.
- 27:01Everything happens for a reason.
- 27:02So if you're not happy the way something
- 27:04is going, embrace that and know that things
- 27:08are going to get better.
