- 0:14Welcome dear soul. I'm really happy you're here.
- 0:18Whether this is your very first time listening or you've been
- 0:22walking with me for a while, thank you for being here right
- 0:27now. This is the first episode of the
- 0:31new year, a new beginning, and I want to start this year with a
- 0:37very conscious choice. Today I want to speak about love
- 0:43and forgiveness. Not the easy kind, not the
- 0:47polished kind, but the lift kind.
- 0:52The kind we choose again and again, even when all the
- 0:58patterns get triggered. If you don't know me yet, if you
- 1:03don't know where I come from, let me tell you this honestly.
- 1:09I do not come from a family where love and forgiveness were
- 1:15the strongest pillars. I come from generations where
- 1:20parents and children were enclosed, where siblings didn't
- 1:25get along very well, where judgement, mistrust and
- 1:30resentment quietly shaped relationships.
- 1:36Let me share a little about my parents so you can see the
- 1:41bigger picture. My father turned 91 a few days
- 1:47ago. He has been sceptical his whole
- 1:51life. When someone approaches him with
- 1:55openness or kindness, his first reaction is often doubt.
- 2:02People aren't friendly. You have to be careful.
- 2:06I heard these sentences again and again while growing up when
- 2:13he wrote his memoirs, which I later turned into a book.
- 2:18He spoke a lot about people who disappointed him during his
- 2:23career as a high school director and as president of a pension
- 2:29fund. And last year when I prepared
- 2:33the sale of his 111 year old house, he told me repeatedly, be
- 2:41careful, there are so many stumbling blocks.
- 2:46Don't trust. And every time he said this,
- 2:52something became very clear to me.
- 2:56I saw how deeply this mistrust had shamed him and at the same
- 3:03time I realised how far I had come because my default mode has
- 3:10changed. In my mother's family, there was
- 3:15a lot of resentment carried over decades.
- 3:20My mom passed away last year, and at the end of her life there
- 3:26were very few people she spoke about with warmth, and that
- 3:32broke my heart. Resentment hurts.
- 3:37It doesn't just hurt emotionally, it hurts physically
- 3:42too. Holding bitterness poisons the
- 3:46system slowly from the inside. And This is why I want to choose
- 3:53differently this year. When I wake up in the morning, I
- 3:59want to remind myself I choose love.
- 4:04I choose trust. I choose love even when I'm not
- 4:09treated kindly, because every human being carries their own
- 4:15burdens, their own wounds, their own story.
- 4:21I choose trust first because mistrust creates tension and
- 4:28negative energy, and I don't want that in my body anymore.
- 4:35And I also choose to be generous with myself because I know
- 4:42myself. I will stumble.
- 4:45I will fall back into emotions I didn't want to feel.
- 4:50I will overreact. I will sometimes not be kind
- 4:56enough to my two sons, to someone on the phone, to myself.
- 5:03I am human and you are human, and we don't heal by being harsh
- 5:13with ourselves, we heal by being gentle.
- 5:19Forgiveness does not mean approving what happened.
- 5:25Love does not mean allowing everything.
- 5:30And choosing love does not mean losing boundaries.
- 5:35Sometimes choosing love simply means this.
- 5:41I don't want to carry this heaviness anymore.
- 5:45I don't want my nervous system to live in constant defence.
- 5:51I don't want my body to hold stories that no longer serve me.
- 5:59Because our bodies remember. They remember what our minds try
- 6:06to forget, and when we hold onto resentment for too long, it
- 6:13tightens our chest, steals our breath, and hardens our hearts.
- 6:22Love, on the other hand, softens.
- 6:26It creates space. It allows life to flow again.
- 6:33This choice to soften instead of harden.
- 6:38It's not something we make once, it's something we practice.
- 6:47Some days it feels easy, other days it feels almost impossible.
- 6:54And still the choice remains. The beautiful thing is this.
- 7:01It is never too late to start again.
- 7:06Not tomorrow, not next year, but today, this afternoon, this
- 7:14evening, I can choose love again.
- 7:19Because I fell down, because I overreacted, because I wasn't
- 7:26proud of myself. I can always come back.
- 7:31Life can be messy. Life can feel unfair, but the
- 7:37real power lies in how I choose to react.
- 7:44Do I see what happens to me as a burden or as a gift to learn
- 7:50something new? What meaning do I give to my
- 7:55daily stories? Do I scold myself or do I help
- 8:01myself move into a more beautiful inner state?
- 8:07Dear listener, if you believe you don't have much control over
- 8:13your life, I gently invite you to question that thought.
- 8:20You have more control than you think because you are the one
- 8:26who gives meaning to what happens to you.
- 8:30And when you choose love or bitterness, when you choose
- 8:36trust or resentment, you create a life more beautiful than the
- 8:43one you may have learned from your family.
- 8:49So let this be your reminder. I choose love.
- 8:55I choose trust even when the circumstances aren't positive.
- 9:04I promise you this. When you are ready to let go of
- 9:09old family patterns and create new ones and choose them again
- 9:16and again, you will change more than you ever imagined.
- 9:22And if you feel that something inside you is ready to shift, if
- 9:29you want support in gently releasing old patterns and
- 9:34emotional weight, Ioffer one-on-one coaching sessions.
- 9:40They are a safe and compassionate space, A space for
- 9:46honesty, for clarity, for change that feels light, not forced.
- 9:55You'll find all the details in the show notes, and if you feel
- 10:00a quiet yes inside, I'd love to walk a piece of this path with
- 10:07you. I wish you the most beautiful
- 10:10ear, a ear full of love and trust.
- 10:16Love for yourself and love for others.
- 10:21Thank you for listening, and thank you for choosing love.
