Transcript
- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Gatesleepers, the pop culture game show
- 0:21Speaker 1: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:25Speaker 1: games master and cozy motherly owner of a Killer Robot Corporation,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Matt Watson. But a games master needs games, and games
- 0:33Speaker 1: need players, so please welcome.
- 0:35Speaker 2: First.
- 0:35Speaker 1: They are our resident duo of comic book writers, artists,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and podcasters. Check out the kickstarter for Space Oddity's issue three.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And when I think about sci fi comedy, well, I
- 0:47Speaker 1: first of all think about Fry and Bender, but then
- 0:49Speaker 1: I think about Ben Robinson and John Williams.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Fair.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm happy being second.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I figured that'd be okay. How you guys doing,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm doing great, Yeah, doing really well.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I'm excited. I was watching some some Futurama clips on
- 1:06Speaker 2: the way up and uh and I'm ready to go.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I'm in the zone. Nice.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hopefully, hopefully I'll test some Futurama trivia. Maybe that will
- 1:14Speaker 1: happen a long way. Oh, but let's get straight into
- 1:19Speaker 1: it with some some Futurama chats. Ben, when did you
- 1:23Speaker 1: first get into Futurama?
- 1:24Speaker 3: So not when it first came out, because it came
- 1:27Speaker 3: out like I think our junior year of high school
- 1:30Speaker 3: somewhere right around there.
- 1:31Speaker 2: My memory is not that good.
- 1:32Speaker 3: It was junior senior. It was right near the end
- 1:34Speaker 3: of high school, and I remember being super stoked because
- 1:36Speaker 3: it was like, oh shit, Matt Groening's doing something else.
- 1:38Speaker 3: You did the Simpsons. I love the Simpsons, and I
- 1:40Speaker 3: watched episode one and I was like, this is dumb.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I don't think it's funny at all. I didn't laugh,
- 1:46Speaker 3: and I like wrote it off and then it wasn't.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It was like, it wasn't until like season three when
- 1:50Speaker 3: I heard people talking about it. I was like, okay,
- 1:51Speaker 3: and I got I caught some episodes or something, but
- 1:54Speaker 3: I watched it and I was like, oh, oh, I
- 1:56Speaker 3: was wrong. This is fucking hilarious. What a fool I've been.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And so it was probably when I was like nineteen
- 2:04Speaker 3: twenty somewhere around there that I've, you know, post high school,
- 2:07Speaker 3: that I finally realized the error of my ways and
- 2:10Speaker 3: learned to love Futurama.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you had the classic hipster reaction of like, oh,
- 2:15Speaker 1: the successful Simpsons guys doing another thing, screwed this, and
- 2:19Speaker 1: then it turns out to actually be quite good.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I was excited about it, but like I was watched,
- 2:23Speaker 3: I was like, this isn't the Simpsons. This is different,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and you know, it's like and I was comparing it
- 2:28Speaker 3: to like peak Simpsons and not season one episode one
- 2:31Speaker 3: of the Simpsons either.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, we'll talk about it was nineteen ninety nine
- 2:34Speaker 1: at this point.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 3: But yeah, you go back and you uh, you know,
- 2:37Speaker 3: the first episode is all you know, Yeah, the characters
- 2:40Speaker 3: aren't established, you don't know the tropes, and everything's just
- 2:44Speaker 3: a little rough and stiff it always is.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot a lot of sat up in the
- 2:48Speaker 1: first episode of Futurama for sure. H Well, I mean
- 2:51Speaker 1: what about you, John, were you like immediately into Futurama,
- 2:54Speaker 1: did it hook you right away?
- 2:56Speaker 4: No?
- 2:56Speaker 2: I mean it's it's basically the same story.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yeah, we pretty much did that together.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I do. I do remember. I remember where
- 3:07Speaker 2: I was when I when I started to become obsessed
- 3:10Speaker 2: with with Futurama. You know, when when it really clicked in.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It was a certain house that Ben lived in Casabella,
- 3:16Speaker 2: and so that would have been two thousand and four
- 3:18Speaker 2: where it really just everything started to make sense. And
- 3:22Speaker 2: then you go back and you watch those first few episodes,
- 3:25Speaker 2: there's still really rough. But I mean, if we would
- 3:27Speaker 2: have given it four episodes in the beginning, like I
- 3:30Speaker 2: probably would have been a fan from the start. But
- 3:33Speaker 2: you know, yeah, it was such a shock when that
- 3:35Speaker 2: first episode came out that that you just you turned
- 3:38Speaker 2: yourself off to it, and then years later you discover
- 3:41Speaker 2: how brilliant it is and I love the show to death.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's that's great. I must say. When I
- 3:47Speaker 1: was looking back at the episodes of like the titles
- 3:49Speaker 1: and see what I remembered about the storylines, it was
- 3:52Speaker 1: more like the season two season three episodes though, like
- 3:54Speaker 1: the ones that really stood out as the Oh they
- 3:57Speaker 1: had a really clever premise there, or that's an interesting
- 3:59Speaker 1: thing to at. Those are basically mean the same thing,
- 4:02Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, there's a lot of
- 4:04Speaker 1: premise setting up in the in the first batch of
- 4:07Speaker 1: episodes or on the first DVD as I consume them
- 4:11Speaker 1: as like a box disc one skip it, yeah exactly exactly.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Just don't skip and just watch it last. You'll get
- 4:19Speaker 3: the other you'll build the love for it. Then you
- 4:22Speaker 3: can go back and appreciate the earlier stuff a bit more.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah, classic sci fi stuff. Get the prequels afterwards. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 1: all right, good stuff. Well, it sounds like your Futurama
- 4:32Speaker 1: fans you got do you do you back your knowledge?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Do you think you've got a good Futurama knowledge the ish?
- 4:37Speaker 3: I mean, you know, at least as good as anything
- 4:40Speaker 3: else I've had coming into this show, and that hasn't
- 4:43Speaker 3: helped me, So why would it now?
- 4:46Speaker 2: I feel I feel like I've known a lot about Futurama,
- 4:50Speaker 2: but I also feel like I've forgotten a lot about
- 4:53Speaker 2: Futurama over the years. But but I I feel reasonably confident. Yeah, okay,
- 4:58Speaker 2: good stuff.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Okay, it sounds like you've got some knowledge, but you'll
- 5:01Speaker 1: also need some opponents. I introduced you too as a pert,
- 5:05Speaker 1: so I'll do the same for your opponents. They are
- 5:08Speaker 1: a resident pair of people who are happy to play
- 5:10Speaker 1: gate Leapers, even if they don't know much about a fandom.
- 5:14Speaker 1: When I think about the people who've had my back
- 5:16Speaker 1: when times are tough, well I think about Fryan Bender,
- 5:19Speaker 1: But then I also think about Dr Stevenson and Chris Reagan.
- 5:26Speaker 5: To lose today at one hip absolutely absolutely couldn't be
- 5:34Speaker 5: a more fun I guess episode of gate Leapers to
- 5:38Speaker 5: plan to lose.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, because it's a silly one. I'm planning on
- 5:43Speaker 6: having a good time exactly. That's what's about.
- 5:46Speaker 1: No one gets too serious about Futurama, right right, I
- 5:51Speaker 1: mean I'm sure.
- 5:53Speaker 3: So no one here, that's true.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It depends on what you're saying about it.
- 6:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, I mean I've got to ask you
- 6:03Speaker 1: about your your Futurrama knowledge, because you don't sound all
- 6:06Speaker 1: too confident.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Ultra ultra your knowledge.
- 6:09Speaker 6: I know everything. I'm great friends with a binder. We're
- 6:17Speaker 6: great friends.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Always get to be friends with fictional characters.
- 6:24Speaker 6: I have seen a bit of Futurama here and there.
- 6:27Speaker 6: I think in our first apartment we may have watched
- 6:30Speaker 6: the first four seasons, but that was lifetimes ago.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was that was pre Pandy. Were supposed
- 6:39Speaker 1: to remember those times. It was eras a pre.
- 6:44Speaker 5: Pandy doesn't even exist, if we're being honest, it doesn't.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's myth. Now it's a time, it'll be
- 6:51Speaker 1: four times a different era.
- 6:54Speaker 6: So I I have a general understanding of the concepts
- 6:58Speaker 6: at play. Most of the characters. He falls asleep for
- 7:02Speaker 6: a thousand years, I know that. Sure, Yeah, it's a
- 7:04Speaker 6: big sleep yep. I also like to do big sleeps.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So there we go.
- 7:08Speaker 6: I think I'm gonna do great.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and Chris, what about you? Futurama fan?
- 7:13Speaker 5: So, I've always liked Futurama. It's one of those shows
- 7:16Speaker 5: where I've never watched a lot of it. I've I've
- 7:20Speaker 5: I feel like I've consumed a lot of Futurama over
- 7:22Speaker 5: my entire life, but it's never been like sequentially, I
- 7:26Speaker 5: don't remember shit from it. I watched a handful of
- 7:30Speaker 5: YouTube videos before this to like brush ice on the names,
- 7:34Speaker 5: mostly because I I don't remember anything, but it was
- 7:42Speaker 5: starting to unlock some memories and it really is just
- 7:45Speaker 5: a great job. I watching those like it was a
- 7:48Speaker 5: It was like a timeline of events that happened in Futurama.
- 7:51Speaker 5: I was like, shit, I really do need to watch this.
- 7:53Speaker 5: I need to go through the entire show. This is
- 7:55Speaker 5: so good. I'm I'm just laughing at the concepts of
- 7:58Speaker 5: the episodes. So I like it. I just haven't watched
- 8:03Speaker 5: much of it because there's too much content in the world.
- 8:06Speaker 5: You're right, You're right, and I end up just rewatching
- 8:08Speaker 5: stuff instead of watching new things.
- 8:10Speaker 6: So well, we'll make a pact, you and I.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Chris, Yes, we're gonna watch through all as soon as
- 8:17Speaker 1: you've done with this Futurama Coiz, you're gonna watch Futurama.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna have watch party, oh all the way through.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Oh my god, Oh my god for live stream.
- 8:30Speaker 1: All right, well, I think we got a classic match
- 8:33Speaker 1: up here of some some longtime fans and some people
- 8:36Speaker 1: who've had maybe the passing knowledge of Futurama throughout culture.
- 8:41Speaker 1: All right, good news everyone, you've just been unfrozen in
- 8:45Speaker 1: the twenty nine ninety nine and you need to assign
- 8:49Speaker 1: yourself some team names. So I'd like each beat to
- 8:51Speaker 1: come up with a Futurama themed team name. Please, let's
- 8:54Speaker 1: start with Ben and John.
- 8:56Speaker 6: What have you got?
- 8:57Speaker 2: I've got so many.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a bunch, but I whittled it down
- 9:01Speaker 3: to three and or four, But all right, go for it.
- 9:06Speaker 3: First one is a robot house.
- 9:12Speaker 2: And your voice is better than mine.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Would have been the the Icy Wieners.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yes, I was saving that for the last time. I
- 9:21Speaker 2: would have to be spelled I period periods.
- 9:26Speaker 3: If we want to get a little more sad, we
- 9:27Speaker 3: could be the Petrified Seamours.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Oh yes, is that a dog, I've got dolomite dogs.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And uh then if we if we feel like our
- 9:37Speaker 3: knowledge is wide but not very deep, we could be
- 9:41Speaker 3: the hypno.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Chodesh that it is very well played.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That all right, well I'll just rattle these off as
- 9:58Speaker 2: quick as possible. Then no kidding, geez, I've got the
- 10:04Speaker 2: thing longers, yes, bachelor chow, brain slugs, the men who
- 10:11Speaker 2: have no name, Zap Brannigan, uh, suicide booths, earthakens, probulators,
- 10:18Speaker 2: and then that's it for ones that we didn't repeat.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm I'm a big fan of icy Wieners.
- 10:25Speaker 3: As so as I like those were my top two?
- 10:26Speaker 3: Is icy, the Icy Wieners or the hypno chi.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I saved icy Wieners for the very end of
- 10:30Speaker 2: my list because that was my favorite.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very Look, it's good. It's gonna be penis
- 10:35Speaker 1: based either way.
- 10:36Speaker 3: So we got it to get a dick joke.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's win win.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Icy Wieners. It is, yeah awesome, yep.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Sure, then during quick fire we can we can just
- 10:49Speaker 2: shout wiener.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Yep, you've hacked the game. We'll find a way. Lovely stuff.
- 10:57Speaker 1: So we've got icy Wieners let's fight who they're going
- 11:00Speaker 1: to be facing Christ.
- 11:02Speaker 6: I've got four incredible lay them on me.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Okay, I got the meat bags, the slurm queens, the nabyloneans.
- 11:14Speaker 5: I just like that word a lot, so had it
- 11:17Speaker 5: at it and then just death by snooze snoo so
- 11:22Speaker 5: that that's all I could think of. I'm partial to
- 11:26Speaker 5: slurm queens.
- 11:27Speaker 6: I am quite partial to slurm queens that I think
- 11:31Speaker 6: it connotes the air of authority that I want to have,
- 11:35Speaker 6: but also undermines it immediately by.
- 11:37Speaker 3: The use of the word slurm.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Is it fair to say that slim queens is a
- 11:43Speaker 1: little brat summer like it gives?
- 11:47Speaker 5: Oh? It does. So she's a little messy, she drinks
- 11:54Speaker 5: her own slurm.
- 11:55Speaker 1: It is summer, Okay, slim queens.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Absolutely.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I'm just gonna take a moment of silence for hypno chode.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yes, I've been trying to be silent this time. I
- 12:12Speaker 2: did get it out of my head.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Mors Born the lost rip.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Today we have the ic Wieners versus the slim Queens.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I love it. So Futurama all right, And if you're
- 12:25Speaker 1: listening to this and thinking, well, sure, I've seen the Simpsons,
- 12:28Speaker 1: but I never already got around to his other one.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Don't worry his order with a little segment we like
- 12:33Speaker 1: to call passing Knowledge.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Futurama is a comedy sci fi animated sitcom that debuted
- 12:43Speaker 6: in nineteen ninety nine and has been on again, off
- 12:46Speaker 6: again ever since. Just like Fry and Leela's romance. Created
- 12:51Speaker 6: by Matt Groening of Simpson's fame, Futurama follows Fry, a
- 12:55Speaker 6: delivery boy from the late twentieth century, as he navigates
- 12:59Speaker 6: life in the thirty first century. Also as a delivery boy,
- 13:04Speaker 6: he has a robot friend Bender, a captain and a
- 13:07Speaker 6: crush Leela, a great great grand nephew Professor Farnsworth, coworkers
- 13:13Speaker 6: in Amy and Hermes, and a crustacean physician in Doctor Zoidberg.
- 13:17Speaker 6: The show uses a retro futurist environment to parody events, brands,
- 13:22Speaker 6: and people from the twenty first century. For example, Richard
- 13:26Speaker 6: Nixon's head in a jar is President of Earth. Climate
- 13:29Speaker 6: change is solved because a nuclear winter balances things out,
- 13:32Speaker 6: and Jingoism is routinely mocked, as it should be. Mostly
- 13:37Speaker 6: a cartoon filled with silly gags. In reference humor. Futurama
- 13:41Speaker 6: also has touching moments echoing the golden age of the Simpsons.
- 13:45Speaker 6: And if you're wondering why cartoons aren't allowed to be
- 13:48Speaker 6: silly and heartfelt in twenty twenty four, it's because those
- 13:52Speaker 6: people now make indie games. Futurama has been canceled and
- 13:56Speaker 6: revived more times than Jerry Seinfeld thinks he has, with
- 14:00Speaker 6: its latest run returning to Hulu via Disney in twenty
- 14:04Speaker 6: twenty three. So there's a chance that Futurama will continue
- 14:07Speaker 6: in some form until the year three thousand. Let's play
- 14:11Speaker 6: gate Leapers.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Thank you Adra.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Just before we get to today's games, I've asked each
- 14:18Speaker 1: player to bring in amuse something that inspires them or
- 14:21Speaker 1: something they love from this particular fandom. Futurama is inspiring
- 14:25Speaker 1: to me because by the year three thousand, it predicts
- 14:27Speaker 1: an endless corporate bureaucracy, with presidents serving five terms and
- 14:32Speaker 1: sex robots out numbering the human population, something we'll only
- 14:35Speaker 1: have to wait till the twenty thirties for.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Thank God.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Okay, Ben, we will start with you over on Icy Wieners.
- 14:46Speaker 1: What's inspiring you from the world of tomorrow?
- 14:49Speaker 3: So I was I was trying to come up with
- 14:51Speaker 3: something like singular and but it ended up with something conceptual.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Just the absolute relentlessness of the parody in this show.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I think that that that's what really gets Like it's
- 15:02Speaker 3: the the joke per minute, Like the density of jokes
- 15:07Speaker 3: is insane. And like when I was trying to come
- 15:09Speaker 3: up with team names, and I think they kind of
- 15:10Speaker 3: picked up a pattern here with most everybody else as well.
- 15:13Speaker 3: You're trying to do like some word play on something
- 15:15Speaker 3: from the show, and it's like, well that was You're
- 15:17Speaker 3: doing wordplay of something that was also it was already parodied,
- 15:21Speaker 3: Like every single thing in the show is a parody
- 15:23Speaker 3: of something else, and so you're trying to then do
- 15:26Speaker 3: like some wordplay parody of something that was already wordplay parody,
- 15:29Speaker 3: and it's this weird recursive thing.
- 15:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and you end up falling back on reference Huba.
- 15:34Speaker 1: That still pops us just as much because it's like
- 15:37Speaker 1: you said, it's it's gag a minute, it's like it's
- 15:39Speaker 1: more than that, it's gag a second.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah, there's Yeah, there's very little downtime, and when they
- 15:44Speaker 3: do utilize downtime, they use it very well. Yes, is
- 15:48Speaker 3: making you sad about a dog or reflective about his
- 15:52Speaker 3: brother actually liking him. Like, there's like that like that,
- 15:56Speaker 3: there's some good touching episodes where they where they stop
- 15:59Speaker 3: the PA already for just a moment and then get
- 16:01Speaker 3: right back to it. Yes, great, it's just the flawless formula.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, there'll be a touching moment and then bend or
- 16:07Speaker 1: l fought fire or something like that. Yeah, it's good stuff, incredible. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 1: that's a that's a good one. I think that's the
- 16:14Speaker 1: closest you can get to summing up that concept for sure.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And it's a it's a great concept that is throughout Futurama.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Good stuff, very inspiring. Let's move on over to your
- 16:23Speaker 1: icy ween as teammate, John, what's inspiring you?
- 16:27Speaker 2: I'm also going conceptual because with something like this it's
- 16:31Speaker 2: so huge that that to me, it's difficult to pinpoint
- 16:36Speaker 2: one thing that you could draw inspiration from. So what
- 16:40Speaker 2: what I'm drawing inspiration from today is the concept of
- 16:45Speaker 2: stupid wonder that that a character like Fry has to
- 16:51Speaker 2: have for for you know, it's it's like an expositional
- 16:54Speaker 2: tool for the UH for the entire series. You know,
- 16:57Speaker 2: we're like we're seeing it through Fry's eyes and that
- 17:00Speaker 2: you know, he's just going through like an idiot. He's
- 17:04Speaker 2: an idiot in the future, so he just gets to
- 17:07Speaker 2: experience all this cool new ship and you know that
- 17:10Speaker 2: that's sort of how I'm how I'm entering the game today. Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 2: you know, we got we got some some interesting stuff
- 17:15Speaker 2: that's going to be happening that I don't understand exactly.
- 17:19Speaker 2: So uh, it's it's gonna hopefully it'll be It'll be
- 17:22Speaker 2: a wonderful time. Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Absolutely, I totally understand that as like as a as
- 17:27Speaker 1: a premise within the show. For first, yeah, just kicking
- 17:31Speaker 1: off storylines is just Fry is dumb and curious, like
- 17:34Speaker 1: Fry acts like a cat, and yeah, that kicks off
- 17:38Speaker 1: a lot of stories. But yeah, Gayleapers can sometimes be
- 17:41Speaker 1: a bit a bit of a wild ride. I often
- 17:43Speaker 1: try and say, like, oh, if I can make guests
- 17:47Speaker 1: feel like they're sort of like like the protagonist from
- 17:50Speaker 1: that franchise is they're making the way through through these games,
- 17:52Speaker 1: then I've done a good I've done a good job,
- 17:54Speaker 1: but I feel bad that I've now I'm now like, oh, yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're now and frozen and an own scenario you're about
- 18:01Speaker 1: to play many games that you don't understand, and I'm sorry, but.
- 18:04Speaker 6: You're gonna have a great time doing it.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, it's gonna be It's gonna be fun no
- 18:09Speaker 2: matter what if, if experience says anything, and I think
- 18:12Speaker 2: I think Ben goes into every episode under those circumstances,
- 18:15Speaker 2: so it's nothing new for him. You don't have to
- 18:16Speaker 2: feel bad like.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Stumbling my way through life.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Hell yes, very inspiring stuff. Let's move on over to
- 18:24Speaker 1: the slurm Queens or Joe. We'll start with you. What's
- 18:27Speaker 1: inspiring you from Futurama?
- 18:29Speaker 6: So something about me that people may not know because
- 18:32Speaker 6: they don't the live with me. I regularly use the
- 18:39Speaker 6: wrong intonation when I'm saying things. I'll say, I'll say something,
- 18:45Speaker 6: but I'll that'll be like, oh yes, I understand, but
- 18:48Speaker 6: my tone will be I don't, I don't know, like
- 18:51Speaker 6: the fully wrong incorrect.
- 18:54Speaker 1: This was a super common thing on Drinkipedia back in
- 18:56Speaker 1: the day. I think, whereas what we have more conversation
- 18:58Speaker 1: based stuff. You'd say up something like it was going
- 19:01Speaker 1: to be really good news about a history or the moment,
- 19:04Speaker 1: yeah something, and then it would be the worst ever.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Horrific that everyone was murder like it's just like my
- 19:13Speaker 6: and then they all died type of a situation. This
- 19:17Speaker 6: is used heavily in the first couple episodes. FRI's nephew,
- 19:22Speaker 6: I should know the doctor the scientist, great nephew, Yes, yes.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Should Okay, we're early on. I'll give you Professor Fondsworth.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Professor Harnsburth. This regularly for comedic effect, and I am
- 19:36Speaker 6: gonna just gonna take this time to reclaim every time
- 19:39Speaker 6: that I did it in the past and say that
- 19:42Speaker 6: was for comedic effect. I too, am an eccentric, scientist
- 19:48Speaker 6: based person who cannot be bothered to do anything because
- 19:52Speaker 6: they're currently in their pajamas. And all of my tones
- 19:55Speaker 6: that were incorrect, they were not incorrect, they were hilarious,
- 19:59Speaker 6: and everybody just didn't get the joke.
- 20:02Speaker 1: So oh my, yes, So that's what's.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Inspiring me to have this this blind confidence going forward.
- 20:12Speaker 6: I'm hilarious. People just don't get the joke you are.
- 20:16Speaker 1: You are hilarious, and look, from from what we've heard
- 20:19Speaker 1: from your team so far, I think having blind confidence
- 20:21Speaker 1: is going to save you really well this episode.
- 20:23Speaker 5: So yeah, get a slurm queen.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yes, all right, your Slim Queen's sister, if I can
- 20:31Speaker 1: say such a thing is showing encouragement from the other side. So, Chris,
- 20:36Speaker 1: what's inspiring you from Futurama?
- 20:39Speaker 5: What inspires me from the show is the insane like
- 20:45Speaker 5: cast of voice actors. The I think this was the
- 20:48Speaker 5: first show that I like started paying attention to voice
- 20:51Speaker 5: actors and like who's and what and whatnot specifically like
- 20:54Speaker 5: Joe DiMaggio voice of Bender, one of my favorite voice actors,
- 20:58Speaker 5: and this show just I I love paying attention to
- 21:03Speaker 5: that kind of stuff. Uh just who has been what?
- 21:07Speaker 5: Voice of like what crazy voice? And IMDb deep dives
- 21:11Speaker 5: on all these people and stuff. So I think Futurama
- 21:13Speaker 5: was kind of like that, the start of that niche
- 21:17Speaker 5: interest of mine. So I guess just Joe Demaggio is music?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Is it Joe? Or is that the baseball player? Is
- 21:26Speaker 1: it hn? Is it John Demasia or is it Joe?
- 21:29Speaker 1: I might just be in like uh an English post
- 21:32Speaker 1: in America here with the whole like.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Actulutly, uh, ship, You're absolutely right, it's John. Hey, I
- 21:40Speaker 5: didn't say that I was good at names, But.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Is Joe Demashio a famous American? Have I got that right,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and that's.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's Chris's muse a baseball player.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Yeah, it's actually baseball.
- 21:55Speaker 6: Uh.
- 21:56Speaker 5: I loved playing that when I was in sixth grade.
- 22:01Speaker 2: It's going to be a home run.
- 22:04Speaker 6: But in Futurama you got spaceball.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Let's go, it's actually blund ball. I think, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: it doesn't come up late, don't worry. No, But you're
- 22:20Speaker 1: absolutely right, Chris, to get back to your actual point
- 22:22Speaker 1: instead of me being like, is this a famous baseball player?
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's an excellent lineup of voice actors, whether that was
- 22:31Speaker 1: that were already established as such then or whether Futurama
- 22:34Speaker 1: was their sort of legacy defining role and have since
- 22:37Speaker 1: gone on to voice lots of other characters. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:41Speaker 1: it's a great lineup.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, legendary.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I remember when I finally realized that Leela was Peggy Bundy.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I was like, holy shure, that is Katie Siegel. Yeah right,
- 22:52Speaker 3: that's awesome.
- 22:53Speaker 5: It was crazy.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Was so iconic in my youth, and then like realizing like, oh,
- 22:58Speaker 3: actors can also do voice acting.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Interesting, great stuff, Chris, very inspiring stuff. Good to shout
- 23:05Speaker 1: out the people who made it. So these fancy people
- 23:08Speaker 1: shouted out concepts. Come on, all right, teams, I'm feeling
- 23:16Speaker 1: suitably inspired, So let's load up on dark matter and
- 23:20Speaker 1: launch our delivery spaceship into round one. Round one is
- 23:31Speaker 1: called IMDb trivia, which this episode stands for I Miss
- 23:35Speaker 1: Daddy Bender this. It's a reference to one episode. Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: this is just a classic multiple choice featur arma trivia.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I have to include a normal round like this every
- 23:47Speaker 1: few episodes to keep our tax exempt status as a
- 23:50Speaker 1: game show, so that's why this is here. So I
- 23:53Speaker 1: have here a board with six words I've accidentally rubbed
- 23:57Speaker 1: out part of censorship, which is pretty ironic. I've got
- 24:01Speaker 1: six six words here, Ordre, if you'd like to read
- 24:05Speaker 1: those words off.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Yeah, sorry, I was too busy looking at your art
- 24:08Speaker 6: is so good, frog respect, smelly teeth, censor shit. Yeah yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 6: I tried to like modulate my voice in their censorship word.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Oh very meta at the end.
- 24:25Speaker 7: There.
- 24:26Speaker 1: So each of these words corresponds to a question. It
- 24:30Speaker 1: might be a clue to the question, it might not
- 24:32Speaker 1: be might have a lot to do with Futurama, It
- 24:34Speaker 1: might have not much to do with Futurama. So but
- 24:37Speaker 1: apart from that, it's just classic multiple choice trivia. So
- 24:40Speaker 1: Icee Wieners. Would you like to pick a word.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Go for it, ben um, teeth.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Teeth, okay, teeth. Here is your question about teeth. What's
- 24:51Speaker 1: so special about Thompson's teeth? Is it A they give
- 24:56Speaker 1: you the bite force of an omicronian, B, they're no
- 25:00Speaker 1: longer reconstituted from infant teeth or C. They're the only
- 25:05Speaker 1: teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I like see a lot.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so do I, but I don't know if that's
- 25:12Speaker 3: because Matt's funny or Futurama's funny.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Though two things can be true. We've learned that in
- 25:18Speaker 1: the last five years.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, no longer made a baby teeth was
- 25:24Speaker 2: B and then A was strong enough to eat no amicronian.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yes, gimicronian.
- 25:32Speaker 2: We conspress that. I think C all right, But I mean,
- 25:37Speaker 2: do you feel strongly about no longer made of baby teeth?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Not strongly, no, Like that's what I was leaning towards.
- 25:42Speaker 3: But it is very very slight tilt. So if you're
- 25:46Speaker 3: if you're feeling strongly about see, let's do that.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I think I'm okay being wrong. Let's I'm gonna start
- 25:52Speaker 2: strong here, Okay, see I see if it destroys my confidence.
- 25:56Speaker 1: You going for c They're the only teeth strong enough
- 25:58Speaker 1: to eat other teeth. That is what's so special about
- 26:02Speaker 1: Thompson's teeth. One of the many hilarious products in Futurama.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Good stuff. There's a point, Audra Chris the Slim Queen's Yes,
- 26:13Speaker 1: would you like to pick a word?
- 26:15Speaker 5: Also? Who Drew Bender on that? That's that's fantastic?
- 26:22Speaker 6: Great?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Oh thanks.
- 26:24Speaker 5: It's annoying when your friends are so talented. First of all,
- 26:28Speaker 5: fuck you met, But I guess you should pick a word.
- 26:36Speaker 3: What do you think do you think best describes met?
- 26:44Speaker 5: Censor hip?
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you have a censor hip.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it's.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Okay, your word censorship. Here's the question related to censorship.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Why did Fox declare A Tale of Two Santas as
- 27:01Speaker 1: inappropriate for the seven pm time slot, delaying its release
- 27:05Speaker 1: from two thousand to two thousand and one. It A
- 27:09Speaker 1: like cursing and references to Kwansa a holiday. Fox refused
- 27:13Speaker 1: to be associated with B like cursing and the presence
- 27:18Speaker 1: of the character hermaphrobot or C like cursing and violence
- 27:23Speaker 1: committed on New York buildings by Santa and Bender from
- 27:27Speaker 1: an aerial device.
- 27:29Speaker 5: Ooh, it feels like C.
- 27:33Speaker 6: Yeah, but they he did say delayed it from two
- 27:36Speaker 6: thousand to two thousand and one.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Oh shit, bue catch. I don't listen to years.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Nice catch.
- 27:45Speaker 6: So so I think they I think it would have
- 27:47Speaker 6: been like from two thousand and one to two thousand
- 27:49Speaker 6: and two would be my thought. So the middle one.
- 27:54Speaker 5: I agree one hundred percent. I would have said, see
- 27:58Speaker 5: if you hadn't clarified the year. But I fully agree
- 28:03Speaker 5: b if it's two thousand.
- 28:05Speaker 6: Yeah, if it is C, it was some forethought on
- 28:09Speaker 6: their part, But we'll find out, all.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Right, you go with B light cursing and the presence
- 28:15Speaker 1: of the character hermaphrobot. Yes, I mean maybe Fox in
- 28:20Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, but no, actually it was C. They
- 28:24Speaker 1: had issue in two thousand with the destruction of New
- 28:27Speaker 1: York buildings December two thousand, But December two thousand and
- 28:29Speaker 1: one they were like, go ahead, put this on TV.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Nothing may just happened recently.
- 28:36Speaker 3: WHOA okay, wild just wanted to just wanted to delay
- 28:42Speaker 3: it to be a topical. Yeah you want to saying
- 28:46Speaker 3: they knew what did mag play? The algorithm man?
- 28:49Speaker 5: Just another another instance where Matt Groening knew the future.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I don't know, guys, whatever, whatever the fuck is last name?
- 29:00Speaker 6: I said it wrong the first time, so we'll see.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Is it graining?
- 29:03Speaker 3: I think it's graining.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 29:05Speaker 3: When I was a kid, I thought it was groaning.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, meet until today. Joe day years old.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Joe all right, lovely stuff. Okay, we got forwards left
- 29:21Speaker 1: on the board. Back on over to icy Wieners.
- 29:25Speaker 2: That's never not going to make me laugh.
- 29:27Speaker 6: It's funny every time.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Do you think smelly?
- 29:30Speaker 3: Yeah, gotta love smelly.
- 29:31Speaker 1: All right, let's do it smelly right, Smelly, it's an
- 29:34Speaker 1: attractive word. Let's find out what the question is. One
- 29:37Speaker 1: of Fansworth's most notable inventions is the smelloscope, and in
- 29:42Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, someone technically invented a smello scope. But what
- 29:47Speaker 1: was it used for? Is it a for a ride
- 29:50Speaker 1: at Disney themed on Pixar's Rattatuy that closed in twenty fifteen,
- 29:55Speaker 1: b for cops in Colorado to detect high marijuana levels
- 29:59Speaker 1: in residential areas, or c it was a sex thing.
- 30:04Speaker 1: It's always a sex thing. And if you're wondering what
- 30:06Speaker 1: kind of sex thing, you know, there are those gas masks. Well,
- 30:09Speaker 1: it's like those, but you don't have to wear it.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think, holy shit.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Uh wow, I don't think it's a It's always a
- 30:19Speaker 3: sex thing, is a compelling argument. Yeah, and there are
- 30:24Speaker 3: there There are weird smell fetishes, like the people that
- 30:27Speaker 3: buy farts in jars. There we go and used panties
- 30:30Speaker 3: and stuff. So I imagine if those guys could get
- 30:32Speaker 3: that while on the subway without it would probably sell
- 30:40Speaker 3: quite well.
- 30:41Speaker 2: What was the again? Because B was pot in Colorado, B.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Was part in Colorado. A was a ride at Disney
- 30:47Speaker 1: themed on Pixar's Rattatuoy that was closed.
- 30:50Speaker 2: In Yeah, I don't remember that either, but that was
- 30:54Speaker 2: in a stretch where I did not go to Disneyland.
- 30:56Speaker 3: And I'm assuming that a smellscope would need to be
- 31:00Speaker 3: applied to one's nose and used.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I probably don't want to do that.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Disney, they'd like spray sense you or something like
- 31:07Speaker 3: they do in their four D experiences.
- 31:09Speaker 2: All right, you want to go sexy time? Yeah? Oh yeah,
- 31:12Speaker 2: all right, it's always a sex thing.
- 31:13Speaker 3: When I think smelly, I think sexy.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Absolutely, And you've given some some ballad justifications for why
- 31:20Speaker 1: it might be.
- 31:21Speaker 3: But it's not.
- 31:22Speaker 1: It's not see I'm afraid, Oh it's be. It's cops
- 31:25Speaker 1: in Colorado to detect high moral other levels in residential areas.
- 31:30Speaker 1: It was used throughout twenty thirteen until it was the
- 31:33Speaker 1: Basically the police you who were using it were like,
- 31:35Speaker 1: this doesn't work. You've you've given us something that just
- 31:38Speaker 1: doesn't work. We can tell we smell pot everywhere anyway,
- 31:42Speaker 1: so it's Colorado.
- 31:43Speaker 6: I can just go like this.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yeah, if you didn't hear that, that was a good
- 31:47Speaker 1: sniff there.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Yeah. I tried to do it as loud as possible.
- 31:50Speaker 6: Have you ever tried to sniff loudly?
- 31:54Speaker 2: Like very weird?
- 31:55Speaker 6: Why did I try?
- 31:56Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I'm sure listeners would love love us all to EXPERI
- 32:00Speaker 1: meant for the next minute.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I was trying.
- 32:02Speaker 2: To chop my teeth loudly earlier when we when we
- 32:05Speaker 2: picked teeth. So I don't know if that'll come through.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry, no point there. Back on over to
- 32:12Speaker 1: slim queens. You've got frog, respect and word.
- 32:18Speaker 5: I feel like frog is gonna involve the hypno chodemm.
- 32:25Speaker 5: But that's all I got. I mean, we could we.
- 32:29Speaker 6: Could select it based on based on this, I don't
- 32:34Speaker 6: know what the rest would be.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I have no idea. Yeah, let's do it.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Let's do Frog, all right, Yeah, better to go with
- 32:40Speaker 1: the devil, you know, right? If you if you think
- 32:41Speaker 1: it might be to do with the Hypno Toad.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Sorry, it doesn't take me as long as it's not
- 32:46Speaker 5: like Robot Devil from the hit show Futurama.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Of course. Yes, okay, here's your question connected to Frog.
- 32:56Speaker 1: What is the source of the noise used for the
- 32:59Speaker 1: hip no Toad segments? So? What's the source of the
- 33:02Speaker 1: noise used for the Hypno Toad segments? Is it a
- 33:05Speaker 1: a turbine engine played backwards? B a brown noise file
- 33:10Speaker 1: included with their editing software titled poop dot Wave or
- 33:15Speaker 1: ce the sound of the Amazon Rainforest but pitched down
- 33:19Speaker 1: and slowed down.
- 33:21Speaker 6: Does anybody want to imitate the sound for me?
- 33:25Speaker 2: Woo, it's like.
- 33:30Speaker 7: A I those all seem like very creative solutions to
- 33:43Speaker 7: finding interesting sound effects.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I'd be curious to hear what all of those sound like.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm ok, you can edit the sounded now.
- 33:54Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you can do that real quick. Yeah that'd
- 33:56Speaker 5: be great.
- 33:57Speaker 2: All right, what a great sound effect.
- 34:06Speaker 5: I love those sound effects.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Yeah, bye budget here.
- 34:10Speaker 6: It's obviously b right now.
- 34:14Speaker 5: I I kind of I'm kind of leaning towards A.
- 34:18Speaker 5: That's that seems like the most I don't know.
- 34:22Speaker 6: A A feels reasonable.
- 34:24Speaker 5: It's like a constant because it's like a constant noise,
- 34:28Speaker 5: like a constant humming kind of a thing. And that
- 34:31Speaker 5: sounds more of like you can achieve that with an engine, yeah,
- 34:37Speaker 5: rather than the other two.
- 34:39Speaker 6: Rather than having to go into the Amazon rainforest in
- 34:43Speaker 6: order to achieve it. Sound I think I think I'm
- 34:47Speaker 6: down for A.
- 34:48Speaker 1: You're saying A a turbine engine played backwards. Yes, yeah,
- 34:52Speaker 1: I guess.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Pooping doesn't last forever, so that makes sense. Yet A
- 34:55Speaker 1: it is A yeah, absolutely, As a point to the
- 35:00Speaker 1: slim queens, yeah, it was also a turbine engine. Dot
- 35:05Speaker 1: was the name of the file. So I threw in
- 35:06Speaker 1: that extra bit on the poop one as like if
- 35:09Speaker 1: anyone knew that knew that particular piece of trivia. But
- 35:12Speaker 1: good stuff.
- 35:13Speaker 5: I'm so glad that I have a really bad short
- 35:15Speaker 5: term memory, because if I had remembered the poop web joke,
- 35:18Speaker 5: I would have got I would have fought for people.
- 35:21Speaker 5: But I fully forgot about it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Luck that sometimes our ever declining short term memory can
- 35:29Speaker 1: be an absolute boon.
- 35:31Speaker 6: It's a superpower. It's actually.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Ben, that was my fault for making it
- 35:38Speaker 2: sound so much like a backwards turbine engine.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Yeah, to be fair, there was a bit of im
- 35:45Speaker 5: It says, so appreciate you guys, thank you.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a good sound. Okay, back on over to
- 35:51Speaker 1: Icy Wiener's You've got respect and word.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Word.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I got no skin in the game here for one
- 36:00Speaker 3: or the other.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but if it's a hard question, I want to
- 36:03Speaker 2: be able to blame you.
- 36:04Speaker 1: All right, Yeah, word, all right, going for word, going
- 36:07Speaker 1: for word.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I know words.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Let's see if you know this word. Which of these
- 36:12Speaker 1: words is not in Bender's top ten most frequently uttered words.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for the explosion.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Is it a beer, B, daffodil or C chump?
- 36:28Speaker 2: It's beer. I feel really confident, and it's the one
- 36:32Speaker 2: that's nothing because has daffodil is one of them, and
- 36:35Speaker 2: then chump and chump at are in there. I feel
- 36:38Speaker 2: I feel reasonably confident.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he drinks a lot of beer, but I don't
- 36:41Speaker 3: know if he says beer a lot.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember this episode that he's got like a
- 36:44Speaker 2: doomsday device in him and he when he utters a
- 36:47Speaker 2: certain like when it is most spoken word or something.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, let's go for it. Beer, go with a beer.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Yeah, your fans, it's beer. Woo. He does say a lot.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And if we're talking about Bender's actual words that he
- 37:01Speaker 1: says the most, like not including connectives. Someone on Reddit
- 37:04Speaker 1: did this and it was fry was number one and
- 37:06Speaker 1: beer was number two. But in the episode that yes,
- 37:10Speaker 1: this is referring to daffodil is there, chump is there,
- 37:13Speaker 1: but beer is not there.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Good.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Nice, Sorry, I'll try to pull myself away from the
- 37:17Speaker 2: microphone when I celebrate. I don't blow anybody's ears out.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Now, get closer, slam queens. That leaves you with respect.
- 37:26Speaker 1: You've got leaves us with respect the.
- 37:29Speaker 5: First time in my life.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Tay, what we can get? Okay, here is your question
- 37:36Speaker 1: about respect. In twenty twenty two, Futurama was revived at Hulu,
- 37:42Speaker 1: but Joe DeMar Sorry, John Demaggio voices Bender didn't initially
- 37:48Speaker 1: side on to return. He cited lack of pay and respect,
- 37:52Speaker 1: and while he said he didn't get any more pay,
- 37:54Speaker 1: he did get a lot more respect, and so a
- 37:56Speaker 1: month later he rejoined. But what was Disney's plan for
- 38:01Speaker 1: if John didn't return. A to have the versatile Billy
- 38:05Speaker 1: West voice both Fry and Bender B. To have a
- 38:10Speaker 1: series of rotating guest voices for Bender due to a
- 38:12Speaker 1: faulty voice chip or C to kill Bender off in
- 38:16Speaker 1: the first episode, replacing him with a new robot voiced
- 38:19Speaker 1: by Tom Kenny aka SpongeBob Well.
- 38:22Speaker 5: I note Tom Kenny does other voices on Fu Durma,
- 38:26Speaker 5: so it's technically already on the cast.
- 38:29Speaker 6: Dotcha.
- 38:31Speaker 5: I could see B being an option for one episode,
- 38:36Speaker 5: but that's not like a long term thing. I don't
- 38:38Speaker 5: think I see that being a good one episode solution.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Yeah, and I I do think I have like a
- 38:46Speaker 6: little bit of like a be feeling more reasonable considering
- 38:51Speaker 6: the Simpsons like guest appearance, like celebrity guest thing, So
- 38:57Speaker 6: that faulty voice chip could be just any celebrity you
- 39:01Speaker 6: want to throw in. Is suddenly that I then you'd
- 39:04Speaker 6: need someone to be the in between connecting Yeah, situation.
- 39:09Speaker 5: So it just to what's it?
- 39:12Speaker 6: What was.
- 39:14Speaker 1: A to have the versatile Billy West voice both Fry
- 39:17Speaker 1: and Bender B is the series of rotating guest voices
- 39:21Speaker 1: due to a faulty voice chip and c to kill
- 39:23Speaker 1: Bender off in the first episode, replacing him with a
- 39:26Speaker 1: new robot voiced by Tom Kenny.
- 39:30Speaker 5: I kind of I'm feeling A or C. I don't
- 39:34Speaker 5: know what do you.
- 39:34Speaker 6: Think recontextualizing within the context of A and C. I
- 39:38Speaker 6: do think B is less likely. I do agree with
- 39:40Speaker 6: your thing of that would be great for one episode.
- 39:43Speaker 6: It'd be a good one episode. Bit. Yeah, I might
- 39:46Speaker 6: be leaning more towards A, just because would people accept
- 39:52Speaker 6: because Bender's been around for so long? Would people accept
- 39:56Speaker 6: him to just be Oh, he died and here's new character.
- 40:01Speaker 5: That's a good point.
- 40:03Speaker 6: Would they try to do that? How angry would fans
- 40:07Speaker 6: have gotten?
- 40:09Speaker 5: Probably?
- 40:09Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Very would be my guess.
- 40:13Speaker 3: And Disney definitely doesn't want to make fans angry.
- 40:20Speaker 5: I so, yeah, I agree. I think I'm leaning towards A.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Yeah, because doesn't he already do plenty of voices on there?
- 40:27Speaker 5: Yeah he does. Yeah, he does Fries, he does Zap
- 40:31Speaker 5: brain agans, he does a bunch of Yeah.
- 40:33Speaker 6: Those are the two that I remember the top of
- 40:36Speaker 6: my head.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Billy West voice both Fry and Benza. Yeah, it's big,
- 40:43Speaker 1: it was. It would have You're absolutely right. It would
- 40:47Speaker 1: have made for a great single episode storyline. But to
- 40:50Speaker 1: be the idea of this is I think it would
- 40:52Speaker 1: have been canceled again after one season.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Right. These these Hulu seasons are only like ten episodes.
- 41:00Speaker 2: There's short seasons, so I think, and they could get
- 41:02Speaker 2: away with it with a short season.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I just have like ten guest stars lined up
- 41:09Speaker 1: twenty two or whatever.
- 41:10Speaker 2: But I probably would have would have done one of them.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I'm sure, oh for sure. Yeah.
- 41:16Speaker 5: I still think that that would have only been funny
- 41:19Speaker 5: as one episode thing, though, I don't I think that
- 41:22Speaker 5: would have worn off its humors so quickly.
- 41:25Speaker 1: But John got his respect, Okay, like that that's what matters.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I like how he came forward and was like, look,
- 41:31Speaker 1: they didn't give me any more money because Hollywood's greedy
- 41:34Speaker 1: is helped, but they did. They did. I think it
- 41:36Speaker 1: was to do with like he didn't have such demanding
- 41:38Speaker 1: recording hours or something like that.
- 41:41Speaker 6: Okay, so John, Yeah, stand up for yourself sets a
- 41:45Speaker 6: country show.
- 41:46Speaker 5: That is my news. Yeah, shouts out to Joe everywhere.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Okay, that's the end of round one. Let's ask Professor
- 41:56Speaker 1: Farnsworth to calculate the latest scores to Shreds. You say, well,
- 42:01Speaker 1: that's a shame, but what about the players to Shreds?
- 42:04Speaker 1: You say, okay, well look, Icy Wieners you're in the
- 42:10Speaker 1: lead on two points, Slim Queens you're just behind with
- 42:13Speaker 1: one point. Incredible, plenty more points still to be.
- 42:19Speaker 6: A mm hmmm, uh huh, and.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Audra didn't know the professor's name. Up next is round two.
- 42:32Speaker 1: But first, I've been given a lot of products to
- 42:34Speaker 1: promote this episode, in particular like Bachelor Chaw Bachelor chow
- 42:39Speaker 1: now with flavor and bean bay beans. They're the beaniest
- 42:45Speaker 1: back after these real ads. But that probably sound just
- 42:48Speaker 1: as fake. Round two is a new game called Ordinary.
- 42:59Speaker 1: It's meant to sound like Pictionary but with audio, so
- 43:02Speaker 1: it's called audionary registered trademark. So in this game, in
- 43:09Speaker 1: turns Our, players will make sounds for their teammate to
- 43:12Speaker 1: guess which Futurama character I just message them over discord. Okay,
- 43:19Speaker 1: So the person making sounds can make three unique sounds,
- 43:22Speaker 1: one at a time. After each sound, their teammate must
- 43:26Speaker 1: make a guess as to which character it is. If
- 43:29Speaker 1: their teammate guesses. After the first sound, they get three points,
- 43:32Speaker 1: two sounds for two points, and three sounds for one point.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Some real quick rules about the sounds. Your sounds must
- 43:39Speaker 1: be prompt and last no more than a couple of seconds.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Your sounds can't be a word that appears in the dictionary,
- 43:45Speaker 1: but you can use gibberish. And hands on the desk
- 43:49Speaker 1: when you make your sounds. No visible actions. I guess
- 43:54Speaker 1: I can't. I can't control your faces, so I guess
- 43:56Speaker 1: do with that what you will. But hands on the
- 43:59Speaker 1: desks please. And look, we're going to play this with
- 44:02Speaker 1: two passes. The first pass I've gone for like quite
- 44:05Speaker 1: top listing characters, and then we've gone for very obscure
- 44:09Speaker 1: ones for the the second.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Half less characters.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Yes, all the topless characters. Yeah, okay, And look, so
- 44:19Speaker 1: we can all practice following the rules of keeping our
- 44:21Speaker 1: hands on the desk. There's one character that is just
- 44:24Speaker 1: obviously easier than all of the others. So we're all
- 44:27Speaker 1: going to practice by doing our best Zoidberg impressions. No
- 44:31Speaker 1: one's getting Chris Joy to give me a Zoidberg.
- 44:41Speaker 3: You can't say words.
- 44:42Speaker 2: That's words words, a perfect example of everything you can't do.
- 44:52Speaker 5: I'm trying to help.
- 44:54Speaker 6: We're going to get it out of our systems. That's
- 44:56Speaker 6: what's happening.
- 44:56Speaker 1: That's why we do the practice. All right, Chrazy, give
- 44:58Speaker 1: us a give us your best Zoidberg noise?
- 45:00Speaker 5: Where is the surdes?
- 45:02Speaker 1: No, you can't say any words, Chris, say any words
- 45:05Speaker 1: any like you.
- 45:07Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 45:08Speaker 1: It's guperation, nonsense for sure. I guess borderline slang. Sure,
- 45:17Speaker 1: that's how I got. That's how I don't know what
- 45:20Speaker 1: to tell you. Let's let's move on over to your teammate, Ordrew.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Do you want to have a practice making a Zoidberg noise?
- 45:27Speaker 6: Is it is he the one? Also does the.
- 45:39Speaker 1: That? Would that? Would that would be valid? Does the noise? Absolutely?
- 45:45Speaker 5: Ben?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Would you like to give me your Zoidberg? Lovely stuff?
- 45:51Speaker 1: Very good Zoidberg and John whoa, Yep, that would be
- 45:55Speaker 1: valid as well. Good stuff. So that but for all
- 45:58Speaker 1: the more difficult characters.
- 46:00Speaker 5: Now ship perfect.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Okay. So first it's gonna be Chris making some sounds
- 46:06Speaker 1: for Uldra to guess. So I'm going to message the character.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Now, Wow, this is so interesting.
- 46:12Speaker 2: I'm so excited to play this.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Chris, you're allowed three different sounds, but make
- 46:18Speaker 1: one sound first.
- 46:19Speaker 5: Fuck uh, that's that. That's that's annoying. I can't think
- 46:26Speaker 5: of gibberish. Okay, it's I'm I'm trying so hard to
- 46:31Speaker 5: not say words.
- 46:35Speaker 3: There we go that, there we go.
- 46:37Speaker 1: That's a sound. I'll take that. I'll take that, Ultra.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Who do you think that is? What character? Do you
- 46:42Speaker 1: think that is?
- 46:42Speaker 6: So? Since it's not so it burke because we said
- 46:46Speaker 6: that was gone. This the other one that I go
- 46:49Speaker 6: for that has like a tone would be, has you
- 46:53Speaker 6: colloquial colloquially referred to him the professor?
- 46:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the professor. Fodsworth's actually stretching the limits of removing
- 47:02Speaker 1: your hands from the desk by leaning so far forward
- 47:05Speaker 1: and doing it, old man shaped.
- 47:10Speaker 6: The boundary.
- 47:11Speaker 5: I'm sorry that I'm an actor. I popped with my body. Okay,
- 47:15Speaker 5: I'm just kidding. I'm not an actor, but.
- 47:18Speaker 2: No, you are, now.
- 47:21Speaker 1: You got yeah, you gotta be for this. No, that's
- 47:23Speaker 1: that's good stuff. I appreciate you conjuring some gibberation, making
- 47:27Speaker 1: a noise.
- 47:29Speaker 5: All right.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Next it's gonna be Ben for John. Ben making a
- 47:33Speaker 1: sound for John. Okay, oh boy, here we go. Just
- 47:37Speaker 1: sent Ben a character, and now he has to make
- 47:40Speaker 1: some kind of sound for John coming for John to guess. Hmmm,
- 47:49Speaker 1: was that the sound?
- 47:50Speaker 3: No, sorry, that was me thinking.
- 47:52Speaker 2: I'm doing what Adre did to I have my hands
- 47:55Speaker 2: up on the.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Desk with my hands but like your hand.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I remember looking at Andre's hands and being like, oh,
- 48:04Speaker 2: you don't have to have your hands on this, but
- 48:05Speaker 2: I'm doing the exact same.
- 48:06Speaker 6: Thing they immediately did it.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm excited. I'm I'm anticipating it.
- 48:12Speaker 5: If we can't do hands on table, can we do
- 48:14Speaker 5: Zoidberg clause while we do with the other impressions?
- 48:17Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, because that's yeah, you're allowed to do that
- 48:21Speaker 1: because that doesn't link to the character yet.
- 48:25Speaker 3: All Right, I'm gonna let's go for this. Oh well, okay,
- 48:30Speaker 3: well that's terrible.
- 48:33Speaker 2: It. I loved it, but let's say, okay, I'm gonna
- 48:37Speaker 2: go top tier, very gravelly. I'm gonna guess lure.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Going love it's not luck all right, Ben. You can
- 48:46Speaker 1: make into the sound.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Trying to think of something that is differentiates it from
- 48:51Speaker 3: the sound I just made. Trying to think of a
- 48:54Speaker 3: sound in your head, and then you try and make it.
- 48:55Speaker 3: You're like that's not the sound I was trying to
- 48:57Speaker 3: make it.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Oh oh yeah, that's I don't at all, But that's
- 49:00Speaker 1: kind of why I'm doing this game. You can try
- 49:05Speaker 1: and do the same sound again, but improve on it.
- 49:07Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be a totally different sound. You
- 49:09Speaker 1: can try and do at eversion of the same sound
- 49:11Speaker 1: if you'd like.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Okay, I need to think a different tact here.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Well, I'm going tonally and he's got a hard voice
- 49:21Speaker 2: to do. I'm gonna go bender.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Yes, it is a deep Bender for two points.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Got stuff. John Damaggio has got a got a weird
- 49:28Speaker 2: like it's not a gravel, but it's like a like
- 49:30Speaker 2: a slight rasp.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's slightly rough. It's also low and high at
- 49:34Speaker 3: the same time.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Johnavaggio's got an amazing voice.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Definitely, honestly, you made that. John would have been a
- 49:42Speaker 1: good one as well. I think that is kind of.
- 49:46Speaker 2: It's It sounds like early Bender before he became funny Bender.
- 49:50Speaker 1: M Yeah, okay, it's gonna be for Chris.
- 49:55Speaker 6: Oh it's me.
- 49:58Speaker 1: You got this The chance of three sounds here is
- 50:02Speaker 1: Oldre's first sound. But Christ gets that's a good sound.
- 50:09Speaker 1: How would you describe that sound, Chris, what did that
- 50:11Speaker 1: sound like?
- 50:13Speaker 5: Resigned? Is that? Leila? Yeah?
- 50:21Speaker 6: I was going I was going for competent but disappointed
- 50:24Speaker 6: in your ship.
- 50:26Speaker 2: That was exactly what it was.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I done it.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Wow, he was killing it.
- 50:35Speaker 1: That good stuff. Three points.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 50:38Speaker 1: All right, now now it's gonna be John for Ben.
- 50:41Speaker 6: I'm feeling pleased with our points that we have gotten
- 50:44Speaker 6: in this considering the number of characters I don't know
- 50:47Speaker 6: their names for for the future ones where they get harder,
- 50:53Speaker 6: so we're banking some points.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I got this okay, hopefully you got about this one.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Ready for John's first noise? Okay, it's a great noise.
- 51:14Speaker 1: My hands are on the table, absolutely no rules being broken.
- 51:19Speaker 6: You're not sliding a piece of paper with.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Hold your phone up real quick, joh, my hands.
- 51:25Speaker 6: Have not left the table.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Any ideas you're gonna be bummed once you.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Hear Yeah, I'm sure I am. You seem confident enough
- 51:33Speaker 3: that I should know this.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Uh.
- 51:35Speaker 3: It sounded eerily similar to Andre's Hermes.
- 51:41Speaker 1: It's not Hermes, all right, John, Yeah, I'll try.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Oh ship, I know what it is.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Now, well, we still need to hear another sound.
- 51:50Speaker 2: All right, here we go, second sound, it's kiff. It
- 51:55Speaker 2: is kif.
- 51:58Speaker 1: For two points there. That was a very good kiff. John, Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 1: thank you. It was very funny sound out of context as.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Well, Maurice LaMarsh amazing. I mean, like, like we said earlier,
- 52:14Speaker 2: the level of talent on here is bananas.
- 52:17Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 52:18Speaker 6: I think that's being really highlighted by our ability to
- 52:21Speaker 6: make sounds. How skillful these voice actors are.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, let's do this. Let's do this one more time,
- 52:30Speaker 1: another set of sounds for each of you. This time.
- 52:34Speaker 1: If you don't recognize the character that I message you,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you're allowed to look up the character to kind of
- 52:39Speaker 1: trigger any kind of memory. And if you still don't know,
- 52:41Speaker 1: it just makes sounds nice.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Guess what you think they'd sound exactly?
- 52:48Speaker 6: What do you think this guy would sound like? What
- 52:50Speaker 6: do you think?
- 52:50Speaker 1: Okay, so first up, it's going to be Chris for Audra's.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Face.
- 52:58Speaker 5: I'm just gonna look something up, really.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, just gonna because that could be like you could
- 53:05Speaker 1: do what you think the character sounds like once you
- 53:07Speaker 1: look at it, once you see it.
- 53:09Speaker 5: M Oh, yeah, no, I I know, okay, No, I
- 53:14Speaker 5: mean I know.
- 53:14Speaker 1: There's a character that sound like Yeah, all right, all right, Chris,
- 53:20Speaker 1: let's see your first noise?
- 53:22Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, well, I don't know his name?
- 53:31Speaker 6: Is he the green guy? Second in command?
- 53:35Speaker 1: Two? That's Kiff we've had.
- 53:41Speaker 6: I'm so sorry it's not Kiff.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Chris.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Would you like to make another noise?
- 53:48Speaker 5: I didn't. This is going to sound completely different from
- 53:51Speaker 5: the first one because I think I was way off
- 53:52Speaker 5: with the first one. But I'm still not one hundred
- 53:54Speaker 5: percent shirts, so don't be thrown off by being completely different.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Feel free to make the lobster close as well. I
- 54:01Speaker 1: don't know if.
- 54:07Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, I'm gonna say Bender's dad.
- 54:13Speaker 1: It's not Bender's dad, but I like it as a guess.
- 54:18Speaker 1: You got a chancefer for one point here, you can
- 54:20Speaker 1: make one more sound, Chris, am.
- 54:22Speaker 5: I getting close to what he sounds like?
- 54:23Speaker 1: Man, Chris, I think it's great. I think this is great.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I've got an idea.
- 54:31Speaker 6: Yeah, looking looking, it seems like, yeah, so this is
- 54:37Speaker 6: not on you?
- 54:42Speaker 5: Sorry, there shoulders in that again.
- 54:45Speaker 1: That's that's all right, that's that could be the boldline thing. Yeah,
- 54:48Speaker 1: it's fine.
- 54:50Speaker 5: Just a little shimmy. You know, Just.
- 54:53Speaker 6: What else do I know is in this show? Nixon's
- 54:57Speaker 6: head in a jar.
- 55:00Speaker 5: I like it that.
- 55:03Speaker 1: It's a great guess, but it's not Chris. Would you
- 55:06Speaker 1: like to reveal who the character was?
- 55:08Speaker 5: It's the janitor?
- 55:10Speaker 3: Yeah, down, Scruffy.
- 55:15Speaker 2: That's the one I was thinking of earlier when we
- 55:17Speaker 2: were starting this game. I was like, oh, I could
- 55:19Speaker 2: do a scruffy if if if I'm called upon.
- 55:24Speaker 5: Nation, I would not have been able to name him.
- 55:30Speaker 5: I know what he looks like.
- 55:33Speaker 1: And you know what he sounds like as well. It
- 55:34Speaker 1: was a very just considering.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, we got we knew what you were good that.
- 55:40Speaker 5: I do you feel like I was kind of stereotyping
- 55:43Speaker 5: just an old janitor guy? What I wait?
- 55:46Speaker 3: I think that's what they were doing.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Next up we are back on over
- 55:54Speaker 1: to Icy Wienas and we have Ben for John. Here's
- 55:58Speaker 1: here's your character.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Ben.
- 56:00Speaker 1: You will be making the sounds of this character.
- 56:02Speaker 2: All right? You ready? Yes?
- 56:04Speaker 3: Okay, okay?
- 56:10Speaker 2: Do I have this?
- 56:12Speaker 3: I hope so?
- 56:13Speaker 2: I mean no, it seems like like I don't know
- 56:17Speaker 2: if Mattol would send sence. Okay, no? Oh oh is
- 56:22Speaker 2: it Morbo?
- 56:24Speaker 1: Yes, it's more good stuff.
- 56:26Speaker 2: It reminded me of it reminded me of Lura again.
- 56:29Speaker 3: But I was trying to go more angry than Lure
- 56:32Speaker 3: would be because they're very similar.
- 56:34Speaker 1: No, three points good stuff. I yeah, that was the
- 56:37Speaker 1: whole one of that one. I was deciding should I
- 56:39Speaker 1: put more, should I put lure? The point is that
- 56:41Speaker 1: they might get confused.
- 56:42Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff lures a bit more grandiose. Yeah, yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 3: Morbo is more angry.
- 56:48Speaker 1: He certainly is.
- 56:50Speaker 2: But otherwise the exact same voice.
- 56:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, very close.
- 56:53Speaker 1: I wonder if it is the same voice actor. Actually, oh,
- 56:56Speaker 1: it's definitely the same actor. Yeah, Okay, next up, it's
- 56:59Speaker 1: going to be Audra of a Chris. Okay, that is
- 57:02Speaker 1: the character that you gotta do.
- 57:05Speaker 2: It's a really cool game for for something like an
- 57:07Speaker 2: animated series where where voices are so important.
- 57:11Speaker 5: This is the most tense I've ever been in the gatement.
- 57:16Speaker 2: My hands are claiming.
- 57:18Speaker 6: I was like rolling my hands around there on the
- 57:21Speaker 6: table like to be like, okay, okay, relax your hands, relax.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Your No, there's physical surface there where we're on Earth, where.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Every join.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I'm glad it's tense and stuff like.
- 57:34Speaker 6: I'm not great at it, but I'm having a wonderful time. Okay,
- 57:39Speaker 6: I do know who this guy is. This character. Okay,
- 57:42Speaker 6: I can't do the sounds. Let's find out, remember, and
- 57:45Speaker 6: I want to.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Have that's a good noise?
- 57:49Speaker 5: Is it nibbler?
- 57:51Speaker 1: It is not not nipple. Yeah, I think it's a
- 57:56Speaker 1: room full of nipple.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Yes, but that's a nibbler impression.
- 58:01Speaker 6: It came out like you said, Ben, It was different
- 58:04Speaker 6: in my head and then it came out my mouth.
- 58:07Speaker 6: I also, I am just getting over a sinus infection,
- 58:11Speaker 6: like a pretty intense one, and so there's like, uh,
- 58:15Speaker 6: there's other things taking up residents in my.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Alien force right here.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yes, all right, but you still make another noise for
- 58:24Speaker 1: two points.
- 58:26Speaker 6: I'm adjusting. I'm a calibrate.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Say, sounded like a word.
- 58:37Speaker 2: I don't know about the letter yeah, letter.
- 58:42Speaker 5: Because of Richard Jackson.
- 58:46Speaker 1: As it was an incorrect guess, I'm going to allow it.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna allow it. It was very close to a
- 58:50Speaker 1: word that we'll say you were saying the letter you
- 58:53Speaker 1: aought to make one more noise. For one point, it.
- 58:58Speaker 6: Was just a just a shout the character a little bit.
- 59:03Speaker 1: Poop well rounded. Yeah, yeah, Now imagine all of those
- 59:09Speaker 1: sounds together, Chris, and I mean, I'd still be impressed
- 59:12Speaker 1: if you got it.
- 59:13Speaker 5: Yeah, uh, benders cousin.
- 59:24Speaker 1: It's not Bender's cousin. I probably would have given you
- 59:27Speaker 1: this if you'd have said, like one of three different names,
- 59:29Speaker 1: because there's a really tough one. Did you have?
- 59:31Speaker 6: I had the Francis Clamp, clamp Pazzo, which in which
- 59:38Speaker 6: case I probably it probably would have actually been better
- 59:40Speaker 6: if I would.
- 59:41Speaker 5: Have gone this.
- 59:44Speaker 2: Yeah, also sounds like roberta the.
- 59:49Speaker 6: Phrase I quote him for having not seen much Futurama.
- 59:52Speaker 6: I do quote this a lot. Get him with the clamps,
- 59:54Speaker 6: I'll claim, come.
- 59:57Speaker 1: But yeah, you couldn't say that. Unfortunately, Yeah, I.
- 59:58Speaker 6: Couldn't say that. So I was trying to go the
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: tone of that in the first one, but it did
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: go out. It came out of my vocal body a
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: little bit more.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: If you'd have said any member of the Robot Mafia,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I think I probably would have given you it, because
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I was quite a natural. But yeah, the clamping robot
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: from the Robot Mafia.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: Yes, the Clamps.
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: That I didn't know who that character was. I was
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: never going to be able to assist with that.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: I do now you do.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Now, now I'm definitely gonna watch.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: And finally we have John for Ben I've just messaged
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: you in your character.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: I am ready.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Okay. The sound, Okay, that's a good sound. That's a
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: strong sound.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: We're gone like lower tier characters here at this blind
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: like this isn't going to be main cast.
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: Mm.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna gonna have to push you for a guest.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Ben, the the robot preacher guy.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: No, that's a good guess, but it's not the robot
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Preacher guy. John. Second sound, all right, second sound? Hm hmmm, Yeah,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: I think that that's a good sound.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: Matt.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: You you cheeky bastard.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I mean, I would almost think Francis for that, like
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: it's obviously not that one.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Nope, I think yeah, I think you want to make
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the final sound John.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Yeah, m m.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Uh fry. That's getting Yeah, I'm trying to screw trick us.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Here's a tricky guy. I have no idea it John.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: It's Roberto, And I just said my character was a
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: little too Roberto for Francis. Same noise.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I've had this written for days like this I had
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: as soon as you said, I had to keep such
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: a straight face that oh yeah, sorry, oh good stuff.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: All right, that's the end of the round. And players.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: You were far from ordinary registered trademark. Okay, let's ask
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Bender to calculate the latest scores in exchange for beer
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: and pawn. Okay, those scores are the slim Queens are
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: on seven points, but I see Wieners are in the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: lead with nine points.
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: All right, not too far.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: We're technically farther further behind, but it's all good.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Don't worry. We can still funck this up.
- 1:02:59Speaker 6: If we've learned any anyway.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Rown three next, if you don't want to listen to
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: the commercials, just hop in your cryo chamber and set
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: it for ninety seconds. That seconds, remember, not years. Round
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: three you set it to years, didn't you. Round three
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: is called date Leapers. It's our time based game that
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: took me years and years to come up with. I
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: will ask our players a question where the answer is
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: always a year in history or from our perspective, the future,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: so it's always a year. Each player will individually write
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: down an answer, but I only need one answer per team,
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: so I'll take the average year said by each team.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: The midpoint of teammates answers, and the closest team gets
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: a point, with bonus points thrown out for being close
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: or even more bonus points for being spot on. I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: don't think it's going to happen.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Are are these years in our reality? Or is this
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: futurama years? Yes, that happened in the show.
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: Oh good, incredible.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll be.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: They'll be dotted all around the past and future and present. No,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty four isn't on here, not the present? And Audra,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: if I could get your help in between these to
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: calculate averages as well, because you are proper smart instead
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: of whatever this is, okay, I have.
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: A calculator on my phone.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: So the first question for all players here it is
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: what year did Kiff give birth to his and Amy's children?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: That's what year did Kiff give birth to his and
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Amy's children? Everyone got an answer for this one? Yeah, almost, okay.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Let's start with Chris and Audra over on slim Queen's Chris,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: what have you got?
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: Thirty twelve? You can't see it on my phone?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Thirty twelve And Odra I went for three thousand and four,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: three thousand and four, which you know these would be
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: presidential years, so it's nice and easy to work out
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: it's three thousand and eight. Is your average Hey, that
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: seems pretty reasonable. Ben, what have you got three thousand
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: and six? Three thousand and six? And John I also
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: said three thousand and four, three thousand and four, making
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: three thousand and five that same ballpark. I think you
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: know your your birth and history of Kiff this, you'll
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: seem pretty on it. The correct answer is three thousand
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: and three, which puts icy Wieners is closer. Yeah, so
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: you get you get a point. Shit, but I'm I'm
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: going to give both teams a point as well for
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: being like in the right region and ballpark. Just Icy
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: wien is an extra point for actually being closer. Thanks.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Ben's my smiz mar.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: Thank you for the point, sir.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: It's charity. Okay, yes, thanks guy, Yeah, you don't have
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: your pride anymore. What was it, respect, I've fucked up
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: that call back? What year was Futurama canceled the first time?
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: So when was Futurama canceled the first time? Around end
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: of its first run? Not dealing with the three thousands
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: here just as a clue.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: So we we want we want to try to create
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: an average here, right, So like if I so, if
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I think Ben's going to guess something, I should guess
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: something based on yeah, to try to average it out
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: to where Okay, I.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Mean, ideally you should just guess the correct thing, and
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: then I also guess the correct thing.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think you can cast the correct
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: I'd love to be proven wrong.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: All right, Well, I'm going to have to ask you
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: first then, because I want to see if you woldly different. John,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: What have you got for this one?
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Oh no, I'm going I'm I'm guessing two thousand and five,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: and I'm purposely shooting a little high.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Okay, two thousand and five, Ben, what have you got?
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: I went with two thousand and four because I think
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: there was five seasons.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Shit, two thousand and four. We always round up on
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: this game, So two thousand and five is going to
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: be your answer. Chris and I both look like, ah shit,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: all right, Odre, what have you got?
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: I thought the original run had way more seasons, so
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: I went twenty ten, twenty ten.
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: And I went two thousand and nine because yes, yes,
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: I was like, there's like ten seasons, right, you.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Didn't get a similar thing. I think twenty ten might
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: have been when it was brought back for the second time,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: or brought back for the first time.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: I suppose first time.
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: Yeah, right, Oh it came back two times.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean almost three if you count like
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the movies and the series that followed the movies as
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: separate commissions.
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: Oh shit, I didn't really see Jesus.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: But look now you do, because the correct answer is
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: actually two thousand and three. They crammed a lot of
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: seasons into those early early years. But as two thousand
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: and five is closer, Yeah, that's going to that's going
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: to be a point to Icy Wieners.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: John, John, John knew that too.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Oh John, you too, But you were overcresting, just lack
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: of confidence in me.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Let's say earlier, saying earlier junior year in high school,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: and that was that was earlier than it premiered. So
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: I thought you were skewing earlier.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: No, I'm pretty sure it was nineteen ninety nine. March
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: of nineteen ninety nine was the end of our junior
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: year in high school, wasn't it. Oh that's how years worked.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: It is how years works.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: But look, you got the point for being closer, and
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: no bonus points there. I mean, actually know I should
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: give another one for Icy Wieners because you were within
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: the range where that I've got for that.
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: I mean, if you've given them two points you could
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: give that's a pity point.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I don't think so. I don't think so. I'm sorry.
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: Charity is run out? Fine, man, whatever, Okay, the.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Coffers are run dry. Okay, next one's let's get back
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: to the law. What year was Mars University founded? In
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: the world of Futurama? What year was Mars University founded?
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: Wow?
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: And the charity may reopen for this one if we're
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: centuries out.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: Appreciate Oh god.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Okay, got some answers written down here.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: I picked a number and I wrote it down, all right,
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: and that's the game.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Yeah, slim queens, Chris, what have you got?
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: I picked the year of two thousand, six and fifty.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Seven, two thousand, six hundred and fifty seven DRA.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: Two seven hundred and fifty.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Seven hundred fift pretty much the same ballpark like Grand
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Scheme of Years.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: Like in the Grand Scheme of Years.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Do you know what the average is there, oldra Because
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: I'd say it's like around in this ballpark.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Around about two thousands. Yeah, two thousand, seven hundred and
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: three is your average? That sounds pretty good.
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: I'm confident with that until we here, until we hear
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: anybody else's answers. That sounds great.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Yeah at this stage in time, Yeah, sure, I think
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: we fuckailed it, dude, Yeah, all right, I see weed
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: as Ben, what have you got for this?
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Two thousand, six hundred and thirty four.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Two thousand, six hundred and thirty.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Four So same the same ballpark?
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: Damn?
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Yeah right, and and John I went.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: I went quite a bit later. I thought it was
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: a new university two thousand, nine hundred and sixty.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Seven, two thousand, nine hundred and sixty seven.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: Well it was Amy's like parents alma mater, But I
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: mean hundreds of years like, yeah, that's still kind of work.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that gives you two thy eight hundred even so yeahe.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: How we like it? Yeah? Clean numbers.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: We got two seven oh three versus twenty eight hundred.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: These sound reason like reasonable numbers few hundred years before
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: the show started. Makes sense. The actual answer, and this
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: is kind of good good stuff from Ben if he'd
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: have just had his answer at play here, because the
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: actual answer is two six hundred and thirty six.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I totally knew that.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Ben, a random guest two years off.
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: He was accommodating for what Sean's answer was going to be.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm afraid because we're playing by averages. It
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: was the slim queens who were closer, so they get
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: the points. Who yes, yes, yes, we did it.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: All right, dude, I let us down.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: I'm used to it.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I'm so yeah, I'm sorry, Ben, but also good knowledge.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I tried to ignore the claw dancing from the other team.
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: It's better than our slur queen dance.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, get down, Okay.
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: I like to include some arms in it, so hard.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right. Next next question, According to Futurama,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: what ye will Earth's petroleum reserves run dry? So if
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: we're talking about Futurama predicting things, what ye will Earth's
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: petroleum reserves run dry?
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: I literally just like listen to this because I I
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: was fun.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Was this on your timeline?
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: Yeah? It was, it was, but I don't ah shit.
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: It worked for me. Last time I picked a number,
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: I put it down. I didn't think about it again.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: We'll find out if we can repeat history.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: Okay. The thing that I remember from them talking about
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: it is the alternative oil options, mainly from whales, whales
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: oil that came from But I don't remember the year.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: All right, let's see what kind of years we've got.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Let's start with icy wieners this time Ben twenty four
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: to seventy two, twenty four to seventy two. Optimistic John,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I put twenty one sixty three, twenty one sixty three. Okay,
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Audra's going to help me work out the average to
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: that one.
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: I could have been doing it as they've said it, but.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Nah, that's okay, this part gets edited, doubt.
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: Keep it in.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Ah No, I have to.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Again.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: That gives you twenty three seventeen perfect twenty exactly what
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: I was thinking. Pretty solid average there. Let's find out
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: what slim queens have, Audra. I think you can tell about.
- 1:13:43Speaker 6: How hopeful I am about the future that I said
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: twenty thirty, twenty thirty, ten thousand years behind us, about
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: six left. Let's go.
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: We did it. We did it, Chris, Actually you said
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: twenty thirty. I said twenty one thirty.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: All right, okay, so twenty one thirty and that's going
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: to give you twenty eighty as an average in the
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: middle there. Yeah, the point is going to go to
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: slim queens. For being closer. Twenty eighty is closer than
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: twenty three seventeen. According to Futurama, our petroleum reserves will
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: run out in twenty thirty eight. Sure, wow, which I
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: suppose the episode was nineteenninety nine, two thousand, round about?
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Then you go, yeah, okay, I think the actual number
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: is in the twenty seventies at our current usage rate.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: But again, we'll be almost dead, so it'll be fine.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: It's all good.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, almost nothing. I'm out of here.
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: You'll ye kick the can down the road solution.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Every time. Another points of the slim queens there, all right,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: topical one for you? Now, what year did Hermes Conrad
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: compete in the limbo event in the Olympics? What year
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: did Hermes Conrad compete in the limbo event at the Olympics?
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: To think about your Olympic years in the in the
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: way in the future.
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: Yeah, that's probably wait, no, that's nowhere near.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Fine, what so eighty six?
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, let's let's start with icy wienis. What have
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: you got here, John.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: I've got twenty nine eighty eight, twenty nine eighty eight.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: I think a good twelve years before the show.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: Yes, I also have twenty nine eighty eight.
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: Oh, average is gonna be so easy.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: There we go. We're taking Ben's advice and just picking
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: the right year.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, do that.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Just pick the right year, you'll win. It's great. Twenty
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: nine eighty eight is your number. Yeah, that's an Olympic year.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: That makes sense? Or Droe, what have you got?
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: Twenty nine eighty four.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Twenty nine eighty four, going a little bit earlier, yeah,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: and Chris, what have you got?
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: I'm going a little bit later, twenty nine ninety six.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Twenty nine ninety six. Don't don't necessarily think that was Olympic. Yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: but limbo could have been a Winter Olympics sport.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: Wait is it not?
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Wait maybe it would be no, yeah, it would be.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: Yeah, four years before the millennium.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Right, that's that's on me. Like shout and shouts out
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: to John Demaggio, the baseball player as well.
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: Shouts out, yeah, also in that Olympics.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Just as said though, just yeah, just the head.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: The limbo competition was way easier for him. But we're
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: not going to talk about it.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: That gives twenty nine ninety as as your your on average,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: twenty nine eighteen ninety very close.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: On the bright side, that is a Winter Olympics here.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the frozen limbo is just the same.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: The actual answer is twenty eighty, so it was even
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: further back in homies past. But icy Wieners were closer
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: by two years. So that's a point for icy Wieners.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: He's older than I thought.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, look at him. Go Maybe it's like gymnastics where
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: you compete when you're fourteen. Yeah, more flexible though I
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: didn't even think about it.
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: That makes a lot of.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, yeah, I mean put limbo in the Olympics, right, like, y,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: let's make it happen.
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I got one question left for you guys, kind of
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: a more of a test for some Americans here.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Hey, that's me, I'm an American.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: What year did Richard Nixon finally win a presidential campaign?
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: What year did Richard Nixon finally win a presidential campaign?
- 1:17:48Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: No, it's sucking whatever, em shit US history blows.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I've got to know this for my citizens citizenship test
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: in a few years time. If I can't correctly say this,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: they'll kick me out.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: Our most important president, Richard Nixon.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: You have to know the turns the chair around and
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: it is Richard Nixon testing mark.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: In between two.
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Do you either get that question? Or you have to
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: name four Reagan movies.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: There's the one where he kisses the monkey, one where
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: he's a cowboy. Yeah, that's all of them. That's only two.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: That's his full canon. All right, well we'll start with
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: slim queens. What years do you have here, Chris? What
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: have you got?
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: I don't even know if this is a president's election year,
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: but I just put nineteen fifty.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Eight, nineteen fifty eight.
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: I don't know. I think this might be an election year.
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: Nineteen sixty eight.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: An order's got nineteen sixty eight?
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: Was he the moon? One? Was he?
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: The one? Was my first? Yes, I wrote that down first,
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: and then I thought it was too late, so I
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: backed it up. Decade.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: That's gonna be sixty three as your as your average there.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: Definitely presidentally the election years are also summer Olympic years,
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: the way that works.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sense something something conspiracy?
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, it all started with the Greeks.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: Yep, the founders of democracy. They got us in this mess. No,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: that was triple sarcasm. Okay, so Icee waiders back on
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: over to you. Let's let's fight out. I mean Nixon,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: John when was he first first elected?
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: I'm also going nineteen sixty eight.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: John has nineteen sixty eight.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: Ben Oh, I was between that and nineteen seventy two,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: and I went with nineteen seventy two.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Women nineteen seventy two. That puts nineteen seventy a winter
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Olympic year as we now know. Yeah, yeah, seventy versus
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: sixty three the actual year. I was really hoping someone
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: would say, like, would only think about futur Arma Nixon
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: and sort of list of your way in the future
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: to throw off someone's averages. We thought about it. You've
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: all gone with twentieth century, so no one fell for it.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: I genuinely thought about it. The actual ANSWA is nineteen
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: sixty eight. Yes, solid one player right on each team.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: But technically, yeah, icy Ween is your closer. Yes, that's
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: the point.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Damn.
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: I literally had sixty eight, and I changed my answer
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: because I thought it was too.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it was between sixty eight and seventy two.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, because I couldn't remember if lu because LBJ never
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: actually won an election, right, like he'd lost to Nixon. Yeah,
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: he just got he just got put in, right, Yeah,
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: he was there after Kennedy got assassinated.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Yeah, shut up.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: And then I think he did that seventy. I think
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: he did win one, right, No, did he win in
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: sixty four because I think he would have because Kennedy
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: was sixty three.
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he was assassinating sixty three, so maybe yeah, he
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: won that one, but only one? Did one turn?
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah?
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: Goshcha?
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Yeah like that sound greedy? But are we? Are we
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: in bonus point range or what?
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: For two years?
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: You know that is a that is a very good point. Yeah,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: and they would be just the slim Queens would be
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: just outside of bonus point range. So yeah, I see Wieners. Yeah,
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: that's actually another point there any comment from that Slim Queens.
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: Your guess was bad and you should feel bad. That
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: is the end of round three.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Let's ask Lure from the planet Omicron Percy I eight
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: to calculate the latest scores. Oh, he says, why doesn't
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: the tallest player, Chris simply not eat the other players?
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: I tempted this entire time, Chris.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm worried John might be taller. Now that you've
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: said that.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Oh, sh six three, Sorry to disappoint you.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Oh you gotta Okay, let me get this, and why
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: does it John the tallest of the players. Okay, I'll
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: leave all that in those are I see ENAs are
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: running away with it. It's sixteen points to slim Queen's ten.
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: Can you really quantify a good time?
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: I feel?
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: What is the price you put on the joy? In
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: christ and ize eyes?
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: That's that's true, That's true.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: At least six points worth?
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't go that far.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: I mean, if you could, though, you're the you make
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: the rules.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: I am the game.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Pil Thank you for reminding me. There's a bonus point
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: for it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: We'll keep We'll keep them that they are. It's a
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: very interesting heading into our quick fire around. But before
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: we get to the quick fire around, let's talk prizes.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: This episode's star prize is the concept of found family,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: which is often the case with the comedy sci fi genre.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Could probably really psychoanalyze that if I wanted to. But
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: the important thing is to make sure you have a
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: crab in your found family. Crabs are always important. But
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: our winning team will also receive one barrel of molten boron.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Up next is our crucial quick fire around, but first
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: we must play one final set of ads. If it's
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: for fast food, remember that food was once a living,
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: intelligent creature, unless it's for Urbi's their meat was never
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: living or intelligent or from a real creature. Our final
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: quick fire round will test your broader pop culture knowledge,
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: and it's called guest Star a Rama. Just like with
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: our Simpsons episode, all of the answers in this round
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: will be celebrities who have guest starred as themselves in
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: an episode of Futurama, so those clues will be in
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: the style of Professor Farnsworth giving you delivery instructions to
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: that celebrity god. And of course there's a classic gate
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Leapers twist. You need to squint your eyes like Fry
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: does in that one meme and say not sure if
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: followed by your answer, that's gonna.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: Be accurate because I'll probably won't actually be sure.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: And our eyes are pretty naturally squinty, so.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: I almost never don't squint.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Fair enough, so this will be pretty standard.
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: That's just how I answer questions.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Not sure, all right, this will be really natural for everyone.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Then it's quick fire, so buzz in by yelling out
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: your team names. Let's practice that now, queen Queen, Queen
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Queena's versus Queen's. It's always the problem of every summer.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Should we all just say queener?
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Okay? So, for example, if I said, good news everyone,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: you must make a delivery to another iconic spaceship, our
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: favorite Vulcan once in you fav. I think John is
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: who I heard first.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: Not sure if it's Spark.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd probably take that for this one. Leonard Nimoy.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I'm more looking for the people. Oh yeah, the voice,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, the person who plays themselves in it.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: You shouldn't take that one.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Okay, I won't take that one, but it's the practice
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: on No points are on the line anyway, but.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: Take that one. If I say it or says.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he doesn't speak for us.
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: I'm still doing the crabhands to keep myself engaged, just
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: to be like, no, you're in it, you've got this.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: We've got this.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: Thank you, Chris. My hands are on the table.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, hands can be clawed or on the table totally.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: You're preference at this point. All right, you can interrupt
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: me at any point. Are we ready? Yes, yes, here
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: we go. Good news everyone, You're going to make a

- 1:26:38Speaker 1: to be ready. Yes, John, not sure if it's Pamela Anderson.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: It is, indeed Pamela Anderson.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Incredible.
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: This is just great to watch.
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just learning.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Your guys's team name is Queen.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: By the way, he says from his nine point lead.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: He is doing his heel turn.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: Good news everyone. You're going to deliver a career via
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: courier to a guy who is famous for doing a
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: dude speak impersonation and then landing a few roles in
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: the nineties for being able to talk like that. His
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Wikipedia had nothing else he worked on MTV. Oh Queens, Yes,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: Ordre not sure if poly Shore, Yeah, it's poly Shore.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: The one thing I know, he's in a couple of
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: movies that are like very low rated. And then it
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: didn't say anything else that.
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: I watched Son in law about forty five times.
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Man's great biodomes good knocking on poly Shore.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: Actually feel bad when he gets punched in the face
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: and starts crying on Sun and Lock.
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Good news everyone. You're going to deliver this box of
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: twenty sided die to a man who presumably spent Yes, Ben.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Uh, not sure. If Gary Gygax.

- 1:28:29Speaker 1: a woman type cast as a martial artist, but you
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: also played a gender swapped doctor John Watson for a decade,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: so yes.
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: Ordre not sure. If Lucy Low.

- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Good That wasn't sure.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: I just love how early two thousands these names are?
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: These like the people who were at the peak fame.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: In back when Ben and I were almost adults.

- 1:30:44Speaker 1: my favorite science guy. That's it, yeah, Ordre, I.
- 1:30:50Speaker 6: Think not sure if Bill Nye.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: It is Bill Nye. I don't know what else he's
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: famous for, but he's a science guy.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: I think that's it.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Nothing else, and quick before the buzzer. Good news everyone,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: You're going to deliver these pencils to my favorite animator.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: And I have to say that because, oh did you
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: puss in John? Oh yeah, yes, sure if it's Matt
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: groening or groaning, but yes, it is great. Oh my goodness.
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: I try not to normally look at the scores because
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: they're right, they are right next to me. I looked
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: at him this time.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Before we get to those final scores, which we all
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: might know which way this is gone, I'd like to
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: thank our players. You've all warmed my heart, like when
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: a dog waits a lifetime for their owner to return.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: The fuck.
- 1:31:54Speaker 6: I read Hatchie way too early on in my life.
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: I cried for weeks. Yeah, it was so sad.
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: I only know cartoons, all.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Right, I mean, And speaking of cartoons, let's let's talk
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: comics Ben John, let's talk Space Oddities and the Space
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Oddities Issue three Kickstarter, which I believe is launching two
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: days after this episode goes live.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Uh, yes, you know when this episode goes on, told
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: you when launches, so I'll take a word for that.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: If this goes live on the eighth, then that is
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: absolutely true.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: Yes, oh yeah, yeah it is. It's got the the
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: pre launch pages up, so if you go right now,
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: you can, you know, hit the little button and it'll
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: tell you when it does launch. And uh, it's basically
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: a space comedy, sci fi adventure story with lots of
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: gags and uh, you know, a little bit of seriousness heart. Yeah,
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: just like Futurama. Yeah, yeah, you know, fewer gags, maybe
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: more heart because there's not a huge amount of futrama.
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: But yeah, it's not as as that, that's for sure.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, even though we don't we don't copy Futurama.
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: I would be interested to know if this thing existed
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: if not for Futurama, because you know, they they they
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: they have the same d NA I guess, and we
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: do have a character with purple hair and a ponytail,
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: but that's just coincidence.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: She's got two eyes.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Yeah, she's got two eyes and yellow skin. Yeah. It's
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: a it's the story of of Dirk and Jorgemick Sanchez
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: and Jet Paxton and they're they're off on an adventure
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: looking for looking for Jet's mom and a secret ancient
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: artifact mythical something or other a mcguffin and and this
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: is the third of six issues, and it's cool. They're
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: they're advancing on their journey. And we also have a
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: backup story starring the space hero Ray Gunderson and and
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: his his his team that we have have yet to
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: u fully name Little Cosmic Crusader guys and hell. Yes, yeah,
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: it's going to be a lot of fun.
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: Nice And can you reveal any of the maybe the
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: rewards that you're you're offering as part of the Kickstarter.
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got some of the same ones. You know,
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: don't mess, don't fix it if it ain't broke. Where
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: you can get, you can get. We'll have variant covers
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: including like you said, Jason, and we have a RL
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Black is doing a cover as well. And you can
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: get original illustrations, you can do a sketch cover, you
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: can get yourself drawn into the book. You can get
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: original art from the book, and Ben has made decoder rings. Yeah.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Nice, So we're going to be three D printing a
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: bunch of decoder rings and oh yes please, I guess
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: we'll now be obliged to throw secret messages into the
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: book here and there that you can decode.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Incredible. Yeah, and yeah, as you said, Ben, the link,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: you can follow that even if you're listening to this
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: in the first forty eight hours. But after that you
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: can pledge, you can back, you can support independent comics.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Did we do a kickstarter help promote the kickstarter for
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: ish you one. We've kind of followed this along the way, right,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Like the genial was a issue. It was an issue too.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: It was an issue too because and I came on
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: to do a space episode of Drinkipedia.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: Yes, it was long. It's been a little lot, but.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: That's the world of independent creation when you don't have
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: like a operation behind you and stuff. That's that's how
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: it's actually, that's how it's done by real people.
- 1:35:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: Well, and we wanted to make sure that we could
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: fulfill quickly, so like we're we're planning on fulfilling in December.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: So like it's not. Sometimes you have to wait like
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: six months and you get something in the mail and
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: you're like, I forgot I was interested in this, and
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: so this hopefully won't be that it'll.
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Come out, which is what happened with Issue too. Yeah.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Hell yeah Inside for the holidays. Good stuff.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: We shot in new Kickstarter video where I got to
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: take my pants off in a graveyard. That was a first.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Yeah, can't wait to see that.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: And Jason.
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: I just got Jason's art like two days ago, and
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: so I got to put the trade dress on it
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: and it's ready to go.
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: You're pretty rad, so yeah, yeah, we're looking forward to
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: supporting you because yeah. Uh, and I actually want physical
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: copies of the comics this time, so I'm whatever tea
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: that is, I'm backing it.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, we've got tears for catching up to either
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: physical or digital.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: Hell yes, good stuff. Space Oddity's Issue three Kickstarter check
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: it out, Audra Chris after this performance, do you want
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: to be found anywhere? Or you you good? Uh?
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: Don't even google me. Yeah, I'm going to go cry
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: in a dark.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: I will.
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: I'm going to go go into a cryo chamber. You
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: can if you're still around in about a thousand years,
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: you can come as I re emerge from my chrysalis and.
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: And then you can watch Futurama.
- 1:36:45Speaker 6: Then I'll watch Futurama.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: And a huge thank you to Ash and Adam, just
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: In Dodberg, Aaron Randolph, and Derek and Taylor for their

- 1:37:00Speaker 1: thanks for rebooting us again and again. Okay, let's get

- 1:37:07Speaker 1: we know you've won. Do you want to find out
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: how much it was by I.

- 1:37:17Speaker 2: We're not in a great yard anymore, Panton.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: Yes, Slim Queens finish on fourteen points, Icy Wieners finish

- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Why not, Zoidberg. We'll be back next time when another
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: games master will game some shows. But until then, I
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: leave you with this inspiring quote from God. When you
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: at all, which is what the recipients of the Academy
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: Award for Editing say every single year in their acceptance speech. Goodbye,
