- 0:09Speaker 2: The World's a vigeonal podcast Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 3: A hockey fan, you watch Brad Marshall and you're like,
- 0:21Speaker 3: I hate that guy, but we'll see how he is
- 0:23Speaker 3: now that we get it again.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I don't think the BIG's gonna be licking people. I'll
- 0:28Speaker 2: not least only eleven minutes in. I'm gonna be good.
- 0:31Speaker 4: And they got bounced in the divisional round by the Mantles.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Because he dropped a bomb with the game on the line.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Okay, I mean he made a bad play, Like, are
- 0:37Speaker 4: gonna well, if they're.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Gonna bitch about getting the most targets in football, you
- 0:42Speaker 5: need to produce when you're targeting.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You just said that, that's not what he was bitching about.
- 0:46Speaker 2: He was bitching about not getting the ball when they
- 0:48Speaker 2: were losing him.
- 0:48Speaker 5: I'm not getting he was pitching about not getting the
- 0:50Speaker 5: ball allway.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Are you sure about that, man? Is that true? Yes?
- 0:55Speaker 5: Okay, okay, we can all put I didn't make it
- 0:57Speaker 5: to twelve minutes, but we can all pretend those things didn't.
- 1:00Speaker 4: You're saying, jot a movie.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Just to let everyone know, Evan is about thirty four
- 1:04Speaker 5: seconds away from a backhand.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It's the length of the arms. I don't know why
- 1:08Speaker 2: it matters. I'm not. We told you why. I don't
- 1:10Speaker 2: protest matter.
- 1:11Speaker 5: I don't pretend to know. It's it's not something that
- 1:13Speaker 5: I care to play dumb. You know I'm not dumb.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You are.
- 1:17Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 1:22Speaker 6: dot com.
- 1:25Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:28Speaker 2: at Jiless Stadium. We got a big newsday. There's a
- 1:31Speaker 2: lot to talk about. It's Evan, it's Paul, it's me,
- 1:35Speaker 2: Matt Nabooth. Deuce is down staring at the sun in Florida.
- 1:39Speaker 2: If you're not staring at my We checked his retina
- 1:41Speaker 2: after that stand up he did yesterday because he was
- 1:44Speaker 2: kind of blinded. Did you see that? You don't you're
- 1:47Speaker 2: not on social media so you can see.
- 1:49Speaker 4: And I felt bad for him. Yeah, that's that's the worst.
- 1:51Speaker 4: When you're squinting and you know it looks bad.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Anyway, he's gonna be calling in around twelve thirty or
- 1:56Speaker 2: twelve forty five, somewhere around there. But I guess I
- 2:00Speaker 2: I would think the headline today is Robert Kraft had
- 2:03Speaker 2: his annual media scrum at the Owner's meeting and chose
- 2:07Speaker 2: to use that as an opportunity to announce that he
- 2:11Speaker 2: is selecting Bill Parcells as a contributor to the Patriots
- 2:14Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. Reaction, I think it was the right move.
- 2:19Speaker 5: I think sometimes you put you know, the other stuff
- 2:22Speaker 5: aside and you do what's right, and I think that
- 2:25Speaker 5: Robert Kraft recognized that.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I know that the two people.
- 2:30Speaker 5: That I'm joined by on this panel probably disagree, but
- 2:34Speaker 5: I just feel like you have to get in a
- 2:36Speaker 5: place that modern Patriots fans can't even fathom because you
- 2:42Speaker 5: think this is bad right now, this is nothing compared
- 2:46Speaker 5: to what it winning four games and back to back years.
- 2:48Speaker 5: The way it's gone down four and thirteen, four and thirteen,
- 2:52Speaker 5: this is just regular losing team stuff. Yeah, this is
- 2:56Speaker 5: a mere pittance compared to what Parcels inherited from ninety
- 3:00Speaker 5: to ninety two when they won eight games and three
- 3:03Speaker 5: total three total seasons. But it's not even just about
- 3:06Speaker 5: the record. It's about just the absolute disaster. Many felt
- 3:10Speaker 5: it was the worst organization in professional sports. Yep, Parcels
- 3:15Speaker 5: changed all that for a little bit.
- 3:18Speaker 2: For his years. He changed it.
- 3:20Speaker 5: It's never gone back to that. He changed and he
- 3:22Speaker 5: was forever he changed it. They're never going to be
- 3:24Speaker 5: considered the worst organization in the history of sports.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Again, well, they would have been the organization in Saint
- 3:33Speaker 2: Louis if it wasn't for Robert Kraft. I didn't say that.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Robert Craft doesn't deserve his flowers too, anybody. We're not
- 3:38Speaker 5: talking about that right now. Evan, you read my story.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Did I have that part of my story?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yes? You did? I did, Yes, you did. Evan.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I'd first say I'd defer to you guys on this
- 3:49Speaker 4: because honestly, I was four when they're in the Super
- 3:53Speaker 4: Bowl in ninety six, so I'm not the best person
- 3:57Speaker 4: to ask this question too. But I just I look
- 4:01Speaker 4: at it on paper, and on paper isn't the same
- 4:05Speaker 4: as what Paul is talking about feeling it and understanding the.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Moment, impact to the team.
- 4:09Speaker 4: And all that kind of stuff. And I fully admit
- 4:12Speaker 4: that I just look at it on paper. He had
- 4:14Speaker 4: a five hundred record with the Patriots. I get that.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Was better than what it was before. He made a
- 4:19Speaker 4: Super Bowl and then immediately left right afterwards, and I
- 4:22Speaker 4: know that there was a lot of drama and that
- 4:25Speaker 4: exit strategy that he had, But at the end of
- 4:28Speaker 4: the day, you know, Paul is probably right. He lived it.
- 4:32Speaker 7: I did.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I didn't really live it in that capacity. And his
- 4:35Speaker 4: team his Hall of Fame. So mister Kraft feels like
- 4:38Speaker 4: he belongs in the then he's in, so I wouldn't
- 4:41Speaker 4: have put him in personally, But it's not it's not
- 4:43Speaker 4: all I think.
- 4:44Speaker 2: It's the it's you said it, it's the owner's prerogative,
- 4:48Speaker 2: it's his team, his Hall of Fame. I think it's
- 4:50Speaker 2: the right move for him. It's a magnanimous move. I think,
- 4:54Speaker 2: you know, he's getting older or is old, and he
- 4:59Speaker 2: understands is what it's like to have these things happen
- 5:02Speaker 2: for you while you're still here. He's kind of going
- 5:05Speaker 2: through it himself with the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and you know, I think maybe I think maybe that
- 5:12Speaker 2: kind of softened his stance. And I'm not saying I
- 5:15Speaker 2: know for a fact a lot of people said a
- 5:18Speaker 2: lot I've heard a lot of people think that the
- 5:20Speaker 2: reason why Parcells hasn't been up in the Hall of
- 5:22Speaker 2: Fame up to now is because of Kraft. That is
- 5:25Speaker 2: one hundred percent not true. Kraft has said behind the scenes,
- 5:29Speaker 2: two people put him in. If you want to vote
- 5:34Speaker 2: him in, vote him in. He would never stand in
- 5:36Speaker 2: the way of that. So that's the part that really
- 5:39Speaker 2: bugs me.
- 5:39Speaker 5: And you know, I take it personally, and you and
- 5:42Speaker 5: I are been part of the committee since its inception,
- 5:44Speaker 5: and I think we both take it pretty seriously. And
- 5:47Speaker 5: that has often been written. You know, Dan Shaughnessy, who
- 5:50Speaker 5: I really really like.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I like him personally and I think he's a great,
- 5:54Speaker 2: great columnist.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Okay, he writes it all the time that the pettiness
- 5:58Speaker 5: at One Patriot Place is the reason why Parcels isn't
- 6:01Speaker 5: in the Hall of Fame. We've nominated him several times,
- 6:04Speaker 5: he's been a finalist five times. The fans are the
- 6:08Speaker 5: ones who aren't putting him in.
- 6:09Speaker 8: Now.
- 6:10Speaker 5: My assumption would be if Dan was sitting here with us,
- 6:13Speaker 5: he would say, well, I'd like to see the fan vote.
- 6:15Speaker 5: And I can tell you with certainty that the fans.
- 6:17Speaker 2: There is no thumb on the scale.
- 6:19Speaker 5: He's never going to get in. As long as he's
- 6:22Speaker 5: up against any of these modern players. It's the same
- 6:25Speaker 5: problems to a different scale that you know. I got
- 6:29Speaker 5: an even remember Steve BALLISTI I think that's that's his.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Name, right, I remember he's still aliveat No.
- 6:35Speaker 9: No.
- 6:36Speaker 5: But like he was, I remember when he came in.
- 6:37Speaker 5: He was a great, great part of our show. I
- 6:40Speaker 5: call him part of the extended family. He sent me
- 6:42Speaker 5: a really nice note today on you know, my story
- 6:45Speaker 5: of of parcels, and he said, you know, while we're
- 6:48Speaker 5: at it, can we still see if we can do
- 6:50Speaker 5: something for like Chuck Fairbanks and Russ Francis, guys that
- 6:53Speaker 5: absolutely deserve consideration for the Hall of Fame. They're never
- 6:57Speaker 5: going to get in because Russ Francis is never going
- 6:59Speaker 5: to beat out Julian Edelman or Wes Welker or Logan
- 7:03Speaker 5: Mankins or Rob Gronkowski or Adam Viniti and the list
- 7:06Speaker 5: goes on and on.
- 7:07Speaker 2: You have to get in on the Veterans Committee.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Right, he'd have to do the same kind of thing
- 7:11Speaker 5: that we're talking about. So I understand how people can
- 7:14Speaker 5: think that, you know, and how Dan can have that, Well,
- 7:18Speaker 5: it's because Robert Kraft doesn't want it in it's because
- 7:20Speaker 5: those petty jerks that are on that committee won't won't
- 7:23Speaker 5: nominate him.
- 7:24Speaker 2: That's not what it's not. It's not true. So you know,
- 7:28Speaker 2: Robert Craft took it in, you know, matters into his
- 7:30Speaker 2: own hands and put him in knowing that it's going
- 7:34Speaker 2: to be a long time if ever that he gets in.
- 7:36Speaker 2: So good, you know, I think it's the right move
- 7:38Speaker 2: for him personally. You know my stance, and I get it.
- 7:42Speaker 2: This is not an argument.
- 7:43Speaker 5: I totally understand why you and he he's a polarizing candidate.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and I understand why. Yeah, it's a team Hall
- 7:53Speaker 2: of Fame. To me, the criteria is much different than
- 7:56Speaker 2: the Pro Football Hall of Fame, because I hear a
- 7:58Speaker 2: lot of people say, well, he's good enough for Profooball
- 8:00Speaker 2: Hall of Fame, why isn't he good enough for the
- 8:02Speaker 2: Patriots Hall of Fame. It's a for me, it's a
- 8:05Speaker 2: different criteria.
- 8:06Speaker 5: So I would just add, and even though I'm pro
- 8:09Speaker 5: parcels being in the Patriots Hall of Fame, it's much different.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Like it's not necessarily the criteria being different, it's he
- 8:19Speaker 5: was thirty two and thirty two, like Evan said, those
- 8:21Speaker 5: are the numbers yeah, so you can make an argument
- 8:24Speaker 5: that that's not good enough to be in the Team
- 8:25Speaker 5: Hall of Fame. Now, I would strongly weigh the circumstances.
- 8:31Speaker 5: They were eight and thirty nine in the three years combined,
- 8:34Speaker 5: leaning into his a writer, no, I know, so I'm
- 8:37Speaker 5: gonna give him a little bit of slack. I don't
- 8:40Speaker 5: even hold that against him the record. What I hold
- 8:42Speaker 5: against him is all the behind the scenes stuff.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Sure, the drama that he created, the year to year
- 8:48Speaker 2: uncertainty of whether he was going to be here or not,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know, in the trouble that he caused behind the scenes,
- 8:54Speaker 2: and it was a negative thing. And that's not to
- 8:58Speaker 2: me that it's not being part of all a team
- 9:02Speaker 2: Hall of.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Fan I get that it all depends on how much
- 9:04Speaker 5: you want to weigh on each side, and that's why
- 9:06Speaker 5: it's an individual choice.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yep. So but good. But I think it's a good
- 9:10Speaker 2: thing Roberts the Patriots to have him in there. It'll
- 9:14Speaker 2: be really cool to see him again, you know. I'm
- 9:18Speaker 2: assuming he's going to come up for the event hopefully,
- 9:21Speaker 2: And as Paul said, we will meet on Thursday to
- 9:23Speaker 2: do the normal nomination of a player, so Parcels will
- 9:28Speaker 2: go in as a contributor, but we will still have
- 9:31Speaker 2: a player this year. We'll have three players this year nominated,
- 9:35Speaker 2: and then the fans will vote and whoever gets the
- 9:37Speaker 2: highest vote will go in with parcels.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I do like that stacked class by the way, Yeah, that.
- 9:42Speaker 4: It's a contributor category. Like putting him up on the
- 9:46Speaker 4: on the ballot was getting like a little bit tiresome.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he's never going to get in on fan vote,
- 9:52Speaker 4: so putting him in as a contributor doesn't feel quite
- 9:55Speaker 4: as all right, we didn't have to continue doing the nomination.
- 9:59Speaker 4: It was five times on the back.
- 10:01Speaker 5: It almost gets to you know, in Rabel dealt with this.
- 10:04Speaker 5: You know, Rabe was a five time finalist, I believe
- 10:07Speaker 5: before he did so. Yeah, it almost becomes a point
- 10:10Speaker 5: where it's almost embarrassing, right, and it shouldn't be.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It should be an honor. I tell the story about
- 10:15Speaker 2: going to Nashville for a conference and I was in
- 10:17Speaker 2: the first row a woman and her son sitting next
- 10:20Speaker 2: to me, and I hear the woman say, why do
- 10:22Speaker 2: they just keep nominating? He's never going to get in.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Why don't they just take his name off? And I
- 10:26Speaker 2: realized it was Rabel's wife and his son, and at
- 10:30Speaker 2: the end I introduced myself and I said, he'll get
- 10:32Speaker 2: in eventually, don't worry.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I know. It's a stacked class this time around, though,
- 10:36Speaker 4: I'm very interested to see because my generation of Patriot
- 10:42Speaker 4: fan Julian Edelman is one of the all time all
- 10:47Speaker 4: timer's and is still very much in the public eye
- 10:51Speaker 4: with his podcast and media career. Adam VINITERI probably should
- 10:55Speaker 4: get in first just on order of operations, but there's
- 10:59Speaker 4: going to be a lot of people that are twenty
- 11:01Speaker 4: tens die hards.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that are.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Going to vote on Edelman because of his popularity sure
- 11:07Speaker 4: with the fan base, and that'll be interesting. I would
- 11:10Speaker 4: vote for Vinitary just because I think order matters.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I'm surprised that you have that take.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I just think he needs to be in.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Well, I think the Patriots Vinitaria didn't get lucky, but
- 11:22Speaker 2: the Patriots got lucky that he didn't get into the
- 11:24Speaker 2: Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first ballot, because
- 11:26Speaker 2: then it allows us to get him into the Patriots
- 11:29Speaker 2: Hall of Fame first. Yeah, so let's take advantage of
- 11:33Speaker 2: that and do it.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, there's no dynasty with the vanitary right.
- 11:36Speaker 5: He'd be my pick too. But yeah, I mean I
- 11:39Speaker 5: could definitely see. I mean I'd be surprised if Edelman
- 11:42Speaker 5: doesn't win. I think what Evans said is right. I
- 11:45Speaker 5: think he's a fan favorite, and I think he's much
- 11:48Speaker 5: more in the public.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I think I give more credit to the fans. I
- 11:50Speaker 2: think they would. I'll waiting for them to prove military
- 11:53Speaker 2: is on the ballot. He will get along. We've been
- 11:55Speaker 2: doing this, I don't know fifty years. I'm waiting now.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I meant the Hall of fam So I was kidding.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'm waiting for them to prove me wrong. Yeah, all right,
- 12:04Speaker 2: So so that's that to me. That was the headline today,
- 12:08Speaker 2: right is that? Would you agree? I would say that
- 12:10Speaker 2: was that was big news.
- 12:11Speaker 5: And you got some some league matters that are that
- 12:14Speaker 5: are coming down to with some rule rule proposals and changes.
- 12:18Speaker 2: We'll get into some rule debate rule changes. Whether you
- 12:22Speaker 2: agree with him or not, we'll talk about that. Like
- 12:25Speaker 2: I said, so we'll be calling in. Uh so maybe
- 12:28Speaker 2: we'll wait until he calls in to kind of kick
- 12:31Speaker 2: off that discussion.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Uh.
- 12:33Speaker 5: And you know, we heard from Vrabel yesterday and there
- 12:35Speaker 5: was some I thought some.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys getting a lot of criticism, which guy Felger.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Oh is he really? So? Felger had an exclusive, He
- 12:45Speaker 2: had a one on one because I guess he's set
- 12:47Speaker 2: up down in Florida. Well he requested that. Yeah, but
- 12:50Speaker 2: he's down in Florida. His parents' house is very close. Yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 2: so he's taken advantage of being down there, and you know,
- 12:57Speaker 2: so we set up, uh and he had very and
- 13:01Speaker 2: a lot of people on your station, uh criticizing him
- 13:05Speaker 2: for being a softie. It's like, you know, you're the
- 13:08Speaker 2: first person to criticize the media for being too soft
- 13:12Speaker 2: and then here you are yucking it up. Yeah. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 2: I thought he was Okay, I'm just gonna look that.
- 13:19Speaker 2: One said, I you know, Paul doesn't want to you know,
- 13:23Speaker 2: but I you know why why No, If you don't,
- 13:27Speaker 2: then I'm not gonna say anything. Okay. Well he was
- 13:30Speaker 2: soft on him. Yeah, but I thought it was fine.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Like he asked, like he talked. He said, I has
- 13:37Speaker 2: said that, or maybe that was Wolf that he said
- 13:39Speaker 2: that too. Yeah. I guess he was soft with Rabel.
- 13:42Speaker 2: He was soft with both of them. With Wolf, heily,
- 13:44Speaker 2: he admitted that, you know, I said that when you
- 13:47Speaker 2: when Rabel got here, all you would be doing is
- 13:49Speaker 2: checking the fax machine, getting coffee and the players and
- 13:52Speaker 2: turning off the lights at the end of the night.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So he admitted that. You know, so I don't think
- 13:58Speaker 2: he was necessarily off with Well, maybe he was a
- 14:01Speaker 2: little soft with Rabel, yucking it up a little bit.
- 14:05Speaker 5: I thought you were making fun of him because I
- 14:07Speaker 5: guess he did an eighteen minute interview with Rabel and
- 14:10Speaker 5: they lost connectivity for like five minutes, and he didn't know,
- 14:15Speaker 5: so they lost a chunk of the audio. They got
- 14:17Speaker 5: it like it's poor quality.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so they.
- 14:22Speaker 5: Were making fun of him for not having any idea
- 14:24Speaker 5: of what he's doing, Like from a tech point like me,
- 14:27Speaker 5: he'd be like me, like that would happen certainly for that.
- 14:31Speaker 2: But before that, Rabel had his breakfast with the media
- 14:35Speaker 2: thirty four minutes. Yeah, so on extended talk, What did
- 14:39Speaker 2: you glean from that? Anything interesting? Newsworthy?
- 14:44Speaker 4: I wrote about it on Patriots dot com. There's a
- 14:47Speaker 4: few a few things that stood out. He was asked
- 14:50Speaker 4: specifically about a few prospects, which obviously he spoke lowingly about,
- 14:57Speaker 4: Tyler Warren, Travis Hunter, Abdul Will Campbell, armand Membu didn't
- 15:03Speaker 4: get asked about Abdul Carter, but you know, all positive stuff.
- 15:07Speaker 4: But I thought, what was a couple of things I
- 15:10Speaker 4: thought were interesting? First one very clearly in the running
- 15:14Speaker 4: back business. In the draft, he basically said we're going
- 15:17Speaker 4: to draft a running back, and then today mister Kraft
- 15:20Speaker 4: basically said we're going to draft a running back too.
- 15:22Speaker 4: So it sounds like running back is in play. But
- 15:26Speaker 4: I wouldn't say, based off of variables and answers that
- 15:30Speaker 4: gent is really what they're looking at, right. You know,
- 15:33Speaker 4: I think that they he's well, every time he's been
- 15:36Speaker 4: asked about running backs, he's back from Andre Stevenson instead
- 15:39Speaker 4: of the fumbling was not just his fault. You know
- 15:42Speaker 4: that he's got guys hanging all over him and you
- 15:45Speaker 4: know there's unblocked you know, rushers, things like that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So he's back to Andre a handful of times now.
- 15:53Speaker 4: So I don't think that they're looking to push for
- 15:55Speaker 4: Mare completely out. But he said that they would like
- 15:58Speaker 4: to have a young running back with some juice, you know,
- 16:01Speaker 4: some speed, And mister Kraft said specifically a speedback. You know,
- 16:05Speaker 4: he said, you know someone that's got some speed, So
- 16:08Speaker 4: I think that's on the docket. There's still Will Campbell's
- 16:12Speaker 4: a tackle. You know, they feel like he's a tackle.
- 16:14Speaker 4: He gave the line of SEC you know, competition, and
- 16:18Speaker 4: he held up in the SEC, so why not in
- 16:21Speaker 4: the NFL. And you know, Travis Hunter just pushed piecing
- 16:25Speaker 4: together all the different media stuff that him and Wolf
- 16:28Speaker 4: did yesterday. I still feel like, pretty strongly that if
- 16:33Speaker 4: Travis Hunter is there at four, they are running that
- 16:35Speaker 4: card as fast as they possibly can.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Listen, assuming he's not, though, and assuming Carter's not, I'm
- 16:42Speaker 2: all in on Will Campbell. I've decided I am all
- 16:45Speaker 2: in on Will Campbell. I like what he has had
- 16:49Speaker 2: to say. I like what his supporters have had to
- 16:53Speaker 2: say about him and his attitude and his his you know,
- 16:57Speaker 2: toughness and all that. And listen, at the end end
- 17:00Speaker 2: of the day, if the worst thing is that he's
- 17:02Speaker 2: a really great guard for us for ten years, then
- 17:07Speaker 2: I'm willing to take that chance, you know, in this draft,
- 17:10Speaker 2: in this particular draft. So I'm I'm all in on
- 17:13Speaker 2: Will Campbell.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I definitely feels you know, they pick four, so
- 17:17Speaker 4: you need four players on your on your board at four, right,
- 17:20Speaker 4: you're not gonna put eight guys because you're not. You
- 17:23Speaker 4: don't need that many guys. So, just reading through the
- 17:26Speaker 4: lines a little bit, I think Abdul Carter and Travis
- 17:29Speaker 4: Hunter are obviously going to be on that short list.
- 17:31Speaker 4: And I think the two tackles, Campbell and Membu, and
- 17:34Speaker 4: I think they're going to decide which would they rather
- 17:36Speaker 4: flip Membo from right to left or I'd rather have
- 17:40Speaker 4: the guy.
- 17:40Speaker 2: That's played left tackle, you know, and has good tape,
- 17:44Speaker 2: by the way, played against good competition.
- 17:47Speaker 5: I wouldn't argue with any either one of those mentalities.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I don't want it.
- 17:52Speaker 5: I if I'm going to take a tackle that high
- 17:55Speaker 5: in the draft, I needed to be a sure fire
- 17:57Speaker 5: left tackle and I don't, and there isn't one, so
- 17:59Speaker 5: I'm looking somewhere else, But I don't. This is not
- 18:02Speaker 5: one of those I'm gonna ye go to.
- 18:04Speaker 2: The mattresses with you on. Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 5: I think it makes perfect sense to say he's a
- 18:09Speaker 5: really good tackle in the SEC.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Let's make it.
- 18:12Speaker 5: Let's let's find out if he can do it before
- 18:14Speaker 5: we just say he can't.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But here's the thing. With all the guys after Hunter
- 18:17Speaker 2: and Carter, there's kind of stuff with all of them.
- 18:21Speaker 2: The good The thing I like about Campbell he's got
- 18:23Speaker 2: a safety net. If he doesn't play tackle, he can
- 18:26Speaker 2: play guard. If you take Tech McMillan and he's not
- 18:29Speaker 2: a good wide receiver, you're not making him a corner back.
- 18:32Speaker 2: The five other guys, you know, like like like the
- 18:35Speaker 2: other guys, the other guys, if they're not good at
- 18:37Speaker 2: their position, now you're screwed. So I feel like I
- 18:42Speaker 2: have a safety net.
- 18:43Speaker 5: That's one guy, Teed McMillan, who also has a lot
- 18:47Speaker 5: of questions, but he's probably not even gonna go in
- 18:49Speaker 5: the top ten.
- 18:49Speaker 2: If it takes Mason Graham and he's not good at
- 18:51Speaker 2: his position, what do you do with him?
- 18:54Speaker 5: If Will Campbell is not good at his position, that's
- 18:57Speaker 5: a bust of a pick.
- 18:58Speaker 2: He plays guard. Yeah, I know when that's not that's
- 19:00Speaker 2: not good value. But that's not good value forget about
- 19:03Speaker 2: the Mason. But we've already established that there in this draft.
- 19:07Speaker 5: If Mason Graham is not a very good defensive tackle,
- 19:10Speaker 5: he's going to continue to play defensive tackle.
- 19:12Speaker 4: They're not just going to cut him, but he's not
- 19:14Speaker 4: going to be good at it, Just.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Like the guy who can't play tech, he can be
- 19:18Speaker 2: good at guard. There's a safety net, is what I'm saying.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I don't like that reasoning for I don't want to
- 19:24Speaker 5: take a safety net pick at number four.
- 19:26Speaker 2: But you're not going to find a guy in Tyler at.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Four, Tyler Warren Fashton Genty.
- 19:31Speaker 2: But all these guys, if for some reason they're not
- 19:34Speaker 2: good at their position, there's no fallback.
- 19:36Speaker 4: But why are they not good at their position?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Who knows? Do you know for certain thing? Do you
- 19:41Speaker 2: know for certain that Will Campbell's going to be a
- 19:43Speaker 2: really good guard? Yes? You do? Yes?
- 19:45Speaker 4: Okay, then I know for certain that Ashton Genty is
- 19:47Speaker 4: going to be a really.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Good Kay, Then you're gonna pick Ashton Genty. I'd rather
- 19:50Speaker 2: pick him than a guard.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Yes, but you're not picking well okay, if you can't
- 19:54Speaker 5: play tackle, I don't want them.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Okay, But the assumption if you take him is that
- 19:58Speaker 2: he can't have a and I'll play with that. I say,
- 20:01Speaker 2: assumption if you take Genty is that he can. But
- 20:03Speaker 2: if he can't, there's no fallback.
- 20:04Speaker 5: See what I started this when I said to you,
- 20:07Speaker 5: I have no problem doing the Will Campbell can play
- 20:11Speaker 5: left tackle like the argument that Evan made. I think
- 20:14Speaker 5: last week strong competition in the SEC left tackle he has,
- 20:21Speaker 5: he has.
- 20:22Speaker 2: The profile I have.
- 20:23Speaker 5: So you're telling me the arms don't matter as much
- 20:26Speaker 5: to you as others left tackle. But I'm not doing
- 20:30Speaker 5: it because I have a safety net if it doesn't work.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I'm just saying that doesn't make any particular draft. I
- 20:36Speaker 2: haven't heard anyone that says that's that guy's worth a
- 20:39Speaker 2: fourth pick, and so I would agree with that. So
- 20:42Speaker 2: you're compromising with everybody and at least in this compromise.
- 20:46Speaker 5: But it might have a fallback. I get that, and
- 20:52Speaker 5: you're right. I don't think if you disagree, I jump
- 20:55Speaker 5: in like I don't think there is a guy at
- 20:57Speaker 5: the fourth pick that.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Is usually I get that fired up about the draft.
- 21:01Speaker 5: You know, but I agree with Fred like I, like
- 21:03Speaker 5: I said, I really go to the mattresses with you,
- 21:06Speaker 5: because there really I don't think there is a guy
- 21:08Speaker 5: at the fourth pick that's consensus you have to take him, right.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I don't think that exists.
- 21:12Speaker 4: This has been a pain point for me with this draft,
- 21:15Speaker 4: trying to talk about this draft for months because it's
- 21:19Speaker 4: just the talent at the top is not there this year.
- 21:22Speaker 4: The talent at the top is not there. So you
- 21:24Speaker 4: can draft. You can go through five, six, seven different names,
- 21:29Speaker 4: and all of them have warks. Whether it's the position
- 21:31Speaker 4: that they play, it's their athletic profiles, it's their arms
- 21:34Speaker 4: are too short, their smaller prospects for their position. One's
- 21:38Speaker 4: a right tackle that you're gonna have to play at
- 21:40Speaker 4: left tackle. One's got short arms. Ted McMillan's a slow receiver.
- 21:44Speaker 4: You know, he's a mid four to fives receiver. Like,
- 21:46Speaker 4: is that you're taking that at four overall? You know,
- 21:49Speaker 4: Tyler Warren is a really good player, but I think
- 21:51Speaker 4: his best trait is versatility. I don't think he's a
- 21:54Speaker 4: dominant athlete necessarily. I think he's a very versatile, very
- 21:59Speaker 4: well run tight end. That's great, but I don't think
- 22:02Speaker 4: that's worth the fourth overall pick in most drafts. That's
- 22:06Speaker 4: not this year, right. So what I've continued to say
- 22:10Speaker 4: is that this is where filling needs and improving, you know,
- 22:14Speaker 4: weaknesses in the football team comes into play more in
- 22:17Speaker 4: a draft like this than a draft like maybe last year,
- 22:20Speaker 4: where you could make an honest case for Malik Neighbors
- 22:24Speaker 4: or Jolt Right or you know, Marvin Harrison Junior or whatever.
- 22:28Speaker 4: This is not that class. Unfortunately, there's the talent, he's
- 22:31Speaker 4: not there at the top.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and like that's I would agree with you that
- 22:34Speaker 5: no one thinks that X is the guy that should
- 22:37Speaker 5: be taken fourth. So I'm okay with Will Campbell. I
- 22:40Speaker 5: don't want this. I'm a sort of proceeding. I just
- 22:43Speaker 5: would say that, like you're talking about this, no one
- 22:45Speaker 5: that has the value of the fourth overall pick. Well,
- 22:47Speaker 5: in my view, this is not like fact. This is
- 22:50Speaker 5: just my view. God would be the least valuable thing
- 22:54Speaker 5: that you could take at that pick. So if you
- 22:56Speaker 5: don't think you can play tackle, I wouldn't do it.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I would rather have I do think he
- 23:00Speaker 2: can play.
- 23:01Speaker 5: I would rather have a guy who turns out to
- 23:03Speaker 5: be an average tight end or an average running back
- 23:07Speaker 5: than a good a really good guard.
- 23:09Speaker 2: No, I agree with that. I would if he was
- 23:10Speaker 2: a guard, I wouldn't even consider him at four. So
- 23:13Speaker 2: if they want to take him as a tackle that
- 23:16Speaker 2: I won't be I want. I will be hard to
- 23:18Speaker 2: push and convince. That's what I am recommending.
- 23:20Speaker 4: But I think what what Fred's getting at too is
- 23:23Speaker 4: let's say as a rookie, you he's your best left
- 23:27Speaker 4: tackle on the roster. Right, I think that's not debatable.
- 23:30Speaker 4: So you're gonna play him at left tackle as a rookie.
- 23:33Speaker 4: But if we go into next offseason and Rashaan Slater
- 23:36Speaker 4: is a free agent and actually hits unrestricted free agency
- 23:39Speaker 4: and you can throw twenty five million dollars at Rashawn Slater,
- 23:43Speaker 4: is it the worst thing in the world to then
- 23:45Speaker 4: kick Campbell inside to left guard and have a left
- 23:48Speaker 4: side for the next five years. That's Rashaun Slater and
- 23:50Speaker 4: Will Campbell.
- 23:51Speaker 5: No, But would it be the worst thing in the
- 23:53Speaker 5: world if you just plug in somebody at left tackle
- 23:56Speaker 5: like Kayden Wallace, who vrabel said yesterday, I think will
- 24:00Speaker 5: get a look there and just you know, fill the
- 24:03Speaker 5: spot for a year and then sign Machan's later next year. Yes,
- 24:06Speaker 5: I think what's the difference. Kane Wallace might get your
- 24:08Speaker 5: quarterback killed.
- 24:09Speaker 4: That's important.
- 24:10Speaker 5: I mean, if if Will Campbell can't play tackle, why
- 24:13Speaker 5: is he not getting your quarterback?
- 24:14Speaker 4: Well, because I don't think that he can't play tackle.
- 24:16Speaker 4: He just might not be as good of a tackle
- 24:19Speaker 4: as he would be at guard.
- 24:20Speaker 5: But I'm talking he's not going to be able to
- 24:21Speaker 5: play the position.
- 24:23Speaker 4: I don't think that that's I think he'll have a
- 24:25Speaker 4: baseline level of being able to play the position. It's
- 24:27Speaker 4: more just you know, what's what's his upside at tackle
- 24:31Speaker 4: versus what's his upside at guard?
- 24:32Speaker 5: And I also don't love the idea of well, you know,
- 24:35Speaker 5: because we've fallen into this before, you know, well, you
- 24:38Speaker 5: have the safety that he's a great guard, Like, okay,
- 24:40Speaker 5: if you say so. I mean there's plenty of guys
- 24:42Speaker 5: that get taken that is short fire players in the
- 24:44Speaker 5: top ten that don't end up being good.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Jonathan Cooper was like a six to
- 24:49Speaker 2: overall pick. I think he's stunk.
- 24:52Speaker 4: I wouldn't like I would just look at Will Campbell
- 24:54Speaker 4: as a tackle and leave it there. But I I
- 24:57Speaker 4: understand where he's coming from that if worst comes to worse,
- 25:01Speaker 4: then you can move him inside right, and he still
- 25:04Speaker 4: has an NFL career playing on the inside.
- 25:07Speaker 2: This but I think there's all these reasons not to
- 25:09Speaker 2: take these guys at four. I'm looking for a reason
- 25:12Speaker 2: to take a guy at four. I don't like that reason.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I mean, in this draft, you have to I guess you're.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Making an assumption that I'm not willing to make. Okay,
- 25:20Speaker 5: he's going to be a great guard, Like I don't
- 25:22Speaker 5: know that.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Well, I'm looking. I'm looking for reasons. I'm looking. I'm
- 25:26Speaker 2: trying to make lemon out of lemonade. I mean lemonade
- 25:30Speaker 2: out of lemons.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean. I think the biggest
- 25:35Speaker 4: thing to advocate for will camp, which I've done plenty
- 25:38Speaker 4: of so I don't have to keep doing it. But
- 25:40Speaker 4: the football character and the guy that you're getting apparently.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Off the I love that too.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Yeah, Like you are getting a guy that most project
- 25:50Speaker 4: will be like a year or two captain and like
- 25:52Speaker 4: a captain for your football team for like the next
- 25:54Speaker 4: ten years.
- 25:55Speaker 2: By the way I talked about it last week, I've
- 25:58Speaker 2: come up with the fool proof measuring system for these guys.
- 26:02Speaker 2: And I mentioned like guys that block like this. I
- 26:06Speaker 2: mentioned I mentioned you should do it from So here's
- 26:09Speaker 2: how it works. Okay, he's leaning up against the wall,
- 26:12Speaker 2: his head has to be touching the wall, arms out,
- 26:15Speaker 2: fingers up, and then there's a measurement on the floor.
- 26:18Speaker 2: All right. Then there's a sliding thing that comes up
- 26:21Speaker 2: and meets his hand, his hands and you can't fudge it.
- 26:25Speaker 2: You can't fudge it. It is what it is. Everyone's
- 26:28Speaker 2: the same and you know exactly what is the base
- 26:33Speaker 2: of his hands, what the measurement is, and there's no
- 26:36Speaker 2: fudging it. There's no leaning forward because his back has
- 26:39Speaker 2: to be against the wall, head has to be touching,
- 26:42Speaker 2: and everyone is apples to apples, and there is no
- 26:46Speaker 2: inconsistency with this measuring system. Call it the Fred Kersh
- 26:51Speaker 2: Lineman arm length measuring system.
- 26:53Speaker 4: You know it's crazy, is you could probably make some
- 26:55Speaker 4: money off of that, Like the NFL will pay you
- 26:57Speaker 4: a lot of money if you actually could manufact this.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah machine. It's portable, but it's full proof. It
- 27:05Speaker 2: is full proof.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a tough draft.
- 27:10Speaker 10: WHA.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Why are we're just gonna talk about arm length forever?
- 27:16Speaker 2: But especially if they I want to put no, you
- 27:19Speaker 2: would you incorporate my system and you do away with
- 27:24Speaker 2: the talk forever. You don't ever have to talk about
- 27:26Speaker 2: it anymore because it's there's no controversy. It is what
- 27:29Speaker 2: it is. This is the number. There's no fudging it,
- 27:34Speaker 2: and now we don't have to talk about this arm
- 27:37Speaker 2: length all the time.
- 27:40Speaker 4: I do think we talk a lot more about the
- 27:41Speaker 4: arm length than the people actually making these decisions in
- 27:44Speaker 4: the NFL do I. I don't think a lot of
- 27:47Speaker 4: people are are having these extensive conversations that actually make
- 27:51Speaker 4: decisions in the in the league about arm length. I
- 27:54Speaker 4: think this is all all, all the combine stuff. All
- 27:57Speaker 4: this stuff is always secondary to the tape, like what
- 28:01Speaker 4: what does you do on tape? And then you know,
- 28:04Speaker 4: we get into these other things I think are small
- 28:07Speaker 4: pieces to the puzzle, not the main pieces of the puzzle.
- 28:10Speaker 2: But it's a tough to main pieces is tape. Yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and I like what I see I do. And the
- 28:17Speaker 2: second some people agree with you. And the second piece
- 28:20Speaker 2: is his character and his football, love of football and
- 28:22Speaker 2: its toughness. I would say everybody agrees. And I love
- 28:25Speaker 2: that too. So I'm all in on Will Campbell sign
- 28:28Speaker 2: me up?
- 28:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm good.
- 28:30Speaker 5: You guys are selling me. As long as he plays tackle,
- 28:33Speaker 5: I'm good.
- 28:33Speaker 2: If Carter or Hunter are there, now I have to
- 28:35Speaker 2: start thinking, now, I'm probably gonna take Hunter or Carter,
- 28:38Speaker 2: but I'm assuming they're not going to be there.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Look, there's there's outliers at everything. There there's outliers
- 28:46Speaker 4: for short arm tackles, and there's outliers for right tackles
- 28:50Speaker 4: moving to left tackle. You know Tristan Wharf's move from
- 28:52Speaker 4: right to left. Your guy, Tyrone Smith moved from right
- 28:55Speaker 4: to left us the right tackle at USC. But those
- 28:58Speaker 4: are the only two guys that have done it at
- 29:00Speaker 4: a really high level in the last like twenty years
- 29:03Speaker 4: or so. So you're talking about two guys that might
- 29:06Speaker 4: be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday as
- 29:08Speaker 4: the armand Membu comp right. You know, you were talking
- 29:11Speaker 4: about some really good players. You know, Jedrick Willis did
- 29:14Speaker 4: it too, but I don't think Jeddrick Wills is in
- 29:16Speaker 4: that category with those other two. But but you know,
- 29:20Speaker 4: both of them are kind of outliers.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Just a funny note. I was on Peloton last night
- 29:25Speaker 2: and there's a program in Peloton where you can choose
- 29:28Speaker 2: to you can choose to ride through like cities or whatever,
- 29:32Speaker 2: and one of the options was Marseille, France. Eric would
- 29:36Speaker 2: like that. So I'm, you know, I'm I'm riding through
- 29:39Speaker 2: the city street and the like tours everywhere there's a
- 29:42Speaker 2: young kid with a Drake May North Carolina shirt on.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. That was so that was funny
- 29:48Speaker 2: of all the random college shirts. There's Drake May in Marseille.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Wow, Paul wants to get them killed. But what scrub
- 29:56Speaker 4: left tackles out there? Oh?
- 29:58Speaker 2: I think that's what. All right, careful myself, careful, all right,
- 30:04Speaker 2: just in case. So we're going to talk about rule
- 30:07Speaker 2: changes coming up. We talked about Robert Craft and Mike Vrabel,
- 30:10Speaker 2: Bill Parcells. We talked about the draft. One thing about
- 30:15Speaker 2: Robert kraft scrum that I thought was interesting, him getting
- 30:19Speaker 2: a little bit kind of edgy when asked about succession,
- 30:24Speaker 2: and he said, you know, that's kind of a biased question,
- 30:27Speaker 2: you know, talking about age. In other words, I'm not
- 30:30Speaker 2: going anywhere, so why I you know, we have a plan,
- 30:33Speaker 2: don't worry about it, but you know, don't kick me
- 30:36Speaker 2: out of the door before I'm ready. Did you catch
- 30:39Speaker 2: that I did?
- 30:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I have no problem. Like I get why the
- 30:43Speaker 4: question was asked, obviously, But is anybody confused as to
- 30:48Speaker 4: who's taking over the team next? Like we all know right, Well,
- 30:53Speaker 4: that's the part that confused me about the question.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Robert's going to outlive me, so you know, you know,
- 30:58Speaker 2: like that's not even.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I didn't see Robert's scrum.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Oh you didn't know, I feel like they didn't post it.
- 31:06Speaker 2: It's posted now, okay, but we didn't cover that live,
- 31:10Speaker 2: like we know.
- 31:10Speaker 5: I knew that, but I didn't. You guys sounded like
- 31:13Speaker 5: you had all seen it.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Well I saw it because I think somebody else posted it.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Maybe Mark Daniels is somebody else.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I watched the whole thing before it's up on the
- 31:22Speaker 4: site and YouTube and everything.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Now, yeah he did.
- 31:26Speaker 4: But that was just my takeaway from the court. I mean,
- 31:29Speaker 4: like it's I think it's pretty obvious who's next in
- 31:31Speaker 4: line to run the team, right, I.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Mean many say he's already running the team, right. So yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 2: so okay, what else?
- 31:41Speaker 4: Anything more questions about the team plane? Fred?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Oh, and that's a good by the way. By the way,
- 31:48Speaker 2: I'm glad that Robert addressed that because I'm we're on
- 31:52Speaker 2: the plane. You've been on the plane? Have you been
- 31:54Speaker 2: on the new plane? I have, but I don't not
- 31:57Speaker 2: like you guys every week, Like I didn't want to
- 31:59Speaker 2: come out and say it on the show because I
- 32:01Speaker 2: don't go back in the players. I've gone through it
- 32:04Speaker 2: quickly to get off the plane. But I didn't take
- 32:07Speaker 2: an audit. But I have never seen an ashtray on
- 32:11Speaker 2: that plane. I just didn't want to say because I
- 32:13Speaker 2: couldn't have been sure. But there's no ash trays on
- 32:17Speaker 2: that plane.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I've never seen an ara No. I Sometimes I feel
- 32:22Speaker 4: like when the things about the plane come up, I
- 32:25Speaker 4: do get a little bit like annoyed by it because
- 32:28Speaker 4: the treatment that we get when we go on that
- 32:31Speaker 4: plane is, yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 2: You're catered first class. But somebody's filling out that NFLPA
- 32:37Speaker 2: survey and they could have made a joke the plane
- 32:39Speaker 2: is so old that has ashtrays. It could have been
- 32:41Speaker 2: a throwaway line, but it's taken as gospel because there's
- 32:46Speaker 2: no way to like, oh, are you serious about that
- 32:48Speaker 2: or not? But there's no ashtrays on the plane.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Not that I've seen. I mean, there's certainly things that
- 32:53Speaker 4: they could upgrade. We've talked about it, you know that
- 32:55Speaker 4: they that could be upgrade.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah, the Wi Fi can be better, for sure.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Yeah. But the service that you get on this plane, right,
- 33:04Speaker 4: you are you are on Air Force one, like you,
- 33:07Speaker 4: The amount of food that they throw at you, the
- 33:10Speaker 4: attention that the stewardess is, it's just just yeah, they
- 33:16Speaker 4: call him flight Is that a different name?
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yeah? It is now but anyway, I would make the
- 33:21Speaker 2: same mistake. But the whole travel, the whole travel process
- 33:25Speaker 2: itself is I think top notch. I think a few
- 33:28Speaker 2: years ago, particularly with Belichick, there were a couple like
- 33:31Speaker 2: hotels that he liked to go to because of maybe
- 33:34Speaker 2: they were a little bit more secluded that we're probably
- 33:37Speaker 2: less than a four star hotel. And I think that
- 33:40Speaker 2: when the last nfl PA survey came out, they said,
- 33:44Speaker 2: you know, we got to stop going of those you know,
- 33:47Speaker 2: uh hotels in New Jersey that are right on the highway.
- 33:52Speaker 2: And so all the hotels we stay at now are
- 33:53Speaker 2: at least four star hotels. Like I said, everything is
- 33:57Speaker 2: the players get catered to. It's everything they want, they
- 34:00Speaker 2: get the only way to travel. I say it all
- 34:03Speaker 2: the time.
- 34:03Speaker 5: People ask me what it's like. It's like spoil you
- 34:06Speaker 5: for traveling regular.
- 34:08Speaker 2: So I didn't understand f when it came to the travel,
- 34:11Speaker 2: I don't. I don't understand like where that came from.
- 34:14Speaker 2: But you know, I'm sure there were some other reasons.
- 34:17Speaker 2: But there's no ashtrays on the plane.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I definitely feel the same way.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I just don't have anything.
- 34:23Speaker 5: To compare it to, So I don't know what other
- 34:25Speaker 5: teams do.
- 34:26Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 34:27Speaker 5: I just can't imagine, you know. And I did it
- 34:29Speaker 5: for what ten twelve fifteen years with you, Freddie, I
- 34:33Speaker 5: never had any issues, right, and that was before even.
- 34:36Speaker 2: The time that I was late. Dante scolded me when
- 34:38Speaker 2: I got on the plane. I mean, just if he
- 34:41Speaker 2: didn't really matter. He just gave me a shake.
- 34:44Speaker 4: The amount of food alone that they give you, oh well,
- 34:47Speaker 4: even just for a flight to New Jersey to go
- 34:51Speaker 4: play the Jets is like, you know, you could eat
- 34:54Speaker 4: for a week just through all the options that they have.
- 34:56Speaker 4: So I I don't know, I don't know how you
- 34:59Speaker 4: can really complain to you.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm glad he said that, you know, out loud,
- 35:05Speaker 2: because I wanted to say it, but I just, well,
- 35:07Speaker 2: maybe there's a couple out back that I don't know about,
- 35:10Speaker 2: you know anyway.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I also not that it was like it
- 35:17Speaker 4: was kind of common sense. But he had a line
- 35:19Speaker 4: in there about the draft, and he kind of picked
- 35:24Speaker 4: out some positions which I thought was interesting that they
- 35:27Speaker 4: would target in the draft.
- 35:28Speaker 2: And then because she would leave that out, I wish
- 35:30Speaker 2: you would just say, I defer to the people that
- 35:32Speaker 2: I paid to do that stuff.
- 35:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so you know, offensive line receiver, and he said
- 35:37Speaker 4: speed running back in particular, not not you know.
- 35:41Speaker 2: Somebody told him that.
- 35:42Speaker 4: That's that's sort of what I'm getting at, Like we're
- 35:44Speaker 4: not talking about Lagara Blunt. He said speed running back specifically,
- 35:49Speaker 4: and I can't imagine that he's He caught himself and said,
- 35:53Speaker 4: you know, just speaking as a fan, I was like, well, obviously,
- 35:56Speaker 4: like the.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Year when Pete Carroll got here and they were talking
- 35:59Speaker 2: about the draft, and all of a sudden, Robert Kraft
- 36:02Speaker 2: started using this term press corner up to then, like
- 36:05Speaker 2: he hadn't really used that. Yeah, just stop, I remember that.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yeah, but my next mock draft will be tackle receiver
- 36:15Speaker 4: running back. I can tell you that because he basically
- 36:18Speaker 4: just told you that that's that's what they're going to do.
- 36:21Speaker 4: So yeah, it is common sense a little bit though.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Okay, Cam Scataboo, Yeah, I want him on my Freddy
- 36:29Speaker 5: would be like, just beside himself.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I want him on my football team. And I like
- 36:33Speaker 2: this Trapillo guy too. As a later round pick.
- 36:37Speaker 5: He's gonna be I think, Yeah, he's you identify guys
- 36:42Speaker 5: in the seventh round that go in the second and
- 36:44Speaker 5: third all the time.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah, Skataboo worries me about longevity. You know, the way
- 36:50Speaker 4: he plays and how hard he plays, well.
- 36:52Speaker 2: He's not going to get the reps he gets in
- 36:54Speaker 2: college here.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Yeah, but the amount of contact that he takes.
- 36:57Speaker 5: On he doesn't avoid contact, would worry me.
- 37:00Speaker 2: But small shelf life. We need that toughness.
- 37:04Speaker 4: That that game against that game against Texas.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Paul doesn't like toughness lest grace in eliteness. Yeah, that
- 37:13Speaker 2: wins until you get hit in the mouth and then
- 37:17Speaker 2: grace goes down the tubes. Speed, speed in size sp
- 37:21Speaker 2: is good. Taekwon Thornton. No oh, he wasn't speedy. He
- 37:24Speaker 2: wasn't good, okay, but he was fast so fast alone, doesn't.
- 37:28Speaker 5: You know what you guys all told me he was fast.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I gotta be honest with you. And I never saw
- 37:32Speaker 5: that manifested on the field he was fast. I never
- 37:35Speaker 5: saw him look fast on the field. I never saw
- 37:37Speaker 5: him run behind guys on the field.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Fast correct, and that's not fast, And there's a difference.
- 37:42Speaker 5: I don't care about track and field. I care about football.
- 37:45Speaker 5: And I never saw the speed that you guys told
- 37:47Speaker 5: me about that Mac Road. You'll get us Mac Rove
- 37:50Speaker 5: mac grobe.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Remember when he figured I think it was actually you,
- 37:53Speaker 2: wasn't it you? That he was sort of teasing.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Probably want.
- 38:00Speaker 2: It?
- 38:00Speaker 4: It was before you.
- 38:01Speaker 2: And didn't he wasn't it you that asked a question
- 38:03Speaker 2: about it might not?
- 38:04Speaker 4: I don't. I don't remembers. I don't want to say
- 38:06Speaker 4: it was me, but I think it was.
- 38:08Speaker 5: And he said, you know, you're really grinding the tape
- 38:10Speaker 5: on that one, like he was being sucked.
- 38:12Speaker 4: He was being discri actually probably. Yeah, So I never
- 38:18Speaker 4: saw it.
- 38:19Speaker 5: I never saw that football speed that we were talking about.
- 38:22Speaker 8: It.
- 38:22Speaker 4: He was not football fast. And I think that that
- 38:25Speaker 4: was a good lesson for for everybody, myself included, when
- 38:29Speaker 4: watching a lot of these guys. You know, there are
- 38:30Speaker 4: guys that are football fast and there are guys that
- 38:32Speaker 4: are track fast.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Also, a guy that has to run around in the
- 38:35Speaker 2: shower to get wet might be a little bit fragile.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Right yeah, yeah, fair point too. But I think, you know,
- 38:40Speaker 2: but can't we have a little bit of everything, Like.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Can I get some can we get some some speed
- 38:44Speaker 5: and athleticism and big playability and you know.
- 38:48Speaker 2: You know, sure get some power.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, like the Eagles, you know, they're great
- 38:51Speaker 5: on both sides of the line.
- 38:52Speaker 2: You know, they have more than their share of power.
- 38:55Speaker 5: But they also have a j Brown and DeVante Smith
- 38:58Speaker 5: and I think Dallas Goddard is a very underrated athletic
- 39:01Speaker 5: tight end. Saquon Barkley. I mean these guys are elad
- 39:05Speaker 5: athletes too.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you hear a lot more nowadays. Play
- 39:09Speaker 4: speed like that's like a new kind of buzzword, is like,
- 39:13Speaker 4: you know, what's his play speed? Because we have all
- 39:15Speaker 4: this JPS tracking data and on top of that, you're
- 39:17Speaker 4: just you want to see if the guy's actually football fast.
- 39:20Speaker 4: You know, I don't really care if you're in the
- 39:21Speaker 4: four two eight anymore. So that there's a lot more
- 39:25Speaker 4: of that going.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Fred wants to bring Toby Gerhat back. Oh, I like hot, Yeah,
- 39:31Speaker 2: not a bad scataboo come, speaking of speed and power,
- 39:35Speaker 2: if I was inclined to go that way Astroon Genty,
- 39:38Speaker 2: I would. He's an impressive specimen.
- 39:44Speaker 4: I guess his.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Deuce has already got your beat on that one. Yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 2: he's an impressive specimen.
- 39:48Speaker 4: He's very good.
- 39:49Speaker 2: He saw that pro day with his shirt off and
- 39:52Speaker 2: he's like.
- 39:53Speaker 4: My gosh, what's he's sculpted.
- 39:56Speaker 2: He is something. Yeah, I mean, you know, like he's
- 39:59Speaker 2: a big guy. Like I think he's only like five
- 40:02Speaker 2: eight five nine, five eight, but he's thick five eight,
- 40:07Speaker 2: thick is fifteen, all muscle, all muscle, those tree trunks
- 40:12Speaker 2: and holy crap. Yeah no, I mean he's he's somebody's
- 40:16Speaker 2: gonna get themselves a good player when they speak him.
- 40:21Speaker 5: But you don't want it because there's no safety net
- 40:23Speaker 5: if he's you know, it's just not a great running back.
- 40:25Speaker 2: There's nothing else for him to do, so you don't
- 40:26Speaker 2: want I think he might be the one exception. I
- 40:28Speaker 2: think he's gonna be good. That was snarky. I know
- 40:31Speaker 2: it's fair enough, but I think I think whoever picks him,
- 40:35Speaker 2: I think they're gonna get good value.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, well that's the question.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I'm with Evan on running backs.
- 40:40Speaker 4: The word is value. But it's hard if you draft
- 40:43Speaker 4: him that early. And he's Bjon Robinson, who's a really
- 40:46Speaker 4: good running back. But like, what has that really led
- 40:49Speaker 4: to for Atlanta? Like it hasn't turned Atlanta around that
- 40:52Speaker 4: they have a really talented running back. And I actually,
- 40:55Speaker 4: you know, Bijeon was bigger in.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Barkley Barkley was a top five pick right and overall, and.
- 41:02Speaker 2: You got hurt a lot though with the g Well,
- 41:04Speaker 2: that's part of it.
- 41:04Speaker 5: I know at that position, that's that's going to happen.
- 41:08Speaker 5: And you know, Christian McCaffrey with the Panthers, like, there's
- 41:14Speaker 5: only so much you can do. But I do understand that,
- 41:19Speaker 5: you know, people push back. You know, the guys that
- 41:20Speaker 5: defend the running backs push back against against our types
- 41:24Speaker 5: Evan and I and you know Felger is also in
- 41:27Speaker 5: our in our class with that.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Isn't that that the same for any position? I mean,
- 41:32Speaker 2: if you have this.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Great wide receiver on the outside, but you don't have
- 41:35Speaker 5: any way to get them the ball, right, I mean,
- 41:37Speaker 5: what good is it? You know, Malik Neighbors was as
- 41:39Speaker 5: good as any rookie wide receiver last year, but the
- 41:41Speaker 5: Giants stunk.
- 41:43Speaker 2: They didn't have the rest. So if it's not quarterback,
- 41:45Speaker 2: the other pieces put you over the top. They you know,
- 41:48Speaker 2: but you got to have the quarterback. You've got to
- 41:50Speaker 2: have good quarterback play in.
- 41:51Speaker 4: This Well, that's what it might separate the Patriots from
- 41:54Speaker 4: the Giants and the Carolina Panthers. And of those two,
- 41:59Speaker 4: they have the quarterback, we think, but they have a
- 42:02Speaker 4: talented young quarterback. I just think the biggest thing with
- 42:06Speaker 4: Genty is, besides the running back value conversation, is he
- 42:10Speaker 4: carried the ball seven hundred and fifty times in college,
- 42:13Speaker 4: Like he was the Boise State offense. You know, they literally,
- 42:17Speaker 4: you know, gave him the ball in every way possible.
- 42:19Speaker 4: So yeah, the way I look at his career path
- 42:22Speaker 4: could be very similar to somebody like Zeke Elliott, who
- 42:25Speaker 4: was really really good out of the gate, you know,
- 42:28Speaker 4: had a really strong rookie contract and then just has
- 42:31Speaker 4: started to tail off almost completely. At this point, how
- 42:34Speaker 4: long are you going to have peak Ashton Genty based
- 42:38Speaker 4: off of all of that?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah, not everyone's Curtis Martin. You know that can last
- 42:42Speaker 2: for a good point for EMMITTT. Smith. Yeah, all right,
- 42:46Speaker 2: eight five to five Pats five hundred is the hot line.
- 42:50Speaker 2: We don't have a Do we have a sponsor for
- 42:51Speaker 2: the hotline yet? Nope, We're still We're still calling a
- 42:55Speaker 2: Patriots houtline. All right, today's April First? Has any been
- 43:00Speaker 2: any April Fools jokes?
- 43:03Speaker 4: Tiger Woods had a good one. He said he was
- 43:05Speaker 4: going to play in the Masters.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and then he said, April fools. Yeah, oh
- 43:09Speaker 2: big head. Text me and Paul when uh Ourcell's announcement, King,
- 43:14Speaker 2: is this an April Fools joke? How cool would that
- 43:17Speaker 2: have to be to make that an April Fool's joke
- 43:19Speaker 2: that Robert like, we would get all kinds of criticism.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, I mean that even I would say
- 43:26Speaker 2: that's that's too cruel. You know anyway today, Oh April Fools,
- 43:35Speaker 2: that's pretty cruel at that age. Wo yayh that's hardcore.
- 43:40Speaker 2: All right, let's get to the hotline. We'll start with
- 43:43Speaker 2: Sam in North Carolina. Hey Sam, Sam? Oh there he is?
- 43:51Speaker 2: What's up, Sam?
- 43:53Speaker 8: What's going on? Guys? I just want to say that
- 43:56Speaker 8: I think Parter fall into us or towards the Travis
- 43:59Speaker 8: Hunter becomes more and more relistic. I think Cleveland might
- 44:02Speaker 8: take Shador number two. It's really my dream. I'd like
- 44:06Speaker 8: to have that quarter and then do the trade up
- 44:08Speaker 8: thing like Laaren talks about and come back get ersty
- 44:12Speaker 8: or kan.
- 44:13Speaker 2: So what makes you think that they'll take your door?
- 44:16Speaker 2: Have you any information that you've come across or is
- 44:18Speaker 2: it just a gut feeling.
- 44:21Speaker 8: I mean, right now, they don't have any starting quarterback.
- 44:23Speaker 8: You've got Key small hand King and you got de
- 44:27Speaker 8: Shaun Watson that ain't even going to play just towards Karvy, right,
- 44:30Speaker 8: But I mean they need a quarterback.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean I think, all right, I don't
- 44:39Speaker 2: kind of a weird connection.
- 44:40Speaker 5: But thanks Sam, I don't see much of a chance
- 44:42Speaker 5: of that. And I'm just going by the scuttle. But
- 44:46Speaker 5: that has been going on for what two maybe three
- 44:49Speaker 5: weeks Now it seems like it's a done deal with
- 44:52Speaker 5: him in Kirk Cleveland and Kirk Cousins. Now you might say,
- 44:55Speaker 5: why are they gonna after the year that Kirk Cousins
- 44:58Speaker 5: had last year, why would they want him? Fair point,
- 45:00Speaker 5: fair argument, But that's what it seems like it's going to. Personally,
- 45:04Speaker 5: I would rather run it with Kenny Pickett than draft
- 45:08Speaker 5: shod with Sanders at two. Like, I don't really see
- 45:12Speaker 5: much of it.
- 45:13Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:14Speaker 5: It's not like you're passing on one of the guys
- 45:18Speaker 5: last year in the top three, Drake May, and you're
- 45:21Speaker 5: gonna say, oh, we're good, we got Kenny Pickett. There's
- 45:23Speaker 5: a lot of questions about you doing was this whole.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Thing with Deshaun Watson trade and Dak Prescott was that
- 45:28Speaker 2: all bs, Yes, so there was nothing to.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, Dak Prescott actually has a no trade cause, so
- 45:34Speaker 4: it would be that. Yeah, okay, But Kirk Cousins in Cleveland,
- 45:39Speaker 4: it seems like that's gonna happen post draft.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Maybe it sounds like, Yeah, I guess Cousins is adamant
- 45:45Speaker 5: that he does not want to He won't agree to
- 45:47Speaker 5: a deal until after the draft. Yeah, because he doesn't
- 45:50Speaker 5: want to get Michael Pennix again.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Jimmy Haslam was quoted, Yeah, last week is saying, and
- 45:54Speaker 2: we really screwed up.
- 45:55Speaker 5: That's accountability. Yeah, I mean, I know, but small solace
- 45:59Speaker 5: for Cleveland fans.
- 45:59Speaker 2: But he could have listened to a million people before
- 46:02Speaker 2: and avoided that. So, you know, I just think the
- 46:05Speaker 2: contract was I'm'm getting the player. It was the contract.
- 46:10Speaker 5: But I've heard a ton of criticism forgetting the player,
- 46:13Speaker 5: and I don't get that.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Oh no, no, other than the fact that he's.
- 46:15Speaker 5: A you know, off field stuff, right, you know, like
- 46:18Speaker 5: that's a different argument. But like the problem to me
- 46:20Speaker 5: is you're giving a guy with all kinds of off
- 46:24Speaker 5: field issues a guarantee, a fully guaranteed contract that made
- 46:27Speaker 5: no sense. But who thought that the Houston version of
- 46:31Speaker 5: Jashaun Watson was done, right, I mean I didn't.
- 46:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't know, Yeah, yeah, I think you know.
- 46:37Speaker 2: It was the contract. It was ridiculous.
- 46:39Speaker 4: Right with the Browns and with quarterbacks, there's a school
- 46:43Speaker 4: thought that, you know, Kirk Cousins is obviously the guy.
- 46:46Speaker 4: But if you signed Kirk Cousins and then you draft
- 46:50Speaker 4: a quarterback, well, you know, why can't you do that? Right?
- 46:52Speaker 4: Why can't you do both? But I look at it
- 46:55Speaker 4: and say, the Giants, the Browns, if you know, the Jets,
- 46:59Speaker 4: even the Raiders, like I think they're buying time for
- 47:03Speaker 4: a better quarterback class.
- 47:04Speaker 2: I agree, I look at it that way. But what
- 47:07Speaker 2: nobody's doing right?
- 47:08Speaker 5: You know, I think if anybody and I think you
- 47:11Speaker 5: made this point last week, Ev and I agreed to
- 47:13Speaker 5: one thousand percent. If if you just go by what
- 47:16Speaker 5: everybody's doing, it seems like there's nobody convinced that she
- 47:19Speaker 5: Dous Sanders is the answer, right, because they're all going
- 47:23Speaker 5: out of their way to make signings that if you
- 47:25Speaker 5: liked Sanders, would seem to me to be you know, unnecessary.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Yep, why would you take two guys? Cleveland?
- 47:32Speaker 5: Why are you going to take two guys and then
- 47:36Speaker 5: if you planned on drafting again, it makes no sense
- 47:38Speaker 5: to me.
- 47:38Speaker 2: All right on the phone from Florida, the Breakers resort
- 47:43Speaker 2: is deuce, deuce. What's up? Hey, guys, are good? Did
- 47:47Speaker 2: you get your eyesight back yet?
- 47:49Speaker 11: No?
- 47:49Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 47:51Speaker 4: Leave me around.
- 47:51Speaker 11: I got my cane out, so yes, I am blind
- 47:54Speaker 11: here in Florida. Yeah, but at least it's sunny from
- 47:56Speaker 11: what they tell me.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Okay, that's good. Good job yesterday. A lot of stuff
- 48:00Speaker 2: to talk about. What's on the what's your headline that
- 48:03Speaker 2: you want to bring to us?
- 48:05Speaker 11: Oh, I mean we're fresh off of the Bill Parcells announcement,
- 48:09Speaker 11: So that's I think most interesting today. I found myself
- 48:13Speaker 11: going back to my old past propaganda blog, and in
- 48:16Speaker 11: twenty fifteen I was against ourselves going in. But I
- 48:20Speaker 11: think I've evolved a little bit and I'm kind of
- 48:24Speaker 11: good with it. I know I heard listened to the
- 48:25Speaker 11: beginning of the show. I know you guys are a
- 48:27Speaker 11: little bit divided. We've talked about this before, but I
- 48:31Speaker 11: just think when you look back he and for me personally,
- 48:34Speaker 11: I just I can't ignore his hire and change this
- 48:37Speaker 11: whole franchise. It went from not to feel like we're
- 48:39Speaker 11: the NFL to you were in the NFL drafted a
- 48:43Speaker 11: bunch of great players that were foundational pieces for championships,
- 48:47Speaker 11: and I think it's the right move at this time.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Okay, all right, what else? So we haven't really got
- 48:54Speaker 2: into the rule change. We're waiting for us, We're waiting
- 48:58Speaker 2: for you to talk about him. So why did you
- 49:00Speaker 2: talk about some of the more major rule changes that
- 49:04Speaker 2: we'll look forward to this year?
- 49:06Speaker 11: Yeah, just a couple that stood out to me. The
- 49:08Speaker 11: overtime rules now will match what they were in overtime,
- 49:12Speaker 11: But listening to Rich McKay talk about why they shifted
- 49:15Speaker 11: it to ten minutes, putting more of time crunch on
- 49:20Speaker 11: the teams in overtime, they felt like if they kept
- 49:22Speaker 11: it at fifteen minutes for the overtime period with both
- 49:24Speaker 11: teams getting the ball, that teams will be tempted to
- 49:28Speaker 11: defer again and not take the ball immediately. They felt like,
- 49:31Speaker 11: statistically putting it at ten minutes, you want the ball,
- 49:35Speaker 11: You're not going to have enough time. Probably you want
- 49:37Speaker 11: to try to run the clock out. If if they
- 49:39Speaker 11: said the average drive time was five minutes, so that
- 49:42Speaker 11: was interesting to me. I know they did some research
- 49:44Speaker 11: on that, and then of course, you know, change in
- 49:46Speaker 11: the yard line to the thirty five, moving that out
- 49:49Speaker 11: a little bit, I think, just to encourage more kickoffs,
- 49:51Speaker 11: you know, more returns, and those are the two big
- 49:55Speaker 11: pieces so far. Was waiting to see on the Tush push,
- 49:58Speaker 11: but it sounds like they've punted that one to May.
- 50:00Speaker 11: But it does seem like there's a lot of good
- 50:01Speaker 11: discussion going on about that, and there's a lot of
- 50:04Speaker 11: people passionately for it, passionately against it. So it'll be
- 50:07Speaker 11: interesting to see where that where that goes down the road.
- 50:09Speaker 2: What about the increase in UH review assistance, They changed
- 50:16Speaker 2: that a little replay assist replay assist.
- 50:19Speaker 11: Oh, I haven't seen the discussion on that one yet,
- 50:22Speaker 11: so how can you get back to you on that
- 50:24Speaker 11: piece of it. I did see some of the you know,
- 50:26Speaker 11: taunting penalties. They've increased those. I think that was a
- 50:29Speaker 11: big topic to discussion today. Of course, you guys know
- 50:32Speaker 11: me love.
- 50:33Speaker 5: The fun, so yeah, you want more of those penalties.
- 50:37Speaker 5: I can tell were you at the press conference or
- 50:41Speaker 5: I'm not sure how you know how that information was
- 50:44Speaker 5: delivered there?
- 50:46Speaker 2: The Rich McKay comment that you made about did.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Anybody ask a follow up is like, why would you
- 50:52Speaker 5: care who what the coin toss winner does?
- 50:56Speaker 2: Why? Why we why are we anti deferring?
- 50:59Speaker 5: I don't really to stand that being part of the
- 51:02Speaker 5: the decision making on overtime, we're trying to discourage teams
- 51:06Speaker 5: from deferring. What was the reason rationale behind that?
- 51:10Speaker 11: Yeah, that question, that follow up was not asked within
- 51:14Speaker 11: the meeting.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I mean, what happens.
- 51:15Speaker 11: There were some questions, but that one specifically wasn't answer.
- 51:18Speaker 11: I mean, that's a good question, Paul, You're always you're
- 51:20Speaker 11: always sharp on these things.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:22Speaker 5: I mean, like you know, Evan and I were talking
- 51:24Speaker 5: as we came induce. You know, I kind of think
- 51:28Speaker 5: that the reason that they kept it at ten, and
- 51:30Speaker 5: Evan made this point is TV and I just don't
- 51:34Speaker 5: like that idea, but like they want to keep it
- 51:36Speaker 5: in as close to the windows as they can, you know,
- 51:40Speaker 5: for the networks, you know, one to you know, four
- 51:43Speaker 5: to twenty.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Five or whatever it is. You know, you have a.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Better chance obviously if it's only a ten minute overtime
- 51:48Speaker 5: then then going to fifteen. I just don't I can't,
- 51:50Speaker 5: for the life of me figure out why the league
- 51:52Speaker 5: would care what a team opts to do whether they
- 51:55Speaker 5: win the coin toimes.
- 51:56Speaker 2: So I think, but see if in it they're worried
- 51:58Speaker 2: about the window, wouldn't fifteen minutes increase the odds that
- 52:03Speaker 2: by the end of fifteen there's a result rather than
- 52:06Speaker 2: we're still tied.
- 52:07Speaker 5: So I think you're going to open the door for
- 52:08Speaker 5: more ties by doing it this way.
- 52:10Speaker 2: So now both yet I think, yeah, both set the
- 52:12Speaker 2: ball exactly.
- 52:13Speaker 5: And is I think if you if you keep it
- 52:15Speaker 5: at ten and the game doesn't end on the first touchdown,
- 52:19Speaker 5: I think you have a chance, a much bigger chance
- 52:22Speaker 5: for ties.
- 52:22Speaker 2: And I don't think anybody wants to ties.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Do so I don't want to put words in your wrap,
- 52:26Speaker 4: but I think he's saying is that the team that
- 52:29Speaker 4: possesses the ball first, there wouldn't be as much urgency
- 52:33Speaker 4: to move the football because you're trying to kill clock, right,
- 52:36Speaker 4: So like that's what they were trying to avoid, was
- 52:40Speaker 4: like they want they don't want teams sitting on the ball,
- 52:42Speaker 4: you know, so in a ten minute overtime, like maybe
- 52:44Speaker 4: there would be a little bit more Well.
- 52:46Speaker 5: I think it increases the chance.
- 52:48Speaker 4: I do too, but I feel like that's the answer
- 52:50Speaker 4: that they're giving is they don't want they want there
- 52:54Speaker 4: to there's to be an urgency to.
- 52:56Speaker 5: I don't know because I didn't see it. I just
- 52:58Speaker 5: like du said, mentioned that that was the which McKay
- 53:00Speaker 5: comment that they're trying to discourage teams from deferring in overtime,
- 53:05Speaker 5: and I just don't understand, and I don't understand even
- 53:08Speaker 5: whatever was saying that. If that's what he meant, I
- 53:12Speaker 5: think teams now have a chance. I saw Albert Breer
- 53:15Speaker 5: earlier tweeted this. You get the ball to start overtime
- 53:18Speaker 5: and the other team can can match you. You want
- 53:21Speaker 5: to score and take up as much time as you can, right,
- 53:24Speaker 5: So I'm going to go in my four minute offense,
- 53:26Speaker 5: I'm going to try to go out and score while
- 53:29Speaker 5: being cognizant of chewing clock, right, and if I can
- 53:33Speaker 5: go on an eight minute touchdown drive, which is not
- 53:35Speaker 5: abnormal at all, now, I really put the other team
- 53:37Speaker 5: behind the eight ball.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, now I will say that strategy wise, I agree,
- 53:41Speaker 2: and strategy wise, with ten minutes, you know, I do
- 53:45Speaker 2: want to get the ball first because I don't know
- 53:47Speaker 2: if I'm probably never going to get it back again,
- 53:49Speaker 2: So I would want the ball first regardless. Yeah, well overtime,
- 53:52Speaker 2: well I would too, even if it's fifteen minutes, there
- 53:56Speaker 2: might be three possessions. If I can get two of them,
- 53:59Speaker 2: I want that right.
- 54:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Now, I know, like.
- 54:02Speaker 4: You know, the nerds are going to be crunching these numbers.
- 54:04Speaker 2: With unlimited time.
- 54:06Speaker 5: You could make an argument for deferring, like I think
- 54:08Speaker 5: it happened in the Super Bowl, like the San Francisco,
- 54:10Speaker 5: Kansas City like that to me, like, there's no time.
- 54:13Speaker 5: I'm not worried about the end of the quarter, you
- 54:16Speaker 5: know what I mean? Yeah, so that that would be
- 54:18Speaker 5: a little bit different.
- 54:19Speaker 4: But can we ask Deuce the important questions now?
- 54:22Speaker 2: Sure?
- 54:22Speaker 4: So, Deuce, have you had the party yet? I know
- 54:25Speaker 4: there's always a party.
- 54:27Speaker 11: Oh, there's there's some good tidbits from the party. Unfortunately,
- 54:30Speaker 11: it was a little bit marred by inclement weather and
- 54:33Speaker 11: we were outside to begin and then the lightning started striking,
- 54:36Speaker 11: so they had to move some of it inside, but
- 54:39Speaker 11: too highlights to share with you guys, the first one
- 54:42Speaker 11: being Serena Williams was there, who you know, pretty cool,
- 54:44Speaker 11: all that athlete, kind of kind of fun to see
- 54:47Speaker 11: her there. And then a little bit of a story
- 54:50Speaker 11: so we're getting ready to wrap up the night, and
- 54:53Speaker 11: you know, Matt Smith was saying, maybe we should sneak
- 54:55Speaker 11: out the back, and I said, now, you know, let's
- 54:56Speaker 11: just walk out the front. So as we're walking out
- 54:59Speaker 11: the front, I lay eyes on some spiky bleached hair,
- 55:04Speaker 11: a longer go tea, some sunglasses, and I said, oh
- 55:08Speaker 11: my god, it's one of Massimith's personal heroes, Guy Fieri
- 55:11Speaker 11: in the flesh here at the NFL Owners Meeting party.
- 55:16Speaker 11: So I I, you know, I know that this is
- 55:17Speaker 11: going to go over gread.
- 55:18Speaker 2: I look at.
- 55:20Speaker 11: I said, Matt, Guy Fieri is here. He was very excited.
- 55:24Speaker 11: He went over there, uh talk.
- 55:27Speaker 2: You know.
- 55:27Speaker 11: I got a little video of him like standing in line,
- 55:30Speaker 11: not in line, but just kind of getting his way
- 55:33Speaker 11: into the into the little group that that Guy Fiery
- 55:35Speaker 11: was with. Uh, and then had a nice conversation with him,
- 55:39Speaker 11: told him how much he appreciates Guy Theeryra Cannatcho.
- 55:42Speaker 9: Uh.
- 55:43Speaker 11: Guy Fiery very gracious. And then as Matt was after
- 55:47Speaker 11: they after they stopped speaking, that was stop briefly at
- 55:50Speaker 11: Nick Ksia's wife to say hello, and Guy Fiery came
- 55:54Speaker 11: walking by and gave out a big pat on the
- 55:56Speaker 11: bag and like, all right, buddy, I have a good one.
- 55:58Speaker 11: So Matt was on cloud nine.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Wow, So deuce in terms of in terms of overall excitement,
- 56:04Speaker 5: the excitement level on a scale of Matt meeting Guy
- 56:10Speaker 5: Fieri and you looking long only at Mike Rabel when
- 56:13Speaker 5: he's talking, where would you put?
- 56:15Speaker 2: Where would you put? Matt?
- 56:17Speaker 11: I got to get Mat the edge on that one.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know about that.
- 56:22Speaker 11: I'm always acutely where But look, Mike Rabel makes jokes.
- 56:24Speaker 11: You guys know me. I'm a laugher, I'm a smiler,
- 56:27Speaker 11: so they could audience, you know, Mike, Mike. Mike Rabel
- 56:31Speaker 11: starts flaming Felger about playing tight end and dropping the
- 56:34Speaker 11: ball in his last game and constantly team to win,
- 56:37Speaker 11: which I found delightful. Uh. And so of course I
- 56:40Speaker 11: get clicked with the pick, smiling and laughing at the
- 56:42Speaker 11: joke as everyone else was. But it seems like I'm
- 56:44Speaker 11: just getting there like a big idiot with a dumb
- 56:46Speaker 11: smile on my face and everything.
- 56:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:49Speaker 4: Well no, yeah, that would be after it de sa
- 56:53Speaker 4: I have you know, I get fomo about the owner's
- 56:56Speaker 4: meetings not being there with you, so you know, how's
- 56:58Speaker 4: the media doing, you know, how has what's the temperature
- 57:01Speaker 4: right now?
- 57:02Speaker 2: Good question, yeah, mood, question mood mood.
- 57:06Speaker 11: I would say it's a pretty good mood. I think
- 57:07Speaker 11: everyone's pretty excited, you know, to be in some warm
- 57:10Speaker 11: weather right now. Uh So that was overall the biggest
- 57:14Speaker 11: thing for me. A little bit of a scramble this
- 57:17Speaker 11: morning doing r kk's interview. We had a location we
- 57:20Speaker 11: had to move, so we were a little bit of
- 57:21Speaker 11: a scramble going on this morning, but didn't didn't see
- 57:26Speaker 11: many of the media out party and too hard last night.
- 57:29Speaker 11: It was pretty low key affair compared to some of
- 57:31Speaker 11: the owner's meetings. Wild maybe because it was inside, but
- 57:36Speaker 11: it was a little bit more crowded, a little harder
- 57:38Speaker 11: to get food and drinks and stuff. So I think
- 57:40Speaker 11: everybody usually carved out a spot on a couch or
- 57:43Speaker 11: table and kind of held their own area like that.
- 57:46Speaker 11: So nothing, nothing too crazy. Everybody's here and you know,
- 57:50Speaker 11: excited talk to Brabel and the good stuff yesterday from
- 57:52Speaker 11: him and then again today with r KK and the
- 57:55Speaker 11: Brave and the Parcels news.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Knowing how ultra competitive the media is is there starting
- 58:01Speaker 2: to be a little bit of resentment towards Karen her
- 58:04Speaker 2: preferential treatment. I hope not, but are you know some
- 58:08Speaker 2: of the guys starting to, like, you know, not treat
- 58:11Speaker 2: her the same.
- 58:12Speaker 4: Like why does she always get the first question?
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Helen, Helen Thomas, Yeah, yeah, I.
- 58:18Speaker 11: Think they're I think they're following Rabel's leads from that
- 58:21Speaker 11: initial press conference that he uh that he had where
- 58:24Speaker 11: he called you know that I would have called on
- 58:26Speaker 11: Karen first, and so they're a little bit deferring to her.
- 58:29Speaker 11: But you know, we tried to stay for a seat
- 58:30Speaker 11: at the table. She's an established member.
- 58:32Speaker 2: So I mean, I think she deserves good for her.
- 58:34Speaker 11: But I think it's funny. I think. I don't know
- 58:36Speaker 11: if you guys watched it, but Rabel said, I'm not
- 58:39Speaker 11: finish yet. You're kind of joking with her a little bit,
- 58:41Speaker 11: so he was. He was having some fun with her too,
- 58:43Speaker 11: and you know, good questions there's always from Karen, So
- 58:46Speaker 11: no resentment yet. I don't know how you could present Karen.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Well, you know, but these guys are they're very very competitive.
- 58:52Speaker 2: I would I almost I wish they would show it
- 58:54Speaker 2: on how they covered the team. WHOA.
- 58:56Speaker 4: I'm only starting to feel going to Glass right over
- 58:58Speaker 4: that I'm honest to feel dad for Karen because now
- 59:01Speaker 4: you have to have a question because you.
- 59:03Speaker 5: Know that he be read and he does it every time.
- 59:06Speaker 5: He's like he's Karen and she's like, oh, I guess
- 59:09Speaker 5: I'm up.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, you gotta now every press conference, like during
- 59:13Speaker 4: the season, we talked to him three four times a week,
- 59:16Speaker 4: So now is she gonna have to have a question
- 59:18Speaker 4: every single.
- 59:18Speaker 2: I would be yeah, that'd be a lot of pressure
- 59:20Speaker 2: at that.
- 59:21Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 59:21Speaker 2: All right, Mike, anything else before we let you go?
- 59:23Speaker 2: Is it lunchtime? There? Are you gonna eat?
- 59:26Speaker 11: Yeah, we just grab some food and we're getting ready
- 59:29Speaker 11: to head down to Fort Lauderdale to catch our flight back.
- 59:31Speaker 11: So I'll be back in the office tomorrow. Looking forward
- 59:34Speaker 11: to seeing you guys, getting back on the show. It's
- 59:35Speaker 11: been a quick trip, but good one as always. And
- 59:38Speaker 11: uh yeah, different, you know, just different vibe. I would
- 59:41Speaker 11: say you can feel. I mean it's kind of cliche,
- 59:44Speaker 11: but I think the excitement around the team, it just
- 59:47Speaker 11: feels like a renewed sense of energy. You heard Able
- 59:49Speaker 11: talk about it, you heard Robert talk a little bit
- 59:51Speaker 11: about it today. I think those things are continuing to happen,
- 59:55Speaker 11: and I think we're all getting excited to see what happens.
- 59:57Speaker 2: A few weeks in the draft sounds good? All right, Dost,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: we'll see you tomorrow.
- 1:00:01Speaker 11: I gay you are.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Safe travels.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: You hung up on you, You hung up safe travels, Michael.

- 1:01:56Speaker 13: Exclusions apply, like on the young receivers has talked about,
- 1:02:00Speaker 13: and also the offense right with Josh.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: You know that offense. You saw it for years with
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: Tom Van.
- 1:02:06Speaker 13: It's been difficult for receivers, young receivers to be able
- 1:02:08Speaker 13: to pick it up with the side adjustments and some
- 1:02:10Speaker 13: of the other stuff. So how close is this offense
- 1:02:13Speaker 13: that Josh is gonna run gonna be to what he
- 1:02:15Speaker 13: ran when Brady was there?
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Or will you make changes to me?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Be changes?
- 1:02:20Speaker 14: There has to be changes, right, you know, there has
- 1:02:23Speaker 14: to be We have to start somewhere, and uh, you know,
- 1:02:27Speaker 14: to say that that Drake is gonna be, you know,
- 1:02:32Speaker 14: similar to somebody else in this system after five or
- 1:02:34Speaker 14: six years, I don't think that that's fair to say. So,
- 1:02:37Speaker 14: you know, we're gonna start with a foundation and those
- 1:02:40Speaker 14: are the most important things, and building and making sure
- 1:02:42Speaker 14: that the receivers. We're not just gonna go past something
- 1:02:47Speaker 14: because it says it on a schedule like the if
- 1:02:50Speaker 14: it takes us an extra day, then it takes us
- 1:02:53Speaker 14: an extra day. If it takes us an extra week
- 1:02:55Speaker 14: to get the first couple of installs in, then that's
- 1:02:57Speaker 14: what it's gonna take. We're not just gonna gloss over
- 1:03:00Speaker 14: things we believe strongly and teaching and helping those players
- 1:03:05Speaker 14: and figuring out how they learn best and making sure
- 1:03:08Speaker 14: that we're doing everything we can to give them a
- 1:03:11Speaker 14: chance to help themselves.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: Mike, Joe Milton.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: I'm just curious your thoughts on him and if there's
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: any sense from conversations with other teams that you might
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: have an asset there that could have value to you know,
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: and discusting any potential discussions with other teams.
- 1:03:27Speaker 14: Yeah, I think Joe's did everything that they asked them
- 1:03:32Speaker 14: to do last year. It sounds like in conversations that
- 1:03:36Speaker 14: he worked extremely hard, and that's tough when you're quarterback.
- 1:03:41Speaker 14: Everybody wants to play, everybody wants to be the starter
- 1:03:44Speaker 14: everybody and that's great to have that attitude. And he
- 1:03:48Speaker 14: was ready for his opportunity there late in the season,
- 1:03:51Speaker 14: which I commend him on just like I would any
- 1:03:54Speaker 14: player that sat there and went through a long season,
- 1:03:57Speaker 14: a difficult season, and then got the opportunity, went out,
- 1:04:00Speaker 14: won a football game, played well, helped his team win,
- 1:04:04Speaker 14: and then you know where that leads to. We'll see
- 1:04:07Speaker 14: as the draft approaches or you know where where Joe
- 1:04:11Speaker 14: is on April seventh to start our offseason program. But
- 1:04:14Speaker 14: you know, you have to give Joe credit for being
- 1:04:16Speaker 14: ready to go with going from the third quarterback to
- 1:04:19Speaker 14: being able to win that football game and stay ready
- 1:04:22Speaker 14: and stay hungry.
- 1:04:24Speaker 11: Well, I love that game.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Your life would be easier for you right now had
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: they lost. Are you happy that they won? Given that
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: as a coach, as a.
- 1:04:33Speaker 14: Player, yeah, I mean it's a difficult season. You know,
- 1:04:37Speaker 14: you want to compete and fight that those players out
- 1:04:40Speaker 14: there were doing everything that they could to win a
- 1:04:42Speaker 14: football game, and I think that's the mentality. That's the
- 1:04:44Speaker 14: environment that you want to create. So to say that
- 1:04:47Speaker 14: there's any other reason, I think that that's that's not
- 1:04:51Speaker 14: what you want to create. And somebody has the first pick,
- 1:04:55Speaker 14: somebody is going to have the second to third. But
- 1:04:58Speaker 14: you know those players, man, it's uh, put yourself in
- 1:05:01Speaker 14: their position like that. To get that opportunity to go
- 1:05:04Speaker 14: out there and play and to compete and put tape
- 1:05:09Speaker 14: out there like that, that's important. That's important for their career.
- 1:05:13Speaker 14: That's important to instill that in a football team. And
- 1:05:16Speaker 14: you know, I don't think you could have it any
- 1:05:17Speaker 14: other way. So I'm proud of all those guys that
- 1:05:19Speaker 14: did that and they fought and they won a football game.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: You guys matched the off sheet on Christian Ellis. Why
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: was that important for you guys to do.
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: Well?
- 1:05:30Speaker 14: And this was a difficult decision. It was one that we,
- 1:05:32Speaker 14: you know, ultimately decided that a young ascending player that
- 1:05:39Speaker 14: has this skill set and speed and you know, feel
- 1:05:42Speaker 14: like he can do a lot of different things for us,
- 1:05:44Speaker 14: and that he's his arrow was up, and that we
- 1:05:47Speaker 14: felt like we wanted to keep him on the roster.
- 1:05:50Speaker 14: So in order to do that, we had to match
- 1:05:53Speaker 14: the offer sheet. And you know, Christian is excited by
- 1:05:56Speaker 14: all accounts to be back. We're excited to have them.
- 1:05:59Speaker 14: You know, this is a player. The more he played,
- 1:06:00Speaker 14: I think, the better that he got. Was very good
- 1:06:04Speaker 14: on third down and fourth down, and then first and
- 1:06:06Speaker 14: second down. The more he played, the better he got
- 1:06:09Speaker 14: off first and second down.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Joint practices the summer anything setting Stone there.
- 1:06:14Speaker 14: Still waiting for the NFL, but have had conversations with Minnesota, Washington.
- 1:06:21Speaker 14: I think would like to come up. We'd love to
- 1:06:24Speaker 14: go to Minnesota if the NFL you know, gives it
- 1:06:26Speaker 14: those opportunities.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Well to Minnesota.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Uh Cheese Kurds.
- 1:06:40Speaker 14: We practiced with them a few years ago in Tennessee.
- 1:06:43Speaker 14: It's a nice setup. They've got a beautiful facility. There's
- 1:06:46Speaker 14: a hotel close by, can walk to the field. You know,
- 1:06:52Speaker 14: just enjoyed working with Kevin and and b flow On
- 1:06:56Speaker 14: in their team.
- 1:07:00Speaker 15: One of the most important things you have to do
- 1:07:02Speaker 15: leading up to the draft for you personally the next
- 1:07:05Speaker 15: four weeks or.
- 1:07:05Speaker 14: So, just have enough exposure with those players in the
- 1:07:09Speaker 14: first few rounds that we see, you know, the top
- 1:07:12Speaker 14: one hundred and one hundred and fifty players that you know.
- 1:07:14Speaker 14: I got to have enough exposure. And our scouting department
- 1:07:18Speaker 14: has done a fantastic job. Our personnel department with you know,
- 1:07:22Speaker 14: Elliott and Ryan and Cam Williams helping a student at macroll,
- 1:07:27Speaker 14: everybody you know, getting out and going different places and
- 1:07:31Speaker 14: bringing guys in on thirty visits and making suggestions like, hey,
- 1:07:35Speaker 14: what do you think about this guy coming in? Let's
- 1:07:37Speaker 14: get some more information on this guy. And so I've
- 1:07:39Speaker 14: loved where the process has been. We worked well through
- 1:07:42Speaker 14: the free agency process and being able to have a plan,
- 1:07:44Speaker 14: being able to pivot off of that move quickly, be decisive.
- 1:07:49Speaker 14: Those were some things that we're really excited about. And
- 1:07:52Speaker 14: I think the balance for me is just making sure
- 1:07:54Speaker 14: that I'm doing everything I can with our current players,
- 1:07:57Speaker 14: but also making sure that stand up on you know,
- 1:08:02Speaker 14: the guys that we may add to our football team doesn't.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Find a running back yet, is that an area like
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: to address in the draft?
- 1:08:09Speaker 14: I mean, I think so having a young, good, young
- 1:08:12Speaker 14: runner something that's potentially something that we would like to do.
- 1:08:15Speaker 14: I thought the guys coming back, you know, I think
- 1:08:18Speaker 14: Remondre and you know, and Gibbe. I think obviously we're
- 1:08:22Speaker 14: a good one to two punch. You know, people are
- 1:08:25Speaker 14: going to talk about Remondre and putting the ball on
- 1:08:27Speaker 14: the ground and he knows that, but we'll help him there.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: And we're also you.
- 1:08:32Speaker 14: Know, we're going to help the other make sure the
- 1:08:34Speaker 14: other ten players know that their job is to protect
- 1:08:36Speaker 14: the guy with the ball as well. You know, there
- 1:08:38Speaker 14: were some opportunities on there for for me to teach
- 1:08:41Speaker 14: the other guys that, you know, that second guy in
- 1:08:44Speaker 14: the guy you don't see is the one that's making
- 1:08:46Speaker 14: the making the making the fumble or causing the fumble.
- 1:08:49Speaker 14: And so it's a great opportunity for me to to
- 1:08:52Speaker 14: show those other players that they're guys, you know, the
- 1:08:54Speaker 14: one coming in there to knock the ball loose. And
- 1:08:57Speaker 14: so is that gonna all be on the running back.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: No, it's going to be on the guy.
- 1:09:01Speaker 14: That's letting his guy get in there and and make
- 1:09:04Speaker 14: make the hits. So those are great opportunities for me,
- 1:09:08Speaker 14: but I won't love to add good young players on
- 1:09:11Speaker 14: offense and skill players.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Was the person.
- 1:09:16Speaker 12: And now great moments in.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: History. But Fred would taste better a tender or a wing.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: A wing if it's done right, because the skin is
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: still on it and it's fried, and you know it's
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: all from one check. I think I think the bone
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: gives an extra flavor. I don't know why. It's the
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: fat from the skin that gives it the slave you know.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: I like bone in but I there's times that, hey,
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: I'm perfectly satisfied with my tenders right, like when we
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: do it right here, right, because I don't want to
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: be eating wings and making a mess as I'm trying
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: to yell at college but telling me that I call
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: Belichick a mediocre coach.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: You know it's on your face, but it's also all
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: in your fingers and experience. So when I wings at home,
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: after it's done, I just put my hand down. My
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: dog cleans my finger, just hangs his hand off the throat.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: You fat bastard, you can't even drop them wash your
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: own hands immediately. He watch the TV. Let the dog
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: do the world.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: Not yet, not you can't.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I'm still working. You know he likes it. You know
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: it's win win for both. The Little Spicy Forms story.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: That's another great moment. All right, you can't sleep until
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: football season starts. Let Bob's Discount Furniture help. Not only
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: do Bob's mattresses have next level sleep tech like breathable

- 1:10:45Speaker 2: lumbar supporting individually wrapped coil system and signature bibble pedic
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: gel memory foam. The Copper Radiance and Treasure were recently

- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Plan your revolutionary weekend at Massachusetts two fifty dot org.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: So there you go. Okay, it's a.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: Good time a year to come to Massachusetts.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: It's always a good time.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: Starting to get a little warmer out.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: Yeah, although it's going to rain a lot this week.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I was trying to sell it.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Got some painting in on Sunday, so that was good.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: What's your pain outside? Some trim sniffs? Yeah, let's go
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: to the hotline. Eldred's on North Carolina. What's up? Eldred? Good?
- 1:11:57Speaker 16: Hey, want to play book?
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: Coming back on?
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: It isn't we've canceled the playbook?
- 1:12:03Speaker 16: Okay, all right, Dan?
- 1:12:05Speaker 11: Yeah, Well two things, Paul, yes, sir.
- 1:12:09Speaker 16: Sep on t mac evan. I love speed too, but
- 1:12:13Speaker 16: he gets ran a four or five in a confine
- 1:12:17Speaker 16: and so they Evan, but it came out better receiver.
- 1:12:20Speaker 16: So it's all how you play. But I think you'd
- 1:12:24Speaker 16: be better with Joe and he will be thick or ten.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Six or ten.
- 1:12:31Speaker 16: Both the guys, yeah, because they got some of the
- 1:12:33Speaker 16: draft got him going away the Daguars and.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: Than yeahs or nine yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, sure, Yeah.
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: I mean I think I think McMillan had a good
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: college career. I'm just not convinced that he's going to
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: be a standout wide receiver. But you're right, there are
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: other guys that were bigger guys that didn't necessarily have
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: blazing speed that have succeeded.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you're you're absolutely right.
- 1:12:58Speaker 16: This we got rid of Bentley. You think the draft
- 1:13:01Speaker 16: with middle lineback in the draft and take it off there.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: I have a good one, all right, thanks we I
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: don't think have we talked about the Bentley release on
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: this show, doesn't I don't believe. I don't think we have.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: On Friday. That took me by surprise. You know, we
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: talk about surprise cuts. To me, that was a surprise cut.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: There's a lot that is being made about the scheme
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: fit and that he wasn't necessarily a scheme fit at
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: his size. But the way I took it and then
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Rabel kind of confirmed this yesterday more or less, is
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: they're kind of looking for a culture reset, Like I
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: think they want new leaders, like they want a new
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: identity of the team and a new culture. And I
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: think part of the one foot in, one foot out
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: the door on the Dynasty, guys like David Andrews, Dietrich Wise,
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Jonathan Jones, Juwan Bentley, like they kind of were always
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: hearkening back to the past with a lot of those
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: guys and this is how he used to do it
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: around here, and I think that Rabel's trying to charge
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: his own course and he kind of got rid of
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: a lot.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: It could be. I mean, that's stuff I'm not aware of.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: But as a player, I thought his size and his
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: style was complimentary to the other guys, like, Okay, he's
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: your big guy, he's your he's your plugger, he's your
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: and you know, then you have your speed guys. And
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: I thought I thought it was a good compliment. Yeah,
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: I mean I was. It was definitely not expected.
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: I would stop short of surprise only because we've been
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: talking a lot all off season. They are gonna be
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: guys that are going to go that you're not expecting.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Just didn't think he'd be one.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: And that's another one. But that's that's what I'm saying,
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: not expecting to go and they're gonna go. I think
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: Godshaw was another one that you know that went. Now
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: Wise and Jones are both free agents, so I think
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: they're a little bit different. But you know, Andrews Bentley Godshaw,
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: I was a little bit surprised by that, and I
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: I would wonder, and you know what everything Evan said.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: You know, there's a lot of talk about that in
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: the in Vrabel's meeting yesterday, in his breakfast, I'm not
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: sure that I agree.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: With that style.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Like I'd never really looked at these these guys in
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: question Bentley specifically as a guy like, well, that's not
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: the way we used to do it. Like he's never
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: struck me as that kind of guy.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Like I said, I maybe this stuff behind that. I
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: He's always struck me as a really really good leader
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: and role model in example.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I don't think that that's not what I was saying. No, no,
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: Putting it on you. I think you're right. I think
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: that's what Mike is doing.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't mean it like he's was like a
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: bad teammate by any means. I just think that, you know,
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: he said it in his introductory press conference, like the
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: six banners are a good reminder, but they're not going
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: to help us right right, And I think that he's
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: trying to turn a new leaf where you know, Girod
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: kind of just almost made an extension of the Belichick.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: He's clearing the way for his guys.
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: And I was like, you know, in fairness, I wasn't
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: in favor of what they did last year either by
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: bringing them all back, but I didn't necessarily see the need.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: To get rid of them all either. Yea.
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: So I mean this is these are not moves that
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: are going to you know, dramatically alter the course. But
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: I do think, you know, it was scheme related in
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: a lot of ways too. I mean, I think clearly
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: they want to be smaller and more you know, more athletic,
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: more mobile at that position.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Elliot Wolf said it yesterday that that he was I
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: think it was. Felger asked him about, you know, how
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: the defense is going to change under label, and he said,
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: not a ton, you know, other than an emphasis at
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: at speed at the linebacker and team speed in general.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: You know, just watching some of the linebackers recently, kind
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: of to Eldred's second question, there's a lot of guys
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: that in this class in particular, it's actually a very
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: good linebacker class. And there's a lot of guys in
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: this class in particular that fit that mold, you know,
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: a little bit undersized, but have great speed, good coverage ability. Right,
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: And my only hesitation is kind of like what Fred
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: was saying, like, don't you have to have one guy
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: that's going to take up some space and it's going
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: to stop the run. Like, you don't want to play
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: two or three guys and everybody is two hundred and
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: twenty pounds, right like, you would probably like to have
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: at least one guy, you know, even if it's just
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: for short yardage and you know, goal line and like
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff that can actually come downhill
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: at the line of scrimmage. You know, there's a lot
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: of you know, Chris Paul juniors and you know, Jeffrey
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Bosses and guys that are great coverage linebackers. But they
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: have a lot of that you know already. They have
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: speed and they have athleticism. So I am wondering where
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: they might find that dumper, if they even care right
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: about finding it.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: This email it doesn't want me to use his name,
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: but he is very, very upset with Robert Kraft. He says,
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: regarding the Parcels induction, I figured we get some of this, Yeah,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: he says, one bypassing voting as Parson been on the ballot,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: but we've never voted him in. He means the fans
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: two Parcels is not as good as both Belichick and
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Chuck Fairbanks. Three. Chuck Fairbanks was a great coach and
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: I for talent. Please remind your audience to some of
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: his draft picks that set up this team with talent.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Even after he left four, Fairbanks had more wins than
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: any other Patriots coach until Belichick by passed him. Fairbanks
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: never had a Belichick with him, as Parcells did for
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: both Giants and Patriots. And Belichick in TB twelve is
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: the foundation for RKK current Foxborough fiefdom. So f and
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: pissed that RKK co opted the Hall of Fame process
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: taking our votes away in inviting Belichick ahead of I
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: mean Parcells, ahead of Belichick and Chuck Fairbanks. Now it's
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: not ahead of it's not ahead of Belichick's not he's
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: not eligible yet. So even you have to be four
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: years retired before you're eligible for the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: So I guarantee when he's eligible, he will get in.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: But a Fairbanks is a fair one.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: Yeah. I wonder you know with Belichick, Let's see he
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: coaches a year at North Carolina and he announces that
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: he's done coaching. Yep, would they bypass the waiting period
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: like they did with Tom Brady?
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: I think they probably should.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they also could. You could just say
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: like two more years and that would be the four years,
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: because I would say last year he was out, this
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: year he's in college, he's not in the NFL. To me,
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: that's two years. Yeah, But I don't know what. I
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: wouldn't be opposed to just waving it altogether.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: The Fairbanks thing, we've We've talked about Fairbanks a lot
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: in the meetings, and there was actually one year that
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: I presented for Chuck Fairbanks, and I would absolutely back
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: up a lot of things. It's funny because I think
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: Evan's going to be bored to tears because this is,
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: you know, before he was even thought of. There's a
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: lot of similar it is between Parcels and Fairbanks. They
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: were both elite talent evaluators. They both drafted exceptionally well.
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: They both basically built teams by themselves in similar situations.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: Everything I said about Parcels inheriting nothing is the same.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: For Chuck Fairbanks.
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: The organization was just in shambles, and then he built
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: the team and also ended up leaving in very controversial fashion.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Rights.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: It's uncanny how similar their candidacies are. I would absolutely
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: be wholeheartedly in favor of Chuck Fairbanks also being in.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: But it's one of those things like, you know, can
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: you have it, you can't have everybody, you know.
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: I think that's probably a built to me Bill Parcells,
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: because I didn't you know, like I said earlier, didn't
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: live the culture stuff and the changing you know that
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: he brought in. But the players that he drafted that
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: were then a part of Dynasty one point zero. I mean,
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: that's that's a big part of lay in the foundation.
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: I mean, you remember the picks better than me. But
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: you know Willie mc ginnis, you know that.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: Law Malloy, Brusk, Johnson, Uh, you know this he.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: But he got him, he brought it, brought inanity.
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean that's kind of his defense, right. I
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: mean you just named it pretty much besides Seymour everybody.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: Not only his defense, it's his style of defense. Yeah.
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: You know, now again Fairbanks, you know it was Hannah Haynes, Brock, Fox, Claiborne, Morgan.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: It was just like one stud after the next when
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: he he drafted all of those guys, Steve Nelson, Steve Drogan, Yeah,
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: Grogan stud for that time.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, right ahead of his time Freddie has a dual threat. Yeah,
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: he was a running quarterback.
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: He's really only one It was really, I mean legitimately,
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: he was really only a one thread quarterback.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: Because the Pages still hold that record for team rushing
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: in the season.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: I believe the Ravens they passed them, passed them a
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: couple of years ago.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken, Let's go to Fidel and Tampa.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: What's up Fidel?
- 1:22:09Speaker 15: Uh So, I want to say if I'm looking board
- 1:22:15Speaker 15: with draft, as I really am. Okay, my only thought
- 1:22:22Speaker 15: for us behind it is like if Abdul Cornor and
- 1:22:25Speaker 15: Travis Hunter go and if you had to put your mortgage,
- 1:22:28Speaker 15: that one player coming out of this draft is going
- 1:22:31Speaker 15: to go to the Hall of Fame.
- 1:22:33Speaker 16: To me, I.
- 1:22:33Speaker 15: Think it's happened to be, even though I know the
- 1:22:36Speaker 15: positional value at four or betrayed back stick isn't there.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: I didn't do that.
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: Yeah, that line was struggling, But I get the gist
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: of what he's saying, and I can't argue.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I don't hate it.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Again, I like to Evan and I disagree on a
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: lot of stuff, and we agree on a lot of stuff,
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: and this is one of the ones that we agree on.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: I don't think the guy that you draft, let's say,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: in the top five of any draft, should have a
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: possibility in your mind to be a Hall of Famer.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: Should that be a criteria.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: It's a high bar.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: It is a high bar. No, But like that's not
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: really the point of what he was saying.
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: I know he's saying that he has the potential to
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: be if you had to bet on one guy, yeah,
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: that he would bet on.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: I can't argue with that.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't argue that either. I just I just
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: keep on going back to philosophically, just building a football team.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: And if you put, if you draft Ashton Genty first
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: of all, then Day two better be all offensive lineman, like.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: You you better.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: You better throw as many darts at left tackle and
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: even left guard as you possibly can. Like you have
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: to build it, uh successfully around that style, Like you
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: are going to have to have a dominant offensive line
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: in front of Ashton Genty. I think the part that
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: I come back to is the notion that Ashton Genty
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: is going to turn a bad offensive line into a
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: good one is just not true. Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: He can turn a solid offensive line into a great
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: one or you know, elevate you know that situation. But
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: if they put the same product in front of him
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: on the line that they had last year, he's not
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: going to gonna be worth the pick. It's just not
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: gonna work out. So I just look at it that
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: way personally, that I just I have a tough time
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: envisioning them having an environment that will allow him. Like
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: when the Cowboys drafted Zeke, Like, they had multiple Hall
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: of Famers on their offensive line, they had a great
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: offensive line, so he came in and he was, you know,
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: instantly one of the best running backs in the NFL.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: I just don't think the Patriots have that setup for
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: gent and that that would be my hesitation Antoine's and Mississippi.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Hey, Antwin, Hey, how are you doing? Okay?
- 1:24:48Speaker 11: So I have a question.
- 1:24:49Speaker 9: So we all agree that we're in a new regime
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: right with the new management and the new coaching statup,
- 1:24:57Speaker 9: and for the past through draft, the Patriots have just
- 1:25:00Speaker 9: been they're waiting for the pig, like they're not aggressive
- 1:25:05Speaker 9: at all. And I really think there hasn't been a
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: narrative to where the Patriots should like trade up, not
- 1:25:12Speaker 9: to number one, but maybe to number two, and that
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: way Cleveland can stay in the midstic gif Abduill Carter,
- 1:25:18Speaker 9: and we can get Travis Hunter, because I think that'll
- 1:25:21Speaker 9: be a great option for us, and I think that
- 1:25:22Speaker 9: it wouldn't cost as much as people would think. Maybe
- 1:25:25Speaker 9: we have two thirds this year, we can give them
- 1:25:27Speaker 9: a third of fields, and we have three favorites. We
- 1:25:29Speaker 9: give us seven and maybe a second round next year,
- 1:25:32Speaker 9: and Nick should be enough to go up, you know,
- 1:25:34Speaker 9: to go and get them. But I just think that
- 1:25:36Speaker 9: right now we need to be more aggressive. And people
- 1:25:38Speaker 9: really aren't talking about trading up. They're just talking about
- 1:25:42Speaker 9: trading back, trading back or just waiting to see what
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: happens for us, And we should really be more aggressive,
- 1:25:48Speaker 9: like like they said that we we're gonna be.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: I mean, I can't argue with that either. I mean
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: there's a there's an argument for both. I want more players.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: I don't want to give up all those assets, but
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: let's get somebody who can make a difference, and we
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: know can make a difference. Whether it's Carter or those
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: are Yeah, those are the two guys that are worth
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: trading up for now. I think it would Thanks Antoine,
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: I think you're.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: Gonna give up a lot of assets that I'm not
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: sure that you're can afford to.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: Give out going from four to two. Yeah. I think
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: he's right.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: I think it's going to cost you some draft picks
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: to do that, because everybody else thinks that there's only
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: two guys in the draft too.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: Like I don't hate the idea of it. I don't
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: hate it.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: I don't I would.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: Probably prefer to try to trade up from thirty eight.
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: I think if you trade it up from thirty eight
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: back into the end of the first round, there might
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: be some tackles and receivers that are maybe more value there.
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: You know, an Arianta Nursery, Josh Connery, you know Mecca Buka,
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Matthew Golden, like those guys might still be available at
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: that point of the draft. That, okay, we didn't have
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: to reach on. We don't think that Will Campbell's going
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: to make it at tackle, so now we don't have
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: to reach out.
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: I like that idea.
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: I probably that's still being aggressive to me, Like it's
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: not aggressive like the caller was talking about necessarily, but
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: I think actually pulling off a trade back into the
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: first round to make two first round picks would be
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: pretty enticing.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Frasier in edin Bleagh, Scotland rites in after the Digs
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: signing last week, I've come to think that we are
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: almost certain to take Will Campbell. Rabel has shown in
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: the last few weeks that he has set on filling
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: as many of the gaping holes that we have on
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: the roster. I'd say that left tackle is the largest
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: of the holes that we have, so it is inconceivable
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: that he won't address that position this offseason. I know
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: there are doubts about Campbell, but we can only pick
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: from what's available, and it seems that he's the best
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: left tackle this year, so we should take him. Sounds logic, Yeah,
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: I agree, Yeah, I agree.
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: Yeah. I find it hard to believe that it won't
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: be one of the two tackles, whether it's Membo or Campbell,
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: if Carter and Hunter are gone, if Carter and Hunter
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: make it to four, one of those guys, I think
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: he's the pick. But if it's not that, then I
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: think it's gonna be one of those two tackles. And
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: one of the things he said yesterday that you know
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: he's talking right to me when he said this, he said,
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: you know you want need and best available to kind
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: of marry up together, you know, not this notion that
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: it's always just best player available, best player last week.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: Like you don't just like ignore a need that's not
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: That's not how you do it.
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: So hearing him say that and hearing him talk about
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: the tackles, it seems to me like they know left
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: tackles the biggest need on their on their roster right now,
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: and they have two guys that they like at that spot.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: H David Bethlehem writes in this draft is hard to evaluate.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: So many players had stalled development during COVID in their
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: formative years. Vrabel is smart to bring in Multiple coaches
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: agree with Fred Campbell has true grit, Paul and Evan
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: who should be the Patriot's second round pick.
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: I love Evan's trade with Matthew Golden. I really like him.
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: If you can get high enough for him, and if
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: you could get into the fund and do something like that,
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: I'd be in favor of that.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know.
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: I mean, everyone would know the particulars of the guys
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: that are going to be around thirty eight more than
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: I would.
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: I think the three guys that I've kind of looked
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: a little bit extra at recently. Ursery, the left tackle
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: from Minnesota, big guy, you know, kind of like a
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: not quite as big as like Trent Brown, but a
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: bigger tackle. You know, that's what you're getting with him.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: Connery is a smaller tackle that's a little bit more
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: athletic and a little bit of a better pass blocker.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: So like those two guys, and then I don't know
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: what is going to end up happening on draft weekend
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: with Luther Burden. You know, there's a lot of teams
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: that have some off the field concerns about his makeup
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: and his attitude and all that kind of stuff. He
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: could fall out of the first round as a result,
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: And to me, he is a first round talent all
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: the way. So do you roll the dice a little
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: bit at thirty eight and say, you know, we really
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: need star power a receiver.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: He give me this year's ad Mitchell, yeah.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: Or yeah, something along those lines, you know, we really
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: need It's not enough like we need a needle mover
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: at that position. Yeah, he's got some wards with him
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: in terms of his character, but you know, Rabel will
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: be on him and they'll they'll get him you know,
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: to stay on the tracks, and he's a to me,
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: he's a top twenty player in the draft just based
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: off the tape. But he's got some of those.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Wards Rusty and Arlin. Not sure if Paul is doing
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: a poll, but I am very much in favor of
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: Parcels being in the Hall of Fame. I'm glad they
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: are able to honor Parcels while he's still alive and healthy.
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: Can you talk about how the Bled Cell Parcels years felt.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: From what I understand, Parcels left over not having enough
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: personnel control. I know people were angry about how he left.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Was there a sense they should have given him more control?
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Were people ready for him to leave by the end
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: when Belchik came in. Did you genuinely believe he could
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: win a Super Bowl with Bled Cell?
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: I mean I did, but I meant was my guy?
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: Yeah? That was That was the crux of it. It
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: was control of personnel.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: I think that there was some a lack of trust because,
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: as Fred said earlier in the show, there was some
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: restlessness on Parcells' behalf that led you to believe that
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: he wasn't there for the long haul.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: And I think.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: The team felt we can't necessarily just continue to give
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: him all the control of the personnel if he's not
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: going to make us any insurance assurances that he's going
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: to stay. So that sort of led to a culmination
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: for the ninety six draft where they kind of undercut
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: him and and took took the picks away. I think
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: to the detriment some people would argue, but I felt like,
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: you know, there their plan of Brackens and Muhammad that
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: was parcel What Parcels wanted might have been better than
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: than Terry Glenn and Laurie Maloy.
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Yeah. I I was just they ended up there. I
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: was upset that he left. And I remember going to
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and the rumors had already started that
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: this was it. He was gone. Oh yeah, by the
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: time the Super Bowl rolled around, it was. And we
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: were on the plane and Parcels had his friend, longtime
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: coach that I think coached him in high school or something.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: I forget. The name of the guy might have been
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: like Read something. Everybody back then was named Red. But
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: he was a He was a guy that, like Parcels,
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: had known his whole life. And he brought him along
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: for the Super Bowl, and I remember the guy came
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: up and he was going by me, and I stopped him,
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: and I said, can you tell Bill not to leave?
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: You know, tell him to stay. Freddie always always felt
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: like he could. Yeah. No, I wanted, like, knowing all
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: the the drama that he could be, he could be
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: a diva, But I wanted to stay. He was a
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: great coach, and I liked Parcels. But absolutely I was pissed.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: I was pissed that he was leaving, you know. Uh
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: So that's that's how I felt. Spiin Fresno. Fred I'm allowed,
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Am I allowed to already have a man crush? And
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: Mike Vrabel. Great interview at Vidya, great interview at the
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: league meeting yesterday. He's poised and confident without talking down
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: to people. He seems to provide meaningful information without giving
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: away company secrets, and he sounds like a coach without
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: overdoing the coach speak. I'm not just Bill bashing. And
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: we'll see what happens when the season starts. But this
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: is a breath of fresh air so far. I might
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: ask Rapes to prompt with Paul as my backup, given
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: how s felt he's looking these days. Oh thank you,
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: thank you, very much. There you go.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: So I I really, and I've said this a million times,
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: I love Mike and I really enjoyed covering him as
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: a player. He would be in that certainly in that
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: top five or so of players. So I really feel like,
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: you know, he's a guy that I know pretty well.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: I would just caution, you know, in terms of how
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: he deals with the media, let's let's wait until it starts,
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: because I saw some of his press conferences with Tennessee
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: and I'm not sure all the Tennessee media would agree
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: with that characterization the talking down to specifically, I think
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: Mike is pretty fiery, oh yeah, and he could be
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: a smart he's pretty emotional. Yeah, right now, it's kind
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: of the honey, great.
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: But I do like that it's very clear that he
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: has a vision for what he wants in players, like
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: we haven't goad him to the games yet, you right,
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: But in terms of what he's looking for and players specifically,
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: I think you could name any position on the roster
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: and say safeties, like what is how does a Patriot
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: safety play? For Mike Rabel and he would have a
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: full answer of you know, from my you know, details
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: to not you know, to more boiler plate stuff of
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: what exactly he would look for in an ideal safety
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: and I don't know if that's true for every coach.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Right, let's go to Patty and aga. What's up Patty?
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: Hey, good afternoon, gentlemen.
- 1:35:11Speaker 10: Hey, I wanted to get into a little draft and Brett,
- 1:35:15Speaker 10: I was wondering if you let me complain a little
- 1:35:17Speaker 10: about some of the rules proposals.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: Sure, I'm I'm preserved to.
- 1:35:26Speaker 10: The fact that we're probably gonna draft wool Campbell, which
- 1:35:28Speaker 10: is I never thought it would have been a bad pick,
- 1:35:31Speaker 10: you know. I all accounts, like if you look at
- 1:35:34Speaker 10: his numbers, to the pressures that he gave up, the
- 1:35:37Speaker 10: amount of time that he started, the fact that he
- 1:35:38Speaker 10: didn't miss games and played against top level competition in
- 1:35:42Speaker 10: the SCC for three years, you know, starting since the
- 1:35:45Speaker 10: first date that he walked on campus. All that stuff
- 1:35:48Speaker 10: adds up to you know, I think he'll be pretty
- 1:35:51Speaker 10: good tactical. You know, he's so so far, so okay,
- 1:35:59Speaker 10: I'm sorry to see how that goes. Evan, I'm with you, Like,
- 1:36:03Speaker 10: if Burdon is there at thirty eight, I would the
- 1:36:06Speaker 10: two guys like, I love Jalen Noel, but Polly, like
- 1:36:09Speaker 10: your guy, we don't have.
- 1:36:10Speaker 11: A guy like Jayden Niggts.
- 1:36:12Speaker 10: We don't have that typical extraceater. I wouldn't mind seeing
- 1:36:15Speaker 10: either one of those two guys at thirty eight.
- 1:36:17Speaker 11: And as far as.
- 1:36:18Speaker 10: Like the rules go, I don't mean to sound like
- 1:36:22Speaker 10: a grumpy old man, but I like the NFL back
- 1:36:26Speaker 10: before they switched to like seventeen playoffs, back when overtime
- 1:36:31Speaker 10: with sudden deaths. I don't like the fact that both
- 1:36:34Speaker 10: teams they're proposing both teams get the ball in overtime.
- 1:36:37Speaker 10: I propose this. I know you said it's the funk now, Frett,
- 1:36:40Speaker 10: but on the playbook a couple of years ago that
- 1:36:42Speaker 10: they should just go either one or two things, go
- 1:36:45Speaker 10: back to sudden deaths, or play a fifteen minute period
- 1:36:47Speaker 10: and whoever's who's ever in the lead, or if it's
- 1:36:50Speaker 10: sad at the end, just end it.
- 1:36:52Speaker 16: That's it.
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: I think this is pretty close to that. Yeah, this
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: is pretty close to that.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: I think if you play fifteen minutes, yeah, it's going
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: to be like now, unfortunately it's only ten, right, but
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: I think you're gonna get Yeah, with both teams getting
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: the ball, it's going to be kind of who wins
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: the quarter.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean. I'm all for a
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: change if it's good change, and I think both teams
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: having a possession is a good change. I agree. Yeah,
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: football is a unique.
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: Game, and I know the numbers don't necessarily say it
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: was just the team that won the toss wins all
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: the time. I know that doesn't back that up, but
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: it's an advantage.
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it kind of feels more like now that it's
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: almost like college style, except you just have to drive
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: the whole field instead of getting right because it'd be
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: way too easy in the NFL to make it college
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: style where they shorten the fields, you know, down so much.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: But you know, I think that's what it is now.
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: It's basically college like. You know, it's told surf.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: I think sudden death works in hockey, works in soccer,
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: but for other sports it's you.
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: Know, well, because there's is possession, right, this fluid change
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: like having the puck in hockey, isn't the advantage that
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: it is Having the football and foot right in the
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: NFL is.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: Right, right, So, and basketball it doesn't make sense because
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: there's too many points scored.
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: But mast money is a tweak it's overtime too. It's
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: too long.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: Too long, it takes five minutes.
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: It's five minutes. But like now at a three point shot,
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: like you could build a ten point lead in the
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: first minute of overtime and lose it by the end
- 1:38:25Speaker 4: of it. It's it's too long. They got to do
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: something about that.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: I thought five minutes is pretty good. Sure, I like
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: I'm getting ready to start paying attention.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: Yeah, coming down the home stretch now, yeah, I like,
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: you know, like maybe it's like, you know how when
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: you were kids, like first to eleven, right, Like maybe
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: like have it be like a certain amount of points
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: that you have to get to, uh instead of time
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: to overtime.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, let's see. Rick writes in he's in Rhode Island.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: Hope they get rid of the automatic first down for
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: five yard penalty. I think they already can that one, right.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not happening.
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: That's for defensive holding. Also, they should combine defensive holding,
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: illegal contact, and passive appearance into one ten yard penalty
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: for passive appearance with no automatic first down same as
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: offensive passing appearance.
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: Well, ten yard penalties is going to be a first
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: down ninety nine percent of the time. Yeah, Like, how
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: many times do you have third and longer than ten?
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: I know, but I I I, and I understand why
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: they didn't incorporate this because there's just too much incentive
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: if it's you know, fourth and twelve or third and
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: twelve to just grab them, just grab them. Yeah, and
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: then ten yard penalty it's fourth down, right.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: Or if it's a legal contact five yard penalty, it's
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: third and twelve. Now it's just third and seven, which
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: is also still a pretty low percentage conversion rate. So
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: if it's too much incentive, the defense can just grab guys, right.
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: I am very much against making passive appearance a ten
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: yard penalty. I think the spot follow is good. Now,
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: does that mean that I agree with the way they
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: call it? No, but it should be. Do you talk
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: about incentive when you're down fifty yards down and you
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: just say, oh, I'm beat, I'm just going to tackle, right,
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: because it's only going to be a ten yard penalty
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: that would happen constantly.
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: And that's why the rule is the way it is.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: That said, I agree with Paul, you got to call
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: it better and it's not where you review. Assistance comes
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: in the play and I think it should be a
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: reviewable penalty.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Especially on balls, you know, significantly down the field. Make
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: it be passing Apperance. I was watching It's funny. I
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: was watching an NFL network over the weekend. They had
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: they were running the eighteen Conference championship, so the Patriots
- 1:40:39Speaker 5: Chiefs was on. I was watching that a little bit.
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: But before that, they had the Saints and Rams, and
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: that that play egregious passing appearance by the Rams that
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: they didn't call at the end. And I still say,
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: and I give Troy Aikman and Joe Bock talked about
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: it a little bit, but no one talked about this
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: in the aftermath of the game. It's just how badly
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: Sean Payton screwed that up. It should have never gotten
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: to the point where they needed that pass and appearance
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: to be called.
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: Even though they got screwed.
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: That was one of the most egregiously missed calls I've
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: ever seen, bar none. But they had that long pass
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: to Ted Ginn down there, they were in field goal range.
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: All they had to do is run the ball three times,
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: make the Rams use the rest of their timeouts, and
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: kick a field goal with no time left, and the
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: game's over instead the game of instead the.
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: Rule of threw the ball twice.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: They threw it twice and in the second one was
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: the one that so they threw an incomplete pass and
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: then they got the pass in apperance that they didn't call.
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Now, had they called it, he would have gotten away
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: with it.
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: But sure like Sean Payton did not take anywhere near
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: enough criticism for how he botched that down the stretch.
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: Rick also says, as for Parcels, I believe the disgraceful
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: way he left was was a disqualifier. It is a
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: shamecraft pushed aside the selection process to induct Parcels. Yes,
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: he is the owner and can do what he wants,
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: but this is disgraceful. If Parcells couldn't get in through
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: the regular process, he shouldn't be in. Well, yeah, I
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: agree with that. Listen, I'm on record about my stance there.
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: But let's say that you do think he was you know,
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: he should get in the process hurt him because of
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: all the players that he's going up again. It's hurting
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: Wes Welker right now. Yeah, and so there is a
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: chance that he could get in, but post humorously, posthumously,
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: and that's not good, you know so, And again I
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: think I think maybe that's something that Robert Craft took
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: into consideration by doing it now. You don't want to
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: wait until it's too late. It's a fair point, Dave
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: in San Marcos, Texas. Raymond Barry deserves to get into
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: the Patriots Hall of Fame before Bill Parcells. He coached
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: here longer, has a better regular season and playoff record,
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: first Patriot super Bowl appearance, and coached that first NFL
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: team to win three road playoff games and route and
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: route to the Super Bowl. Also, he did not try
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: to screw the Patriots on his way out the door.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: Raymond Berry. See, this is where the bar has gotten
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: too low. So I'll just say no, this.
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: Is where no one can really eliminate their personal hatred,
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: because anyone that would suggest that Raymond Barry did more
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: for the Patriots than Bill Parcells is doing so solely
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: based on hatred of Bill Parcells. Like I loved Raymond
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: Berry as the coach. He inherited a team that had
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: been in the playoffs like two years earlier, and that
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: should have been in the playoffs the year he inherited it,
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: and he ended up doing a nice job with them,
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: They got to a Super.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: Bowl, they overachieved great.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: I had nothing bad to say about Raymond Berry. Bill
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: Parcells built what you think is the Patriots. Now, he
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: started that and Belichick obviously brought it to heights that
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: we never imagined. But there's no comparison between the impact
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: that ourselves out on the Patriots and the impact and
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: you have.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: When it comes to team Hall of Fame, you have
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: to take into consideration what they did for the.
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: Team, right, and you hate him because he left you, right,
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: And I get that the way. You're not wrong for
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: feeling that way.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Listen, if I was in charge of the world, we
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: wouldn't have to worry about this conversation because none of
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: them would get in. Oursels wouldn't even get into the
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Pro Football Hall of Fame. He wouldn't. He wouldn't. No,
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't say no.
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: Colleges wouldn't get into. Oh no, coaches in the Hall
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: of Fame.
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: No, I'm not saying that. Oh I'm sorry. In my
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: in my like, in my Hall of Fame, he would not,
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: he doesn't. He wouldn't be in. Uh, Vince Lombardi will
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: get in. Bill Walsh would get in. And then after that,
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: it's tough. Donald will get in in mind. Joe Gibbs, Nope, okay,
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: I can live with that. I can live with that.
- 1:44:57Speaker 2: I see what you're doing. You gotta you gotta win four,
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: you gotta, you got to. But that's okay. But Tom Land,
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: you got to be up there. I don't know about
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: Tom Nola.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: Guy like created like the four to three defense. I
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: don't care.
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: He changed it, like the entire landscape of the game.
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: All right, And by the way, one a million games.
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: Yeah, by the.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: Way, why is Vince Lombardi? And that's invented by the
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: guy from Army.
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: Four to three? I said four three, not three four?
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Three four was actually invented by Bud Wilkinson of Oklahoma.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: Bud Wilkinson. No, he's been it to three four right,
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: three four? Yeah, right, you're right, Bud Wilkinson, you're right.
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: We did a story on that for PFW. Thanks, thanks
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: for reading.
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: Yeah, so, why Vince Lombardi then.
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: Because of the amount of wins that you know, because
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: you got to see here championship championships.
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: So the other guys that won championships don't matter, like
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: Paul Brown doesn't care.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: Paul Brown probably would get it. We didn't get to him,
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: I know, because you stopped. Your list was two. It
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: was Bill walshon probably he should probably.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: I like this, to be honest, I'm more with you.
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: I liked small. I'm a small hall. I have to
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: be great, great great.
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: I just think some of those guys that you're ignoring
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: were great, great great. Tom Landry was great, great great.
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: Okay, I think that some of the some of the
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: players that have gotten in the last couple of years,
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't know if he was really great,
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: you know, like he was a good.
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: God.
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: There's good players getting in there. Brian Yeah, you know,
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: Brian Dawkins. I loved Brian, really good player.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: You know. They you know, for the Canton Hall of Fame,
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: it's become this event that they you know, they have
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: to have at least four guys or this year. It's
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: you know, it's so like I think in my world
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: there's a potential that one year Tod be no one
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: that gets into the Pro Football Hall.
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: Of happening Baseball a couple of years ago, right, yeah, yeah,
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: I mean, I I don't hate your theories. I just
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: would sort of where you draw the line.
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: It's to me, it's a gut thing. Like I hear
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: the name, it's like Paul Brown, Hall of Fame. I
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: just I don't have to think about it.
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: I just can't believe you don't hear like Tom Landry,
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Chuck Nol, Don Shula and think the same.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: I mean, sure, I kind of agree with him Onnol,
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: like I can see where he's coming from. I don't
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: agree he.
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: Had a longer. He coached a long time.
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: But I don't think there's an argument against Chuck Nolan,
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: Tom Landry, like Shula lost.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: One game over a two year span.
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, like that doesn't mean anything to.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: You, No, okay, I.
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: Mean time, I appreciate it, I really do. I mean
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: during manning in the cults, Tony Dungee then should probably
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: get in because he had a lot of wins. He
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: never did that. No, but like what did he lose
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: three games in two years or something like that. I
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: don't know. It's incredible, but no, he never did anything
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: like on your one loss over I didn't say, I
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: said it wasn't that, but it was pretty incredible, Like
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: the amount of regular season wins that they racked up
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: an Indy.
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: There's no free agency back then there's a different sport.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: But whatever, but like made it harder. You know, ask
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: me would just go and buy what you need. Just
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: winning a lot of games doesn't do it for me.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: But he won titles. Friends, It's not just winning games,
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: like what, it's the impact on the game.
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: I just find it odd that you like Vince Lombardi
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: is the guy that like stands up.
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: I'm not a big I would.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Make an argument against Vince lombardie because I kind of
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: agree with Bill Belichick on Vince Lain.
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:34Speaker 5: No, I always kind of got the feeling that he
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: thought he was kind of overrated.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: Yeah no, I I and I hear that.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: He's a great disciplinarian, a great structure, great program.
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't know. I think his contribution to
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: the game, there's a lot of things that he taught
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: that you know, got passed along and.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: Well that's why I would put in Tom Landry.
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Paul Brown for sure, innovator winner, Yeah yeah.
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: Tom Landry's from the Vince Lombardi tree, you know.
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: He Yeah, I did. I have gone down the Bill
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: Walsh rabbit hole recently and that coaching tree. If you
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: really yeah, you have to be a little bit generous
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: in some spots, but it's incredible the amount of just
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: a coaching talent that is all branches off the West coast.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: And I love those when you go back and you
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: see like nineteen eighty four, like you know, East Texas
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: State coaching staff and there's like seven guys that are
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: household names. Yeah, and you're like, wow, Yeah, these guys
- 1:49:37Speaker 5: were all nobody nothings at this time and they were
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: all together. It's like, you know what they try to
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: do with Cleveland, the Cleveland ninety four thing.
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: He only didn't like. It's more like, you know.
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: The Washington It's more like Bill Belichick and Nick Saban,
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: you know, the Washington Commanders, and then Redskins like Shanahan
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: with you know McVeigh and Kyle Shanahan and Bobby Slowick.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: Chris wather t i An writes in Happy to see
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: Parcels inducted, It's about time he, along with ownership, changed
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: everything here well deserved. And Fred was the guy you
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: mentioned in today's story, Mickey Corkoran. That was his high
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: school coach. Yes, it was absolutely Mickey Corkoran. Yeah, name
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: as the Red or something like that. Yeah, yep, Mick
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: to Robin and the Cats skills has a bone to
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: pick with Evan. I like these emails last week on
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: PU Evan smugly deigned to include Bill Russell in his
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: top five of all time NBA greats. He did so twice.
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: I can only imagine, like the rest of his video
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: game adult generation, what he thinks that he thinks Lebron
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: belongs in the top five. Lebron is a great player,
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: although he's allowed to travel and not get fouled. Hell,
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: Caitlyn Clark takes harder fouls than him. His top tier
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: is Jordan Russell, Jabbar Chamberlain, Magic Bird, Doctor j all
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: the great players, but also transformative talents that change the game.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: So please Evan stick to football.
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: Okay, First of all, haven't played a video game in
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: like ten years, so I don't know what.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: The video What is the actual issue with Evan? I
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: don't know. I wasn't I don't know.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: Say that Bill Russell, Yeah, I say he's a top
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: five player of all time twice?
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: Yeah, So what's wrong with it? It sounds like he agrees, Yeah.
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: Right, I don't know. I don't know, And I would
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: have Lebron as the second best Basketball Player of all time,
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: second behind Jordan.
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Jordan, Lebron's gonna get yelled up by Lebron.
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: You know, Jordan Lebron, Magic, Larry Bird, Bill Russell.
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: I might be able to find a spot for Lebron.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: I think Lebron.
- 1:51:43Speaker 5: I argue with Will all the time. I go, I
- 1:51:44Speaker 5: might payble to squeez him in my top ten.
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I meant listen, Jordan is the best.
- 1:51:50Speaker 5: I still think Jordan was better, But I I you know,
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: Lebron's longevity, you know everything about it.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to give him his due.
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know, Like the longevity doesn't do
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: it for me. I'm kind of with you on that. Fred, Like,
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: just because he played for a long time, he's.
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: Playing at a high level, but his.
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: His peak, I mean it's I mean he went to
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: eighth Street and.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: Anyone with multiple teams give him credit that.
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: You know, we'll see about that. I kind of hold
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: that against him a little bit. Why well, I really
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: feel like he has one real title. So that's clel
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: in Cleveland, Like.
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: And even then they needed them to suspend a player
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: for the other team to make sure it happened.
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: But like, you know, the ones in Miami, like he
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: was on Dwayne Wade's team. I'm with one this, Yeah,
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: he's on and brought Chris Bosh. Can you imagine if
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: like Larry and Magic did this? Do you imagine how
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: many titles they would have won? It they just said, Hey,
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: why don't we both become free agents? Right, we'll go
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: to the same place and then we'll recruit our friends.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: I know, because that's basically what he did. Yeah. Let's
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: also not forget that the Lakers titles in the bubble
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: during the COVID year, fake phony title but still the
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: second best player of all time. I'm just saying that
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: if you're going to put them up against George Yeah, Jordan,
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: these are flaws.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: But just imagine if Larry and Magic decided to play together. Yeah,
- 1:53:10Speaker 5: how many titles they would have won? I mean they
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: combined for what eight titles over a ten year span?
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: As it was? Yep. James Pettigrew the most Interesting Pages
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: fan of the World says, what about this is about
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: the overtime? What about both defenses and offenses are on
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: the field. Offenses start at their own twenty yard line
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: and then it's the first to score. You may need
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: a few more officials. But Evan would love watching the
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: All forty four.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: What I get it. Yeah, it's a joke.
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: I think, Oh it's a joke. Okay, I was thinking
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: he might. Okay, let's see, John is not a show.
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: Come on, John is not happy about Parcels. Never wanted
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: to see Parcels in the Hall of Fame over one
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: of the people from the Dynasty. Parcels ruined that super
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: Bowl for me, so I never wanted to see him going.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: Over all the people who made super Bowls great for me,
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: the owner putting him in seems fair. I will never
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: vote for him. Yes, I know he helped the team,
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: but he couldn't wait to leave us. The whole calling
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: Terry Glenn, she bothered me, and the way he handled
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: leaving pretty much screwed up the two weeks of the
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: Super Bowl in South Carolina, all I heard was about
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: him leaving and how unhappy he was. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: all that is fair. I don't believe that you were
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: offended by the she common I don't believe that bothered you,
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: he said.
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: But everything else I you know, I it absolutely was
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: a bummer to be flying home from the super Bowl
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: in ninety six knowing that he was leaving.
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a bummer, took away from from the enjoyment. Yep.
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Dave and Darry writes in I do think again over time,
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: I do think this increases the odds of a tie,
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: which I don't love. The only suit that, the only
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: solution I can think of while giving each team a
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: possession would be to add the two point attempt shootout
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: thing that they do in college. I'm not surprised at
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: all that Paul wants his first, regardless. I'm not surprised
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: at all that Paul wants it first, regardless. He hates
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: knowing what you need.
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: Oh is this is because of the down down nine
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: go for two things? Yeah?
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: Well, oh yeah, if it was if it wasn't a
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: ten minute limit, I would. I would, if it was
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: like unlimited, if it wasn't like one period.
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: Words are very hard.
- 1:55:29Speaker 5: If it wasn't one period of play, I would. I
- 1:55:32Speaker 5: would differ and I would want to know what I needed. Absolutely, Yeah.
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: But I think the time crunch makes it different, and
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: the fact that it doesn't end. Yeah, to me, I
- 1:55:44Speaker 5: would just go down, score a touchdown, make the other
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: team score a touchdown.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: But I don't understand why that matters to Rich McKay right.
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: That was my larger point. I understand, like the whole
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: Super Bowl thing with Kansas City and San Francis, I
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: would have deferred.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: What as Rich mcaino, he turned down parcels, I mean,
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: not Belichick.
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: Yeah right, Yeah, that one really makes them look bad, now,
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: doesn't it.
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: It does.
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: Yeah, he lost out on the forty third rate recruiting.
- 1:56:16Speaker 4: Class to the two point thing in college though, they
- 1:56:20Speaker 4: do that because it's not timed right, so like it
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: can take like this is still going to have a
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: time restraint on it. Where the college game, they're just
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: trying to get the game over, so they put the
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: two you have to go for two in there.
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: So I would do different. I would do that too,
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: you do both.
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: No, I would not the shootout, but make them go
- 1:56:39Speaker 5: for two after a touchdown.
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: I just don't see what I guess. I mean, I
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: just I gu it's a little harder to match. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: Mean if both of them get it, then all right,
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: we're gonna get stuck with a tie here. But I
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: think it increases the chances of an outcome.
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: Now, but they that was gimmicky and.
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: You had the ball second, would you go for two
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: to the win?
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, yeah. The Cody says, would you put John
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: Madden in the Hall of Fame? Yes, I have to
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: think about that.
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: You would not, I know, because I'm not.
- 1:57:13Speaker 2: Don't take that as a shot. You wouldn't because he
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: didn't do it long enough. I would do it, and
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: I didn't include the Madden game.
- 1:57:21Speaker 4: See, I would do it for like broadcasting the video game.
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: Yeah. But if you can, if you're allowed to, like say, oh,
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: somebody can do it for two things, get in for
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: doing two things. Then Raymond Berry, for example, Well he's in, right,
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: I think he's a Hall of Fame player. Yeah, he's
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: a Hall of Fame player. You think so? Yeah, I
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: think he is too. So that's not a good example.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: But well, like you know, who would be another example
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: of that, somebody who had a good career in coaching
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: and in playing and both of those factors get him
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: into the hall, because right now, that's not that's not
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: what they do.
- 1:57:56Speaker 4: It's one of the other, very better.
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: Either a coach or a player. He's in the Yeah, yeah,
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: so I don't think that would be fair to count
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Madden in. See, I wouldn't. I think he would be.
- 1:58:06Speaker 2: He should be a Hall of Fame coach. But what
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: do you have two titles with the Raiders one? Only one?
- 1:58:12Speaker 5: But it was like, can I get your because his
- 1:58:15Speaker 5: record is phenomenal. He had a good record, but it
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: was short. Yeah, and to your point, you would, I
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: know you wouldn't put him.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: I would.
- 1:58:21Speaker 5: You didn't do it long enough, and I have to
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: think about it. And then if you do it too long,
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: you're just you wouldn't go in because you did it too.
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: Long and you didn't get all the results postseason Don.
- 1:58:31Speaker 5: Sula, Yeah, Madden did. Yeah, Madden has like the best
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: postseason winning percentage of all time.
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: I think he couldn't win a Super Bowl with Dan Marino.
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: I do hold that against Don Sula. That's a valid point.
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: Neither could anybody else. Jimmy Johnson any good.
- 1:58:50Speaker 2: It was the end of his tent. He was getting
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: old at that point. Okay, yeah, but I do.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: I think that's how many super bowls ad Bill of
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: one with.
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: Because he wouldn't let him throw the ball.
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: I think John Shula is overrated, but I think he's
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: a Hall of Fame coach.
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: I agree.
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: I don't know if that those two things make sense
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: to me, kind of like.
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: The Lebron Jordan conversation, where it's like if if we're
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: comparing him to the other great coaches.
- 1:59:14Speaker 5: We're talking about two of the very best players ever
- 1:59:17Speaker 5: to play. So when you say something negative about one
- 1:59:19Speaker 5: of them, it sounds like you think he stinks, right, yeah,
- 1:59:21Speaker 5: but that's not like Lebron's. Lebron's an all time Oh.
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, come on. But yeah, all right, that's
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: be back Thursday. Paul and I might be a little
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: late because we have the Hall of Fame Committee at
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: ten o'clock. That might run a little over.
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: I might have to help Fred not get his his
- 1:59:42Speaker 5: butt kicked, because sometimes Fred gets in fights at those things.
- 1:59:46Speaker 2: He's a done deal now, I don't have to stand
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: up and talk about.
- 1:59:49Speaker 5: I just want to make sure he's okay. So I
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: don't like to leave him by himself. Yeah, all right,
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: gets in a lot of a lot of boxing matches.
- 1:59:56Speaker 2: Catch twenty two tomorrow, tomorrow. All right, we'll talk to
