Transcript
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Hi, everybody, this is Randall Wallace, and I want to introduce you to a new feature for our podcast, and it is politically speaking with Randall Wallace.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And it's going to be in two different forms.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: One as our history column project, which is going to be about 14 short segments that are columns and stories that I wrote when I was working for the Lander College newspaper, The Forum, at Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: I was a reporter there in 1995 and 1996.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And at full disclosure, I was the chairman of the Lander College Republicans and the chairman of the Lander College Republicans for Bob Dole.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And you will see the bias in some of these stories.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Something you probably might not be able to get away with if you were really in journalism, but in when you're going to a small college, you get you wear a lot of hats.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And um, but I'm I've always been enormously proud of the work that I did and the brief journalism career that I had for two years, if you want to call it that, when I was in college.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I think I learned a lot, and we're kind of using some of that now.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And politically speaking, will be a segment that will be here.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Um and we also are starting a publication called the Randall Wallace Journal, and that'll be the first column that you hear here in just a minute when we were introducing it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: We launched on July 7th and were rocked on July 11th by the passing of Lindsey Graham.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Uh I have been a supporter for as long as I've been an adult in politics.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Lindsey Graham burst onto the scene in 1994 when I was 23 years old and was finishing up my time at lander.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I worked on, or helped in a volunteer capacity, his 1994 campaign for Congress, which was his first one for Congress, and I was there again in 1996.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Uh uh then I moved to the other side of the state, so I missed 98 in 2000, but then he decided to run for the United States Senate in 2002, and then I helped him on his campaigns here in Ory County in 2002, 2008, 2014, 2000 or 2020, and through this primary in 2026.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I'm very proud of that connection to Lindsey Graham.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Uh but it set back everything we were working on.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: So uh this is going to be a new segment.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Um we're gonna be tying it in starting with toward the end of the Bob Packwood scandal um special series we're doing here in August and instead part of September.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Um the first column that I wrote was on the Bob Packwood scandal.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Uh and and so that will be the first history uh column that will be that we'll be launched.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: We're gonna we're gonna do one column just because it goes with a show that we've already posted.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: That's one of the things that did happen because of Lindsey Graham's uh untimely uh passing was that we we were tried to keep the main show on and we did the show about um Bob Dole's headquarters um out of order.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And so the story that I wrote covering that, um that one will be uh we're gonna post it um here in the next day or so.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Um but we're gonna try to get all this back on track, is what I guess the point is.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: We're gonna try to start getting the articles out on the Substack, and we're gonna start the new feature now with political speaking, politically speaking with Randall Wallace history uh collection, and also politically speaking with Randall Wallace, the new column that will be coming from Substack, and it will be part of about four or five different columns that are gonna make up that publication on sport of Substack, looking at history, looking at contemporary news, and of course, you know, some of some of what it's like to be writing again, because we do have three books that are gonna be coming out one right after the other, uh, over 2026 and then 2027.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Um a book called The 16 Leadership Lessons from the Cold War, and then two novels, A Riddle in the Sand and An Ocean of Time.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So with that, welcome to the Randall Wallace Journal.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And politically speaking, as it returns to the airwaves and to the screen on Substack and here on the Randall Wallace Presents Podcast.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And please come over to the Substack page for the Randall Wallace Journal or Randall Wallace on Substack.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Uh look us up on there and and join it because we can again get you on our email list, which will um, of course, uh put you so that we can update you all the time uh for all the podcast information across the Wallace Podcast Network and for the Randall Wallace Journal, and politically speaking, and all the various things we've got going on that we would love to have you uh be a part of uh over the next uh few years.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: I'm Randall Wallace.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Thanks again, and until next time, so long for now,
