- 0:01Speaker 1: The popcorn moment. Oh, always a dream. You know, we've
- 0:08Speaker 1: been doing this, I think almost as long as I've
- 0:11Speaker 1: been on the air here. We didn't start with this
- 0:14Speaker 1: kind it kind of morphed. But I would say it's
- 0:18Speaker 1: been a decade of popcorn moments, and and uh, maybe
- 0:23Speaker 1: we'll have another decade. I don't know, maybe we'll have
- 0:25Speaker 1: another forty days. Who knows. Tony Kats ninety three WIBC,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Good morning, the popcorn moment. Let's go, let's go, let's go,
- 0:33Speaker 1: let's go there. It is the story you need to hear,
- 0:36Speaker 1: to believe and grab your popcorn because there is more.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Many thanks to Bower Remodeling for making that happen. B
- 0:42Speaker 1: O O H E R. Bower Remodeling dot com. I've
- 0:46Speaker 1: got the story over there at Tony Katz dot com.
- 0:51Speaker 1: The show sheet is up for you. It is there
- 0:54Speaker 1: every single day. You should check it out for yourself.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It is it is a dream, I tell you, Tony
- 1:02Speaker 1: Kats dot com. Stephen Colbert, it was announced is leaving
- 1:08Speaker 1: the show. Stephen Colbert. His last show is going to
- 1:12Speaker 1: be in May of twenty twenty six. Now that's not
- 1:15Speaker 1: the story. That's how it came out the story is
- 1:21Speaker 1: about CBS. Listen.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Oh hey everybody, we got a great show for you tonight.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Senator Adam Schiff was my guest. We harmonized on seven
- 1:32Speaker 2: Bridges Road. What a voice, I cried. But before we
- 1:36Speaker 2: start the show, I want to let you know something
- 1:38Speaker 2: that I found out just last night. Next year will
- 1:42Speaker 2: be our last season. The network will be ending the
- 1:44Speaker 2: Late Show in May. And yeah, I share your feelings.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It's not just the end of our show, but it's
- 1:59Speaker 2: the end of the Late Show on CBS. I'm not
- 2:02Speaker 2: being replaced. This is all just going away. And I
- 2:06Speaker 2: do want to say I do want to say that
- 2:09Speaker 2: the folks at CBS have been great partners. I'm so
- 2:12Speaker 2: grateful to the Tiffany Network for giving me this chair
- 2:16Speaker 2: and this beautiful theater to call home. And of course
- 2:18Speaker 2: I'm grateful to you, the audience who have joined us.
- 2:26Speaker 1: He's grateful, sure, he is. It's been a tremendous amount
- 2:29Speaker 1: of money and a ten year run. CBS is walking
- 2:32Speaker 1: away from Late Night. Now we can have the discussion
- 2:37Speaker 1: that many have had about how in the world do
- 2:39Speaker 1: you expect late Night to work when you're only interested
- 2:42Speaker 1: in half of America and everything you do is about
- 2:45Speaker 1: attacking the other half of America. Not comedy, not smart
- 2:51Speaker 1: observations or the smart quip, but attacking one group of
- 2:54Speaker 1: people over and over and over again, with the same
- 2:58Speaker 1: voices every single time. His guest was Adam Schiff. No Republicans,
- 3:07Speaker 1: no Conservatives, no counter voice, and he made the entire
- 3:11Speaker 1: thing political, just like Jimmy Kimmel who told CBS to
- 3:15Speaker 1: blank off. He's so mad. Jimmy Kimmel, It's all awful
- 3:21Speaker 1: and we know it. So you could argue it was
- 3:25Speaker 1: indeed a ratings issue. CBS it's saying it's a financial issue.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Democrats they want an investigation. I kid you not, because
- 3:34Speaker 1: well CBS has had to deal with lawsuits from Donald
- 3:36Speaker 1: Trump and maybe this is just more capitulation to the president.
- 3:41Speaker 1: They actually want to investigate this. We want answers from CBS.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You're taking away our sandbox. Dang it, you're taking away
- 3:52Speaker 1: our place to be able to say anything we want.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And let whatever lapping circus seals applaud us. Late Night's
- 4:05Speaker 1: been dying anyway, because well the world has changed, the
- 4:08Speaker 1: way people consume the content has changed. We are done
- 4:12Speaker 1: with the days of Johnny Carson. You don't need to
- 4:14Speaker 1: go on the Tonight Show in order to start your
- 4:17Speaker 1: career in comedy. That career started with five funny videos
- 4:21Speaker 1: on YouTube, didn't start in the comedy clubs. It started
- 4:27Speaker 1: with oh dang kind of response to whatever it is
- 4:31Speaker 1: was happening, and people are like, I'll give that forty
- 4:34Speaker 1: two million likes. Oh great, let's book them at our
- 4:36Speaker 1: club as a headliner. Guy has no experience as a headliner,
- 4:39Speaker 1: neither here nor there. You can argue it's because you
- 4:44Speaker 1: attack half the country. You can argue that the moment
- 4:49Speaker 1: has passed and late night doesn't serve the purpose in
- 4:51Speaker 1: a world that has a ton of content that you
- 4:54Speaker 1: can get anytime on demand. You can make that argument too.
- 5:01Speaker 1: The Democrats argument is Trump, and if that isn't the derangement,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I don't know what is. We're losing our place, one
- 5:13Speaker 1: of our places, to be able to scream bad things
- 5:16Speaker 1: at Trump and not people applauded us. To me, that's
- 5:22Speaker 1: become the story, even more than CBS strowing in the
- 5:25Speaker 1: towel on Late Night Altogether,
