- 0:27Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian and
- 0:30Speaker 1: we are back to round out this Fear Street trilogy
- 0:32Speaker 1: of terror that has continued over the last couple of episodes.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And this time we are going back to the olden,
- 0:38Speaker 1: olden times as we get the backstory of our witch
- 0:40Speaker 1: in question. And then we come crashing back to the
- 0:43Speaker 1: modern era, which of course is the 90s, to finish
- 0:46Speaker 1: out this story. So if you're not already a member,
- 0:49Speaker 1: obviously this is the time to get on board. Join
- 0:51Speaker 1: the Meltdown Horror Club and you'll hear us say awesome
- 0:54Speaker 1: things like this.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I think it's about time to get some popcorn and
- 0:58Speaker 2: start watching the next movie.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Now we're back to book learning.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I will tell you the story of the fears and
- 1:09Speaker 2: the goods and why there was a curse.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Well, I already had issues like when I saw them
- 1:15Speaker 1: come up on the Netflix before I even knew how
- 1:18Speaker 1: they were spacing it out. And I was like, ooh,
- 1:20Speaker 1: the 90s, cool.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Ooh, the 70s, cool.
- 1:23Speaker 1: 16. I was like, what? That just seems like such
- 1:27Speaker 1: a weird turn to take.
- 1:29Speaker 3: This is not going to have an awesome soundtrack.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we were a little upset about that because I
- 1:34Speaker 1: believe Jayu said it wasn't true to the time. Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Because you remember back in the 1600s.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah, as a person that was around in the 1600s,
- 1:45Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Feel that it was true.
- 1:46Speaker 1: They just overloaded it with so many of the hits
- 1:49Speaker 1: of the day.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Didn't capture the loot playing.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Back in the 1600s, back when they were trying to
- 1:59Speaker 2: plot this bullshit out.
- 2:00Speaker 1: This is like learning.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I will tell you, there was a
- 2:03Speaker 2: trilogy and there was a little spin-off. It was the
- 2:06Speaker 2: Fear Street Saga. The Betrayal, The Secret, the... whatever the
- 2:11Speaker 2: last one was.
- 2:13Speaker 4: I never, like, ever liked the whole... Yonder Days movies and.
- 2:20Speaker 2: The little villages.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yeah, the little village movies.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I mean, unless there's like Hobbits or fucking Knights or something.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I don't care about witch trials, because it's all the
- 2:30Speaker 4: same thing. It's always a bunch of.
- 2:33Speaker 3: We've been to Salem.
- 2:34Speaker 4: We've seen this. We've been to Salem, yeah. It's always
- 2:37Speaker 4: a bunch of townspeople. Duffy old white dudes being pissed off. Yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 4: you know, and everybody's got the devil in them, and
- 2:45Speaker 4: everybody gets all whipped up, and it's all the crowd
- 2:47Speaker 4: chasing people, and burn them, and all this other stuff,
- 2:51Speaker 4: and grab your torches and pitchforks, and.
- 2:54Speaker 1: that in general is an odd move in the middle
- 2:57Speaker 1: of this like it'd be different if each of the
- 2:59Speaker 1: movies was a different time period and each time like
- 3:02Speaker 1: we had all the same actors playing different parts like
- 3:05Speaker 1: just to do like a cool again from the outside
- 3:07Speaker 1: not within the story within the story you wouldn't know
- 3:09Speaker 1: the difference but from the outside like you're just showcasing
- 3:11Speaker 1: look how awesome these actors are they're playing totally different
- 3:14Speaker 1: stuff in each one we certainly see that happen in
- 3:17Speaker 1: like tv series now they keep coming back in a
- 3:19Speaker 1: whole new season a whole new story but same actors
- 3:22Speaker 1: If they were doing that, it would almost make sense. But, like,
- 3:27Speaker 1: we just need to know, oh, turns out she wasn't
- 3:30Speaker 1: the bad guy.
- 3:31Speaker 3: We don't need the pig adventure.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 3: We don't need her.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I mean, it's all of that other lead up and, like,
- 3:36Speaker 1: the time spent on those two girls not really doing anything. Like,
- 3:40Speaker 1: they still don't even do the thing.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Dalliances.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Dalliances. Anyways, they fall in love. They're going, oh, I
- 3:47Speaker 3: want to get married.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Well, Edward's dad's like, no, you're going to marry this
- 3:52Speaker 2: girl over in this other village because her family is
- 3:54Speaker 2: of higher standing and it'll be better for us in
- 3:58Speaker 2: general if you marry this other girl.
- 4:00Speaker 1: These sort of things happened a lot back in the olden,
- 4:02Speaker 1: olden days.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I'm still trying to figure out how their plan was
- 4:06Speaker 2: actually supposed to be functional because if you can blow
- 4:08Speaker 2: these things up and they reform, how can they not
- 4:11Speaker 2: just T-1000 their way through a fucking gate?
- 4:14Speaker 1: That's a good question. I saw him kiss. They're evil.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Okay, well, Pixar didn't happen, bro.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So, you know.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Lithographs.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Stone carvings.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Hold still. Lithograph where it didn't happen, though, brother.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah, then they bring us back to 1994, which I
- 4:44Speaker 2: was happy.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Thank goodness.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Because not only did they bring us back to 94,
- 4:47Speaker 2: they brought us back to my favorite place in 94.
- 4:51Speaker 1: The mall? The mall.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Gadzooks? Gadzooks.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We go right to Gadzooks.
- 4:56Speaker 3: First thing.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I'm still disappointed that there was, in fact, not a
- 4:59Speaker 2: Sbarro in there. I thought there was, but what.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Was it again?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Primo's.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Primo's.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Which I think I always remember seeing at other malls,
- 5:05Speaker 1: like when we would go to other towns and be like, oh,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I guess that's a thing, but we don't have it
- 5:10Speaker 1: at our mall.
- 5:10Speaker 2: We don't have that. I was going to say, they
- 5:13Speaker 2: can't really prove that he killed anybody, so how is
- 5:16Speaker 2: she not getting any repercussions for killing the sheriff? Then
- 5:20Speaker 2: once good shows up, they carry his ass.
- 5:22Speaker 3: That's what she referred to. Not the exact wording. But
- 5:26Speaker 3: they mix all the blood they have left.
- 5:28Speaker 1: In part one, they jawsed him. So in part three,
- 5:30Speaker 1: they have to carry him.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Yes, they dump the blood.
- 5:34Speaker 4: On.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Good.
- 5:36Speaker 3: On good, because good is evil.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Fear Street Sagas, book number 14.
- 5:42Speaker 3: In the series.
- 5:44Speaker 1: What's the price? $ 305.
- 5:46Speaker 3: That seems a little pricey to me. For a paperback book.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So the next thing you know, Susanna Good and her
- 5:53Speaker 2: mom are being arrested for witches because apparently his dad,
- 5:56Speaker 2: Edward Fear, has now come across proof that they're the
- 5:59Speaker 2: witches and they're gonna burn.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Now let's get to the most important aspect of this
- 6:05Speaker 1: entire movie.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Headlamps.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Did we figure out the headlamps?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Your boyfriend was not at all happy.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Not that I was not happy.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I mean, they're also in the first movie.
- 6:18Speaker 3: This come up then.
- 6:19Speaker 4: What year was it?
- 6:20Speaker 3: 1994.
- 6:22Speaker 1: 1994.
- 6:23Speaker 4: So a headlamp is something that I would have had.
- 6:27Speaker 3: If I knew it existed.
- 6:29Speaker 4: But I never saw them. We went to bargain supply
- 6:32Speaker 4: because at the end of the year we had to
- 6:34Speaker 4: buy shit. And I had a flashlight. never once saw
- 6:37Speaker 4: a headlamp. So maybe they just didn't have them available
- 6:40Speaker 4: in our area?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Let's throw it out there to people. If you were
- 6:44Speaker 1: wearing a headlamp in the early 90s, let us know. Otherwise,
- 6:49Speaker 1: we have to assume this movie wasn't making it up.
- 6:52Speaker 1: They must have existed.
- 6:54Speaker 3: They make up a lot of other shit. That they do.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But this is obviously re-out.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And I will tell you all the things that they
- 7:02Speaker 3: made up because I will tell you the history. It
- 7:04Speaker 3: won't even give me.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It won't even give me a.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Because it.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Keeps trying to bring up headlights for cars.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So what do you think of this becoming a bigger thing? Because,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I mean, this did pretty well. I'd say those first
- 7:21Speaker 1: two were really successful. Netflix has enough money to do
- 7:24Speaker 1: whatever the hell they want. So do you think.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I think it'd be interesting for them to continue, depending
- 7:29Speaker 2: on which way they decide to go.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Are they just going to follow them, or are they
- 7:31Speaker 3: going to have different stories?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Is it going to be like an anthology series?
- 7:35Speaker 3: That's what I wonder.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Are they going to continue to do, like, the trilogy
- 7:38Speaker 1: thing was really interesting for people, so do they do
- 7:40Speaker 1: three movies each time and try to keep doing this thing?
- 7:43Speaker 3: But how?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Because, I mean, they wrap up the fear part of it.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I mean.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Well, just do a whole new set of stories and do...
- 7:50Speaker 1: If you want to keep doing the time thing, you
- 7:51Speaker 1: could do that or just pick three different... Again, almost anthology-like,
- 7:55Speaker 1: but split into three movies, so maybe. Or the other one,
- 8:00Speaker 1: I was surprised... So yes, when you join the Meltdown
- 8:04Speaker 1: Horror Club, not only will you get to hear this
- 8:06Speaker 1: exclusive horror episode in its entirety, but you can also
- 8:10Speaker 1: listen to the first two episodes in this Fear Street series.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And in addition, when you become a Melketeer, not only
- 8:16Speaker 1: will you get to hear these episodes, but you get
- 8:18Speaker 1: to help us pick the movies we're going to watch
- 8:20Speaker 1: in the future. Like this next movie we've got coming up.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It's a very cool 70s classic, we'll say, that we
- 8:27Speaker 1: knew by its unusual title and its strange ad campaign,
- 8:31Speaker 1: but we'd never actually seen it. So it turns out,
- 8:33Speaker 1: it's way more interesting and groundbreaking than the schlock that
- 8:36Speaker 1: we were expecting. And that movie was chosen by one
- 8:39Speaker 1: of our Horror Club members. And that can be you!
- 8:42Speaker 1: So when you join, you get to pick a horror
- 8:44Speaker 1: movie and put it on the list, and then we
- 8:45Speaker 1: will tackle that movie in an upcoming episode. So to
- 8:49Speaker 1: join the club, just go to MovieMeltdown.com and click the
- 8:51Speaker 1: link at the top right-hand corner where it says Join
- 8:53Speaker 1: the Meltdown Horror Club. Then you'll get to hear all
- 8:55Speaker 1: these exclusive episodes, and in addition, help us keep this
- 8:59Speaker 1: terror train rolling.
- 9:00Speaker 2: On this terror train, this terror train
- 9:05Speaker 3: Terror train.
