- 0:57SPEAKER_00: We got DJ Yanni.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know what part of the world he's in right now, but he's with us today.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: What up, fellas?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: What's five families?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: What's up, Bugs?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: What up, what up?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So um, before we've had Walla on the podcast, numbers did great, by the way.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Walla.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And um today, we're gonna do, you know, we're gonna introduce everybody to DJ Yanni Yanni, tell your story, where you're from, where you've been, you know what I mean?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Because you've done a lot, my brother, since I've met you.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And I've known you for 20 plus now.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So you know what I mean?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Originally, um, everybody think you're originally born and raised in New York, but let them know and take it from there.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: So I was born in New York City, and I went to school in Wilmington, Delaware.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: And then when I finished school, I moved back to New York, and that's when I started my career as like uh as a DJ.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: I did radio for about 10 to 12 years.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: I went for I started off my first radio station was Power 105.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: And then from there, um, I was actually, it's funny because I was working on power as a DJ, and I was on during the week, I was the uh I was a production director at La Calle.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: And I was working simultaneously at two different radio stations.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: That's how I met a lot of a lot of uh you guys, meeting you guys in the clubs and stuff like that from them.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: And then um, and then from there I did dance radio.
- 2:09SPEAKER_03: That's when like Pulse 87.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: So a lot of people know me from that because that was like the beginning of like EDM music.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: That's when like Dave Gutta um uh what was uh Lady Gaga just danced.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: All those records was becoming like super big, and I was playing that those type of music in a hip-hop way.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: I was scratching and cutting and all that shit with dance music, and then from there I went to 923 Now, and I was kind of like my from hip-hop to dance to top 40.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: I did that for a bunch of years and clubs, and from there I did TV, I did uh international stuff, and then from there I was like, I I felt like I hit a ceiling, and I was like, I want to be more of a producer.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: So I I dropped everything and I moved to LA and I started I started as a producer and I started a whole new movement in LA, did that for about five years, COVID hit, moved to Colombia, and now I kind of did the same thing.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: I made a whole new movement, a whole new new brand, new thing, and now it's like this is where I'm at now.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: I'm actually in in Meiji in Colombia now.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: He said a lot.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: So Jans, when it came, because I remember we spoke about it, and when it came to that point where like I used to always tell you, like, bro, you're playing that shit at a hip hop party, was that was that like you already knew, like, I'm gonna do this and this is gonna happen, or were you the whole time just testing it out to see where it hit?
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: You know what it was is funny because when I started to do when I started doing dance radio, like I still had, I didn't have any dance radio event or promoter connects.
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: I still had my Latin promoters, my hip my promoters.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: So they would they were like, yo, we like what you're doing, so just come do a set for us at our Latin night or our hip hop, and you do the EDM set or the house set, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: That's kind of how that started.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: And then that was that was it.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Like I was doing that for a minute, and then I was like, man, let me try to get into these other clubs, and I had to walk away from a lot of money because I had to reset my brand because it was tough, because it was like I was either too Latin for certain parties or I was too urban for some Latin parties.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: So when I tried to get into certain other like rooms, I had to reset my whole brand and kind of like, and that's how I got into like the Jersey Shore parties and those like really electronic music events and things like that.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: But you know, going back real quick, because you said a lot, bro.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: We've we've spent over a lot.
- 4:30SPEAKER_08: So going back, right, when you made the jump from power, you went from um, it was like power la cage, then over to the dance station, right?
- 4:40SPEAKER_08: I remember you were doing, well, you you were doing mornings, right?
- 4:43SPEAKER_08: At the at the uh so you're doing mornings with star, with star.
- 4:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_08: So that's it.
- 4:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, while I was listening this show was so ill because it was like this was all right, so in the period of star, this was after Star left Power 105 or got let go from Power 105, right?
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: Well he got like well, he got let go from hot, he did power from in it, and then the whole debacle with the both stations and all that stuff, and then he he uh then started his own station with um some Brooklyn Russians.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: And that's I remember that.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 5:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah, right.
- 5:22SPEAKER_08: So is that where it came from?
- 5:23SPEAKER_08: The post.
- 5:24SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 5:24SPEAKER_08: So then you how so how did you get in there?
- 5:27SPEAKER_08: Like, did he bring you along to that?
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: Or did you so so what happened was when he got let go from power, he lost all his because he was syndicated in like every market.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: He was popping, like the urban Howard Stern at one point in time.
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: And he lost kind of like he was doing like a whole reset.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: So I was at that time when he was syndicated and he was working at power, I was an intern for him.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: So I would I used to cut up his his drops, I used to cut up the interviews, I used to do everything like on pro tools and things like that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: I I was an assistant to uh Miguel Candeleria.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: Oh, McMigs, hell yeah, Miggs.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so so and Miguel is funny, he's the one who started like telling me, yo, Yanni, you gotta brand yourself as a DJ.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: You gotta bring yourself, like you can't be the radio station's DJ.
- 6:13SPEAKER_03: You need to be DJ Yanni, who happens to be on the radio.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: He like he knew marketing and branding before I even understood it, and he always used to put that into my brain.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: But going from that, I was assistant producer, and then when everything hit the fan, he I got a call from him, and he was like, yo, Yanni, I want you to be the executive producer of my morning show.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: And it's crazy because think about it like this, right?
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: As a young DJ, in my 20s at the time, as a young DJ, I'm I'm DJing, I'm doing my I'm living my dream.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: I'm on Power 105 every weekend.
- 6:47SPEAKER_03: I got I got a mixed show with Sus One.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: We we we we split the time slot.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: It was on from like 10 to 2 or something like that.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: And and then that was during the weekend.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: And on the week, I got a like a full-time job, but as a as a producer, as a production director, editing commercials, doing music slots and things like that for a whole so I'm lit as a as a young 20-something year old, like I'm living a certain life.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: Like I like this is dope.
- 7:10SPEAKER_03: This is a dream.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: This is a dream I've had.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: And then I get a call from the start basically telling me, get rid of all that, and I want you to be a morning show producer.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: So I was like, fuck, like, what do I really do?
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: So so I knew the the power he had as a as a brand, because he his brand was crazy.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: He just the whole thing, he lost everything and and and basically was starting from scratch again, and it was gonna be this whole big thing that he was gonna come back to radio and all this stuff.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: So it's gonna be a big deal.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: And at that time, I was like, yo, I asked a couple people that I looked up to, some people that I that I worked with, and they were like, yo, Yanni, this is an opportunity that you really like if you pass up, you might look back and be like, damn, I should have.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: And and he I I said this, I was like, listen, I I'm down to be the your executive producer, but I gotta, I'm I'm a DJ before anything.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: Like, I need to have my own mix show.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: And I literally said that.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: He was like, bro, he's like, whatever you want.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: He's like, you can mix an hour on my morning show every day.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: You can have a weekend slide, because he had the power.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: He was creating this radio show out of nothing, and he had partners and investors, and he was calling the shot.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: So he was like, if that's what you want, I'll give you whatever you want.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: I'll give you the salary, I'll give you a mix show every day, and that you can have a Saturday or Friday night, whatever you want.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Bet.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: So I was like, I did it.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: And then it's crazy because the the radio signal wasn't as powerful as like the main.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: You only get a certain burrows, you can only get a certain in certain thing, but but man, like that was uh it was a pivotal moment because it was it was such a like and it was all dance music.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: So that's when I started that.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: But I was playing it in a hip-hop way, you know what I mean?
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: So I was cutting and scratching and doing blends and doing all these things.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: So to the purist that was really there for the dance music, it was like, yo, what are you doing scratching all over the house?
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: And to the people, to the hip-hop heads who follow Star and his his journey, they were like, yo, this is fire.
- 9:06SPEAKER_03: I never listened to dance music, but you're making me like this shit because of the way you're playing it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_08: So it was it was a dope, like dynamic for a minute, and and then, you know, and went downhill because of, you know, but for the moment that it that it was a thing, it was really big because, like you said, it changed the landscape of New York Radio, and all ears and eyes were on it because it was like the stars new move.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: So everybody was watching it, everybody was listening to it, and you was killing it on it.
- 9:33SPEAKER_08: And that's why I wanted you to get to it, that you were more than just a DJ, you were actually the executive producer during that time, which was probably wow, crazy.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, it was definitely it was definitely an experience.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: I learned a lot, I learned a lot from him, I learned a lot from the business, and that just it just it taught me a lot in a sense of being able to take a risk because like I like I told you, at that moment before all that, I was living my dream as a as a young kid.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: I was on the radio at a full-time job at another radio station, and I and then to leave all that to take a risk to see if this is gonna work or not, into a genre of music I never really leaned into like that.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: And I just kind of learned how to like accept it and just do it my way, and just kind of it took off.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: It put me into a whole different lane.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Like I wasn't really competing with anybody else at that time.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Now, and I'll say, like, every time that I would speak to you and you was doing this and you was jumping over there and that.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna keep it real, like you always, no matter what, you was like, whatever, whatever I'm doing, the hip hop shit is me, regardless.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I'm into this new shit, but I like and I remember, yo, I'm going to this station, I'm going to that station.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Fuck the East Coast.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I'm leaving completely.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: And like every time, and I'll say that about you, like, yo, Yanni was the one who taught me not to put flyers no more on social media.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: And I understood that, you know what I mean?
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: It just shows that you understood the marketing aspect of everybody just wants to get the booking, but also with some marketing knowledge behind it, you know what I mean?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And you know how to really freak that.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: So, like, you taught me, like, yo, you don't gotta put that fucking flyer there.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, so as long as you have the party information or the event in for your good ass.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: So, like now, the way people promote events now going into that, is like you get more engagement when you actually like you're doing something, you're doing something like a lifestyle.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: You're in your studio, you're at a restaurant, whatever, and you just happen to be in front of the camera, showing yourself, like, yo, this weekend I'm here.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: Or come with me, or like come with me this weekend and follow my journey or whatever, as opposed to putting just the club fire.
- 11:28SPEAKER_03: The club fires are good.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Club fires are good, but it shouldn't be the only way you're promoting yourself as a DJ.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: It should be levels to everything.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: You shouldn't just stop just because you're crazy booked.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: You should also do that and then do some like, you know, personal stuff.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: Because people now want to put it now with AI, especially with AI, people want real shit.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: People want people, they want to see a live person, not just some AI slop that you see like some crazy shit jumping off, flying in the sky and shit like that.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Some stuff is cool, but like, you know, people want to just see you.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And then, and then every time, and my back, Cash, every time you um, because I know you was, you was, you became the oh, he's the EDM guy, he's the house music guy at whatever event you did, but you're like, that's not I am, but fuck that.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: I'll take the check.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Right, right, right.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: But like, was it a thing of like, yo, I'm tired of this shit?
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Or was it, you know what, I'm done with this, so let me go to LA and pursue this other dream of mine.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: That's literally, that's literally what happened.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: Like, I hit a ceiling where I was like, all right, I then did every single club I could possibly think of as a DJ, as a young DJ in New York.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Like, I could, like, those those moments, uh, and we've all had them as DJs.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: Like, damn, I wish I could DJ there.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: You know, it could be in New York, it could be Jersey.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: I remember, I remember I felt that about bliss.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: I remember I felt that about Abyss.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: I remember I felt that about different places in Jersey, places in New York, Pasha, all these places.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: And then when you actually get to do that, and then you're at in rotation and you're living this lifestyle, now you're on rotation, now you're flying and your events there, then you're living this lifestyle.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: And then for me, it just got to a point where I was phoning it in.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: Like I was on the radio now, and now I'm on every night, and I'm now DJing the clubs that I wanted to DJ, and I'm living this life, but I felt like I was just phoning it in.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: I was it wasn't like I've fallen out of love with it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: It wasn't, it was like I wanted more for myself.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Like after I'm doing it, it be it felt like a job.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: I felt like I was going up for a job.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: I needed to DJ these clubs, I needed to be on the radio, I needed to do all these things.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Now it's just like, all right, what do I really want?
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: And I was always a producer, but I wasn't the best producer.
- 13:31SPEAKER_03: I had the ability to produce, but I also never had a direct lane.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Like, this is my sound.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: I never did that.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: I just like when whenever like a song will come and it was popping, if it was a hip-hop song, I would make it into a like an electronic song.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: And if it was like a pop song, I would make it into like an urban, maybe a jersey club or something, so I can put it in the at that radio station at the time.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Because we were playing hip-hop records, but we were also playing like the Katy Perry's and the Justin Bieber's and stuff.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: But when I when I when I made a Justin Bieber B More record or Jersey Club record, I was like, nah, I can't.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: This is not a point.
- 14:07SPEAKER_08: That was a breaking point.
- 14:08SPEAKER_08: You were like, I can't do this.
- 14:13SPEAKER_06: Hey Yanni, you said hold up.
- 14:15SPEAKER_06: So Yanni, you said you went from New York to Delaware, Delaware back to New York to LA, and now you're in Columbia.
- 14:21SPEAKER_06: I have to ask, are are you Colombian?
- 14:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I would wonder like why Columbia?
- 14:27SPEAKER_06: What's the scene in Columbia?
- 14:28SPEAKER_06: Is the nightclubs popping?
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: So that it's that's interesting you say that.
- 14:32SPEAKER_03: It's like, so when when I was in LA, well, first of all, being Columbia from New York, let's hold on to LA.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Let's handle LA first.
- 14:41SPEAKER_08: There's a lot going on.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: Hold on, let's handle LA first.
- 14:43SPEAKER_08: But wait, wait, what year did you go to LA?
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: What year did you make the transition to LA?
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: 2015, 16, around there.
- 14:50SPEAKER_08: And and besides, and besides you being, you know, besides you hitting your ceiling and just being not satisfied with what you were doing in New York, why did you specifically pick LA?
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: Like, why you could have gone anywhere in the world at that point.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: All right, so Bet.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: So at that time, I had LA contacts.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: I had LA friends where, you know, I started doing uh uh like gig swaps, right?
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: So I would go and like I have in uh Big Sipher was one of the first people I knew in LA.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: So I would get him I would get him gigs in Jersey or in New York, and he would get me gigs in LA.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: So that's how I was starting.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: So I started going out there, and then every time I go out there, it wouldn't just be the gigs.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: I would just, I would go to events, I will network, I would just kind of build my network.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: And I wasn't just portraying myself as a DJ, like I was portraying myself as a producer too.
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: So one time on one of these trips that I went out there, um uh I met some uh somebody was like, yo, do you know who Pooh Bear is?
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: And I said, nah, I don't, I don't know who he's like, yo, you need to link up with him.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: He's he's big, he's big time in this industry, whatever, whatever.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: So just in passion, like, yo, he's right here.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: You want to meet him?
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: So Pooh Bear's like, hey, what's up?
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: We do music?
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Yeah, right?
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: Bro, I had I've never I never recorded with an artist before.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: I never worked with a writer, never worked with another producer.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: I just I was on a raid, I was a DJ who did remix.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: I was faking it till I make it in a sense, you know?
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you got to.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: But then at that day, I was leaving LA.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: He was like, yo, I'm about to go to the studio right now.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: You want to come with me?
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: We walk on some shit.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: And I was like, literally within seconds of meeting him, I was like, yo, if you're serious, you know, being from New York, you don't know if somebody's bullshit or not.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: We're always on, like, nah, is this who is this guy?
- 16:35SPEAKER_03: I had not, I had no idea who he was.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: So I was like, if you're serious, I'll I'll change my flight and we'll go.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: He was like, yo, I'm serious.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: He was like, You provide with me.
- 16:42SPEAKER_03: He was like, Bet.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: So it's just me and him.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: He he was like, yo, we're going to the studio.
- 16:46SPEAKER_03: He had a crazy, I forget what it was, a Range Wolver at the time.
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: And we go to the studio.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: I had a bunch of records that I did with some friends that I did in New York and in Jersey, where they were either remixes that I took the vocals off and it became like an original track, or they were just tracks I was experimenting with, like an artist friend from New York or New Jersey.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: So I started playing him some of these tracks, and like I said, these were these were full production, but maybe I took the vocals off and they just became an instrumental off of a remix that did that.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: Maybe it never released.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: He was like, yo, this is dope.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: We're gonna I'm a I'm a I'ma I wanna I wanna write to this or something.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: So me thinking, like, like I said, I never worked with anybody like that, that stature.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I'll send it to you, whatever.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: He's like, nah, we're gonna do this tonight.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh shit, all right.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: We go.
- 17:33SPEAKER_03: But when I tell you, like, we recorded like four or five songs that night.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: And even as I'm as I'm like going through the experience, we're this crazy studio in LA.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: I've never been in a studio like that before.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: I'm hearing him sing.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: He's like, he's this freestyling, he's making like crazy songs, like it was amazing.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Then we leave, and then my homegirl who introduced us was like, yo, what how'd it go?
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: I was like, yo, this guy can really sing.
- 17:58SPEAKER_04: She was like, Do you know who that was?
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: She's like, Do you know who that was?
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: She was like, Justin Bieber, 112, Usher.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: She's yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what?
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: Like, yo, he wrote for all these.
- 18:09SPEAKER_03: I'm like, holy shit.
- 18:11SPEAKER_03: So it was kind of cool because whenever you and I've been around him, we became really friends and good friends over the years, and like I went to his wedding and shit like that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: So, but it's kind of cool the way I met him because when you see somebody like of that stature, and I'm sure you guys seen this with artists and things like that, where you guys know, people treat them differently.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: So, like meeting him in a way like that, and it was it was organic and it was we became friends.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Um, we did a whole album after that, and we became cool.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: But that was the reason where the reason why I moved to LA, because as when I went eventually went back to New York, he would hit me up.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: Yo, Yanni, send me beats.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm working on Justin Bieber's album.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: Yo, Yanni, send me beats.
- 18:48SPEAKER_03: I'm working on Jay Balvin's album.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: I'm working on something for this guy, for this guy.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: And I noticed that he would, he will work better when I was in the room with him.
- 18:57SPEAKER_03: Well, I will work better when I was in the room with him because now I can see the vision of the pro of the project he's working on.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: I can see, all right, bet, I have a track for that.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Because it's kind of like DJ.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: Like you listening to what they vibe on, I'm like, bet, okay, I got a track just like that.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: Or are you guys on this vibe?
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Okay, book, bet.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: I did this, and this is very similar to what you guys vibe into.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: So when I started sending him records and I wasn't in the room, nothing would get picked up.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: Nothing would happen, and I was just like, man, I need to be in the room.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: I need to move to LA.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: This is what I want to be.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: Like, I did, I done live my dream as a DJ in New York City, local.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: I I was already, I did Japan already, I did Europe as an open format urban DJ.
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: And this is for me, I saw myself the next step next stage for my career was to be a producer.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: And that was it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: That was the reason why I moved to LA.
- 19:45SPEAKER_06: Yanni, as the producer slash DJ, do you find yourself doing parties where you're playing all your own tracks?
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: No, yes.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: And it's crazy you say that because when I first went to Japan, when I first went to Japan, I'm like, yo, this is amazing.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: This is my this is a dream.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: This is like, I'm grateful for being here.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: But if if you guys know, being in these countries that don't speak the language, you seeing them sing the song, he's like, it's amazing.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: They don't even know the words, but they singing the cadence of the song and shit.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: So I'm I remember feeling like, yo, this is amazing, but it would be it would be even greater if they were singing my songs.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: So that was something as well as well when I was like, damn, I want to focus.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: Like I love this feeling as a DJ, but I just saw myself like, yo, now, you know what I mean?
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: The goal was to create music for people to know my songs.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: And now that's what's happening.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Now, now, not just that, like, maybe not the whole night of playing my song, but I can say maybe 75% of the time I'm playing songs that I created, whether it's remix or original tracks, stuff like that, collaborations that I did, and people are knowing these tracks, it's crazy.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Now it's like full circle, going from open format, urban DJ, local DJ from New York to actually live that aspect of it.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: It's it's definitely a crazy feeling.
- 21:02SPEAKER_06: Now, how do you feel when you're in a club and the opening DJ is playing your tracks?
- 21:06SPEAKER_06: That's crazy too.
- 21:07SPEAKER_06: That's crazy too.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: That's funny.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: It's happened before.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: Not even them not even knowing that I did that record.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: Like, oh shit, like.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Should they be playing your tracks?
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: Should they be playing your tracks on the night when you DJing?
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: It's happened before.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: It definitely happened.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: It's funny because as like, say if I'm not DJing, you know, especially like in New York or different or major city markets where DJs play my remixes.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: Like they're known to play a lot of my remixes.
- 21:32SPEAKER_03: But sometimes they'll play an original track as flagrant drums, my project, and not even know that I'm a part of that.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: Not even know that.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: So that's that's happening sometimes.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: But that's dope, man.
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: It's it's really dope to see that full circle like that.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: Can we talk about Columbia?
- 21:46SPEAKER_08: Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on, voila.
- 21:48SPEAKER_08: We're almost there.
- 21:49SPEAKER_08: We're almost there.
- 21:50SPEAKER_08: So, you know, okay, so you're in LA, you're producing tracks, and then everything is going well, I assume.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: At what like now to watch?
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: Wildload's Columbia.
- 22:01SPEAKER_08: At what point do you decide, all right, let me let me just rephrase this.
- 22:05SPEAKER_08: At what time does do we get Yanni Restless?
- 22:07SPEAKER_08: That's gonna be the new you know, we might have to title this Yanni is Restless.
- 22:11SPEAKER_08: At what point do you get wrestlers from LA and you're like, alright, I'm out of here.
- 22:14SPEAKER_08: I'm over this.
- 22:15SPEAKER_08: I've done everything I could do in LA, and I'm going to Wallace's favorite place of the world, Columbia.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: Man, I think that's what happened.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: I think you're right.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: I think I get to a point where I feel stagnant, and I don't like to feel stagnant.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: I like to feel like I'm progressing and I'm moving in life.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: So I think what really happened was COVID, well, right before COVID, honestly.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Right before COVID, I was in LA from 2016, 17, 18.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Around 18, I started a whole movement where that's when Bad Bunny Bubble became.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: And that's when that's when like Live in Miami had a Latin night, and that never happened.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: That was their Thursday.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: So the owner of one of the biggest clubs in LA um was went to live in Miami on a Thursday and was like, yo, I need this urban Latin stuff in my party in Hollywood.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: And we started this party called La Cultura, and it was basically like, because anything, like if you guys ever been to LA and you ever been to a Latin party back then, it was straight like banda music.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: You want it was straight banda.
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: You might hear like Sal Sama Nenga Bachata, but it was super Mexican, super.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, big Mexican and South American uh uh presence in LA.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: So they never had, and it's funny because being from New York, we grew up on a party where you're hearing hip hop music, you're hearing Latin stuff all night that never existed in LA at one point in time.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: And if it did, it was in the outskirts.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: It wasn't like in Orange County, it was in uh in different parts of California, Los Angeles area, but there was nothing ever in Hollywood.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: They didn't really allow, in a sense, I wouldn't say allow, but it didn't really like Nah you're right.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: They didn't allow it, they didn't allow it.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: He's like, you can say it, you can say it into Hollywood.
- 23:53SPEAKER_03: So that whole movement, we were ahead of that, and they hit me up, and that's when I uh that's why I was part of uh scam at the time, and they they connected me with the owner of a playhouse, and that's when started that whole movement of urban meets Latin music, and we were had we had like Fat Joe, we had Nati Natasha, we had De La Ghetto.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: We were playing, and it was funny because to me it was just normal because this is how we play in New York.
- 24:21SPEAKER_03: I'm playing hip-hop music with Latin music, and I'm all I'm talking on the mic, I'm dropping records.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: At that time, no, I don't care what anybody says, bro, nobody was DJing like that in LA.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: I'm not saying I'm the reason for that, but I was a big part of that in the Latin space.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: Because within a few years after that, I seen mad DJs, you know, being like how Boogs feels these days, where you have mad kids, where now it's like you guys got sounding like Camillos, sounding like Boogs, sounding like Cas Wild.
- 24:48SPEAKER_03: Like, bro, after a while, you know you had an influence on this.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: But it's interesting, it's dope because it got to the point where it was like, all right, now from that one party, it became 20 parties.
- 24:59SPEAKER_03: And then it got oversaturated, uh, saturated over like a matter of like two, three years.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: And it was dope because the LA West Coast market accepted me.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: And it's and it's crazy because they didn't know DJ Yanni.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: At that time, I became Breakfast in Vegas.
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: You know, that was a whole nother brand.
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: They didn't know DJ Yanni, the radio, the house.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: They didn't know from New York, none of that.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: They well, they knew I was from New York just because of my the way I talked and the way I uh uh uh I branded myself, but they knew the brand Breakfast in Vegas.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: So I started that brand at an at a nothing, and it was basically to be urban, like Latin music, and that's what that was, and that's kind of how we branded it.
- 25:40SPEAKER_03: Got it.
- 25:41SPEAKER_08: And then so once that was going, you know, at what point did you go Columbia?
- 25:45SPEAKER_08: All right, so we get to the wild question.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: So once it became like 20,000 parties that were doing the same thing, bad bunny nights and these nights, you know what I'm saying?
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: It got oversaturated and there was really no money in that now.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: Now it's like, all right, now we're gonna, I'm trying to shift now.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: And then COVID hit.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: COVID hit and it kind of just reset everybody.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: So if you were in LA and you didn't really have family out there like I did, and it just everybody that was from different places, because a lot of times in LA, when you're in these spaces, everybody's from different places, from Miami, from New York, from Texas, from all these places.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: So everybody went home.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: So during COVID, you know, New York's still outside.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: New York or Florida was still outside.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: So I started, I started going to some of these events that I used to DJ.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: I used to go to, I went to lobby, I went to like different places in New York, I went to go see you guys spin a couple times, and I was, I I started, and then some people were like, yo, Yanni, oh shit.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: And now like the people that used to listen to me on the radio, like kids or young DJs, now now they're like DJing in the clubs now, and they're like, they were fans of mine when I was in New York.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: And it's funny because I've always, I don't know why I do this, but every time I move out of a space and I'm starting over, in my mind, I pretend, well, I not not even pretend, I believe that nobody knows who I am.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: Or I'm starting from over.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Like I don't I don't know the impact that I had when I was on radio in New York.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Because every time I go back, even to this day, there's a DJ that's opening up for me, there's a closing out, or somebody who's even there, like, yo, I listened to you when you was on this station or you did this radio or you did this club, and I'm like, oh shit.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: And then so that started happening when I first came back to New York, and and people were like, yo, used to do these remixes and blah, blah, blah.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, fuck, I don't, I haven't done a uh uh, because remember, I was Breakfast and Vegas was straight Afro-Latin beats in a sense.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: It was Afro-Latin music.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: The shit that's popping now is what I was doing 10 years ago, talking about like Afro beats in Spanish, dance hall in Spanish, things like that.
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: So at that time, I was like, damn, I haven't done like an electronic or a uh a remix or anything.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: So at that time, that's when Whoop Deep became big.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: And when I heard that record and I heard the tempo, I was like, oh shit, it's already at 1.26 BPM or something like 128.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: I was like, if I just put house house drums to this, it'll flow.
- 28:07SPEAKER_03: So I did that, and then once I did that, and I saw the response, all you guys is playing on Holland E7, all the DJs playing in the clubs.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: That shit just went crazy.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: And I was like, yeah, I need to keep doing this.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: This is the vibe I need to do.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: So then when COVID hit and and and the more time went, I was like, fuck it.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: My grandmother was in is in Columbia.
- 28:27SPEAKER_03: She was by herself.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: I was like, you know what?
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: I could do this from anywhere.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: I can do remixes.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: There was no clubs like that.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: I wasn't really DJ like like that.
- 28:34SPEAKER_03: So I was like, fuck it, I'm gonna go spend time with my grandma.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: Came out here for like a few months, just not even knowing what I was gonna do.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Came out here for a few months.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: You know, actually, you know what the real reason I saw Nikki Jams documentary or that that that series reset his life.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 28:50SPEAKER_03: DJ Lobo and that thing, oh boogs and that thing, you know what I mean?
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's right.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: So I said I could do that.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: So I came back, I mean, I w I came visit my grandmother, and then I saw the way the lifestyle is here, the way everything is here, the energy, I felt inspired, and that's along with that, and doing that first remix of Woofti kind of put me in the direction, like, yo, let me try this.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: The energy out there when it came to you, like, let's say breaking into the clubs over there, where you like, oh shit, like he's from America, or was there already something going on over there?
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: So there's two spaces, right?
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: There's one that's the obvious space where it's reggaeton.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: Reggaeton is king in Colombia, right?
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: Then the other space is electronic music.
- 29:33SPEAKER_03: But the electronic music is a lot different because they like techno, they like tech house.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: So now it's they're a little bit more open to like Alpha House and like, you know, the the Latinhouse stuff that's kind of powerful now, but still, even with now being the way it is now, there's still tech house, and techno is the number one electronic music guy.
- 29:51SPEAKER_03: You go to any any any places that play that, any event, like Solomon comes out here.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: I'm not for sure you guys know Solomon, he's a huge electronic DJ.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: He'll come out here and kill it at stadium, black coffee come out here, stadium, you know what I mean?
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: So there's there's still space, but to get it in that world is w is way different to get into the reggaeton world.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: And then, not only that, now within the last, I would say, four or five years, the Afro-Latino music, there is so they call it Afro dance hall.
- 30:20SPEAKER_03: So they do Afro dance hall festivals, they do Afro dance for night play.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: It's basically it's just like how you would think.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: You can hear you'll hear the Rema, you'll hear the the Burner Boys, you'll hear all that, then you'll hear like the Viad's cartel, you'll hear the Mavia, you'll hear all that, Beanie Man stuff like that.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: But then you hear the Afro dance hall music from Columbia, from South America, from from Panama, from all these places mixed in there, and it and it really is an Afro dance hall night.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: So for me, when as as coming from Breakfast in Vegas, I was a lot more accepted in that world world than the electronic world.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: It was the electronic world was super um, and it still is kind of like gatekeeping.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: They stick to their own people, unless you're like some dude in from a B or whatever, it's harder to get on those bills than it was for me to get into the Apple Dance Hall space.
- 31:11SPEAKER_03: Because the Apple Dance Hall space was basically, again, DJing exactly the way we do in New York and Brooklyn and dropping records and talking on the mic.
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Now I'm talking Spanish.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: I never really talk Spanish on the mic.
- 31:22SPEAKER_03: And then doing that, but it got to a point where I was like, all right, this is dope now that the community, but I'm not really creating music in that sense that as much.
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: Wait.
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: I have a question real quick.
- 31:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay, okay.
- 31:35SPEAKER_08: So now you move to a whole different country, right?
- 31:39SPEAKER_08: Restless Yanni got on a plane again and moved forward.
- 31:42SPEAKER_08: Restless Yanni.
- 31:43SPEAKER_08: A whole different country.
- 31:44SPEAKER_08: This is a whole different question.
- 31:46SPEAKER_08: He moved to different continent, right?
- 31:48SPEAKER_08: A whole different time thing.
- 31:49SPEAKER_08: So what are you doing for money when you first get there?
- 31:53SPEAKER_08: Great question.
- 31:54SPEAKER_08: Great.
- 31:55SPEAKER_08: Because when you first get there, you're not right in the scene, right?
- 31:58SPEAKER_08: Like you don't just like that takes time, right?
- 32:00SPEAKER_08: Like it took time to do that.
- 32:01SPEAKER_08: How are you paying your own money?
- 32:03SPEAKER_08: How would you make it?
- 32:04SPEAKER_08: First of all, first question is how are you making money to support this, right?
- 32:08SPEAKER_08: Because people never people always leave that out.
- 32:10SPEAKER_08: They're like, oh yeah, I moved over here, moved over there.
- 32:11SPEAKER_06: Okay, I said it's Columbia.
- 32:12SPEAKER_06: It's ways to make money, right?
- 32:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:15unknown: Okay.
- 32:15SPEAKER_06: Okay, voila.
- 32:16SPEAKER_08: You're right.
- 32:17SPEAKER_08: There's that.
- 32:18SPEAKER_08: And then on top of that, how long did it take you until you were like so much in the Colombian scene that you were able to sustain that way?
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: So, number one, it's all legal.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: Word up, word up, let's be able to do it.
- 32:35SPEAKER_04: Let's be clear.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Let's be clear.
- 32:37SPEAKER_04: Let's be clear.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: I know I know movies and you know, Netflix documents, all that shit, but it's all legal.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: The first thing is, remember when I was in LA and I told you the the party started getting oversaturated.
- 32:51SPEAKER_03: So when I first started that party, we were making really good money.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: That residency was every week for months.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: So we was making a killing.
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: But then as as the others, the scene kept going crazy, the the the fees started getting lower and lower and lower to like, yo, I'm not.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Now it's like I'd rather do the shit for free for the money you charge me.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: You know, you want me.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: So it got to the point where I w I started making less money in LA.
- 33:15SPEAKER_03: But I had songs sign, I got a deal through Empire, and I got I got uh an advance, so I was living off of that for a minute through Empire.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: Um but even that, like I did that wrong because I learned a lot from that.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: Because it was like when you get in advance, you think, and I've seen I've seen uh uh Kevin Hart talk about this one time.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: When you get that check, you think it's forever.
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: You think that shit's gonna last forever.
- 33:36SPEAKER_03: Nah, you gotta you got an entourage, you got bills, you get you bought a car, you got this and that, that's that the van starts going.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: So money management is key.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: And I learned a lot from that space because it was like that shit went from here to here quickly.
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: So around 2019, where I started DJing less in LA, and I wasn't DJing in New York anymore at all.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: So I had to I had to figure something out, and that's that's the beginning of my Airbnb business that I started.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: So since we were at breakfast in Vegas at the time, um we had connects, we had some residencies in Vegas.
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: We'll go back and forth from LA to Vegas because it's a it's a four-hour drive, or it's a four and a half hour, five-hour bus ride.
- 34:21SPEAKER_03: And the bus is mad cheap from LA to Vegas.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: So I forget what it was.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: I think a friend of ours in the business was like, yo, you should get on this Airbnb business.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: I have like 20 of them, or I have a house.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: And I was like, really?
- 34:33SPEAKER_03: So I started doing research on that, and it started with rental arbitrage.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: It's hard to do that now, but and back then there was like nobody doing it at the time.
- 34:41SPEAKER_03: Now it's like I'm sure all you guys know people who do Airbnbs.
- 34:45SPEAKER_08: This is the this this is the part of the show.
- 34:46SPEAKER_08: We're gonna start new starting something new in the show.
- 34:49SPEAKER_08: What I'm talking about, we were talking about earlier with AI and other stuff, is when DJs have to learn to diversify.
- 34:56SPEAKER_08: Right, right.
- 34:57SPEAKER_08: Diversify, right?
- 34:58SPEAKER_08: So everybody please pay attention to this because this is very important.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: I just did something recently, I'm sure you guys maybe see it, but we're gonna talk about that later.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: But so I went so the first Airbnb.
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: Rental arbitrage.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so the first Airbnb was a rental arbitrage.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: And what that means is basically I I leased an apartment and then I subleased it on Airbnb in a sense.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Basically, I leased this apartment, I don't own it.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: I'm renting this apartment out, and then I furnished it, did all the furniture, and then I put it on, I take pictures and I put it on on Airbnb.
- 35:31SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: Back then it was really not too many people doing it.
- 35:34SPEAKER_03: Now it's really difficult to do that.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: They crack down on that.
- 35:37SPEAKER_03: It's not the same.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: The business is completely different.
- 35:39SPEAKER_08: And we'll be right back.
- 35:41SPEAKER_08: And now, back to the show.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Like, fast forward, I don't have no Airbnbs right now.
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: But I got I was in it, like I got in it, caused, like, at the right time, and and I got I made a shit ton of uh bread, and then I got out of it at the right time because it was starting to get oversaturated.
- 35:57SPEAKER_03: You know, so I got to the point where I started with one, and then I got another one, uh rental arbitrage, and then the third one I actually bought.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: So, so I'm gonna keep it a bug, bro.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: I it got so bad in LA, I had a recording studio.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: It got so bad in LA that I I left the apartment I was I was living in and I moved into my recording studio and I was taking showers at the 24-hour fitness every day.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: That's how bad it got.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: So it got to the point where I'm living in my studio and I'm going to the gym every day working out, but I'm taking a shower and that's that was my day-to-day life.
- 36:32SPEAKER_03: So and and and it was tough.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: So now, once that first Airbnb hit, I'm like, I'm not gonna be broken.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: I'm not trying to be broke again.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: Like, I need to like figure shit out.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: So as the funds started coming, it started working, this business, I was like, oh shit.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: So now the bread started coming in, as opposed to like going and going moving to a new apartment.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: I was like, nah, I'm gonna live like this for as long as I can, stack bread, and I eventually bought my own property.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: Bought one, and then for that one paid for a four-unit that we turned into a six unit later.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: So it was like these were all these were all in Vegas that you bought them?
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: All in Vegas.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: It was all in Vegas.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: And I was looking in different markets at the time, even now, New York is horrible.
- 37:14SPEAKER_03: Jersey is like there's some stuff you can get off of Jersey, Florida's a big market, Texas and things like that.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: But at that time, Vegas was like an unknown, it was an untapped market, right?
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: And then this was like at the end of 2019, alright 2020, when COVID was happening around March.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: It was like boom, they shut down the whole shit.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: And then I'm thinking, I even told my partner at the time, I was like, yo, there's no way.
- 37:37SPEAKER_03: They're not, I was like, we good, and people are still coming to Vegas.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: We're gonna be good.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: Nobody in the history of Vegas, they never shut Vegas down ever.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: I said that, and then that following week they shut Vegas down.
- 37:48SPEAKER_03: Damn.
- 37:50SPEAKER_03: Damn.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: Over the month.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: Bro, that was your fault, bro.
- 37:54SPEAKER_03: Bro, they shut the strip down.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: There's no no clubs, no hotels, nothing.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: So at in in that second, I was like, what the fuck am I doing we just got now?
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: I got 10 units, right?
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: What am I gonna right?
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: But I didn't realize, I didn't like it was a gift and a curse at the same time.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: It was a gift, it was a curse because it shut down.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: The gift was that the fact that Vegas was shut down, that became a tourist attraction.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: To see the strip uh uh uh uh like a ghost town, to see everything, and then out on the outskirts, there's mad shit to do.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: There's there's uh the Hoover Dam, you got the uh the Grand Canyon, it's not too far away.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: So people started coming to Vegas more, and not only that, because of COVID, all the bookings, because I had booked probably like three or four, maybe six months in advance at times.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: All the bookings that I had booked in advance got canceled, but I didn't lose that bread because it within within um within uh Airbnb, they refund you maybe like half a percentage of your money.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: I think at that time it was half, maybe 30%.
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: But let's say it was the 30th of half, right?
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: So I got you got to rebook.
- 39:03SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: So I doubled up during COVID.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 39:07SPEAKER_03: I doubled up, bro.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: So that ended becoming now.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: I'm just like, where do I want to go?
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: I want to go to Columbia.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: Let's go to Columbia real quick.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: So that's where the break came from.
- 39:17SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 39:18SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: And now we're in Colombia.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: So now we're in Colombia, and now it's like I'm now that's when I started like really, I went to Cartagena.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: I started studying the the culture, started the music scene, went to go into the clubs, and that's how I linked up with some of the biggest artists out here.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: Now, like I got records, I produced with some of the biggest Afro-Latin artists here in Colombia, just from the Velacious I started five, six years ago in those times.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: But um, but yeah, so so that's that's that's how I So yo, so Jan's, I mean, you've done all this shit, goddammit.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: You're a fucking superstar.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: And then um, and then like like I've always looked at you as somebody who just doesn't care and just wants to try some shit.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, obviously you just told her you're taking your chances and you're taking your losses here and there, but the wins are bigger than the losses, and then like you're a DJ, you're a producer, you're an artist, and I see the type of events you do.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Them shits are not regular events now.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: I'm saying now.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know what I mean?
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you and I, we've done some big shit before, pause.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: But like, this shit that happened this week, man, did this whole um um um recording academy shit.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Explain this, that what does that mean when they welcome you into what what present that to the people so they know what it is?
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: So basically, as a member as the Grammys, you you have a bunch of the it's it's a bunch of members within the the music industry.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: So you're part of the recording academy what?
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: What is it?
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: I remember so voting.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, oh okay.
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, so when the voting comes, the vote like best album of the year.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: Oh shit.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: This best genre, best this, I get two votes.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: And as an artist, um you could you could put your own stuff in there if you want to.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: You can you can nominate your stuff, or you could you can let's where that's where networking comes in.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: If you you got a friend or artist or something like that, you can nominate um something that's a part of the academy.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: It's really like it's like a for us by us type thing where you really it's it's not about you know how many records were sold, and not about who what went viral.
- 41:17SPEAKER_03: They really break down like artistry, things like that.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: It's like a tastemakers thing, you know what I mean?
- 41:22SPEAKER_03: It's really like they're really tightened in when it comes to stuff like that.
- 41:25SPEAKER_03: So it's just it's an honor to be a part of to be like um, you know, I had to be accepted and and and referred by my peers, you know what I mean, as as a person in the industry that they value my opinion and things like that.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: So it's it's not easy to get into.
- 41:41SPEAKER_03: Some people have been submitted and they haven't been accepted in for years.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: So that's something big, man.
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: Nah, that's fine.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: And also, congratulations to you, to um Dana Lou, right?
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: And um DJ Missis, right from the heavy hitters, right?
- 41:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: That's fire, man.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: Congratulations, bro.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, you don't know this, like I know it sounds like a generic ass interview question.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: Hey, yo, Yanni, what's next?
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I mean?
- 42:04SPEAKER_06: Hey, yeah, but Booz, we never asked him how he became a heavy hitter.
- 42:07SPEAKER_06: We skipped over that part.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: But no, Yanni, Yanni, I was around Yanni in 2005, 2006.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: And you voted for him?
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: You voted?
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: I know I did.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: He I I know I did.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's big.
- 42:17SPEAKER_06: That's big.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Because I actually got to hang out.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: Shut up, while I actually got to hang out with him.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: We know how Boog feels about Newton.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: I kind of forgot how that went.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: No, because I got to know the personal Yanni instead of just the guy trying to get bookings and all that.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: I don't even remember what year this was, neither, Yanni.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: So at that time, when I first got into, remember, I was on Power and La Calle.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: I was cool with Laura Styles at the time, right?
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: So Laura was really cool with Dennis the Menace.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: So Dennis at that time would put me into, like, he he knew everybody.
- 42:50SPEAKER_03: He knew all, he knew all you guys.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: He knew Camillo.
- 42:52SPEAKER_03: He knew the menace.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: So Dennis would put me in these rooms, introduce me to everybody, and he heard me on the radio, and and he just kind of like like a big big brother me.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: He was like, yo, I see potential on this kid.
- 43:03SPEAKER_03: And at that time, I was like a turntableist and I was a radio guy.
- 43:06SPEAKER_03: I never did clubs at the time.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: And I always talk about I did it backwards.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: I got on radio first and then I started doing clubs.
- 43:12SPEAKER_03: Usually, especially in New York, you gotta be hot in the clubs before you can even touch radio.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: So I did it backwards.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: But so then he would put me in these rooms, and that's how I meant enough.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: That's how I'm at Camillo, Boogs, all you guys.
- 43:24SPEAKER_03: And and these guys would show me love because they heard me on the radio on power, and I was playing music differently, and I and I would support like I can remember uh Camillo at one point in time, he was championing um what's the what's the artist?
- 43:36SPEAKER_03: Juggernaut.
- 43:37SPEAKER_03: Juggernaut.
- 43:37SPEAKER_03: I would play Juggernaut's records on the radio.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: I was do all that stuff and just build build a relationship with everybody.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: And I and at that time, before that, I went to school for audio engineering and music production at the Institute of Audio Research.
- 43:52SPEAKER_03: It doesn't exist anymore, but that was basically like the full sales and stuff like that.
- 43:57SPEAKER_03: So I went there and as an alumni.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: I will come and speak to like new new students and things like that.
- 44:03SPEAKER_03: And they had a partnership with Hot 97.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: So Jazzy Joyce will come, Enough will come.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: And I will do workshops on showing how like I do remixes and things like that.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: So I would one time Enough came.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: And that's the first time I ever met Enough, like personally.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: And I was a big fan in Enough.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: And he came and uh we did a whole workshop and he we he spoke about radio and I did my thing.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: I did turntables this day.
- 44:27SPEAKER_03: I started cutting and scratching because I wanted to show off that I know how to cut and scratch and shit.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: And um, and yeah, so from that moment, I was I remember leaving, and Ufs treated me like with mad respect, it was mad cool with me, and I was like, yo, one day I'm gonna be a heavy hitter.
- 44:41SPEAKER_03: He was like, Yeah, yeah, like all right, bet.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: This is like I want to say 200 like six, seven, around that time.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: So then fast forward, fast forward um a few years later, and remember I was on a TV show called Master of the Mix.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: Wow, that was like scratch, right?
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: So I was on season two, and Kid Capri was a judge, uh Amber Rose was a judge, Just Blaze Just Blaze was there, he was a host.
- 45:11SPEAKER_03: So, and I went through the whole season, I made it to at to the complete end of the show, and that's how I built a huge fan base from international and national, like people supported me and like and loved me through that show.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: And that's when social media started was around that time is when Instagram first started and Facebook became a thing, and like we were going from like MySpace to Twitter and all that stuff.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: So social media started pop.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: And during, I think, in the middle of the season, and mind you, like I already had a relationship with all you guys.
- 45:44SPEAKER_03: Like we would be in the clubs, even though we were on different radio stations, we always showed each other love.
- 45:48SPEAKER_03: We were always on the bill together at times, whether it was for like special events, New Year's parties, and it would be, I'm I'm I'm pretty sure we all of us has been on the bill at one point in time for like some some event.
- 46:00SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: So we all had a good relationship, and then I get a call from Enough during the middle of the show was like, yo, Yanni, I think it's time.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: And and I was like, What?
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh shit, he was like, yeah, bro, I think it's time.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: Because it was like, I think they were uh, it was just it was just I was getting a lot of press and a lot of attention at that time.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: People were showing me love, and he was like, yo, I think it's time.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: And that's when um that's that's when he presented to be a heavy hitter.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: It was 2012, to be exact.
- 46:27SPEAKER_08: Wow, that's crazy.
- 46:29SPEAKER_08: Um I just since we're talking about DJ real quick, I just like to say that uh Yanni is one of the top five heavy hitter scratch turntable in the gates, by the way.
- 46:39SPEAKER_08: You know what I'm saying?
- 46:40SPEAKER_08: We have if I had to pick a starting five, and they're like, yo, we're having a DJ battle, you need to beat five people.
- 46:45SPEAKER_08: I'm like, alright, cool.
- 46:46SPEAKER_08: I'm like, DP1, V1, DP1, Fat Fingers, Yanni, and uh oh well, Rock Raider, rest in peace.
- 46:55SPEAKER_08: And I'm taking Rock Raider, rest in peace.
- 46:57SPEAKER_08: Unbeatable.
- 46:58SPEAKER_08: It's an unbeatable top five right there.
- 47:01SPEAKER_08: And fun fact, I think me and Yanni are the only hamster DJs in the heavy hitter.
- 47:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:09SPEAKER_00: I know that.
- 47:11SPEAKER_08: I was gonna say something crazy.
- 47:12SPEAKER_08: I was gonna say like backwards brothers, but that sounds kind of crazy.
- 47:14SPEAKER_08: Take a break, take a break, take a lap, Cass.
- 47:16SPEAKER_08: Take a lap, take a lap, take a lap.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: Take a lap.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: We also don't know what hamster is basically when you're the cross fader, it's backwards.
- 47:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we confuse every DJ in the world.
- 47:29SPEAKER_08: It's me and Yanni.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: I don't know if anybody was in the crew.
- 47:32SPEAKER_03: Bro, so if you ever showed up to the club after us and you didn't, we didn't we didn't turn the back, you was like, what the fuck?
- 47:40SPEAKER_07: Why is this shit not working?
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: Bro, that's dumb putty.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: But it's funny, my reason is different from Cass's reason.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: What's your reason?
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: My reason was remember the old Gemini mixer where it was like the switch.
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: There was like there was a line on there was a line phono switch and both sides had it, right?
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: So I didn't I couldn't scratch for nothing with the fader at all.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: And then my boy was like, yo, try and scratch with the with the with the with the switch button.
- 48:06SPEAKER_03: It's it's basically the line, phono.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Phono line.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: So I learned how to scratch the with the line button.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: I'm sitting here scratching, right?
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, why can't I de why can't I scratch with the fader?
- 48:18SPEAKER_03: So then I really broke down the the science behind it.
- 48:22SPEAKER_03: When the switch was to the right, the the record was off.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: When the switch was to the left, the record was on, and I was able to cut and scratch like this.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: So I was like, damn, if I just reverse the fader, it'll be the same thing.
- 48:33SPEAKER_03: And that's that's basically what it was.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: So I had so I learned how to scratch eventually with the fader, and then I just re-taught myself how to mix and go back and forth using the fader backwards.
- 48:42SPEAKER_03: And then now I was just see why you learn something every day, baby Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
- 48:47SPEAKER_08: We're we're special.
- 48:52SPEAKER_06: How do y'all two feel when y'all get to a club and the mixer doesn't have that option?
- 48:55SPEAKER_06: Are y'all?
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: What do you do then?
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Are y'all good?
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: You just still DJ.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: You still up and down, brother.
- 49:00SPEAKER_07: You can either go up and down or you really think about it before you switch to work.
- 49:06SPEAKER_07: You gotta really think about it.
- 49:07SPEAKER_07: You gotta be like, oh.
- 49:09SPEAKER_07: Okay, I'm gonna switch.
- 49:12SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: You really gotta think about it.
- 49:14SPEAKER_03: Now, even now, now that I'm in this electronic world, there's less faders now.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: Now there's just now, now there's Yuri, and now it's like I show up and I'm like, it's four CDJs, and I'm ready to DJ on USBs, and I get there, I'm like, where the fuck is the cross fader at?
- 49:27SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 49:28SPEAKER_08: So that brings up a good point.
- 49:31SPEAKER_08: USBs.
- 49:32SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 49:33SPEAKER_08: So talk talk to us, talk to us about the USB.
- 49:35SPEAKER_08: So you you do USBs now for the most part.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: 100%.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: I haven't I haven't brought a laptop for again over five, six years.
- 49:42SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 49:42SPEAKER_08: So all so for all the non-DJs in the uh that watch the show, I don't know why you guys are watching the show, but thank you.
- 49:48SPEAKER_08: Thank you so much.
- 49:48SPEAKER_08: We get so nerdy DJ shit that sometimes we forget that.
- 49:51SPEAKER_08: You will watch this too.
- 49:53SPEAKER_08: So for the most part, for the last maybe I don't know, what, 15 to 20 years, it's been DJs usually use a laptop to keep all their music stuff.
- 50:02SPEAKER_08: But now recently there's been a stronger shift towards just using USBs because the CDJs, which is like what we used to DJ, have spots where you can put the USBs and it'll read all the USB music.
- 50:13SPEAKER_08: Now, it's a little bit of a curve because you're so used to just seeing everything in front of you that now when you have USBs, you kind of have to trust that your organization skills are up to par.
- 50:23SPEAKER_08: It's a little bit different.
- 50:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:25SPEAKER_08: So what like how long have you been on USBs and why you like what's the what's the benefit?
- 50:31SPEAKER_08: Besides the fact that you don't gotta carry around a laptop or pay$3,000 every four or five years for a laptop.
- 50:37SPEAKER_08: I love just showing up.
- 50:38SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I show up literally to the club just like this.
- 50:41SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 50:45SPEAKER_03: Boom, got my USB, plug it in, boom, DJ for two hours, and then it's like the IC I see yo.
- 50:50SPEAKER_03: Like it's just a comfort thing.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: It's just a comfort thing.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: It's not only not only that.
- 50:57SPEAKER_03: Like that's that's a huge part of for me.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: But also in my world right now, as an electronic DJ now, kind of because that's what I'm considered now, is there's nobody DJing with computers at all.
- 51:08SPEAKER_03: Like I don't I would look crazy if I go to a festival stage, unless I'm DJ Snake.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: He's literally the only one who comes and brings his laptop and he's still DJ.
- 51:16SPEAKER_03: Other than that, nobody is bringing a laptop.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: You will look crazy if you bring a laptop to like a EDC festival or some shit like that.
- 51:24SPEAKER_03: But it's just it's just weird.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: But for me, once I realize it's really like Cassidy, it's about organization and now it's about preparing your shit.
- 51:34SPEAKER_03: Like, all right, if I'm it's it's a little bit more intricate and difficult when you're doing open format sets, right?
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: Because it's now it's like you gotta bounce through crates.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: You gotta, you gotta, because it's like when you have a lab type you can type in.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: You can type in on a CDJ.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: Like there's a button in, I can type it in, boom, boom, boom, it'll pop up.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: But you it's still maybe a millisecond, a few seconds delay as you would on the laptop.
- 51:55SPEAKER_03: That I agree.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: So for me, is that if I was doing more and more like open format sets, maybe I wouldn't be using a CDJ, I mean uh uh a USB as much, but since my sets are are predominantly uh electronic music and I'm in the same BPM for the most like for two hours at a time, I'm not really bounced to BPMs.
- 52:17SPEAKER_03: But even even this though, like when I did a lot of like Afro dance hall events here in Columbia, I was everybody uses USBs.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: And it's just for me, it was just like once you're in between like a certain two sort, for instance, Afro dance hall, I'm only playing Afro beats and dance hall music.
- 52:35SPEAKER_03: It may be somewhere that can throw.
- 52:36SPEAKER_03: So you're only playing three genres, if that, but majority two.
- 52:39SPEAKER_03: So I'm in within two, two, like two or three folders.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: But it's when you're playing house music, dance hall, hip-hop, all that shit.
- 52:47SPEAKER_03: That's where the USB is a little tricky and you gotta program your USB a little bit better.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: But if you're only playing like Afro music or house music or whatever, USBs is amazing.
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: And it's like I wouldn't.
- 52:58SPEAKER_08: I I've been seeing a lot of the younger, a lot of the younger DJs like, you know, just straight up coming up with USB.
- 53:03SPEAKER_08: And that's the one thing that I always think of.
- 53:05SPEAKER_08: I'm like, yo, but what if all of a sudden you gotta play some record that you didn't think you were gonna need?
- 53:10SPEAKER_08: And I was like, yo, I gotta play this record now.
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: Bro, I had my whole this uh my whole Serato is in here still.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: I can type in a record right now, and and some somebody like, oh shit, something out I need to play a prince record.
- 53:24SPEAKER_03: I have it.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: It's in there.
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: I never played, like I it's in there, but it's this this is just as powerful and it has enough like space that you could have your whole library in it.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: Some people beat a hard drive, but but at the end of the day, you're saying that like the the whatever genre you're really into, it could it it is easier for one than the other.
- 53:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like if you're only playing a certain genre, like it, like for instance, like if you're playing like the for these specialty parties, Afrobeats or Ma Piano or stuff like that, or even a type of house music, if you're within a genre and you're not really bouncing through stay in there.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: You're in there, like USB is amazing.
- 54:02SPEAKER_03: It's just it gets difficult, like I said, if you're playing house music, reggae, dance hall, hip-hop, you know, what's cool, that's when it gets a little crazy because you you're going for multiple crates.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: You can't switch out the USBs like a you know what I mean, like a record.
- 54:16SPEAKER_08: Oh no, but the thing is that they're all like the whole thing is in the USB.
- 54:21SPEAKER_08: It's just the fact when it comes to searching and trying to find it and trying to like in that little ass screen from what I see.
- 54:26SPEAKER_08: It's a whole I think it's a whole type of different things.
- 54:28SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna honestly, I think I'm gonna make the jump to USBs too.
- 54:32SPEAKER_08: I love it.
- 54:32SPEAKER_08: It almost feels like when we have to make the jump from records to CDs, literally, it's the same thing CDs to Serato.
- 54:38SPEAKER_08: You know what I'm saying?
- 54:39SPEAKER_08: Like, why not?
- 54:39SPEAKER_08: But Kevin parties are difficult, guys.
- 54:42SPEAKER_08: Right, that's what I'm saying.
- 54:43SPEAKER_08: Like download this right now.
- 54:44SPEAKER_08: Why do you need to download something on the screen?
- 54:46SPEAKER_08: Here's the thing.
- 54:46SPEAKER_08: So here's the thing I used USB before.
- 54:49SPEAKER_08: I used USB before it became a thing.
- 54:51SPEAKER_08: Like I would I had my whole Serato library, not my whole Servato library, but I want to say like 60%.
- 54:56SPEAKER_08: And and some places, like when I was playing overseas, I think even when I was on Toronto or whatever, I just took my USB and I did it with a USB because I knew I was only gonna be on for like an hour or whatever the case may be.
- 55:07SPEAKER_08: I had it.
- 55:08SPEAKER_08: But like to just to your point, to do something for like two, three hours where it's a a variable, like a I don't know what's gonna happen type thing.
- 55:16SPEAKER_08: I don't know, man.
- 55:17SPEAKER_08: I'm adventurous, I might try it.
- 55:18SPEAKER_08: I'm getting wrestlers like Yanni.
- 55:21SPEAKER_08: And I'm and I'm I'm starting I'm gonna start on the radio because I'm like, hey, why not?
- 55:25SPEAKER_08: See, like why run away from whatever's coming next.
- 55:29SPEAKER_03: And think about it like this like really dissect your sets.
- 55:32SPEAKER_03: Like, think about you're not playing something outrageously crazy differently in each one of your clubs.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: Maybe you might do more of a Latin set in this club, or you might do more of a hip-hop set in this club, but predominantly you're playing the same shit at the end of the day.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: And if you if you just organize your folders enough, you only need to maybe switch between one or two folders if it's like that.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: It's just that in Serrata, you were so accustomed to bringing it.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: We have our RB crate and all these things.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: And that's cool.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: You could do that, but for like power sets where you're going, like you're running it and dropping records seconds and seconds and seconds, you can literally put that and make a folder of like I have a folder for like if I ever do open format sets or whatever, I have like a power set, meaning like this is my set that I'm gonna go boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: That I like I like these four records together all the time.
- 56:19SPEAKER_03: I have another one that I like two, three records that I like to go back to back, and I just mix and match those, depending on the party.
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: Now, do the cue points work the same?
- 56:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: Because you know, I'm cute point cast, I'll be like, Yeah.
- 56:34SPEAKER_03: Exactly the same.
- 56:36SPEAKER_08: All right, let's get off our nerdy shit.
- 56:37SPEAKER_08: Sorry, sorry, buddy.
- 56:38SPEAKER_08: Sorry, let's get off our nerdy shit.
- 56:39SPEAKER_08: Nah, nah, this is what it's about, man.
- 56:42SPEAKER_08: I just and I have another question for Yanni.
- 56:43SPEAKER_08: Like you said, Bugs, we're looking into the future.
- 56:45SPEAKER_08: You just did something recently that caught my attention.
- 56:48SPEAKER_08: I was like, oh, that's dope.
- 56:49SPEAKER_08: Where you're I don't know exactly what it is that you're doing.
- 56:52SPEAKER_08: Maybe you could elaborate more.
- 56:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_08: Where you you put up a video that was kind of like, I feel like you're trying to coach young younger DJs on how to how to um how to move and how to help their career, right?
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: Wait, wait, wait, before you said, but this is part of Yanni's.
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: Like when we have our combos, these are the things, bro, that he'll be like, yo, and if you do this, not only gonna help somebody out, but you can also get a check out of it.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: And then, yo, Yanni be like, Bugs, just get on YouTube and even show motherfuckers how to turn the mic on and off, and somebody'll, you know what I'm saying?
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: So Yanni went from, all right, chicka, dickga, dickga, to, yo, I could educate these people, but I got it, Yanni, yeah, yeah.
- 57:30SPEAKER_03: So this is the thing, right?
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: And we're just going back to how I felt when I when I hit this, when I hit the fan, when shit hit the fan and money wasn't coming in, and I'm like, fuck, I gotta do Airbnb, right?
- 57:40SPEAKER_03: So now think about it like this as uh an electronic music DJ.
- 57:44SPEAKER_03: And I'm I'm grateful where I'm at now.
- 57:46SPEAKER_03: I got a record right now on the number one album in the world.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: I got a I got a collab with Hugo that's number three on the on the album.
- 57:52SPEAKER_03: I got I got a Billboard record that came out.
- 57:55SPEAKER_03: We went with number one on Billboard last year.
- 57:58SPEAKER_03: So is this accolades and things, and I'm not saying that to show off.
- 58:01SPEAKER_03: I'm saying that she's crazy.
- 58:03SPEAKER_03: And I'm going off like this this outside looking in success ladder, right?
- 58:08SPEAKER_03: As a producer now, because this is what I always wanted, right?
- 58:11SPEAKER_03: This remember going from open format DJ, local DJ, to a per a music producer now, and then not only a music producer, now it's like being a a DJ that plays his own music, an electronic DJ now.
- 58:22SPEAKER_03: Like now I'm in a whole different world and different game, you know?
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: So but it it's not as it's not all rainbows and and and all that shit.
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: Like it's difficult because as a brand, I have to say no to a lot of gigs.
- 58:40SPEAKER_03: Like if I'm doing these festivals that are 6,000 people and all these things, I can't go and DJ this local spot in Jersey for a couple hundred bucks or even uh even if it's a$2,000,$1,000 where I just made whatever a couple like quadrupital mount in like a festival.
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: And as a brand, it doesn't look it doesn't look right as a brand.
- 59:02SPEAKER_03: And I have to protect the brand more than just trying to do shit for money, right?
- 59:07SPEAKER_03: So in the past where you I need to fill up a calendar, you know, you guys know like we gotta fill up the calendar.
- 59:14SPEAKER_03: My my April, I mean my August has to look like this, September, or boom, boom.
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: Every weekend I'm DJing and I have to get maybe whatever it is,$1,000 or$800, whatever per show, depending on the day of the week it is, depending on the weekend, if it's a festival week or whatever, I gotta fill that up.
- 59:30SPEAKER_03: But now, as I'm making a shift or I've been making shifts over the past few years, I'm not DJing as much.
- 59:36SPEAKER_03: And it's not because I I I I can't get booked, it's because I have to say no in order to brand myself as a completely brand.
- 59:44SPEAKER_03: And this is from my own experience on how to go about changing different lanes.
- 59:49SPEAKER_03: Because if it's I went from lanes to lanes to lanes, and even from even from that moment where I left to go with Starbucks wow, I have to leave my comfort zone with two different dream jobs that I had to do that.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_03: So, like for me, it's scary, but I've done it before.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_03: I know the I know the other side of success when it comes to taking those.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: Nah, bro, but bro, those are things that you have to do.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_00: Like, simple shit like me going from just L Boogs to Len Boogs, that shit helped.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: Because then corporate America looks at this guy has this.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_00: I know it sounds dumb, but it's like that's a full, that's a full name.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: L Boogs is a guy from around the way.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: And also, like, there was a point, like, nah, bro, I can't.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I can't hold strip clubs.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: What do you mean you're too good for a strip club?
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_00: I'm like, bro, I just can't because I'm trying to tell T-Mobile to hire me for four days, and they don't, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: Like, literally, it's a scary thing, but yo, most of the time, bro, take the fucking jump and just go for it.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_00: I hear what you're saying.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_03: It's literally exactly that.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: And I had to say no, and I tell this, it's funny because I have a bunch of clients and I have a bunch of students now that we talk about this exact topic.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_03: And because they they're in the same position where they're going from open format, local DJ, and they want to become artists one day.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: They want to produce their own music, they want to put out remake, they want to do all the shit.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_03: And it's these are the steps it has to take.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_03: Um, and it goes from you have to start saying no to gigs in order to get the gigs that you want to get to, right?
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_03: So, but that transition period is very hard.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: Saying no to money, like it's hard.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_03: Like, if you're not getting enough gigs, so say like I got five gigs that I could have done, right?
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_03: And I got one gig in the lane that I want to be in, right?
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: And it is the festival stage or this club in Miami or this event I just did in Mexico with 6,000 people, right?
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_03: Say, say I have one of those a month.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_03: Well, for one, now in those events, I could charge way more than I can the local clubs that I was doing.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_03: So, but it's about managing my time and and and money now.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: So now, say like with that festival that I just did, that is the same amount of money I would have made if I did four or five events in the month.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_03: So now I'm DJing less, but I'm charging way more, right?
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_03: But now this is this is this is where it gets this is where it gets difficult because I'll do that event and say I do maybe one or two of those a month, right?
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_03: But I say like whatever, my goal is to like get at least three or four, depending on the city, depending on the country, or whatever.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: So, but say at minimum I do one or two.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_03: Still, within those, it's not like you know, the the the the clubs, the local scene where you can get paid that night.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_03: I'm sure you guys paid corporate shit, but you gotta work out.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_03: You got that 60 days.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_08: You got that net 30, net 60.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, bro.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_03: So this is the majority of the time.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: Everybody you see in these festivals, they're not getting paid that night.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_03: One, they got management, they got agents.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_03: That agent has got that deposit.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_03: You're not getting that money from that time you see them DJ, they're not, you're not, they're not getting that money until a month later, at the earliest.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_03: So now, I so now I have to treat myself like an electronic DJ and work in that system, but also I have to make this transition from open format DJ.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_03: So now there's there's a there's a pocket in here where I'm not making bread.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_03: So now I gotta manage my money right and and I'm doing certain events.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: Sometimes money gets held up.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_03: Like I did this one, I did an event in Toronto with the same club owner.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_03: He did, he has a spot in Miami.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_03: We did some shit, we did a whole package deal.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_03: The bread was amazing, but it took almost two months to get this bread.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: So that's the downpour.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_03: So now I don't want to be at the mercy of these clubs anymore.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_03: I don't want to be at the mercy of these promoters at these events anymore.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_03: I don't want to have to wait for this code to pay me so I can pay my bills.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_03: Hey, what else can I do?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_03: This was like I I started feeling like this within the last year or so, right?
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_03: So I was like, what else what else can I do?
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_03: And I started following these gurus and I started seeing on social media and these things, and then I started seeing things like, yo, if you want to make some money, it was just I saw some dumb shit.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_03: Like, if you want to make some money, just teach.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_03: I was like, and then this guy was like, yo, your knowledge, if you have experience, if you're an expert at anything, people are willing to pay for that.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_03: And I started analyzing that and I started diving into that more and doing more research on the Alex Hormosis of the world, if you guys know who that is, and different like gurus that talk about coaching, even like just any guru you talk about, what they do, what they're doing.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: If you ever see a guru, you've seen them in seminars, you've seen them in in different things, coaching people, right?
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_03: And then I stumbled upon coaches who coach coaches.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_03: So so then I realized, bro, all of us, all of us can do this, right?
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_03: And I just started, I just did this out of a whim.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_03: I had a, you know what it is I had a friend of mine that he lives here in Columbia, and he does his thing, he's he does management, he does social media marketing, things like that.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: And he posted something on social media on some like coaching stuff, and he was like, bro, I just made a certain made such and such.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_03: Look, look at these numbers.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: And I was like, what the fuck?
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_03: He was like, Yeah, I just made that one day and I just posted it because now I'm co- I got two clients and we're doing four or six weeks.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, the fuck.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_03: And I was like, this is after I had already started diving into the knowledge and seeing about coaching and things like that.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_03: And I was like, you know what?
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_03: Let me see.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_03: Let me see, let me just put it a feeler out there.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_03: Because the thing is for me, now having all these years of production, now having all these experiences from going from New York to LA to now Columbia, at the heavy, at both of the last two heavy hitter retreats, I've been in a room with a lot of the DJs and just asking me questions.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_03: Like, yo, what do you what like what what what do you what's your opinion on this?
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_03: Or how do you, I'm on Ableton.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what plugins do you use for this?
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_03: What equipment do you use for that?
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_03: What I'm like, and I'm sitting here and it becomes like a whole TED talk, and I'm talking like, yo, you guys gotta do this and work on your content also, and not about this, and Ableton, and then I'm sitting there like, yo, this is the type of shit I could be teaching.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_03: Like I'm just giving out free game.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_03: Obviously, heavy hitters are my brothers, but I started thinking like this more people out there that could benefit from this knowledge.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_03: And don't have that access.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_03: It's dope.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_03: And I started like two, three months ago, I started just on an Instagram story, a black screen, saying, like, yo, I've been working on this behind the screen behind the scenes.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_03: If you're interested, you know, DM me mentor.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_03: I'm working on Ableton.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_03: I'm working on your content, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_03: If you have anything, bro, I had a shit ton of like DMs.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_03: Like, I had no idea that I didn't even think I was gonna get a DM.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_03: I got a shit ton of DMs on like, yo, what is it?
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_03: Boom, boom, boom.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_03: I did a bunch of research on how much should I charge?
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_03: And I was like, and I did, all right, bet, I'm gonna do it four weeks at this price, and six weeks at this price.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_03: And within I wanna say within 48 hours of me posting that on my story, not even a real post, like within 48 hours, I had like six clients.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_03: Wow, that's crazy.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_03: And I had like six, like basically, and I made basically one client is the amount of money that I would get if I do a local good good New York.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_03: Literally, like it's just that.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_03: And and like one of my clients could pay my rent.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_03: It's it's literally like that.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_03: So then I was like, damn, I need to lean in this more because before I've gave it Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_03: Diversified.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so so now so then I did that whole month.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_03: Remember, mind you, without even promoting it as a real story, without a real like like content plan.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_03: I was just it was just a story, I didn't post it, nothing.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_03: So then now I'm coaching, now I'm really like seeing the the day-to-day on what people what are people's pain points.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_03: That's the most important thing.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_03: What are what aren't these DJs and producers or whoever that that follow us one and then even if they don't follow us, what are DJs or anybody that will want to be in our position?
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_03: And that's all of us.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_03: It's not just me.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_03: Like mine, I have people that want to produce.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_03: I want I have people that that that want to be in an international DJ one day.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_03: For you guys, it could be yo radio, it could be walla events, right?
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_03: It could be you doing everything that it is you doing.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_03: You do you also do a shit ton of shit.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_03: Um, so it's literally that in our experiences, bro.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_03: We have we can't overthink how valuable our experience, and I say ours because it's like, yo, we all could be doing this shit.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_03: It's for me, and I'm I'm a I'm a test to this.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: No, and and and and and and to add to what you're saying, and of course, Cass is saying a diversified shit.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_00: It's true, yo.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: Like the thing is that most people believe, like, I'm a DJ, the end.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_00: Like, nah, fam.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_00: Like, look, I'm looking at the screen, right?
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_00: Yanni is like the thousand things that he just told us.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_00: While as a producer, while as a marketer, while as a DJ, while as a host.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_00: Cass works in a fucking office too.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: He is a DJ.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_00: He's a morning, like, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: Like you said, I host here, I produce here, I fucking, I'm a create, like, I get it.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_00: And then the problem is people stay stuck in that shit.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: And then that's and then when you get labeled that shit, now you're like, why are you calling me that on?
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: I'm like, fam, that's all you've been giving us.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: And like, it's amazing.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: And Yanni, thank you for pulling up today.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_00: Like, holy shit.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah all that shit you said today, I promise you, bro.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: People probably thought you only did that one thing out of the many that you said.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_00: And it's really dope that like you decided, and I know we all do it in our own way, yo.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_00: Let me try this new shit.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_00: Let me try this, that, and the third.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_00: So I got my brother, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_00: Congratulations on everything.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_00: Thank you for the free gems and all of that.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_00: Because me and Yanni, we have our catch-ups once in a while.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm not gonna front.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_00: I always walk away from them.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_00: She's like, I'm gonna do all that shit Yanni just told me.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_00: Like, like, yo, I swear to God, I'd be like, this motherfucker.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: Nah, man, but thank you, my brother.
