- 0:01Speaker 1: All righty, It's Tuesday Morning Show with Preston, Scott and Preston.
- 0:08Speaker 1: He's ose and joining us on the show is US
- 0:13Speaker 1: Congresswoman Kat Camick, Florida's third congressional district.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Cat, how are you good morning? We're doing great. It's
- 0:20Speaker 2: my eight year wedding anniversary this morning.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hey, congratulations, thank you.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah. My husband we woke up and we're like, this
- 0:30Speaker 2: is going about our day, like, oh man, it's our
- 0:32Speaker 2: weddy anniversary.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Of course you're spending the morning with us on the radio.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so he's used to it. I know.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Well, pass along our congrats to your husband as well.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Well done, I will will.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've been sitting somewhat speechless this morning over the latest
- 0:58Speaker 1: revelations from Doge and what Doge is uncovering. Let's start
- 1:06Speaker 1: with four point seven trillion in largely untraceable payments, Kat,
- 1:12Speaker 1: how much is Congress going to I mean, this has
- 1:18Speaker 1: to be a bipartisan You've got to be kidding me right.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Well, quietly, as with many other things like the border
- 1:27Speaker 2: and many of the transgender surgery bills and things, I
- 1:33Speaker 2: get Democrats coming to me quietly saying this is insane.
- 1:37Speaker 2: But they're too scared to speak out because, as we
- 1:39Speaker 2: all know right now, the Democrats are in the middle
- 1:42Speaker 2: of an identity crisis, and they're so adamant that they
- 1:46Speaker 2: have to be against all things Trump and all things
- 1:49Speaker 2: Elon Musk that they can't even bring themselves to say, wow, yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 2: that's a really bad thing that they just found, or
- 1:56Speaker 2: that is that's absolutely insane. One hundred you know, sixty
- 2:01Speaker 2: year olds collecting Social Security is absurd. They are so
- 2:07Speaker 2: committed to this anti Trump, anti Elon, anti Republican mindset
- 2:13Speaker 2: that they can't even bring themselves to say, yeah, this
- 2:17Speaker 2: is this is crazy, We've got to do something. And ultimately,
- 2:20Speaker 2: I think that that is a sign of hey, this
- 2:24Speaker 2: is exactly why you guys lost. You couldn't bring yourself
- 2:26Speaker 2: to the common sense side, and it's why they're going
- 2:30Speaker 2: to continue to lose. It's absurd, absolutely crazy, absurd.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So what does what should Congress do? And let's just
- 2:40Speaker 1: stay focused on the House, that's your world. What can
- 2:44Speaker 1: the House do to support, to codify, to put in
- 2:48Speaker 1: concrete the steps we're taking to uncover the fraud, the waste,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the whatever, and support this action.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Well, you know, last night I was down in Marion County,
- 3:03Speaker 2: one of my awesome counties, and it was our RC
- 3:07Speaker 2: night down there, and I was telling them, I'm incredibly energized,
- 3:12Speaker 2: very excited for all the things that are happening and
- 3:14Speaker 2: the potential for what can happen. But I'm also very
- 3:19Speaker 2: vigilant in that Congress has a way of screwing everything up.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So you know, come March fourteenth, we have to fund
- 3:28Speaker 2: a government because we're still operating under a continuing Resolution,
- 3:32Speaker 2: which is a rubber stamp of Nancy Pelosi spending. And
- 3:36Speaker 2: there have been, you know, based conversations out there saying, hey, Kat,
- 3:39Speaker 2: get ready to vote for a CR. And I've not
- 3:42Speaker 2: supported a CR and I don't intend to start. And
- 3:46Speaker 2: my comment back is, why in the world would we
- 3:50Speaker 2: ever fund the programs that does just went in and
- 3:54Speaker 2: discovered all the fraudulent payments in because literally, what we're
- 3:57Speaker 2: saying is yay, go Dodge, go go go dos. But
- 4:00Speaker 2: then on the backside, we're going to go and refund
- 4:03Speaker 2: all these programs like USAID. Are they crazy? So that
- 4:09Speaker 2: is something to keep keep in mind as Congress is
- 4:13Speaker 2: going through these first and second quarters of funding battles
- 4:16Speaker 2: and reconciliation that we don't fall into the same old trap.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Okay, at the House passed the Halt Fentanyl Act, tell
- 4:22Speaker 1: us about it.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean common sense will pretty much does what
- 4:28Speaker 2: it says. We have been fighting for Gosh, I can't
- 4:32Speaker 2: believe it's now four years since I actually got into
- 4:37Speaker 2: Congress to permanently schedule Sentinel. And you know, I have
- 4:43Speaker 2: debated this bill on the House floor. I have fought
- 4:46Speaker 2: my colleagues on the other side on this and they say, oh,
- 4:49Speaker 2: we can't do that. They said, are you kidding me?
- 4:51Speaker 2: We have one hundred thousand Americans every single year being
- 4:54Speaker 2: poisoned to death. And I don't say that these are overdoses.
- 4:57Speaker 2: These are poisonings because I can't you how many people,
- 5:01Speaker 2: how many families I have met with to say, you know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: we thought that he was going to take an adderall that,
- 5:09Speaker 2: or my daughter thought she was taking a xanax and
- 5:11Speaker 2: it was laced with Sentinel, and they are poisoned to death.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And for whatever reason, sentinel had not been permanently scheduled,
- 5:21Speaker 2: which made the enforcement really really tough. And you know,
- 5:25Speaker 2: I had said, listen, my husband's the first responder. He's
- 5:27Speaker 2: a slap medic and yes, they do carry Sentinel on
- 5:30Speaker 2: the trucks, but it is tightly controlled, highly highly regulated
- 5:33Speaker 2: in EMS. And so the notion that we can't take
- 5:38Speaker 2: action to prevent more death in this country is absurd
- 5:43Speaker 2: and just another example of where the left they just
- 5:47Speaker 2: seem to they cling to some of these crazy ideas.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And I would say often, you know, this drug is
- 5:55Speaker 2: it is an equal opportunity offender. It is an equal
- 5:57Speaker 2: opportunity killer. It doesn't care if you're black or white.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It doesn't care if you're rich or poor. It doesn't
- 6:02Speaker 2: matter if you're a Republican or Democrat. Even secondary contact.
- 6:07Speaker 2: You know, when my husband goes to these calls and
- 6:10Speaker 2: these people have been poisoned, they have it in their system,
- 6:13Speaker 2: whether it's recreational or they thought they were taking a
- 6:16Speaker 2: prescription drug. That contact, it is so dangerous and so
- 6:21Speaker 2: potent that that transfers through skin. I mean, that is
- 6:24Speaker 2: something that we've said often of It's not a matter
- 6:27Speaker 2: of if it's when our first responders began overdosing on
- 6:32Speaker 2: it as well. It's just a common sense thing. And
- 6:35Speaker 2: we have so many people who have tragically been lost
- 6:38Speaker 2: to this, and of course the border crisis is the
- 6:41Speaker 2: driving factor. You have one hundred and sixty factories in
- 6:44Speaker 2: China that are making the precursors for ventanol contracting with
- 6:49Speaker 2: the cartels in Mexico, and we're sitting here on our
- 6:52Speaker 2: hands being like, well, we really can't do anything on
- 6:54Speaker 2: the enforcement front. That's nonsense, that's bs And so this
- 6:58Speaker 2: was a very common sense bill that allows us to
- 7:01Speaker 2: put more power, firepower in the hands of law enforcement
- 7:05Speaker 2: and prosecutors and start going after people who are trafficking
- 7:08Speaker 2: in the trade.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Did Did any Democrats cross over and support it?
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, a few did, which is a departure from where
- 7:19Speaker 2: we were when it's been brought up the two times prior,
- 7:22Speaker 2: where straight down the line not a single Democrat would
- 7:25Speaker 2: support it. But I think some are starting to see
- 7:29Speaker 2: the writing on the wall that Americans are sick and
- 7:31Speaker 2: tired of this in their games. But still I can't
- 7:35Speaker 2: remember the numbers off the top of my head of
- 7:36Speaker 2: what the final vote was, but I mean, we're talking
- 7:39Speaker 2: dozens and dozens of Democrats that refuse to take action
- 7:43Speaker 2: on the bill, and again it's they want to play
- 7:47Speaker 2: politics with people's lives, and I think Americans are well
- 7:50Speaker 2: past the games of the left.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Kat Children have died in airbnbs and verbos that have.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You know, the previous renters had a party and there's
- 8:01Speaker 1: this little flake of this stuff, this powder, and it's
- 8:05Speaker 1: gotten into a child's hand and they've been dead. They're dead.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I mean, and that's that's that's exactly what
- 8:12Speaker 2: I mean. And you talk to those families. I've spoken
- 8:15Speaker 2: to a couple of families that that has happened to
- 8:19Speaker 2: the enforcement mechanism hasn't been there. They are left with
- 8:23Speaker 2: this tragedy and no recourse. And this is some this
- 8:27Speaker 2: is one step to try to make things right, but
- 8:30Speaker 2: it is it's just absolutely in every element of our
- 8:34Speaker 2: society today. And you look at the state of Florida,
- 8:38Speaker 2: across the Panhandle, you have E ten which is a
- 8:40Speaker 2: major corridor for drug trafficking, human trafficking Down seventy five
- 8:45Speaker 2: and ninety five also major corridors. And of course you
- 8:48Speaker 2: look at our districts all of north central Florida that
- 8:51Speaker 2: that that nexus of I ten seventy five. You talk
- 8:55Speaker 2: to the sheriffs and they're like, oh, we're finding bricks
- 8:57Speaker 2: of fetanyl with the stamps of border cartels. They're frinding
- 9:01Speaker 2: them with pill presses because they're intending to distribute in
- 9:05Speaker 2: these major corridors. And what even scarier is they're making
- 9:10Speaker 2: these when they do the pill presses, they make them
- 9:12Speaker 2: look like candy. Yeah, they're making the drugs look like Skittles.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And it's because they're intending to distribute to kids and
- 9:20Speaker 2: they want it to look very kid friendly. This is
- 9:23Speaker 2: just insane. And again it's just you talk to some
- 9:26Speaker 2: of these Democrats behind you know, closed doors, and they're like, yeah,
- 9:30Speaker 2: this is a really bad problem, but they're scared to
- 9:33Speaker 2: speak out because their leadership has told them if you
- 9:35Speaker 2: align with the Republicans, you're done on your committees will
- 9:39Speaker 2: run primary ads against you. And people are just scared
- 9:42Speaker 2: of losing their job. But I'm scared of losing our country.
- 9:45Speaker 2: So it's time that people put the politics aside and
- 9:47Speaker 2: do it's right.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Where can we help you? Where can listeners of this
- 9:51Speaker 1: program help get some things done? What bill needs to
- 9:56Speaker 1: get done that you need some public support.
- 9:59Speaker 2: This is going to be the least sexy topic on
- 10:01Speaker 2: the planet, but it is probably the most important. The
- 10:05Speaker 2: Rains Act. The Rains Act is the largest regulatory reform
- 10:11Speaker 2: effort in American history. It is the Drain the Swamp bill.
- 10:16Speaker 2: It will take on all of the unelected, nameless, faceless
- 10:20Speaker 2: bureaucrats that have spent our money to the tune of
- 10:24Speaker 2: two trillion dollars a year in enforcement and compliance. That's
- 10:28Speaker 2: what it cost us taxpayers. And it basically says, you
- 10:32Speaker 2: guys are no longer in charge, You no longer have
- 10:35Speaker 2: this authority. And it puts that power back into Congress,
- 10:40Speaker 2: which is really where it should have been, because that
- 10:42Speaker 2: is the house of the people, that is the people's house,
- 10:45Speaker 2: and that is where we get our power back. And
- 10:48Speaker 2: so the Rains Act very simple, elegant bills. We just
- 10:52Speaker 2: got it put into the reconciliation process, and so it
- 10:56Speaker 2: has a long way to go, but it's a really good,
- 10:58Speaker 2: important first step. And what people can do is call
- 11:02Speaker 2: up your member of Congress, call your Congress critter, but
- 11:05Speaker 2: then call your senators and demand that they support the
- 11:10Speaker 2: Rains Act in reconciliation. And that's so important that phrase
- 11:14Speaker 2: support the Rains Act in reconciliation because even President Trump
- 11:19Speaker 2: has said, we want the tax cuts, we want all
- 11:21Speaker 2: these things. If we do the regulatory reform that is generational,
- 11:27Speaker 2: that is a change that will get our country back
- 11:30Speaker 2: on track. That gives us a fighting chance at another
- 11:32Speaker 2: two hundred and fifty years of exceptionalism. The Rains Act,
- 11:37Speaker 2: reining in government, draining the swamp. This is the most
- 11:41Speaker 2: important thing that we could do.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Is there a counterpart bill in the Senate?
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah? So I carry the bill in the House. Senator
- 11:51Speaker 2: Ran Paul, he carries it in the Senate. If you
- 11:54Speaker 2: follow Mike Lee on social media, you know he is
- 11:57Speaker 2: very passionate about this bill. Elon has been supportive of it.
- 12:01Speaker 2: President Trump is supportive of it. The Senate parliamentarian is
- 12:05Speaker 2: not so supportive of the bill. And again it's because
- 12:09Speaker 2: this is the bill that takes on the swamp. These
- 12:11Speaker 2: cuts that everyone are talking about. Yes, it is incredibly
- 12:15Speaker 2: important to cut down the size of government, but remember
- 12:18Speaker 2: those are one sat like one time only cuts. The
- 12:22Speaker 2: way to make lasting change in Washington and really drain
- 12:26Speaker 2: the swamps is you have to reform the process that
- 12:29Speaker 2: all this happens through. And right now you have unelected
- 12:32Speaker 2: beercrats that they're the ones that are making the laws,
- 12:35Speaker 2: enforcing the laws, and up until Supreme Court ruled on
- 12:38Speaker 2: Chevron in the Lower Bright case, they were judge and
- 12:41Speaker 2: jury on them too. The Supreme Court case did not
- 12:45Speaker 2: strip these beer crats of their ability to make rules
- 12:48Speaker 2: and regulations. They just said you can't be the final
- 12:51Speaker 2: arbiter on them. They just they pulled us in the ruling. Congress,
- 12:56Speaker 2: this is your turn. Now you need to reassert your
- 12:58Speaker 2: article on authority, institutional right to make the laws. And
- 13:03Speaker 2: so this is our moment. If we don't get the
- 13:06Speaker 2: Rains Act done this Congress, it will be an absolute
- 13:09Speaker 2: crying shame. And so people need to speak out, get
- 13:13Speaker 2: very vocal call senators, call their congressmen and demand that
- 13:17Speaker 2: they support the Rains Acts. This could not be more
- 13:20Speaker 2: important than in this moment.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The President said something that I was shocked by. And
- 13:26Speaker 1: this will be my final question for you, Kat, because
- 13:28Speaker 1: I know you've got to run. He mentioned a balanced
- 13:33Speaker 1: budget in your opinion, will we see an actual budget
- 13:39Speaker 1: get passed in this Congress?
- 13:41Speaker 2: I am hopeful. I am hopeful a balanced budget would
- 13:47Speaker 2: would be a game changer. And I have always supported
- 13:50Speaker 2: a balanced budget amendment, and I think that for folks
- 13:54Speaker 2: like you and I, it's common sense. But they start
- 13:57Speaker 2: doing the actual math and you get a lot of
- 13:59Speaker 2: people who have a lot of special projects and programs
- 14:04Speaker 2: that their districts have become very dependent on. And this
- 14:08Speaker 2: is where everyone starts getting into protectionist mode of oh, well,
- 14:12Speaker 2: we can't cut that, and we can't do this, and
- 14:13Speaker 2: we can't do that, folks. This is why I have
- 14:18Speaker 2: never had earmarks as part of our office policy. I
- 14:22Speaker 2: have said we are not doing ear marks. You either
- 14:24Speaker 2: earmark every single line item in the budget, or you
- 14:29Speaker 2: go in and you create your your budget, you do
- 14:31Speaker 2: your twelve appropriations, and there should be no ear marks.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Why is it that some districts are rewarded for their
- 14:38Speaker 2: member complying in Washington where others aren't. It's wrong. And
- 14:43Speaker 2: so we have a massive deficit that we need to overcome.
- 14:46Speaker 2: We have a thirty seven trillion dollar national debt that
- 14:49Speaker 2: it's the interest on our debt alone has outpaced our
- 14:52Speaker 2: defense spending at a time when Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela,
- 14:58Speaker 2: and North Korea have formed the new app axis. And
- 15:02Speaker 2: it's just a scary time. And we're sitting here twiddling
- 15:05Speaker 2: our thumbs, rearranging the deck chairs on the deck of
- 15:07Speaker 2: the Titanic. This is not a time to be focusing
- 15:11Speaker 2: on who's bringing home the bacon into their district. This
- 15:14Speaker 2: is about how do we get the country back on track.
- 15:16Speaker 2: And so I am very much in favor of a
- 15:18Speaker 2: budget balance, a balanced budget amendment. It's just going to
- 15:22Speaker 2: take political courage, and we're still a little short. I'm
- 15:24Speaker 2: not in Washington.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well, at least you got some Kat, Happy anniversary again
- 15:29Speaker 1: and thank you for the time. We'll talk again next month.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Appreciate you have a good one thing.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Thank you. US Congresswoman Kat Camick with us here in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the Morning Show with Preston Scott
