- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The
- 0:06Speaker 1: rex was not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You love sandwiches? Huh, Let's go to eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Wow that Prime Time baby. I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 1: Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 3: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He cast them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 3: You're listening just to Gatson Company pleased to have Salakana
- 0:33Speaker 3: back with us. Check out his podcast wherever you get
- 0:35Speaker 3: your podcast. New episodes are out right now. I saw
- 0:37Speaker 3: one this morning.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sal How about that?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, we do one every day of the week. So
- 0:41Speaker 2: it's a lot of work, but it's a lot of
- 0:42Speaker 2: fun as well.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Are you enjoying it?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm getting there, I think, well, to be honest, you know,
- 0:50Speaker 2: I love radio and how much I put into radio,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and then I think there is an adjustment to do.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's just different when you're not live and figuring it
- 0:59Speaker 2: out on top of a grinding TV schedule. I'm just
- 1:02Speaker 2: trying to I'm getting there, and baseball is going to
- 1:04Speaker 2: make it easier. Because I love talking about baseball and
- 1:07Speaker 2: reacting to the games. But I don't know if I
- 1:09Speaker 2: could say that I love it yet as much as
- 1:11Speaker 2: I love doing radio, i'mtill trying to get acclimated. Did
- 1:13Speaker 2: it take me a while to do it?
- 1:15Speaker 3: It took me a while, yes, But so I think
- 1:18Speaker 3: what you're missing is just the high wire act that
- 1:21Speaker 3: is live radio, the ability to take phone calls, get
- 1:24Speaker 3: feedback to what it is you are saying. And yes,
- 1:27Speaker 3: those are some of the things I miss.
- 1:29Speaker 1: But I was more.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Prepared for it because Dan and I hadn't taken a
- 1:31Speaker 3: phone call for like seven years, and so I just knew,
- 1:36Speaker 3: like I knew how to fill time and fill it
- 1:39Speaker 3: pretty easily. But it is antiseptic. It feels lonely. It
- 1:42Speaker 3: feels like there's nothing. There's no one to talk to
- 1:44Speaker 3: other than Taylor. That's it for me, right.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So I have my guy, my producer, a Bottle Booms,
- 1:48Speaker 2: and even him, I was like, I didn't know if
- 1:51Speaker 2: he was gonna be any good or not. I mean,
- 1:52Speaker 2: he's trying to help me out behind the scenes. So
- 1:54Speaker 2: that's the other part of it. I could go for ten, fifteen,
- 1:57Speaker 2: twenty minutes on my own but that I want to
- 2:00Speaker 2: hear one person talking for twenty minutes. Also is the
- 2:04Speaker 2: interaction with him working. He's a twenty two year old kid,
- 2:06Speaker 2: like it's not sure. Essentially he's learning too so but
- 2:09Speaker 2: it's been fun.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, has he been good? Is he getting better?
- 2:12Speaker 1: What's going on there?
- 2:13Speaker 3: It doesn't seem like you're terribly confident in your producer here.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I actually do love him. He's better than I thought
- 2:19Speaker 2: on the air. I didn't care about that. I didn't
- 2:21Speaker 2: want to bring him in because beyond the air stuff.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Although I'm learning how important that is, because you use
- 2:26Speaker 2: Taylor or Mikey like you need. I don't want to
- 2:29Speaker 2: talk to myself. I want to talk to somebody else.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It's boring talking to myself. I did that, I did
- 2:33Speaker 2: it for twenty years. I don't want to do that anymore.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So it is important. I do think he's definitely getting better.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I have to, you know, scold him a little bit.
- 2:40Speaker 2: He's a twenty two year old kid, but he's definitely
- 2:42Speaker 2: getting better.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yes, Stude, it seems like bottle Boom's' biggest problem. When
- 2:46Speaker 4: I listened to the Salacada show, Sao will ask him
- 2:49Speaker 4: a question and bottle booms. Will talk about anything but
- 2:53Speaker 4: the question that sound just asked me.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I love him. You get him on the pod, he
- 3:02Speaker 1: doesn't listen.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I go no, no, no, no, Like, don't think about what you
- 3:05Speaker 2: were going to say. Answer the freaking question. Like it's
- 3:07Speaker 2: very simple, just listen and have a conversation.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but sometimes he'll derail it and take you to
- 3:12Speaker 3: a very special place.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It's Billy Gill. He's Billy Gil.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Billy Gill never listened to a word I said and
- 3:17Speaker 3: just took the show wherever the fuck he wanted to.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's exactly what he's doing.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Sometimes I cannot believe. I'm a Yankee fan and a
- 3:27Speaker 3: Mets fan here at sal Taylor.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Do you agree with this? Feels like there's gonna be
- 3:32Speaker 1: a Subway series.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Man, those two teams in their first two games. Yeah,
- 3:38Speaker 4: it's hard to find teams that look better than them.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's one of one sixty two, I mean, but it's
- 3:44Speaker 3: not unrealistic.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I mean the Yankees, especially in the American League. The
- 3:49Speaker 2: Yankees are always great. They were in the World twos
- 3:51Speaker 2: a couple of years ago. I don't think anybody's a
- 3:53Speaker 2: real threat. The Mets would be the hard part because
- 3:55Speaker 2: they always lose. But I would take out the favorite.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's come on two in a row? Ready, they get
- 4:01Speaker 2: really gonna win three in a row? I don't know
- 4:03Speaker 2: about the.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Mets would be the hard part because of the Dodgers.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I would say the Mets can get there. The Mets
- 4:07Speaker 3: can get to the playoffs. It's just the Dodgers are overwhelming,
- 4:09Speaker 3: you know.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Right, But at some point, I'm a low of averages guy.
- 4:13Speaker 2: At some point, like they've already won two and you
- 4:15Speaker 2: give them credit. They always gonna be the best team
- 4:16Speaker 2: on paper. They spend the money, they have, the guys,
- 4:18Speaker 2: they developed players. Some point, the favorite's gonna get knocked off,
- 4:21Speaker 2: and then why not the Mets outside. So if I
- 4:24Speaker 2: eliminate the Dodgers from the equation, which is the obvious,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the Mets have as good a chance, if not better
- 4:29Speaker 2: than anybody out the Phillies, the Cubs, the Braves, the Giants,
- 4:32Speaker 2: whoever you throw it in.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Ye Stu, I was.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I was sitting at home watching the Yankee game, and
- 4:38Speaker 4: in a moment of transparency with the audience, I was like,
- 4:42Speaker 4: I've been complaining a lot about this Yankee team this offseason,
- 4:46Speaker 4: and then I'm watching the game, and I'm like, man,
- 4:48Speaker 4: this Yankee team is pretty good.
- 4:53Speaker 1: They're always good. Tailor.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I mean, I was telling texta tailor, hey, leave my
- 4:58Speaker 2: guy Booty alone here. He was all upset in the beginning,
- 5:00Speaker 2: then he's fired off after the Yankees go on that barrage.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They're good. And wouldn't it be ironic that in the offseason,
- 5:07Speaker 2: like two years ago they traded for Sodo. So it's like, hey,
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yankees got Soto. Last year was they lose Soto? But
- 5:13Speaker 2: then plan B pivot Freed and Bellinger and others. Everybody
- 5:17Speaker 2: loved that and Devin Williams. This year it's like, hey,
- 5:19Speaker 2: they didn't do anything. They stay status quo, stay in
- 5:22Speaker 2: the course, running it back. This will be the year
- 5:24Speaker 2: where fans complain about the off season, but watch the
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yankees go out there and win the World Series.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 5:30Speaker 3: So you were telling me before we started recording here,
- 5:33Speaker 3: I didn't watch Opening Day. We were on the air
- 5:36Speaker 3: during Mets Opening Day, and so I just became aware
- 5:41Speaker 3: of the box national anthem and a bird dying in
- 5:44Speaker 3: the outfield.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So can you explain it?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Because you were telling me before and I couldn't really
- 5:49Speaker 3: pay attention because we were doing a live radio show.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Well, think about it. If the Mets go down to
- 5:53Speaker 2: nothing and they're facing pole schemes, you have the guy
- 5:57Speaker 2: butcher the anthem. If you haven't heard that, I didn't
- 5:59Speaker 2: see a lot.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I saw it on and I.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Saw it on social media. It was as bad. He
- 6:03Speaker 2: just he forgot the words and he saw to repeat words.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So a botch anthem down to nothing against Skeens, and
- 6:09Speaker 2: then a bird fell on the album. I don't know
- 6:11Speaker 2: how that one happened, but I just know there was
- 6:13Speaker 2: a dead bird and the crowd is chanting a young
- 6:15Speaker 2: Carson Bench making his major league debut to pick it up,
- 6:19Speaker 2: Pick it up, pick it up. He said after the game.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I want nothing to do with that dead bird, and
- 6:23Speaker 2: I don't blame him. But the Mets overcame all those
- 6:26Speaker 2: things and still one. Maybe it's their year.
- 6:28Speaker 3: They overcame a terrible national anthem, a bird dying in
- 6:32Speaker 3: the outfield.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And Skens.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, definite in early deficits to Skeens that if that
- 6:38Speaker 2: isn't a sign, ste I don't know what is.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You know what sold.
- 6:46Speaker 4: So there's so much hype around Carson Bench. Take me
- 6:50Speaker 4: through your viewing experience when you watch him hit that
- 6:53Speaker 4: home run and kind of validate the reasons why the
- 6:55Speaker 4: Mets called him up and named him their starting outfielder.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Here's what I want. I want to say, though, like
- 7:01Speaker 2: fans already, I was getting tax legit. I got two
- 7:04Speaker 2: texts from Met fans yesterday. This is after the initial
- 7:07Speaker 2: they're down to nothing, the season's over. It was they
- 7:10Speaker 2: should retire Bene's number when they retire Beltron's number, and
- 7:13Speaker 2: the other one saying that Ben is the new Alonso.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Forget Pete Alonso. Now Bene is the homegrown guy. There's
- 7:18Speaker 2: always that over inflation of the homegrown guy. What I
- 7:21Speaker 2: saw was he mistracked two balls in the outfield. He
- 7:25Speaker 2: looked like he more belongs on your softball team than
- 7:27Speaker 2: he did with the New York Mets. On those two
- 7:29Speaker 2: Luckily they both went over the fence, so it didn't matter.
- 7:32Speaker 2: He struck out his first two at bats, but then
- 7:34Speaker 2: he started to gain composure. He walked and then hit
- 7:37Speaker 2: that laser beam home run.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So I like that.
- 7:39Speaker 2: You saw growth from a rookie within one individual game.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I'm not ready to say he's gonna be great yet.
- 7:46Speaker 2: By the way, he's also the eight hitter. So the
- 7:47Speaker 2: Mets doing the right thing by not throwing him to
- 7:49Speaker 2: the Wolves, saying he's going to be the savior and
- 7:52Speaker 2: hit third or fourth or whatever. It may be. The
- 7:53Speaker 2: fact that he could be eighth kind of fly under
- 7:55Speaker 2: the radar and grew even within his first game. I
- 7:58Speaker 2: think those are.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Good signs to New York. Doesn't do is taper expectations.
- 8:03Speaker 4: So when I'm watching Carson Binge, I'm thinking how the
- 8:06Speaker 4: Mets fan must be feeling.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And that's how I came up with this song for
- 8:10Speaker 1: said Carson Binge, Oh really okay.
- 8:12Speaker 5: First pitch, bench hits it in the air to right
- 8:14Speaker 5: field fairly deep. O hernback hit the wall and it's God.
- 8:18Speaker 5: He headed off the canopy and the right field bullpen.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Carson Binge makes his first major league hit, a home run.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Congratulations to Carson Beinge as he gets an enthusiastic pat
- 8:32Speaker 5: on the back from the third base coach Tim Leeper,
- 8:35Speaker 5: an aggressive fist month from Francisco Alvarez, and they're.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Willing to congratulate the kid.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And the Mets dugout Carson being his first major league's
- 8:45Speaker 5: knock ken homer, and the Mets take a ten to
- 8:48Speaker 5: five me.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Benge the mets Stone need to look no more. We
- 9:05Speaker 6: just found while we were looking for.
- 9:10Speaker 7: With the swing nicolarone. He'll crush it in the zone
- 9:19Speaker 7: and you might bench will see you've got us filled.
- 9:24Speaker 2: With clean.
- 9:31Speaker 7: Benge.
- 9:32Speaker 6: You sent that fall into the end.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Benge.
- 9:39Speaker 7: You crushed that thing up out of that. If you
- 9:47Speaker 7: check out Benjisty line, you will like what you find.
- 9:54Speaker 7: The holye will soon know it's.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Bench in one.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So it is beautiful, your fucking producer, do that? I mean,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I got that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I got to put bottle booms to work. Oh my god, man,
- 10:17Speaker 2: so bad.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It's good.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Not what I was expecting.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I mean, I want that on the radio show and
- 10:26Speaker 3: a loop today.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Put the lighters up, of course, put the lighters up.
- 10:33Speaker 3: What did you make of what'd you make ano they're
- 10:36Speaker 3: getting killed of the Netflix coverage at NBC.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I guess I don't care about this stuff. I know
- 10:42Speaker 1: others do.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Most people just care about the fucking games my team
- 10:46Speaker 3: they're playing on, what channel? I'll be there when the
- 10:48Speaker 3: game starts. But what did you make of the Netflix
- 10:52Speaker 3: coverage of Opening Night?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I'm more in line with you that I try not
- 10:55Speaker 2: to care about these things. Actually I didn't even the
- 10:57Speaker 2: score bug was a big issue. I didn't realize it.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Taylor texts me, He's like, dude, the score bull. You
- 11:01Speaker 2: need a magnifying glass to see what's going on. My
- 11:04Speaker 2: issue with the Netflix was that. And it's not just Netflix,
- 11:07Speaker 2: like we get they're going to promote themselves, right, but
- 11:10Speaker 2: it felt like it was just an infomercial as opposed
- 11:13Speaker 2: to a baseball game. It was a commercial for Netflix
- 11:16Speaker 2: and then a baseball game going on. So there was
- 11:17Speaker 2: some like I don't want to be man Dog Grusso
- 11:20Speaker 2: and old man yelling at the clouds just to go
- 11:22Speaker 2: nuts about it. I just care about watching the game.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I don't like the fact though, that they forced so
- 11:27Speaker 2: much stuff down our throat outside of the game. I'm
- 11:30Speaker 2: a purist. I want to just watch the baseball game.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I understand that. But they paid for the right to
- 11:34Speaker 3: do whatever the fuck they want. I mean, and that's
- 11:37Speaker 3: the deal. And Rob Manford, you can kill them all
- 11:39Speaker 3: you want, but his job is to grow the game,
- 11:42Speaker 3: to grow the money around the game, to grow the pie.
- 11:45Speaker 3: And Netflix is paying so much money and they're not
- 11:48Speaker 3: getting a ton They're really not when you look at
- 11:50Speaker 3: it at Rob Manford.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Say what you will about him. I know a lot
- 11:53Speaker 1: of people don't like.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Him, but he has done a tremendous job as the
- 11:57Speaker 3: commissioner of Major League Baseball.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Baseball is thriving in every possible.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Way, including the television rights, which you know, and streaming rights,
- 12:06Speaker 3: which are vastly important to the business of Major League
- 12:08Speaker 3: Baseball in any sport for that matter.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Manford might have been my biggest issue with the broadcast
- 12:12Speaker 2: because it really didn't have anything to do with like
- 12:13Speaker 2: the bells and whistles or whatever they were shoving down
- 12:15Speaker 2: our throw like people go nuts about Jamis Winston. I
- 12:18Speaker 2: thought he was maybe the most entertaining part of the game.
- 12:20Speaker 2: The game was a snooze fest after the Yanks scored
- 12:22Speaker 2: those runs early, but they had Manford in the booth
- 12:24Speaker 2: for half an inning and they didn't even get anything
- 12:27Speaker 2: out of them. And that's maybe less on Manford and Netflix,
- 12:31Speaker 2: although it's on the announcers there that were in the booth.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But I'm with you more inline with you, Stu. I'm
- 12:35Speaker 2: not gonna go nuts about it. It's one game, and
- 12:37Speaker 2: you're right. Netflix can do what they want. They paid
- 12:39Speaker 2: for the rights. They're going to promote the hell out
- 12:40Speaker 2: of their product.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yes, it's their rights, not yours. People, they can do
- 12:44Speaker 3: with them what they will. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 12:46Speaker 4: So when I'm watching that Yankees season opener in San Francisco,
- 12:52Speaker 4: they always cut to the kayaking and McCovey cove, and
- 12:55Speaker 4: I'm watching that thinking that's not something I think I
- 12:59Speaker 4: would ever want to do.
- 12:59Speaker 2: It doesn't look appealing at all. Meanwhile, it's always cold.
- 13:04Speaker 2: It's always freezing cold out there. You can't see anything.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I mean, kayaking for me in general not good. Kayaking
- 13:12Speaker 2: at a ball game really seems ridiculous. And Marry Bounds
- 13:15Speaker 2: isn't playing. You aren't getting those those you know, mccuffy
- 13:17Speaker 2: cove shots out there, but so many people still do it.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I think it's insane.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think what we're railing against, as you
- 13:25Speaker 3: pointed out, sal is just.
- 13:26Speaker 1: The idea of kayaking.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It doesn't matter where it is, mccoffey Cove, any cove.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I don't care what covid is. I don't want to kayak.
- 13:34Speaker 3: It looks a golf thing. Write too much work. I
- 13:37Speaker 3: take a boat. You want to go on a boat
- 13:39Speaker 3: in mcuvey cove, Sign me up. The kayaking little speedboat
- 13:44Speaker 3: around the cove.
- 13:47Speaker 1: So much easier.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I mean, I don't want to fucking work to catch
- 13:51Speaker 3: a baseball.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I mean, seriously, that's one of those things. I think
- 13:55Speaker 2: you do it just to say you did it, not
- 13:57Speaker 2: really for the injury. Who's enjoying that is?
- 14:01Speaker 3: So when you drop that story out at a bar
- 14:03Speaker 3: that you kayak McCovey cove, who the fuck is impressed
- 14:06Speaker 3: with that?
- 14:08Speaker 2: It's a good point. I saw this morning on social media.
- 14:11Speaker 2: The Yankee like Meredith Moroccovitch who does the games on Yes,
- 14:14Speaker 2: Susan Waldman does the games obviously legendary voice on the fan.
- 14:17Speaker 1: They're out there.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Taking pics to getting ready to kayak in McCovey comb
- 14:21Speaker 2: Come on, it's like the thing to do if you
- 14:24Speaker 2: go to a game. Want no part of that.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's so funny.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I always questioned the people, even when Bonds was hitting
- 14:32Speaker 3: the home runs out there, I questioned the people, like,
- 14:33Speaker 3: why are you doing this? It cannot be that important
- 14:36Speaker 3: for you to grab a baseball to be on television
- 14:40Speaker 3: that you're willing to not go to the game and
- 14:42Speaker 3: kayak around the cove waiting for a ball to drop it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It's fucking sad get a life.
- 14:49Speaker 4: That st you mentioned saying it to somebody in a bar.
- 14:52Speaker 4: That would be one of the lamest things you could
- 14:54Speaker 4: say to somebody in a bar.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The other one I.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Saw recent amount I means the other and I saw.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Recently when it comes to a bar, was John Rothstein,
- 15:03Speaker 4: the college basketball reporter. Dylan Darling hits the buzzer beater
- 15:07Speaker 4: for Saint John's Kansas, John roth sweets out, Dylan Darling
- 15:11Speaker 4: will never have to pay for another drink in New
- 15:13Speaker 4: York City ever again. And now I'm imagine Dylan Darling
- 15:16Speaker 4: going to a bar being like, Hey, I'm Dylan Darling
- 15:18Speaker 4: from Saint John's and a bartender going, I don't give
- 15:21Speaker 4: a fuck who's walk.
- 15:24Speaker 1: But I kayak around the code.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah who, Maybe Dylan Darling that's kayaking the code that
- 15:32Speaker 2: it wasn't even a big game, like the big deal
- 15:35Speaker 2: to go to the Sweet sixty. If Dylan Darling did
- 15:38Speaker 2: that in the NCAA Final, he'd be having to pay
- 15:40Speaker 2: for drinks probably the next month in New York. Nobody
- 15:43Speaker 2: knows who Dylan Darling is. Let alone the Sweet Sea.
- 15:46Speaker 3: He's still getting He's still getting carted at bars.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That's a little bit of a reach.
- 15:54Speaker 3: He's never paying for a drink to get in New
- 15:56Speaker 3: York City. New York City, don't give a fuck.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I mean, I average judge hit sixty three home runs,
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yankees pull on the next game the Yankee fish. Boy,
- 16:06Speaker 2: you think we care about Dylan Darling and a worthless
- 16:09Speaker 2: bucket did to get to the Sweet sixteen?
- 16:11Speaker 3: Come on, yeah, nobody, nobody cares. He's paying for drinks
- 16:14Speaker 3: forever unless he does than that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It was funny. I was laughing with Taylor yesterday.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Because Skeen's got bombed, and I was laughing at the
- 16:23Speaker 3: fact that people are going to start questioning Skeen's involvement
- 16:26Speaker 3: in the World Baseball Classic. It's like, it's so ridiculous,
- 16:29Speaker 3: all of this right, look at you.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I don't even think about that at the next little
- 16:34Speaker 2: points too, you're on top. Didn't even think about that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I'm at your producer's job. But he's talking about other shit.
- 16:39Speaker 2: So, I mean, you would think it would help Skeens
- 16:42Speaker 2: getting getting acclimated of the WBC camping excuse that he's rusty,
- 16:45Speaker 2: but no, the Mets got to him. That grinded out
- 16:48Speaker 2: Mets line.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Up right has schoobol pitch yet, Taylor, he has he
- 16:51Speaker 3: thrown yet he did pitch yesterday.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I forget what grade. You know how I know this.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm on set at SNY one of the guys who
- 16:58Speaker 2: will run on the camera as a bet on school
- 17:01Speaker 2: Bawl to go like under seven strikeouts. And right before
- 17:05Speaker 2: I hear him murmuring, he's like, oh, yeah, they took
- 17:07Speaker 2: school Ball out of the game. And I'm like, what
- 17:08Speaker 2: are you talking about. He's like, oh, I had a
- 17:09Speaker 2: bet that he was gonna go under seven strikeouts. So
- 17:12Speaker 2: I believe he did pitch yesterday and he got taken
- 17:14Speaker 2: out of the game at some point.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yes, dude, so Scooba pitched six scoreless innings.
- 17:23Speaker 1: That conversation is coming. I'm surprised it hasn't.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Happened already, and I guess I'm the guy getting it
- 17:27Speaker 3: off the ground. School Ball did not pitch in the
- 17:30Speaker 3: World Baseball Classic. We crushed him for it. He goes
- 17:33Speaker 3: out and gets a win, Skins get shelled by the Mets.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Unbelievable.
- 17:37Speaker 2: See tell her you're all about USA. Look at school
- 17:40Speaker 2: Ball doing the right thing, being ready and prepared for
- 17:42Speaker 2: his team, and Skeins let us let his group down.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Stu, it might be a USA curse right now
- 17:47Speaker 4: because Aaron Judge and the opener went zero for five
- 17:50Speaker 4: with four strikeouts. Oogan Webb got absolutely rocked by the Yankees.
- 17:55Speaker 4: It's not really looking too good for Team USA right now.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But you know who went three for four Roman Anthony.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Wow, I forgot about that.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Actually, Sally, are you into the NCAA Tournament.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It's hard not to be into this East region tonight, man.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I'll exactly. I'll be into the Saint John's Duke, although
- 18:12Speaker 2: I don't think that Saint John's has a chance. I
- 18:14Speaker 2: know it's March madness. Anything can happen. I just don't
- 18:16Speaker 2: think Saint John's has enough shooting to compete with Duke.
- 18:20Speaker 2: And I'll be into the Yukon Michigan State as well.
- 18:22Speaker 2: You're talking about two great head coaches, so I like
- 18:25Speaker 2: that part of that part of the bracket.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yes, how's your bracket? Do it? Have you participated?
- 18:31Speaker 2: I did not. I didn't fall out a bracket. I've
- 18:33Speaker 2: been watching it more than I don't know why I
- 18:35Speaker 2: didn't fla out a bracket. I'm mad at myself. I
- 18:36Speaker 2: used to love college. I think I need to get divorced.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I didn't flaught of Bratt. It's my wife. I gotta
- 18:42Speaker 2: blame more. Since I got married, I kind of like
- 18:44Speaker 2: things that I used to love, they're not there anymore.
- 18:47Speaker 1: What's going on here?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I get a new thing, your wife, a house,
- 18:49Speaker 2: a kid, whatever. But I missed it with a bracket.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're supposed to replace the love of your
- 18:55Speaker 3: bracket with.
- 18:56Speaker 1: The love of your wife and your child. I mean,
- 19:00Speaker 1: it's not working.
- 19:01Speaker 2: March sandness. I miss I missed doing the bracket, but no,
- 19:06Speaker 2: I got the Johnny's and Kansas got We were doing
- 19:09Speaker 2: that when I did the podcast where I'm like, oh,
- 19:10Speaker 2: they don't have the great coaches anymore, you know, like
- 19:12Speaker 2: Bill self, I forgot self was even coaching still right
- 19:15Speaker 2: with some of those guys. But I wish I did
- 19:17Speaker 2: fill out a bracket because I do really enjoy this
- 19:19Speaker 2: time of year with the March madness.
- 19:21Speaker 3: So you know, you can't say that. You can't say
- 19:23Speaker 3: that Saint John's, you can't say it with any sort
- 19:25Speaker 3: of conviction because it's the Sweet sixteen, and you know,
- 19:28Speaker 3: any of these teams in a one game scenario can
- 19:31Speaker 3: beat the other team, especially when Rick Patino is your coach,
- 19:34Speaker 3: and so you can't say that Saint John's will not
- 19:36Speaker 3: beat Duke.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I mean, that's easy, but usually the way that a
- 19:41Speaker 2: team would upset is shooting, right, Like, Okay, hey they
- 19:45Speaker 2: get hot, March mad, is anything happen. That's where Saint
- 19:48Speaker 2: John's like, they have been a bad shooting team all
- 19:50Speaker 2: year long. They've been a little bit better through the
- 19:52Speaker 2: first two games of the tournament, but I think it's
- 19:54Speaker 2: gotta be even better than that. They were fortunate to
- 19:56Speaker 2: get away with with Kansas. They could not score neither team,
- 20:00Speaker 2: So I think Duke. I think Saint John's a great
- 20:02Speaker 2: defensive team and have an all time great head coach,
- 20:04Speaker 2: So by that aspect, you say, maybe they have a
- 20:06Speaker 2: puncher's chance. I just don't think they could score the
- 20:08Speaker 2: basketball or shoot the basketball well enough to really compete
- 20:11Speaker 2: with Duke.
- 20:11Speaker 3: We've discussed this a bit on the show, but you'll
- 20:14Speaker 3: I think you'll laugh at this.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Uh.
- 20:16Speaker 3: You know just how polarizing Rick Patino was at one
- 20:20Speaker 3: point in his career and now he's beloved, Like Taylor
- 20:23Speaker 3: is saying, Oh, I can listen to Patino tell stories
- 20:26Speaker 3: and all day long.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I love him. I want them to be my coach.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Everyone fucking loves Rick Patino now because everything's out in
- 20:32Speaker 3: the open.
- 20:33Speaker 2: You know, we'll we talk about like the the off
- 20:36Speaker 2: the court issues.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Or the reason he was polarizing was some of the
- 20:39Speaker 3: off the court stuff.
- 20:40Speaker 1: He felt like he had an advantage.
- 20:41Speaker 3: He was giving suitcases of cash. He was doing it
- 20:43Speaker 3: behind the scenes. Now everyone is doing is giving suitcases
- 20:47Speaker 3: of cash. They're doing it right in front of the camera,
- 20:49Speaker 3: and no one gives a shit, and it makes Patino
- 20:51Speaker 3: a more lovable and likable dude.
- 20:53Speaker 2: You know, how about how about the fact that he
- 20:55Speaker 2: legit went rebuilt himself back up, going to Iona and yes,
- 21:01Speaker 2: or he went overseas whatever, and then coming back to
- 21:03Speaker 2: Iowa and building himself back up, getting to the level
- 21:05Speaker 2: where and knowing that Saint John's in New York Patino,
- 21:08Speaker 2: former Knicks coach, a New York legend. I think that
- 21:11Speaker 2: helps as well. And you're right, he's been open and
- 21:13Speaker 2: accountable and the way the game has changed right now
- 21:15Speaker 2: where everybody's doing the same thing. So good for Patino
- 21:17Speaker 2: getting Saint John's back to promise. I personally like him.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I hope look, I hope they beat the spot off
- 21:22Speaker 2: of Duke. I can't stand Duke. Who likes Duke? I
- 21:25Speaker 2: just don't think it's realistic.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That's a great question. Taylor put it on the pole.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Who likes Duke? You? Possible responses could be, but no
- 21:36Speaker 1: one likes Duke.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I can't stand Duke. I want Saint John's to go
- 21:39Speaker 3: to the Final four. I think it'd be a great story.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I want them to win the National Championship.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Speaking of.
- 21:45Speaker 3: How disarray your marriage is and how much you're trying
- 21:49Speaker 3: to not spend time with your wife and with your family,
- 21:53Speaker 3: I am told here by Taylor that you are going
- 21:55Speaker 3: to not one, but two games in a single day.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Oh my god, that is going to great lengths to
- 22:00Speaker 1: void changing a diaper, hanging out with your wife. I mean,
- 22:03Speaker 1: what's the matter with you?
- 22:04Speaker 2: It was supposed to be one game, just the Islanders game.
- 22:06Speaker 2: We got invited by the Islanders go hang out in
- 22:08Speaker 2: the owner suite. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 22:10Speaker 1: What do you get invited by the Islanders? What does
- 22:12Speaker 1: that mean? Well?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Well, wait, Geo, back in the day when we went
- 22:15Speaker 2: a couple of times from the fan, he took me
- 22:17Speaker 2: the Islanders owner's suite and then I became friendly with
- 22:19Speaker 2: the guys in there, and then we became I would
- 22:21Speaker 2: set up a thing with the fan guys. We'd go,
- 22:24Speaker 2: I don't know if you notice, like, you know, don't
- 22:26Speaker 2: don't want work at the fan.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I kind of got.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Fired from the van. The Islander guys reached out and said, hey,
- 22:34Speaker 2: we love to have you anytime. So now I'm gonna go.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I'm going to take my producer and whatever and go
- 22:38Speaker 2: to the game. But it started out as just the
- 22:39Speaker 2: Islanders thing, and then I was like, Wow, the Mets
- 22:42Speaker 2: play at four. They're in the same vicinity. I get
- 22:45Speaker 2: to stay away from what goes on here. Yeah, for Saturday,
- 22:51Speaker 2: go have the play date with their friends. And I
- 22:53Speaker 2: don't want anything to do with that right there, Yes,
- 22:59Speaker 2: right about it hour and twenty away from Jersey, So
- 23:01Speaker 2: you attack on the top.
- 23:04Speaker 1: From Union over the city will be about an hour
- 23:07Speaker 1: and a half.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that's true. That is true. The traffic I'm
- 23:10Speaker 2: not looking for, dude. The parking, that's a major issue.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So the Islander shouldn't be the issue. But at City Field,
- 23:15Speaker 2: because they're doing all these renovations and trying to build
- 23:17Speaker 2: a casino and a lot of stuff that's been an issue.
- 23:19Speaker 2: But yes, I'm sure I'm going going five miles will
- 23:22Speaker 2: take fifty minutes, no problem.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I couldn't.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I mean, the idea of going to a game after
- 23:27Speaker 3: I've already been to a game, yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Too much even for me.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Go home, dude, I've done it once at the Garden.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I want to do the same day doubleheader Nicks Rangers.
- 23:37Speaker 2: We did the Knicks at noon, hung out in the
- 23:39Speaker 2: city afterward, went back to the Rangers, and it was
- 23:42Speaker 2: a long that's a long freaking day. This's a little
- 23:44Speaker 2: different one right, one o'clock start, four o'clock start, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: then come home and I come home and watch the Yankees. Busy, yes, say.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yes, well, I mean come want to hang out with
- 23:56Speaker 1: your wife when you get home.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Hey, it's a busy season. She had me in February.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I mean, that's for a week.
- 24:06Speaker 3: You referenced Taylor softball team before. Have you played in
- 24:10Speaker 3: an adult softball league? Because I maintained there are a
- 24:13Speaker 3: few things in life that are sadder, so.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I used to and a part of me when I
- 24:19Speaker 2: hear Taylor and you guys talking about it, a part
- 24:21Speaker 2: of me is like, man, that could be fun being
- 24:23Speaker 2: part of a team and going out there. And then
- 24:25Speaker 2: the other part is like I want nothing to do
- 24:28Speaker 2: with this anymore, like I would get hurt. I have
- 24:30Speaker 2: no interest in packing up and going there. I just
- 24:33Speaker 2: don't want anything to do with it. So I understand
- 24:35Speaker 2: the appeal of it. I used to do it years ago.
- 24:37Speaker 2: No chance I'd do it anymore.
- 24:39Speaker 4: So Stu room Median was so bad defensively. And the
- 24:43Speaker 4: thing that makes it even funnier is he's from my hometown,
- 24:48Speaker 4: from New York. So room Median is the guy who's
- 24:51Speaker 4: on hold for two hours at wfan that wants to
- 24:54Speaker 4: tell you about how bad Jason Domnga's defense is.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I committed seven errors and opening fun night of
- 25:00Speaker 3: a softball league.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Friend, that's embarrassing. I mean that guy gid he brings
- 25:08Speaker 2: his girlfriend and what's he doing there? Maybe he knows
- 25:11Speaker 2: purposely he doesn't want to get married to this girl,
- 25:13Speaker 2: so he brings her to the game where he's watching
- 25:15Speaker 2: all the balls in the outfield.
- 25:16Speaker 3: But Zach, can you imagine like sitting down with your wife, Honey,
- 25:21Speaker 3: sit down?
- 25:22Speaker 1: I joined an adult softball league. Want to come to
- 25:24Speaker 1: the first game?
- 25:25Speaker 2: You no, No, there's no chance. Well, we moved into
- 25:30Speaker 2: the in Jersey neighbors like, oh yeah, should come down
- 25:32Speaker 2: on the come down to the club, we'll play softball.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I go bro the last like, I don't want to
- 25:37Speaker 2: be here hanging out with you right now, the last
- 25:38Speaker 2: thing I want to do. I'm only here because my
- 25:40Speaker 2: wife said we got to make friends with the neighbors.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Truth be told, I don't want to be I'm a
- 25:44Speaker 2: nice guy, but I have enough friends. You think I'm
- 25:46Speaker 2: gonna go on my free time to go play softball
- 25:48Speaker 2: with you and another group that No, I'm sorry, that's
- 25:51Speaker 2: not you got the wrong guy, not me.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yes, yes, when were you done making friends?
- 25:55Speaker 6: Like?
- 25:55Speaker 1: When?
- 25:55Speaker 2: When?
- 25:56Speaker 1: When were you done? Because I was done when I
- 25:57Speaker 1: was like twenty two. I don't need any more people
- 25:59Speaker 1: in my life. I need less people in my life.
- 26:01Speaker 2: It's a great question. I definitely would say after like
- 26:05Speaker 2: starting to work at the fan, it probably in my
- 26:07Speaker 2: late twenties early thirties that it was just like, all right,
- 26:09Speaker 2: we need to we need to not not only cut
- 26:12Speaker 2: it off, yere like we need to cut back from
- 26:15Speaker 2: this from the roll decks that we already have, need
- 26:17Speaker 2: to get cut back.
- 26:18Speaker 3: So marriage is an amazing thing because the guy in
- 26:20Speaker 3: most cases is trying to downsize, right, and the wife
- 26:24Speaker 3: is trying to upsize and trying to create more fucking
- 26:28Speaker 3: people who are eventually going to ask you for something,
- 26:30Speaker 3: you know.
- 26:31Speaker 4: So this happened to me recently where my girlfriend was like,
- 26:35Speaker 4: I met a friend, you would love her boyfriend, and
- 26:39Speaker 4: I just looked at her.
- 26:40Speaker 2: I go that capacity.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Sorry, you're not even married yet, dude.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Oh oh man. It gets worse because then you get
- 26:51Speaker 2: the extended family involved. It becomes too much my whole life,
- 26:55Speaker 2: my friends, my family. Then you're combining her friends, her family.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Then you bring kids, and now you got their friends.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh no, neighbors in no.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Way, no, but that fucking nonsense.
- 27:06Speaker 3: When the wife comes home or the girlfriend comes home,
- 27:08Speaker 3: Oh great person, I met her. You're gonna love the husband,
- 27:10Speaker 3: You're gonna love the boyfriend. Get the fuck out of here,
- 27:13Speaker 3: you know, did you speak to him? How do you
- 27:16Speaker 3: know who I'm gonna like and who I'm gonna dislike?
- 27:19Speaker 1: Oh?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Why?
- 27:19Speaker 1: Because he's a fucking Mets fan. Do you know how
- 27:21Speaker 1: many Mets fans I hate, like most of them?
- 27:25Speaker 3: And so I just hate when the wife does that
- 27:27Speaker 3: because no, it's it's it's a convenient reason to try
- 27:30Speaker 3: to get her to hang out with somebody that you
- 27:32Speaker 3: don't want to hang out.
- 27:33Speaker 2: With, right, And usually it starts with oh, they're big
- 27:37Speaker 2: sports fans, and I'm like, that's the last thing you
- 27:40Speaker 2: should be saying to me. I don't want to go
- 27:41Speaker 2: talk to it with sports about anybody, with anybody.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I do it every day.
- 27:44Speaker 2: You think I'm gonna go there and hey, soal, how
- 27:46Speaker 2: about those Mets? How about btng o beef on the fan? No,
- 27:49Speaker 2: I'm good, thank you.
- 27:52Speaker 3: When I'm done talking sports into this microphone, I'm done talking.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Sports for the day. You might as well lead with weed,
- 27:59Speaker 1: he smokes. Fine, I mean
