- 0:39that'll help set us free. If you haven't already, be sure
- 0:45to go if you're on Facebook, go to Simply cry.

- 0:59links to all that at our website, Christ Ministries.
- 1:03You can Google that. Yeah.
- 1:06Before we get started, we'll, I'll open this up with the word
- 1:08of prayer. God, we thank you for this day.
- 1:11Thank you that you have given us this word that we can read and
- 1:14know you. We thank you for the gift of
- 1:17life that you provided through your Son Jesus.
- 1:21And tonight as we look at the scriptures, I pray that you
- 1:24would give us wisdom, allow us to see the the truth and present
- 1:29it clearly. And God, I just pray for open
- 1:33ears and open hearts to those that are listening in Jesus
- 1:36name. Amen.
- 1:39All right. So last week we talked about one
- 1:42of the verses that we talked about was verse 6.
- 1:47As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk
- 1:50in Him. We talked about what that looks
- 1:53like as far as simply by faith. It's not as if we would receive
- 2:00the Lord one way and then live the Christian life another way.
- 2:05That is not what the Bible preaches.
- 2:07The Bible tells us that we are to walk in Him the same way that
- 2:13we received Him by faith, and that we should be rooted and
- 2:19build up in Him and to be established in our faith as you
- 2:24have been taught. That's an interesting aspect to
- 2:28that that I appreciated that was brought out that we can be that
- 2:34it's kind of our duty. Maybe that's not quite the right
- 2:38word, but an expectation that Christ has is that we would be
- 2:42rooted and and built and established in this space.
- 2:46In other words, rooted down in and and settled and not quoted
- 2:50about by every wind of doctrine that comes along.
- 2:52So anyway, so verse 7 and 8 say rooted and built up in him, and
- 2:57stabbed minister in the faith as he had been taught, abounding
- 3:00therein with Thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you
- 3:04through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of
- 3:08men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
- 3:13And it says, For in him do I love all the fullness of the
- 3:16Godhead bodily. And I'm going to let Andrew go
- 3:19here. We kind of thrashed that out
- 3:20pretty good. Verse 8 last week.
- 3:24Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy made his seed
- 3:26as the tradition of men and the rudiments of the world and not
- 3:30after Christ. I I think that's kind of
- 3:32profound that he makes sure that we know that these things are
- 3:37not after Christ. They're not the same as Christ.
- 3:41So these philosophy not a bad thing in in and of itself, but
- 3:46regarding religion or salvation, it is not like Christ.
- 3:52The seed of course isn't traditions of men cannot replace
- 3:55what Christ did. And of course the rudiments of
- 3:59the world. So interesting there.
- 4:02And the point that he's making is that, you know, in him
- 4:05dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily Christ, and was
- 4:08the fullness of the Godhead in him bodily.
- 4:11Andrew, go ahead with your thoughts on verse 8 and 9 or 9.
- 4:15Yeah, I'll come in a little bit on 8 that we didn't cover last
- 4:20time that I think is very significant.
- 4:22And that is there are lots of ministries that they're called
- 4:33Deliverance Ministries and they're like, I don't know what
- 4:39percentage you're going to put a percentage, but their main goal
- 4:41is to deal with the enemy. They're they are big in the
- 4:49casting out demons. They're big into curses, they're
- 4:55big into generational curses. So rudiments of the world, I
- 5:02think has to do with some of that, like philosophy being
- 5:05deceit. I think he's I think he reaches
- 5:10that far. So because of what he says in
- 5:12the very next verse, There are many people that will tell you
- 5:19as a believer that the reason you're still struggling with sin
- 5:22or the flesh or whatever is because of something your great,
- 5:24great granddaddy did or had or some kind of curse that is
- 5:29outside of you that you can't help it.
- 5:32But it was you inherited and you have to go back and find out
- 5:37where and when what and how that happened and go kind of sort of
- 5:42like mentally go back there and undo it.
- 5:45You got to go back there and fix it.
- 5:48And that's not the gospel, that's not Christ.
- 5:54Jesus Christ says in the chapter 1.
- 5:58He tells us that he's triumphed over all principality and powers
- 6:03openly. Like I forget which verse it
- 6:05was, but that's a big deal. If I was struggling with some
- 6:11kind of out of control, out of body supernatural demonic force,
- 6:17these verses would do me a lot of good.
- 6:20Like just to find out and to see that Jesus Christ.
- 6:24He says for in him dwell as the fullness of the Godhead bodily
- 6:32and I'm just going to go back and read there chapter 1 because
- 6:36it we got to remind ourselves of why he was saying where was it
- 6:46now? Sorry, I should have been ready.
- 6:52Oh, verse 15, who is the image of the invisible God, the first
- 6:56born of every creature. For by him we're all things
- 6:58created or they're in heaven, or that it that that are in heaven
- 7:03and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether to be
- 7:06Thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
- 7:08All things were created by him and for him, and he is before
- 7:12all things and by him all things consists.
- 7:16How about it that that guy is in US bodily.
- 7:23Bodily. Yep.
- 7:27I think we need to let all these.
- 7:28Curse ideas and these generational things go just let
- 7:32them go. Jesus Christ is the victory.
- 7:36He overcame the wicket one we're we're completing him.
- 7:41It's just that's just who it is I.
- 7:46Think so? Good stuff.
- 7:49Yeah, the the word rudiments here is also translated as the
- 7:55word principles and elements in the Bible.
- 7:59I find it kind of interesting not to pick on anyone ministry
- 8:02more than others, but there is a very famous ministry common
- 8:05among the homeschooling groups called the Basic Life
- 8:09Principles. And it's a whole ministry based
- 8:12on adding principles to your life.
- 8:14If you struggle with lust, that means you probably struggle with
- 8:17anger. You connect the dots between
- 8:19these two things. Do these 456 things and you'll
- 8:23find victory over lust. Put away anger, you'll get rid
- 8:26of lust, put away lust, you'll get rid of anger.
- 8:28And and it's all about adding good principles to your life.
- 8:32It's like taking the book of Proverbs and applying it to your
- 8:35life. Obviously good things, like most
- 8:38of it is, is valuable good things, but it's people trying
- 8:42to find deliverance, people trying to find freedom, people
- 8:45trying to find victory, people trying to find security outside
- 8:49of Christ. And that's that's the problem.
- 8:52And it's almost always that the good are perfect as the enemy of
- 8:56good, right? They say you take all these good
- 9:01things. Maybe I said that wrong.
- 9:02You take all these good things and you try to apply them to
- 9:05your life, but you miss the perfect thing, you miss what
- 9:08Christ has done, and we are complete in him.
- 9:11And so he says, don't let anyone deceive you through philosophy.
- 9:14Beware lest any man spoil you. To spoil you is like when you've
- 9:18had a battle. Two people, 2 armies are
- 9:21battling against each other. One of them defeats the other
- 9:23and they take away their goods, they plunder their stuff.
- 9:27So the enemy would like to take away awards from you or rewards
- 9:31from you for not trusting in Christ, but rather trusting in
- 9:35your own efforts, trusting in your own wisdom, trusting in
- 9:38your own philosophy and vain deceit.
- 9:40And he's actually going to pit this idea of a touch knot, taste
- 9:45knot, handle knot, which is what principles are.
- 9:48How do I live my life? Well, here's a list of touch
- 9:50knots, and here's a list of handle knots, and here's a list
- 9:52of taste knots. And if you follow all these
- 9:55principles, you should be good to go.
- 9:57And it has this show of wisdom. It looks like somebody's really
- 10:00doing something good, but they fail to find their satisfaction,
- 10:05their identity, their completion in Christ.
- 10:08And it says here in verse 2 and verse 9, In him in Christ
- 10:12dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
- 10:16And I would like to say it this way, if you are not looking to
- 10:19Christ, then you're looking outside of God.
- 10:23Like the only way you can find God is in Christ.
- 10:27The only way you can find victory is in God.
- 10:29But he is found in the person of Jesus Christ.
- 10:31The whole God had. All that God has ever been, all
- 10:35that he ever was, all that he ever will be was wrapped up
- 10:39inside this one human person, Jesus Christ.
- 10:42The fullness of the God had dwelt in him bodily and in him
- 10:47we find forgiveness, we find resurrection, we find assurance,
- 10:52we find redemption, sanctification, justification.
- 10:55It's all in him. And so our victory and our
- 10:59day-to-day living should also come from seeking Him, not
- 11:03seeking principles and applying wisdom to your life.
- 11:06Now, again, we're not trying to dismiss the idea of, you know,
- 11:11make sure you're not overeating, make sure you're not lusting.
- 11:14Make sure, you know, like we should be walking in
- 11:16righteousness, but it's not by applying principles, external
- 11:20principles that govern your flesh through which you get
- 11:23victory. The victory comes from
- 11:25reckoning, reckoning that we are dead indeed with Christ.
- 11:28We are dead to sin, freed from the power and the grip of sin,
- 11:32and alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
- 11:34And it's in him, in the fullness of the Godhead, that we find
- 11:38victory and completion. And don't let anybody spoil you
- 11:42or rob you of that kind of freedom that we have in Christ.
- 11:48Amen. That's good.
- 11:49Right on, Right on, Melvin. Yeah, well, obviously in verse
- 11:548, you know, he just laid it all out.
- 11:56What what opposite of Christ looks like, what what things
- 12:00when we try and fix things looks like on our own or traditions of
- 12:05man or rudiments of the world. And I think here in verse 9,
- 12:10it's significant that he is pointing out that who Christ is,
- 12:17you know, he said at the end of verse 8 and not after Christ.
- 12:21So you're following after you all these other things, trying
- 12:23to fix everything through your own flesh or your own power, and
- 12:28not after Christ. And then he says in verse 9, for
- 12:32in Christ, for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead.
- 12:38And that is so important to understand, I think because like
- 12:44you said in the very next verse, he says, and ye are complete.
- 12:48That's what it means to be complete in Christ.
- 12:52Everything was in Christ of God that needed to be to redeem us,
- 12:59to set us free from sin and to for us to be able to walk free
- 13:03of sin. And all those things I like in
- 13:06John 17 where Jesus is praying to the Father and he says
- 13:15neither pray I. This is John 1720 and 21.
- 13:19He says neither pray I for these alone.
- 13:22He's was praying for the disciples there, but then he
- 13:25says but for them also, which shall believe on me through
- 13:29their word that they all may be one.
- 13:33He's talking about those that believe on Jesus and Jesus
- 13:38alone, and the disciples, that they all may be 1.
- 13:41And then he says, as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee,
- 13:47and that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe
- 13:53that thou has sent me. And so it's so important that we
- 13:58remember that God is in Christ and Christ is in God and we are
- 14:03in Christ. It's all one.
- 14:05That's what he says about the fullness of the Godhead bodily,
- 14:10the full essence, the divinity of God, the the whole forms of
- 14:15God dwell in Christ in his physical body, just like our
- 14:19physical body. And that's so significant.
- 14:23He's not some, you know, being out there spiritual being that
- 14:27we can't reach or he he doesn't, he he understands US.
- 14:32Jesus does because He had a body like us, but in His body
- 14:38throughout the fullness of the Godhead.
- 14:39That that's, I don't know, we could go on and on for a long
- 14:43time about that, but it's just he's driving that home.
- 14:46The point of who Christ is and what He is so that we can
- 14:50understand that and be able to trust in Him and in Him alone.
- 14:56Yeah, Yeah, that's right. And I'll read the next verse.
- 15:02It will go into that you kind of touched on a little bit and you
- 15:06are completed him, which is the head of all principality and
- 15:09power. There's, you know, a couple
- 15:12things that Dan kind of mentioned it and Andrew.
- 15:15But if we think about what this letter was wrote for, you know,
- 15:20kind of go back, you know, they were, they were starting to turn
- 15:24to different methods of sanctification, for lack of
- 15:30better words. They were looking at different
- 15:31ways of dealing with sin, mysticism.
- 15:37And then I would just, you know, Google what the issues were
- 15:42there at the church. Interesting what that brings up.
- 15:45But he is reiterating that in him is our victory.
- 15:49When he says that he's complete, what does that mean?
- 15:52How complete is he complete? And he's the head of
- 15:56principality and power. There's not there's other
- 15:58principalities and there's other powers, but why mess with those?
- 16:02They are subpar. They will not.
- 16:06Yeah, they might have some power.
- 16:08Yeah. The devils, they can do things,
- 16:10you know, they do. They do some crazy stuff.
- 16:12But why mess around with that if there's if the Supreme being
- 16:15that made those others is here, Andrew.
- 16:20Yeah, exactly. And I think so.
- 16:25The deceptive part is, is that a lot of the people that adopt
- 16:30these philosophies and the principle that Dan was talking
- 16:34about, they would say that they believe in Jesus Christ and
- 16:38they're very thankful for the blood and the grace of Christ
- 16:41and the forgiveness. This just helps them walk
- 16:43Christ. Like this is these are the
- 16:47principles that help me walk godly.
- 16:50And but we got to remember why Christ came in the first place,
- 16:56because the law could not make any of the commerce there
- 17:00perfect, couldn't make the commerce perfect.
- 17:03So they're just replacing Jesus Christ with a sheep.
- 17:09But the problem is Jesus Christ is more than a sheep.
- 17:13A sheep does not give us a spirit to follow, right?
- 17:18It just bleeds and dies and it's gone.
- 17:21Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The sheep didn't rise from the
- 17:24dead, Jesus Christ rose from the dead and he told him John, that
- 17:30he's going to give us the comfort of the Spirit, which is
- 17:32going to teach us all things, which is supposed to be way
- 17:35superior than the law. Would you rather have someone
- 17:37that has the law of righteousness, the grace of God
- 17:40and the power of God, the Spirit that raised up Christ from the
- 17:44dead in in you or someone that is trying to live by some law
- 17:48that is blind that can't see your heart.
- 17:51The law can't see. It has to look at your actions.
- 17:54I would rather be let by. Or something leading people that
- 18:01is inside them saying? Hey, what you're doing is wrong.
- 18:06You know, I don't know how I can say this that it makes a lot of
- 18:09sense. It just frustrates me that
- 18:12people think that the Holy Spirit is just not sufficient.
- 18:17It's not good enough that. Somehow you're going to just
- 18:19choose evil. Like you lose your choice after
- 18:22you become a believer. You don't.
- 18:24You need someone to tell you and to hold you accountable to tell
- 18:27you not to lie. Really.
- 18:29Like what sin are you afraid of that you can't choose not to do
- 18:35because Jesus Christ is not victorious in you?
- 18:37Like what are you worried about? What are you scared of?
- 18:40Like Jesus Christ says you're completing him and he's the head
- 18:44of all principalities and powers, but yet you need man's
- 18:48philosophy, man's ideas in order to stay on the straight now.
- 18:53Well, Jesus Christ came because the holy law of Moses wasn't
- 18:59getting people to walk in righteousness.
- 19:02So he's saying Jesus came to do that.
- 19:05But you're saying, yeah, he died from my sins, thank God.
- 19:09But in order for me to not go and fornicate, I need some man
- 19:14to put some fences up and some guards to tell me not to.
- 19:17Like you can't make that choice. So they well, I need people
- 19:20around me to help me be free from sin.
- 19:22Well, that's not God's plan. That's not that's outside of
- 19:26God. Then that's then now man's
- 19:29wisdom, like Melvin was saying. Or with a damn.
- 19:32Outside of God, you're no longer doing it God's way.
- 19:35God's way is circumcision from the heart.
- 19:39God's way is crucifixion. God's great way, New man in
- 19:43Christ. And how do you live it out,
- 19:46believing it? Faith.
- 19:48Philosophy takes away faith. Traditions of men take away
- 19:52faith. It makes it gives you a visible
- 19:55action that you can apply that gives you the assumption that
- 19:59you're living a Christ like life, but you're not.
- 20:03It's why it's deceitful. Yeah, makes that faith of nut
- 20:07effect. Yeah, there's, it eliminates
- 20:09faith and that's the whole problem.
- 20:11Without faith, it's been possible to please him.
- 20:14So we're like, Oh my gosh, these people that just believe this,
- 20:18that Jesus Christ took their place and we're completing him
- 20:20so I can go do what I want. You missed the whole point.
- 20:24You missed the whole point. You're assuming someone that
- 20:27believes the gospel is, is still in their sins.
- 20:31It's still love, sun righteousness still just can't
- 20:34wait to go fornicate like you really think the power and the
- 20:39completion. And and the.
- 20:41Spirit that raised up Christ and the debt in you is going to go,
- 20:43yeah, let's go sin. Like it's just ridiculous.
- 20:47It's it's almost like it's coming from an unbeliever of
- 20:49someone that does not know Christ.
- 20:54Almost. That's good.
- 20:57Well, we can go to the next verse.
- 20:58That was very well explained. No.
- 21:00Well, go ahead then. Well, this is all still kind of
- 21:03building on that idea. Where in in verse 6 he said, as
- 21:08you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk
- 21:13ye in him. And like Andrew said, most
- 21:16Christians have, I mean all Christians have accepted the
- 21:19fact that Christ died for their sins.
- 21:21And so their future slate is clean, their eternity is secured
- 21:25and they rest in that. And then after that they don't
- 21:28know what Christ, what effect Christ or the cross could have
- 21:31upon their day-to-day. And so then they move on to
- 21:35principle base Christianity and a touch not, taste not, handle
- 21:39not. And they don't actually continue
- 21:42to walk in faith of what Jesus has done because your walk, the
- 21:46walk that you have in him is how do you overcome sin?
- 21:50How do you stop temptation in its tracks?
- 21:52How do you walk in victory day-to-day as you're living out
- 21:56this life? How?
- 21:58As you received Him. Well, no, no, no, no.
- 22:00I mean, I mean, I want principle, something I can do.
- 22:03But what do you do to receive Christ?
- 22:05Well, I just trusted Him to have forgiven my sins.
- 22:08I trusted that He died on the cross and he rose again, and now
- 22:10I'm free from the penalty of sin.
- 22:12Well then do that. Trust in Christ, not for the
- 22:16penalty to be forgiven, but for the power to be taken away.
- 22:20There, there's no more. You are not fighting against
- 22:23flesh and blood. We're we're.
- 22:25Resting in the complete work of Christ on our behalf.
- 22:29Not only did he die in our place, but he's telling us here
- 22:32that we died with him, that we were raised together with him,
- 22:35that we're seated together with Christ in the heavenly places as
- 22:38we're going to get to in the next chapter.
- 22:40But we have to remember that this Christianity, the gospel,
- 22:44understanding what Jesus has done, finding our completion in
- 22:47the fullness of the Godhead in Christ, it is how you find
- 22:52victory to walk. It's not just an ethereal thing.
- 22:56It's not just a philosophy or a theology that we believe.
- 23:00It's actually the practical work of how we walk faithful before
- 23:04God. It is not, you know, these, a
- 23:06lot of these principles, they're not bad things.
- 23:09They're just not Christ. They're not fullness of the
- 23:12Godhead. So here he says that we, we
- 23:16already made this point, but the fullness of the Godhead dwelt in
- 23:19Christ's body and we are complete in him.
- 23:22And this is what Melvin was making such a good point out
- 23:25that we are in Christ. That's actually where we are.
- 23:29So when you find temptation coming your way, you can laugh
- 23:32at it. You can scoff at the attempt of
- 23:35the enemy to overthrow your faith because my life is hid
- 23:39with Christ and God. And now we say this all very
- 23:42confidently, almost braggadocious, right?
- 23:44Like it's not like it always comes naturally to me.
- 23:47It's not like I haven't struggled with these things
- 23:49also. So when I say this, it's
- 23:50reminding me as well that that's where my victory is.
- 23:54I am complete in Christ, and that word complete is also
- 23:58translated as perfect. I am perfect in Christ Jesus.
- 24:02I am the perfection of God. I am the righteousness of God.
- 24:05I am free from sin in Christ Jesus.
- 24:09And so we're not looking for anything more, for anything
- 24:12bigger, anything different. And in 2nd Corinthians 11, Paul
- 24:15again warns with the same kind of language.
- 24:18He says beware I fear lest by any means as the serpent
- 24:22beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your mind should be
- 24:26corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
- 24:30Don't move on from the simplicity of the fact that you
- 24:33were redeemed by Christ and you were made complete by Christ.
- 24:37Your forgiveness is found in Christ and so is your victory
- 24:41found in Christ. Your day-to-day walk is received
- 24:45the way you have. Victory over sin is received the
- 24:47same way you received salvation, by grace through faith.
- 24:53That's good stuff. Reach it.
- 24:56Yep, no one. Well, the reality is is that is
- 25:00that I was thinking of this as you guys are talking that God
- 25:03wants to work in US and through us in our lives.
- 25:08He doesn't want us to try and do things to please him or to to
- 25:13make ourselves look good. He wants to work in US and
- 25:17through us in Christ, which is in US and through the spirit.
- 25:22I had to think of the children of Israel when you guys are
- 25:25talking about, you know, turning to people or men.
- 25:30I had to think of in First Samuel when the children of
- 25:33Israel wanted a king. And it says in First Samuel 8,
- 25:38it says this and this is so profound.
- 25:40It says And all the elders of the Israel gathered themselves
- 25:44together and came on, came to Samuel unto Rhema, and said unto
- 25:48him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways.
- 25:53Now make us a king, like in physical king, to judge us like
- 25:58all the nations. But the thing this please
- 26:01Samuel, when when they said, Give us a king to judge us.
- 26:06And Samuel prayed unto God. And the Lord said unto Samuel,
- 26:11Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto
- 26:14thee, unto thee, For they have not rejected thee, but they have
- 26:19rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
- 26:24And see God. That's what God desired even
- 26:27back then, before Christ came and and died for our sins.
- 26:31And that, you know, God desired to reign in us not a man or a
- 26:39king or a judge, but God himself.
- 26:44And so I think that's what we need to remember and and and now
- 26:48we have Christ, right. He gave us Christ who is the
- 26:52fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are complete in him and
- 26:56we try and and turn to ourselves still today, right and into
- 27:01other manner principalities or powers or whatever it may be.
- 27:07We read in cautions 1. I think it was somewhere where
- 27:11it says he is. He created all principalities
- 27:15and powers, so that's why he is the head of all principalities
- 27:18and powers. Yeah, that's, that's right.
- 27:23And that's a good point. How I'll let you go ahead over
- 27:26here in a second. How that because we've just
- 27:30heard this on Sunday. We're preaching on that and
- 27:33really good point that that they turned and they wanted a
- 27:37physical king. And that is exactly like what
- 27:39Dan was talking about these things that they said in order
- 27:43to help us live as a Christian, you know, they wanted somebody
- 27:46that just told them what to do right?
- 27:48And instead of relying on the spirit or no God telling them
- 27:53what to do in other words, so very much parallel story.
- 27:56That's a really good point, Melvin.
- 27:58I think I think it's exactly what we're talking about here,
- 28:01but I had to think in you know, talking about in in Christ.
- 28:08You know, he's the Godhead bodily.
- 28:09So he was the the exact image like if you wanted to look see
- 28:14God, look at Jesus that you saw God that was he was a
- 28:18representation of him. He was God in the flesh that it
- 28:22said that you are completed. Him reminded me in Ephesians
- 28:25where it says verse 20 or not. Galatians 320 says Now a
- 28:31mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is. 1 Is the law
- 28:36then against the promises of God?
- 28:38God forbid. For if there had been a law
- 28:41given which could have given life, verily righteousness
- 28:44should have been by the law. And what I think about that is
- 28:48that this having Christ as our righteousness is not an
- 28:53accident. You know, God, God exhausted
- 28:57every other means of righteousness that he could have
- 29:01given us, knowing that we would fail, of course.
- 29:04But so this, when he says that we are completing him, he means
- 29:10that he already, he already knows that there is no other way
- 29:14to attain righteousness and to walk Victoria's rivers in death.
- 29:18We tried it. We tried it for thousands of
- 29:20years. We couldn't do it.
- 29:22So when he says that we are completing him and that in Him
- 29:25dwelleth the Godhead bodily, that is what he means.
- 29:28There's no other way. There's no bones about it.
- 29:30There's nothing else you can do. This was thought out, This was
- 29:33the plan from the beginning. It's complete and finished,
- 29:38Andrew. Yeah, I was just thinking of the
- 29:42think about Adam when he first sent, he covered himself in fig
- 29:45leaves, but then God came and dressed him up with his thing.
- 29:51And then Jesus Christ says that we're dressed in the robe of his
- 29:54righteousness robe. We're dressed in that robe of
- 29:57righteousness. So what we're technically trying
- 29:59to do is we want to claim the robe of righteousness.
- 30:02We want to claim that robe, but then we lay it aside and we
- 30:05talked to each other about our fig leaves and how great our fig
- 30:07leaves are, right? Like we're really proud of that
- 30:11fake leaf. I mean that guy that.
- 30:13That that. That's a fake leaf right there.
- 30:15And we've forgotten that we're dressed in a, in a robe of
- 30:20righteousness. It's kind of it's, it's, it's,
- 30:23it's terrible, right? Like we're, we just cannot, we
- 30:30just get disconnected from what I said earlier about believing,
- 30:34believing and walking in something that we can't exactly
- 30:39see. The other thing that I was
- 30:42thinking about is what I'm trying to put my finger on, the
- 30:47disconnect. Why are we tempted to go away
- 30:50from something so good? And it's because it's not as
- 30:55visual and it's not as it doesn't speak to the flesh, it
- 30:59doesn't minister to the flesh and your emotions.
- 31:03And so when? So that's an easy.
- 31:05Target for ministers to approach your emotions, your physical,
- 31:11something that you can connect and tie to the gospel that now
- 31:16makes it work that that gap. Of having to have faith and
- 31:21trusting and figuring it out and walking in wisdom and getting to
- 31:24know God. That kind of taken care of.
- 31:28And now I got, I found stability here.
- 31:30This man helped me. You know they they'll say like.
- 31:33This man, I don't know where I'd be with God.
- 31:35It wasn't for this. Man, you know, and I think
- 31:40that's dangerous. Think of it this way.
- 31:43If my girls, I got all girls. If I had a son, I would say if
- 31:46my son was just sitting around waiting for me to tell him what
- 31:51to do, I wouldn't be very proud of him if he had to be told
- 31:56every step. He needs to do.
- 31:57He's scared to try anything, he's scared to learn, he's
- 32:00scared to fail. He's scared I wouldn't be proud
- 32:04of him. I think the reason God leaves us
- 32:07hanging is because he's a good God.
- 32:09He's a good. Father, he loves it when we
- 32:12learn by our mistakes, when we grow in wisdom, when we grow in
- 32:16understanding, when we exercise our.
- 32:18Senses, he tells us to exercise, to remember, to remind
- 32:21ourselves, to grow. We don't want to go through
- 32:24that. We want to just be told what to
- 32:27do and then go on with our merry lives.
- 32:30Don't tell me about my secret flesh, carnal things that I
- 32:34enjoy. Tell me how I can.
- 32:36Look good before God when I go meet him at church.
- 32:41Tell me how I can have quenched those conscience that keep
- 32:45bugging me about my secret sins. Tell me how that I'm just weak
- 32:50and God understands and someday he might deliver you.
- 32:54But if you do this and this, you know, this is how you can deal
- 32:57with it. Philosophy.
- 32:59Oh, we can explain that away. You know, I have my struggles
- 33:01too. You know, David had his
- 33:03struggles. You know, we like that stuff,
- 33:08but God. Says Jesus says I died for you
- 33:12and I'm going to circumcise your heart and I'm going to deliver
- 33:15you from the body of flesh. I'm going to destroy that body
- 33:17of flesh like Dan was saying, and I am going to make you free
- 33:21from sin. And then in.
- 33:23Galatians, he says you're crucified with all the
- 33:26affections and lusts. That's God's solution, but we
- 33:29don't want to hear that We. Don't want to hear that it's.
- 33:32Almost like we want an excuse for our sin.
- 33:34We want an excuse for walking carnal unrighteousness.
- 33:38So I'm going to flip the script here because they say, oh, so
- 33:41what's your sin? Because we're under grace, God
- 33:44forbid. The reason you still want
- 33:46philosophy and traditions of men is because you want an excuse.
- 33:49You want an explanation to sin and Christians?
- 33:52Don't have that option. We're asked to believe that
- 33:55we're free from it, and you don't want to do it.
- 33:58You don't want to do it. You want an explanation for your
- 34:00failures and we don't have it. So stop talking about how you
- 34:06just want to sin. I'm tired of hearing that right.
- 34:09I'm tired of it. You, the reason you like
- 34:13philosophy and the wisdom of man is because it explains away your
- 34:17failures. You don't really want victory.
- 34:21But I think probably just as important is it makes you look
- 34:26really good. Like if you can apply all the
- 34:29principles to your life and put you everything to in order your,
- 34:33you know, children are walking like little ducklings behind
- 34:36you, everybody's button to the top and you all you just look
- 34:39really well put together. You're maybe very well educated.
- 34:42You have a love for wisdom. You know it, it just looks like
- 34:46this guy. If anybody's got to put
- 34:48together, it's this guy. Now a good faithful Christian
- 34:52might very well look like they have it together also, but it's
- 34:56not through the love of wisdom, through the love of philosophy
- 35:00that they gain that that lifestyle.
- 35:03It's rather through pursuit of Christ and an enjoyment of his
- 35:07favor that produces that in a person's life.
- 35:11But people like we're going to get to in these coming verses,
- 35:14they, they like the idea of not satisfying their flesh and
- 35:19looking very godly to the public eye.
- 35:23I think that's, you know, you were trying to put your finger
- 35:25on the thing that draws us away. I think that is one of the big
- 35:28things is our desire to look right and we take the shortcut.
- 35:33We take the the most obvious thing and that is to act right
- 35:37and do right and, and try these things that look godly and
- 35:41instead of actually surrendering to God and just, you know,
- 35:44believing his, his truth about us.
- 35:47Because he wants to go down to your heart.
- 35:49Because that guy that like Dan saying it's all buttoned up,
- 35:52most of them are doing pornography.
- 35:54Behind the scenes. You see, God wants to deal with
- 35:57that part. He wants us free, man free.
- 36:00An evil heart changed into a good heart.
- 36:03Like, you know. Corruptible.
- 36:06Put on incorruption. Like, come on, let's believe it.
- 36:10Like these. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:14Stop. All right, well, well, let's see
- 36:19what the Scripture says, verse 11, In whom also ye are
- 36:24circumcised with the circumcision made without hands,
- 36:28in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the
- 36:34circumcision of Christ. Dan, you want to head into this
- 36:40one on verse 11? Or Andrew, do you want?
- 36:43But yeah, then I know I've, I've heard you go through some of
- 36:46this before. Yeah, some of my favorite.
- 36:49Passages here. It's very much coincides
- 36:52perfectly with Romans chapter 6. Some people like to read
- 36:58circumcision. And water.
- 37:00Baptism together somehow, as if, because the next verse says
- 37:03baptism buried with him in baptism.
- 37:06And so they'll read water baptism into this passage and it
- 37:09gets them into a lot of theological trouble because they
- 37:12think now that water baptism has taken the place of circumcision.
- 37:16Some of them take this so far as to baptize their little children
- 37:19on the 8th day, because circumcision, baptism, this is
- 37:22where we get it from, right? So it's this covenant theology
- 37:26type of thing. But he's not talking at all
- 37:28about water baptism. He's talking about how we are
- 37:32made complete in Christ. How is it that we are made?
- 37:36Can you say you're completing Christ?
- 37:38And some people could to take that and say, OK, you tell me
- 37:41I'm completing Christ, but how? Well, he's going to tell you how
- 37:44right here in whom also ye are circumcised with the
- 37:48circumcision made without hands. Now anybody who knows what the
- 37:52word circumcision is knows it's a pretty gruesome process.
- 37:57You take that little foreskin of the baby boy and you cut it off.
- 38:00Or in the case of Abraham and his descendants, when it first
- 38:03took was instituted, they as men had their foreskin cut off and
- 38:08they had to wait get 3 or 4 days before they could kind of walk
- 38:11around again. Like it was a gruesome task
- 38:13where you take the exterior shell of a member and cut it off
- 38:20so that the interior can be exposed.
- 38:24Now that's that's again, that's a pretty gruesome picture, but
- 38:26it's not my words, it's the scriptures words.
- 38:29And so just like a member, the physical sexual member of a man
- 38:34is exposed when the foreskin is pulled back or cut off.
- 38:39Again, I almost feel like apologetic for speaking this
- 38:42way. The same thing needs to happen
- 38:44with us. There is an inner man and there
- 38:47is an outer man. The inner man has been baptized
- 38:51fully into Christ, and we are now told that we are walking in
- 38:55the new man, we are living in him.
- 38:58We are baptized into Christ so that when Christ's body died,
- 39:02our body died. It was circumcised, it was cut
- 39:05off, it was tossed aside, it was discarded because it was
- 39:09unuseful, it was destructive. So the outer man was cut off and
- 39:14thrown aside so that the inner man could be exposed and could
- 39:18produce life. That's what the member does that
- 39:21does it not? It produces life.
- 39:23It gives the seed of the word of God, and the woman receives the
- 39:27seed and bears life. And so there's this crazy
- 39:30biological answer being given to us.
- 39:34How are we be complete in Christ?
- 39:35Well, we're complete because the old man I am crucified with,
- 39:39Christ is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me, the
- 39:41life which I now live in the flesh.
- 39:43I live by faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave
- 39:46himself for me. This flesh with its affections
- 39:49and lusts has been circumcised, cut off, tossed aside, so that
- 39:55Christ can live within us, so that he can live through us.
- 39:59And it's not automatic. We still have to walk as those
- 40:03that are alive from the dead. We need to reckon or count
- 40:07ourselves to be dead indeed to sin and alive unto God.
- 40:10But the reality is there, you have been freed from your body
- 40:15of flesh. The old man has been cut off
- 40:18with his deeds. The affections and lusts have
- 40:21been crucified. You have been circumcised in
- 40:24Christ, an operation of God made without hands.
- 40:27The body of the sins of the flesh has been cut away by the
- 40:32circumcision of Christ so that we can now be free to walk after
- 40:37the Spirit. And we can say a lot more about
- 40:39this, but I know there's more verses coming right that.
- 40:44That is plum good. And I knew it would because I've
- 40:46heard you talk about that before, Dad.
- 40:48And that is, that is the crux of Christianity right there.
- 40:53Knowing that that useless piece of flesh that used to rule you
- 40:59is cast aside. Now you can walk free in Christ.
- 41:01Man, that is good. That is good news.
- 41:05Melbourne. Anything that or talk about?
- 41:09Yeah, I just wanted to. Say you explained that very
- 41:12well, Dan. I like what it says there in the
- 41:15latter part of that verse. It explains what that
- 41:17circumcision actually looks like.
- 41:21It says in putting off the body of sins of the flesh by the
- 41:28circumcision of Christ. I like what it says there.
- 41:31By the circumcision of Christ. It's by Christ that our body,
- 41:36our our flesh or the sin is put to death, right?
- 41:40And in Romans 6 it says, knowing this, that our old man is
- 41:45crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed.
- 41:49It says the body of sin is destroyed, that henceforth we
- 41:53should not serve sin for for he. That is dead.
- 41:57Is freed from sin. And it says Now, if we be dead
- 42:01with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.
- 42:05And then in verse 11, he says directing ourselves to that
- 42:09truth, like align ourselves with that truth.
- 42:13But I I think that is that's what stood out to me is, is that
- 42:19latter part of that verse that it's, it's not by he just got
- 42:22done, you know, going through the rudiments of the world and,
- 42:25and all those things that we try and take care of sin by other
- 42:29ways. And, and it is only by the sins
- 42:33of the flesh of the circumcision of Christ.
- 42:35Christ has done it. It's through him, it's through
- 42:38his death and his resurrection, nothing else.
- 42:42So. You guys must be peeling onions.
- 42:45Mine makes my eyes water. All right, Andrew.
- 42:48Yeah, I. Think another significant point
- 42:52that a lot of people kind of gloss over is it says that we
- 42:58are circumcised. Everybody wants to make it.
- 43:02This progressions to fit our experience, yes.
- 43:06And that's that's again outside of the gospel.
- 43:11You don't want to progressively be circumcised.
- 43:14No, that would that would be. Painful.
- 43:17Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:18No, no, no, yeah. That hey, that's good.
- 43:24That's a good one. Yeah, I'll use.
- 43:27That the. Next time, OK, let me start
- 43:29chopping, then we'll do the rest of it tomorrow.
- 43:34Yeah, my goodness. That's good.
- 43:37But we are crucified, circumcised, we are buried with
- 43:43him. That's God's.
- 43:45Way and. His means by which he.
- 43:50Dealt with this sin problem that.
- 43:51We're all still trying to deal with you see the.
- 43:54Moment. That see.
- 43:57So let's do it this way. Let's say I get faced with lust
- 44:06and I'm right in the middle of the temptation, and Satan might
- 44:13come along and say, you know what?
- 44:17In your head, you just. Better off to just go through
- 44:20with it because it's just that way.
- 44:22You won't have to deal with this temptation anymore.
- 44:25And then a man would come up, a Christian or a religious person
- 44:29might come up and say, yeah, you know that evil spirit well.
- 44:33Before that I would tell the. Devil, you know what Jesus
- 44:36Christ said? He made me free from it.
- 44:37So and then the devil would say, yeah, but I'm, you know, I'm
- 44:40still here. And I said, yeah, but he
- 44:42defeated you too. In fact, he made you and he also
- 44:45triumphed over you. And then a man might come with
- 44:48some philosophy and say, hey, I was lusting with the same thing.
- 44:52I had that same problem and here's what I did.
- 44:55And I say, no, I I know that's what you do, but this is what
- 44:59Jesus did. Like somehow we need to figure
- 45:03out. Where we're going wrong here so
- 45:05as? Soon as we're going with some
- 45:07other plan, then we're not believing this again.
- 45:12Now we're not having faith again then.
- 45:15So the reason that I laugh at people that say, oh, I know that
- 45:21like I had this one guy that is a buffoon when it comes to
- 45:24believing this stuff is. He's like, I just can tell.
- 45:29That there's. Evil spirits and there's demons
- 45:31around your property. Down there and.
- 45:34And around your. Fellowship.
- 45:36And I think there's some serious stuff going on and in in the
- 45:40spiritual realm, when you're just oblivious to it and you
- 45:42don't, I just laugh at it. Like and they think I'm
- 45:46ridiculous. Here's the Here's the reason.
- 45:49I don't have any time for that stuff the moment.
- 45:51I would go down chasing demons. I wouldn't believe this, right?
- 45:56I wouldn't. Believe it.
- 45:58They're trying to get me. Away from believing that Jesus
- 46:01Christ triumphed over every principality and power and he's
- 46:03in me and he separated me from the body of flesh and sin.
- 46:07Where the devil has access to, he doesn't have any access to my
- 46:11spirit. It's glorifying, it's holy, it's
- 46:13righteous. It's not going to penetrate
- 46:15that. The only thing that Satan can
- 46:18get to and mess with is my carnal mind and my flesh and
- 46:21emotions. That's what he's going to come
- 46:24after. And then if I.
- 46:27If I. Don't believe it, I'll pay
- 46:29attention to it. If I don't believe the gospel, I
- 46:31will give place to the devil. I will hear him, and I will hear
- 46:36the philosopher. I will hear the world.
- 46:38I will hear everything. But if I believe Christ, I don't
- 46:42hear it. It doesn't have any power over
- 46:44me. A dent man.
- 46:46Is not trying to defend. Himself from a woman, a dent.
- 46:48Man is not going to try to. Figure out generational.
- 46:53Curses. He's not going to do it.
- 46:55He's completely free, laying there peaceful as eyes close.
- 46:59Nothing's moving completely at rest, so that's why.
- 47:06I'm arrogant when it comes to. Generational curses and.
- 47:12People thinking there's all these.
- 47:13Evil powers? No, I'm not.
- 47:17I can't believe both. Yeah.
- 47:20Yeah, I. I would acknowledge that there's
- 47:22evil powers, sure, but what? What is that?
- 47:24To me, that's like, So what? Why do you want me to believe in
- 47:28them? I'm going to believe.
- 47:29In them and also. Believe that I'm free.
- 47:33You know, all right, let's go to the next step.
- 47:37Here, Andrew, I'll let you go on this.
- 47:40Actually, Melvin, why? Don't you go.
- 47:43Verse Verse 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are
- 47:47risen with him through the. Faith of the.
- 47:51Operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
- 47:55So we talked about circumcision, how that we are.
- 47:59The body of the sins of the flesh has been put away by
- 48:04Christ. Now he is saying that we are one
- 48:08with him in baptism. I like what it says in Galatians
- 48:14327 very clearly. For as many of you as have been
- 48:19baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
- 48:23He's on and. That's kind of what this.
- 48:24Text is saying that we're in him.
- 48:26He's on us, Melvin as well. Yeah, well, it's.
- 48:31Like Dan was saying earlier that he touched on it a little bit,
- 48:34that this baptism, it's not talking about water baptism,
- 48:38it's saying that it's something about being baptized into
- 48:41Christ, that we're in Christ, we're put in Christ when we
- 48:46become born again. So we're buried with him in
- 48:50baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him.
- 48:54I like what it says there. It says through the faith of the
- 48:57operation of God who hath raised him from the dead.
- 49:01It's like he's trying to again point out that it's this whole
- 49:08thing of Christ and being complete in him and that he is
- 49:12the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
- 49:14He's again making a point that the operation of God who has
- 49:19raised him from the dead, like there's no other prophet,
- 49:23there's no other God. These all these false gods that
- 49:28Allah and all these other false gods that people put their trust
- 49:32in or try and follow after that are dead like they are not a
- 49:37lot. None of those are alive today.
- 49:39So he's pointing out that Christ is a lie and God raised him from
- 49:45the dead. But and then so that makes it so
- 49:50real to us that we are buried with him, with baptism like our
- 49:55body, like I read in Romans 6 there that our old man is
- 50:00crucified with him, like our old man is put to death.
- 50:04It is dead. And but not only that, I like
- 50:09what it I read there in verse 8 not now in Romans 6 verse 8, it
- 50:17says now we if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall
- 50:20also live with him knowing that Christ being raised up from the
- 50:25dead dieth no more and death hath no more dominion over him.
- 50:30It the reason that Christ is alive It's because he conquered
- 50:35death. He's he had to be risen from the
- 50:37dead to conquer death. Death don't have dominion over
- 50:40him anymore. Lot so like that we are dead to
- 50:43sin and and it but the reality is, though, you know, people
- 50:48say, well, I we still sin and and you're right, we do
- 50:52sometimes we do fall, but I like what it says there in first
- 50:58John. It says my little children, I
- 51:01pray that you sin not. But if any man sin, we have an
- 51:04advocate and that advocate is Jesus Christ.
- 51:06And so if we do sin with it has to be Christ.
- 51:12We have to come back to this in Romans 6 and and what we're
- 51:17studying here in cautions too about Christ and that he is
- 51:21complete or he is the fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are
- 51:25complete in him. That's where our victory lies.
- 51:29Amen, 100. Percent, Andrew.
- 51:33Yeah, that's the the. Favorite thing is like when you
- 51:37when you share this type of gospel and freedom from sin that
- 51:40this is the answer then. Most people were like.
- 51:44So did you? You don't sin anymore then?
- 51:48And I'm like, yeah, probably still do, but this is still the.
- 51:52Answer Thanks for the. Challenge to for me to believe
- 51:58it more like are you believing it?
- 52:04Are you still sinning? Like you have a plan that works
- 52:08like this is this is this is how God did it.
- 52:11And if I still sin because I'm not walking in Christ as I have
- 52:16received him, so challenge me with that.
- 52:19If you want to challenge me about my sin, then challenge me
- 52:22with the fact that I'm not believing in who God has already
- 52:25made me. I'm not walking in it.
- 52:28I'm not walking in Christ like I received him.
- 52:31I'm not walking in the power that is already available for
- 52:34me. Challenge me with that.
- 52:37Give me that faith challenge. I'll receive it.
- 52:39I need it. I need this study like everybody
- 52:42else does right now. I need to hear this again, need
- 52:46to be reminded of this all the time because it's a faith.
- 52:49Challenge and that is the first thing that goes is faith.
- 52:52We are so quickly distracted and then all of a sudden we're like,
- 52:55what did I do? You know?
- 52:58So yeah, I we're buried with him.
- 53:01That's through baptism and it's not water baptism.
- 53:04Remember when the German of Israel went down in the sea with
- 53:07and the Egyptians came after them?
- 53:10Paul says later in the New Testament that all were baptized
- 53:13on the Moses. So there.
- 53:15Weren't some people? Walking on like strays that kind
- 53:18of got away and all that. Somehow now we got to still
- 53:21conquer those kind of little demons that got away.
- 53:24It is somehow slipped through the water and came, popped their
- 53:27heads out. No, the enemy was destroyed and
- 53:30they were free. The old man Egypt was gone, cut
- 53:36away, separated, dead in the sea, and they weren't popping
- 53:41back up. And they had.
- 53:42To they didn't have to keep walking through the wilderness
- 53:44looking over their back, but I think I I heard an Egyptian.
- 53:49You know why you're struggling. That Egyptian you.
- 53:52Know that. Egyptian back there is still
- 53:54messing with you but. Israelites going to say no I
- 53:59he's dead. That's right, I like Chariots.
- 54:06So. Not once after they went through
- 54:09there did they ever deal with that Egyptian.
- 54:11Not once. But we're telling.
- 54:14Them it's like. The Gospel and.
- 54:17Another one of those progressive.
- 54:19Type things. Yeah, the I, I.
- 54:24Like to think in these verses of the words operation and
- 54:30circumcision and put the two together and recognize that God
- 54:34is a surgeon. He has performed an operation,
- 54:37He has done the miraculous, He has cut you away from your
- 54:43flesh. Now most people, most
- 54:45Christians, even ones that believe this concept of being
- 54:48free from the power and grip of sin, they make the flesh to be
- 54:51something other than what it is. It is simply that your body of
- 54:55flesh, the thing that weighs down your seat, that you put
- 54:58clothes on, that you, you know, comb the hair of and brush your
- 55:01beard and whatever else you do to this body of flesh is what
- 55:05drags us into sin. And the Bible says through the
- 55:09faith of the operation of God, God being the surgeon, he
- 55:14performed an operation. He cut you away.
- 55:17He cut off the old man, the external man, and he cast it
- 55:21aside. And now he's challenging us to
- 55:23walk as those that are alive from the dead.
- 55:26That's the challenge. Now everything in your
- 55:28experience, what you see here feel, taste and touch screams
- 55:32the opposite. But God says the just shall live
- 55:36by faith. He's he's challenging you
- 55:39believe something that looks and feels and sounds impossible.
- 55:44We live in a different realm folks like he's going to tell us
- 55:47that we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places.
- 55:49Our life is hidden together with Christ and God.
- 55:52Are any of those things a reality?
- 55:54Do any of those things feel real?
- 55:57No, they're they're things that we believe.
- 55:59We trust in these things. There was an operation performed
- 56:02when Christ died on the cross in which you were crucified.
- 56:06Your old man, the body of sin, was destroyed.
- 56:09He was cut away, and by baptism into the by the Spirit, into the
- 56:13body of Christ, you participated in that operation.
- 56:17Whether you feel like it or not, This is the reality.
- 56:21This is the scriptural fact that is true of you.
- 56:25You are dead and freed from sin. Yeah, but I don't feel like it.
- 56:29Don't philosophize. Don't use your wisdom.
- 56:33Don't argue with me by saying this is my experience.
- 56:36We're not talking about how you've performed.
- 56:39We're talking about what God has said.
- 56:42God has said you are free from the body.
- 56:44It has been cut off. It has been destroyed.
- 56:47You were baptized into Christ's body so that when he died, you
- 56:50died. When he was raised, you were
- 56:52raised. When he ascended into heaven.
- 56:54You ascended into heaven knowing this, that our old man is
- 56:57crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed.
- 57:01Romans 8 verse 9 says, But ye are not in the flesh, but in the
- 57:05spirit. If so be that the Spirit of God
- 57:08dwell in you. Now if any man have not the
- 57:10spirit of Christ, he's none of his.
- 57:12And if Christ be in you, what is dead then what's dead?
- 57:15The body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because
- 57:20of Christ, because of righteousness.
- 57:22Sorry, but if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the
- 57:26dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ in the dead
- 57:29shall also quicken your mortal bodies by the Spirit that
- 57:33dwelleth in you. So don't use wisdom and
- 57:36philosophy and vain deceit to control this external outer man.
- 57:41The old man has been put off with his deeds, with his
- 57:44affections and lusts. Christ did this for you and
- 57:47that's why we're saying find your completion, your fullness,
- 57:51your identity in him. Knowing the what I mean by
- 57:54identity is who are you today you should be able to say I am
- 58:00free from sin. I am currently not because I
- 58:04have performed a certain way, not because I have said you
- 58:07know, touch not taste not handle not I am dead and freed from sin
- 58:10because that's what God says of me.
- 58:12I was baptized into Jesus through the faith of the
- 58:15operation of God. My old flesh was put away and
- 58:19now I am a new man in Christ Jesus.
- 58:22And that's that is what it's saying.
- 58:24But all of our human reason wants to reason this away and
- 58:27say no, no, I'm becoming that. I'm progressing there.
- 58:30I'm trying to be that. No, this is a truth today,
- 58:34whether you feel it or not. If you are a believer in Jesus,
- 58:37this is the facts about your state before God.
- 58:41It's a believer. 'S reality, it's a believer's
- 58:44reality that you are seated and having the places in Christ
- 58:47Jesus and you, you're trying to disagree with it like we human
- 58:51human, the human experience is trying to disagree with it all
- 58:54the time. Rather use philosophy.
- 58:57And rudiments and wisdom to make yourself better.
- 59:00And the favorite 1 is. That I've tried so hard to get
- 59:03to people is they say, oh, this is talking about spiritual.
- 59:07If this is not physical, this is spiritual death.
- 59:11This is spiritual man, this is spiritual.
- 59:14And if that's if that were true, let's let's go, let's say that
- 59:18was true. We're still in our sins.
- 59:24We're still in our sins. If.
- 59:27Jesus Christ did not. Physically die, and we did not
- 59:29physically fleshly die with him. Then the physical, fleshly,
- 59:34sinful creature didn't get cut off, weren't circumcised from
- 59:38the heart if. It was too spiritual.
- 59:42That doesn't work at all well. Cutting off cutting.
- 59:46Off your foreskin is spiritual then that?
- 59:49I mean, that just doesn't make sense, right?
- 59:55Yeah. And it's it's.
- 59:56Always going to be a a battle because when you were saying
- 1:00:00Andrew and and Dan. Because we war against that, our
- 1:00:04flesh rejects the idea that there is, you know, it's a, it's
- 1:00:09a natural consequence. I can't almost blame people for
- 1:00:15not taking it, for taking grievance against the idea that
- 1:00:18we would be free from this, because it is totally against
- 1:00:22our flesh to think that away. And, and the reason I know that
- 1:00:26for a fact I think so, but I reason I know it is because in
- 1:00:29Romans 8 it says for to be carnally minded is death, but to
- 1:00:32be spiritually minded is life and peace because the carnal
- 1:00:36mind is an enemy of God. It's enmity against God, he
- 1:00:40says, for it is not subject to the law of God.
- 1:00:44Actually, he says it can't be. So there's always going to be
- 1:00:48that enmity. There's always going to be the
- 1:00:50lust to go back to a physical way to manage your sins instead
- 1:00:55of letting go and realizing that God and in these truths that
- 1:00:59we're just talking about. So that's something that we're
- 1:01:01always going to face as humans, but we're not always going to
- 1:01:04have to believe. It's always going to be there to
- 1:01:06take up the slack if you let it. I mean, it is in our face so
- 1:01:10much as a society. We'll say things like, oh, I'm
- 1:01:14just a Sinner saved by grace. No, you are not just a Sinner
- 1:01:17saved. But that is not what God teaches
- 1:01:19us. That is that is that is a carnal
- 1:01:22mind. That is what that is.
- 1:01:25And so, but, but it's always there.
- 1:01:27It's always there to take up slack.
- 1:01:28So anyway, hour, hour is up. Is there something else then
- 1:01:32that has to be said? No it doesn't.
- 1:01:35I got to. I got to say something, yet I
- 1:01:37don't blame people either for because I just said.
- 1:01:41I needed to hear this. Too, I need to be a reminder of
- 1:01:43this that I do blame people for not being able to look into and
- 1:01:48believe in God, at least just. Just refusing to even go there
- 1:01:54and looking for God actually says that's a problem we need to
- 1:01:59be. Humble enough?
- 1:01:59To at least. Look at what God's plan is to
- 1:02:02deliver us. It's it's the best one out
- 1:02:05there. There's not another one that
- 1:02:06equals it. Well, there's plenty of other
- 1:02:08plans, but not as good as this. So all right, that's it.
- 1:02:11We're. Going to cut her off.
- 1:02:12There's plenty more that. Could be said, but we'll touch
- 1:02:14that next week, give you a reason to come back and visit
- 1:02:16with us again next week. So anyway, bless you for your
- 1:02:20time. Thanks for your input brothers.
- 1:02:21I really appreciate it and many others do too.
- 1:02:24Thanks for being on and everybody else that's listening
- 1:02:26on all the different platforms appreciate it very much.
- 1:02:29God bless you. I pray that God would keep you
- 1:02:32in His pure and holy position that He placed you in and that
- 1:02:36you would realize it. God bless you, see you later.
