- 0:00SPEAKER_01: You know, Allie Payne, sometimes you just need a cold one.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: You know, it's a hot day.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, especially after mowing the lawn?
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: No, that's a good time for a nice cold one.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: That's the best time.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: You're sweating, you're feeling it, you're like, I've put in effort to make everything look a certain way.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: I need that yellow gold.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, woman, go crab grab me a cold one.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: And sometimes.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: Go get it yourself.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Sometimes this happens, and you should not have a cold one.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: You want to drink?
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: Bah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: What?
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: You don't drink beer.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: You can have apple juice.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: Uh.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: You're not getting beer.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: No, that toddler's not getting beer.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Obviously, they see their parents drinking enough beer that they go, well, yeah, that's what I want.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Well, didn't you as a kid, whenever it was New Year's Eve, you always drank out of a wine glass, you'd be drinking like juice or something out of a wine glass because your parents were?
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: You tried to emulate the fanciness in your mind.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: You knew it was a fancy.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: I thought you were gonna say, didn't you always go around and drink the remnants of all the drinks that people left behind?
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, nah.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: That's the sign of an early problem.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: That's disgusting.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: I never did that.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: You never did that?
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: I never did either, but I used to hear those stories.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, gosh.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: You know, it's like, oh, my parents didn't drink.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's the access wasn't there like on Thanksgiving.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: Well, well, unless I was at my friend Heather's house, then her parents, it was always accessible.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Every single little thing.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Like we went camping.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Camping was the first time I ever had an alcoholic beverage touch my lips.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: I won't tell you the age, it's not important.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: But I just remember her mom going, Hey, she smoked Winston Winston's Trisha's her name.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: She's like, Alicia, you want to try some strawberry diaquin?
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Sure, why not?
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: And I remember taking a sip.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: And I remember taking a sip and going, that's terrible.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you just brought back another core memory.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: What was it, the name of those parks?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: The ones that had the Yogi Bear Parks.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: That's where they were set up.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: There's one in Bath.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Is there Yeah, that's where they were set up, somewhere, you know, outside the uh the remnants of Cleveland.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: At the Yogi Bear Park.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Totally.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: With their Winnebago.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: And the uh ha ha, how's this for a mental image?
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: And that like tent that would come out uh from the side of the uh camper.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the awning.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the awning.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: They're all sitting around campfire.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you want a dick and read.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: She's so hard up she can't find her lighter.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: She's leaning into the campfire to light the Winston.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Gosh, yeah.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: We've all seen this.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: This is called the 80s, my friends.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I'm surprised Trisha even has eyebrows.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: I'm telling you, you think I'm nuts.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: This was the 80s.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, and she always wore either like a Tweety Bird or a Sylvester Salon.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Not Sylvester Sloan.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: That was a good one.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: She sure did, yes.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Well before.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: She had a dolphin and a heart.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: And then her husband, now you never hear this name anymore.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Close.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Gary.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have a brother, Gary.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Gary's are coming back.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Don't hit the Gary too hard.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Baby Gary?
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: No, no, if it was a Barry, that would have been different.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: A berry, a Hank, a Butch.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: You don't get those anymore.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: How many 17-year-olds do you see running through Elmira High School?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Hey, it's Butch.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: There he is.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: No.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: You don't get them.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: But a bow, not a butch.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: A bow you get a bow.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: But let me just paint the picture for you even more.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Trisha was a curvy lady and had a nice, flowy, mulody- kind of hairstyle.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: Where it was the one where it was Star at Walmart just the other day.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: It was straight.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: She always, it was very, it was always brushed nicely.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: And it was, but it was straight and just kind of flowed.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Anyway, so besides just what you got with the Tweety Bird t-shirt, flowy hair, Winston cigarettes.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Laying them off the campfire.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Gary was a very little man.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Little little man.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: And so she would be like, Alicia, if the campus are rockin', don't come a knocking.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: It all evens out in the stack.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Gary may be four foot three, but he's right there.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I fed my drink on his head.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: And Gary always wore sweatpants.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: And his t-shirt was always tucked into his sweatpants.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: Every single time.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: If I went to well, I have been to their house within the past couple years.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Is Gary and Trish still alive?
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't have expected Trish to be still with us.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's true.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: So I I'm only 43.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I mean her cholesterol in 1988 sounded like it was rocking.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: Well, Trisha had Heather at a very early age.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: So she's actually a young mom.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: And by young, I mean like, uh, let's see, if I'm 43.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: She's not even 63, I don't think.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, wow.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think she's like 62.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: I got knocked up when I was 17.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Here at the here at the bounty rubble campsite.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Not by Kerry.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Kerry's my second husband.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Butch is in jail.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: Love of my life.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I just want to point out.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: This is my childhood.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is the 80s.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Are you kidding me?
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Does anybody else, did anybody else just catch how it went?
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: I was playing you the clip of this toddler wanting a beer.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: And it went totally turned into core memories of the 80s.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Wait, hold on a second.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, not Yogi Bear.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Natalie.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Jellystone.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Jelly Stone, that's it.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yogi.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: And those were the times, but the memories are still great.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: I think you'll see it, yes.
