- 0:14Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:16I'm Luke and this is Amber. Hello.
- 0:19Together we're the Lord and Lady who lock horns.
- 0:21The count and Countess of contention.
- 0:23The Duke and Duchess of Disagreement.
- 0:25And the king and queen of quarrels.
- 0:27In this podcast, we argue about all things big and small.
- 0:30We use the very scientific method of counting your votes to
- 0:34determine who the winner is. Many of our topics are
- 0:38frequently submitted by our listeners, which we actually
- 0:40like and need, so if you have something you want us to battle
- 0:43about, please share it with us at arguingeverafter@gmail.com.
- 0:48And here we are with some exciting news.
- 0:52Party time. Some folks may have already
- 0:55heard it, but not everybody. That's true.
- 0:57We have certainly some listeners only we put it all over social
- 1:03media. Yeah, we did.
- 1:04Because we're kind of annoying like that.
- 1:06Well, we got to be. We have to be right.
- 1:08You all want to know. I want to get in everyone's ear.
- 1:11I do too. I do too, and in that effort we
- 1:17are going to be on a radio station.
- 1:21Yes, we are a local radio station here in Saint Paul.
- 1:25It's WFNU Frogtown Radio. Yes, and Frogtown is the
- 1:30nickname of a neighborhood in Saint Paul where we did a lot of
- 1:36our growing up. Yeah, so it's really fun.
- 1:39I mean, you can also find it online, You can stream it.
- 1:42It's a really great station with a, gosh, just a bunch of stuff
- 1:46you don't find everywhere else. And I really would recommend you
- 1:50go look WFN. You Frogtown Radio?
- 1:53Yeah. Maybe you'll find something you
- 1:54like that isn't us. I know, but obviously look for
- 1:58us too on there. So we're.
- 1:59Going to be on Fridays at midnight.
- 2:01Now what we're doing is they're airing.
- 2:04They're we're airing, yeah, our podcast that, you know, we
- 2:09already have released and recorded because our main
- 2:11delivery is through the nation of podcasting.
- 2:15Yes. But getting to more listeners on
- 2:19a very cool local radio station in our hometown is super fun for
- 2:23us. We got to go to like a little
- 2:25radio station mixer over the week and we got to meet all of
- 2:30the different volunteers. It's a nonprofit radio, so we
- 2:33got to meet all the different volunteers who are the different
- 2:37broadcasters for all the times and line UPS throughout the days
- 2:40and and so many very interesting people.
- 2:43And we had a lot of fun discussions and like my
- 2:46extrovert was like, I was in party time OverDrive for a few
- 2:51hours. It was awesome.
- 2:52It was. You did very good.
- 2:54I did really good. I was a little nervous about how
- 2:58I would do because settings like that are usually difficult for
- 3:01someone like me. Introvert.
- 3:03She's an introvert, in case she's not a vampire.
- 3:06I'm an introvert. I mean, I can do fine in social
- 3:09settings, but I'm like one of those people I I can't talk to a
- 3:12whole slew of people at once very well and feel comfortable.
- 3:15And you're really good if you know people.
- 3:16If I know people and it was really fun because like a lot of
- 3:19these people, almost immediate friendships, maybe it's just
- 3:22because we all have interest in hearing ourselves talk.
- 3:25I have no idea almost for sure, but they're they were so fun.
- 3:29It was just a lot of fun. I was afterwards, so we're
- 3:34getting in the car, you know, and I'd said to Luke I was like,
- 3:37oh, I'm not even having too much stress, sweat or anything like
- 3:41that. I did not know you sweat when
- 3:46you're like in a delivery setting, you said.
- 3:49Oh yeah, I get it really bad when I'm doing a presentation.
- 3:52Yes, yeah. What?
- 3:54I had no idea. Yeah, I love a presentation.
- 3:58Put. Me in front of the room.
- 4:00No. So if there's anybody I work
- 4:02with who maybe has seen me present, yes.
- 4:04I was sweating, I promise, but it was so cool.
- 4:09I mean, like this radio show. I mean, we met people who were
- 4:11kind of DJs and then there was a food, the Umbuji food critic,
- 4:16food critic, but just. There's a couple that talks
- 4:20about relationships, there's a bunch of cool stuff.
- 4:24Yeah. And there were a couple who had
- 4:26been there, you know, doing this stuff for 10 years.
- 4:30Not a couple, a couple of guys who'd been there for 10 years.
- 4:34Really lovely, lovely people. I don't know where this is going
- 4:37to grow to, but I regardless. I hope and and I believe that we
- 4:43will get some new listeners, followers and sharers.
- 4:48That's our hope and learn things right from other people who are.
- 4:51I mean, we are fortunate that we're not live.
- 4:56That's true because we can go fix things that we say.
- 4:58Yeah, this is our third take I. Think we're yeah, 3 or 4, I
- 5:02can't remember. They do have, though, a video
- 5:07podcast booth setup there that's like super advanced.
- 5:13It's a little bit more high tech than our couch ring light
- 5:18smartphone and Bluetooth microphones from Amazon.
- 5:22Well, and I was talking with one of the DJs there and he had said
- 5:29maybe we could do a collaboration on something and I
- 5:31thought this would be great. So I don't know.
- 5:34That was actually like, we've had people say that people that
- 5:37we know over the months, then you know that we've been doing
- 5:40this and that's always fun and cool.
- 5:43But to have like people that are actually in the business of
- 5:48putting themselves out there on the radio in a professional
- 5:51setting say that they want to collaborate is like, wow, that's
- 5:54totally different and really cool.
- 5:56Well, and that they're reachable, right?
- 5:59Like we've had a couple of people online say that, but it's
- 6:01like, you know, like that interaction, I think, I don't
- 6:04know. I don't know, check them out.
- 6:07And we can certainly add some more information when we get
- 6:09closer, for sure. Or all we are, we might already
- 6:13be on the radio, but you know what?
- 6:15We're not well. By the time, yeah, by the time
- 6:17this releases, we will have been on 2/2 times.
- 6:20I can't do math. But I don't know we're it.
- 6:22Might be three or two, I don't know.
- 6:25Yeah, we're excited. And I feel like it's one of
- 6:28those things that, well, obviously we are super, super
- 6:31unprofessional or anything like that.
- 6:33You know, it's, it's like a little nudge that, you know,
- 6:35hey, it's, it's, it's interesting to enough people for
- 6:39sure that someone was like, we've got you.
- 6:41We went on the radio and we're all for that.
- 6:45So, so, but again, we are looking at where we are today in
- 6:53our in our lineups and stuff like that and coming off of a
- 6:57holiday, which technically we haven't hit yet, but, and you're
- 7:01listening. Yeah, we're off a holiday.
- 7:05We were kind of looking through some of our topics and, and
- 7:07something came to me that I really wanted to discuss.
- 7:12And after thinking about it a little bit more, I thought
- 7:16actually the timing's really well.
- 7:18OK, so picture it. Picture this.
- 7:22Sicily, Yeah, 1950. Three December the World, 1999.
- 7:31Oh, OK. Yes.
- 7:35He knows where I'm going with yeah, I do.
- 7:38Everybody in the world was unsure what would happen come
- 7:43January 1st, 2000. It's still so crazy to think
- 7:48that that was actually a thing that nobody thought of when they
- 7:51were building computers and clocks.
- 7:54Right, right. Wait, we need another digit for
- 7:57a new Millennium? Oh boy.
- 7:59So for the youths who have no idea what we're talking about.
- 8:03Yeah, there was a time, Picture this picture.
- 8:07There was a time when there was no smartphone, right?
- 8:13There was know, barely, barely a cell phone by the late 90s.
- 8:18Like, they were there, but like, not everybody had them.
- 8:22There were still pagers out there in the wild.
- 8:26You had to get your information from the news and the newspaper.
- 8:30Yeah, there was not social media.
- 8:33No, I think Myspace existed. Oh, I don't know, in the late
- 8:3590s. Oh yeah, it did.
- 8:37It did it. Did 99?
- 8:38It would have, yeah. But it wasn't like, I mean, it
- 8:41was rare to like be on my like I never had it in my.
- 8:44Space and. Like I know 10 people that did
- 8:47or something. And so, yeah, like you, you just
- 8:50got your information from like, like the analog sources as they
- 8:55call them now or or legacy media as it's called now.
- 9:01Well, so all of us, I don't know, non tech people heard that
- 9:07there was going to be a problem. Because the tech people said it
- 9:10was going to be a problem. Because the computers weren't
- 9:14set up with the year 2000. Yeah, and there were people that
- 9:17thought, and this was actually reported on the news and
- 9:20newspapers, that there was the potential for nuclear bombs to
- 9:25go off. Oh, I don't.
- 9:26Remember the nuclear bomb that was?
- 9:28Part of the reason people thought the world was going to
- 9:30end is because if all the clocks don't reset correctly and they
- 9:33trigger the bombs, we may all just get turned to glass.
- 9:38Wow, wow, that was part. Of the party, like it's a 1999
- 9:41vibe. It was like, you know, well
- 9:43what, what if all this just wrecks everything and we die,
- 9:47right? I remember the big thing being
- 9:49like for banking systems, everything shutting down, like
- 9:52you wouldn't be able to spend money because we were really
- 9:55digital then too, you know, I mean, it was the.
- 9:58Beginning of the digital age for sure, right?
- 10:00But. I mean like all of your banking
- 10:01stuff would have been online. You could dial.
- 10:03Up to the Internet? By plugging into a phone line
- 10:05and listening to the tone of doom?
- 10:08Sure. Enough things were digitized
- 10:09that if if it couldn't handle the change of going from 1999 to
- 10:152000, literally the everything as we knew it would have been
- 10:20gone for sure. I mean, our workplaces were
- 10:24concerned like everybody, like are they going to figure it out
- 10:28in time? That was the big question.
- 10:30There was a. Lot of money spent on IT to try
- 10:33to figure out, I don't know, 'cause I, I, that was nowhere
- 10:35near the world I was working in, but to spend or to figure out
- 10:39how to ensure that. January 1, 2000.
- 10:43I mean, and, and I remember sitting there like, is the TV
- 10:46going to turn off? Like, we weren't sure we were
- 10:49sitting there at, you know, 32. One and we're.
- 10:52Like, OK, we're we. Made it.
- 10:56Nothing happened. Yay.
- 11:00It was just so funny. I mean, and and thinking about
- 11:02it now, like thankfully, I'm sure.
- 11:06I hope they have something there for 2100.
- 11:08I don't know it maybe. What if they planned ahead
- 11:10though? I bet.
- 11:11They did, I bet. I don't know, maybe there's or
- 11:15at least 2/5 numbers. I'll bet you they added a
- 11:18character. Maybe, yeah, that's enough to
- 11:20get into Star Trek timing, is that.
- 11:22OK, I have no idea when that happens, but anyhow, it it was
- 11:27kind of tying into what I was thinking about, which was like
- 11:30the concepts of the end of the world.
- 11:33You know, there's been a ton of movies about it, maybe not ton,
- 11:36but enough movies about it. There was that really big one
- 11:40with gosh, that guy Leonardo DiCaprio, wasn't it?
- 11:43I don't know, couple years ago that was the end of the world.
- 11:47Yeah, but that was about like a comet or a meteor or something.
- 11:50But yeah, sure. No, but I don't know.
- 11:53I actually didn't watch. I saw just the ending, which is
- 11:56probably the worst thing to do. What?
- 11:58Was that called? It was actually kind of good.
- 12:00It was a big deal movie. I don't.
- 12:03Know. Don't look up.
- 12:04Don't look. Yeah, that's what it was.
- 12:05Called. I only watched the last couple.
- 12:07I mean, I you probably. Fell asleep.
- 12:09I don't. Know I wasn't really that
- 12:11interested in it because I mean like the concept of the end of
- 12:14the world is, is something I, I don't know, I don't know about,
- 12:19but it's funny because there's always in movies the reasons I
- 12:23ever watch it are the types of things I like to watch, you
- 12:26know, will be, you know, like the government knows and they're
- 12:30not telling anybody and you know, like the do we tell like
- 12:33aliens. Like.
- 12:34Aliens. Yeah, or a meteor like in that.
- 12:37What was that one movie? Gosh, I'm going to a lot of
- 12:40movies with Bruce Willis. And yes, that was.
- 12:45A great movie, yes. I don't know if they told the
- 12:48people, they must have told the people, because why would you
- 12:51have the drilling? Yeah, it was.
- 12:52No, it was the whole thing and you know, the whole world was
- 12:54watching and in the movie they were like watching the TV.
- 12:58Kind of like Y2K, but obviously different, right?
- 13:01Right. Well, and I think like with some
- 13:03of those, like people have those shelters that they've built.
- 13:07What I don't know about I don't know.
- 13:09End of World Fallout. Shelters.
- 13:11Oh, maybe. That's what it's called, Yeah.
- 13:13I was watching ATV show recently.
- 13:15There was a TV show called like. Survivalists or something there?
- 13:18Was a really funny TV show with this.
- 13:22Oh gosh, isn't. There like a big bunker, like a
- 13:25government bunker where they have like all the.
- 13:27Seeds. DNA.
- 13:28And plant seeds and like, all kinds of sciency stuff, yeah.
- 13:33They're ready. I want to.
- 13:34Check it out. I don't is it?
- 13:36Do they have like a swanky section I feel like but isn't it
- 13:39like. In Antarctica or something, I
- 13:41don't know. I would.
- 13:42Be willing to bet that the Super rich have like purchased plots
- 13:47of land and just dug down deep and spent millions of dollars to
- 13:52build like mega swanky cool like living places that were stocked
- 13:57to the brim with unexpiring canned goods and freeze dried
- 14:03meals and. Yeah.
- 14:05Oh, no. All this stuff exists.
- 14:06It's kind of. Scary to think that if the world
- 14:08ends, only the Super rich are gonna survive.
- 14:11I mean. It's scary for them.
- 14:13They're. Screwed.
- 14:14Right, right. Who's gonna do?
- 14:16All the work I don't. Know but like, I mean, they'll
- 14:20they'll. I don't know they'll survive
- 14:21till the end then I'm sure they have enough they figured out.
- 14:23OK, if I'm gonna live 40 years, this is how much food I need.
- 14:26Sure. Or what have you, I don't know.
- 14:28And maybe. They're gonna bring their staff
- 14:30with them, but this is. Yeah, of course.
- 14:32Why? I mean, if you can build a
- 14:34Fallout Shelter or something, you can build a couple extra
- 14:37rooms for other people that you're like, I want you to come,
- 14:41you know? But like, how do you choose all
- 14:43of that? Oh, that's a whole nother.
- 14:45Who would you choose? Oh, that's a good we could talk
- 14:50about that right now. I feel like, well it would
- 14:53depend on what you had for space, but.
- 14:56I'm gonna make it really hard on you.
- 14:58Oh, you have? This isn't the question, but
- 15:00this is a question you. Have room for four people.
- 15:05Four, I'm not going to answer that because I might alienate.
- 15:09I'm not. I refuse.
- 15:11Clearly. Clearly you and our child are.
- 15:14Yeah, of course. Of the Is it 4 plus me or
- 15:17including me? No.
- 15:19Including, including. Me so just one more person I get
- 15:22to bring. What if we had like 4 kids?
- 15:25Well, we don't. Is it just?
- 15:26A + 1 scenario. So like, yeah, I'm not answering
- 15:30the question, not at all. I don't know the answer.
- 15:34I have some thoughts and they're controversial, I'll tell you
- 15:37that. OK.
- 15:38And so who would yours be? It would be you, our daughter,
- 15:43and you, listener. OMG you're bringing the audience
- 15:48with just. Just you who's listening right
- 15:52now that's. Controversial and everyone knows
- 15:55that you're lying to them. It's a lie.
- 15:59No, they don't. Oh my goodness, chances are.
- 16:02It is a listener. I mean, I'm not, I was thinking
- 16:05about this. I'm not kidding.
- 16:07This is messed up. Now, I'm going to just say it
- 16:09because you got me into and I, I say some controversial stuff, so
- 16:14it's not gonna be one of my parents.
- 16:17And I think they would agree with me.
- 16:19What about the dog? Yeah, Well, OK, so anyway, so I
- 16:25would lovingly part with them and it would wreck me, right,
- 16:33For sure. Well, you're losing everybody,
- 16:35yeah, but I think. That they would agree.
- 16:37I really do. It's hard to know for sure
- 16:40because people are so very motivated for self preservation,
- 16:46right? That, you know, I mean, it's,
- 16:48it's, it's wild our, our drive to, to live knowing that each
- 16:53one of us is guaranteed to die. It's kind of wild to even think
- 16:57about. But, but I think that my parents
- 16:59would say no, that's right. And I, I don't know who actually
- 17:02the, the 4th would be, but I think it would be a close
- 17:08friend. Cuz I think you need family and
- 17:11I think you need a friend outside of family.
- 17:14I think I. Don't see and that's really that
- 17:16is. Tough it is.
- 17:17Tough. I don't know that I'd want to
- 17:18actually be in the shelter because like, what?
- 17:21You just want to die? That's a.
- 17:22Lot of work. Well, you can't.
- 17:23Because I picked you. Ha ha ha.
- 17:26Oh, that's a good point. Why do I have to be in the
- 17:29shelter? Because I.
- 17:30Need you there? No but if.
- 17:31It's my shelter. What?
- 17:34I don't have to be in the shelter.
- 17:35You're just. Going to go die you.
- 17:38Are child and two listen. Oh man.
- 17:45Yeah, I don't know. That's a really interesting you.
- 17:48For sure would save yourself. I know you would.
- 17:51For the sake of our child, I'm sure you well, OK.
- 17:54That would be the hard There's no.
- 17:55Way that you would let yourself go while she's destroyed over
- 18:00you leaving. There's no way you would do
- 18:02that. I don't.
- 18:03Know that's now we're getting way deeper.
- 18:05I just was well. It's a heck of a question.
- 18:08It is a. Heck of a question.
- 18:09I didn't even. It wasn't even something I
- 18:11thought about beforehand. We did.
- 18:13Talk about should we expand on this topic in future episodes?
- 18:16And that maybe could have been a future episode, But I'm glad we
- 18:19talked about it now, yes. And, and we could, we could have
- 18:22really talked about it in great depth the 4th.
- 18:24Person I'm gonna bring is gonna be some sort of either science
- 18:29person that helps us find new survival or survivalist type or
- 18:34farmer type. I don't, I don't know.
- 18:37There's a lot of possibilities in there.
- 18:40Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I guess it, but some of
- 18:42it. I mean, I've grown.
- 18:43Stuff. I've put a seed in dirt before
- 18:45and watered it. I don't know.
- 18:47I mean, like, you don't know what the other end is going to
- 18:49be unless you have that information like, well, it's
- 18:51going to be. Bad.
- 18:52I mean, if you're going into a Fallout Shelter, we're talking
- 18:54nuclear winter. This is what they call it, where
- 18:57all the things die, right? Right.
- 19:00I don't want to. I don't want to live through
- 19:02that. I don't know.
- 19:03That sounds awful. I don't want to.
- 19:05There was a movie. That came out about that
- 19:07recently that I wanted to watch where like they had, they had
- 19:11done the math and like enough people had survived and they had
- 19:14then they were like, OK, so then here's where we are on the earth
- 19:18and where we need to get to. But it they were way wrong.
- 19:20And so they went out of the shelter and like had to traverse
- 19:24like all of a continent or something to get to the place
- 19:27that was supposed to be safe. And I didn't see the movie.
- 19:30So of course I don't know what happened, but I imagine they
- 19:33arrived safely through much trial and tribulation.
- 19:35I can't. Imagine though, anyone who has a
- 19:37Fallout Shelter will be like, hey, I have spot for four, let's
- 19:41leave it up to these two podcasters.
- 19:43I feel like we wouldn't. Why not?
- 19:46No, we're not hitting anyone's. That's a bummer.
- 19:49Are we not anyone's 4th? I'm really sad about that.
- 19:53Yeah, We're Not One's 4th. But they can continue to listen
- 19:58to us after What if we are? What if we don't know and we
- 20:01are? That would be nice.
- 20:01That would be nice. To know, I'll think that you
- 20:04know what if you're. Listening and you and you think
- 20:06we're maybe one of your fourths just or your plus your plus one
- 20:10is really the math because you might have 4 in your so the idea
- 20:13was plus one don't so. Just which one, though?
- 20:15Let us know. If we're A + 1, Oh, yeah, Don't
- 20:17say it's Luke or it's Amber. Yeah, don't say that.
- 20:19I don't. I don't want to know.
- 20:21Oh, that would be hard too. Like, what if you got picked as
- 20:23a + 1 and then it just separate from your family to survive?
- 20:27Oh. Gosh, do you go like this?
- 20:29This is way too deep. Oh, this is way too deep.
- 20:32I don't think I. Would go.
- 20:34No, if it was. Bail on you and our child.
- 20:37I don't think that's happening. Why?
- 20:38I have zero. I've already told you I didn't
- 20:40even want to go in at all. I'm.
- 20:42Sticking it out, Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 20:45So the original question, this wasn't even it, but we got into
- 20:49some interesting. We'll sidetrack there.
- 20:52Was if you, Well, this isn't the great question, but the great
- 20:58question. The great question, if you knew
- 21:02like a month before the end of the world, yeah.
- 21:05Would you tell people? Well, I thought that was the
- 21:09question, no? That's not the question.
- 21:13It's like a month before the end of the world.
- 21:15You happen to know that it will be the end of the world.
- 21:20Would you tell people? Specificity here is problematic
- 21:23for my brain. This isn't the.
- 21:24Big question. You don't need to worry.
- 21:26There's no vote tied to this. I understand, but OK, so my
- 21:30answer to the it's a month is I don't I don't think I'm telling
- 21:36because the word gets out and then and then we don't we run
- 21:39out of food. Yes, right.
- 21:41That's the real truth because everyone's going to be like I'm
- 21:43bailing, right? So not interested in working
- 21:48anymore. And so then that would mean, you
- 21:51know, like the food supply and there would be a crazy, I mean,
- 21:55you saw what happened with COVID and toilet paper.
- 21:57People were like, what? I'm not going to be able to wipe
- 22:00my behind or whatever. Like I need to, I'm going to go
- 22:03buy all the toilet paper. And that was just because there
- 22:05was like, you didn't know if you knew the world was going to end,
- 22:10there would be people like killing each other trying to
- 22:12just stockpile food, Right, Right.
- 22:15So I that's I'm not. Trying to that's a all right.
- 22:18So let's go like 10 days out. I don't know how the supply
- 22:28chain of the world works. That's oh.
- 22:30I bet there is a number. There probably is I.
- 22:33Bet you just. I bet you that everyone.
- 22:35Just stopped working. How many days do we?
- 22:41Have oh I should have googled that but I didn't.
- 22:43This this wasn't going to be our original topic for the day so I
- 22:46did 0 research. You're getting close to it, OK.
- 22:50One week. Is is that you've?
- 22:57Known for three weeks. No, no.
- 22:58You know what? You know what?
- 22:59I'm not. I'm not.
- 23:00Where do you get to answer? You've been putting me on.
- 23:03How about you? No, I wouldn't.
- 23:07A week. And you're not?
- 23:08No. No, I wouldn't tell anybody.
- 23:12Why not? So?
- 23:15Because there would be enough panic, even like you were
- 23:18talking about with the toilet paper and stuff that we've gone
- 23:21through in the past, there would be enough panic that people
- 23:27would stop doing things. And for a week, Did I say a week
- 23:33or did I say 10 days? OK.
- 23:36Also, selfishly, that would mean I couldn't do anything for a
- 23:40week. Nobody's around doing it.
- 23:43Like everybody's like, great, I'm going to do whatever I'm
- 23:45going to do for the last seven days.
- 23:47You're still going to have panic.
- 23:48You're still going to have greed.
- 23:49You're still going to have all of those things that, you know,
- 23:52like are really difficult. You know how if you you're like,
- 23:57great. But if you say I want to go
- 23:58visit my family, well, it's a week.
- 24:00I don't have enough gas or whatever to drive my car.
- 24:04You'll have a run on the gas stations because everybody's
- 24:06going to be like, I want to make sure I get to wherever it was
- 24:09the last place I wanted to get to within driving distance
- 24:12because you're not going to have pilots flying or anything like
- 24:15that. So there would be all of that.
- 24:18And I probably very selfishly would be like, great, no, I do
- 24:21want to actually go somewhere. And if I don't have gas in my
- 24:24tank, I'm not going anywhere. So I'm stuck for a week without
- 24:30you could. Ride a bike.
- 24:32But not if it was tomorrow. By the way, the Illuminati did
- 24:37not tell us anything. This is not a hint.
- 24:40Wow. Like we don't actually know
- 24:42listener. If you were thinking we had
- 24:44insider info on that, the Illuminati.
- 24:47Has not went in the world we. Don't no we.
- 24:49Don't which is. Probably for the best it's.
- 24:52Really for the best cuz we would podcast about it or just.
- 24:55Gonna talk about it. By the way, y'all.
- 25:00So sorry to break it to you this way.
- 25:02Yeah, yeah. Wow.
- 25:04How would you want to? No, no, just kidding.
- 25:07Oh my. Goodness.
- 25:09Yeah, so I wouldn't I wouldn't tell anybody.
- 25:11OK, what would you do in a week? Oh, you weren't sure?
- 25:16I. Mean feel like there's probably
- 25:20enough supply OK to get through a week.
- 25:25So then I feel like I would tell, I mean, like, I, I
- 25:29probably wouldn't take it upon myself to be the guy that told
- 25:32the world necessarily, but I would tell enough people that I
- 25:39cared about probably so that they could quit their jobs and,
- 25:45you know, live there last week as they'd wish.
- 25:48Yeah, but. Then the word's going to get
- 25:50out, so sure. But maybe not fast enough that
- 25:53it becomes hugely problematic. OK, three days.
- 25:58Why do you keep? Why?
- 25:59Not. OMG, well, if I said yes at a
- 26:02week, I'm going to say yes at three days.
- 26:03Well, OK. You said just a few people.
- 26:06You said you were going to say it a week.
- 26:07Your friends like the world. Would you tell the world the
- 26:11world is ending in three days, I mean.
- 26:13Probably because I would want everyone to have that chance.
- 26:16But also, like, I would be totally terrified of like, you
- 26:21know, that movie. We're talking about movies.
- 26:23We talk about movies a lot. Do you know that movie, The
- 26:25Purge, which I've never watched? Do you know the premise?
- 26:28No. So I.
- 26:29Don't either, but where? Were you going to talk about I
- 26:33think I. Know enough that I'm going to
- 26:35attempt to say what I think the the premise.
- 26:38So it's I think I think and feel free to correct me audience.
- 26:41They will. I think it's the the the
- 26:46government or something. It's like there's some sort of
- 26:50like, Oh my gosh, like there's no crime.
- 26:55And then one day out of the year.
- 26:58Everything. Is legal, Yeah, I've.
- 27:00Heard of this SO? People like go bonkers while
- 27:04they go all murdery and bad things and it's not, it's not
- 27:09healthy, it sounds. Awful it's not.
- 27:11Good. So I guess I'd be worried about
- 27:14the darker side of human nature coming out because it almost
- 27:19certainly would in a lot of cases.
- 27:21And I don't want to be like unsafe in my own end of the
- 27:25world scenario. So I don't know, Like I feel
- 27:29like I would want everyone to know, but I would be super
- 27:31concerned that somebody would want to come hurt me or mine.
- 27:36Why would? They want to hurt you.
- 27:37What have you done? What if I?
- 27:38Because I'm the guy that told them, I don't know, killed a
- 27:40messenger, right? I guess I never really thought
- 27:43about that being a the Messengers.
- 27:45Get killed a lot. I just want you to know.
- 27:47Do they? Yeah.
- 27:48In the movies, well. No, I was in history like, you
- 27:51know, like our actual, like human history.
- 27:54OK, There's a reason that seeing exists.
- 27:57Well, sure, but I'm saying because.
- 27:58Back in the day, don't do it. The messenger, she just got
- 28:02killed, which doesn't. Seem like a very effective way
- 28:05for communication. Like if you're like, hey, I
- 28:07don't like the message you're sending, send the person back
- 28:09and then do him on the other side.
- 28:12What if they just sent back part of the person?
- 28:15That's a pretty effective answer, wouldn't you say?
- 28:18Oh, I. Suppose I would have never came
- 28:20up with that solution. Why are you coming?
- 28:22Up with that right to it without an issue.
- 28:25Wow, wow. It's a little sick and twisted I
- 28:27was. Imagining it was back in the
- 28:29like, Middle Ages or something and you were like the ruler of a
- 28:33fiefdom and some opposition came and said we're going to take
- 28:38your land or something and you just do them in and then send
- 28:42back the, I don't know, the hand of the person or something.
- 28:46That's super interesting and just.
- 28:48Write Nope. On the hand.
- 28:53Yeah, OK, OK, just Nope. On the hand and then yeah.
- 28:58No, all right, all right. That was not anything I would
- 29:02have come up with, but you know, I I'd have been like, send them
- 29:06back and maybe I'm part. Of the problem I think you.
- 29:08Are and. Well, we don't.
- 29:10Know, I know. The good news is we don't know
- 29:11when the world's gonna. End Don't tell Luke because
- 29:14Luke's got a plan. So I don't.
- 29:16Just say no, no I don't. No, no, we're not cutting people
- 29:19up. This is not part of my plan If.
- 29:21You are sounds pretty gross. The representative of the
- 29:25asteroid. Sure, Luke.
- 29:27Will say no and send your hand back to the asteroid, weirdly.
- 29:32I would have no problem doing in an alien species really, if
- 29:37they're here, if they're here to destroy us, not asteroid, but
- 29:41like, you know, a hostile force. Interesting, I mean.
- 29:46Here, if it's a hostile force and they're coming to take me
- 29:48down, I'm going to take you down.
- 29:50Interesting. I don't know how I would feel
- 29:52about that. I don't know if I'm.
- 29:53Capable though, because most likely if there's a if there's a
- 29:57alien species that's space ready, they probably have better
- 30:02weaponry. So maybe potentially they would
- 30:05be like, oh, cool, you want to Take Me Out?
- 30:07Not happening. Here's my laser gun.
- 30:09Yeah, I'm in Star Wars. Hey yo, we got a Star Wars
- 30:13reference. I think we're.
- 30:15At about half the show, just need a.
- 30:16Blaster. Is that in Star Wars?
- 30:18Yeah, a blaster. Are you kidding?
- 30:21OK, good. Not at all.
- 30:24The laser. Guns that everyone uses in Star
- 30:26Wars are blasts. The Pew.
- 30:27Pew. Pew.
- 30:28Pew. Yep, that's a.
- 30:29Blaster. OK.
- 30:30Hey, for those of you who also didn't know it was called a
- 30:33blaster, now you know. Great fact.
- 30:37Great fact. OK, so.
- 30:40Interesting. You would, but you would tell
- 30:44people. Yeah, I.
- 30:46Wouldn't. I don't know.
- 30:47I don't even know. You wouldn't even.
- 30:49Tell me you just no, just we're all going to die.
- 30:52Yeah. And you're keeping it to
- 30:53yourself. Yeah.
- 30:54I. Would keep it to myself man,
- 30:55that's. Messed up, I don't.
- 30:57I don't know that what would you?
- 30:58Do differently what? What?
- 31:00Do you mean are you just going to keep on accurate?
- 31:02Because if you don't tell someone like, like, are you
- 31:05going to work? See, it's, it's suspicious.
- 31:13You just be like, oh, I'm not working today.
- 31:15Oh, I'm not working. I'm not working again today.
- 31:19Then if you're not telling me the truth or, or our child, you
- 31:23got a feign sickness for however many days it is to carry out the
- 31:29lie that you've told your work is I'm not going to work.
- 31:32And then you gotta, well, I'm not going to work because I'm
- 31:34sick. Well, you don't look sick to me.
- 31:36I don't. Know that that's not true,
- 31:38right? How do I know that I'm not sick?
- 31:42I mean, I don't know what you're talking about right now, but
- 31:44sickness comes with symptoms. Right, I don't know that I'm not
- 31:47you're saying? You're currently a walking
- 31:49symptom machine. I could.
- 31:50Be right. I mean that sounds like who
- 31:53knows, maybe it is delusional. I don't know it's I would I
- 31:56would definitely doubt my own knowledge even if it was like
- 32:00there's no way it's not true. I'd be like, I don't know, I
- 32:04don't. Think I don't think.
- 32:05No, I don't. You would.
- 32:06You would tell. You would tell, I'm pretty sure.
- 32:09OK. Well, Luke, let me ask you a
- 32:11question. OK, so ladies and gentlemen,
- 32:16here we are. The moment you've all been
- 32:17waiting for in this corner, claiming to weigh in at 135 lbs
- 32:22with a popping fresh haircut. Yes.
- 32:25Thank you, Renee looking. Tight.
- 32:27Looking good with I'd forgot which.
- 32:35You're winning. You're gonna have to do the
- 32:36count. OK, I'll let him.
- 32:37Your turn. I'll let him know.
- 32:39In this corner we have Luke with a hoodie that I think is maybe
- 32:43getting a little small. Maybe.
- 32:46Maybe it's gonna be my size soon.
- 32:48I like. This hoodie a lot, stay away
- 32:50from my stuff. You're coming in today with
- 32:54seven wins. OK.
- 32:56Five ties, OK. And you have 9 losses.
- 33:03No, there's still a few out there.
- 33:06We're going. The wrong direction I mean.
- 33:08I'm thinking I'm feeling pretty good anyhow, so let me let me
- 33:12ask you a question. Luke I.
- 33:13Literally, we talked so much about the topic I forgot what
- 33:17this specific question is, so I'm excited to hear it.
- 33:19There you go. Let's go.
- 33:22What do you want to know? That the end of the world is
- 33:27coming. OK, So it's the flip side of
- 33:33what we discussed, Yes. So the end of the world is
- 33:37coming, and we don't. The method doesn't necessarily
- 33:40matter whether it's the sun's going to explode or an
- 33:42asteroid's going to hit us or it.
- 33:44Won't matter. Doesn't matter.
- 33:46We're all going to get naked out.
- 33:47Yeah, and we're assuming that we don't currently own a super dope
- 33:52Fallout Shelter. No one.
- 33:54'S invited the podcast OK. So.
- 33:56So we're going to die. Yes.
- 33:59So that's the premise. Do I get a time frame?
- 34:02Is it, I mean, are we, do we got to be specific?
- 34:06I feel like we got to be specific about that.
- 34:07We'll go. A week.
- 34:08So if it's like. Five years out, I heck yeah I
- 34:11want to know, but I'm probably five years.
- 34:13Out probably. Still going to go to work for a
- 34:15little bit because you need money, you know what I mean?
- 34:17Like would you tell? Other people five years out?
- 34:19Oh no. No, because you said the world's
- 34:21got to operate anyway. So I feel like it's got to be a
- 34:24near a near number, like maybe got to be around a week.
- 34:27OK. A.
- 34:27Week. Yeah, I said that.
- 34:28We'll go with the week. Do I want to know the world want
- 34:32to know is going to end? Yes, absolutely yes.
- 34:38Yes, because I I don't want to go to work, no offense.
- 34:42Like I actually enjoy my job and the people I work with.
- 34:46But if I've got 7 days left of, of my life, I want to spend it
- 34:52in a way that has as much meaning as possible.
- 34:57And that probably would require more free time.
- 35:00So you know, like a week is not a lot of time.
- 35:05I don't know if I would want to go like maybe I want to go to a
- 35:08place I haven't been, like go to some beautiful location like
- 35:12vacation style type idea. Or, or maybe maybe it's just
- 35:17that I want to do a lot of interaction with the people I
- 35:20care about and love, and I want to fill my last days with as
- 35:26much connection as I can. And I mean, not going to lie,
- 35:31I'm I'm probably not going to be trying to eat right.
- 35:35I'm probably not eating a salad for lunch every day.
- 35:38And you'll. Be so uncomfortable at day three
- 35:40having a. I'm having a little, I'm not
- 35:42having like a peckish breakfast either.
- 35:44I'm talking we're going to hit it hard.
- 35:47I'm, we're getting hash Browns and eggs and oh God, grits and
- 35:51waffles and just man, I would eat so much food.
- 35:54I bet you I'd gained 40 lbs in a week in a week.
- 35:58I don't even know if that's possible, but I would try.
- 36:03And yes, I would just want to do the stuff that I enjoy.
- 36:06Like I enjoy connecting with people.
- 36:09I enjoy beautiful sights and I enjoy being creative.
- 36:17Like I would probably write some stuff for no one.
- 36:20To read because the world's going to end, but you know.
- 36:23What? But I would probably do it.
- 36:24I would probably do it because it helps me to, you know, it's a
- 36:27culping mechanism often. And I would like to spend time
- 36:33with you and I would like to spend time with our child and,
- 36:36you know, with close friends, with my parents.
- 36:39Like there, there would definitely be a lot to do in
- 36:45that seven days. A lot.
- 36:48I mean, there, you know, you probably wouldn't be able to do
- 36:50all the stuff you wanted, might not be able to go on a go on a
- 36:54sweet vacation to some, some randomly cool beach or mountain
- 36:59or who knows. But I would, I would definitely
- 37:03want to know because I want to live it up.
- 37:05I want to do it right. And for me, that's about it's
- 37:11about connection. It's about love.
- 37:14OK, OK. And you and.
- 37:18Obviously I have to have some kind of an opposing.
- 37:22What if we both had the same answer?
- 37:25What like it wouldn't work for this podcast, But what if we
- 37:29both had the same answer and then just like vote for but we.
- 37:31Didn't. But we don't.
- 37:32No. And we?
- 37:33Don't. Which is weird, no?
- 37:35And I really I got to. Hear this reason now I.
- 37:37Really would not want to know for many reasons because like if
- 37:45I know, I don't know if others know either direction, whether
- 37:49others know or they don't, I feel like it would just be so
- 37:53much grief that I would be going through every day for whatever
- 37:59time frame. If it's a week, if it's ten
- 38:01days, like I would just be grieving.
- 38:05And if I'm alone in that information, because honestly, I
- 38:08wouldn't want to share it because I wouldn't want other
- 38:11people to be scared to be, you know, grieving as well.
- 38:15Like I, I, I don't, it's like the ignorance is bliss.
- 38:23What? Right, right.
- 38:24No, I mean this, I mean this totally.
- 38:25Like think about when we've gone to places where there's going to
- 38:29be some sort of natural just like hurricane, right?
- 38:33And everybody's so scared, you know, like literally there would
- 38:37be a bunch of people who are just so scared.
- 38:39And you're going to have people who are going to try to figure
- 38:41out, well, how, you know, whatever, whatever the solution
- 38:44is, you know, they're going to or there won't be a solution,
- 38:47but try to figure out what the solution is.
- 38:48And this is about. You, not everybody else, I.
- 38:50Know but like this is what I'm saying.
- 38:53Like if I I wouldn't want to know.
- 38:58I also would not share if I knew, right?
- 39:00Like but that wasn't. The question we already did that
- 39:03right, but. I well, actually, I don't know
- 39:05that I did talk too much about that, but I wouldn't want to
- 39:08know because I seriously, I would be sitting there grieving
- 39:13for other people and I would be grieving for my own life and I
- 39:17would be grieving for what could be, you know, and like the the
- 39:22concepts of the future. I don't.
- 39:24So you're just going? To do this alone like big
- 39:27secret. Right, that's what I mean.
- 39:31I, that's probably where I would be because I wouldn't want
- 39:34everyone else to be sad and scared and all of those.
- 39:37I wouldn't want that for people, but I also wouldn't want to know
- 39:42either way. I would not want to know if
- 39:44everyone knew I I wouldn't want to know for myself either,
- 39:48because I would be living in that, right?
- 39:51Like if I don't know and tomorrow I go to, I mean, yeah,
- 39:53I'd probably, I don't know that I would care.
- 39:55We'd see on the other side if I'd have any opinion, if I'd
- 39:59have the ability to have an opinion, all of that.
- 40:01Like, I mean, whatever, I go to work on the last day, I go to
- 40:06work on the last day, you know, like, but I'm not.
- 40:08Scared, messed up. I don't.
- 40:10Think it is and you're just going to.
- 40:11Be sad the whole time and not tell anybody I would.
- 40:14Be very sad. Yeah, Yeah, I would be really
- 40:18sad because like, I mean for a that would be.
- 40:20Like a rough week in the household it would.
- 40:23Be it would be, I would just be crying all the freaking all the
- 40:27time. And I'd be like, what's wrong?
- 40:28You'd be like, I can't tell you. And I'd be like, what did I do?
- 40:32And you'd be like nothing. And you'd be like, wow, take you
- 40:35to the hospital and I'd be like, good it is.
- 40:38Gracious, yeah. I mean, but like, I wouldn't
- 40:41want to know. It would be so sad.
- 40:43It would be so scary. It would be you were talking
- 40:48about getting to do the things you want to do even at a week
- 40:50you wouldn't because like, I'm sure if I knew, I mean, and if I
- 40:55didn't tell people right, then I maybe could possibly do those
- 40:57things, right? Like if you're like, oh, I want
- 40:59to go see a place I've never been to before.
- 41:01If I knew and only I knew, I could go do that.
- 41:03But then at the same time, I would be looking at all these
- 41:05people just living their life. I'm sure part of it I would
- 41:09probably have some jealousy too. Like none of these people know
- 41:12what's going to happen and they're all able to just be
- 41:16happy, right? Or be where I am not happy and
- 41:22I'm probably not even being right.
- 41:25Like there would be no, I don't think I would find any joy in
- 41:29knowing I just. Think that's awful?
- 41:32Selfish. Why?
- 41:34Because you're. Just taking away other people's
- 41:36opportunity to finish out their life in a way that suits them.
- 41:39You're just doing it in a way that suits you.
- 41:42I don't think that that's selfish.
- 41:43I'm saying that I, I would not want to put that burden on
- 41:48others either. I don't want to know and I
- 41:51wouldn't want that burden to be on others.
- 41:53So it's sort of an interesting. I don't want to know.
- 41:56That's my answer. Wow.
- 41:58And I don't think that that's selfish that I don't want to
- 42:00know either. I think that's just a why.
- 42:05Why? For the pain.
- 42:07All it would be is pain, you know, I mean like, 'cause but
- 42:11this, this rock we live on, although it has many, many
- 42:16flaws, is kind of a big deal for who we are, right?
- 42:20Like that would be super sad to know that everything that I know
- 42:24and exists is over in a week. I don't want to know.
- 42:28So Illuminati, when you have a supervation, don't tell me.
- 42:34I don't want to know. I don't want to know I.
- 42:36Mean that is, we are very much in disagreement on this topic.
- 42:43I know, I know and that's a fine with me.
- 42:46I just I don't think I could be happy.
- 42:48How could you be happy and enjoying what you when I just
- 42:54don't? I don't do that for me.
- 42:56That's tough because, you know, to your point, and of course
- 43:00we're discussing again after the argument, which is difficult,
- 43:02but it's I don't think happy is the word that I would be
- 43:07thinking I'm achieving. I think there would be a certain
- 43:11bittersweetness to it where you know, like, like, to your point,
- 43:17grief, like, you know, much like when someone passes on and you
- 43:23know, you have the loss and the pain.
- 43:27But but also at that time, you draw in close to the people that
- 43:34are in your life and you experience it together and you
- 43:38figure out how to hold each other up and how to be, you
- 43:43know, how to be genuinely true good souls together.
- 43:50I think that's what I'd be looking for.
- 43:51And that's why I said for me, it's about love.
- 43:53It's like, of course, of course there would be pain, but I'd
- 43:59want to do that with with my people.
- 44:02But you. Would know like you want to know
- 44:04so that you can do that I try I don't I wouldn't want to I think
- 44:10I live a good enough life today on a daily basis that I I don't
- 44:15think that I would that's. Fair.
- 44:16I mean, I, I think I do too. I just, I just don't want to go
- 44:19to work. I know.
- 44:20You don't want to. Work.
- 44:21That's the big like, because a lot of my life actually already
- 44:23lines up with much of what I said, right?
- 44:26And I. Have contact with others and I
- 44:28have good and genuine relationships that are fostered
- 44:31well but but I spend, you know, a decent chunk of my life
- 44:36working like most most. People do.
- 44:38Most people do. I just.
- 44:39Wouldn't want to do that. I would want that additional 50
- 44:43hours to be spent with people that I care about because I
- 44:48can't. And, you know, in any given week
- 44:50because of work, I can't like both have time with you and our
- 44:57kid and my friends and my family.
- 45:00There's not enough time to get it done.
- 45:03So I would just wanna have more time to do that.
- 45:06Yeah. But I.
- 45:07Mean also your friends might be like cool, I literally have the
- 45:10people I wanna spend time with Yeah right and that might be a.
- 45:14Different circle and that's. Not you, you know, like.
- 45:17Ouch, that that could be. Oh.
- 45:19I thought we were closer, that could be there could be people
- 45:22were like I have, we could have one.
- 45:24We could have one last great friends get together right?
- 45:28We could or not. They might not want.
- 45:30You wouldn't. Want to have it though?
- 45:31Because you don't. No, I don't.
- 45:32Want to know? Don't tell me, don't want to.
- 45:34Know like there's. Again, I don't think I'd live a
- 45:36bad enough life. Maybe you'd get.
- 45:37Lucky and we'd have a friends get together.
- 45:40Maybe. I mean, what does it matter?
- 45:41I can see my friends today every, you know, like, I don't
- 45:44really, I don't know. I don't see that the difference
- 45:47in what I would be doing then would be worth the grief I would
- 45:53be going through. Ignorance is bliss for me.
- 45:56That's where I'd want to be. And you know what, if I had to
- 46:00do the work that I have felt is important enough to have my
- 46:03career be in it for a day to be ignorant, fine, OK, fine.
- 46:10I'll show up. I'll clock in.
- 46:13So yeah, that's that's that's it.
- 46:16That's it. The big question is, would you
- 46:19want to know? That's a deep.
- 46:20One it. Is that might be.
- 46:22The deepest one we've done. I don't.
- 46:24Know I kind of feel like best cartoons ever the.
- 46:30Depth that reached? Really.
- 46:32Deep. Yeah, really deep.
- 46:35Yeah, I I think there are some that are maybe a little deeper
- 46:38than others. This is a big one.
- 46:39This is. Definitely up there.
- 46:41Well, I hope you guys enjoyed it, yes.
- 46:44Yes, we. Certainly did.
- 46:45That was a good, good and deep discussion that I probably could
- 46:48go on for another hour talking about all the variations.
- 46:51And, you know, maybe we will. Maybe, maybe we'll continue
- 46:56after the record. Yeah.
- 46:58We might, we might and. So how would they vote for the
- 47:01winner of this episode? Darling for the.
- 47:05Winner of this episode is done on the Spotify polls, Yes.
- 47:10However, like if there are things we haven't thought about,
- 47:13also comment on any of our social medias.
- 47:16Yeah, comment on the Spotify because we are like kind of a
- 47:19big deal in the Spotify comments.
- 47:21We're holding a high record and we'd love this, apparently.
- 47:27Just nobody comments on not our. Audience.
- 47:30Not our folks. Our folks are in it, but the
- 47:33other? Ones out there, nobody's engaged
- 47:35so. Again, This is why I would bring
- 47:37you listener. Yeah, you're the 4th, you're the
- 47:404th and the. Other question.
- 47:43So anyhow, vote for us there and then also like share us, yeah.
- 47:49Tell your friends. Listen.
- 47:51Share, vote. And then the other new thing is
- 47:55find us on WFNU Frogtown Radio Frogtown.
- 47:59Radio Fridays at midnight. Yeah, and on their app.
- 48:03On their app. Which is they?
- 48:04Stream it so you don't have to be in the broadcast range to
- 48:07find it. Yeah, and.
- 48:07You can listen to the other folks that are also on that
- 48:10show. There's some great ones.
- 48:11Like I said, we got to meet and and I.
- 48:14Just had a revelation, hence the surprise look on my face for you
- 48:19audio people. You didn't see me.
- 48:21I got so surprised. We have now recorded, though I
- 48:23don't know which order they're gonna air in.
- 48:25We have now recorded 26 episodes, which I've been
- 48:30talking about for like a month. That's 1/2 of a year.
- 48:34Yeah, yeah, that's quite a deal. I mean, look at.
- 48:37That. Wow, we are.
- 48:39I mean, I, I wasn't not in it for the long haul when we
- 48:43started this deal, but it's still fun to see a milestone
- 48:46come, no? That's a really big one too.
- 48:48The rest of them? Have been metric ones like the
- 48:51Spotify metrics say that you know 3 and 7 and 20 or whatever.
- 48:54For me like 26 is a big marker it.
- 48:57Is I mean, I, I didn't see us ending no.
- 49:01And now I really I don't see it setting for a long time.
- 49:04We have a whole new audience, people who haven't gotten to
- 49:06know how wonderful we are. How?
- 49:11Upset I can get sometimes. Don't talk to me about
- 49:14Christmas, No. Not about Christmas.
- 49:16Don't do it. No, there's a few.
- 49:17Things that are maybe blueberry doughnut esque, but the end of
- 49:22the world is not one of them. I think we we ended on a pretty
- 49:26reasonable note here, but thank you all for listening.
- 49:29Yes. Indeed, And we'll see you next
- 49:31time. Bye.
