- 0:00Biota Corp wants to thank everyone for hanging in there
- 0:03during the regen crisis. That's why for a limited time
- 0:06they are offering a free breast or penile enhancement package.
- 0:10Just use promo code open comms to get 4 free maxed out regions.
- 0:15Again, that's promo code. Open comms from Biota Corp.
- 0:50We are live with open cons. It's it's me cosmic hobo.
- 0:55You might be familiar with my voice by this point hopefully.
- 0:59And my Co host tonight is Lord Anubis.
- 1:02Why, thank you. Thank you.
- 1:03I'm glad to be here with you tonight.
- 1:06This is a very special night celebrating the arrest of Jar
- 1:10Jar, who who was, along with Duke, both incarcerated on
- 1:18charges of turtle smuggling. Absolute menaces.
- 1:22Yep, it's horrible. And it's good that they're
- 1:25packed away now. Well, as hopefully those
- 1:31listening know, this is Open Comms Radio, a Star Citizen call
- 1:34in show and what will be a crime podcast now following the
- 1:39misadventures of Jar Jar and Duke.
- 1:42So we will follow their trial all steps of the way from
- 1:47arraignments to sentencing cause and we all know they're guilty.
- 1:53And so if you want to comment on the trial, feel free to call in
- 1:59to our discord, to the open comms discord.
- 2:03Then you can join the if you sit in the watching room, you'll be
- 2:08watching. Or if you join on to the stage,
- 2:10we can drag you up if you raise your hand.
- 2:13And until someone does that, the two of us will be vamping as
- 2:17long as possible. But to set the stage, literally
- 2:22and figuratively, tonight's question Lord Anubis.
- 2:26Tonight's question is a is a very heady 1 and I need to bring
- 2:30it up on my screen. Here we go.
- 2:32OK, with 4.8 on the way and so many things changing the game on
- 2:39a level not seen in a long time, where do you go from here?
- 2:43Have you found yourself going in a different path or are you
- 2:45still trying to find it? Without context would be a very
- 2:50philosophical question and it still kind of is.
- 2:55So if you want to answer the philosophical side of it, we're
- 2:57we're fine with that too. I'm sure we will somehow dip
- 3:00into that at some point as well. But what?
- 3:06I'll ask you the question then, Anubis, where do we go from here
- 3:10and where do you think we should go from here?
- 3:13I absolutely do not know where I where I'm going from here.
- 3:17I, I really haven't had an opportunity to play the game in
- 3:21detail or at least on a, you know, concerted effort.
- 3:28I have minutes at a time. You just with how busy things
- 3:32have been. But when I get in there, yeah, I
- 3:35don't know what to do. And, and I guess that's a great
- 3:39thing because before there was only one or two things to do and
- 3:45just go bust some bunkers or something like that or, or do
- 3:48whatever priority mission was there.
- 3:49But now it's like, OK, wow, this is actually a world now.
- 3:52So you know I'm needing direction and maybe some can
- 3:57advise that later on. Great.
- 4:01Yeah, I it is a nice thing that now instead of just being
- 4:06dropped in, it's not a what can I do?
- 4:10It's a what do I do? Because there are options.
- 4:14Now. I remember there have been many
- 4:16times in the past where I've tried to join in like solo or
- 4:20something like that. And I truly ask myself, what can
- 4:25I even get done before something like breaks or my energy just
- 4:31disappears entirely to my, my motivation Just like vanishes
- 4:37'cause it's like, oh OK, I could go mining.
- 4:40And then I think about it like for what?
- 4:43But now it's I can go mining and look for high quality mats to
- 4:50make stuff. So that loop has a purpose.
- 4:53Yeah. Things like that.
- 4:56It it's there's actual directions to go, and you can
- 5:01still be entirely directionless if you want.
- 5:03If for whatever reason you just want to hop in a ship and fly
- 5:06out into the verse, there's places to go, there's places to
- 5:09see, there's planets and moons in Pyro that I'm sure most folks
- 5:15haven't even touched. Yeah.
- 5:19And it's not just about money anymore, which is I think the
- 5:22biggest part of all this is, is it is it is another way to, you
- 5:29know, kind of keep score for yourself.
- 5:32Oh yeah, it's and that's that is a goal and we've needed goals
- 5:38beyond the the the Rep grind or the UEC grind there there's
- 5:43actual goals now for us to do when that goal could be.
- 5:47It's still simplistic, admittedly, like the crafting
- 5:49system in its current state in this patch is pretty simplistic.
- 5:55It's you're, you're, you're going for 700 plus quality mats
- 6:02to make something a little better and that's it.
- 6:06Like there's, there's not much beyond that.
- 6:09That's and, and armor especially, it's kind of a
- 6:11problem in the sense that it doesn't do much.
- 6:14Like you could be grinding out 950 level mats for a set of
- 6:18armor and it does like 4 percent, 5% damage reduction and
- 6:25temperature improvement, temperature control improvement.
- 6:28So like great. I could be out in the hot in the
- 6:31heat, like for an extra 3 minutes or something cool,
- 6:38great. And those are going to have to
- 6:41evolve over time in order to make it worth it.
- 6:45Oh yeah, either by lowering NPC resilience, you know, and
- 6:49leaving things as is so, you know, as a player you're just
- 6:53super, or, you know, make that, make some of that armor
- 6:58extremely wild. Yeah, well, Speaking of wild
- 7:05that that that that segue doesn't work.
- 7:07We have a guest in in the lobby looking to come in and sit on
- 7:11the couch. I am going to bring them up if
- 7:14you'll introduce our friend also is blue interestingly.
- 7:23I am in fact blue both here and real life.
- 7:29Not blue like figuratively, like literally.
- 7:33I don't really know where I'm. Going Oh, you blue yourself.
- 7:34Actually blue. No, no, no blow, no, no bluing
- 7:40anything. Yeah, Hi.
- 7:45Hi Skeeter, welcome to. Open, yes.
- 7:49Today's question where do we go from here?
- 7:55Honestly, I feel like we're asking the wrong question.
- 7:57I feel like the question should be what?
- 8:01Wait, no, that's not. Is that the question?
- 8:03I thought the question was what? What do you OK, if the question
- 8:07is where do we go from here? I think the question really
- 8:10should be where can't we go? Because I'm.
- 8:14I don't know this, this the past couple of batches have made me
- 8:18super optimistic. There's a lot to do in the game
- 8:21right now. There's and if you look at the
- 8:23state of the game compared to like, you know, just a couple of
- 8:26years ago, I mean, the game is, you know, literally tripled in
- 8:31size. We have three star systems now
- 8:33and the the content has been just pouring out.
- 8:36And I don't mean just mediocre content.
- 8:39There's been some mediocre content that we've already
- 8:41talked about rehash all that. But you know, things like rock
- 8:46breaker, even C ZS, we've talked a lot about C ZS and I think a
- 8:51lot of these this content is, is game changing, specifically with
- 8:56crafting. I think, you know, we talked
- 8:58about crafting a few episodes ago before it was released and
- 9:01everyone was so Debbie downer and pessimistic about crafting,
- 9:06like, oh, it's not going to be game changing.
- 9:08I think it'll just be something to do.
- 9:11And I think in reality, we it's been super game changing.
- 9:16And to add to it, if I may even be more optimistic, freaking at
- 9:22the road map. I this is a hot take.
- 9:26So I honestly think we could be like we're less than three years
- 9:32out from one. Oh, I even I'll even go as far
- 9:36to say 2 years. I think we're it, we're like
- 9:39between the two to three-year mark.
- 9:43I would agree with you I. Think it's going to be another
- 9:46year? It'll be a little one more year
- 9:48or four years. No, just one more year, I think.
- 9:52You think we'll be at one O in one year?
- 9:54Yeah. Oh, all right.
- 9:55Well, you're more optimistic than I am.
- 9:57I'm proud of you. I.
- 9:58Could see it, but it would be, it'd be like a 0.95 I think.
- 10:06In reality, I, I think I, I, I think, yes, it'll have the title
- 10:10of one point O, but I just get the impression it's, it's going
- 10:14to be missing some things. It's just.
- 10:16So, so I don't want to catch up, but I think you're right or
- 10:20well, I fear that you're right. I don't, I'm hoping you're not
- 10:22right, but that is a concern. I my concern, I think is that
- 10:27maybe they're going to rush one O and that it's going to be like
- 10:31a soft opening and not like a real one O.
- 10:34Yeah, that's just the way that they came out with Nix has me
- 10:40concerned about that. Like, I know why they did Nix
- 10:44the way they did. And to be fair, they did do
- 10:48Stanton the same way. Stan did not have planets
- 10:51starting out and they did slowly introduce the the planetary
- 10:56bodies. But even that, even they were
- 11:00even, they weren't even bodies for the long time.
- 11:02You could see them from a distance, but you know, you
- 11:05couldn't land on them, couldn't, certainly couldn't get out of
- 11:08your ship and and walk around on them.
- 11:10I remember when they, the first, they introduced the first city
- 11:14area 18, and if you wanted to experience Area 18, you had to
- 11:17go to a separate instance. It was kind of like jumping into
- 11:20Arena commander. It was a completely separate
- 11:22environment. I remember that.
- 11:25The good old days, am I right? I remember because all I had was
- 11:28my little Aurora and I would get so frustrated because after one
- 11:34mission I'd run out of missiles because it only, I think it only
- 11:36helped had like 2 or maybe 4 missiles.
- 11:39And that was the only way I knew I had a dogfight.
- 11:40And then I was, and I would run around asking people how can I,
- 11:45you know, change my loadout? And at the time he couldn't.
- 11:48But you know, I was just a naive little guy.
- 11:51But I mean, we look back at that and you just look at the game
- 11:55now and how much has changed. Like way back then, there was so
- 11:59little to do. There was like 5 missions and
- 12:03but it was still amazing. Like it was mind blowing even
- 12:05back then. And you know, I think if, if I
- 12:07could have taken little Skeeter back then and shown him the game
- 12:11as it is today, he would probably have a stroke.
- 12:14He wouldn't be able to handle it.
- 12:18And yeah, I I'm really happy and, and so.
- 12:22But but you do see that. You see, the technology has been
- 12:24built, the the server meshing, the the AI has dramatically
- 12:31improved. Yeah, and it runs smoothly.
- 12:35We don't have, you know, 30 KS anymore.
- 12:39That's not true. Recently it they picked up
- 12:42again, but. It's still.
- 12:44Vastly better than. Yeah.
- 12:47Like a 30 Ki was. Old time was disastrous, like
- 12:50you were done like you might as. I was.
- 12:52Go to bed. I was sitting on a 990, I think
- 12:57it was 994 quality. What was it?
- 13:00I can't remember what it was. It was either still around or
- 13:03tungsten, I can't remember. And 30 Ki was so upset because
- 13:07I've been sitting there for a while waiting for someone to
- 13:09come help me break it and then it was gone.
- 13:11It was very sad. Yeah.
- 13:14And that that's that that certainly does suck.
- 13:17And I, and I think, you know, them tamping down these things,
- 13:21you know, and, and, and being able to fix them relatively
- 13:25quickly as, as they have with the past couple patches and, and
- 13:31just seeing how fast they're adding things.
- 13:33I think I think a year is a reasonable expectation to see
- 13:37like Castro released and base building in place.
- 13:40And I think that's kind of the final, the final piece to what
- 13:46we're looking for here. And then they could just add
- 13:47everything in in as DLC. Yeah, I always, I keep
- 13:52forgetting about base building and even as I was looking at the
- 13:56road map today, I was like, Oh yeah, base building.
- 13:59Oh yeah. Like players play stations.
- 14:02That's going to be amazing. I always forget about those
- 14:04things because I get so preoccupied and whatever the
- 14:07latest content is. Those are going to be the real
- 14:11investments that will keep people playing and be resourcing
- 14:15and be kind of the fun things we decorate and build out and brag
- 14:19about and waste time on. You know that reminds.
- 14:25Me sorry, just reminds me of a game.
- 14:30Oh, game was. Like, oh, if you say yes, if
- 14:32you. Remember it, let us know, but we
- 14:34have another guest who wants to speak.
- 14:37So just hold that thought and like think about it really,
- 14:41really like run it through the ringer there in your brain and
- 14:45what we'll come back to that, I'm sure.
- 14:47But Speaking of coming back to things, damn it, I'm just not
- 14:52doing great with these transitions.
- 14:55Our next guest wicket. Come on in, make room on the
- 15:01couch. #1 guilty. Long time listener, frequent
- 15:07slash, occasional caller. The question to this week is
- 15:16obviously very open-ended and, you know, could be interpreted
- 15:19in many different ways. Well, we are open comms.
- 15:22Luckily, yeah, it's not closed comms, yeah.
- 15:24These are open. Luckily we we like all opinions
- 15:30here. Mostly, that's not accurate.
- 15:33That no, there there's, there's, yeah, in particular opinion that
- 15:37someone in this room perpetuates that is factually incorrect.
- 15:44That timers. Well, I'll say this.
- 15:49Oh, that one. Sorry, that one.
- 15:53Yep, Yep, the the, the the future does look bright, and
- 15:57usually the future always does. But in this case, trouble is
- 16:06afoot, I think. And I'll get to that in a
- 16:09minute. But as far as answering the
- 16:11question, I think a fully and well-rounded game is what's in
- 16:20the future. Hopefully, you know, with the,
- 16:23the, the taste of crafting, we've gotten the gate to the
- 16:26taste of, of resource gathering. They've given us a little taste
- 16:31and, you know, it's it's it's been done well enough to where
- 16:37it gives you a reason to do things in game that are not just
- 16:41collecting dollars or, you know, fighting over meaningless stuff.
- 16:49Yeah, Now Speaking of. Taste dollars and meaningless
- 16:53stuff. That's a perfect Segway for our
- 16:56first ad. Oh, he was still in the middle
- 16:59of his thing. Damn it, but the the Segway was
- 17:02too good. The Segway.
- 17:03Go for it, go for it. I'll wait.
- 17:06Gosh, we got Linus here all right.
- 17:09Hey, since winter has ever timed well.
- 17:12I know, right? So yes, our first, our first
- 17:16advertiser has a little thing for me to read here and that's
- 17:19Big Benny Noodles. And they are announcing today
- 17:23that Big Benny is back after our shortage during the Regen
- 17:26crisis. We're now restocked with all of
- 17:29your favorite protein pack flavors.
- 17:31And to celebrate, we're partnering with Cruise Lux to
- 17:34bring you the all new Benny's Slam meal.
- 17:38That's our new Ossui and Chris Bowl with a 71 oz Lux for only
- 17:432000 a UEC. So get your bennies and give no
- 17:47fucks. You know, they have big Benny
- 17:51noodles that that almost said Twitchcon citizen Con.
- 17:55I mean, it's really good. Since we're talking about the
- 17:58future and directions, a great, a great announcement was made in
- 18:06the in the future. What?
- 18:11What? What's it called?
- 18:12Skeeter where you posted that picture?
- 18:14From the the IT was the road map, the road map.
- 18:17The road map one point O tentative gameplay Guild system.
- 18:25Unbelievable. I feel like a damn process.
- 18:28Hey, for for the I'll let you. In any way, In any way, and,
- 18:34and, and and all I can say is why our organization is actually
- 18:42a Guild, because it fits right in with the narrative of the
- 18:45story and the future of Star Citizen.
- 18:49We're so and. We're, we're, so we're, we're so
- 18:51eager to see it implemented and become part of this great Guild
- 18:55system, obviously. Like we may need to fill in our
- 19:00listeners who may not listen regularly.
- 19:03In any event, and if you if you're not a frequent listener,
- 19:06I've been talking guilds for many, many months now and
- 19:10everybody poo poos on it and now it's official.
- 19:13It's because you left to go to play dude, and you came back
- 19:16with blue eyes talking about I'm never going to play this game
- 19:20anymore, this broken game, whatever.
- 19:22I am totally in Dune now. And then you gave up Dune
- 19:25because it died. And then he came.
- 19:27Back and tell everybody it's a creepy impression.
- 19:29That impression was creepy good. OK, in in any event, in any
- 19:34event, the the, the thing that worries me recently is here we
- 19:39are, it's now almost the end of April.
- 19:43We've got, you know, about a week left in the month and as
- 19:50the game start of a Squadron 42 has been announced to be
- 19:54released in this year of 2026, you know, we've literally
- 20:00there's seven months left in the in the year, in a, in a, in a
- 20:05week or so, if you want to be precise about it.
- 20:10And we haven't heard one and we haven't heard one single thing
- 20:15as far as. Release cadence, we haven't seen
- 20:20any new trailers, we haven't seen any hype being generated
- 20:23from the company about about Squadron 42.
- 20:27No one's talking about it except, you know, in passing
- 20:30kind of we keep getting told that oh, it's feature complete
- 20:34and they're just polishing. But you know, if that's the
- 20:37case, they should be at least starting to generate that hype
- 20:41and starting to talk about release dates and getting the
- 20:47non pledge potential player base, the people that have
- 20:51already pledged for it. But the people that are actually
- 20:53going to buy this game starting to get invested in it.
- 20:58Now. We've had trailers that have
- 20:59been bandied around for years from different citizen cons and
- 21:03different, you know, different, different content that starts or
- 21:07that CIG has released. But the worrying part about this
- 21:11is that in in modern day game release cycles, you don't wait
- 21:17till the last minute to start talking about your game.
- 21:20And this worries me because if they're not talking about it,
- 21:24that that points to, for me it points to the fact that they're
- 21:28not confident they can do it. They can't.
- 21:30They're not confident they'll be able.
- 21:31To they building up the suspense.
- 21:33Well, well, let's look at pretty.
- 21:35Dumb thing to do. Let's let's look at the at at
- 21:39the rhinoceros to the elephant in the room, GTA6.
- 21:44There's the. Ads.
- 21:45Where's the where's the, the constant that, you know, news
- 21:50press from Rockstar? They're not.
- 21:51Doing it either in April. Fool.
- 21:53Well that that that you're comparing apples and oranges
- 21:56there. Because Rockstar and GTA have a
- 21:59long release history and multiple decades of games that
- 22:04have been out there. This is the GTA 6 is just the
- 22:08next version of it, but and it's been hyped up and talked about
- 22:12it almost needs no hyper talk from from from Rockstar because
- 22:17everybody else is doing it for them, whereas.
- 22:20When you have a big game like that, you don't.
- 22:22You don't sit there and not. Advertise and they've they've
- 22:24advertised, they've had their little releases, they've had
- 22:26their little Nuggets. Hell, part of me thinks some of
- 22:30these like I, I maybe I'm being conspiratorial, but like, you
- 22:39know, how this, the, the, they've had these quote UN quote
- 22:44hacks and then contents been released.
- 22:48A part of me wants to think that that's been done on purpose.
- 22:53Oh, no, no, no. They are probably one of the
- 22:56most attacked companies, you know, when, when it comes to
- 23:02gaming. I mean, everybody's trying to
- 23:03hack them to find out what's going on.
- 23:05Well, I don't, I don't know, maybe they let a little bit of
- 23:07info slip here and there just, you know, and, and, and get, get
- 23:11this massive boost of, of, of, of, of attention share with
- 23:18little to no investment. But in any event that that's not
- 23:21new here or there. I don't think you can compare
- 23:23the two things. Star Citizen Squadron 42 has
- 23:26never been released, never has had any kind of anything,
- 23:30whereas you've got at least 20 plus years of GTA.
- 23:34That's apples and oranges. You can't, you know, the only
- 23:37thing you can compare is gamer mindshare when the when those
- 23:41titles get released, because they're, I don't know if there's
- 23:44going to how much of A crossover there will be.
- 23:45There will be some, but the, the, the audience for GTA is way
- 23:51larger, way more diverse than Star Citizen.
- 23:53Whatever you know, and its wildest, wettest dream could
- 23:57have. I think, you know, I think if,
- 24:02if, if they do a release and Star Citizen sells a million
- 24:06titles, I think that'll be a massive success.
- 24:08I think it would. If they sell 500,000 it would be
- 24:11a massive success. I mean, they've already made a
- 24:14billion. Well, yeah, but they've spent a
- 24:17billion. They've spent a billion.
- 24:21They've spent a billion. They, I mean, their operating
- 24:24budget has been a billion, you know.
- 24:26To run well, they've spent a billion dollars and so far, so
- 24:32far all we have is this very buggy game to show for it, which
- 24:37I mean, we have a lot of fun in it.
- 24:38And we have, we, we, we, you know, we spend a lot of time in
- 24:42it and, you know, we've had our fun from it, but it's kind of a
- 24:47buggy mess. Let's be let's be honest.
- 24:49I mean to defend the game here. Most games are a buggy mess and
- 24:53most. Games, big titles nowadays when
- 24:55they come out. Yeah, and most games don't have
- 24:58all their content either, or all their features when they come
- 25:01out. Yeah.
- 25:02But that's that's that's that's only been a recent phenomenon of
- 25:05like the last five or so years where these.
- 25:08AAA's been more than that. These.
- 25:10AAA titles, they come out with this garbage and they sell a
- 25:15bunch of a bunch of copies, but everybody is just pissed off at
- 25:19it and nobody cares for it. Every, you know, it dies on the
- 25:22vine within a couple of months. Nobody's constantly playing
- 25:27these games. The, the, the, the thing in, in,
- 25:32in. If you look at some of these
- 25:33other titles, these small indie games, they have next to no
- 25:37budget when you're compared to and they're beloved and they're
- 25:41caught in the numbers of play of consistent players and people
- 25:45playing the updates for those games.
- 25:47It's tremendous for what's been put into them and they're and
- 25:51they're complete. They're feature complete and
- 25:53they're like one or two guys building the game and putting it
- 25:56out there. It's fun for a lot of people.
- 25:59People enjoy it. They updated, you know, that's
- 26:03how gaming used to be. This thing from these AAA
- 26:07companies that bring out all the slop, basically, and unfinished
- 26:14games. That's a recent phenomenon.
- 26:18It used to not be like that. Ubisoft used to not put out
- 26:21crap, EA used to not put out crap.
- 26:24They used to bring bring out quality game titles.
- 26:27But then of course they got on this bandwagon.
- 26:30Software as a service, gaming as a service.
- 26:32They want to constantly squeeze more money out of you,
- 26:36constantly pull more fund funding for literal garbage,
- 26:41rehashing the same themes over and over and over again and
- 26:46trying to get basically paid to play the same game again and
- 26:50again and again. That's a recent phenomenon, and
- 26:53I hopefully. They don't think that's recent
- 26:55at all. Look at Call of Duty.
- 26:57Like even getting Call of Duty's for a long time, yeah.
- 27:01But Call of Duty, Call of Duty's a finished game.
- 27:05Call of Duty is like one of the most played games in the world.
- 27:09It has its IT has its audience, people.
- 27:12Would like that. Kind of content, love it and
- 27:14they play it. The repetitive nature though of
- 27:17releases is not new, doing sequel after sequel and
- 27:21sometimes being. Yeah, but Call of Duty, Call,
- 27:25that's a whole thing. That's a, that's a genre thing,
- 27:28all right. But what I'm talking about is,
- 27:30is like the all these recent Assassin Creed games and the
- 27:34garbage, they're literal garbage.
- 27:39So to back up a little bit about the advertising push that we've
- 27:42not seen from CIG about Squad in 42, I would say we need to watch
- 27:48what they do this weekend at the first convention that they're
- 27:52going to. So they're going to a bunch of
- 27:55different conventions this year, which is interesting 'cause they
- 27:58didn't use, they did used to do that like a decade ago, but then
- 28:03they stopped and only really went to a handful of different
- 28:07things. But now this year they're doing
- 28:09the convention circuit, the concert.
- 28:13So if we get a new AI we'll get to Citizen Con or we won't
- 28:22because they haven't said anything about it yet?
- 28:26Because they're waiting. They're waiting.
- 28:27They're they're trying to marry up the Squadron 42 release and
- 28:32ads and hype videos to their Citizen Con announcement.
- 28:36And that they're not and that they haven't announced anything
- 28:39for Citizen Con. They've never waited this late
- 28:41in the in the calendar year to announce Citizen Con for that
- 28:44year. We said the same thing last
- 28:46year. And well, and now they've broken
- 28:49that, they've broken that record again.
- 28:51And it's obvious to me anyway that just like Skeeter saying
- 28:56Squadron 42 Citizen Con marketing for all that stuff is
- 29:01all like hand in glove. And I think the reason they're
- 29:04either not have announced it yet is they have a really precise
- 29:09structured marketing campaign that's going to start any day
- 29:12now, you know, which I doubt, but.
- 29:17I. Think the reason is, is that
- 29:19they're not confident they can deliver on anything that they
- 29:22because in order to market something you have to give
- 29:25people an idea of when it's going to be, if it's going to be
- 29:28OK. They said it's going to be out
- 29:30in 2026. Well, they've got what 150 some
- 29:35odd days left and if they're not confident in saying that they
- 29:41can make it before the end of the year and they can't put a
- 29:43put a pin in it and you know, save the date kind of deal.
- 29:47I think that's what's holding them back because they're not
- 29:49confident. They're they're either not
- 29:51confident in the in the product that they would be able to bring
- 29:54out at that time or something is holding it back.
- 29:58What if? Sorry, go ahead hobo.
- 30:01I think the date. We need to.
- 30:03Watch is Invictus. If we hear absolutely nothing by
- 30:08Invictus, I will agree with Wicked, but I strongly think
- 30:13they're holding off for both starting the con circuit and
- 30:19Invictus. I think we're going to see an
- 30:20announcement in Invictus. What it is, it might be a
- 30:23release date and maybe they started the campaign.
- 30:26I don't know, but I think we need to wait until Invictus to
- 30:29see at least for Squadron 40. I do not know about a citizen
- 30:32con. I'm I'm not sure what they're
- 30:34doing there. I've heard different theories,
- 30:36like it's going to be an insider thing and they'll be like invite
- 30:39only and a big squadron con. I don't know.
- 30:44I've heard different things, but I do think Invictus is going to
- 30:47be kind of the big, big point. No.
- 30:51What do you say? Convention circuit which?
- 30:55Which conventions are they doing?
- 30:57Oh. Lord, I'd have to pull that up.
- 31:01But why? He's heading that up.
- 31:03I will. They're doing say this.
- 31:04I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm real.
- 31:06I'm wrong. Yeah, But you know.
- 31:08My. Theory, all points all all all
- 31:12science point to know that I'm I'm I'm right and or, or you
- 31:16have some right, I don't know what, whatever go on.
- 31:18Skeeter. Skeeter, what's your theory?
- 31:21My theory is we are way closer to 1 O than we think, and
- 31:26they're trying to time it to release quadrant 42 and one O at
- 31:29the same time. But one O is holding them up.
- 31:32They're trying to get one O to the point where they can
- 31:34announce and release them at the same time, one O by the end of
- 31:39the year. You know, I thought I was being
- 31:40optimistic when I said two to three years.
- 31:43What if one O is a December Christmas drop?
- 31:48Nope. This year?
- 31:51This year, no. And.
- 31:54Come on, they were working on We're still.
- 31:58Missing Castra and Terra like. We need to sandbag.
- 32:02It we're still missing my shoe wipers and sun shades and a
- 32:07working train. All right.
- 32:10I'm trying to answer your question, Manuvis.
- 32:15The first one they're going to this weekend, starting Friday,
- 32:19is Level Up Expo. OK.
- 32:24And have they announced who that is?
- 32:27Who's going? It's a big convention, so I
- 32:33don't know who all they're sending, no.
- 32:35If it's not Sandy and Chris and and maybe Jared, it's probably
- 32:39he's not going to be any kind of major announcement.
- 32:42Oh I don't really expect a major announcement.
- 32:45I expect them more to just have a teaser or something.
- 32:50Yeah, I mean, if they're going to be doing, I mean, I'm not
- 32:52sure if they're going to be doing San Diego Comic Con, but
- 32:55if they are, that's where they would do a huge announcement.
- 32:59That's the place you do those. I'm scrolling back to see if I
- 33:05can remember when they announced where they were going this year.
- 33:11Well, I mean, I, I, I, I'm, I'm hopeful for the best, but I'm
- 33:16doubtful that I'm, I'm getting more and more doubtful and more
- 33:20and more pessimistic about a squadron 42 releasing.
- 33:23And I think Squadron 42 is still sucking the air out of the Star
- 33:27Citizen dream of our M, our beloved MMO to get where it
- 33:31needs to be. Because I think they're still
- 33:34putting way too many assets into 40.
- 33:37They're, they're having to put so many assets in the 42 to, to
- 33:41try to get it out the door. And those folks that are being
- 33:46pulled off of the, of the, of the MMO project to finish the
- 33:52single player game is I think what's keeping keeping us from
- 33:59getting a way better and more polished product than, than what
- 34:02we've had. Because for me, the Telltale
- 34:07always is, is that we keep getting a bunch of broke every
- 34:12time something new comes, it seems like the same old stuff
- 34:15breaks over and over and over again.
- 34:18And you know, we've been, we've been pulled along for months and
- 34:23months to we're getting this, we're getting that.
- 34:25And it just seems like for everything new that comes,
- 34:29something old breaks again. And, and their excuse is always,
- 34:34whoa, that's an old system that wasn't designed for where we're
- 34:37at now. And we have to, it's like, well,
- 34:39what's keeping you? Well, I think what's keeping you
- 34:41is Squadron 42. I mean they they have an ample
- 34:45amount of staff for all that though.
- 34:48Do they? I have a list of all the places
- 34:50they're going this year. Ollie.
- 34:53All of the conventions level up on this weekend, then skipping
- 35:00over all of the bar citizens. Twitchcon in the Netherlands,
- 35:04May 30th. Oh, the big Twitchcon in the
- 35:07Netherlands. Big one, then Gamescon.
- 35:12Which they do around then. Yeah.
- 35:21It's all bots. In August then which one W games
- 35:27com in Cologne, Germany, August 26th, the 30th.
- 35:31That's a big one. Pax W also.
- 35:35A big one. So 6th.
- 35:37That's pretty late though, like once we get past the summer
- 35:41we're getting and then Twitch con San Diego and November.
- 35:48So that's. A pretty big 1-2 twitch cons
- 35:51What? Yeah.
- 35:52Where do where do they fit Star Citizen in between all that?
- 35:56The Citizen Con. Oh, that's usually a November
- 36:02and. October.
- 36:05October. It's October, but they don't
- 36:07have any. Well, they can easily.
- 36:11Or anything in October. They can easily hitch off of LA
- 36:15Comic Con if they wanted to and just kind of, you know, kind of
- 36:19add themselves to that. It wouldn't be the first
- 36:21convention to do that. Yeah.
- 36:24I don't think there's going to be a in person citizen con again
- 36:26this year. I think it's going to be digital
- 36:28and it's probably hopefully going to be them announcing
- 36:34Squadron 42 finally can see that.
- 36:38And I think that's why they're not not so worried about
- 36:43providing a date because there's nothing going to be to go.
- 36:46You're not going to go to anything.
- 36:47You're just going to sit in the privacy of your own home and cry
- 36:51in your pillow or something, I don't know.
- 36:53We'll be in a bar, Citizen. Well, I mean I, I.
- 36:56Would go there. Another live stream here in the
- 36:58DC area if we if it was at a reasonable hour.
- 37:03Yeah, but it what it what if? What if there's no announcement
- 37:06until it's too late, when nobody can make plans and.
- 37:09I think they will announce some I I, I.
- 37:12I don't think they'll just shadow drop a citizen con.
- 37:18Well, I don't think so either, but I don't know this.
- 37:22I think we'll have some heads up for something like October is
- 37:27free. They're not going to any bar
- 37:28citizens. They're not going to any
- 37:30conventions. The N1 is interesting because
- 37:33that's fairly early November or mid November.
- 37:40That's Twitch con, right? That's the second Twitch con.
- 37:43Yeah, that's the North America. That's the big Twitch con.
- 37:48Yeah. Which, if you know, who knows,
- 37:50Twitch might even be around then.
- 37:55I had something to say. I forgot what it was.
- 37:57I was talking about what Wicked said.
- 38:03Oh yeah, so talk about resources and I get upset that there's
- 38:06been too much effort into Squadron 42.
- 38:09So I think the real question is how much money do they expect?
- 38:14Like once they go to one O mean, do we really expect a lot more
- 38:20people to buy the game then who who's already bought and playing
- 38:24it now? Like so it because if you think
- 38:26about it scoring 42 only the only no one's played it and the
- 38:31only people that have it are the ones that pre-ordered it.
- 38:33I don't think you can pre-order anymore.
- 38:35And so I expect there's going to be a huge, what's the word, like
- 38:42a uptick in or, you know, it's going to be a huge sale.
- 38:45I think especially for the people who placed our Citizen
- 38:47that don't have Squadron 42, I think they're expecting a lot of
- 38:50sales in Squadron 42 and they're not expecting a lot of
- 38:54additional sales in Star Citizen after one O, which would explain
- 38:58why they're putting so much effort and a Squadron 42.
- 39:01Again, it's just a theory. Yeah, so that's a good question
- 39:04and I'll go around the the couch.
- 39:06Will we get more players from Squadron 42's release or from
- 39:10one Point O's release? Anubis?
- 39:15One point O's release, honestly. Really.
- 39:18OK, I don't see, I don't see Squadron 42 being this, you
- 39:25know, thing that changes the world or anything like that,
- 39:28because Star Citizen, the MMO is, and it's a game that you'll
- 39:33play for years. Well, you'll play Squadron 42
- 39:37for about, you know, about a month or so.
- 39:41If that, if that all right, Skeeter.
- 39:46Well, so me personally, I don't, so I don't know.
- 39:51I'm Squadron 42 now. I only have Star Citizen.
- 39:54I would buy Squadron 42 if only for the lore.
- 39:58So I know very little about actual Star Citizen lore other
- 40:01than what we've seen in the game.
- 40:03I know they published stuff, but you know, I don't read that
- 40:05stuff. Everything changes, so I don't
- 40:07get invested. But I think that's one of the
- 40:10good things about campaign games is the lore.
- 40:13And I would buy Squadron 42 just for that single purpose.
- 40:18And also just because it's related to Star Citizen and I
- 40:21think it'd be cool and I expect there's a lot of people in my
- 40:26boat who don't own Squadron 42, but play a lot of Star Citizen
- 40:30and would buy Squadron 42 just because it's the natural
- 40:33progression from what they're doing now.
- 40:37And it's more of an in, you know, it's a final product.
- 40:42So I expect there will be a, a pretty big, that'll be a pretty
- 40:48big source of revenue. I don't expect.
- 40:51So when I you're asking about like if we expect people to buy
- 40:54after one. Oh, I look at I think Rust is a
- 40:56really good example. I'm sure I know some of you have
- 40:58played Rust, but you know, Rust was in beta for a very long
- 41:02time, but kind of like Star Citizen.
- 41:04It wasn't as buggy as Star Citizen, but they were always
- 41:06adding new content. And eventually they did release
- 41:10a final quote UN quote final, but it was just like a line in
- 41:13the sand. Nothing really changed.
- 41:15They were still adding new content and I don't think there
- 41:19were that many more people who bought Rust just because now it
- 41:22was a quote UN quote final. I expect we might see something
- 41:27similar. And I think Sig knows this,
- 41:31which is why they're kind of dragging some things out and
- 41:35trying to milk it with new ships because, you know, there's so
- 41:39many ships that still haven't been released, but they're still
- 41:43introducing new contact, new concepts to sell more stuff.
- 41:48So I don't know. That's my that's my theory.
- 41:51Yeah. All right, Wicket.
- 41:54Well, I think Squadron 42 is going to be a significant
- 42:01milestone for CIG. And what what how many titles it
- 42:06sells. Let's compare it to its most
- 42:10relevant counterpart, recent counterpart.
- 42:15That's going to be Starfield. All right now, Starfield does
- 42:19not have the fidelity, does not have the technical depth and
- 42:23does not have the the the overall immersiveness that
- 42:28Squadron 42 will have. But as of if I'm looking at this
- 42:34correctly, as of 2024, there were over 15,000,000 players of
- 42:43that game total, all platforms combined.
- 42:49Now that game sucked. I didn't play it, but from what
- 42:54I saw of it, it was terrible. I mean it I'm I guess for and
- 43:00and when I need to qualify that it sucked based on the price
- 43:03that you paid and what you got, I guess some people might have
- 43:07saw that as OK, it's fine. It it was a fine enough game.
- 43:12But when you're a Star Citizen and you know the fidelity and
- 43:16the depth that a game can truly have, that's a space sci-fi
- 43:20game, then Starfield is like lesser than anything that you
- 43:29already know. And we're only playing an alpha
- 43:31that's years away from completion and it's a buggy
- 43:34mess, but we still would prefer to play that over this.
- 43:37So having said that, keep in mind all the money that CIG has
- 43:42made so far has been basically for the development of Star
- 43:46Citizen slash Squadron 42. It's not designed to make a
- 43:50profit, it's designed to make a game.
- 43:53So at some point they want to have a product that they can
- 43:57sell to make money with. You know that.
- 44:01And and unless it's, you know, Chris Roberts dream that all I
- 44:07care about is the art and fulfilling my destiny of making
- 44:11this awesome game and he doesn't care if it makes money or not.
- 44:14That could be one way they could go, which I very much doubt
- 44:18because of the game. Besides US backers, that does
- 44:20have investors, so they wanna. You can sell, you say.
- 44:26Yes. That sounds like a wonderful
- 44:28transition to an ad read. Yes, and today, you know, we
- 44:34have very interesting 1 and I think everybody in the room is
- 44:37gonna be pretty excited about this one.
- 44:40We know that all of you could use it.
- 44:43Not me of course, because why would I?
- 44:46So today Biota Corp wants to thank everyone for hanging in
- 44:51there during the regen crisis. That's why for a limited time
- 44:54they are offering a free breast or penile enhancement package.
- 44:58Just use promo code open comms to get 4 free maxed out regions.
- 45:02Again, that's promo code. Open comms from Biota Corp.
- 45:08One time any other sponsors? Hey.
- 45:14They're scratching the battle with the barrel.
- 45:16Where's where's your agreed Sir are.
- 45:20You out there Wheeling and dealing and making us, making us
- 45:23I'm. Just a caller.
- 45:25Connections. Listen, we're just content,
- 45:29Skeeter. We're we're not important.
- 45:32I'm not charging for the AI, it's listening.
- 45:36M Dash. To get back to what I was
- 45:40saying, I think I think Squadron 42 sales to the open general
- 45:46public that are not backers or maybe are backers that have not
- 45:50purchased a license to play the game is going to be
- 45:54significantly important. And I think if it's done well
- 45:57and if it's received well, I think it will do nothing but
- 46:01drive people to want more in this open world MMO.
- 46:09Everybody had that plays this game thinks it's going to be a
- 46:12game changer, pun intended, as far as the MMO is concerned at
- 46:18some point in the future. And game changer.
- 46:23Hopefully, Squadron 42 will be nothing.
- 46:27You know if it it'll be an awesome experience unto itself,
- 46:31but it will also be the gateway drug to bring folks and new
- 46:35blood, new eyes, new attention to Squadron or to Star Citizen,
- 46:40the MMO. That's a that's a good point.
- 46:43I didn't think about that. You know, Speaking of the
- 46:48gateway drug and I and I know we've all kind of kind of been
- 46:51there. We are getting an update from
- 46:53the courthouse or or from the New Babbage County court right
- 46:59now about the charges that have been filed against Jar Jar.
- 47:04Folks even went for this news all day.
- 47:05Yeah. Yeah, in fact.
- 47:07So the New Babbage D as office has officially filed charges
- 47:10after a heated grand jury determination.
- 47:14So far, Jar Jar is facing 14 counts of turtle smuggling, 2
- 47:18counts felony evading, 1 count of resisting of arrest with with
- 47:23violence, one possession of slam with intent to distribute.
- 47:28And Duke Leto is is also is also facing 14 counts of turtle
- 47:34smuggling. You know he he, he had joined
- 47:38Jar Jar in this. Endeavour.
- 47:40Are we talking about literal turtles?
- 47:42Actual turtles that you know, they are highly illegal in the
- 47:45UAE, but they have been like all, literally all the UAE.
- 47:50You cannot have a turtle in the UAE and I think you know.
- 47:53Why or no turtles? You know, you you, you're not
- 47:58taking this seriously, are you? I'm just trying to understand.
- 48:03Turtles are highly illegal. Yeah, all right, turtles are
- 48:06bad, I get. It well, we'll check in on that
- 48:07case in a bit. We have another guest.
- 48:11So I'm going to bring up our next guest, if they'll there we.
- 48:18Go there you. Go sorry about that.
- 48:24So I just wanted to follow up actually on what Wicked was
- 48:27saying about saleable products. I don't think the game is the
- 48:32main saleable product that they're working on.
- 48:34I really honestly think star engine is what's driving a lot
- 48:37of it. If they can sell that, I'm, I'm
- 48:40sure they look at how much they spent on on licensing out cry
- 48:44engine way back in the day and said, Hey, wait, that's a good
- 48:47situation to be in. Why aren't we, Why don't we have
- 48:50an engine we can license out And once they've got that all fixed
- 48:54up, they can sell that. If people see that it works,
- 48:58Mmos are going to base their systems off of that for years to
- 49:02come. What is the star engine based
- 49:05on? Cry engine?
- 49:06Isn't it just like a fork in the road?
- 49:09Kind of like a Linux fork. I, I think it's, if I'm
- 49:14recalling correctly, it's different enough that they can
- 49:15license it out because they have new technologies shoved in there
- 49:20that other people are going to be able to use.
- 49:21I think the the main product, the game will will be fine if it
- 49:24pays for itself. That's awesome.
- 49:27I honestly think what they're do, what they're building is
- 49:31games, technology, back end, back end engine that they're
- 49:34going to try and license out. For a while.
- 49:37We needed to introduce the guest.
- 49:39Oh shit. Well, why?
- 49:44Don't you try. Yourself then.
- 49:47Hi, my name is Veritable Hatter or the Veritable Goose.
- 49:50I am obviously a wildly opinionated listener.
- 49:54Thank you. Hello.
- 49:56Well, let's also ask you the question, where do you think
- 49:59we're going to go from here? Or where should we go from here?
- 50:02Or where do you go from here? Go from.
- 50:06Here man I am so bad at this game I don't know where I go
- 50:09from here. I would love to build things but
- 50:12we'll see if that ever happens because I keep dying every time
- 50:15I try and get more blueprints. Fair enough, fair enough.
- 50:19Oh good. I I see the game becoming a much
- 50:24more socially oriented game once they implement social tools.
- 50:28I think it's going to be oh. My God we need better social.
- 50:31Tools like Guild tools. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 50:41affiliation with any sort of. I think they're going to have
- 50:45Guild master ranks and stuff like that.
- 50:49That'll probably be a real good thing to implement.
- 50:51I think crying could support that too.
- 50:54No, they've, they've got them. Bounty Hunters Guild.
- 50:56Do you want to become Guild master?
- 50:57The Bounty Hunters Guild. I already AM.
- 50:59Go for it a plus. Actually now do you level a
- 51:04bounty hunter on on Corelia? Is that the better place or do
- 51:09you do it on feed near the PvP battleground?
- 51:14That's going to be the question. It's not galaxies again.
- 51:19That's a galaxy's reference of. This, Oh, that game, yeah.
- 51:24You're just. Thinking about that.
- 51:26Or Holly market just racked up a couple of $1000.
- 51:31Yeah, everyone who bet like $0.10 on us mentioning Star Wars
- 51:34Galaxies. Yeah, and of course, and of
- 51:36course, you know, it's I, I feel in good company 'cause I, I
- 51:42always mentioned dead games. This guy's constantly mentioning
- 51:45dead games. Star Wars Galaxy.
- 51:50So how long have your have the games that you've personally
- 51:53killed? Yeah, like I.
- 51:55Don't like how long have they lasted?
- 51:56Star Wars Galaxies. Well.
- 51:59Yeah, that's medley killed Star Wars Galaxies and I hope.
- 52:03EVE Online still going. World of Warcraft still going.
- 52:07I. Didn't.
- 52:08Ask about those. I asked about the ones you
- 52:10personally killed. I didn't kill anything.
- 52:13Ashes, the creation self ended itself.
- 52:16Really. Where's Dune?
- 52:19Dune. It's in the total.
- 52:20Well, it's dead to me, but it's still going.
- 52:23Still do you were. So excited about Dune.
- 52:26I was, I was. And listen, that game was
- 52:30glorious for like a month or two and maybe a little more, but
- 52:34one. Time and then it's done.
- 52:36Once I finish the all the the the achievements like all the
- 52:44the steam achievements, I was like OK, I've done everything I
- 52:47can do in this game. I don't care if new content
- 52:49comes, I'm done. That game to me.
- 52:52Cool. So how long did they last
- 52:54compared to, you know, a truly revolutionary game that was
- 52:59killed by an executive at Sony? But damn, so you admit it's
- 53:03dead? Thank you.
- 53:05Let's move on. Intentionally.
- 53:06It was murdered. But then it is, and you admit
- 53:10that. Thank you.
- 53:11Let's move on. How long did yours last?
- 53:14Mine's still going. It's, I told you it's that's
- 53:16that to me. Dune is still going.
- 53:19Ah, we have another guest in the audience if you wish to come on
- 53:22to the Bantam. Burger.
- 53:24Great get you can't introduce. You ruined it.
- 53:28Till they come in and you don't know if they're even going to
- 53:31come in. They might just sit there and
- 53:33listen. They may just want to observe.
- 53:34Handsome raise your hand. Click on the little hand the.
- 53:37Little. Hand.
- 53:38Give yourself he's got his hand up.
- 53:41His hand is up. I'm.
- 53:43He's going to go be up. Give him a handy no do.
- 53:46Not call it a handy. Do not call it a handy.
- 53:49We've had we've had the talk before guys come.
- 53:52On Yes, let's welcome our new guest.
- 53:59First time caller. Hello.
- 54:02Hello Phantom, first time caller.
- 54:04Welcome to open Cons Radio. The well, OK, the one of like 2
- 54:10Star Citizen Collins. Shows that occur.
- 54:12On Wednesday. There's a second one.
- 54:16I I I think there is. Apparently terrible.
- 54:19It's probably terrible. This. 1 is a problem.
- 54:22The. Race to the bottom on Wednesday.
- 54:26Maybe we could let? Phantom steal all our thoughts
- 54:29anyway. Phantom Hi welcome.
- 54:32Where do you go from here as? Philosophical as the question is
- 54:38that is, I'll keep it to Star Citizen in this case, that's
- 54:41fine. So as somebody who pledged, I
- 54:46think my first pledge was back in like 2019 or 2020 or 22.
- 54:50Sorry, 2021-2022 couldn't handle the game at the time because it
- 54:55felt more like a very elaborate tech demo that a game.
- 54:59And then coming back in beginning of this month, it's
- 55:02come a long way and it gives me a lot of hope for Squadron 42
- 55:06and 1.0. I know I heard you all talking
- 55:09about like the budget and how they've got almost a billion
- 55:14dollar budget up until this point.
- 55:15That's just covering their bases.
- 55:18I did want to mention that GTA 6 is at, I think $2.2 billion for
- 55:22their budget for GTA 6, and that's a significantly larger
- 55:29company. So I think that it's interesting
- 55:32that CIG is making a game of this scale, two games
- 55:37realistically of this scale with the team that they have and the
- 55:41funding that they've gotten, especially considering that they
- 55:44have more or less aside from Cry engine, built up a engine of
- 55:49their own and built systems in like Star Starcotech, I think it
- 55:53is. That's star to anything, and
- 55:56you'll be right. OK, that sounds.
- 55:57Great star food I'm sure will be a thing star star cloth is an
- 56:02actual thing star just just yeah it's star to it our.
- 56:07Toilet. Can't wait for my gamer Subs CIG
- 56:12limited edition ramen. Start ramen.
- 56:16Yep, and Etsy. Yeah, that you can get that at
- 56:19Big Benny's the the the protein packed noodles that everybody
- 56:24loves. Get them today at your at your
- 56:27local rest and relax. I'm.
- 56:30Trying to watch my blood pressure.
- 56:33Smart, but we're. Closed.
- 56:35Like when you die, your blood pressure resets.
- 56:39Until perma death. Until perma death and then
- 56:42somehow your blood pressure is reprinted with you your the
- 56:46cholesterol which. Is like consequences.
- 56:48Reads you on death and goes ah, their cholesterol was super
- 56:51high. Let's.
- 56:52Reprint with the high. Cholesterol.
- 56:54But you lose your Rep and stuff. I'm.
- 56:58Glad 200 years in the future the healthcare system is the same.
- 57:01Uh huh. That and you've got a it's
- 57:03extra. It's an add on charge to
- 57:05decrease your cholesterol on reprint.
- 57:08So so so so if your Rep. Is like.
- 57:11Either positive or negative and they implement death of a
- 57:14spaceman. So when you permanently die they
- 57:19could send you to two end game areas, either heaven or hell and
- 57:24then that's where your character exists from then on.
- 57:27What do you think? I'm I'm pretty sure hell is the
- 57:2930K. Yeah, it's just, it's.
- 57:31Just buggy. It's a.
- 57:33It's a loading screen. It's just a.
- 57:34Blind loading screen. It's an infinite loading screen
- 57:36that you can't alt F4 out of. Or or is that purgatory just?
- 57:41You. Did just a little cluster, yeah.
- 57:45You will spend all of eternity mining high quality materials
- 57:48and then put 30K right as you are about to refine them.
- 57:51Yes, Yeah, that sounds right. So I asked.
- 57:55The oxygen because the machine doesn't work.
- 57:57And you just joined us. So Phantom, what do you think
- 58:01will bring in more players? Squadron 42 or One Point O.
- 58:08That one's kind of a mixed bag. I I personally know that a lot
- 58:12of people, especially with the amount of early access games
- 58:14because it seems like far for the course if you're not a major
- 58:16studio. Pretty much every game coming
- 58:18out right now is early access, either alpha, beta.
- 58:23Not that I'm saying CIG is not a major studio at this point, but
- 58:26I wouldn't necessarily call them triple AI.
- 58:30Think Squadron 42 for people who have never heard of Star Citizen
- 58:34or maybe aren't aware of its existence.
- 58:36Being that it's marketed more like a mix between a first
- 58:39person shooter game and like a flight SIM.
- 58:41Sort of like an Ace Combat meets Titanfall type deal.
- 58:45I think that'll bring in a certain market and those people
- 58:47that end up really liking the flight or really liking the
- 58:50combat will go, oh wait, I can also like make a base or join an
- 58:54org or any of these other things.
- 58:58I think. Yeah, not a Guild.
- 59:01Those are dumb. And.
- 59:03Who? The world.
- 59:04Would say that. Who would think a Guild would be
- 59:07a thing? That's like point.
- 59:09Of order, your honor, Point of order.
- 59:12Decline. Can we?
- 59:14We got to get rid of this orange character over here.
- 59:17He's got to go. You want, you know why do you?
- 59:19Why? You know what?
- 59:21Why do you describe him as just an orange character and you call
- 59:25me just a blue guy? Well, you are blue. 2 blue guys.
- 59:28Well, he always sees color I. Think we know the answer he
- 59:31only. Sees color.
- 59:32Oh, OK. I'm not color blind.
- 59:36Isn't Jar Jar color blind? Yeah, that's right.
- 59:39Yeah, I'm sorry. Is it probably hip?
- 59:41Hip of red? Green.
- 59:42Oh well, that's. Those are my colors that I
- 59:45usually play in Magic, so I should play those ducks more.
- 59:48You play what? Red, Green.
- 59:50Yeah. Gruel.
- 59:52Interesting. There is another question again.
- 59:55I wonder how they intend to add accessibility features like for
- 59:58color blind because I know that certain vehicles with the way
- 1:00:01the MF DS are set up, the Prowler utility specifically
- 1:00:04like all of the Hud's red. So if you're red green color
- 1:00:07blind, it's just going to be Gray on Gray or I I'm not color
- 1:00:10blinds. I don't know how it looks, but I
- 1:00:11imagine. Yeah, so recently, so recently.
- 1:00:17It didn't matter. It was all this, everything's
- 1:00:19the same color. It was very difficult.
- 1:00:24It's hard to read normally. I have a question for the host.
- 1:00:27They'll they'll have a way to implement that.
- 1:00:30I have a question for the host, Mr. Hobo.
- 1:00:34Yes, you mentioned Magic the Gathering.
- 1:00:38Oh gosh. Do you use those transparent
- 1:00:41pockets for your cards? Please.
- 1:00:44You're supposed to sleeve your deck if you're playing in a
- 1:00:47tournament. I get sick of seeing on sleeve
- 1:00:49decks. I played with one of these pair
- 1:00:51of. Pockets.
- 1:00:52They had an UN sleeve deck and it was 'cause it was like a
- 1:00:56brand new deck. But you should not do that.
- 1:00:57You should still use sleeves sleeve you.
- 1:01:01Protect the sleeves. Yeah, things that are on in on
- 1:01:04the ends of armholes of shirts. They are called sleeves, they're
- 1:01:09not called pockets or whatever they.
- 1:01:11Are transparent pockets with multiple.
- 1:01:15They're not all transparent like, they're half like.
- 1:01:18One side is transparent. One side is opaque.
- 1:01:22Yes, but the moment. Why they do that?
- 1:01:24The bottom line is, just like the Hurston Department of Public
- 1:01:28Health says, no glove, no love. Play it safe, wear your sleeves.
- 1:01:33Oh my gosh. Always sleeve your deck, that's
- 1:01:36how you get infections. Yes, Yep.
- 1:01:41OK, didn't we have a sexual harassment lecture like a couple
- 1:01:45months ago? What?
- 1:01:49We. Had to go through sexual
- 1:01:50harassment training a couple months ago I'm pretty sure
- 1:01:53comments like that. Yeah, we had to learn how to do
- 1:01:55it better. Still a few, obviously.
- 1:02:02Transparent sleeves are bad. Both sides.
- 1:02:06One side should not be transparent, that's the whole
- 1:02:08point. To be transparent sleeves when
- 1:02:11plant with a deck that you're actually playing with because.
- 1:02:14That's oh, we have a new call. Oh, we have somebody who must
- 1:02:18have been paroled. Oh my.
- 1:02:19God, OK, we can do. We have.
- 1:02:21He must have. He must have bought.
- 1:02:22He's only listening. His hand's not up.
- 1:02:25His hand's not up, we are not, but he must look the audio
- 1:02:28members. Why is the?
- 1:02:29Schedule started. We started talking about magic.
- 1:02:32Or we're going to get a message from HR.
- 1:02:33Again, right? We should start talking about
- 1:02:35start listening again. And, and I gotta say for Jar Jar
- 1:02:40being able to listen right now, he must have been able to post
- 1:02:42that 26,000,000 AUEC bond. Because currently, you know, our
- 1:02:49legal analysts are saying that if he is convicted, both him and
- 1:02:54Duke Latolle are looking at about 1700 years in pleasure
- 1:02:59with no time given for for turning off your computer and
- 1:03:03coming back to it a week later. Hey, remember he legally gets
- 1:03:06one call and instead of calling his lawyer, he's calling us.
- 1:03:09He's calling us. Wow, what a mistake on his part.
- 1:03:12Let's see if that works out. His hands.
- 1:03:16Down. I thought at least we could have
- 1:03:19one week without this kid and well.
- 1:03:22Unless he raises his hand, I'm not letting him in.
- 1:03:26I just want to say I'm really. Preschool rules.
- 1:03:30I'm excited for the Star Citizen magic set.
- 1:03:35Is that if they? Come with those translucent
- 1:03:38transparent pockets. No, you have to buy the sleeves
- 1:03:43like on your own separately. They don't come with them.
- 1:03:47So they don't come with them, so that means you don't need them.
- 1:03:51No you have to. Some cards are double sided so
- 1:03:53if you're not playing with a sleeve deck you it could be
- 1:03:56viewed as cheating because you can see when that card is you
- 1:04:00know about to pop up. Is there something in the rules
- 1:04:04of the game? When you buy a this game Magic,
- 1:04:07does it come? Is there somewhere in the rules
- 1:04:09that says you have to put your cards in these transparent?
- 1:04:16Yeah. Quite literally, there are
- 1:04:20rules. I do think it's funny.
- 1:04:24Is it? Is it?
- 1:04:25Is it in the these cards? They come with an instruction.
- 1:04:30No, we even get on magic. Sometimes.
- 1:04:33They do. If you if you buy like a starter
- 1:04:37deck, yes they'll come with rules or a one of those packs
- 1:04:41that comes with all the cards. OK, make your own.
- 1:04:44Starter, yes. So in those in those rules that
- 1:04:48come with those starter packs, does it say in there you need
- 1:04:53transparent pockets? Does.
- 1:04:56Does anything ever say transparent pocket?
- 1:04:59It will not say that. What does your basketball say?
- 1:05:04No traveling. Does it say no fouling?
- 1:05:06No, it doesn't say anything. It doesn't need to.
- 1:05:09There's rules that are made for these things.
- 1:05:12Well, you learn if you're in the community.
- 1:05:16Yes, but these, they're the rules are usually written out
- 1:05:20somewhere, yes. They are all.
- 1:05:24Transparent. Sleeves anywhere.
- 1:05:26That is not a term they would use a transparent pockets.
- 1:05:30God, you're melting my brain. When you go to your spice mine
- 1:05:36or whatever to is there rules that say you can't like snort
- 1:05:40the spice while you're pushing it into your mouth?
- 1:05:43Wow. OK, well, yeah, it's what's
- 1:05:45everyone's favorite spaceship. Spaceships.
- 1:05:51What I know, right? What a whole topic.
- 1:05:53They were awful in magic because you you have to crew that.
- 1:05:58They're like vehicles. I tried tried you.
- 1:06:01Can tell this nobody here plays Star Citizen anymore.
- 1:06:06They're all playing these cards with these unwritten rules of
- 1:06:10transparent pockets and whatnot and.
- 1:06:13These. Played.
- 1:06:13Very well. Two days ago so.
- 1:06:15They're obviously written down for the tournaments.
- 1:06:18These very well organized, codified and even legally
- 1:06:22binding rules that you agree to when you enter the tournament,
- 1:06:26you mean? Yeah, those I don't know.
- 1:06:31I was talking about. Lady the lawyer.
- 1:06:34There's a game called Magic the Gathering.
- 1:06:36Am I correct Correct. You're sitting.
- 1:06:39For the the weather. Engine the baseline here of.
- 1:06:42Saturday, the weather. Engine.
- 1:06:44It is. It is a a game and somewhere.
- 1:06:48And Morbius is a movie. Here is the Earth that's round.
- 1:06:52And the game of Magic the Gathering has.
- 1:06:55Ruled it's a nice. He's trying to just gaslight us
- 1:06:58all right now and there's somewhere.
- 1:07:01Is this time to talk about anything but starsys?
- 1:07:05That that is true. So with 4.8 coming up, are are
- 1:07:09you excited for the expansion of crafting?
- 1:07:14I am. Yeah, and.
- 1:07:17Can someone tell me about his battle cruiser though?
- 1:07:20Like I don't understand is it bigger than the Idris?
- 1:07:23Yes, it is going to be the largest player owned ship,
- 1:07:26player hanger owned ship in the game.
- 1:07:29And it's not a. Not a ship, it's a jpg.
- 1:07:33There is speculation. That is a Drake ship.
- 1:07:36It is not a Drake. What do you mean by a hanger
- 1:07:38ship? Like one that can spawn in a
- 1:07:40hanger. No, as as in like hanger bound.
- 1:07:43As in, you can pay pay Chris Roberts your money.
- 1:07:47Is the is the merchant man? I thought the merchant man was
- 1:07:50supposed to be the biggest, Is it not?
- 1:07:52No. What about the tiger?
- 1:07:57Was the biggest. The Bengal, but the Bengal?
- 1:08:00Was maybe it was the Bengal I was, yeah.
- 1:08:04But it will be be able to be owned by players.
- 1:08:06But it OK. What they have told us is that
- 1:08:09it was always persistent and. There's rules written anywhere.
- 1:08:13Oh my God, yeah. So where do we go?
- 1:08:17Actually in in stars, in this case, a lot of them are not
- 1:08:20written down. That is actually a problem.
- 1:08:23Some are, but a lot of it's just kind of like community knowledge
- 1:08:26here and there. See you see how problematic
- 1:08:29these things can be? With Magic the Gathering, the
- 1:08:33community. And all.
- 1:08:34I didn't bring it up but two. Cards with sleeves.
- 1:08:38It doesn't have to be written down, it's just common.
- 1:08:41Sense leave your deck. Sleeve.
- 1:08:44Your deck, I'm in a tournament. I see an unsleeved deck.
- 1:08:46I'm like, did you, did you miss the rules?
- 1:08:48Kick them out. On the top.
- 1:08:51Of the band and merchantman and Magic the Gathering at the
- 1:08:55current rate, given that all of the people that were working on
- 1:08:59the Merchant man disappeared, it's more likely that you will
- 1:09:03get a Magic the gathering, Banju Ban, and merchant man right now.
- 1:09:08Then you will get the actual ship.
- 1:09:11But they need to. Make Lego versions of ships 1st
- 1:09:13that I. Will buy those.
- 1:09:15It's I. I'm staring at my Star Wars Star
- 1:09:18Destroyer I just got. And well, we need finalized
- 1:09:21ships before we can get Lego. Lego one.
- 1:09:24That is true. That is probably why they've not
- 1:09:26done much in the way of merch and that sort of stuff, because
- 1:09:28they haven't finalized all the designs.
- 1:09:30So. So we're going to skip Gray box
- 1:09:31and go to Lego box. Yes.
- 1:09:34Yes. All right, so it is 10 past the
- 1:09:40hour, so we are coming up on the end of the show.
- 1:09:44Are there any pressing topics that anyone just has to get off
- 1:09:48their chest right now before we? Oh.
- 1:09:54Before. We he just abused his admin
- 1:09:56powers and barged in here. You, you could have just raised
- 1:10:00your fucking hand and you know what?
- 1:10:02I'm calling security because we did not let him in.
- 1:10:06Can I take this? For a second.
- 1:10:08Well, it's a shame I'm. Doing a lot of defending of
- 1:10:09yourself lately. What's going on?
- 1:10:11Are you? I thought I thought I clicked
- 1:10:15the raise hand button and I fully intended to raise my hand.
- 1:10:19OK. Yeah, just just yeah, I, I fully
- 1:10:22intended to drive sober, Sir, but like.
- 1:10:25Did he fully intended to? Return those turtles to the zoo.
- 1:10:28But yeah. What?
- 1:10:29Did the turtles? No, I didn't.
- 1:10:31I didn't. I didn't.
- 1:10:32Counts. Mm Hmm.
- 1:10:35Can I say something? I've been listening to you guys
- 1:10:36for like 10 minutes now and I have no idea what is going on
- 1:10:42here today. Don't go.
- 1:10:44Go ask the Gemini. I think I I clocked like 6
- 1:10:48minutes of transparent pockets talk and I don't.
- 1:10:54Check the chapters later on and it'll be it'll it'll, it'll make
- 1:10:58sense. Look, I don't, I don't want to
- 1:11:00give you guys too many notes, but you got to reign wicked in.
- 1:11:03Yeah, I mean could. Tell you the same damn thing.
- 1:11:05We could say the same thing to you, Mr. Jar Jar Jar.
- 1:11:10And and sorry. How many how many times have you
- 1:11:12apologized this week to a large group of individuals like.
- 1:11:16Four or five. Four or five everyone to
- 1:11:18apologize yet, because they'll love that.
- 1:11:23Yeah, I don't, I don't know how much you guys talked about it,
- 1:11:27but I did abuse the ping this week.
- 1:11:29But I just wanted to come in and say thank you guys for taking
- 1:11:32over the show and and thank you for doing.
- 1:11:34What your? Hard work tonight.
- 1:11:36Seriously. And from what I, from what I
- 1:11:40saw, you know, not great, but I'm, I'm, I appreciate that
- 1:11:45you're here. Yeah, oh it.
- 1:11:46Was back heaven because. It's because he's in the chief.
- 1:11:50Passive aggressive behavior. And I'll see you.
- 1:11:53Later. In all seriousness, thank you
- 1:11:55for doing the show and thank you guys for for being.
- 1:11:59Here. Well, we're still live, so we
- 1:12:00have to ask you the fucking question.
- 1:12:02Where do we go from here? Where do you go from here?
- 1:12:06Where do I go from here? Yeah.
- 1:12:10Jail is a is an OK. Yeah, Tuesday nights I play
- 1:12:13Magic the Gathering. I've pocketed all my cards in
- 1:12:16purple pockets. I try to play Star Citizen, but
- 1:12:20honestly, can I tell you something?
- 1:12:23What a hassle. What, pinging people?
- 1:12:26I've, I've been in the game twice this week and I just like
- 1:12:33hop into my prospector and I, I go out there and I, I, I speak
- 1:12:39in a ping and I ping the rocks and I don't find what I need and
- 1:12:42then I just go back in my bed. And then the rocks get really
- 1:12:45upset. And then the rocks get really
- 1:12:47upset. Yeah, I'm just, you know, I'm
- 1:12:49waiting like the rest of you guys.
- 1:12:50I'm just sitting there holding up waiting and finding other
- 1:12:55ways to spend my time pinging. And if anyone wants an F7A, I'm
- 1:13:02selling it for 1500. 1500. You went up.
- 1:13:09I have to question this a little bit because there is a chance,
- 1:13:13not a super high one, but there is a chance that they're going
- 1:13:17to rerun that token again. I know, that's why I'm trying to
- 1:13:21sell it now, so I'm trying to get rid of it.
- 1:13:24Your strategy is to increase the price.
- 1:13:27I'm not a good businessman, obviously.
- 1:13:31Let's see post high you sell low, lower and that gives the
- 1:13:37buyer the the sense of a deal. Yeah, but he started like in the
- 1:13:40medium and then went up. I'm going for the trade.
- 1:13:45I'll trade you. I'll trade you Skeeter.
- 1:13:49OK. Just going to take Skeeter from
- 1:13:51us. Oh wait, I'm I'm not part of the
- 1:13:56deal. Well, you are now that'll bring
- 1:14:03your transparent pockets. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:06I mean custody, you know, you know of all callers can be
- 1:14:10transferred at any time and you agree to those terms when you.
- 1:14:13If there was a Kraken involved, we could talk you.
- 1:14:17Could look at the fine print folks.
- 1:14:19Yep, that's what you get. Let's do, let's do, let's do our
- 1:14:25usual round of wrap up questions.
- 1:14:30Anubis, take us away. Yes.
- 1:14:33So as we end every show here, we ask our callers in reverse order
- 1:14:42of what they would like to say to Chris Roberts, the CIG or the
- 1:14:48people on the Internet. Yes, but before you take him out
- 1:14:53security, I just wanted to ask him real quick, what do you have
- 1:14:58to say to Chris Roberts, CIG or the people on the Internet?
- 1:15:05Nothing. Wonderful.
- 1:15:08Thank you. Get him out.
- 1:15:10Of here you just left get. The fuck out of here.
- 1:15:15OK. And Phantom, how about you,
- 1:15:19Chris Roberts, CIG, the people of the Internet?
- 1:15:22I I, I I would like to say that despite all of its shortcomings,
- 1:15:26and that list is long, thankfully getting shorter, it
- 1:15:31is probably the most unique experience you can get out of
- 1:15:34APC game in 2026. Amen.
- 1:15:38Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:45That's good shit. Go to the next one.
- 1:15:52OK, yes, I, well, I, I, I, I, I blanked out there for a second
- 1:15:57because I'm trying to remember the order here.
- 1:16:00Veritable. What do you have to say to CIG,
- 1:16:05Chris Roberts and the people who have not heard of Star Wars
- 1:16:08Galaxies yet, but still need to understand the glory that it is?
- 1:16:14I I was going to say not all that much because I'm being
- 1:16:17currently overrun by a pack of Copians.
- 1:16:19But for the people who haven't understood the glory of Star
- 1:16:23Wars Galaxies, just just look up it's history and, and the
- 1:16:26sadness that was Sony at the time.
- 1:16:27There's, there's, I'm sure there's a whole site that's
- 1:16:29written up the drama somewhere. Yeah.
- 1:16:33That's true, that's true. And and and I highly recommend
- 1:16:36that you do because you can see just kind of the hope that we
- 1:16:40get. I would think you and I get when
- 1:16:43we look at the future of I'm sorry, the future of Star
- 1:16:47Citizen as well. There it is.
- 1:16:52All right, so, so Skeeter, you currently have yourself on mute
- 1:16:57and I ask that you take yourself off mute so we can skip you and
- 1:17:01go straight. No, I'm.
- 1:17:02Kidding. Let's go ahead.
- 1:17:03Let's go ahead. Are you ready or are you OK?
- 1:17:07Yeah, I'm good. You know some if I got to like
- 1:17:10clear my throat, I don't want to like hack into.
- 1:17:12The oh, I just like full bore into the mic.
- 1:17:15Yeah. Oh.
- 1:17:15Yeah, people do it on Discord all the time.
- 1:17:17Like, Oh my gosh, mute yourself. Yeah.
- 1:17:20Anyways, so at the when I first joined, I, I suggested that
- 1:17:25maybe we were asked question. Question is, you know, where
- 1:17:29can't we go? I don't know if you remember
- 1:17:31that, but yeah, I was, I, I was. I've been thinking about it.
- 1:17:35And. The answer is Tara.
- 1:17:39Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:17:43OK. All right.
- 1:17:46All right. And so that's our show.
- 1:17:52You know, we have someone to rein in.
- 1:17:53We're not going to say their name so we can go ahead and rein
- 1:17:55them in, because we also don't want to be stuck with yet
- 1:17:59another legal letter from the Law Offices of Barnard and
- 1:18:05Wills, who represent the wife of the creator of our illustrious
- 1:18:11favorite game. We're not allowed to say her
- 1:18:14name. Yep, we're not allowed to say
- 1:18:15her name. Thanks.
- 1:18:16Thanks for that. Search the Nash rhymes with Andy
- 1:18:21Roberts, Yeah? So wicked to anyone at all,
- 1:18:26except except the one person we're not allowed to talk about.
- 1:18:31What do you have to say to anyone else?
- 1:18:34Anyone at all except that one person.
- 1:18:38Mr. and Missus Roberts as the leaders of CIG.
- 1:18:41All right. Jesus, that's $1500.
- 1:18:51Thanks. I would just like to say, I
- 1:18:53would just like to say in all your future communications with
- 1:18:59us about whether it's about Squadron 42, Star Citizen, the
- 1:19:05beloved MMO that we're all dreaming and hoping for to come
- 1:19:09in the future. As the great communicate as you
- 1:19:12are, we would really love for you to be transparent in all
- 1:19:17your knowledges and transmissions to us.
- 1:19:19Please be transparent. Thank you all.
- 1:19:24Right. Probably that cost us a lot of
- 1:19:26money. Thanks.
- 1:19:27As good as we're going to get. But it wasn't as bad as some of
- 1:19:30the others. Yeah, it could have been worse,
- 1:19:31I guess. All right.
- 1:19:34Well, Anubis, we did it. We we did.
- 1:19:38I I'm not sure how, but we did. We had an intruder in the
- 1:19:42building. They've been dealt with, yes,
- 1:19:45and it's gonna send them down the river.
- 1:19:48I I'm just gonna say I can't wait to see the body Cam on that
- 1:19:50one because I've been hearing screaming and I heard chairs
- 1:19:54thrown. I.
- 1:19:57Got. Hurt the the the I I I I heard
- 1:20:00Taser Taser Taser Taser Taser Taser again.
- 1:20:05Keep tasing him now tase his butt.
- 1:20:09Mm hmm. And then and then and then.
- 1:20:11Pepper spray deployed. OC deployed like at least five
- 1:20:14times. We have really good sound
- 1:20:16cancellation in here and we were just still hearing it through
- 1:20:20the door. Like it it's clearly edited out
- 1:20:22now. Like it's just we edited out
- 1:20:25with with AI, yeah or something. But it's see so it, it was so
- 1:20:32loud. It was, it was disturbing.
- 1:20:35Honestly, I just, you just hear the the the tongue and the ears
- 1:20:38flapping around, you know, it's just.
- 1:20:43Yeah, what? What?
- 1:20:44What's it like? What?
- 1:20:46It's gonna smell like fried fish.
- 1:20:49What? What was the noise?
- 1:20:52That one, yeah, that one, it's, that's just a recording,
- 1:20:55obviously, like. It's just.
- 1:20:57Like turning off the sound cancellation.
- 1:21:00Used to save me under. Arrest for what?
- 1:21:02For what? Well, let's play us out, Anubis.
- 1:21:12I got to play it out now. We're not going to call Duke and
- 1:21:15have him do it, all right? Well, Duke.
- 1:21:17Duke could have shown up, but he's currently on the run.
- 1:21:19He's probably halfway to Pyro. That it that is Take Me Home.
- 1:21:26Me home to the. Pair today's wait.
- 1:21:29Are we going to get a DNC strike?
- 1:21:32What? Kirsten Mountain.
- 1:21:36Shit. A city.
- 1:21:37Mama, Mama Mama. Simple.
- 1:21:40Philip for you. Get a strike.
- 1:21:45Yeah, that's DNC strike right here.
- 1:21:48Hey, well, like I was playing show changer lyrics.
- 1:21:51That's like enough of a copyright strike we're probably
- 1:21:55going to get. Anyway, thanks for coming folks.
- 1:21:57Thanks. Thank you.
- 1:21:59Bye.
