• 0:00
  [upbeat music] Hello, everybody.
• 0:20
Welcome to Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 142. Oh. Uh, yeah. Isn't it 144? Two. Two? Two. Oh, it seems so long. 142. Okay. We did 141 last week, so I'm figuring 142 this week Guess it'd be two. Yeah.
• 0:37
Uh, no JK this week. It's just Tony and I in the studio, and, uh, gonna probably go ahead and kick it right off here with a caller, 'cause we got a caller already- Ha... right in the thing. We're just like that.
• 0:51
You got a... Hey, welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line? Hey, is this Greg? This is George. Hey, George. George who? That's, that's, that's George. [laughs] No, I'm giving him shit. ManBearPig.
• 1:06
[laughs] Hey, everybody, George Kapitz from up there, Broken Spoke Cycles in, uh, Green Bay and other areas in northern, central, western, eastern Wisconsin up that way. [laughs] All those parts. All the...
• 1:20
You're, you're kinda taking over the, the up- upstate area there. Yeah, yeah. Uh, yeah, mainly northeastern Wisconsin, but- Yeah, so you-... close enough... so you, you have the, the flagship store's in Green Bay, right?
• 1:33
Right on the river there. Yep. Uh, we've, we've currently just turned that into our, uh, off-road store, fat bike store. Um, so we got rid of all the road bikes, e-bikes, kids bikes, family bikes.
• 1:47
Um, opened up another store on the, uh, east side and put all the bikes there. So downtown is all the fun stuff. Well, I shouldn't say fun stuff, but all the off-road stuff and, um, yeah. Right on.
• 2:02
And do you still have a store in, uh- That's why... Manitowoc as well? Yep. And then we have a store in Manitowoc as well.
• 2:09
Um- Oh, and, and that was your original, that was your original, uh, city, but not the original location, correct? Correct. Yep. Right on. Well, congratulations. You're doing a great job up there.
• 2:21
I can certainly agree with that. Thanks. Yeah, it's, uh, definitely a hustle every day. We got, uh, Sam D just walked in the door.
• 2:27
He's the, the fella we brought up there and got the Pivot earlier this year, so he's been, been happy with that thing. Yeah, I have been. Nice. Yeah. Nice. Right on. How's it going, Sam? I did get to t- excellent.
• 2:40
Yeah, I did get to take it out to Levis for a weekend and, uh, it was the first chance to really enjoy it on some pretty rough terrain, and it really handled really well.
• 2:49
And, uh, not really even used to a bike like that so much, so I can tell I've got a little bit to learn yet, but, uh, it really was fun as hell. Yeah.
• 2:58
Yeah, that, that bike is definitely a, a do-all Midwest bike, for sure. Sweet. So, uh, we, we got George on the show this week for a couple of reasons.
• 3:10
First off, you just had Global Fat Bike Day, Two Rivers chapter version last weekend.
• 3:16
Why don't you give us a little history on that, 'cause we've, we've been up to a few of those and they're, they're a, they're a blast and a lot of people show up to. How did it go this year?
• 3:25
Oh, this year couldn't have been better. Uh, we had good weather. We had a really great morning ride. And it seems like each year the morning ride really grows. You know, if you wanna come and see a lot of the park,
• 3:38
ride a lot of the beach, cover some mileage, um... I think we did about 18 miles on the fat bike, about a two-hour ride. Super chill, but y- we're still covering ground, so- Yeah...
• 3:49
yeah, a lot of people just- Super, super chill for George... did that. But they- Right. [laughs] You should see how big my eyes are, George. Oh. You're like, "Oh, yeah, this is, like, 18 miles on a fat bike? Okay."
• 3:59
Yeah, yeah. Awesome. [laughs] But I'm sorry, continue. But- No, it was fun... yeah, the beach was nice and frozen and... Yeah, this year the beach is back, so that was really cool.
• 4:08
Yeah, it's been that way down here- There you go... too, uh, near Port Washington. We've, we've got some beach back, which is good.
• 4:13
And, uh, we're just waiting for it to really firm up with the cold weather, 'cause it gets awesome in the winter. Yes. Yeah. We'll have to make a trip down there.
• 4:22
I never, I never rode the beach, um, kind of in the Milwaukee area. You guys ride, like, where, out of Port Washington?
• 4:30
Yeah, that's probably the best place to get the most mileage right now, but we do monkey around right down here in the city, too.
• 4:35
You know, just sort of depends on how the, the wind flows and the spray freezes and how much ice shelf we get off the lake there, so. It, uh...
• 4:44
But, uh, Port's pretty consistent just the way the topography of the shoreline up there is.
• 4:49
We can get a good quarter mile plus of ice out into the lake there that's super solid with the, you know, the big 10, 12, 15-foot moon crater sized- Yeah, it's-... you know, hills and, uh-... fun...
• 5:00
it, it's, it's a blast. Wow. Cool. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's always like riding in a alien world for sure, uh, in the wintertime on Lake Michigan. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Awesome. Love it.
• 5:12
Uh, so, uh, another thing we wanted to talk to you about is the Snow Crown series, which you're kicking off in Manitowoc at Shell Trac in a couple of... well, about a week from, from Saturday. So, uh, let u- Yeah...
• 5:23
clue us in on the series. I know it's one of the longest, if not the longest running series around, so... Yeah. That's right. So Shell Trac this year, um, will be year number 10.
• 5:34
I think we started the series as a whole, uh, 2014 or '15. Um- I was there... yeah, Shell Trac was, uh, year 10 of Shell Trac this year, and, um, I think it's gonna be a dirt year, dirt and beach year this year.
• 5:49
Uh, we're supposed to see 50-degree weather on Wednesday, Thursday, and then temps are gonna drop down into the low 30s, high 20s on Friday, Saturday. At least that's what the forecast is saying.
• 6:00
But, um- It's been fun... yeah, unfortunately no snow I don't think this year. Yeah, we got a dusting today, but I, it didn't stick around, so I, I don't... We're not gonna see anything through the weekend down here.
• 6:09
I don't know about next week yet, but it's, uh, it's been an- Yeah, uh- It's been a warm, it's been a warm early, early winter. Do you remember the year when it was so warm- Yeah... we could ride in the river?
• 6:20
[laughs] For Shell Track. Yeah, riding in the river. Yeah, that was crazy that year. It was so warm. Yeah. I... That's right. I think...
• 6:28
Was it that first year, or was it the second year, yeah, where- It, I think it was the second year it was that warm... where... Yeah, people are just riding right down the creek. So you've- That was...
• 6:37
what's the, the whole series is, uh, one, two, three... Is it four races this year? Yep, four races. Um, pretty much all in northeastern Wisconsin. Three in the Green Bay area, and then the one in Manitowoc.
• 6:50
Oh, I've definitely done- Yeah, so- Definitely done Reforestation Camp before. What are the other two venues? Baird Creek and Hilly Haven, what are those like?
• 6:58
So B- um, we haven't officially announced it yet, but, um, Baird's Creek is getting pulled out of the series, mainly just not enough room for parking, and it c- can't really handle much more than, uh, you know, 100 riders.
• 7:14
You know, so we're, we're usually seeing about 200 to 300 riders, plus all the spectators.
• 7:19
So we didn't officially announce it, but Baird's Creek is out, and we have our second meeting with, uh, the Green Bay Country Club, which is kind of a really cool private golf course.
• 7:31
Uh, we toured it a couple weeks ago, and there, it, it's, there's not a flat spot on the course. So it should be really cool. I remember doing a, we did a- Um-... race on a golf course up in, uh,
• 7:43
Michigan one of the f- o- one of the first years that we'd, we're doing fat bike racing, and it was on a golf course, and they used the sand traps a lot, which was really cool. Yeah. Ooh, yeah, that would be cool.
• 7:56
Um- Yeah, it's kinda like, yeah, that's perfect. You know, you got the snow, and then you got the sand, and fat bikes are perfect for that stuff.
• 8:03
So is the, is the TB date, to, to be determined date, uh, still gonna be that 22nd, or is that undetermined at this point? So yeah, it's, the, the plan is to still have it January 22nd,
• 8:16
but yeah, at the Green Bay Country Club. But yeah, like I said, we, we have our, uh, second meeting with them tomorrow, and, uh, should go official by the weekend. Awesome. Right on.
• 8:29
Well, I know you always throw a good party. Yeah, it- It's definitely a good time to do any Snow Crown Series races, so if, uh, folks are available...
• 8:36
I know we talked to, uh, Amelia Kegel last week, and there's very little overlap in the Huge Ass series and your series. So people, if they wanna race every- Yeah...
• 8:45
single weekend can probably do one or the other and have a really good time at either one of them. Right, or both. Yeah, absolutely. They can. So I, I think I was looking at the schedule. There is one that overlaps.
• 8:55
I'm not 100% sure, but somebody has brought it up. But February 5th, I think they actually have a race in Appleton, same date as our Reforest- Reforestation Camp race.
• 9:08
But ours is at night, so I think some riders, if they made the trip up, they can kinda double dip and do the Huge Ass in the morning and then our race at night. Um, we, we- Yeah, kinda I, I'm looking at the schedule.
• 9:21
It looks like the overlap one, at least according to the current schedule, would be that, that 22nd, that, uh, the one that was gonna be at Baird. Oh, it is the 22nd. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Never mind on that then.
• 9:32
Yeah, but that's a cool... That would've been cool. Like, they, they used to do a... W- when we did the Riverwest 24, it always ended here on a Saturday night at, at 7:00, and that was, like,
• 9:42
just when the, the race up in, uh, the 24-hour race up in the middle of the state was always going off. And it's like, "Well, can we get in a truck and go up there and do the last 12 hours up there?"
• 9:52
[laughs] It's like- The Wausau one? Yeah... yeah, yeah. [laughs] Yeah, it's like, uh, well, I need a driver, 'cause I'm gonna have to take a nap to go up there and do the other- Right...
• 9:58
the final 12 at that, that 24-hour race at, uh, Nine Mile or wherever it was or is. Oh, wow. Yeah, that sounds like a long weekend. Yeah.
• 10:07
Yeah, it's, well, it's like, uh, you know, it's like the, the race car driver's doing Indy and then boogying out and doing Charlotte or something like that on the same day.
• 10:13
It's like, "Yeah, let's get in the jet and go do another bike race." [laughs] Uh, ouchie. So, uh, another thing I just wanted to touch base with you on is fat bike availability this year.
• 10:26
I mean, we talked to, again, uh, we talked to Amelia last week, and they ordered a ton of them, and I think she said they'd gotten 10 in at this point- Yeah... or something. Yeah.
• 10:34
I saw you had a big stack of, uh, Salsas. How are, how are fat bikes doing, and is availability still... Do you still have bikes to, to sell to folks?
• 10:43
Yeah, we have, um, quite a f- well, not quite a few, but we have maybe 20 to 30 Salsa Mukluks still available. That's your kinda bread and butter base model, alloy frame, carbon fork,
• 10:57
you know, nice microshift one by 10 on it, hydraulic brakes. Yeah, we got, so quite a few models of that. And then we started getting a, a shipment of Bear Greases in, and we, we got a- Bear Greases...
• 11:09
quite a few frame sets in, so we've been doing some custom bui- high-end custom builds with those.
• 11:14
And those we've been shipping around the country, but everything else, um, you gotta be local or you gotta be willing to drive to pick it up. And we've had one guy from Kentucky come- Wow...
• 11:25
drive up and pick a fat bike up. We have a guy driving over from Wyoming, believe it or not, to pick one up. Wow. Um, it's, it's pretty wild. Yeah. Well, I, I'm glad you did- For sure...
• 11:37
you, you, you somehow foresaw that you were gonna need these, and, uh, o- obviously you're doing a good job with Salsa, so they take care of you. But that's, that's fantastic that you have availability. Yeah, yeah.
• 11:47
I mean, it's definitely our livelihood in the, uh, in the wintertime. We don't, you know, we don't do skis or fitness equipment or, um, anything like that.
• 11:56
So I mean, if we, um, if we didn't get fat bikes, I don't know if we'd be in trouble for sure. So usually we sell a couple hundred fat bikes a year, and, you know, we put in an order for over, I think, 200...
• 12:08
Salsa still came through and we got a hundred fat bikes. Um, so it definitely helps, for sure. You know, and th- that was the whole reasoning too with, like, if you want a fat bike, you gotta come pick it up.
• 12:20
We're not gonna ship this thing out. And that way we can capture some sales on boots and clothing and accessories and things like that. Otherwise, you know, if we're shipping a bike out, we're not gonna see any of that.
• 12:31
Yeah, for sure. And you're not gonna have a return customer down the road either, so. Yeah. Yeah. Right. I agree. Right. It's definitely helping. The sport's still growing up here, which is nice.
• 12:40
We're seeing more trails opening. Um, you know, obviously with our fat bike series, that helps. But yeah, it's, it's, uh, definitely growing in the, in this part of the country, for sure. Awesome. Right on.
• 12:53
When are you gonna open your first e-bike store? Um, you know, this new store that we opened, I would say majority of the bikes that have been going out of it have been e-bikes.
• 13:05
So it's not e-bike specific, but majority of the bikes going out the door are e-bikes. A much more family-oriented place, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Road bikes, hybrids, kids bikes, um, and e-bikes, for sure.
• 13:17
What, uh, what brand of e-bikes are you carrying? Uh, so we're doing Specialized is our main brand, uh, G- followed by Gazelle, and, uh, we just picked up a new line called Rambo.
• 13:30
They do a line of, uh, fat bike, e-bike, hunting bikes. And- Yeah. Yep, I know Rambo Yeah, yeah, we've seen them. They're- They- They're pushing them out pretty good...
• 13:40
they, yeah, it's definitely growing in popularity and, um, you know, it kind of brings me back to a couple years ago when Cogburn was around, and I think they were just a little bit ahead of their time.
• 13:52
You know, if they would've just came out now, like, I, I mean, you guys probably see it, e-bikes are just so hot and, um, you know, especially in the outdoor world.
• 14:00
Like, uh, it just seems like we have so many outdoor guys coming in and requesting this Rambo brand.
• 14:07
[laughs] Um, so they must be getting their mar- they must be getting their marketing out, out somewhere somehow that's, uh, reaching these, uh, these outdoor guys, so.
• 14:15
Yeah, I was, uh, watching, just kind of watching TV the other day as background while I was doing something, and there was a show about Polaris, you know, those all-wheel drive things that, uh, you know, they're like buggies, whatever you call those things.
• 14:29
Those things are bad ass. And they were, they, they were- What are they, side by side? Yeah, and they were hauling a... They were hauling, uh- Razor... e-bike... Yeah, Razors, right, yeah, the Polaris.
• 14:37
Um, and they were hauling, uh, mountain bikes on them, and then it turned out they were electric mountain bikes, which was kinda cool, 'cause they were out somewhere in Utah and they could really, you know, utilize the, the e-bike action and kind of drive back into the backwoods or the back desert with them.
• 14:51
Yeah. [laughs] It was pretty cool. Yeah. Nice. Very nice. All right. Well, George, anything else you wanna leave us with? 'Cause I think we got a lot of good stuff from you this week. Uh, Snow Crown series,
• 15:04
got a lot of fat bikes up there to get to folks, and also, uh, had a good, uh, Global Fat Bike Day. Uh, before we, before we go, maybe we should, uh, get to the top of the hill, I think.
• 15:14
Uh, where's my, where's my thingy? I don't know if you're still, uh, drinking beer, George, but we got, uh, something from Gathering Place over here as the show beer today. Are you, are you tipping one back over there?
• 15:29
You know, uh, yeah, let's tip one back. [laughs] So [laughs] we, we just got done with our group ride. Um, it's kinda nice. We, we just got a good four or five inches up in Green Bay, so- Oh, wow Mm...
• 15:43
everybody was super... Yeah, so everybody was super excited to do the Wednesday night ride. It was kind of our official first real snow ride.
• 15:52
So yeah, we just got done with that, and now we're headed into, uh, Los Vendidos, a nice little Mexican restaurant- Nice... here in Green Bay. Right on. To- Tony picked up the- Two, two hours...
• 16:02
Tony picked up the Gathering Place beer. I don't even know what this is. I haven't had this one before. Tra- I can never... It's Tropidelico. We actually have had this once prior in a growler. Uh, 6 ABV and 48 IBU.
• 16:17
It's a new American IPA. It's got a picture of a pineapple on it with a toucan, so it's got a- Yeah... little fruity aroma to it. Oh, that sounds refreshing. It is pretty tasty. Excellent. All right, man.
• 16:32
Yeah, they got it well there. Great. Well, I think we're gonna try... We're... Uh, s- I know Lund's for sure and I think, uh, Chuck are coming up to Shell Track.
• 16:39
We're gonna probably come up and do some photos and whatnot. And so I'm sure we'll see you- Oh, yeah... so h- we'll see you next weekend. Yeah. That, uh, that sounds exciting.
• 16:49
And, um, yeah, tell Lunds I'll have some gravy fries ready for him. [laughs] Nice. Is there still gonna be a PBR short cut?
• 16:58
So there's not gonna be a PBR short cut, but there will be Hinterland Beer flowing like, um, there's no tomorrow. Oh, that'll work. That'll work, too. That's a pretty fine brewery. Not bad. Yeah. Right on. Yeah.
• 17:10
All right, George, well, thanks for checking in. There, uh- We sure appreciate your, uh, taking the time Wait, wait, I was gonna say something about Hinterland. What was it? Oh, go ahead. George? Hello?
• 17:17
You were gonna say something about Hinterland? Oh, yeah, I was just gonna put a plug in for them. Yeah, they've been a, a really good sponsor for our series.
• 17:24
They show up to every race and, uh, supply us with beer and, uh, swag. So yeah, shout out to those guys. They're awesome. Awesome. All right, buddy. Yeah. Thanks again for calling in and taking time out of your day.
• 17:36
We sure do appreciate you checking in. Yep. Man Bear Pig. Good talking to you guys, and we'll, uh, see you next weekend. All right, brother. Sounds good. Take it easy. Take care, George. All right. Yep. Bye. Bye-bye.
• 17:48
George- That's on Saturday? Oh, sorry. That's George Cappas up there from Broken Spoke and the Snow Crown Fat Bike Series. Uh, it's 18th would be Shell Track, December 18th, so a week from tomorrow. Yeah.
• 18:00
[laughs] As far as that goes. Cool, cool. We'll see about that. Hey, heck a nay, we got another call. Oh, by the way, I don't... Did we say Sam D walked in the door before? Oh, no, Sam D's in the house. Yes, he is.
• 18:11
Sam D's in the house. Well, he's, he's been commenting a little bit. There, Sam's over there. He's sitting by the, by the JK-... microphone. I, I don't even know where JK is this week, actually. He joined yet?
• 18:22
Yeah, man. I'm surprised not to see him here, to be honest. [laughs] It's the first time ever that's happened- Yeah... that I've a- been aware of, so. Yeah, he must've had something- Hopefully he's okay...
• 18:30
must've had something important going on. He sent a note yesterday- Yeah... that he wouldn't be here, so. Maybe he's calling in. I hope his bike didn't get stolen or anything qui- quite like that anyway. Yeah.
• 18:37
Right, right, right. Let's hope not. Uh, let's push the button again. Let's see what happens over here. We got another button push. Hey. Hey, welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line?
• 18:46
What's happening, y'all? That sounds suspiciously like Big Sexy. Like Big Sexy. [laughs] It's Big Sexy calling you from Temple, Texas. From where in Texas? Temple. Temple. Temple, Texas. Temple. All right. I got you...
• 19:04
So you're still stuck in Texas two weeks after we talked to you last time? Well, I- I'll tell you what. Um, you were right. Uh, Lefty, and you know, we got Lefty, Righty, and Fronty, right? Just to make things clear.
• 19:19
Lefty had a bend and, uh, was only missing one spoke. Righty was pretty straight, was missing two spokes.
• 19:28
So I went and bought three spokes and a new spoke wrench from the, uh, Sun Country, Sun Country Bicycles right here in Temple, Texas, and I decided I was gonna true my wheel myself, and guess what? I did.
• 19:45
You did it good? Did you do it good? You done broke it? No. [laughs] You done broke it. I made it wa- [laughs] I made it way, I made it way worse, and three of their, uh, let's call them technicians, tried pro bono.
• 20:04
They, they didn't charge me for this. They tried to get Lefty right, and nah, no. No joy. So I had to call Schwinn. I had to call Schwinn and order a new rim,
• 20:18
and, uh, after begging my mother for a good 25 minutes, I got, um, a new rim on the way to Temple, Texas, and it took six days- Holy mackerel... to get here. Oh. So I... Yeah, so I've been, uh, I've been rolling around.
• 20:33
I mean, and then I was walking, I was walking Heather everywhere in Temple, Texas, and, uh, for six days we've been hanging out, and, uh, thank God Temple, Texas is cool, 'cause it is, it is very cool. I had my joke.
• 20:50
I said, "This isn't Trenton, New Jersey, is it?" [laughs] And most people said, "No, no, this is Temple, Texas." I'm like, "Okay, well, then I'm stuck in a worse place." [laughs] Wow. Okay. But I got the rim today.
• 21:05
I got the rim today, and it took me about six minutes to put the, you know, to get the tire in the, and the tube in there, and pump her all up, and get her ready to go, and now, um,
• 21:16
it's dark, so I got one more night in Temple, Texas, and I'm out of here tomorrow. All right. Wow. Whoo. I- So that delayed your- I, I-... arrival to New Orleans by a week or so? Absolutely.
• 21:29
Um, I expected to be knocking on Louisiana's door by now. Oh. Um, I, I do have friends to visit in Austin. I have friends to visit in Houston, or not in Houston, but outside of Houston, thank God.
• 21:44
But yeah, I'm, uh, I'm, I might be lucky to get there before New Year's Eve now. Ah. Well, the good thing is- But, uh, yeah... you'll get there someday.
• 21:54
[laughs] Well, as long as I'm s- I am, I'm, I don't know, about, uh, 79 miles of being south of I-10. As long as I'm south of I-10 before Christmas, I'll be happy. Mm. Very good.
• 22:12
But, uh, but yeah, well, well, well, there you go. Um, one thing I've learned is that I don't care.
• 22:19
I will spend 60 hours outside of a gas station to get the money up to have somebody true my wheel for me instead of having me do it, 'cause I, I mangled that rim.
• 22:30
[laughs] Well, you got all winter- It- You got all winter to give it a go again on, so you know- Yeah... you can find some, uh, wheels on the side of the road probably that you could- Practice up...
• 22:38
at least practice up on. Yeah. Well, the, the, I, I heard, I heard you gentlemen talking about Lund's. Um,
• 22:46
man, I wish I had an extra 20 bucks in my pocket, because I would've put that bent-ass rim in that, in the same box that my new rim came in and shipped it to him, 'cause I think, "This, that rim should've gone up on a wall somewhere."
• 23:00
[laughs] There you go. [laughs] Yeah. Once, once they get taco'd or, or really warped like that, there's not much you can do to bring them back, so, uh, it would've been- Right...
• 23:08
kind of a fool's errand to really give it a go. But, uh, you got... So how... You're gonna be at- Yeah, well- You're, you're gonna be in New Orleans until, what, March or so, do you think? Yeah, E- Easter probably. Okay.
• 23:20
Well, we're gonna work on something for you. And- I- if you had a good wheel set, I don't th- You know, those, the Schwinn wheel is basically a, you know, it's a machine-built wheel built to- Yeah... a specific cost.
• 23:32
Yeah. And they cannot really afford to give you the best of the best. But, uh, that's something we can actually do. I just gotta figure out what hub goes on your trike. Yeah, yeah.
• 23:41
And I've got the exact rim that will get you through- Well-... your entire trip without probably ever touching it.
• 23:47
So you know, you're gonna- Well, well, well, well, I- You're gonna have, you're gonna have better- Well, I-... you're gonna have better shoes for Heather next, next year.
• 23:54
I was talk- I was talking about Lefty, the, uh, my left rim. Now, my right rim was missing two spokes. [laughs] And I put the two, the new, the new, the, the, the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
• 24:10
Too much, uh, Lone Star beer in my belly right now. I put the two spokes in the right rim, and now she's straighter than Heather And I didn't even mess with it too much.
• 24:22
It, it like all of a sudden, like there wasn't much wobble to it at all. So now I'm gonna treat, treat right, uh, treat the right rim like it's glass. Yeah.
• 24:31
I'm, I'm gonna be very careful not to hit nothing with that 'cause that's, that rim, I, I replaced both rims just after Christmas last year. So I gotta be careful because I can't afford another rim.
• 24:44
I already used up my Christmas present and e- everything else I've got. No worries. We're gonna- Need to find boogers... we're gonna, we'll put something together for you. We wanna help you on the ride next year.
• 24:54
Yeah, that's good, man. So we'll, we'll get something worked out. So my- I mean, you know, the main thing with, with- My-...
• 24:58
with rims or with wheels specifically, is that the spoke tension all has to be the same all the way around the rim. Yep. You can't have loose ones in one spot- Yeah...
• 25:06
and tight ones in the other spot, otherwise it goes out of round, and that's- Yeah... pretty much what you got going there. Yeah.
• 25:13
Well, I'll tell you what, um, the, the, the plan right now, if I had to say what my plan is for next year, is right around Easter, maybe a little bit before, maybe a little bit after, depends on what my situation is in New Orleans, is I'm gonna ship Heather, I'm gonna put Heather in a box, I'm gonna ship Heather to the Cleveland area,
• 25:36
visit my friends in Wooster, Ohio, and bike up towards Detroit, and then I'm gonna go to Muskegon, take the boat across, and do River West 24. And then get- And Sexy returns to River West... to my brother.
• 25:52
Get, get to my brother's, and then we're gonna do Bismarck, Peory, Cheyenne, and Denver. That's the plan as of right now. I can, I, I, anything can change, of course. It's, that's a long time from now. Sure, sure.
• 26:07
All right, dude. Well, we're just about ready to wrap the show up. Appreciate you calling in, and, you know, when you get, when you get to Louisiana, make sure we know you're back in the home state at least.
• 26:15
Of course, I will, you guys. Hey, like, like I said, Ri- like I always say, River West is the best, but- Yeah, it is... I'll, I'll tell you what, central Texas is pretty fucking cool too. Right on.
• 26:27
Well, I'm glad you got a experience in Texas that's good. Thanks very much for calling in, and, uh, we'll talk to you soon. Peace. Take care. All right. Guys, thank you so much. Love you guys.
• 26:36
Um, I'll be contacting you sometime next year, I think. Right on. All right. Word. Bye. See you guys. Big Sexy having a little hiatus in Texas there, sounds like. Yeah.
• 26:48
Uh, I have a box of rims that are gonna work perfectly for his wheels. We just have to f- figure out the exact hub, and we'll have JT build up some wheels for him for a little on the road thing. Yeah.
• 27:00
I just, he needs something that's- Rhea wheels. Yeah. Well, I thought about taking the ones that we did. I, w- we have the same bike basically. Yeah. That fat bike trike we did. Fat bike trike wheels. Yeah.
• 27:12
You'd have to send him the fork too, though. Yeah, but he, he, they want it back. [laughs] I don't know, James is kinda holding onto that thing pretty, pretty dear, but, uh- Yeah. Yeah... right on.
• 27:21
So there's a couple, just a couple quick things I wanted to make sure we didn't forget this week. W- uh, Luns and I went to Rochester for the Santa Rampage last weekend. God, I saw a picture of Chewy.
• 27:30
We will not talk about Chewy's problem- He sent me a picture... at this particular time. However, uh, we all, well, Spinner, Captain,
• 27:40
L- uh, Chewy, and I all were on the news at, uh, KIMT, which is a local Rochester station, and there's a link in the show notes.
• 27:49
You can see what we had to say about the Santa Rampage, collecting toys for tots, and giving Milwaukee a shout-out, which I was like, "Yeah, boy."
• 27:57
Uh, that said, I did get a, a little, uh, text or well, it's actually I think in the Facebook thing from Schlabowski, and he said that the actual Santa Rampage name came from a buddy of his in Chicago who had done it over 20 years ago, and they used to go down and heckle the consumerism on Michigan Avenue.
• 28:14
Nice. [laughs] And he just, he said, "I changed the consumerism heckling songs to beer and brought it up here." [laughs] Oh, there you go. There you go. So yeah, it's been going on in Milwaukee for 20 plus years. Yeah.
• 28:27
Yeah. Good stuff. I did it for my second time ever this year, and it's so fun. I think I'll do it every year. That- Why, why was there so much negative feedback on Facebook, though? Fuck all you haters.
• 28:35
I- I have no idea. I don't know. There's some people get their- Good thing I'm not on it. I, I- Well, it's one freaking day. It's ha- it's a half a day really, and people get like all- Too cold...
• 28:43
butthurt about not being able to get through an intersection- To get through, yeah... for a minute or two. It's like- Yeah. So what?... if, if you're late for work, you left too l- you left too late. Oh, drivers.
• 28:52
Well- Yeah, people driving... well, people in general that just, and it's like, I don't know. Right. You know, I'm sorry. Yes. It's- Just give Santa a break for crying out loud. I hope you get coal for fucking Christmas.
• 29:02
Yeah. Santa says coal for you- Yeah... you grumpy people. Yeah.
• 29:06
Uh, also Luns sent me a text today that said he got two Ozzy Osbourne bags from State Bicycles for the price of one, which was the ninth day of the 12 days of Christmas.
• 29:16
So you're not gonna get that one anymore, but today is the 11th day, and I don't know what it is yet because you gotta click on it on the day of. Oh.
• 29:24
So there's two more days left of State Bicycles 12 Days of Critmas, and they had, uh, one of them was 100 bucks off a city bike, this two for one BOGO on any bags. I think they, they're doing some pretty good deals.
• 29:35
So if you wanna check out State Bicycles, go ahead and do that. And we gotta do an e-bike thing here. Rad Power, you know these guys, right? Yeah. I do know Rad Power.
• 29:44
They're the biggest cons- direct to consumer e-bike company. They just got another $150 million round of funding after they just got 150 million in February. So they're the- Yeah, they're-...
• 29:56
the biggest funded direct to consumer e-bike company out there, and boy, with money like that, you can make a heck of a lot of nice bikes, I think. Yeah. [laughs] Grab my, uh, grab my blue deck over there, Tony. Oh, huh.
• 30:08
I got... Oh, I can't even take a picture of it. Oh, well. Here, give it to me, and then you can take a picture of it. I think I talked about this last week. It's the, it's the, uh- I see something...
• 30:15
All Hail the Black Market Steve-O Kaniehl- Oh... skateboard deck that I, that I had to order just because... And that, y- I just learned that my bearings are trash. I think I just need an all new, I need all new stuff.
• 30:28
Ah. Why would I use old stuff when I get new stuff? But it's got clowns on it. Notice the clowns? Ooh, killer clowns. So I haven't even taken it out of plastic wrap.
• 30:38
And d- do I just stick it on the wall and save it for, like, 20 years- Throw it-... and sell it for 1,000 bucks, or...? Just throw that back to the store. [laughs] Or do... [laughs] No, I'm gonna ride...
• 30:46
I'm gonna ride the thing just 'cause I'm an idiot. Yeah. You could easily just get another board and hang this one on the wall. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they did do that. I could buy another one of these. No, not that.
• 30:55
Or another one of these. And it came with a sticker that says, "I'm not too old to skateboard, I'm just too old to fall down," which is 100%- [laughs] That's how I feel about skateboarding...
• 31:03
exactly the right thing to say. Yeah. I sure love it, but it does not love m- No... my body parts. I just, I... So, what I don't, I never was a street guy. I was a pool guy. I was on...
• 31:12
I was a Powell Peralta team guy back in the '80s, you know? I, I rode pools.
• 31:16
I didn't ride freestyle or tricks or s- We did street, but it was with, like, these old super soft Kryptonics wheels that were, like, as big as a, you know, scooter wheel. They were huge, so you could roll over anything.
• 31:29
I don't get how people ride those super hard wheels and don't just, like, fall on every little rock. Right. I got no idea how that works. Maybe different truck geometry. Maybe they're better than I am. I have no idea.
• 31:38
Little bit of both. Little bit of both, probably. No, they do catch on little rocks really bad. Yeah. [laughs] And they launch you. Very bad. [laughs] And they launch you. Yeah, for sure.
• 31:47
I just, I, I can't get launched much anymore. My shoulders won't take it, or my, you know, just my body won't take it. It's too, too bad, 'cause that really is fun stuff.
• 31:56
Um, yeah, I think we kinda covered everything on the show today. Thanks to JK for not showing up, 'cause we had a pretty good show. Oh, come on. He'll- [laughs] He'll be back next week, folks, I imagine. Maybe.
• 32:08
Maybe not after that. Well, probably. He'll be like, "What?" He doesn't even listen to this show. How is he gonna know what we're saying about him? I listen every Tuesday during Dr. Sushi.
• 32:14
So now you can say whatever you wanna say. Oh, yeah, it's perfect time to listen- Yeah. [laughs]... during Dr. Sushi. [laughs] Yeah. It's the one WMC show I have to mute. [laughs] Like, okay, time for some full spectrum.
• 32:26
There you go. Uh, speaking of, uh, well, let's see, there's two more shows coming up. Chewie just sent me
• 32:32
one with his fire fi- firefighter buddy, Chuck, who's battling cancer, and had an hour-and-a-half show of a lot of good stuff. That's probably gonna go up... They both have to go up pretty soon.
• 32:42
Plus, we did an 11:30 after Sad Cycle Rampage in Rochester, sitting in the Club 63 show- Oh... which I listened to a little bit of today, and I'm like, "Wow, we don't sound that bad."
• 32:54
So, uh, we did talk- This is obviously pre-crash? It was pre-crash. [exhales sharply] Yeah. Right on, everybody.
• 33:02
Thanks for listening to us blather in your ear again, and thanks to George for making it a good show, and- Yeah... Big Sexy checking in, and pretty sure we'll do it again next week, I guess. Hopefully. I don't how...
• 33:12
Oh, hey, I gotta push the button. Bye.
• 33:18
  [upbeat music]
