- 0:00SPEAKER_00: What a great memory you had mentioned.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: You had said your grandmother did this, and I don't recall seeing them for the longest time.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: So I'm in a bit of a different situation.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Our leaves get blown into the street per West Elmira's instructions.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: And then they come by after they've been sitting out there for 17 weeks and they finally suck them up after I'm sick and tired of blowing them off my lawn.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Like right now, they can bring a truck through.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying there's a lot.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: I like how you blow them to the street and then they get back in your yard and you're just fighting.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: You're like, get go to your home.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Bring the home.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Oh my God.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: So at any rate, uh, but they used to also have the pumpkin leaf bags.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I remember the pumpkin specifically.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: The spider, I kind of remember, but the pumpkin was very, it was this giant looking.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Well, it looked like a pumpkin once you filled it with leaves.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: And I had not I actually I still haven't seen one in one in a long time.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Me neither.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: It was just me remembering it with Zach the other day and saying that my mama was really smarter than we gave her credit for because she'd be like, let's play in the leaves.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Okay, now let's get them together.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Let's put them in this cute little bag.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: And here we are, we were raking her leaves for her.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Well, here's what actually there's two texts on this because I'm like, where can you get these?
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: The bags are at Dollar General, says 6767.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I just saw them the other day.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I've had I just had a flashback to my childhood.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: This is exactly what it is.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Here's another flashback, too, from Natasha.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: You know what I miss?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Those really obnoxious ghosts they used to have in the 90s.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: They'd be hanging, and no matter if the wind blew and you walked by, it'd make that crazy, like, ooh.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: And they were just flown at everybody's house.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, yes.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you would walk by just as like, you know, a normal walk by.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: You're walking your dog, it's so crazy.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: By the way, like I know dogs barking.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: You're like, oh my god.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I want to come back to the uh what your grandmother did with the filling of the orange bag and the playing in the leaves.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Here's the psychology to why this worked.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And it's such a roller coaster when you think about it.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: So it it involves fear, it involves joy, and it involves fear.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Like I said, the roller coaster.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Fear, joy, fear.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Fear, joy, fear.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: So the fear was you were young enough, you didn't want to upset grandma.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Because if you got upset from grandma, then you wouldn't have, and mind you.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: But then we get a swirpin.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Then mind you, uh she would only make craft macaroni and cheese for you guys, but there was something different about her craft macaroni and cheese.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: It was different from your mom's.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Made with love.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there was something different there.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So you didn't want to tick her off because you didn't want to miss out on that.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: But also on the flip side, the downside, you didn't want to, you didn't want to let down grandma.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, totally.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Because the letdown to grandma, there's no other letdown in the world.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Uh like the the uh pain that comes with letting down grandma, and she lets you know that you've let her down.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And now your whole future's passing in front of your eyes where you're like, Christmas is gonna suck this year.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna get the orange.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna get a pair of gloves that I get every single year with some money in it.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So, really, the side grandmothers back in the day had the psychology figured out.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: They knew how to manipulate a kid better than anybody.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: And also, she kind of gave a little bit of the silent treatment or this like real, almost like turning her shoulder to that.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: That's the letdown.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: You don't want that.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: That's right, that's right.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: You don't want it because it comes, it's what's to c then your little brain goes, Well, what's not gonna happen next?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Is she not gonna take me to get ice cream after dinner?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: That's no, just Marky.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Of course, of course, just Marky.
