- 0:03Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:07Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Bars.
- 0:09Speaker 2: And Lazarre from Lazarn Hello, everybody nailed it. Joined has
- 0:12Speaker 2: always by our bar Gas.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Here is Evan Lazar and Alex Bars.
- 0:20Speaker 2: There's certain nights and days that it's okay to let
- 0:23Speaker 2: the other sports have their day.
- 0:24Speaker 1: My bigger issue is part of what's great about the
- 0:27Speaker 1: NFL is the rarity of it.
- 0:28Speaker 3: That's always been what's great.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It shouldn't be on every day of the week. I
- 0:31Speaker 1: get they want to be on every day of the week,
- 0:33Speaker 1: but you're you're getting rid of and maybe the NFL
- 0:35Speaker 1: is too big to fail. Maybe I don't want them.
- 0:38Speaker 2: To test it. Yeah, and you will get.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Look, they're never gonna be baseball playing one hundred and
- 0:43Speaker 1: sixty two games. But one of baseball's biggest problems is
- 0:45Speaker 1: there's no urgency in watching baseball. And now you're doubling
- 0:48Speaker 1: up on the primetime games. The special thing about the
- 0:51Speaker 1: prime it's prime time. It's everybody, it's all eyes on you.
- 0:55Speaker 1: That's a cool thing.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Catch twenty two, Well, you're gonna be able to watch
- 1:03Speaker 2: the Patriots in prime time five times, right, at least
- 1:07Speaker 2: five times at least next season. We just keep rolling
- 1:12Speaker 2: along here this off season. This is the this what's
- 1:17Speaker 2: the second time that the Patriots have gone to the
- 1:19Speaker 2: Super Bowl since we've been covering the team, but this
- 1:21Speaker 2: is the first time that I've done it as in
- 1:25Speaker 2: my current role. And plus like just I'm older now, wiser,
- 1:30Speaker 2: hopefully a little bit uh And it just is interesting that,
- 1:35Speaker 2: like when you go to the Super Bowl and you
- 1:37Speaker 2: cover the team all the way through the Super Bowl,
- 1:40Speaker 2: the off season just goes like this, Like the condensity
- 1:42Speaker 2: of the off season is like I feel like we
- 1:45Speaker 2: haven't really stopped because everything, you know, the combine was
- 1:49Speaker 2: like a couple of weeks after the super Bowl, Free
- 1:51Speaker 2: agencies a couple of weeks after that. The Draft is
- 1:53Speaker 2: a couple weeks after that. Now the NFL has turned
- 1:56Speaker 2: the schedule release into a spectacle. So then that's a
- 1:59Speaker 2: couple of weeks after that, and then next week on Wednesday,
- 2:01Speaker 2: we're going to be out there for the first OTA
- 2:03Speaker 2: practice and we're going to do the whole spring circuit
- 2:05Speaker 2: all the way through June with it mini camp June
- 2:08Speaker 2: fifteenth through the seventeenth. So I like it, Like I'm
- 2:11Speaker 2: not I get antsy, Like I'm not the type of
- 2:14Speaker 2: person that wants nothing to do. I don't want to
- 2:16Speaker 2: be sitting around doing nothing all the time. I don't
- 2:19Speaker 2: like that. I want to be moving. I want things
- 2:20Speaker 2: to do. I want things to cover. That's why we
- 2:23Speaker 2: do this and not make more money in a nine
- 2:26Speaker 2: to five sitting in a cubicle somewhere. So like, I
- 2:29Speaker 2: just feel like it's it's a very different vibe like
- 2:33Speaker 2: the last two off seasons before this. Yeah, at this
- 2:35Speaker 2: point of the off season, I was like, oh my god,
- 2:37Speaker 2: how much more time do we have until training camp?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Like we still aren't there yet. Now it's like boom boom,
- 2:43Speaker 2: boom boom, right after another, we have another thing to
- 2:46Speaker 2: talk about and digest today. With the schedule, it's crazy.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's not just us, Like it's definitely not
- 2:51Speaker 1: a media thing. Bill Belichick after the Super Bowl and
- 2:54Speaker 1: was it twenty eighteen when he said, yes, twenty eight
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean he said it a million times.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You know, I want to say it.
- 2:59Speaker 1: We're what five six weeks behind everybody else the off
- 3:02Speaker 1: season And I said it afterwards, the off season is
- 3:04Speaker 1: going to be a sprint, not a marathon.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Here we are you know, you're right.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's it's it's been go go go. It's settled down
- 3:11Speaker 1: a little bit. I got to play some golf.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Over the weekend.
- 3:13Speaker 2: That was congratulations. Thank you very much, very appreciate, very
- 3:16Speaker 2: happy for you. Thank you. You would enjoy it, No,
- 3:19Speaker 2: I wouldn't.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Uh, yeah, it is.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It is moving pretty quickly.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I love it.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Like I said, you know, part of the the one
- 3:26Speaker 2: of the best parts of doing this job is that
- 3:31Speaker 2: it's not monotonous, like things are change all the time.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It's not a nine to five Monday through Friday. You're
- 3:40Speaker 2: not in one location all the time, either working from
- 3:42Speaker 2: home or working in a cubicle somewhere, like you're always
- 3:46Speaker 2: on the move. You're traveling, you're doing different things. That's
- 3:49Speaker 2: the to me, that's the most fun part of the job.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Like from a logistical standpoint, obviously the most fun part
- 3:56Speaker 2: of the job is the games and getting to go
- 3:58Speaker 2: to all the games, but it's in terms of actually
- 4:00Speaker 2: the day in and day out of it. So we're
- 4:02Speaker 2: going to talk about the schedule. Obviously, it is our
- 4:04Speaker 2: first show since the Patriots schedule officially came out, so
- 4:09Speaker 2: we already knew the opponents. Now we know the opponent,
- 4:12Speaker 2: the order of the opponents, what days the games will
- 4:14Speaker 2: be on, what times the game will be on. I
- 4:16Speaker 2: want to break out like the things that got brought
- 4:19Speaker 2: up at this time of year Alex, that are we
- 4:22Speaker 2: already kind of knew, but now we just have an
- 4:23Speaker 2: excuse to talk about him more. And then the things
- 4:26Speaker 2: that we actually learned last Thursday when the schedule was released,
- 4:30Speaker 2: because I think those are two separate buckets. And then
- 4:32Speaker 2: we also want to do some tiers about which games
- 4:37Speaker 2: fit into which tiers. So I have four tiers. I
- 4:40Speaker 2: believe I broke it up to must wins or like
- 4:43Speaker 2: layup games, games they should win, coin flip games, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: then the toughies, like the ones that are gonna be
- 4:49Speaker 2: tough games. So we're gonna do those two things, and
- 4:51Speaker 2: then of course we'll take your calls, your emails, we'll
- 4:53Speaker 2: talk some aj Brown, some OTA's probably previewed to next week.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But let's start with the schedule. So by now, I'm
- 5:02Speaker 2: sure everybody has actually seen the schedule, so I don't
- 5:05Speaker 2: think we need to go through the entire schedule game
- 5:07Speaker 2: by game, but a couple of the things that we
- 5:11Speaker 2: sticking to, the things that we actually learned last week,
- 5:13Speaker 2: not the things that we knew already, but the things
- 5:16Speaker 2: we actually learned. Like I said off the top of
- 5:18Speaker 2: the show, they got five primetimers, right, five primetime games
- 5:22Speaker 2: if you include the opener, So yeah, the opener in Seattle,
- 5:25Speaker 2: Thursday night football against the Bears, Sunday night football against
- 5:28Speaker 2: the Chargers, Thursday night football against the Vikings, Monday night
- 5:31Speaker 2: football against the Chiefs. So as anticipated, I would say,
- 5:36Speaker 2: a bump in scheduled primetime games. I do find it
- 5:40Speaker 2: a bit quirky that they're playing one Wednesday and two Thursdays, right,
- 5:44Speaker 2: And I know the Wednesday one is the first game
- 5:46Speaker 2: of the year, so it's a little bit different. But
- 5:49Speaker 2: two Thursday night games in the middle of the season. Yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 2: not ideal.
- 5:52Speaker 1: No, I mean, the league throughout a lot of conventional
- 5:54Speaker 1: scheduling this year and things that I honestly just assumed
- 5:57Speaker 1: were rules. I guess I never really knew, like, just
- 6:00Speaker 1: five times without a prime five teams without a primetime
- 6:02Speaker 1: game this year.
- 6:03Speaker 3: That's where we used to have every team played on
- 6:05Speaker 3: Thursday night.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So it kind of just netted out. But yeah, and
- 6:10Speaker 1: four or five primetime games on the road, yeah, two
- 6:13Speaker 1: so they are. They did not get any favors with
- 6:16Speaker 1: what are among their hardest games outside of Buffalo. Cannot
- 6:19Speaker 1: believe the Buffalo games are not in primetime. Yeah, I'm
- 6:21Speaker 1: gonna choose to blame the Bills for that.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm assuming that I don't know the excuse for the
- 6:25Speaker 2: first one in Week four. The second one. I'm assuming CBS.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Protected four twenty five games in a week, right, So
- 6:31Speaker 1: that's gonna be jim more reason. I mean at Buffalo
- 6:35Speaker 1: feels that, you know, new Stadium, Patriots first trip there.
- 6:38Speaker 1: That should have been the Sunday night football opener. But yeah,
- 6:41Speaker 1: they got They got no favors with a lot of
- 6:43Speaker 1: their hardest games.
- 6:43Speaker 2: So we already knew about the international game on last
- 6:46Speaker 2: Wednesday shows, so we don't have to talk too much
- 6:48Speaker 2: about that. But if you're into the whole standalone island window,
- 6:52Speaker 2: you know you are the only show in town. They
- 6:55Speaker 2: technically have six of those because they have the international
- 6:58Speaker 2: game too, on top of the five prime time. The
- 7:01Speaker 2: one nice thing about the couple of nice things about
- 7:04Speaker 2: the schedule the week eleven bye they have a little
- 7:06Speaker 2: bit and earlier by this week this year was two
- 7:09Speaker 2: years in a row. Is week fourteen, by right, the
- 7:11Speaker 2: latest week possible two years in a row. So Week
- 7:14Speaker 2: eleven sandwiched right in between the Germany game and Munich
- 7:19Speaker 2: against the Lions and the Chargers game in the La trip,
- 7:23Speaker 2: I would just say, you know, just putting all these
- 7:25Speaker 2: things together, the Thursday night games and the primetime games
- 7:30Speaker 2: on the road are tough. Like those are long nights,
- 7:33Speaker 2: long days. Like they play the game, they usually have
- 7:36Speaker 2: about an hour after the game to shower up and
- 7:39Speaker 2: get dressed and get changed and get on the bus
- 7:42Speaker 2: and then we get the bus and then you get
- 7:43Speaker 2: the plane and then we come back. So those are
- 7:47Speaker 2: the grind, you know. Road primetime games are not easy.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Road primetime games on short weeks are especially not easy
- 7:54Speaker 2: international travel. The Chargers game in the Seahawks game, I
- 7:59Speaker 2: would assume the team is probably gonna leave a little
- 8:01Speaker 2: bit earlier for those games, so it's going to be
- 8:04Speaker 2: a lot. But a Week eleven buy is a little
- 8:06Speaker 2: bit better than that Week fourteen bye they've had the
- 8:08Speaker 2: last couple of years. They also have zero games against
- 8:12Speaker 2: opponents coming off a bye week, so their net rest differential,
- 8:16Speaker 2: which I know is a big fancy thing this time
- 8:18Speaker 2: of year, they have the fifth best net rest days,
- 8:22Speaker 2: so they are in the plus in terms of that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Part of that is because you open the season on
- 8:27Speaker 2: Wednesday and then don't play again till the following Sunday.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You have two Thursday night ers, so you have long
- 8:33Speaker 2: weeks after that. So they ended up, you know, coming
- 8:36Speaker 2: out on the positive end of that, so better bye week,
- 8:41Speaker 2: some rest you know days built in there that other
- 8:45Speaker 2: teams don't necessarily have, but a full gamut of primetime games,
- 8:49Speaker 2: and then we get into sort of the minutia of
- 8:52Speaker 2: the schedule that we already knew, but we get to
- 8:56Speaker 2: talk about more now, right, which is how much harder
- 8:58Speaker 2: the schedule is this year compare it to last year.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I still think that this is a schedule. You know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: Warren Sharp's numbers have it at the twelfth easiest schedule
- 9:08Speaker 2: in the NFL. I don't go by last year's win percentage.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I think that that's a bad way to do it,
- 9:13Speaker 2: because this league, more than maybe any other sports league,
- 9:18Speaker 2: swings so much year to year of how teams perform.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That like, I don't really care how any of the teams,
- 9:25Speaker 2: including the Patriots, played last year. So the twelve easiest
- 9:28Speaker 2: schedule in terms of what Warren Sharp computes it, you know,
- 9:32Speaker 2: average wins for their opponents. I think the big one though,
- 9:36Speaker 2: is that right now, and granted again this is forecasting
- 9:40Speaker 2: or projecting, but right now, they're projected to play ten
- 9:44Speaker 2: teams with that will have a five hundred or better record,
- 9:48Speaker 2: So a winning record nowadays, because you can't be five
- 9:51Speaker 2: hundred ten teams. Last year they only played three of
- 9:55Speaker 2: those games and two of them are Buffalo, right right,
- 9:57Speaker 2: So like that to me is the biggest different its
- 10:00Speaker 2: is that it's not necessarily that I look at this
- 10:03Speaker 2: schedule and say they can't win certain games. I think
- 10:06Speaker 2: they are all winnable to an extent, but this is
- 10:12Speaker 2: a much harder schedule in terms of week in and
- 10:14Speaker 2: week out. They're going to be challenged in a lot
- 10:16Speaker 2: of these games. So from going from three to ten
- 10:19Speaker 2: is a big jump up. And you know, we'll get
- 10:21Speaker 2: into sort of the next exercise year with the layups
- 10:24Speaker 2: and the coin flips and all that kind of stuff.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But just on the surface, I just think that that
- 10:31Speaker 2: needs to be noted. Ten games against winning sched teams
- 10:35Speaker 2: with the projected winning record and twenty seven thousand miles
- 10:39Speaker 2: of travel. Yeah, that if they take a step back
- 10:42Speaker 2: this year. I think it's as much about all that
- 10:44Speaker 2: kind of stuff as it is the team actually being
- 10:47Speaker 2: worse on the field. You know, maybe they are only
- 10:50Speaker 2: a nine or ten win team instead of a fourteen
- 10:52Speaker 2: win team because of the way that the schedule broke
- 10:54Speaker 2: for him this time.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Well, this goes back to something we talked about last
- 10:58Speaker 1: year for me and when you talk about again the
- 11:01Speaker 1: number and I think the schedule ends up harder because
- 11:05Speaker 1: of some of the days that it it because the
- 11:09Speaker 1: way it's structured, with like primetime games and stuff right,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and the buy and all of that, I think makes
- 11:13Speaker 1: it a little more tricky. This is where we go
- 11:17Speaker 1: back to something you talked about last year with Mike
- 11:19Speaker 1: Rabel the program. How strong is your program they have?
- 11:24Speaker 1: And this is where again knowing the opponents, but the
- 11:27Speaker 1: schedule coming out kind of can change how you view it.
- 11:30Speaker 1: They play the Wednesday opener, they then have five Sunday
- 11:34Speaker 1: one o'clock games, and they're relatively easy games, easier it's
- 11:39Speaker 1: the easier part of the schedule Steelers, Jaguars, Bills, Raiders, Jets,
- 11:44Speaker 1: So you're gonna have a chance there to build a
- 11:48Speaker 1: little bit of a routine, build a little momentum, build
- 11:50Speaker 1: a little bit of a rhythm. After that Week six
- 11:53Speaker 1: game against the Jets, that's on October eighteenth, they are
- 11:56Speaker 1: not scheduled to play another Sunday one pm game until
- 12:00Speaker 1: December twenty seventh. Yeah, so that's ten weeks. On top
- 12:05Speaker 1: of that, not only do they not have a Sunday
- 12:07Speaker 1: one pm game within that stretch, they only play at
- 12:13Speaker 1: the same date and time back to back weeks once
- 12:17Speaker 1: it's Week eight at Miami, Week nine versus the Packers.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Both of those are Sunday four twenty five games. I'm
- 12:22Speaker 1: a big proponent that the NFL has started to kind
- 12:25Speaker 1: of kill the four o'clock window, and I hate that,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and they should put more games there, even if they're
- 12:29Speaker 1: not West Coast home teams. That being said, I don't
- 12:31Speaker 1: know why Patriots Dolphins is in that, but it is.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But the point being those first five really four weeks,
- 12:39Speaker 1: weeks three to six, because you you're not gonna have
- 12:42Speaker 1: your normal routine going into that Steelers game, You're coming
- 12:44Speaker 1: off a Wednesday game. It is going to be so
- 12:46Speaker 1: important for them to find their rhythm, find their routine,
- 12:49Speaker 1: build them because there is no routine Once that ends,
- 12:52Speaker 1: that's it. It's out the door, and that's where you
- 12:55Speaker 1: lean on to go back to what we talked about
- 12:57Speaker 1: so much when Mike Gravel was hired the program right knowing,
- 13:01Speaker 1: here's how we go about recovery, here's how we go
- 13:04Speaker 1: about training, Here's how we go about practice, here's how
- 13:06Speaker 1: we go about game planning. Here's how we go about
- 13:07Speaker 1: this and that. Because it's not gonna be you're not gonna.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Be able to do all right.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Monday we're gonna, you know, do recap and recovery. Tuesday's
- 13:13Speaker 1: a full recovery day, coaches and game plan. Wednesday were
- 13:16Speaker 1: gonna come in, get most of it installed. Thursday is
- 13:18Speaker 1: gonna be this, Friday's gonna be.
- 13:19Speaker 3: No, there is none of that.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you go Thursday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday afternoon, gotta
- 13:27Speaker 1: go to Germany Sunday morning, buy, come back Sunday night.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And by the way, Detroit, Munich to La even with
- 13:34Speaker 1: a buy in the middle, is not an easy trip.
- 13:36Speaker 1: You go Sunday night, Sunday afternoon, Thursday night, Monday night
- 13:41Speaker 1: to Sunday. There's very little chance if any, for routine
- 13:45Speaker 1: in there. So that's where you're leaning on Vrabel, You're
- 13:48Speaker 1: leaning on some of these veterans.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I don't know why my voice is going right now.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I haven't talked that much today.
- 13:52Speaker 1: That's where you're leaning on them to try to kind
- 13:54Speaker 1: of build whatever you built last year, continue that momentum,
- 13:57Speaker 1: because they're gonna play It's the Jets one right, getting readers,
- 14:00Speaker 1: Jets back back Jets. They're gonna play that Jets game
- 14:02Speaker 1: week six, Sunday, one o'clock. We are going to blink
- 14:06Speaker 1: and it is going to be Christmas, and so just
- 14:09Speaker 1: be having a structure and a culture and a program
- 14:13Speaker 1: and to fall back on. It's it's a real stress
- 14:15Speaker 1: test to that and we're going to see how it
- 14:17Speaker 1: comes out on the other side. Usually I'm the one
- 14:19Speaker 1: that loses losing my voice all the time I have
- 14:21Speaker 1: my voice is I don't know what constantly losing it pitches.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It just you know, what can you do?
- 14:28Speaker 5: Can you get You're just so excited of it, and
- 14:30Speaker 5: I understand.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, can you Well, I'm always excited talking about
- 14:34Speaker 1: the program part of it.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You guy your pants on.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That's that's why coach, not whoopsie, do we look at
- 14:39Speaker 1: the play?
- 14:40Speaker 2: But but what you know, my favorite game on the
- 14:42Speaker 2: schedule is what Thursday night in Chicago because it's just
- 14:45Speaker 2: my like, we'll get it's just perfect. I mean it
- 14:49Speaker 2: is it's our super Bowl. It's Ben Johnson, it is
- 14:53Speaker 2: our super Bowl.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We'll get to that.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Our philosophies are going to be going against each other
- 14:59Speaker 2: on the on Thursday night. I know that is a bummer.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I can't.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Can you get allergies as an adult? Like, I've never
- 15:05Speaker 1: had allergies my whole life. It's never been an issue
- 15:08Speaker 1: for me. And this year I'm feeling a little scratch here.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, just like take like a zais al
- 15:12Speaker 2: or something. Yeah, I say, like at our age, Like
- 15:15Speaker 2: you know, when I was younger, I had really bad
- 15:17Speaker 2: allergies and I'd have to take like prescription like flow
- 15:20Speaker 2: NAIs and stuff like that. Now flown is over the
- 15:22Speaker 2: counter actually, but it's not the same. Sh It's not
- 15:24Speaker 2: as good, man.
- 15:24Speaker 3: It's never even been remotely an issue for me.
- 15:28Speaker 2: It's not as good. It's not the same because they
- 15:31Speaker 2: they lowered it a little bit the potency to make
- 15:35Speaker 2: it over the counter.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm just saying I never had not.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Like the same. It doesn't hit the same anymore, never.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Even really a sniffle because of Paullen. It's never been
- 15:43Speaker 1: an issue for me.
- 15:43Speaker 2: So I've always had.
- 15:46Speaker 3: This growing up.
- 15:48Speaker 2: But I thought you really bad allergies.
- 15:51Speaker 6: No.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I always had really bad allergies, really bad asthma, but
- 15:56Speaker 2: especially this time of year. But now, yeah, I just
- 15:59Speaker 2: take a as aisol or Clarendon or something like that
- 16:02Speaker 2: once a day this time of year. You're fine, So
- 16:05Speaker 2: go go. It's expensive though, that that part stinks.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Just tough it out.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's like back to the schedule. I think that, uh,
- 16:13Speaker 2: those are my That is my biggest concern is what
- 16:16Speaker 2: you just outlined. I'm not I know a lot of
- 16:19Speaker 2: people are bringing up the traveling in the twenty seven
- 16:22Speaker 2: thousand miles. I gotta tell you, I'm not as concerned
- 16:25Speaker 2: about that. The way that they travel now, this ain't
- 16:29Speaker 2: like you're not flying coach, right. The bigger thing for me,
- 16:33Speaker 2: I'm telling you, though, they they're they're their staff like
- 16:38Speaker 2: they're you know, football support staff, the strength and conditioning,
- 16:43Speaker 2: the the medical side, all of it. Like they they
- 16:46Speaker 2: got the they get these players ready and rested and
- 16:49Speaker 2: comfortable on those planes. Trust me, Like it's not you
- 16:53Speaker 2: You're not flying, uh, you know, like you would in
- 16:57Speaker 2: a commercial airline like you and I. So I'm not
- 17:00Speaker 2: really as concerned about the travel aspect of it.
- 17:04Speaker 3: When it comes to travel.
- 17:05Speaker 1: The thing I look at traveling on a short week
- 17:08Speaker 1: is tough because you lose a day.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yes, here's the travel, it's.
- 17:12Speaker 2: The routine of it, Like the routines getting thrown off
- 17:16Speaker 2: of kicking offs are at different time different days.
- 17:19Speaker 1: No, just when you talk about like things like that,
- 17:21Speaker 1: the other one time zones and again it's the Detroit
- 17:25Speaker 1: I know they have the buye.
- 17:25Speaker 3: But Detroit back la is that's a lot.
- 17:29Speaker 1: That's the biggest thing.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You know, like by the bye kind of washes it out.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It helps. But if you want to talk about where's
- 17:35Speaker 1: the biggest concern for me about travel on this schedule,
- 17:37Speaker 1: it's not the total number of miles. It's that they
- 17:39Speaker 1: got a road Thursday night game, which is never ideal.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I know they're home, went to they got a road
- 17:43Speaker 1: Thursday night game, which is never ideal. And they're crossing
- 17:46Speaker 1: like six times is it six time zones in a
- 17:48Speaker 1: span of two weeks. I don't know what time zone
- 17:49Speaker 1: Munich is in.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I don't know either, but I would say that the
- 17:53Speaker 2: big Old Germany one time zone. The biggest thing is
- 17:56Speaker 2: the is the routine element of it that I would
- 17:58Speaker 2: be worried about different days, different time zones, different continents,
- 18:03Speaker 2: like all these different things that change.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Right in a span of three weeks.
- 18:07Speaker 1: If I counted this correctly, according to daytontime dot com,
- 18:10Speaker 1: they will be in eight time zones.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so that element of it is tough. That that's
- 18:16Speaker 2: a and when the schedule came out, I think a
- 18:18Speaker 2: lot of people pointed to the first four games of
- 18:20Speaker 2: the season looking, you know, like they could be pretty
- 18:23Speaker 2: tough opening in Seattle, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Buffalo seven out of
- 18:28Speaker 2: eleven of their first games on the road. Was another
- 18:31Speaker 2: big set stat that people kept throwing out to me
- 18:34Speaker 2: when I saw the schedule, because I'm.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Thinking of it from this angle more than anything else.
- 18:39Speaker 1: It was the middle of the schedule.
- 18:41Speaker 2: It was from that Thursday night in Chicago against the
- 18:44Speaker 2: Bears to the Monday night game in Kansas City, where
- 18:47Speaker 2: it's different times, different time zones, different countries, right like
- 18:51Speaker 2: or just you're just all over the map, primetime games,
- 18:54Speaker 2: Thursday night games, Monday night games. That can be you
- 18:59Speaker 2: know this isn't practice Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, travel, Saturday, game Sunday.
- 19:05Speaker 2: This is a whole, very little of that different animal,
- 19:08Speaker 2: and that can be difficult. Let's play the game, let's
- 19:10Speaker 2: play the let's do our tears. So you did your tears.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Let's hear.
- 19:17Speaker 1: No, it's your tears, and we can't steal the bit,
- 19:19Speaker 1: Like we don't want to completely steal the bit.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I mean, I told, I told that. So this happened.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Like I was working on this thing and I need
- 19:26Speaker 1: a headline. I couldn't come up with the headline. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: Matt Tolf and Ty Anderson are both better at that
- 19:31Speaker 1: to me, So I texted them and Dolff just text
- 19:32Speaker 1: me back, you did mass tears. I was like, whoops,
- 19:35Speaker 1: didn't mean to do that.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Okay, so my my buckets are maybe so slightly different
- 19:41Speaker 2: than yours were, but we can kind of make it
- 19:43Speaker 2: to explain the excise.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Basically, the idea Hawd was everybody does the record prediction, right,
- 19:47Speaker 1: you go to win loss, win loss, and I'd already
- 19:49Speaker 1: done that. And to your point earlier, like we need
- 19:51Speaker 1: stuff talk about this time of year, So it's like,
- 19:53Speaker 1: what's another way to look at those? So take a
- 19:55Speaker 1: step out instead of like directly defining every game. Because
- 19:58Speaker 1: so just for instance, I I had them at eleven
- 20:00Speaker 1: and six when I was going through it, when I
- 20:02Speaker 1: did that exercise, you can check that out in ninety
- 20:04Speaker 1: eight five sports ub dot com. But there's like, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: then it goes to, Okay, well are they closer to
- 20:09Speaker 1: twelve and five or closer to ten and seven? And
- 20:12Speaker 1: which games are the coin flips and which games are
- 20:14Speaker 1: most likely to change.
- 20:15Speaker 3: So I decided to characterize it that way. So I
- 20:18Speaker 3: did five categories.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Number one should be a win, no excuses, there's just
- 20:23Speaker 1: you If they lose one of these games, something went
- 20:26Speaker 1: horribly wrong, nothing short of that. Then I did probably
- 20:31Speaker 1: a win, and I have four games in there, probably
- 20:33Speaker 1: a win, but weirder things have happened, which is I'm
- 20:36Speaker 1: expecting them to win. They should be favored, but there's
- 20:39Speaker 1: maybe one or two variables that are like, Okay, there's
- 20:42Speaker 1: there's gonna be something to deal with. They should still win, yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but there's a little something to deal with that that
- 20:47Speaker 1: is going to require some extra attention. The four games
- 20:50Speaker 1: there coin flip. I had three games. That's pretty self explanatory.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I could see those games going either way, maybe slight
- 20:56Speaker 1: edge one or the other. But I really feel like
- 20:57Speaker 1: those are the toss ups. Then I did probably loss
- 21:00Speaker 1: but games that can be stolen. So this is maybe
- 21:02Speaker 1: a tough spot, you know, history the matchup something like that,
- 21:07Speaker 1: like they'll they might be the underdog and they could
- 21:09Speaker 1: steal it. It should be close, maybe within a field goal,
- 21:11Speaker 1: but it's gonna be a you know, slightly tougher game.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I had three games in that court category, and then
- 21:17Speaker 1: uphill battle. I had three games. These are the ones
- 21:19Speaker 1: that they're gonna be underdogs in. They're gonna like it's
- 21:22Speaker 1: an uphill battle. This is one that is gonna be
- 21:24Speaker 1: really tough. These are the toughest games on their schedule.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I just wanted to set them apart from the games
- 21:30Speaker 1: that can be stolen because this is really like it's
- 21:32Speaker 1: like a wow moment they come away from that could
- 21:34Speaker 1: be a statement win.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Okay, So I just made your thing more efficient by
- 21:40Speaker 2: by doing four buckets. So I had must win slash
- 21:45Speaker 2: layups like these are the one. These are the freebies.
- 21:47Speaker 2: These are the cupcakes. As Dan Shaughnessy would say, right like,
- 21:50Speaker 2: this is tomato tomato cans, whatever phrase he uses. Uh,
- 21:54Speaker 2: these are the layups, and I had three teams, you know,
- 21:59Speaker 2: five games in the the should be wins. So not
- 22:02Speaker 2: quite tomato cans. But if you come and you play
- 22:07Speaker 2: a professional game, and you put your best foot forward
- 22:10Speaker 2: and you take care of business as a good football team,
- 22:12Speaker 2: these are the games you should win, right. Coin flips
- 22:16Speaker 2: this is my biggest group here. I had five coin
- 22:19Speaker 2: flip games when I went through this, and then I
- 22:22Speaker 2: just had the tough ones, like the ones that if
- 22:24Speaker 2: they win, like your point, really good win statement kind
- 22:28Speaker 2: of win, you know, season defining kind of win. So
- 22:30Speaker 2: I think we're probably on the same page with the
- 22:33Speaker 2: tomato cans or the cupcakes or the layups or whatever
- 22:36Speaker 2: you want to call them. My only real take on
- 22:39Speaker 2: it are than the games, which is the two games
- 22:41Speaker 2: against the doll the Dolphins and Jets, so those are
- 22:44Speaker 2: four games, right, and then the game against the Raiders.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Those five games to me being layups, like those are
- 22:51Speaker 2: must win games because if you're gonna really inflate your record,
- 22:56Speaker 2: you have to beat up on these bad teams just
- 22:58Speaker 2: like they did last year. But if you win all
- 23:01Speaker 2: five of these games, you really only have to go
- 23:03Speaker 2: five hundred. The rest of the way to be a
- 23:05Speaker 2: playoff team, right, you know, that's five games you play seventeen,
- 23:08Speaker 2: So if you go six and six the rest of
- 23:10Speaker 2: the way, you just won eleven games, right Like, you're
- 23:13Speaker 2: gonna be in the playoffs with eleven wins. You may
- 23:14Speaker 2: not win the division, but you're gonna be in the playoffs.
- 23:17Speaker 3: I kind of have a breakdown like that too.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I was gonna do it after, but my idea is,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you win all four of the games that you should
- 23:23Speaker 1: win five.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Well, no, in mind, Oh you have a game you
- 23:27Speaker 2: don't you think that they could lose to either the
- 23:29Speaker 2: Jets or the Dolphins the race.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Well, well we'll get to that. Okay, we'll go through.
- 23:32Speaker 1: You win all four of the games that you should win.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You win at least three of the four probably should win,
- 23:38Speaker 1: but weirder things have happened. You get one slip up
- 23:40Speaker 1: over the course of the season, basically, so that puts
- 23:42Speaker 1: you at seven. I have three coin flips. If you
- 23:45Speaker 1: can win two of those, you're at nine. And then
- 23:47Speaker 1: in my two between my two hard game categories, I
- 23:50Speaker 1: have six. You win one of those five tough games,
- 23:53Speaker 1: so all the ones you should win three to four,
- 23:56Speaker 1: you probably should. Two coin flips in a hard game
- 23:59Speaker 1: gets you to ten and seven, you're probably a playoff team.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's a baseline.
- 24:02Speaker 2: So Jets times two, yeah, Dolphins times two Raiders. I
- 24:07Speaker 2: have all five of those games in the layup cupcake
- 24:10Speaker 2: Tomato Can Division.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So I had the at Dolphins in the probably a
- 24:18Speaker 1: win category just because of their history in Miami. So
- 24:21Speaker 1: even last year, remember that game was like close and weird.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It was close and weird, but it was before the
- 24:26Speaker 2: wheels came off in Miami. It was early in the season.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It was hot as hell down there. Tua was still healthy,
- 24:33Speaker 2: Mike McDaniel wasn't fired yet or on the way out.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Their whole season had to come apart yet. So at
- 24:42Speaker 2: that point, Miami was still a team that I think
- 24:44Speaker 2: people thought could It wasn't a contender, but could maybe
- 24:48Speaker 2: be a little frisky, right, And then the wheels really
- 24:51Speaker 2: came off the team. And what we know they're thinking
- 24:53Speaker 2: now of the Dolphins wasn't what they were in Week
- 24:55Speaker 2: two when the Patriots played them last year. I just
- 24:58Speaker 2: look at both the Jets and the doll and less
- 25:00Speaker 2: so with the Raiders, Like I think the Raiders actually
- 25:02Speaker 2: to me are better on paper than the Jets and Dolphins.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Right now when you think of Mendoza basically, and I.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Think Mendoz is much better than what the Raider, the
- 25:10Speaker 2: Dolphins and Jets are thrown out there at quarterback. But
- 25:13Speaker 2: that being said that I have a hard time excusing
- 25:16Speaker 2: them losing to teams that are actively tanking. Those teams
- 25:19Speaker 2: are actively trying to lose, like they don't want to win.
- 25:22Speaker 1: They were years where they were actively trying to tank.
- 25:24Speaker 1: In the Patriot albeit under different coaches, the Patriots still
- 25:27Speaker 1: struggled in It's the again the way I categorize that,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I'll read you the exact description that I wrote. Probably
- 25:34Speaker 1: a win, but weirder things have happened the games where
- 25:36Speaker 1: the Patriots should be fairly favored, but there's one or
- 25:39Speaker 1: two variables that have a chance to trip them up.
- 25:42Speaker 1: The at Miami thing historically has been that. That is
- 25:45Speaker 1: why I feel like, by my own definition, I have
- 25:48Speaker 1: to put them there. It's the easiest, and I for
- 25:50Speaker 1: what it's worth, if it.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Was in September, I would agree, because it's gonna.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Be no see, I think it's harder in November because
- 25:55Speaker 3: it's getting cold here.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And then No, I don't think so at all, because
- 25:58Speaker 2: down there in November it's going to be like seventy
- 26:01Speaker 2: seventy five. It's a shock to the system of I
- 26:03Speaker 2: think it's way harder to play down there in September.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I think I think it's where in early November than
- 26:08Speaker 1: it is in late December. I think you want it
- 26:09Speaker 1: to be as middle as possible, but I still put
- 26:11Speaker 1: it there, and for what it's worth, within the categories
- 26:13Speaker 1: I rank them. So, for instance, there should be a win.
- 26:16Speaker 1: The home game against the Dolphins is, in theory, their
- 26:18Speaker 1: easiest game. It's just week eighteen, assuming everybody plays that.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You know, if they have everything locked up and they
- 26:24Speaker 1: sit people whatever, I think that's their easiest game.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Then verse the Jets, then verse the Raiders, then at
- 26:30Speaker 3: the Jets.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So if we're going easiest to hardest, then I have
- 26:33Speaker 1: the Dolphins is the easiest in that next category.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Okay, so I have the the four games against the
- 26:40Speaker 2: Jets and Dolphins and the Raiders. Okay, layups, cupcakes, tomato cans.
- 26:44Speaker 2: You're five and zero. If you just take care of
- 26:46Speaker 2: business in those games, yeah, gotta have them. Gotta have them.
- 26:50Speaker 2: In my opinion, this should be wins. So I'll give
- 26:52Speaker 2: this like a seventy five to eighty percent chance that
- 26:57Speaker 2: they're gonna win these games. If again, if they stay
- 26:59Speaker 2: out of their own way and all that kind of stuff, right,
- 27:02Speaker 2: I think they should beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I have the Steelers in that category.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I actually be pretty disappointed if they lost to that
- 27:08Speaker 1: that corpse twice. I have this. I mean they turn
- 27:12Speaker 1: up all over five times last year almost beat them. Yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I have the Steelers, so again I put them in
- 27:17Speaker 1: order legitimately easiest, hardest. The Dolphins leading off might probably
- 27:21Speaker 1: win category. I have the Steelers as the next easiest game.
- 27:24Speaker 1: And although they're in the same category, I think the
- 27:26Speaker 1: next couple are a jump But I think the Steelers
- 27:29Speaker 1: game is closer to the Dolphins, Jets, and Raiders than
- 27:31Speaker 1: it is.
- 27:31Speaker 3: To this next group.
- 27:32Speaker 2: So the Steelers.
- 27:33Speaker 1: The one thing that makes the Steelers kind of tricky
- 27:36Speaker 1: that definitely, I think they have too much roster talent
- 27:39Speaker 1: to call them a true tomato can anyway.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Steelers Yeah, yeah, on defense, yeah. But the one other
- 27:44Speaker 2: element of it is that the last couple of times
- 27:47Speaker 2: the Patriots have played Aaron Rodgers early in the year,
- 27:50Speaker 2: so they played them week three, right, was it last year? Yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 2: it was a week three and then the year before
- 27:56Speaker 2: that they played Remember that Thursday night game in New
- 27:58Speaker 2: York was his first game back from the injury and
- 28:00Speaker 2: they got their doors blown off of them by the Jets. That, yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 2: it was his first game in New York, New York.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah that those were early in the season, right, and
- 28:11Speaker 2: he was still healthy and he wasn't banged up yet,
- 28:14Speaker 2: and he was moving around, especially two years ago. He
- 28:17Speaker 2: looked like MVPR and Rodgers that night on that Thursday
- 28:19Speaker 2: night game with the Jets. So getting them early with
- 28:23Speaker 2: a guy like Rogers, a forty two year old quarterback
- 28:26Speaker 2: that by the end of last season, Rogers was a
- 28:28Speaker 2: shell of himself. He didn't want to get hit. He
- 28:31Speaker 2: was getting rid of the ball so quickly that his
- 28:33Speaker 2: a dot was like plummeting because he wasn't throwing the
- 28:35Speaker 2: ball down the field. He couldn't move out of the pocket.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So he's basically a statue in the pocket. You might
- 28:42Speaker 2: get a little bit more of a throwback Aaron Rodgers
- 28:45Speaker 2: like you did last year and two years ago early
- 28:47Speaker 2: on in the season, but he is at best at
- 28:52Speaker 2: this point. The twentieth best quarterback in the NFL. Sure
- 28:57Speaker 2: you can't be losing games at home to those types of.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Patriots have not won their home opener since twenty twenty,
- 29:03Speaker 1: so we've got to get that back on track to
- 29:04Speaker 1: got to change that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I just you can't.
- 29:06Speaker 1: You should take care of business against the Steelers, and
- 29:09Speaker 1: you should beat Aaron Rodgers.
- 29:10Speaker 2: The other game I had on here was the Vikings
- 29:13Speaker 2: Thursday night game. I just feel like you're playing a
- 29:16Speaker 2: team that I have no idea what direction that team
- 29:18Speaker 2: is going in. You know, we we've taken our small
- 29:21Speaker 2: victory laps on JJ McCarthy. Is it going to be
- 29:24Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy? Is it going to be Kyler Murray? That's
- 29:26Speaker 2: going to be their quarterback? If their season kind of
- 29:29Speaker 2: start and go belly up? They already fired their GM.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I think AOC is a great coach, but the quarterback thing,
- 29:34Speaker 2: they really quarterback situation horrible.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Seems to seems to be a pattern with some of
- 29:39Speaker 1: these Shanahan guys. So I'm gonna gloss past that.
- 29:43Speaker 2: So the Viking is the Vikings at home on a
- 29:47Speaker 2: Thursday night on a short week, when by that point
- 29:50Speaker 2: in the season, where's Minnesota. I feel like that's a
- 29:53Speaker 2: play a spot. You should be able to take care
- 29:55Speaker 2: of business.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I had that and that that's my next game, literally
- 29:58Speaker 1: going easiest to hardest. After the Steelers, the Vikings, probably
- 30:01Speaker 1: a win. Again, that's seventy five eight ninety Vices are
- 30:06Speaker 1: coming in as a road team, short week. It's literally
- 30:09Speaker 1: just Christiganzalez take care of business against Justin Jefferson and
- 30:13Speaker 1: the Patriots should win that one relatively easily. Yeah, so
- 30:16Speaker 1: so what unless Jefferson goes off, that's Patriots win.
- 30:19Speaker 2: So we do you have any more games than these
- 30:21Speaker 2: first two categories? Yes, Okay, I put the Green Bay
- 30:24Speaker 2: Packers in the probably a win.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Now.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I was very close putting them as a coin flip.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But I love the spot for the Patriots. I just
- 30:31Speaker 1: love the spot. So this is one where before the
- 30:34Speaker 1: schedule came out of why do you looking at opponents?
- 30:37Speaker 3: I might have had them as a coin flip.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Okay, they are coming back from Miami.
- 30:43Speaker 3: There's always a tough trip.
- 30:45Speaker 1: The Patriots are. Yeah, Paper's come back to Miami, which
- 30:48Speaker 1: is always a tough trip.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 1: So again I think that game is gonna be a
- 30:52Speaker 1: little hairy. Patriot should still win. But does it look
- 30:54Speaker 1: like it did last year, or it comes down late.
- 30:56Speaker 1: So I think they come in kind with a chip
- 30:57Speaker 1: on their shoulder. Love the four to twenty five time slot,
- 31:01Speaker 1: it's gonna be a little chili here. I also don't
- 31:03Speaker 1: know with the Packers, so it's outside of Toyota Thon,
- 31:07Speaker 1: so you don't have to worry about Toyota Thon. Jordan Love,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you're being sarcastic with that, right, like that ninety sarcasm.
- 31:12Speaker 1: He's better as the year goes on, and you're getting
- 31:15Speaker 1: there is like truth to it to Jordan Loves gets
- 31:17Speaker 1: better as the year goes on.
- 31:18Speaker 3: You're getting him relatively early.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Where is Michael Parsons at if he is back from
- 31:24Speaker 1: the torn acl at that point, he's probably just back.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I'm not super worried about him.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Relative mean, he's Michael Parsons, but relatively speaking, this isn't
- 31:31Speaker 1: getting him. I don't think you're getting him a hundred
- 31:33Speaker 1: percent if he plays. And I just I don't love
- 31:36Speaker 1: their wide receiver group. They didn't replace Romeo Dobbs. They
- 31:38Speaker 1: don't have a lot of guys throw the football too.
- 31:41Speaker 1: You know they have Tucker Kraft, but he's you. He
- 31:43Speaker 1: gets hurt a lot, and is he playing in that game?
- 31:45Speaker 1: And then finally Mike Rabel against his former offensive coronator
- 31:48Speaker 1: and Matt Laflour. I like Rabel in that matchup. I
- 31:50Speaker 1: think he uses that as an edge. You know, a
- 31:52Speaker 1: lot of these Tennessee guys against him. You also have
- 31:54Speaker 1: on the other side DeMarcus Covington, cam Accord former Patriots staffers.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I just you know, I like the Patriots and that
- 31:59Speaker 1: kind there's a lot. I'm not saying those actual bad
- 32:02Speaker 1: blood there. I don't think there is. Can Rabel use
- 32:06Speaker 1: that to kind of get them going. I think they
- 32:07Speaker 1: come out hair on fire for this one.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Love the spot for the Patriots.
- 32:11Speaker 2: So I have this in the coin flip category. I
- 32:13Speaker 2: just have too much respect for Green Bay. I think
- 32:16Speaker 2: they're a good regular season team. I think they have
- 32:18Speaker 2: a lot of roster talent on that team. I think
- 32:21Speaker 2: Laflora is a good regular season coach. I don't know
- 32:23Speaker 2: if he's a good big game playoff coach, yees not,
- 32:26Speaker 2: but I think that he is a good regular season coach.
- 32:28Speaker 2: It's a good program, it's a good system. Offensively, Jordan
- 32:32Speaker 2: Love is a good quarterback, especially you know in this
- 32:35Speaker 2: kind of spot, So I think that that's going to
- 32:37Speaker 2: be a relatively competitive game. Like I think it's probably
- 32:41Speaker 2: a little bit disrespectful to Green Bay to say that
- 32:43Speaker 2: the Patriots should seventy five percent.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I'd put that more like the sixty to seventy percent,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I guess, But I think it's a little more n
- 32:50Speaker 1: acquintable end because I love and I think the Packers
- 32:53Speaker 1: have a touch game the week before, if I remember correctly, I.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Think it will be a juiced up Galt Stadium.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, you're gonna get Brady's going to be bad,
- 33:00Speaker 1: going to be bad. I wonder if that's the week
- 33:02Speaker 1: Gronk gets inducted in the Hall of Fames. You get
- 33:04Speaker 1: Gronk at how to I just again that spot for
- 33:06Speaker 1: the Patriots and Packers are coming off a home game
- 33:09Speaker 1: against the Panthers, So I don't know anything like is
- 33:14Speaker 1: that like it's the Packers, like wearing Packers actually have
- 33:18Speaker 1: extra time to uh get ready for it. They play
- 33:21Speaker 1: Thursday night the week before.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Wearing throwbacks that game.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Maybe like it's the Packers, Like yeah, there's only a
- 33:27Speaker 1: couple of games that makes sense to you. We can
- 33:28Speaker 1: go over that if you want. I have some takes
- 33:30Speaker 1: on that.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I think that would be fun. So I have this
- 33:32Speaker 2: and I have the Packers. Is the first coin f
- 33:34Speaker 2: game spot too much? You know, I'm I'm not gonna
- 33:37Speaker 2: do my tight pants sky lafore like that and be disrespectful.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I'm going to play. I'm gonna say he's got a
- 33:42Speaker 2: puncher's chance in that game.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Uh.
- 33:45Speaker 2: A couple more coin flips for me.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Chargers at Chargers, I still flip. I have that as
- 33:53Speaker 1: a coin flip. I still need to see more from
- 33:57Speaker 1: the Chargers.
- 33:58Speaker 2: For me to be like, okay that that's a team
- 34:01Speaker 2: that I'm going to put in the same category as
- 34:03Speaker 2: you know, a Seattle or a Buffalo or something like that.
- 34:06Speaker 2: To make it a truly a tough game, I think
- 34:09Speaker 2: the spot is a little bit tough. You know, traveling
- 34:11Speaker 2: across the country is a very tough spot. On a
- 34:13Speaker 2: Sunday night football game is a tough spot. But I
- 34:18Speaker 2: feel like we get a lot of jazz. If people
- 34:21Speaker 2: get jazz up justin Herbert, they jazz up the coach.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And I know they had injuries last year on the
- 34:27Speaker 2: offensive line that contributed to the Patriots kind of controlling
- 34:30Speaker 2: that playoff game last year. But at some point justin
- 34:34Speaker 2: Herbert Zer and three in the playoffs. And I know
- 34:35Speaker 2: this is in the playoff game, but my point is
- 34:37Speaker 2: is like, if you're gonna be up in this weight class, yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 2: as the Chargers, they got to win some of these
- 34:42Speaker 2: games before I'm convinced that they belong in the weight class.
- 34:45Speaker 2: So for that reason, even though I don't really love
- 34:47Speaker 2: the Patriots in that spot, I'm still calling this a
- 34:50Speaker 2: game like that they have a really like at least
- 34:52Speaker 2: a fifty fifth chance.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Because the Chargers have not.
- 34:55Speaker 1: And that's exactly why the Chargers historically are not good
- 34:57Speaker 1: in this spot. If this was like a four to
- 34:59Speaker 1: one five game early in the year, short, right, it's
- 35:03Speaker 1: a tough spot for the Patriots.
- 35:05Speaker 3: But yeah, I have it as a coin flip. So
- 35:08Speaker 3: I had three coin flips, So.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I believe it was last year?
- 35:11Speaker 1: Was it?
- 35:12Speaker 2: They played Denver late in the year, right, where like
- 35:15Speaker 2: technically the division, I think it was one of those
- 35:18Speaker 2: games where they could have won the game and put
- 35:20Speaker 2: themselves in the driver's seat for the division. They they
- 35:23Speaker 2: got their doors blown off, and I know they don't
- 35:26Speaker 2: they didn't have their tackles. So maybe this year with
- 35:28Speaker 2: Shaan Slater and Joe Alt stay healthy, and both those
- 35:30Speaker 2: guys are available in this game and it changes the
- 35:33Speaker 2: course of it. But like that playoff game was not
- 35:35Speaker 2: really all that competitive dive either, Like I know it
- 35:37Speaker 2: didn't really the Pagerots didn't really like put them away
- 35:40Speaker 2: until later on in the game, in the second half.
- 35:43Speaker 2: But in reality, you know, the Chargers had no chance
- 35:46Speaker 2: of scoring that day. They had no chance of moving
- 35:48Speaker 2: the ball.
- 35:48Speaker 1: I want to see more from the Chargers now, you
- 35:51Speaker 1: know you yeah, deserve the bendfit of the doubt that
- 35:54Speaker 1: they can win that game. So similarly, a couple more
- 35:57Speaker 1: that I feel like are similar to that one and
- 35:59Speaker 1: my coin flip category, I have the Jaguars game in
- 36:02Speaker 1: Jacksonville in Week three as a coin flip game. I
- 36:05Speaker 1: also have that as a coin flip I have one
- 36:07Speaker 1: other because again I did them in order of difficulty.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I actually had one game before that that's also coin flip.
- 36:12Speaker 3: That's the home game against the Bills.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but the Jaguars maybe, do you remember that game
- 36:17Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen in Jacksonville.
- 36:19Speaker 2: We talked about it yesterday.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl loss and that
- 36:23Speaker 1: ended up and they'd played the Jaguars in the playoffs
- 36:25Speaker 1: the year before and a N'C championship game, but that
- 36:27Speaker 1: ended up not being a good Jaguars team. They only
- 36:28Speaker 1: won five games, but they just I looked it up.
- 36:31Speaker 1: The final score was thirty one to twenty. If you
- 36:33Speaker 1: told me it was forty two to ten, the way
- 36:35Speaker 1: that game felt, I'd believe you.
- 36:36Speaker 2: I mean, they just it was their Super Bowl.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Completely man handled the Patriots in that game. And it's
- 36:42Speaker 1: like again, going down to Florida early in the year,
- 36:44Speaker 1: you gotta deal with the heat.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Things like that.
- 36:46Speaker 1: It's to a Jaguars team that's trying to prove that
- 36:48Speaker 1: last year wasn't a fluke. Now, that sure might have
- 36:50Speaker 1: been a fluke because the Jaguars generally don't have good
- 36:52Speaker 1: two good seasons or two bad seasons in a row.
- 36:55Speaker 3: They just sort of roller coaster. Yeah, but yeah, that's
- 36:59Speaker 3: a coin flip for me. That's a tough spot.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed. I just same as the Chargers. I need
- 37:05Speaker 2: a little bit more proof of concept from that. Cora
- 37:07Speaker 2: and Jacksonville, Liam Cohne, Trevor Lawrence. You know, a lot
- 37:12Speaker 2: of things went right for them last year. They won
- 37:14Speaker 2: a lot of games. Liam Cone should hold his head high,
- 37:17Speaker 2: you know, after that. But he didn't get that joke,
- 37:20Speaker 2: did you.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Oh that's right, that's right.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it took you a seconds.
- 37:24Speaker 7: But the.
- 37:26Speaker 2: The one thing that stands out to me, and it's
- 37:28Speaker 2: they're related. It's two things that are both related. They're
- 37:33Speaker 2: kind of watching Travis Hunter like kind of already and
- 37:37Speaker 2: we're not really talking about it because they won what
- 37:39Speaker 2: fourteen games last year, and but that still feels kind
- 37:43Speaker 2: of Jaguars to me, Like they still they don't really
- 37:46Speaker 2: know what to do with him, and I think that
- 37:47Speaker 2: they're going to commit him to corner and it's probably
- 37:51Speaker 2: his most natural position. It's probably the right call. But
- 37:55Speaker 2: the other thing that's related to that is, like, why
- 37:58Speaker 2: is all of a sudden, Brian Thomas Junior not a
- 38:00Speaker 2: fit for them? So this guy has a huge rookie season,
- 38:04Speaker 2: uber talented, great at LSU, great rookie season, coaching chains
- 38:08Speaker 2: in Jacksonville, and now all of a sudden, like Brian
- 38:10Speaker 2: Thomas Junior is not fit to be a Jaguar like
- 38:13Speaker 2: and he might be on the trade block on his
- 38:15Speaker 2: rookie contract, and like it just feels like there's still
- 38:18Speaker 2: a little bit of that Jaguar stink. To them where
- 38:21Speaker 2: like there's some roster moves and some scuttle butt where
- 38:24Speaker 2: you're like, what's going on down there exactly? And are
- 38:26Speaker 2: we sure that Trevor Lawrence is really the guy? Like
- 38:29Speaker 2: I think he's a guy, I just don't know if
- 38:31Speaker 2: he's the guy. Like I know Drake May is the guy.
- 38:34Speaker 2: I don't know that yet about Trevor Lawrence. So I
- 38:37Speaker 2: had them in my coin flip as well a couple
- 38:39Speaker 2: more coin flips. The Bears game. I think it's just
- 38:45Speaker 2: as coin flippy as you possibly can be a coin
- 38:48Speaker 2: flip game. I think those two teams, in a really
- 38:51Speaker 2: fun way, are like mirror images of each other.
- 38:53Speaker 1: The adn't easy schedule last year, took a quarterback the
- 38:56Speaker 1: same year they were between hiring the same coaches.
- 38:58Speaker 2: The Bears are just the NFC. Yeah, it's cool. I
- 39:01Speaker 2: like it. I think it's a fun sort of game
- 39:04Speaker 2: to play because you have the first overall picking that
- 39:07Speaker 2: draft in Caleb Williams. You have the third overall picking
- 39:10Speaker 2: that draft in Drake May. Both quarterbacks, like you said,
- 39:12Speaker 2: they change coaches. They kind of have a disaster rookie
- 39:15Speaker 2: year with both those quarterbacks change coaches. The Bears get
- 39:19Speaker 2: Ben Jonson, the Patriots get Rabel. Those are the two
- 39:23Speaker 2: top candidates on the coaching market that cycle. That is,
- 39:28Speaker 2: that could be a game where if they keep building
- 39:31Speaker 2: around these young quarterbacks, like that's like a future of
- 39:33Speaker 2: the NFL type of game. If Caleb Williams is on
- 39:37Speaker 2: the upward trajectory and Drake may is with him on
- 39:39Speaker 2: that upward trajectory, those two guys could be two guys
- 39:43Speaker 2: that meet in the Super Bowl someday. Yeah, and that's
- 39:45Speaker 2: a fun game. That's my favorite game on the entire schedule.
- 39:48Speaker 2: My last coin flip game because I just had too
- 39:51Speaker 2: because I just, you know, I just like the disrespect
- 39:53Speaker 2: from the Denver Broncos Denver, Denver in New England. Coin
- 39:57Speaker 2: flip game. Still don't believe in them, have no reason to.
- 40:02Speaker 2: We'll see what boat Nicks looks like after the injury.
- 40:04Speaker 2: We don't have to go to Denver this time, Alex,
- 40:07Speaker 2: So don't worry. Okay, you won't have.
- 40:10Speaker 1: To play My thinking that you won't have to play
- 40:13Speaker 1: at that you don't have to go it's Denver. Oh god,
- 40:18Speaker 1: oh god, you don't have to go there. You don't
- 40:20Speaker 1: have to go there.
- 40:21Speaker 2: The game's here, heavy breathing. The game is here, so
- 40:26Speaker 2: don't worry, everybody, don't panic. Coin flip game, all right,
- 40:30Speaker 2: Broncos Patriots, SOFC Championship game rematch.
- 40:33Speaker 3: My coin flips were Chargers home versus Did you have
- 40:35Speaker 3: home versus the Bills?
- 40:36Speaker 2: In there?
- 40:36Speaker 1: No, ridiculous would have been ridiculous anytime you We'll get
- 40:41Speaker 1: to it. We'll get to I had Chargers home versus
- 40:44Speaker 1: the Bills and at the Jags.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Is my three coin flip games.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Chargers home against Home against the Bills, and what was
- 40:50Speaker 2: the third one?
- 40:52Speaker 3: The Jaguars the Jackuars.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Okay, so I had more. I had Packers, Chargers, Jags,
- 40:56Speaker 2: Broncos Bear So I had five coin flip games. That's
- 40:59Speaker 2: gonna make or break your schedule right there. Yeah, you know,
- 41:02Speaker 2: you go five and oh four and one against those
- 41:04Speaker 2: coin flip teams versus two and three, one and four, Like,
- 41:08Speaker 2: that's gonna end up being the difference between being a
- 41:11Speaker 2: ten to twelve win team and an eight to ten
- 41:13Speaker 2: win team. Right So that that's the season in my mind,
- 41:17Speaker 2: is those five teams right there, the tough ones, the toughies,
- 41:20Speaker 2: the games that are gonna be real football games. Both
- 41:24Speaker 2: games against the Bills not one.
- 41:27Speaker 3: So what is this category? What is this category?
- 41:30Speaker 2: This is tough ones. These are the toughest games on
- 41:32Speaker 2: the schedule.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Okay, but it should be a fair expectation that they elite.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I guess we're doing semantics here for me.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Coin toss is like this is where out of the
- 41:43Speaker 2: coin flip games? Okay, but we're into the next tier.
- 41:45Speaker 3: So you you think, more.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Likely than not the Bills sweep the Patriots.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I think anytime you beat Josh Allen is a good win.
- 41:54Speaker 2: You think so? I think that's not a guest.
- 41:57Speaker 1: More likely than not the Bills sweep the Patriots. The
- 41:59Speaker 1: Bills who got worse? Who? The Patriots played tough for
- 42:03Speaker 1: six of eight uh three or four halfs last year?
- 42:07Speaker 3: And then the Bill Scott sixty eight quarters? Whatever it is?
- 42:10Speaker 3: They're the math you it is you think the Bill
- 42:15Speaker 3: it's more likely than not the Bill.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Sweep the Patriots. I don't think it's more No, I
- 42:19Speaker 1: think it's more likely that they split. But then one
- 42:22Speaker 1: of the games has to be a coin flip. Because
- 42:24Speaker 1: what you're saying is these are the games the Patriots
- 42:26Speaker 1: are more likely to lose than win. No, what I'm
- 42:29Speaker 1: saying flip.
- 42:31Speaker 8: No.
- 42:31Speaker 2: What I'm saying is these are the toughest games on
- 42:33Speaker 2: the schedule. All right, I have too much respect for
- 42:35Speaker 2: Josh Allen. I think you have not enough respect for
- 42:37Speaker 2: Drake May. I think Drake May is great. What do
- 42:40Speaker 2: you mean then you.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Don't think there's as good a chance at home the
- 42:43Speaker 1: Patriots beat the Bills as there is the Bills beat
- 42:45Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 42:46Speaker 2: There there might. I don't know as good. I mean,
- 42:49Speaker 2: how did it go last year? Not great?
- 42:51Speaker 1: Well, but the Patriots also won there you you are
- 42:54Speaker 1: putting we are Now. The whole point of this exercise
- 42:57Speaker 1: is it's essentially this is so catch twenty two, This
- 42:59Speaker 1: is so no, this isn't semantics. Is you not understanding
- 43:02Speaker 1: the exercise? The point is it's most likely the least
- 43:05Speaker 1: likely to win. This is you?
- 43:07Speaker 2: So the game sutrating because you want me to say
- 43:11Speaker 2: that the Bills aren't good and I'm just not gonna
- 43:13Speaker 2: say that.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I think saying that a Bills team that got worse,
- 43:17Speaker 1: you big DJ Moore, Guy Evan, A Bills team that
- 43:20Speaker 1: got worse, but they botch their coaching situation, he is
- 43:23Speaker 1: more likely than not to sweep the Patriots.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I was adding dj Moore getting worse.
- 43:27Speaker 1: They got old, they didn't add any significant players, and
- 43:30Speaker 1: they got old. They're still getting older, and who knows
- 43:33Speaker 1: what's gonna happen with the coach.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I agree. That's the one point you've made that I
- 43:37Speaker 2: agree with. The one point that you have made that
- 43:39Speaker 2: I agree with is that for all of his faults,
- 43:43Speaker 2: you had a floor, a high floor with Sean McDermott.
- 43:45Speaker 2: You knew that A Bill's team with Josh Allen at
- 43:48Speaker 2: quarterback and Sean McDermott as the head coach was going
- 43:51Speaker 2: to make the playoffs like that was just an automatic.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Where do they went anywhere in the playoffs is a
- 43:56Speaker 2: different story, And the reason why they made a coaching
- 43:58Speaker 2: change is because they haven't gone anywhere playoffs?
- 44:00Speaker 1: Right?
- 44:00Speaker 2: Can we agree on that they had high floor with
- 44:03Speaker 2: Sean McDermott. That team was a playoff team no matter what.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Well, not because of Sean mcdermotty.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Yes, but he didn't get in the way.
- 44:09Speaker 3: He not in the regular season.
- 44:12Speaker 2: You're the worst. You can't. You just can't even say
- 44:15Speaker 2: he did not get in the way of them being
- 44:17Speaker 2: a playoff team. Fine, we do not know that about
- 44:20Speaker 2: Joe Brady. There is a chance that Joe Brady gets
- 44:23Speaker 2: in the way. But you think it's more likely than
- 44:25Speaker 2: not the Bills win both. You would get you were
- 44:27Speaker 2: in Vegas, you would favor the Bills in both games
- 44:31Speaker 2: if you're setting the line. If I'm setting the line
- 44:34Speaker 2: today today, no, as we do, I would have the
- 44:36Speaker 2: Patriots favored at home and I'd have the Bills.
- 44:38Speaker 1: So then you can't sit the whole point. Okay, then
- 44:40Speaker 1: we did two totally different exercises. What else point was
- 44:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I thought we were trying to do
- 44:46Speaker 1: the same thing here. Like we have this conversation. We
- 44:49Speaker 1: ants easy.
- 44:51Speaker 2: This is good radio. We don't have it.
- 44:52Speaker 1: It's easiest.
- 44:53Speaker 5: Paths are favorite. It's still gonna be tough.
- 44:55Speaker 1: It's a tough game, but the coin flips are tough games.
- 44:58Speaker 1: That Jaguars game is a tough game. The Chargers, I
- 45:00Speaker 1: have the Bills one of them.
- 45:02Speaker 2: It's a tough game. The Bills are tougher. The Bills
- 45:04Speaker 2: are a better team than all those teams you just named.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I think the Bills coming here should not be That's
- 45:12Speaker 1: a game that, yes, I kind of expect Patriots to win.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I don't think it's like a disappointment if they lose it.
- 45:16Speaker 1: It's a hard game against the division rival at home
- 45:20Speaker 1: after what happened last year. Is a fair expectation, assuming health,
- 45:24Speaker 1: that the Patriots win that game.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Tough one. You should be counting on the Patriots to
- 45:28Speaker 2: win that game. Beating Josh Allen is tough.
- 45:30Speaker 1: You have the Bills, as far as I'm concerned, you
- 45:32Speaker 1: have the Bills sweeping the Patriots, which is wildly disrespectful
- 45:35Speaker 1: to Mike Rabel and Drake Back.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I do not have I didn't say I did not
- 45:40Speaker 2: say that. I said that this that beating the Bills
- 45:43Speaker 2: is gonna is not going to be easy. It's not
- 45:45Speaker 2: a coin flip. Game is a game that you realistically
- 45:49Speaker 2: can win this game.
- 45:50Speaker 1: So you're saying the Patriots can't realistically win both Jets
- 45:53Speaker 1: on both Bills games, both Bills games. No, they can't
- 45:56Speaker 1: realistically win the game. Here, you're saying they can't realistically
- 45:59Speaker 1: win the game game can.
- 46:00Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be a tough game.
- 46:02Speaker 3: That's what you think a coin flip.
- 46:05Speaker 1: You just don't want to put it in the coin
- 46:06Speaker 1: flip because you can't do you can't bring yourself do
- 46:09Speaker 1: that to Josh Allen and the in Buffalo. You can't
- 46:12Speaker 1: bring yourself to admit that the Patriots have caught or
- 46:15Speaker 1: maybe passed the bills, which they have.
- 46:17Speaker 2: The one, the one thing I would say to Josh
- 46:19Speaker 2: Allen stopped going to Sabers games, like stop stop going.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Did he go to game seven?
- 46:24Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I didn't see mister Buffalo game seven.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I know he went to the Bruins game when he
- 46:28Speaker 2: when he did the whatever they do the thing. I'm
- 46:31Speaker 2: not saying that it's stupid good. I think all of
- 46:33Speaker 2: them are stupid. By the way, that wasn't like a
- 46:35Speaker 2: shot at the Sabers gimmicky stuff. All of our gimmicky
- 46:38Speaker 2: stuff is stupid. But that that, uh, you know, just
- 46:42Speaker 2: stop going to Sabers games. Tough one both but Bill's
- 46:46Speaker 2: games are gonna be tough. They're always to. That doesn't
- 46:48Speaker 2: mean he's he's Michael Myers like you gotta kill him.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Tom Brady is Michael Myers. I won't let you use
- 46:54Speaker 1: that Tom Brady. Tom Brady is forever has been. Tom
- 46:58Speaker 1: Brady's in Fox's booth, Alex. I've said this, I've said this,
- 47:02Speaker 1: not putting a helmet ally, but he compares Tom Brady
- 47:05Speaker 1: to Darth Vader. I don't think that's the if you
- 47:07Speaker 1: want to compare Bills them, I know, but just Brady,
- 47:12Speaker 1: if you want to compare Brady to a movie villain
- 47:16Speaker 1: is independent what we were talking about. I've just always
- 47:18Speaker 1: felt this way. I've said this fears Michael. There's a
- 47:21Speaker 1: scene in one of the and I know the old
- 47:22Speaker 1: ones are better, but there's a scene it's from like
- 47:25Speaker 1: the last or second last trailer of Halloween, where they
- 47:28Speaker 1: lock Michael in the basement. They put a bunch of
- 47:30Speaker 1: explosives down there, they set the house on fire, and
- 47:33Speaker 1: as they're pulling away, like there's no reason you should
- 47:36Speaker 1: get out of that. And as they're pulling away from
- 47:38Speaker 1: the house, what do they see in the rear view mirror.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Michael's standing in a door with a chainsaw. That is
- 47:42Speaker 1: Tom Brady. Josh Allen can be like Freddy Krueger or something.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Okay, both Bills games are gonna be tough. But you
- 47:51Speaker 2: described one as a coin flip, but you're just not
- 47:54Speaker 2: calling I can't call it a coin flip when Josh
- 47:56Speaker 2: Allen's in the game. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I
- 47:59Speaker 2: can't call it a.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Coin if the quarterback is Drake May. Drake May is awesome,
- 48:04Speaker 1: but it's only been one year. I'm gonna have to
- 48:06Speaker 1: see Drake May do it again.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I've seen Josh Allen be a top three, top one
- 48:10Speaker 2: MVP quarterback in the NFL since twenty twenty. It's twenty
- 48:14Speaker 2: twenty six. We've had five years, six years of Josh
- 48:17Speaker 2: Allen playing at this level. Can we give Drake have
- 48:20Speaker 2: Drake May do it again before we put him in
- 48:23Speaker 2: that category.
- 48:23Speaker 3: I think this is disrespectful to Drake May.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Okay, then fine, it's disrespectful to Drake May.
- 48:29Speaker 1: All right, here's my other So here's what I had
- 48:33Speaker 1: in the like. So again my coin flips the real
- 48:36Speaker 1: point game. Just can't help yourself.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I think it's a nine.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I think after they split last year to say no,
- 48:44Speaker 1: it's still the Bills. The Builds are still in the
- 48:46Speaker 1: driver's seat. The Bills are the better team. That's what
- 48:48Speaker 1: you're saying. If it's not coin flip, because because isn't
- 48:53Speaker 1: their chance evenly matched game.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Everybody's talking about it all off season. Like the Patriot,
- 49:00Speaker 2: it's had an easy schedule. Last year they ran through it.
- 49:03Speaker 2: They ran to the Super Bowl, but they have to
- 49:06Speaker 2: replicate it. You have to do it again. The Bills
- 49:08Speaker 2: have done it again and again for five six.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Easy schedule included a win in Buffalo, and they had
- 49:14Speaker 1: a twenty one point lead at home. Admittedly they blew it,
- 49:16Speaker 1: but you hope with the year of experience they get better.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And a coin flip means an evenly matched game. It
- 49:20Speaker 1: means it's fifty to fifty if you don't have the
- 49:22Speaker 1: Bills game and that and that can factor in things
- 49:24Speaker 1: like home field advantage, short week, things like that. If
- 49:27Speaker 1: you don't have one of the Bills games in there,
- 49:29Speaker 1: it means you don't either you don't think it's an
- 49:31Speaker 1: evenly an even matchup, and that the Bills are better,
- 49:34Speaker 1: or for whatever reason you think that hosting Buffalo on
- 49:39Speaker 1: a Sunday afternoon on a regular length week, I guess
- 49:43Speaker 1: a little short because of Sunday night football is like
- 49:45Speaker 1: some brutal spot. That's basically what you're saying.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Okay, so I'll finish it at this and then we
- 49:51Speaker 2: should we should move on. Okay. I think that there's
- 49:54Speaker 2: a chance that we get to what you say, it's
- 49:56Speaker 2: week fourteen, right fourteen, Week thirteen. I think there's a
- 50:02Speaker 2: chance that we get to that game and it's not
- 50:04Speaker 2: as hard as it looks, because I think there's a
- 50:06Speaker 2: chance that the Patriots proved to me and prove to
- 50:09Speaker 2: everybody that they have staying power that last year wasn't
- 50:13Speaker 2: about the schedule, and it wasn't about the breaks that
- 50:15Speaker 2: they got along the way.
- 50:17Speaker 6: Like I, I.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Understand that narrative frustrates people, but at the end of
- 50:22Speaker 2: the day, we have to acknowledge it because the Patriots
- 50:25Speaker 2: could be a team that beat up on a bad
- 50:27Speaker 2: schedule last year a little bit. But I so if
- 50:29Speaker 2: we get to week thirteen and the Patriots are ten
- 50:32Speaker 2: and two or nine and three, even go, you know whatever,
- 50:36Speaker 2: they have a winning record, whatever you want to put
- 50:38Speaker 2: it at, and then they're going up against the Bills
- 50:40Speaker 2: at home. I'm gonna say the Patriots should win this game.
- 50:43Speaker 2: They should be favored in this game. But until I
- 50:45Speaker 2: see the Patriots prove to me that they are a
- 50:48Speaker 2: sustainable winner under Mike frand you're here.
- 50:52Speaker 6: To do that.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I could just as easily do that game with the Bills,
- 50:56Speaker 1: who knows what kind of head coach. Only the only
- 51:00Speaker 1: the only thing you can do that is with the
- 51:01Speaker 1: coach no, you can do it with more than a
- 51:03Speaker 1: coach who's allan throwing to.
- 51:07Speaker 2: I'm not entirely sure who did he throw to last year.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I'm not it might be worse. I'm not entirely sure
- 51:13Speaker 1: that Dj Moore is an upgrade over Brandon Cooks. I'm
- 51:16Speaker 1: not entirely sure of that. You have an offensive line
- 51:18Speaker 1: that was dealing with injuries last year, is a year older,
- 51:21Speaker 1: especially their left tackle, who there were some.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Retirement rumblings about this offseason.
- 51:25Speaker 1: How does James cook look after a year where he
- 51:28Speaker 1: had to carry the offense. We know running backs struggle
- 51:31Speaker 1: to have big years like that back to back, and
- 51:33Speaker 1: they lost a number, albeit older, of key veteran communicators
- 51:37Speaker 1: on defense. To act like the Patriots have to answer
- 51:40Speaker 1: all these questions because they had an easy schedule last
- 51:43Speaker 1: year and the Buffalo Bills are just going to sleep
- 51:45Speaker 1: walk their way to thirteen or fourteen wins. Again, that's
- 51:49Speaker 1: just not being intellectually consistent. I'm not saying the Patriots
- 51:53Speaker 1: don't have questions. I'm saying the Bills questions and go
- 51:55Speaker 1: punch for punch with the Patriots. It's a coin flip.
- 51:58Speaker 1: It's a coin flip. Who has the tougher questions. It's
- 52:01Speaker 1: a coin flip. You're giving entirely too much credit.
- 52:04Speaker 3: To the Buffalo Bills.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Josh Josh Allen has proved he can be more sustainable.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I will give you that.
- 52:13Speaker 2: I also just like, because you hate Buffalo, it is
- 52:17Speaker 2: a what have you done for they have great wings?
- 52:20Speaker 1: It is a what have you done for me?
- 52:22Speaker 3: They're fine?
- 52:23Speaker 1: It is a what have you done for me lately?
- 52:25Speaker 3: League?
- 52:25Speaker 1: And the Bills regressed last year and then botched a
- 52:28Speaker 1: coaching change.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Okay, So on the coaching because I I I agree
- 52:33Speaker 2: with that point. For you, that's a good point you're making.
- 52:37Speaker 2: I'll give you that. On the coaching, there's a chance
- 52:39Speaker 2: that Joe Brady can't coach, head, coach a team. I
- 52:41Speaker 2: think you can coordinate. There's a chance he can.
- 52:43Speaker 1: So you admit these are two different things. Yes, okay,
- 52:46Speaker 1: that's a point for me in another argument. Continue, Okay,
- 52:48Speaker 1: I admit that that that is true. Okay, but I
- 52:52Speaker 1: don't the batching the coaching change. Like we we both
- 52:55Speaker 1: agree that they needed to move on from McDermott. It
- 52:57Speaker 1: was time like that wasn't gonna work. So what were
- 52:59Speaker 1: they supposed because the culture wasn't there. They couldn't win
- 53:02Speaker 1: in the playoffs, right, they were supposed to go outside
- 53:04Speaker 1: the organization.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Okay, So I think that, Okay, I think that. To me,
- 53:12Speaker 2: Brian Dable, the only advantage Brian Dable had was that
- 53:15Speaker 2: he failed as the Giants head coach, so like he
- 53:17Speaker 2: has a little bit of sideline experience as a head coach.
- 53:20Speaker 2: But like, I think both those guys are offensive, you know,
- 53:25Speaker 2: play callers on the offensive side of the ball. That
- 53:27Speaker 2: worked with Josh Allen. And my guess is that Josh
- 53:30Speaker 2: Allen really likes Joe Brady. Now should he be doing
- 53:33Speaker 2: the hiring. Probably not, But that's just the gods honest truth. Look,
- 53:37Speaker 2: people are gonna side with you on this one, I
- 53:39Speaker 2: can already tell. But I just like to rye you
- 53:41Speaker 2: up because of the Bills. And I also just think
- 53:43Speaker 2: the Bills are a little bit better than you do.
- 53:46Speaker 2: You're right though, they have some concerns and there's a
- 53:48Speaker 2: chance that Buffalo has a really bad year. Like by
- 53:51Speaker 2: their standards, I don't think they're ever going to totally
- 53:53Speaker 2: stink with tea. Yeah, but well they can't be five hundred,
- 53:57Speaker 2: but I do hate that they do. They go eight nine.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Do they you know, do they have a true down
- 54:02Speaker 2: year like Kansas City had last year?
- 54:04Speaker 6: Right?
- 54:04Speaker 2: And I know Kansas City it made got made worse
- 54:07Speaker 2: because that Mahomes got.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Hurt and they were out of the playoffs before Mahomes
- 54:09Speaker 3: got hurt.
- 54:10Speaker 2: But but it got it really went downhill when that happened.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Speaking of Mahomes, I still have at Kansas City as
- 54:16Speaker 2: a tough one. I I have a lot of the
- 54:19Speaker 2: same concerns. Are the same questions that you have about
- 54:22Speaker 2: the bills I have about Kansas City.
- 54:24Speaker 1: So so you'll admit these things are real, just not
- 54:27Speaker 1: for your team up in Buffalo correct ridiculous.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Mostly just to annoy you. I think that the Kansas
- 54:33Speaker 2: City Chiefs roster still doesn't wow me. And Mahomes coming
- 54:41Speaker 2: off the ACL it sounds like he certainly sounds like
- 54:44Speaker 2: he's gonna be ready for when they played the Patriots. Oh,
- 54:47Speaker 2: the NFL is counting on him being ready week one, Like,
- 54:50Speaker 2: we'll see if that happens. But I'm not one hundred
- 54:54Speaker 2: percent sold yet on this Kansas City team. Andy Reid
- 54:57Speaker 2: last year felt like a guy that was on the
- 55:02Speaker 2: late Belichick watch list right, Like was he starting to
- 55:05Speaker 2: lose his fastball a little bit. Just from an offensive
- 55:09Speaker 2: innovation standpoint, they didn't really have a lot of answers
- 55:12Speaker 2: even with the healthy Mahomes. I didn't think they really
- 55:15Speaker 2: did a lot. Now there are some rumblings around them
- 55:19Speaker 2: that they could put their hat in the AJ Brown
- 55:21Speaker 2: Sweeve Steakes when it really comes the rubber meets the
- 55:24Speaker 2: road with that, but I still am not wowed by
- 55:27Speaker 2: their skill talent. Like Travis Kelty coming back a year
- 55:31Speaker 2: older doesn't really move me all that much after how
- 55:35Speaker 2: he looked for most of the year last year, Mahomes
- 55:38Speaker 2: coming off a major injury. Their big off season addition
- 55:41Speaker 2: was Kenneth Walker, so they added a running back, which
- 55:43Speaker 2: you know how I feel about that, right. I think
- 55:46Speaker 2: they'll be pretty good on defense, as they have been
- 55:49Speaker 2: the last couple of years. But even defensively, they traded
- 55:53Speaker 2: Trent McDuffie. I don't know why, Like, why did you
- 55:55Speaker 2: do that? And then Chris Jones also was kind of
- 55:58Speaker 2: in that Travis Kelsey category of I don't know if
- 56:03Speaker 2: he's still got as much left in the tank as
- 56:04Speaker 2: he did before. Same thing about Reid is Mahomes the
- 56:08Speaker 2: same guy. I was really tempted to put Kansas City
- 56:12Speaker 2: in a lower tier here because I really don't believe
- 56:15Speaker 2: in the Chiefs this year. But that being said, it's
- 56:19Speaker 2: still Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, it's still Arrowhead. That is a really,
- 56:23Speaker 2: really difficult environment to play in. So I came out
- 56:27Speaker 2: in the wash to this being a tough game on
- 56:29Speaker 2: their schedule. But I still kind of feel like maybe
- 56:33Speaker 2: Kansas City has another down year in them, And if
- 56:36Speaker 2: they do, I really wonder what happens in Kansas City.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Obviously Mahomes isn't going anywhere, right, But if they have
- 56:42Speaker 2: another down year, is Andy Reid kind of running out
- 56:45Speaker 2: of gas?
- 56:46Speaker 9: You know?
- 56:46Speaker 2: And Travis Kelcey certainly looks like he's running out of gas?
- 56:49Speaker 2: Where did you have the Chiefs?
- 56:51Speaker 1: Maybe we can come to an agreement on the chiefs,
- 56:53Speaker 1: because clearly we can't agree on the bills, I don't think.
- 56:55Speaker 1: So why you go through the rest of as I
- 56:56Speaker 1: go through the rest of mine, Because having different categories
- 56:58Speaker 1: kind of screws it up.
- 57:00Speaker 2: True, I probably should have stuck with your categories. I
- 57:01Speaker 2: didn't like them.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Didn't like categories, well because you didn't. You didn't understand
- 57:06Speaker 1: them clearly. So for the probably a lost games. These
- 57:10Speaker 1: are the ones where it's like you could steal one.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Weirder things have happened, But I don't like the spot.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah I had at Detroit in Germany.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Detroit. It's a good team. They're, you know, looking to
- 57:20Speaker 3: bounce back after aggressing year ago.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Just the Patriot. I know it's different coaches, but the
- 57:24Speaker 1: Patriots history the last few years in Europe. Maybe that's
- 57:26Speaker 1: weighing on me too much.
- 57:29Speaker 2: And some of the things the.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Lions do well, their ground game, their pass rush matchup
- 57:33Speaker 1: well with questions about the Patriots. I think that's a
- 57:35Speaker 1: tough spot. Week seventeen versus the Broncos I have is
- 57:40Speaker 1: a tough one. It's not in Denver, Alex still tough game,
- 57:43Speaker 1: it's it's so much easier, no, and not being in
- 57:45Speaker 1: Denver because it's not the Broncos breathe when I was there.
- 57:50Speaker 1: The Broncos are not a team that's going to be
- 57:52Speaker 1: impacted by like because Week seventeen. They're not a team
- 57:54Speaker 1: that's gonna come up here late and struggle with the
- 57:56Speaker 1: cold or whatever's going on.
- 57:57Speaker 3: They're gonna be used to that rematch Nfcampionship game. They
- 58:01Speaker 3: played in a.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Much tougher division. That game is gonna have a lot
- 58:03Speaker 1: of meeting for them one way or the other. I
- 58:05Speaker 1: think that's a really tough spot. And then Week seven
- 58:08Speaker 1: at the Bears, I have as their fourth toughest game.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Being the road team on a Thursday night is never easy,
- 58:15Speaker 1: and I think preparing for all the whoopsie do of
- 58:18Speaker 1: that offense on a short week when you don't see
- 58:21Speaker 1: that team regularly it's an NFC team, is gonna be
- 58:24Speaker 1: very difficult.
- 58:24Speaker 3: That's one where I fire.
- 58:26Speaker 2: You admitting that Ben Johnson's a good.
- 58:29Speaker 3: For one game not I'm not. Yeah, he's a good
- 58:32Speaker 3: offensive coordinator.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I've never set he's the offense coordinator side if Ben
- 58:35Speaker 1: John's is gonna have a chance to show up there.
- 58:38Speaker 1: And I just hate the Thursday night road team in general.
- 58:41Speaker 1: That's when I wanted to put as a coin flip,
- 58:43Speaker 1: but again, having to go there on a Thursday night,
- 58:47Speaker 1: that's a really tough spot.
- 58:48Speaker 3: I don't like that spot for the Patriots. And then
- 58:51Speaker 3: my hardest of the hard climbing up the.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Mountain games, this is if you could steal one of these,
- 58:56Speaker 1: that's great. At Buffalo, I know they won their last year,
- 58:59Speaker 1: but that game is the Bill's super Bowl after the
- 59:02Speaker 1: Patriots passed them, which they did, Yes, they did, they
- 59:04Speaker 1: passed them. The Patriots passed them in the offseason. They
- 59:07Speaker 1: won the last season, they won the division. They won
- 59:09Speaker 1: the sas the Patriots passed them. Last season they won
- 59:11Speaker 1: the division. They won their last year in the final
- 59:13Speaker 1: game at Old Time Mark. It's a stadium that the
- 59:16Speaker 1: Patriots storically owns. So here you go, fresh slate, first time.
- 59:19Speaker 1: The Patriots are coming into the new building after stealing
- 59:22Speaker 1: the division, snatching their chain last year. That is the
- 59:25Speaker 1: Bill's super Bowl, at least at home. They do not
- 59:28Speaker 1: play a more, especially if you think Kansas City's gonna
- 59:30Speaker 1: regress because they go to Denver for the playoff reing match,
- 59:33Speaker 1: but the Bills do. That is, if you pulled Bills fans,
- 59:36Speaker 1: what is the one game that means the most for
- 59:38Speaker 1: them to win at home in the new stadium. This
- 59:40Speaker 1: is it that you were going to get the Bills
- 59:42Speaker 1: best punch in that game, the team and the fans.
- 59:44Speaker 1: I have the Chiefs in the Climbing the Mountain game.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I do because I think that you're going to get
- 59:52Speaker 1: even if Mahomes isn't back to start the season. By
- 59:54Speaker 1: Week fifteen, it's a year and a week exactly from
- 59:59Speaker 1: the injury. You're probably gonna get mahomes best punch in
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: that game.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I also, I'm less worried about Mahomes's best punch in
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: terms of the Chiefs week fifteen. I just don't know
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: where the Chiefs are going to be. So I here's
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: the thing.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I think they're going to regress a little bit. I
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: still think they're going to be competitive. That might be
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: like make or break it into the playoffs for them.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: That is going to be going into Arrowhead in prime
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: time with the Chiefs needing that game to keep their
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: playoff hopes alive. And then I'll add to it, and
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: maybe I'm doing a little too much psychoanalysis here. Mahomes
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: was on the other side of how many of these
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: games where it was him versus Brady, and he had
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: to hear it played off as the historical significance two
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: great quarterbacks, the first Mahomes May game. And I'm not
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: saying May is going to become Mahomes, but he is.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: It's a different generation of quarterbacks. Mahomes is no longer
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: than that young quarterback generation. And it's this game could
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: have significant historical implications for the debate among the quarterback position.
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: I think Mahomes understands that.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I think this is a gate having gone through with Brady,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I think this is if he has one or two
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: left in him to just single handedly will the team
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: to win. I think it's this. And then the hardest
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: game on the Patriots schedule for me is the first.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: You gotta go out there. It is still short of
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: a short week, even though it's Week one, which sucks
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: because when you go from roster cuts to this, like
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: you have a little less time. You know, watch him
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: raise the banner. It's an East Coast team going west.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: The defending Super Bowl champion has won this game for
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: the last six years in his seventeen and four all
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: time in this spot.
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Again, just hate, hate, hate that spot for the Patriots.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Okay, so we have a lot of the other same
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: games other than the Bills being split for you at
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Seattle easily the toughest game on the schedule. I don't
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: think that's debatable. Yeah, at Kansas City, I still think
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: it is a tough game, but I just pulled it
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: up because I wanted to be sure. You want to
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: hear Kansas City's wide receiver. Yeah, great, Taekwan Thornton, Yeap,
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Xavier Worthy, Yeah, Rashi RII with whatever is gonna happen
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: with Rushi Rice, Jalen Royals, and Cyrus Allen who they
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: just drafted in the fifth round.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: Yeah, then whatever's left the Travis Kelsey tighten.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: And whatever's left the Travis Kelcey at tight end, and
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: then Kenneth Walker I mentioned they signed as a free
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: agent at running back. That ain't great. Like it's really
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: not very good. And you're expecting Mahomes to come off
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: in ACL and come back and just kind of turn
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: water into wine with that group. You know, their offensive
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: line still got talent, but there's no more Joe Tooney
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: there right, So, like it's not a great offensive line either.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I would have a lot of concerns about Kansas City
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: that may be tempted. It made me tempted the other
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: team that I was really tempted with, and we you know,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I was hoping that we could argue about this a
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: little bit too, the Detroit Lions. Like, I don't know
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: what the Detroit Lions. It's a tough spot.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I frankly, if it was in Detroit, I probably would
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: have put them in that second category in that you know, yeah,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: climbing a mountain. The fact it's a neutral site game
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: that's going to impact them to.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: That's a tough game. Yeah.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I think what I actually went through and did my
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: exercis that is a loss. I don't think it's quite
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: on the level as some of those others because I
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: think the game being played in Europe naturally. I mean, look,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: the Jets almost beat the Broncos over there last year.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Ye.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I just think playing internationally is a natural somewhat, not completely,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: but it does level the playing field, does even things
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: out because it's a major variable that both teams have
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: to deal with. So with the Lions, I think it's
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: a big breakoun it's technically a neutral site game.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: It's it's yeah, it's neutral. It is a neutral site game.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I wouldn't call it technically a Lions home game, yeah,
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: but it is a neutral site game. It is a
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: break that they don't have to play in Detroit.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: But the alternative is going to Europe, which is a
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: pain in the ass in its own right. It's just
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: a different okay, but I wouldn't say it's a break.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: It's having to go into Detroit.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: No, you do not have to go to another country.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Okay, but that's a neutral sight, Alex. You're gonna Detroit
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: is one of the hardest places to play. Makes it
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: makes like the Adam arrowhead Detroit.
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: Okay, it makes so.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Now now you care about home field advantage all of
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: a sudden, you don't care about the one that's scientifically
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: prove and in December and Denver.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: All right, way to be consistent.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: But it makes the game itself difficult. It's it would
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: be hard if it makes the weak, the planning, the
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: preparation harder.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: It's an offset you you the game would be harder
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: in Detroit than it is gonna.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Be game itself. Is the entire process that weak easier
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: or harder because it's in Germany, it is harder to
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: win the game. It's a different kind of challenge. I
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: don't think it's easier harder.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Is it harder to win the game in Munich? Or
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: is it harder to win the game in Detroit?
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: From when the ball is just just which game is
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: easier to win from when the ball is snapped? It's
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: easier to be in Munich. The thing is, are you
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: going to be able to prepare the way you want
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: to prepare, dealing with all the extra.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: Stuff that comes with going.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: You give the Patriots to use your own Do you
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: give the Patriots a better chance to win the game
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: in Munich or win the game? It really doesn't.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Detroit really doesn't change it for me. I think it's
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: just a different challenge, That's what I'm saying.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I think it's easier in Munich. The other thing that
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: I would just say about the line, I've always kind
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: of thought Dan Campbell was a little bit overrated. Now
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I've got him totally on fraud watch as a head coach.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Is it.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: I think there's a very good chance that Ben Johnson
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: was the real brains of that operation in Detroit when
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: he was their offensive coordinator. As example of what he
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: did in Chicago in his first year as the head
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: coach and where the Lions went without him, so they
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: hired Drew Pettsing as their offensive coordinator because Dan Campbell's
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: plan last year went completely haywire to the point where
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: he had to put the byfocals on and call the
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: plays himself by the end of the year. I like
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Drew Petsing. I think he did some things in Arizona,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: especially in the run game that I liked, but I
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: still don't know if that's a great hire or not.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Kelvin Sheppard was a little bit better as their defensive coordinator,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: like that one wasn't quite as much of a step
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: down from Aaron Glenn to Calvin Sheppard. But the whole
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Dan Campbell thing in Detroit without Ben Johnson last year
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: over one right, Like, they didn't look good. So I
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: was tempted to move that one down to but I didn't.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: I left it up there because in all likelihood, Detroit
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: probably has a bounce back year. I think I'd probably
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: put more of it of the odds that bounce back
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: year for Detroit than another bad one. But I think
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: another one bad one is possible. Okay, there's a schedule.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: You all can blob me after the break about being
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: so stubborn about the Bills. I think Alex is actually
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: the stubborn one against the Bills. I think I'm the
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: one that.

- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Patty and Agua.
- 1:10:19Speaker 11: What's up Patty, Hey, good afternoon, guys, great show as always.
- 1:10:24Speaker 11: I love how you guys just like get into it.
- 1:10:27Speaker 11: Just about the schedule and what do you think is
- 1:10:29Speaker 11: going to be the toughest games. I did have a
- 1:10:32Speaker 11: few questions that I wanted to throw up there to
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: you guys. The first one is, Evan, do you have
- 1:10:39Speaker 11: any inkling about when the training camp practices are going
- 1:10:43Speaker 11: to start? Because I'm hoping, hoping to do what I
- 1:10:46Speaker 11: did last year, which is go to the first Saturday
- 1:10:48Speaker 11: and then and the joint practice against the Eagles.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Wait, what was the question again, Patty? Sorry, we got
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: any camp it. We got some banging outside. It's gonna
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: be yeah, same. Was it Wednesday or Thursday? I think
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: it always because they do the thing now where all
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: the teams start at the same time.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: This started trading camp.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Yeah, do they start early because oh no, you start
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: early for the Hall of Fame.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it's usually like the week of like the
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: twenty second, I think, is that Wednesday, the twenty third,
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: like somewhere around there. Is usually the very first day.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: But remember that the first day of trading camp is
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: not padded right like, so it's not they're not truly
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: live contact yet until the ramp up period, which takes
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: five days. So usually the first padded practices until like
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Sunday or Monday of that following week. Yeah, all right, cool.
- 1:11:37Speaker 11: And I just wanted to say, like, the one thing
- 1:11:40Speaker 11: that scares me about about the Bills this year and
- 1:11:43Speaker 11: going forward, not necessarily like them winning a Super Bowl.
- 1:11:47Speaker 11: And I'll get into that in a second, but I
- 1:11:50Speaker 11: really do like Skyler Bell and you guys know how
- 1:11:53Speaker 11: much else pumping is hires pre draft. You know, I
- 1:11:58Speaker 11: think more might have lost, but they're gonna be a
- 1:12:01Speaker 11: tough game, Alex. Like both games. I would say they're
- 1:12:05Speaker 11: both kind of in the coin flip territory just because
- 1:12:09Speaker 11: of what they did last year. I mean, you can
- 1:12:12Speaker 11: argue that the Patriots roster is a lot more deep
- 1:12:14Speaker 11: this year, and if they end up trading for a
- 1:12:17Speaker 11: J Brown or you know, my dream is that he
- 1:12:21Speaker 11: goes to Jacksonville, he gets traded in Jacksonville and we
- 1:12:24Speaker 11: trade for BPJ. But that's that's the story for another day.
- 1:12:29Speaker 11: I think they're gonna be, you know, it's gonna be
- 1:12:31Speaker 11: the passing the bills, because let the face of the
- 1:12:33Speaker 11: Jets and the Dolphins suck, they're probably going to so,
- 1:12:35Speaker 11: I mean the Jets will suck for all eternity, but
- 1:12:40Speaker 11: making any noise. But Evan, I know from listening to
- 1:12:44Speaker 11: Peu over the last few weeks that you're you look
- 1:12:46Speaker 11: fancy yourself as somewhat of a conspiracy theorist. Have you
- 1:12:49Speaker 11: ever watched the X files or have you ever gone
- 1:12:52Speaker 11: back and like watched any of the X files?
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: I have nine. Thanks for the call, Patty, we appreciate it.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: I have not.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: I'm on that that's like was a little bit before
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: our time. I X files, but aware of it, but
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: maybe like a little bit of a conspiracy guy. I
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: I don't do that. I don't look into it as
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: much anymore as I used to. But I had a
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: like a phase, you know, where I was like going
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: down a lot of rabbit holes.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: Like watching Zekeeist every weekend.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, like Elvis the moon Landing, JFK. Tupac, like,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: you know, you just kind of what about the Beatles.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: There's the one about Paul McCartney.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: Yeah, he's a fake. Paul mccartny is not really Paul McCartney.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: It's Paul McCartney.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: We think that he that he's the current one is fake.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: How did you have a conspiracy theory phase and not
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: go down Paul is dead, Paul's dead.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Rabbit hole just didn't So, I.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Don't know, I forget the whole thing if you want to.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: It's it's it, you go down and it John Lennon's did, yes.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: For real though, I think this is so.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: I think that the theory is it was before John
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Lennon died, right, yeah, yeah, it would be like McCartney died.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: I think it's like in a cart rash or something.
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: They died in the car crash, and they replaced him
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: because the world wouldn't be able to handle Paul mccartny
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: being dead, like there would be pandemonium, so they replaced
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: him with a look alike.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I thought it would be Supposedly there's all these clues
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: about their way, the way they're standing on the cover
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: of certain albums and like if you is it, I
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: am the Walrus. There's one Beatles song that if you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: play it backwards, supposedly you hear Paul is dead.
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, I can't remember exactly what one is, but yeah,
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: that's the when they used to play records backwards.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: And so there's all there's all these.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Clues supposedly about them replacing Paul McCartney. Yeah, like on
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: the on the cover of Abbey Road, I think like
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: he's the only one that isn't wearing shoes or something. Okay,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Revolution nine is the one.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: We went to the Abbey Road when we were in
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: London two years ago, and it's like very much a
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: not a great to just like stop traffic. Like it's
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: like a pretty busy road. There's the Beatles, you know,
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: and like so people but people go there to take picture,
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: to take the Beatles picture, and so like every like
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: a couple of minutes there's just a mob of people
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: just standing in the middle of a road that is
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: like there's no stoplight, there's no stop Yeah, it's it's
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: literally just like a regular road and like people just
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: stop traffic and hold up traffic to take a picture there.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: It was very bizarre. I thought it would be like
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: more organized, you know, like they would know that that
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: was happening, so they would like try to organize it. Now,
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: I never wrote down the Paul McCartney road, but I
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: really it's a major one. I'm surprised it was more
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: of like moon landing Elvis.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: So this is very similar to like the Elvis and
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: jfk Ones.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was more of my my my slant,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: like you know, the moon landing. I'm still you know,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: I have questions. You know, Uh, Alex and pa emails
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: in Alex is one hundred percent right on the Bills, Evan.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: If the spread is very close, that means it is
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: a very even matchup. In order for Evan to claim
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: the Bills, games are both less than coin flips, the
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Bills must be clear favorites going into the game. It's
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: a travesy. You think the Pats don't have a very
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: good chance to win since they won in Buffalo All
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Capitals last year and we're up twenty one to nothing
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: at home. So maybe I will concede that in the
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: exercise as it was designed. Yeah, you it doesn't make
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: sense to say both games are tough games. I just
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: think as a football person, both games are tough games exactly.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Coin flip is a tough game. I don't know why
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: you don't think a game where it's evenly matched is
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: a tough game. Like that's not a game that's evenly matched.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: You gotta win on the margins. You gotta do little
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: things right. That's not easy to win. The other side
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: of that is the games that you are more likely
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: to lose. If a game is less than a coin flip,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: you're more.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Likely to lose.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: It's just the definition of how it's how words work.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: I don't know if I can explain it any clearer
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: than that. So and I'll get the game in Buffalo
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: that's less than a coin flip. There's a lot the
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Patriots have to do to win that game. I think
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: that is a very difficult spot. That is a hard game. Okay,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the game here late in the season. Who knows where
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: the Bills will be at that should be a coin
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I'd be disappointed if that game is not a coin flip.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Are the Bills?
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Maybe? What were the Bills favored by last year? When
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I think they were favored in that game, right, it
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: was like maybe a point.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Point both of them.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Well, but the first one we like the Patriots had established.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Them something that was there coming out part of.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I'll look at what if the Bills are favored by
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: a point maybe as a coin flip.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: To me, that is one of the most fun regular
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: season games I've ever covered and ever attended was the
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: game in Buffalo last year. It was awesome, great football game,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: came down to the wire, huge statement win.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: And then your team lost and you were crushed.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: The locker room was as.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: It was bumping as almost as it was when they
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: won the playoff games. To be honest with you, like
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: that the place was now.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: A lot of that I think had to do with
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: with Digs and it being kind of a revenge game
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: for Digs, But in general, it was just it was
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: a fun night. It was a it was a really
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: fun night. They were over the moon about that game. Uh.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Rodrigo emails in and he actually thinks that at the.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: Time the Bills were were minus one and a half
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: okay for that game, So that's a that's about it.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: That's a coin flip.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: At one point here or there, it's a coin flip.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: Well, you know, you get two for being the home team.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: So they really thought the Bills are gonna win by
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: like a field goal.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: They on a neutral field. It was not a neutral field.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: It was here.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: Rodrigo emails in and he says that he actually thinks
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: that the early, the first Bills game is an easier
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: game for the Patriots. So the game in Buffalo, because
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: they have a new coach and they might not be
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: all you know, they're what continuity or whatever you want
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: to call it. They might not be up to speed yet. Now.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: I think the one reason, not the one reason, but
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: a big reason why they promoted from within with Joe
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Brady was to seamlessly transition. Like if they had gone
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: maybe not Brian Dable, but if they had gone completely
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: outside of their tree, then I would have been I
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: could see what Rodrigo is saying a little bit more.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: I think that they purposely picked the guy that was
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: going to.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: Kind of yeah, I just think that's that game is
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: the bit. That's that's the game you circle on the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: calendar if you're the Bills. That's the big one. They
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: took your chain last year, like you're gonna get Buffo's
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: best punch but if Joe Brady's a mess, that opens
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: the door for sure.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So a lot of questions obviously about AJ Brown.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: You want to do a quick AJ Brown reset of
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: where your AJ Brown thoughts are now on May twentieth
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: as we record this podcast. So at four o'clock on
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: June first, that was so, I mean, I believe it's
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: four o'clock on June first, and I think that Mike
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Reeese confirmed that in his Sunday Notes last week. So
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: I had heard that that was it, but I wasn't
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: one hundred and ten percent on it. So I think
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: that that's the the day that it becomes turn page
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: right now, it's because then it will be on the
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: transaction wire for June second, right, so it has to
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: be after the first.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Deal has to be The deal cannot be official until
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: June second.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Correct, So they could announce it as early as four
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: one on June.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Because now the June first wire is cleared.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: In y So we are what eleven twelve days? Right,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: there's thirty one days in May, so there we are
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: were twenty days, Yeah, there's twelve days away from this.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Have you have your thoughts and feelings? It all changed
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: on AJ Brown. I know, in my opinion, I think
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: there's a lot of and I don't have any reporting myself,
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: and this is just my opinion. My opinion is that
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: this is a saga that generates clicks, that generates content
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: for this time of year. So a lot of these insiders,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: all of a sudden, Jacksonville is involved, and maybe Kansas
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: City will be involved, and maybe the Rams will get
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: back involved. To me, that's a lot of fodder at
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: this point in time. I still think they all say
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: that in their answers and they come back down to
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: but really the only team involved is the Patriots, right,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: you know, but they try to throw out all these
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: different possibilities. Where are you at with aj Brown as
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: of today?
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Still the same? I mean, I really think you stare
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: if it doesn't get down on June first to four
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: to one pm or whenever, Like I'd spend a couple
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: of weeks staring Howie Roseman down, Yeah, and like, all right,
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: bring me to camp. Here's this twenty twenty seven second
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: bring me to camp if you want more than that,
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: and like maybe that changes down the road, But if
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: there really are no other teams in on it, I
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: hate for the Patriots give up a first, even if
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: it's in twenty twenty eight, and if it becomes okay,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: it's a second that becomes a first. If the Patriots
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: make the playoffs, that's five talking like an unprotected no
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: qualifiers first round pick. I'd hate for them to give
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: that up. But if it's twenty eight pick and that's
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: ultimately what it takes to get it done, I just
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: think after the season Drake May just had, you cannot
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: come back, and I think they're probably on par maybe
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: a little worse at wide receiver, tiny tiny bit than
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: they were last year because you're just counting on more
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: from Romeo Dobbs. You haven't seen him do. He's a
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: young guy.
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: He should get better, but it's not tangible.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: You cannot be as good or less than a wide
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: receiver around Drake May after what he gave you last year.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: So if it is a twenty twenty eight first, so
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: be it.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Just know that probably means they're trading back next year
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: in order to recoup some of the value. But if
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: they can get it, I still would like to see
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: them hold out and get it done for a second
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: round pick.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: And again, like, how are you gonna bring him in
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: a camp.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: So are you twenty twenty seven second round pick or
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: a twenty twenty eight first, twenty seven second, twenty seven second,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: So you just don't want to get up a first.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: I think that's easier to recoup in the trade down
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: or something like that. Yeah, okay, I would do a
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: twenty eight first. I would not do twenty seven first,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: just with what this draft could be. But the twenty
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: seven first, to me is option the table. And I
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: still again, if you make it conditional, even if the
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: twenty seven first, I would do conditionally because if it's
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: the twenty whatever pick, fine, whatever. I just want some protection,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Like if there's a bunch of injuries and suddenly they're
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: picking top ten this unbelievable draft. I don't think ours
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: going to be that bad, but if there's injuries and
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: things like that, so sure, that's the one spot, right,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: I'd like to see them protect themselves.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: Twenty eight first. I could live with that.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: That to me is like, and I've said this before
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: about them, I'm just just to be consistent, like Sprice
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: doing business. He's a hell of a player. You're not
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: going to get him for scraps. So I don't think
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: a second is scraps. I think a second is what's fair.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: It's just a gay it's gonna be a game of chicken.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: I don't think either is a ton of leverage, frankly,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: or maybe they both have leverage. It's the leverage is even.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: I don't think that one side needs this deal to
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: happen more than the other. The Patriots again are okay
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: at receiver Steph Diggs is still out there. You know,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: the Eagles, you know, have to get rid of them.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I guess in theory he's still a good player. You
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: could bring him back. It might be awkward, you could
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: bring him back. So I don't think either side is
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: more leverage over the other. It just becomes a staring contest.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: I would say that the Eagles might just have slightly
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: more leverage just because they have the player. And I
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: understand your point of they probably don't want or need
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: or like there's a logjam that's been created there sort
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: of thing. But in theory, the Eagles could go into
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: next season with Brown, DeVante Smith and mckaye Lemon and
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: mkayle Lemon is complimentary enough to the that would just
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: be sick right, Like there's a way to just.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Kind of make stuff Outsavian wis mixing n right.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: You know, he's your fourth guy and whatever. As for
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: the Patriots, it does feel like you I would say
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: you took a small step back at wide receiver if
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: you don't get aj Brown, because it's sort of like
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: I was talking about them as a team earlier. Until
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: we see Romeo Dobbs replicate Stefon Diggs's production, we don't
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: know if Romeo Dobbs can truly replicate Stefon Diggs's production.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: He might be eighty percent as good as Stefan Diggs,
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: which eight hundred yards instead of a thousand, and he's
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: younger and he's a little bit less of a headache,
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: which might end up being worth it right in the
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: long run. But we don't know yet if he can
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: replicate it. I was looking this up yesterday or the
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: day before. I don't think people quite realize how like
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: absolute bonkers it is. A Stefan Diggs caught eighty three
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: percent of the passes ever thrown to him last year,
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: eighty three percent, three percent completion rate throwing the ball
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: to Diggs last year, and even if.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: He takes out the ones at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: It's still like high seventies.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: It is absolutely insane. Eighty three percent is a ridiculously
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: efficiently high number. So in asking rome Dobbs to come
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: in and completely replace that, it's not quite Jacobe Myers
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: to Juju Smith Schuster because I think a little bit
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: more of Romeo Dobbs and I did a Juju ro health.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: I made that mistake though last time with that that swap, right,
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: I thought Juju would be better after the catch. I
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: thought Juju could replicate a lot of the same things
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: Jacobe Myers did could not have. That was probably one
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: of my worst takes of all time. Well, so I'm
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: not going to make I'm not gonna make that mistake twice.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Though you're getting younger, it's about you are getting younger.
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: I just that time, I really thought that Juju was
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: gonna be at least as good, if not better, And
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: I could not have been more wrong. Until you see
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: it with Romeo Dobbs, you can't make that assumption. So
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: if they only go into the season with Romeo Dobbs,
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: is they're only a one for one swap with the
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: fun Diggs. I say they got a little bit worse
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: at that position. So I do think that they I
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: don't know if I would go as far to say
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: that they like desperately need AJ Brown, But if they
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: really want to be a Super Bowl contender, again, I
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: think you kind of need AJ Brown. Now could they
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: pivot to digs right?
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: You need somebody. I don't think they need a J.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Brown.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: It could be caliber Brian Thomas Junior think come back.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I don't think so, but like they need somebody, but
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: it does not have to be AJ Brown.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: It has to be somebody of that ilk, of that tier,
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: of that caliber. Uh So for that reason, i'd be
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: I'd say the Patriots have a little bit less leverage,
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: so I would probably give up the twenty twenty when
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: I would give up the twenty twenty eight first. But
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: that's as much as I'm not doing that. I'm not
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: touching the pick and twenty twenty seven.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: I'd give up twenty eight first.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: That's it.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: I ultimately would do that, but I'd rather not the.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Thing I keep coming back to with it too, with
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: the twenty twenty eight first. Okay, let's say you have
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: a Commander season and you just have the year from
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: Hell and Drake May gets hurt and you just have
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: a horribly bad season, all right, You might just have
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: one of those years from hell in terms of injuries
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: and all that kind of stuff that might, you know,
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: push you back to the middle because last year you
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: were pretty lucky in terms of health. But that doesn't change.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: I don't really think like how we view the talent
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: of the young players on the roster, like I still
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: think they're on the up, right, Like I still think
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: the Commanders could bounce back very easily this year. So
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: what are the odds that the Patriots trading the twenty
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: twenty eight first for AJ Brown? Is not what are
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: the odds that Patriots take a step back this year?
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: It's what are the odds of Patriots take a step
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: back in twenty eight?
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: So, if you have a year from hell in twenty seven,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: are you really gonna come back in twenty eight and
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: still be bad? Like you're still there? Because then you're
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: gonna get You're gonna have a top pick in twenty
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: twenty seven, which everybody thinks is a great draft. You're
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: gonna have cap space again, you're gonna be doing the
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: whole thing all over again, right right, and you have
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: one more hole fell swoop. I just can't imagine this
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: team with Mike Rabel and Drake may being bad in
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: twenty twenty eight, because if they're bad in twenty twenty eight,
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: that means the thing is going the wrong way, which
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: I don't think any of us feel like it is.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: So that's why twenty twenty eight pick sort of dungc
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: cheeks or not, they're picking thirty second in twenty twenty eight.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Are we really all going to be too upset that
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: they gave it up for A J. Brown? No, So
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: that's how I look at that.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: This email is from Barton Poland he said, is it crazy?
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: And these are hard to do because like you have
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: to remember all the other teams rosters and stuff like that.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: But is it hard to Is it crazy to say
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: that if the Patriots get aj Brown, they would have
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: the second best wide receiver room in the AFC, only
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: behind Cincinnati. So I think everybody is an agreement then
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: Cincinnati probably has the best, right. Yeah, I would say
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: Denver now at Jalen Wattle has a very very good
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: one too.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: Houston's well, I guess it depends on health.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Houston is up there in theory, so you know, Denver
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Is Courtland and Jalen Wattle.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: And then kind of a competition between Troy Flanklan, Troy Flanklin,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: why can't say that name, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: Right like it is that third guy. I'd say Pat
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: Bryant probably wins that out in Houston. I guess if
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Tank Dell is healthy, Tank.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: Dell, Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, Jalen Nole.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the two Iowa State kids Jacksonville's you know to
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: BTJ and Theory, Jacobi Myers, Parker Washington, which isn't bad either.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: You know, obviously we know what they have in uh
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: Cincinnati with Higgins Chase and Yoshi vas Uh. He mentioned though,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: sneaky dark horse at the Jets with Garrett Wilson, Omar
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: Cooper Junior and Adanai Mitchell. I don't think that that's
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: quite in that upper echelon tier. It's maybe you're sick.
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: If Adie Mitchell could catch the ball.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: It might be like a sneaky good team. Yeah, right,
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: like a team that is on the up and come
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: uh And then you know Bill's d J. Moore, Josh Palmer,
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Khalil Sakur and no uh Ravens, Bateman, TZ Walker, Z
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: Flowers probably not. JA Blower's a good player, but you
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: know in uh CLEARLYND is probably the same category I'd
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: put them in as the Jets, like if Denzel Boston
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: and Casey Concepcion hit and there with Jerry Judy like
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: now you got you gotta you got a group, right,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: but you have to have those rookies hit. Pittsburgh, Metcalf, Pittman.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Bernard is not bad, but you need Bernard to hit. Yeah,
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: So I would say the Patriots A J. Brown, Romeo Dobbs,
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: you know, and then whatever Matt Collins, Kishon Boody, Kyle Williams,
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: whoever ends up being the third and fourth guys there?
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: Pretty good? Pretty good. What do you think happens with
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: Kishon Boody?
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: I think he gets traded.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I just don't see.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: He assuming they get a J.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Brown, right, Yeah, so a J. Brown is gonna basically
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: take over his role. So you have a guy it's
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: gonna be on a very reduced role, is in a
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: contract year. He's not gonna be happy about that because
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: he wants to play and get an opportunity to get paid. Also,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: are the Patriots really gonna pay him after trading a
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: first round pick for a J. Brown, And so you're
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: gonna hold on him for a year so you can
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: play like fifteen to twenty percent of the snaps and
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: then let him walk in free agency. And you know,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: if he doesn't play, you're probably not gonna get really
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: cop pick because he's not gonna be worked that much.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: So you can get like a fifth round pick for him.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: Now they got four to six again next year, can
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: you do Booty in a six for a fourth something
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: like that? Yeah, I just good player, not trying to
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: rush him out the door. I just don't really see
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: the benefit of holding on to him.
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: So I don't see the benefit of holding on to
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: him for him or for the team because for him,
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: like you said, entering the last year of his rookie contract,
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: he hasn't really ever been a volume guy in New England,
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: and now there's even less volume available to him. So
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: even if there's things break his way, there's an injury,
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: let's say he ends up being the third receiver, right,
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: it's Booty Douglas Dobbs, AJ Brown, You're still not really
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: getting the volume, right, You're still gonna be a guy
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: that's gonna catch like thirty five four passed five hundred yards,
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: like that's that's gonna be your stat line. So if
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: you're truly trying to make, you know, have that massive
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: payday next offseason, that's not gonna get you there. I
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: think the one thing I would say about Kaishan Boody
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: from the Patriots perspective, I don't think that we should
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: mix up the Patriots bad luck of drafting wide receivers
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: and you finally get a guy like Kaishan Boody to
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: sort a pan out, right, with that being that Kaishan
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Boody is some like irreplaceable player, right Like, I think
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: those are two different things.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: I think you can get another player that'll give you
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: a Kishon Boody gives you a year or two if
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: you need that guy.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: I just feel like we tend to overrate Kaishan Boody
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: a little bit because he's the one wide receiver pick,
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: and frankly, Pop Douglas is not too far behind. If
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: you look up Bob Douglas's numbers from last year, you'd
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: be surprised. It's a lot closer to Kaishan Boodies than
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: you would think. But those two guys together are really
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: the first time the Patriots have had solid draft picks
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: at that position in like forever, right, And so I
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: think that that kind of puts them on a little
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: bit of a pedestal when you really think about where
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: Kaishon Boody fits in like the hierarchy of the NFL
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: at that position. He's an NFL player, but he's not
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: anything super special. He's not irreplaceable, no, And I think
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: if he was something that the league viewed a little
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: bit higher, I think he already would have been traded.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: I think there was a chance that he was going
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: to get traded on Draft weekend. I thought we might
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: come out of it.
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: I think that you got to wait till you get
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: because you trade him and then don't get a J. Brown,
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: now you're in trouble.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: I think there was a chance. I think that they've
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: been open to trading him all off season.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: I think you got to make sure you get AJ
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Brown first. Maybe they've been exploring it knowing that they're
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: going to get a J. Brown, and they've been laying
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: the groundwork. You can't trade him without getting a J. Brown.
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: So I hear what you're saying, But like if they
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: traded Kishon Booty before they got aj Brown, you have
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: to gives some opportunity to Kyle Williams to potentially flourish. Sure, right,
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: and last year we can look at it statistically and say,
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: you know, Kyle Williams doesn't have a great chance of
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: being a breakout player because of what he did his
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: rookie year. There's not a lot of precedent from a
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: guy going from ten catches to being an NFL player,
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: you know, overnight, like.
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: Jean Body's kind of the one example.
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: Kayseean Boody might be the one example, but you could
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: also put it in context and say, well, he had digs,
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: he had Matt Collins, he had Keyshawn Booty, he had
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: veteran guys in front of him who were producing, and
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: he just didn't really have a great opportunity to get
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: on the field. And a couple of times that he
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: was targeted down the field in Baltimore, Uh, you know
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: the place is. You know there's one other catch right,
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: he had one other big one Giants, was it? I
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: remember the Baltimore one? He had one more?
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: You talking about Booty?
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: No, the Bucks? The Bucks? Oh yeah, bus Yeah, the
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: catch up Yeah, he had some flashes, right, some moments
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: of flashes. You know, if you trade k body without
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: getting a J. Brown, you are putting a lot of
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: stock in in Kyle Williams taking that next step. But
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: maybe you should be opening that pathway for him.
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: I don't know if that's putting all your eggs in
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: that basket. I like Kyle Williams.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: I don't know that I'm that confident, Okay, fair enough,
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: So I do think that they've been trying to trade.
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: They would be open to trade, not trying open to
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: trade in Kishon Booty. Uh maybe for two offseasons. Honestly,
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Like we heard some of this stuff last offseason too
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: when Rabel took over the team that they would were
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: trying to move off of Kishon Boody. So none of
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: this is really new. But I think that he, you know,
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: could go someplace else. If he's a hundred target guy,
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: is that does his production double right, you know? Or
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: is he truly a specialist.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: He's I don't think he's somebody that's ever gonna be
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: a hundred target guy just because of the role he's
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: playing or because of the that's not that's not using
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: him at his best the question is if he plays
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: a full season, does he get to a thousand yards?
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: So like last year, his pace I think was and
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: he missed some time, but his pace had he played
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: the full season, I believe was just shy of a
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: thousand yards.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: So his pace last year.
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: Was.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Oh, and this is including the game where he played
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: like one snap and got hurt. He had five hundred
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: yards in fourteen games. Yeah, it wasn't a thousand yards.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: No, No, it definitely wasn't a thousand yards. I just
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: I wonder if they look at it and they are, like,
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: you know, Kyle, we believe in Kyle Williams. Still. Yeah,
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: we feel like last year it wasn't so much that
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: he couldn't have played more and couldn't have had more volume.
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: There was just other guys in front of him. It
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: was sort of a circumstantial thing versus like he just
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: didn't break out early enough. Right, Maybe that's the way
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: they look at it all.
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: This email is from David.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: He said, hang on real quick, I finally have a
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Kishan booties pace last year was six hundred and seventy yards. Yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: but on what he had on forty six targets, so
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: he had fifty six total targets last year.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: No, he had forty six total.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: His pace, lad, had he played that pace all seventy games,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: is a little higher because I can't sort out that
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: one game he got hurt.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: So round up a little bit.
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: Call it about sixty catches, seven hundred yards, seven touchdowns.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: That's a good season. But that's not a Brown is
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: going to give you more age. Brown should give you more.
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely, all right, So this is from David, he
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: said he recently we recently said that the top remaining
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: needs on the team are safety, linebacker, guard, and maybe
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: more cornerback depth after the offseason, assuming the roster remains
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: intact going into the twenty twenty seven offseason, would those
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: three to four positions still be the top needs or
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: depending on contract situations or other positions, could you see
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: that shift? So basically, do you think that linebacker, safety, guard,
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: corner is the positions we're going to be talking about
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: in February of twenty twenty seven?
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Linebackers, I gotta just look up the UH. I don't
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: know off the top of my head whose contracts are.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Up, So I'll just say while you're looking that up
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: for UH, I'll just say that. I think that it
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: always shifts based off of positional value. Like I'm not
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: gonna be baiting the table next off season unless they
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: are so set everywhere because everything hits again and like
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: everybody's good again, you know, the whole draft class everything.
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: I'm never gonna sit here and say that they should
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: draft the guard in the first round. This is not
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: gonna be me, right, So they're picking like thirty first,
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: thirty second. I guess I could be more convinced.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: All right, So what were the four again?
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: Guard, linebackers, safety.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Corner, guard, linebacker, safety, corner, receiver might end up being
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: a need. They just have a lot of guys expiring,
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: not at number one, but they're gonna need more depth. Yeah, Hollins,
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: booty if he stays, and Pop are all on expiring contracts,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: tight end, if Hunter Henry leaves, they will see what
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: appens to Julian Hill.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: You might need somebody alongside you. I rear it in.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: You had edge in there, you had safety in there,
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: you had corner in there, you had linebacker.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe nose tackle.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: So I would just say, is accus the hit? I
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: don't and and by within that acus being a hit
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: in what way, right, Like is he like a rugged, sturdy,
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: edge setting presence but not really like a true sack artist, right,
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: If that's what he is, I still think the guy
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: that can get you double digit sacks every single season
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: is a big need.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: I would even say if he is, even if Acus
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: is a hit, you still would want the other thing.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: Landry's going to last year with his deal. I don't
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: think he's guaranteed money. Right, So you're talking about Draymond
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: Jones at thirty years old, gave accis, whatever happens with
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Braden Swinson, Elijah Ponder, I guess that's kind of you
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: still need another guy.
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I still need another guy.
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: So I think that this year they're kind of going
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: to roll with those four or five guys, and it
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: is what it is at this point. But edge rusher
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: next off season being sort of like again like a
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: finishing piece type of thing, right where you just get
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: the guy, the finisher, the Matthew Judah that's gonna come
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: in and get the actual sack in the play. I
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: still think we'll be up there. I would say defensive tackle.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: By next off season, it canna be another one. I
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: don't know what Christian Barmore's long term future is with
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: the team. Milton Williams is going to be a year older.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: What's behind those two guys? You know, does Corey Durden
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: take a next step, Does Leonard Taylor take a next step?
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: Does Joshua Farmer take a next step? So building depth
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: and also maybe looking up for Barmore's like kind of
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: long term replacement would be on that list. And then
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: I still think Corner will definitely be in the other
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: top because Carlton Davis is going to be a year older,
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: his contract is gonna be effectively up. Yeah, that would
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: be what he signed a.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Three or four three year deal, but there's he has
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: one more. He's under contract for twenty seven, but with
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: no guaranteed money.
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. So I would still think that
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: going into next off season, Corner is probably going to
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: be pretty close to the top of the list. Yeah,
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: you're gonna want to get a guy in here long term.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: That is Christian Gonzalez's wingman, and we'll see what happens
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: with the Gonzales contract. To be frank about that too.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't resentd him now. Corners probably corners you
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: number one need if they didn't bring him back.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: Well, let's let's hope we don't get to that point.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: We did have some some Celtics questions in here that
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: we're getting very I'm trying to find him getting very popular.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: Everybody wants our Celtics opinions. I know, I know everybody does.
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: But we're an hour and forty two minutes into a
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: show on May twenties, so I think it's time really
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: quickly before we get into this actual the Celtics themselves.
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: I have to say what I witnessed Victor Wembayama do
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: the other night was probably something I've never seen in
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: my life on a basketball court is excellent. I mean
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: it's not just like the stats or the stats. It
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: was a double overtime game, so the fact that he
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: had forty twenty in a double overtime game, he played
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: a whole extra quarter of basketball. But it was just like,
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: you know, this is an eye test thing, which I
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: think a lot of basketball people right now are probably
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: talking about it on their podcast, like to have somebody
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: that is that big and that tall and that long,
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: and I think he's probably closer to like they say,
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: he's six seven seven to six. Sorry, Yeah, it's so crazy.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think he might be like even taller
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: than that, and to move that smoothly, like to be
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: that fluid and like almost move like a wing player,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: but at seven to six is patently absurd. Like that is,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: and like I feel like I keep seeing all these
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: comps like, oh, well, like Shaq was this dominant, or
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: a Keeam was this dominant, or a Kareem was this dominant,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: or Wilt was this dominant? Like this is like the
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: evolution of those players. Like I loved Shaquille O'Neil growing,
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: I'm sure you did too. Yeah, Oh, he's like my
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: favorite basketball player.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: Shaquille Neil wasn't pulling up from thirty feet, No, it
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: would have been cool, though he was not. He could
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: barely shoot a free throw for a lot of his career,
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: let alone hitting a game tying shot in the like
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: closing seconds of an overtime from thirty feet right. It
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: was really ridiculous that being said, I heard your boy
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Felger talking about this yesterday. The NBA moves really really quickly,
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: and I think that as a Celtics fan, I think
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: a lot of people's take away from that with Wemby
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: was like, oh God, like the San Antonio is going
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: to control the league for the next decade, We're all screwed.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: I heard that about a lot of different people.
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: Including the Celtics.
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: I've heard that about the Celtics. I heard about that
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: about about the Joker in Denver when he won his title.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: You heard that a little bit about this OKAC team
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: last year into this year, and now all of a
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: sudden they're down one oh loss at home. It's a
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: very very quick moving league that changes rapidly.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: The tricky thing with Wemby is going to be, and
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: I mean the people point too, he doesn't have the
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: numbers in the regular season because he only plays twenty
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: something minutes to night. Yeah, and that's part of what
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: made that so impressive, Like he wasn't on the floor
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: a lot, and then he comes out, he and it
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: was forty eight minutes, right or forty nine minutes he
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: played essentially a full game.
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: He only averaged twenty nine per game during the regular season.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Because the thing all these and this is why when
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: he came out, like my thing on Wemby was, I
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: don't know if he's going to live up to expectations. One,
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: because the expectations so astronomically high. I'm pretty sure you
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: you were already questioning him like a year ago for
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: not winning any playoff game.
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: No, that wasn't it. No, No, that was I remember
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: you were standing in the tunnel over there, no talking about.
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: My question is he going to stay healthy and have
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: a full career because we've seen a lot of these
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: massive guys Yao Ming, even somebody like chat Holmgren who
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: struggled to stay healthy.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: But Yeao Ming, yeah, I guess that works like these.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: Long but these big lengths that.
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: Really is porzingis.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: And I remember there's been other guys that kind of
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: had this makeup but didn't pan out fun Maker Bowl Bowl,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: and they can't stay healthy because it's just physically difficult
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: to be built that way and compete this way. So
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: that game the other night from Wembenyam was awesome. I
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: don't mean this to knock him. It's a legitimate question,
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: and it's gonna the Spurs training staff is gonna be
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: in the front and center of This's like, can he
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: do that for an entire playoffs? Can he do that
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: for eight to ten to twelve years? And that's what's
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: going to be fascinating about it. None of these guys,
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: and he might be better the best version of them
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: in terms of his skill, but none of these massive,
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: lanky guys that have come through the NBA in the
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: last ten years have truly managed to stay healthy. Por Zingis,
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: I think, is about as good as you can ask.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: And Webenyama has already had some injury issues.
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: You got shut down last year, well, I mean, which
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: is what I was talking all the regular season long.
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: And I think a big reason why he wasn't quite know,
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: you know more in the running for MVP is because
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: he really played on a minute.
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: Restriction the hell out of him. He only played sixty
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: four games.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: He actually only played like thirty minutes a night, and
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: that is thirty of the most impactful that might be
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: in an age where loage management is such a big thing.
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting to see how the NBA juggles this,
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Like that's gonna be what makes it. He might have
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: to that just might be his career for the regular season.
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: That might be what he has to do.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: But okay, he played forty nine minutes the other night,
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: Like what does the rest of the series now look like?
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: And so I was that was I was blown oway.
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: I tested you. I think at the end of the
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: fourth quarter in the first overtime he looked to me,
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: he looked gasts at the end of the game to
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: use it.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: He was. In the second overtime he completely took to
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: use the phrase that you like to use that. Let
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: finally let the Ferrari out of the garage.
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: They did, they had to.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: They're gonna be really interesting to see how it plays
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: out when he can play. When he plays, he's the
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: best player in the league. There's nobody that can do
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: what he does, period, full stop. He's the best player.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: He's doing things that maybe nobody ever has been able
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, but again it's just how long, both
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: in the short term and the long term. How long
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: is he going to be able to do that?
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the other thing about San Antonio that
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: that makes them so scary though, is like in theory
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: they can be like a sixty win team. Yeah, with
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: Dylan Harper and Stefan Castles play.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Stefan castle can freaking play.
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: In the regular season like they need. Like it's kind
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: of like the twenty twenty four Celtics, like the twenty
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: twenty four. Celtics needed Porzingis to like get over the playoffs, right, Yeah,
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: But they didn't need Porzingis to be a sixty five
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: win team in the regular season, right. They needed Porzingis
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: in June. And I think the San Antonio thing, like
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: they're going to be very very competitive, just with those
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: two guys Castle and Harper, who are also super young,
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: and we're also high lottery picks, and like their their
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: bench mob that wemb can kind of like up the
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: minutes in the playoffs when it counts and be just fine.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Here are the questions on the Celtics. Is it dumb?
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: Number one? Quick three questions from adam Aiden? Sorry, is
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: it dumb to switch from trading for Giannis uh to
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: trading for Miles Turner who's also on the Bucks.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: I love Myles Turner. You're not trading Jalen Brown for him? No,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: that's a different trade, very different. I've always liked Miles
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Turner's game. I think he's a good fit for what
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: they do. He never got out of Indy.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: He was supposed to be here?
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: Was that?
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Which trade?
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Was that that they bossed the last second?
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: A million?
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: What was like reported? He was here and then something
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: that they have.
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: Been linked to Miles Turner for as long as Miles
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: Turner he has been in the league. I feel like
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: they've just been He's been like one of those guys
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: with the Celtics that every single time Miles Turner's name
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: came up in trade rumors, it was somehow linked to
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: the Celtics. I love.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: I would love to see Miles Turner.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: He's a real center, but he's modern enough, and he plays,
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: He shows up, he plays, he plays every night.
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: So two things on Miles Turner. I believe, and I
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: don't have the contract right in front of me, but
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: I believe that he would fit into their twenty seven
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: million dollar trade exemption.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: Who would so, well, yeah, he signed a four year
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: Well a max player like Giannis wouldn't, right, Okay, he
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: signed a four year, one hundred and nine million dollar
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: contract last year, So yeah, it's so, I think.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: He would fit into the trade exemption. So in theory,
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: you could add Miles Turner without sending out salary.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: So you could.
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: Do some sort of player and picks for Miles Turner
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: and not really give up a whole lot for him.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: They the Bucks did this weird thing with Miles Turner
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: where they acquired Miles Turner and like did some crazy
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: like they stretched Dramian Lillard and they made all these
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: moves to get Miles Turner in Milwaukee, and at least
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: the first year Miles Turner in Milwaukee, it it was terrible.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: He's not a fit there.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: It just didn't work.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: You can't have him and Giannis on the floor at
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: the same time.
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: So maybe they're looking to move Miles Turner. I think
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: a move like that, though I don't know if it
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: will be Miles Turner. Yeah, but a move for like
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: a true starting big man like that, preferably one that
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: maybe fits into that twenty seven million dollar trade exemption.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: Maybe it's a sign and trade with one of there
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: are a couple of free agent centers that are gonna
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: be available. Those things actually make a lot of sense.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: If they're not going to make like the big Jalen
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: Brown for Giannis splash, like, if they're just going to
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: add to their current team a little bit, then something
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: like a Miles Turner type trade, you know, Gafford in Dallas,
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: like something like that would make a little bit of sense.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Second one, if Joe doesn't change his offensive approach. Does
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: Brad Stevens is Joe on the hot seat?
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: Should be? I mean, I don't know how you listen
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: to that press conference and not think so Brad Stevens
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: ender of your press conference. Like the question is going
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: to be as if and where I think that that
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: was going, Like if they're not making the strategic adjustments
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: based on the roster changes they make, just Brad Stevens
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: start to meddle. And that was the big question when
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: Brad Stevens got promoted whatever you want to call it,
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: to this job is like he's a coach at heart.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: Is he going to be two meddling and come downstairs
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: too much? Likes it and he's been great with that
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: from everything we've heard, Like that's never really been an issue,
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: but this is it. There wasn't really a time for
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: it to be an issue until now. So how did
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: It's a fine line to walk. You can't if you
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: see things that be doing being done wrong, you got
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: to fix it. But you can't totally, you know whatever.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: The opposite of empower is disempower your coach. Yeah, so
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: that's gonna be you hope it doesn't get there. If
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: it does get there, I'll be very curious to see
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: what Brad Stevens does. That would be Uh, that's gonna
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: be one of the more fascinating storylines this upcoming season
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I mean, I think you have to
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: have in the modern NBA, you have to have the
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: three pointer be a pretty big part of your offense.
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: It doesn't need to be as big of a part
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: as the self extent made it.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: This is what I go back to when you need
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: too many threes whatever. If you want the three ball
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: to be your main thing, fine, you have to have
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: something else when it's not falling and they have nothing else.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: So the question that I would have for Brad Stevens,
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: and he kind of answered this a little bit at
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: his press conference, but the question that I would have
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: for Brad Stevens and like not press conference Brad Stevens,
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: like Truecierra and Brad Stevens, is are the three pointers
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: a result of a system that they are implementing or
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: the three pointer as a result of roster construction? Right?
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: Like do they especially the team last year? The team
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: last year? Like who who was scoring inside for that
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: team last year?
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: I would have liked it they didn't have the back
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: to the basket guy. I think they had guys Jalen Brown,
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: especially Jalen Brown was the one guy who were slashers
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: who could get to I. Now what Steven said is
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: like a true rim presence, which is different, right, So
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: I think that's what he really wants, because like I
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: think all these people that want like paint touches and
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: watch them to score inside, well, like two years ago
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: when they had porzingis like they had a guy that
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: could do that. I don't know if the twenty twenty
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: five twenty twenty six Celtics really had a player like
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: that that could do it himself. Like Nimi Keita can
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: catch lobs and stuff like that, but he's not posting
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: guys up and he's not hickeen, Like, he's not going
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: to start making moves down there, right, So I think
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: that it's a kind of a chicken or the egg thing.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: I think they became really three point happy over the
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: last two seasons partially because they really didn't have a
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: scoring big man, Like, they didn't really have an interior
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: presence to their offense.
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: They were a perimeter offense. So if you add that
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: different element to it, does it naturally pivot right like.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: It's not so much about a system like it does
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: it just naturally go in a more stable direction. Last question,
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: here is a football question. So everybody can get mad
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: that got mad at us for talking ten minutes of
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: basketball in may Can. Here's a football question for you.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Even when the Pats get AJ Brown, do you think
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: McDaniels would move him like Edeman or play him.
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: More like Moss. Well, I think he'll play him more
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: like Moss personally. You know, I think Edelman is that
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: you say that or email? No, I'm saying that. I
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: think he'll be more I think if they have a J.
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: Brown and Romeo Dobbs, it is a little lesser of
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: a version of Edelman Welker or Welker and Moss. Excuse me,
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: where AJ Brown is Moss, Romeo Dobs is Welker, and
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: you're have a underneath like chain moving guy, and then
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: you have like your big play guy, and the big
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: play guy's AJ Brown. The chain moving guy is Romeo Dobs.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: So that's how I feel. A Darius in Louisville. Uh,
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: it says.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: The subject line of this email is Evan come on man,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: So there you go, Evan, your affection and love for
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: Patty Mahomes and Josh Allen is pretty weird.
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: Bro.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: I'm just saying I would love to know, Like, what
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: do you think is weird about it? Well, it's it's
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: pretty weird. Like that's a pretty vague.
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: You refuse, you refuse to criticize them.
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: I refuse to criticize them. I just think they're really
- 1:55:44Speaker 2: really good.
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: Is that you refuse, especially Alan, you refuse to criticize.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: And like, is that is that a horrible thing for
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: me to say that Josh Allen's a good quarterback.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: Not historically entering the twenty twenty six season as Drake
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: may in their class not yet?
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Okay, I think a lot of people would disagree.
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: I don't think Patrick Mahomes is in that class anymore
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: right now. I think, to be fair, I right, the
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: best quarterback in the league. It's I mean, like after
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: the year Stafford just had, it's hard to like not
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: put him in the conversation because normally I think that
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: the pantheon right now is Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, Burrow right Like,
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: I feel like those four guys are usually held on
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: the estire staff.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: Was it was Brady Rogers Breeze and Peyton, well Peyton
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: and then I guess later on.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: I don't know Rivers whoever you want to throw in there.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: So until Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, I think
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: that we're seeing that turnover in Burrow. We're seeing that
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: turnover again. That's what's happening now. So if we are
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: going Mount Rash, Wore's right, Alan Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar has
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: definitely been for the last let's call it three to
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: five years.
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: Since the end of the Brady Breeze Rogers.
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: That's that's been the Mount rushmore. So, I guess my
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: question is is Matthew Stafford not is he did he
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: knock on the door?
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: He's kind of his own thing because of his age,
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: because of his age. Yeah, So here's my bigger questions is.
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: This is an interesting topic that we brought up with Mahomes.
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: The only one out of those four who's won a
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: Super Bowl since that takeover.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: He's the only one that's won a Super Bowl.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Brady Brady was.
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: The only one.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: Years.
- 1:57:28Speaker 5: What doesn't get thrown into that.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: Hurts more next year.
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: It's trying to think of who the Brady quit Maybe
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: like Joe Flacco type.
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: Like like, Hurts.
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: Had a tough year last year. So I'm just saying
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: from that group, like, so here's my question, Jal Hurts.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: Since Mahomes, Lamar, Alan and Burrow displaced Slash, the retirement
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: of Brady Manning, Breeze, Rogers, sure has the next group,
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: which is who may.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: Williams, Jaden Daniels, Jade Daniels.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: I'm trying to there's there's gotta be one or two
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: of that. Weren't exactly that draft, like maybe like a
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: Jordan Love or not Young. I think Herbert maybe, yeah,
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: but Herbert was the same, No, he was a little
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: later like Herbert. Is that group is the Lamar, Mahomes,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: Allen Burrough group. Are they still at the peak or
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: are they closer to getting pushed out and supplanted by
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: the next guys, because I think that's knocking whoever that
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: I think they're probably the group knocking on the door.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: I think they're in their peak right now, but they're
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: like to use you to go to your side to
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: use a golf analogy. Are they on like whole eight
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: or nine and they're about to make the turn? Like
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: I think they've made the turn.
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: So you think they've made Mahomes might have made it
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: the turn because I don't know what's going on with Mahomes.
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: It's going on Burrow Well, Burrow can't stay healthy.
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: That's part of it.
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: Is Burrow.
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: Burrow's Andrew Luck.
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: No, he's accomplished more than Andrew Luck.
- 1:59:09Speaker 2: Has you think no?
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: He He kind of might be Breeze because Breeze was
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: banged up a lot at the end, but Breeze won
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: a super Bowl.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: Breeze did win a super Bowl.
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: The only difference between Burrow Andrew Luck lost his AFC
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: Championship game.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: In Burrow, one torch is being passed.
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: So I think that Drake May. I think Matthew Stafford
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: is kind of in his own Stafford kind of bridged.
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: He's his own grandpa, right, He's like over here somewhere
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: in the old age home.
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: That's still awesome. I don't know when to put him.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: Stafford's he's younger, He's not in the Brady Mahomes, Breeze
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Rogers generation.
- 1:59:42Speaker 3: To me, he's younger than that, but he's obviously older.
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: Than everybody else.
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he's kind of an in between here.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: So the question is is can basically can the twenty
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: twenty four draft guys, right, Drake uh Cale, Williams, Jenden Daniels.
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: Can they or is that twenty t five draft? Twenty
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: twenty four? Twenty five?
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: No?
- 2:00:02Speaker 2: Twenty fives? Will Campbell twenty four? I had it right
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: the first time, twenty four draft? Can those three guys
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: surpass some of these guys.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: This year the seventeen eighteen nineteen drafts?
- 2:00:14Speaker 2: Yeah? Well see, but I think most people feel like Burrow, Allen,
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: Mahomes Jackson is like the S tier, and then Stafford's
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: like I'm saying, for how much iron is what will
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: be interesting to see. I don't know what's weird about
- 2:00:27Speaker 2: me just admitting that those guys are good at football,
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: because that's a problem.
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: You get very sorry, like you almost take pride in
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: how good they are. It's very weird, like an apologies.
- 2:00:36Speaker 3: You act kind of proud about how good Josh Allen is.
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: I do stand it because I was are right about him.
- 2:00:43Speaker 2: That's why you're right about Drake May too.
- 2:00:46Speaker 3: You're not acting that proud about Drake May.
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: Because Jake May was. I I guess they were probably
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: both pretty kind of polarizing. I feel like Josh Allen
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: was more polarizing.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: Josh Allen's more polarizing because that draft class was different
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: and he also went to Wyom and he went to Wyoming.
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: Yeah, alright, it's a good question though that we did
- 2:01:02Speaker 2: in the last thirty seconds of the show. I wish
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: we had gotten to that one a little.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: People stuck around during the basketball talk got a reward.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: Yeah they did, that's true. All Right, we're gonna be
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: back next week. Show announcement for next week, so the
- 2:01:12Speaker 2: Patriots are going to have their first OTA. The media
- 2:01:15Speaker 2: is going to be attending that first OTA, so that's
- 2:01:18Speaker 2: gonna be early afternoon, probably between like twelve and two,
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: when we're normally on the air. So next week's show
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: is going to be from three to five pm. Three
- 2:01:26Speaker 2: to five pm on Wednesday, Go ahead, Alex and I
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: go out and watch practice, and then the whole show
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: will be about recapping practice and what we saw. So
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: that'd be fun. I'll be exciting. I actually have some
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: semblance of football new football to react to. So next
- 2:01:41Speaker 2: week's show three to five pm, right after the Patriots
- 2:01:45Speaker 2: first OTA. Reacting to that Patriots first OTA, p you
- 2:01:48Speaker 2: would be tomorrow twelve to two and We'll see you
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: guys next week here on Cash twenty two. Thanks for watching.
