- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. In
- 0:14Speaker 1: today's episode, we are sharing a fall favorite movie, Roadhouse Romance.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Before you listen to this episode, you should know that
- 0:20Speaker 1: this was recorded very early in our Hallmark podcasting career,
- 0:24Speaker 1: so the format of this episode is a little bit
- 0:26Speaker 1: different than what you're used to now, but it's still
- 0:28Speaker 1: the same Megan and Wendy that you know. We hope
- 0:31Speaker 1: you enjoy our review of Roadhouse Romance, and maybe it's
- 0:34Speaker 1: time to add it to your fall rewatch list. Hey everybody,
- 0:39Speaker 1: welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I'm Megan. I'm Wendy.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And today we are discussing Roadhouse Romance, the first in
- 0:46Speaker 1: six movies of Hallmark's.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Fall Harvest series.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Wendy. Yo.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Do you have a synopsis? No, I don't. Hang on.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I don't have my computer in front of me. Okay,
- 0:59Speaker 2: are you ready? Roadhouse Romance. Country music fan Callie is
- 1:03Speaker 2: determined to continue her late grandfather's legacy. That's a terrible
- 1:10Speaker 2: synopsis of this movie.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Right? I'm going to pull up IMDb because they're going
- 1:16Speaker 2: to have a different one that I'm sure is going
- 1:18Speaker 2: to be more satisfactory. Here we go. When Callie returns home,
- 1:23Speaker 2: she finds her hometown has changed. Her first love has
- 1:26Speaker 2: a new girl and her family's barbecue restaurant has hit
- 1:30Speaker 2: hard times. She clashes with a marooned big shot director
- 1:34Speaker 2: who might hold the key to saving the restaurant. What
- 1:37Speaker 2: a different synopsis compared to the other one. Okay.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Let's hop into news and notes about Roadhouse Romance.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And I got a lot of them. Oh, okay. Why
- 1:49Speaker 2: don't you hop right in? Well, filmed in Vancouver, as
- 1:52Speaker 2: we know. It was supposed to take place in Tennessee. Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It never said Nashville, but it did mention Franklin in
- 2:01Speaker 2: the movie, which I've been to, actually. As has my husband.
- 2:05Speaker 2: He wants to move there. It's a cute town. It
- 2:08Speaker 2: is a cute town.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's a really cute town. Of course, it stars Tyler Hines.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know we love Tyler Hines. Easily top three. He's
- 2:15Speaker 1: my number one, I think, Hallmark guy.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But we love him. His hair is still a seventh
- 2:21Speaker 2: wonder of the world for me. I really don't understand.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I need to get up and close and personal with
- 2:26Speaker 2: it and run my fingers through it. I just need
- 2:29Speaker 2: to see. It's got a lot of like Eddie Munster
- 2:33Speaker 2: vibes to me.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He has a strong hairline. Right.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But then I was. I mean, you should have saw me.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I was trying to like zoom in on the TV.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Like I'm trying. It looked like it was almost like
- 2:44Speaker 2: powder filled. I think that's his hair.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I think that's his hair because that's how it always looks.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It'd be a real commitment to that. I think that's
- 2:52Speaker 1: his hair. But you know who powdered his hair, sprayed
- 2:55Speaker 1: on his hair? Who? Is John Cryer in Two and
- 2:58Speaker 1: a Half Men.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Oh, really? He sprayed his hair on. Yeah. Oh, okay. Well,
- 3:02Speaker 2: I mean, whatever. I mean, I do that too. So
- 3:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:06Speaker 1: He stars alongside Lauren Alaina, and we discussed this in
- 3:10Speaker 1: previous episodes, but she is an American Idol alum. She
- 3:13Speaker 1: was a runner-up on Scottie McCreary's season. I did not
- 3:17Speaker 1: watch that season, but watching this movie, man, I think
- 3:20Speaker 1: she should have won.
- 3:22Speaker 2: She's got a voice. She's got a great voice. That
- 3:24Speaker 2: was the 10th season of Idol. She also competed on
- 3:28Speaker 2: season 28 of Dancing with the Stars. I watched that show.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So I loved this anecdote from Lauren Alaina, who really
- 3:39Speaker 1: did this movie as kind of a tribute to her family.
- 3:42Speaker 1: She says when she goes home from the holidays, she
- 3:43Speaker 1: visits her cousin and her aunt and they lay in
- 3:46Speaker 1: bed and watch Hallmark movies together. And she was able
- 3:49Speaker 1: to share this movie with them. I like it when
- 3:51Speaker 1: these actors have a personal connection to the Hallmark movie
- 3:54Speaker 1: and they're excited to be there and they're not lowering
- 3:58Speaker 1: themselves to be in a Hallmark movie. They're excited to,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, they're excited to be there.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Right. Now I think I read it. It was her
- 4:04Speaker 2: first Hallmark movie. Yeah. She was in another movie called
- 4:08Speaker 2: Road Less Traveled, but, and I assumed that was a
- 4:11Speaker 2: Hallmark movie, but then I had read that this was
- 4:13Speaker 2: her first. Well, listen to this note. This is one
- 4:17Speaker 2: that you probably are not familiar with, but the actress
- 4:21Speaker 2: who played Willa, Willa was the aunt, the brunette.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: She was played by Sarah Edmondson. Now, I knew I
- 4:30Speaker 2: recognized her when I watched this movie. I was like,
- 4:32Speaker 2: where do I know her face from? Is she in
- 4:34Speaker 2: another movie that I saw this year? Can't place her.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Can't place her. No, I saw a ton of her somewhere.
- 4:42Speaker 2: She was a major player in the documentary that blew
- 4:46Speaker 2: open the MLM cult NXIVM. Oh, I haven't seen that.
- 4:51Speaker 2: There are two of them, aren't there? There are two
- 4:54Speaker 2: of them, but she is front and center in one
- 4:58Speaker 2: of them and it's called The Vow. And that was
- 5:00Speaker 2: the one that was on HBO. Oh, I might need
- 5:02Speaker 2: to watch that. Yeah. It's a reenactment that she is
- 5:06Speaker 2: in or was she in the cult? She was in
- 5:08Speaker 2: the cult.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Oh.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Her and her husband both. Oh, I need to watch
- 5:12Speaker 2: this now. Yeah. And it was, it's, it's very in depth. It's,
- 5:17Speaker 2: how many did I say? Oh, nine episode series. Yeah. It's,
- 5:20Speaker 2: It's a lot. So that's where I recognized her from.
- 5:23Speaker 2: She is an actress who got involved in that NXIVM
- 5:26Speaker 2: cult anyway. Yeah. Who is now out of it.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Another fun note about Lauren Alaina is that her father
- 5:35Speaker 1: was an army veteran. So she plays a soldier. She's
- 5:38Speaker 1: a lieutenant in the army. And so for her, it
- 5:40Speaker 1: was this movie came out on the 20th anniversary of 9-11.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Her father was an army vet. And then she said,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I called my dad the day I put the uniform
- 5:47Speaker 1: on and he cried like a baby on FaceTime. And
- 5:50Speaker 1: then she says, well, he cried. And then he said,
- 5:52Speaker 1: fix your hat. So that's a quote from southernliving.com, which
- 5:57Speaker 1: I like that. I like that tie in. And I
- 5:59Speaker 1: think that was fun. What was your first impression of
- 6:02Speaker 1: this movie? I really liked this movie. I thought this
- 6:06Speaker 1: was a great kickoff.
- 6:10Speaker 2: You know, look, I love Tyler Hines. I loved Lauren Alaina.
- 6:14Speaker 2: She could not be cuter.
- 6:15Speaker 1: She needs to be a Christmas headliner, in my opinion.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I liked the fall vibes. And, you know, my husband
- 6:25Speaker 1: is finally watching now. Now that it's fall, he's watching
- 6:27Speaker 1: with me. So it made the experience watching more fun.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But man, this was a win for me.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I agree. I thought it was a solid start to
- 6:35Speaker 2: the fall harvest. Yeah. Loved it. Well, I didn't love it.
- 6:40Speaker 2: 10 out of 10. I liked it a lot. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So what did you like about it? Okay.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Look at those notes here. I'm impressed. A full page here.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I really enjoyed Lauren Alaina as an actress. Me too.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I liked her laid back southern way.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I thought it was... It felt very authentic. And it
- 7:02Speaker 2: was just a really nice like juxtaposition compared to Luke's girlfriend, Jillian,
- 7:08Speaker 2: who was like this like high strung Hollywood actress. So yeah,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I like that. I liked it a lot. I loved her.
- 7:16Speaker 1: She honestly could not be cuter. I loved her relationship
- 7:20Speaker 1: with her mom and her aunt. That felt really real
- 7:23Speaker 1: to me. I liked how, you know, her mom and
- 7:25Speaker 1: her aunt like antagonize each other a little bit, but
- 7:28Speaker 1: There was a lot of love there. I liked the
- 7:32Speaker 1: incorporation of the singing.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Me too.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And sometimes I fast forward through that, but not like
- 7:38Speaker 1: in a movie.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Not this movie. Not in this movie.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But sometimes if they're singing in a movie, I'm not
- 7:43Speaker 1: really like, I don't really want to. I'm not here
- 7:45Speaker 1: for that.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I watched all of it.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I thought her voice was great. I loved the Alison
- 7:50Speaker 1: Krauss song at the end.
- 7:52Speaker 2: You say it best. One of my favorite songs ever.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And they didn't drag the songs on too long. It
- 7:58Speaker 1: wasn't like a time filler. It moved the story forward.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And she can actually sing, although I don't think she
- 8:05Speaker 1: was actually singing in all of those scenes.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It's pre-recorded. I didn't watch that closely to her. I
- 8:12Speaker 2: am glad that she got to sing.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But it wasn't like her singing was her.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Only contribution to this movie.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I thought she was a great actress.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I had read that she got to sing two of
- 8:23Speaker 2: her own songs in this movie. She didn't write them
- 8:27Speaker 2: for the movie, but she got to sing two of
- 8:28Speaker 2: her own songs. She sings three times. She sings the
- 8:33Speaker 2: Alison Krauss song, and then the other two must be hers.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And there's one point where, like, The lady, the actress
- 8:40Speaker 2: who played her mom is like singing along. And I
- 8:42Speaker 2: was like, that's real cute. Like, I didn't know at
- 8:45Speaker 2: that point that that was one of Lauren Alaina's songs.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But did that lady like learn the song or know
- 8:51Speaker 2: of the song already?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Well, and they probably had to play it several times
- 8:55Speaker 1: to get the take. True. True.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I think it was the Run song. It was called Run, maybe.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I think it was the first one she sang. Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 2: maybe she learned it ahead of time. But it was funny.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It was like, here she is behind the bar. Now
- 9:06Speaker 2: come on up and sing. And like, you know. I
- 9:10Speaker 2: like that. I loved the music and the singing. I
- 9:13Speaker 2: loved the fall festival vibes of everything. I have been
- 9:17Speaker 2: saying it for weeks. I was like, I need a
- 9:19Speaker 2: fall festival.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 2: In my own neighborhood. I would love to go to
- 9:24Speaker 2: like a barbecue place and have like. I mean, that's
- 9:28Speaker 2: stuff you get in Nashville anyways. Like you go out
- 9:30Speaker 2: to eat and there's musicians playing there. You know? Why
- 9:34Speaker 2: can't I have that here in Orange County? I would
- 9:36Speaker 2: like it too. I would like it too. I spy
- 9:38Speaker 2: some diversity. I mean. They were side players. Joe, the boyfriend. Yeah. Jillian,
- 9:45Speaker 2: the girlfriend. And the car guy, the mechanic guy. I
- 9:49Speaker 2: don't know his name. But this is a fine line
- 9:52Speaker 2: I'm going to walk here. Yeah. And I'm trying to
- 9:55Speaker 2: say it in the most appropriate words. Lauren Alaina did
- 9:58Speaker 2: not fit this stage. Hallmark actress category.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Mold.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I agree. And I loved it. Me too. Me too.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I was like, there is someone who looks like me
- 10:08Speaker 2: and I'm here for it. Yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 1: We've talked about this before that Hallmark has been taking
- 10:13Speaker 1: the babiest of baby steps into diversity in their movies.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But we've also talked about how diversity doesn't just come
- 10:19Speaker 1: in skin color. Like, yes, we want actresses and actors
- 10:22Speaker 1: of color in these movies, but there's body diversity, there's
- 10:26Speaker 1: lifestyle diversity. And so yes, Again, I feel like this
- 10:29Speaker 1: is all real baby steps into body diversity.
- 10:33Speaker 2: But I liked it. Honestly, like, I love her.
- 10:38Speaker 1: She could not have been cuter this entire movie. I
- 10:40Speaker 1: was like, I so enjoy watching her in this movie.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Me too. Every time, like, every scene she was in,
- 10:46Speaker 2: she was just, like, smiling. And I was like, I
- 10:48Speaker 2: feel like she, like, loves what she's doing right now. Like,
- 10:51Speaker 2: she's so enjoying it.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Totally. I agree.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Totally. Totally.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I really liked the story in terms that Callie was
- 11:01Speaker 2: returning from deployment. It was such a nice change from
- 11:04Speaker 2: like a man coming home, you know? And like, I
- 11:07Speaker 2: don't know if I've ever seen it in a Hallmark movie,
- 11:10Speaker 2: like where a woman comes home from deployment. Yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 1: And I just really enjoyed that. And I liked how
- 11:18Speaker 1: they very lightly touched upon... how life goes on when
- 11:24Speaker 1: you're gone and how jarring it can be to come back.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And you haven't been a part of it. You knew
- 11:30Speaker 1: what was going on, but to come back and kind
- 11:33Speaker 1: of assimilate into life, it's obviously tougher than a lost
- 11:39Speaker 1: barbecue sauce recipe for real soldiers.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But I did get that feeling when she's talking to
- 11:45Speaker 1: her mom in her room. She's like, I know I
- 11:46Speaker 1: was gone, but the reality that I was gone and
- 11:50Speaker 1: that two years have passed is just hitting me we
- 11:54Speaker 1: have a neighbor who's currently deployed and granted not for
- 11:57Speaker 1: two years but I you know I think about that
- 11:59Speaker 1: what it must be like to leave and sacrifice so
- 12:04Speaker 1: much of your life and to then come back how
- 12:08Speaker 1: hard that.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Must be right right here's another thing I really liked
- 12:12Speaker 2: I liked that Callie and Luke were strangers they didn't
- 12:17Speaker 2: have any kind of weird backstory they didn't date in
- 12:20Speaker 2: a previous life like Two strangers meeting for the very
- 12:24Speaker 2: first time and we were watching their relationship unfold. Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 2: That's what I liked about this movie. And I also
- 12:34Speaker 2: really loved the dialogue. Whoever wrote this movie had some
- 12:38Speaker 2: really funny wit about them.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I feel like Tyler Hines movies get those because he
- 12:44Speaker 1: can handle it. Like he's got that like real easy comedy,
- 12:48Speaker 1: not like slapstick comedy. He can just deliver a line
- 12:51Speaker 1: in a way that I find entertaining. And I thought
- 12:53Speaker 1: she was great too.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Me too.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Like her banter was great. She was believable. I believed
- 12:58Speaker 1: her as Callie. Absolutely agree.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Agree. Are you ready for what did you wish for? Yes,
- 13:04Speaker 2: I am.
- 13:04Speaker 1: May I start with an email?
- 13:06Speaker 2: Sure.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We have an email from Michelle who says, I love
- 13:10Speaker 1: watching anything with Tyler Hines, but please Hallmark, you've.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Got to do better.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Then cheesy high school level green screens. It was painful
- 13:17Speaker 1: to watch the car scene.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I have that in my digicy
- 13:21Speaker 2: that moment.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 2: This was filmed in the spring.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So obviously we don't have fall foliage outside the window.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So my question is, in the spring, these places still
- 13:33Speaker 1: would have been green because they do a couple shots
- 13:36Speaker 1: of them, just the car, like a quick zoom. And
- 13:39Speaker 1: they're outside and it's beautiful and green, but you don't
- 13:41Speaker 1: get the changing of the leaves. Would you have preferred
- 13:44Speaker 1: real shots of them driving through green areas that don't
- 13:48Speaker 1: have the changing of the leaves or this attempt to
- 13:51Speaker 1: stay true to the actual season with the green screen colors?
- 13:57Speaker 2: I don't need to be hit over the head with
- 14:01Speaker 2: fall foliage. Yeah, because it's distracting, right? When they were driving,
- 14:05Speaker 2: that's all I saw.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Same.
- 14:07Speaker 2: It was like a blur of red and orange.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I have no idea what they talked about in the car. Ever.
- 14:12Speaker 2: The terrible production whenever they drove was awful. Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And even when they walk down to that grove of trees,
- 14:19Speaker 1: that's a green screen.
- 14:21Speaker 2: The absolute terrible fall foliage everywhere. Am I saying that? Foliage.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You and my husband both say foilage. Foilage. After Luke
- 14:29Speaker 2: and Kelly stop. It was awful. And when they do
- 14:33Speaker 2: the up close shot, you can tell.
- 14:35Speaker 1: My husband's like, they put one little orange tree in
- 14:37Speaker 1: the background and the rest of it.
- 14:40Speaker 2: It was rough stuff there. That was bad. That was bad.
- 14:43Speaker 2: So thank you, Michelle, for... Yeah, I think.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Those driving scenes really could have done without it because
- 14:49Speaker 1: they do a good job. The town is decked out.
- 14:53Speaker 1: The bar is decked out. The mechanic shop is decked out.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I think we could have just.
- 15:00Speaker 2: It would have been okay. Yeah, right. What did you
- 15:02Speaker 2: wish for? A slightly quicker pace to the story. I
- 15:07Speaker 2: thought it unfolded a little too slowly for me. At
- 15:11Speaker 2: first it was about like the barbecue sauce and then
- 15:13Speaker 2: it was about like The car breaking down or their whatever.
- 15:17Speaker 2: And then about the recipe. And then about Tucker's possibly
- 15:22Speaker 2: going out of business. So it was like, where are
- 15:26Speaker 2: we going with this? I don't find that the premise
- 15:29Speaker 2: for Luke to stay in town holds up. Because his
- 15:34Speaker 2: car won't start.
- 15:35Speaker 1: His car needs a part. This is not like with
- 15:38Speaker 1: Jingle Bell Bride where they're stuck someplace and they can't
- 15:41Speaker 1: fly out. Because at one point, Jill drives there. So
- 15:46Speaker 1: if she can drive to him, he can drive to her.
- 15:49Speaker 1: There are no rental cars in Tennessee.
- 15:51Speaker 2: There are no Ubers.
- 15:54Speaker 1: He didn't need to stay because she makes the point, like,
- 15:57Speaker 1: why didn't you just ship the car to California? He
- 16:00Speaker 1: goes to his beautiful home with a pool. He clearly
- 16:03Speaker 1: has the means to make these things happen. So he
- 16:06Speaker 1: didn't need to be stuck in town. Could we have
- 16:09Speaker 1: manufactured a better reason for that?
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 1: For them to stay in town. I'm sure they could have.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Like we're researching a show.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah. That would have been better, right?
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Because why do you and your agent both need
- 16:22Speaker 1: to stick around waiting for this car to get fixed? Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You don't.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Totally. Totally. I hated Joe, the ex-boyfriend. Me too. I
- 16:30Speaker 2: was like, you're a P-R-I-C-K. But that's by design. I know.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Because I... Yeah. Because... I understand. But I was like, oh,
- 16:40Speaker 2: you're so douchey. Like this douchey doctor. Like you're such
- 16:44Speaker 2: a jerk. I hated him. And we've seen.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Movies where they have had exes get back together and
- 16:50Speaker 1: realize they're not right for each other and they don't
- 16:52Speaker 1: have to be douchey. But even when they're realizing that
- 16:55Speaker 1: it's not going well and he's still trying to turn
- 16:58Speaker 1: Callie against Luke.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Right. Luke's making fun of us.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I didn't like him either. I did not like him either.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I have read some reviews. Okay. It's polar opposites. People
- 17:16Speaker 2: say Tyler Hines and Lauren Alaina had tons of chemistry.
- 17:21Speaker 2: And then on the other end, people say terrible chemistry.
- 17:24Speaker 2: What do you think? I do wish there was more chemistry. Well,
- 17:27Speaker 2: that's funny. I thought they had great chemistry. I thought
- 17:30Speaker 2: they had great banter. And at one point, I thought,
- 17:33Speaker 2: are they going to end up just friends? Yes. Like,
- 17:37Speaker 2: I thought they have such a, they have a flirtation
- 17:41Speaker 2: that you would see like in the workplace between two coworkers.
- 17:47Speaker 2: But do you think that's.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Because she was, you know, he was in a relationship
- 17:51Speaker 1: up until the last scene?
- 17:52Speaker 2: Well, that's what I have down here. I wanted to
- 17:55Speaker 2: ask you, what did you think about that? That he
- 17:58Speaker 2: had this girlfriend. How do you feel about that kind
- 18:01Speaker 2: of narrative of like, he's connected with somebody, but then
- 18:05Speaker 2: here comes this other person. hot piece like what a
- 18:08Speaker 2: you know is that problematic.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So I am always against the like any sort of
- 18:16Speaker 1: even implied infidelity do I think he would actually unfaithful
- 18:22Speaker 1: no do I think you should maybe feel bad for
- 18:26Speaker 1: obviously he clearly had feelings for Callie while he was
- 18:31Speaker 1: with Jillian yeah I think that's complicated.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So the answer is I do think it's problematic. I
- 18:41Speaker 2: do think it's... Now, I didn't like Jillian. I didn't
- 18:46Speaker 2: like her.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I wasn't rooting for her. I knew from the very
- 18:48Speaker 1: beginning they were not going to end up together and
- 18:51Speaker 1: they wanted different things. But I don't love when one
- 18:56Speaker 1: relationship develops while another relationship.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Is still active. Well, to me, he didn't even seem
- 19:01Speaker 2: that into Jillian either. Yeah. Like, he was like... Here,
- 19:04Speaker 2: I bought you a brand new retro car. Cool car.
- 19:09Speaker 2: But I don't really like you. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And even like her first comment to him about the
- 19:15Speaker 1: car is like, why didn't you ship it? And you
- 19:17Speaker 1: can already tell like he's annoyed. They don't want the
- 19:20Speaker 1: same things. They don't live the same way. You know,
- 19:24Speaker 1: she wants him to do this Island Girl movie and
- 19:27Speaker 1: he thinks it's terrible, et cetera, et cetera.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Right. All right. What else did you wish for? That's
- 19:32Speaker 2: all I wished for. Time for did you see that?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Did you see Tyler Hines aggressively white earbuds?
- 19:40Speaker 2: No, I didn't even notice them. He's wearing earbuds twice.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And you're telling me dude doesn't have a set of
- 19:45Speaker 1: AirPods on set because they're like have a real thick
- 19:49Speaker 1: white core.
- 19:50Speaker 2: They're very generic. They were distracting. I didn't even notice that.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Happens twice. Did you happen to notice his glasses always
- 19:59Speaker 2: hanging on his shirt? Never on his face? Never noticed.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Always on his shirt. Like, you know, he's like the
- 20:04Speaker 2: director-producer guy who's always got to take his glasses out
- 20:06Speaker 2: to read a script or something, always hanging on a shirt.
- 20:09Speaker 2: That's funny. Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 1: At one point, when he has the car accident with Callie,
- 20:17Speaker 1: she's like, you came flying in here. And then later on,
- 20:20Speaker 1: I believe it's the boyfriend who says like, oh, you're
- 20:24Speaker 1: the one who hit Callie.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And he says, hit, flying, a lot of adjectives flying
- 20:29Speaker 1: around here. Those are verbs, jackass.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I didn't know that. Where is the continuity person on
- 20:43Speaker 2: this production team? Hello, writers. Those are verbs. Wouldn't there
- 20:48Speaker 2: be somebody to check that? I mean... That's hilarious. Hilarious. Okay,
- 20:57Speaker 2: there was one scene where the dog who was so
- 21:01Speaker 2: cute and named george jones which is adorable but like
- 21:06Speaker 2: i think the dog pooped or something and he brought
- 21:09Speaker 2: in like a bag of poop and gives it to
- 21:12Speaker 2: callie across the bar he's like here i have a
- 21:14Speaker 2: gift from your dog and she's like thanks and they're
- 21:18Speaker 2: like talking and she's like holding it on the bar
- 21:21Speaker 2: right and then he's like can i have a cup
- 21:24Speaker 2: of coffee she's like sure and then she goes and
- 21:25Speaker 2: makes a cup of coffee like doesn't wash her hands
- 21:29Speaker 2: nothing i was like gross Gross. Gross.
- 21:33Speaker 1: No dogs in the restaurant kitchen, please. And he like
- 21:36Speaker 1: jumps up and puts his paws on the stove. That's
- 21:39Speaker 1: very dangerous.
- 21:40Speaker 2: That's gross. Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 1: When Dan and Willa go on a hike, Dan wears
- 21:44Speaker 1: jeans and a tucked in shirt.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I would wear. So uncomfortable.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I mean, they did set the zine that he's not
- 21:52Speaker 1: a hiker. So obviously he did not come with his joggers.
- 21:56Speaker 2: They were passing through, man. They were passing through. Yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 2: And The Dan and Willa, like, side story was not needed. No,
- 22:05Speaker 2: but I liked Dan. No, I thought he was... Stan
- 22:09Speaker 2: or Dan? I wrote Dan.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I liked him. I thought he was funny. I just...
- 22:14Speaker 2: They don't need that rando, off-topic side story of opening whatever. Like,
- 22:19Speaker 2: I don't know. What did they talk about? Did they
- 22:21Speaker 2: open a bakery?
- 22:23Speaker 1: What?
- 22:23Speaker 2: They were talking about opening some bakery.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I don't remember that at all.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I just like their relationship. I don't remember that at all.
- 22:28Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 22:29Speaker 1: When... Jillian is getting her surprise. She hands her phone
- 22:34Speaker 1: to Luke and she's like.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Shoot from above.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And then he's like three steps below and shooting up
- 22:38Speaker 1: at her. I was like, way to take direction, Luke. Also,
- 22:42Speaker 1: did you notice that Jillian's movie was Fall Harvest?
- 22:45Speaker 2: I did. I thought that was so funny because it
- 22:48Speaker 2: was on her truck or whatever.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Car ride. Yeah. I thought that was kind of like
- 22:55Speaker 2: a wink and a nod.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and I also was like, is she starring in
- 22:58Speaker 1: one of the other Fall Harvest movies?
- 22:59Speaker 2: Oh, wouldn't that be hilarious? I looked, but she's not.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Oh, bummer.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Bummer. Oh, my last, did you see that?
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's really just an issue with the movie, and that
- 23:09Speaker 1: is that a shoebox is a terrible place to leave
- 23:11Speaker 1: the one and only copy of your famous barbecue sauce recipe.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Well, that's where she'd find it, though. But how did he.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Know she was going to go back to her shoebox
- 23:19Speaker 1: of memories from her old boyfriend?
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 23:22Speaker 1: That could have laid dormant for years.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I would have thrown that crap out, like, eventually. It
- 23:30Speaker 2: was weird. There was a part where they're like, oh,
- 23:33Speaker 2: this is store-bought barbecue sauce. But then on the table,
- 23:38Speaker 2: they were putting bottled Tucker sauce. And I was, like,
- 23:43Speaker 2: super confused. Like, They still have bottles of the Tucker sauce,
- 23:48Speaker 2: but if you order a meal, that's not the sauce
- 23:50Speaker 2: you're getting. I mean, these are stupid details that I noticed,
- 23:56Speaker 2: but I just thought the barbecue sauce storyline was weird.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I hear you. All right.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Also, I don't believe you that in a restaurant nobody
- 24:06Speaker 1: ever knew the recipe. Give me a break. Grandpa made
- 24:08Speaker 1: this recipe for every.
- 24:09Speaker 2: No.
- 24:10Speaker 1: No.
- 24:11Speaker 2: All right. What?
- 24:12Speaker 1: What?
- 24:14Speaker 2: Would you rate this movie? I gave it three stars.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I gave it three stars also. I didn't think it
- 24:19Speaker 2: was bad. I actually had started it and kind of
- 24:24Speaker 2: like got sucked into my phone. And then I was like,
- 24:27Speaker 2: wait a minute, I kind of like this. And so
- 24:29Speaker 2: I started it from the beginning.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Again and rewatched it and enjoyed it.
- 24:33Speaker 2: First of all, did you notice the previews at all? No,
- 24:37Speaker 2: you didn't see any commercials, did you? I didn't see
- 24:39Speaker 2: previews for the next movie. Hold on a second. It's
- 24:41Speaker 2: taking the reigns. A writer discovers what ended her marriage
- 24:45Speaker 2: and why she stopped riding horses. It stars an actor
- 24:49Speaker 2: named Scott Porter. Do you know who that is? Friday
- 24:52Speaker 2: Night Lights? Jason Street. Put some hotties in a Hallmark movie.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I'm all over it. Yeah. I love him. I follow
- 25:03Speaker 2: him on Instagram. He was in that Georgia and I
- 25:07Speaker 2: don't remember the name of it, but it was on Netflix, Georgia.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Ginny and Georgia. Ginny and Georgia. I really liked him
- 25:12Speaker 2: in that. He was in that show that you liked.
- 25:16Speaker 2: That's helpful. Dixie something or other. Dixie. Heart of Dixie. Oh, yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 2: He was in that show. I loved Heart of Dixie.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I'm super excited. When the commercial came
- 25:28Speaker 2: on screen, I went, what?
- 25:31Speaker 1: If you're a Hallmark movie watcher, just a side note,
- 25:34Speaker 1: you would love Heart of Dixie.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Great CW show.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I mean, like, if you're a prude Hallmark movie watcher
- 25:40Speaker 1: who thinks, like, sometimes the kisses are too extreme.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Don't watch it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Because it's, like, it's CW. It's not, you know, Cinemax.
- 25:49Speaker 1: But it's more extreme than Hallmark. Great show. I... Would
- 25:53Speaker 1: rewatch the entire thing. Such a soothing, nice show to watch.
- 25:56Speaker 2: All right. All right, guys. I'm all in on Fall Harvest, man.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 26:00Speaker 1: What is the name of next week's movie? Oh, I'm sorry.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Starring Juan Pablo De Pace. It is called Raise a
- 26:10Speaker 2: Glass to Love. And here we go again with the
- 26:13Speaker 2: song titles. Raise a glass to freedom.
- 26:17Speaker 1: What other movie song title did we have?
- 26:19Speaker 2: On the Wings of... Yes, but that's not what it
- 26:23Speaker 2: was called. Either. It was called Journey of My Heart,
- 26:28Speaker 2: but originally titled On the Wings of Eagles or something
- 26:34Speaker 2: like that. Okay. Sorry.
- 26:36Speaker 1: If you haven't listened to last week's episode, Wendy gives
- 26:39Speaker 1: a musical rendition of the song that She was reminded of, so.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And next week we'll have Hamilton, so. Stay tuned, guys.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Raise a Glass to Love, starring Fernando from Fuller House.
- 26:53Speaker 2: All right, guys. Have a great week. Goodbye.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Bye.
- 26:55Speaker 2: On the wings of love.
- 27:08Speaker 1: All right, friends, before we go, just a quick heads up.
- 27:11Speaker 1: You're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 27:13Speaker 1: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 27:16Speaker 1: So do with that info what you will. Grab a snack,
- 27:20Speaker 1: hit the skip button, or maybe, just maybe, listen in
- 27:23Speaker 1: and discover your new favorite product.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Bye.
