Wirkkala Convicted in Park Shooting | Portland News
A jury just convicted Joseph Andrew Wirkkala on multiple charges including second-degree murder and attempted murder following a deadly shooting at Wallace Marine Park in August 2025. The victim, 60-year-old Jacob Collazo, died from his injuries. Wirkkala, who was already on transitional leave from prison and had an active arrest warrant, was apprehended the same day. The shooting is linked to a domestic violence situation. After a three-day trial, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts, including assault and weapons charges.
