- 0:03Speaker 1: It's been a busy morning at the Emerald Lake Hotel
- 0:06Speaker 1: and Spa, but things have finally quieted down. Madam Manager
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Haley can take a little break. But this break
- 0:13Speaker 1: will only be RESTful for one of them. A misheard
- 0:17Speaker 1: conversation turns into a chance to exercise faith. Let's head
- 0:22Speaker 1: into the hotel for today's mini adventure called the Dishonest Manager.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Last guest is checked out for the morning. Take a
- 0:32Speaker 2: little break, Hayley.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Oh thanks, mother Manager. Oh my feet sore. I'll just
- 0:37Speaker 3: tidy up my area.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Listen to the quarters jingle.
- 0:42Speaker 3: The quarters. Oh yeah, listen.
- 0:45Speaker 4: See I told you people don't mind giving a little
- 0:49Speaker 4: like a quarter.
- 0:51Speaker 3: You were right, Mother Manager. Pretty soon this little box
- 0:54Speaker 3: will be full of quarters.
- 0:56Speaker 4: That will make for a nice contribution to the Summer
- 0:58Speaker 4: camp funds.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Really nice that we're helping kids go to summer camp
- 1:02Speaker 5: who can't afford it.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Well, ever since the one Christmas dinner to help high
- 1:07Speaker 4: risk youth, my eyes have been opened.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's pretty good to help kids who need it. Personally,
- 1:14Speaker 5: I appreciate what people have done for Kyler and me.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I know, Hailey, you are a wonderful protege.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Thanks bad Manager. I'll dick my break now, I'll wait
- 1:28Speaker 3: here for you. Oh, Chaplin, Jake's here.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Go on and say hello.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Okay, Chaplin Jake, what are you doing here?
- 1:38Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:39Speaker 5: Hi?
- 1:40Speaker 6: Natasha's buying a gift card at the spa for her mom.
- 1:42Speaker 6: I'm just waiting.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Oh well, I'm on a break. Can I ask you
- 1:46Speaker 5: about my Bible homework?
- 1:48Speaker 6: A sure thing, Hailey Chaplin is never off duty.
- 1:53Speaker 5: I didn't really understand the peerable we were reading in
- 1:56Speaker 5: Luke chapter sixteen.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I think it was, yeah, the parable.
- 2:00Speaker 6: It's the dishonest manager. It's pretty hard to understand it.
- 2:03Speaker 1: First, as Haley asked her question, Madam manager walked toward them.
- 2:08Speaker 1: She was going to say hello, but stopped dead in
- 2:11Speaker 1: her tracks when she heard this.
- 2:14Speaker 3: The dishonest manager is very difficult to understand.
- 2:18Speaker 2: What the dishonest manager? Moah, what does it mean.
- 2:23Speaker 3: To be faithful in the little things? The manager is
- 2:26Speaker 3: dishonest in the little things?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Ah, dishonest little little the quarters. I'm not being dishonest.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Little things are really big things. If a person can't
- 2:38Speaker 6: be honest and taking care of something small, then can
- 2:41Speaker 6: you really trust them with bigger things? Bigger things like
- 2:44Speaker 6: what well things that are more valuable in God's eyes.
- 2:47Speaker 6: If we're not honest with small things, then can we
- 2:50Speaker 6: really be trusted with bigger responsibilities.
- 2:52Speaker 3: The manager isn't honest with the little things, so.
- 2:55Speaker 5: I guess not, well, I never And if you're not
- 2:59Speaker 5: faithful with money, what does it mean to be unfeiful
- 3:02Speaker 5: and true riches?
- 3:03Speaker 4: It is about money, But I'm collecting quotas to help
- 3:07Speaker 4: at risk children.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Well, to God, our money is a little thing. True
- 3:12Speaker 6: riches are things that matter in eternity.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Like telling people about God and helping them to be saved.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, That's what I want the children at some
- 3:20Speaker 4: account to experience.
- 3:21Speaker 5: And if the manager isn't faithful with someone else's money,
- 3:25Speaker 5: they won't receive their own riches, will they.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I'm not after my own riches. I'm not after my
- 3:31Speaker 4: own riches. Oh I a manager? Oh hello JKB P Donovan?
- 3:38Speaker 2: How are you today? And having a good conversation with
- 3:43Speaker 2: my uh my.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Bro now the manager?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Are you all right, Haley? I thought that you liked
- 3:53Speaker 2: learning the hotel business from me.
- 3:55Speaker 6: I thought you'd like to be mentoring you.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I I'm confused. Why are you crying? Natasha?
- 4:05Speaker 3: Rescue me?
- 4:06Speaker 4: Because I thought that you'd liked me, Haley, not that
- 4:09Speaker 4: you thought I was dishonest.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Dishonest, But Madame Manager, were you heaves dropping?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Do you mean listening in on your conversation? Well, in
- 4:24Speaker 2: our conversation, oh, Haley.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Tell her, Madame Manager, Chaplin, Jake and I were just
- 4:30Speaker 5: talking about my Bible homework.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Oh, what's the assignment? How does dishonest?
- 4:39Speaker 3: No, no, no, math manager.
- 4:41Speaker 5: It's about Luke Chapter sixteen and the parable of the
- 4:45Speaker 5: dishonest manager, the Terrible Yes, a story Jesus told her boy,
- 4:52Speaker 5: the manager who waste his boss's money.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It's confusing.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Oh, so you were talking about that's story.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yes, Oh, Haley, I thought that you were talking about
- 5:05Speaker 4: me and my little things, my quarters for the summer campers.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, no, that's a good thing.
- 5:13Speaker 4: You're doing well, I thought so helping children to go
- 5:16Speaker 4: to camp and learn about Jesus.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Now that's true, Riches, putting her effort into things that
- 5:22Speaker 6: will last for eternity.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Mad a Manager, you're the opposite of a dishonest manager.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I am.
- 5:28Speaker 3: You're an honest manager and a wonderful Boston mentor.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I I am aren't I?
- 5:36Speaker 4: Oh, how could I be so silly, of course I am, Hey, I.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Think I have some quarters?
- 5:45Speaker 4: I do oh, run on over and put them in
- 5:48Speaker 4: the box on the counter.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Can I just give them to you?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Of course not, My protege and I are on a break.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Okay, Well you're of Jacob the idea and grab Usa, Natasha,
- 6:02Speaker 4: how rescue me?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Well, man and manager really got the wrong idea from
- 6:11Speaker 1: Hayley and chaplain Jake's conversation. That can happen when we
- 6:15Speaker 1: only hear part of what someone's talking about.
- 6:18Speaker 2: The good news is.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Our honest manager really is faithful in small things and
- 6:24Speaker 1: is helping make a difference for kids telling them about Jesus.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Has God asked you to.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Take care of a small thing for him, like helping
- 6:33Speaker 1: to collect the offering at church, or maybe feeding the
- 6:36Speaker 1: animals at home, or helping your younger sibling onto the
- 6:40Speaker 1: school bus. Those little things are big. Do them faithfully,
- 6:45Speaker 1: and God will give you more and more to do
- 6:47Speaker 1: for him. He'll keep exercising your faith. I'm miss Jean,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and you've been listening to a mini adventure in Discovery Mountain,

- 6:59Speaker 1: imagine nation, and where every day is an exercise in faith.
