- 0:00Speaker 1: I didn't tell you that this podcast is so blowing up.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's so on fire that they've asked Donald Faison and
- 0:06Speaker 1: I to go on the view.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I hope I get to talk to Whoopie.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Well, you're old friends with Whoopie. She was in Homieespimoni.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we did a movie together. It was great. I
- 0:14Speaker 2: have some apologies to make to her. I have to apologize,
- 0:18Speaker 2: like profusely to her.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Don't embarrass us in front of Whoopie.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Bro I won't embarrass us in front of Whoopee. But
- 0:22Speaker 2: I was like a little punk back in the day,
- 0:24Speaker 2: like I was scared of I was so scared of
- 0:27Speaker 2: celebrities and getting to know actors who I was, you
- 0:30Speaker 2: know who I loved, like Whoopy Goldberg is one of
- 0:35Speaker 2: my top five, Like she inspired me as a youth
- 0:39Speaker 2: and too yeah, like Jumping Jack Flash. You know, uh,
- 0:43Speaker 2: there's so many.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Before all that. Dude. When I saw the color Purple
- 0:46Speaker 1: when I was a kid, and I thought I didn't
- 0:48Speaker 1: know anything about acting, but I said, that is one
- 0:51Speaker 1: of the best actresses I've ever seen.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Absolutely I cried and are you kidding me?
- 0:55Speaker 3: I was.
- 0:57Speaker 2: For the first time ever in a movie when.
- 1:00Speaker 1: They pulled the sisters apart.
- 1:01Speaker 4: When they pulled apart me and you us never part
- 1:06Speaker 4: Mackey dad Oh.
- 1:08Speaker 1: My gosh, I could cry right now.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I could now Ain't no mountain, Ain't no c Mackey
- 1:15Speaker 2: dad key, my sister away from me, Mackey Dada. And
- 1:21Speaker 2: the fact that she went to her sister, went to
- 1:23Speaker 2: live with her kids, Adam and Olivia, that was even
- 1:26Speaker 2: more special. Man, it was just that's one of those movies.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I could get tears in my eyes with you recounting.
- 1:31Speaker 1: If you haven't seen The Color Purple, it is a
- 1:33Speaker 1: fucking masterpiece. Stevenry, Steven Spielberg.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Music by Quincy Jones. Yes, and Spielberg always used John Williams.
- 1:44Speaker 2: This was the one of the first times that he
- 1:46Speaker 2: didn't use John Williams and used Quincy Jones instead.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Well, that's good trivia and whoopy Goldberg's performance is unbelievable.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And Oprah Winfrey, Oprah Renfrey, she get not I know
- 1:58Speaker 1: she got nominated on she won the Auf Curve for that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Point, nobody from the Color Purple.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Who could have beat Joelle? I am so sorry to
- 2:06Speaker 1: start right off the bat, but who could have beaten
- 2:09Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey's performance in the color purple? Who is this person?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Who is this thespian?
- 2:14Speaker 2: That one? Is that? That? That my favorite saying. You
- 2:17Speaker 2: told Harpo to beat me. Oh my life. I had
- 2:22Speaker 2: to fight. I had to fight my brothers, I had
- 2:25Speaker 2: to fight my daddy. I never thought I'd have to
- 2:28Speaker 2: fight in my own house. Hmm. God the nowsa dude,
- 2:37Speaker 2: but I killed dead?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Oh my god. Come on, you just got me all
- 2:44Speaker 1: riled up about color purple?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Sorry, brother, what I'm Danny?
- 2:48Speaker 1: Excuse me?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Danny Glover, Yeah, Danny Glover.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I mean, there's just I agree with you. It was
- 2:53Speaker 1: one of the first times I like sobbed in a
- 2:55Speaker 1: movie and I was a little kid, and I was
- 2:57Speaker 1: just like, just like, wow, this guy.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I remember my mom tapping my dad and being like
- 3:05Speaker 2: the baby's sheon's crying, My baby's crying at that part, Yeah,
- 3:10Speaker 2: me and you us never part. And when she teaches
- 3:13Speaker 2: her how to read, and then of course at the
- 3:15Speaker 2: end when her sister comes back, when she finds the letters.
- 3:19Speaker 1: When she's signing the letters, when she finds the letters.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But when I think of, like, you know, sometimes they
- 3:24Speaker 1: think about the movies that have made me cry the
- 3:26Speaker 1: most I always think of those two sisters being torn
- 3:30Speaker 1: apart in the color purple.
- 3:32Speaker 2: That and one of my favorite moments in that whole
- 3:34Speaker 2: movie is when Sugar Avery played by Margaret uh finally
- 3:39Speaker 2: has lightened up to miss Cely and she's written a
- 3:43Speaker 2: song with her band called Miss Ceely's Blues and they
- 3:46Speaker 2: play it at the juke joint.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Sister, you've been oh my mind. Oh sister, we're too
- 3:57Speaker 3: of a kind. So, sister, I'm keeping my eye on you.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That song is cier and that was the Quincy Jones
- 4:12Speaker 1: right then.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, man, this is all Quincy Jones, the whole soundtrack,
- 4:15Speaker 2: Quincy Jones Q sister you lot me, oh mama, okay, okay.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I can't do it like you. I mean, come on,
- 4:25Speaker 1: I know that's nobody could.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Nobody could do it like Margaret sug Abrien. Hey should
- 4:29Speaker 2: we say get into it? Fine? Si?
- 4:33Speaker 5: Stories about show we made about a bunch of times
- 4:39Speaker 5: and nurses and janitor.
- 4:41Speaker 2: You said, here's the stories nels.
- 4:45Speaker 1: No, so gader round here, yeader round here?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Up we aso?
- 4:53Speaker 6: Is that?
- 4:57Speaker 1: So much love for for the theme song, Donald lot
- 5:00Speaker 1: to love and on our on our instagrams for for
- 5:03Speaker 1: so many things Bill and his five six, seven eighths and.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So much love. I didn't realize that there were that
- 5:09Speaker 2: few Peloton instructors, so a lot of people were like,
- 5:13Speaker 2: oh man, you had such and such.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Oh really, who it was? I thought there were dozens
- 5:16Speaker 1: of them.
- 5:17Speaker 2: No, I guess, not I guess, or I guess the
- 5:19Speaker 2: one I described.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It was very specific, very specific. You didn't really leave
- 5:24Speaker 1: much mystery. Did you work out today? I see you're
- 5:26Speaker 1: all sweating up there.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I did work out today. I found a new instructor.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Oh good, you know you can? You can pat down
- 5:32Speaker 1: your head before we do the podcast.
- 5:33Speaker 2: That's all I did. I shower, I showered and everything.
- 5:36Speaker 2: This is that afterglow. This is that freaking Bruce what
- 5:39Speaker 2: Bruce Lee wored was searching for at the end of
- 5:41Speaker 2: the Last Dragon. I got that going right now?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Oh really, why don't you pull some sweatpants off the
- 5:46Speaker 1: rack and pat your forehead now? And I can't look
- 5:48Speaker 1: at that for an hour?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Does it make you uncomfortable?
- 5:51Speaker 7: No?
- 5:52Speaker 1: But you need like what do you when you know
- 5:53Speaker 1: when the rappers always carry a washcloth? You and I
- 5:59Speaker 1: got into big years ago. Go about how you said
- 6:01Speaker 1: that African American people always bring a washcloth into the shower.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we did get into a debate about this.
- 6:08Speaker 1: And I said that I've never used a washcloth in
- 6:10Speaker 1: the shower, and you said, you said, you said, every
- 6:13Speaker 1: black person I know brings a washcloth in the shower.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Most black people use washcloth, Joel, can you weigh in
- 6:19Speaker 2: on this, she said, knodding her hair yet.
- 6:22Speaker 6: Yeah, Black Twitter, when we learned that people do not
- 6:25Speaker 6: wash their legs, they were very loud about the use
- 6:28Speaker 6: of washcloth and try to inform a lot of people
- 6:30Speaker 6: with many races that you could always just take a
- 6:32Speaker 6: cloth in there and really scrub, like like.
- 6:34Speaker 2: What does your hand do that thing that has like
- 6:37Speaker 2: friction that is made for friction when wet.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So, as you're married to a Caucasian woman, do you
- 6:43Speaker 1: use cloth and she doesn't.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Know she uses a washcloth? My wife is Southern. Hold on, now,
- 6:49Speaker 2: let's not forget that my wife is Southern. There's a
- 6:51Speaker 2: lot of things that Southern white people, even though they
- 6:55Speaker 2: might have issues with black people, do exactly the same
- 6:58Speaker 2: thing people do.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Well, if you're listening, we want to know, no matter
- 7:04Speaker 1: what your ethnicity, if you use a wash cloth in
- 7:07Speaker 1: the shower, please us up on Instagram and let us
- 7:11Speaker 1: know if if you're washing now now you said washing
- 7:14Speaker 1: your legs, jo, Well, I definitely think that I neglect
- 7:16Speaker 1: my legs in the shower. You know, I throw a
- 7:20Speaker 1: little something down there, But I don't like get in
- 7:22Speaker 1: there with a wash clo.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You need to get in there with a wash cloth.
- 7:25Speaker 1: What about your toes? Do you clean your toes?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah? Man, you clean your whole body with it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It is.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Don't hold on, don't go to the ass and the
- 7:33Speaker 2: genitals right away. Wash your body.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Save that for the end.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You save that for the end.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yes, So you have to replace the wash cloth each shower, Well,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I mean because you got to. You might have a
- 7:43Speaker 1: little dodo on it if you get in there deep,
- 7:48Speaker 1: if you get in there and then you come back
- 7:51Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you're righting. Do do all
- 7:52Speaker 1: of your eggs?
- 8:02Speaker 6: No?
- 8:02Speaker 2: No, no, but that listen. It all depends on how
- 8:04Speaker 2: well you wipe your ass too though. Okay, so if
- 8:06Speaker 2: you got doodo in the crack your ass when your showering, I.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Feel no matter how well you wipe, if you stick
- 8:11Speaker 1: a washcloth, you know, a quarter of an inch in
- 8:13Speaker 1: your aus, you're gonna get a little poo on it,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and I don't want to put that on my legs.
- 8:17Speaker 2: So let me get this straight. When you are washing
- 8:20Speaker 2: your body, you stick your finger a quarter of an
- 8:22Speaker 2: inch in you.
- 8:23Speaker 1: No, I'm saying if I had no, I don't. But
- 8:25Speaker 1: I'm saying, if I had a washcloth, if I have
- 8:28Speaker 1: the barrier mitt of a washcloth, I would probably inspired.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'd be inspired to get in there and just get
- 8:33Speaker 1: the inner rim a little. No, you know, No, No,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Joelle is the test audience, and she's cracking up. Listen, listen.
- 8:46Speaker 1: When I clean my sink, donald for the most time,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I just you know, I clean the bottom of the sink,
- 8:50Speaker 1: get all the stuff to go in the drain. Like
- 8:52Speaker 1: once a week, I take a scrub and I really
- 8:55Speaker 1: get the rim of the drain hole. So I'm talking
- 8:59Speaker 1: about that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh, got it, got it, got it, got it. So
- 9:04Speaker 2: let me get this straight. You'll wash your dishes, the
- 9:06Speaker 2: things that you eat off of, with something right that's
- 9:10Speaker 2: not your hand.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yes, So you're inspiring me. Both you and Joel are
- 9:13Speaker 1: making me think that I got to change this up.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I'm forty five years old. I'm going to change my
- 9:17Speaker 1: whole shower routine.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Man, We've had this conversation for a very long time,
- 9:20Speaker 2: I know, and I haven't changed it yet.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I know, well I have done it. I've gone through
- 9:23Speaker 1: periods where I where where I where I bring a
- 9:26Speaker 1: wahcloth in, But then I'm like, oh, I gotta change
- 9:27Speaker 1: in each shower. That's a lot of wash cloths.
- 9:29Speaker 2: What about like one of those scrub puffs or like
- 9:31Speaker 2: one of those a loofaofa a loofa.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm not trying to put a loof of
- 9:35Speaker 1: between my cheeks scratch my shirt up.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Oh, I'm sorry everybody. I hope you're listening on earphones.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I hope you're listening on earphones and not out loud.
- 9:50Speaker 1: By the way, I gotta tell you, I'm listening to
- 9:51Speaker 1: I'm watching the funniest fucking show. I gotta give this
- 9:53Speaker 1: show a shout out. And also because it's on Hulu.
- 9:57Speaker 1: One of our sponsors they love this called Dave and
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's Little Dicky. It's Little Dickie. I didn't know anything
- 10:04Speaker 1: about Little Dickie.
- 10:05Speaker 2: You haven't heard. I woke up. Then Chris Brown's body No, oh,
- 10:11Speaker 2: he has a song with him and Chris Brown where
- 10:13Speaker 2: he wakes up one day and he's Chris Brown and
- 10:16Speaker 2: Chris Brown is him.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch. I'm gonna watch all the videos.
- 10:19Speaker 2: But dude, you have to watch Freaky Friday.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You have to watch Joelle. Have you seen this show?
- 10:24Speaker 1: You guys have to watch the show. It is so
- 10:26Speaker 1: fucking funny.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Ye, and then Dicky is funny.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Man, it's a but Donald. You will love it. It's
- 10:30Speaker 1: our totally our sense of humor. I didn't know. I
- 10:33Speaker 1: didn't know this guy at all. I'm sorry that I'm
- 10:35Speaker 1: not hiptote little Dickie. I've seen the billboards are all
- 10:37Speaker 1: over LA. I didn't even like the billboards. No offense
- 10:39Speaker 1: to the advertising camp.
- 10:40Speaker 2: You didn't like little Dicky hanging out of underwear.
- 10:43Speaker 6: No.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I was like, I saw that billboard, which is all
- 10:46Speaker 1: over Los Angeles. It's little Dickie hanging out of a
- 10:48Speaker 1: pair of boxers like he's a penis. And I did not.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I was like, that's definitely not for me. And then
- 10:55Speaker 1: enough people start, including Bill Lawrence and uh and somebody
- 10:58Speaker 1: else told me about the show. We binged it. It
- 11:01Speaker 1: is so fucking funny. We were sad it was over. Wow,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and it's heartfelt. It's one of those things, you know,
- 11:07Speaker 1: like you know obviously like the show we're talking about
- 11:09Speaker 1: where you're laughing at something so preposterous one minute, and
- 11:11Speaker 1: then they find a way to put put hard into it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And he talks all about how fucked up his penises
- 11:17Speaker 1: and we were like, you know, it can't be that bad.
- 11:20Speaker 6: No.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I literally I turned to Mike Gallon, I said, do
- 11:23Speaker 1: you think this is all fiction? Or is he really
- 11:25Speaker 1: have this messed up a penis? He doesn't mean small,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean it's small, but also like born with like
- 11:29Speaker 1: birth defects that he had to have fixed and which
- 11:31Speaker 1: messed it up more. And so right before this podcast,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I was googling. I was like embarrassing, laughing at myself.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm like, is little Dickie's dick really fucked up? And
- 11:40Speaker 1: I found this article Like yeah, he was like, no, bullshit.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He was born with all these problems with it and
- 11:44Speaker 1: he had to have it repaired, and the repairs caused
- 11:47Speaker 1: more problems. And he said it was like a super
- 11:49Speaker 1: soaker and the pea was coming out to two holes
- 11:52Speaker 1: and he has to plug one with his finger when
- 11:54Speaker 1: he's at a urinal and all this crazy shit go,
- 11:57Speaker 1: oh my gosh, he's got a problem. Penis.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Little Dicky is a pretty he's a he's a very
- 12:04Speaker 2: good rapper, and he's a very good basketball player too.
- 12:07Speaker 1: He's very I know that's in the show, and he's
- 12:10Speaker 1: very funny and all of a sudden, you know who's
- 12:12Speaker 1: hysterical on the show is uh Benny Blanco plays himself
- 12:17Speaker 1: and he's hilarious. I mean, I've never seen the guy
- 12:20Speaker 1: act before and he's just the natural. I mean, you
- 12:22Speaker 1: cast him in in a show that had nothing to
- 12:23Speaker 1: do with playing himself and bier Bieber does a cameo. Anyway,
- 12:27Speaker 1: that's my long plug for Dave. You guys, I think
- 12:29Speaker 1: that if I'm Dave Yeah, Hi, I'm Dave Donald. I'm
- 12:34Speaker 1: telling you you're gonna watch this when we hang up today, Joelle,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you two you guys will crack.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Up when we're done with the podcast and I put
- 12:40Speaker 2: the kids down tonight.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely not for It's definitely not for your
- 12:44Speaker 1: kids because it's super r rated. But it's funny. Shit,
- 12:47Speaker 1: there's amazing supporting cast and it sounds like I'm like,
- 12:51Speaker 1: was paid to do an ad for it. But I'm
- 12:52Speaker 1: just sharing with you that I loved.
- 12:53Speaker 7: It right on.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Should we get into our show.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Let's get into the show.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Awesome, Awesome, we're talking about got My Drug Buddy, My
- 13:02Speaker 2: drug Buddy.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Great episode. Michael spiller Is is back as director, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: Matt one of our favorites. Matt Tarsus is what we
- 13:11Speaker 1: we Jews call a mensh just a really sweet heart
- 13:16Speaker 1: of a human being. And Matt Tarsus and I made
- 13:19Speaker 1: a TV show. It's gonna be a whole. It's all
- 13:21Speaker 1: gonna come full circle. We made a TV show called
- 13:24Speaker 1: alex Inc. That only went ten episodes because you know,
- 13:27Speaker 1: it didn't really click with the fans and didn't work.
- 13:30Speaker 1: But we worked on it together and it was about
- 13:32Speaker 1: making a podcast, and now here I made a podcast
- 13:36Speaker 1: with you, and the podcast we made is more successful
- 13:38Speaker 1: on the darn TV show we made.
- 13:40Speaker 2: That's that's sometimes how it works out, Buddy.
- 13:42Speaker 7: I know.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Now we're going on the view and that right now
- 13:44Speaker 2: we're going on a view for a podcast. I haven't
- 13:46Speaker 2: been on the view ever.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Really, you're going on the view for a podcast. Yeah, yeah, Well,
- 13:52Speaker 1: don't get into a fight with Megan McCain. You know
- 13:53Speaker 1: she gets all riled up.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I'm not I don't talk politics.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yea, and me too.
- 13:58Speaker 6: We not.
- 13:59Speaker 1: We're not to talk any politics. We don't want anyone
- 14:01Speaker 1: mad at us.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Well, it's not that I don't want anyone mad at
- 14:04Speaker 2: it at me. I don't want to get mad at
- 14:06Speaker 2: anyone else.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I just don't want to let people get all riled up.
- 14:09Speaker 1: That's why I don't do politics on here. I don't
- 14:11Speaker 1: do politics on Instagram.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I hate it. I hope wasting that energy on somebody
- 14:16Speaker 2: and having to listen to people's, uh, their opinions. That's
- 14:23Speaker 2: my opinion, my opinion, Bam in your face.
- 14:26Speaker 1: That's why I'm barely even reading Twitter anymore, because it's
- 14:29Speaker 1: just the most It's like the most agro insane place
- 14:33Speaker 1: if you were if it were a town, you would
- 14:36Speaker 1: never go to that town.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Ever you get into a fight, it'd be the town
- 14:40Speaker 2: that you go to when you're ready to fight. Listen,
- 14:42Speaker 2: So this one's called my drug buddy. Great artis great episode.
- 14:46Speaker 2: You know what I noticed though, is that I didn't
- 14:48Speaker 2: laugh out loud that much, but I still had great feelings.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Like when the show was over, I was still like,
- 14:53Speaker 2: that was such a good episode. But I didn't have moments.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Rather, we didn't laugh out loud. You didn't laugh aloud
- 14:58Speaker 1: when kelseol Judy's trying to get in the car and
- 15:00Speaker 1: Kelsel rolls down the window like a quarter inch. That
- 15:03Speaker 1: shit was hilarious.
- 15:04Speaker 2: No, I didn't laugh at that, you know I did laugh.
- 15:06Speaker 2: There was one moment where I laughed out loud. What
- 15:09Speaker 2: you owe me twenty bucks made me laugh so hard. Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 2: that was when the janitor comes up at the end,
- 15:14Speaker 2: after you've gotten you know, after you and.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Let's about what about don't look no, no, no, yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Well I've seen you do that for I've seen you
- 15:22Speaker 2: do that for twenty something years now, since I met you.
- 15:25Speaker 2: You've been doing that.
- 15:27Speaker 1: That's my shit. Everyone, Yeah, that is I was not
- 15:29Speaker 1: That was not written by the legendary Bill Lawrence or
- 15:32Speaker 1: this men she met Tarsis. You've heard about hiding nipples
- 15:36Speaker 1: all me. Okay, So you taste like eggs. So we wait,
- 15:41Speaker 1: we see we wake up next to that, we still
- 15:43Speaker 1: haven't had sex. JD and an Alex. That's the point
- 15:47Speaker 1: of the episode, is we we never done the deed.
- 15:51Speaker 1: We wake up. She says, I taste like old eggs,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and she likes she likes old eggs. Do you remember
- 15:57Speaker 1: you've been in a relationship forever, But do you remember
- 15:59Speaker 1: trying to hold your your morning breath from somebody new?
- 16:02Speaker 6: No?
- 16:03Speaker 1: Never, no, Oh, I always do. I always did. You
- 16:06Speaker 1: know back when you know when something's new and you're like,
- 16:08Speaker 1: you don't want them to think like you pooh, you fart,
- 16:10Speaker 1: you you ever could have bad breath. You're like trying
- 16:13Speaker 1: to present the best version of yourself.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Now, what you see is what you get. Really, Yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 2: and I am I and and and that sometimes is
- 16:21Speaker 2: a problem. I'm who I am from the beginning to
- 16:25Speaker 2: the end of the relationship. So what makes you better,
- 16:30Speaker 2: what makes you fall for me is the same thing
- 16:32Speaker 2: as the reason why you broke up with me? Most
- 16:34Speaker 2: likely all of this. Oh he has potential ship No no, no, no,
- 16:38Speaker 2: it stops at the door you walk in. It's bullshit.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Though you've been fixed up, you were Casey fixed your
- 16:43Speaker 1: ass up a bit.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Kate, Well, Casey's a different story. I said from
- 16:47Speaker 2: the beginning to the end. I'm still in this.
- 16:49Speaker 1: So you're still a work in progress, is what you're saying.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Look, and I've done what JD's done before too, where
- 16:55Speaker 2: I've watched you know, my wife's sleep and just looked
- 16:58Speaker 2: at her like, well, I can't believe she's my romantic.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I've done that a couple of times. I'm not gonna lie.
- 17:05Speaker 2: And then there's a times rab.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Casey listened to the podcast.
- 17:07Speaker 2: By the way, no, of course not. The only time
- 17:10Speaker 2: Casey listens to the podcast is when I'm like, I
- 17:13Speaker 2: talked about you on the podcast and she's like, oh
- 17:15Speaker 2: you did did you let me listen to the podcast?
- 17:17Speaker 1: Well, she's gonna love what you just said. That was
- 17:19Speaker 1: very romantic.
- 17:20Speaker 2: It's the truth.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Oh that's sweet. How about this monkey? How about this monkey?
- 17:23Speaker 1: In the March? Bill was so into weird animals. I
- 17:28Speaker 1: mean we had we always had weird animals on the show.
- 17:31Speaker 2: But I love it. I love monkeys.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I love I love monkeys too. And I don't know why.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I guess that monkey was not performing because he's so
- 17:37Speaker 1: sped up. It's like weird, Like, I guess he you know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: it's a lot to ask a monkey to clap cymbals,
- 17:42Speaker 1: but but he did it.
- 17:44Speaker 7: He did it.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Did you see the video of that monkey trying to
- 17:46Speaker 2: kidnap that kid?
- 17:48Speaker 1: Oh? What's up?
- 17:49Speaker 2: So there's a video on Instagram of a monkey riding
- 17:52Speaker 2: a bike. He jumps off the bike like a gangster,
- 17:56Speaker 2: grabs an infant and snatches it up and tries to
- 18:02Speaker 2: run off with this little baby.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Where is this taking place.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't know where. There's it wherever They got monkeys
- 18:06Speaker 2: riding on bicycles in the street.
- 18:08Speaker 4: God snatches the monkey. The monkey snatches the baby and
- 18:13Speaker 4: rides away, and somebody's like, hey, hey, hey, And then
- 18:16Speaker 4: a monkey like kind of gets scared that he's seen.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Trying to steal a baby. Right now, Dan, you can
- 18:24Speaker 2: totally ride along.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Oh it's only fifteen seconds. I'm watching now.
- 18:27Speaker 7: What the fuck?
- 18:29Speaker 1: Why's the monkey taking the kid?
- 18:31Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Indonesia, Indonesiaia. Don't bring your kid to Indonesia.
- 18:41Speaker 2: They will rob they will steal your kid.
- 18:43Speaker 1: They're climbing in your window. They snatched.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Kids.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Have you seen the monkey gangs fighting. I don't know
- 18:52Speaker 1: if it's Indonesia or where, but there's this place where
- 18:54Speaker 1: there's always tourism and people are always feeding all these monkeys,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and because of the pandemic, nobody's feeding these hundreds and
- 19:03Speaker 1: hundreds of monkeys, so they're getting in like turf wars.
- 19:07Speaker 1: The gangs of different monkeys are like getting into street
- 19:09Speaker 1: brawls over the scraps of food because there's no tourists
- 19:13Speaker 1: feeding them.
- 19:14Speaker 2: This sounds like a movie.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Have you guys seen that one, Joel or Dane?
- 19:19Speaker 2: I have not. I've seen. This reminds me of like
- 19:21Speaker 2: Watership Down or something like that, where the Hares go
- 19:24Speaker 2: at it with each other.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Dan's gonna find out video down because now you got
- 19:27Speaker 1: to see my viral monkey video.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Okay, I can't wait to see it now.
- 19:31Speaker 1: When you say that's what I'm talking about, first time ever,
- 19:34Speaker 1: first first time ever, you didn't laugh at yourself.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I did no, because I say it, I say it
- 19:39Speaker 2: in real life all the time.
- 19:41Speaker 1: That was kind of like you're what you're talking about, Willis?
- 19:43Speaker 2: That was I was what you're talking about. Willis.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Listen, you gotta have a catchphrase.
- 19:47Speaker 2: And I did have one. You had one too, I
- 19:49Speaker 2: didn't intend.
- 19:50Speaker 1: To what was mine? Eagle egle? By the way, speaking
- 19:54Speaker 1: of my catchphrase, one of which was nobody cares Sean.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I had so much people on Instagram writing how could
- 20:01Speaker 1: you guys have a Sean on the show and not
- 20:03Speaker 1: say to him nobody cares Sean. But listen, we have
- 20:07Speaker 1: the real Scott Foley coming on.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I'a uh. And is it true that we got Brendan
- 20:14Speaker 2: Fraser coming on too?
- 20:15Speaker 1: I didn't know we were gonna tell the people, but yes,
- 20:17Speaker 1: we got Brendan Fraser coming on.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I'm really excited about that.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Everybody wants to be on this hot podcast, you know,
- 20:22Speaker 1: the one that's going on the view. Everybody wants to
- 20:24Speaker 1: talk about the hottest podcast.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Is it true that Krista Miller's coming on too?
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, we got Christa Miller, we got we got coming,
- 20:31Speaker 1: we got Neil Flynn, we got Johnny c McGinley coming back.
- 20:34Speaker 1: We got Billet for our finale of season one. You guys,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you're getting all of this fucking inside scoop on this episode.
- 20:43Speaker 1: We're gonna have Bill and Krista on together.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh I love it. So they can if we can,
- 20:48Speaker 2: we should see if we can get like the whole
- 20:50Speaker 2: cast on at one point and do like a The only.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Thing about that is, if you've ever been on a
- 20:54Speaker 1: zoom call with more than like four people, it just
- 20:57Speaker 1: devolves into mayhem. I mean, yeah, we could do it.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It's it's just I did a zoom call with like
- 21:02Speaker 1: my family for somebody for my own birthdays sorry about
- 21:04Speaker 1: to say for somebody's We've done it for a couple
- 21:05Speaker 1: of birthdays. But like everyone's talking over everyone, and my
- 21:09Speaker 1: parents don't know how to use it, and and everybody's
- 21:12Speaker 1: screaming over each other. I you know, it doesn't work.
- 21:15Speaker 1: But no, but but but but you're right, Donald, I
- 21:17Speaker 1: want to give to people what they want.
- 21:19Speaker 2: They might want us to like read a script or
- 21:21Speaker 2: something like that. Maybe we could do something like that.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't know, I know, but Bill's not gonna go
- 21:24Speaker 1: write a fucking Scrubs episode right now. He's too busy. Okay,
- 21:28Speaker 1: he's got like nine shows. Hey, look at that video.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Dan just put it in the chat. They want that
- 21:32Speaker 1: tourist food.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeo. Yeah, they're chas enough to do it with their.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Who hell no, that's rival monkey gangs.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Hell to the no, hell no.
- 21:51Speaker 1: All right, so there we go.
- 21:52Speaker 2: We had a monkey on the episode.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yes, sorry, tell us a long digression.
- 21:57Speaker 2: We had a monkey that was in the episode of Scrubs.
- 21:59Speaker 7: Was so long.
- 22:01Speaker 1: That was a long digression.
- 22:02Speaker 2: My drug buddy hasn't a monkey.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, now okay, how about uh, how about keep it holy?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Now?
- 22:08Speaker 1: That was funny, Aloma fifty.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Keep it holy? Now that one and the janitor asking
- 22:14Speaker 2: you if you slept with her yet.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a whole runner, the whole runner of the episode.
- 22:20Speaker 1: The janitor's whole point in this episode is to make
- 22:23Speaker 1: fun of me for not sleeping with my girlfriend. With
- 22:25Speaker 1: your hot girlfriend, by the way, I feel like that's
- 22:28Speaker 1: a thing when JD gets these hot girlfriends and then
- 22:30Speaker 1: somehow doesn't close and never sleeps with them. Remember when
- 22:34Speaker 1: I get I got actually with with with Liz Banks,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I think we had had sex, but the time I
- 22:41Speaker 1: got her pregnant, we we didn't have intercourse. Remember I
- 22:44Speaker 1: said there was some, there was some, There was some.
- 22:48Speaker 1: You know, I forgot the analogy, but this whole elaborate
- 22:50Speaker 1: thing about how there was there was fire that landed
- 22:54Speaker 1: near the sight the site. I wonder if you can
- 22:59Speaker 1: really I mean, I guess you all we can really
- 23:00Speaker 1: get pregnant that way.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I mean, if we put it on the show, it's
- 23:03Speaker 2: probably true.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah, someone must have googled it. But what a horrible
- 23:07Speaker 1: thing to have happened.
- 23:08Speaker 2: You know, I also love that your grace and will
- 23:12Speaker 2: and grace, you're not will your grace.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah that makes sense. I laughed how loud, like I
- 23:19Speaker 1: said at four twenty two when Kelso rolls down the
- 23:21Speaker 1: window and inch for Judy. By the way, I totally
- 23:23Speaker 1: don't remember at all this Kelso Judy storyline, but I
- 23:26Speaker 1: thought it was very funny. Yeah, and they were both
- 23:29Speaker 1: really good together.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Yeah, they have good chemistry.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Also says I don't.
- 23:33Speaker 7: I don't.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It means she doesn't give a crap a.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Cheeto, right, Yeah, it was a great moment.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I noticed at six oh four, I'm in the on
- 23:44Speaker 1: call room with Alex Liz Bogish and Sarah comes in
- 23:48Speaker 1: and mentions the missing percocet, and if you know the
- 23:50Speaker 1: end of the episode, you track her face, she's got
- 23:52Speaker 1: a very guilty face on.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah. That was like I said, Man, we always dropped clues,
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know. And the way she deflected it was by saying,
- 24:02Speaker 2: you know, like when watching it this time around, knowing
- 24:04Speaker 2: how the out knowing what the outcome was, I was like,
- 24:07Speaker 2: oh my gosh, she just totally gave it away just now. Yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 2: she totally winked at the camera like I did it.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, but it's funny any time you know
- 24:15Speaker 1: them the end of the movie or a TV show
- 24:17Speaker 1: and you go back, you'll hopefully see some little clues.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Of course, I never watched this probably I probably only
- 24:23Speaker 1: watched this episode once. I never noticed it. But this
- 24:25Speaker 1: time watching it back, I noticed that either it was
- 24:28Speaker 1: her choice or Spiller directed her to give a little
- 24:31Speaker 1: bit of a look. But she definitely gives a look
- 24:32Speaker 1: like oshit.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't usually, That's what I'm trying to say. Usually,
- 24:37Speaker 2: you know, a lot of movies you go back and
- 24:39Speaker 2: you can't you can't find you know, somebody whoever wrote it,
- 24:43Speaker 2: or television shows too, you go back and you can't
- 24:45Speaker 2: find where it all tracked from. It doesn't always track.
- 24:49Speaker 2: You know, who's really good at tracking things are like,
- 24:51Speaker 2: you know, James Franco and Seth Rogan and them when
- 24:54Speaker 2: they write movies, like when I saw This is the End,
- 24:57Speaker 2: Franco gives you the whole plot in the beginning of
- 25:00Speaker 2: the movie of what the movie is gonna be, and
- 25:02Speaker 2: you don't listen to it necessarily because you're just you're
- 25:05Speaker 2: waiting for the laughs. And at the end of the
- 25:07Speaker 2: movie it's it's exactly what he said to Rogan in
- 25:10Speaker 2: the beginning. He's like, no, this is gonna happen. This happens,
- 25:13Speaker 2: And then at the end Danny eats me and then
- 25:16Speaker 2: it happens in the movie Will We Do That?
- 25:18Speaker 1: But been a special case where you didn't track it
- 25:20Speaker 1: because you were high off your ass.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's another thing that I've stopped recently. Ganja, you talked
- 25:28Speaker 2: about how you know you eat unhealthy and you went
- 25:32Speaker 2: on this fast because.
- 25:33Speaker 7: I gave you.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I gave you a pep talk about your diet.
- 25:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Well you also talked about it on the on the
- 25:39Speaker 2: podcast where you were like, you know you we made
- 25:41Speaker 2: all of this pizza and then finally we were like,
- 25:43Speaker 2: we're gonna get healthy. He just showed me his abs. Yes, me,
- 25:47Speaker 2: Dan and Joel his abs. They looked good.
- 25:51Speaker 1: If Dan and Joel want to be inspired as well,
- 25:53Speaker 1: they can be very nice.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Anyway, you talked about it, and I was like, well,
- 25:58Speaker 2: I'm doing so many horrible things, like I made fried
- 26:01Speaker 2: chicken last night.
- 26:02Speaker 1: You sent me a picture of you eating fried chicken.
- 26:05Speaker 1: How is that going to help your diet?
- 26:06Speaker 2: It was delicious. By the way, I'm really good at
- 26:10Speaker 2: cooking now, but I can only cook bad foods, you
- 26:13Speaker 2: know what I mean. And so I was like, I
- 26:15Speaker 2: gotta cut this out. And so I've decided, Oh, so
- 26:19Speaker 2: you gave up weed last night. You know how it
- 26:21Speaker 2: is with me when I give you these speeches, Donald
- 26:24Speaker 2: is it's not like I've been off of it for
- 26:28Speaker 2: you know, a week. Donald stop smoking weed literally less than.
- 26:35Speaker 1: An hour ago. Donald is so funny. This is classic
- 26:37Speaker 1: Donald Faizon to be like, yo, yo, I stopped smoking weed.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I'll be like, oh man, good for you, good for
- 26:41Speaker 1: you when this morning.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I woke up this morning.
- 26:46Speaker 1: But the crazy frustrating thing about you that I fucking
- 26:49Speaker 1: hate is when when Donald commits to get in shape,
- 26:52Speaker 1: he can do it in like a month. He'll be ripped,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like he will go so hardcore, he'll work out every day,
- 26:57Speaker 1: he'll totally change his diet and then you'll see him
- 27:00Speaker 1: and he'll be like, holy shit, you did that in
- 27:02Speaker 1: four weeks, and that spoiled your ass, because now you know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: in an emergency, like if you get some part where
- 27:07Speaker 1: you gotta be looking good, you can fucking do it
- 27:10Speaker 1: so fast.
- 27:11Speaker 7: Right.
- 27:12Speaker 2: So, if you're list Marvel Star Wars, if you're listening
- 27:17Speaker 2: and you're ever, if you're ever thinking about hiring Donald Fazon,
- 27:21Speaker 2: who I am?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Who I am?
- 27:24Speaker 2: Come up?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Who I am?
- 27:27Speaker 2: And you're like, ah, but he looks like he's out
- 27:30Speaker 2: of shape right now, know that all it takes is
- 27:34Speaker 2: one month and I'm yours.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Did you see Kamal?
- 27:38Speaker 2: Oh my god, he looks amazing.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Fucking hell man, he looks amazing. He went all out.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He looks like an action figure.
- 27:45Speaker 2: He does look like an action figure. He looks well.
- 27:47Speaker 2: It suits him too. It doesn't look bad on him either.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And I like the fact that he shouted out his
- 27:52Speaker 1: whole team that did it, because I think sometimes these
- 27:54Speaker 1: these famous actor types, they show what they did and
- 27:57Speaker 1: they don't say like, oh and I had a chef
- 27:59Speaker 1: and I had a trainer, because yeah, you gotta be
- 28:01Speaker 1: honest with people and say like, hey, I had a
- 28:03Speaker 1: team helped me with this. And I like I liked
- 28:05Speaker 1: when he revealed it on Instagram that he that he
- 28:07Speaker 1: shouted out everybody that helped him.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Right, it's not something that you can do by yourself.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I don't know how The Rock does it, but I'm
- 28:12Speaker 2: sure the Rock has too.
- 28:14Speaker 1: He's a zillionaire. He's got it. He literally he literally
- 28:16Speaker 1: literally puts up a gym wherever he goes. He's got
- 28:19Speaker 1: a tent, like a wedding tent gym that that gets
- 28:22Speaker 1: set up wherever he goes.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Yeah, the Iron Paradise.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Should we get back to the episode Donalds, let's do
- 28:28Speaker 1: it the love of God? Yeah, I thought at seven
- 28:32Speaker 1: oh five it was funny. They're on the when they're
- 28:34Speaker 1: online at the coffee shop. The guy's wearing a giant
- 28:36Speaker 1: headset like his kind of dates the show at two
- 28:39Speaker 1: thousand and one or whatever. He's wearing like a full
- 28:41Speaker 1: on like megaphone headset. Is it?
- 28:44Speaker 2: Is it a headset so he can call out orders over?
- 28:47Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, no no. This was was a
- 28:50Speaker 1: guy online. Remember she Judy gets in a fight.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Oh, that's right, and he's on the phone.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Right, But this is before the headsets got tiny.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Right, he had the Janet Jackson went on, yeah, yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Or like the or what is it? What was the
- 29:01Speaker 1: boy band and syk or whatever that you have the
- 29:03Speaker 1: bige bye bye, yeah, coming up, big headsets. So John
- 29:08Speaker 1: C and I you're on a sign please schedule. Has
- 29:10Speaker 1: that ever happened to you? Uh? No, me, neither.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I've never had to go to the bathroom at the
- 29:15Speaker 2: same time as another man consistently, Like I've gone to
- 29:19Speaker 2: the bathroom and and another man has been in the bathroom.
- 29:22Speaker 2: But I didn't go back to the bathroom four more
- 29:25Speaker 2: times that day and see same dude.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's awkward. I really hate I agree with Johnny C.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I don't like fucking urinal banter.
- 29:34Speaker 2: And I'm sure side contact either.
- 29:36Speaker 1: No, And I'm sure someone like you being in the
- 29:39Speaker 1: public eye sometimes you have people that want to fist
- 29:41Speaker 1: bump you and talk to you in the men's room.
- 29:43Speaker 2: That's no, no, no, no, has that happened to you before?
- 29:48Speaker 1: I just want to want to do it hit people
- 29:49Speaker 1: want to do hip hop hugs. People want to fist bump.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Nope, dude. I remember one time, this dude, we're at
- 29:55Speaker 2: the urinal and he's like, dude, I love your work.
- 29:58Speaker 2: And I was like, oh shit, okay cool. And then
- 30:01Speaker 2: we go to the sink uh oh, and he's like
- 30:04Speaker 2: and we're washing our hands and he's like, I'm telling
- 30:06Speaker 2: you right now, man, is so good. You shine in
- 30:09Speaker 2: like a gold diamond right now, like a gold diamond.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I was the kiss is a good kisser.
- 30:18Speaker 2: He was a great kisser. Not a great cuddler, but
- 30:21Speaker 2: great kisser.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I don't think you know, it's fine. I don't want
- 30:23Speaker 1: to talk when I'm at the urinal, like if you're
- 30:25Speaker 1: by the way, you speaking of headsets, you see dudes
- 30:27Speaker 1: like on their phone at the urinal and they're like, no, Jim,
- 30:30Speaker 1: I told you, and they're like, they're like shaking their
- 30:33Speaker 1: dick and then they're like then they pull out their
- 30:35Speaker 1: phone while they're peeing and they got their dick dangling
- 30:37Speaker 1: and they're like checking their Instagram. That's not my style.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Now I notice you and Johnny. I guess it's to
- 30:44Speaker 1: hide penis for the camera, but you're standing very close.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And even Joel commented on this in her notes that
- 30:51Speaker 1: she said, dude guy, Joel said, quote, do guys really
- 30:55Speaker 1: stand that clothes to the urinal? And I want to
- 30:57Speaker 1: be like, no, Joel, No, I mean I get this,
- 31:00Speaker 1: the camera angle you had to hide your junk. Women
- 31:02Speaker 1: probably want to know this. But there's all different types
- 31:04Speaker 1: of urinals. There's you know, at the stadium there's like
- 31:07Speaker 1: just a trough, right, and then at that like a
- 31:09Speaker 1: high end restaurant, they'll be like a border that like
- 31:12Speaker 1: blocks like, no, this is MySpace, you can't look into
- 31:15Speaker 1: my shit right now. And nowadays to put a little
- 31:18Speaker 1: you know, it's funny they put something for men to
- 31:21Speaker 1: aim for, because studies have found that when men have
- 31:24Speaker 1: something to aim at, they're way less likely to splash everywhere.
- 31:28Speaker 1: So now in the urinals they put like an etched
- 31:31Speaker 1: little bug or a little bull's eye, and you're supposed
- 31:34Speaker 1: to I mean, it's not, it's not. It doesn't say
- 31:36Speaker 1: please aim for the bug. You just your brain is like,
- 31:38Speaker 1: I'm a hit that fucking fake bug. And the physics
- 31:42Speaker 1: of it. If you aim for that bug perfectly, you're
- 31:45Speaker 1: least likely to splash all over the floor, right.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I always wonder how that happens, you know what I mean.
- 31:50Speaker 2: You get on you get on a plane and you
- 31:52Speaker 2: go into the bathroom and a plane and somebody has
- 31:54Speaker 2: just like shipped their brains out in the bath flow like,
- 31:57Speaker 2: and you're like, what the fuck, dude explode. I remember
- 32:02Speaker 2: one time some lady came at the One time, this
- 32:06Speaker 2: young lady came out of the bathroom and I saw
- 32:08Speaker 2: when she came out she was in there for a while,
- 32:10Speaker 2: but when she came out, I saw that she was
- 32:12Speaker 2: She had the moment of I should tell you not
- 32:17Speaker 2: to go in, but I'm not gonna say anything because
- 32:21Speaker 2: I'm a little embarrassed, and I went into the bathroom
- 32:24Speaker 2: and it was everywhere everyone, and I was like, what
- 32:26Speaker 2: do you do? And I wanted to come out and
- 32:28Speaker 2: be like.
- 32:28Speaker 1: That happened, right, What did you do? What did you eat?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Did you have the fish?
- 32:32Speaker 2: So when I walked by her going back to my seat,
- 32:35Speaker 2: when I walked by her, I just looked at her
- 32:36Speaker 2: and shook my head, No, you did it. I was
- 32:39Speaker 2: like with disapprovement.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Oh that's fucked up. Yeah, listen, have you ever gone
- 32:45Speaker 1: into a bathroom like an like an airplane bathroom and
- 32:49Speaker 1: it's just horrible, like someone just destroyed it and you
- 32:52Speaker 1: you didn't You just gonna peel or whatever and get out.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And then you were like as you come out, the
- 32:55Speaker 1: person in line, and you feel like you want to
- 32:57Speaker 1: tell him like, I didn't do that. I need you
- 33:01Speaker 1: to know, especially when you're in the public eye, You're like,
- 33:04Speaker 1: you don't want you to go home and tell your
- 33:05Speaker 1: friends like Donald He's on destroyed that fucking airline bathroom.
- 33:08Speaker 1: So you got to be like, hey, I just went Pete,
- 33:11Speaker 1: I had nothing to do with it.
- 33:14Speaker 2: In there. I'll even come out and be like you
- 33:17Speaker 2: need to get the stewardess because whoever was in their
- 33:19Speaker 2: last you need to get the flight attendant, because whoever
- 33:23Speaker 2: was in their last totally messed up.
- 33:25Speaker 1: I had nothing to do with the stalag tights on
- 33:29Speaker 1: the ceiling, right.
- 33:30Speaker 2: So when Johnny ces banging his head on the wall,
- 33:33Speaker 2: I remember, they cut a hole in the wall into
- 33:36Speaker 2: the other room and then put up a gym matt
- 33:41Speaker 2: had Yeah, yeah, no, a matt, a gym matt, and
- 33:44Speaker 2: then covered the wall again with uh set wall, yeah,
- 33:49Speaker 2: whatever the set wall was, and they covered it up
- 33:51Speaker 2: so that he could bang his wall and not get
- 33:54Speaker 2: a concussion. And if I remember correctly, because that bathroom
- 33:57Speaker 2: that we were in was actually two where they cut
- 34:00Speaker 2: a hole in the wall and then just put a
- 34:03Speaker 2: fake urinal again.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's how they got that shot of you.
- 34:06Speaker 1: There's a shot of you straight on and the plumbing
- 34:10Speaker 1: of the of the urinals in the foreground. They could
- 34:12Speaker 1: have never gotten that shot if that wall wasn't removable,
- 34:14Speaker 1: or or they could have rigged that little plumbing thing
- 34:17Speaker 1: right in front of the camera. I don't know what
- 34:18Speaker 1: they did.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Also, the hospital didn't have bathrooms like that, if you recall.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Right, it didn't have shared men's rooms like that right, right, yeah, right.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Or and if it did, If it did, they put
- 34:30Speaker 2: the urinals on the wall, you had to go into
- 34:32Speaker 2: a stall.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's very hard. It's very hard to shoot
- 34:34Speaker 1: in a bathroom anyway. So but yeah, so you and Johnny,
- 34:38Speaker 1: that's the whole arc is actually there's a lot more
- 34:40Speaker 1: to the arc. It's we were revealed. I never remembered
- 34:42Speaker 1: at all that it was this blatant that Cox had
- 34:45Speaker 1: a whole thing for for Carlo.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I mean, you guys have it out, you know at
- 34:51Speaker 1: the end.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's what I was trying to tell Johnny,
- 34:54Speaker 2: and he was like I didn't believe it. I'm like,
- 34:55Speaker 2: all right, well whatever, man, But.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Well when we have him on, he's coming back on,
- 35:01Speaker 1: so we gotta we can ask him about this, right.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I laughed when you went, I went. I laughed when
- 35:06Speaker 1: you went. You're my little peabody, right right.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I remember, I remember when we were shooting this. This
- 35:13Speaker 2: is when I was like wow. And I even said
- 35:15Speaker 2: to him, Johnny, don't intimidate me. And he was like,
- 35:18Speaker 2: I'm not intimidating you, man, don't you know, shut the
- 35:21Speaker 2: fuck up with that. And I was like, you're right.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Let me, just let me do my work. And I
- 35:26Speaker 2: remember being very excited to work with john because I,
- 35:30Speaker 2: you know, this, this was really my first moment ever
- 35:33Speaker 2: that we had multiple scenes together.
- 35:35Speaker 1: And your first story arc together, right, and so we.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Were working together multiple days. It wasn't just one day
- 35:43Speaker 2: of filming, and we got to develop some form of
- 35:48Speaker 2: timing together because we didn't necessarily have that at this point.
- 35:52Speaker 1: So wait, when you started this episode, you said to
- 35:54Speaker 1: him like, don't intimidate me.
- 35:57Speaker 2: We were doing a scene, the scene where we're face
- 35:59Speaker 2: to face, and Johnny is an intimidating person, and he
- 36:03Speaker 2: you know, but he was in character.
- 36:04Speaker 1: He's supposed to be trying to intimidate you.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Right, But as as a young actor who's working with
- 36:12Speaker 2: somebody you admire and you're doing stuff like that, you know,
- 36:16Speaker 2: I I got nervous and I was and I you know,
- 36:19Speaker 2: I mumbled out, come on, man, don't intimidate me. And
- 36:22Speaker 2: he's like, shut the fuck up, I'm not intimidating you
- 36:24Speaker 2: just do the scene.
- 36:25Speaker 1: And I was like, you're actually right, right, good?
- 36:27Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So it so it worked out because I think you
- 36:30Speaker 1: guys are really great together. It's very funny Johnny you know,
- 36:34Speaker 1: he always was kind of you know, think about it
- 36:36Speaker 1: in when he was on set kind of in character
- 36:39Speaker 1: as Cocks, he was always kind of like, you know,
- 36:40Speaker 1: he's one of those guys, you know, some actors, not
- 36:43Speaker 1: like on the Daniel de Lewis level, you hear where
- 36:45Speaker 1: someone's like you have to call him President Lincoln. But
- 36:48Speaker 1: like he was always you know, he was always kind
- 36:50Speaker 1: of you know a lot of people stay kind of
- 36:52Speaker 1: roughly many, but Tanken did that and wish I was here.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You know, he would you know, he would be on set,
- 36:57Speaker 1: he'd kind of be being the guy even when you
- 36:59Speaker 1: weren't shoot, and then you'd call rap and he'd be like, hey,
- 37:01Speaker 1: that was a great day, man, see you tomorrow, and
- 37:03Speaker 1: big hug, and he was like and Johnny, Johnny. I
- 37:06Speaker 1: feel was like that he would kind of, you know,
- 37:08Speaker 1: he was always kind of, don't you think, kind of
- 37:10Speaker 1: stay a little bit in the Cox character.
- 37:12Speaker 2: And I think and I think that's what everybody interprets
- 37:14Speaker 2: as he's intense and stuff like that, and and and
- 37:18Speaker 2: why people are nervous when they work with him for
- 37:21Speaker 2: the first time because they misconstrue that as this dude
- 37:26Speaker 2: is one hundred percent method, or this dude is an asshole,
- 37:30Speaker 2: or this dude's just too intense for me, and what
- 37:34Speaker 2: he was doing was just being Cox when Cox is
- 37:36Speaker 2: in the hospital. When we work together, you know, I
- 37:40Speaker 2: was very excited to work with the man. I thought
- 37:42Speaker 2: it was I and I love the way the story
- 37:45Speaker 2: arc ends. I love that we you know, he's trying
- 37:48Speaker 2: to hide it from everyone that he's in love with Carla,
- 37:52Speaker 2: and we figure it out, and you and I figure
- 37:55Speaker 2: it out. But she hasn't figured it out yet, and so,
- 37:58Speaker 2: which is really weird.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Carla not know that Johnny, No, she doesn't.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I feel like I feel like women know right away,
- 38:06Speaker 2: and so no, I think that's bullshit.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I think a lot of women are like, we're just friends,
- 38:11Speaker 1: and I want to be like, have you not seen
- 38:12Speaker 1: when Harry met Sally? Watch that ship?
- 38:15Speaker 2: I think they say we're just friends to push you
- 38:18Speaker 2: into a friends into the friend zone. Anytime a woman goes, no,
- 38:21Speaker 2: we're just friends, she knows what's going on, and I disagree.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I disagree. No no no, no no no no no
- 38:29Speaker 1: wait wait wait wait wait wait, Before Joel answers, I
- 38:31Speaker 1: want to say something I'm not talking about. I'm talking
- 38:34Speaker 1: about how many times have you spoken to a woman,
- 38:37Speaker 1: whether it be your wife or a girlfriend or someone
- 38:38Speaker 1: else in your life, and you go, you know that guy,
- 38:42Speaker 1: straight guy friend you have wants to sleep with you, right,
- 38:45Speaker 1: And they're like, what, No, we're just friends.
- 38:49Speaker 2: My wife doesn't have any straight friends.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Right, guys, well back in the day she might have
- 38:54Speaker 1: and she does.
- 38:56Speaker 2: No, she doesn't.
- 38:56Speaker 1: All right, well back in the.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Day, other than you should I tell her that you
- 39:00Speaker 2: want to sleep? What are I would?
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Just good, She fine as hell, she
- 39:13Speaker 1: is fun. No, no, but you know what I'm talking about. You, well,
- 39:16Speaker 1: do you know what I'm talking about?
- 39:17Speaker 6: I do know what you're talking about. And I think
- 39:19Speaker 6: it depends on the person. I don't think we can
- 39:22Speaker 6: we can paint the entire female gender as being aware
- 39:25Speaker 6: or unawares. I think there've definitely seen some ladies in
- 39:27Speaker 6: their time, you know, use the sexual attraction to their
- 39:31Speaker 6: advantage and be like, oh, I don't know, we're just friends.
- 39:33Speaker 2: We're not that they knew.
- 39:35Speaker 6: But I've also seen plenty of women who were just
- 39:37Speaker 6: like wait what because I just thought we were just vibing.
- 39:39Speaker 2: I thought your friends were right.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I think that when Harry met Sally is a really
- 39:43Speaker 1: great articulation for this. It's like, if you're friends for
- 39:45Speaker 1: a certain amount of time, and let's say you're a
- 39:48Speaker 1: man and woman, and you're both heterosexual and and let's
- 39:51Speaker 1: say single at the time, I just I just have
- 39:53Speaker 1: trouble believing that one one of those parties isn't attracted
- 39:56Speaker 1: to the other.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I agree with you one hundred percent. Feel like somebody
- 40:01Speaker 2: is always attracted. Look, I don't. I don't. I can't.
- 40:06Speaker 2: I can't sit here and say I have, you know,
- 40:08Speaker 2: other than people colleagues that I work with. I can't
- 40:11Speaker 2: have like a girlfriend that I call up and I'm like, yeah,
- 40:14Speaker 2: all right, of.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Course, not notinety more. Dude, you're married and it is inappropriate.
- 40:17Speaker 1: But I'm saying, back in the day.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Now, I wanted to sleep with them. Yeah, that's honest.
- 40:23Speaker 2: That's the honest to goodness joy. Back in the day,
- 40:26Speaker 2: if I.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Had a long way around the block to get to that.
- 40:29Speaker 2: But back in the day, if I had a friend
- 40:30Speaker 2: and she was a.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Girl, yeah, and she was attractive and you were attracted
- 40:38Speaker 1: to her, she.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Didn't necessarily even have to be the hottest person on
- 40:42Speaker 2: the plane. Listen, friends, it's not about it's not about looks.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It's also about how the person you know makes you laugh,
- 40:48Speaker 2: and how they make you feel and stuff like that.
- 40:50Speaker 2: All of that goes into what's attractive to you, you
- 40:54Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like Zach, you aren't the most
- 40:58Speaker 2: beautiful man on the planet. But if you were a.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Female, Dan, what are you talking about? Would have got married?
- 41:04Speaker 2: You would have got married.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I have the weirdest boner right now. Oh, should
- 41:12Speaker 1: we get back to the episode. Should probably take.
- 41:13Speaker 2: A break, Let's go do it.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Let's take a break. I gotta cool down, I gotta
- 41:16Speaker 1: tell a cold shower. It's been brought to my attention
- 41:29Speaker 1: that when we come back from break, Dan, that you've
- 41:31Speaker 1: chosen the section of the song that's the old one
- 41:34Speaker 1: without the MM and but before you correct it. I've
- 41:39Speaker 1: had people tell me on Instagram they like it because
- 41:42Speaker 1: they know it's not going to be there, and they
- 41:43Speaker 1: do them themselves to the song.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, So you.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Might be saying you did that on purpose. Dan.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I find it amazing that the it is so important
- 41:55Speaker 2: to everyone. I get it, I get it, I get it.
- 41:59Speaker 2: It's amazing to me that without it, some of you
- 42:03Speaker 2: get very upset.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I like our fan our fan participation. I
- 42:08Speaker 1: gotta tell you, they weigh in nationally passionately. Yeah, you
- 42:12Speaker 1: know they were talking about today. Someone asked me, when
- 42:15Speaker 1: are you guys gonna do merch? And I said, oh,
- 42:17Speaker 1: it's funny. We were just kind of shooting the shit
- 42:18Speaker 1: about that. What do you guys want? And I had
- 42:21Speaker 1: like dozens and dozens of people saying they want Donald
- 42:24Speaker 1: on a beach towel. They want I would love to
- 42:27Speaker 1: have you on a beach towel.
- 42:29Speaker 2: It's that episode, people, it is that episode.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I would well, no, no, I don't mean stop no,
- 42:35Speaker 1: I moved on from the homerotesism. I'm just saying, your
- 42:38Speaker 1: cute face on a beach towel would be delightful. Or
- 42:40Speaker 1: a mug. I was thinking a mug. That's your face, right,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and then when you pour hot water and it changes
- 42:46Speaker 1: to my face.
- 42:47Speaker 2: That's hilarious.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Joelle, you like that, right, that's hilarious. That's probably gonna
- 42:53Speaker 1: cost a lot of money.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that would you know?
- 42:56Speaker 1: It's funny most most podcasts. I didn't realize from podcasts
- 42:59Speaker 1: like merch was important, but I guess a lot of
- 43:01Speaker 1: podcasts sell like mugs and T shirts. And then when
- 43:03Speaker 1: they ask it, I know, but when they when I heard,
- 43:06Speaker 1: asked us, what do you guys want to sell that?
- 43:07Speaker 1: Like Donald and I were like, oh, mugs. The change
- 43:09Speaker 1: color tells teky neckles is like the most elaborate shit.
- 43:13Speaker 1: They were like, well, we were thinking mugs.
- 43:16Speaker 2: We were thinking maybe pin, like a pin or something
- 43:18Speaker 2: like that. How about like a button like that says
- 43:20Speaker 2: fake doctor's real friends on it.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Yeah, how about a button.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I do like the idea of T shirts and stuff like, Yeah.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I have a very fun I just have funny Ice
- 43:28Speaker 1: was laughing about funny merch ideas. I guess it's a
- 43:31Speaker 1: T shirt or a mug.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Okay, I have a question, let's get back to the show.
- 43:34Speaker 2: I have a question.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Is it is it asking me to sing from Pippin?
- 43:37Speaker 1: Because I'm prepared?
- 43:37Speaker 2: I warmed, No, I was going to go into Pippen,
- 43:39Speaker 2: but we can go into Pippin app.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Everything has it sees hon go ahead?
- 43:43Speaker 2: Oh god, I want to go.
- 43:45Speaker 1: It was my audition song when I was a child.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Okay, So, for those who don't know, Zach Brath is
- 43:52Speaker 2: heavily into musical theater. He's so heavily into.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Music, not really anymore, but go ahead.
- 43:58Speaker 2: He's so heavy or he us so heavily into musical theater.
- 44:01Speaker 2: When he was a kid, he went away to camp, Yeah,
- 44:04Speaker 2: theater camp that was musical theater camp.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Yeah called stage door Manner and my father, my father said,
- 44:11Speaker 1: as I was packing for musical theater camp, he said, well, I,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I guess you don't need to bring a mint.
- 44:25Speaker 2: A baseball mit.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I was like, no, Dad, but hand hand me over
- 44:30Speaker 1: my my Ben nine makeup kit because we're gonna work
- 44:37Speaker 1: on under eye. We're gonna work on how to do
- 44:41Speaker 1: Southern freckles.
- 44:43Speaker 2: So because of that, was this something that? Was this
- 44:45Speaker 2: something that you wrote? Was this your joke that you wrote?
- 44:49Speaker 1: No, but it's hilarious.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's a great joke.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I wish I wrote it.
- 44:52Speaker 2: My son. I was to see my nephew tonight and Pippin,
- 44:57Speaker 2: who is he playing?
- 45:00Speaker 1: It's a loon. It's almost delivery like it the Alma's
- 45:03Speaker 1: delivery has a little bit of like, how dare you
- 45:05Speaker 1: imply that my nephew is not the lead? She's like Pippin.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Now Pippen in the original Broadway.
- 45:13Speaker 1: You're not gonna know this, are you?
- 45:15Speaker 2: Was played by Ben Vereen in my career.
- 45:17Speaker 1: No, no, the very good, very good fuck up and
- 45:19Speaker 1: thank you for asking. The original Pippen was played by
- 45:22Speaker 1: Michael Weston's father, John Rubinstein.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Wow.
- 45:26Speaker 1: For those who don't know, Michael Weston played private dancer
- 45:29Speaker 1: run Scrubs and he was in my film Garden Statium.
- 45:32Speaker 1: He was in my film Wish I was here. He's
- 45:33Speaker 1: a wonderful actor.
- 45:34Speaker 2: He was also in the other movie you did with
- 45:37Speaker 2: all those other actors, Casey Affleck and oh yeah.
- 45:40Speaker 1: The Last Kiss. He was in the Last Kiss. Michael
- 45:42Speaker 1: and I have done. We used to live together, a.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Couple of movies. You've done like four movies together now, Yeah,
- 45:48Speaker 2: Ben Veren. Best song in the show, Join us, leave
- 45:52Speaker 2: your feels to flower, join us, leave yo cheese to so.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Join us, Come and waste our auto too, dude ly
- 46:08Speaker 1: do ELLUSI me. So it's a really it's a really
- 46:11Speaker 1: great show. And it's about a guy looking for trying
- 46:15Speaker 1: to figure out who he wants to be and his
- 46:18Speaker 1: very seventies and very sexual and I think Bob Fosse
- 46:22Speaker 1: choreographed it. And anyway, so when I was a kid
- 46:25Speaker 1: auditioning for musicals at like musical theater camp. I would do.
- 46:29Speaker 1: One of Pippin' songs was this corner of the sky.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Everything has its season, everything has its time. Show me
- 46:35Speaker 1: a reason and I'll show you a rhyme. Right, pretty song. Wait,
- 46:40Speaker 1: let me get to the chorus for you don't pour us.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Get to the chorus.
- 46:44Speaker 7: Do you remember it?
- 46:45Speaker 1: Hold on, shut up? Rivers belong with they can ramble,
- 46:48Speaker 1: Eagles belong with eagles. Eagles eagles, Eagles belong with they
- 46:54Speaker 1: can fly. I've got to be where my spirit can
- 46:58Speaker 1: run free. Gotta find by corner of the guy.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Damn big round up plug man?
- 47:07Speaker 1: Can you do thunderous applause?
- 47:08Speaker 4: There?
- 47:10Speaker 1: So, yeah, I did go to theater camp. I loved it.
- 47:13Speaker 1: It's actually what started my acting career. And uh, you
- 47:17Speaker 1: know it was like you going to that fame school.
- 47:19Speaker 2: How did you find out about theater camp? That's the question.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Like I didn't want to go to you know, I
- 47:23Speaker 1: was my dad was doing community theater and he's a lawyer,
- 47:25Speaker 1: but his hobby was he was always in the plays
- 47:27Speaker 1: and he was amazing. You know, you knew my dad.
- 47:29Speaker 1: He was charming and funny and he was always always
- 47:32Speaker 1: got the leads. So I would go as a little
- 47:34Speaker 1: kid and you know, eight years old and watch my
- 47:35Speaker 1: dad in the local play be the lead and make
- 47:37Speaker 1: everybody laugh. And I was like, I told you this.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I was like, I want to be this, this is
- 47:41Speaker 1: a job, like I want to be a part of this.
- 47:43Speaker 1: And then the normal camp. Again, normal camps had so
- 47:45Speaker 1: much to do with like sports, it wasn't like exciting me.
- 47:48Speaker 1: And my parents were like, you know, there are theater camps,
- 47:50Speaker 1: and I was like, go on, and I went to
- 47:55Speaker 1: one called Bravo first, and then that one closed down,
- 47:58Speaker 1: and then I went to a stage or which is
- 48:00Speaker 1: still alive and very very much alive. It's like the
- 48:02Speaker 1: most popular one. At twelve eighteen, when I say to Elliott,
- 48:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but you had your chance with me, I
- 48:09Speaker 1: literally said out loud, oof, Like I told you. I've
- 48:12Speaker 1: been writing down my my, my lols. I literally wrote
- 48:16Speaker 1: down oof wow, Like that was so fucked up to
- 48:19Speaker 1: say that.
- 48:21Speaker 2: And not only was it fucked up, but it was
- 48:24Speaker 2: just I mean, it's totally fucked up, but it's so
- 48:26Speaker 2: below the belt, dude, it's.
- 48:28Speaker 1: No who would say that. I mean, it's such a
- 48:30Speaker 1: dicky thing to say.
- 48:31Speaker 2: And even if she's not even if she's not jealous,
- 48:35Speaker 2: you know what she turns out to be at the end.
- 48:38Speaker 2: What a dick, dude, right, what a dick? Jd was
- 48:42Speaker 2: such a dick for that. But it worked, It works.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Fucked up thing is that it worked. But let's not
- 48:48Speaker 1: get ahead of ourselves. Thirteen fifty two. Cox knows your
- 48:50Speaker 1: name first time he ever knows it.
- 48:52Speaker 2: GUESSI.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he calls you Turk. He goes, your name's Turk.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Oh that's right, so right, right right, That's how he
- 48:59Speaker 2: finds out I'm Turk. Your turk? Got it?
- 49:01Speaker 1: Yeah? When you show up, when you show up.
- 49:03Speaker 2: To the surgical consult? Do you remember this?
- 49:06Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 49:06Speaker 7: Do you?
- 49:07Speaker 2: But do you remember it?
- 49:09Speaker 1: I remember from what do you remember?
- 49:10Speaker 2: How I couldn't get surgical consult right? And so I
- 49:12Speaker 2: wrote the song did someone call for a surgical consult?
- 49:17Speaker 2: And I did that for like twenty minutes before we
- 49:20Speaker 2: shot this episode for this episode.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Because there was a tongue twister surgical consult.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Not only that, I just couldn't put together surgical consulet.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Like I walked in the room a couple of times
- 49:31Speaker 2: and was like, did somebody call for a And I
- 49:33Speaker 2: didn't know what a surgical consult was. And so because
- 49:36Speaker 2: I didn't know what a surgical consult was, I couldn't
- 49:38Speaker 2: fath I couldn't put it together in my brain.
- 49:40Speaker 1: So did someone explain to you what a surgical consult was? No?
- 49:43Speaker 2: I just sang a song.
- 49:44Speaker 1: See that's interesting. See Donald has uh, your way of
- 49:49Speaker 1: learning would be like, I know what I'm gona do.
- 49:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna turn that fucking into a song, and that's
- 49:52Speaker 1: how you learned it.
- 49:53Speaker 2: And that's what I did. Yeah, I remember, I remember
- 49:59Speaker 2: the That was one of the first times in the
- 50:01Speaker 2: show where I was like, I'm costing the crew all
- 50:04Speaker 2: of this time right now because I can't get this
- 50:06Speaker 2: line right. I went home and I know I studied
- 50:09Speaker 2: this shit, but for some reason, this word sounds foreign
- 50:14Speaker 2: to me. And so because it sounds foreign to me,
- 50:16Speaker 2: I can't deliver it the way I want to deliver it.
- 50:19Speaker 2: And so I sang it over and over and over again.
- 50:22Speaker 2: And when it finally felt like I could throw it
- 50:25Speaker 2: away and it wasn't something that I had to think about,
- 50:29Speaker 2: no problem.
- 50:29Speaker 7: Bam, that's good.
- 50:30Speaker 1: That's a good trick. It's always good to have those
- 50:33Speaker 1: little devices.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we need them.
- 50:37Speaker 1: I have a device that I learned where if you're
- 50:39Speaker 1: trying to remember someone's name, you picture someone that you
- 50:43Speaker 1: know from your past who has that name in their
- 50:47Speaker 1: exact position, and then you can you'll always remember the
- 50:53Speaker 1: person's name.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Does that work?
- 50:55Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, tell you try it. If you're listening, you
- 51:00Speaker 1: really got I gotta remember this guy's name. I want
- 51:02Speaker 1: you to pick someone from your history, and let's say
- 51:05Speaker 1: they're a barista at the Starbucks. You go through whatever,
- 51:08Speaker 1: and you and you're like, oh my god, I know
- 51:09Speaker 1: this guy. I gotta remember. Well, they have named tax
- 51:11Speaker 1: doesn't count, but you know what I mean, someone who
- 51:12Speaker 1: you're like, I really want to remember this person's name.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Picture someone from your past, the weird and more eccentric,
- 51:17Speaker 1: the better, in that exact spot, and then it'll lock
- 51:22Speaker 1: in and he'll always remember their name.
- 51:25Speaker 2: I have played myself the way JD played hisself when
- 51:28Speaker 2: he was like when he went home that night and
- 51:31Speaker 2: he put roses on the bed.
- 51:33Speaker 1: You've done that, Oh dude.
- 51:35Speaker 2: I remember one time. I'm not even sure if it
- 51:37Speaker 2: was a definite thing, but this young lady who I
- 51:40Speaker 2: was dating at the time, and we were pretty young,
- 51:45Speaker 2: so you know, it took it wasn't like we were
- 51:49Speaker 2: having sex, so we were leading up to that. I
- 51:54Speaker 2: she was like, yeah, maybe I'll come over, and I
- 51:56Speaker 2: was like, I'm gonna be romantic, okay. And I went
- 52:00Speaker 2: to Pizza Hut because that's what I had money for,
- 52:05Speaker 2: and I got two personal pan pizzas and I put
- 52:09Speaker 2: it on the floor in my room at my mom's house.
- 52:13Speaker 2: And I took the blanket off of my bed and
- 52:16Speaker 2: put it on the floor. First of all, I cleaned
- 52:17Speaker 2: my room.
- 52:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Also, how old are you put the blanket? I don't
- 52:21Speaker 2: want to talk about age ages.
- 52:22Speaker 1: And it'd be funny if you were like, what do
- 52:24Speaker 1: you mean thirty five?
- 52:25Speaker 2: Right? Ages is important at this point. And I put
- 52:28Speaker 2: a blanket down. I got a brick to hold the
- 52:33Speaker 2: blanket down in the middle of the blanket and put
- 52:36Speaker 2: candles on the brick, lit the candles, set up the
- 52:41Speaker 2: pizzas with the soft drinks, and waited for her to
- 52:46Speaker 2: come over. And she didn't come Oh. And when I
- 52:51Speaker 2: look back, I remember calling her and be like, well,
- 52:53Speaker 2: you didn't come over, and she was like, I told you, well,
- 52:55Speaker 2: maybe i'd come over. And I took the maybe as
- 53:00Speaker 2: she's coming over.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Wow, And I and that young woman's name Rihanna.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Right, And that young woman's name was Beyonce Knowles.
- 53:11Speaker 1: I I once really liked a girl when I was
- 53:14Speaker 1: living in Manhattan out of college, and I, I'm not
- 53:18Speaker 1: much of a cook, but I asked my stepfather, who's
- 53:20Speaker 1: a really good cook, for a recipe to impress this girl.
- 53:23Speaker 1: And so I spent the whole day. This was first
- 53:25Speaker 1: date I knew her. Though she was I knew her,
- 53:28Speaker 1: but this was the first time I was asking around
- 53:30Speaker 1: and we were going to meet at my apartment and
- 53:32Speaker 1: then I was going to take her to circ to
- 53:33Speaker 1: so let So I spent money on like circus light tickets.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I didn't have, you know, I was a PA. I
- 53:38Speaker 1: didn't have much money, and I spent the whole day.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I was so excited. She came over and she was
- 53:43Speaker 1: so upset, pissed off about her day and like rambling
- 53:46Speaker 1: about her day and yeah, this happened, and my boss
- 53:48Speaker 1: was dead. She barely even like acknowledged the fact that
- 53:51Speaker 1: I had spent this entire day making her dinner.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Did she well, did you say I spent the entire
- 53:56Speaker 2: day making No.
- 53:57Speaker 1: I didn't want to be like I didn't want to
- 53:58Speaker 1: rub it in, but I was like, I made you
- 54:00Speaker 1: dinner like this happens all the time when you're dating me,
- 54:02Speaker 1: and uh, and didn't eat any of it. I think
- 54:07Speaker 1: she nibbled on it and was unimpressed. And I never
- 54:10Speaker 1: really made anyone food again.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Did you take her to sark to silet?
- 54:14Speaker 1: Yeah I did I but yeah, I took it a
- 54:16Speaker 1: shirk to silt. And then I think, you know, she
- 54:18Speaker 1: had a good time, and I think I got friend.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Zoned and then you got friend zoned.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Well, so there you go. And since then I never
- 54:25Speaker 1: made anyone dinner again.
- 54:26Speaker 2: I hear that. Let's take a break.
- 54:28Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 54:38Speaker 6: Guys, we're gonna let the fan in now.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Oh, what's up, guds?
- 54:43Speaker 1: Welcome actors, real friends. Let's Joelle do a formal introduction.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Now that we're all here, we have our manual.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Oh, I stole it. I stole it.
- 54:58Speaker 6: He works at a children's hospitals.
- 55:02Speaker 1: That's so amazing, man. Thank you for being I imagine
- 55:06Speaker 1: you're you're out there being a frontline worker as we speak.
- 55:10Speaker 8: Yes, yes, yes, And you know I wouldn't I'd be
- 55:14Speaker 8: remiss if I had an introduced my roommate who also
- 55:17Speaker 8: works in the hospital.
- 55:18Speaker 7: He's an administrator the be A Hospital system.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Wow, you guys are the perfect guest for our for
- 55:24Speaker 1: the show. Wow, Joel, we're good producing. You got some
- 55:26Speaker 1: solid guests.
- 55:28Speaker 7: Joel's best.
- 55:29Speaker 1: So what's it been like these days at a children's hospital,
- 55:32Speaker 1: Because you know, we hear out in the world that
- 55:35Speaker 1: children aren't getting affected as much, but then of course
- 55:38Speaker 1: now we're hearing in New York some are and what's
- 55:41Speaker 1: it what's it like these days?
- 55:43Speaker 2: Yeah, So it's funny.
- 55:44Speaker 8: So during the height of the COVID epidemic, you know,
- 55:47Speaker 8: we weren't getting as many kids, at least not as much.
- 55:50Speaker 8: Like so I work in the ic you in the hospital,
- 55:52Speaker 8: so we weren't getting as much in the ICU. But
- 55:55Speaker 8: since but now lately we've been getting you know what
- 55:58Speaker 8: they've been talking about then you used the whole systemic
- 56:00Speaker 8: inflammatory response like.
- 56:01Speaker 7: Post COVID type of thing.
- 56:03Speaker 8: So that's like very interesting to see because you know,
- 56:04Speaker 8: we weren't seeing a lot and people were saying kids
- 56:06Speaker 8: weren't getting affected as much, and now we're seeing them
- 56:08Speaker 8: come in with all these different symptoms and so you know,
- 56:12Speaker 8: it's it's a learning experience, but we have seen something similar.
- 56:15Speaker 8: It's similar to like the kawas hockey disease that they're
- 56:18Speaker 8: talking about. We have an idea of how to like
- 56:20Speaker 8: treat it, but it's just interesting to see that it's
- 56:23Speaker 8: popping up now.
- 56:24Speaker 2: You know, our kids making full I know there are
- 56:26Speaker 2: some that that didn't make recoveries, but our kids making
- 56:28Speaker 2: full recoveries. Like you hear about patients that get COVID
- 56:33Speaker 2: and you know their bodies have been pretty much destroyed
- 56:38Speaker 2: by the virus. Yeah, what about what the children? Are
- 56:41Speaker 2: the children making the recovery with this new kawiski yeah thing. Yeah.
- 56:47Speaker 8: So thankfully, most of the patients that I've taken care
- 56:50Speaker 8: of personally have recovered. I mean, you know, there are
- 56:53Speaker 8: some cases that I'm sure have not gone our way,
- 56:56Speaker 8: but for the most part, from what I've been seeing personally, like,
- 56:58Speaker 8: our patients have been recovering and a lot of them
- 57:00Speaker 8: have been doing pretty well.
- 57:01Speaker 1: When you went to nursing school, and you obviously could
- 57:03Speaker 1: choose any area you chose, what I would imagine is
- 57:07Speaker 1: the most hardcore thing being an ICU nurse at a
- 57:10Speaker 1: pediatric hospital. I mean, you must have days where you're
- 57:14Speaker 1: I mean you must have days where you're just emotionally crushed.
- 57:18Speaker 8: So I chose pediatrics because when I was younger, I
- 57:21Speaker 8: was you know, hospitalized for a bit, and so I remember, like,
- 57:25Speaker 8: you know, all the nurses that took care of me,
- 57:27Speaker 8: and so when I became a nurse, I kind of
- 57:29Speaker 8: wanted to give back and take care of those patients.
- 57:32Speaker 8: And it is very, you know, emotionally heavy sometimes, but
- 57:36Speaker 8: you know, I work with such amazing people and you
- 57:39Speaker 8: could always rely on that. And then I got right here,
- 57:41Speaker 8: who's in a health field, so we could aways talk
- 57:43Speaker 8: to him, and I got and I just let I
- 57:46Speaker 8: have a good support network of people that I could
- 57:48Speaker 8: always talk to and rely on if.
- 57:49Speaker 7: I'm feeling down. And you know, thankfully we have more
- 57:53Speaker 7: good days than bad days, and so you kind of
- 57:55Speaker 7: rely on those to kind of get you through.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Do you feel like the bad days are behind you
- 57:59Speaker 2: right now? As far as far as what we're dealing with,
- 58:03Speaker 2: I thought so. But with this new you know, Kawasaki thing,
- 58:06Speaker 2: we're definitely seeing more paince that's like, you know, I
- 58:10Speaker 2: see you. We're having more of those kind of patients
- 58:13Speaker 2: in there, but thankfully a lot of them are doing good.
- 58:14Speaker 7: So I remain hopeful still so well.
- 58:17Speaker 1: I mean, I got to tell you I've spent some
- 58:19Speaker 1: time in ICUs because I had a very sick sister
- 58:21Speaker 1: and a very sick father. And you know when these
- 58:24Speaker 1: icy U nurses, they're they're like superheroes. When you when
- 58:27Speaker 1: you when you have someone who's just so responsive and
- 58:30Speaker 1: so on it, you want to hug them because you know,
- 58:33Speaker 1: by the time you're in an ICU, you know things
- 58:35Speaker 1: are pretty dire. And yeah, and so I'm virtually hugging
- 58:39Speaker 1: you right now. You're getting atual COVID proof hug.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I'm doing it. It looks like I'm saying, what conda?
- 58:48Speaker 2: That is a hug? That is a hug? What Conda? Forever?
- 58:54Speaker 2: And a hug?
- 58:56Speaker 1: Oh God? All right, do you guys have a question
- 58:59Speaker 1: for U?
- 59:00Speaker 2: For us?
- 59:01Speaker 1: That's why we're here to do to answer any conditions.
- 59:04Speaker 1: He's got he's got a book. You know, we have
- 59:06Speaker 1: some people, we have some people, We have some people
- 59:09Speaker 1: come on em Manuel and we asked him give a
- 59:11Speaker 1: question the whole point of coming on the show. And
- 59:12Speaker 1: they're like, what what now?
- 59:14Speaker 2: Question now?
- 59:15Speaker 1: A Manuel pulled out like a Manuel pulled out, a
- 59:17Speaker 1: Manuel pulled out a binder, We.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Go ahead, all right.
- 59:24Speaker 8: So I know you guys had talked about why you
- 59:26Speaker 8: guys are doing the show, bringing yourselves into the character
- 59:29Speaker 8: and making it a little bit easier to play. But
- 59:31Speaker 8: one thing I wanted to is there anything about the
- 59:33Speaker 8: character that you played that you brought into your own
- 59:35Speaker 8: personal lives?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Is there anything about Turk that I brought into my
- 59:40Speaker 2: own personal life?
- 59:44Speaker 3: Ah?
- 59:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I bought j D.
- 59:51Speaker 7: That's the best answer, actually, But.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I brought out like think of like when you're adjusting
- 59:56Speaker 1: a picture and you can crank the saturation.
- 59:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I brought out Donald's feminine side. You did that, You
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: did because when I first met Donald, he had a
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: lot of this love of musicals and being silly and
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: shit inside of him. But he was his front was
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: like yo, yo, yo, let's go play basketball. And now
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: look at me, he's fucking singing Pippin left and right.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: You know, I went to school with a bunch of
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: theater kids and stuff like that, and I remember being like, oh, suckers,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: a bunch of theater kids, right, And now I look
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: back at it and I'm like, I wish I was
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: a theater They used to sing all of these songs
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: and stuff like that, and I wanted to sing the songs.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: But you know, I was a sucker. I was just
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: a sucker. And now I look at it and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: you know, yeah, so there is that. There is that
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: a lot of the things that JD and Turk did
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: as best friends opened me up to be way more
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: comfortable around men than I was before. Yeah, and not
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: to say that I wasn't comfortable around men, but you know,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: it's different. It's way different.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean, You're more comfortable just
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: being whoever.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I mean, obviously correct me if I'm wrong, but what
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: you're saying is you're more comfortable just being whoever you are.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: I think as young as young men, we have to
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: put it up. We always put up all these uh
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: you know, obviously I can't speak for the for the
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: women's experience, but as a young man, you feel like
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you have to put up all these fronts like I'm
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: tough and I'm straight and and uh and anything you
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: did that was lightly slightly effeminate, you know, high school kids,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: middle school kids were like, oh, you're so fucking gay
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: and all this shit. And I think what what I
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: felt with with with scrubs and uh brought out in me.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: And I think Donald was like, all right, I'm just
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: gonna be like whoever I am and be that.
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I know I and I knew that it was an
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: issue for other people when I made a comment when
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: playing basketball. I made a comment like, you know, like
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: I said some and silly, like my nipples are hard.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: And the dude that I was playing basketball with was like, yo, man,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: come on, man, man, what's going on with that? And
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I was like, oh, you have you you're not comfortable.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: You have your own issues.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: And then you're like, it's not my issue, that's your issue.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's a good answer. Don I don't know
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: if I had top Donald's answer, but I will say,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: and this is not just because you're a hero. I
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: see you, nurse. I think I brought a full on
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: respect for what even even though we were faking it,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: what it's like to work in this profession, and such
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: a respect for people who work in the medical field
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: and how hard it is. And Donald and I had
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: the luxury of pretending to be doctors and getting the
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: fun of pretending to save lives and pretending to come
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: to the rescue, and now you know, as a younger
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: man when we were doing the show, I didn't have
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: that many experiences. But then after living many more years
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and had more life experiences where I was just pleading
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: with medical professionals to save important lives. To me, I
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: think I had so much more respect and especially now
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: with this COVID insanity and and people fighting back against
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: medical professionals. I don't know if you saw that amazing
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: shot of the nurse standing in the in the in
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: the crosswalk when when there was like an anti COVID
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: lock up protest, it reminded me of It reminded me
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: of the of the guy standing in front of the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the tank. Yeah, and I just thought, I don't know,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I have so much respect and love for for nurses
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: and doctors and EMTs and paramis. When I was a kid,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: I wanted to be a paramedic. I thought there's nothing
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: more badass about flying down the street in an ambulance
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: to come to.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: The I agree with that too. I take my health
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: way more serious now, you know what I mean. Before
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I was very afraid to go to the hospital. There
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: was something scary about going to the hospital, especially as
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: an African American male. It seems like, you know, yeah,
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: a lot of my relatives and everything didn't go to
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: the hospital until it was the last resort. It's the
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: last thing that I've tried, every home remedy I could do.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Disinfection isn't going away. I'm gonna fight it. I'm gonna
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: fight it. I'm gonna fight it. Holy cow, I can't
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: feel my leg. I think I should go to the
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: hospital now, you know what I mean. I think while
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: making scrubs, it became all right, I don't need to
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: be afraid of because it's not They're not gonna kill
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: me if I go. Yeah, I might die if I
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: don't go, though, so let me let me take care
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: of what's going on with me as soon as it
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: pops up. And then I became a hypochondriac. Now all
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: of a sudden, I was at the hospital like every
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: five sec. If I had a you know, if my
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: nose was running, I was like going to the doctor
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: real quick.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Don'd know these things. He has the worst thing, He's
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: that guy. I'd be like, dude, it's a zi it's
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: a tumor.
- 1:05:01Speaker 7: Right, may better sad?
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Sorry? Right?
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Do you guys have another question for the legendary Donald Faison.
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: Yes, can they hear me? So, Doctor Cox was your
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: mentor on the show. Do you guys have like a
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: mentor in real life during your acting careers? Wow?
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Very good question.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: So many, whether they realized they were my mentors or not.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I have so many mentors. Bill Lawrence has been a
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: mentor to me. He taught me how to tell a joke.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I feel like I might have always been funny, you know,
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: but there's a process to telling a good joke, and
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: when you stumble on words that are meaningful for the punchline,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: it makes it so the joke doesn't work. Uh. And
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: so because of that, I've been very lucky to work
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: with someone like Bill Lawrence, who really taught me the
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: anatomy of a joke and how to tell a joke.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: He's one person, Denzel w Washington my whole life, whether
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: he knows it or not. After working with him, and
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: remember the Titans too, you know, he's always been a
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: hero of mine and also a mentor. You know his
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: if you listen to interviews with Denzel Washington, and you
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: know he's just a very deep mind and a very
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: very good actor. And so he's one of those people
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: that I've always looked up to, and when I finally
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: got to meet him, he's definitely a hero and a mentor.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: When you were on that movie, did he ever say
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: any any He gave.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: One tip one time. Mostly he led by example. He
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: you know, he's very hard worker, you know what I mean,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: and comes to work prepared and to get you prepared,
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: he'll run lines with you over and over and over
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: and over again, right so that when the camera rolls,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: you're ready to play. But he gave me one bit
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: of advice because we were as a bunch of young men,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: were all in our early twenties, and we're messing around
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: and where you know, it's a movie about football players,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: and we're doing you know, we're giving each other elbows
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: and you know, uh, pretending that we're punching each other
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: in the face and everything like that because we're all
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: young men. And he was like, you know, I did
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: this movie Glory, and I was like, go on, and
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: he was like, there was somebody in the cast who
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: used to do what you guys are doing right now.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: And I remember him looking at me because I was
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: very excessive about you know, one, I played around way
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: too much. Still to this day. I play around way
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: too much when working. And he was like, and this
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: dude would play around and he would pretend to punch
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: people in the face and act like he was gonna
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: you know, and he would be joking. And one day
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: he slipped and hit an extra in the face, somebody
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: who was you know, been around the set and everything
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: like that, and laughed it off, and he punched this
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: guy in the face accidentally, but still punch this guy
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: in the face, and the guy started crying and taking
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: off his you know, jazz because he knew I'm about
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: to kick this man's ass and get fired. This is
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: the end of me ever being in this movie. And
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: I've been here for a while and I like these people.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: I'm about to kick this dude's ask though, because he
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: punched me in the face. And the guy apologizes and apologize.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: It doesn't need to go there, brother, No please, no, no, no,
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: let's not do this. Let's you know, and finally, you know,
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: they calmed the guy down and it's all right, don't worry,
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: let's work this out. But he was like, you know,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: you guys are playing around so damn much. Somebody's gonna
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: catch a fence to this and get hurt, and you're
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: not gonna be able to talk him back. So my
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: advice to you all, as he's looking at me is
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: to shut this shit down. Stop doing this. And I
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: remember being like, you're absolutely right, because if I punched
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: that dude in the face accidentally, he's not gonna he's
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: not gonna care if it was an accident or not.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: He's gonna be upset and want to break me up.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: So that's amazing story. And I just love that Denzel
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: was like, so I did this film glory? I would
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: say for me, I mean can't. The first answer is
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: obviously Bill Bill Lawrence, who created the show. He taught
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: me so much about acting and directing and how to
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: the business. You know, Bill's some people are good writers,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: but they're not savvy about the business and how to
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: navigate the business. And Bill taught Donald and I both
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: a lot about how to navigate Hollywood and how to
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: navigate the industry. And you're never on a job for
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: nine years, so it was like it was like grad school.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: We learned so much over the course of nine years
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: and a lot of and to this day, when I
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: have a script that I'm writing, I gave it to Bill.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: When I have a first edit of a movie i'm directing,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I show Bill and he comes in and gives me
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: really tough notes and good notes. So Bill first and foremost,
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: and then I guess my My version of the Denzel
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: thing is, I just got to work with Robert de
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Niro in a film, and he's a He's a huge
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: hero of mine. And just watching the way he worked
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: and how humble he was and uh and how he
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: I just just being on set with a legend like that,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I felt like I was getting I was becoming a
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: better actor. And there were a handful of little things
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: he did that I like, Oh, I'm gonna try and
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: do that next time, and and uh, and he's just
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: a huge inspiration to me. I love I love that man. Donald.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: I'd give him another question if they're very, they're very nice,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: one question, very, they're very we're going long, though we're
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: going out.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Let's keep it short because the show people don't want
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: to hear it an hour. And this might be a
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: little Zach.
- 1:10:39Speaker 8: It's like week three months into COVID, and uh, the
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: George hare is going extra long, So I need to
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: know your shampoo and conditioner.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Well, here's the trick. I'm going to tell you something
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: that some people. Some people are gonna think it's nasty,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: but don't wash your ship. Let it get dirty. What, baldy,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: you were not allowed to weigh in this conversation.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: I have I might not have a lot of hair,
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: but I have hair number one number two. When he
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: said ship, he meant don't wash your hair.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, don't do you guys use a washcloth in
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: the shower. We're having a debate on.
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: The I used to use the wash flaw.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're black man. That's why the thing I grow,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: That's why white people don't use wash cloths. Apparently, speaking
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: of that one thing we noticed we were just watching
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: the show.
- 1:11:32Speaker 7: Everyone got shoes on in the house.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: It's sleep with the shoes on.
- 1:11:36Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: I never slept with my shoes on the show. Show.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: We just watched You make Out with and I had
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: shoes on.
- 1:11:44Speaker 7: No, not you?
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Oh me, Well, I think in the senior you're talking
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: about this episode that that we watched. Yeah, well, Sarah show.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: If Sarah Chalk throws you to the bed and mounts you,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: you're not gonna be thinking about your sneakers. Bro, all right, No,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: my hair, I I don't wash a lot because I
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: feel when I wash it, I don't like the way
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: it looks. But when I let it have its natural juices,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: it has a nice.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: That's from coming to America. Dude, what would you put
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: in your hair? Nothing? I just got juices and berries
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: that ain't nothing but ultrap.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: All right, on that note, we're gonna go. Thank you
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: guys so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Our pleasure, our pleasure. Wait, lastly, like we gotta we
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: gotta end this fucking thing. It's going so long, but
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: I do listen, I'm gonna get in I know, Bro,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna get right into it. You think I was
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: gonna miss your favorite topic.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: I'm just putting it out there now.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: This episode has a Phantom Menace diss in it, and
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I want to know you and Joel Mister and Missus
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Star Wars' thoughts on the Phantom Menace diss.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: I don't like that they that they dissed the Phantom Menace,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: even though at one point I was one who didn't.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I didn't appreciate the Phantom Menace as much as I
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: should have. Dave Felony. Yeah, the king that he is
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: when it comes to Star Wars. Talks about on this
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: new Mandalorian documentary series that they got going, which I've
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: been watching.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: I'm watch that.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: It's really as a director, you're gonna love it.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: I'm friends with not to name drop, but I'm friends
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: with Deborah Chow who is one of the main directors
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: of Mandalorian. Right he was she was telling me, She's like, Zach,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: you gotta come see how we shoot the show. It
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: is unlike anything you've ever seen.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Dude, if you go, please take me. Isn't she directing
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: like all of these.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: She's directing every episode of Obi Wan.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Can you just tell her you have
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: a friend.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: She's the ultimate cool kid. I believe that they are
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: doing the Obi WANs in the UK. I would live
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: in the ut I will travel. But she was telling me,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: and I'm gonna watch the documentary because I've been hearing
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: about it, that that Favreau took this technology that he
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: developed for Jungle Book and the other films and kind
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: of took it to the next level.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: It's amazing. Anyway, Baloney's talking about how in the Phantom Menace.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: That movie sets off everything, and I was like, yeah,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: of course it sets off everything. It's episode one. He's like,
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: but in the in the documentary he's like, No, if
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Qui gon Jin would have won the fight against Darth Maul,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Anakin Skywalker's path as a Jedi would have been way
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: better than I then what he was given because Obi
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: Wan didn't look. I know, it's crazy, last.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I just wish the fans could see what I'm looking at.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I'm totally zoned out already, and Joelle is furiously nodding
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: like Donald is a preacher and she's in the choir.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: But look, obi Wan Kenobi was never a father figure
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: for Anakin Skywalker, and that was something that he was
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: missing his whole life, you know what I mean. He
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: was born from the force, His mother wasn't with anyone.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: There was no male that raised him. And if Qui
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: gon would have won that five, that father figure would
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: have been in place and he would have grown to
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: be a better Jedi. And not necessarily so, when Qui
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: gon dies, that's Anakin's first failure, not his on purpose,
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: but that's the first thing that fails in his life.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Then he loses his mother, then he loses his wife
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: and now he's freaking Darth Vader. And when I heard that,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I had already had an appreciation for The Phantom Menace.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: But that makes the movie twenty times even better.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Now, all right, Well, if if you happen to still
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: be listening.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: None of this is gonna make the pop. No, I
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: think it should.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Because there's a lot of diehard fans just like you two,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: and they'll probably love this.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: But non star wars and sex, I like that star
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Wars and sex are married together in this episode.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: Okay, well, let's wrap this episode up by talking about
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the big Elliott JD kiss. It's very exciting. It was,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I thought, I was. I thought it was romantic and
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: well written and well shot and h and granted, very
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: well performed.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: I thought, I thought, I think.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: I think right off the bat, you could see that
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Elliott and JD had chemistry and and it was it was.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: It was romantic and sweet and I liked it.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say so far, this is one
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: of my favorite episodes that we've watched, and it's not
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: necessarily the funniest episode, but it kind of reminds me
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: of a John Hughes movie. It kind of reminds me
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: of you know, the movies that I grew up on,
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: where the nerd in the movie is chasing after this
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: young lady this whole time, right, and his best friend
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: is right there next to him, this female best friend
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: is right there next to him, and he doesn't realize
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: that his best friend is the is the better is
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: the better choice for him? And he's chasing after something
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: that seems to be the right idea, and then at
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: the end of it he realizes, oh, that was that
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: wasn't that. She wasn't what I was looking for. And
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: the best friend goes, I know because I am, Yeah.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: And I like that Sarah, and I like that Elliott
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: made the move that I thought that was kind of
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: cool that she was the one who stood up and
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: like went for it, like she was the one who
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: said no, because I did. I did.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: I was jealous.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I was jealous. Yeah, And then you know it's it's
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: it's meant to be a little bit of an edit.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: But she she looks like she pushes me down a
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: whole hallway into the bed, right like you stumbled all
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: the way I did, Like no, I did like a
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: fucking matrix. Fucking shit down the She pushed me like
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I was Keanu down the whole hallway on that note. Sorry,
