- 2:31Speaker 3: calls in text two. I do want to mention though,
- 2:34Speaker 3: that due to the heat this was announced late yesterday afternoon,
- 2:37Speaker 3: one of the concert times has been moved. Tomorrow nights
- 2:40Speaker 3: Winona and Melissa Ethridge concert has been moved to a
- 2:43Speaker 3: start time of seven thirty instead of six thirty. And
- 2:46Speaker 3: I'm sure that was fine with Winona and Melissa too,
- 2:49Speaker 3: you know, to move it to six thirty. Welcome into
- 2:51Speaker 3: the show now, or move it from six thirty seven thirty,
- 2:54Speaker 3: I should say seven thirty to the star time. Welcome
- 2:56Speaker 3: now form Regatta Pro Wrestling. You know him, you love him.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's Adam Harris.
- 2:59Speaker 5: How you know him the morning, morning day. Great to
- 3:01Speaker 5: be here. Thanks for having me.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Can I give you the obligatory hot enough for you?
- 3:05Speaker 6: Hot enough for you, boy, We're gonna have some hot
- 3:07Speaker 6: pro wrestling action this Saturday.
- 3:10Speaker 7: King.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It is the Gino's Pizza Slambury. So Stern Will Slambery.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Give me before we get into talking about the wrestling,
- 3:20Speaker 3: give me the time and location.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Sure, yeah, man.
- 3:22Speaker 6: This is our fourth annual Sternwill Slambery and it's our
- 3:25Speaker 6: second year down at Hadad Riverfront Park.
- 3:28Speaker 5: That's where Live on the Levee is.
- 3:30Speaker 6: That's where the Regatta concert is going to be on Sunday,
- 3:33Speaker 6: and it's also where the hot Dog eating contest is
- 3:35Speaker 6: on Saturday.
- 3:35Speaker 5: So that's going down in the morning.
- 3:37Speaker 6: And then as soon as that wraps up, we're gonna
- 3:39Speaker 6: get the Squared Circle assembled and the superstars of the
- 3:42Speaker 6: region's professional wrestling scene are going to descend upon Hadad
- 3:45Speaker 6: Riverfront Park for the fourth annual Stern Will Slamberrey Free
- 3:49Speaker 6: Show four PM. And I invite anybody, maybe you're a
- 3:53Speaker 6: wrestling fan or maybe you're just wrestling curious, you should
- 3:56Speaker 6: come on down and this is a great chance to
- 3:58Speaker 6: expose yourself to some of the best and independent wrestling,
- 4:01Speaker 6: and I think you'll be surprised, you know, Dave, this
- 4:03Speaker 6: is not like what you see on USA and on
- 4:05Speaker 6: SmackDown and on Netflix.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It's and one of the great things about this, the
- 4:10Speaker 3: way that you guys do this is you know, West
- 4:12Speaker 3: Virginia has a very vibrant pro wrestling scene. And I
- 4:17Speaker 3: mean that in all sincerity. And unfortunately though from the
- 4:20Speaker 3: time I was in the business too, there's a lot
- 4:22Speaker 3: of territorialism. There's a lot of well, you don't run
- 4:25Speaker 3: this town, that's our town. You work for this guy,
- 4:28Speaker 3: you can't work for that gay. This event, you're bringing
- 4:31Speaker 3: the best of the best of all of the You're
- 4:33Speaker 3: like a one man you in. I mean, we're just
- 4:35Speaker 3: bringing everybody.
- 4:37Speaker 6: It's kind of hard to explain to somebody that's not
- 4:38Speaker 6: necessarily as involved as deeply as you and I have been,
- 4:41Speaker 6: but it's true there is kind of a territorial system
- 4:43Speaker 6: still in West Virginia. But I would just like to
- 4:46Speaker 6: say thanks to the fellow promoters, you know, Moose and
- 4:50Speaker 6: Scottie from ACW, which is Appalachian Championship Wrestling, my friend
- 4:54Speaker 6: Derek from Pro Wrestling Conquest. They run in Kanawa City
- 4:57Speaker 6: a few times a year. And then of course Gary
- 4:59Speaker 6: Damer from All Star Wrestling, which is where I met
- 5:01Speaker 6: you for the first time. And our friend Chance Prophet
- 5:04Speaker 6: who runs the Power Slam Academy and Power Slam Pro Wrestling.
- 5:07Speaker 6: So the four of them have been really helpful and
- 5:09Speaker 6: instrumental really and just helping me put this show together
- 5:13Speaker 6: for the city and help us represent pro wrestling to
- 5:15Speaker 6: a broader and perhaps more general audience at the regatta and.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Doing shows like this. I know for my days in
- 5:21Speaker 3: the business, it's a little bit different because you know
- 5:23Speaker 3: people sometimes, as you said, you called them wrestling curious
- 5:26Speaker 3: that sometimes people just kind of wander around, they're downtown
- 5:28Speaker 3: taking in other things with the regard and they're like, oh,
- 5:30Speaker 3: what's going on over there, Yeah, and let's go check
- 5:33Speaker 3: it out. So it's a little bit of a different
- 5:34Speaker 3: it can't.
- 5:35Speaker 8: You're gonna have.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Your hardcore fans that are going to be there, that's right,
- 5:38Speaker 3: but you're also going to have some people that maybe
- 5:40Speaker 3: aren't necessarily wrestling fans that are just Okay, I'm gonna
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna come check this out.
- 5:44Speaker 5: That's right. Yeah, that's right.
- 5:45Speaker 6: And you know what, I try to book a show
- 5:47Speaker 6: that's gonna be easy for the crowd to follow, right,
- 5:49Speaker 6: you need to know who you're supposed to dislike and
- 5:52Speaker 6: more importantly, who you're supposed to love and cheer for
- 5:54Speaker 6: and support in action. And so I think we've got
- 5:57Speaker 6: an incredible card. We've been rolling out matches throughout the day.
- 6:01Speaker 6: I announced on earlier this morning over on your sister
- 6:03Speaker 6: station in the Mountain, I almost called it the Animal.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Well, we announced our main event title match, Troy Parker
- 6:10Speaker 6: versus Tyler Jordan.
- 6:12Speaker 5: And Tyler Russell's out of state.
- 6:14Speaker 6: He's coming into Charleston challenge for the Regatta Pro title.
- 6:17Speaker 6: And that's the kind of reputation that we've built so
- 6:19Speaker 6: far for this relatively new organization.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It is well, it is new, and it's this collection,
- 6:26Speaker 3: I guess, so for lack of a better term, this league,
- 6:28Speaker 3: if you will, of guys and gals that are coming
- 6:30Speaker 3: in for this and they realize how big this is,
- 6:34Speaker 3: because I mean we're talking major, major crowds that are
- 6:37Speaker 3: already going to be in Charleton anyway. But when you
- 6:41Speaker 3: start doing the wrestling show, I mean, people really really
- 6:45Speaker 3: love it. They come from all over and take it
- 6:48Speaker 3: on in.
- 6:49Speaker 5: We had a great crowd.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Last year was our first year down at Hadad Riverfront Park,
- 6:52Speaker 6: and I'm expecting, I hope that the West Virginia wrestling
- 6:55Speaker 6: fans are going to show up in full force because
- 6:58Speaker 6: this is a unique event. I think people love the
- 7:01Speaker 6: setting being right by the water and also the seating
- 7:04Speaker 6: area and that part is actually what's under the shade
- 7:07Speaker 6: during that time of the day from four to six
- 7:09Speaker 6: or so. The audience will have the most shade available
- 7:12Speaker 6: during that time period thanks to the canopy down there
- 7:14Speaker 6: at he had At Riverfront Park. So plan your hydration,
- 7:17Speaker 6: plan your naps accordingly, and get ready for a hot day.
- 7:22Speaker 5: But it's going to be a fun day down at
- 7:23Speaker 5: regartd of.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And I'll tell you and you and I were kind
- 7:26Speaker 3: of talking off the air telling old stories here, but
- 7:29Speaker 3: we took what the as we have as old guys
- 7:30Speaker 3: have a tendency to do. What people may not realize
- 7:34Speaker 3: is is that canvas that Matt how hot it gets
- 7:40Speaker 3: at any given time for an outdoor show. And I
- 7:42Speaker 3: told the story about doing a show years ago with
- 7:45Speaker 3: Ricky Morton of the legendary Rock and Roll Express, and
- 7:48Speaker 3: we were doing a show outdoors. It was a summer festival,
- 7:51Speaker 3: not nearly the size of our God, it was much smaller,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and it was a noontime show. And I remember Ricky,
- 7:59Speaker 3: you know, who was a vetterno, the business legend in
- 8:01Speaker 3: the sport, one of my really good friends too.
- 8:03Speaker 5: At that time. Probably only thirty years in the business.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yes, yeh yeah. Now it's more like sixty or something
- 8:07Speaker 3: like Eddy Gay's still going strong. But Ricky telling those
- 8:10Speaker 3: young guys in the back boys try to stay off
- 8:13Speaker 3: that campus if you can, because you lay on that canvas.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I mean, if you're hurt, I mean, you gotta do
- 8:19Speaker 3: what you gotta do to try to get off of
- 8:20Speaker 3: it as soon as possible. Because the temperature on that
- 8:23Speaker 3: canvas I am, and I'm know Brian Hughes, but I'm
- 8:26Speaker 3: going to say the temperature on that campus is probably one
- 8:27Speaker 3: hundred and forty hundred and fifty.
- 8:28Speaker 7: It has to be.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I mean, just think about the like the dashboard of
- 8:31Speaker 6: your car when it sets there all day. I mean,
- 8:33Speaker 6: that's kind of like what's happening to that matt And
- 8:35Speaker 6: it's it's like a canvas material, you know, I mean
- 8:37Speaker 6: it's not like it's breatheable.
- 8:39Speaker 3: You can make a grilled cheese sandwich on that really.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Easily, right, That's right.
- 8:43Speaker 6: I might be cooking some egg burritos backstage, just on
- 8:45Speaker 6: the stage. There had at Riverfront Part fry some eggs.
- 8:48Speaker 6: But I'm not too worried about it. These guys are
- 8:50Speaker 6: used to it. And that's the thing about pro wrestling,
- 8:52Speaker 6: you know, Dave, is that you have to be prepared
- 8:54Speaker 6: not only to wrestle anyone, but to wrestle anywhere. Yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 6: it might be a small festival, it might be like
- 8:59Speaker 6: tomorrow night, we're headed to be ubs up in Cross
- 9:01Speaker 6: Lanes for an outdoor show. And that's what I love
- 9:03Speaker 6: about these shows, and you mentioned it. It's that the
- 9:05Speaker 6: casual fan might be able to just stroll up and
- 9:07Speaker 6: they might watch more wrestling than they're going to watch
- 9:09Speaker 6: in their entire lives. Or they may stick around and go, wow,
- 9:12Speaker 6: this is kind of fun. And a lot of people
- 9:14Speaker 6: enjoy the reactions of the crowd to the wrestling just
- 9:17Speaker 6: as much as they enjoy the wrestling. And that's what
- 9:19Speaker 6: kind of hooks people is they realize, like, oh, okay, cool,
- 9:21Speaker 6: this is really interactive. And that's what I remember about
- 9:24Speaker 6: my first show as a kid. It's like Wow. This
- 9:26Speaker 6: lady next to me just yelled at Harley Ray like
- 9:28Speaker 6: she's mad, and I was like, wow, that's kind of
- 9:30Speaker 6: like what makes this cool is like you get to participate.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And the thing about it is is when you're talking
- 9:36Speaker 3: about these guys, I want to as mess you can,
- 9:38Speaker 3: I want you to tell me some of the people
- 9:39Speaker 3: that are going to be there. I know you're not
- 9:40Speaker 3: revealing matches all of them, but I do want talk
- 9:42Speaker 3: about some people that are going to be there. That
- 9:44Speaker 3: one of the things that I that I really do
- 9:47Speaker 3: love about these shows is that, as you said, it
- 9:51Speaker 3: gives an opportunity for fans who who aren't the hardcore
- 9:54Speaker 3: fans to come in and for the wrestlers to tell
- 9:57Speaker 3: a story because you don't have the benefit Yeah, of
- 10:00Speaker 3: a weekly television show. Yeah, that's right, there's no storytelling.
- 10:04Speaker 9: I mean.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Now, a lot of the fans that are going to
- 10:06Speaker 3: come out for this event are ones that will see you,
- 10:09Speaker 3: as you said, at a Buffalo, Wild Wings across Lands,
- 10:12Speaker 3: may see some of the guys in Huntings and or
- 10:14Speaker 3: these other places, and they follow on the internet, YouTube
- 10:17Speaker 3: and whatever as well. Yeah, but overall, you don't have
- 10:19Speaker 3: that glitzy produced television show to help tell the stories
- 10:23Speaker 3: that like when I was a kid before I got
- 10:25Speaker 3: in the business, you know, I got this. I went
- 10:27Speaker 3: to see Rick Flair wrestle Rick Steamboat and they had
- 10:32Speaker 3: had a feud for years.
- 10:33Speaker 6: At the Colosseum. So I no, that was in Logan, Oh,
- 10:35Speaker 6: in Logan Cool at the field House.
- 10:37Speaker 3: One hour draw nineteen eighty four, Ricky Steamboat and Rick
- 10:40Speaker 3: Flair and Logan at the Logan Memorial field House.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Well, wrestling's changed a lot, but I can promise you
- 10:44Speaker 6: there's going to be no one hour draws at the
- 10:46Speaker 6: stern will Cembary this Saturday with a one hundred degree heat.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I had a text here it said, this is a
- 10:51Speaker 3: good point. Any athlete or band member that's been on
- 10:53Speaker 3: a sun soaked astrotur field knows exactly what you're talking about.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I was actually thinking about that too, because I remember
- 11:00Speaker 3: a couple of years ago being in Morgantown and being
- 11:03Speaker 3: at Mountaineer Field and this was during a practice session,
- 11:06Speaker 3: and I remember at that time Tony Gibson, who was coaching,
- 11:11Speaker 3: was an assistant with the Mountaineers at the time, long
- 11:13Speaker 3: before he went to Marshall. Tony Gibson talking to some
- 11:15Speaker 3: of us and saying, well, you know, we get some
- 11:17Speaker 3: of these big guys that's got a little running back
- 11:19Speaker 3: down there, we might lay on him a little bit,
- 11:20Speaker 3: this kind of grind him into the turf for a
- 11:23Speaker 3: little bit insult entry. Are some of the guys that
- 11:26Speaker 3: are going to be there?
- 11:26Speaker 6: Yeah, so well, I know you're a familiar Chance Prophet
- 11:29Speaker 6: who's like a twenty five year veteran of the business
- 11:32Speaker 6: at this point.
- 11:32Speaker 5: You recognize him by his face paint.
- 11:34Speaker 6: He's got like the black and white and the skull
- 11:36Speaker 6: painted on his face. And while while the real human
- 11:39Speaker 6: Chance Prophet is a wonderful individual involved in his church,
- 11:43Speaker 6: a deacon for the Lord the Dark Child, Chance Prophet
- 11:47Speaker 6: is quite the opposite of that. And when he gets
- 11:49Speaker 6: into the ring, he's capable of unquestionable tactics in order
- 11:54Speaker 6: to gain the win. And he's got He's currently the
- 11:55Speaker 6: Boone County Champion for ASW and he's going to be
- 11:58Speaker 6: defending that title. It's going to be Regatta street fight,
- 12:01Speaker 6: three way Regatta street fight with Bishop Baylor, who was
- 12:04Speaker 6: our Regatta champion for over two hundred and seventy days
- 12:08Speaker 6: and also a former Boone County champ and chances defending
- 12:11Speaker 6: against the other former Boone County champ, Noah Ray, who's
- 12:14Speaker 6: won half of the tag champs. And we mentioned earlier
- 12:17Speaker 6: this is like this is like a super show, so
- 12:20Speaker 6: there's gonna be a lot of titles. There's a lot
- 12:21Speaker 6: of champions because all of these federations want to put
- 12:24Speaker 6: their best foot forward. So that's going to be a
- 12:26Speaker 6: triple thread in our main event. I've talked about Troy
- 12:28Speaker 6: Parker defending his title, but I wanted to talk about
- 12:31Speaker 6: Emily Rose, who is a local woman. She went to
- 12:35Speaker 6: Winfield High School, played softball there, and she also went
- 12:38Speaker 6: on to play five years with West Virginia State as
- 12:41Speaker 6: a designated hitter and a pitcher and they won a
- 12:43Speaker 6: conference title with her on the mound.
- 12:45Speaker 5: And she's been coaching.
- 12:46Speaker 6: Volleyball and softball at Riverside recently, but she's been training
- 12:50Speaker 6: for the last three years and has really grown exponentially
- 12:54Speaker 6: in those three years. She's already been called up to
- 12:55Speaker 6: do an appearance on aw Collision, so she's got a
- 12:58Speaker 6: national television appear in under her belt already. And what's
- 13:02Speaker 6: really exciting is that she's going to be stepping in
- 13:03Speaker 6: for a mixed tag match, and this is what's going
- 13:05Speaker 6: to open the show on Saturday. It's going to be
- 13:08Speaker 6: Emily Rose teaming with an unforgettable character of professional wrestling,
- 13:11Speaker 6: Lifeguard Ross, who's a real lifeguard and he comes out
- 13:16Speaker 6: to the Baywatch music. So we're going to see Lifeguard
- 13:18Speaker 6: Ross teaming with Emily Rose and they're going to take
- 13:20Speaker 6: on Shane Krazak, who I know you remember from.
- 13:23Speaker 5: ASW in his early days.
- 13:25Speaker 6: Shane is now like one of the vets of the
- 13:27Speaker 6: business and has been really helpful to regard a pro
- 13:30Speaker 6: wrestling over the years. And he's going to be teaming
- 13:33Speaker 6: up with a former Miss Kanala Majorrette in the form
- 13:37Speaker 6: of Recy Ramon. Now she's a college graduate. She was
- 13:39Speaker 6: a twirler for the Thundering Herd, but now she's recently
- 13:43Speaker 6: won her first women's solo title and she's been making
- 13:46Speaker 6: waves at Appalachian Championship Wrestling, at All Star Wrestling, and
- 13:49Speaker 6: at Pro Wrestling Conquest over the years. And so Reese
- 13:52Speaker 6: is going to be teaming up with Krazak in a
- 13:54Speaker 6: mixed tag match, and that's going to kick things off
- 13:56Speaker 6: at the Stern will Slambury at four pm right after
- 13:59Speaker 6: our friend Josh Pantry, who's a past regattter performer. He's
- 14:04Speaker 6: going to kick us off in a traditional fashion by
- 14:06Speaker 6: singing America the Beautiful.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Pantry's great, Yeah, he really really is.
- 14:09Speaker 5: He's the man and he's excited to be a part
- 14:10Speaker 5: of this.
- 14:11Speaker 3: A loyal following.
- 14:12Speaker 6: He's an old wrestling fan himself. Me and him were
- 14:14Speaker 6: a little talking shop thither.
- 14:15Speaker 3: He's got a loyal follow All right, can you tell
- 14:16Speaker 3: us Rick, because I got to wrap this up. Who
- 14:18Speaker 3: are a couple other people that'll be on the show.
- 14:19Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 6: I mentioned Bishop Baylor who's popular here. He held our
- 14:22Speaker 6: title for over two years. I mentioned Chance Prophet's going
- 14:27Speaker 6: to be there. Oh yeah, and this is going to
- 14:29Speaker 6: be fun three times named Kentucky's strongest man, Donovan Cecil
- 14:35Speaker 6: is going to be here.

- 15:18Speaker 6: comment but.
- 15:19Speaker 3: You'll be behind the scenes and on the scene because
- 15:21Speaker 3: you'll be in the ring doing all the ring.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm the ring announcer, which is cool. And you
- 15:24Speaker 6: you're the one who bestowed that title upon me, so
- 15:26Speaker 6: thank you. I owe you a lot. And the cool
- 15:28Speaker 6: part about bring a ring announcer is that I get

- 18:38Speaker 3: good friend of the program, Kerrie Cooper from the United
- 18:40Speaker 3: Way of Central West Virginia. Good morning, Carrie Day.
- 18:46Speaker 2: How are you you know?
- 18:47Speaker 3: I wasn't even looking at you when you did that.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I had I had my head down here looking at
- 18:52Speaker 3: my notes, and I look up and I just hear
- 18:54Speaker 3: this sound on my on my airwaves, and well, I'm
- 18:58Speaker 3: gonna not say, but I thought Steve had animal was
- 19:00Speaker 3: in the room. That's all I'm going to say.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I mean, I'm all quacked out. I don't know what
- 19:03Speaker 2: to tell you, buddy.
- 19:03Speaker 3: How many do you have somewhere like a saved on
- 19:06Speaker 3: your phone, a list of duck puns?
- 19:09Speaker 9: No, they just come natural. At this point, we're seven
- 19:12Speaker 9: years in. They're natural, all right, So.
- 19:14Speaker 3: We're getting ready to go ducking right. We are all right,
- 19:16Speaker 3: all right, so let's talk about it.
- 19:18Speaker 9: We have sold already nine thousand, one hundred and seventy eight.
- 19:23Speaker 9: We got to hit fifteen thousand, okay, so you know
- 19:26Speaker 9: we've got almost six thousand, a little less than six
- 19:28Speaker 9: thousand to hit between now and Sunday. There's nothing better,
- 19:32Speaker 9: right five dollars five dollars.
- 19:35Speaker 3: And people are listening right now. Where's the best place
- 19:37Speaker 3: and we'll hit this a couple tense.
- 19:38Speaker 1: See.
- 19:39Speaker 9: You can go to the website which is duck Race
- 19:41Speaker 9: one word, do u c k r ACEE dot com,
- 19:45Speaker 9: slash Charleston. You can go to our website United WACWV
- 19:50Speaker 9: dot org. You can go to V one hundred. There's
- 19:53Speaker 9: one thousand places to find it. You can also text
- 19:55Speaker 9: the word duck Race one word to five one five
- 19:58Speaker 9: five five. You can get your duck there. You can
- 20:00Speaker 9: get a loan ranger, double trouble, get the Lucky seven,
- 20:04Speaker 9: the Dirty dozen, or you can get a flock which
- 20:06Speaker 9: is twenty five for one hundred bucks, which is the
- 20:08Speaker 9: most bang for your buck.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Okay, I mean I actually it is because you're double
- 20:13Speaker 3: tripling your numbers. I know, V one hundreds a big
- 20:15Speaker 3: part of this. All of our stations are in Logan.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Scott was actually doing a live broadcast from in front
- 20:21Speaker 3: of the buildings the other day. I asked him, I said,
- 20:23Speaker 3: are you so? Are you charging for travel? Travel expenses?
- 20:25Speaker 3: You know, to take the tent and set it up
- 20:27Speaker 3: out in front of the buildings there up Virginia Street.
- 20:29Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, Logan has been a great, great supporter.
- 20:32Speaker 9: He's worked really hard with us to get these ducks sold.
- 20:34Speaker 3: All right, he's an all right guest. So when people
- 20:36Speaker 3: buy the ducks, A simple question, but where does the
- 20:39Speaker 3: money go?
- 20:39Speaker 9: The money goes back into the United Ways Community Impact Fund,
- 20:42Speaker 9: and that Community Impact Fund funds thirty four nonprofits in
- 20:46Speaker 9: our six county footprint, Boon, Braxton, Clay, can All, Putnam
- 20:49Speaker 9: and Logan. So in that six counties, nonprofits that are
- 20:54Speaker 9: doing the good work, doing the things that you would
- 20:56Speaker 9: want your dollar to do, are funded and you'll be
- 20:59Speaker 9: able to see exactly where that five dollars goes with that.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And we're talking with Kerry Cooper of Way of Central
- 21:04Speaker 3: West Virginia, and you talk about the services that are
- 21:06Speaker 3: provided or talking about those different organizations, Just give me
- 21:09Speaker 3: a couple of the services that that would be funded
- 21:13Speaker 3: by this, I mean a couple things, you know, So
- 21:16Speaker 3: domestic violence shelters, right, yeah, so knows no bounds.
- 21:20Speaker 9: You may know that girl, that that man that's suffering
- 21:23Speaker 9: domestic violence, that five dollars, I don't hear them.
- 21:26Speaker 3: No socioeconomic background either, It could be somebody living at
- 21:30Speaker 3: the head of the holler, It could be somebody in
- 21:32Speaker 3: one of the richer neighborhoods.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And it can be men, yes sir, yes, sir, it
- 21:36Speaker 2: can be anyone.
- 21:37Speaker 3: So that's one of what are some of the other ones.
- 21:39Speaker 9: So you think about recovery, right, individuals that are going
- 21:42Speaker 9: back into recovery, getting getting their stuff. They're ducks in
- 21:45Speaker 9: a row, so to speak. They're getting back on track recovery.
- 21:49Speaker 9: You think about food programs, feeding those that are not
- 21:52Speaker 9: as fortunate as you and I dave to have a
- 21:53Speaker 9: few extra pounds. It absolutely gets us back on the
- 21:57Speaker 9: right track.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Get the duck out of here.
- 21:59Speaker 9: I mean, hello, it feeds kids, It helps kids in
- 22:03Speaker 9: after school programs, It helps take care of those that
- 22:07Speaker 9: are not.
- 22:07Speaker 2: As fortunate as you and I.
- 22:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Well, and that's that's what this whole thing is about.
- 22:12Speaker 3: It's a fun event. It's probably well, I mean, I
- 22:14Speaker 3: know you do this, and you do you know, dancing
- 22:16Speaker 3: with the stars and whatever, but this is, uh, there's
- 22:18Speaker 3: a reason why you do all these fun events because
- 22:21Speaker 3: it's for real serious things.
- 22:22Speaker 9: It is it's it's the easiest way to make our
- 22:26Speaker 9: sometimes sad job happy right, it is. You know, sometimes
- 22:30Speaker 9: we have to say no, and buying a duck is
- 22:33Speaker 9: the easiest way for us to say yes. It's the
- 22:35Speaker 9: easiest way for us to give back into our community,
- 22:38Speaker 9: to help fill our cup. You know, we get to
- 22:40Speaker 9: say yes a lot to individuals, but sometimes there's there's
- 22:43Speaker 9: not a resource for that, and that's that's part of
- 22:45Speaker 9: the gig as raising the fund so that we can
- 22:48Speaker 9: give them away.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I'll talk about the sponsorship for this as well.
- 22:51Speaker 9: So West Virginia American Water is our premier sponsor, has
- 22:54Speaker 9: been from the start. They are one buking us all
- 22:58Speaker 9: the way through. We have Calvin Broyles Jewelers in South Charleston.
- 23:03Speaker 9: We have Employment Express Professionals that is a sponsor. We
- 23:08Speaker 9: have h I'm gonna have to pull up, that's all right,
- 23:11Speaker 9: But I mean we have we have a lot of
- 23:13Speaker 9: sponsors that make sure that we're getting absolutely you know,
- 23:18Speaker 9: they're giving back to their community. But we have Pocoma
- 23:20Speaker 9: Valley Bank, we have United Bank, Charleston stern Mill Regatta,
- 23:24Speaker 9: we have Surf Pro, we have Security America. We have
- 23:28Speaker 9: Better Homes, No, not better Homes, sorry, home Builders Association
- 23:33Speaker 9: that not only gives us an opportunity at their event
- 23:36Speaker 9: each April, they come and tag the ducks, right, so
- 23:39Speaker 9: they come and put the stickers on that that make
- 23:42Speaker 9: them your duck. We have capital market and of course
- 23:45Speaker 9: the city of Charleston V. One hundred always supporting with
- 23:49Speaker 9: us HD Media West Virginia.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Give me your call letters WRC media.
- 23:56Speaker 9: Yes, yes, yeah, I mean you know w O w
- 23:59Speaker 9: K A lot of support that goes a long way
- 24:03Speaker 9: with five dollars a duck.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Okay, and how many ducks are we talking about? Are
- 24:06Speaker 3: you going to dump?
- 24:08Speaker 9: The goal is fifteen thousand, that's the goal, right, so
- 24:10Speaker 9: if we only sell fourteen thousand, we'll only dump fourteen thousand, Okay,
- 24:16Speaker 9: So there there marks so that I don't saturate a race.
- 24:20Speaker 9: That's I don't want to pull out ten ducks. That's
- 24:22Speaker 9: not winning, right, So it the fourteen thousand.
- 24:25Speaker 3: That's only the ones that have been paid for so
- 24:27Speaker 3: to speak, are well in the water, so there's not
- 24:29Speaker 3: going to be That's a very good point because your
- 24:31Speaker 3: goal is fifteen but if you only sell twelve, then
- 24:34Speaker 3: then twelve will go in.
- 24:36Speaker 9: Well, the only one's in, right, so we mark them
- 24:39Speaker 9: in their container. This thousand goes here, this thousand goes there,
- 24:42Speaker 9: so I'll be able to count it down to the
- 24:44Speaker 9: exact number of how many goes in that river.
- 24:47Speaker 3: All right, and talk about your rolling all this, you
- 24:50Speaker 3: and Margaret and the team. You why this is going on?
- 24:52Speaker 3: What are you guys doing just cheering them on?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Or O no, no, no no. I retrieve the winners.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Okay, Mark, all fifteen thousand of them. Whatever, Well, I
- 25:01Speaker 3: get the winners.
- 25:02Speaker 9: So Margaret's at the top of the south Side bridge
- 25:04Speaker 9: with the dump truck with Jimmy Dunn dumping them into
- 25:07Speaker 9: the river. I'm on the bottom in a fire boat
- 25:10Speaker 9: making sure that the winners cross the finish line, those
- 25:13Speaker 9: first nine fabulous prizes, and then the rest of our team.
- 25:17Speaker 9: So that's our family, our volunteers. The Great River Great
- 25:21Speaker 9: Canal River Navy also participates. They are helping us with
- 25:27Speaker 9: the boats. They're retrieving the ducks. We count those ducks,
- 25:30Speaker 9: so we're not leaving fifteen thousand ducks in the canal rip.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, all fifteen.
- 25:34Speaker 9: Thousand come up because they go to another race, right,
- 25:37Speaker 9: so we rent those ducks. They're fresh from Atlanta, they're
- 25:40Speaker 9: going on to Arizona.
- 25:42Speaker 3: So what a fascinating vocation.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Right right, I mean, what a genius way.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Let's say, run into somebody at a bar. What do
- 25:49Speaker 3: you do for a living, buddy, I'm into ducks. I
- 25:51Speaker 3: sell ducks. I rent ducks.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I'm into ducks.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I rent ducks, you know.
- 25:56Speaker 9: I mean it's the easiest way to do it economically.
- 26:00Speaker 9: The most bang for our buck or the most bang
- 26:02Speaker 9: for our duck. It is.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I was going to say the most bang for your cluck,
- 26:05Speaker 3: but that's a cluck. That's a fan as a cousin
- 26:07Speaker 3: to the ducks.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I guess it is. It is. But you know, all
- 26:09Speaker 2: Poultries is love.
- 26:11Speaker 3: So it's all foul play.
- 26:12Speaker 2: It is.
- 26:12Speaker 3: It's all foul play. Carrie Cooper's here from the United
- 26:15Speaker 3: Way of Central West Virginia and the event again is
- 26:18Speaker 3: going to be It starts around eleven eleven o'clock on
- 26:20Speaker 3: Sunday mornings, so and people just love to watch this
- 26:23Speaker 3: because even on like social media, if I've not been there,
- 26:25Speaker 3: I've seen you know, people doing doing the Facebook live
- 26:29Speaker 3: thing and cheering on their ducks, and I.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Mean it's phenomenal to watch.
- 26:33Speaker 9: Yeah, what a sea of yellow in the middle of
- 26:35Speaker 9: that canal that goes that's doing the wonderful thing. I
- 26:39Speaker 9: mean that there's there's a thousand ways to support watching
- 26:42Speaker 9: us is one of them. You can get a Pandora
- 26:44Speaker 9: charm from Calvin Broyles. You can get a JP Owen
- 26:50Speaker 9: T shirt, you can get blink O glass. I mean,
- 26:52Speaker 9: there's there's ways to give back all of those. You know,
- 26:55Speaker 9: our West Virginia.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Companies Texas most whack for your.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Quack that that is absolutely great.
- 27:01Speaker 3: All right, cat texture, you get the trademark on that.
- 27:03Speaker 3: If they see that on a T shirt somewhere, you
- 27:05Speaker 3: call carry and say, hey, that's mine. I do want
- 27:07Speaker 3: to ask you something while you're here, about something very serious.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Though we have fun with the ducks and all the everything,
- 27:11Speaker 3: but we got a lot of hot weather out there
- 27:14Speaker 3: right now, right and I mean we're talking about dangerous
- 27:17Speaker 3: we talk about here. I mean, our temperature is going
- 27:19Speaker 3: to be one hundred. Let alone what the heat indices are.
- 27:23Speaker 3: So some folks need to I'm not talking about Regott,
- 27:25Speaker 3: I'm talking about people. Other people need to be prepared,
- 27:29Speaker 3: you know for that and see how a cooling station.
- 27:32Speaker 9: Yeah, so we need to remember a to do what
- 27:35Speaker 9: West Virginians do best is take care of each other
- 27:37Speaker 9: so you know your neighbors next door, make sure they're cool,
- 27:39Speaker 9: make sure they have water, make sure they have some
- 27:41Speaker 9: way to ventilate their home. There's lots of homes that
- 27:44Speaker 9: the windows doesn't open, so just make sure that they're
- 27:47Speaker 9: keeping cool. In the Charleston area, we have two warmings
- 27:50Speaker 9: or warming that's normally where I'm at polling stations. We
- 27:54Speaker 9: have the Cat Office which is ten fifteen Smith Street.
- 27:56Speaker 9: They're open from eight thirty every morning till seven o'clock
- 27:59Speaker 9: every night. We have the Neighborhood Shop on the West side.
- 28:01Speaker 9: It's three hundred West Washington Street. They're open from eleven
- 28:04Speaker 9: to seven every day. In Saint Albans we have the
- 28:06Speaker 9: Hansford Center. They're going to be open eight to three.
- 28:09Speaker 9: In Boone County, we have the Van Community Center, Wharton
- 28:11Speaker 9: Community Center, and Spruce River Community Center that are going
- 28:15Speaker 9: to be open every day eight to five.
- 28:16Speaker 3: And so those are places that if people don't have
- 28:19Speaker 3: air conditioning or don't have a way to cool, as
- 28:21Speaker 3: you said, sometimes windows don't even open in some of
- 28:23Speaker 3: these homes that you can get they can go there,
- 28:26Speaker 3: no questions, ask and they they can try to stay cool.
- 28:28Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, and follow you know, stay out of the
- 28:31Speaker 9: sun if at all possible. You know, I know some
- 28:33Speaker 9: of us have got to work in the sunshine, right,
- 28:36Speaker 9: but from eleven to three, try to stay cool, stay
- 28:38Speaker 9: in the sunshine.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Drink as much water as you can.
- 28:40Speaker 9: We have a cooler outside of our building, cold water
- 28:45Speaker 9: in it, right, no questions asked, Come through, get that
- 28:48Speaker 9: cold water, stay, stay hydrated, work like clothes not. You know,
- 28:53Speaker 9: it's not the day for black, right, it's a yellow day.
- 28:55Speaker 2: It's a duck day. So where all you're yellow, you're
- 28:59Speaker 2: loose fitting clothing.

- 33:26Speaker 3: I'm doing great, Thanks Davi having me Dad, thank you
- 33:28Speaker 3: for being here. All right, So I want to talk
- 33:29Speaker 3: about the shuttles because there's gonna be a few people
- 33:32Speaker 3: in Charleston over the next little bit. Everything everything starts tomorrow,
- 33:36Speaker 3: of course, with regatta and the CCC as they're calling
- 33:39Speaker 3: the Capital City Celebration at the Capitol and you guys
- 33:43Speaker 3: a KRT are going are gonna take care of do
- 33:46Speaker 3: your best to take care of the parking woes here
- 33:48Speaker 3: talk about exactly.
- 33:49Speaker 16: So we're thrilled into the last several years we've helped
- 33:52Speaker 16: with providing shuttles for the regatta, and this year we're
- 33:55Speaker 16: even more excited the fact that we're not just serving
- 33:57Speaker 16: the regatta with a shuttle, we're also connecting to the CCC,
- 34:00Speaker 16: as you mentioned. So what we're gonna do is we're
- 34:02Speaker 16: gonna have shuttles that run both from the west side
- 34:05Speaker 16: of Charleston down at the Patrick Street Plaza or what
- 34:07Speaker 16: you may refer to the Big Lots parking lot, and
- 34:09Speaker 16: also on the other side of town, we're gonna at
- 34:12Speaker 16: Laidley Field you can park and that way we're gonna
- 34:15Speaker 16: connect both of those shuttles. We're gonna have a thirty
- 34:17Speaker 16: minute shuttle that's going to run and make stops on
- 34:19Speaker 16: Virginia and Quarrier Street along the way for the entirety
- 34:22Speaker 16: of the events. Make sure you can park somewhere and
- 34:24Speaker 16: not have to stress about that.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and that's the best way to go.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I mean, really it is, because I'm guilty as charge man.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Everybody when they go to event, they want to be
- 34:32Speaker 3: as close as possible, close to that car. But between
- 34:35Speaker 3: I mean, it was already hectic with Regatta, but now
- 34:38Speaker 3: we're adding the CCC on top on top of it.
- 34:41Speaker 3: I mean, it's I don't want to say it's going
- 34:42Speaker 3: to be a mass because it's manageable and it's a
- 34:44Speaker 3: good thing to have, but I will say it could
- 34:47Speaker 3: be a It could be a little tense at times,
- 34:50Speaker 3: you know, trying to find a place to park close anyway.
- 34:52Speaker 16: Yes, we want to take that guest work out. We
- 34:54Speaker 16: don't want people to stress about, Hey, where am I
- 34:55Speaker 16: going to park? How's it's going to work out? You know,
- 34:57Speaker 16: do I need to bring money for parking, et cetera.
- 35:00Speaker 16: So this is a completely free shuttle. We're really happy
- 35:02Speaker 16: to do this as part of our public service. We
- 35:04Speaker 16: recognize that not everybody rides the KRT bus during the year,
- 35:07Speaker 16: but every year they can count on us to provide
- 35:09Speaker 16: these public service charters for events like the Regatta, et cetera.
- 35:13Speaker 16: Another item, I mean, you just talked about with carry
- 35:16Speaker 16: here was you know, the heat, So hop on the bus.
- 35:19Speaker 16: It's air conditioned bus. We're going to bring you back
- 35:21Speaker 16: and forth. And if you're walking around and you're really warm,
- 35:24Speaker 16: hop on a bus as you see it drive by.
- 35:25Speaker 16: It's completely free. You can cool down and ride it around.
- 35:28Speaker 16: It's going to be doing a continuous loop every thirty
- 35:31Speaker 16: minutes from nine am until eleven pm, so anytime you're
- 35:35Speaker 16: down at the regatta, you can hop on one of
- 35:36Speaker 16: krt's buses.
- 35:37Speaker 3: We're going to have a.
- 35:38Speaker 16: Trolley decorated there with some two fiftieth celebration items, and
- 35:42Speaker 16: then we're also going to have hopefully one of our
- 35:44Speaker 16: art buses too.
- 35:46Speaker 3: How many buses were going to have out there are proximately.
- 35:48Speaker 16: We're starting with two. And what we do every year
- 35:51Speaker 16: is we kind of ebb and flow based off of
- 35:52Speaker 16: the demand. So if we notice that hey, one bus
- 35:54Speaker 16: would cut it, obviously, you know, if we can run
- 35:57Speaker 16: it with one, we will, but if it takes two
- 35:58Speaker 16: or three, we're going to do the same thing. And
- 36:00Speaker 16: we appreciate our operators for stepping up, especially on their
- 36:02Speaker 16: holiday weekend too.
- 36:03Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are going to take
- 36:05Speaker 3: advantage of the coolness on the buses too. I mean,
- 36:07Speaker 3: you know they may That's one aspect right there, because
- 36:12Speaker 3: even if you are in relatively good health, this kind
- 36:14Speaker 3: of heat affects everybody, you know. I mean when we
- 36:17Speaker 3: get as hot as what we are are now. And
- 36:20Speaker 3: so if you just need to cool down, or if
- 36:22Speaker 3: you say, look, I'm gonna park two or three blocks away,
- 36:25Speaker 3: but man, it's just so hot walk in there. Maybe
- 36:28Speaker 3: I'll just go to one of these places that you
- 36:29Speaker 3: mentioned and hop on the bus. And I want to
- 36:31Speaker 3: worry about it exactly.
- 36:32Speaker 16: And you can go on right on kart dot com
- 36:33Speaker 16: and see the map of exactly our routes. But essentially
- 36:36Speaker 16: they're gonna come down Knable Boulevard on the west side
- 36:38Speaker 16: of town. Then they'll go down Virginia and Quarrier Street
- 36:41Speaker 16: on the east side of town. And another thing too,
- 36:43Speaker 16: is these next couple of days, anytime the temperature gets
- 36:45Speaker 16: sustained above ninety degrees, you know, we do a cooling
- 36:49Speaker 16: bus down at the city center. So if you come
- 36:50Speaker 16: down to lately, even though you're not riding a shuttle,
- 36:52Speaker 16: you can hop on the bus that's parked there and
- 36:54Speaker 16: cool down. Because we recognize how dangerous you know, these
- 36:57Speaker 16: temperatures can get for folks.
- 36:58Speaker 3: And a text here says our babies and toddlers legally
- 37:01Speaker 3: required to be in car seats on public buses or
- 37:03Speaker 3: these shuttles.
- 37:04Speaker 16: They're not required to be in car seats. No, I mean,
- 37:06Speaker 16: I would suggest that's probably safer. But you know we're
- 37:09Speaker 16: going at low speeds.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Especially, say, what's the speed like thirty twenty.
- 37:13Speaker 16: I can't imagine the speed limits higher than twenty five
- 37:16Speaker 16: anywhere along this route because you're well, you're just on
- 37:18Speaker 16: the boulevard and then you're coming down the side streets.
- 37:20Speaker 3: And look, you know, if you're coming to town and
- 37:22Speaker 3: you're thinking about, well I thought about you know, using KRT.
- 37:25Speaker 3: With the price of gas and whatever, may be a
- 37:27Speaker 3: little bit more. It's an opportunity for you to check
- 37:29Speaker 3: it out. Because you get some nice buses. People can
- 37:30Speaker 3: get on them and say, hey, this is nice, this
- 37:32Speaker 3: is pretty good.
- 37:33Speaker 16: Yeah, we hope it's a nice, clean, first impression for
- 37:36Speaker 16: folks who may come to the capital city for the
- 37:38Speaker 16: first time and they hop on a bus and they
- 37:40Speaker 16: understand how public transit can really be a driver for tourism,
- 37:43Speaker 16: for economic development, ET cetera. That's our goal connect people
- 37:46Speaker 16: to opportunity.
- 37:47Speaker 3: The last time I had you on, I think it
- 37:48Speaker 3: was just last week. We were on maybe the week before,
- 37:50Speaker 3: but you were talking about some changes that will be
- 37:53Speaker 3: coming to kart. You guys, are you know, constantly looking
- 37:57Speaker 3: at things and what's working, what's not working. I think
- 38:00Speaker 3: you were talking about having some public meetings. You have
- 38:02Speaker 3: any updates from the last time of year.
- 38:04Speaker 16: On, Yeah, So the two updates there. On July twentieth,
- 38:07Speaker 16: we are transitioning four of our routes from fixed route service.
- 38:10Speaker 16: That's Route eleven, sixteen, eighteen, and ten. We're going to
- 38:13Speaker 16: turn those into kr T plus zones. So that's the
- 38:15Speaker 16: ride share app that folks have been familiar with here
- 38:18Speaker 16: in Kanawuk County over the last couple of years. So
- 38:21Speaker 16: that's a big change happened on July twentieth. And then
- 38:23Speaker 16: we're still we're working together with some of our stakeholders
- 38:26Speaker 16: behind the scenes. I want to make sure that we
- 38:27Speaker 16: meet with everyone we can as far as potential revenue
- 38:31Speaker 16: sources before we go out to the worst case scenario,
- 38:33Speaker 16: which is having some of these public hearings about the
- 38:36Speaker 16: tough decisions that our board will have to make as
- 38:37Speaker 16: far as service levels, et cetera. So I want to
- 38:40Speaker 16: make sure we cross every T and dot every I
- 38:42Speaker 16: before we come to that level, because our passengers are
- 38:44Speaker 16: the most important thing to us.

- 39:07Speaker 3: doing as far as the shuttles go, and we do
- 39:09Speaker 3: want to kind of point people. I know, sometimes we
- 39:12Speaker 3: throw a lot of information out there. You can go
- 39:14Speaker 3: to the website and your social media and you'll have
- 39:16Speaker 3: everything posted out there.

- 39:23Speaker 16: show you the map and again it's essentially from nine
- 39:26Speaker 16: am to eleven pm. You can hop on a trolley
- 39:29Speaker 16: or one of our buses.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It's a free shuttle.
- 39:31Speaker 16: It's going to run from the west side of town
- 39:32Speaker 16: if you park at the Patrick Street Plaza or the
- 39:34Speaker 16: east side of town, if you park at Leiley Field,
- 39:37Speaker 16: those will be connected and running all day long, and
- 39:39Speaker 16: just hop on there and have a great.
- 39:40Speaker 3: How many people can the bus hold on average?
- 39:42Speaker 16: If you've got standing room only, you can probably fit
- 39:45Speaker 16: a little over thirty thirty thirty five I mean again,
- 39:47Speaker 16: going at those low speeds, that's not going to be
- 39:49Speaker 16: an issue. And we'll keep running them. And if we
- 39:51Speaker 16: get feedback, you know, we work with Jane Bostic and
- 39:53Speaker 16: her team and everyone there at the Regatta Commission. If
- 39:55Speaker 16: they give us updates during the day, hey, you know
- 39:57Speaker 16: there are people waiting on the bus, we'll ramp it up.
- 40:00Speaker 16: We want to make sure that we do this right
- 40:02Speaker 16: and we recognize the responsibility of getting people safely from
- 40:05Speaker 16: their cars to the events.
- 40:07Speaker 3: All right, and we want to urge people to try
- 40:10Speaker 3: to use these I mean again, like I said, I'm
- 40:12Speaker 3: guilty is like everybody else. We want to try to
- 40:13Speaker 3: get as close as possible, Like the security of knowing
- 40:16Speaker 3: my car, my truck is just two or three blocks away.
- 40:18Speaker 3: But in an event like this with the regatta, with
- 40:21Speaker 3: so many thousands of people coming in, and then the
- 40:24Speaker 3: Capital City event, you know, the CCC happening, and with
- 40:28Speaker 3: the Ferris Wheel and with Alabama and all these people,
- 40:31Speaker 3: I mean, it's going to be a lot. And you
- 40:34Speaker 3: can certainly help folks out, you know, everybody out if
- 40:37Speaker 3: you just take the shuttles exactly.
- 40:39Speaker 16: And another point of aspect too is we will make
- 40:41Speaker 16: stops on the corner of Virginia and Quarry or also
- 40:43Speaker 16: so if you do decide, hey, I want to park
- 40:45Speaker 16: on one of these side streets to be closer, you
- 40:47Speaker 16: can do that. But you can also still pick up

- 44:35Speaker 3: thirteen News in Tonight Live anchor Mande Bear and am
- 44:37Speaker 3: Me powered by a Selango law. It's Wednesday, meaning we're
- 44:40Speaker 3: going to introduce you to another wonderful West Virginian and
- 44:43Speaker 3: it being July first and not a lot of new
- 44:45Speaker 3: laws will go into effect. One of those has to
- 44:48Speaker 3: do with vaping. W David McCormick, who serves out of
- 44:50Speaker 3: mom County, is going to join us to talk about
- 44:52Speaker 3: what that means. If you're a vapor or you love one,
- 44:55Speaker 3: you know you need to know some rules are changing
- 44:58Speaker 3: any West Virginia've already changed night last night, so delicate. McCormick,
- 45:01Speaker 3: because it was kind of his baby, is going to
- 45:03Speaker 3: join us during the two o'clock hour to talk about Also,
- 45:06Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins will have the news, Dave Wilson will stop by,
- 45:08Speaker 3: and the president of the company WVRC Media, the Big Guy,
- 45:13Speaker 3: the Big Cheese, the Big Cahuna eld PRESIDENTE George Pellettier
- 45:18Speaker 3: is going to join us on the show. Anytime I
- 45:20Speaker 3: get word that the President's going to be on the show,
- 45:22Speaker 3: I think I'm done something wrong. But they did not
- 45:24Speaker 3: ask for my key card. So George Pelletteer is going
- 45:28Speaker 3: to be on the show because at this hour it's
- 45:32Speaker 3: probably over by now. I've been a little tied up,
- 45:34Speaker 3: you know, for the last forty five minutes or so.
- 45:36Speaker 3: There is a major announcement being made impacting a lot
- 45:38Speaker 3: of our stations in the company. Now, our stations here
- 45:42Speaker 3: in Charleston not impacted by this, but several of our
- 45:45Speaker 3: stations are the Morgantown area, Eastern Panhandle, et cetera, et cetera.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Pretty big deal. So we're going to talk to King
- 45:52Speaker 3: George about that on the show today, plus your calls
- 45:54Speaker 3: and texts and open line West Virginia Metro News, Midday
- 45:57Speaker 3: thirteen News in Tonight Live Anchor Mander Baron and Me
- 45:59Speaker 3: coming up at Today powered by a Selango Law on
- 46:01Speaker 3: this show tomorrow it is for God to Day, opening
- 46:04Speaker 3: day of the Regatta. Charleston Mayor Amy Shooler a good
- 46:06Speaker 3: one on the show tomorrow. Of course, America is two
- 46:08Speaker 3: fifty going on the CCC at the Capitol Complex and
- 46:12Speaker 3: gets underway tomorrow as well. And just to let you know,
- 46:15Speaker 3: Charleston in you know, it's not the only area celebrated
- 46:18Speaker 3: America's two fifty, because every little town across America's got
- 46:22Speaker 3: something going on. Larger town, smaller town is one of those.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Is the area that I call home Hurricane and the
- 46:29Speaker 3: mayor of Hurricane, Scott Edwards, and Amanda from the city
- 46:33Speaker 3: as we call her Amanda Smith Raimi marketing director is
- 46:38Speaker 3: for the City of Hurricane. Both are going to join
- 46:39Speaker 3: us on the show tomorrow to talk about what the
- 46:41Speaker 3: Hurricane community is doing for the fourth of July. They
- 46:43Speaker 3: get a big festival plan. And also on the show,
- 46:46Speaker 3: Chuck McGill from Capitol Market is going to stop by.
- 46:49Speaker 3: They have got as part of the all the festivities
- 46:51Speaker 3: going on in Charleston, they have this big kids cooking
- 46:53Speaker 3: event going on over at Capitol Market. So we will
- 46:56Speaker 3: talk to all those folks about that coming up on
- 46:59Speaker 3: the show tomorrow. I mean, I got a couple of
- 47:03Speaker 3: text here. I got a couple of things I want
- 47:04Speaker 3: to get to Texas. Dave did the Supreme Court just
- 47:06Speaker 3: opened the door for the President to fire them if
- 47:09Speaker 3: he wants. This was on this ruling a couple of
- 47:11Speaker 3: days ago. That's that's not the way I heard it.
- 47:14Speaker 3: But I do understood. But but I that's not the
- 47:17Speaker 3: way I understand it. Texas Republicans have been a failure
- 47:20Speaker 3: for our state and country. Need change bad, says a texture.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Tex says an old regatta event that was always popular
- 47:27Speaker 3: and fun that I would love to see return, the
- 47:29Speaker 3: Anything the Floats race. It was always great for some lapse,
- 47:33Speaker 3: according to a Texture. But Dave Allen showing five of
- 47:37Speaker 3: DLive has brought to you in part by the all
- 47:39Speaker 3: new Generations Ford of Hurricane Visit Generations Forward dot Com.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I want to tell you just a really quick story.
- 47:45Speaker 3: You know, July first kind of in the in political terms,
- 47:50Speaker 3: the physical terms, so on and so forth. This is
- 47:52Speaker 3: kind of the time when you know, not only the
- 47:54Speaker 3: calendar flips, but a lot of as I mentioned earlier,
- 47:57Speaker 3: new laws go into effect and people were in office
- 48:01Speaker 3: that either opted not one of the ones that opted
- 48:04Speaker 3: not to run, some of the mayors and whatever. The
- 48:06Speaker 3: last day in office yesterday on midday, we talked to
- 48:08Speaker 3: one of my favorite people in the world, the mayor
- 48:09Speaker 3: of Ripley Carolyn Raider, who officially now she's going to
- 48:13Speaker 3: handle everything with the Ripley for the July activities, but
- 48:16Speaker 3: as far as mayor she has done there. Another one
- 48:18Speaker 3: is the mayor of the community of Bell, David Fletcher,
- 48:21Speaker 3: and I've had him on the show several times talking
- 48:24Speaker 3: about various things going on in Bell, in that area
- 48:26Speaker 3: of Canawa County. And he's not running for reelection. There
- 48:31Speaker 3: is a new mayor, and I worked to get the
- 48:34Speaker 3: new mayor and get her on the show at some point.
- 48:35Speaker 3: But I just want to say big shout out to
- 48:37Speaker 3: Dave Fletcher, mayor of Bell. He was on the show
- 48:40Speaker 3: several times over the last six years, just a stand
- 48:43Speaker 3: up guy. And he called me yesterday morning, I think
- 48:46Speaker 3: it was yesterday morning. Day's kind of run together after
- 48:48Speaker 3: a while, but he called me and he just said, hey,
- 48:51Speaker 3: it's my last day is mayor. I just want to
- 48:53Speaker 3: say thank you for what you've done for the community
- 48:54Speaker 3: of Bell, always given us airtime and everything, and it's
- 48:59Speaker 3: been a pleasure to know you. And I said, well,
- 49:00Speaker 3: you're not You're just not going to be mayor anymore. Man,
- 49:02Speaker 3: You're not going away forever. So I just wanted to
- 49:05Speaker 3: make note of that that the mayor of Belle Dave Fletcher,
- 49:07Speaker 3: did reach out to me and thank me and thank
- 49:10Speaker 3: the station for all we've done for them there. I mean,
- 49:12Speaker 3: that's what we do here, you know, That's that's what
- 49:14Speaker 3: we do. We try to give airtime to all the community,
- 49:17Speaker 3: especially here in the Canal Valley. I don't think there's
- 49:20Speaker 3: a mayor around here, but I haven't interviewed over the
- 49:22Speaker 3: last six years. I'm going to continue to do so
- 49:24Speaker 3: to celebrate Kadaw County, Putnam County, and everybody in our
- 49:28Speaker 3: listening area. But hats off. And if you think Dave
- 49:30Speaker 3: Fletcher is retiring right off into the sunset, and you
- 49:33Speaker 3: got another thing coming because he's still working. He's just
- 49:36Speaker 3: not going to be the mayor anymore. There is a
- 49:39Speaker 3: sad story from the world of music. Victor Willis has died.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Now who is Victor Willis? You ask, Well, he was
- 49:46Speaker 3: the lead singer of the Village People, you know, Ymca,
- 49:49Speaker 3: Macho man in the Navy, et cetera. He was the
- 49:52Speaker 3: cop in the Village People. Sometimes he was the Navy
- 49:57Speaker 3: guy as well. I just want I I heard this
- 50:00Speaker 3: story reported this morning, and I remember as a kid
- 50:03Speaker 3: the Village People and the whole disco thing whatever. I
- 50:07Speaker 3: just I always thought this was very odd, is that
- 50:11Speaker 3: President Trump's fascination with that song YMCA. Now, look, it's
- 50:17Speaker 3: a good time party song. It's been played. It's like
- 50:19Speaker 3: it's like in the Constitution, has to be played at
- 50:21Speaker 3: every wedding you go to. And you know, you know,
- 50:25Speaker 3: the anytime people get together, any any DJ who's doing
- 50:29Speaker 3: a party, our own Matt Murphy or JK or any
- 50:32Speaker 3: of the other EJ, any of the other fine DJs
- 50:35Speaker 3: we have here in the Canaal Valley, they know you
- 50:37Speaker 3: got to play YMCA at some point. But I just
- 50:41Speaker 3: never really understood the President's fascination with it, and I
- 50:47Speaker 3: it is a fun song. I don't know that anybody's
- 50:51Speaker 3: really told him about what what the song means. I'm
- 50:56Speaker 3: just saying, don't know that he fully understands. But you know, anyway,
- 51:01Speaker 3: Rip Victor willis the lead singer of the Village People.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Speaking of concerts again, the first on one of the
- 51:09Speaker 3: first big concerts that we got, well, actually the first
- 51:11Speaker 3: the concert is of Wanoa and Melissa Ethridge tomorrow night.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Because of the heat that concert, the time is instead
- 51:18Speaker 3: of being six poin thirty gonna be seven thirty tomorrow night.
- 51:20Speaker 3: And as I said, I'm sure that the we Gotta
- 51:23Speaker 3: folks got no complaints whatsoever out of Melissa Ethridge and Winoa.
- 51:26Speaker 3: They probably said, back it up to eleven o'clock if
- 51:29Speaker 3: you have to. But we ain't wanting to go out
- 51:31Speaker 3: there and sweat too much. But that concert tomorrow night
- 51:33Speaker 3: will be at seven thirty. Coming up tomorrow again, we're
- 51:35Speaker 3: gonna talking about some things at Capital Market folks from
- 51:37Speaker 3: the city of Hurricane we'll join us on the show
- 51:38Speaker 3: tomorrow brout their fourth of July celebration and Charleston Mayor
- 51:41Speaker 3: Amy Schuler Goodwen kicking off We're Gotta. We'll see you
- 51:44Speaker 3: then see you later today on midday Till then, have
- 51:46Speaker 3: fun and love somebody.
