- 1:04Speaker 4: So yet it's too bad?
- 1:05Speaker 5: But what did you expect? It's a podcast called twenty.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Five Whistles twenty wine blow whistle. We are here.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Last night, I fell asleep before the end of the game,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but Broncos lost. I hated that, So I guess Broncos
- 1:21Speaker 1: and Chargers are now nine and six. Yes, And then
- 1:24Speaker 1: there's a drop kick thing or if you fair catch
- 1:26Speaker 1: it wherever you fair catch it, then if you want
- 1:27Speaker 1: to try to kick a field goal from there, that
- 1:29Speaker 1: then happens. Since I think the Bronosaurus in the earth,
- 1:34Speaker 1: yeah something, but it's been like fifty years or something.
- 1:36Speaker 7: I gotta be honest with you.
- 1:37Speaker 8: I know that rule.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I've not seen that rule looks like a Canadian Football
- 1:40Speaker 1: League rule more than it's like you guys saw that
- 1:44Speaker 1: live not live, Okay, because I didn't either. I was,
- 1:48Speaker 1: but yeah, kind of weird and cool. I wonder if
- 1:50Speaker 1: if they knew that pride, like, did he fair catch
- 1:54Speaker 1: it on purpose?
- 1:55Speaker 4: There?
- 1:56Speaker 1: For that reason, because I didn't hear them talking pretty
- 1:59Speaker 1: and posted to watch the clip?
- 2:00Speaker 7: Do you know?
- 2:01Speaker 8: No, but there's also a penalty, yes, which is why,
- 2:03Speaker 8: which is why we moved back.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yes, okay, so that's but my question was yes, because
- 2:09Speaker 1: so they had to do the kickback.
- 2:10Speaker 7: Yeah, so was it?
- 2:11Speaker 1: Hey if you if you can fair catch it, we'll
- 2:15Speaker 1: try to kick it.
- 2:16Speaker 7: Who cares? Right?
- 2:17Speaker 1: It had to be though, like who cares? I literally
- 2:22Speaker 1: don't care.
- 2:23Speaker 7: It is cool. Yeah, it was different. Read did you
- 2:25Speaker 7: watch it?
- 2:26Speaker 1: No?
- 2:26Speaker 9: I was thinking of a completely different type of drop
- 2:28Speaker 9: kick or were you dropping on the ground kick in
- 2:29Speaker 9: the fold goal? No, I was thinking of like kick
- 2:31Speaker 9: or got drop kicked?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Like, oh oh Readheart is talking about it. He thought
- 2:35Speaker 1: like Chris Jericho came, Yeah, that's that's why I drop kick.
- 2:38Speaker 7: Really, I don't know. I thought it was a fight
- 2:40Speaker 7: or something.
- 2:41Speaker 10: I don't know what you were talking about.
- 2:42Speaker 7: Reid got in a wreck yesterday?
- 2:43Speaker 8: Oh did you really?
- 2:46Speaker 9: On my way home?
- 2:47Speaker 8: Man?
- 2:48Speaker 7: Man? No, I wasn't too bad. I mean I was uh.
- 2:52Speaker 9: I was about to get onto the highway over here,
- 2:54Speaker 9: but a lady pulled out in front of me, and
- 2:56Speaker 9: I hit her, and then the grace.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Hold on because you need to say because people will go, oh,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you hit her when you say like that, she pulled
- 3:02Speaker 1: out in front of you. Yeah, like right in front
- 3:06Speaker 1: of me.
- 3:06Speaker 7: Her fault. Let's just get that completely.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yeah, retake the responsibility for everything is having his fault.
- 3:11Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, no.
- 3:12Speaker 7: He's so sweet, like, yeah, yeah, go ahead.
- 3:13Speaker 1: No.
- 3:14Speaker 9: But the greatest part was then she left. It's like
- 3:17Speaker 9: I hit him, run in the middle, but there were
- 3:19Speaker 9: so many people around, like people were filming her as she.
- 3:21Speaker 7: Was driving off and got hit, but it was your fault.
- 3:24Speaker 5: You got hit.
- 3:25Speaker 9: Yeah, I got hit and run And then it took
- 3:27Speaker 9: like twenty five minutes for the cops to get there.
- 3:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 9: I saw a cop literally drive over my rubble, look
- 3:35Speaker 9: at me and keep going because I was like, oh,
- 3:38Speaker 9: finally he's here.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Maybe a robber one, yeah, but the right one eventually came.
- 3:44Speaker 7: Right one eventually came.
- 3:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 7: The bar messed up. Yeah, it's pretty jacked up. And
- 3:48Speaker 7: I how'd you get in today?
- 3:51Speaker 9: Well, half of my like plastic underneath the wheel flew
- 3:54Speaker 9: off while I was on the highway today getting here,
- 3:57Speaker 9: So that was fun.
- 3:59Speaker 7: I didn't know.
- 3:59Speaker 9: I didn't know it was loose under there were your insurance?
- 4:02Speaker 7: What's you're deductible?
- 4:03Speaker 5: Do you know? I do not know?
- 4:04Speaker 9: But the cop was making it seem like, do you
- 4:07Speaker 9: know what a deductible is?
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:09Speaker 9: Like how much you have you have to already have
- 4:11Speaker 9: paid for or you have to pay now?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't know what it is before you get
- 4:15Speaker 1: it fixed. Did you know did you call your insurance company?
- 4:17Speaker 9: I haven't yet called him today even know.
- 4:20Speaker 1: You got a wreck yesterday midday?
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:22Speaker 5: Do you know how much the damage is going to be?
- 4:24Speaker 4: No?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Why did you not call the insurance company?
- 4:27Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:27Speaker 7: Now I should have.
- 4:29Speaker 3: It doesn't matter though, if you have the police report.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I think if you have that then you can call
- 4:33Speaker 3: them kind of whenever.
- 4:33Speaker 1: But I would say it gets probably the sooner the
- 4:36Speaker 1: fixed faster the faster you make the call, and the
- 4:38Speaker 1: more you know what you have to pay in order
- 4:40Speaker 1: to get it fixed, and Christmas is coming up, and
- 4:42Speaker 1: are you going to get a rental car? All those
- 4:44Speaker 1: things factor in based on how quickly you make your
- 4:47Speaker 1: decision to call the insurance company.
- 4:49Speaker 8: And insurance companies are you know they'll look for any
- 4:51Speaker 8: way to Oh?
- 4:53Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 4:54Speaker 9: Yeah, he gave me like a little it's got like
- 4:56Speaker 9: the little number on the on the ticket that he said,
- 4:58Speaker 9: just give that to him and it'll.
- 5:00Speaker 8: So what's up with a lady? Did you get a
- 5:01Speaker 8: license plate?
- 5:02Speaker 9: Or in I got her license plate? I mean she
- 5:04Speaker 9: drove off like like three miles an hour till the
- 5:07Speaker 9: paper house.
- 5:08Speaker 1: He doesn't know who shit or where she is. And
- 5:10Speaker 1: also she thought about stopping, didn't she She.
- 5:12Speaker 9: Did, she pulled, She pulled in front of me, and
- 5:15Speaker 9: like I put my hazards on and she kind of
- 5:17Speaker 9: stopped and stayed there. And then somebody, some lady walked
- 5:19Speaker 9: up and she was talking to her for a second,
- 5:21Speaker 9: and so I was about to get out of my car,
- 5:23Speaker 9: and then all of a sudden, she.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Just slowly started back into the lane and.
- 5:27Speaker 9: Then just kind of just got ride in front of
- 5:28Speaker 9: somebody else and just kind of slowly went away.
- 5:30Speaker 1: She's like whistling, thinking no one sees her just into
- 5:32Speaker 1: the distance.
- 5:33Speaker 9: I'm like, there's literally people out here just filming you. Like,
- 5:36Speaker 9: but he patient literally dang, So she one dred percent,
- 5:40Speaker 9: didn't have a license, had drugs in the car.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Wait, no, he's saying he's giving one of the that no,
- 5:47Speaker 1: you're thinking, okay, no insurance. I would think she ether
- 5:53Speaker 1: I had no insurance. The person I had no insurance
- 5:55Speaker 1: or worn out for their arrest, or they shouldn't be here.
- 5:58Speaker 1: There are reasons why. Well, I'm sorry that happened to you.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I would call insurance immediately, even when we finish this,
- 6:04Speaker 1: just and ask if you get a rental car as
- 6:06Speaker 1: part of because again, if you're traveling for the holidays,
- 6:09Speaker 1: that's not gonna be good.
- 6:11Speaker 9: I was thinking, thinking I could make it. If I
- 6:13Speaker 9: could make it home, then I'll be home for like
- 6:15Speaker 9: five or six days.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You're gonna drive six seven hours on a broken car.
- 6:19Speaker 3: The problem is you don't know what's really broken Arkansas. Yes,
- 6:23Speaker 3: oh no, no, no, no, you just call and see
- 6:25Speaker 3: if they'll give you a rental car.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I think at home here, no even that though I'm like, no,
- 6:30Speaker 1: he's like I was driving in two wills came.
- 6:32Speaker 5: On that what he said, I think.
- 6:33Speaker 9: I think the worst of it flew off though. To
- 6:35Speaker 9: be honest, I drive on sparks for eight my lap, yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 9: because I was worried about it because it was kind
- 6:39Speaker 9: of loose, but like it was still attached.
- 6:41Speaker 7: But it's gone.
- 6:42Speaker 1: We're gonna do an interview here. You should go call
- 6:44Speaker 1: your insurance company.
- 6:45Speaker 9: Okay, yeah, I'll do that.
- 6:46Speaker 1: We're gonna have Andy Staples. He's on right now.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Uh.
- 6:49Speaker 1: One of my favorites when it comes to covering college football.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Andy Staples. He's worked for SI the Athletic, now works
- 6:54Speaker 1: for ON three. He's got his own show nine thirty
- 6:56Speaker 1: am Eastern Monday through Thursday. Listen wherever you get your podcast.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Big thanks to any for coming on a preview in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the big weekend and just talking sports. And he has
- 7:04Speaker 1: a microphone in his car, which you hear we were
- 7:06Speaker 1: super shock guy.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Legit.
- 7:07Speaker 1: By the way, this is this is a great one
- 7:09Speaker 1: because he's really funny. And I'm honestly thinking to myself
- 7:13Speaker 1: when we start this, oh, he must not have got
- 7:15Speaker 1: back to his wherever he's doing the interview from his studio,
- 7:19Speaker 1: his hotel, if he's covering a game, where his podcast
- 7:21Speaker 1: setup is, he's a microphone and he's in his car,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and the audio in a car is never as good?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Could you do it on your phone? And I'm a
- 7:28Speaker 1: lot of like, oh man, And then all of a
- 7:29Speaker 1: sudden he pulls a microphone from like under his seat
- 7:32Speaker 1: and it sounded amazing wild. Here he is, Andy Staples.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Oh he's got a mic. Oh, dang Angel.
- 7:39Speaker 6: We we do the professional setup from this this rented
- 7:43Speaker 6: Nissan Frontier you're in.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I felt like I'm letting people. Now when I don't
- 7:48Speaker 1: drive around with a mic. Now, I felt like I'm
- 7:50Speaker 1: a loser. That's the coolest thing I've ever seen. Mike,
- 7:53Speaker 1: let me know when we're rolling. We are rolling, we
- 7:55Speaker 1: happen to have me be in surprise, he pulled the
- 7:57Speaker 1: mic out of his box. Holy Andy, dude, I'm a
- 8:02Speaker 1: big fan. So thank you for coming on and talking
- 8:04Speaker 1: with us.
- 8:05Speaker 6: Well, thank you, Bobby. I appreciate this. Yeah, this is
- 8:07Speaker 6: a I've sort of learned to have everything everywhere. It
- 8:11Speaker 6: goes back to my original career as a newspaper reporter.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I was an intern at Florida Today down in Melbourne, Florida.
- 8:18Speaker 6: I got a signed to do some generic editorial on
- 8:22Speaker 6: beating the heat, and I had the brilliant idea of
- 8:24Speaker 6: going to the nude beach and asking those people what
- 8:28Speaker 6: they did to beat the heat and not get sunburned.
- 8:31Speaker 6: And I realized that I was, you know, dressed in
- 8:34Speaker 6: the dress code of the newspaper. I was wearing a
- 8:36Speaker 6: white polo shirt and green slacks, which made me look
- 8:39Speaker 6: exactly like a Brevard County Sheriff's deputy.
- 8:42Speaker 7: So they were all running away from me.
- 8:44Speaker 6: And then I remember I realized at that moment, like,
- 8:46Speaker 6: always be prepared for anything that might happen. So I
- 8:50Speaker 6: always keep a change of clothes. I keep multiple kinds
- 8:52Speaker 6: of clothes with me, and I keep every single audio
- 8:55Speaker 6: visual piece of equipment I need. If I might need
- 8:58Speaker 6: to get on somebody's podcast, video or audio.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It's a plus. And now I shall set up a
- 9:03Speaker 1: full studio in the back of my car, like I've
- 9:04Speaker 1: been motivated. Sometimes you get inspired in the most random
- 9:06Speaker 1: of places, and today it's Andy Staples. Hey, let's start Andy,
- 9:10Speaker 1: You're the guy I wanted to talk to about this.
- 9:11Speaker 1: So Carson Beck not going to play first round, maybe
- 9:15Speaker 1: not going to play at all, who knows, But what's
- 9:18Speaker 1: up with Georgia. Obviously that's their guy, but it's not
- 9:21Speaker 1: like he's been playing great all year. Your thoughts on
- 9:23Speaker 1: Georgia shot.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, it's interesting in the reaction to it because
- 9:26Speaker 6: Gunner Stockton probably played better than Carson Beck in the
- 9:29Speaker 6: in the sec Championship game against Texas, and so the
- 9:32Speaker 6: thought is is it really going to be that different?
- 9:35Speaker 6: And you know, I don't know that Carson made that
- 9:40Speaker 6: big of a difference for Georgia this year as long
- 9:42Speaker 6: as Gunner Stockton is what we saw in that second
- 9:46Speaker 6: half of the SEC Championship game. Now, that could have
- 9:48Speaker 6: just been him playing out of his mind because the
- 9:50Speaker 6: adrenalin is running. But my guess is Gunner Stockton with
- 9:55Speaker 6: three weeks of practice with the ones because remember this
- 9:58Speaker 6: wasn't a situation where the back was getting a lot
- 10:00Speaker 6: of playing time outside of mop up duty. So when
- 10:03Speaker 6: he went into that game, he probably had had no
- 10:05Speaker 6: practice with the ones that week. I mean, they were
- 10:07Speaker 6: operating clearly from a very limited menu. But this is
- 10:10Speaker 6: a guy who's been with the program the entire time.
- 10:13Speaker 6: You know, he knows their playbook. So my guess is
- 10:16Speaker 6: we see a more polished version of Gunner Stockton when
- 10:20Speaker 6: they play whoever wins the Notre Dame Indiana game. And
- 10:23Speaker 6: so I think I think they're gonna be okay, because again,
- 10:27Speaker 6: you know, Carson Beck good quarterback. I don't know that
- 10:30Speaker 6: he was a transcendent quarterback who without him, they can't
- 10:35Speaker 6: be who they are. I think they can still be
- 10:37Speaker 6: a really good team and compete for the national title
- 10:41Speaker 6: with a quarterback who's about the same.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So just one more Georgia question than regarding Beck, because
- 10:47Speaker 1: when the season started he was the guy most people
- 10:49Speaker 1: were like, number one quarterback off the board could be
- 10:51Speaker 1: the number one overall pick. Do you feel like that
- 10:54Speaker 1: was a miscalculation that he really wasn't that, or that
- 10:57Speaker 1: he had some sort of I don't like the pressure.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm not able to perform as well as you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: my potential. As where do you think that fell off?
- 11:08Speaker 6: Well, it fell off when Lad McConkie went to the
- 11:10Speaker 6: Chargers and brock Bauers went to the Raiders.
- 11:11Speaker 7: That's where it fell off.
- 11:12Speaker 6: I mean, he had elite targets last year and he
- 11:16Speaker 6: doesn't have those this year. And it you know, certain
- 11:19Speaker 6: quarterbacks make their targets better, and certain targets make their
- 11:23Speaker 6: quarterbacks better. And I think brock Bauers, you've seen he's
- 11:27Speaker 6: probably the best tight end in the NFL already, so
- 11:30Speaker 6: you see what he was probably doing for George's offense.
- 11:34Speaker 6: And then Lad mcconkee obviously was you know, a huge
- 11:37Speaker 6: contributor to George's offense as well, so I think that
- 11:39Speaker 6: probably has more.
- 11:40Speaker 7: To do with it than anything else.
- 11:42Speaker 1: College football playoff greatest thing to happen in sports to
- 11:44Speaker 1: me in the past twenty years, because it made so
- 11:46Speaker 1: many games matter the last two and three weeks of
- 11:48Speaker 1: the season, you know, aside from how you feel about
- 11:51Speaker 1: the seedings or and I think there are things that
- 11:53Speaker 1: are going to learn this year and going to change,
- 11:55Speaker 1: But it for me, it was great, not even because
- 11:58Speaker 1: of the tournament, but because of what mattered the last
- 12:02Speaker 1: three to four weeks of the regular season. So I'm
- 12:04Speaker 1: a big, a plus fan of it. That being said,
- 12:06Speaker 1: there are some issues. I think now you look and
- 12:09Speaker 1: you go, probably you just give the top four seeds
- 12:11Speaker 1: to the best four teams, et cetera, et cetera. What
- 12:13Speaker 1: do you think will be the first thing change because
- 12:15Speaker 1: there won't be any wholesale changes. Are I going to
- 12:17Speaker 1: do five things at once? What do you think when
- 12:19Speaker 1: they finally do if they add teams first, if they
- 12:22Speaker 1: change how the seeding, what do you think they'll change first?
- 12:26Speaker 6: Well, I was under the impression that they would keep
- 12:28Speaker 6: this exact format for the first two years, because that's
- 12:31Speaker 6: the last two years of the original TV deal for
- 12:34Speaker 6: the College Football Playoff and then they would change whatever
- 12:38Speaker 6: they wanted to change for twenty six. But it sounds
- 12:40Speaker 6: like they can change the seting for next year if
- 12:42Speaker 6: they really want to. People realize very quickly, and we
- 12:45Speaker 6: said it all season all season, were like, well, the
- 12:48Speaker 6: five seeds probably going to have the best situation. Turned
- 12:51Speaker 6: out the sixth seed probably actually has the cleanest path
- 12:54Speaker 6: in this particular case, because I don't think I don't
- 12:56Speaker 6: think any of us predicted that the Mountain West champ
- 12:59Speaker 6: would get the three seed and the Big twelve champ
- 13:02Speaker 6: would get the four seed. I don't think we We
- 13:04Speaker 6: may have thought the Big twelve champ would got the
- 13:05Speaker 6: four seed, but we figured probably the ACC champ would
- 13:07Speaker 6: be the three seed.
- 13:08Speaker 7: So I think that probably.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Showed when that bracket came out, It's like, all right,
- 13:15Speaker 6: this is ridiculous because Penn State probably wound up with
- 13:19Speaker 6: a better path than Oregon into the semi finals. In
- 13:22Speaker 6: Oregon beat Penn State in the Big Ten championship game,
- 13:25Speaker 6: and I know people say, oh, but Penn State has
- 13:27Speaker 6: to play another game.
- 13:28Speaker 7: Okay.
- 13:29Speaker 6: I would rather play SMU and then Boise State than
- 13:33Speaker 6: have to play the winner of Tennessee, Ohio State like Oregon,
- 13:36Speaker 6: got punished for being the number one seed, and you
- 13:38Speaker 6: can't have that. So have your automatic qualifiers, have your
- 13:43Speaker 6: automatic bids for five conference champs.
- 13:45Speaker 7: That's fine, but if.
- 13:46Speaker 6: They are not in the top four seeds, don't give
- 13:49Speaker 6: them buys. Give the teams ranked one through four of
- 13:53Speaker 6: the buys, and then everybody else populates from there.
- 13:57Speaker 7: You think the lad after not next year.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But as you were talking about the two year second,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you know the last two years is the initial deal.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Do you think they'll add two more teams, four more
- 14:07Speaker 1: teams into this?
- 14:10Speaker 6: The push has been for two from the Big ten
- 14:13Speaker 6: and I understand why the Big ten in the SEC
- 14:15Speaker 6: would like their championship games to be very meaningful. And
- 14:18Speaker 6: the thought this year is, oh, you know, all four
- 14:21Speaker 6: of the teams in those championship games are in the
- 14:24Speaker 6: playoff anyway, so what's the point of this.
- 14:26Speaker 7: Like the ACC championship game.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Which weirdly both teams got in, but it didn't feel
- 14:31Speaker 6: like that at the time, the Big twelve championship game
- 14:34Speaker 6: was definitely a win. And in scenario like this, this
- 14:38Speaker 6: format raises the stakes of those games, but it lowers
- 14:42Speaker 6: the stakes of the Big Ten Championship in the SEC Championship.
- 14:45Speaker 6: But if you only had two buys because you had
- 14:47Speaker 6: fourteen teams, chances are those two buys are going to
- 14:50Speaker 6: your Big ten champ and your SEC champ, which suddenly
- 14:54Speaker 6: makes those games more valuable.
- 14:55Speaker 7: And this is all about money.
- 14:58Speaker 6: They don't really need to play those anymore, but they
- 15:01Speaker 6: make a ton of money off of them. The conferences
- 15:03Speaker 6: don't want to let them go yet, so I think
- 15:05Speaker 6: that that is their solution to create bigger stakes for
- 15:11Speaker 6: those games.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I respect your opinion a lot, and so I'm going
- 15:14Speaker 1: to ask you about one more rule change. And if
- 15:16Speaker 1: you were the guy changing the rule, you got to
- 15:19Speaker 1: if you were king, would you and when you become king,
- 15:22Speaker 1: would you change the Doctor Pepper halftime ball throwing thing
- 15:25Speaker 1: from chess passes or give them a basketball? Because so
- 15:27Speaker 1: it's the dumbest thing I saw.
- 15:30Speaker 6: I can't remember which championship game was, I want to
- 15:32Speaker 6: say it was the Big twelve championship game, so yes.
- 15:36Speaker 6: For those who don't know, the Doctor Pepper challenge is
- 15:42Speaker 6: basically two people trying to throw footballs into a giant
- 15:45Speaker 6: Doctor Pepper bottle for a scholarship and they do this
- 15:48Speaker 6: during the halftime of the championship games for the various conferences,
- 15:52Speaker 6: and it is the competition has devolved. It started out
- 15:55Speaker 6: with people throwing footballs like quarterbacks throw footballs, and now
- 15:58Speaker 6: they do chess passes. But here's the thing, Bobby, and
- 16:01Speaker 6: this is brilliant. There was a guy or no, actually
- 16:05Speaker 6: was a young lady. She was throwing option pitches, like
- 16:08Speaker 6: triple option pitches, like she played for a service academy,
- 16:12Speaker 6: and she was deadly accurate and she just destroyed like
- 16:16Speaker 6: she's going as a guy who was chess passing, and
- 16:18Speaker 6: she destroyed him. So I actually fell back in love
- 16:23Speaker 6: with it, because the option pitch is just as great
- 16:27Speaker 6: as throwing a football the right way.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I think the option pitch I'd be okay with that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: The chess pass is just maybe it's not maybe it
- 16:34Speaker 1: needs to be ten yards farther. And I don't want
- 16:36Speaker 1: it to be where somebody doesn't have a good arm
- 16:38Speaker 1: they can't play right. You don't want someone who can't
- 16:40Speaker 1: throw football right. But it's just when you have two
- 16:42Speaker 1: people throwing basketball chess pass if I'm like drills in
- 16:45Speaker 1: sixth grade, it doesn't look it's not that fun and
- 16:47Speaker 1: I used to look forward to that.
- 16:50Speaker 6: Well, I will say I went crazy when Josh Allen
- 16:53Speaker 6: threw a chess pass in an NFL game. Now I
- 16:55Speaker 6: got called back because of holding, but he threw a
- 16:58Speaker 6: chess pass for a touchdown.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not convinced. I'm not convinced he was
- 17:03Speaker 1: watching game tape on one of them. Hey, let's talk
- 17:06Speaker 1: about quin yours for a second and Arch manning and
- 17:08Speaker 1: not even so much about what's happening in the playoff.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But now it's as Quinn you were is gonna go?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Is it going to take whatever money from some mythical
- 17:15Speaker 1: Big ten school that's going to offer him four million
- 17:17Speaker 1: dollars to stay? What do you think is happening here?
- 17:21Speaker 6: Well, it's it's interesting because this is one of these
- 17:24Speaker 6: weird things that happens in the NIL era. Now that
- 17:27Speaker 6: was never an issue before, because before Quinn youwers would
- 17:30Speaker 6: just be head of the NFL. It'd be well, I'm
- 17:33Speaker 6: probably not gonna stay at Texas because we kind of
- 17:36Speaker 6: had this deal that it's Arch's time next year, So
- 17:39Speaker 6: I'm going to the NFL and I'll be making more
- 17:41Speaker 6: money than i'd make in college. But if Quinn Ewers
- 17:44Speaker 6: isn't a first round pick, and he isn't a second
- 17:46Speaker 6: round pick. And once you get into the third, fourth rounds,
- 17:51Speaker 6: the money Quinn Youewers could command at a big time
- 17:55Speaker 6: school might be bigger than what he'd make as a
- 18:00Speaker 6: third rounder. So if you're him, it's actually worth considering,
- 18:05Speaker 6: Like you have to really consider, like where where's my
- 18:08Speaker 6: draft stock? Could I potentially raise it with another year
- 18:11Speaker 6: in college? And if that's the case, can I make
- 18:15Speaker 6: the same or more money in college? Because if I can,
- 18:17Speaker 6: I'm gonna stay. I mean, you're looking at bow Knicks
- 18:19Speaker 6: now in the NFL. If bo Nix didn't have those
- 18:22Speaker 6: those two years at Oregon, he's not what he is
- 18:24Speaker 6: in the NFL right now. He is that because he
- 18:27Speaker 6: had sixty starts under his belt going in. So if
- 18:31Speaker 6: I'm Quinn, I actually do consider that heavily. It's I
- 18:35Speaker 6: want to know from the NFL people, honestly, what do
- 18:39Speaker 6: you think I am? Where do you think I fall?
- 18:41Speaker 6: Because if they think he's a late first round early
- 18:43Speaker 6: second round pick, just go to the league. Just go
- 18:45Speaker 6: to the league and you're gonna play and you're gonna
- 18:48Speaker 6: get paid more. But if they don't think that or
- 18:51Speaker 6: they're not sure, then yeah, get another year of college,
- 18:56Speaker 6: make a bunch of money. Do some more Doctor Pepper commercials.
- 18:58Speaker 6: Do some fans billed by the doctor Pepper.
- 19:02Speaker 7: Good Ward.
- 19:02Speaker 6: We've talked about them a lot, but yeah, do some
- 19:04Speaker 6: more of that. And it's it's weird that that's how
- 19:09Speaker 6: it works now. But he actually be more valuable as
- 19:13Speaker 6: a one year rental to a team in college than
- 19:16Speaker 6: he would be to an NFL team that takes him
- 19:18Speaker 6: in the third.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Round in the NBA.
- 19:20Speaker 1: In college basketball, obviously, these players are trying to get
- 19:22Speaker 1: to their second contract, right, big deal. You want to
- 19:24Speaker 1: get in, get in early, and it's all about that
- 19:27Speaker 1: second deal. Where the live span at times of an
- 19:30Speaker 1: NFL player not as long as that of an NBA player,
- 19:35Speaker 1: depending on especially what position you play. Would that factor
- 19:38Speaker 1: in it all to somebody who's like a second or
- 19:40Speaker 1: third round, Yeah, you might make less money, but you
- 19:41Speaker 1: want to try to get to that second deal. It's
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, it's a four year and an option whenever
- 19:44Speaker 1: you go to the NFL. Is that even being talked.
- 19:47Speaker 6: About if you're a running back, yeah, I mean that's
- 19:50Speaker 6: the running backs don't want to stay in school. If
- 19:52Speaker 6: you have any chance of being pretty good in the NFL,
- 19:55Speaker 6: you don't want the tread taken off your tires.
- 19:57Speaker 7: You want to get to that second contract.
- 20:00Speaker 6: Other positions where you're getting hit a lot and the
- 20:03Speaker 6: injury risk is exceptionally high, you know, inside linebacker type positions,
- 20:08Speaker 6: Those are other ones that you want to probably get
- 20:11Speaker 6: to the NFL. Start the clock on that second contract.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Quarterbacks have a little bit longer life span. Typically, offensive
- 20:18Speaker 6: linemen have a little bit longer lifespan. Edge rushers have
- 20:21Speaker 6: a little bit longer lifespan. So those guys do have
- 20:24Speaker 6: decisions that they need to make if they can raise
- 20:28Speaker 6: their draft stock while still making a really good amount
- 20:30Speaker 6: of money in college.
- 20:32Speaker 1: What about Dabo going to the portal first time?
- 20:34Speaker 6: Not a virgin anymore, It wasn't It was the first
- 20:38Speaker 6: non quarter see nobody ever remembers he took a quarterback.
- 20:42Speaker 6: I got of the portal three years ago. Three years ago,
- 20:46Speaker 6: maybe two. It was Hunter Johnson who had originally signed
- 20:49Speaker 6: with Clemson and then didn't win the starting job. He
- 20:52Speaker 6: was like a you know, blue chip, five star guy.
- 20:54Speaker 6: He goes to Northwestern decides, you know what I'm gonna do.
- 20:57Speaker 6: My last year back at Clemson, so that that was
- 20:59Speaker 6: the first transfer Dabo actually took. He did not take
- 21:03Speaker 6: a single one this past year, so Clemson and the
- 21:06Speaker 6: service academies who don't take transfers were the only ones
- 21:09Speaker 6: that didn't.
- 21:10Speaker 7: But yeah, he's in the portal now.
- 21:12Speaker 6: And the reason they're doing this is you have this
- 21:14Speaker 6: house versus the NCAA settlement that's coming where there's going
- 21:19Speaker 6: to be a revenue sharing plan where the schools are
- 21:20Speaker 6: allowed to pay the players directly. So a program like Clemson,
- 21:24Speaker 6: which doesn't have the biggest donor base, is going to
- 21:28Speaker 6: have money to pay players in a way that's competitive
- 21:33Speaker 6: with the Alabamas and the Georgia's and the Ohio States.
- 21:36Speaker 6: The problem for Clemson wasn't Dabba laid this out very
- 21:38Speaker 6: nicely last spring. I thought was the players who are
- 21:42Speaker 6: good enough to help Clemson, because remember Clemson still recruits
- 21:44Speaker 6: out of high school at a really, really high level.
- 21:46Speaker 6: So the players that were good enough to help Clemson
- 21:49Speaker 6: at the transfer portal, Clemson was priced out of the market.
- 21:53Speaker 6: Well now they're not. So they go get the receiver
- 21:57Speaker 6: from Southeast Missouri State. They go get an edge rusher
- 21:59Speaker 6: from per Do like they're going to be players in
- 22:02Speaker 6: this It's not going to be wholesale. It's not going
- 22:04Speaker 6: to be a bunch of guys. It's going to be
- 22:06Speaker 6: plugging in its spots where you have some holes in
- 22:08Speaker 6: the roster. And I tell you what, Bobby, I think
- 22:11Speaker 6: that puts Clemson right back where they want to be,
- 22:16Speaker 6: because that was the issue. They'd have these little that
- 22:19Speaker 6: you know, they'd have these kind of glaring holes in
- 22:21Speaker 6: the roster that everybody else was filling in the portal
- 22:23Speaker 6: and they weren't, and there was a reason for that.
- 22:27Speaker 7: But now they can fix that.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I guess my half opposing view of Dabo getting to
- 22:36Speaker 1: quarterback that he once had is he didn't get a
- 22:38Speaker 1: quarterback from the portal. He went back and got his
- 22:40Speaker 1: own guy because his own guy left in the portal,
- 22:41Speaker 1: and he went and rescued. He went and rescue his
- 22:43Speaker 1: own guy. Yes, yes, yes, yes. And so I hate Texas.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I hate Texas all my heart. Like I hate Texas.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I wish they could fall in the hole and not
- 22:50Speaker 1: exist anymore as a team. Listen, I see those pigs.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I see those pigs. Yes, when we have I hate Texas.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I hate everything about them, and I don't want them
- 22:58Speaker 1: to win. But man defensevely their defensive line there, it's
- 23:02Speaker 1: it's a monster. Uh. And we have Texas fans here
- 23:06Speaker 1: on this show, so I'm not going to say anything
- 23:08Speaker 1: positive about Texas. So would you say something positive about
- 23:11Speaker 1: Texas to just kind of help, you know, balance us out.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Yes, nastiest defense in the country. We spend so much
- 23:18Speaker 6: time talking about Quinn and Arch and it's really unfair
- 23:21Speaker 6: to a very very sound group of defenders that of
- 23:28Speaker 6: the let's say there, you know, there's there's twelve teams
- 23:31Speaker 6: in the college football playoffs, so twelve offenses and twelve defenses,
- 23:35Speaker 6: twenty four units. The Texas defense is the one I
- 23:38Speaker 6: trust the most out of those twenty four.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Okay, cool, that's it. We're good on that one.
- 23:42Speaker 5: Guys.
- 23:42Speaker 1: We're all Texas out. No more positive Texas and all right,
- 23:45Speaker 1: Mick to hate. Hey Mike Vic being a coach. First
- 23:48Speaker 1: of all, we saw the Sacramento State that that happens,
- 23:50Speaker 1: and it's like Mike Vic maybe, and then now it's not.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I didn't know Mike Vic coached what So what do
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know about this?
- 23:56Speaker 7: I didn't know either. I didn't know this was something
- 23:59Speaker 7: that was in his heart.
- 24:01Speaker 6: But you know, it's interesting because he's if you've heard
- 24:03Speaker 6: him talk after his his football career, after the dog
- 24:08Speaker 6: fighting stuff, after the imprisonment, you know, he's he sounds
- 24:13Speaker 6: like someone who has changed quite a bit, who has
- 24:15Speaker 6: grown up quite a bit. And so, you know, I
- 24:19Speaker 6: do wonder with people who've been through a lot in
- 24:21Speaker 6: their lives and who've done some things that they regret
- 24:23Speaker 6: and have admitted that they regret doing those things, like
- 24:29Speaker 6: there's probably something to teach to a younger generation. So
- 24:33Speaker 6: I don't know if that's gonna work. You know, we've
- 24:36Speaker 6: seen guys come out, you know, who were very good
- 24:39Speaker 6: players kind of go a little bit faster into the
- 24:44Speaker 6: coaching ranks, so like move move to a position that
- 24:46Speaker 6: they wouldn't have normally gotten without the name. I thought
- 24:48Speaker 6: Dion's done really well, that Eddie George has actually done
- 24:50Speaker 6: pretty well with it at Tennessee State too, So I
- 24:54Speaker 6: think there's something to be And Deon talks about this,
- 24:56Speaker 6: He's like, why should that guy have to grind it
- 24:59Speaker 6: out as a GA when he has so many more
- 25:02Speaker 6: things that he can teach that the guy grinding it
- 25:05Speaker 6: out as a GA can't.
- 25:06Speaker 7: So I think he's worth a shot.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Now.
- 25:09Speaker 6: Sacramento State wound up hiring Brittan Marion, who did grind
- 25:12Speaker 6: it out as a GA and and as an offensive
- 25:14Speaker 6: coordinator at the FCS.
- 25:15Speaker 7: Level and then the FBS level.
- 25:17Speaker 6: So we'll see, you know, those two programs, how how
- 25:22Speaker 6: they how they differ going forward. But I just I
- 25:26Speaker 6: think it's interesting that the victing. I didn't realize that
- 25:29Speaker 6: that that was something he wanted. But I am curious
- 25:32Speaker 6: to see what he what he is as a coach.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And I guess aside from his troubles and what he's
- 25:37Speaker 1: done and hopefully learned and reformed it can teach and
- 25:39Speaker 1: can turn it positive as a head coach. I just
- 25:42Speaker 1: think you'd probably want someone that has a bit of
- 25:45Speaker 1: not just the football, but how to put together coordinators,
- 25:50Speaker 1: how to how to organize. So to me, more than
- 25:53Speaker 1: if he's reformed as a person, it's and maybe it's
- 25:56Speaker 1: just because those schools want to splash and they'll surround
- 25:58Speaker 1: him with people that actually know how to do that.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I was surprised because Vic hasn't ever coached anywhere where.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I know Dion pretty well. I'm lucky we did a
- 26:06Speaker 1: TV pilot together. We're together for months every day love
- 26:09Speaker 1: Deon s Anders, like that's my guy. But Dion was
- 26:12Speaker 1: coaching his kids high school like he was a head
- 26:14Speaker 1: coach there right then he went to Jackson State then,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and so at least there was a bit of a
- 26:18Speaker 1: progression there where Mike Vick was just like they're Mike
- 26:22Speaker 1: Vick and now he's a head coach. But they're gonna
- 26:24Speaker 1: have to surround with people that know how to do
- 26:26Speaker 1: all these structure things, right.
- 26:28Speaker 6: He's gonna have he's gonna have to do that. I mean,
- 26:30Speaker 6: he's gonna have to to be able to do that,
- 26:32Speaker 6: and I think that that is a skill that maybe
- 26:36Speaker 6: can't be taught, and so he'll either be good at
- 26:39Speaker 6: it or he won't cause you know, you mentioned Dion
- 26:43Speaker 6: had worked in coaching his sons before. But like when
- 26:47Speaker 6: he takes the Jackson State job, that's a completely different
- 26:49Speaker 6: animal than what he'd been doing. And he did a
- 26:52Speaker 6: great job surrounding himself with the right people. I don't
- 26:55Speaker 6: think he hired very well the first year at Colorado.
- 27:00Speaker 6: That you know, you look at the second year at
- 27:01Speaker 6: Colorado and the staff he put together. That staff worked
- 27:05Speaker 6: much better together and made that team better as the
- 27:07Speaker 6: season went on. So I think with Mike Vick, we
- 27:11Speaker 6: don't know what he's gonna be as a CEO, and
- 27:14Speaker 6: sometimes you don't know until you see it. We've seen
- 27:16Speaker 6: it at various levels of sports where somebody gets in
- 27:20Speaker 6: as a CEO and they just aren't very good at it.
- 27:23Speaker 6: They're a better assistant coach, they are a head coach.
- 27:25Speaker 6: And then you see guys like ed Orgeron was a
- 27:27Speaker 6: position coach his whole career, is never even a coordinator.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Ervin Meyer was never coordinated before he's a head coach,
- 27:33Speaker 6: and these guys.
- 27:34Speaker 7: Are just natural CEOs.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I was reading your article, and by the way, you
- 27:39Speaker 1: can read Andy's work at on three on three dot com,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and I loved your idea. It's even kind of feels
- 27:46Speaker 1: like the basketball All Star Game now where they were
- 27:48Speaker 1: picking they picked their players and picked their teams. But
- 27:49Speaker 1: how you were talking about seed in the college football playoff?
- 27:52Speaker 1: Would you talk about that idea for a second. What
- 27:54Speaker 1: do you think that the way to do it will be?
- 27:56Speaker 6: That was sent in by a viewer to my show,
- 27:59Speaker 6: and I God bless him. It's great because he understand
- 28:03Speaker 6: like he understands the what we're doing here. Because this
- 28:06Speaker 6: is entertainment. And so instead of just seating the teams
- 28:10Speaker 6: and saying this is who's playing who like, what they
- 28:13Speaker 6: should have done is they should have ranked the teams
- 28:15Speaker 6: and then you say, okay, here's the potential matchups, but
- 28:18Speaker 6: now we're gonna go live to Dan Lanning, the coach
- 28:20Speaker 6: of the number one Oregon Ducks, he has to pick
- 28:23Speaker 6: which first round matchup is going to feed into his game.
- 28:27Speaker 6: So essentially he has to insult these two teams by saying,
- 28:31Speaker 6: you're the two we think are the easiest to be
- 28:33Speaker 6: I would love like televise it.
- 28:35Speaker 7: You give him like five minutes to pick.
- 28:37Speaker 6: You have the Jeopardy theme music playing, and then you're like, okay, Dan,
- 28:41Speaker 6: who are you gonna play?
- 28:43Speaker 7: It would be brilliant television.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And what I say, a lot as much as we
- 28:47Speaker 1: love sports, live with it, it is a TV show, right,
- 28:50Speaker 1: It's entertainment, and you gotta find that balance between integrity
- 28:53Speaker 1: and honesty and the love of the game and entertainment
- 28:56Speaker 1: because if you have a whole bunch of one and
- 28:57Speaker 1: not the other, then there's no trust on product. But yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 1: that would be like the greatest you know. Another thing
- 29:02Speaker 1: would be like when a player you know, signs with
- 29:05Speaker 1: the new team, like DeAndre Hopkins, Like they don't even
- 29:08Speaker 1: say he's a chief until it's game time and it's like,
- 29:11Speaker 1: all right, let's announce the new players this week on
- 29:13Speaker 1: the team and here deandreh my god, that's DeAndre exact yes,
- 29:18Speaker 1: Like you know that would be the product we love. Hey,
- 29:20Speaker 1: talk about your podcast for a second, because you guys
- 29:23Speaker 1: go live, which means where we do ours and we
- 29:26Speaker 1: loaded a couple hours later we get to edit.
- 29:29Speaker 7: You do yours live.
- 29:30Speaker 1: There's a been a risk in that I don't know
- 29:31Speaker 1: you and it's Andy and Ari on three podcasts. Yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 1: but you guys are on are you guy? On four
- 29:35Speaker 1: days a week?
- 29:36Speaker 6: We're actually on five days a week because we do
- 29:38Speaker 6: a postgame show during the season, and then once the
- 29:40Speaker 6: season ends, will go we'll be Monday through Friday in
- 29:43Speaker 6: the mornings with a more regular schedule. But we we
- 29:47Speaker 6: go Monday through Thursday in the mornings right now, nine
- 29:48Speaker 6: thirty am Eastern time. And yeah, me and Ari Wasserman.
- 29:52Speaker 6: I find when Ari is taped, he's not as interesting,
- 29:55Speaker 6: Like I don't want to edit out when Ari's really cooking.
- 30:01Speaker 7: That's that's the thing.
- 30:02Speaker 6: So we had Mike Goullett Junior on, you know, former
- 30:04Speaker 6: Notre Dame offensive lineman who owns his own excellent podcast,
- 30:07Speaker 6: and Mike was talking about how he puked before every
- 30:11Speaker 6: game because it was just part of his process and
- 30:13Speaker 6: he gets his nerves out.
- 30:15Speaker 7: And then so the.
- 30:16Speaker 6: Interview ends and Ari goes, you know, I puked before
- 30:19Speaker 6: every show, and I'm like, Okay, I see what we're
- 30:21Speaker 6: doing a bit here, and then he starts talking about
- 30:26Speaker 6: how the post puke feeling is one of the greatest
- 30:30Speaker 6: feelings in life.
- 30:31Speaker 7: I'm like, Ari, I have an ad to read after this.
- 30:34Speaker 6: I know this advertiser does not want to juxtapose you
- 30:37Speaker 6: talking about how great it feels to puke with their
- 30:41Speaker 6: their product. So we're gonna We're gonna move on here.
- 30:44Speaker 6: But if we edit, then we don't get things like that.
- 30:48Speaker 6: We need moments like that. So I am all for
- 30:50Speaker 6: the live and you can interact with the commenters, which
- 30:53Speaker 6: I am guilty of getting sucked into that a little
- 30:56Speaker 6: too much, but no, it's it's a lot of fun.
- 30:58Speaker 7: And we go live after games too.
- 31:00Speaker 6: So after the college football playoff games at like the
- 31:04Speaker 6: last one of the night will go live.
- 31:06Speaker 7: So if you want to come. Heckle us, you want
- 31:07Speaker 7: to come, ask us questions?
- 31:10Speaker 6: Come on, because I love that the viewer has a
- 31:15Speaker 6: chance to interact with us, you know, because and I
- 31:18Speaker 6: find that the people who watch us regularly they're so creative.
- 31:22Speaker 6: We do a mailbag show every Thursday, and they they
- 31:25Speaker 6: send in all the questions that that idea for the
- 31:27Speaker 6: seating was a mailbag question. Like I love our audience
- 31:31Speaker 6: because they're so smart and they love college football and
- 31:34Speaker 6: so yeah, if you guys want to want to join
- 31:36Speaker 6: that group, they're the smartest, best looking audience. I have
- 31:39Speaker 6: a friend named Chris Childers who works for Serious XM.
- 31:42Speaker 6: He says that all of his doctors listen to our
- 31:44Speaker 6: show and like, but you don't have to be a doctor,
- 31:46Speaker 6: like any profession is welcome.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Check out to Andy and ari on three podcast and
- 31:51Speaker 1: read Andy on three dot com. Hey, big fan of
- 31:54Speaker 1: your work. Have been for a long time and at
- 31:56Speaker 1: even other institutions. I won't even mention here, but keep
- 31:59Speaker 1: up to good work and thank you for the time.
- 32:01Speaker 1: And now I have to go build a complete podcast
- 32:02Speaker 1: studio in the back of my car, So I got
- 32:04Speaker 1: I got stuff to do today. But Andy, have a
- 32:07Speaker 1: great weekend at what a fun weekend it is. And
- 32:08Speaker 1: hopefully I'll talk to you soon.
- 32:10Speaker 7: Thank you, Bobby.
- 32:11Speaker 6: I followed your career for a while and and you
- 32:14Speaker 6: know you're you're an inspiration to all of us who
- 32:16Speaker 6: are doing this stuff.
- 32:17Speaker 1: So thank you for having me on all right there
- 32:19Speaker 1: he is Andy Staples. Thanks Eddie, have a good day, buddy. Okay,
- 32:23Speaker 1: the Bengals, there's six and eight. They have a six
- 32:24Speaker 1: point five percent chance to make the playoffs. So the
- 32:27Speaker 1: remaining games of the Browns, the Broncos, the Steelers and
- 32:29Speaker 1: need some stuff to happen, but they still can make
- 32:34Speaker 1: the playoffs. The Cowboys, they need the Commanders to lose
- 32:37Speaker 1: every game.
- 32:38Speaker 5: What's the number?
- 32:39Speaker 1: Well, if do you not see I'm getting there.
- 32:42Speaker 7: I would have a led with that if that's what
- 32:43Speaker 7: I wanted first, Yeah, you're right.
- 32:45Speaker 1: If the Cowboys win all three games, one of them
- 32:48Speaker 1: is against the Commanders.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Though, correct, and the Eagles, Yeah, and then Bucks.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Which I think the Bucks and the Commanders are games
- 32:57Speaker 1: they could actually win. The Eagles will be tough. Yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: but okay, if the Cowboys went all three games, oh
- 33:05Speaker 1: my gosh, and the Commanders lose all three, but what
- 33:08Speaker 1: makes that a bit easier is you get to actually
- 33:10Speaker 1: play the Commander. So you beat the Commanders, you win
- 33:11Speaker 1: the other two, they lose the other two. I just
- 33:14Speaker 1: look at their schedule, if I remember, their schedule was
- 33:15Speaker 1: not easy. And then there's a couple of teams in
- 33:19Speaker 1: the middle of them.
- 33:21Speaker 7: Like the Seahawks.
- 33:22Speaker 5: They have to lose somewhere in there too.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Cardinals, I believe we're in the middle of that.
- 33:29Speaker 5: I mean it's a huge like shot in the dark.
- 33:33Speaker 1: At what's the schedule there?
- 33:34Speaker 11: If I have the Commanders, Yeah, they play the Eagles,
- 33:37Speaker 11: then the Falcons, and then the Cowboys to wrap up
- 33:39Speaker 11: the scene.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Okay, so they get lose to the Eagles, no doubt. Well,
- 33:41Speaker 1: Panics is starting this week, right. The Cowboys have zero
- 33:46Speaker 1: point two chance exactly.
- 33:50Speaker 7: Out though zero point they're out.
- 33:52Speaker 1: As long as you're still in it, you're in a baby.
- 33:54Speaker 5: There's no chance, which is good.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I mean really like if they made the playoffs, well
- 33:58Speaker 3: and they just they would just get destroyed round one.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Maybe not look at the Buck last year.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Yeah, because they won a game, didn't they.
- 34:06Speaker 8: Beat the Eagles?
- 34:06Speaker 7: Yeah? They lost the lines barely, right, Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 10: Almost beat the truck.
- 34:09Speaker 3: It's pretty crazy. Though, like we're not as Cowboys fans,
- 34:11Speaker 3: we are not used to this kind of season. We
- 34:14Speaker 3: at least go to the playoffs, right and now it's
- 34:17Speaker 3: like we're not.
- 34:18Speaker 1: We're not going right now, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Usually now you're actually disappointed, which is weird. It's already happened. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
- 34:27Speaker 1: So we also have to an admission here. And I
- 34:32Speaker 1: like to blame two people for this, and neither neither
- 34:34Speaker 1: of them are me.
- 34:35Speaker 10: Oh okay, I love.
- 34:37Speaker 1: To put something on somebody else. I'm definitely one of them,
- 34:39Speaker 1: read you or not one of them. And and it's
- 34:43Speaker 1: it's not Casey. So it is Eddie and Kevin, and
- 34:46Speaker 1: I blame Kevin. Wait wait, probably slightly less than Eddie,
- 34:50Speaker 1: really slightly, because Eddie took the credit for it.
- 34:53Speaker 7: Oh that's true.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Edie could at least a said and that wasn't true.
- 34:57Speaker 5: What are we talking about?
- 34:58Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:58Speaker 6: You know what?
- 34:58Speaker 8: Actually, when you say it like that, I agree.
- 35:00Speaker 5: So last week we had you two know what we're
- 35:02Speaker 5: talking about.
- 35:03Speaker 1: But last week we hit our party, our parlay, and
- 35:05Speaker 1: everybody kept hitting me, going, you'd hit you parlay, I
- 35:07Speaker 1: hit mine, Kevin his and you took credit for yours.
- 35:09Speaker 1: You didn't hit yours, We did not win, you lost.
- 35:11Speaker 5: And oh really, yeah I took the Packers, didn't that?
- 35:14Speaker 1: You took the Seahawks?
- 35:16Speaker 8: Yeah, Seahawks.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And when we came on, we're talking about everybody's like,
- 35:21Speaker 1: edit lost, what's he talking about?
- 35:23Speaker 8: That's hilarious?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Really, So I didn't know until I started getting DMS
- 35:26Speaker 1: and Kevin took blame for you. He goes, no, I
- 35:28Speaker 1: wrote that down wrong on the sheet, so okay, you
- 35:31Speaker 1: can have a little bit of it. But mostly Eddie
- 35:34Speaker 1: just was like, yep, I guess we got it. Hope
- 35:35Speaker 1: everybody won.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Dang, So I went Seahawks on that. What was I thinking? Man,
- 35:42Speaker 5: that's crazy.
- 35:43Speaker 1: We had a buddy who Steve, who's a massive Cowboys fan,
- 35:46Speaker 1: and he bet a seven eight parlay hit six and
- 35:47Speaker 1: lost on the Cowboys and Panthers because he bet the Panthers.
- 35:49Speaker 1: What idiot think about Steve a massive Cowboys fan. We're like,
- 35:53Speaker 1: why did you bet against your team? Just don't bet
- 35:54Speaker 1: the game at all? And he was like, well, all
- 35:56Speaker 1: the experts were saying, it's like, hey, I don't bet
- 35:58Speaker 1: against my team. Even I never bet against Arkansas because
- 36:02Speaker 1: I don't want to have a split route. I don't
- 36:05Speaker 1: I don't ever want for one part of me to
- 36:07Speaker 1: not want them to win.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Correct.
- 36:08Speaker 1: So if I think that that's the case, and I
- 36:11Speaker 1: would bet that, I'm not betting that. And that's what
- 36:13Speaker 1: that kept him from making a ton of money.
- 36:15Speaker 3: I have taken the Cowboys out of many, many, many
- 36:18Speaker 3: parlays because I will not bet against them.
- 36:20Speaker 5: That's just what you do.
- 36:21Speaker 8: Is well, there's already enough emotion in it.
- 36:23Speaker 7: You will take credit.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Though, Man, I really thought I picked the Packers.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Did you?
- 36:28Speaker 8: I haven't even thought about it from that perspective, But
- 36:31Speaker 8: you're right. He sat there taking it like.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Gorma says, wouldn't you though?
- 36:37Speaker 8: Two days I'm like, damn, I messed up. Man, I
- 36:39Speaker 8: messed up. I messed up. And then I'm like, well, actually,
- 36:41Speaker 8: I guess I could have been saved.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Oh this is hitting me up like Eddie's lying.
- 36:46Speaker 7: Eddie' lying. He didn't hit. He didn't hit.
- 36:47Speaker 5: I didn't lie. I just said like, cool, I didn't lie.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Okay, let's fix some games here. Uh twenty five whistles
- 36:57Speaker 1: parlay on DraftKings. The spread are so big, Yeah, they're
- 37:03Speaker 1: so big. I can't even go money line, because that's
- 37:05Speaker 1: so that would be so cheap. You looking at college, Well,
- 37:10Speaker 1: that's all I'm bad. I mean, this is it's a
- 37:11Speaker 1: comfortable playoff. Why not you have to that's like the
- 37:14Speaker 1: most exciting. I mean, like, yeah, I gotta do college. Okay,
- 37:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I don't even want I hear you,
- 37:21Speaker 1: but it's like, I'm not gonna do four. I don't
- 37:24Speaker 1: want to put on the app.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Oh is it going on the app this time?
- 37:27Speaker 1: If it no, but it's four four, it'll go up.
- 37:29Speaker 9: I don't want to go up because I don't like
- 37:31Speaker 9: I usually will pick a game and go, like I
- 37:33Speaker 9: feel confident and in those single games, I don't think
- 37:35Speaker 9: I missed yet, which means i'll miss this week probably well.
- 37:38Speaker 8: The Indiana Notre Dame games on Friday, the other three
- 37:41Speaker 8: on Saturday, so which will be to nights' recording this yes,
- 37:44Speaker 8: late Thursday, go ahead, it's all was gonna say. If
- 37:46Speaker 8: you do the three then three Saturday ones.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Maybe I think Notre Dame beats Indiana by more than seven.
- 37:54Speaker 1: It's Notre Dame minus seven, so I'm gonna go Notre
- 37:57Speaker 1: Dame minus seven.
- 37:59Speaker 7: I think in.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I hate Texas and Clemson so much I can't I
- 38:04Speaker 1: can't pick that game. I hate them both.
- 38:05Speaker 5: It's a tough one.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I hate Texas more, but like I hate Clemson only
- 38:10Speaker 1: because Dabo. I think Penn State beats SMU by more
- 38:15Speaker 1: than eight and a half. I'm going on two favorites
- 38:16Speaker 1: so far, and then I'll go Tennessee plus seven and
- 38:20Speaker 1: a half.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Like it.
- 38:23Speaker 1: So Notre Dame minus seven, Penn State minus eight and
- 38:25Speaker 1: a half, Tennessee plus seven and a half. That's that's
- 38:30Speaker 1: that's my parlay. I got to stay away from Clemson
- 38:32Speaker 1: Texas just because it's emotion pick and here's my emotion.
- 38:38Speaker 1: If you want to take the twenty five whistles parlay,
- 38:40Speaker 1: checkout Draftking sports Book. New users use to Codeobby Sports
- 38:42Speaker 1: when you download the app.

- 39:03Speaker 1: B ball. I gotta go to the freaking Jets making
- 39:13Speaker 1: personnel decisions because of Madden, which is hilarious. I play
- 39:16Speaker 1: Madden and in case he's a big Jets fan, and
- 39:18Speaker 1: so story I read on the with The Atlantic is that,
- 39:23Speaker 1: first of all, the grandson of Woody Johnson has been
- 39:28Speaker 1: making a lot of the personnel decisions apparently, which is hilarious.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I think he's seventeen.
- 39:33Speaker 8: Serious, Yeah, is he really that young?
- 39:35Speaker 1: I think he's seven. I think he's seventeen.
- 39:37Speaker 8: Oh my goodness.
- 39:38Speaker 1: You may look he's a teenager.
- 39:39Speaker 10: He wasn't true. Yeah, I know he's young.
- 39:41Speaker 1: And so I'll read just some of this from the
- 39:43Speaker 1: Excuse Me the Athletic. The piece of story focused Onody Johnson,
- 39:48Speaker 1: who's been hands on, but what he says I did
- 39:51Speaker 1: not expect to learn that his son's Brick and Jack,
- 39:55Speaker 1: whose love for the Madden franchise seems to influence the
- 39:58Speaker 1: owner of the team. The Jets or NIXT to trade
- 40:00Speaker 1: for Jerry Judy last off season because his EA Sports
- 40:03Speaker 1: rating was too low. Hold on Earth, See this is
- 40:07Speaker 1: how i'd be a coach. Yeah, now, I'm just saying
- 40:10Speaker 1: what you know as a coach, it's only a TV show.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It's not only their video game ratings that have factored
- 40:16Speaker 1: into their personnel decisions. Aaron Rodgers was urging patients when
- 40:22Speaker 1: the owner wanted to make a hasty move this season,
- 40:23Speaker 1: like firing Rogers solid. I don't know if that's Sue
- 40:25Speaker 1: or not, but whatever, we're gonna believe one. We should
- 40:27Speaker 1: consider all of them here. Yeah, the seventeen year old
- 40:29Speaker 1: what's his name?
- 40:30Speaker 10: That break looks like Brick.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been heavily involved.
- 40:35Speaker 7: Would be cool for.
- 40:38Speaker 8: Him, he imagine going to school.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Hey, what do you guys want to do? What do
- 40:42Speaker 5: you want to do on Sunday?
- 40:43Speaker 1: See if Madden will accept this trade? And if it doesn't,
- 40:48Speaker 1: Like that's how they're like seeing it.
- 40:49Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's your team. What do you want to say? Uh?
- 40:54Speaker 11: It just the Jets just never failed to surprise, you
- 40:56Speaker 11: know what I mean. That's that's what I've been dealing with.
- 40:59Speaker 11: My my whole adult life with this team hilarious.
- 41:02Speaker 8: So I always have you watched the Aaron Rodgers I have.
- 41:05Speaker 10: I said I saw the trailer, but yeah, I haven't
- 41:07Speaker 10: checked it out.
- 41:08Speaker 8: Watch it.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I can't.
- 41:09Speaker 7: I can't.
- 41:10Speaker 5: You can watch it.
- 41:12Speaker 1: He's so cringey everything about it.
- 41:14Speaker 10: You should have saw the trailer. Then he's in like
- 41:16Speaker 10: Peru with like a tank top.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Oh I saw someone TikTok where he was like high
- 41:20Speaker 1: on something.
- 41:22Speaker 11: Like talking about the whole drama with his family and
- 41:25Speaker 11: the all things.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:27Speaker 1: So so he's involved in it.
- 41:29Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it's all on him.
- 41:32Speaker 1: No, but there's a difference if it's on him and
- 41:34Speaker 1: he's involved in it.
- 41:36Speaker 8: Oh, okay, gotcha.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I wonder if he had final cut, which
- 41:38Speaker 1: means he had decisions about what it wouldn't go in
- 41:40Speaker 1: he had to have, does it make him more likable?
- 41:45Speaker 10: I mean it's I don't know it. It's indifferent to me.
- 41:48Speaker 11: It's just because it's all the same stuff that we
- 41:49Speaker 11: already kind of know about his family and stuff like that.
- 41:52Speaker 11: So I didn't really take that much out of it.
- 41:54Speaker 11: Then again, it was just a trailer, so I gotta
- 41:56Speaker 11: have it.
- 41:57Speaker 6: No.
- 41:57Speaker 1: No, four months ago, I was rooting Aaron Rodgers. So
- 42:00Speaker 1: it's not like I've been. I was like, let's go.
- 42:03Speaker 1: He's cringe. Everything about is cringe.
- 42:05Speaker 6: Now.
- 42:06Speaker 8: The timing of this release is just not good either.
- 42:08Speaker 11: But even like that, the stuff on magazine thought that
- 42:11Speaker 11: this was going to be something this season.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Yeah, true, and he thought the Jets would be better.
- 42:16Speaker 10: Yeah, better than four wins for sure.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yeah, even like the stuff on McAfee. That's happening now where.
- 42:21Speaker 1: But he's also with Ryan Clark and they're like feuding. Yeah,
- 42:26Speaker 1: and Rogers was like, you know, before whatever, all I
- 42:30Speaker 1: want to know before you get into any more feud.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So I know, have you been vaccinated? And it's like
- 42:36Speaker 1: we're still doing vaccine jokes.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a long time ago.
- 42:41Speaker 1: That was literally like two days ago. He was doing
- 42:43Speaker 1: this on MACA. He's like, and if you are, then
- 42:44Speaker 1: you're freaking more on it. Trust nothing, you say, that's
- 42:49Speaker 1: my quarterback, baby, like go to the go to a
- 42:52Speaker 1: different well. But yeah, he he is a douchebag. Yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: come a long way, complete flip. If I were like
- 43:02Speaker 1: a member of Congress, you'd be like, he's a flip flobbery.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I was very pro Aaron Rodgers and now he's just
- 43:08Speaker 1: the worst. The Charlotte Hornet, Oh, you'll talk about this,
- 43:12Speaker 1: the PS.
- 43:12Speaker 5: Five I do whacked, man, Like, I can't believe they
- 43:15Speaker 5: did that.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Do you guys know the story yet?
- 43:16Speaker 5: No?
- 43:17Speaker 7: God.
- 43:17Speaker 3: So there's a halftime little little presentation where Santa comes
- 43:21Speaker 3: up and the Charlotte Hornets like, give a kid a
- 43:23Speaker 3: PS five.
- 43:24Speaker 5: He wins it. Oh my gosh. Everyone's like, that's so cool.
- 43:27Speaker 3: And then they walk off and the cameras turn away
- 43:31Speaker 3: and they take the PS five back and they give
- 43:32Speaker 3: him a jersey. And so people are that were there
- 43:35Speaker 3: or saying like no, I saw it happen, and even
- 43:38Speaker 3: the kid's uncle is like, no, that's exactly what happened.
- 43:40Speaker 5: They took the PS five back, we just got a jersey.
- 43:43Speaker 3: So then the Charlotte Hornet Charlotte Hornets are like, look,
- 43:46Speaker 3: I'm sorry, we apologize.
- 43:47Speaker 5: We made it right though.
- 43:48Speaker 3: We gave him a real PS five and now he
- 43:50Speaker 3: has like, you know, season tickets or whatever.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we'd pr yeah, move what they take.
- 43:55Speaker 9: A PS five from the locker room or something.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I don't yeah, don't know, but yeah they got everybody
- 44:01Speaker 1: else had their kids back, though.
- 44:02Speaker 5: There was no explanation of why they even did that.
- 44:05Speaker 3: It's almost like what movie was that with Will Ferrell
- 44:08Speaker 3: where the semimi like a million dollars for a half
- 44:13Speaker 3: court so everyone shows up, we don't have a million dollars, like,
- 44:16Speaker 3: I'll never make it.
- 44:19Speaker 5: It makes it? Do you guys?
- 44:21Speaker 1: Do the Bulls version of that where the guy made
- 44:24Speaker 1: the shot. It was over half with maybe three quarter
- 44:26Speaker 1: shot and he signed up and he hits it and
- 44:29Speaker 1: he wins. I think it's a million dollars.
- 44:31Speaker 5: Maybe I'm mixing the two.
- 44:32Speaker 1: But in the fine print it said you could have
- 44:34Speaker 1: never had some sort of like professional and he played
- 44:36Speaker 1: like some weird for like a year and they never
- 44:39Speaker 1: gave him the money.
- 44:40Speaker 7: That's so stupid, and so.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Like people like Jordan got involved. It's pretty interesting.
- 44:47Speaker 5: There may be a thirty might have been in the
- 44:49Speaker 5: last Dance.
- 44:51Speaker 1: No, I think I watched whatever. Whatever I watched defended
- 44:57Speaker 1: the clips on TikTok for the whole series. But yeah,
- 44:59Speaker 1: I know he it's the shot. The whole team's going crazy,
- 45:01Speaker 1: George's jumping on. I'm like, yeah, he thought he just
- 45:03Speaker 1: won whatever it was, thousand million bucks and they never
- 45:06Speaker 1: gave it to him or at least they didn't then
- 45:08Speaker 1: now name road ended, Yeah I don't remember. Okay, let's
- 45:12Speaker 1: go to our talk with former NFL linebacker Jalen Smith.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Jalen was a consensusul American Notre Dame projected top three
- 45:19Speaker 1: draft pick. He blew out his knee in a bowl
- 45:21Speaker 1: game against Ohio State. Drafted by the Cowboys in the
- 45:23Speaker 1: second round twenty sixteen. Awesome career, you can still tell
- 45:28Speaker 1: by this interview, especially he still loves Notre Dame already
- 45:31Speaker 1: thinks they're going to be Indiana moving on to the
- 45:32Speaker 1: next which is pretty funny. And then I called him
- 45:34Speaker 1: on He's like, no, that's not what I meant. So yeah,
- 45:37Speaker 1: pretty cool here he is, Jalen Smith. Super cool to
- 45:40Speaker 1: have Jalen Smith on. Hey Jayleen, just a warning, one
- 45:44Speaker 1: of my guys here is a massive, die hard, lifelong
- 45:47Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys fan. So if he hits you with like
- 45:49Speaker 1: a whole lot of Cowboys questions, like I just say,
- 45:53Speaker 1: because I'm gonna ask you like some Notre Dame college
- 45:55Speaker 1: football playoff, But he's such a Cowboys fan. I'd just
- 45:57Speaker 1: like to preface that with going, sorry.
- 46:02Speaker 12: Hey you if you if you're diehard Cowboys fan, it's
- 46:06Speaker 12: it gets real all year round.
- 46:08Speaker 10: Yeah, I got it.
- 46:09Speaker 7: Let's just start with that.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Okay, so this is my friend Eddie. Eddie lead us
- 46:13Speaker 1: off with the goo Dallas Cowboys question.
- 46:14Speaker 5: All right, come on, what's out, Jalen, what's going on?
- 46:17Speaker 5: Brother dude?
- 46:18Speaker 3: My first question is like, I mean, obviously I love
- 46:21Speaker 3: the Cowboys. My whole family loves the Cowboys. But what
- 46:24Speaker 3: does the rest of the country think about us when
- 46:27Speaker 3: you go play other places as a Dallas Cowboy?
- 46:30Speaker 10: Do they just hate us?
- 46:31Speaker 5: Or do they love us?
- 46:34Speaker 12: I will say that if you're a Dallas Cowboy, it's
- 46:39Speaker 12: like there's no in between. It's either you love, absolutely
- 46:44Speaker 12: love the Dallas Cowboys or you hate everything about what
- 46:49Speaker 12: Jerry Jones has going on and being a Cowboys for life.
- 46:55Speaker 12: I understand the magnitude or the significant when we talk
- 47:01Speaker 12: about America's team. The whole America's Team thing is very real,
- 47:05Speaker 12: it's very true, and it's not going to change.
- 47:09Speaker 1: So how do you feel in an adult man says
- 47:12Speaker 1: we but like, Eddie's not on the team, but you
- 47:14Speaker 1: actually played for them for years, Like, yeah, how do
- 47:16Speaker 1: you feel like that?
- 47:17Speaker 12: I don't mind it, because, like I said, I understand
- 47:20Speaker 12: the importance of what the Dallas Cowboys has done for
- 47:26Speaker 12: the sport. It's a global entity and there's nothing short
- 47:33Speaker 12: of it. It's the reason why I still live in
- 47:36Speaker 12: Dallas to this day.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I want to talk about when you were drafted, because
- 47:40Speaker 1: I mean, you were on the CUSP, but I think
- 47:41Speaker 1: you were drafted thirty fourth overall, which was like one
- 47:43Speaker 1: of the first couple picks in the second day. Going
- 47:47Speaker 1: into the draft, were you feeling where did you feel
- 47:51Speaker 1: you could go at? From what pick to what pick?
- 47:53Speaker 1: Were they telling you? And then when it was the
- 47:54Speaker 1: Cowboys at that thirty fourth pick, like, how did that feel?
- 47:58Speaker 4: So prior to my jury, I was going to be
- 48:01Speaker 4: a top three pick.
- 48:03Speaker 12: So having that injury in the bowl game, the Fiesta Bowl,
- 48:07Speaker 12: kind of shifted the narrative for really for all of
- 48:10Speaker 12: college sports, like created the Jalen Smith rule of people
- 48:15Speaker 12: being allowed to send out of bowl games because of
- 48:20Speaker 12: risk of injury. If you look at my draft stock
- 48:23Speaker 12: and where I was going, what I accomplished in college,
- 48:26Speaker 12: and you know what I was prepping to do at
- 48:28Speaker 12: the next level. So prior to the NFL Draft, you know,
- 48:34Speaker 12: like the first rounders get the invite to go to
- 48:37Speaker 12: wherever they're hosting the draft and all of these different things.
- 48:42Speaker 12: For US players that have been watching the draft for
- 48:45Speaker 12: a long time growing up, it's always a dream when
- 48:48Speaker 12: you know you're going to be a first round pick
- 48:50Speaker 12: to go to to draft night. I got some extreme detail,
- 49:00Speaker 12: an insight really from a legendary guy by the name
- 49:04Speaker 12: of Gil gil Brandt who told me that I wasn't
- 49:10Speaker 12: going to be drafted on Day one, so have an
- 49:15Speaker 12: opportunity to spend time at home really allowed me to
- 49:20Speaker 12: manage my emotions, manage my ego, and all of these
- 49:24Speaker 12: different things. Now, I wasn't expected. I wasn't expecting to
- 49:29Speaker 12: be the third pick in the second draft, in the
- 49:31Speaker 12: second round. So when I was like, as soon as
- 49:34Speaker 12: I got to my draft party, within ten minutes, my
- 49:39Speaker 12: number was called and it was a two on four
- 49:42Speaker 12: number Dallas, Texas. Mind you, at the time, my older brother,
- 49:47Speaker 12: Ron Smith was playing on the Dallas Cowboys. He just
- 49:50Speaker 12: finished his rookie year. Our father is a diehard Dallas
- 49:55Speaker 12: Cowboys fan. So when I seen that area code, it
- 49:59Speaker 12: was just blessing because I knew I was going to
- 50:01Speaker 12: get an opportunity to not only play with my brother
- 50:04Speaker 12: for the first time because he went to Ohio State
- 50:07Speaker 12: and I'm a Notre Dame guy, but being able to
- 50:11Speaker 12: play for our dad's favorite team is definitely a family
- 50:14Speaker 12: dream come true.
- 50:15Speaker 1: How cold is it put the uniform on, in the
- 50:17Speaker 1: helmet on for the very first time.
- 50:19Speaker 12: Nothing like it. Nothing like it because you understand the
- 50:24Speaker 12: value that comes with it. You understand going into it,
- 50:28Speaker 12: the degree of stardom or celebrity or you know, just
- 50:36Speaker 12: having an opportunity to wear that uniform.
- 50:39Speaker 4: It means a lot for sure.
- 50:40Speaker 1: So growing up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which I've been
- 50:42Speaker 1: to Fort Wayne a bunch of times. Live what a
- 50:45Speaker 1: couple hours in Fort Wayne now, like our radio shows
- 50:48Speaker 1: in Fort Wayne have toured through for I have been there.
- 50:50Speaker 1: It's cold, that's my point. Like it's a cold place.
- 50:52Speaker 1: It's like colder than where we live all the time.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Fort Wayne's cold. Now when you decide to go to
- 50:56Speaker 1: Notre Dame to meet obviously Notre Dame, one of the
- 50:59Speaker 1: blue bloods in football, it's also very cold. I have
- 51:02Speaker 1: a friend that played a Notre Dame Golden tate and
- 51:04Speaker 1: I asked him. I was like, man, that's a whole
- 51:06Speaker 1: different world. Like it's cold and I gotta imagine when
- 51:08Speaker 1: you get up there, some of these guys that come
- 51:10Speaker 1: from Texas, Florida and they come up to Notre Dame,
- 51:15Speaker 1: like it's like an introduction to new elements in the weather.
- 51:19Speaker 7: Right to play.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Football in absolutely because.
- 51:24Speaker 12: Father time is undefeated and you don't know, you know
- 51:30Speaker 12: what what our father is going to put us through
- 51:33Speaker 12: when it comes weatherwise, you can't control it. And it's
- 51:36Speaker 12: really that second semester after the season when you got
- 51:39Speaker 12: to go back on campus. There's no football being played.
- 51:42Speaker 12: There's no uh, there's no there's no training or practice.
- 51:47Speaker 12: That's and that that's happening. And you got to walk
- 51:50Speaker 12: through negative ten degree weather to get to your to
- 51:56Speaker 12: your arts class, to your Portuguese class, two years your
- 52:01Speaker 12: finance or trigonometry class. It's not a fun thing when
- 52:06Speaker 12: the windshield is in your face and your you feel
- 52:09Speaker 12: like your lips are frozen. But I will say, man,
- 52:14Speaker 12: we play some we play some great football at Notre Dame,
- 52:16Speaker 12: and it's it's a rich tradition. It's a global entity.
- 52:22Speaker 12: It's like the Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame, the New York Yankees,
- 52:26Speaker 12: like those institutes are in a whole different class so
- 52:33Speaker 12: it's a lot of appreciation for it, but there's a
- 52:36Speaker 12: lot of.
- 52:36Speaker 4: My teammates who come from down South and boy, they
- 52:40Speaker 4: hate it.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Well, if someone comes to you now and says he
- 52:45Speaker 1: they're a seventeen eight year old kid for a five
- 52:47Speaker 1: star recruit. Coach Framan's recruiting them, and they're like Jalen,
- 52:50Speaker 1: like like, what's the one reason let's take an al
- 52:53Speaker 1: out of it. Well, like, what's the one reason about
- 52:56Speaker 1: Notre Dame that that would make me want to go
- 52:58Speaker 1: and stay and be fighting Irish.
- 53:01Speaker 12: It's so it's so deeper than just getting the opportunity
- 53:05Speaker 12: to play the game that you love at the next level.
- 53:09Speaker 12: It's about the relationships that you create that last a
- 53:13Speaker 12: long time, lasts for the next forty years rather than
- 53:17Speaker 12: just four years. It's not just about a college education.
- 53:23Speaker 12: It's about the network that you're being aligned with. And
- 53:27Speaker 12: in any city, any state, any country that you live
- 53:31Speaker 12: or go into, someone knows about Notre Dame. I was
- 53:36Speaker 12: in South Africa a few years ago and walking down
- 53:39Speaker 12: the street and somebody had a Notre Dame hat on.
- 53:43Speaker 12: So that's the biggest that's the biggest thing, that's the
- 53:45Speaker 12: biggest benefit it's a real it's a real people's university.
- 53:50Speaker 12: And the alumni we take it, we don't take it lightly.
- 53:56Speaker 12: How we understand the importance of togetherness. That's what I
- 54:00Speaker 12: love about Notre Dame. I'm an hour and a half.
- 54:03Speaker 12: I'm born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, so an
- 54:05Speaker 12: hour and a half from Notre Dame. And I'm a
- 54:09Speaker 12: mama's boy. So I didn't want to go away from
- 54:12Speaker 12: home for college. You know, I wanted to be close by.
- 54:15Speaker 12: Like I said, my brother and my older brother played
- 54:17Speaker 12: at Ohio State, so I was able to take my
- 54:20Speaker 12: own path.
- 54:21Speaker 4: But she was a Notre Dame.
- 54:24Speaker 7: And I love it.
- 54:25Speaker 4: I can't wait to be there Friday.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's talk about that. Because I'm a big
- 54:29Speaker 1: coach Freeman guy. Just like i'd play for I suck.
- 54:32Speaker 1: I would never make the team, but I would like
- 54:34Speaker 1: whatever he wants. Like you didn't, no, I would say
- 54:38Speaker 1: right now, I'd be like, I'm in whatever you want
- 54:39Speaker 1: me to do, Coach. I'll be a wedgebuster right now
- 54:41Speaker 1: and I will die right now. And so what has
- 54:44Speaker 1: Coach Freeman done? Like, what's the for that culture at
- 54:47Speaker 1: Notre Dame.
- 54:48Speaker 12: I think he's he sparked the urgency for greatness, and
- 54:56Speaker 12: that's what us alumni we see, we feel. You know,
- 55:00Speaker 12: I've had a great opportunity to form a relationship with
- 55:05Speaker 12: the Witch coach Freeman, which goes a few years back now, Marcus.
- 55:12Speaker 12: He was actually a GA at Ohio State while my
- 55:15Speaker 12: brother was playing there, So as I was getting recruited,
- 55:19Speaker 12: getting a chance to meet him and understand his journey,
- 55:24Speaker 12: I got a great appreciation for Coach Freeman. Can't wait
- 55:28Speaker 12: to see these guys on Friday. We're going to get
- 55:30Speaker 12: the job done. It's the Battle of Indiana. And believe
- 55:34Speaker 12: we haven't played the Hoosiers since nineteen ninety one or
- 55:38Speaker 12: nineteen ninety five, something like that, so we're gonna I'm
- 55:42Speaker 12: looking forward to to putting it on them.
- 55:45Speaker 1: What do you think about Notre Dame being independent still?
- 55:48Speaker 1: You feel like there's a need for them to hop
- 55:49Speaker 1: in a conference or you all good at them scheduling everything?
- 55:52Speaker 12: No, never, And the reason why is because we're the
- 55:57Speaker 12: University of Notre Dame and you can't tell us that
- 56:01Speaker 12: we can't go play our arch rival team, which is
- 56:07Speaker 12: the University of Southern California. You can't tell us that
- 56:10Speaker 12: we can't play Stanford. The benefits of Notre Dame is
- 56:15Speaker 12: we play all across the country each year, and I
- 56:20Speaker 12: never want that to change. Bottom line is we got
- 56:24Speaker 12: we can only afford to lose one game a year.
- 56:28Speaker 12: We understand that, we know that, and we're looking forward
- 56:33Speaker 12: to to our first ever college football playoff home game.
- 56:38Speaker 12: So South Bend is going to be rocking. I actually
- 56:43Speaker 12: I'm actually opening up a Japanese ramen cruisine called Genia
- 56:48Speaker 12: Ramen Bar right across the street from Notre Dame. So
- 56:51Speaker 12: it's opening up in quarter one of next year. So
- 56:54Speaker 12: we're looking forward to being a part of the Notre
- 56:58Speaker 12: Dame community and and giving back. And it's just great
- 57:04Speaker 12: for for the opportunity to be a part of the
- 57:07Speaker 12: Notre Dame fighting iverage.
- 57:09Speaker 1: I gotta feel you feel pretty good about the draw
- 57:12Speaker 1: just looking through, I feel like Notre Dame obviously you'd
- 57:15Speaker 1: love to have a buye, but you're not going to
- 57:16Speaker 1: get one because you didn't want a conference right, and
- 57:18Speaker 1: those rules should probably change. I think they, and I
- 57:22Speaker 1: think they will. Just giving them the conference winners is
- 57:24Speaker 1: not good because it's not the four best teams. But yeah,
- 57:26Speaker 1: you guys will never get that buy and I think
- 57:28Speaker 1: that is a bit unfortunate because if you guys are
- 57:30Speaker 1: the number one team in the country next year the
- 57:32Speaker 1: year after, you deserve to have that buy But how
- 57:34Speaker 1: do you feel about the draw and and your side
- 57:36Speaker 1: of the bracket there.
- 57:38Speaker 4: I think the buye is I think it's necessary.
- 57:42Speaker 12: I think Notre Dame should qualify for that buye only
- 57:47Speaker 12: if we go undefeated, because we're not in the conference.
- 57:52Speaker 4: But I like our chances, I really do. We we
- 57:57Speaker 4: got to take care of home base first, which which
- 58:01Speaker 4: is in.
- 58:02Speaker 12: Notre Dame, Indiana, South ben Indiana versus the Indiana Hoosiers,
- 58:06Speaker 12: who they are.
- 58:08Speaker 4: They've had an amazing season.
- 58:11Speaker 12: Great appreciation myself being from the Hoosier State, great appreciation.
- 58:18Speaker 12: But Indiana, the Indiana University is about basketball. When you
- 58:25Speaker 12: talk about football in Indiana, there's one place that you
- 58:30Speaker 12: talk about, and that is the University of Notre Dame.
- 58:34Speaker 4: And we're playing in the house that Rockney built, Nuke Rockney.
- 58:39Speaker 12: If you don't know who I'm talking about, It's going
- 58:42Speaker 12: to be live, it's going to be electric.
- 58:45Speaker 4: I'm going to be there.
- 58:47Speaker 12: A lot of our stars and Notre Dame Lennards are
- 58:51Speaker 12: going to be there and we're gonna get the job done,
- 58:54Speaker 12: especially it's a night game as well.
- 58:57Speaker 4: But then I believe next what we will travel to
- 59:00Speaker 4: to Georgia? Is that correct?
- 59:02Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 59:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean if you're assuming, you're already gonna win,
- 59:04Speaker 1: and I can appreciate that.
- 59:06Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, no, no, we take no opponent lights. Okay,
- 59:10Speaker 4: speaking bracket, speaking bracket. We go to Georgia next next
- 59:14Speaker 4: week or whenever that game is.
- 59:16Speaker 6: Is that.
- 59:19Speaker 4: Can you answer that?
- 59:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be a bowl game, but in a dome, yes,
- 59:22Speaker 1: so no weather the dome. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I like,
- 59:26Speaker 1: I like I like that.
- 59:27Speaker 4: You know, we travel well as well, so yeah, for sure.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Can we go back to the Cowboys for a second.
- 59:33Speaker 3: You got three in a row and we got dayling here,
- 59:35Speaker 3: we got three day real quick? So, uh the light
- 59:38Speaker 3: you know the building, it's three o'clock and that light's
- 59:41Speaker 3: coming in. Everyone's like, oh man, they missed that pass
- 59:43Speaker 3: because of the light. How bad is that light coming
- 59:45Speaker 3: in through the windows?
- 59:46Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, sun So I played in Dallas for five
- 59:51Speaker 4: and a half years and the lighting is real. It's real.
- 59:56Speaker 4: It's real. The CD isn't lying U.
- 1:00:01Speaker 12: We know he should have he would have caught the ball,
- 1:00:03Speaker 12: should have caught the ball, all of these different things.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: The lighting is real. However, Jerry Jones is a.
- 1:00:11Speaker 12: Extremely successful businessman and he has non negotiables and that's
- 1:00:19Speaker 12: one of them.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Yeah, speaking of speaking of Jerry, you know, you hear
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: the players once they leave and say talk about how oh,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: it's such a circus. You know there's people everywhere to
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: watching our pregame warm ups.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: Is that accurate? Like everywhere you go there are just
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: people watching you.
- 1:00:36Speaker 12: That's accurate. I wouldn't call it a circus in a
- 1:00:41Speaker 12: negative way. I think it's for it's for certain people, sir.
- 1:00:47Speaker 12: A lot of people can't handle it. I don't know
- 1:00:51Speaker 12: if it was because I was drafted into it and
- 1:00:53Speaker 12: I appreciate it so much, or.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: If because I had a lot.
- 1:00:58Speaker 12: Of experience playing at a a program and an institute
- 1:01:02Speaker 12: like Notre Dame, which every week there's visibility, there's extreme visibility,
- 1:01:10Speaker 12: which is another reason why there's Notre Dame fans across
- 1:01:14Speaker 12: the globe.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Same thing for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:01:17Speaker 12: So being a part of the least two rich entities,
- 1:01:21Speaker 12: you know, I was able to understand and appreciate the
- 1:01:24Speaker 12: limelight and me being a competitor. I operate, I operate
- 1:01:31Speaker 12: so much better under pressure. So that's really my take
- 1:01:36Speaker 12: on the whole Dallas Cowboy being a circus thing.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Okay, last question, last question, So will you give us
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: a little bit of encouragement going into the future because
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: this has been a tough year for us? And my
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: take too, Jalen, is that, like you know, Dallas Cowboy fans,
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: we've complained about, oh, we choking the playoffs and we suck,
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: we suck, you.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Know, but in reality we haven't.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: This year, we're finally realizing what that means, like we
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: are not going to make the playoffs.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: It's a bad season.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: So can you give us a little bit of encouragement
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: going in the future, Like what do we need to
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: do to go win that Super Bowl?
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: I believe, man, I believe that.
- 1:02:24Speaker 12: It's all about one accounts, it's all about when it counts.
- 1:02:28Speaker 12: I think Cowboys, we have proven that we can have
- 1:02:32Speaker 12: success in the regular season, but for some reason it
- 1:02:38Speaker 12: hasn't been able to translate.
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: And I don't know if that's a personnel thing, if
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: that's a.
- 1:02:47Speaker 12: The way in which we attack the playoff games. I'm
- 1:02:53Speaker 12: not sure exactly what it's gonna take. I do know
- 1:02:56Speaker 12: that Cherry really does want to win. He really does.
- 1:03:02Speaker 12: He really does. I firmly believe that he wants to
- 1:03:07Speaker 12: win again. But yeah, sometimes you got a plateau. And
- 1:03:14Speaker 12: I know, losing dan Quinn that was that.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: That was tough. That was tough. And then I mean,
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: injury availability.
- 1:03:24Speaker 12: Matters tremendously, and you know, when you lose your starting quarterback,
- 1:03:32Speaker 12: it puts.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: The odds against you.
- 1:03:34Speaker 12: Even though I love Cooper Rush, we were in the
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: same draft class, that's my brother. But yeah, I think
- 1:03:42Speaker 12: that I think that the Cowboys fans deserve deserve it.
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: It's been a long time.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: So two questions left, like how are you feeling?
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: Like, what's up?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Let's go. You're getting back in.
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: Let's get it.
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: Yeah, let's go.
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: Jared needs to bring me back. Yeah, right, I can come.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: I can come and dominate with with the with the
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: hot shot talent, uh, the Mario oversha and I love it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: That's my little brother. I love his game.
- 1:04:11Speaker 12: I would I would love to come rock out with
- 1:04:13Speaker 12: him and we can go out the right way. I
- 1:04:17Speaker 12: can retire a Cowboy. H I'm I'm ready to go.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: You're healthy, like you're just waiting for a call from
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: from somebody to do something.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:27Speaker 12: Man, year nine, I'm healthy, I'm I'm ready. I'm staying ready,
- 1:04:33Speaker 12: in shape, and ready to go.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: God's timing, you know.
- 1:04:38Speaker 12: Outside of that, I'm the serial entrepreneur, athlete, entrepreneur, I'm
- 1:04:44Speaker 12: heavy in the business field.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: And then I'm I'm I'm being a girl dad right now.
- 1:04:48Speaker 12: Man, I got my I got six month old, my my,
- 1:04:51Speaker 12: my first time being a father. So you know, there's
- 1:04:55Speaker 12: always work to be done.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Tell me about Jalen Smith, emmy, I because I was
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: ready about it. You talking about being an entrepreneur.
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: I mean this is that?
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: What are you doing over there? Yes?
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Yes, so MEI is all about investing.
- 1:05:10Speaker 12: It's all about helping close the economic and educational gap
- 1:05:14Speaker 12: that exists in this world today. So I founded MAI
- 1:05:18Speaker 12: to help provide financial funding, mentorship, and also you know,
- 1:05:25Speaker 12: helping with entrepreneurs putting together strategic execution plans.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: So investing in black and brown and Latin X companies.
- 1:05:36Speaker 12: We've invested at one point four million dollars into thirteen
- 1:05:39Speaker 12: different companies over the past four years and opened up
- 1:05:44Speaker 12: marketplaces to be able to you know, invest in people
- 1:05:48Speaker 12: who have tremendous ideas for lack of resources. There's something
- 1:05:52Speaker 12: that's dear to my heart, my purpose beyond athletics to
- 1:05:55Speaker 12: help close the economic and educational gap.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Started my own.
- 1:06:01Speaker 12: Life insurance agency recently to help educate and protect families
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: as well. So there's a lot of different things that
- 1:06:10Speaker 12: I got going on. Like I said, I have a
- 1:06:13Speaker 12: huge purpose beyond athletics, but you know, I make sure
- 1:06:16Speaker 12: I'm up in the mornings getting my work in to
- 1:06:18Speaker 12: stay ready too.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: That's awesome. Jaylensmith dot com if you guys want to
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: check more about what he's talking about. And he's already
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: got his bags packed for that Georgia game, which is fun. Hey, Indiana,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: ain't nothing but a thing about night that's happening, and
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: we're moving on.
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: Jane.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: We really appreciate the time rooting for you. Obviously. Eddie,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: being a huge Cowboys fan, was super excited that you
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: were on. Thank you, Dale, and to hear all the
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: things you're doing outside of football, that's really encouraging and inspiring.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: So have a great weekend. Hope you guys get the
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: w and hopefully we'll talk to you soon.
- 1:06:45Speaker 12: Yes man, thank you all. I'm sure I'll be on
- 1:06:48Speaker 12: again soon, so I appreciate you guys. Man y'all be said, all.

- 1:07:54Speaker 1: A couple things before we jump out of here. Connor
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: McGregor says, you may fight Logan Paul in India. Okay,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: if you're Conor McGregor or anybody else that's a fighter,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: you want to fight Logan Pol anywhere because you will
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: make so much money, and Logan Pol make a bunch
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: of money. I think I'm just kind of getting over
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: the Logan Pol thing now, and Connor McGregor's already done that.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I'm going to box for a bunch of money as
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: a sideshow type thing.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: Floyd Mayweather, Yeah, so it was a disaster.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: This one doesn't really interest me that much. I would
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: be interested if it were Mike Vick you talking about earlier,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: like somebody like that, versus Logan Pole like that would
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: interest me. Logan Pol's not a box I mean fixed
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: on a boxer. People are like Logan Pol's not as
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: good as a boxer as you think, So why he
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: keeps fighting chumps? The one boxer he did fight he
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: lost my Logan or j Logan, But you're thinking Jake,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: But Logan fights too, doesn't get wrestles and stuff. But
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I want to fight either one of the polls?
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: What because because Jake is like real mma though.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: I'm talking about boxing. Let me see Connor McGregor announces
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: in a boxing exhibition. Yeah but Logan Paul, But does
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: it matter? Aren't it the same thing? Like now the
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: one of the really boxers and they both make a
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: much money to fight him.
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: I feel like like Logan is a little more legit.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Okay, then I don't know enough about who's legit of
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: the Paul.
- 1:09:09Speaker 7: Jake feels full of chumped to me, But Logan I
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: feels more legit.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: Logan was the one spraying all the perfume, not the match.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Jake spot the last one.
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: Yeah, Jake is tyson.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I need to be educated on this thing because I'm again,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I know the differences. And he's awesome, and he's good.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: He's awesome. He's a great wrestler. Yeah, yeah, he's like legitimate.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: It's not even like looks weird, Like he's somebody that's
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: trying that really isn't like back in the day, like
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Mike Tyson tried to wrestle, or any Karl Malone wrestled
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, they're athletes, but they're not real. No,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Logan Paulo is like a real wrestler.
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: Yeah, he's a big dude. He's good.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: But when you want to fight Jake or Logan and
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: make you ten million bucks in the end.
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I guess, yeah, why wouldn't you?
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: But for us, like I don't want to watch that.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I don't want to watch I'm saying Connor McGregor doesn't
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: interest me at all.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Really, if he came back and fight UFC, that wouldn't
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: be interesting. That would be interested in Yeah me, but
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: you're not in the boxing exhibitions. We've already seen the
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: boxing side show where he's like, I'm going to be
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: a boxer and then Midweather just slaps him around and wins.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: And then he like kicks. He's like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: I'm just used to kicking, Like and it's too.
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: Close to the Tyson Jake Pole fight.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: We're still we're still like thinking about that, Like I
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: think I might have thought of the same person.
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean that's fair boxing.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: You think they're the same person until you see him
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: side aside and they're like, oh no, you're not the same.
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: You're very good.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Most twins though, too, I'm like, they look exactly the
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: same they stand by, I'm like, oh, I can definitely
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: see that they're like exactly the same. But yes, yes,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: which one's older?
- 1:10:31Speaker 9: I think Loganah, Logan's older, but a little shorter, taller
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: and taller.
- 1:10:36Speaker 8: I think it's Taller's tall?
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Yeah, is Jake thicker? Yes, Jake looks okay, he's monsters
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: a big dude. Anyway, I don't care. I'd want to
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: see out the one in the fight somebody that I'm
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: interested in seeing that person fight like an athlete, like
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: an ex athlete from another sport. But that is like
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: awes It's like an awesome version of it. But like,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: who would be the greatest athlete right now? It's retired
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: or even still play?
- 1:11:02Speaker 7: No get killed?
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: Yeah no, no, you wouldn't that crazy.
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: Not as CARDI.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: It wouldn't be good to know. But like sha Shaq
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: and Gronk are going to box.
- 1:11:16Speaker 8: Oh yeah, they were talking about that as they said
- 1:11:19Speaker 8: they wanted.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I would be interested in.
- 1:11:22Speaker 9: That big old like the socket things, big gloves.
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: That Paul. I guess.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I know they're two different people, but I think they're
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: the same person.
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: Yeah, it took me a minute to realize. I was like, wait,
- 1:11:34Speaker 8: that's not.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: About Conor Record. That's the whole point of that story.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I give no craps about Connor.
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: I love him.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: NFL needs to chill out when it comes to flexing
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: these games so late. Because let's say you have a son,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: you're going to a game on Sunday. For example, Kevin
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: dad came down to the Titans game. You guys went Patriots. Yeah,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: that's on Sunday, but like a week before the like,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: we're flexing the game, moving that game to a Thursday.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: But Kevin's dad has plans to come down on Saturday
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: for the Sunday game from Massachusetts. H. Well, now you're screwed.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: You can't go to the game because they just moved
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: the whole night of the game. Yeah, and that is
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: becoming an issue with fans because they have tickets if
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: they're going to come from out of state, other city.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Job.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I didn't realize they've done that, so they.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Voted last year to change flex scheduling procedures, and they're
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: putting to effect this season. The tonight's matchup was supposed
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: to last night, I guess last night because it was
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: supposed to be Browns and Bengals, but they switched to
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Broncos and Chargers.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: WHOA, that's crazy.
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: And even the Patriots game next week I believe got
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: flexed from Sunday to Saturday. So like, there's a lot
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: of these going.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: On, and most of the flexing happens after they know
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: who's good and who's not. You see a lot of
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: flexing the first half of the season if they're still
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: feeling out right who sucks and who doesn't. But now
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: they know and they know what the implications are these
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: games and where the ratings are probably going to fall.
- 1:12:47Speaker 8: Yeah, but they used to do it like from Sunday
- 1:12:49Speaker 8: afternoon to Sunday night primetime, which is fine.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Yes, I know, probably yes, they in the same day.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: They would change, just change the time of the game. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: that's okay, but yeah, Thursday stuff.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: And then what about those posters that they hang at
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: bars man with the whole schedule that all changes too.
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: You actually, the change and.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: What about the great point?
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: Did not that whole schedule up there and now you
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: can change it on me.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Not factor into my thoughts. But that's a great point.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: That's so stupid. Yeah, uh, let's do CFP real quick.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Who has the best chance to upset Indiana Notre Dame? Say,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: if you think, uh, this is the game, you think
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: the upside is Notre Dame's favorite.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: I think that can happen.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Okay, we're not saying it will happen with that one.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: That can happen.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: You think Indiana can be Notre Dame?
- 1:13:34Speaker 7: Okay?
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: SMU at Penn State, well penstay, I know they lost,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: but they look really good against Oregon clembs into Texas.
- 1:13:44Speaker 10: Yeah this game me too. This game me too, little
- 1:13:48Speaker 10: damn bo magic.
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: Sorry, but the.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Tennessee I say too. That one that was legitimate too.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that one.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I'm surprised to spreads over a touchdown.
- 1:13:55Speaker 8: Me too.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: But I think I hate Clemson lesson that its centerment
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: for Clemson. The problem is Texas is SEC, and I
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: always root for the SEC. But Texas isn't the SEC.
- 1:14:07Speaker 8: Oh yeah, just no, how many years.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: I think they'll be officially SEC positive never worry first, God,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: I hate him and I don't like Clemson. I don't
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: want Clemson to win either, but I'm going Clemson if
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I have to pick one of those Saturday games. So
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: tomorrow Texas and Chiefs, that'd be good. Chiefs three and
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: a half point favorites. That's it. I guess it's because
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: they don't know if Mahome is gonna play or not,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: although he's been a full participant in practice.
- 1:14:38Speaker 8: But I think that the Texans opened what Texans opened
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: as favorites, and that as the week's gone on. Oh
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: so that just means to me that Mahomes is playing.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Uh yeah, the Texans just haven't been as hot.
- 1:14:51Speaker 8: Oh yeah, they don't look nearly as good as we thought.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Ravens in Baltimore against the Steelers, Ravens six and a
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: half point favorite. Surprise, it's almost a touchdown there.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: And they lost to him.
- 1:15:00Speaker 10: That's high.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, even though it is in Baltimore, I'm still surprised.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: In the Sunday games, Giants and Falcons. The interesting game,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: but think about that is Penick will be playing quarterback
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: for the first time. Lions at Bears. Do the Lions
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: even need eleven people in defense. Nah, I mean at
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: this point they don't have but they barely have eleven. Man,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: maybe they can play seven against eleven other Bears and
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: like even it out a little bit because they shouldn't.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: But the Lions have lost a lot.
- 1:15:25Speaker 10: Yeah, how bad for him.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: Browns at Bengals Bengals seven half point favorite. Bengals can't
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: stop anybody. But who's starting quarterback for the Browns?

- 1:15:39Speaker 10: I mean, what was that DTR guy? He did not
- 1:15:41Speaker 10: look that good, So I think I'd take my chances
- 1:15:43Speaker 10: with Jamis.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Titans at Colts. Colts are in half point favorite Indy.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: As long as Taylor just holes onto the ball.

- 1:16:19Speaker 1: All. I want commanders to lose it all because I
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: have five hundred bucks on bow next to win. Rookie
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: of the Year is like six thousand dollars and he's
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: not the favorite. I think he was like plus two
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: to fifty when I looked, he was second overall. I
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: just need the Commanders to fall off.
- 1:16:32Speaker 10: Ja.
- 1:16:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Cardinals five point favorite of the Panthers. Vikings three point

- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Bills are just on fire. Forty nine Ers at Dolphins.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Dolphins a one point favorite in Miami. But what does
