Shaun: We hadn't that's one of those songs we had no business listening to or singing or anything like that. Jen: Exactly. No business. No business. The best believe I was. Barry: No business, bro. Not even in high school. Should I have been listening to that stuff? Jen: It makes me want to throw elbows. Shaun: I'm okay. I was about to say I feel like I'm scared to ask you this, but what is that? Barry: Good thing we're recording virtually, Shaun. Shaun: Yes. Be in a mosh pit all of a sudden. Barry: We be getting some bows. of chicken and beer, bro, she Jen: that's what it makes me feel. There Barry: be throwing them bows. Shaun: she's got a picture of Lindsay Clancy on one side, and on the Jen: Mm-hmm. I haven't seen it. Barry: I've seen him. Shaun: other side, she's got a picture of Sydney Sweeney. And she's asking she's asking women, she's like, which one do you think has done more damage to Barry: I've seen these. Who's doing more harm? Yes. Jen: Lord. Woohoo. Shaun: women? Jen: Oof, that's tough. Shaun: I would say Hey everybody, welcome back to Bald Enough to Say It episode number eighteen. Jen: We're an adult. Shaun: We are officially an adult. We can yeah, why did I say ten? Like I don't this shows how well I know numbers. Actually I I'm pretty good with numbers. Barry: Go get those, get those Xs on our hands in the club. Jen: A Shaun: You can. 18 and up clubs. You can now get into those without having to have a fake ID, which no one ever does because who does anything like that? Come on. So wait. Barry: Not I. Me neither. Jen: I never had a fake ID. Shaun: Me neither. I like Jen: I wasn't cool enough, Barry: I'm being serious. I don't know if I believe you, Shaun, because I don't know if I believe you. Jen, I don't think you would. No. You could probably just go wherever you wanted. Jen: I guess. I'm being serious too. Right? Did you think we were lying? Shaun: Why do you feel the need to say I'm being serious? I've never had a fake ID. Like there's no reason for it. If you knew where I grew up, you would know there was no reason for me to ever have a fake ID. Never really cared. Jen: Okay, thank you. I was like That's true. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. So but we are back. Barry: Small towns. Shaun: Yes, super small towns. And the towns next to them, like even the ones that did have like clubs and stuff like that, I wasn't feeling that. I was I was at the age where I was trying to be a good boy still, which I am still a good boy, even at the age that I am now. I'm still very good. Questionable. Nothing. I am a good boy. Jen: Questionable You are. Barry: Clip that, you're a good boy, Shaun. You're a good boy. Shaun: Just a dude having fun with his dog. Which dudes, a couple of dudes having fun. A couple of dudes Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: being dudes. None of that cash patel stuff Jen: So funny. Shaun: though. I mean, for like four or five days Jen: and I knew y'all were gonna bring this up. Shaun: straight, not a single word. Barry: not a not even a like or a smile or not a whoa jen whoa jen giving yourself a lot more credit than we we experienced Jen: They're being so dramatic. I think it was a day, first of all. I think it was twenty four hours. I think it was twenty four hours. Shaun: Do we need to share the tax the text thread? Twenty-four hours, my foot. You're giving yourself about two days worth of credit. Jen: No way, Jose. Shaun: It was at it was at minimum two. I would venture to say three. Yeah. Barry: It was easily too. I would agree with Shaun That sounds accurate. Shaun: Easily two, I would venture to say three. Barry: Yeah. Jen: No. Barry: I think we sent you something Wednesday night and I don't think we heard anything until last night. Shaun: Yeah, keep scrolling. Keep scrolling to see when the last time you texted us was your sc that thumb is moving a lot. Jen: Look at my don't look at my phone. Barry: A lot. She did say that we text Jen: Okay. Barry: a lot, but we just say things to get you to respond and you never respond. Exactly. Jen: One they do. It's a lot. It's a lot. Shaun: my god. Sorry we annoyed you with our friendship, gosh. Jen: No, I need to be better about messaging back. It is a very big character flaw of mine and I don't have a problem saying that. I'll work on it. I'll get better. I promise. Barry: Becca's the same way, Jen. Shaun: Very proud of you. Barry: Becca's the same way. Jen: Sorry. I wanna blame things, but I can't because I feel like our conversation will come back to haunt me. No, I'm not saying it. I it that I got all this hair. I I Shaun: No, I'll go ahead and say it. Be be bol be bald enough to say it, Jen. Say it. Barry: be bald enough to say she ain't bald enough. Shaun: Say it. What were you Barry: So what's she saying? Shaun: gonna say? Jen: I was gonna say I think I wanna usually I wanna blame it on my ADHD, but Shaun: Mm. Jen: then our conversation that we may have coming up may come to bite me. Although I still have thoughts and things to say. Shaun: I it is what it is. Jen: But but truly, guys, I'm so sorry that I left you on read. I won't do it anymore. Maybe okay, I don't know if I won't do it anymore, but I will try very hard not Shaun: Okay. We forgive you, but we also recognize that that is a lie. Barry: I was gonna say don't make promises you won't keep. Just say I'm gonna work on it. That's all we would ask Jen: I w I will work on it. I will. Barry: for. Shaun: yes. Jen: But, anyways, my week was long. yeah, just a long week. We had an open house, which kind of flopped, and I'm trying not to be annoyed about it because of how much work we put into getting the house ready for said open house, and then no one, no one showed up. Yeah. We even had somebody reach out and ask for a showing, and we were like, well, it's an open house, like go, but sure, here, we'll approve the showing. didn't show up either. I was like, what Barry: Dang, that's cold. Jen: is happening? So I'm trying not to be upset about it. But yeah, that was really frustrating. what else? What else? Shaun: with the heartstrings in this buyers' market that we're in right now. Barry: It's a tough market. Jen: It is a tough market Shaun: Yeah. Jen: right now. And I'm but we're not we're it's gonna be fine. Everything's gonna be fine. It's Shaun: It is. It's gonna be great. Jen: gonna be great. Something like that. But yeah, I mean really just a busy week. Lincoln's soccer's going really well. They are undefeated. Go team USA. What is Shaun: I saw the look as soon as she doesn't even hear it anymore. Yeah. Barry: No, she doesn't. Just name dropping up in here. Jen: I d what did you say? Dang. Shaun: Told she she didn't even Yeah, you sure did. Barry: You did it last week too, but you didn't even catch it. Jen: I didn't. I don't hear it anymore. Yeah, Barry: Well, I'm glad to hear they're undefeated. Shaun: Yes. USA. USA. Jen: they are defeated. yeah. Barry: USA USA Jen: Go team USA. Barry: Team USA Jen: But yeah. Had a had a work event on Saturday morning. That was hot but fun. Yeah. Yeah. You're ridiculous. Shaun: Work on a Saturday? No thanks. Jen: Yeah, I had to be there at like seven AM to set up too. It was awful. Shaun: God. Jen: Yeah, it was still dark outside as I was carrying all the stuff in. Ugh, it was not cute. Shaun: Zero percent chance. Jen: Yeah. Barry: Good for you, Jen. Jen: But it was fun. It was good. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Glad you did that. Shaun: Isn't that what you told me last time? Good for you for trying to understand. God. Jen: Good for you. Yeah. Yeah. It's true. Barry: That was it. Jen: But that was my week. Yeah. Shaun: Nice Barry, what you do, Bruh? Jen: Burn. Shaun: Burry? Jen: Barry? Shaun: Besides watch Penn State loss, what else you do? Barry: bro. They shat the bed bro. Did watch that happen. Jen: He's so sad. Barry: I'm not that big of a Penn State fan. I mean, they haven't really been competitive lately. So I mean, they were in the mid teens. It was bound to happen at one point this season. I don't think they were going to go undefeated. And they couldn't lose. had such a weak schedule. So they're done. I'd be surprised if they're Jen: Dang. Barry: able to even get back to being the playoff. Now this it Shaun: It's tough, dude. The play I feel like the playoff picture is gonna be tough this year. Barry: is there's a lot of good teams so Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I did watch that I watched your your UT Longhorn game. I was messing with Shaun during that it was fun. Shaun: Hazard. Barry: It was a lot of fun. Jen: only watching it just so he can mess with you. Shaun: I'll talk about that in a little bit. Barry: Friday I did go out. We went back to that. Hunter road country club. It's good to stay there for a while. Shaun: Hey. Thanks for the invite, dude. That was dope. Barry: Sorry. Shaun: Okay. Barry: It was kind of like last second. I'll let you know. Shaun: it's not good. I don't I don't have a cellphone, so it's fine. Barry: I mean, you do. I could have. Jen: That's a lie. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I have, but... Jen: Mm. Shaun: Nah, it's all good. Barry: I don't always like going out though. I got the bill at the end, was like, dang. Shaun: Mm. Jen: had fun, but I don't know if I had that much fun. Barry: That's what it's always like, dang. Shaun: How is your bill crazy? You don't even like drink Jen: Every time. Shaun: drink like that. Barry: they weren't cheap. I didn't get that many. Yeah, it's a little more. Shaun: This is one of those kind of places. Okay. Barry: Especially when you even paying attention. Jen: Those are fun, but only every now and then. Shaun: Sounds like we might need one then. Barry: Well, maybe give it a couple weeks. Let me recover from this. Let me recover from this one. Shaun: It's like Yeah, I was about to say Jen: And I need to financially recover from the last one. Shaun: filling some Tiger King in there. Jen: I'm never gonna financially recover from this. What a time. Barry: Let me recover. I don't know. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Wow, I don't know. I mean, I'm kind of almost there, but we'll see. Shaun: Dude, we're in the end days. Just blow that just blow that money, dog. Yeah. Jen: Right. Mm mm. Shaun: Almost did last week. Barry: I'm kind of almost there. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: But yeah, and then did some yard work today. I'm not a big fan of that. Shaun: Nice. Jen: Doch. Mm-hmm. Hele. Shaun: I mean at least most of your yard work is in one spot. Barry: Yes. Shaun: It's nice. Barry: And I didn't have to do the whole yard. Luckily. I mean, I just had some weeds. I picked out some like Jen: You little lucky dog. Barry: Paul pulled them out on ground mowed Some of the other ones. It looks good. We'll see how long that holds up. Shaun: We're going into the dormant season. You'll be a Barry: Dude, I really just want to zero escape my whole yard. It's my ultimate dream. But again, I don't want to spend that money. So I'm like, I guess I'll just Shaun: Yeah. Barry: deal with what we got. Shaun: I mean if you decide to, can I have your grass? Please. Barry: I don't have grass, bro. It's just like weeds that we cut down to look like grass. I don't Jen: You could have my weeds. Yeah. Exactly. Barry: do all the things like you do. I should. I don't fertilize and aerate and none of Jen: Aerating and seating and yeah. Barry: that. Might just let grow what grows. Shaun: You say it like I actually do it. I don't do it. I pay people to do it. And my yard is much smaller than yours. much smaller than yours. Barry: Well, I'm not, I don't know. It is, your yard is smaller. I don't say it like that. Jen: That's that's single single income. Shaun: Much smaller than yours. You've got a freaking Barry: You crazy. Shaun: your backyard, dude. You've got a freaking Yes. Jen: He's got a whole forest in his backyard. Shaun: It's like you live? Barry: Luckily, I don't have to upkeep it with that. It's just kind of let it go. I just got to keep. Yeah, it is. Jen: Well this yard is smaller than your last yard, right? So that's kinda nice. Barry: Yeah, we had just under a half acre. This is way more attain like maintainable. For sure. I really want to Shaun: Well, the maintaining part is smaller, right? Yeah. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: zero escape all of it. And I want to redo the back porch. But again, that's not a cheap project. So Shaun: That's money. Yeah. Jen: Mm. Yeah. The back porch will for sure be a hefty one. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: I mean, I would just buy the material and do the work, but it still be a lot of material. So that's kind of what I Jen: Everything's pricey right now. Barry: would just, that's what I'm like. There's Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: no. Jen: And didn't Canada retro or like react and ca yeah, counter tariff and we Barry: Yeah, they counter counter-tariffed. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: get like most of our lumber from them, so Barry: I heard something I think it was on the radio or something they said like a two by four is like 12 bucks now Used to be like five Yeah Jen: Yikes. Yeah, that's wild. Barry: No, why would it why wouldn't you do that there's no reason that what we did so yeah respond Shaun: I mean, can you blame them? I can't. Not at all. Yeah. Yeah. Jen: No, not at all. Not at all. Barry: with unreasoning I mean They do there are like the right actions have consequences life's Shaun: Actions have consequences in the words of Barry. Yes. Jen: Life's about decisions. Barry: about choices But yeah, that was my week. Shaun: Nice. glad Barry: about you bro. Shaun: that you got to go out and have fun on your Friday night and do a big Barry: I felt a little bit bad Saturday morning. Jen: Friday Friday Shaun: Rebecca? That's Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: that's the girl, man. I used to spam that song to people on Fridays. Jen: That's so funny. Pops up every now and then. Barry: That's like, was, Shaun: You don't remember that song? Rebecca Black, Friday? Barry: I do remember it, but I was too old for that song. Shaun: my god, that's I keep forgetting that you're like five Jen: I mean technically I was too, but that's fine. Shaun: years older than us. Barry: That was... yeah, I am. Shaun: Well, Jen, not me. But thirty-eight. But Jin. Yeah. Barry: How old are you? Okay, then I'm about to be four years older than you. Jen: How old are you? Okay, yeah. N for yeah, then me. Shaun: Yeah, so Jen. Jinn's the baby. And Barry's the old man. Just the baby. Jen: I'm just a baby. Just a baby. Shaun: no, my week was pretty chill. I don't feel like I really did a ton. No, I went and got a new set of tires yesterday, which Barry: that's always fun. Jen: Ooh. Shaun: Yeah, very nice. I was like, should I do this every couple of years? Because when I drove off, I was like, it feels like my car is brand new again. Like everything Jen: No, that's too much. Mm. Barry: Do you keep up with your tires? Like rotation balance? okay. Well then you be alright. Yeah, you don't need... Shaun: just feels so much better. Yeah. Like I do rotations, balances, all that good stuff. I Jen: Then you don't need that every two years. Shaun: know, but it's just the Jen: It just felt so nice. Shaun: comfort. Yes, the comfort, the sound. Barry: But those things aren't cheap bro. Jen: Mm mm. Shaun: It's not, but that's I'm saying every couple of years. Like every two to three years, let's say. Two to three years. Barry: I'm gonna ride them till they tell me it's time. Jen: Yeah, I'm gonna stretch them hoes out, thank you. Barry: Like you probably like, hey, you're Shaun: If you think about it, that's cheaper. Barry: in like the low green. Sean's like, yeah, let's go ahead and change them out. You still got it, but Shaun: I was gonna change them. Let's change them. Jen: Yeah, let's Barry: you still got like a quarter inch. Nah, bro, let's just go ahead and change them. I want them to ride like they're brand new, yeah, I do enjoy the smell of the new Jen: You're a salesman's dream. Shaun: Nah, let's get rid of it. But like even like my garage my garage smells so good right now. Like it's just great. Barry: tires. Shaun: Yeah. So did that, which I was at the tire shop while the Longhorns were playing, and I felt very constrained in that moment. Because yeah, I couldn't I couldn't be animated. Barry: Yeah, you can't be yourself, bro. Jen: Yeah. Trying to keep it together. Shaun: I couldn't like really get into it. And there were some crazy things that were happening. Yes. Barry: That was a really good game. Jen: I mean you could've. Shaun: I mean could have, but yeah. It was probably already weird that Barry: People are look at you like you crazy. Nah. Jen: Mm, that's fine. Shaun: I was watching it on my phone because they didn't have it on the TV. So I had my phone out. I had the vol I didn't have the volume all the way up, but I had it loud enough so I thought I could hear it because I forgot my AirPods at home. So I was like, screw it. I know I wasn't thinking ahead. I thought about just coming to your house. Like, hey, I'm on my way. I was like, hey, I'm gonna get it over. I'm just gonna come to your house real quick. Barry: But you had it on to here. Mm. Amateur move, bro. Amateur. You should have. I was going to ask, you around the corner. If you want me to come get you, I'll come get you, bro. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Shaun: But yeah, so I had it I had it on and I was playing it and Barry's texting me back and forth the whole time, agitating me while it's Jen: Mm. Barry: was fun. Shaun: happening too. Barry: It's fun. I like always I just like Jen: Sounds accurate. Barry: to talk trash man even because I don't root for Tennessee but it's just fun to mess with people and their teams playing. Shaun: I mean, I get it. I do too. It's just fun. Yeah. But no, it was really great game. another Barry: It was. Shaun: thriller, another down to the last second Jen: Rowdy one. Shaun: type of a game. But Barry: Yep. Shaun: really good. I'm glad that it it came out the way that it was. Colin Sim Simmons pissed me off for a second, but college Barry: Was that that number one? Shaun: kid, yeah, number one on defense. That's the one I told you, he's a beast. Barry: Dude is real dumb. That was Shaun: That was just a really freaking stupid decision in that moment. Barry: a real dumb one. Shaun: But he came back, he made up for it. That's why, like all the many times. And that's why, like, all of the hate that he's Barry: He did, he made up for it many times. Yeah, he was. Shaun: getting online right now. I'm like, shut up. He's a kid. He made a stupid mistake. And it happens. I Barry: That. Jen: It's true. Shaun: didn't hear people talking about Tom Brady when he said a piss missile when he was freaking commentating last week. So what are we gonna do here? Barry: Or he said this, drop the S-bomb. Shaun: Yeah. He dropped that one too. I I can I can understand that one. Yeah, because we were all thinking that when we saw that injury. Yeah, when we saw that injury, we were all thinking that exact same thing. He just said it on national TV. But yeah. Yeah, yeah. He he immediately apologized. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Now that one was real understandable because I was all thinking is what I what I was thinking. I was like, he said what I exactly what I was thinking. It was nasty, bro. Yeah, gross. he apologized immediately. I'm sure he did get he probably did get fined, but Jen: Mm. He can afford it, it's fine. That's funny. Probably. Barry: it was it was an appropriate response to what happened. Shaun: Yeah. So I don't know. That was really good. got to watch the game. just ran some errands today. Washed my car, picked up some groceries and from the HEB went to the Jen: Not the hib. Shaun: went to the depot. Mine was one thirty to two. Barry: We did too. Three to three thirty was our window. Yo, how do you get in Jen: Mine was four to five. Barry: there? Do you do that like on Saturdays? Shaun: I don't go to that one. Or I don't go to either one of those over there by y'all. I go to the one over here in in my town. Yeah, I mean I wasn't gonna say the name of the town gen, but thanks. No, that's fine. Yeah, I don't really care. Barry: Where is it? Jen: In Seguin? Hmm. y I guess you could blurt that out. Barry: Dang, just put them on blast, Jen. Nah, I tell people that I live in New Braunfels. Shaun: Telling you don't run up on me. That's not a good decision. Jen: I think you've said it before, no? Shaun: Probably. Yeah. But no, yeah, I go over there. Unless Jen: Maybe we weren't recording. Shaun: I'm going like I thought about doing it yesterday and I was just gonna go and pick it up because I was literally at UPS to get the computer. but I was like, nah. No, I was just waiting. Yeah. Well, not Creekside, Barry: You gotta go to Creekside for that? Dang. Shaun: but across, like by the H E B. Yeah, that same area, yeah. Barry: Yeah, yeah, Yeah. Shaun: So near there, 'cause that's where it was on hold. It was on hold at that UPS over there. So I got that too. Barry: Dang, thought there'd one closer to you over there. I guess not, there really ain't much out there, huh? True that, Shaun: Mm, yeah. There's nothing here where I am, bro. Yeah. Barry: true that. Shaun: That's why I'm always in New Braunfels trying to kick it with the high class. Jen: Cool kids. New Braunfels thinks they're cool kids. Shaun: Yeah, the cool kids over there in the NB. Ooh. Barry: New Braunfels is pretty cool. Shaun: See, there we go. Jen: there we go. Exhibit A. Barry: People want to be here, Jen. People want to be here. Shaun: That is true. It is growing. It's growing a lot. But I think everything is growing a lot. Everything between Austin and San Antonio is growing like crazy. Jen: Mm. Yeah. Texas, yeah, is growing a lot, yeah. Barry: no, it is. Yes. Shaun: Yeah. The metro idea is in formation. It is happening. Yeah. Just like Kyle. Kyle has grown up an insane amount in the last like three, four years. Yeah. So we'll see. Barry: it's going to grow together for sure. yeah, Kyle's blown up. Yeah. Yeah. Now they Jen: Yeah, for sure. my gosh, so much. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just waiting Barry: do on the doing the double Jen: for them to build that train. Barry: decker, too Do you hear Elon Musk Shaun: About Ecker. Barry: is trying to build a tunnel underneath? From Austin Jen: No, I did not hear that. Shaun: Underneath where? Barry: to San Antonio for like he did out in L.A. or whatever. Yeah, he's got Jen: Mm, he already has a th thing in Austin. Shaun: For Tesla. Yeah, they have one in Austin. Barry: the what is it? Manufacturing Center. Jen: Mm. Barry: Thing is insane. Shaun: Did you know that there's also now an amusement park, Koda? I did too. I had no idea. I was wondering Barry: Yeah, I just saw that too the other day. No clue. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: because I was going to work the other day and I saw a massive fair as well. I was like, well, maybe they're doing like a fair or something like that. Yeah, there's a Coda amusement park now. Yeah. Barry: It's over by Circuit of Americas. I saw, yeah, Koda, that's what it is. I saw like a, I don't know, like a commercial for it maybe? Shaun: Yeah. So apparently that's happening, which Jen: Weird. Shaun: means that traffic in that area is gonna suck even more. Yeah, Jen: Be great. Barry: You're gonna get better, bro. Shaun: so good thing I don't go over there on weekends. That'll be good. But yeah, I mean that was essentially my week. I don't think that there was much else that I did. Barry: Shaun was gonna come Shaun: So Barry: and assault me if his team lost. Shaun: I I did make that threat and I stand by that threat. Yeah. Because he was talking like it was a Barry: You Jen: But thankfully they won, so we're fine. No Barry's were harmed in the making of Shaun: lockdown deal that they were gonna win. And I was like, dude, there's still a lot of time left on the clock. I d I don't trust it. Barry: It should have been it should have been there was no reason they should have. That was a good game. Shaun: Yeah. I was like, I will come and physically assault you if they end up losing this game. It will happen. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: But luckily, Barry is safe. Barry: They did. Shaun: I still have no record, so we are good. Jen: We love that. Shaun: Yes. But that does bring me to kind of a thought. Like something that I have gotten into now that I've been like going to work on a daily basis, is I feel like I've kind of rediscovered my love of music. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Because for a while I wasn't really listening to music as Jen: Yeah. Shaun: much because like I would listen to it while I'm working and stuff like that, but there's always distractions and messages coming through and stuff like that. But like actually being on a drive, like you're just listening to the music uninterrupted, just chilling. So I feel like I've kind of gotten back to this place of like, man, like what are some good albums that I can listen to? And I I pulled up, I don't know what made me think of it, but Chicken and Beer by Ludacris. Barry: Yo that's a banger bro. I love me some ludicrous bro. Yeah. He put out some bangers back in the early 2000s man. Jen: Okay, yeah. Shaun: has zero skips. Yes, zero skips on that album. Yes. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Like I don't I don't feel like people remember the artist ludicrous. I feel like they remember the actor now. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. That Barry: bro, no, he was dope. No, he was dope as artists. I've got a lot Jen: How good he was. Yes. The actor. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. Barry: of his albums on my like song list for sure. Shaun: Yes. Like there's just so many like just back Jen: What's your fantasy? Shaun: to backs on there and fantasy. That I remember like being a kid and hearing that song. Barry: Bro, that was my high school. Shaun: We hadn't that's one of those songs we had no business listening to or singing or anything like that. Jen: Exactly. No business. No business. The best believe I was. Barry: No business, bro. Not even in high school. Should I have been listening to that stuff? Jen: Mm. Shaun: man, but it was such a banger. Jen: So good. Shaun: So that that makes me ask you all, or want to ask you all, what are some albums or what are some artists that have just like absolute banger albums? Like some of if you had to say like a couple of the best albums Jen: Hm. Shaun: you've ever heard. What would you say? Right? I know another one, any Jen: It's so difficult. Are you thinking any genre? Shaun: genre, like another one that comes to mind that I know that Kenny would 100% like endorse Jen: Take care. Shaun: Take Care. Take care is one of the best albums. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Jen: It's it really is. I literally you I like you said it and I was like that's really is a zero skip album though. Like I they're gonna give me crap for it, but it really is just a zero skip for sure. A hundred percent. And I do think Shaun: No. That is easily his best album by by far. Jen: it's slowly gone down ever since then. Yeah. Barry: Who are we talking about, Drake? Okay, yeah. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Duh, you tell okay, please tell me you've heard take care. Jen: Yeah. I'll take care of Barry: No, I don't get down with Drake. Jen: you. Shaun: I don't I don't really get down with Drake either, Barry: I don't, he was, I was not Shaun: but that album has Barry: into hip hop when he was making his move up. So I don't know any of his early music. I don't really enjoy his music. Like I say, there's like a handful of his songs that I can get down with. Nah. Jen: Hell yeah, hell yeah, hell yeah. Fuckin' right, fuckin' Shaun: Yeah, I first one of the best. Jen: right, all right. Barry: See, no. Shaun: Amen. Jen: That's the motto, you're the one we buy. I'm telling that's a good album. It is. Shaun: That's an album for sure. Jen: That's a good one. Barry: y'all y'all can jam to it the next time we get together. Shaun: Threaten with a good time, I'll do it. Jen: Right? So the first one I'm gonna say is Taylor. So no, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I mean, I'm not, I'm not, but Barry: I know you got one. No, you're not. Shaun: Taylor or Beyonce, I we should know that those are probably gonna be up there for you. Barry: for sure. Jen: Those are gonna come out. Okay, but really, Beyonce Barry: Always. Jen: Liminade is a very much a zero skip. Like all of her albums are amazing. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: I'll give you that, yeah. Jen: Liminade is a zero skip. For sure. It's a zero skip. Especially like start to finish Barry: Yeah, yeah. Shaun: I'll give you eliminate. Yeah. That that's prop. Jen: in the storytelling and the like the cadence of zero skip. For sure. Shaun: Is that her best album? Jen: that's I knew you were gonna ask that. Holistically, I think yes. I don't think it has some of her best songs on it, if that makes any sense. Shaun: Agreed. Mm-hmm. Jen: Like it holistically as an album, for sure. Just because of like what she was going through at time, all of the scrutiny and the public and the story that she told with it and the concept art of like just the videos and everything that came in with it was just insane. and it was just the first of somebody really doing an album like in that style, I think. in my head. so yeah, holistically I think it's her best album, but I don't know if it has some of her best songs on it. Shaun: I agree. I agree across the board Jen: Yeah. Shaun: with that. Yeah. Jen: So that's one. Barry, what do you have? I'm trying to think. Barry: For me, Black Album, Hover, that's a zero skip for me. It's probably one of my top time, like all Shaun: Ooh, Jay Z. Okay. Jen: Okay. Okay. Barry: time top favorite albums. Shaun: Man. Jen: I don't know I can't remember. Barry: And then Kanye College Dropout. Shaun: okay. That's another one. Jen: What's dang. Shaun: I I feel like people forget how good he was early because he went crazy. Yeah, before he went crazy. Jen: Yes. So good. Before he went cray-cray right? Barry: Yo, his early self was genius. And that was like my the end of my high school beginning, like going into college. Like that was prime. Jen: What one had Monster on it? 'Cause that one was a banger. And then the one with the heart on the album cover. Barry: I don't know. I know college dropout and then. Jen: Monsters like the red, it's red and there's a square on it, but I don't remember what the Barry: No, that's too... I think that's too late for me. Shaun: Yeah, I think that was like Jen: That one was really good. Shaun: post going crazy. Was it not? Okay, maybe it was the beginning of crazy then. Barry: But yo, that was like the beginning of craziness. Yes. That Jen: That wasn't post crazy. No way. No. May Barry: was when he was like borderline genius crazy. was like little, little gray. Which way is he going to go? He went. Yeah, he didn't. Jen: Which way is he gonna fall? He clearly fell one way. Shaun: Yeah. You've got you've got two different ways to go. Which way? No, monsters Jen: We know no. Shaun: on Jen: I can see the album in my head. I just don't know what it's called. Shaun: I think it's like my beautiful, dark, twisted or my dark, twisted, beautiful Is it fantasy or nightmare? One of those. Jen: Well, now we're really on track with the it's borderline. Yeah. I don't know. But that one was really good. That Barry: Again, y'all losing me, bro. Y'all losing me. Shaun: It's it's one of those. that's gonna drive me crazy. I'm gonna have to look it up. Jen: one was good. another zero skip, which is kind of a throwback. I cannot think of the name right now, but it's like their most famous album. It has the naked baby swimming on the front of it. But Nirvana, yes. That one's a no skip. So good. So good. Shaun: Mm-hmm. That's an iconic that's an iconic album art. Yeah. Barry: Nirvana. Yeah, you hear about that guy who came back as an adult and tried to sue them? he Jen: And sue him. No, he did sue them. He didn't try, he did. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: didn't win, he tried to sue him, didn't successfully get anything. Jen: They didn't settle? I thought they sold or something like that. Barry: And now I think he lost. Jen: Hm. Shaun: Hm. I wouldn't be surprised. Jen: Well yeah, cause his parents probably signed off on it. And so I mean just Shaun: My beautiful Barry: I don't Shaun: dark Barry: know. Shaun: twisted fantasy, that's what it was called. It's a red album and it like the pixelated square in the middle. Yeah. I was like, it's my Jen: Mm. That tracks now. Yes. Okay, I was like, it's a square, but I don't know. I got nothing else for ya. Barry: Yeah, see, I was too. Yeah, no. That was too. It was too off the wall for me at that point. Bro, did you ever Shaun: I knew the words, they were just scrambled. Jen: But that was a good album. Barry: hear Jay-Z did a I don't know, like a combo album for the American gangster soundtrack? It's called The American Godfather. Jen: Mm mm, that's a good movie though. Shaun: yeah, he had the Barry: But did you hear this album called The American Godfather? They took like They bit from like the Godfather movie and soundtracks Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: and like mixed it in with the American Gangster. Bro, one of my favorite albums ever to Jen: Hmm. Yeah, I didn't know that either. Shaun: no, I didn't know that. Barry: like start to finish. I don't know if you could find it anymore, but I used to have that on like Jen: Huh. Well we gotta look it up now. Barry: CD and then on my line wire with all the other viruses I downloaded. Shaun: Malma. Jen: my gosh. Lime wire. How many computers that I ruined? Barry: Back in the day, I actually owned it though. At least I owned it. Shaun: You didn't own anything, you stole it. Jen: Mm mm. Mm mm. Barry: Not anymore. I still, I still own it. Jen: It was in my possession. On my C D. That's Barry: It was in my possession. That's nine tenths of the law. Shaun: man. Jen: so funny. Barry: But that's another one of my top favorites. Jen: Mm. Shaun: I might have to listen to that 'cause I'd I'd never heard of that. Barry: Try and find it. I don't even know. I haven't even looked on Spotify for it. But it's called The Shaun: I see. Barry: American Godfather. Shaun: I might have to look it up on here. Barry: It was, that Jen: Where else? Barry: was a jam. And then TI put out a lot of good music in early 2000s, bro. Like trap music, Shaun: Dogtia is one of the most underrated artists or Jen: T I did. Barry: urban legend, just Jen: Yeah. Barry: bangers, bro. Jen: I don't know if he's underrated though. You think he's underrated? Shaun: he's definitely underrated. Barry: Yeah, I would agree. He's definitely underrated. He's a Jen: Hmm. I think he's perfectly rated. I don't know. Shaun: Especially especially in the grand Barry: No, bro. Shaun: scheme of like southern rap artists, shamefully underrated. Jen: Yeah, but I feel like okay, so maybe underrated in the masses because I feel like in the like rap community he's very like people very much look up to him and like I don't know. Maybe just in for the masses he's not as popular. Barry: He was well known in the South, but I don't think he got as much notoriety like nationally. I don't think enough. Shaun: yeah, he didn't get a lot of national attention, like mainstream. Jen: Hmm. Yeah. Shaun: Not not much. He did get some, but not much. Like him and when him and Justin Timberlake paired up, he got quite a bit there. But Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: But dude, he put out a lot of good. yeah. Yeah, that kind of helped him go on a national. Jen: Ooh, that was good. Barry: But now his those early albums were bangers to well. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Another one that I don't the artist isn't my favorite, but I respect Jen: Okay. Shaun: a lot of the work that he does is Jen: Okay. Shaun: Good Kid Mad City, Kendrick Lamar. Great album. Jen: Mm. I wasn't that's shocking 'cause yeah, you say that all the time. Like you're not a super huge Kendrick fan. Shaun: I'm not a super huge fan. Jen: So I'm really shocked about that one. Hmm. It is a good album. Shaun: I think that what makes me yeah, what makes me struggle with him is his consistency. He's not consistent with putting out new music. But when he does, it's usually pretty special. Yeah. Jen: Hmm. It's great. Mm-hmm. Barry: Like you said, in just the amount of time, to get out. Shaun: Yeah. Same thing with like Rihanna lately. Like she doesn't put out anything anymore, but like when she does like Jen: Yeah. Shaun: hop on a song with people, it's usually a Jen: Chef's Kiss. Shaun: pretty special song. Barry: Yeah. Jen: Have you seen the videos of her hopping on stage with who was it? She just performed with somebody. It was very controversial online because people were like, Okay, Rihanna, give us nothing. Yeah. You haven't seen it. You'll have to look it up and let me know what you think. But yeah, I was like, Y'all better put Shaun: What? No. Yeah, I'll have to check it out. Jen: some respect on Rihanna's name. Okay. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah, but I Jen: But Shaun: don't know. That that album was just crazy. Like, Don't Kill My Vibe. Poetic Justice. Like Swimming Pools was on that album. Like, that's it's just a great album. Barry: That's a banger bro poetic justice is a jam. Yeah. Yeah, that is true. Jen: And don't kill my vibe. Mm. So good. Yes. That's a good one. Shaun: There's just so many good songs on that album. Barry: Have you it? Don't kill my vibe remix with Hova That's a banger. I think that might be better than the original, honestly. Jen: I can see a planet away. Shaun: Yes, I have heard it. Yeah. I think you add Jay, to a to a song, it's usually gonna be a little bit better in most situations. Yeah. Barry: Hope it usually does take it to another level. This is true. Jen: Hmm. Shaun: I don't know. Jen: What's another Barry: I'm trying to think. Shaun: I'm so I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised that you haven't thrown Taylor out there yet, Jen. Jen: I'm trying to hold it back. I mean, if I'm gonna tell you l okay, if I'm gonna pick one and I can only pick one, I think for you specifically you'll vibe the most with midnights. Shaun: Isn't that one of the newer ones that just came out? I I think that's one that I tried to listen to. Jen: It is newer. Well, it's like three albums back. It's purple. Well, so I speak now, so that's not good. Barry: It's that purple album, bro. Shaun: That part Jen: It's newer. Shaun: purple stuff purple. Barry: You gonna lose me with, I don't wanna listen to Taylor Swift. Jen: I don't listen to Taylor Swift Barry: Sorry, I'm not going to be rude. For Shaun? Okay. Shaun: I can't even lie. Jen: But if I had to pick one for you, it's not necessarily my favorite. Yes. Shaun: I mean it's not it doesn't have to be for me. I'm just saying like in your opinion. Jen: Well, but I think you would I think you would vibe with it a lot. Like there's certain Barry: No, but what's your no skipper? Shaun: Yeah, what would you say is like one of her best? Jen: my no skipper is folklore, number one, and then number two is reputation. Those are my top two. Shaun: You know, and now that I'm thinking of this, like I don't even know why we're asking you that because we don't know a single Taylor Swift album. I think I can speak for both Jen: Yeah. Shaun: of us and say that. Could not. If you were to give us a quiz on which ones are Taylor Swift names, we would fail. That that would be very embarrassing. Barry: I couldn't name one. Sure, folklore. Agreed. we would horribly fail. Nah, that would be embarrassing. I don't hate it. I just don't Jen: That's so sad. One of these days we're gonna make that happen. I know Barry said he hated it, but we're gonna we're just gonna do it. Barry: get down with it. I would probably actually know some because of Becca and the girls. I Jen: Yeah. Barry: might be able to beat Shaun just because I know him, because they were all over it. I have been exposed, but it's not by choice. Shaun: Okay, are we saying albums or songs? Jen: You've been exposed to it. Barry: albums you we would probably probably that would probably be a wash because I probably couldn't name what songs belong to albums. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah, I think s I think songs. If you give us a quiz on songs, like what Jen: Songs. Shaun: what is Yeah, like what is the Taylor Swift Jen: I can make that happen too. Or like finish the lyric. Shaun: song? finished the lyric done. No. Barry: Yeah, probably not, no. Nah, let's not go that far. Shaun: No. Jen: You could finish some of them. There's like so many Barry: Nah. Jen: just pop insane here around everywhere and in movies that you could. Barry: That's what you think, but I don't Shaun: She's cheer, captain, Barry: even listen to the radio that much. Shaun: and I'm in the bleachers. Jen: Yeah, mm, but you hear Shaun: I know that one. Jen: it in st it's a mm baby, just say yes. Thank you. You could Shaun: Love story. Mm. Jen: do it. Shaun: See? Barry: Whatever you want to do, I don't... Whether you want to see us crash Jen: You could do it. Barry: or burn, that's up to you. Jen: Okay. I'll start planning it in my head. Anyways, midnights is the one I'm gonna toss at you if you wanna listen start to finish. Shaun: Okay. Jen: 'Cause I think you'll like that one the most. Shaun: I would love to say that I will give it the good old college try, but I don't wanna lie. Jen: A shot. Whatever. I told him to listen to False God like two Barry: Don't lie. Jen: and a half years ago and he still has not listened to it. Shaun: False God that's the one. Yeah, I still haven't listened to that. Jen: I was like, this is the most RMBE song that Taylor Swift has. Listen to it. Barry: yeah, I remember that! I remember now. Jen: Yeah. He did it. You can, Shaun. You can. Life's about choices. You can choose to do Barry: He didn't ever listen, Shaun: I just can't, like I just can't, like, I can't. It's just like Barry: That's all a choice, Life's about choices. Jen: it. Shaun: it's just like I forgot who it was, but somebody I think it was, I think it was my friend Brittany, was like telling me to listen to or maybe it was Sabrina. I don't know, it was one of them. They were telling me to listen to Billie Eilish. And I just I just can't Yeah. Jen: Ooh, so good. Barry: She's pretty solid on some songs. Shaun: And I I like some of her music, but like just Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: listening to an album, I I couldn't do it. Barry: I wouldn't sit there and listen to it though, no. Jen: I can tell you some songs to listen Barry: I would agree. Jen: for Billy, but I don't know if there's a a no skip album of hers. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: My daughter's like her. Jen: Yeah, th she's got some really great stuff. Barry: They wanted to go to her concert, but them tickets were... No go! Jen: Yeah. Pricey. Mm. Mm. Aren't they all? Shaun: I can only imagine her tickets is probably like insane. Barry: Yo, the ticket scalpers Jen: yeah. Barry: completely ruined that for regular people like straight up. Jen: Yeah. I truly don't know how Shaun: Yeah. Jen: they haven't made s like Ticketmaster hasn't done anything about it, which is just kind of weird. Barry: Cause they don't care, drives money to there. They get a percentage of that. They're fine with it. Yep. Yep. They still get the cut every time it gets resold. They're cool with it. They don't care. is Jen: Yeah. And then they resell on their platform so they still get double money, so they don't care. Yeah. Yeah. It's wild. Just wild. Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yup. Making that dough. Barry: capitalism and greed and never fails. Shaun: The only people that are really getting screwed over are the artists. They're the only ones that are really getting screwed over. Jen: Yeah, 'cause the fans are gonna get mad at Barry: And the true fans. Jen: them. Shaun: Yeah, yeah, the true fans, yeah. The ones that miss out on being able to go. Barry: The true fans who got to pay the one or they don't. Yeah, they don't choose. Yeah, that's insane. It's crazy, bro. Jen: Or have to sit in queues for days at a time and never get a code and then have to pay the scalper prices if they want to go. Yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: It's insane. Barry: But speaking of listening to start to finish, me and Shaun did listen to J. Cole. Jen: The new one? Start to finish. Side A and B or disc one, disc two, I think it was what he labeled it as. Shaun: That's true. We did Barry: It was good. I hadn't done it since I. Yeah, it was good. Whatever. Shaun: I played there were times where we were talking, especially once we got closer to Austin. We were we were pretty heavy in a conversation at that point. There's a that's a good album. It's just one of those if you are not Barry: Yeah, no, but it's still I forgot how many good songs that were on it. There are. That's a good one. That was a good album. I don't know if it would have Jen: His flow is so good. It's yeah, it's insane. Barry: stopped to finish all the way, but I would be very few skips on it for me. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: probably I could get to where I just listen to it if I listen to it. We listed the whole thing on the way there and back. That was good. That was good. Jen: Did you get to listen to the second half? Because the second half I loved even more than the first half. Shaun: And I wouldn't even say that this is best. Yeah. yeah. Yeah. Barry: What's gonna happen? Shaun: I I mean I wouldn't say that that's his best I would say twenty fourteen Four Seals Barry: no no no no no Shaun: Drive is probably his best album. Jen: Yeah, I agree. Shaun: But it was a really good one. Yeah. Another one Jen: But it's still really good. And some of the lyrics and stuff in it are insane. Shaun: Yeah. Another one that is just kind of pulled out of thin air right here. Jen: I love those ones. They're my favorite ones. Shaun: Because he I don't he's another one that I don't really know that he's seen as an artist anymore because of how much he's in the news Jen: Okay. Controversy? Shaun: for trolling people. But get rich or die tryin Jen: Okay. Shaun: 50 cent. It's another one. Yes. Yes. Barry: yo, that was a banger. Yeah, that's true. That is true. Jen: For sure. Yeah. For sure. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: I think that people forget like he was a rapper, like real rapper. Like when you have patiently Jen: He was poppin', yeah. Yeah. He was. Barry: Yeah, he came in hard with that one. Shaun: waiting and minim back to back, come on. Come on. Jen: Mm-hmm. And that really was like a a sign of the times kind of like he even Shaun: Yes. Jen: talked about it because I'm I'm always gonna bring the conversation back, Taylor Swift apparently. 'cause in one of her newer songs, she shouts him out and then he got interviewed about it and he was like, yeah, blah, blah, blah. And he was like, But the real reason is because like my genre or like my era of rap was like just a sign of the times. Like that's just what was hot. than in that time frame. So like you hear one of my songs and you're kind of thrown back into Shaun: Yeah. Jen: that time. And I was like, you big right. And he's petty. He is a petty king and I love it so much. I love it so much. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: No, it was, again. he is very... He's not ashamed of it either. Shaun: He is so petty. It's great. But that's what I'm saying. I feel like people forget like some of his music and how great it really was back then. Yeah. Barry: No, no, that was my freshman year in college, bro. Like you talk about Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: taking back to a time that was my freshman year in college, bro. Without the pin say I was out Jen: Mm-hmm. Somebody else was just saying that about Shaun: That was when Barry really cut loose. Barry: there running these streets, bro in Philly, and stuff. Doing bad things. Jen: Mm. Yeah, like stealing your mom's car. Actual worst things. That's Barry: No, this was way after that. I was doing... Yeah, probably. Shaun: Nah, this is way after that. This these are way worse things that he was doing. gosh. Barry: actual worst things. Jen: so funny. Shaun: Nah, but I just want to I just wanted to Barry: Yeah. Shaun: check on that with y'all. I mean that does give me some things to Jen: I can send you some more. Shaun: to also kind of go back into. Barry: Hmm, yeah bro. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: But like I just forgot how much I really love music and yeah. Right? Yeah. And how much it can just take you to a different place. Barry: When you got a long drive, it is enjoyable to put on album. Let it go. No, don't you just don't even play random. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: Just do like do it in order. Enjoy it the way the artists wanted you to enjoy it. For sure. yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Yes. Mm-hmm. Jen: Yeah. Especially for certain albums, like it's built that way and it is a different experience if you listen to it like that. Shaun: J. Cole does that a lot. Jay Z does it a lot too. Beyonce, Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: Mm hmm. Very much. Jen: I was never super beginner. Mm-hmm. Yeah exactly. Yeah. Shaun: like they just like build off of the previous song. It's like a story, yeah. Barry: It's a storytelling man. It's storytelling Jen: Mm-hmm. And especially Barry: for sure. Jen: now, like with with the way that people intake music, you do lose that. Like most people don't listen to an album. Like, okay, I'm starting it here and I'm gonna listen all the way through to the end. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: Like you just don't. You just pick which ones you want. What are the, you know, hot sons on the TikToks that they go and add to their playlist, and then you build your own and you never listen to the entirety of the album. So Shaun: Then it just gets taken away. Jen: Thanks, long commutes, for providing him an opportunity. Shaun: Right. I appreciate it. Just another thing the chalk up too. Like it it's actually a really good, really good time. So Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: everything works out. Jen: Love it. Barry: eventually. Shaun: But yeah. But there is also a well, Jen, I wanna I wanna ask you on this. I'm Jen: Hm. Shaun: I'm so glad that we have you as a part of the show, Jen, because it allows us Jen: Came. Shaun: to talk on conversations like this. So, first of all, I wanna say that I think that I can speak for all of us as a show. We do Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: not agree with the majority. almost everything that this person Jen: Yeah. Shaun: that we're about to talk about says. Just want to put that out there right now. But I thought that it was a very interesting clip that I sent. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: 100 % agreed. Jen: Throwing it out there. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: We did, yes. I sent it. Shaun: So very interesting clip that we had in the group chats. And then Jen, you were like, well, we can talk about this. So yeah. Jen: Yeah, because I responded to that one and said, listen, there's too Barry: Yes. Jen: much happening in here that we're going to have to take it to the record. Absolutely not. Barry: Too much. You couldn't let it go. Shaun: Yeah. Yes. So let's talk about it. Before we talk about it though, we're gonna give you guys some context. We're gonna play the clip for you so that you can see what she says. We're gonna Jen: Me some of Shaun: play that right now. we're gonna cut it right there, Jen. What are your thoughts? Barry: She couldn't even make it through the whole thing, bro. Shaun: I know. She had to cut it off. Barry: She had to cut it off. you're muted. It happened. It's Regin. there it goes. TikTok shop strikes again. Shaun: no what are the chances? What you're back. Okay, cool. Tick tock, tickety Jen: There goes. Just won't touch it again. Won't touch it. Anyways, I just had to get the cord just right. Shaun: tock. man. Jen: yeah, I have so many thoughts. I think that this kind of rhetoric plays on, honestly, plays in preys on the idea that people always just want to take advantage and like That work working hard or taking accountability, I feel like is very much a topic of conversation for both sides of the aisle politically, but just people in general. have I agree that there is a lack of like gumption in the world today. Like people don't necessarily want to like get up and do things or work hard. And that really is the goal is what can I do? with like the least amount of effort. You talked about it last week, Shaun. Like convenience is what sells. Like if it makes Shaun: Vous. Jen: it convenient, like that's what people want. They don't necessarily want to work hard. So I feel like this kind of the things that she's saying in here, like preys on that idea and tries to just loop people in of like, okay, I can see what she's saying. Yeah, because they agree with that sentiment. And I think what she is saying is very different. Because hormones are a thing. Mental health is a thing. Medications having side effects are very much a thing. Doctors making mistakes and being predatory is very much a thing. Like there's so many, so much nuance in everything that she's saying, but she's saying it in a way that's sensationalized and just saying, like, well, you gotta pick women. And I feel like as a woman, what are you saying? Like truly, what are you saying? Shaun: Yeah. Jen: In a world like I there was a I can't even remember what she said now. But she said something about like, and men just have to sit there and handle it or take it. Like, men have to sit there and just handle it and take it. Barry: We got it rough, Jen. We got it rough, you know. Jen: very Lord. Shaun: I mean it's not all cups cake Barry: It's a joke. It is a joke. Shaun: it's not all cupcakes and rainbows. Jen: Mm mm. Mm-mm. No, you're human. There's trials and tribulations. But what she was saying, I just strongly disagree with. I think it's presented in a way that is completely incorrect. And I do think too, it's mental health is already a hard thing for people, I think, to truly understand or really get behind. I think you see it a lot too with like behavioral things. Just in his throughout history, which again, I am no expert, everyone. This is just my humble opinion. But Barry: As always. Shaun: Yes. Jen: mental disabilities have been v have they've come a long way, but throughout history have been very poorly understood, handled, treated. And I think it's the same thing with people. you hear it a lot with people in anxiety these days, of like, Okay, just everybody has anxiety these days and that's what they use to not have to do stuff. Like I it's it's hm, I just hmm Yeah. Barry: I want to be honest in this. I struggle to empathize with people who, I don't want to, it's not the word use, because, but I don't know. Shaun: Abuse? Barry: I don't want to say abuse. I just, I don't know if it's the way that I see the world. I don't know if it's the fact that Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I'm a dude. I don't know what it is, but yes, worrying about things is a human nature. to the point where you're creating Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: false scenarios and that they cripple you. I just have a hard time as I just, we joked as we came into the episode, like life is about choices. Yes, there are things that are gonna scare Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: you and that make you have fear, but at some point you have to make the choice to do it or not. And I just don't, Jen: Hundred percent. Barry: I find it very challenging to put like, okay, we've crossed that point of where You've got to make a choice. just Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: I've sent Shaun many a text and speaking of 50 cents, one is he's like depression and anxiety. Those are rich people. Diseases are like those are people who just don't have the choice. Like you can sit there Jen: No, yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: and you have enough comfort and you have enough just ability in life to Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: to worry about things that aren't necessarily a big problem. Like, I don't Jen: Mm. Barry: know. I've just always like, you know, I just got to do what I got to do. Regardless of the way I Jen: Yeah. Barry: feel about it, I still got to do it. So I don't Jen: Mm. Barry: I do struggle to see it. I'm not and I'm not saying that I don't because I know it is a thing. I will not Jen: Mm. I just see it I I I completely agree. No, I completely agree. Barry: say that mental health is not a problem. People do have it. So please don't think that I don't think it's a real thing. No, no, but I do struggle to Jen: He said, Don't clip me, Jen, into just saying that little section. Yeah. Barry: find the point of where it is like. Okay, yes, you've expressed these emotions, but you still have to work through them. Jen: Yes, a hundred percent. But I don't see that as an issue with the anxiety or the thought of diagnosing and things like that around mental health. I see that as an issue of as a human society and I feel like it goes back to the comfort thing. Like we've just gotten so into this ingrained in and so young people have only been brought up in the social media era, in the technology era, where it is all about convenience. What is the least amount of effort I can put in? What c is gonna do it for me? Barry: And I'm down for that too, but I still feel like you just at some point gotta be like, yo, I gotta do this. Jen: Yes, but young people have Shaun: Pull up by your bootstraps. Jen: not grown up in that. Barry: I don't want to say that. I don't want to say pull. I hate that term. That is the stupidest term to me. Pull up, pull it up by your like, what are we even talking about? Who wearing boots and why? Yo, I wear flip flops. So what do you mean? Yeah, what are we talking about, Jen: No, I do hate that term too. But that's just what my brain says. Whose boot? Yeah. I wear flip-flop. Shaun: Why do you have straps on your boots? What are we talking about? Barry: bro? I get it. You do Shaun: god. Barry: just have to and for lack of a better term, man up, woman up, however you want to say it. But Jen: Yes, you just have to get it done. Yes. But again, I think you feel that way because you've experienced it. You Shaun: point. Jen: have sorry. You Barry: Bring it. Jen: I'll sit on my hands. I get very animated when I talk. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: but no, you've experienced turmoil and trials that have gotten you to the point where you just say, All right, no, that's what I have to do. I'm just gonna do it. But a lot of people, especially younger people, who it's more prevalent in and who people have a lot more issues with saying anxiety have only grown up and been exposed to humanity in a world where technology is pushed so much, where convenience is pushed so much. So then you're telling them, like, we want all of these things and you've only ever known all of these things, but you still need to get out there and work hard. And I'm I don't I don't know what the right answer is. Like I don't I like technology too. I like my robo vacuum that vacuums and mops my floors so that I don't have to. I like that, but I don't know. I just feel like the issue with anxiety and depression and things like that isn't the issue is not actually with those things. Shaun: think the bigger issue which I think I think that all of us can agree that mental health is extremely important and being able Barry: Yes. Jen: For sure. Shaun: to get the the proper the proper care that you need for you as a person. Yeah, because it can be different for every single person, getting that proper care Barry: Yes, because we're all different people on all different paths. Yes, we are all different people. Yes, I agree with that, Shaun, 100%. Jen: Care and mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: should be taken care of. Barry: Yes. Shaun: I think the bigger issue at play here is accountability or the lack thereof accountability. Because Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: I feel like there are certain points to where people do get into that point to where they are so stressed or they have so much anxiety about a situation that they they start to feel that no matter or maybe not, this is what they feel. I don't know. I can't say how they feel. But Jen: My perception of how they are. Yeah. Shaun: But there turns yeah, there there turns Barry: say yeah yeah what you think they might be thinking Shaun: out to be the situation that they get this decision paralysis or whatever may happen, and then there's no accountability for it. And Barry: That's a thing. Yeah. Shaun: then it's just all of a sudden no longer your fault because you had anxiety or because you were stressed about a situation. Exactly. That's why I Barry: But not making a decision is your fault. You didn't make a choice. That's a choice. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: think the accountability piece is the bigger, the bigger play here. Yeah. Barry: That's where I struggle with it. That was your choice, Jen: Issue. Barry: is you did not decide you took no action. That's your choice. Jen: Yeah. No a hundred Shaun: Or Jen: percent. Shaun: you did make a decision and you acted on that decision and Barry: And it was... Mm-hmm. Shaun: now you don't want to be, yeah, and now you don't want to be held accountable for it. Exactly. Like we were talking about earlier. Decisions have consequences. Jen: And it was a poor decision, and you don't want to be held accountable. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Which is very like it's Barry: Now you don't like the consequence. Like we talked about earlier, there are consequences for choices and actions. SITS and CONSEQUENCE. Jen: so funny because I feel like this is what we talk about to our kids all day long. Life's about choices and you made a poor decision and this Barry: It is. Jen: is your consequence and you need to make Shaun: Yeah. Jen: that connection as a young child. Barry: No, but I agree. I agree. I think it is to Jen's point. Like we have as a society, like we don't let kids fail and have consequences Jen: No Barry: for their choices. It's hard to do that as a parent, but Jen: Yeah. It is. Barry: yo, I failed many a time. I got in trouble many a time for the horrible choices that I made. And I Jen: yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: learned from said choices. Did I like that consequence? No. So am I going to do that again? Jen: No Barry: Not if I want the same consequence. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Spare the Barry: But Shaun: rod, spoil the child. Barry: I mean, I don't know, bro. It's tough. mean, true. Some of them could benefit from a swift rod to the you know what? A little bit. Yo, some of them, Jen: I mean no rods need to be involved just to PSA. Leave the rods somewhere else. But mm mm. Mm mm. Mm mm. Mm mm. Mm. Shaun: They need consequences. I don't know. Some of these kids need some of these kids need a good whooping. Some of these kids need a spanking. I don't know. Maybe maybe they would act a little better. But Jen: No, it's more their parents need some discipline. Barry: all of the above, Jen. Shaun: Accountability parents need accountability Jen: Yeah, yeah. Barry: Parents need it just like these kids do and that is a societal issue. Coming out of teaching, Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: Yes. Just like I saw the Barry: bro, I saw it way too often. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: I'm sure. Yeah. Barry: Parents nowadays want teachers to be the parents and do the punishing and there's, but then it's not followed through with at home. No, it's like, Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: Mm. And holding accountable and mm hmm. Yeah. Barry: they're the bad guy. The teacher's the bad guy. And that's how we talked Jen: Mm. Barry: about like, what was the last episode or two? Like if we have a problem at school that my child is working or dealing with, they're going to communicate with that teacher. I will get involved if there's a breakdown in said communication. I don't feel like it's being fair, but I'm not going to do it for you. You're going to have those conversations because it's not in my relationship with them. It's your relationship with them. Jen: Mm. Barry: But that is, I don't feel as the norm for a lot of people. Shaun: think so. I think that there is this misconception of that when kids are at school, and again, I'm not a parent, I'm not a teacher. This is some outside looking in. But when kids are at school, the parents are no longer the parents. The teacher Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: No, you still are. No, you should still be the parent. Shaun: is now the parent. And the teacher is taking care of everything. Jen: Mm. Shaun: But no, you as a parent are still responsible for everything that your kid is doing while they are at school. Like you are Jen: Yes. Mm-hmm. Barry: 100%. Shaun: the one that is responsible for disciplining them for things that they do poorly. Jen: Mm hmm. Barry: If they are rude to their teacher, then the parent should be the disciplinary. Yep, 100%. Jen: Mm-hmm. That's on you. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: they they should get discipline for that. You are also the one that should be there to give them the support and to encourage them when they do something that is great. So if they yeah. Barry: Love them, yes. To Jen's point, when they Jen: Yeah. Barry: fail, hug them and tell them you love them, right, Jen? Jen: Yes, Barry, do that. Shaun: And it is okay to call your kid a loser. You lost. You're a loser. It's Jen: Tell them I love you. But that was a really dumb decision. Shaun: okay. Barry: No, don't tell them they're a loser, but tell them that losing is okay. You are gonna lose in life. Jen: No. Losing is okay. Shaun: You are a loser. Like you lost that game. It's okay. It's okay. Yes. Jen: You are the biggest loser. Goodbye. Barry: You lost, it happens. It's tough. It isn't fun to lose. As I've said, I hate Jen: Yeah. Barry: losing, but I Shaun: Yes. Barry: can still lose with dignity and sportsmanship and still say, hey, because I don't lose. You're right. You have yet to see me lose, Jen. Good point. Jen: Yeah. I mean I have yet to see it, but you know, I'm sure it's there somewhere. Mm mm. Mm Shaun: Is it okay? So is it okay to tell your kid that they are smart if they are getting Barry: When it happens, y'all will see that. Jen: mm. Shaun: like all D's and F's? Barry: I don't know if I'd approach it with that. I've been like what's causing why are we getting these if Jen: Again, I f I feel like that's on the parent at that point because you are the accountability for your child. Like you are until they are adults and have other side. Yes. Exactly. Yeah. Like you don't have to do their homework for them, but it is your job to make sure that they get it done. Or set the expectation. Yeah. But again, expectations are only as good as the accountability that comes behind them. Shaun: Yeah. Like you're so smart. Don't worry about this. Yeah. Barry: No, that is a parenting problem. Yes. We have that conversation every day. Yo, do you have homework? Let's go ahead and pull your stuff out. Let's take a look. Let's make sure. No, it is on you as a parent because no, set the expectations that they get it done and then they're not going to be out here doing what they want. Whatever your, it's accountability. Yep, for sure. Jen: So again, I look I look at the parents. Shaun: So if we if we go back to the world of the video where she's talking Barry: Yeah. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: about essentially the and Jen, I'm I'm gonna throw this to you because it is she is talking about women in this situation, very women focused, and that specific case that Barry: It's tough for this, case that she's talking about. Yes, it is. And the specific case. Jen: Okay. Mm-hmm. It is very women focused. Shaun: it was talking about as well. Everyone knows the name Lindsay Clancy by now. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: you can see it in the sidebar of the video and everything as well. Barry: Yeah, the little comment section. Jen: Mm. Shaun: So, I mean That's a whole different situation. Jen: yeah. Shaun: But like when we think about accountability, Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: there is a lack of accountability. We can all agree. And Barry: on a lot of people. Shaun: in the Jen: Yeah. Shaun: general consensus of us as adults, we lack accountability in a lot of different areas. It's gonna be different for every person. Jen: Mm. Shaun: But the way that she's saying it, Jen, she's throwing a lot of Jen: generalizations and Shaun: Generalizations and pressure on women Jen: Yeah. Shaun: in a sense of women want everything without having to be accountable for anything is basically what she is saying there. Jen: Any accountability, yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: So when you hear that, water I'm okay. I was about to say I feel like I'm scared to ask you this, but what is that? Jen: It makes me want to throw elbows. Barry: Good thing we're recording virtually, Shaun. Shaun: Yes. Be in a mosh pit all of a sudden. Barry: We be getting some bows. of chicken and beer, bro, she Jen: that's what it makes me feel. There Barry: be throwing them bows. Jen: there we go. Barry: I don't know if that's on that album, but it just made me think of Ludacris. But also, but it was a good transition. Jen: But also but it worked really well. Shaun: it's not. man. So yeah, I Jen: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, that's what I said. Like coming from a woman that's woman to woman, that's so hard to hear because it is a really big struggle. Like women's health and the amount of money that is put into researching and understanding women's health is like a drop in the bucket comparatively to what is should actually be out there to truly understand how a woman's body works. Most of the procedures, diagnosis diagnoses, all of the stuff that women get treatment for is based on research that was done for a man's body. And women's bodies are very different. And so I feel like that's the same it's in the same scope. Like to hear another woman saying, like, you may you're having all of these hormones and you're having all of these things which Whatever. My brain's going too fast because I want to say something. I was no, that's too personal. Don't say that. I was like, don't be putting your own business out there, Jen. But To hear another woman like just straight going for the jugular of things that are like really serious issues for women that women struggle with to just get access and to get actual like things and to say that we're just using it as an excuse to like not be held accountable for things is wild. Like especially for around one case and you're again generalizing for so many things. But that's the danger with things Barry: Yeah, across all women. Jen: like that. sensationalized bits like that is like people will take that and run with it and will use it to further their Barry: Yeah. Jen: own agenda, which it's just gross. Shaun: So what do you think about and I don't know if you've seen these or not, but there's like this this woman who goes around and she's asking, she's got on a poster board, she's got a picture of Lindsay Clancy on one side, and on the Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I would say eighty percent of the videos that I've seen have pointed Jen: Pick Sydney Sweeney. Shaun: at yeah, Sydney Sweeney. Barry: Women, did they specifically? Jen: Why do you think they they pick her over Lindsay Clancy? Shaun: I think it is a sexualization type of a situation Barry: Yeah. Jen: Mm. Shaun: and how that covers the entire gender itself, Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: that women are oversexualized. And we we even talked about it last time with the the man versus bear in the woods and things like Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: that. I I think that they see that as something that damages women across the board. Jen: Hundred percent. Shaun: Whereas with Lindsay Clancy, they're saying that it only damages women in the sense of like decision making. Yeah, like Jen: This scenario. Yeah. Shaun: that. that one scenario. Jen: Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: So I think that that's why they pick them. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: I struggle with that because of the severity of Jen: Why? Okay. Shaun: the situation. Like at some point you have to think while while that's happening, although like even even if it is due to whatever situation that you might be going through, Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: it seems like at some point you have to snap and like wake up. And maybe that's not true. Maybe that's not how it works. I don't know because I'm not a mental health expert. Jen: But also why do you f so do you think the Lindsay Clancy is just more the everybody should be picking that because you think she's guilty? Because Shaun: No. I don't I don't think that it's no. No, and absolutely. Jen: Innocent until proven guilty, Shaun. Like you're you are the Barry: And that's what they say. Shaun: So I absolutely well let's talk about that then. I I absolutely believe that you are innocent until Jen: Yeah. Shaun: proven guilty. The problem here is that it's never been a question of if she's guilty Barry: That's not how that works. Jen: No, yeah. Shaun: or not. She like they've never argued that she didn't do it. She did it. Like they, yeah, they have all they said that she did it. Barry: She admitted to it. She is guilty of the murder Jen: Yeah. Barry: of her children should they're talking about accountability who should be accountable. That's what the case Shaun: Yes. Barry: is. She's admitted to it. Shaun: With Sydney Sweeney, she does something that tens of millions of other women that other women do. She just does it in a more marketable way. So how can you say that this Jen: Hm. Shaun: one person, she did an ad for a company that she owns where she's naked with footballs in front of her breasts? Barry: She's a part of, yeah, she's ownership. Shaun: That's that's something that women do all across the world. She just does it in a way because she has a name for it. How is that more damaging than seeing this high profile case that now has had additional copycats, let's say, that has followed it and done very similar types of situations? I struggle with that. Jen: Like people other women killed their kids and claimed insanity? I Shaun: Yes. Jen: wow, I didn't I haven't heard any of any of that. Shaun: There's been a few of them that have happened since then. Barry: I mean, that's happened throughout history already. This is just probably the most recent one that's Jen: I mean yeah it's Shaun: It's just easier access, like everything else in the world of social media. It's just easier access to it. Barry: I do struggle with this one. As we said, she's admitted to it. There has to be some level of accountability to her, the doctor, and the husband. Jen: But even with she's admitted to it as she was laying in a hospital bed drugged up. So like that would take us a whole nother episode to go through. I think. But you're a hundred percent. You're you're a hundred percent correct. That was never the defense. He was Shaun: that was that was never the defense. That was never the defense of her attorney or anything. Yeah. Jen: trying to prove that she was not guilty on reasons of insanity. You're a hundred percent correct. That was always the argument. so that is something that you have to go with. Barry: No, I think all three people should be held accountable. don't think that Shaun: Exactly. Barry: that's gonna happen, because that's not what the case is being presented as. But Jen: Yeah, no. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: all three of them made mistakes along the way, and they all resulted. As we just said, they all made choices. Was she Shaun: Her, her husband, and the doctor. Jen: Hundred percent. In the mm-hmm. Barry: necessarily in her right mind? I don't know. Jen: Yeah. Barry: There are things that I've read or heard Jen: Hundred percent. Barry: that would suggest she had somewhere with on some of the things and the choice she made. But again, to Jen's point, I'm not a woman. I've never had postpartum. I've never gone to those types of no, I haven't. So I can't speak to that. Shaun: Never dealt with it. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. And it is. It's one of those very taboo topics that don't like you can't understand it until you go through it or till you truly under s like you study it and you see it and you know that kind of stuff. So it's already a very nuanced thing. Barry: No, I agree. Yes. Yeah. But even me reading up on it, I'm Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: just going to go off of every other perspective that I can read. I'm never going to know what that feels like. I'm not. But again, to Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Hundred percent. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: my point with the whole thing that I said earlier, I still struggle to not think that they all should be held accountable because they Jen: Held accountable. Mm-hmm. Barry: all made choices as adults that Jen: Yeah. Barry: led to the outcome of what happened. Jen: Yeah, a hundred percent. Barry: So they all should be held accountable. The husband, Jen: Yeah. Barry: he did things. He left her alone. When the doctor said, you should not leave her alone, don't. That's a choice. So that there, you made a choice. You made the wrong choice. You should be held accountable for that choice. The doctor, if he was giving Shaun: Mm-hmm. Knowing that he shouldn't. Yeah. Yes. Exactly, yes. Jen: Mm-hmm. Don't do that. Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's still endangerment. So like why are we not holding then accountable? Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Hundred percent. Barry: her stuff that she shouldn't have been taking, that was his, he should deal with that. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Shaun: Yes. Barry: But I just, the sensationalization of it is very hard to like. Jen: It is. It's mm. Barry: the martyr that she's becoming. just, Shaun: Yes. Barry: I always find Jen: Yeah. Barry: it hard to get behind martyrs because... Shaun: Yes. Jen: Yes, I know I fully agree w with that. I don't think that it it needs to get to that point where people are like looking up to her or anything like that. Because like you said, no matter what, everybody played a piece of this game that led to children dying. So clearly you you were doing something incorrect and not keeping them safe. So no matter what, Barry: Three of them. Young kids. Yes. Not being healthy. Jen: like yeah, you might not have done it according to whatever, but Barry: No, you still played a part. Jen: You still played a part, 100%. But to go back to the Sydney Sweeney thing, I think you are correct, Shaun, that she has her own money, her own company. She can do what she wants, whatever. I think as a woman, it's hard to see other women play into a storyline, especially when I feel like women's sports has been gaining more traction. And we had a whole conversation about it. Like just across the board, women's sports is becoming bigger. People are getting behind it more. And there are a lot of women out there who struggle to be taken seriously and who are sexualized for running a race. And they can't run the race because it's gonna be, well, what was she wearing? well, what was she doing this? You know what I mean? Like they struggle to be taken seriously. So when you have something as controversial as someone who really isn't in the sports space at all coming into it and making a whole ad about sports as a woman very sexualized, which is what women fight tooth and nail all day long, especially in the sports space. And basically just using her platform to throw that out there. It's just kind of feels like a slap in the face to women, especially women in sports. Like yeah, maybe she has every prerogative to do that. There are women who are on social media and in doing the same exact thing, but that doesn't mean that they have the same platform that she does. That doesn't mean that they have the same reach that she does. And I think every woman, human really, but every woman especially has their own stake in the game. You know what I mean? When it comes to how women are treated in the world. And if you have a platform s as big as she does, and you go about taking and platforming your new business around women's sports, and that's the take that you want to play, it's It's it's hard to see, I think, for a lot of women. 'Cause again, it just feels like it's discrediting the intense training and all the things that they have to do to get a speckle of treated seriously in that space. Shaun: I can s I can see that and again, I'm not a woman, so I can't pretend that I I know what it's like to experience that from a woman's perspective or point of view. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Where where it's still a struggle for me is Jen: Mm. Shaun: it's it's almost like she's being punished because of who she is and the platform that she has, even though Jen: think so. I think it's the way that she chooses to use it. Shaun: But why is that any different than other people who do things like that? Is is it just because she has a larger reach? Jen: I think it's people are making more noise. So you think that those other people don't experience it, but I'm sure that they do as well. But their pool is a lot smarter. She's got a huge reach. She's got a huge audience. She put it out on a huge national worldwide stage. So there's a lot more noise, a lot more controversy coming around it. So it just seems like she's getting it, but I'm sure that happens for everyone that it that does the things that she does. Shaun: I struggle with that because OnlyFans. OnlyFans exists. Yeah. Barry: I don't know. I don't know if I would agree with that. OnlyFans makes a lot of money for a lot of people. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Like some of those people bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars a month Jen: a hundred percent. Shaun: from doing stuff like that. And you you hardly ever hear anything about that. Jen: But my th but my thought I think you're you're grouping two things that are not the same at all. Because I think OnlyFans is that is a space that that is built around. Like Shaun: But is that not still the sexualization of women? Jen: I don't know what I can say. A hundred percent. But there that's always going to be there. And the women that want to have that space, the same with like men that are on there too, if that's what you want to do for your thing, cool. Have at it. But she's using sexualization of women to promote some sort of sports. I don't even know what the thing was. Barry: Sports betting, I believe. Shaun: It's a sports betting app, yeah. Jen: Cool. So she's. connecting the sexuality of women in the sports world where women are already not taken seriously and saying the here you are. You know what I mean? Like the this is for sports. So why are you sexualizing it there? Barry: I don't think she's trying to attack women. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: This is OnlyFans, which is a completely separate thing that has nothing to do with sports. Barry: I think she's just playing to the audience that she knows is going to use her platform. Jen: She's playing to men. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Which is what that's been done for that's a tale as old as time. Which is why like why is this all of a sudden issue? Like it it think back to well, think back to like the bombshells of like Marilyn Monroe and people like that. People idolize her. Jen: Think it's all of a sudden an issue. I think it's always been an issue. Mm-hmm. I think that's such an ugly argument, though, because that's just Shaun: How? Jen: women trying to get ahead with the things and the tools that they have. So when people want to say, hey, like we're not gonna do that anymore, we've come so far, we don't have to show our bodies to be taken seriously, to be looked at at all. Like you can do other things. And you guys are like, Well, you've been doing it forever, so why not? Yeah, we've been doing it forever because men have placed that as the only real value of a woman is her body. Shaun: Okay, so let's let's talk specifically in the world of sports then. If if if Jen: Okay. Shaun: we want to nail it down specifically to the arena of sports and women being taken Jen: Okay. Shaun: seriously in sports, why do women tend to wear more revealing outfits in the sports scape than men do? Like if you look at like volleyball and things like that, they wear like super small shorts. Like if you look at basketball, super small shorts. Compared to what guys wear. Jen: I don't think that's accurate at all. Like at all. I think if you look at a woman runner versus a male runner, male runners be running around in speedos. Like that's just as tiny as the Shaun: Yes. Jen: small shorts that they are wearing when they're when the females are running. Like I think that's Shaun: Absolutely. Jen: very much a they wear what they wear because that's a uniform for the sport, because that's the what the best movement and things. Barry: But the men's and women's basketball uniforms are not the same. Shaun: They are not the same, even close to the same. If you look at the shorts on a woman's like basketball outfit, they're so much shorter than on a man's. Barry: way shorter. Yeah, very much. Jen: Okay, first of all, I don't know. I can say I've never looked at the women's basketball team and said, my god, those shorts are so short because they are not. They're still like basketball short sizes. Like they're normal basketball Shaun: They're not. Jen: shorts. You're wild for that. But also Barry: not compared to what a man will wear. No, he's being serious. I don't even know where he's going Shaun: They're really not. Barry: with this, but I'm just saying fractionally they are objectively, objectively. Shaun: I'm saying, like, if we want to stick to the world of sports, objectively speaking, that that's something that still happens. So why is it with her that it's such a big issue? Is it because she's not an athlete? Would it be different if she were an athlete and she did that Jen: Well one, yeah. Shaun: ad? But why? Barry: But why? Why would that change it? Jen: Again, it's because she's coming into a space that should have zero things to do with the sexuality of women in a as a non-athlete and saying, Hey, pay attention to these sports and these things because I'm naked. Barry: She doesn't care what sports you pay attention to. Jen: Exactly. Barry: She's running a sports betting. Jen: What are you talking about? These are normal Shaun: Business. Jen: basketball shorts. Like what are we talking about? Shaun: What are you what are you looking at? Yeah. Barry: Those are like from like the 90s it looks like. Jen: This is not Shaun: You're like looking at you're looking at like And One shorts or Barry: Right? Shaun: something like that. Jen: What do we I don't what do you mean? these are like normal basketball Barry: I don't. I can't Shaun: They Barry: really see what you're showing. I don't. Shaun: are definitely not. We're gonna have to we're gonna have to have you watch a game then, Jen, because they are very different. Jen: Who's a team? when is Caitlyn Clark on? The fever? Barry: Yes. Shaun: Indiana fever, yes. Jen: I'm looking at it right now. Shaun: And even even with Barry: I struggle to say that she's doing more damage to women. I would have to agree with Shaun. Shaun: Absolutely struggle to say that. It it just doesn't it almost seems like that accountability aspect of it is still not coming into play, even in that conversation. Like it just seems like there's still a disconnect that's happening. Jen: Like what is wrong with those are not short shorts. What are we talking about? Shaun: We're gonna have to have you watch a game. That's that's the only way that's the only way that I can have you Jen: I'm looking at their team picture right now. What do you mean? Shaun: understand. They're not the same. The inseam on a man's shorts are longer than a female's. Even like, and like I said, like basket basketball and like volleyball are the first ones to come to mind on it. I'm sure there are definitely more, but those are the first ones to come to mind. Jen: I strongly disagree. Shaun: That's fair. That's fair. I and to each their own. To each their own. But yeah, I don't know. I was just I just find that very interesting on just like how many people see it that way. There was even like this this couple where where where the the woman asked the girl and like they were they were going back and forth and the guy was in the back and his eyebrows were just like what? Yeah. Barry: His face was not doing him any favors. Shaun: I don't know. I'll have to find that, but yeah, it's just it could be. It could be another disconnect between that. Barry: Maybe it's just a man vs woman thing I guess. Speaking of... Jen: I think it just speaks to basically what we were talking about last time with the man in manor or bear. Like it's just n I don't know if men are ever gonna get it from a women's perspective. I don't think women are ever gonna get it from a men's perspective. Like Barry: think that's the way a lot of life is, Shaun: Yeah. 'Cause women definitely Jen: Yeah, but I think if we could Shaun: don't understand men's mental health either at all. But it it doesn't. It doesn't yeah, it doesn't make the news like women's does. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we won't do that. Barry: That's a whole nother episode. can't even go down that, but we can't go down that level. I got a whole bunch of thoughts on that. Jen: that can be next episode. Okay, so next episode, come back, episode nineteen, diving into men's mental health. Shaun: Men's mental health. I'll talk about it. Jen: I'd love to talk about it. Barry: No, I don't know if you would Jen. Shaun: man. Jen: Why? I think I'm very open I agree. I don't think it's talked about enough. I don't think it's understood Shaun: man. Jen: enough. I don't think that we put never mind. I'll save it. Shaun: I was like, you're about to open up again. We're not gonna do it. Make sure that you come back for episode 19 because we're gonna talk about that. Barry: If you open up their can of worms, it's gonna go everywhere. Jen: I I am And we are out of time. It'll be a good one. Shaun: man. But yes, thank you all so much. I know we went through kind of a roller coaster of emotion there. Jen: And we did. Shaun: Like we got really, really high and excited for a while. It got kind of low for a second. But hey, that is what this is all about. We are just some people Jen: Exactly. Shaun: trying to bring a little brightness to your day. if you agree or not. That is your choice to do whatever it is Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: that you choose to do.
