- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on the Voice of New York has the Mark
- 0:04Speaker 1: Simone Show on seven tenor well, hey, there's a lot happening.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We'll get to Cardinal Dolan is leaving. That's very bad news.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We'll get to Brown University that president should be leaving.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Just horrible job she's done. We'll get to President Trump.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We'll get to the speech last night, a bit of
- 0:27Speaker 1: a dud, but we'll get to something else he did
- 0:30Speaker 1: yesterday that is going to upset everybody. It's not the
- 0:34Speaker 1: right thing to do, you shouldn't do it, but it's
- 0:37Speaker 1: good that it just drives these democrats in the media
- 0:41Speaker 1: absolutely crazy. We'll get to that, We'll get to Nick Reiner,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and we'll get to Jack Smith and a whole lot more. Hey,
- 0:49Speaker 1: this just breaking this morning. The Oscars scene on ABC
- 0:53Speaker 1: TV for decades decades. Oscars Sunday Night, ABC, Oscars Channel seven,
- 1:00Speaker 1: ABC TV for decades and decades. And I think before that,
- 1:05Speaker 1: in its first few years, was NBC. I think I
- 1:07Speaker 1: think that's why Bob Hope was the host in Johnny Carson.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But it moved to ABC where it's been for decades. Well,
- 1:14Speaker 1: they lost the Oscars, They've got it for the next
- 1:16Speaker 1: two years, but then it moves to YouTube. YouTube got
- 1:25Speaker 1: the oscars. Now, YouTube is really taken over television. You know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: as a network, TV completely dies and has fewer and
- 1:34Speaker 1: fewer viewers every second. You think that Netflix and the
- 1:38Speaker 1: streaming services are taken over, but it's really YouTube that's
- 1:42Speaker 1: capturing the biggest share of the television audience. YouTube is
- 1:45Speaker 1: going to be the biggest thing. Now, this is a
- 1:47Speaker 1: big step getting the oscars. We always assumed Amazon or
- 1:52Speaker 1: Netflix would get the NFL or Major League base Keep
- 1:56Speaker 1: an eye on YouTube. Now, the Oscars on YouTube? Is
- 1:59Speaker 1: it a good idea? Well, one thing it's gonna do.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's gonna bring families together because when the Oscars are
- 2:07Speaker 1: on YouTube, you're gonna get those frantic calls. You're gonna
- 2:10Speaker 1: have to go to your mother's house. You're gonna have
- 2:11Speaker 1: to go to your grandmother's house and show them how
- 2:13Speaker 1: the hell to find YouTube. You know what, you might
- 2:17Speaker 1: as well plan on watching the oscars with them, because
- 2:21Speaker 1: no matter how much you show them, you're going to
- 2:24Speaker 1: get that call right before the oscars, I can't find it.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I lost it? How do you find it? So you're
- 2:29Speaker 1: gonna have to show them what the hell YouTube?
- 2:31Speaker 2: Is.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But it's a big, big development. So the Trump's speech
- 2:37Speaker 1: last night was not great. It was let me give
- 2:40Speaker 1: you the inside story here. This was not his idea.
- 2:43Speaker 1: He didn't want to do this. This was the staff
- 2:48Speaker 1: pushing it, mostly Susie Wiles pushing this. You know a
- 2:53Speaker 1: couple of reasons. One when fake news and the Democrats
- 2:56Speaker 1: start coming up with a with a hoax, with a
- 2:59Speaker 1: my and they start pounding it into people's heads. Twenty
- 3:03Speaker 1: four to seven. Everywhere you turn, it's all you hear
- 3:06Speaker 1: affordability crisis. Affordability crisis, affordability crisis. When you hear it
- 3:09Speaker 1: day and night, you actually, this is how propaganda works.
- 3:12Speaker 1: You actually start to think, oh my god, this is
- 3:14Speaker 1: an affordability crisis. There isn't We had one two years ago,
- 3:18Speaker 1: three years ago under Biden, you had a terrible crisis.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Prices were crazy, gas prices, everything was going nuts. Now
- 3:25Speaker 1: Trump has brought it down. He still got a ways
- 3:27Speaker 1: to go, but in his first year he brought it
- 3:30Speaker 1: down dramatically. Biden had inflation at nine percent one point
- 3:34Speaker 1: the highest in fifty years. When he left, his average
- 3:37Speaker 1: inflation was five percent. Trump has it down right now
- 3:41Speaker 1: to two point seven percent and falling. So that was
- 3:46Speaker 1: one reason for the speech, to try to fight back
- 3:48Speaker 1: on this myth that has been created. And then you
- 3:53Speaker 1: got a lot of great stuff that's going to happen
- 3:55Speaker 1: in the economy. The big beautiful bill has big tax
- 3:59Speaker 1: cuts for everybody, so your paycheck will be bigger every
- 4:02Speaker 1: week because you'll be paying less tax. Now it hasn't
- 4:05Speaker 1: kicked in yet, it starts in January, so everybody's going
- 4:08Speaker 1: to get a huge race starting in January. So he's
- 4:10Speaker 1: talking about how much you got done this year and
- 4:12Speaker 1: what's going to happen next year. But it wasn't a
- 4:15Speaker 1: great speech. It was a teleprompter speech. Trump is great
- 4:18Speaker 1: with an audience, you know, he knows how to perform
- 4:22Speaker 1: for an audience, but reading a teleprompter is not what
- 4:25Speaker 1: he should be doing. And in an empty room, he's
- 4:29Speaker 1: just in a big empty room. And it's that room
- 4:34Speaker 1: where you know. They've been doing Christmas parties every night
- 4:37Speaker 1: at the White House, sometimes two a night, sometimes three,
- 4:41Speaker 1: and they have so many people. They invite like twenty
- 4:43Speaker 1: five thousand people to these White House Christmas parties, so
- 4:46Speaker 1: you have to do them every night for three weeks.
- 4:49Speaker 1: In fact, there's another one tonight. They just keep doing
- 4:51Speaker 1: these Christmas parties, and it's the same procedure every night.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The guests all come whatever amount they can do a night,
- 4:57Speaker 1: five hundred, and they all walk around the Red room,
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Blue room, the Green room, the Yellow room, to
- 5:03Speaker 1: this room, to that room, the map room, the treating room,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and then they wander around and at some point they
- 5:08Speaker 1: come and assemble in this one spot where there's a podium.
- 5:11Speaker 1: The President comes down and makes a Christmas party speech.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And he's made this speech every night for three weeks,
- 5:18Speaker 1: the same speech, so you know, if you do it
- 5:21Speaker 1: too much, it gets stale. And it had that kind
- 5:24Speaker 1: of look last night. So basically the same situation, but
- 5:27Speaker 1: without an audience, just alone reading a teleprompter. So he
- 5:30Speaker 1: read it too loud, and he read it too fast,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and he kept talking like this, and it was too
- 5:34Speaker 1: fast and it was too loud. He was rushing through
- 5:36Speaker 1: it like this. I think that's because he didn't want
- 5:39Speaker 1: to do it. He was complaining off camera just before
- 5:42Speaker 1: he went on that Susie Wilds and everybody else pushed
- 5:44Speaker 1: him into doing this, so it's not what he wanted. Now,
- 5:47Speaker 1: the good news is because it was a well written speech.
- 5:51Speaker 1: A lot of people will just see it in print.
- 5:53Speaker 1: They'll read about it, and they'll see it in print.
- 5:55Speaker 1: In print, it looks great. But his delivery was like this,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and it was rushed and he was yelling, I'm just
- 6:00Speaker 1: trying to get through it, so it was a bit
- 6:02Speaker 1: of a dud. Here's someone.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Taris my favorite word, tariffs, which for many decades have
- 6:08Speaker 2: been used successfully by other countries against US, but not anymore.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Companies know that if they build in America, there are
- 6:16Speaker 2: no tariffs, and that's why they're coming home to the
- 6:19Speaker 2: USA in record numbers.
- 6:22Speaker 1: That it's a little too loud. You know, when you're
- 6:24Speaker 1: alone in a room, you don't talk like this. Hear
- 6:26Speaker 1: how I'm talking. I'm yelling a little. If I'm on TV,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I can talk like this because on TV people are
- 6:33Speaker 1: usually about twelve feet away from the TV set. They're
- 6:36Speaker 1: over there on the couch. You can talk to them
- 6:38Speaker 1: like this. But when you're on the radio, you're usually
- 6:42Speaker 1: talking out of the speaker, which is like a foot away,
- 6:46Speaker 1: so you can't yell at them. You got to talk
- 6:48Speaker 1: like this. So if there's an audience, you can talk
- 6:51Speaker 1: like this to them. But if you're in an empty
- 6:54Speaker 1: room and you're just alone, you can you can talk
- 6:57Speaker 1: more intimately to people. So and he knows this kind
- 7:00Speaker 1: of stuff. I don't know why he didn't do that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I guess because his heart wasn't in this speech. He
- 7:04Speaker 1: didn't want to do it. You know, when they do,
- 7:06Speaker 1: there reporters in the room and start asking the questions.
- 7:10Speaker 1: He doesn't talk like this to them. You know, he
- 7:12Speaker 1: talks in a real voice. So it was too much yelling.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Now he's going to get criticism for blaming everything on Biden.
- 7:18Speaker 2: This is what the Biden administration allowed to happen to
- 7:22Speaker 2: our country, and it can never be allowed to happen again.
- 7:27Speaker 2: We had men playing in women's sports, transgender for everybody,
- 7:31Speaker 2: crime at record levels.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Now everybody can So why does he keep playing Biden?
- 7:36Speaker 1: Why does he have to keep enough with Biden? Biden's
- 7:39Speaker 1: not president anymore. Why does he have to keep it?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Because again, Democrats, media, fake news, you're creating this whole
- 7:46Speaker 1: fake scenario that he's got an affordability crisis. It was
- 7:51Speaker 1: an enormous affordability crisis under Biden, and under him it's
- 7:54Speaker 1: been dropping steadily and quickly. You know, it got a
- 7:58Speaker 1: ways to go, but it's been dropped like crazy. So
- 8:01Speaker 1: that's why he keeps having a remind everybody because he's
- 8:03Speaker 1: trying to contradict a lie that's been out there day
- 8:06Speaker 1: and night for months. But somehow he's created an affordability cress.
- 8:11Speaker 1: It has nothing to do with it. In fact, he's
- 8:12Speaker 1: been lessening it every month. So now here's the other.
- 8:19Speaker 1: This is going to be another Trump problem, but maybe
- 8:24Speaker 1: it won't be. I don't know. This is so outrageous
- 8:29Speaker 1: that it might be too much even for fake news.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You know, when Rob Reiner died, he put out that
- 8:35Speaker 1: tweet which I went back and read it. It's not
- 8:38Speaker 1: as bad as they're making it out to be. The
- 8:40Speaker 1: tweet starts off very nice, talking about Rob Reiner and
- 8:44Speaker 1: Michelle Reiner and what a terrible tragedy this is and
- 8:47Speaker 1: how awful, and he talks about that, and then if
- 8:50Speaker 1: you'll go to the very end, he said, may they
- 8:52Speaker 1: both rest in peace. So that's very nice. It's in
- 8:54Speaker 1: the middle where he says, you know, Rob Reiner was
- 8:57Speaker 1: a guy filled with rage and hate speech, which is true.
- 9:00Speaker 1: True he was. He was, go check my twitter. We
- 9:02Speaker 1: have documented all of this, the stuff Rob Briiner was saying,
- 9:07Speaker 1: putting up online. It was just the ugliest, vile, crude
- 9:12Speaker 1: hate speech against Donald Trump, raging. You know, And again
- 9:15Speaker 1: I knew Rob Briner when you were with him. He
- 9:18Speaker 1: was the warmest, sweetest, nicest guy. So when you read
- 9:22Speaker 1: his tweeting and his things he was saying about Trump,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you can't believe this same guy could get so ugly
- 9:29Speaker 1: and vile and crude and cursing. And it's just very
- 9:34Speaker 1: jeckyl in heights. It makes you wonder. So that upset
- 9:37Speaker 1: a lot of people. Of course, you know, people said, well,
- 9:39Speaker 1: you shouldn't do that. You're the president. You have to
- 9:40Speaker 1: stay you know, graceful and dignified. And yeah, of course, okay,
- 9:47Speaker 1: so now they have When you walk to the Oval Office,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you walk along the colonnade there along that wall where
- 9:53Speaker 1: he's put up all the portraits of the presidents, used
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be just an empty white wall. And when you
- 9:59Speaker 1: think about it, but he's right, that's where you greet
- 10:01Speaker 1: the world leaders in one part of the White House.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Then you go outside and you walk down this a
- 10:05Speaker 1: long colonnade to get to the Oval Office, and it's
- 10:09Speaker 1: just empty wall. You see. He just said, let's line
- 10:12Speaker 1: this with pictures of all our presidents in beautiful gold frames.
- 10:15Speaker 1: It was very very nice, great idea. And now when
- 10:20Speaker 1: it came to Biden, he put instead of Biden's face,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he put an auto pen in there. All right, it's
- 10:25Speaker 1: a little joke. You shouldn't do that, but you can
- 10:29Speaker 1: get away with it. All right, it's not you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: it's not that bad. But now he unveiled this yesterday,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and again they're all gonna go nuts over this. They're
- 10:39Speaker 1: all gonna go crazy. Although it hasn't exploded like I
- 10:43Speaker 1: think it would. He now put it, unveiled it yesterday.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Under many of these presidents he put plaques underneath saying things,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and they're very very insulting. So under Biden, and it's
- 10:55Speaker 1: a beautiful, you know, gold, very very ornate plaque like
- 10:58Speaker 1: you'd see on a building with the inscription on it.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But the oneher Biden says, sleepy Joe. Biden was by
- 11:04Speaker 1: far the worst president in America. And it goes on
- 11:08Speaker 1: and on to talk about what a crook he is,
- 11:10Speaker 1: how he opened the borders let twenty one million people
- 11:13Speaker 1: in his Afghanistan disaster. I mean, it's the worst stuff
- 11:16Speaker 1: about Biden. It's a long, but I'm skipping through the
- 11:19Speaker 1: nickname both sleepy and crooked Joe Joe Biden was dominated
- 11:25Speaker 1: by his radical left handler. It goes on and on,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and you could write this, and you're not supposed to
- 11:30Speaker 1: put it on the wall of the White House in
- 11:32Speaker 1: a gold plaque. So now, of course any other president
- 11:36Speaker 1: when they come in will take this down. Under Bill Clinton,
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's not as bad yet. No, it's mostly good about
- 11:47Speaker 1: he approved NAFTA. It's mostly good about Clinton. But at
- 11:49Speaker 1: the end it said President Clinton's wife Hillary lost the
- 11:53Speaker 1: presidency to Donald Trump. Now the one for Obama, the
- 11:59Speaker 1: Reagan one is just high praise for Reagan, wonderful praise
- 12:02Speaker 1: for Reagan. The one under Obama was the first black president,
- 12:07Speaker 1: a community organizer, a one term senator from Illinois. Okay,
- 12:11Speaker 1: you can get away with that. He created the ineffective
- 12:14Speaker 1: Unaffordable Care Act. Well, that's true, but you're not supposed
- 12:16Speaker 1: to put that on the wall. His party losing both
- 12:21Speaker 1: Houses of Congress. Under Obama, it gets worse and worse.
- 12:26Speaker 1: He crippled small business with crushing regulations and an environmental
- 12:30Speaker 1: red tape. Well, this is actually true. You could make
- 12:32Speaker 1: this case. He spied on the twenty sixteen presidential campaign
- 12:37Speaker 1: of Donald Trump. It's all. You could go into court
- 12:41Speaker 1: and prove this stuff true if you had to, but
- 12:45Speaker 1: you're not supposed to put it on the wall of
- 12:47Speaker 1: the White House. So but again, it hasn't exploded yet
- 12:51Speaker 1: all over the news. But we'll see, we'll see if
- 12:54Speaker 1: they demand he'd take it down. Maybe it's so over
- 12:56Speaker 1: the top outrageous that they're afraid to go after for it.
- 13:00Speaker 1: They know it's some kind of trap. I mean, it's
- 13:02Speaker 1: I mean, Howard Stern wouldn't have the nerve to put
- 13:04Speaker 1: this stuff on the wall. So hey, the very bad news.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Cardinal Dolan is leaving Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who everybody loved
- 13:11Speaker 1: sixteen years here as the cardinal. It's nothing personal. The
- 13:19Speaker 1: rule of the church is at seventy five you have
- 13:22Speaker 1: to resign. You have to resign at seventy five. It's mandatory,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and you put in your resignation. Now. For Cardinal Dolan,
- 13:28Speaker 1: that was last year. But sometimes they'll delay accepting the resignation.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And remember last year the pope died, so that, you know,
- 13:38Speaker 1: put a holt on everything. Nothing happened, and then a
- 13:42Speaker 1: new pope took over and he obviously needs many months
- 13:45Speaker 1: to get settled and organized, so he's done that. Now
- 13:48Speaker 1: he's decided to accept the resignation and pick a new
- 13:52Speaker 1: cardinal for New York. And it's Ronald Hicks, who's from Chicago,
- 13:57Speaker 1: has a lot of connection to the pope who's also
- 14:01Speaker 1: from Chicago. Their careers overlapped a few times. Hicks, He's not,
- 14:05Speaker 1: you know, Dolan is a big, larger than life, big
- 14:08Speaker 1: life of the party personality. Hicks is more of a quiet,
- 14:11Speaker 1: gentle sort of a guy. But he's a warm guy.
- 14:15Speaker 1: He's got a good sense of humor.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Here he is accepting I want to do the will
- 14:20Speaker 3: of God. I asked him to tell the Holy Father
- 14:24Speaker 3: that I say yes with great humility and that I
- 14:29Speaker 3: accept this appointment with an open heart.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So he's here in New York today with the cardinal
- 14:35Speaker 1: being shown around.
- 14:36Speaker 3: And my name is Ron Hicks, and I have now.
- 14:42Speaker 1: First of all, he's got to call himself Ronald, this
- 14:46Speaker 1: Ron Hicks. It doesn't sound like a cardinal when your
- 14:49Speaker 1: name is Ron Hicks. Sounds like you work at William
- 14:51Speaker 1: Morris Agency. Sounds like you're a car salesman. Here's my
- 14:55Speaker 1: card Ron Hicks doesn't sound like a Cardinalnald Hicks will
- 15:00Speaker 1: sound better, make more sense.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Did New York about ten times in my life, and
- 15:07Speaker 3: every time I have visited, I have said to myself,
- 15:11Speaker 3: I love it. I love the culture, the food, the energy,
- 15:17Speaker 3: the plays, the neighborhoods, but especially I love the people.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Okay, okay, sounding like a bit of a tourist, but listen,
- 15:26Speaker 1: that's all the cardinals. Do you remember Dolan you think
- 15:29Speaker 1: of him as such a New Yorker. I remember when
- 15:30Speaker 1: he came here sixteen years ago from I think it
- 15:32Speaker 1: was Saint Louis. Saint Louis. He was the same thing.
- 15:36Speaker 1: He was new to New York, he didn't know his
- 15:38Speaker 1: way around, and of course he became a big, big,
- 15:40Speaker 1: big part of New York. So Ronald Hicks, Wilton.
- 15:43Speaker 3: The people from all over the world who call this
- 15:47Speaker 3: place home. And every time that I visited, I've always said,
- 15:52Speaker 3: I look forward to returning. And this time I'm returning
- 15:57Speaker 3: not only as a visitor, but I'm going to be
- 16:00Speaker 3: returning to stay.
- 16:03Speaker 1: So all right, now, he'll be good. He'll be good.
- 16:07Speaker 1: One of the reasons Dolan stayed a little longer than
- 16:10Speaker 1: he is supposed to. Catholic church with the you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: the sexual abuse and scandal and all that, they had
- 16:17Speaker 1: to clean that up. There was nothing to do with Dolan,
- 16:19Speaker 1: wasn't his fault, but you had to clean it up.
- 16:21Speaker 1: He's the one that worked out at like a billion
- 16:23Speaker 1: dollar settlement, and they had to settle all these lawsuits
- 16:27Speaker 1: and raise the money to settle it. And that's what
- 16:29Speaker 1: he's been doing for the last year. It's mostly done now,
- 16:32Speaker 1: he'll notice very quietly, the Catholic Church here in New
- 16:35Speaker 1: York has been selling a lot of it's very valuable
- 16:37Speaker 1: real estate. Just this week they finally sold over there
- 16:43Speaker 1: at the Palace Hotel. They hon the whole ground lease.
- 16:46Speaker 1: They just sold that for about four hundred and ninety
- 16:48Speaker 1: million dollars. So they've raised all the money that's been settled.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And Ronald Hicks, he made that joke. Every new cardinal
- 16:57Speaker 1: makes the same joke. I already made that joke this morning,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and he's going to speech and he says, but I
- 17:01Speaker 1: do have something very controversial to say. I'm still a
- 17:07Speaker 1: Cubs fan. So Dolan did that when he came here too.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I'm still a Cardinals fan. But now the only if
- 17:14Speaker 1: there's a bad side to the Hicks can be a
- 17:18Speaker 1: little left wing, a little woke, but all right, that
- 17:21Speaker 1: can be cured. But we wish him very well and
- 17:25Speaker 1: we got a lot to get to today. We'll take
- 17:27Speaker 1: some calls next. Eight hundred three two one zero seven
- 17:30Speaker 1: ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 17:34Speaker 1: seven ten
