- 0:08Speaker 1: Terrible advice. It's hello, Hello, Hello, welcome to the Naughty
- 0:15Speaker 1: but Nice Show. I'm your host, Rob Shooter, and it's
- 0:17Speaker 1: a brand new year. We're on a season three officially
- 0:22Speaker 1: of The Naughty but Nice Show. Thank you so much, everybody.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm very aware that the only reason we can do
- 0:28Speaker 1: this show, that we can continue to do this show
- 0:30Speaker 1: is because of all your naughties who listen to it.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So thank you, thank you, thank you. We are going
- 0:36Speaker 1: to have a glorious twenty twenty three. Let's jump into
- 0:41Speaker 1: the show. What time is it, my friends, It is
- 0:44Speaker 1: tea time. It's Barbara Walters passed way over the weekend,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and the tributes are pouring in, including a really touching
- 0:53Speaker 1: one from Oprah Winfrey, who said she was grateful to
- 0:57Speaker 1: have known her. Oprah Pender really touching, touching tribute. Shortly
- 1:03Speaker 1: after it was announced that Barbara had passed away, she said, quote,
- 1:06Speaker 1: Without Barbara Walters, there wouldn't have been me, nor any
- 1:11Speaker 1: other woman that you see on evening morning and daily news.
- 1:16Speaker 1: She was a trail blazer and I did my very
- 1:20Speaker 1: first television audition with her in mind the entire time.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oprah concluded, saying she was grateful for having the chance
- 1:29Speaker 1: the opportunity to get to know Barbara Walters over the years.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Very touching on a personal personal note here, I want
- 1:40Speaker 1: to point out that Barbara hired me. She hired me
- 1:43Speaker 1: in two thousand and one to launch her new talk
- 1:46Speaker 1: show e yarn Ler. Yarnler had actually left Oprah Winfrey
- 1:51Speaker 1: and come to Barbara Walters to debut her own show.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I spent hours and hours with Barbara on set, in
- 1:58Speaker 1: meetings in the control room. Amount it was glorious. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: learned an enormous amount from her. You can't underestimate what
- 2:05Speaker 1: a legend this woman was and ease and how much
- 2:10Speaker 1: she broke down barriers as the first woman ever, the
- 2:14Speaker 1: first female ever to co host the Today Show, She
- 2:19Speaker 1: was also to the first female anchor of any networks
- 2:23Speaker 1: evening news program A little history. Barbara started at NBC
- 2:29Speaker 1: in nine as one of the token women writers, is
- 2:34Speaker 1: what she said. Eventually, after many years of being on
- 2:39Speaker 1: the show, she finally became the co host, and Barbara
- 2:42Speaker 1: said that was one of the most proudest things in
- 2:45Speaker 1: her life. Following that, the women that co host the
- 2:50Speaker 1: morning shows all were official co hosts before Barbara. They
- 2:54Speaker 1: didn't ever get that title. She left NBC for ABC
- 2:59Speaker 1: in nine in seventy nine to co anchor the Evening News.
- 3:04Speaker 1: This had never been done before. She was known at
- 3:07Speaker 1: the time in the industry as the million dollar Baby
- 3:10Speaker 1: because she was getting a million dollars a year for
- 3:13Speaker 1: five years. That made her the highest paid news anchor
- 3:18Speaker 1: male or female on TV, and it signaled something new,
- 3:23Speaker 1: a shift in the culture. Unfortunately, that experiment didn't last.
- 3:27Speaker 1: This is part of the story that people forget. She
- 3:30Speaker 1: was the co host of the Evening News, but the
- 3:32Speaker 1: public didn't tune an inn and Brobo said. What saved
- 3:36Speaker 1: her were her Barbara Walter specials. They made her into
- 3:40Speaker 1: a star. The specials started in nineteen seventy six. They
- 3:45Speaker 1: made her famous, almost as famous as the people that
- 3:48Speaker 1: she was interviewing. She spent fifty years, fifty years in
- 3:52Speaker 1: front of the camera asking questions that nobody else would ask.
- 3:58Speaker 1: She coaxed King's presidents and stars to answer intimate questions.
- 4:04Speaker 1: She's famous for asking Jimmy Carter if he and his
- 4:07Speaker 1: wife slept in separate beds. They did not. She also
- 4:11Speaker 1: asked the Prime Minister of India if it was true
- 4:15Speaker 1: that he drank his own urine. It was true, and
- 4:18Speaker 1: most famously, she asked Monica Lewinski in front of an
- 4:22Speaker 1: audience of fifty million, five zero million, why she kept
- 4:27Speaker 1: the stained blue dress and how she had the hutspur
- 4:31Speaker 1: to show her thonged to the President of the United States. Now,
- 4:35Speaker 1: some of Barbara's critics said that she blurred the lines
- 4:38Speaker 1: between news and entertainment. Others raised their eyebrows over her
- 4:43Speaker 1: courting high society and her well placed friends. She was ambitious,
- 4:48Speaker 1: she was smart. This is somebody who didn't really know
- 4:52Speaker 1: how to have it all. There's talks about how she
- 4:55Speaker 1: struggled balancing both her professional life and her private life.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I thought this was fascinating. Though Barbara did have some regrets.
- 5:05Speaker 1: She did have some regrets. One of her regrets was
- 5:07Speaker 1: an undotten interview with Jacqueline Kennedy, who she knew and
- 5:11Speaker 1: also to she desperately wanted the first Princess Diana interviewer
- 5:15Speaker 1: after she separated from Prince Charles. That went to Martin
- 5:18Speaker 1: Bashier and we all know how shady that turned out.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And then she also said she regretted pressing Ricky Martin
- 5:26Speaker 1: As to say he was gay. He evaded the question
- 5:29Speaker 1: and didn't come out until ten years later. She was
- 5:32Speaker 1: a perfectionist and a warrior, and she did her own research.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I would watch her write questions on index cards. Arguably
- 5:41Speaker 1: one of the best editors too. And I love this
- 5:43Speaker 1: little little bit of insider information about Barbara. She loved gossip.
- 5:47Speaker 1: She loved celebrity gossip. She used to tell me who
- 5:50Speaker 1: ever wrote the gossip at the newspaper was the boss
- 5:54Speaker 1: of the paper. Barbara Walter's rest in peace. Rest in
- 6:00Speaker 1: is She ended her autobiography, which I'm rereading, on a
- 6:04Speaker 1: really reflected note, saying, in the age of internet news,
- 6:08Speaker 1: cell phones and blog journalism, it would be difficult for anyone,
- 6:12Speaker 1: any for anyone journalist to have the career that she did.
- 6:17Speaker 1: That is very true. The world has changed, Barbara Walters,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and I would argue one of the biggest reasons that
- 6:23Speaker 1: world has changed is because of you, which brings us
- 6:27Speaker 1: to our whole question of the day. Without Barbara Walters,
- 6:31Speaker 1: there wouldn't have been a Katie Oprah, Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Do you think they'll ever be another Barbara Walters? Hey?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Go vote on at Twitter page at Naughty Nice Robera
- 6:45Speaker 1: at Facebook page Naughty goes in mis Sure to check
- 6:48Speaker 1: back tomorrow to hear your results. Moving along, Cathy Griffin
- 6:52Speaker 1: is slamming Andy Cohen again, five years after he replaced
- 6:56Speaker 1: her on CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast. Cathy's not holding back.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It feels like she's done this for the last five years.
- 7:03Speaker 1: She's slamming Andy Cohen again. She says. Every year around
- 7:07Speaker 1: this time, somebody sends her the following clip. It's Andy
- 7:10Speaker 1: Coyen on TMC and he's asked about replacing Kathy Griffin
- 7:15Speaker 1: and he said, who, I don't know her now? Cathy said,
- 7:19Speaker 1: this guy was my boss for years deciding whether or
- 7:23Speaker 1: not I worked at Bravo. Can you imagine your ex
- 7:27Speaker 1: boss on TMZ like this? Ouch anyway, I can't wait
- 7:31Speaker 1: to watch Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton they were on
- 7:35Speaker 1: a different network. She also put the hashtag missudgen this
- 7:39Speaker 1: now we noticed that Andy and Anderson were not drinking.
- 7:43Speaker 1: They were not drinking this year. Some people are not
- 7:45Speaker 1: as into it without the alcohol. What did you think?
- 7:48Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not even sure it's the alcohol.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I think the charm of it has passed all good
- 7:53Speaker 1: things coming to an end. It was fun for a
- 7:55Speaker 1: lot of years. For many years I watched the two
- 7:57Speaker 1: of them. I thought they were just adorable together. I
- 7:59Speaker 1: think I've moved on. I ended up going out for
- 8:01Speaker 1: dinner on New Year's Even. Guess this, you believe it.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I sat at the table next to Alec Baldwin and
- 8:07Speaker 1: Hilaria Hillary. I know, I hope she doesn't listen to
- 8:10Speaker 1: the podcast to Lower Lower Lower, And they had one
- 8:13Speaker 1: of their daughters with them, which I thought was strange
- 8:15Speaker 1: because they have seven kids. So who were the six
- 8:17Speaker 1: they left home? And why I picked this one none
- 8:19Speaker 1: of my business. But that's how I spent my New Year.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Did you see Don Lemon? Oh? Don? He was not drinking.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It's a new rule at scene and you can't drink.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think it's a good rule. But he missed the
- 8:30Speaker 1: countdown in the Central time zone, so he was busy
- 8:35Speaker 1: dancing to quote back that as up, and he missed
- 8:40Speaker 1: the time change in this central time zone. He was
- 8:46Speaker 1: throwing beads and sort of mumbling something after midnight. Oh see,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and get it together. So get this. This is gonna
- 8:55Speaker 1: be huge news. We are only days away from Harry
- 9:00Speaker 1: his book coming out. It's called Spare, and insiders are
- 9:03Speaker 1: saying that the Royal family are not terrified, but rather
- 9:07Speaker 1: are weary about the release of the book. So it's
- 9:12Speaker 1: goes written by a veteran biographer. We know it's about
- 9:15Speaker 1: four hundred pages long, and we also know he's going
- 9:18Speaker 1: to do two interviews to promote it, one with the
- 9:21Speaker 1: I t V, a British channel, and another on January
- 9:25Speaker 1: eight with Anderson Cooper. Hello Anderson, Hello, Hello, Hello. So
- 9:29Speaker 1: the Royal family there now, I'm told used to these
- 9:33Speaker 1: common themes and they are bracing themselves for a punch,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but they're not that worried about it, so they say
- 9:40Speaker 1: at this point, there's not much more he can say.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's believed that he talks a lot in the book
- 9:46Speaker 1: about his mother's death. Obviously that changed his life, lots
- 9:50Speaker 1: of trauma there, and he doesn't go after Charles as
- 9:53Speaker 1: much as people thought he would. In fact, insiders are
- 9:55Speaker 1: telling me that the two royals he goes after in
- 9:58Speaker 1: the book are he brother William and Kate. I know
- 10:02Speaker 1: that's unfortunate, isn't it. Now Some people are saying that
- 10:05Speaker 1: after this book comes out, it's over between him and
- 10:08Speaker 1: William they will never ever be friends again. And there's
- 10:12Speaker 1: a new poll out in Britain saying that the majority
- 10:15Speaker 1: of people think he should be stripped of his titles.
- 10:18Speaker 1: My insiders say that is very unlikely to happen because
- 10:21Speaker 1: if Charles and William stripped them of their titles, they
- 10:25Speaker 1: will look petty and they don't want to do that.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So everything that Harry and Megan are accusing them of doing,
- 10:33Speaker 1: of being, they will confirm if they remove the titles.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So I think they're going to keep those titles. But
- 10:39Speaker 1: goodness knows, this relationship is over. Talking about relationships, yes, say,
- 10:45Speaker 1: we spotted making out in Miami like teenagers. Good Morning
- 10:49Speaker 1: America three t J. Holmes and Amy Roback. So this relationship,
- 10:54Speaker 1: it keeps heating up. The two of them were spotted
- 10:56Speaker 1: in Miami last week and they just couldn't keep their
- 11:00Speaker 1: hands off each other. They were spotted passionately making out.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I know his arms are around her ways, he pulled
- 11:09Speaker 1: her in for a kiss, and all of this was
- 11:12Speaker 1: captured by photographers. Some people think these two are setting
- 11:15Speaker 1: up these romantic photo shoots. I'm not sure if they're
- 11:18Speaker 1: doing that, but I do know they're not hiding this
- 11:21Speaker 1: an insider at ABC said, they've got to be careful though,
- 11:23Speaker 1: because they're still suspended. There is an investigation going on
- 11:27Speaker 1: into their behavior, and this feels like they're rubbing the
- 11:30Speaker 1: boss's nose in it. Maybe lay low a little bit,
- 11:34Speaker 1: Amy t J. If you're listening, La La Low, you
- 11:38Speaker 1: can have love. I love love, but it does feel
- 11:42Speaker 1: a little bit like you are rubbing the faces of
- 11:47Speaker 1: ABC into this romance. Lay low for a bit after
- 11:51Speaker 1: you get back on air, after the suspension is lifted.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Then start popping up around town kissing. I think, I
- 11:58Speaker 1: think this is good advice, and then weickly before we
- 12:00Speaker 1: get a break. Tom Brady shared some adorable pictures of
- 12:03Speaker 1: him and his son after Christmas Day, celebrating together us.
- 12:07Speaker 1: If you remember the children, Vivian and Benjamin, they spent
- 12:10Speaker 1: their first holiday since their parents split up with their mom, Giselle,
- 12:14Speaker 1: in Brazil. We had photographs of her and the kids.
- 12:18Speaker 1: They were partaken in horseback riding, biking, fishing, even singing
- 12:22Speaker 1: krry Okay, well, now the kids are with Tom. On
- 12:25Speaker 1: Christmas Day, he had to play a game in a
- 12:27Speaker 1: football game, so now he is with them. He shared
- 12:30Speaker 1: a lovely picture ben sitting on his dad's lap with
- 12:34Speaker 1: his legs stretched out. Another picture where he's given his
- 12:38Speaker 1: boy a sweet kiss. I love how affectionate Tom and
- 12:42Speaker 1: his children are. Years ago, he got criticized for kissing
- 12:46Speaker 1: one of his children, remember that scandal. My inside is Tommy.
- 12:50Speaker 1: This is who he is. He's really affectionate, He's really passionate.
- 12:53Speaker 1: He loves his kids, he misses them, and I think
- 12:56Speaker 1: it's a good thing to have out there. Men dan's
- 13:00Speaker 1: who are affectionate and post pictures out, particularly sports heroes,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think they can do a lot of good. Often
- 13:08Speaker 1: these sports heroes are thought of as match show, as
- 13:12Speaker 1: masculine men who don't show their emotions. Tom Brady is
- 13:16Speaker 1: the opposite of that. So if you're angry with him
- 13:19Speaker 1: at the moment because of the breakup, I get it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: But these pictures are really sweet, and I think Tom
- 13:24Speaker 1: is showing all dad's out there. You can be affectionate,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you can kiss, you can hug, you can share it
- 13:31Speaker 1: on social media. I just love it. Hey, we're going
- 13:36Speaker 1: to take a quick break and we will be right back.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Naughty but Nice Show. I'm Rob Shooter.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Garrett is off today. He'll be back next week. But
- 13:46Speaker 1: don't worry. We've got so much more gossip to get to.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Let's get to the poles that the door, Thank you
- 13:53Speaker 1: very much. Last show, Kim Kardashian was slammed for deleting
- 13:57Speaker 1: a video of her dogs appearing to live in the garage.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Do you think Kim's dogs live in the garage? Let's
- 14:03Speaker 1: have a look the video that was deleted, and we
- 14:07Speaker 1: know on the internet, nothing ever really gets deleted. It
- 14:11Speaker 1: does appear as if the dogs live in the garage. However,
- 14:14Speaker 1: my sources tell me that is not true. They live
- 14:17Speaker 1: in the house with the family. They also too, you
- 14:20Speaker 1: have some pens and crates in the garage, But don't worry.
- 14:23Speaker 1: These dogs have an amazing life. Don't forget to vote
- 14:30Speaker 1: on today's poll. Will we ever have another Barbara Walters?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Will we ever have another Barbara Walters? Go vert on
- 14:38Speaker 1: our Twitter page at Naughty Nice rob at Facebook page
- 14:41Speaker 1: Naughty Gossip, and be sure to check back tomorrow to
- 14:45Speaker 1: hear your results. How lucky am I to say that
- 14:49Speaker 1: I got to work with Barbara Walters? I know to
- 14:53Speaker 1: be hired by Barbara Walters, and I should have hired her.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I should have been paying her, not the other way around.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I learned so much h about television. The reason, one
- 15:01Speaker 1: of the reasons she was so brilliant on TV is
- 15:04Speaker 1: she thought like a producer. She knew every story had
- 15:07Speaker 1: to have a beginning, middle, and end. I swear she's
- 15:12Speaker 1: the one that came up with the questions for the
- 15:14Speaker 1: interviews before she interviewed anybody. She did the work. We
- 15:18Speaker 1: talked about that a lot on this show, don't we
- 15:21Speaker 1: these really successful people who make everything look so effortless
- 15:25Speaker 1: Behind the scenes, they are working for hours. Barbara would
- 15:30Speaker 1: research and research celebrities, should research questions, should really want
- 15:35Speaker 1: to dig down. She knew all the ladies gossip, so
- 15:38Speaker 1: she just was tapped in, plugged in to pop culture,
- 15:42Speaker 1: and that made her such a rating success. Hey, Barbara,
- 15:46Speaker 1: if you're listening, a lower, lower, lower, and rest in peace.
- 15:50Speaker 1: She's not going to be resting. She's going to be
- 15:52Speaker 1: up there working, isn't she. She'll be interviewing Jesus right now.
- 15:56Speaker 1: She'll be interviewing all the historical figures. Maybe she finally
- 16:00Speaker 1: to interview Princess Diana in heaven. Hey, let's do the
- 16:04Speaker 1: nicest of the dak Kim Kardashian is revealing that she's
- 16:09Speaker 1: gonna let loose a little bit now she's in her forties,
- 16:12Speaker 1: so she really was quite uptight. She never consumed drinks,
- 16:17Speaker 1: but now she's telling Gwyneth Paltrow that now she's forty two,
- 16:21Speaker 1: she's gonna say she's gonna drink a little bit. She's
- 16:23Speaker 1: gonna let herself drink a little bit, a bit of coffee,
- 16:25Speaker 1: a bit of alcohol. She said, she's gonna loosen up
- 16:28Speaker 1: a little bit. I like this. Kim revealed that she
- 16:31Speaker 1: wants to switch up her life a little bit because
- 16:33Speaker 1: all she seems to do is work, work, work, work, work.
- 16:36Speaker 1: She said, quote, I work a lot, and when she's
- 16:39Speaker 1: not with the kids, she's in meeting, she's testing things,
- 16:42Speaker 1: she's looking at packaging everything for her companies. And she
- 16:45Speaker 1: said she finally is learning to feel comfortable not doing anything.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That is a gift. A lot of us can't do that.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I couldn't do it for a long time. I felt
- 16:54Speaker 1: so lazy if I just sat and stopped. I'm learning
- 16:58Speaker 1: to do it. It's one of my New Year's resolutions.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Just stop, don't speed up, slowed down. Were allowed to
- 17:05Speaker 1: just stop, go and have a bath, go for a walk,
- 17:09Speaker 1: don't feel guilty. So Kim is learning how to do
- 17:12Speaker 1: that now. She did share that her drink of choices
- 17:14Speaker 1: to Guela, but she admits she doesn't really overdue. She
- 17:18Speaker 1: likes a shot with some pineapple, and she has about
- 17:21Speaker 1: two shots and then she said, that's it. That's been fun,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but no more for me. I like this. I like
- 17:27Speaker 1: him loosening up and nicest of the day, and now
- 17:30Speaker 1: I naughtiest the day. Naughty, naughty, naughty, naughty. Kate Middleton
- 17:34Speaker 1: was left in a flood of tears after Prince William
- 17:38Speaker 1: abruptly canceled their New Year's plans back in two thousand
- 17:43Speaker 1: and six. So Kate and William had been dating for
- 17:46Speaker 1: about four years in two thousand and six. That Christmas,
- 17:49Speaker 1: William had invited Kate to Sandrington, where the Royal family
- 17:53Speaker 1: typically spend their holidays, but she declined, saying she didn't
- 17:56Speaker 1: want to go unless she had a ring on her finger.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I like that, So he spent Christmas with his family.
- 18:02Speaker 1: She spent Christmas with her family, and they were meant
- 18:04Speaker 1: to meet up on New Year's Eve. They were both
- 18:07Speaker 1: just twenty four at the time. Suddenly, last minute William
- 18:10Speaker 1: cancels Katers in a flood of tears, fearing that the
- 18:15Speaker 1: future of this relationship is over. Shortly afterwards, they did
- 18:19Speaker 1: break up, but then they did get back together, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: obviously the rest is history. Maybe William is not quite
- 18:28Speaker 1: as nice as we all think. I hate it. I'm
- 18:31Speaker 1: not dating Kate Middleton, but I certainly wouldn't call her
- 18:35Speaker 1: on short notice. I wouldn't call anybody on short notice
- 18:38Speaker 1: and cancel plans, particularly for New Year's Eve, which can
- 18:41Speaker 1: be a very difficult time of your forul lots of people. William,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you're a naughtiest of the day, naughty, naughty, naughty. Helet's
- 18:49Speaker 1: end with a moment of rom you get a m
- 18:52Speaker 1: so for a minute over a moment where a little
- 18:55Speaker 1: bit more deep. I love this quote. It comes today
- 18:58Speaker 1: from Jim Carrey. Quote. Your need for acceptance can make
- 19:03Speaker 1: you invisible in this world, risk being seen in all
- 19:09Speaker 1: of your glory. Have you ever done that? Have you
- 19:13Speaker 1: ever needed wanted acceptance so much that you disappear? You
- 19:18Speaker 1: stop raising your hand, you stop asking questions, you stop talking,
- 19:22Speaker 1: You just disappear, frightened that you might say the wrong thing,
- 19:26Speaker 1: that people aren't going to accept. You that people don't
- 19:29Speaker 1: like the way you look, so you try to blend in.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Jimmy is saying that is a huge mistake in life.
- 19:34Speaker 1: We have to risk being seen in all our glory
- 19:39Speaker 1: A mentor that, and that's how we on The Naughty
- 19:42Speaker 1: but Nice Show are going to start our new year.
- 19:47Speaker 1: That's it for today. Thank you so much for listening
