- Brandon Dirmann: Well, welcome once again to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. My name is Brandon and I am so thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to share with you from the Word of God today. I don't know when you're listening to this. It's morning time when I'm recording this, and I'm holding in my hand Did you hear it? A really good cup of coffee. I hope today you got a really good cup of coffee. Maybe you don't drink coffee, maybe you got a really good tea, or a matcha. Shout out Trey Whitmer. or an energy drink, or maybe you're just doing what what what what whatever you drink in the morning. I hope you got a good one today. And ⁓ that you're ready to be encouraged from God's word. ⁓ we de every day are taking time here on the Daily Word podcast to spend just a little bit of time. Sharing with you from God's word, something that we got, something that we ⁓ caught. Number one, to encourage you with God's word, but number two to remind you that today God wants to speak to you in the secret place. And so make sure you spend time today with God in the secret place. That being said, today's reading, ⁓ the New Testament portion of the life journal reading. It is Ephesians chapter four. And I want to share with you one verse today, one verse today. Ephesians chapter four, verse one. It's ⁓ what I'm putting in my journal and what I want to encourage you with. Here's what Paul says, I therefore the prisoner of the Lord beseech you, I'm encouraging you to walk worthy of the calling with which you have been called. I'm gonna read that verse one more time and highlight a couple of words for you. It says, I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, pause and recognize Paul is saying, I'm a prisoner of the Lord. He's saying that in a positive way, not a negative way. I have willingly bound myself to the Lord Jesus. I am his servant and I am surrendered to him. I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, I'm practicing what I'm about to tell you. I'm encouraging you that you, you, just right where you are, listening in the car, taking a walk, just say to yourself, Say, say me, me. He goes, You, you, you walk worthy of the calling with which. You were called. Let me tr translate that if I was gonna read it to myself. Brandon, you walk worthy of the calling that God's put on your life. And here's the the observation that I want to make in what is is sticking out to me today. Number one, we'll just go theological good Bible interpretation. He's talking to believers, and he's saying, You've been called to serve the Lord Jesus. And in serving the Lord Jesus, we have to now align our life with that. And so now, because I'm a child of God, I'm a part of God's kingdom, part of his family, I am now living my life according to his standards and his ways. So that that's a good Bible the like theological interpretation. But but he here here's what stuck out to me personally, and and this is still good Bible theology. ⁓ be because you can take scripture and you can verify and validate this all through the old and new testament. Here's what's take out to me. By the way, this is why I love the Bible, because the Bible speaks to you directly. I I I thought about how how often we compare and contrast ourselves to other people. Well, you know, I mean, well, what they do, well well, the way they live, well, you know, their their value. Well, you know, like their family. Can you remember this growing up? You go to say at a friend's house, and ⁓ maybe they get to watch a TV show that you don't get to watch at your house, or maybe they do something at their house that you don't get to do at your house, and you come home and you're like, Well, well, mom, but at Billy's house, and and if you had good parents, they would say, Well, this is not Billy's house, this is my house. And and and often we can compare and contrast ourselves to other people. and start living life according to their standards. But here's the question I want ask you. Who has God called you to be? Just just sit on that for a minute. Who has God called you to be? Who who who's the man that God's called you to be? Who's the woman God's called you to be? Who's the leader that you know God's called you to be? Who's the mom? Who's the dad that you know God's called you to be? Who's the family that you know and you have conviction God has called you to lead and raise up? Who's the boss? Who's the employer? Between you and God. The conviction in your heart, who are you called to be? I think that's a starting point. To go, I'm not special, I'm not unique, I'm not above, but but but but I am special and unique in the sense that God's got a special and a unique calling on my life. I'm not trying to be them. I'm not trying to compare myself to them. I I'm not trying to to to to be or do because they no God's called me to something. And according to that. According to that, I have to walk and live my life. Paul says, walk worthy of the calling that you have been called. We'll go extreme example. Think about someone like a LeBron James, professional basketball player. I'm not holding myself to the same standard that he holds himself to in the gym. Or when it comes to his recovery or diet or nutrition, because I I'm not called to, or I'm not. ⁓ sign to the Los Angeles Lakers to play basketball at a professional level. However, in the same way, LeBron James is not looking at you and I and he's not taking tips from us on our diet. He he's not looking to you and I and taking tips from us on our fitness. Why? Because he he's called to, if you will, he's he he's striving for something that is different and above and greater in a sense, athletic sense, than than than what we are. So he holds himself to a different standard in his workout, different standard in his diet, different standard in his rest and recovery. Why? Because because he is clear and he knows who he's trying to be. And I just, there's a power spiritually in you and I recognizing God's called me to something. And even even if it's not something like vocationally, I might have a conviction, yeah, but but but I know that God wants me to be this kind of a mom. Yeah, but I know God wants me to be this kind of a man. And Paul would say to you, you walk worthy, you walk accordingly to the calling that God has given you. Here'd be my application. Number one, stop comparing yourself to other people. Number two, get clear on who God has called you to be in every area. Who's the man? Who's the dad? Who's the pastor? Who's the leader? Who's the friend? Who has God called you to be? And number three, begin to align your life to. And live and walk and strive to come in alignment with the calling that you have. I'm I'm I'm not gonna compare myself to people anymore. I need to get clear on who God's called me to be, get confident in that calling, and then begin to live and walk according to the calling that God has given me. I hope that encourages you today. I hope it makes sense and I hope it gives you something today to think about and to pray about. Can can I pray for you? Lord Jesus, today I pray for every single person. Who's listening to this podcast? And I pray that God, you would speak to them in a clear way and help them to be clear about who you've called them to be. For anyone who's out there who's striving and who is struggling to find calling and purpose, God, I pray that you would speak to them and that you would be clear about who you've called them to be. Would you begin to give them convictions and values they've never had before? And Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus that you would help us to break free from comparison. And to begin to live worthy of and in accordance with the calling that you've placed on our life. I thank you for it today in Jesus' name. Amen and amen. Hey, thank you again for listening to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. Love you so much. And I can't wait to see you again tomorrow on another episode of the Daily Word podcast.
