Saline Lake Drawdown to Fight Invasive Plant | Alexandria Louisiana News
Louisiana’s Saline Lake is about to undergo a major water level drop starting July 13th to battle the invasive giant salvinia, which has choked nearly 30% of the lake’s surface — blocking sunlight and smothering native plants. Officials are letting the water recede 4–10 inches daily until it’s 8 feet lower than normal, mimicking natural cycles to starve the plant and restore ecosystem health. The goal? Get water back up by October 5th so locals and visitors can still enjoy this vital wildlife and recreation spot — and keep the lake thriving for years to come. Listen in comfort:Get a discount…
