- 1:05Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:09Speaker 5: You strikes me as a Kentucky Derby type dressed up
- 1:14Speaker 5: one say, but they have problems running around.
- 1:19Speaker 6: Rout or you're running a I guess route would be announced?
- 1:22Speaker 7: Never mind, I don't know my point.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Now on the rest of that, can we call that
- 1:25Speaker 5: the p u foq q? Oh wow, that's.
- 1:29Speaker 8: That's I thread that meal.
- 1:30Speaker 5: That's risque.
- 1:34Speaker 8: How do you feel about them putting the altitude on
- 1:36Speaker 8: their helmets? You know, it's like five thousand two, they
- 1:37Speaker 8: got that little thing. I would do that, you know.
- 1:39Speaker 9: Why not?
- 1:40Speaker 5: It's a weird I didn't think there were a ton
- 1:42Speaker 5: of upsets last week. That's why I figured everybody did
- 1:44Speaker 5: reasonably well. Spread is tough for me.
- 1:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I had some courageous picks that could have been
- 1:48Speaker 9: but uga chaga. I can't stop this feeling the underdog
- 1:52Speaker 9: that is playing really well and has the chance for
- 1:55Speaker 9: the upset. It's a dog with teeth.
- 1:57Speaker 5: So you know they're favored by three. I'm gonna repeat that.
- 2:01Speaker 9: What's that?
- 2:01Speaker 2: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 2:06Speaker 2: deals by a Toyota dot com.
- 2:10Speaker 9: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 2:13Speaker 9: at Jillette Stadium and three more to go, folks, Oh wow,
- 2:17Speaker 9: three more. We're looking ahead because uh, I don't want
- 2:21Speaker 9: to look back to that one. That was very disappointing,
- 2:25Speaker 9: to say the least, coming off a bye. It's Evan,
- 2:28Speaker 9: it's Paul, it's Deuce, it's me, it's Matt and Nabooth
- 2:30Speaker 9: were talking Patriots for the next two hours. Current state
- 2:34Speaker 9: of the team coming off that buy three games to go?
- 2:37Speaker 9: We're sitting at what three and eleven right now? Some yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 9: something like that. Disappointing lot.
- 2:45Speaker 7: Look at it as the third overall pick in the.
- 2:47Speaker 9: Draft, you could, you could look at it that way,
- 2:50Speaker 9: but I'm talking about the here and now, and I think,
- 2:53Speaker 9: I think, and I thought that that game against the
- 2:56Speaker 9: Cardinals was a winnable game, and they just came out
- 2:59Speaker 9: and they were they just I'm mistakes.
- 3:04Speaker 5: I'm not gonna be my over the top snarky self
- 3:05Speaker 5: as I normally am. I would say I didn't necessarily
- 3:08Speaker 5: think it was a winnable game, but I didn't envision
- 3:10Speaker 5: what happened in the game either. I thought it would
- 3:12Speaker 5: be much more competitive than that.
- 3:13Speaker 8: Yeah, So it's frustrating, how it because I felt I
- 3:16Speaker 8: don't know how you guys felt inside the stadium, but
- 3:18Speaker 8: like the first few offensive plays they ran like it
- 3:21Speaker 8: felt like, oh they won the toss, they took the ball,
- 3:25Speaker 8: and you're like, okay, they've got something, and it looked
- 3:27Speaker 8: like they knew what they were doing.
- 3:29Speaker 9: They're marching down the field.
- 3:31Speaker 5: And running reasonably. Well. Yeah, a couple of short passes
- 3:34Speaker 5: and then and they were never competitive again. Yeah, it
- 3:38Speaker 5: was like unbelievable. It's like one holding call completely ended
- 3:42Speaker 5: the game. Yep.
- 3:44Speaker 9: So tough. Yeah, tough to say the least.
- 3:48Speaker 5: And I mean, you guys were there liked it. Was it.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Did it look as bad as like it felt on TV?
- 3:53Speaker 9: Like it? I Well, honestly though, I never felt like,
- 3:59Speaker 9: you know, oh we're getting like, you know dominated. I
- 4:03Speaker 9: just felt like, you know, they got they got to
- 4:05Speaker 9: get going, they got to get going here, they got
- 4:07Speaker 9: to go, they need to stop, they need a good drive,
- 4:11Speaker 9: and they just couldn't do it. They just couldn't do it.
- 4:14Speaker 5: There were so many individual breakdowns that like ended all
- 4:18Speaker 5: of those drives. Yeah, like the holding call that we
- 4:20Speaker 5: mentioned on the first drive, you know, pushes them back
- 4:23Speaker 5: ultimately they missed the field goal. I think the next
- 4:26Speaker 5: drive was the Bredarian low drive right the second series
- 4:28Speaker 5: of the game, where he misses a guy in a
- 4:31Speaker 5: run blitz and misses a guy in past protection. There
- 4:35Speaker 5: was a I think the next drive might have sort
- 4:37Speaker 5: of ended when they had the aborted play with one
- 4:39Speaker 5: of the rolls back snaps where they just had to
- 4:42Speaker 5: like get it in all he could to keep possession.
- 4:45Speaker 5: So all of a sudden, now you know, you're into
- 4:48Speaker 5: the second quarter, you're down two scores in the game's over.
- 4:51Speaker 9: So did you listen to the broadcast?
- 4:53Speaker 5: I did not? Oh you mean TV?
- 4:55Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 4:55Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah, TV. I thought you meant the radio.
- 4:58Speaker 5: We watched the game, Ross, you know.
- 5:00Speaker 9: I had it in my ear. Ross Tucker was the
- 5:02Speaker 9: color guy. It's very clear to me that in the
- 5:06Speaker 9: production meeting, the Patriots were very, very transparent with him, because.
- 5:11Speaker 5: That was I totally agree with you.
- 5:12Speaker 9: You would think that that was almost a home not
- 5:16Speaker 9: I'm not talking about because he was favoring the Patriots
- 5:18Speaker 9: or positive towards the Patriots, but it was almost like
- 5:23Speaker 9: that was the team he was covering all the time
- 5:25Speaker 9: time because I would say that most of his comments
- 5:28Speaker 9: were Patriots centric, not not positive, but just about the Patriots.
- 5:33Speaker 5: I kind of agree with you. Yeah, I was going
- 5:35Speaker 5: to go in a different direction, but he was like
- 5:38Speaker 5: Vederian Lowe misses a block on the second series of
- 5:41Speaker 5: the game, and he immediately went to we need the
- 5:45Speaker 5: Patriots are going to need to help him, and they
- 5:48Speaker 5: obviously are getting the ball out really quickly because they
- 5:50Speaker 5: don't trust the pass protection here. I think that I
- 5:52Speaker 5: think was telling me that that came from production.
- 5:55Speaker 9: I think he said the words the Patriots have a
- 5:57Speaker 9: left tackle problem.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Yes, and it was on the first second series of
- 6:01Speaker 5: the game. But the first missed block, he got all
- 6:03Speaker 5: of a sudden they got the problem.
- 6:04Speaker 9: He got that from us. I don't mean us, I
- 6:06Speaker 9: mean I know the production meeting.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I got the same impression.
- 6:10Speaker 9: Yep, And I thought that was interesting. Don't you Didn't
- 6:13Speaker 9: you think I did. I don't know if you called it.
- 6:16Speaker 8: I didn't catch an interesting point. I just I was
- 6:18Speaker 8: curious from the group, just focusing on that Firstarian low
- 6:20Speaker 8: play where it just seemed like he either wasn't ready
- 6:23Speaker 8: to get off at the snap or his eyes were
- 6:24Speaker 8: in the wrong and you know, like I think the
- 6:27Speaker 8: way Jerrod described it afterwards was like the guy got
- 6:29Speaker 8: a good jump. It's just it felt like Venerian low
- 6:31Speaker 8: got a really late jump and didn't really know where
- 6:34Speaker 8: he was going because that guy was by him.
- 6:36Speaker 9: And like, well, now we know why Vederian Lowe likes
- 6:38Speaker 9: to line up in the backfield because he no, he's not.
- 6:43Speaker 5: You're supposed to protect us, listen, No.
- 6:45Speaker 9: But he's not confident about how he gets up, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 9: off the snap. He probably knows himself, I'm slow, I
- 6:51Speaker 9: need a little head start.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair, absolutely fair.
- 6:54Speaker 9: You know. So that was disappointing, and you know, you
- 6:58Speaker 9: go down the list. Jalen Polk just cannot you know,
- 7:03Speaker 9: be part of the you know, the on field production
- 7:07Speaker 9: Booty with with the you know, the pass that he
- 7:10Speaker 9: bobbles and ends up being an interception. I thought the
- 7:13Speaker 9: ref call was bad. That took away an interception on
- 7:16Speaker 9: the part of the Patriots. I think that was a
- 7:18Speaker 9: bad call.
- 7:19Speaker 8: I agree another one. I'd like to see you let
- 7:22Speaker 8: that one go.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I mean, I think he probably did hit him in
- 7:24Speaker 5: the head, but I don't think it was I don't
- 7:26Speaker 5: think it rose to the level it was not. Did
- 7:28Speaker 5: you see the one that the Falcons benefited from last night?
- 7:31Speaker 5: You know, speaking of these rough and the passer calls.
- 7:33Speaker 5: That was an awful call online.
- 7:36Speaker 7: An awful loss in fantasy football? Oh good in the playoffs,
- 7:40Speaker 7: I lost by point zero two of a point.
- 7:44Speaker 8: Who do you blame who on your on your roster?
- 7:47Speaker 11: On?
- 7:48Speaker 8: Yes, his family league actually players right now.
- 7:52Speaker 7: I don't like being that guy, Mike that blames people
- 7:54Speaker 7: for your fantasy football team. But young Way Coup, you
- 7:57Speaker 7: were dead to me. He missed the field goal at
- 8:00Speaker 7: the end of the game, and very very end of
- 8:03Speaker 7: the game. He missed like a forty something yards.
- 8:06Speaker 9: Done for you?
- 8:06Speaker 5: Are you sure?
- 8:07Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 8:08Speaker 5: I missed that.
- 8:09Speaker 7: He missed the field goal, and uh, I was winning
- 8:13Speaker 7: by a point and when he missed the field goal,
- 8:16Speaker 7: oh I lost the point.
- 8:18Speaker 9: Wow, he was here.
- 8:20Speaker 8: I mean, you had your chance when he was here,
- 8:22Speaker 8: you could or something.
- 8:24Speaker 5: That's a tough, that's a bad. Basically Stanford is going
- 8:27Speaker 5: to focus on that one. I think next week bad
- 8:30Speaker 5: beats its tough.
- 8:32Speaker 9: Yeah, you know. And the Patriots defense just continues to
- 8:37Speaker 9: get worse and worse. It seems middle of the field
- 8:41Speaker 9: linebacker play, especially on coverage, uh just not there. Safety
- 8:47Speaker 9: play failed us this game. Some of the third bad angles.
- 8:50Speaker 5: In the second half seemed non competitive. It was like
- 8:54Speaker 5: third six and they went to great lengths to tell
- 8:56Speaker 5: you how bad the Cardinals are on third and long.
- 8:59Speaker 5: They're like thirty second in the league on third and long.
- 9:01Speaker 5: And they were completing passes.
- 9:03Speaker 8: Like effortless, just out of the backfield, like the little
- 9:06Speaker 8: just flare out and the.
- 9:06Speaker 5: One at the end of the first half to Dorche.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Then you had like a couple of McBride in the
- 9:11Speaker 5: second half, but killed just easy, easy pitching catch.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, Evan Evan wrote it. I mean, I agree,
- 9:16Speaker 8: I think Pepper's I mean, he was on that fifty
- 9:19Speaker 8: two yard run. Whatever it was, I made a bad angle,
- 9:21Speaker 8: flat footed. He doesn't look the same as he even
- 9:23Speaker 8: looked in the sum missing Douger having some like embarrassing
- 9:27Speaker 8: missing of tackles that you.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Know he was on the doorage play.
- 9:30Speaker 8: Put on the Twitter machine where he's you know, flying
- 9:33Speaker 8: out of the way. Yeah, And I mean me and
- 9:36Speaker 8: Eman were talking about a little bit, and it's just
- 9:39Speaker 8: I think when the Patriots defense was good up front
- 9:41Speaker 8: and in sync, you just you see they build the wall.
- 9:43Speaker 8: You know that one PAULI build the wall. You know,
- 9:46Speaker 8: it's straight across. There's not a lot of space. When
- 9:48Speaker 8: the ball goes to one size the spce, the space
- 9:50Speaker 8: compresses and the linebackers are able to read. And I
- 9:54Speaker 8: just I saw someone on Twitter calling out the Patriots
- 9:57Speaker 8: just linebackers overall, and it's I just totally agree. I
- 9:59Speaker 8: think you're witnessing what it's like when a team just
- 10:02Speaker 8: does not have off the ball linebacker play guys that
- 10:04Speaker 8: And honestly, like I make fun of myself because when
- 10:06Speaker 8: I was a freshman, I loved I was an inside linebacker.
- 10:09Speaker 8: I loved it, but I had no idea what I
- 10:11Speaker 8: was doing. And I remember the coach is talking to me,
- 10:13Speaker 8: like specifically saying, you know, you gotta read how the
- 10:16Speaker 8: guards go. If they come out and they're trying to
- 10:18Speaker 8: block you this way, you got to get around them
- 10:19Speaker 8: and you gotta beat them to the point. And there's
- 10:21Speaker 8: just none of those places when the Patriots linebackers ever,
- 10:23Speaker 8: they can't get around. They're not that get or have
- 10:26Speaker 8: the vision to get around those blocks. They're not physical
- 10:28Speaker 8: enough to get through them, and.
- 10:29Speaker 9: They're not going downhill and if they're not taking good angles.
- 10:32Speaker 8: And how many runs are just you know, not even like, yes,
- 10:35Speaker 8: some of them are straight, but other ones are weaving
- 10:38Speaker 8: through and then they're off, you know, a lot of them.
- 10:41Speaker 5: There's a couple of plays like in the middle of
- 10:43Speaker 5: the game that Mike, Mike got a little frustrated in
- 10:47Speaker 5: this game. Have you know when when the defense isn't
- 10:48Speaker 5: playing well, you know, that doesn't sit well, doesn't sit
- 10:51Speaker 5: well with Mike. But there was like back to back
- 10:53Speaker 5: plays where we're watching the replay and Mike is counting
- 10:56Speaker 5: how many yards James Connor got before being contacted. Yeah,
- 11:02Speaker 5: Like there was one that was like eleven yards before
- 11:03Speaker 5: anybody even touched them. And that's getting blown off the ball.
- 11:08Speaker 5: That's not feeling playing downhill. Like Fred said, that's total
- 11:11Speaker 5: system breakdown. So it's not mistackles, it's no one's there
- 11:14Speaker 5: to tackle.
- 11:15Speaker 8: And I mean, I think I do think it's interesting
- 11:17Speaker 8: in a way because at times you'll see Infony Jennings
- 11:22Speaker 8: will make just stout the edges set.
- 11:25Speaker 5: He is there, that's his thing.
- 11:27Speaker 8: He's you know, you'll see plays where Devon Godshaw stats
- 11:32Speaker 8: this guy looks which way sheds. I mean, that's what
- 11:35Speaker 8: it's supposed to look like. But there's just too many
- 11:38Speaker 8: pieces around them that make none of those there's you know,
- 11:42Speaker 8: there are moments where you like, that's an NFL play,
- 11:44Speaker 8: Infhony Jennings, that's an NFL play, That's an NFL play,
- 11:47Speaker 8: Davon Godsha. But you know, after them, it's it's a
- 11:50Speaker 8: quick drop between the other guys that are actually making
- 11:52Speaker 8: an impact like that, and certainly, you know, not enough
- 11:54Speaker 8: to play on their side of the field, their side
- 11:56Speaker 8: of the line of scrimmage. I mean, everything is at
- 11:59Speaker 8: least two three yards before they're you know, even close
- 12:01Speaker 8: to and they're coming off a bye, right, you know,
- 12:04Speaker 8: you have a little extra time to prepare.
- 12:07Speaker 9: You should be a little bit more rested up, no excuses,
- 12:11Speaker 9: just no excuses. You're hoping that these last four games,
- 12:16Speaker 9: you know, you'd see some positive things, and we didn't
- 12:19Speaker 9: see it. Now you know, of course, Drake may I
- 12:21Speaker 9: think he played fine. A lot of it was at
- 12:24Speaker 9: the end when and the game was kind of out
- 12:26Speaker 9: of hand. I think Gonzales played well. Although Patris fans
- 12:30Speaker 9: are going to get a little upset with me, I
- 12:33Speaker 9: think I might be. I thought two of those plays
- 12:35Speaker 9: that he had were borderline pass an.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Afference, so I didn't think either one of them was interference.
- 12:41Speaker 5: But I do think this. It brought me back, and
- 12:43Speaker 5: Mike and I talked about this during the game when
- 12:45Speaker 5: the plays happened. It brought me back to the argument
- 12:47Speaker 5: that we had a couple of weeks ago when everyone
- 12:49Speaker 5: was saying, he doesn't think you should be rewarded for that.
- 12:52Speaker 5: They were both on Harrison, right. All Harrison had to
- 12:54Speaker 5: do was stop and go for the ball. Yeah, and
- 12:58Speaker 5: he would have gotten interference both times, because I don't
- 13:00Speaker 5: think there's any way that Gonzales could have avoided contact
- 13:04Speaker 5: if he had done that. But I didn't think either
- 13:06Speaker 5: one of them. I thought that was the best game
- 13:07Speaker 5: I've ever seen him play. Okay, I thought he was
- 13:10Speaker 5: really good in that game.
- 13:11Speaker 7: Okay, I thought he had Harrison so in jail that
- 13:15Speaker 7: that he wasn't going for the ball, like he wasn't
- 13:18Speaker 7: locked into his And then the one time the pass
- 13:21Speaker 7: is there, he has the ball in his hands and
- 13:22Speaker 7: he allows Gonzalez to.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Take it out.
- 13:24Speaker 9: That was a great place.
- 13:25Speaker 5: I been a bad play by Harrison too.
- 13:27Speaker 9: Well, it is, but but you should never give up
- 13:29Speaker 9: on the play.
- 13:30Speaker 5: I thought it was literally the best game.
- 13:33Speaker 9: It was the equivalent. And I thought that game across
- 13:36Speaker 9: that would be called a trail check.
- 13:37Speaker 7: Yeah, when you when you when at some point the
- 13:44Speaker 7: Gonzales Pro Bowl All Pro case, like that film is
- 13:48Speaker 7: the film?
- 13:49Speaker 5: So that was another one about the transparency. Was Ross
- 13:52Speaker 5: Tucker over the top, like you should have heard him
- 13:55Speaker 5: talking about Gonzales.
- 13:56Speaker 9: I like Ross Tucker, I thought he was really good.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't think there was anything.
- 14:01Speaker 9: I mean, we don't get to hear a lot of
- 14:03Speaker 9: other games.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I mean that's unfortunately, this is where we are. We
- 14:05Speaker 5: have to I mean that's got to be yeah, I
- 14:08Speaker 5: mean how many how many crews do you think they
- 14:09Speaker 5: have of all the.
- 14:10Speaker 9: Color of all the color analysts have heard. He's as
- 14:13Speaker 9: good as any I've heard. I put him up there
- 14:16Speaker 9: with Greg Olsen. Oh yeah, that's absolutely anyway. I don't
- 14:21Speaker 9: want to digress, but I did.
- 14:22Speaker 5: I thought the broadcast was fine. Now there's a couple,
- 14:25Speaker 5: you know, minor nitpicks, like the Patriots kicked a field
- 14:28Speaker 5: goal to make it ten to three, and the guy
- 14:30Speaker 5: goes and it brings brings the Patriots within four, and
- 14:33Speaker 5: that's funny.
- 14:34Speaker 9: Man.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know that's just a mistake. That's not
- 14:37Speaker 5: necessarily an indictment on their ability to call the game.
- 14:42Speaker 5: I thought, like, I know, like, I feel like I
- 14:44Speaker 5: want to keep saying this about Gonzales because I think
- 14:48Speaker 5: that I'm accused at times of being a little critical.
- 14:52Speaker 5: This is the game that people have been telling me
- 14:54Speaker 5: that he has every game. Like I saw it down
- 14:57Speaker 5: the field, them targeting the guy that he was covering,
- 14:59Speaker 5: and he is making sure the guy that he's covering
- 15:02Speaker 5: is not catching the ball. And I know that the
- 15:04Speaker 5: stats and all, like all other games are similar to this.
- 15:07Speaker 5: I didn't see it like this, you don't. I didn't
- 15:10Speaker 5: see this in the Rams game. I saw it in
- 15:12Speaker 5: this game. You know, I saw him. I think Evan
- 15:16Speaker 5: put it really well, like he just had Harrison locked up.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Now Harrison and he's kind of been been a little
- 15:23Speaker 5: mid for for a guy who was supposed to transcend
- 15:26Speaker 5: the rookie wide receiver corps. Yeah, I think you can
- 15:29Speaker 5: make an argument that he's the He's definitely the third
- 15:32Speaker 5: best of the of the rookie first round. Is you
- 15:35Speaker 5: can make an argument that he's fourth best.
- 15:37Speaker 9: Yeah, Brian speak speak.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Thomas, Thomas and neighbors are absolutely been.
- 15:41Speaker 9: Better than Yeah, speaking of Gonzales. And you know, looking
- 15:44Speaker 9: ahead to twenty twenty five, So you have one corner,
- 15:47Speaker 9: do you Trake? If you can, do you take Travis
- 15:49Speaker 9: Hunter as a corner and just solidify that position.
- 15:54Speaker 8: It's a great conversation we talked a lot about on
- 15:56Speaker 8: the postgame show, and people are turning the page to that.
- 15:59Speaker 8: I'll just say off the top, I would I would
- 16:01Speaker 8: definitely not rule out Travis Hunter because he's just so
- 16:04Speaker 8: skilled and talented. But when we get through free agency,
- 16:07Speaker 8: we'll see what kind of new cornerback is And you know,
- 16:10Speaker 8: if I think that's what people have to accept, And
- 16:12Speaker 8: we got some calls on the postgame show, if you
- 16:14Speaker 8: know there are people out there that think he's going
- 16:15Speaker 8: to play both ways and really make an impact in
- 16:18Speaker 8: both positions. And I can understand if you believe that
- 16:20Speaker 8: that you would think what a great fit for the Patriots.
- 16:23Speaker 8: I just think some of us are skeptical that he'll
- 16:25Speaker 8: have the kind of impact of the wide receiver.
- 16:28Speaker 9: I've heard the argument just because it hasn't been done
- 16:30Speaker 9: in a long time. You know, I'm talking seventy years
- 16:33Speaker 9: doesn't mean a player can't now do it. But it's
- 16:36Speaker 9: unreasonable in the NFL to expect a player to play
- 16:39Speaker 9: both ways. I mean really played both ways. I don't
- 16:42Speaker 9: mean as a gadget Marcus Jones.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Right, you know, I'm talking sixty five plays on.
- 16:47Speaker 9: Both sides of But can't do it. I can't do it.
- 16:49Speaker 7: I just think the bigger question is can he play
- 16:52Speaker 7: wide receiver at the NFL at a high level? Because
- 16:56Speaker 7: it's undoubtedly more valuable for him to be a wide receiver.
- 17:01Speaker 9: But he's a better corner than he is a receiver,
- 17:03Speaker 9: don't you think.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I do buy a lot.
- 17:07Speaker 7: Yeah I don't know about a lot, but yeah, but
- 17:09Speaker 7: he's no matter which way you slice it, whether it's
- 17:13Speaker 7: from the player perspective or the team perspective, it's more
- 17:15Speaker 7: valuable for him to be a great receiver.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Oh of course it's yeah, I would I I would
- 17:19Speaker 5: agree with you.
- 17:20Speaker 7: I just him too right for him most importantly, Yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 7: and I given the guy that advising him, the maximizing
- 17:28Speaker 7: his earning potential in the NFL is going to be
- 17:29Speaker 7: number one on his list of to dos. From Dion's perspective,
- 17:33Speaker 7: So like, if he plays wide receiver and he's a stud,
- 17:37Speaker 7: which I think he has the potential to be, he's
- 17:39Speaker 7: going to be making this different view, he's going to
- 17:41Speaker 7: be making thirty million dollars a year yep, in four
- 17:44Speaker 7: or five years. If he's a really really good corner,
- 17:48Speaker 7: it can be making twenty maybe twenty talking four to
- 17:51Speaker 7: five years from now. Yeah, yeah, but like it's all relative.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you pump up the wide receiver number too though, right.
- 17:58Speaker 7: Around thirty five. Yeah, his his receiver tape is excellent,
- 18:03Speaker 7: like much better than I thought of.
- 18:04Speaker 9: I don't think like maybe going up against.
- 18:07Speaker 7: I mean you could say the same about everybody at.
- 18:09Speaker 5: That leng, right, I don't see it that way, But
- 18:12Speaker 5: I mean I coming at this full disclosure, I do
- 18:16Speaker 5: not watch every play of these games. But when I
- 18:19Speaker 5: watch Colorado, I see a technician like as a cornerback. Well,
- 18:24Speaker 5: that's what he is, incredible, incredible mirroring skills like wide receiver.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I see an athlete who's better than the guy covering him,
- 18:33Speaker 5: going up and making place. I don't think that that's
- 18:36Speaker 5: something you can rely on in the NFL. Just I'm
- 18:38Speaker 5: just the best athlete on the field every game that
- 18:40Speaker 5: I play, right.
- 18:40Speaker 7: But if he focuses on receiver full time.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Hands, it's probably great ball skills.
- 18:48Speaker 7: Skills and his ability to finish through contact is what
- 18:51Speaker 7: gives me hope that he could play receiver in the NFL.
- 18:53Speaker 5: We had a lot of people calling in on your side,
- 18:55Speaker 5: Evan on Sunday, pushing back on my because I feel
- 18:58Speaker 5: like he's a great corner, he's a guy who plays
- 19:01Speaker 5: wide receiver, and obviously a lot of listeners agree with you.
- 19:05Speaker 5: They think he could be great at both.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean he won the bulletin Gough, So he's
- 19:09Speaker 7: the best receiver in the country for people that you
- 19:12Speaker 7: know college football.
- 19:13Speaker 9: So what's more realistic then if you're going to play
- 19:17Speaker 9: both ways full time receiver, spot corner or spot receiver
- 19:24Speaker 9: full time corner.
- 19:25Speaker 7: I would say the Marcus Jones full time corner spot
- 19:28Speaker 7: receiver because they can use him third down gadget, you
- 19:32Speaker 7: know that kind of things on offense. You can't really
- 19:34Speaker 7: do that on defense, Like you're either in the defense
- 19:36Speaker 7: or you're not.
- 19:37Speaker 9: You know, you don't put him in on obvious passing plays.
- 19:42Speaker 5: But that's like every play, Yeah, I guess, yeah, yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Like you're either on defense or you're not. I feel like,
- 19:48Speaker 7: but you know, the biggest things with him at receiver,
- 19:52Speaker 7: his ball skills are excellent, like his ability to track
- 19:54Speaker 7: the ball finished through contact, make plays in traffic. And
- 19:58Speaker 7: he's got a really good feel and instinct for zone coverage,
- 20:02Speaker 7: like just being able to find soft spots and voids
- 20:05Speaker 7: and work with the quarterback and things like that. So
- 20:08Speaker 7: you have those two baselines, like you can teach him
- 20:10Speaker 7: how to release, you can teach him how to you know,
- 20:12Speaker 7: technique at the top of the route if he needs
- 20:14Speaker 7: to develop in that sense. So, I it's a tough one,
- 20:18Speaker 7: and I expect him to want to play receiver more
- 20:21Speaker 7: than corner.
- 20:22Speaker 5: I know he wants to try to do both. That's
- 20:24Speaker 5: what he's he he's talked about. I saw a thing
- 20:27Speaker 5: with Richard Sherman talking to him, and he was just like,
- 20:30Speaker 5: you know, just stick with corner and you know, or
- 20:35Speaker 5: you know, stick with one. And his point was, they're
- 20:39Speaker 5: gonna run you ragged if you're trying to try, if
- 20:42Speaker 5: you're playing full time both, They're gonna line up a
- 20:45Speaker 5: receiver and they're gonna run fifty yard go routes on
- 20:48Speaker 5: you all game.
- 20:50Speaker 9: And how do you practice that?
- 20:51Speaker 5: So they're going to wear you out for offense if
- 20:54Speaker 5: you if you're going to try to play both. Now,
- 20:58Speaker 5: Richard Sherman's a guy who played both at a high
- 21:00Speaker 5: level in college. Like he started his career at Stanford
- 21:03Speaker 5: as a wide receiver. I shouldn't say necessarily as a
- 21:07Speaker 5: high level because he became a high level player in
- 21:09Speaker 5: the pros. He wasn't necessarily that coming out the way
- 21:12Speaker 5: that the Hunter is. Hunter's the Heisman Trophy winner. He's
- 21:15Speaker 5: the best player in college football, and Sherman wasn't considered
- 21:18Speaker 5: that at Stanford. But he's a guy who has some
- 21:20Speaker 5: experience playing on both sides of the ball.
- 21:22Speaker 9: Yeah, all right, well that's gonna be interesting saying right
- 21:25Speaker 9: now as it sits Patriots are drafting where third Okay
- 21:31Speaker 9: Raiders Giants.
- 21:32Speaker 5: I don't know who's who's first, Giants.
- 21:35Speaker 7: Traiders, Giants, Patriots, Okay, Panthers, Jaguars, and you know, with
- 21:40Speaker 7: two games against the Bills and once it went against
- 21:42Speaker 7: the Chargers, Uh, it's.
- 21:44Speaker 9: Gonna be tough for the Patriots to get that fourth win.
- 21:48Speaker 9: You know, I'm still holding out hope. You know, as
- 21:52Speaker 9: it stands, I said the Patriots ceiling is six this year,
- 21:55Speaker 9: and by god it is that's their ceiling, right, I
- 21:59Speaker 9: was right on.
- 22:01Speaker 7: I'll take the number one pick.
- 22:03Speaker 8: What a what a challenge though this week to have
- 22:04Speaker 8: to go play that Buffalo team. I mean, that's they're
- 22:07Speaker 8: creally humming. So they're wearing their all new I wish.
- 22:11Speaker 9: I could have watched that game.
- 22:12Speaker 5: What do they get?
- 22:13Speaker 8: They weren't all new red uniforms.
- 22:15Speaker 9: Yeah, right on white.
- 22:17Speaker 5: That's disconcerting.
- 22:18Speaker 7: I just feel like the comparison of watching Buffalo's offense,
- 22:22Speaker 7: and obviously they have better players and that certainly helps,
- 22:25Speaker 7: but just watching Joe Brady and Josh Allen and how
- 22:28Speaker 7: they've designed that offense around Josh Allen and the compare
- 22:32Speaker 7: and contrast to what the Patriots are running offensively right now,
- 22:37Speaker 7: it's disheartening. I guess, you know, like it's just from
- 22:41Speaker 7: a play design perspective, the Bills have leveraged all of
- 22:45Speaker 7: Josh Allen's talents into their offense, and the Lions defense
- 22:49Speaker 7: was just in an absolute blender for four quarters, like
- 22:52Speaker 7: just had no idea where the ball was coming out.
- 22:55Speaker 7: And you know, I know, a big conversation right now
- 22:58Speaker 7: is about the design quarterback runs with Drake May or
- 23:01Speaker 7: their lack thereof. And you know, the Bills are running veer,
- 23:04Speaker 7: They're running there three years.
- 23:06Speaker 9: I mean, you know, give it time with Drake May.
- 23:08Speaker 9: We'll get there, will we We'll get there absolutely, Okay, yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 9: you know skeptical.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I mean, like, well, we're Bills there the first year
- 23:16Speaker 5: that but they ran Josh Allen.
- 23:18Speaker 9: They ran them, but they he didn't have the command
- 23:21Speaker 9: of the game that he has right now. I mean,
- 23:23Speaker 9: come on, Tom Brady didn't have the command.
- 23:27Speaker 7: We're not talking about him going through progressions like this
- 23:29Speaker 7: is like he's reading an end, the end crashes, he
- 23:33Speaker 7: keeps the ball and if he doesn't, shuts it off
- 23:35Speaker 7: all right, Like that that type of stuff is stuff
- 23:37Speaker 7: that all these quarterbacks are doing from high school on now, right,
- 23:41Speaker 7: Like that's not it.
- 23:42Speaker 9: Didn't look that good in Josh Allen's first year.
- 23:44Speaker 7: No, no, it didn't know what he was doing. But
- 23:47Speaker 7: ahead of Josh Allen, you.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Keep changing it. No one's asking it to look as
- 23:50Speaker 5: good as he's looking for Josh Allen. Yeah, they're asking
- 23:55Speaker 5: Evans asking to have some design runs for Drake May.
- 23:58Speaker 5: That's not the same thing.
- 23:59Speaker 9: All right, But here's a question right for you, Paul,
- 24:02Speaker 9: because on your show yesterday when I show Felger led
- 24:06Speaker 9: the show off with the statement that the Patriots made
- 24:09Speaker 9: an organizational decision they're not going to run Drake May.
- 24:13Speaker 9: Is that true?
- 24:14Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:15Speaker 9: I heard that.
- 24:16Speaker 5: I don't know if it's true, and I don't know
- 24:17Speaker 5: what he's facing it on. But if you're asking me
- 24:20Speaker 5: what what I think, Do I think that's true or not?
- 24:23Speaker 5: I'm going to err on the side of saying I
- 24:24Speaker 5: think it's true. Yeah, I have no idea.
- 24:27Speaker 9: No, I don't know there. But I just think that
- 24:30Speaker 9: they're just not calling those plays.
- 24:31Speaker 5: It can't be an accident that they haven't called a
- 24:34Speaker 5: design runs.
- 24:35Speaker 9: Even sneaker, whether it's a VP thinking you know, we're
- 24:38Speaker 9: not going to go there yet, maybe those aren't things
- 24:40Speaker 9: He has to work on and right now we want
- 24:42Speaker 9: to do things that he needs to work on.
- 24:43Speaker 5: So I don't know, I'll give you another I don't know,
- 24:45Speaker 5: I'll give you another reason why I feel that way,
- 24:47Speaker 5: And it's back to your transparency in the Evidently in
- 24:50Speaker 5: the production meeting there was one of the plays that
- 24:53Speaker 5: he ran and he got out of the pocket, ducked
- 24:56Speaker 5: out of bounds and I did he slide once? Yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 5: And when he slid, they said they don't want him
- 25:02Speaker 5: to slide feet first because of what happened to him
- 25:04Speaker 5: earlier in the year. They want so this is clearly
- 25:08Speaker 5: something they're talking about about his running and they don't
- 25:10Speaker 5: want him running, and they want him running and protecting himself.
- 25:13Speaker 5: That's at the top of the list. So if you're
- 25:15Speaker 5: asking me what I think, I think that they have
- 25:18Speaker 5: made a decision. We're not going to make any unnecessary
- 25:22Speaker 5: hits for Drake May by asking him to be a
- 25:24Speaker 5: design runner.
- 25:25Speaker 9: Felga said it like it was a fact.
- 25:27Speaker 5: I don't have anything to base that on. So I
- 25:30Speaker 5: don't know if Mike is just overstating something as fact
- 25:33Speaker 5: that really isn't. It's really his opinion. But if you're
- 25:36Speaker 5: asking me what I think I think he's right.
- 25:38Speaker 7: It's there's two explanations. It's either they're protecting him they
- 25:42Speaker 7: don't want to run him, like Felger said, Or is
- 25:44Speaker 7: that they don't have the schematic chops to design the place.
- 25:47Speaker 7: Oh right, there's there's only those two things.
- 25:50Speaker 9: Well, maybe we just haven't installed. We really haven't practiced
- 25:53Speaker 9: that yet. We're working on other stuff.
- 25:55Speaker 7: How could you not practice it yet?
- 25:57Speaker 9: Though?
- 25:57Speaker 7: Like this is what he is, Like you're you're this
- 26:00Speaker 7: is his superpower? Well, like his physical traits are his superpower.
- 26:04Speaker 7: And if you don't, like.
- 26:05Speaker 9: Again, it's first year. We're not going anywhere, we're not playoffs.
- 26:08Speaker 9: Let's have him develop the things that he's not that
- 26:10Speaker 9: good at yet, and then year two you pull out
- 26:13Speaker 9: the superpowers.
- 26:14Speaker 7: I guess I.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Just I don't know.
- 26:16Speaker 7: I'm just I'm just saying, No, I hear what you're saying.
- 26:18Speaker 7: I just look, I just thought offensively with this game plan,
- 26:21Speaker 7: like he threw thirty percent of his passes behind the
- 26:25Speaker 7: line scrimmage, Like his average aery yards per attempt in
- 26:28Speaker 7: the first half was negative point eight.
- 26:29Speaker 9: Is that because of the line It could.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Be I think that's why they did it.
- 26:33Speaker 7: It just didn't work, But like, why are they you know,
- 26:35Speaker 7: they're terrified of the line and he's just not They're
- 26:39Speaker 7: not letting him get a rhythm or get into the
- 26:41Speaker 7: game at all. Like he's just throwing screens. He's throwing
- 26:44Speaker 7: quick game like they they give up a sack, you know,
- 26:46Speaker 7: Darien Low gives up a sack. I don't even know
- 26:48Speaker 7: what the play was, Like, I don't even know what
- 26:50Speaker 7: routes these guys are running.
- 26:51Speaker 9: So you're down on a VP today.
- 26:53Speaker 7: I'm down on all of it. But like it just
- 26:57Speaker 7: it's really disheartening to watch. You know, they don't let
- 27:02Speaker 7: Drake go out and try to win the game for
- 27:04Speaker 7: him like they you know, you always said that you
- 27:06Speaker 7: didn't want them managing him like they managed mac Jones. Yes,
- 27:10Speaker 7: that's exactly what they did on Sunday. I think they're
- 27:12Speaker 7: they coddled him, like they're not letting him run. They're
- 27:15Speaker 7: not running him by design. They're not letting him throw
- 27:17Speaker 7: the ball down the field, like he didn't throw a
- 27:19Speaker 7: ball over ten yards until the third quarter.
- 27:21Speaker 9: All right, Well, listen to me. It's it's approach, you know,
- 27:26Speaker 9: it's modus operende so far, because I think they should
- 27:29Speaker 9: have started him on week one. The fact that they
- 27:31Speaker 9: didn't do that until what week six or seven? This
- 27:35Speaker 9: makes sense to me that they're they're taking their time
- 27:38Speaker 9: with him. But I'm not disagreeing with you and that
- 27:42Speaker 9: they should be doing that.
- 27:43Speaker 7: Yeah, I just think the only thing to me at
- 27:45Speaker 7: this point because I agree with you at this like
- 27:46Speaker 7: it's kind of water under the bridge at this point,
- 27:48Speaker 7: like there's three games left in the season. But if
- 27:51Speaker 7: I'm girod Mayo and I'm you know, Elliott Wolf, like
- 27:54Speaker 7: I'm going to a VP and I'm at the end
- 27:57Speaker 7: of the season and I'm saying, you know what, what
- 27:59Speaker 7: is our plan for two point zero?
- 28:01Speaker 9: Yeah, and just remind me in the a VP offense
- 28:06Speaker 9: is what you want him to do? Part of that?
- 28:09Speaker 9: Not really And that's okay, And that's kind of.
- 28:12Speaker 7: Why he got, you know, he left Cleveland like was
- 28:15Speaker 7: because that Cleveland wanted to bring a lot more of
- 28:18Speaker 7: this kind of stuff with DeShawn Watson because that's what
- 28:20Speaker 7: Deshaun Watson is good at. So it just you have
- 28:24Speaker 7: to go to and you have to say, you know,
- 28:27Speaker 7: present to me what you're gonna install next year for
- 28:31Speaker 7: Drake in these elements, right, like, how are we going
- 28:35Speaker 7: to be the Buffalo Bills offensively in terms of scheme
- 28:37Speaker 7: and design? And if he past you know, if he
- 28:40Speaker 7: has a good presentation, then great. But if it's gonna
- 28:44Speaker 7: be a VP, like, send him to a college team
- 28:48Speaker 7: for a week or two, Like, send him to one
- 28:50Speaker 7: of these you know college you know coaches that run
- 28:53Speaker 7: this type of stuff all the time, you know, and
- 28:56Speaker 7: that's their offense, and that's the base of their offense.
- 28:58Speaker 7: And then next year in OTAs in training camp, like
- 29:01Speaker 7: this is the type of stuff they need to be
- 29:02Speaker 7: doing from day one, you know it, just build on
- 29:06Speaker 7: it then, Like if that's what they do, then like fine,
- 29:09Speaker 7: it's frustrating right now that this is you know, how
- 29:11Speaker 7: they're doing it. Like it's third and one at the
- 29:13Speaker 7: four yard line and they're under center with seven offensive
- 29:16Speaker 7: linemen on the field and Drake is not even a
- 29:18Speaker 7: factor that he could take off and run with the football.
- 29:21Speaker 7: But if we get to next September and they come
- 29:25Speaker 7: out and they have all this stuff in the offense,
- 29:28Speaker 7: then great.
- 29:29Speaker 9: So let's just say that they are gonna do what
- 29:31Speaker 9: you're saying, They're gonna start instituting a lot of this
- 29:35Speaker 9: type of offense for twenty twenty five. Yeah, if that's
- 29:39Speaker 9: the case, what's the biggest need right now on the team?
- 29:43Speaker 7: I mean I still think it's offensive line.
- 29:45Speaker 9: It's O line.
- 29:46Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, like the Bills have Deon Dawkins and
- 29:48Speaker 7: like they like to run that long trap play with
- 29:51Speaker 7: him as the lead blocker, and like he's a really
- 29:54Speaker 7: good player, so he can block in space, he can
- 29:56Speaker 7: block on the movies. Athletic, he can get up to
- 29:58Speaker 7: the second level, you know, he can do those types
- 30:01Speaker 7: of things, like they have an elite tackle that that
- 30:03Speaker 7: can do those, you know, types of things that are
- 30:05Speaker 7: a little bit more exotic for.
- 30:06Speaker 9: What you're gonna keep cool strangers. He better at guard
- 30:09Speaker 9: in that system than center? Uh or is it not? Yeah?
- 30:13Speaker 7: I don't think that necessarily matters, Like to me, I
- 30:16Speaker 7: just think that it's it's a play design thing. Like
- 30:18Speaker 7: you look at the Bills in the way that you know, formationally,
- 30:21Speaker 7: they create space and they create conflict in the defense
- 30:23Speaker 7: and they're constantly moving around you.
- 30:26Speaker 9: Trade on when you in that system. Is he too
- 30:28Speaker 9: big for that? Uh? No?
- 30:30Speaker 7: Because you can run like you can run power, like
- 30:33Speaker 7: you can run downhill like Buffalo runs gap like they
- 30:36Speaker 7: don't run zone off of these runs like they they're
- 30:39Speaker 7: pulling people and they're coming at you, so like it
- 30:42Speaker 7: doesn't have to be you know, I think that's like
- 30:44Speaker 7: kind of people say that, oh, zone read, like it
- 30:47Speaker 7: doesn't have to just be zone read. Like you can
- 30:49Speaker 7: run gap read plays too, you know, counter trap power.
- 30:53Speaker 9: Oh listen, I'm with you, I'm with you. You know,
- 30:56Speaker 9: let's let's make the most use of this guy's talent
- 30:59Speaker 9: that we can. And I think that's hopefully what's going
- 31:04Speaker 9: to happen in twenty twenty five. Yeah, the question is
- 31:07Speaker 9: who's going to be the person to implement instant incorporate that,
- 31:12Speaker 9: you know, because right now the world seems to be
- 31:16Speaker 9: down on AVP.
- 31:17Speaker 5: A little bit taken a lot of a lot of heat.
- 31:19Speaker 9: Yep, I have never I still give them credit for
- 31:23Speaker 9: getting made to this point. You know, I didn't credit.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Obviously, I didn't love. I'm not going to be the
- 31:29Speaker 5: contrarian say how great it was on Sunday. I didn't love.
- 31:32Speaker 5: I didn't love the plan on Sunday. I think in general,
- 31:36Speaker 5: I'm not exactly like I got in an argument this
- 31:38Speaker 5: morning some talking about how aggressive they were late in
- 31:44Speaker 5: the game. You know, with the tempo and this and that,
- 31:47Speaker 5: and I'm like, why would you watch anything that happened
- 31:51Speaker 5: in the fourth quarter of that game? And have you
- 31:53Speaker 5: watched have any takeaway from it in any every game?
- 31:57Speaker 5: Like do you but do you honestly think if they
- 31:59Speaker 5: ran no huddle early at the start of every game
- 32:03Speaker 5: that Drake May would make it through the game given
- 32:05Speaker 5: the protection issues that they have, or do you think
- 32:07Speaker 5: that maybe the Cardinals with a twenty point lead in
- 32:10Speaker 5: eight minutes left aren't necessarily going hell bent for leather
- 32:15Speaker 5: and used that again and after Drake May, like they're
- 32:18Speaker 5: not going to be blitzing.
- 32:19Speaker 9: And I heard people say, you know with the touchdown
- 32:22Speaker 9: that May scored running you know, he just walked in.
- 32:26Speaker 9: See that's what he can do if you allow him
- 32:28Speaker 9: to run in the reds its like, yes, they weren't
- 32:30Speaker 9: even playing defense.
- 32:32Speaker 5: No, no one was playing at all, you know, like
- 32:34Speaker 5: even the like Evan made a good point about the
- 32:37Speaker 5: ten yards like none of the passes. This is where
- 32:39Speaker 5: I would say, I have you know, some of the problems.
- 32:41Speaker 5: I understand sort of conceptually what they were thinking in
- 32:45Speaker 5: terms of the Cardinals blitz a lot on defense, but
- 32:48Speaker 5: they know maybe we can use some of that aggressiveness
- 32:51Speaker 5: against them, and you run a bunch of screens. How
- 32:55Speaker 5: about after like the second one that goes for no gain,
- 32:57Speaker 5: you change that a little bit and do something different.
- 33:00Speaker 5: The entire first half, what was it minus point eight?
- 33:03Speaker 7: Yeah, like that's.
- 33:05Speaker 5: The average are yards of the of the throw. You know.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I'm watching the Bears last night and there was like
- 33:11Speaker 5: midway through the second quarter was a similar number for
- 33:14Speaker 5: Caleb Williams. It was like minus point four. And I'm
- 33:17Speaker 5: on Twitter and everybody is destroying Caleb Williams and everything, like, well, what.
- 33:23Speaker 12: Do you think he's supposed to?
- 33:24Speaker 5: What do you think he's supposed to do? Like he's running.
- 33:26Speaker 5: This is what they're they're calling DJ Moore. I don't
- 33:30Speaker 5: know if you watched any of this game last night,
- 33:31Speaker 5: but Dj Moore was like a huge focal point. They're
- 33:35Speaker 5: running him as a running back. He has running back
- 33:37Speaker 5: experience from his college days. Like then all of a sudden,
- 33:42Speaker 5: he starts throwing the ball downfield and they started moving
- 33:44Speaker 5: the ball a little bit. At least the Bears, who
- 33:46Speaker 5: have an interim coach, changed like in the middle of
- 33:49Speaker 5: the game.
- 33:49Speaker 9: Well, or use that to set that up right.
- 33:52Speaker 5: And they started doing some different things. Now, Williams still
- 33:56Speaker 5: missed some open throws and stuff, and he was still
- 33:57Speaker 5: a erratic, but at least they moved. They moved the
- 34:00Speaker 5: ball very well last night. At times, they just couldn't
- 34:02Speaker 5: score because they kept self destructing. I would take that
- 34:06Speaker 5: that's the Colts game for the Patriots. They moved the
- 34:08Speaker 5: ball very well in the Colts game and self destructed
- 34:11Speaker 5: when they got in the red zone. I'll take that.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Sunday was not that. Sunday was we can't get out
- 34:17Speaker 5: of our own way and we're not even trying to
- 34:19Speaker 5: get the ball downfield to make plays. And it was
- 34:22Speaker 5: the most predictable call ever. Yeah, the first play of
- 34:26Speaker 5: the second half was going to be a bomb and
- 34:29Speaker 5: what happens. He throws it into double coverage. Yeah, and
- 34:32Speaker 5: Booty is complaining about play calls against Manda Man and
- 34:35Speaker 5: that's the best you can do.
- 34:37Speaker 7: Booty gave up on the route, of course he did.
- 34:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, like that, like that's just poor to me,
- 34:42Speaker 5: as Fred would like to say.
- 34:43Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I mean that type of stuff is I mean,
- 34:45Speaker 7: that's like the big picture to me is just like you,
- 34:48Speaker 7: we were talking about the run defense, earlier. There's no
- 34:50Speaker 7: rallying to the football, like they don't people don't fly
- 34:53Speaker 7: to it to the football in this defense, like.
- 34:55Speaker 9: What happened to Week one won.
- 34:58Speaker 7: Chicago, Like you know, the hats do not go to
- 35:01Speaker 7: the ball. Like it's like one guy in space trying
- 35:03Speaker 7: to tackle James Connor is a really good running back
- 35:06Speaker 7: and he misses It's it's fifty yards right, Like there's
- 35:09Speaker 7: no there's no rally to the ball on the defensive
- 35:12Speaker 7: side of the football and offensively, like they just don't
- 35:15Speaker 7: do anything. They're easy to defend. Fred, Like they're easy
- 35:19Speaker 7: to defend.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Mike, Mike, here's the Fred line during the game.
- 35:22Speaker 8: I did, I mean, I just I think Booty's kind
- 35:24Speaker 8: of symbol mantic of like what has been going on
- 35:26Speaker 8: because this summer, like I always thought his hands were
- 35:28Speaker 8: so solid and like as we progress in the season,
- 35:30Speaker 8: like that has gotten worse. Like you know, it's like
- 35:32Speaker 8: the things that you could have like come into the season, like,
- 35:35Speaker 8: oh well, at least Kean Boody, Like I think his
- 35:36Speaker 8: hands are pretty good, Like now even those he's having drops,
- 35:39Speaker 8: like he seems off the page, like it's not getting better.
- 35:42Speaker 8: It's like even the things that you thought you could
- 35:44Speaker 8: believe in.
- 35:44Speaker 5: I'll tell you what. What bugs me even more about
- 35:47Speaker 5: the receivers and Booty in particular, like I don't know,
- 35:51Speaker 5: and we'll get Evan's point on it, his view on
- 35:53Speaker 5: it in a second.
- 35:54Speaker 9: They're better than they are.
- 35:55Speaker 5: But Drake May says, I got to put that on him.
- 36:02Speaker 5: I was trying to, you know, keep him out of
- 36:04Speaker 5: harm's way, but I got to put that on him.
- 36:05Speaker 5: I got to make a better throw to Booty is
- 36:08Speaker 5: like balls behind me.
- 36:09Speaker 9: You know that's not all he said, but.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Go back and listen to it. That that was the
- 36:15Speaker 5: premise of what wow. And Douglas is the same way,
- 36:19Speaker 5: like Polk, I have the best hands in football, Like
- 36:21Speaker 5: this receiving corps talks about itself like it's not part
- 36:25Speaker 5: of the problem.
- 36:26Speaker 8: Yeah, and then I just lost my mind before we
- 36:28Speaker 8: walked over here with Kendrick Bourne posting one of Taylor's
- 36:31Speaker 8: tweets of one of the plays, criticizing him doing my
- 36:34Speaker 8: bad retweet like I just I can't do this rant
- 36:37Speaker 8: every week about every week they're up.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Like now my best celebration after the Bomby catches down
- 36:41Speaker 5: twenty three to three with eight minutes left.
- 36:44Speaker 9: Yeah, I got right.
- 36:46Speaker 7: I mean at least they threw one and a half.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm just saying, well, they took him three
- 36:51Speaker 5: and a half to complete one, but they the other
- 36:54Speaker 5: the other time they threw one, they had a guy
- 36:57Speaker 5: as you what did you say you that that that
- 36:59Speaker 5: Gonzales did to Marvin Harrison's in jail. He was in jail.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Booty was in jail. And when they were lucky that
- 37:05Speaker 5: Buddha Baker was so so so glued to Booty that
- 37:08Speaker 5: he couldn't pick the pass off.
- 37:10Speaker 9: He was in a phase. Yeah, good fa.
- 37:14Speaker 8: I just I think this this receiver room is you know, like, look,
- 37:17Speaker 8: we we cammered them for a lack of talent for
- 37:19Speaker 8: years now, and that's certainly the case this year. But
- 37:22Speaker 8: just everything you've been talking about, like they all are
- 37:25Speaker 8: mistake repeaters, finger pointers, you know, talking to the media afterwards,
- 37:29Speaker 8: it's just talking about coming off any of those guys
- 37:35Speaker 8: and like poor you know, even Pop Douglas, he's kind
- 37:37Speaker 8: of just deer in the headlights now too. He's fumbling
- 37:39Speaker 8: like you're getting nothing out of that.
- 37:41Speaker 9: There's no doubt that the pages need a w R one.
- 37:44Speaker 5: But I feel like in the mirror.
- 37:46Speaker 9: Right, but they also need somebody in that room who's
- 37:49Speaker 9: the leader.
- 37:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, you know, Booty's points were all valid.
- 37:53Speaker 7: I don't necessarily think you need to say him publicly,
- 37:56Speaker 7: but but he was right. I mean, the Cardinals came
- 37:59Speaker 7: out in this game, they and they just played Manton
- 38:01Speaker 7: man coverage and the Patriots are throwing screens against Manton
- 38:04Speaker 7: Man coverage. And Booty's thinking to himself, like, why don't
- 38:07Speaker 7: we try to push the ball down the field? Guys,
- 38:09Speaker 7: like they're coming out and they're pressing us at the
- 38:11Speaker 7: line of scrimmage, like instead of just throwing the ball
- 38:14Speaker 7: at the line of scrimmage, Like, maybe if we try
- 38:15Speaker 7: to take a show.
- 38:16Speaker 9: So if he's saying that after the game, he's saying
- 38:19Speaker 9: it during the game. Yeah, And who's sure is anyone listening?
- 38:23Speaker 9: And if they hear it? Is it again? Does it
- 38:25Speaker 9: go back to the lack of confidence in the old line?
- 38:29Speaker 9: You know?
- 38:29Speaker 7: Yeah, it's obviously you know, probably makes sense that that's
- 38:34Speaker 7: why they came out with that game plan.
- 38:36Speaker 5: It's just they don't trust the offense.
- 38:39Speaker 7: They don't trust the offensive line. But like the Cardinals
- 38:41Speaker 7: are not like we're not talking about some ferocious paths,
- 38:44Speaker 7: not a defense. It's not a very good pass rush.
- 38:46Speaker 5: And by the way, it's a non existent pass.
- 38:48Speaker 9: I had to laugh because before the game we're like, well,
- 38:51Speaker 9: you know, Cole Strange is going to be available, but
- 38:53Speaker 9: where's he going to play? You know, Ben Brown's been
- 38:55Speaker 9: doing okay and on cue he has two.
- 39:00Speaker 8: I have a question, a general question for the group,
- 39:02Speaker 8: and it might be different for the offense and the
- 39:03Speaker 8: defensive side of the ball, But do you think that
- 39:05Speaker 8: they're overthinking or underthinking.
- 39:08Speaker 9: Underthinking the Patriots?
- 39:10Speaker 8: Yes, the coaching ste when they're coming up with offensive
- 39:12Speaker 8: plans or.
- 39:13Speaker 9: Great I think I think I think they're overthinking it
- 39:17Speaker 9: and that's stifling them. They're overthinking it.
- 39:21Speaker 8: Just loose, go get loose, you know, I kind of
- 39:26Speaker 8: go around. I'm going around.
- 39:28Speaker 9: How you look at you know, like either either answer
- 39:31Speaker 9: is probably need right, they need to do I mean,
- 39:33Speaker 9: I will say in defense of that, you know, I
- 39:35Speaker 9: had someone say like they need to do different things
- 39:37Speaker 9: and these.
- 39:37Speaker 5: Like it's really hard to be creative for sixty minutes,
- 39:42Speaker 5: Like they have to trick the opponent for sixty minutes
- 39:46Speaker 5: to have success because they don't win a lot of
- 39:48Speaker 5: Like we're just gonna line up on third and town.
- 39:51Speaker 5: My guy's better than you a guy, so we're going
- 39:52Speaker 5: to get this th Like Trey McBride lined up on
- 39:54Speaker 5: third down and said, I'm better than the guy covering me.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Just throw it to me. I'm going to get the
- 39:58Speaker 5: first down. They don't have a lot of those options,
- 40:01Speaker 5: so I will say that, but I think I sighed
- 40:04Speaker 5: bull with Evan. I think that there's some other things
- 40:06Speaker 5: that they can be doing, and I don't think they're
- 40:08Speaker 5: thinking enough about different things that they can do.
- 40:10Speaker 7: Yeah, and defensively, like they third down, it was just
- 40:14Speaker 7: for going to motion the guy across the formation. If
- 40:17Speaker 7: nobody goes with him, it's zone. If somebody does go
- 40:19Speaker 7: with him, it's man. And then here's our man beater,
- 40:22Speaker 7: here's our zone beater. And it was like taking candy
- 40:24Speaker 7: from a kid, right Like it was just it was
- 40:27Speaker 7: just easy, you know, trade McBride. They had like a
- 40:30Speaker 7: sim pressure up from where they put all the guys
- 40:32Speaker 7: up on the line of scrimmage. They motioned a guy across.
- 40:35Speaker 7: Nobody moves, so now you know everybody's dropping out. It's
- 40:38Speaker 7: his own coverage, right, everybody's gonna drop out, So trade
- 40:40Speaker 7: McBride just runs across the middle of the field against
- 40:43Speaker 7: a soft zone coverage and it's a third and six
- 40:46Speaker 7: and Kyle Duggar and Jelanny Tavai a eight nine yards
- 40:49Speaker 7: off the ball and he's just wide open underneath the
- 40:52Speaker 7: coverage for the conversion the next player. They motioned the
- 40:54Speaker 7: guy across. It's man to man del Pettis versus Trade McBride.
- 40:58Speaker 7: Who's gonna win that matchup?
- 41:00Speaker 9: Right?
- 41:00Speaker 7: And this was just it was it was all that, Like,
- 41:02Speaker 7: it wasn't anything that Arizona was doing.
- 41:05Speaker 5: That was That's what I'm saying. Like they could just
- 41:07Speaker 5: line up and say, my guy's better than the guy
- 41:09Speaker 5: that's covering me. I'm just gonna do that. The Patriots
- 41:12Speaker 5: can't do that a lot. I'm not telling you they
- 41:14Speaker 5: can never do it. I mean, certainly to Mario Douglas
- 41:17Speaker 5: is capable of winning a one on one against you
- 41:19Speaker 5: know guys, and you know Born won the one on
- 41:22Speaker 5: one down the sideline on the bottom, not telling you
- 41:24Speaker 5: it never happened. But I don't think that's how they're
- 41:27Speaker 5: going to make it a living. Very often. They have
- 41:29Speaker 5: to trick people, right all right.
- 41:32Speaker 9: Emails are flowing in, calls are coming in, So we're

- 43:29Speaker 16: You know, just like I said yesterday, and then having
- 43:32Speaker 16: the opportunity to watch the film, there were definitely a
- 43:34Speaker 16: lot of plays out there that need that need to
- 43:37Speaker 16: be made. I talked about, you know, the third down.
- 43:40Speaker 16: You know, the unique thing about only having six something.
- 43:42Speaker 16: We have six or seven third downs, and a couple
- 43:44Speaker 16: of those were situational third downs. It was a very
- 43:47Speaker 16: unique situation. But we didn't play well on third down
- 43:50Speaker 16: on either side of the ball. Offensively in the rad area.
- 43:53Speaker 16: You know, we did an okay job. Obviously, you want
- 43:55Speaker 16: to pick up the short yardage situations and then defensively,
- 44:01Speaker 16: you know, it comes back to fundamentals, which I always
- 44:04Speaker 16: talk about.
- 44:05Speaker 4: You know, you even look at the big run play.
- 44:07Speaker 16: We had two players that were pretty much un blocked
- 44:09Speaker 16: that probably should have made that play. And they expect
- 44:11Speaker 16: to make those plays, and we as a coaching staff
- 44:13Speaker 16: expect them to make those plays. But overall, you know,
- 44:16Speaker 16: I would say that, you know, they came out, Cardinals
- 44:19Speaker 16: came out, and they played better than us. They executed
- 44:21Speaker 16: better than us, and we have to we have to
- 44:24Speaker 16: go to the drum board and get better. And I
- 44:27Speaker 16: know there's a lot of chatter about you know, the
- 44:29Speaker 16: question last night. You know, you said that I didn't
- 44:31Speaker 16: mean anything by that. It was more of a defensive
- 44:34Speaker 16: response and ultimately, and I tried to clarify that with
- 44:37Speaker 16: the follow up question because ultimately all of those decisions
- 44:40Speaker 16: are mine.
- 44:40Speaker 4: So I just wanted to get that out there. Fire away.
- 44:46Speaker 17: We'll start with Mike Grease and I anticipate a handswer
- 44:49Speaker 17: you know, a lot of questions today, so we'll start
- 44:50Speaker 17: with a single question, get back, raise your hand again
- 44:53Speaker 17: if you have a follow up question, and we'll come
- 44:55Speaker 17: back to you ahead.
- 44:56Speaker 18: Mike True, what do you mean by defensive response to
- 45:00Speaker 18: that question?
- 45:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it was just more. I didn't mean anything by it.
- 45:03Speaker 16: I just was like, you know, you said it because
- 45:05Speaker 16: I didn't want to go down that whole rabbit hole
- 45:07Speaker 16: and trying to explain all those things, and like I
- 45:09Speaker 16: just said, I tried to clarify that with the follow
- 45:11Speaker 16: up question, saying that all of those critical situations follow me.
- 45:17Speaker 17: Next question, Mike Giardi follot but deg Kai.
- 45:21Speaker 19: Continuing on that theme, Gerardie, you're you're on the headset,
- 45:24Speaker 19: you're on the channel. If you want Drake to run
- 45:28Speaker 19: the ball, you have the right and the power to say, Hey, Alex,
- 45:34Speaker 19: tell him to run the ball.
- 45:37Speaker 4: On me.
- 45:40Speaker 17: A kind fall by still Perry.
- 45:43Speaker 20: More and droddu has there has there been any organizational
- 45:47Speaker 20: disagreement about whether to use Drake my own designed runs.
- 45:51Speaker 16: Now that we have we have uh you know, quarterback
- 45:54Speaker 16: design runs. Just haven't put him out yet, so there's
- 45:57Speaker 16: no disagreement. We're all in the same page. I think
- 45:59Speaker 16: Alex and the offensive staff do a good job putting
- 46:01Speaker 16: together the game plan. I go in there, offered my
- 46:04Speaker 16: two cents, and we come out of the out of
- 46:06Speaker 16: the room as a as a unit. All in the
- 46:08Speaker 16: same page, still Perry felt by Chris Ryan.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Hey drod Has Drake lobbied for those kinds of carries?
- 46:19Speaker 21: He mentioned something last night about how you know he
- 46:21Speaker 21: was a good quarterback sneaker in college and he was
- 46:24Speaker 21: open to it. Has he did he talk to you
- 46:26Speaker 21: guys or suggested in moments that he would like to
- 46:28Speaker 21: do that kind of thing.
- 46:29Speaker 16: Yeah, I'm not going to get really into those types
- 46:31Speaker 16: of conversations. And again, look, Drake's the ultimate team player.
- 46:34Speaker 16: He has been an ultimate team player, and whatever's called,
- 46:36Speaker 16: He's going to try to go out there and execute
- 46:38Speaker 16: it the best that he possibly can. What I will
- 46:40Speaker 16: say is, look, remindre is one of our best players
- 46:43Speaker 16: on the team, one of our best weapons on offense,
- 46:45Speaker 16: and what we did there was ultimately my decision, and
- 46:49Speaker 16: I hope we could pick it up.
- 46:53Speaker 17: Chris Ryan follow by Yoki Chin.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Hey drot ootball as well.
- 46:57Speaker 22: With you money, what is the disconnecting your view between
- 47:02Speaker 22: the offensive stats and point production where it feels like,
- 47:07Speaker 22: you know, a week after week, there's evidence that the
- 47:10Speaker 22: team should be scoring more, you know, than it is.
- 47:13Speaker 22: Why in your view is that not happening? Is that
- 47:15Speaker 22: play calling? Is it execution and how do you fix it?
- 47:19Speaker 4: I think overall's execution.
- 47:21Speaker 16: I would say there have been times where we're going
- 47:23Speaker 16: backwards in the red area where we're in a place
- 47:24Speaker 16: to score, and you know that's tough to do as
- 47:27Speaker 16: soon as you get in the red zone, to go
- 47:28Speaker 16: backwards kind of put you behind the eight ball. And
- 47:30Speaker 16: you know, we just you know, we've been up and
- 47:32Speaker 16: down as a whole, you know, offensively, defensively in the
- 47:35Speaker 16: red area and we just got to continue to understand
- 47:37Speaker 16: that the field is shrinking, there's another player there as
- 47:40Speaker 16: far as the middle of the field, safety and everything
- 47:41Speaker 16: is about the details and going out there next year.
- 47:46Speaker 17: Sophie Cham followed by Sophie Rolling.
- 47:49Speaker 23: Warning coaches yesterday, you mentioned after the game that if
- 47:52Speaker 23: it sounded like a broken record in terms of your
- 47:55Speaker 23: coming in your teams of problems on the field, do
- 47:58Speaker 23: you think it's you know, it's because your message was
- 48:01Speaker 23: not probably delivered and received by your your players, or
- 48:05Speaker 23: you were just simping of your team.
- 48:06Speaker 4: Is lack of talents. What might be the reason.
- 48:09Speaker 16: As far as the message and being received, that's more
- 48:11Speaker 16: of a question for the players, you know. I think
- 48:14Speaker 16: you know when we're go into a week, we're all
- 48:15Speaker 16: on the same page as far as the targets that
- 48:17Speaker 16: we have to hit to go out there and win
- 48:19Speaker 16: the game, and unfortunately we just haven't been able to
- 48:21Speaker 16: do that.
- 48:24Speaker 17: Sophie Roller by Mike Greees.
- 48:27Speaker 6: Morning girod, I was just curious about Christian Gonzales that
- 48:31Speaker 6: you've had a matchup against some of the top receivers
- 48:34Speaker 6: and yesterday was Marvin Harrison Junior. What did you see
- 48:38Speaker 6: from him in that game and just what is it
- 48:41Speaker 6: about his play that allows him to be such like
- 48:43Speaker 6: a lockdown defender.
- 48:45Speaker 16: Well, he's our best player on defense and he proved
- 48:47Speaker 16: that yesterday. Just a guy that goes out there and
- 48:49Speaker 16: competes on a down and a down basis and did
- 48:52Speaker 16: a good job for yesterday.
- 48:57Speaker 17: Back to the top of the batting Oriel Stir with
- 48:59Speaker 17: Mike Grease called a Doug.
- 49:00Speaker 18: Kid, you're at a prior to the fourth and one run,
- 49:05Speaker 18: CBS had a sideline shot of Alex van Pelt maybe
- 49:09Speaker 18: pointing to something and you're reacting to that. I'm wondering,
- 49:14Speaker 18: was that the play clock and if you could describe
- 49:17Speaker 18: maybe what that interaction was, what was going on in
- 49:19Speaker 18: that moment, because it looked like they might have reset it,
- 49:22Speaker 18: but it came after fifteen seis possibly?
- 49:26Speaker 16: Yeah, that was that was we weren't going to get
- 49:28Speaker 16: the playoffs, so i'll call the time out.
- 49:31Speaker 4: Is that the player refers?
- 49:33Speaker 17: I think it was.
- 49:34Speaker 18: I think it was actually, like I want to say,
- 49:38Speaker 18: it was the right before the remander runs, so there
- 49:41Speaker 18: was no time out, So it's the fourth down play.
- 49:46Speaker 4: I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I'll circle back. That's I'll double check that I have
- 49:51Speaker 1: it right.
- 49:52Speaker 17: Right, We're going to the kind forward to Connels.
- 49:57Speaker 20: There was another moment on the broadcast where they showed
- 49:59Speaker 20: Robert and Jonathan Craft and some of the lip readers
- 50:03Speaker 20: out there that they were talking about the offensive play calling.
- 50:07Speaker 20: I'm curious what your thoughts were on that moment and
- 50:09Speaker 20: if they've ever come to you with issues about offensive
- 50:12Speaker 20: play calling.
- 50:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:14Speaker 16: I haven't said anything like that, so I'm not sure
- 50:17Speaker 16: what you're talking about. What I will say is, you know,
- 50:19Speaker 16: they've been fully supportive of us as a team and
- 50:22Speaker 16: they're huge fans of the team that they own, so
- 50:24Speaker 16: whatever they they said, that's what they said.
- 50:28Speaker 17: Thanks Derek Kyle's follow by Chris Ryan.
- 50:33Speaker 4: Morny coach, thank you for your time.
- 50:35Speaker 12: I know last night you mentioned with the run defense
- 50:38Speaker 12: that if you take away the one big run from
- 50:40Speaker 12: James Connor and things didn't look so bad. I mean,
- 50:42Speaker 12: you said something similar after the Jaguars game. But it
- 50:44Speaker 12: seems like lately teams has still been able to make
- 50:46Speaker 12: those body blows like get enough, yarady, just stay on schedule.
- 50:49Speaker 12: So are you willing to kind of con see that
- 50:51Speaker 12: as long as you're maybe taking away some things in
- 50:53Speaker 12: the past game or do those body blows also still
- 50:55Speaker 12: add up because it seems like you face a lot
- 50:57Speaker 12: of third and short situations the past few weeks.
- 50:59Speaker 4: Yeah, the body blows have definitely hurt us.
- 51:03Speaker 16: You know, I thought Connor, you know, ran the ball
- 51:05Speaker 16: very hard yesterday and obviously you know that front. They
- 51:07Speaker 16: do a good job on their doubles and things like that.
- 51:10Speaker 16: But you're exactly right, the body blows they hurt. But
- 51:12Speaker 16: in saying that, like the long run by Connor, we
- 51:16Speaker 16: were there to make the play. We just didn't finished
- 51:19Speaker 16: to play, which is a frustrating thing and it turns
- 51:22Speaker 16: into a fifty yard game. So and again that's what
- 51:24Speaker 16: the NFL is, you know, it's you know, every player
- 51:26Speaker 16: is six seconds and you've got to have ultimate focus
- 51:29Speaker 16: and ultimate execution and six second increments and we.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Just we just weren't able to do that.
- 51:34Speaker 17: Thank you. Thanks, try and follow your featum.
- 51:41Speaker 22: Heydra with three games left here, can you speak to
- 51:44Speaker 22: your evaluating process at this point and you know, whether
- 51:47Speaker 22: it comes to coaches or players, like what you're looking
- 51:50Speaker 22: for to see that there is progress going into next
- 51:56Speaker 22: season and whether there's certain players or coaches are a
- 51:59Speaker 22: part of winning moving forward.
- 52:02Speaker 16: There are definitely different measurements or metrics that you know
- 52:05Speaker 16: we'll look at at the end of the season, uh,
- 52:07Speaker 16: and that we look at right now that we want
- 52:09Speaker 16: to see next week, because every week is about getting
- 52:12Speaker 16: to want to know and you know, everything's being evaluated.
- 52:15Speaker 16: I'm being evaluated, the coaches, the players were all being evaluated,
- 52:18Speaker 16: and no one's happy about where we are right now
- 52:20Speaker 16: and some things have to have to get better.
- 52:23Speaker 17: Thanks are you? Channel followed by Phil Perry.
- 52:29Speaker 23: Hey, coach, I want to ask you about code strange situation.
- 52:32Speaker 23: You guys add him to the I could roster last
- 52:35Speaker 23: last week. Understand you have a certain window to do so,
- 52:39Speaker 23: but he was inactive yesterday. Does it mean that he's
- 52:41Speaker 23: not still not completely ready for the game? Actions was
- 52:45Speaker 23: the situation there, if you can explain a little bit, Yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 23: it just was. He just wasn't ready to go.
- 52:52Speaker 17: Two final questions, Phil Perry and my Grease.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Just getting back to your comments from last night.
- 53:03Speaker 21: Are you worried at all that those comments you said
- 53:07Speaker 21: you didn't mean anything by him? Are you worried at
- 53:08Speaker 21: all that they get taken or your players hear them
- 53:13Speaker 21: and take them the wrong way.
- 53:15Speaker 4: I'm not worried about it.
- 53:16Speaker 16: I mean, I feel like, you know, they're gonna they're
- 53:19Speaker 16: gonna see all those things, and they know my heart,
- 53:21Speaker 16: they know what I'm trying to, you know the point
- 53:23Speaker 16: that I'm trying to get across across and look, I
- 53:25Speaker 16: don't mean anything by it. I didn't mean anything by it,
- 53:27Speaker 16: And like I said earlier, I tried to clarify that
- 53:30Speaker 16: with the second comment. I have ultimate respect and also
- 53:35Speaker 16: you know for the way that those guys go out
- 53:36Speaker 16: there and work every single day, and we just got
- 53:38Speaker 16: to start winning some games.
- 53:41Speaker 17: The last question Mike Riez.
- 53:43Speaker 18: So Jared, I'm going to clean up my other question
- 53:46Speaker 18: on the fourth and one run that Rimandre was stopped
- 53:49Speaker 18: short on, did you feel like operationally, like the time
- 53:53Speaker 18: was good, like you before you know, the ball was snapped.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Or were you worried at all in that moment that.
- 54:00Speaker 18: The play clock might be coming down on you to
- 54:02Speaker 18: get that playoff and that ultimately got off before the
- 54:06Speaker 18: play clock went down.
- 54:08Speaker 16: I wasn't worried about it, and look, ultimately we missed
- 54:11Speaker 16: the block and weren't able to get the first time.
- 54:15Speaker 17: Thanks as thank you Jodd, Thanks everyone.
- 54:19Speaker 24: And now great moments in history, you know, calling out
- 54:25Speaker 24: numbers and I was like, yeah, I just I just
- 54:27Speaker 24: don't see twelve out there yet, like making the joke.
- 54:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and I go, we have I go, they gave twelve?
- 54:32Speaker 8: Weeve, who's twelve?
- 54:33Speaker 7: That's how little did you see twelve of them?
- 54:35Speaker 8: I'm like, I.
- 54:36Speaker 5: Said it like four times. I literally said it four times,
- 54:40Speaker 5: and I was like, they didn't go out twelve.
- 54:42Speaker 8: And then he like the look on your faces, like,
- 54:43Speaker 8: oh you playing me like that guy, Like Fred, I
- 54:47Speaker 8: don't like you you got eighty seven either, just for
- 54:49Speaker 8: the record, Yeah, I don't know that one.
- 54:51Speaker 5: But is there ever going to be a time where
- 54:52Speaker 5: you were allowed to do that? Like twelve? I get yeah,
- 54:56Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I'm over it. I mean I love Devin. Yeah,
- 55:01Speaker 5: at least I didn't even play last year.
- 55:03Speaker 7: It's to me, Devin McCarty is bigger than football. Like,
- 55:07Speaker 7: I think Devin McCarty is like one of the best
- 55:08Speaker 7: people that's ever walked through this building. Yeah yeah, And
- 55:11Speaker 7: I think that.
- 55:12Speaker 5: There's and he's recognized as such.
- 55:14Speaker 7: I think that in other sports that would be recognized
- 55:17Speaker 7: even bigger.
- 55:18Speaker 9: This is not one of things your argument, no one
- 55:19Speaker 9: ever should be Devin mccorty. I get that, but his
- 55:22Speaker 9: number is different.
- 55:24Speaker 7: That's just the way I feel.
- 55:25Speaker 24: That's another great moment.
- 55:29Speaker 9: All right back here and Patriots on filtered a five
- 55:31Speaker 9: five past five hundred. Is the TPX hotline podcasts at
- 55:36Speaker 9: Patriots dot com is the email address. The newsletter sign
- 55:41Speaker 9: ups are going swimmingly. If you want to sign up
- 55:43Speaker 9: for the PU newsletter, you go to Patriots dot com
- 55:46Speaker 9: slash PU newsletter dot com And uh no, not not
- 55:53Speaker 9: dot com. It's Patriots dot com slash PU Newsletter. There's
- 55:57Speaker 9: no dot com after that. So if you want to
- 56:00Speaker 9: sign up for the newsletter, that's what you do. And
- 56:04Speaker 9: you know, so far, so good with that. Alice just
- 56:06Speaker 9: doing a fine job. All right. I have to warn
- 56:10Speaker 9: everyone emails and calls are coming in, but they may
- 56:14Speaker 9: not be for the faint of heart. If you're you.
- 56:17Speaker 5: Know, so I take it that you do your in
- 56:20Speaker 5: you know, your in game chat, your online chat. During
- 56:23Speaker 5: the game. It was not pretty.
- 56:24Speaker 9: Oh it wasn't it get to the point where you know,
- 56:27Speaker 9: every other one was fire may or fire a VP.
- 56:29Speaker 9: And I'm not going to post those because like, what's
- 56:32Speaker 9: the point, you know, but there were millions of.
- 56:34Speaker 5: Yeah, the mail bag is getting a little bit tougher
- 56:36Speaker 5: to navigate.
- 56:37Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, people get so worked up about.
- 56:40Speaker 5: It, and yeah, not like Deuce.
- 56:43Speaker 9: Well, the day they don't get worked up about it
- 56:48Speaker 9: is when we're in trouble.
- 56:49Speaker 8: That's true.
- 56:50Speaker 9: That's true. So let's go to the TPX outline. We've
- 56:52Speaker 9: had people holding patiently by. We'll start with Riley, who
- 56:58Speaker 9: was in Phoenix. What's up, Riley?
- 57:01Speaker 11: Hey, guys, how's it going?
- 57:02Speaker 9: Hey?
- 57:05Speaker 25: Hey?
- 57:05Speaker 11: Uh, it was a tough tough watch on Sunday, was
- 57:09Speaker 11: at the game, went with the buddy in line and
- 57:11Speaker 11: the little early Christmas gift to myself and uh unfortunately
- 57:16Speaker 11: left very disappointed. I thought going into the game, this
- 57:20Speaker 11: was honestly a game that they could have come out
- 57:23Speaker 11: and won. I didn't think they had better odds than
- 57:27Speaker 11: the Cold. I think that was probably the best chance
- 57:30Speaker 11: and the remaining few games to pull out a win.
- 57:33Speaker 11: But by the way, just a couple of things. First
- 57:39Speaker 11: of all, I was pretty upset the first few drives
- 57:44Speaker 11: of the game, and it gave me flashbacks of the
- 57:47Speaker 11: Matt Patricia days, just screen after screen, and it just
- 57:52Speaker 11: kept calling them even though they were just getting blown up,
- 57:55Speaker 11: and me and a lot of the other fans are
- 57:58Speaker 11: just scratching our heads sinking, what the hell are we doing?
- 58:04Speaker 11: So anyways, on that note, I'm not in the camp
- 58:09Speaker 11: of firing a VP. I think giving him some time
- 58:13Speaker 11: because I think at times start the season he had
- 58:16Speaker 11: some really good playfalls. But in other instances you have
- 58:21Speaker 11: those times where you are just scratching your head wondering
- 58:25Speaker 11: what the hell are we thinking? What are we doing?
- 58:28Speaker 11: And a perfect example of that, in my opinion, was
- 58:32Speaker 11: on that third and one when they decided to run
- 58:35Speaker 11: a dive with Antonio Gibson and not our power back
- 58:41Speaker 11: Ramandre Stevenson, and then they decide to put him in
- 58:44Speaker 11: when we go put it on the fourth and one, Like,
- 58:48Speaker 11: why is our power back not in the game in
- 58:53Speaker 11: a third and short situation? Or to your guys's point,
- 58:57Speaker 11: why are we not just running a quarterback sneak with three?
- 59:02Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 59:02Speaker 11: I think, oh, sorry, go ahead.
- 59:06Speaker 9: No, I think a lot of people are thinking the
- 59:08Speaker 9: same thing.
- 59:08Speaker 26: Riley agreed, and.
- 59:13Speaker 11: On that, I just I really don't understand what's what
- 59:17Speaker 11: we're doing when it comes to things like that. But
- 59:22Speaker 11: that's pretty much it as far as that goes.
- 59:25Speaker 9: Ok, thanks for the Carl, Riley, appreciate you calling in.
- 59:27Speaker 5: I would just say on the short yardage stuff, and
- 59:30Speaker 5: you know, you can call a quarterback sneek, you could
- 59:32Speaker 5: do whatever. But whatever you do, if you don't block
- 59:35Speaker 5: the defensive tack, it's probably not gonna.
- 59:37Speaker 9: Work, right. You know. By the way, if the Patriots
- 59:40Speaker 9: had had a good game, you would have heard it.
- 59:42Speaker 9: There were a lot of Patriots fans at that game,
- 59:45Speaker 9: and I feel bad for him, you know. Yeah, so
- 59:48Speaker 9: a lot of people made the trip out there, A
- 59:50Speaker 9: lot of people obviously are Patriots fans, that live out there,
- 59:52Speaker 9: and they were there a lot of blue jerseys in
- 59:56Speaker 9: the stands, but they didn't have much to cheer for,
- 59:59Speaker 9: so feel bad about that for them. Let's go to
- 1:00:03Speaker 9: Chris with a T, I, A N. What's up, Christian?
- 1:00:07Speaker 11: Hey, guys, I'll be quick, and I got a lot
- 1:00:10Speaker 11: of calls.
- 1:00:10Speaker 27: I think the biggest thing for me to share, the
- 1:00:12Speaker 27: biggest disappointment is that you found me and that's it,
- 1:00:20Speaker 27: And it jeopardizes so much of the immediate future, like
- 1:00:28Speaker 27: having a young quarterback on a rookie salary, being able
- 1:00:31Speaker 27: to build around them cheaply with good young guys. Now
- 1:00:35Speaker 27: you've got to go back into the draft and free
- 1:00:37Speaker 27: agency and all the positions that you addressed last year
- 1:00:42Speaker 27: you still have to address. And it's just and the
- 1:00:48Speaker 27: guys that you signed all regressed. If I'm not mistaken
- 1:00:53Speaker 27: unless somebody else has told me different.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: But I mean, you know, there's a couple here and there.
- 1:00:59Speaker 9: People are asking me a lot that yesterday. Who are
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: the guys that you you know? Who are the guys
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: that should return it? Are you done, Christian? Or do
- 1:01:05Speaker 9: you want to stay?
- 1:01:08Speaker 25: All? Right?
- 1:01:08Speaker 11: A right?
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: You know, people ask who would you who would you
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: keep and you had the question off their if the
- 1:01:13Speaker 9: team were to expand and you can only protect five guys,
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: who would be I think I could come up with
- 1:01:18Speaker 9: five guys pretty easy.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: No, But like, so that's what I'm asking, what are
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: your what are your five guys who? Like, if you
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: had the questions, like, there's an expansion team coming into
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: the NFL, so you can only protect five, So you
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: have five guys that you identify as part of your future. Obviously,
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: everybody says May and Gonzalez, So who are you other three?
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: I think bar More I would protect. I would protect
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: Henry At this point, I wouldn't go ahead, Okay, I
- 1:01:42Speaker 9: would protect Keon White. You know, so I had.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: Keon White and Marcus Jones with my other two out
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: of the five because you had to consider age and
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: if I'm going to protect somebody, I'm going to protect
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: someone that's going to be part of my team for
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: a minimum of five years. And they just don't. They
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: don't have a lot of guys that are four. You know, Huh,
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: you have four? I had five?
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: Who was the fifth I had?
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: But those are my three locks were or you know,
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: the obvious locks. May Gonzalez Barmore, but I would say
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: Marcus Jones yep, and probably Keon White. I mean, am
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: I missing someone? You guys? I asked better with the roster,
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: and like.
- 1:02:26Speaker 9: The age, the question I was asked is who would
- 1:02:29Speaker 9: you bring back? I'd bring back all those guys. I'd
- 1:02:31Speaker 9: bring back Hooper, you know, I you know I would.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: I would try to. I would try to bring back
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: Hooper because it certainly doesn't seem like Jahem Bell has
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: done enough to sort of say like, oh, he could
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: be the number two tight end next year expiring. No,
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: I know, that's why you have to bring them back.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: Hunter is back.
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: I might connect under contract to a VP, and I
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: think that's a connection, And if a VP were to
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: not return, then I wonder if that could be preclusive.
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: But I think he's one of the guys. He's one
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: of the I would say him and Gibson.
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: Have their two best signings.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: Those are two guys that probably gave you what you
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: were hoping for. If you were if you had other
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: if you had.
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: You know, a great uh uh players at those positions,
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: all those guys would be fine on your team, Like
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: Hooper's fine on my roster, Gibson's fine on my roster.
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: Marcus Jones, he's fine on my roster. It's not like
- 1:03:28Speaker 9: they can't they're not good. We just need playmakers like
- 1:03:31Speaker 9: the higher you know too much, fine, you need to
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: have fifty three guys, and those guys are fine on
- 1:03:37Speaker 9: my fifty three guy roster.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I agree. I think that you know, to the
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: Christians point about you still have all the same needs. Well,
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: this is what happens when you're constantly drafting based off
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: of need. Like the players that are labeled wide receivers
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: might not be worth the pick that you're picking that
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: player with. And you know, I think the smart teams
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: that have built it right are just drafting the best
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: football players that they can find. I'm not talking about
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: drafting guards and punters and stuff like that, but at
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: premium positions, the best players that you can find. The
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: problems that you get into is when you look at
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: your board and you say, well, we need a guard,
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: so you draft cold strange in the first round when
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: there's better football players available with that draft pick. You know,
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: and now we're getting into this year with the draft,
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: and people are gonna want Ted McMillan and people are
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: gonna want tackles, and it's like, okay, but if they're
- 1:04:27Speaker 7: picking third or first or second overall and Teed McMillan
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: is not the best player in the draft on the board,
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: then you shouldn't be taking that player because now you're
- 1:04:37Speaker 7: still going to need a wide receiver in a year, right,
- 1:04:40Speaker 7: So like that that's all that it is about it.
- 1:04:43Speaker 7: You can't draft on.
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: These and the ironic thing is you need everything this year,
- 1:04:49Speaker 9: so just take the best play.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: I think that's the silver lining, right, Like you can
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: truly identify the best player available, right with.
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: Me, And even did the little preview for YouTube, And
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: when you look at the Bills roster, I mean, all
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: their key guys were drafted and developed for the most part.
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: I mean, and you know, there's certainly some poles that
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: they had to fill interior line they went and uh,
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: you know, got Amari Cooper. I mean, that's a good
- 1:05:12Speaker 8: like supplemental piece. But really the guys who were making
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: this team right now are guys that they drafted, and
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: even guys that I mean. I made the point, which
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: you know, Kali Security didn't set the world on fire
- 1:05:22Speaker 8: out of the gate. James Cook didn't really set the
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: world up but now they are as they've developed because
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: they're getting good coaching. And I mean, I think you
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: see how the machine starts to work, where all right,
- 1:05:31Speaker 8: we're gonna supplement to our needs, will adda Marii Cooper
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: to try to put us over the top. But you know,
- 1:05:35Speaker 8: it's really Shakir and our tight ends that are, you know,
- 1:05:37Speaker 8: the guys that are making it go down in and
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: down out. And that's I think what you really respect
- 1:05:41Speaker 8: about their team building process and why you have confidence that. Sorry, Fred,
- 1:05:45Speaker 8: I think the window is probably staying open for.
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: A little while.
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: Yeah, Shakira and James Cooker are such great examples of
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: like how we're put into situations to succeed. Like Shakira
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: is a very specific type of player, Like he's a
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: catch and run slot receiver. Like if you have to
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: play him on the outside or you have to ask
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: him to go win one on one all the time,
- 1:06:04Speaker 7: like he's not gonna be able to do that. But
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: in this system, he's just running to space all the
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: time and he's just getting the ball on the move
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: and then he's making things happen with it and it's
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: just a really good fit for him schematically.
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: But I would also add because we're playing Buffalo, so
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: it's kind of topical. And I wrote a little bit
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: about Josh Allen and the Bills this morning. So you're right,
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: like all of those guys right now were draft picks,
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: but it's not necessarily what they did to build the team.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: They did a.
- 1:06:33Speaker 9: Little of both.
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: You know, when they had the young Josh Allen, they recognized,
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: we need to get the most out of this guy,
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: and they went out and got Steph Diggs, you know,
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: to help him out. He no longer needs Steph Diggs.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: This is why I sort of and I know this
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: was good. It was a good natured bickering with me
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: and Fred about the window. But I believed much more
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: in Josh Allen. I didn't think that he needed Stefan
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: Diggs anymore. And I thought that, you know, let's call
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: it what it is. Khalil Shakir is a fifth round pick.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: You know, he's not like this, you know, like Keon
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: Coleman's a guy that they're sort of identified as is
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: maybe the you know, a big thing. He's a second
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: round pick. James Cook, you know, another high, high draft pick.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: But those guys had they were given time to develop
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: into their roles with Cook and Shakir, but they both
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: in their third year now, so you were able to
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: identify we don't have to go to the mat to
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: keep Step out Stefan Diggs. We don't have to overpay
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: for Gabe Davis, who we really like, but he's kind
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: of inconsistent. We could probably get that with a guy
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: like Mac Collins in free agency. So I think that
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: they've been pretty smart with some of the moves they made.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: And like I said at the time in the off season,
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: this wasn't cap casualties. This was a reset. This was
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: we're gonna sort of cycle through some older guys because
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: we have some young guys that we think could play
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: a little bit, and we're gonna do it that way.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: I know everybody thought, like Tredevius White was a cap casualty.
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: They didn't think he was that good anymore. They thought
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: Christian Benford was better than him, a young guy that
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: they drafted and developed. I think he's a seventh round pick,
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: you know. So Mike's point about the development part is
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: very valid. But they built the front. They built what
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: the bills are right now. In a lot of ways,
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: like getting guys from other places as well.
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: By the reason why coaching so important.
- 1:08:25Speaker 8: And that's I mean, how many guys did Paul just
- 1:08:27Speaker 8: list off of guys that, oh this, he was a
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: sixth round pick, he was a fifth round pick, that
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: now is in year three and now he's leading the
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: team in receptions. Yep, you know the development that you've seen,
- 1:08:36Speaker 8: whereas you know, we're looking at guys like Kyle Duggar
- 1:08:39Speaker 8: who's been here four years and like he doesn't seem
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: like he's getting better. He's not emerging to be a
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: leader on this team. And that's you know, I think
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: that's just that illustrates to me the difference in these
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: these two franchises and now they've.
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: But also not falling in love with all your own
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: players and not being afraid and I think Bill did
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: this for a long time very well, not being afraid
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: to let guys go even if they're still good players.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: You know, like Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyle were really
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: good players for them for a long time. Now, I
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: think Hyde actually came back on the practice squad. I
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: think he's back there as a veteran presence. But they
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: you know, that defense is not as good as it's
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: been in the past, but they're figuring it out. You know,
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: it didn't look good the last couple of weeks. They've
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: given enough forty plus the last couple of weeks. But
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: you know they'll figure it out.
- 1:09:24Speaker 8: But you just look at like at Oliver high round
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: draftick both edges high round draft picks. I mean, you
- 1:09:29Speaker 8: know a lot of the core, and I know I totally.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: Agree with your points that they're all draft picks. Matt Milano,
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: Matt Milano in the middle, Like the core, that's the
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: core of that team is You're you're a thousand percent right.
- 1:09:39Speaker 9: We need to draft often.
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: Developed shows though, like you know a lot of these
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: guys like like Alan is making all these guys better, right,
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: and like he's.
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: Like Khalil Shakier. We would be saying, why don't why
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: can't we get anything out of Khalis Shakir. That's what
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: we'd be saying if he was on the Patriots, because
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: he'd be the number one guy, the focus of the
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: other team's secondary and he ain't that. Yeah, in jail,
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: we didn't even get into like the tight ends that
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: are such a huge part.
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: Both both draft.
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: Picks King King Kayden knocks, Yeah.
- 1:10:07Speaker 7: They just you know, like James Cook's a good back,
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: but he's cut. He's got huge holes to run through
- 1:10:12Speaker 7: all the time because of how they stress it with Alan,
- 1:10:15Speaker 7: and it's just, you know, it's just a perfect marriage
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: of like play designer.
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: Quarterback, scheme and talent.
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: And they have enough talent around Alan at the skill position.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: They even got another key running back that they've you know,
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: draft pick and Ray Davis who's given them a little
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: bit of a lift as a as a second option.
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: Podcasts at Patriots dot com is the email address, Justin
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: writes in love the show, especially the measured approach. Compared
- 1:10:40Speaker 9: to other media outlets, Well, there you go.
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: Very few have ever called me measured.
- 1:10:44Speaker 9: My question is this, if Gerard Mayo got fired, do
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: you think he'd get hired somewhere else as a defensive coordinator.
- 1:10:50Speaker 9: My guests would be no, But what do you all think?
- 1:10:52Speaker 9: If your answers know as well, then doesn't that tell
- 1:10:54Speaker 9: us all we need to know.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: That's a great question.
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: Yeah, I told you these wouldn't weren't going to be
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: for the faint of heart. The only positive I hear
- 1:11:01Speaker 9: are the team hasn't quit on him. My question about
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: this is does he deserve all the credit for that.
- 1:11:07Speaker 9: These are all professionals that have to continue to put
- 1:11:10Speaker 9: out good tape for future jobs. So does he really
- 1:11:13Speaker 9: even deserve a bunch of credit for that? So it's
- 1:11:18Speaker 9: that's a good question of the first one. Would he
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: he never was a defensive coordinator. Going into the season,
- 1:11:23Speaker 9: we really didn't know how good a coach he was.
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: So yeah, I've been most disappointed by that side of
- 1:11:32Speaker 7: the ball. Like, offensively, I knew it was gonna be
- 1:11:35Speaker 7: a slog and it was probably not going to be
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: uh as creative as I would like to be able
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: to break down offensive tape. But defensively, like they they
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: brought a lot of other guys back, They brought a
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: lot of the coaches back, and you just thought that
- 1:11:51Speaker 7: it was going to be sort of a continuation of
- 1:11:55Speaker 7: what they were doing with Bill, and they they their
- 1:11:58Speaker 7: fundamentals have regressed. They're they're tackling has regressed. Like they've
- 1:12:02Speaker 7: just regressed across the board on that side of the ball,
- 1:12:05Speaker 7: Like all the players that they resigned and brought back
- 1:12:08Speaker 7: have all regressed, you know, and and so like how
- 1:12:10Speaker 7: did that happen? I think is one of the biggest
- 1:12:13Speaker 7: questions that I have me too.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: I'm gonna put a mini project together this week. I'm
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: gonna I'm going to dive into this.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: Can any polls involved with that or what's the project?
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: No poles, no.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: Pulse, I'm gonna I'm gonna look at the last two
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: years of Defense. I'm going to do it, doing a
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: deep dive on the Red fans the last two years,
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: and I've want to see just how well I haven't.
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: I have a hypothesis.
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: I was going to say, you have a preconceived Yeah,
- 1:12:35Speaker 9: you're going in.
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: I just with the bias and if it if it
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: turns out to be wrong, I will come in here
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: and I say I did X, Y and Z and
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: I came out of it and I found out that
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: I'm way off base.
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: I don't know about the stats, and I'll be interested
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: to see your your project and I don't I don't know,
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: but I test. You can obviously watch this defense and
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: you can't, like in terms of assignment, it's.
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: Not as well coached as it's been in the Like
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: I don't think there's any argument against.
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: Right, Like that's all you know. I don't know, Like
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: were they paper tigers before? Like, yes, possibly, but this year,
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: you know, they they're just not sound, like they're not
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: fundamentally sound on that side of the football. Hard to argue,
- 1:13:15Speaker 7: and Bill would never have let that happen.
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: I hard to argue that part. I was a major
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: concern for me in the off season. I said this
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: to you many times, Freddy Bill's loss, like forget about
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: the coach, the head coach of the team, Bill's loss
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: in terms of coordinating, game planning and adjusting on defense.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: I don't think anybody really took into consideration.
- 1:13:36Speaker 9: We did. We we said it.
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: No, we yeah, I'm talking about outside of here. We did, because,
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: as the emailer said, we're a measured we take a
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: measured approaching these stuff.
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: Though, like if it was I'm talking about like the
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: fundamentals of FO and that piece of it, I was,
- 1:13:54Speaker 7: I'm shocked has gone so far downhill, because like it's
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: one thing if you get into a chess match with
- 1:13:59Speaker 7: Sean McVay and DeMarcus Coming didn't girod or not up
- 1:14:02Speaker 7: to outwit him. At this point, you know, when the
- 1:14:05Speaker 7: Rams are here a couple of weeks ago, Bill might
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: have been, they weren't. Okay. Whatever, they'll grow, they'll learn,
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: but you know, the breakdowns, the bust the run fits,
- 1:14:14Speaker 7: like the techniques of taking on blocks and the tackling,
- 1:14:18Speaker 7: you know, like all these types of things going. That
- 1:14:24Speaker 7: was buttoning all that up. I guess.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: So I don't know what I think that Bill did.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: And this is the thing that I've been most surprised about,
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: even from my perspective, not necessarily being a huge believer
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: in the defense. What Bill would see. Bill would like
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: if it started off bad and you'd be like, oh,
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: we didn't have a good game plan this week. The
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: other team is picking us apart. Bill would figure out
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: what the other team was doing and he would stop
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: it and at least make the other team do something
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: else different to continue the success. Now, to Evan's point,
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: I've seen a half dozen games this year where the
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: other team is doing something and they have success doing
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: it for virtually sixty minutes. Jacksonville running the ball seventeen
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: plays in a row, the Cardinals really running the ball.
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: I don't think they ran the ball enough in that game.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: I think if they just wanted to run the ball,
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: he could have done what Jacksonville did and just shortened
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: the game and you know, done, done, exactly because James
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Connor had sixteen carries in this game. Yeah he I mean,
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: imagine if he had twenty five, He's got like two
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: hundred and twenty yards. If if he gave him another
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: ten carries, like they didn't stop them all day. And
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: that never used to happen with Bill. He would say, okay,
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: we're getting gashed. Let's do you know this is an
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: obscure reference. Do you remember the Tim Tebow game in Denver?
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: The first time they would play Tim Tebow? Sure, and
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: they're doing the nonsense that he would do with the
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: running around, and they went right down the field twice
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: and then they never moved the ball again because Bill said, Okay,
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: we're going to do this, this and this, and that's
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: going to stop that. And obviously Tebo had no things
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: to fall back on because he couldn't throw.
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I just you know, I don't think Juwan Bentley
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: is Ray Lewis or like this all time great linebacker.
- 1:16:12Speaker 7: But you know they always had a sledgehammer at the mic,
- 1:16:16Speaker 7: like whether it was high tower Bentley even like a
- 1:16:19Speaker 7: land In right.
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: Like Roberts is still playing well for the Steelers.
- 1:16:23Speaker 7: Like they always had somebody that was gonna run through
- 1:16:27Speaker 7: you know who's face as a Lannon Roberts would tell
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: us all so like they don't have like Tavi's not that,
- 1:16:33Speaker 7: Taki Talkie is not that Christian Ellis certainly isn't that,
- 1:16:37Speaker 7: And like there's just that softness in the middle of
- 1:16:40Speaker 7: the defense, Like anybody can run on this defense like
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: you you have like next week against Buffalo, Like they
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: could run for two hundred and fifty yards against the
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: Patriots if they wanted to.
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: H philin Vermont says, I need this question answer exactly
- 1:16:54Speaker 9: how untalented are some of the players on this team.
- 1:16:56Speaker 9: I watch ball and pretty much know what I'm seeing,
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: but I'll know her. But I'm no Revin Lazar. The
- 1:17:02Speaker 9: team has a lot of holes, but I think most
- 1:17:04Speaker 9: would agree the main issue on the roster is the
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: old line. Real question, could any of the current starters
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: for the O line start for any other of the
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: thirty one teams in the league or are they in
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: fact that bad. I'd also ask the same question of
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: the wide receiver group.
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: Mike, Yeah, I think I want to start for teams.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: You know, I'm just Chiefs, but you know other teams
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: I would.
- 1:17:26Speaker 8: Refer to to Mike Reese's a little right up today
- 1:17:28Speaker 8: where you know, I think he made a good point.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: I got to check this out. There are all raving
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:17:33Speaker 8: He did less talented teams that you know, play together,
- 1:17:36Speaker 8: play well, play you know, play sound fundamentally, and that's
- 1:17:38Speaker 8: you know, one of the things I like about football
- 1:17:40Speaker 8: is that you know, at a very least you can
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: do that. It doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna be the
- 1:17:44Speaker 8: best defense in the league, but you know you can
- 1:17:48Speaker 8: run fits and you know everybody plays together all that,
- 1:17:50Speaker 8: those cliches, and that's just what you don't see. I mean,
- 1:17:53Speaker 8: it's just like we talked about with the defense specifically,
- 1:17:56Speaker 8: it's you know, a couple guys make him plays occasionally.
- 1:17:58Speaker 8: But then you can go right down the list and
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: be like Ko might had these two pressures, but he
- 1:18:02Speaker 8: also had these two blown edges. You know, Christian Barmore
- 1:18:05Speaker 8: did this, but he'd also did you know, every single
- 1:18:07Speaker 8: guy is up and down, and it's and it's a
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: comedy of erarors. It takes turns each different play who's
- 1:18:13Speaker 8: gonna mess up this time? And the result is basically
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: offense is doing what they want defensively.
- 1:18:18Speaker 7: It's so true that you can play together as eleven
- 1:18:22Speaker 7: guys and I'll play your talent ten out of ten.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: Time, especially when it comes to stopping the run. Yeah,
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Bill has said that.
- 1:18:28Speaker 7: Yeah, offensively, I just don't think they get enough help
- 1:18:32Speaker 7: from the scheme. Like if at Paul's point earlier about
- 1:18:36Speaker 7: if the tackle just blows the block, well you you
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: don't have the guys to just make those blocks. You
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: don't have the receivers to just win one on one.
- 1:18:44Speaker 7: Like you can't just roll the ball out, you know,
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: and play like. You have to do things offensively that
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: are creative and that are are different because you are
- 1:18:53Speaker 7: talent deficient. And I think that's the part that they lack.
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: But but like you know, and totally a thousand percent
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: with you, the specific the third and third and fourth
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: and one that's really bugged me. And listen, the quarterback
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: sneak whatever you want, that's fine, if you want. If
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: you want to say they should be in shotgun and
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: let Drake may get out on the edges, and I'm
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: all for that. Let Drake may make a play, you know,
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: especially after the third down play gets snuffed. But if
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: you're going to run up the middle like ninety nine
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: percent of the other teams in the league do when
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: it's third and this much and fourth and this much,
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: and you just decide, I'm not going to block a guy.
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: On both plays, it's not a missed block. No one
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: blocked the defensive tackle on the third down play that
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: stuff Gibson, and no one blocked the linebacker on a
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: little bit of a stunt on the fourth down play
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: that like, I don't know what to do, Like I
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: don't know who to kill, I don't know who I'm
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: I don't even know who I'm mad at. It's just
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: so frustrating that It's one thing if you just get
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: overwhelmed physically, and this is what Evan's talking about, like
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: you need some help from your scheme. If they got
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: overwhelmed physically and the you know, Ben Brown is taking
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: on some defensive tackle who's knocking them three yards deep
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: in the backfield and the penetration causes the back to stop.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: Totally get that. Nobody blocked the guy.
- 1:20:12Speaker 7: No, they were supposed to block the guy. They just
- 1:20:14Speaker 7: missed the block. Like the first play on third down,
- 1:20:16Speaker 7: Laden Robinson is supposed to block the guy, yeah, and
- 1:20:18Speaker 7: he whiffs. He comes out of his stands and he
- 1:20:21Speaker 7: misses him. On the fourth down play, Vedarien Lowe is
- 1:20:24Speaker 7: supposed to block that guy, which allows the polar on
- 1:20:27Speaker 7: when to block the linebacker.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: Saying, it's not I'm not good enough to block this
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: guy that I understand, Like the guy's better than your guy,
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: and he overpowered you. You whiffed like you didn't even
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: touch them. Especially the third down play that took like
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: a big three hundred pound guy on third down, the
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: food down play. I'm going to give the Cardinals a
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: little credit that was that was kind of I mean,
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: I'm not I'm not having when it comes to breaking
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: this stuff down. That seemed a little creative to me.
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: The way they sort of ran the guy inside. They
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: ran a stunt with it, with the idea being that
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: that fifty one guy was going to be unblocked and
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: it worked.
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: Yeah, I get what you're getting, a pol I mean
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: to me, it's like even without who missed the block,
- 1:21:06Speaker 8: It's just it comes down to the end of the season.
- 1:21:08Speaker 8: You need a yard in a game where you're trying
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: to show, you know that you're a team that's starting
- 1:21:13Speaker 8: to come together, that has a little bit of a
- 1:21:14Speaker 8: spark here and they couldn't get a yard on two
- 1:21:17Speaker 8: different chances, regardless of who was at fault, Like, that's
- 1:21:19Speaker 8: where this team's at.
- 1:21:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean Scarnekia used to tell me all the
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: time that if you can't pick up a yard and situation,
- 1:21:25Speaker 7: you stay. You know, he he was as blunted.
- 1:21:33Speaker 9: And that's that's the mindset you have to have. And
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: you know, getting back to you know Bill and and
- 1:21:38Speaker 9: you know the fundamentals. You know, he his coaching staff
- 1:21:43Speaker 9: knew how he wanted it coached like you didn't. He
- 1:21:46Speaker 9: didn't have to explain to Dante scarneki or you know,
- 1:21:50Speaker 9: name the position coach. Here's you know, because they came in.
- 1:21:53Speaker 9: The first thing Bill made sure is this is how
- 1:21:56Speaker 9: I want this position coach, because he was that hands
- 1:21:59Speaker 9: on with all of the positions. And then you get
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: into that groove where you don't have to say it
- 1:22:04Speaker 9: anymore because they know what Bill expects. And then what
- 1:22:08Speaker 9: happened is as you've got more of the brain drain
- 1:22:10Speaker 9: over the years, Bill started losing those guys and it
- 1:22:13Speaker 9: was tougher for him. But you know Bill loved coaching.
- 1:22:19Speaker 9: He in practice, you saw it. You know, I would
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: always look at oh, who's he spending time with today
- 1:22:24Speaker 9: and any camp. And he was teaching. He was teaching.
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: It wasn't just overseeing. He was telling these position coaches,
- 1:22:32Speaker 9: here's what I here's what we're doing this week. Here's
- 1:22:35Speaker 9: what I need you to do with your players. And
- 1:22:39Speaker 9: obviously Gerard's not there yet. Very few coaches are even
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: after many years. But Jerad's not there yet in his
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: first year, and we're seeing that. Let's go back to
- 1:22:48Speaker 9: the TPX outline. Patty's in Agawam. It's been holding on
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: for a long time. What's up Patty in Afion?
- 1:22:55Speaker 28: Everyone, Hey got a question, but I got a little
- 1:23:00Speaker 28: bit of breaking Patriots news to the Saturday twenty eighth
- 1:23:03Speaker 28: game against the Chargers is going to be at one o'clock.
- 1:23:06Speaker 28: I just saw that an NFL dot com What.
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: Day, Saturday eight on Saturday Saturday, Yeah, that was announced.
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:23:16Speaker 29: I just want to give you you guys in this
- 1:23:18Speaker 29: show props because Paul, you're right, like I can't remember
- 1:23:21Speaker 29: if it was you were friend who first said it,
- 1:23:22Speaker 29: but both of you guys were a little bit worried
- 1:23:26Speaker 29: about the drop off on the defense without Bill, and
- 1:23:29Speaker 29: I was one of those people that was on the
- 1:23:31Speaker 29: other side of that, I thought the infrastructure was in
- 1:23:33Speaker 29: place as coaching. I thought we had the players, that
- 1:23:36Speaker 29: the drop off wasn't going to be as draftic as
- 1:23:39Speaker 29: it's been.
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: And well, the context of those statements, I remember it clearly, Patty.
- 1:23:44Speaker 9: It was in the off season and we were thinking about,
- 1:23:47Speaker 9: you know, the forecast for twenty twenty four, and everyone
- 1:23:50Speaker 9: was saying, we look, if the defense is as good
- 1:23:52Speaker 9: as it was last year, and Jude on back right,
- 1:23:55Speaker 9: and I remember us saying, listen, don't expect it to
- 1:23:59Speaker 9: be as good because you can't factor in the loss
- 1:24:03Speaker 9: of Bill Belichick, or in other words, I should say better,
- 1:24:07Speaker 9: you have to factor in the loss of Bill Belichick
- 1:24:10Speaker 9: in that defense, and so you can't expect the defense
- 1:24:13Speaker 9: to be as good as it was, you know, barring
- 1:24:16Speaker 9: any other changes as it was the year before. I'm
- 1:24:21Speaker 9: still not saying it wasn't time for Bill to go.
- 1:24:23Speaker 9: It was, but but that's just the fact.
- 1:24:26Speaker 7: I thought it was just a fact. I thought that
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: there was a chance that they'd be schematically different, like
- 1:24:32Speaker 7: they'd bring up different flavor of how they wanted to
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: play a little bit. I just different coaches to have
- 1:24:38Speaker 7: different strokes you.
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: Know, it's pretty much the same on defense, yeah Marcus Covington, Yeah.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: But they're not like the ones that are Actually they
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: weren't running the defense right right, So like what I
- 1:24:49Speaker 7: was hoping that de Marcus Covington was gonna have some
- 1:24:53Speaker 7: different twists and some different wrinkles like any coach would.
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: And uh, and it does feel like they just tried
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: to run Bill's defense without Bill and they didn't have
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: the magic touch that Bill has with this system. You know,
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: I was just hoping that they'd be maybe front wise,
- 1:25:10Speaker 7: a little bit more aggressive, you know, a little bit
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: more uh, you know, one gap, a little bit more
- 1:25:14Speaker 7: up the field, like and you know, not necessarily.
- 1:25:17Speaker 9: To be fair again, you know, you lose bar more,
- 1:25:20Speaker 9: you lose Bentley behind him, you know, you lose.
- 1:25:22Speaker 7: Even more reason to run up the field, like you know,
- 1:25:25Speaker 7: like if you don't have Bentley to like stand in
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: the bubble and take on a guard, like when you're
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: asking Christian Ellis said two hundred and thirty pounds to
- 1:25:34Speaker 7: do that instead, Like this is what you get. So,
- 1:25:36Speaker 7: like I was hoping that they'd be tweaks, Like I
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: didn't expect wholesale changes to what they were doing schematically,
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: but they haven't really.
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: I just think our point in the off seat was,
- 1:25:46Speaker 9: don't it's not a given that the defense is going
- 1:25:49Speaker 9: to be the same. No.
- 1:25:50Speaker 8: I think there's some stuff to decipher there too. With
- 1:25:52Speaker 8: the safeties. Pepper's was out, Dugger was hurt for a while,
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: and they continued to try to, you know. And I
- 1:25:58Speaker 8: think a lot of what schematically do is spinning the
- 1:26:01Speaker 8: dial with their safeties, playing them at linebacker, moving them back,
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: all this down. He's here, then he's over here, you know,
- 1:26:07Speaker 8: and with Bill and I don't know the purpose behind it,
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: but it felt like there was purpose. Well, why we're
- 1:26:11Speaker 8: putting this guy here? And I just I wonder if
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: these guys are just kind of doing it to do it,
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: spinning it to try to be cute, to try to
- 1:26:17Speaker 8: maybe confuse the up. But it's not working. It's not working.
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: Sam's in West Sussex. What's up, Sam? Sam? Sam?
- 1:26:28Speaker 12: Up?
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: It's an international call, so.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: You never know, fees.
- 1:26:33Speaker 9: I've got to Todd in North Carolina. What's up? Todd? Oh?
- 1:26:36Speaker 30: I think I'm gonna get my aster when mister Perlo
- 1:26:39Speaker 30: has done his work. I was going to ask if
- 1:26:42Speaker 30: the schedule might have been different last year for what
- 1:26:46Speaker 30: they played this year for the defense.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's my hypothesis, Todd.
- 1:26:51Speaker 30: Well, I think that they we played, didn't we play
- 1:26:52Speaker 30: a lot of backup quarterbacks and yep, third string offensive
- 1:26:56Speaker 30: linemen and stuff.
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not even going to get that deep into
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: the weeds in terms of the lineman. But like, i
- 1:27:02Speaker 5: just feel like if you look at like they played
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: one backup quarterback this year, and that was Tyler Huntley,
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: and that's probably the you know, the defense dominated that
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: game and they still lost because they can't score. But
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: that's a similar you know, you have fifteen to you know,
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: a tool Lists Miami team, like they we give up
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: ten to you know, the Giants without Daniel Jones or
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: who you know, whoever they played when they played the
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: backups last year, they basically snuffed them out. They couldn't
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: win anyway, because much like this year, they just they
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: just can't score enough points. Now, maybe the numbers will
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: not back that up. I'm gonna look at it a
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: little bit in the next couple of days.
- 1:27:47Speaker 30: I'm very curious to see what you get because I
- 1:27:50Speaker 30: don't think that just of course, losing Bill is big
- 1:27:53Speaker 30: as you know, mister Kirsh said, but seriously, that's a
- 1:27:57Speaker 30: huge the drop offs just too participitous. But just the Bill,
- 1:28:02Speaker 30: it just doesn't make sense to me.
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: Yeah, but yeah, we'll see because that's.
- 1:28:05Speaker 30: What I would like to hear. And Evan, how can
- 1:28:09Speaker 30: they fake this defense? They need to come up with
- 1:28:11Speaker 30: a new scheme, like a new approach like you were
- 1:28:13Speaker 30: just talking about, or can they revamp it and try
- 1:28:16Speaker 30: to run bills or does Bill's defense just not work
- 1:28:19Speaker 30: without him? And I'd be curious to hear what you're
- 1:28:21Speaker 30: gonna say.
- 1:28:21Speaker 11: Thank you, guys, Thanks God.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a it's a fair question. I think it's
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: a question good touches a lot of different things too,
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: because you have to talk about like personnel and who
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: you're acquiring in free agency in the draft, and is
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: it a certain type of player anymore? Right, Like do
- 1:28:36Speaker 7: you need the Anthony Jennings player archetype anymore? Do you
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: need a Juwan Bentley type of player anymore? Like those
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: guys Dugger and Peppers as like hybrids, like they're very
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: specific to this defense and how Bill would do things.
- 1:28:52Speaker 7: And if that's not how you're gonna play the point,
- 1:28:54Speaker 7: then you have to pivot out of those types of
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: archetypes in terms of the player types as well. So
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: it's just like this is the type of stuff that
- 1:29:01Speaker 7: when we talk about this, this coaching staff and this regime,
- 1:29:05Speaker 7: like Bill would have this conversation and be playing three
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: D chess right like he would be on a plane
- 1:29:11Speaker 7: that like maybe only he could get to Like are
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: these the conversations that are happening now?
- 1:29:17Speaker 9: Like are they They're in North Carolina?
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: But like, are they seriously considering these types of things?
- 1:29:24Speaker 7: You know, at a next level type of thinking of
- 1:29:28Speaker 7: you know, this is you know, to Douce's point about
- 1:29:30Speaker 7: the disguise, and like this is why we're doing it,
- 1:29:33Speaker 7: Like are we doing it just to do it? Or
- 1:29:35Speaker 7: are we doing it because it's actually giving us an advantage?
- 1:29:38Speaker 7: Like Bill always did everything to give him an advantage.
- 1:29:41Speaker 7: And I just worry that there we're not thinking. You're
- 1:29:43Speaker 7: not going to be Bill, like you're not going to
- 1:29:45Speaker 7: be thinking on that plane, but like, can we at
- 1:29:47Speaker 7: least be playing chess? Like right now, I don't even
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: even know if we're playing checks.
- 1:29:50Speaker 9: And you know, Bill learned from good coaches too, and
- 1:29:54Speaker 9: you know, your guy, Bill Parcells. One of the things
- 1:29:57Speaker 9: that he would always say, and particularly about defensive players,
- 1:30:00Speaker 9: is you know, you got to know who you are.
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: And you know, Bill Belichick was the same way about
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: how we used players. You know, he didn't try to
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: ask players to do things that were beyond their skill set.
- 1:30:15Speaker 9: And at the same time, a lot of players didn't
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: like it because they thought they were better than what
- 1:30:20Speaker 9: they were being asked to do. But Bill had the
- 1:30:24Speaker 9: credibility to keep them at Bay, you know. So it's
- 1:30:27Speaker 9: it's a fine line, but you know, there's no one
- 1:30:31Speaker 9: better at it than Belichick, and you couldn't expect it
- 1:30:34Speaker 9: there not to be a drop off. Alexander and Brazil
- 1:30:37Speaker 9: writes in.
- 1:30:37Speaker 7: Ducy's got a point, Oh go ahead, I don't know.
- 1:30:41Speaker 8: I'm sharing just two two thoughts. I mean, I just
- 1:30:45Speaker 8: what does the defensive coaching staff look like next year?
- 1:30:48Speaker 8: And did the Belichick guys stick around? Because I think
- 1:30:50Speaker 8: those guys are a key piece if you're trying to
- 1:30:53Speaker 8: do this system. Like it's nice to know that Brian
- 1:30:55Speaker 8: Belichick and Mike pel Agrino, who understand what they do
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: in the secondary and especially with the safeties, Uh, you know,
- 1:31:02Speaker 8: they understand it. They can teach it and not just
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: put it all on comington. I'd also just say, is
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: this gonna be we need to play faster, We're gonna
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: simplify the scheme. It's gonna be kind of what they
- 1:31:10Speaker 8: try to tell us on offense a couple of years ago,
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: where we're trying to be too cute, we're trying to
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: be too deceptive. Like let's just go to a defense
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: that knows what they're doing. They're gonna play fast, we're
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: gonna play like two different personnel groups, and we're gonna
- 1:31:23Speaker 8: stop trying to like, look Kyle Ugers here, Oh no,
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: he's back there, Like, aren't you confused? Like, no one
- 1:31:28Speaker 8: is confused anymore. Like, however, whatever they're doing, it's not
- 1:31:31Speaker 8: posing any kind of a problem for any.
- 1:31:33Speaker 9: Of these teams. Alexander Brazil says, I don't get to
- 1:31:36Speaker 9: hold the defense is playing badly because of the coaches.
- 1:31:39Speaker 9: I'm sure the coaching has something to do with it,
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: but I would assume these guys played since they were ten,
- 1:31:45Speaker 9: for decades. They've been taught how to tackle the best angles,
- 1:31:48Speaker 9: when to go high, when to go low. All of
- 1:31:50Speaker 9: a sudden boom, they don't have any idea on how
- 1:31:53Speaker 9: to bring a running back down. For me, it has
- 1:31:56Speaker 9: way more to do with talent and the roster than
- 1:31:58Speaker 9: the coaches. Gonza was a good example. He's being trained
- 1:32:02Speaker 9: by the same group of coaches as everyone else, and
- 1:32:04Speaker 9: all he does is improve and play well. The same
- 1:32:07Speaker 9: with avp Oh the calls on third and fourth downs
- 1:32:10Speaker 9: were awful. Why not give it to May? I mean,
- 1:32:12Speaker 9: it's not Avp's fault. If the line whiffs all around
- 1:32:16Speaker 9: the field, they needed less than a yard. They ran
- 1:32:18Speaker 9: straight down the middle two consecutive times. Any NFL team
- 1:32:22Speaker 9: should be able to get it, and I think they
- 1:32:24Speaker 9: got it on the third down. By the way, a
- 1:32:26Speaker 9: QB sneak could have worked, but they would not if
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: they didn't block. It wouldn't have worked if they blocked
- 1:32:32Speaker 9: the same way. It is simplistic to think this would
- 1:32:35Speaker 9: be so much better when Bill went. In fact, the
- 1:32:38Speaker 9: offense was bad the last three years and committed lots
- 1:32:41Speaker 9: of dumb penalties. The defense was average at best, as
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: pressuring quarterbacks and finishing games, especially against good teams, was
- 1:32:48Speaker 9: also a problem. This is a bad roster that was
- 1:32:52Speaker 9: four and thirteen last year and that probably will be
- 1:32:55Speaker 9: three and fourteen this year. Wolf is the man of
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: the hour as the teams need lot The team needs
- 1:33:00Speaker 9: lots of pieces and not just bodies, they need standout
- 1:33:04Speaker 9: talent and players. It's not a bad point, no, I mean.
- 1:33:07Speaker 7: I think we all are aware that the talent on
- 1:33:08Speaker 7: the roster.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: Is the biggest problem.
- 1:33:11Speaker 7: Yeah, but I also just think that more can be
- 1:33:14Speaker 7: done to help.
- 1:33:15Speaker 8: And we've seen some of these guys play better than this.
- 1:33:17Speaker 8: We know they're capable.
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: No one said this is all the defense is not
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: playing well all because of coaching. We just felt like
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: they were going to miss Belichick as a coach. And
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: the same players are the ones that played last year
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: and played better than this.
- 1:33:30Speaker 7: Yeah, and the whole thing about like running may in
- 1:33:33Speaker 7: these situations, like you know, Paul is talking about how
- 1:33:38Speaker 7: guys just whiffed on blocks, but like if you are
- 1:33:41Speaker 7: purposely leaving a guy un blocked for him to read
- 1:33:45Speaker 7: that player and that player becomes the responsibility of the quarterback.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: Right, Well, now that's all different.
- 1:33:50Speaker 7: Now the left guard and the left tackle are doubling,
- 1:33:56Speaker 7: or at least he's doubled it, or at least he's
- 1:33:58Speaker 7: doubling the guy with Leyden Robinson. So you have two
- 1:34:00Speaker 7: bodies in the way instead of just one like, these
- 1:34:03Speaker 7: are the things that in order to like get numbers
- 1:34:06Speaker 7: advantages into put defenses in stressful positions like this is
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: what the good teams do to make those things happen.
- 1:34:13Speaker 7: This is what the Bills do to make those things happen.
- 1:34:16Speaker 7: And and they don't do that kind of stuff. So yeah,
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: when you line up across from the team and you
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: just run the ball traditionally and somebody misses the block,
- 1:34:23Speaker 7: you're not going to get the first down.
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's the only point that I was making. Absolutely,
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: you have plays like that that you know backside end
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: on you want him to get sucked in so you
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: can you can catch them, and things like that. There
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: are times you absolutely leave guys unblocked and in passing situations.
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: Who was better than Brady at that. I know that
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: Ed Reid's coming off now, I'm just gonna wait for
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: him to come and jump, and I'm gonna throw it
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: over his head because the quarterbacks responsible for that guy.
- 1:34:51Speaker 9: Yep Nick and Connecticut writes in Fred always says he
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: loves caller on call a crime, So I figured I'd
- 1:34:56Speaker 9: chime in with my most hated caller. You've had a
- 1:34:59Speaker 9: few email saying they hate Christ with a ti n. However,
- 1:35:02Speaker 9: they are hating the wrong Christian. Christian from La is
- 1:35:05Speaker 9: by far the worst caller. He's a window licking buffoon.
- 1:35:08Speaker 9: He calls in and pretends to articulate an obvious point
- 1:35:11Speaker 9: from the previous week's game in a creative way. Then
- 1:35:13Speaker 9: he ends every call with a question or hypothetical like,
- 1:35:16Speaker 9: would you guys trade a seventh rounder for T Higgins
- 1:35:19Speaker 9: if he signs for one million a year? I'll hang
- 1:35:21Speaker 9: up and listen. Paul is my favorite because he doesn't
- 1:35:23Speaker 9: give the majority of his question as any time whatsoever.
- 1:35:27Speaker 9: So there you go.
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: I never realized that from from Christian.
- 1:35:30Speaker 9: Little in l a caller on collar crime.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: Window is that a thing?
- 1:35:34Speaker 9: A window window licking buffoon?
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: Is that a thing? No, I've never heard, not like
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: mouth breather or.
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: Along the same. You know, Yeah, I used to when
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: you were when you were little and you were on
- 1:35:46Speaker 9: the bus going to school it was cold out, did
- 1:35:48Speaker 9: you used to breathe on the window and drawing?
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: I see what you're saying.
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I actually never took the bus to school.
- 1:35:55Speaker 9: Oh you were. I was a walker, hoy toyy was driven.
- 1:35:59Speaker 9: You didn't have a driver.
- 1:36:00Speaker 11: No.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: I had the majority of the audience thinking that you
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: were about to say you licked the windows.
- 1:36:07Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:36:07Speaker 9: I didn't lick the windows, but you would breathe on
- 1:36:09Speaker 9: them and then draw on them.
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:36:10Speaker 9: Right, let's go to the back to the TPX outline.
- 1:36:15Speaker 9: Kevin is in South Carolina. What's up Kevin?
- 1:36:20Speaker 26: Hey, boys, greeting from a lovely day on coastal South Carolina.
- 1:36:24Speaker 26: Good for you, windows like it's going out of style.
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: Great, it is like sixty here.
- 1:36:30Speaker 9: Did you just call to give us a weather reporter?
- 1:36:32Speaker 9: You got a question?
- 1:36:34Speaker 26: Boys, I grew up in Boston, where it gets colder
- 1:36:36Speaker 26: than sixty. I just wanted to share that I love
- 1:36:38Speaker 26: way Bob. He had a great swing, but after he
- 1:36:41Speaker 26: ate too much chicken, I fell out of love with him.
- 1:36:45Speaker 26: I think Chibriel Peppers is toxic the Patriots brand. My
- 1:36:49Speaker 26: question is why is he on the roster? Is it
- 1:36:52Speaker 26: money or power? And who is responsible?
- 1:36:55Speaker 9: Okay, he thinks he's toxic. Why is he on the roster?
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: I don't know, And obviously he's off field incident right now. Yeah,
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: we don't have any.
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: I don't have the information to say whether or not
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: he should be on the roster, but I think it's
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: a fair fair question to ask.
- 1:37:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I think he's kind of in legal limbo right
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: now and it's a hard spot.
- 1:37:20Speaker 9: But other than that, like take away that is he
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: a bad like up to that point he was looked
- 1:37:26Speaker 9: at as an asset.
- 1:37:27Speaker 8: You were like, yeah, I know, and I still don't think.
- 1:37:29Speaker 8: I mean, I look, I can't speak after the incident
- 1:37:31Speaker 8: and all that, Like I'm you know, a little bit
- 1:37:33Speaker 8: off the Peppers train of it all, But I would say,
- 1:37:35Speaker 8: you know, generally speaking going back to the summer, like
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: I always that's one of my favorite things about him
- 1:37:39Speaker 8: was just the energy and the passion on the football
- 1:37:41Speaker 8: field that he brought. Look at his mic up against
- 1:37:43Speaker 8: the Eagles, Like, I mean, I think that's something that's
- 1:37:45Speaker 8: lacking on this team right now, and it doesn't even
- 1:37:47Speaker 8: seem like he's really bringing in anymore. So, I mean,
- 1:37:50Speaker 8: I guess in that way, I agree with some of
- 1:37:51Speaker 8: the sentiment that they're lacking that still, But I just
- 1:37:55Speaker 8: I remember in O nine that way that season ended
- 1:37:57Speaker 8: getting run off the field out there by the Ravens,
- 1:38:00Speaker 8: and then they drafted Gronk and we've talked a lot
- 1:38:02Speaker 8: about just that, like whole thing he did on the stage,
- 1:38:04Speaker 8: and like that's I feel like what this team's going
- 1:38:07Speaker 8: to need this offseason is just a little bit of
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: an influx of like life and personality. Guys really want
- 1:38:12Speaker 8: to play and you know, and we're I mean, obviously
- 1:38:15Speaker 8: the talent part of it goes without saying, but you know,
- 1:38:17Speaker 8: that's it just I mean, and of course we're getting
- 1:38:19Speaker 8: the end of a season here where they've won three games,
- 1:38:21Speaker 8: and so you understand that they're not bringing that kind
- 1:38:23Speaker 8: of passion every week anyway, But I still just think
- 1:38:25Speaker 8: that they need they need a dose of like leadership
- 1:38:28Speaker 8: and energy, and especially on the defensive side of the ball,
- 1:38:31Speaker 8: guys who are going to hold the rest of the
- 1:38:33Speaker 8: team accountable to a level where it doesn't look exactly
- 1:38:36Speaker 8: the same every single week where you just get run
- 1:38:38Speaker 8: over and it's mistackles and we're step late and coverage
- 1:38:41Speaker 8: and everybody's watching Christian Zalez do a great job, but
- 1:38:43Speaker 8: otherwise it's it's a disaster like that. It's just they
- 1:38:45Speaker 8: need to turn that around somehow, whether it's with the
- 1:38:48Speaker 8: defensive coordinator, whether it's trying to find someone like a
- 1:38:51Speaker 8: Willie Mack who you know is going to come in
- 1:38:53Speaker 8: and embody the personality the defense and really just give
- 1:38:56Speaker 8: them an identity. But right now, the only identity is
- 1:38:58Speaker 8: they're one of the worst defenses in the league. And
- 1:39:00Speaker 8: that's pretty much it.
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: You can tell how much it's hurting him, like, because
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: that was that was a double whammy. He had to
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: be critical of the defense and wondering where Peppers is.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: That's that's that's a tough one.
- 1:39:12Speaker 7: For I feel like Barmore and Peppers and I'm not
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: blaming Barmore at all, obviously with the medical condition, but
- 1:39:19Speaker 7: like those guys are out there right now, but like
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: the old Christian Barmore and Jabriel Peppers is not playing.
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: So you didn't see much from Barmore on Sunday. So
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: I had made the comment after the game, you know,
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: I was talking to Matt a little bit and I
- 1:39:32Speaker 5: was like, you know, at least in the other games
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: I noticed a player too. I was like, oh, there's
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: Barbour's you know, pushed the pockety bit. I did not
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: notice Barbo once in this game, and I think he
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: played the most snaps that he's played so far. And
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: then someone said, Matt told me that he saw a
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: tweet he couldn't remember who tweeted it that it was
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: the old Barmore finally reappeared on Sunday, and I was like,
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: really blown away. I was like, there's times that listen
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: to the line play I miss it. I'm not gonna lie,
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: but I did not notice ninety once.
- 1:40:06Speaker 8: Him out yet, so not officially enough.
- 1:40:08Speaker 7: So he in his defense, because you have to be fair,
- 1:40:12Speaker 7: totally has the defense aside. They also tried to do
- 1:40:17Speaker 7: the old Star Wars trash compactor with Kyler in this game,
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: so they weren't actually like pinning their ears back to
- 1:40:23Speaker 7: rush the quarterback. They were trying to contain the quarterback
- 1:40:27Speaker 7: for the most part with the pass, which was I
- 1:40:29Speaker 7: actually thought they did a decent job. Probably one of
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: the only things they did well in this game was
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: like Kyler's legs didn't really kill them too much, but
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: he had sixteen one on ones zero quarterback pressures. Wow,
- 1:40:43Speaker 7: didn't register on the statcheet.
- 1:40:45Speaker 9: So now it might be just me kind of projecting,
- 1:40:48Speaker 9: but it does look to me like his legs are
- 1:40:50Speaker 9: thinner than at the beginning of the season.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: Yeah, he just doesn't have the power, that power that
- 1:40:57Speaker 7: get off and that power like he's just not there
- 1:41:00Speaker 7: right now for him, and so he's just not not
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: the same guy.
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: Even you look at his pants. They they they're a
- 1:41:06Speaker 9: little bit. They don't do it. Yeah, they don't. I'm
- 1:41:09Speaker 9: and it just could be me, but it seems that way. Yeah.
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: I think I just is gonna need an offseason to
- 1:41:15Speaker 9: get back.
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: And the games that he's played, I've noticed him, you know,
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: individual play here or there. I didn't really remember any
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: individual play in this game.
- 1:41:24Speaker 9: Yeah, I agree, And I watched him a couple and
- 1:41:28Speaker 9: I said that with all due respect. Eldred's in North Carolina.
- 1:41:32Speaker 9: We're big in the Carolinas today. What's up, Eldred?
- 1:41:35Speaker 11: Hey, fellas, how y'all doing all right?
- 1:41:39Speaker 25: I'm a little upset, but like everybody else, and I
- 1:41:44Speaker 25: think it's the line why they want run made that much,
- 1:41:47Speaker 25: and it's those wide receivers, and I'm just not everybody else.
- 1:41:54Speaker 25: I'm just shocked. Ain't got nothing to say. I'm getting
- 1:41:57Speaker 25: tired of getting a finger pointed, but I get there,
- 1:41:59Speaker 25: what you get from winning for twenty five years. Yeah,
- 1:42:03Speaker 25: But the question is Travis or Hunter is a better
- 1:42:06Speaker 25: wide receiver. I was trying there.
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: He's a good corner.
- 1:42:10Speaker 25: Too, but that'd be my pick. I like, well, I
- 1:42:14Speaker 25: like a t MAC too, but I like that speedwar
- 1:42:17Speaker 25: that Hunter brings.
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: So you're you're a resident wide receiver whisperers, So you
- 1:42:23Speaker 9: really think Travis Hunter can be in a wide receiver
- 1:42:26Speaker 9: in the NFL.
- 1:42:28Speaker 25: Yeah, I think he can.
- 1:42:30Speaker 11: Think he can't.
- 1:42:31Speaker 9: Eldred has spoken like.
- 1:42:34Speaker 25: Yeah, I like million size, but you don't have to speed.
- 1:42:37Speaker 25: But he's a good receiver too, But I will take
- 1:42:40Speaker 25: because like the speed. I'm like, what like almost the
- 1:42:43Speaker 25: speed out there?
- 1:42:44Speaker 9: What does he run? Travis Hunter in a forty.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: I don't know, hasn't run yet, but three seven three seven.
- 1:42:52Speaker 25: Four three four four four three and four.
- 1:42:55Speaker 7: Four, he's definitely gonna He's definitely gonna run.
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: Four point two.
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: Wow, point two point two. Let's get him check.
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: We'll see what he does in the comments. He's an elite.
- 1:43:06Speaker 9: Thanks Eldred athlete.
- 1:43:07Speaker 7: I know, absolutely shocked if he runs at the combine.
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: I don't think he's gonna. I think he's pulling a
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: Marvin Harrison Junior. I don't think he's doing anything.
- 1:43:14Speaker 5: Not even the pro day huh.
- 1:43:16Speaker 7: And I don't blame him, like why it won the
- 1:43:18Speaker 7: Heisman Trophy.
- 1:43:19Speaker 8: So how much is this gonna be though, that Deon
- 1:43:21Speaker 8: Sanders circus with these two guys all spring like, is
- 1:43:24Speaker 8: he is this Deans?
- 1:43:27Speaker 9: I mean, that's the thing.
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: A little bit less than than Son. Yeah, so I'm
- 1:43:31Speaker 7: not I'm not like as worried about it with Travis Hunter.
- 1:43:36Speaker 7: But that's why I think he's gonna play receiver.
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: You think it was a bit troubling that Shador Sanders
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: was on the stage for him at the Heisman, I mean, like,
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: what are we doing?
- 1:43:44Speaker 26: I don't know.
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: That's yeah, we'll see.
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: I I mean it's enough that there's a lot of
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: question marks about cam Wood and Sanders as quarterbacks, but
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: now you're going to take a question mark who's not
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: necessarily considered to be the number one overall pick worthy
- 1:44:04Speaker 5: player in most years, and the potential that he comes
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: with him, that Dion comes with him and everything around Deon.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: I don't mean physically him, you know what I.
- 1:44:12Speaker 9: Mean, not that I think sad is that a great quarterback?
- 1:44:16Speaker 9: But I think if he drops, it's partly because of
- 1:44:19Speaker 9: Deon Sanders. Like I don't, I don't want to deal
- 1:44:22Speaker 9: with you.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: But I think if he's not that good, but if
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: he yes, if he had the elite talent, it wouldn't
- 1:44:27Speaker 5: have anything to do with it. But now I have
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: questionable talent. And I don't mean questionable talent, like he's
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: not anything, but he's not. I mean questionable NFL talent.
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: He's a terrific another terrific athlete, but you know he's
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: like another finger pointer, you know, throws his line under
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: the thele. He spent the whole first year in Colorado
- 1:44:43Speaker 5: making fun of the offensive line every game. It was terrible.
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: It was terrible. You don't hear Drake May saying that.
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: I know, but they didn't have a power for offensive line,
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: like they had a Jackson State offensive line playing in
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: a in a But.
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: I think I should have I should have had eighty
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: some odd guys come in the portal. I should have
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: had five of them.
- 1:45:02Speaker 7: I think Schudor is a little bit better than you
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: guys are giving.
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: I think he's good. I just I think there's questions
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: about him, that's all.
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't he wouldn't be necessarily in like the
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: Caleb Jade and Daniels Drake May tire.
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: But would he be better than Pennix?
- 1:45:16Speaker 7: I think he's right there with Pennix. And bow Knicks.
- 1:45:20Speaker 9: Speaking of the portal the Holy Cross to North Carolina portal, Uh,
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: pipeline start to top the.
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: Talent, right, Yeah, championship. Amanda Belichick gave him some inside info.
- 1:45:30Speaker 8: That's really good, Guard, but it's good to see we
- 1:45:32Speaker 8: got to shut out the Holy Cross kid. Jalen Coker
- 1:45:35Speaker 8: had a big touchdown last week for for Indy. He's
- 1:45:37Speaker 8: a come on, sorry, Carolina, my bad. Okay, So yeah,
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: we'll get some some success down there.
- 1:45:43Speaker 9: Uh, Cedars another call for Carolina. Kendall is in North Carolina.
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: What's up? Kendall?
- 1:45:49Speaker 31: Hey, how you guys are doing good?
- 1:45:52Speaker 9: Good? Good?
- 1:45:53Speaker 31: One questions, but it it can be for all the y'all,
- 1:45:57Speaker 31: which all, would would you be okay taking Travis Hunter
- 1:46:00Speaker 31: at three if we don't make if we don't make
- 1:46:02Speaker 31: another wide Receiver edition and all seem like a T Higgins?
- 1:46:05Speaker 31: Or would you only want him if you already had
- 1:46:08Speaker 31: the X and T Higgins or whatnot?
- 1:46:11Speaker 11: And how would you use.
- 1:46:12Speaker 31: Travis Hunter if we if we don't make another dish
- 1:46:15Speaker 31: at wild Receiver?
- 1:46:16Speaker 9: Gotcha? All right? Good question, thanks Kendall. Yeah, see, I'm
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: assuming they're going to do both, but anyway, yeah, I think.
- 1:46:23Speaker 7: That's the toughest part about the Travis Hunters cushion is
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: just how do you use him and where does he
- 1:46:28Speaker 7: play it? Just even if you pick a side of
- 1:46:30Speaker 7: the ball with him, you know, at wide receiver. I
- 1:46:33Speaker 7: I don't think he's like a prototypical X. I think
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: he's better used off the line of scrimmage and moving
- 1:46:39Speaker 7: him inside and outside. So you know, yeah, you'd probably
- 1:46:43Speaker 7: have to have like a true X if you want
- 1:46:45Speaker 7: to call it that to pair with him. But I'm
- 1:46:49Speaker 7: not too worried about that. Like, I feel like he
- 1:46:52Speaker 7: is going to be have that potential to be that
- 1:46:55Speaker 7: like number one wide receiver, and whoever that X is
- 1:46:58Speaker 7: like doesn't need to be the guy like it will.
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: Just have some guy with some size on the outside
- 1:47:02Speaker 8: you can run down the field.
- 1:47:03Speaker 7: Yeah, like Hunters go and come back, So you know
- 1:47:05Speaker 7: you're gonna have to.
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: If you will.
- 1:47:07Speaker 9: There you go? What was jojo?
- 1:47:09Speaker 8: Jojo Jojo?
- 1:47:11Speaker 7: I still signed to Higgins.
- 1:47:14Speaker 9: Let's see Brandon and Hickory North carol I can't believe
- 1:47:19Speaker 9: all the people in the Carolinas that are now Is
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: it all because of Drake May?
- 1:47:23Speaker 7: Do you think probably?
- 1:47:24Speaker 5: Well, the Drake May haters are chiming back in.
- 1:47:27Speaker 9: AVP has to go, in my opinion, I know it's
- 1:47:30Speaker 9: not good to start over with Drake, but our receivers
- 1:47:33Speaker 9: are not capable of getting open on their own, so
- 1:47:36Speaker 9: you have to rely on being able to scheme your
- 1:47:38Speaker 9: guys open, which AVP can't do. I know our receiving
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: corps isn't good, but just watching the other teams, they
- 1:47:44Speaker 9: seem still to be able to get guys open sometimes. Also,
- 1:47:47Speaker 9: I feel like avp's offense is not using Drake's to
- 1:47:51Speaker 9: his ability. I get trying to teach the young quarterback
- 1:47:55Speaker 9: how to play from the pocket and go through his reads,
- 1:47:57Speaker 9: but when you have a playmaker like May, you have
- 1:48:00Speaker 9: to let him play football. Look at Josh Allen. If
- 1:48:03Speaker 9: you ask Josh to just drop back and throw the ball,
- 1:48:06Speaker 9: then I don't think Buffalo would be as good as
- 1:48:08Speaker 9: they're playing right now, and Buffalo doesn't have a top
- 1:48:11Speaker 9: ten receiving corps. I just feel like avp's offense doesn't
- 1:48:15Speaker 9: get the most out of our QB in long term,
- 1:48:18Speaker 9: it will hinder us. Well, we had that discussion earlier
- 1:48:22Speaker 9: in the show.
- 1:48:23Speaker 8: You know, I just want to the point of conversation
- 1:48:26Speaker 8: with the people that you know, called in and would
- 1:48:28Speaker 8: use switching offensive coordinators as a factor in breaking quarterbacks.
- 1:48:31Speaker 8: And you know just how you feel about that now
- 1:48:34Speaker 8: if you're advocating for that, are you you know, are
- 1:48:36Speaker 8: you not worried about that anymore?
- 1:48:39Speaker 7: That's why I think that is valid. Yeah, that's why
- 1:48:42Speaker 7: I would be open to you. I said earlier in
- 1:48:44Speaker 7: the show, like if I was Girawed Mayo, I'd be
- 1:48:47Speaker 7: asking a VP to like after the season's over, like
- 1:48:51Speaker 7: present me with like the Drake may package, like how
- 1:48:54Speaker 7: are we going to incorporate this mobility into the offense
- 1:49:00Speaker 7: next year? And like see if he can just do
- 1:49:03Speaker 7: it like himself, maybe he goes to you know, coaching
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: buddy or something and learns from that from them, how
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: to you know, how they do it at the college
- 1:49:11Speaker 7: level or something like that. Before I'm just like, you know,
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: canning him and then really blowing out the entire offensive
- 1:49:17Speaker 7: staff at that point.
- 1:49:18Speaker 8: Yeah, what if they just said we're just gonna drop
- 1:49:20Speaker 8: your pants size by one and then just see it
- 1:49:22Speaker 8: get the pants a little tighter? Maybe that if you're not.
- 1:49:28Speaker 7: With like, let's send him on a retreat with like
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: Lincoln Riley and he's like what if we just make.
- 1:49:34Speaker 8: It's gonna push the blood to the brain more creativity.
- 1:49:37Speaker 5: And yeah, then you just I love the way that
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: email started though, And I'm not I'm not picking on
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: the email because I didn't think that really anything you
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: said was wrong, But like it's time a VP's got
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: to go. I know, I know we don't have any
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: good wide receivers, but like you know, there's not a
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: lot of examples of teams around the league that have
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: no talent that are able to just scheme it up
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: and be great.
- 1:49:58Speaker 9: And that's the chicken egg quandary that we have right
- 1:50:01Speaker 9: now coaching versus talent.
- 1:50:03Speaker 7: But I just worry about like the offensive tree as
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: a whole. Like Cleveland, Dallas, the Patriots, they're all running
- 1:50:12Speaker 7: this McCarthy offense, and they all stink. So like whether
- 1:50:17Speaker 7: it's you know, Drake May and the Patriots talent or
- 1:50:20Speaker 7: it's the Cowboys talent and they have they have ceedee lamb.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: Like they have offense didn't stink last year.
- 1:50:27Speaker 7: That's true, that's true, but it just in general, you know,
- 1:50:31Speaker 7: this is this scheme too outdated.
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: For I think that's a legit concern. But I also
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: think that the point that Mike brought up about that
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: kennundrum of is that the worst thing you can do
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: to a young quarterback is constantly ask him to change coordinators.
- 1:50:48Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: And I would argue that I would rather change coordinators
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: than stick with a bad one for continuity's sake. And
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: I'm not saying Alex van Pelt is bad. I'm saying
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: in a vacuum philosophically, Yeah.
- 1:51:00Speaker 7: I just worry about it about Drake in his confidence
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: and like at some point he's going to have to
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: see some shots go through, right, And like if you're
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: because I'm with you that, like continuity is important and
- 1:51:14Speaker 7: all that kind of stuff, but like so is actually
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: like having some success, yeah, and not just having it
- 1:51:20Speaker 7: in like flashes where like, oh, he made a great
- 1:51:22Speaker 7: throw to Kendrick Bourne at the end of the game
- 1:51:24Speaker 7: the other day.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: Like they ask success, right, they have to go out.
- 1:51:27Speaker 7: There and like win a game where they score thirty
- 1:51:29Speaker 7: points or something.
- 1:51:30Speaker 9: I mean, we've talked about it before. We we we
- 1:51:33Speaker 9: are just at a disadvantage because we don't really have
- 1:51:36Speaker 9: all the facts. We know what we see, but we
- 1:51:39Speaker 9: what are the root causes of these problems? Is it
- 1:51:41Speaker 9: the coaching? Is it the talent. You know which is
- 1:51:45Speaker 9: which is worse? And that's the one you have to
- 1:51:47Speaker 9: address first, and we we can't really answer that because
- 1:51:51Speaker 9: we don't have all the facts. Destiny from Maryland Rights.
- 1:51:54Speaker 9: And have you guys seen the bill's new uniform that
- 1:51:56Speaker 9: they're wearing on Sunday? I found it hilarious they're wearing
- 1:52:00Speaker 9: red jerseys. Coworkers says the Patriots are not relevant enough
- 1:52:04Speaker 9: for teams to want a troll. But I guess he
- 1:52:06Speaker 9: doesn't understand division, rivalry, hatred even when you're down. You
- 1:52:09Speaker 9: think that's why they're doing it to trol us. Now,
- 1:52:12Speaker 9: I don't know the sea they do. They have read
- 1:52:15Speaker 9: in their uniform.
- 1:52:16Speaker 7: I honestly have to admit I think that they don't
- 1:52:18Speaker 7: give two poops about you.
- 1:52:20Speaker 5: I think that's closer to the truth than yep, yeah,
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: any any of the other theories. But I don't I
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: haven't seen the uniform, so I don't know.
- 1:52:28Speaker 9: Is it the red?
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: But is it patriot reminiscent?
- 1:52:31Speaker 8: I didn't get it's solid red?
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: But haven't they won that before?
- 1:52:36Speaker 8: I thought so, But I don't know that's what they're saying.
- 1:52:39Speaker 9: Uh, let's go back to the TPX headline. Eric's in LA.
- 1:52:43Speaker 9: What's up, Eric?
- 1:52:45Speaker 11: Hey, how's it going guys?
- 1:52:46Speaker 7: Okay, okay, just look.
- 1:52:50Speaker 11: At some draft talk here.
- 1:52:51Speaker 10: So my fantasy at the end of the season, I
- 1:52:55Speaker 10: just I'm tired of passing up on blue chip talent
- 1:52:58Speaker 10: in the draft. We got enough of that will build,
- 1:53:00Speaker 10: you know, trading down and whatnot. I just feel like
- 1:53:03Speaker 10: we just just take Travis Hunter, signed t Higgins, and
- 1:53:07Speaker 10: where about.
- 1:53:08Speaker 11: The rest later.
- 1:53:11Speaker 9: Okay, I have to get your opinion on that. I
- 1:53:14Speaker 9: had nothing wrong with that.
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: That's a good plan. Yeah, you know, get to try
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: to get a tackle in the second round. You're going
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: to be at the top of the second round. You
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: might be able to get a tackle that can play.
- 1:53:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:53:23Speaker 9: Yeah, it's Travis Hunter going to be there.
- 1:53:25Speaker 7: Three, I don't know.
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: I'm skeptical.
- 1:53:28Speaker 11: Question.
- 1:53:28Speaker 7: I'm still skeptical of both quarterbacks.
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: One.
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: Two.
- 1:53:33Speaker 7: I think Dion is gonna get Shador to Vegas. I
- 1:53:36Speaker 7: think that's gonna happen.
- 1:53:37Speaker 9: But the Giants over Tom Brady's dead body.
- 1:53:41Speaker 7: Well, they're they're they're actually know each other pretty well.
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: Oh yeah yeah, and Brady worked to work out together.
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: Oh yeah, so uh, I I think the Giants are
- 1:53:53Speaker 7: the team that like, could the Giants be like a
- 1:53:55Speaker 7: Sam Donald team or like, you know, something along those.
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: Lines, especially if they keep table right.
- 1:54:00Speaker 7: And like instead of just overdrafting a quarterback, maybe they
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: take you know, Travis Hunter or whatever, and then they
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: build you know, the roster, and then if they need
- 1:54:10Speaker 7: a quarterback in a year or two because Sam Darnald
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: doesn't work out, maybe it's a better class for them
- 1:54:16Speaker 7: to take a quarterback. I'm just skeptical that that cam
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: Ward and shouldor are gonna go one two. Like, I
- 1:54:21Speaker 7: just don't think that this is that kind of quarterback class.
- 1:54:26Speaker 9: Zach and Wilmington North Carolina just keep coming in. First off,
- 1:54:31Speaker 9: thank you for the content you provide. We all appreciate it.
- 1:54:33Speaker 9: I've been thinking about Mayo's future with the Patriots and
- 1:54:36Speaker 9: have to admit I may be falling into the time
- 1:54:38Speaker 9: to move on category, even though I really like him.
- 1:54:41Speaker 9: My reasoning is that I just don't know of a
- 1:54:44Speaker 9: single thing that I would say he's great at. There's
- 1:54:47Speaker 9: been issues with clock management, critical decisions in late games, drafting,
- 1:54:51Speaker 9: player acquisition, player development, and overall competitiveness this season. My
- 1:54:55Speaker 9: question is, do you disagree? Is there something I'm missing?
- 1:54:59Speaker 9: That you would point to and say he's done a
- 1:55:01Speaker 9: really good job with this or that.
- 1:55:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't disagree. I mean, look, I just I mean,
- 1:55:10Speaker 8: I've said it to these guys. I do think he'll
- 1:55:12Speaker 8: be back, but I think that there's gonna be a
- 1:55:14Speaker 8: lot of pressure on him next year right out of
- 1:55:16Speaker 8: the gate. Immediately.
- 1:55:18Speaker 5: It's hard to argue all the coaching points that he made,
- 1:55:20Speaker 5: Like they've had issues with clock management, they've had issues
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: with sort of aggressiveness, fourth downs, consistency of approach and
- 1:55:27Speaker 5: stuff like that. That's kind of inarguable. I would say,
- 1:55:34Speaker 5: I think he has the players, like, I think the players,
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: you know, want him to succeed. I think they believe
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: in him to an extent, but that only lasts so
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: long if you don't start to have some success. That's
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: why I did think it was important to win a
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: few games. And I know that, you know, Evan's on
- 1:55:48Speaker 5: the draft pick bandwagon. I don't think Evan's wrong for that, but.
- 1:55:51Speaker 7: Just at this point, it's like, yeah, but I.
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: Mean I do wonder if if you go three and fourteen,
- 1:55:58Speaker 5: and you've won seven games in two years, and now
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: you have I don't know, thirty five of the guys
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: that have won seven games in two years back for
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: your team the following year. That's hard.
- 1:56:08Speaker 9: It's tough to build a culture that way.
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:56:10Speaker 9: We'll end the show with some trivia. It's trivia from
- 1:56:14Speaker 9: the nineties and two thousands.
- 1:56:16Speaker 5: Trivia excellent, love it.
- 1:56:19Speaker 9: See four oh No. Five questions. Who led the Patriots
- 1:56:24Speaker 9: and Sackson both the nineties three and ninety four seasons?
- 1:56:27Speaker 8: Chris Lade?
- 1:56:28Speaker 9: Chris Slade is correct.
- 1:56:29Speaker 5: That would be my guess.
- 1:56:30Speaker 9: How many how many consecutive seasons did Vincent Brown lead
- 1:56:34Speaker 9: the team in tackles?
- 1:56:36Speaker 5: Seven incorrect?
