Latest / Off the Air / Lynch & Taco Show Off The Air Podcast: O.O.Y.M...?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, I think we're all set here to get
- 0:02Speaker 1: underway with our first episode of The Lynch and Taco Show,
- 0:06Speaker 1: off their podcast for twenty twenty six.
- 0:09Speaker 2: This is a big day for Pat Lynch, not just
- 0:13Speaker 2: because it's the eighth of January, but was I correct?
- 0:18Speaker 1: I am so nervous, dude.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You can't be. You have no control. Remember what I
- 0:22Speaker 2: always used to say, we're talking about the Miami game tonight?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Was I correct?
- 0:27Speaker 1: College football semi playoff final Miami ole Miss?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Was I correct during the show earlier when I said
- 0:34Speaker 2: this is probably your biggest day in sports in the
- 0:37Speaker 2: last twenty years, It is? Yeah, I think so, because
- 0:41Speaker 2: the other one would be the Canes versus.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Let me, I'll rewind. I'll tell you exactly, please do.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I've been a lifelong Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Fan because he grew up originally in South.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Forlorida South Forward before I moved here, and I was
- 0:59Speaker 1: actually season ticket holder for the Hurricanes for a good
- 1:03Speaker 1: chunk of their last run where they were, you know,
- 1:07Speaker 1: year in and year out, really good. Yeah? You?
- 1:10Speaker 2: And what was his name?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Really cool? Dude? Oh my buddy, Ed ed still is
- 1:15Speaker 1: Ed ed Still is and he's I believe he'll probably
- 1:18Speaker 1: be in attendance tonight out in Arizona, which is really
- 1:21Speaker 1: the one of the last games I went to with
- 1:24Speaker 1: him on a road trip, because we would always go
- 1:26Speaker 1: to a road trip. And it happen to have been
- 1:28Speaker 1: the Fiesta Bowl, the much valleyhooed Fiesta Bowl that I
- 1:31Speaker 1: bitch and complained about NonStop against Ohio State, where Miami
- 1:35Speaker 1: was favored to win back to back championship back and
- 1:38Speaker 1: it was two thousand from the two thousand and two season,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but the game was in two thousand and three and
- 1:43Speaker 1: that late bizarre call and overtime that allowed Ohio State
- 1:47Speaker 1: to win. And I've ever since then, Hay stated, hated,
- 1:52Speaker 1: hated Ohio State. I respect Ohio State. Don't get me wrong,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and don't be pissed at me if I say I
- 1:57Speaker 1: hate Ohio State. Ohio State fans feel the same way
- 2:00Speaker 1: about Michigan. Okay, it's that kind of deal. So Ever
- 2:06Speaker 1: since then, it's been nothing but disappointment. So twenty plus
- 2:11Speaker 1: years of disappointment. The great teams that they had suddenly
- 2:16Speaker 1: just went away, and there'd be a year or two
- 2:19Speaker 1: where they might look like, Okay, maybe they got a
- 2:21Speaker 1: little something going, but inevitably they screw up.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And he even if he heard Ohio State for quite
- 2:29Speaker 2: some time, I'm talking well over a decade. If he
- 2:32Speaker 2: heard Ohio State or we have some Buckeye listeners that
- 2:37Speaker 2: would call in or text in, he would get red
- 2:40Speaker 2: in the face and pissed off. And I've said it
- 2:43Speaker 2: from day one. I know that you're nervous about this game,
- 2:46Speaker 2: But what did I say before? You have absolutely no
- 2:49Speaker 2: control over a football game. You have to watch it
- 2:54Speaker 2: like that.
- 2:55Speaker 1: They are one win away from going back to the
- 2:59Speaker 1: National Championship, which is in Miami, in their home stadium.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You couldn't write a better script.
- 3:06Speaker 2: If they make it. Will you go to that game?
- 3:10Speaker 1: No? The tickets are insane. I've already started looking at
- 3:12Speaker 1: the ticket prices. Three thousand dollars, oh god, oh hell,
- 3:16Speaker 1: you don't even know who's in the final yet.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and sitting on the comfort of your own caliby
- 3:20Speaker 2: right right would be a lot better than a nosebleed view.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And just to let you know how drastically ticket prices
- 3:27Speaker 1: have changed, that Fiesta Bowl National Championship game, which is
- 3:31Speaker 1: I've been to two National Championship games that the Canes
- 3:35Speaker 1: were in all right, saw them beat Nebraska in the
- 3:38Speaker 1: Rose Bowl to win the National Championship, and then I
- 3:41Speaker 1: went to that Fiesta Bowl game as well. I still
- 3:45Speaker 1: have the ticket stubs, the price of the ticket itself
- 3:48Speaker 1: that we paid. No, it's one hundred and twenty five
- 3:51Speaker 1: dollars as a season ticket holder the National Championship.
- 3:56Speaker 2: What about non season ticket holders, I don't know, probably
- 3:59Speaker 2: like four hundred bucks something back then.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Probably, but yeah, just to show you how much the
- 4:04Speaker 1: economic have changed. About trying to go to never mind
- 4:07Speaker 1: college football, but any live event, whether it's sports or
- 4:11Speaker 1: just you know, music or show or something.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I've never understood. I mean just because it's me and
- 4:17Speaker 2: I've will never bought a concert ticket.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But I'm still unbelievable.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But I cannot I can't understand why somebody would spend
- 4:28Speaker 2: like three grand on a ticket. Or maybe it's just
- 4:33Speaker 2: it's not that I'm cheap by any means, but maybe
- 4:36Speaker 2: my frugality where I'm frugal, where it's kind of like,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know what, I'm going to put that three thousand
- 4:42Speaker 2: dollars towards something else.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's the way you approach and frame things. I mean
- 4:47Speaker 1: that people have different motivations as to why well, and
- 4:50Speaker 1: people have different levels of money. You just took the
- 4:53Speaker 1: words out of my mouth. There's there's obviously people who
- 4:57Speaker 1: don't even bat and eyelash it forking over a huge
- 5:00Speaker 1: sums of money to do insane things. My buddy Alan
- 5:03Speaker 1: just and if you're in that position, I'm jealous. Color
- 5:06Speaker 1: me jealous.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, my buddy Allen, he's been to the sphere, he's
- 5:10Speaker 2: been to every state in the US. Just finished I
- 5:14Speaker 2: think he just finished his list with his Fargo trip.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Obviously done well for himself.
- 5:19Speaker 2: No, right, he retired at a very young age.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Does a victor go to spoils?
- 5:24Speaker 2: There you go the uh you quote that just.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Flip side though, and where you're coming from, I would
- 5:32Speaker 1: venture to say that most of us don't have three
- 5:35Speaker 1: thousand dollars just to really nilly throw at some event
- 5:39Speaker 1: that you'd like to go to.
- 5:41Speaker 2: No, And then, I mean.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Even if you really really want to go, doing that
- 5:44Speaker 1: would just be dumb.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's that was what I was getting at. Plus,
- 5:49Speaker 2: it's not just three thousand dollars. Just like you know,
- 5:52Speaker 2: you're talking a hotel room, you're talking.
- 5:54Speaker 1: How you're gonna how you're gonna get.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Their transportation there, then you're talking about parking there.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all said and done. You were You know,
- 6:02Speaker 1: you can't even afford the first beer, and you don't
- 6:05Speaker 1: even want to get what the price of the beer is. Well, anyway,
- 6:08Speaker 1: So nervous excitement for tonight seven thirty Fiesta Bowl, and
- 6:14Speaker 1: I'm hoping that Miami is able to erase the festaval
- 6:17Speaker 1: demon that has existed for twenty plus years.
- 6:20Speaker 2: What time you taking your nap? Are you aiming for?
- 6:24Speaker 1: Well, we'll get done here, I'll get home, I get
- 6:27Speaker 1: a few things I got to mop up there, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: then I try to get an hour or two quick
- 6:32Speaker 1: snooze this afternoon.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Okay, cool?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Then you know they win getting here tomorrow morning's gonna
- 6:38Speaker 1: be a breeze. I in fact, I probably won't go
- 6:40Speaker 1: to sleep. No, just you know, zoom right in, be
- 6:43Speaker 1: ready to hit the air. They lose, on the other hand, uh,
- 6:48Speaker 1: be a you just don't want to be a sad sack.
- 6:51Speaker 2: No, you don't want to be a sad sack. No,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you don't need to be a sad sack. Hey, you
- 6:56Speaker 2: got a hell of a football team, and from the
- 6:58Speaker 2: looks of it, you're gonna have a hell of a
- 6:59Speaker 2: foot team next year as well. So I have a
- 7:03Speaker 2: neighbor that it's funny.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Oh, we should probably real quick before that. I don't
- 7:06Speaker 1: mean to cut you off. We want to reiterate something
- 7:09Speaker 1: we said during the show today and this has been
- 7:11Speaker 1: an ongoing gentlemen's agreement that we have and we encourage
- 7:15Speaker 1: you to do the same, especially if you live in
- 7:17Speaker 1: the state of Florida. We have the outlook that we
- 7:21Speaker 1: all have our teams that we root for, whether it's
- 7:24Speaker 1: college or pro or whatever. And if that team happens
- 7:28Speaker 1: to be in the state of Florida and it does
- 7:30Speaker 1: not make it to the playoffs or the championship or whatever,
- 7:34Speaker 1: but another team from the state may we think it
- 7:37Speaker 1: makes sense you want to root for hometown and home
- 7:40Speaker 1: state teams. So we hope that anybody who may be
- 7:44Speaker 1: a Gators fan, as much as painful as it may be,
- 7:47Speaker 1: or a Seminoles fan or UCF Knights fan or whatever
- 7:50Speaker 1: you got to pull from Miami, right if you live
- 7:52Speaker 1: in Florida. I think so.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I've always thought that, and I'll ask one of a
- 7:58Speaker 2: lady I know that as a die hard fan, I'll
- 8:01Speaker 2: ask her today if I see her at the gym.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And look, I do the same. And I'm on the
- 8:05Speaker 1: record doing this show pulling for you know, any number
- 8:09Speaker 1: of teams that have you know, made it further than
- 8:13Speaker 1: my teams of preference because I've got used to doing
- 8:15Speaker 1: it over the year, especially with the Dolphins.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Good god, man, you think they're gonna get Harbaugh?
- 8:23Speaker 1: It sounds like there's been some feelers put out to
- 8:26Speaker 1: gauging his interest. I don't know if you're him.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I looked at the amount of teams that reached out.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I saw a stat yesterday the amount of teams that
- 8:34Speaker 2: reached out to him within the first half a day,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you know, when the announcement was made.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, before the end of that day.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I think it was like six teams.
- 8:46Speaker 1: What surprised me. So, if you are John Harbaugh and
- 8:50Speaker 1: you know the Dolphins are interested in you, Stephen Ross
- 8:53Speaker 1: will pay big time. He's been not you know, he's
- 8:57Speaker 1: has a track record of overpaying would be sometimes underperforming
- 9:01Speaker 1: individuals within the organization, which is half the problem. But
- 9:05Speaker 1: if you're John Harbaugh, are you going to coach the
- 9:07Speaker 1: Dolphins given what you know their situation is right now? Yes? Why?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Because I'm going to be in South Florida. I can
- 9:15Speaker 2: bring my family to South Florida, have that nice you know,
- 9:21Speaker 2: golf in the off time and this and.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That you're playing. You're playing to write into my South
- 9:27Speaker 1: Florida theory that I you know, I've told you about.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I think a lot of that lack of success is
- 9:32Speaker 1: because of all those distractions that come with living in
- 9:35Speaker 1: the further south you go in the state.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm just saying I think it would just
- 9:39Speaker 2: be a wise decision. And uh, the quarterback that he
- 9:43Speaker 2: has to work with, he can Quinn yours. He can
- 9:47Speaker 2: just hear me out. Quinn was he's in the NFL
- 9:50Speaker 2: for a reason. Well, okay, So but if if Harbaugh
- 9:55Speaker 2: is as good as he is, because he is, he's
- 9:57Speaker 2: a hell of a coach. When you look at.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Eighteen years with the Ravens, yeah yeah, and look at
- 10:01Speaker 1: how many super Bowl and how many you know, play whatever.
- 10:05Speaker 2: So he can find somebody or do it himself to
- 10:11Speaker 2: to mold that kid if he's gonna be good or
- 10:15Speaker 2: and and then you have two as a backup, because
- 10:18Speaker 2: you don't want to pay off his stuff.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I when they extended that contract to his Beyonce, he
- 10:24Speaker 1: mentioned that earlier.
- 10:25Speaker 2: In the week that was we all shook our heads.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That was a wrist slicer right there. It really self
- 10:31Speaker 1: inflicted wound man, financial wound albatross, financial albatross. We'll see
- 10:38Speaker 1: what happens. Another former Dolphin coach, Brian Flores, he was
- 10:44Speaker 1: the one who sued everybody for being racist, who was
- 10:46Speaker 1: with the Vikings as an assistant. Sounds like he's gonna
- 10:49Speaker 1: end up being with the Raiders.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Okay, so we'll perfect see.
- 10:54Speaker 1: What happens there. Uh, these all these coaching openings, not
- 10:58Speaker 1: just in college but in pro. It's everybody's so quick
- 11:02Speaker 1: to fire their coach, but it's like, you gotta look
- 11:05Speaker 1: at what's available and who's gonna fill the shoes.
- 11:08Speaker 2: I was watching McAfee yesterday.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Shocker, I still think fire and Harbaugh was nuts, absolutely nuts.
- 11:15Speaker 2: They said it was going to happen a while ago,
- 11:18Speaker 2: said there's a very good chance it's between him and
- 11:21Speaker 2: what's his name from Pitt Tomlin.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It's but you make the playoffs, all of a sudden,
- 11:27Speaker 1: all that noise goes away exactly.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But anyway, if they did a graphic of available coaches
- 11:35Speaker 2: that are good coaches and pat it was just boom
- 11:40Speaker 2: boom boom b.
- 11:42Speaker 1: There were a lot. John Gruden needs to be back
- 11:45Speaker 1: in a head coaching position, whether it's pro or college.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Agree.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he got railroaded. He got done dirty by the
- 11:53Speaker 1: NFL man and I put it right to the commissioner,
- 11:57Speaker 1: Roger Goodell. He did not like Grood, and I think
- 12:01Speaker 1: that he kind of it's an escape goat. No, he
- 12:06Speaker 1: his all of a sudden private communications are you know,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, I'm not justifying the things that Gruden had
- 12:14Speaker 1: in his emails, but that's.
- 12:15Speaker 2: What I wanted to verify.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Well, yeah, who who right now listening or watching this
- 12:21Speaker 1: hasn't said, whether verbally or in an email or a text,
- 12:26Speaker 1: something that if any person who didn't know you saw
- 12:29Speaker 1: go wha, well what is this guy? A terrible person?
- 12:33Speaker 1: You are?
- 12:33Speaker 2: I just wanted to make the point that you don't
- 12:37Speaker 2: back what he said, because I know you don't and
- 12:39Speaker 2: I don't and I don't either. No, I just didn't
- 12:41Speaker 2: want somebody to miss hear or missee this. And yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 2: it's just the ship flag goes up and we're going great.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Someone is always out to get you. Yeah, and and
- 12:51Speaker 1: that's you know.
- 12:52Speaker 2: That's sad.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It is you could be the nicest person in the world,
- 12:55Speaker 1: doesn't matter. There's still somebody who don't like you, yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and wants to get you.
- 13:00Speaker 2: So Gruden, I'm with you that he should be back
- 13:03Speaker 2: in coaching a team because he has a real talent.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Is his brother still coaching John Jay?
- 13:09Speaker 1: I don't know where. Where the hell did he end
- 13:13Speaker 1: up going after the Redskins? He was an assistant god Bengals.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm not sure where he is, if he is anywhere
- 13:23Speaker 1: right now, let me see what are you looking to
- 13:26Speaker 1: see off the top.
- 13:30Speaker 2: As of early twenty twenty six, Jay Gruden is involved
- 13:33Speaker 2: in coaching All Star games like the twenty twenty six
- 13:36Speaker 2: Hula Bowl with his brother John. Okay, he wait, but
- 13:40Speaker 2: he also serves as a consultant for the La Ram.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Okay, all right, all right, all right, there you go.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Uh No, we love him.
- 13:50Speaker 2: He For those that don't know, Jay Gruden used to
- 13:53Speaker 2: be on our show every once a week.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yeah, during when we had to Orlando Predators and when
- 13:58Speaker 1: the Predators were like, I must see you on Friday nights. Uh.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Jay would be in here every Friday with us. And
- 14:04Speaker 1: he uh, let's let's just say he liked to have
- 14:07Speaker 1: a lot of fun with us, and he was totally
- 14:09Speaker 1: he fit great with us. Oh yeah, totally great.
- 14:11Speaker 2: He had the total dry sense of humor and it
- 14:14Speaker 2: at the beginning we were like, huh, is this gonna
- 14:17Speaker 2: is this gonna work? And then all of a sudden
- 14:19Speaker 2: got some angles and I had who was it? Uh?
- 14:22Speaker 2: Troy Troy Aikman, Troy Aikman and uh and Joe Buck
- 14:27Speaker 2: wasn't no Troy Aikman in one of them breaking headboards.
- 14:32Speaker 1: We don't need to re live that. But we found
- 14:35Speaker 1: an opening with his sense of humor and walked right
- 14:38Speaker 1: through that door and moving forward, it was just great.
- 14:41Speaker 2: He'd be on I just gotta tell this one. He'd
- 14:44Speaker 2: be on a bus full of like his kids on.
- 14:49Speaker 1: A field trip or something at one time.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Man, and so he couldn't come in.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So we're doing call us. We're doing it via phone.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And he's like, Taco, you gotta stop this right now.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I'm a us full of kids and he's muttering it,
- 15:03Speaker 2: I'm out of us full of goods as a.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Cheveron, don't ask me questions like that that I can't answer.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, god, I hope he's doing well.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Make good, dude, all right, what was it you were
- 15:16Speaker 1: going to say a few minutes ago?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Forgot?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Okay, oh oh, the other thing about not wanting to
- 15:21Speaker 1: get yourself in trouble. You've got to give me a
- 15:24Speaker 1: little credit for tapping the brakes this morning. Is pissed
- 15:26Speaker 1: off as I've been the last three days for not
- 15:28Speaker 1: burying a certain company.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I give you credit. That's what I've heard
- 15:33Speaker 2: about for the last three days because he's been getting
- 15:36Speaker 2: he's been getting just dicked by a company.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And no, you shouldn't call him. Internet went out at
- 15:42Speaker 1: my house on Monday morning, which you know. That's look.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I think for most people that's considered a vital utility
- 15:51Speaker 1: these days, I would.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Be no TV, no internet for work.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I when I get done here with the radio show
- 15:59Speaker 1: each morning, I am online doing additional duties that I
- 16:02Speaker 1: have with this company, and I'm allowed to do that
- 16:05Speaker 1: from my studio that I have built for myself at home.
- 16:09Speaker 1: None of that works if I can't connect. Sure, I
- 16:11Speaker 1: can go on and talk to myself and record things,
- 16:15Speaker 1: but I can't get it to where it needs to go.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And I've been dealing with that for three days, and
- 16:20Speaker 1: it finally came back up yesterday. Afternoon at five point thirty.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry in a situation, in a day and age,
- 16:26Speaker 1: with the way technology is, when there was no cataclysmic
- 16:29Speaker 1: weather condition to cause that where you would understand, we understand,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like after a hurricane or something, you're gonna be without this,
- 16:36Speaker 1: this and that for a while. Yeah, none of that
- 16:38Speaker 1: one on. It took two days pretty much for them
- 16:40Speaker 1: to even acknowledge we didn't have service.
- 16:42Speaker 2: How long are you gonna wait after you get this
- 16:45Speaker 2: new service hooked up to drop them?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Oh? So most a lot of you now have the
- 16:52Speaker 1: option with one, two, three, in my case, four different
- 16:56Speaker 1: companies offering fiber internet. Sir, it's driven the prices way down.
- 17:03Speaker 1: And how long am I going to wait? Well, let
- 17:05Speaker 1: me see if this technician has texted me back yet.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Who was I had an appointment for three o'clock this
- 17:10Speaker 1: afternoon to hook up the new Yeah, the new competitor.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Uh all right, it says, cool, thanks, Yeah, I'll be
- 17:19Speaker 1: there early. I said, I'll be home by about eleven
- 17:22Speaker 1: or so. So if it's up and running today, I'll
- 17:26Speaker 1: cancel today.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Sure see, I'm the kind of guy, and that's why
- 17:30Speaker 2: I asked it. When even if the new one is
- 17:34Speaker 2: up and running. I'm waiting a week or so just
- 17:38Speaker 2: to feel out.
- 17:39Speaker 1: You want to know what really just sealed my pissed
- 17:42Speaker 1: offness on this. There were approximately ten homes affected by
- 17:47Speaker 1: this outage, and that explains probably this company's attitude towards
- 17:51Speaker 1: the big scheme of things. We'll get to it when
- 17:55Speaker 1: we get to it, but for two days to even
- 17:57Speaker 1: find so. One of my neighbors, who has service through
- 18:00Speaker 1: the same company and is out as well, was walking,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I guess, walked up to the elementary school that's near
- 18:06Speaker 1: my house to get her kid and walk home with
- 18:08Speaker 1: them after school yesterday. That is the area where the
- 18:11Speaker 1: repair work was being done. Because I saw them yesterday
- 18:14Speaker 1: when I drove home, four or five vehicles from the company.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I go, Okay, finally, maybe they're gonna get this fixed,
- 18:21Speaker 1: because all the cabinets and stuff that feed our neighborhood
- 18:24Speaker 1: are up there near this elementary school. She saw them too,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and like walked up to him and was like start
- 18:30Speaker 1: asking questions. Hey, this is the third day we've been Listen, lady,
- 18:35Speaker 1: just be glad we're getting it fixed. We're going to
- 18:37Speaker 1: be you know. They go basically alluded that they were
- 18:41Speaker 1: being sold and they've been told that they're being sold,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and it sounded like these guys just didn't want to
- 18:47Speaker 1: hear from her and really didn't give a crap in general.
- 18:50Speaker 1: That's where I really got pissed when he told me
- 18:52Speaker 1: that they're rude to her. She's a pain customer, She's
- 18:55Speaker 1: just trying to get information. She works at home too. Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and it's just it is a amazing And you couple that,
- 19:02Speaker 1: you couple that with the whole where you're trying to
- 19:06Speaker 1: get answers as to what's going on and you get
- 19:08Speaker 1: stuck in this customer service automated slash. You finally get
- 19:12Speaker 1: a human on the phone. They're offshore and they're reading
- 19:14Speaker 1: the goddamn script and they will not deviate from the
- 19:17Speaker 1: script and they don't know their ask from a hole
- 19:19Speaker 1: in the ground. Uh huh oh god.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I've had them where they have to tell me, sir,
- 19:24Speaker 2: you may not speak to me like that. I'm like, bullshit.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I've been sitting on this line for you know, X
- 19:30Speaker 2: amount of time. You said, only ten people and then
- 19:33Speaker 2: we'll get off this. But you said, you know, only
- 19:35Speaker 2: ten homes affected. But we all have to remember what
- 19:39Speaker 2: does a home have in it. Your average home has
- 19:42Speaker 2: a kid or two, a couple, all four of them
- 19:46Speaker 2: are effected. So now it's not just ten homes, it's
- 19:49Speaker 2: about sixty people possibly give or take.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And for folks who work from home, yes, that's causing
- 19:56Speaker 1: you're losing money. You're losing money in productivity.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Is the lady gonna drop them to your neighbor?
- 20:03Speaker 1: I don't. I haven't seen her since. I'll probably see
- 20:04Speaker 1: her when I'm walking the dog later. See what she uh,
- 20:07Speaker 1: see what her vibe is. I'm gonna turn her on
- 20:09Speaker 1: to what uh what I got happening here. I mean literally,
- 20:12Speaker 1: when I reached out to them, they're like, yeah, how
- 20:14Speaker 1: about tomorrow, let's do it, So we'll see it. We'll
- 20:17Speaker 1: see how that goes.
- 20:18Speaker 2: And then what I'll do is, uh, you have that
- 20:22Speaker 2: for X amount of time, if it's available to me,
- 20:24Speaker 2: then I'll.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Well, you've been talking about switching your provider for it's
- 20:28Speaker 1: going on three years now.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I know. But it's the email. My wife has the
- 20:34Speaker 2: original email, and I just have to get her to
- 20:36Speaker 2: pull pull the trigger and say, okay, just.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Switch to a Gmail account, take it wherever you want exactly.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's simple. But you know she has contacts from over
- 20:48Speaker 2: the year.
- 20:51Speaker 1: You know, you just don't want to be You would
- 20:52Speaker 1: just want plug and play. I don't want to be
- 20:55Speaker 1: bothered with of.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Course, that's why I bought that new laptop. Computer was
- 21:00Speaker 2: bricked up and it could have been fixed. I said, yeah,
- 21:04Speaker 2: that thing, it's old.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I was sitting here watching Bob before he did the
- 21:07Speaker 1: podcast today. We got a directive to adjust our signatures
- 21:12Speaker 1: on our company emails here and it was back before
- 21:15Speaker 1: the holidays, and he had blown off that until now.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I forgot about it because I really didn't care.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So yeah, Heed, you want to make the adjoint? Yeah? Yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 1: When did you do that? When she asked us to?
- 21:28Speaker 1: And You're getting so frustrated? He goes, well, how do
- 21:32Speaker 1: you do it? I go, gives you the step by
- 21:34Speaker 1: step in the email, and.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I followed it without asking you to come around, but
- 21:39Speaker 2: because normally.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I would, He's clearly getting frustrated as health. So I'm
- 21:42Speaker 1: thinking to myself while he's doing this all right, how
- 21:45Speaker 1: long until he just asked me to do it for
- 21:47Speaker 1: and he I got to give you credit. You made
- 21:50Speaker 1: your way through it with some initial hiccups, but you
- 21:56Speaker 1: got it done.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Do you know why I made my way through it
- 21:59Speaker 2: because as of in the last two days, I forget
- 22:03Speaker 2: what day I also read or received that self evaluation
- 22:09Speaker 2: where I have to evaluate myself as a as an employee.
- 22:13Speaker 2: And this is a little deep, but when Pat used
- 22:17Speaker 2: to run w j R R, he was obviously the manager.
- 22:21Speaker 2: So even though we worked together and did a show
- 22:24Speaker 2: together for years and years and years, he was technically
- 22:27Speaker 2: my manager. So he'd have to fill out and critique
- 22:31Speaker 2: me at a job, and he'd eat every single time.
- 22:35Speaker 2: He'd go needs to work on paperwork skills. I suck
- 22:39Speaker 2: at paperwork. I sucked back then. I still do and
- 22:42Speaker 2: now that my handwriting is getting messier and then making
- 22:46Speaker 2: the spaces on the doctor's thing smaller. Ah, I was
- 22:52Speaker 2: my shit man. I had one thing done and when
- 22:55Speaker 2: I did my full body scan and and you're all
- 22:59Speaker 2: over the My buddy Judy looked at him and she goes, oh,
- 23:04Speaker 2: you put the wrong date.
- 23:05Speaker 1: She says, you have the shakes or something. I go, no,
- 23:09Speaker 1: my handwriting socks. I told you that.
- 23:11Speaker 2: And I hate paperwork. I just had to do a
- 23:14Speaker 2: lot of paperwork lately.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So uh, paperwork technically stuff in the computer. Yeah, for
- 23:21Speaker 1: modern reference.
- 23:23Speaker 2: No, but at a doctor you have to write it.
- 23:25Speaker 1: No, I hear you. Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 2: And and specifically when I saw that directive come out,
- 23:31Speaker 2: this is the latest want to do the self evaluation.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I thought, Pat, if he was still my boss, he'd
- 23:37Speaker 2: be saying needs to work on paperwork skills or whatever.
- 23:41Speaker 2: And I said, I'm not going to ask him how
- 23:43Speaker 2: to do this A little last thing. I was waiting
- 23:47Speaker 2: for it.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I know you too well, I said, Okay, be honest,
- 23:53Speaker 1: if you weren't able to figure it out, who would
- 23:55Speaker 1: you have gone to.
- 23:57Speaker 2: I would have gone home and done it.
- 23:59Speaker 1: And if you still couldn't figured it out, well, I
- 24:00Speaker 1: would have.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Walked into my daughter's room and said, you got another job.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Don't I tell you what? I had dark time for this.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, with benefit of having a daughter in engineering, I
- 24:15Speaker 2: had to put together. I didn't buy it for my wife.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I did.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I paid for it, but she requested a treadmill.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I just didn't want to think that.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I scot, I'm gonna get my wife a treadmill like
- 24:27Speaker 2: a Neanderthal. No, she requested one. Then it was sitting
- 24:31Speaker 2: by the front door in a box. Can you see
- 24:34Speaker 2: me installing a treadmill?
- 24:36Speaker 1: Hell?
- 24:36Speaker 2: No, but having a daughter in it as an engineer major,
- 24:41Speaker 2: I said, hey, how'd you like to make twenty bucks?
- 24:45Speaker 2: Because I was gonna call my handyman, handyman and Herbert,
- 24:48Speaker 2: and I said, no, I got an engineer in this
- 24:52Speaker 2: back room.
- 24:53Speaker 1: She's been at GE and.
- 24:55Speaker 2: All these different companies and they have them doing that
- 24:57Speaker 2: shit obviously, so I.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Know she knows as how.
- 25:00Speaker 2: And uh, can you put together mom's treadmill?
- 25:05Speaker 1: There? I saw her doing it. Well, there was not together.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I mean the base comes with it, you the top.
- 25:10Speaker 2: There, there was way out of me.
- 25:14Speaker 1: You could have probably.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Pulled it off. But then yeah, so it bop.
- 25:19Speaker 1: That's it. That's what they call him.
- 25:21Speaker 2: No, I just I know that I'm not qualified for
- 25:24Speaker 2: certain things, and uh, putting stuff together's not one of them.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Hey look, I yeah, I'm right there with you. I
- 25:32Speaker 1: if I take my time, I usually can get through it.
- 25:36Speaker 1: And in fact, I told you you know, patience is
- 25:40Speaker 1: not my best virtue, and it's a glaring flaw that
- 25:43Speaker 1: I have. I forced myself a couple of years ago
- 25:48Speaker 1: to put together this piece of furniture that had a
- 25:50Speaker 1: million parts I remember, and lighting and all this crap
- 25:55Speaker 1: that was in this box from Taiwan or wherever the
- 25:57Speaker 1: hell it came from. And it was one of those
- 26:00Speaker 1: packs of instructions that there's all there is is steps
- 26:04Speaker 1: and uh, schematics. There's really no you know, the three
- 26:09Speaker 1: D drawings and stuff. And I'm usually that head explodes,
- 26:13Speaker 1: like you know what. I got to work on this.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I picked a Sunday morning when it was nice and quiet,
- 26:19Speaker 1: nothing going on, and got it up and set up.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And my wife comes walking out after sleeping in. She goes, who.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Came by and help? Did Scott come over and put
- 26:30Speaker 2: this together?
- 26:31Speaker 1: Lesser? React? She was pleasantly surprised that I was able
- 26:34Speaker 1: to do that.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I got four letters for you. Oh y am out
- 26:40Speaker 2: of your mind. If you think that I'm going to
- 26:43Speaker 2: put that thing together? Black the black uh uh? But
- 26:48Speaker 2: the griddle the Blackstone, I wouldn't play. I wasn't even
- 26:53Speaker 2: trying that because I bought it online. So handyman Herbert
- 26:57Speaker 2: was called.
- 26:57Speaker 1: He's hardware for those they bring him right over our yourself.
- 27:00Speaker 1: You don't even have to bring it home.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Don't you remember? I had the Blackstone first because I
- 27:05Speaker 2: found some insane deal where I saved like over one
- 27:09Speaker 2: hundred dollars on it by buying it online. So, hey, Herbert,
- 27:13Speaker 2: you know fitty bucks. He looked at me, He goes,
- 27:16Speaker 2: mister Bob, that's what you call mister bob. He said,
- 27:20Speaker 2: mister Bob. This is tough. And he's in the garage.
- 27:24Speaker 2: It was summertime. Some wet his balls off, and I'm like,
- 27:27Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, Hey, Pat, it is it took up
- 27:30Speaker 2: my entire garage floor. All right, but now with my
- 27:36Speaker 2: daughter home engineer, get to it all right? With that,
- 27:41Speaker 2: he ain't paying rent.
- 27:42Speaker 1: With that, Welcome to twenty twenty six.
- 27:45Speaker 2: To be fair that he's not paying rent anyway, but helping. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 2: welcome to twenty twenty six.
- 27:51Speaker 1: What lies ahead? Who knows?
- 27:55Speaker 2: I can tell you this?
- 27:56Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 27:57Speaker 2: One thing cool that lies ahead is it's Pat Lynch
- 28:02Speaker 2: and Eyes thirty year anniversary together in June.
- 28:06Speaker 1: June. June of ninety six is when we started this
- 28:09Speaker 1: whole mess for an hour at lunch.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Uh huh. Because I was already here, Pat was with, uh,
- 28:15Speaker 2: maybe we'll save that for next podcast for that. Yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 2: I just looked at the the DMS coming in and
- 28:24Speaker 2: cement heads on there.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Oh God, all caps, all caps.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Hey, lets you taco Shane Cement aka cement Head, and
- 28:32Speaker 2: then I look at it and says, Dolphins to your root
- 28:35Speaker 2: for the Florida team theory or the thing that we do.
- 28:39Speaker 2: We both agree on Dolphins fan here pulling for the Jags.
- 28:44Speaker 2: That Jags team is a strong, strong team.
- 28:48Speaker 1: They're gonna get through the Bills. Don't care.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I just I'm telling you. Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So with that, welcome to twenty twenty six. We do
- 28:57Speaker 1: appreciate the support over all these years, and we hope
- 29:00Speaker 1: we still have many more to come, and you all
- 29:03Speaker 1: are the big part that ensures that happens. And we
- 29:06Speaker 1: don't forget that for one single moment ever.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Say it all the time on the air and off
- 29:11Speaker 2: the air. We don't have a show without you listening.
- 29:13Speaker 2: So thank you for supporting it for so long.
- 29:16Speaker 1: All right, everybody that'll do it for this week's off
- 29:19Speaker 1: the air podcast. Fresh episodes pretty much every Thursday unless
- 29:22Speaker 1: we're on you know, vacation or whatever.
- 29:25Speaker 2: And good morning to everybody who DMed in. Sorry if
- 29:28Speaker 2: we didn't hit all of you.
- 29:29Speaker 1: All Right, have an awesome day and spread a word
- 29:33Speaker 1: about this podcast. If you think you know somebody who
- 29:35Speaker 1: might enjoy what we do, turn them on to we'd
- 29:37Speaker 1: appreciate that.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Just talking about nothing, say where it.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Goes, it goes it. With that, we just go bye bye,
- 29:43Speaker 1: see you.
