- 0:07Welcome to Keeping It Real with Erin and Terry.
- 0:10Sponsored by Imperfection by Erin.
- 0:13And produced by Magic Door Studio.
- 0:15On this week's episode, we talk about public life and the fact
- 0:22that home can't wait. No.
- 0:25People see the panto, they see the photo shoots, they see the
- 0:30gigs, but they don't really see what goes on behind closed
- 0:36doors. And behind that front door there
- 0:40is a whole other 24/7 job that nobody gets to see.
- 0:45And believe me, it has 0 schedule so it's open the air
- 0:5024/7, anything goes. So we are going to talk about
- 0:57what is actually like trying to juggle it all, and we're going
- 1:00to talk about this week especially because I'm not gonna
- 1:04lie, it has been a tough week. Very tough so.
- 1:10Emotionally, emotionally, physically, mentally, mentally.
- 1:15So in true Erin style, she has the lunch of her new jumpers.
- 1:22She's doing a pop up show with Denise and Pell in Newbridge.
- 1:27She's renovating her sitting room.
- 1:31Yes, and I love the way she says.
- 1:32Her, her, her. It is we, we, we.
- 1:36It's all we, we, we. But what I'll say is the reason
- 1:39I'm saying she is because if I didn't do that.
- 1:44Right, so she comes up with all the ideas.
- 1:46I'll come up with all the ideas and Terry just has to be part of
- 1:49it. So this is what I mean.
- 1:52So this is what I'm saying. This is what I really looks
- 1:55like, right? So I come up with all these.
- 1:57Ideas. Listen, can I just say one thing
- 1:58as well? Thank you so much for having me
- 2:01on your podcast today. I really appreciate the invite.
- 2:05You're so welcome. Thanks for like.
- 2:09I know your lip is actually moving this week.
- 2:11Yeah, my, my Botox is frozen up a little bit.
- 2:14I kind of miss it just to look good though.
- 2:18Absolutely. OK, so I juggle a lot of balls,
- 2:23OK. Yeah, really.
- 2:25And Terry says I, well, I throw the balls in the air, yes.
- 2:29And then I walk off and he has to catch I.
- 2:31Have to catch them all. OK, so this is the reality the
- 2:35stock lands. Where does the stock land?
- 2:40Yeah, at our house. At our house, so we pick see.
- 2:46Do I use we when it's actually Terry?
- 2:49Yes, you're mean. So it's we whenever you you get
- 2:52the gist, ladies and gentlemen, you get the.
- 2:54Gist. So when I say we, that really
- 2:56means Terry. And when I say me, it means that
- 3:01means both. No, that means I brainstorm the
- 3:04idea. And they're usually amazing
- 3:06ideas, by the way. Right.
- 3:07Go on, carry on. I'll give you that one.
- 3:08Yeah. You are brainstorming.
- 3:09Yeah. OK, so just.
- 3:11You brought a storm to my brain 12 years ago and I had one left.
- 3:14Tell no. Tell them what you you were
- 3:18reading your star sign before you met me and what?
- 3:20I said, Oh yes, I was, I used to do this, these tire card
- 3:24readings and all I kept on saying was I thought it was
- 3:26actually a RIP off. Yeah, to a wind me up, right.
- 3:29All I kept saying was your life is going to get very, very busy
- 3:34very soon, so put on your seat belt and hold outside.
- 3:38And I was like this is a wind up, this is a wind up.
- 3:41And hence the tire cards were right.
- 3:45So this week alone, OK, we had stock landing for imperfection
- 3:51branch for our jumpers. Yeah, we're also getting ready
- 3:55for a pop up show. And what happens there is is we
- 3:59are the branch. We have to come up with campaign
- 4:04ideas. Sorry, we just before you on the
- 4:06day the stock landed. Yeah, real quick.
- 4:08I couldn't even be there to actually accept the stock.
- 4:11Yeah, because I had to bring my math to the hospital.
- 4:15So these are the things that people don't see, they're in.
- 4:18For check UPS and all that. Kind of stuff house they're in.
- 4:22We do everything. We come up with all of the
- 4:25concepts. We are the team.
- 4:27Although we did hire somebody recently to help us with social
- 4:31media because it was just too much.
- 4:34And picking, packing photo shoots.
- 4:38So I asked Terry to come to Belfast with me to do the photo
- 4:44shoot because obviously I have the model, I have to be the
- 4:47model and the reality of all this is, is we are just a very
- 4:51small brand building. I think the best way to describe
- 4:55it is you are the face and the marketer right?
- 4:59IE seller. I am the behind the scenes
- 5:04logistics, packing, getting them out the door, doing all the
- 5:07admin stuff, that kind of thing. So it walks in that way for us.
- 5:11But it is a lot for two people only to do.
- 5:15So we brought in this girl. Yeah, well, we, we tried to like
- 5:19do the website. We tried to like pick and pack.
- 5:22We. Tried to sell.
- 5:23You don't need to start moaning about it, no.
- 5:26I need to tell. We've, I know we're large,
- 5:28people do realise what's involved.
- 5:30We know, right? I disagree.
- 5:32Well, some people do. People who are in our position
- 5:35do. No, I'm going to say, I'm going
- 5:37to be honest here, OK? I don't come from a business
- 5:41background, right? So the things I would not have
- 5:45taken into consideration is is you buy all this stuff, OK, You
- 5:51have to pick like places somewhere, which just costs
- 5:56money. Then people have to pick and
- 5:58pack it, which costs money. Then you need photographers,
- 6:00which costs money, OK, which obviously people should know
- 6:05that, but I'm not a business woman, so I didn't know any of
- 6:07this. So all of this stock, you
- 6:10actually have to earn all this money before you even break
- 6:15even. Oh yeah.
- 6:16So before you even get one cent, you are banjoed.
- 6:23I think the summary of what you're saying is working for
- 6:27yourself. I'm not just saying in this
- 6:30country, but my only experience of working in for myself is in
- 6:33this country. It's not all it's cracked up to
- 6:36be. It's not glitz and glam and oh,
- 6:39you're a business owner, Oh my God, it's amazing and this and
- 6:41that because the person walking for you just has to get there a
- 6:45few quid at the end of the. Week here maybe?
- 6:48There's a lot more. There's a lot.
- 6:49I know a lot of people, right, who won't businesses yet who are
- 6:52paying their workers more than they're taking on themselves.
- 6:55Really, Yes. And that's not today or
- 6:57yesterday. I did not know.
- 6:58That yeah, well, I can tell you that for a Fact Check.
- 7:01That's that's the preconceived ideas, right?
- 7:02Because either way, them families are contract
- 7:06contractually they they must get their money to feed their
- 7:11families them people. Yes.
- 7:13So like, I, I don't know, maybe naively or stupidly, you think
- 7:17this person owns a business, so they must be loaded and this
- 7:20that and do that. And then you're like.
- 7:21Not the case. Wow.
- 7:24Not always the case. So this is what we do.
- 7:28I dragged Cherry into this business idea and I'd like to
- 7:35say he gets sex for Dooney, but he doesn't.
- 7:38And we will talk about that or we have talked about that on a
- 7:41different episode. Very.
- 7:44Severe corner. What happened there?
- 7:46Well, because I can't give you anything for doing the the walk
- 7:50you do don't. Worry about it.
- 7:54But that's Grant then. You heard it.
- 7:56He said it. That's not right.
- 7:58Do you want to pay any to do it then?
- 7:59It's pro bono. Or what does that mean?
- 8:02Free forever. No.
- 8:06So when is my? Contact.
- 8:08I'll have to renegotiate. OK, you don't get holiday pay.
- 8:12When did they ever? OK, so how do we juggle it?
- 8:17All right. So look, we're sitting here,
- 8:19we're we're in great form. We're having a laugh.
- 8:21We do this podcast. This is a form.
- 8:23Can I just say to you, we're in great form, right?
- 8:26But we're actually in great form considering what kind of week
- 8:31we've had, which is really what we're getting on about this
- 8:34podcast. OK, Yeah, yeah.
- 8:36Because it's not about the behind the scenes of the
- 8:38business. Yes, there's a lot there.
- 8:40People do know this stuff, but people do not know this kind of
- 8:44stuff dealing with autism. Yes.
- 8:50Right. A lot of people do.
- 8:52Very few do. Be the business owner, being a
- 8:56sole trader, working for yourself, all them things,
- 9:00basically no work, no money and autism.
- 9:05All I do is work and still there's just sometimes no money.
- 9:08But autism is emotionally expensive, physically expensive,
- 9:13and it's financially expensive. Yeah.
- 9:16So these are the things that few will probably know about.
- 9:23So this week we had a photo shoot for the new clothes.
- 9:28I just said that and. Which looks lovely.
- 9:30I can see that portable. That's the new one.
- 9:32Thank you. We went to Belfast and I asked
- 9:36Terry, would you like to accompany me to Belfast?
- 9:38And he was like, what do you want me to do for you?
- 9:39And I was like, no, no, no. We haven't spent any time
- 9:42together because Terry was in London gigging.
- 9:45So basically I was manipulated. No, we had a date day.
- 9:48Let's spend time together now. In fairness, she didn't put me
- 9:52under pressure under there, so it was nice she was just
- 9:54sitting. It was nice, it was.
- 9:55Watching me in my underwear a lot of the time getting changed,
- 9:58didn't I? So I mean, that was it.
- 9:59Was very, very hard job that. Was there that was a few that
- 10:02was a few Bob for packing for. Me.
- 10:03A lot of me. Yeah, exactly.
- 10:06So then we came home and then the next day I had panto photo
- 10:11shoot. Yeah.
- 10:13That's right. Stock had landed and then in
- 10:16between our crazy lives, Harry is not having a good week.
- 10:23Yeah, he's kind of gone through a little period down to moment
- 10:25where we don't know whether it's hormonal growing pains, whether
- 10:30he has an infection or what it is, I don't know.
- 10:35We just we just kind of go with the flow and do our best from
- 10:39see what we could do. And here is a good point that
- 10:43I've made and other people will agree, is when we are stressed
- 10:48out and when our workload is a little bit heavier than normal
- 10:52and we're not, let's say, calm and centred, that it definitely
- 10:58impacts Harry. Yeah, I think we passed a bit of
- 11:00the maniqueness on to Harry Heel, kind of.
- 11:04Well, we're not as we're. Not doing it like purposely, but
- 11:08we're all over the place. Running around and chaos to him
- 11:13heightens his nerves. Basically, and then you're
- 11:18battling the guilt of that because you're like, I'm trying
- 11:21to like earn a living, I'm trying to build a future, I'm
- 11:26trying to walk from home and centre our whole life around
- 11:32Harry. So the reason that we walk from
- 11:36home, the reason I walk from home, the reason I do the
- 11:39content at home is so that I can walk around Harry because there
- 11:44is times where he's not great. He can't go to school, he's
- 11:50having a really bad day and there's like self harm.
- 11:53And like last night he was like grabbing me by the face.
- 11:55He wanted to bite me. He wanted to head butt me for
- 11:58whatever. Frustration.
- 12:01Whatever was happening for him, and I don't know what's
- 12:07happening. And that's really difficult as a
- 12:10parent. And then I'm thinking about the
- 12:14photo shoots, the podcast, the pop up shop, the jumpers, like
- 12:20my friends and people are coming out of like the woodwork trying
- 12:27to help like pack like my auntie who's not my auntie, but is my
- 12:31auntie, she's my mom's best friend, came over and helped me
- 12:34unpack all the jumpers and place them in boxes, small, medium,
- 12:38large, extra large, so they could go to the show.
- 12:42But I, I have to rely on all these people because I'm like, I
- 12:47don't know how to do all this. And then when Harry's like that,
- 12:52I nearly feel a little bit guilty because I'm like, I'm
- 12:56trying to do all this for him. But then I'm like is.
- 13:03It affecting them? Is it affecting them in a
- 13:05negative way? Yeah, And I've often thought
- 13:07about should I go back to work like three days a week?
- 13:12But is that possible? Because what if he has a bad day
- 13:15or a bad night and I I can't ring in sick.
- 13:19So all of these things that maybe people might not
- 13:25understand when you're dealing with a child with autism, there
- 13:29is a campaign going on at the moment.
- 13:32It's what happens when we die. Because basically if a child
- 13:39with a disability has no guardian or sibling who is
- 13:44willing and able to become the now adult, special needs adult,
- 13:53their guardian, where do they go?
- 13:56And it actually, I'm, I'm trying not to get upset, but it
- 14:03actually goes to tender. So it goes to the HSC and it
- 14:08goes to tender to see who or where this beautiful adult is
- 14:17going to go. So their whole world has been
- 14:20upside down. They've lost their parents,
- 14:23which change is huge, like we just said.
- 14:25Is Harry a little bit off? Because there's a lot going on
- 14:28in the house, you know, mum and dad aren't as available to him.
- 14:33And then in the back of my mind when I'm walking like this and
- 14:38I'm trying to succeed, it's always with the intent just to
- 14:44be able to leave him with something.
- 14:46Just to be like, like, I feel like I know this is this is
- 14:51probably real stupid to people, but it's like I feel like I
- 14:54can't die without a plan. I can't die without saying I
- 15:00need to make sure that there's enough for him.
- 15:08There's enough for him. It's we.
- 15:10Sorry. It's we.
- 15:12I don't know why I do that. I don't know whether it's
- 15:14because I've just, I take it upon myself that like.
- 15:19Well, you're with me now. 12 years.
- 15:21Yeah. So it's we.
- 15:23It's not I or me. It's we OK?
- 15:28And I think we've also spoke about that, though you look more
- 15:31at the short term, I look more at the long.
- 15:34Term, but either way we get it done.
- 15:36Yeah, Terry's bad cop and I'm good cop.
- 15:41So yes, Oh yes, So yesterday, I'm going to get into this one
- 15:44now. So we had to bring him to get
- 15:47his bloodstone because I want to know what is going on in my
- 15:50son's body. OK.
- 15:52I'm obsessed with the study of autism as a whole, right,
- 15:57because it affects all so much and I know other people are
- 16:01speaking to a fellow from Glasgow yesterday who, who was
- 16:05he'll text me from time to time and looking for a little kind of
- 16:09tips or I'll get tips off him. He actually gave me a tip
- 16:12yesterday. So that's I always say that it's
- 16:15about networking, communication between parents if you can,
- 16:20because yes, we are told things by the HSE, but they're not
- 16:23always right. And also each child is always
- 16:26very different. We've spoke about this on last
- 16:28week's pods. I'm not going to get mad into it
- 16:30again. Listen to last week's again.
- 16:33Episode 4 guys Episode 4 sorry Terry talks about.
- 16:37Apologize again, mixed up. So if you want to listen to him
- 16:40what we have to say and just click into that.
- 16:43But this week we had to bring up our bloods and Connolly Hospital
- 16:47was suggested to us. We tried Tally which would be
- 16:51would be the local. So explain why Connolly so
- 16:54Harry. Connolly is more.
- 16:56Specialized. Specialized in for autistic kids
- 17:00to take blood. Let's just say you're a listener
- 17:03and you don't understand the dynamics of a child with
- 17:07additional needs. We can't just give medicine.
- 17:12We can't just bring them to the dentist, it does not walk like
- 17:17that. So Connolly Hospital, we have
- 17:20brought him to tell a hospital and it takes five people to hold
- 17:25him down to get bloods OK, which is extremely traumatic and I
- 17:30refuse to go back for three years and our professor was like
- 17:34Aaron, we need to do it. There is a specialised area in
- 17:38Connolly in Blanchardstown where they are trained for children
- 17:42with autism. OK, probably more, but.
- 17:45Don't get me wrong, Tally are wonderful.
- 17:48Amazing. Wonderful they carried out.
- 17:50They have the sensory room and everything there for autism, I'm
- 17:53sure loads of people know that. But in this particular area,
- 17:57Conley are the superstars. OK, so here's another part that
- 18:02people might not know. This is where we'll say Terry's
- 18:06the bad cop. Terry will get it done.
- 18:09He will go in and he'll be like, you're doing it where I would be
- 18:12Harry's more emotional safe space.
- 18:16If it was left to just me, we wouldn't do it.
- 18:19And if it was left to just me, we wouldn't do it.
- 18:22So basically we walk really well.
- 18:25So I try to give Harry that emotional, but I need Terry to
- 18:29action OK, Now it's the time to actually hold him in position.
- 18:35So he has to get. We kind of know over time.
- 18:39At the start we would have been both flipping out, but now we
- 18:41know when is the time to just OK.
- 18:44Now it's the time enough plummers and now we need to just
- 18:47go boom. So I was going to be a little
- 18:51bit selfish and not go because I was like, I didn't want to go.
- 18:53But I knew Terry was a bit stressed out yesterday and as I
- 18:56said, Harry hasn't been having a good week.
- 18:58So I said no, I'm going to show up for Terry and Harry and I'm
- 19:02going to be there and put this to the side and we're going to
- 19:05do this. So when we went in, there is a a
- 19:09mask like a gas like Aaron, you know, like when you're having
- 19:12your. It's like a kind of a relaxing,
- 19:14happy gas kind of thing, isn't it?
- 19:16So Harry didn't mind. So we tested him.
- 19:19He was fine in the room. He's, you know, we, I was
- 19:21putting it up. He was laughing.
- 19:23I was like, would he actually doesn't have the cognitive sense
- 19:27to inhale hail? He hold his breath, gone.
- 19:32I don't know what this is. So for it to ask, you know what
- 19:35I mean, for it to actually walk, he has to breathe it in.
- 19:40Continuously breathe in for about 20 breaths.
- 19:44Which is. Quite a bit.
- 19:45It's quite a long time, yeah, but it depends on your artistic
- 19:48trait. Because some kids are fine at
- 19:51doing that and then others aren't, and art just happens to
- 19:54be the one that isn't. So we were there about 20
- 19:57minutes, 1/2 an hour, and Terry was like, no, it's time, OK.
- 20:01Yeah. No, you had got, in fairness to
- 20:02you had got 5 to 6. Into them.
- 20:05But it was like because he knew and he saw into intuitive, he
- 20:11knows that we're about to do an operation of sorts on him.
- 20:15Yeah, I don't. When I say an operation, I mean
- 20:17we are about to do something that involves it's him, right?
- 20:21We explain, I take time every single time to explain to him
- 20:26what's going on. Yeah, I tell him because I think
- 20:28it's really important. Yeah.
- 20:30I found that when a child is non verbal, yeah, that a lot of
- 20:35people treat them with the same thing you would do with a baby.
- 20:40Like you don't tell a baby, OK, I'm going to put you in the
- 20:42boogie now, OK, we're going to go on a walk because it's just a
- 20:44new baby. And I find people nearly would
- 20:49not like physically drag Harry along but not tell him things.
- 20:53So I will explain things bit by bit to Harry and I will take
- 20:57that time out to sit there and say to him this is what's going
- 21:01to happen. It's going to be OK Mam will
- 21:05never let anything happen to you as she will always protect you.
- 21:08I do. I do think that works.
- 21:10He listens. He does listen.
- 21:12He listens to, to the, to the, to the important parts, right.
- 21:15So then we have to get to a stage where all the balmazing
- 21:19has basically run its course. And now it's like right as,
- 21:24listen, now I have to do this now, OK, I'm sorry, but I have
- 21:28to do this. I'm sorry, son, I have to do
- 21:31this. And I literally had to lie on
- 21:33the bed, on the hospital bed, put them in between my legs.
- 21:39And basically I put a bear hog around them and put me two feet
- 21:46on his legs so he couldn't jump up.
- 21:49Because if he jumps up and they're trying to put a needle
- 21:51in his arm, it could tear his arm.
- 21:53And this is the thing that I don't want to happen, right?
- 21:56And. He's pretty strong when he.
- 21:59Gets a jerk in motion. Like it's just like, you have to
- 22:02really contain him, right? And for me to do that, it's so
- 22:09emotionally challenging. I cannot believe that I have to
- 22:14inflict this much for some of his son just to get a simple
- 22:18thing done. And it absolutely breaks me
- 22:21every time. It breaks me.
- 22:23I was literally crying after doing it yesterday.
- 22:26But thank you, God, right? It was a very short lived
- 22:30experience, right? But I had to just keep them
- 22:32going. And it's on the other side of it
- 22:35is I'm going in my mind, I'm like this.
- 22:37These are all my son, including me.
- 22:41I'm not thinking about myself, but I'm going to, I'm going to
- 22:43kill all these. What?
- 22:44You know what I mean? Like it's that instinct
- 22:46protection of your kid that you get me.
- 22:49So thankfully a guy came in down and was just an absolute genius.
- 22:53Yeah, he was just bomb, bomb. We're in.
- 22:57I was like, OK, tell me when to release the grip.
- 22:59Release the grip, release the grip.
- 23:01And OK, we're don't Terry Grant Bull.
- 23:04Thank God for that. And then I had to console them
- 23:07and said sorry, son, I'm so sorry about that.
- 23:09I swear to Jays, I couldn't. I couldn't even hold it back.
- 23:12So, so Terry, Terry start crying and he sat down in the corner.
- 23:18So I'm trying to no. One says that cry.
- 23:19I didn't go into like to like convoluted.
- 23:23I just got very, very welled up and emotional and I'm like.
- 23:28That's your form of crying though.
- 23:30Why does it have to be like this?
- 23:33Do you know what I mean? Like why?
- 23:38What is this all about? You know what I mean, this
- 23:42autism thing. But anyway, that's neither here
- 23:46nor there. I'm never going to get an answer
- 23:47for that bull. And then one person said to me,
- 23:51I did a live last night on Instagram.
- 23:53And I remember a year when I got into recovery years ago, forced.
- 23:59We always found it very difficult to get in touch with
- 24:02our emotions or else they would you'd always blocked them out,
- 24:05which was what, which is what I've done in Army life.
- 24:07I've, I spoke about that before on this ball.
- 24:12I remember Max saying to me, Terry, real crying is a release
- 24:16of pain. It's OK to cry because believe
- 24:20me, no matter what, and I love loads of people do, no matter
- 24:25what as a man or a woman, when you cry, when you finish crying,
- 24:29you always feel better. You feel like you've emptied or
- 24:33you've shed away off you, you know, that kind of way.
- 24:36So that was grand. We got through that, and this
- 24:38poor little lamb had the little Mac.
- 24:40And even last night he was rubbing at the odd time and I
- 24:42was just like, oh, Jesus. Thank God.
- 24:46That's all. Now we've finally got to find
- 24:49out what's going on inside him, you know, because it's so
- 24:52important. We cannot be selfish in this
- 24:55regard. It's for his benefit because he
- 24:58could have something he could be deficient in somewhere.
- 25:00We can fix it. Yeah.
- 25:02He could have an underlying condition.
- 25:04We can fix it. Yeah.
- 25:05And in fixing it, he may develop neurolog neurologically, yeah,
- 25:10for the better. And that's the main goal, right?
- 25:14And while all that is gold on I after doing 2 photo shoots,
- 25:21which takes a lot out of you because when I'm being the model
- 25:25and I'm being the brand campaign, I'm being the CEO, I'm
- 25:30the marketing or I'm the analyst, I have to do all the
- 25:33research, what people will buy, what you know, the basic risk.
- 25:39Yeah, you have to read the market.
- 25:40You have to. Read the market, buying the
- 25:43stocking, hoping that we make it making the right choices,
- 25:48because I have made a lot of stupid mistakes in in in
- 25:51business and also I have to do my.
- 25:55But I'm going to give you a good compliment here, right?
- 25:58Yes, we have made the mistakes in the business.
- 26:01Yes, that's not There's no doubt we we were starting off from
- 26:04scratch. Yeah.
- 26:06But we learned quickly from them.
- 26:09Yeah. You learned your bit quickly.
- 26:12I learned my bit quickly. Yeah.
- 26:14So we know now, gentlemen. So we're a fully oiled machine
- 26:17here, and imperfection is here to stay.
- 26:21No, I hope. So.
- 26:23I hope so. It is here to stay.
- 26:25So I went home and again, here is the part that maybe you guys
- 26:30don't realize. So a lot of the content that you
- 26:33would see of me like trying on different outfits, all of that
- 26:38really is, you know, we're building a community, we're
- 26:41shown what to wear, we're building insights to see what
- 26:46you guys want. A lot of that stuff, you'd see
- 26:51the big, big influencers doing it all the time.
- 26:54But a lot of the time, especially when you're a smaller
- 26:57influencer and even the bigger ones, they're not paid.
- 27:01So all of the content that you will see, which most of my
- 27:06content doesn't have add on. It is all just me, my time, my
- 27:13energy, and it's because I'm trying.
- 27:15To build something. It's because I'm trying to build
- 27:19something. And when you have moments like
- 27:23that with Harry and you feel like you're on this treadmill
- 27:27and you feel like you're getting nowhere, you kind of say to
- 27:30yourself, what is this all about?
- 27:35So I guess that's an insight and most people on social media,
- 27:40like even saying this to you guys, it's really hard because
- 27:45most people would say not to talk about that on social media.
- 27:50Never let brands know that other brands aren't working with you.
- 27:53Never tell. Like it's like you have to
- 27:56portray this like that you're the best and people should want
- 28:00to walk with you. And I walk with some amazing
- 28:02brands and the brands I walk with, I'm with them like 6 and
- 28:06seven years like Voodoo, Be Perfect Panto, like these are
- 28:11year long brands that I have built.
- 28:13Relationships with people. Loyal people, loyal to the core.
- 28:17But also you are loyal. I'm very.
- 28:19You absolutely go above and beyond for every single brand
- 28:22that you work for, even if it's a once off job, you will do
- 28:26absolutely every single thing possible to make them look the
- 28:30very, very, very best that they can be.
- 28:33Yeah. So they should be grateful,
- 28:34yeah. And sometimes I, I struggle
- 28:37trying to do it all. I, I, I definitely do struggle.
- 28:41I, I struggle trying to do it all.
- 28:44And then again, not really been allowed to express that on
- 28:52social media because it's not brand friendly.
- 28:55So you need to be brand friendly.
- 28:59You know, you can't maybe say at times what the industry is
- 29:04really like. But you see, and the difference,
- 29:06the difference with that is right.
- 29:08Like yes, that is becoming more of a thing now because people of
- 29:13now love drama where before all people wanted to see was the
- 29:18Little House on the Prairie on the television because they use
- 29:21television and screens as an as entertainment, right?
- 29:26Where now we use screens, right, and TV's as our own personal
- 29:32platforms to rant, conversate or whatever.
- 29:35We do it ourselves. Yeah, I, I, I get that.
- 29:39I get that. But sometimes I see things
- 29:41happening on social media and I'm like, why are you doing?
- 29:45Like, I understand maybe talking about like a bit more of a
- 29:48serious topic or maybe if there's like a bullying in a
- 29:51workplace or maybe unfair treatment.
- 29:55But sometimes I don't get the drama.
- 29:56I don't think you do see it on TikTok.
- 29:58But I'm like you. Nobody is monetized.
- 30:00But do you want me to, do you want me to spell it out for you?
- 30:02What I think it is, yeah. I think a lot of people, yeah,
- 30:06on because it's so easy to access a platform are they're
- 30:13not really, they're just ranting a lot of time and they're
- 30:19possibly delusional about some certain things.
- 30:22Maybe. I, I listen, I'm not saying
- 30:24everybody, some people are dead right and what they're doing,
- 30:27but a lot of people I see, I'm going, what are you even talking
- 30:30about? But I do think as well, Terry,
- 30:32where everybody's job, OK, even let's say the guys here behind
- 30:36the screen, OK, I'm sure we do not really know how much work
- 30:42goes into things, nobody ever really.
- 30:46Knows. How much war goes into things?
- 30:49I see athletes or actresses or whatever you think that you
- 30:54know, they've just made it. The reality is, is there's
- 30:57probably all of these things that we spoke about, all the
- 31:01difficulties all day. Should we give up?
- 31:04Should we keep going the nitty gritty because nobody really,
- 31:09really knows what it takes to be in that industry.
- 31:15We understand nurses, doctors, healthcare workers, SN as
- 31:20teachers. We know that their work is so
- 31:24difficult because we see it and it's so important.
- 31:27And obviously I would never, ever compare to that.
- 31:30OK, like, ever. There are angels, there are
- 31:33superheroes, and they deserve to be bowed down to every time.
- 31:38But I'm just talking about as walkers as people running
- 31:42around. As entertainers.
- 31:44But but anyone? Nobody sees what really goes on
- 31:48behind closed doors of business. You know what?
- 31:52You know I did. I did college, music performance
- 31:54college back in 2010. My mentor who I spoke about last
- 32:02week, who passed away recently, he encouraged me to go to
- 32:06performance, musical performance school.
- 32:09And I did it in body frame. And one of the main main things
- 32:15that Jerry, now Jerry was hired, right?
- 32:17Allen was, they were both really staring figures, but Jerry was
- 32:20like giving it to a straight yeah, you want to be a musician.
- 32:25What you're seeing is 10% of what goes on the stage part.
- 32:33The performance part is 10%. If you're lucky.
- 32:38There's another 90% logistical nightmare going on behind that.
- 32:43Yeah. That until you make it to the
- 32:46absolute very pinnacle of that, you are doing most of that
- 32:49yourself. You're literally.
- 32:51And that's where that's where your loyalty to your craft comes
- 32:54in basically or your scale or your, your performance,
- 32:58whatever. But you'll even see me a panto
- 33:00right just before, like when I get the script, the four weeks
- 33:03before pants are like, I am literally not messing a
- 33:05psychopath. I'm like, I can't do this.
- 33:07I can't do this. I sit in the kitchen and I'm
- 33:09like it. Does be actually funny because
- 33:12she'll be, I'll be out the backyard, right?
- 33:16And she'll be in, she'll be in the kitchen like this look, and
- 33:23you know, all this stuff like this, right?
- 33:27And I'll be in the back garden and I'll home in on this look.
- 33:29I'll just go. Panto season has begun.
- 33:33But you know what? You know what?
- 33:35But it's. Correct.
- 33:36It's gas help because you know why?
- 33:38No matter what I've always said it to you, no matter what, when
- 33:40it comes to D-Day, you have it nailed.
- 33:43So you, you learn it, you get it, you do.
- 33:45Get it? Give it my.
- 33:48But you're doing. How long you doing now?
- 33:50If you didn't do it right, they wouldn't have your back.
- 33:52True, True. True, but I do.
- 33:54I love that release and panto. Panto is probably that one time
- 33:57of the year we're doing 3 shows a day is an actual break.
- 34:01From that's why I that's why I like you doing it even though
- 34:04it's a it's a like December is a family Christmas.
- 34:08This that you're I like you doing it because it's your, it's
- 34:11your one time that you actually leave the house for a block
- 34:14period of time to get a release from the house.
- 34:19And that's why I'll never ever, ever, I'll never stop you doing
- 34:21that in any anyway. But, umm, I I encourage you to
- 34:26keep doing that, yeah. You know, and, and there's a lot
- 34:28of juggling and around that we have to juggle a lot and we.
- 34:31Do juggling. Listen.
- 34:32We just listen. Just grab people.
- 34:34And we have our people now. We know.
- 34:37Yeah, and I mean even yesterday. So Terry's UMM is the sole care
- 34:43for his mother also. So last night he was down.
- 34:46Oh, you never heard a story like it?
- 34:48Let me tell you this. Right.
- 34:49So I came out with the dogs last night, right?
- 34:51Our neighbor loves dogs. She does, right?
- 34:53Where's Kennedy? Where's Kennedy?
- 34:54I. Come on, bring him out.
- 34:56Where's Cooper? I said Cooper is your favorite
- 34:58now? No, no, I love Kennedy.
- 35:01Right? Blah blah blah.
- 35:01Right. So we went on anyway as a torn
- 35:04down Harley was hungry and he for some reason wanted to go for
- 35:08a drive in the car. It's the new thing.
- 35:10Now he wants to just drive in the car.
- 35:12I'm. Going to say this real quickly
- 35:13though. I was right because there's a
- 35:15quite a bit in this right. So I said to myself, right jump
- 35:19him in the car, put the pizza in when I'm in the box grand you
- 35:23can eat. And I said to myself, I have to
- 35:25go down to be miles in anyway to get a primary care certificate
- 35:29for right for I'm looking for a simple parking permit so my
- 35:35mother whose heart conditions and asthma doesn't have to walk
- 35:39and. Kidney.
- 35:40And kidney infection and kidney issues does not have to walk.
- 35:44I miss you fighting to nail for this thing, right?
- 35:46So it's ridiculous. But anyway, we're doing what we
- 35:49do, right? So I have to go down to it to
- 35:50get the letter. I said, you know what, let's go
- 35:52hard. Let's go on a drive down here.
- 35:54Went down, right? Me, my goes to me the, the, the,
- 35:59the hot wireless tablet top is not working in the kitchen.
- 36:04So like Grant. So I torn on the top, see if it
- 36:05was airlocked, blah, blah blah. Did everything I had to do
- 36:08didn't work. Next one I went into the hot
- 36:11press, right And there's this little box here.
- 36:13Yeah. And I got I said, what's the
- 36:16start with that box, man, what's that?
- 36:18And all the light used to be on and that it's not on anymore.
- 36:23So I goes, well, it must be a fuse.
- 36:24And I flipped out the little yoga.
- 36:25The fuse. Yeah, touched off the fuse.
- 36:28The whole gaffe went Into Darkness.
- 36:31Yeah. Not a lie.
- 36:34Not a plug. Was walking right?
- 36:36And laid back. Terry was so laid back about the
- 36:40whole thing. I mean, I have to worry about
- 36:42was Army field will go off in the freezer.
- 36:46I said. Man, the whole gaps in darkness,
- 36:49we've a little bit more to worry about in the field, Yeah.
- 36:52Don't mind, don't mind. She knows what I'm like.
- 36:56But anyway, as a torn down, it was this box that was tripping
- 36:59everything, but it just goes to show you.
- 37:03Then Harry started down because we were spending our time down.
- 37:05I had to get a neighbor in to fix it.
- 37:07Thank God for for days right and.
- 37:10Harry was going into meltdown. He was going into meltdown
- 37:12miles. So now I'm like, I'm going to
- 37:15literally the lid now. In a minute, right?
- 37:19And I'm at home taking all of the new stock out of the
- 37:22packaging, putting them into box small, medium, marriage, extra
- 37:25large, double extra large, trying to get ready for a show.
- 37:27And I'm thinking to myself, Terrye disappeared because he
- 37:30doesn't want to. I didn't.
- 37:32Want to do the jumpers when I was actually delayed trying to
- 37:35get my mass gap up and running. So then Terry came home.
- 37:38Now remember, I'd done all my filming for the content.
- 37:40OK, So if you see that with my social media, please interact
- 37:43with it because I did work at it.
- 37:45So then Terry came home stressed out of his head and I was like,
- 37:48our new sofa is coming tomorrow. So we actually have to move the
- 37:51sofa and all the stuff that is in the sitting room out.
- 37:54And he's like right now. And I'm like, well, they're
- 37:56going to be here at 8:00 in the morning.
- 37:58So if we don't do it now, what are we going to do?
- 38:01So I brought Harry to bed. He wasn't really great.
- 38:05There was a few head butts, a few pinches and then we had to
- 38:08move all the sofa. And then we woke up this
- 38:10morning. I was like, hey Terry, all the
- 38:12boxes in the sitting on the kitchen.
- 38:14Can you move up to the room? And now we're hearing a podcast.
- 38:18And then we got a phone call to say Harry wasn't feeling great.
- 38:22He had a Nosebleed and can he be collected from school?
- 38:26So his sister has gone to collect them because we are mid
- 38:28podcast and that is the day in the life and Terry.
- 38:35Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
- 38:37And you know when I find my peace?
- 38:39When I'm on stage at 5:15. And bad bobs, baby.
- 38:42Have you got 2 gigs today? Yeah, you can take it behind the
- 38:46scenes for that. Thank you my man.
