- 3:40Speaker 1: up has been postponed due to rain, so umla, I
- 3:44Speaker 1: loved you, but I love me more. We're going to

- 4:07Speaker 1: going to have our little selfie station that's super cute,
- 4:10Speaker 1: so please come through. It's going to be so amazing,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and we're gonna have a really fun way for y'all
- 4:15Speaker 1: to dispose of your excess belongings or gifts that they

- 4:21Speaker 1: we're gonna do spring cleaning. We're gonna do it with style. Yes,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's gonna be cute, it's gonna be fun, it's going
- 4:26Speaker 1: to be a community clean. So February, bring those things
- 4:31Speaker 1: next to look forward to the LAMA series with the
- 4:34Speaker 1: l A Public Library. Yes, this is we've been talking
- 4:37Speaker 1: about this and this is UM something that we're so
- 4:39Speaker 1: excited about, and now that we're closer, we can announce
- 4:42Speaker 1: it our very first workshop of intro to podcasting. It's
- 4:45Speaker 1: going to be February and that's a Saturday at one
- 4:48Speaker 1: pm and it's going to be at the Hollywood Branch Library.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It's free and we're basically going to do an intro
- 4:55Speaker 1: to podcasting. So if you've been thinking about starting a podcast,
- 4:58Speaker 1: or if you just want to start some type of
- 5:00Speaker 1: creative media, some type of creative platform, this is definitely
- 5:04Speaker 1: for you. It's a beginner, it's one on one and
- 5:07Speaker 1: just look out for the flyer will be posting that
- 5:09Speaker 1: in the in the next week. And you know, I
- 5:11Speaker 1: really love UM all these local podcasting workshops that we're
- 5:14Speaker 1: doing because we do get people who d m us
- 5:17Speaker 1: or email us, hit us up to ask about basics
- 5:20Speaker 1: of starting a podcast. If you're one of those people,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it can be hard for us to respond to everybody.
- 5:24Speaker 1: We haven't necessarily put out any type of like a
- 5:27Speaker 1: written guide, but this is where you can go to
- 5:29Speaker 1: really access that information for free and locally. So hope
- 5:33Speaker 1: to see you there, Yes, come through, and if you
- 5:35Speaker 1: if you can't make that one. We're going to have
- 5:36Speaker 1: a few others in the upcoming months, um, but Hollywood
- 5:40Speaker 1: is definitely a local one. And then we will be
- 5:41Speaker 1: at the Benjamin Franklin Library, I think sometime in March.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So as always, just some reminders for our listeners. The
- 5:48Speaker 1: best way you know to really support the podcast is
- 5:51Speaker 1: to love us out loud. A really good way to
- 5:53Speaker 1: do that is to like subscribe and comment. Um. For example,
- 5:56Speaker 1: on Apple podcasts, we really do go and look at
- 6:00Speaker 1: listener comments for feedback, to look at what people like,
- 6:03Speaker 1: what people want to hear more about. Right, And we
- 6:05Speaker 1: recently shared some on the Instagram some of our favorites,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and we'll be sharing more in the upcoming few weeks.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And um also, if you don't follow us, you should
- 6:14Speaker 1: be check out our Instagram feed. It's super beautiful. Definitely,
- 6:18Speaker 1: our visuals are like coming together, tying into each other.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm loving the like subtle rebrand that we're doing. It's
- 6:27Speaker 1: not even a rebrand, it's just a we're changing our
- 6:29Speaker 1: visuals a little bit. We're going through a visual evolution,
- 6:32Speaker 1: so it's a great way to cut it. Okay, So
- 6:35Speaker 1: before we get into our song break and introduce our guests.
- 6:38Speaker 1: We do want to shout out one of our sponsors,
- 6:40Speaker 1: Therapy for latin X. So Therapy for latin X uses
- 6:45Speaker 1: the latest technology to make it as easy as possible
- 6:48Speaker 1: for people to find therapists, life coaches, emergency mental health centers,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and free or low cost community clinics. We really highly
- 6:56Speaker 1: recommend checking out their online database. You know here it
- 6:59Speaker 1: look tho. We really are all about the glow up,
- 7:02Speaker 1: which includes going to therapy and talking about mental health candidly.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So check out Therapy for latin X, yes, and follow
- 7:09Speaker 1: them on Instagram if you don't. All right, so we're
- 7:11Speaker 1: gonna go into a song break or castera belly ros
- 7:19Speaker 1: and and and and and and and and and and
- 7:29Speaker 1: and and and and and um um um um of
- 7:56Speaker 1: it and ship and we are back and we are
- 8:03Speaker 1: so excited to introduce our guest. Today. We have the
- 8:07Speaker 1: wonderful ladies of Shop latin X, which is a tech
- 8:10Speaker 1: startup and digital platform dedicated to the growth and visibility
- 8:14Speaker 1: of small Latino X businesses. They've done this by creating
- 8:17Speaker 1: the first national latin X Business directory, which features over
- 8:20Speaker 1: five hundred businesses, content creation and providing marketing services. We
- 8:26Speaker 1: have with us Brittain Bree of Shop Latin X. Can
- 8:29Speaker 1: you say hi to our listeners? Utners, how are y'all
- 8:33Speaker 1: doing today? I'm great. I'm actually recovering from a little cold,
- 8:37Speaker 1: but I'm I'm just off of like a high from
- 8:40Speaker 1: this last half of presents workshop that my homegirls Ju
- 8:45Speaker 1: Lisa Proud of Resource Curls and Patty Delgado oft On.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So I'm feeling really great. I'm good. Yes, yes, how
- 8:54Speaker 1: are you breathe? Um? Hey, y'all two girl Brie and
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm happy to be outside my house. Oh my god,
- 9:01Speaker 1: congratulations on the last half host panel. Thank you. So
- 9:04Speaker 1: we were watching on Instagram and we saw that it
- 9:07Speaker 1: looked packed, really well attended, amazing energy. Can you tell
- 9:11Speaker 1: us a little bit more about it? Yeah, So this
- 9:13Speaker 1: panel started off, as we told the Chief's Matthew event UM.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It was supposed to be a forty person panel and
- 9:19Speaker 1: it was put on by UM. It was it was
- 9:22Speaker 1: going to be hosted at an event space in the
- 9:24Speaker 1: West Side. It was like a predominantly white space, UM,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and they forgot to put a cap on the event.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So they kind of underestimated our power and our influence
- 9:36Speaker 1: and within two hours we got over a hundred and
- 9:39Speaker 1: eighty r s v ps UM. It was crazy, So
- 9:44Speaker 1: we had to in the At that point, the workshop
- 9:47Speaker 1: was like six days away, UM, and we were able
- 9:51Speaker 1: to secure an event space at Philosophy and Santa Monica.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Shout out to Jessica, UM. Shout out to Jessica because
- 9:58Speaker 1: without her, like it wouldn't have been possible, because the
- 10:02Speaker 1: text space prior to that was like, oh it could
- 10:05Speaker 1: be first come, first serve. So forty people were allowed
- 10:09Speaker 1: in these space, but we had a hundred and eighty
- 10:13Speaker 1: attendees confirm, and so you just you just want to
- 10:17Speaker 1: leave a hundred and forty women of color out in
- 10:20Speaker 1: the coal that don't even live in the West Side.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They're hanging from Well Heights. They're coming from l A.
- 10:25Speaker 1: We had girls fly from Virginia. We had another girl
- 10:28Speaker 1: come from New Orleans. We had a girl drift from
- 10:30Speaker 1: Sacramento for what so can you first come, first serve
- 10:33Speaker 1: and them not coming because they're late due to traffic.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So we had six days UM long story shore. We
- 10:41Speaker 1: secured sponsors, We got Twisted for Sugars Turo service to come.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We got the the Verde there, we got selver right Rum,
- 10:48Speaker 1: we had sponsors and it was just such a lit
- 10:51Speaker 1: empowering that, Like it was amazing, and there's going to
- 10:56Speaker 1: be more latinox on sponsors. We love disrupting those spaces.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I've always always always proving in our experience, had
- 11:07Speaker 1: always been men proving the men wrong about our listeners
- 11:11Speaker 1: and the power that they have, and that the way
- 11:14Speaker 1: they really show out and show up for us so
- 11:16Speaker 1: we can relate and congrats on you know, having to
- 11:21Speaker 1: secure a bigger venue. That's amazing. Yeah, tell us a
- 11:25Speaker 1: little bit more about the journey to shop latin X,
- 11:27Speaker 1: Like how did we get here? You guys are a brand,
- 11:30Speaker 1: You're a presence. Okay, let me yes, of during the
- 11:40Speaker 1: height of the presidential election, um, I was on Facebook
- 11:46Speaker 1: a lot, and I was a part of a lot
- 11:48Speaker 1: of women's groups on Facebook. But during this time on
- 11:51Speaker 1: my feed, you know, in between all the posts of
- 11:55Speaker 1: people who are like really concerned and scared, um, we're
- 11:59Speaker 1: some really great post by like Afro Punk and say
- 12:02Speaker 1: Karen and Bravity that were showcasing different black owned businesses,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and um, I remember there was this guy put on
- 12:11Speaker 1: by st here on like here's a guide where you
- 12:14Speaker 1: could support black owned businesses and have like a great
- 12:17Speaker 1: day in l A. And then I came across sources
- 12:19Speaker 1: like sites like we Buy Black and like all these
- 12:21Speaker 1: black owned directories UM, and it was really empowering and
- 12:26Speaker 1: through these through this content, I was able to support
- 12:30Speaker 1: and find black owned businesses that I could purchase from
- 12:33Speaker 1: and give my money to. UM. One night, I was
- 12:37Speaker 1: in my bed and I was looking up Latino businesses
- 12:40Speaker 1: to support. I had, you know, some extra coins, and
- 12:44Speaker 1: I found nothing. I came across absolutely zero. UM. What
- 12:48Speaker 1: I did find though, was like Nielsen Reports and Forbes
- 12:52Speaker 1: articles written by white men on how to attract the
- 12:56Speaker 1: Hispanic market right, but there was nothing being written by
- 13:01Speaker 1: us for us. There was no go to marketplace or
- 13:04Speaker 1: go to directory of Latino X businesses that I could
- 13:08Speaker 1: directly get my money to directly. So going back to
- 13:11Speaker 1: the women's groups I was a part of, I had
- 13:13Speaker 1: this idea and I just put it out there and UM,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I was like, Hey, I have this idea for shop
- 13:19Speaker 1: Latin Next, what do y'all think? And the response was amazing. UM.
- 13:24Speaker 1: We received a crazy response from like, Hey, my my
- 13:28Speaker 1: sister runs this Latino owned business. Can you post them?
- 13:32Speaker 1: So we created an Instagram We started off on Instagram
- 13:35Speaker 1: and started off as like shop Latino X Businesses. That
- 13:38Speaker 1: was the handle, and we were posting different Latino X
- 13:41Speaker 1: businesses every day. Within weeks, we received an outpour of
- 13:46Speaker 1: followers d ms of like hey can you post me
- 13:49Speaker 1: blah blah blah um and it was beautiful. UM. Bree
- 13:54Speaker 1: reached out to me via d M and was like, Hey,
- 13:58Speaker 1: if y'all need anything, I'm here. Brie and I met
- 14:02Speaker 1: at my house. I thought she was trying to kidnap,
- 14:05Speaker 1: trying to kid at her because I gave her the
- 14:07Speaker 1: wrong address, but we ended up meeting. It was like
- 14:09Speaker 1: an abandoned like truck yard or something. I was like,
- 14:11Speaker 1: oh no, I really messed up this time, guys. And
- 14:15Speaker 1: then she was like, oh I just gonna be the
- 14:16Speaker 1: wrong address. I'm like, oh, thank god not today. So
- 14:19Speaker 1: Brie and I met and yeah, she was on board
- 14:22Speaker 1: like I didn't. So at this point it was like
- 14:25Speaker 1: a couple of months in, I was like, this needs
- 14:27Speaker 1: to be something bigger, like we Instagram is great, but
- 14:31Speaker 1: we need a larger platform. So that's when we decided
- 14:34Speaker 1: to create a directory, an online directory UM which also
- 14:38Speaker 1: features content such as like listicals and articles where we
- 14:42Speaker 1: interview these business owners that would never get the recognition
- 14:46Speaker 1: from like an l a times, you know what I mean.
- 14:48Speaker 1: But they're amazing and they're powerful, and they deserve to
- 14:52Speaker 1: be heard and they deserve for their stories to be told. So. Um,
- 14:58Speaker 1: when we launched Shop Latin Next, we had a directory
- 15:00Speaker 1: of about I think we had like maybe a hundred
- 15:02Speaker 1: of businesses sign up. Yeah, and um, we had content
- 15:07Speaker 1: created by people from the community who were just felt
- 15:10Speaker 1: super empowered by our movement. And now yeah, and now we're,
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know, two years later, we're kind of pivoting and
- 15:17Speaker 1: we're leveraging tech. Um. I think, just like you ladies,
- 15:22Speaker 1: there's a lack of representation. I'm sure in like the
- 15:24Speaker 1: podcast scene, and for us, it's like I felt this
- 15:28Speaker 1: sort of imposter syndrome, but it was mostly due to
- 15:31Speaker 1: lack of resources, right, I'm like, how do I monetize
- 15:33Speaker 1: this shop at the next is growing at the same time,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'm broke, you know what I mean, We totally understand.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's so frustrating, you know what. I'm sure you're here.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It's such a weird feeling when you're like, oh my gosh,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I look up to y'all thank you so much for
- 15:49Speaker 1: what you do. I'm like, thanks, I literally just got
- 15:52Speaker 1: an overdraft fee and I don't know how I'm gonna
- 15:55Speaker 1: get my next paycheck. Um so I think now after
- 16:00Speaker 1: I actually went to a conference into the con Valley
- 16:03Speaker 1: called Latino x in Tech, and that was the first
- 16:05Speaker 1: time I was like, I listen, we're tech, We're fucking tech.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm a tech startup. High They are canda lists that
- 16:14Speaker 1: were at this conference that worked at Airbnb, that worked
- 16:18Speaker 1: at Slack, that worked at all these dope tech startups
- 16:22Speaker 1: that literally got off stage and was like, yo, I
- 16:24Speaker 1: follow shop at the next They're creeping on us. Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: they're creeping on us. You're making an impact, Your present
- 16:31Speaker 1: are pressing, And I'm like, Okay, you know what, the
- 16:34Speaker 1: last two years we did a really good job. I
- 16:37Speaker 1: pride myself on the authentic relationships that I've created with
- 16:41Speaker 1: people in our community, with you, with like all these
- 16:44Speaker 1: women in our community. And now like the next phase
- 16:48Speaker 1: is like we need to acquire funding, right. We were
- 16:52Speaker 1: just talking about that all of us right before we
- 16:54Speaker 1: started recording sponsorships and where is the money sponsorships VC money,
- 17:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Grants crowdfunding. These are things
- 17:03Speaker 1: that we're never we haven't been taught, you know, Like
- 17:08Speaker 1: these workshops that these tech companies put on, people like
- 17:12Speaker 1: us aren't invited to go. We haven't got an invitation,
- 17:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like, so it's very real.
- 17:22Speaker 1: It's it's very real. And so I think even for me,
- 17:24Speaker 1: like my dream for shop boty next, like I want
- 17:27Speaker 1: to help. I want us to all glow up together.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I want us to get the money, you know what
- 17:33Speaker 1: I mean. And it's like, in order for me to
- 17:35Speaker 1: do that, in order to make these ideas in my
- 17:37Speaker 1: head happen, we need to get funding first. And when
- 17:42Speaker 1: I get it, I'll help you'll get it and I'll
- 17:45Speaker 1: teach you how to get it. But first, like I
- 17:48Speaker 1: need to get it, You need to get it so
- 17:50Speaker 1: that you can help other aspiring podcasters, women of color
- 17:54Speaker 1: who listened to this radio show get it too. It's
- 17:57Speaker 1: so true. You have to. It's kind of like on
- 17:58Speaker 1: the airplane, you have to put your Oxford mask on first,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and the funding is the oxygen mask for your project. Like,
- 18:05Speaker 1: we needed to keep going. And you know what we
- 18:07Speaker 1: talk about all the time is that what we noticed
- 18:10Speaker 1: is that of the latin X projects, creators, business owners,
- 18:14Speaker 1: people who are really making the biggest waves. They are
- 18:18Speaker 1: mohere is always the majority, Like there are men doing
- 18:21Speaker 1: cool things like la la la la la here and there,
- 18:24Speaker 1: but overwhelmingly whether it's Bella Donna or someone like the
- 18:28Speaker 1: Hood which collective you guys us like it's Mohetts Julisa,
- 18:34Speaker 1: like Rizzles Curls. The list goes on and on. I
- 18:37Speaker 1: cannot name men that are making the same I can't either.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I can't, couldn't if I wanted to, and I don't
- 18:42Speaker 1: want to. But they're not doing it like we're doing. Listen,
- 18:45Speaker 1: men out there, we have tried to find John and
- 18:48Speaker 1: if you are out there, please are not looking at
- 18:54Speaker 1: isn't what we are because we've put out there like, hey,
- 18:57Speaker 1: do you know any man? And literally it's like I
- 18:59Speaker 1: can't the career sounds. So as far as the directory
- 19:03Speaker 1: and the latin X businesses that you all are seeing,
- 19:05Speaker 1: would you say that they're predominantly women? Ren, Yeah, it's
- 19:09Speaker 1: very much. It's there. It's their side hustles that they
- 19:12Speaker 1: want to turn into passions, um and it's them. And
- 19:18Speaker 1: and earlier this year we asked, I'm starting to ask
- 19:21Speaker 1: more questions in the Instagram stories like UM and that,
- 19:24Speaker 1: by the way, that's like a great way to do
- 19:26Speaker 1: market research. Good tip good tip good. We said that
- 19:30Speaker 1: at the last half of US crew workshop utilize Instagram
- 19:33Speaker 1: surveys UM and one of the things, I'm like, what
- 19:36Speaker 1: is y'all's goal for twenty nineteen and a majority of
- 19:40Speaker 1: an overwhelming majority of the responses where like, I just
- 19:43Speaker 1: want to be in the green. I need I need
- 19:45Speaker 1: to just I want to be profitable, And like a
- 19:49Speaker 1: lot of us Latino US, we have so much influence, right,
- 19:54Speaker 1: but it's like we need we need to be we
- 19:59Speaker 1: need to be paid, you know what I mean. There
- 20:00Speaker 1: has to be some say we need to be paid
- 20:03Speaker 1: for the influence. We need to figure out revenue streams,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you know. UM. But Latina's there is this amazing report
- 20:11Speaker 1: written by UM Publishing Nielsen called Latina two point oh
- 20:16Speaker 1: and that basically reaffirms our power as Latina's and our
- 20:22Speaker 1: influence on the internet on the college campus. You know
- 20:26Speaker 1: what's so crazy is like Latin there are so many
- 20:29Speaker 1: subcommunities on Instagram. There's there's veggie mihas, you know, like
- 20:34Speaker 1: vegans Latin x vegans. There's latin X, which is there's
- 20:39Speaker 1: latin x, UM graphics design, graphic designers, whereas UM clothing
- 20:45Speaker 1: that we want to plug. So I'm also a part
- 20:48Speaker 1: of it, wearing many hats as well. UM it's called Laddie,
- 20:50Speaker 1: the latin X Association of Designers and Illustrators, And I'm
- 20:54Speaker 1: trying to think up to my head, it's like a
- 20:56Speaker 1: stupid amount of a stupidly small amoun the latin X
- 21:01Speaker 1: artists and designers in that space. It's like over eighty
- 21:04Speaker 1: percent white male dominated in graphic design industry, and graphic
- 21:07Speaker 1: design is everywhere. It's on you know, chip stickers. I mean,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you all know about that. So it's really we're trying
- 21:12Speaker 1: to highlight that within our and then talking about more
- 21:15Speaker 1: about the shopolin Next database. I write a lot of
- 21:18Speaker 1: the listicals and when he goes on our website, please
- 21:20Speaker 1: go on shoplin next dot com and um, while Bernie's
- 21:22Speaker 1: out here like doing a thing with the VCS, I'm
- 21:25Speaker 1: on Instagram and I'm creeping on you guys because I
- 21:28Speaker 1: think specifically my goal with shop latin X is to
- 21:31Speaker 1: highlight the diversity of the latin X community. Because I'm
- 21:34Speaker 1: actually not from l A. I grew up all around California,
- 21:37Speaker 1: and I only grew up with like Mexican folk. I
- 21:39Speaker 1: think remember one salvy kid and I moved to Virginia
- 21:42Speaker 1: for a high school and college and I met like
- 21:45Speaker 1: a South American person for the first time in my life,
- 21:47Speaker 1: and I was like, wait, what there is a life
- 21:50Speaker 1: like what like they? I didn't know Papusa was. I
- 21:51Speaker 1: had no idea. I was so ignorant, you know. And
- 21:54Speaker 1: I think especially in l A, we're so dominated by
- 21:56Speaker 1: like one culture. Like my mission in chop Latin X
- 21:59Speaker 1: is to find the like different sub groups these different countries.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You know, after Latin X, we like highlight you know,
- 22:04Speaker 1: queer Latin X. We try to highlight every type of
- 22:07Speaker 1: different group. We are giving them a voice, like you
- 22:10Speaker 1: hear active soul time, Like We're not going to do
- 22:11Speaker 1: the work for you do the work. Well, guess what
- 22:13Speaker 1: I'm trying to do the work I'm trying to find
- 22:15Speaker 1: up so y'all can look at it. And you you
- 22:18Speaker 1: wrote that really great article that listical about gone Chatz
- 22:21Speaker 1: right and like, and it was like I hate and
- 22:25Speaker 1: miss right, Like some folks are obviously really upset because
- 22:28Speaker 1: that's what Mexican HEGEMONI does right, you know, I want
- 22:32Speaker 1: to say, yes, I really like admire you because I
- 22:35Speaker 1: feel like a lot of people who are like part
- 22:38Speaker 1: of like Mexican and part another type of Latino culture,
- 22:42Speaker 1: like kind of cling to their more Mexican side. But
- 22:45Speaker 1: I feel like you really like embrace both because I'm
- 22:47Speaker 1: not Mexican American, but I admire that about you. And
- 22:51Speaker 1: I think and I feel like a lot of people
- 22:53Speaker 1: out there, they're not represented, you know, because it's so dominant.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And then you hear the Mexican I can say, y'all
- 22:58Speaker 1: on part y'all so defended um that that's so dominating.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And so I think that count article was kind of more.
- 23:05Speaker 1: It's the representation of it. It's like it's so dominanting.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I get it. It's cute, but there's other desserts. And
- 23:11Speaker 1: you know, I got my car taken away Edward James
- 23:13Speaker 1: almost and even Mongory and cheach men and choked to
- 23:16Speaker 1: my house. So like give me a check kin of
- 23:18Speaker 1: card and they took it, you guys, they and Mario
- 23:22Speaker 1: Lopez was in the car. I am love. That's true.
- 23:30Speaker 1: It's true. Even within this is the thing that I
- 23:32Speaker 1: noticed too, So like online, even representations of Mexicanida and
- 23:37Speaker 1: Mexicans are super limited, and there's so much more, even
- 23:42Speaker 1: with a huge country. I think there's so much more,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and it's like this very stale, sort of repetitive like
- 23:50Speaker 1: series of iconographies that were limited to and we don't
- 23:54Speaker 1: need to be, you know. And I think that's what
- 23:56Speaker 1: we try to do with our project, is not used
- 24:00Speaker 1: the same ship over and over again, but like digging
- 24:02Speaker 1: deeper and finding what else is in there. I think
- 24:05Speaker 1: another reason as to why I created Shop Latina X
- 24:08Speaker 1: was I never really I I think for some like
- 24:12Speaker 1: I identifies after Latina Um growing up in the valley
- 24:17Speaker 1: I grew up in. I grew up. I lived in
- 24:19Speaker 1: North Hollywood, North Hollywood, North North and it was predominantly
- 24:23Speaker 1: working class Latinos. But I went to school in Sherman Oaks,
- 24:27Speaker 1: was mostly Jewish, rich Jewish and black kids were my friends.
- 24:32Speaker 1: The first time I ever met another Guatemalan was my
- 24:39Speaker 1: My Jewish friend was really excited to introduce me to
- 24:42Speaker 1: her nanny, who was Guatemalan who lived in the small
- 24:46Speaker 1: corridor in the west wing of her huge mansion and
- 24:49Speaker 1: Encino Um. I didn't have Latin X friends growing up.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I never felt I know that there's a say like
- 24:58Speaker 1: need the ecky need the I don't speak Spanish, so
- 25:02Speaker 1: like for me, I'm like, I'm neither here or there.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I can't relate. Um. I think growing up listening to
- 25:09Speaker 1: a lot of you know, hearing people that the word
- 25:12Speaker 1: chicano I couldn't you know, on college campus, I know
- 25:16Speaker 1: that there was like a Chicano Center. I didn't feel
- 25:21Speaker 1: Latin x enough to enter those spaces. Um. At the
- 25:25Speaker 1: same time, I didn't feel black, like I was just
- 25:28Speaker 1: very confusing for me growing up. I think I've always
- 25:31Speaker 1: longed for community and and now I built it. Yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: it's really cool. And I think to um, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm Central American. There aren't a lot of publications that
- 25:50Speaker 1: are created created by Central Americans. I believe that it's
- 25:54Speaker 1: mostly Mexican, which isn't bad. But at the same time,
- 25:57Speaker 1: like no bout us, I can't relate to um chinginga.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I've never said that word in my life, Like I
- 26:06Speaker 1: think I probably said it like five times. Like I've
- 26:10Speaker 1: never been like, oh my gosh, you're ching gona Like
- 26:12Speaker 1: I can't relate, but it's really fine. Like the gone
- 26:15Speaker 1: shy I can't relate, So I want to reiterate what
- 26:18Speaker 1: Brees said earlier is like Shop Latinas, it's definitely our
- 26:22Speaker 1: mission to showcase all spectrums of Latini Dad. There's you know,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I think it's there's power in there in Shop Latinas
- 26:30Speaker 1: being owned by a woman Afro Latina, who Central Central American,
- 26:38Speaker 1: who had a different experience in her Latini Dad growing up,
- 26:42Speaker 1: you know. And it's just incredible to me how just
- 26:46Speaker 1: like Instagram continues to just like come through and like
- 26:49Speaker 1: bringing folks together and making these things even a possibility
- 26:53Speaker 1: at all. Could we talked about not having funding, not
- 26:56Speaker 1: having money, this free platform and just the engenuity to
- 27:01Speaker 1: utilize it in the this huge variety of ways. And
- 27:04Speaker 1: it's just really amazing to me how like the Latino
- 27:08Speaker 1: communities have like latched on and like made use of
- 27:11Speaker 1: this because we're so resourceful. We're so resourceful. It's a
- 27:15Speaker 1: free everyone who has. If you're an influence, you know,
- 27:19Speaker 1: a micro influencer and influencer, if you want to monitor,
- 27:23Speaker 1: if you want to learn how to make you can
- 27:25Speaker 1: make money off Instagram. You can grow your own profitable,
- 27:28Speaker 1: profitable business off Instagram. You know. Um, it's a free resource.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You can create community in Instagram, like it is a
- 27:37Speaker 1: genius platform. I'm sure you know what I mean. Use it,
- 27:41Speaker 1: just use it to I found you well, best friends
- 27:46Speaker 1: don't press play. Um. And so when back in two
- 27:50Speaker 1: thousand and sixteen when I met Brittany, right, I just
- 27:53Speaker 1: moved back, um to California. I told you all went
- 27:57Speaker 1: to school in Virginia. It was there's a lot of
- 27:59Speaker 1: South America Kins and Central Americans there, but a lot
- 28:02Speaker 1: of them are like born not in the United States.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And I was, I'm like fourth generation, like I'm related
- 28:08Speaker 1: to the real life Zoro. That's how much we've been
- 28:10Speaker 1: in America. So I just kind of I kind of
- 28:11Speaker 1: don't relate. It's like, oh, you're not from hearing that
- 28:13Speaker 1: from there, like when you we were here and y'all
- 28:17Speaker 1: just changed it. Right. But anyway, so I was like
- 28:19Speaker 1: excited to be back in California, like excited to be back.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And I started following through Instagram. I saw like Belladonna,
- 28:25Speaker 1: and then I saw sand One and then she's having
- 28:28Speaker 1: a conference a workshop. So I go to the workshop
- 28:30Speaker 1: because she was sand One was like listen, don't be shy,
- 28:33Speaker 1: and if you don't have an idea, there's probably somebody
- 28:35Speaker 1: out there that you can help. So I was like,
- 28:37Speaker 1: all right, I'm not going to be shy. I knew
- 28:39Speaker 1: I wanted to design. I didn't have an idea, but
- 28:41Speaker 1: I wanted to work for like women and like my community.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And I just so happened to find the shop Lane
- 28:46Speaker 1: next Bits at the time hashtag and that's where so
- 28:49Speaker 1: really Sandone inspired me and Lalla Ramaro inspired me. So
- 28:53Speaker 1: I d m Brittany was like, Hey, you guys don't
- 28:55Speaker 1: have a website. I can make websites and I can
- 28:57Speaker 1: make logos and all that. And she's like, hey, I
- 28:59Speaker 1: can't pay you, Like I don't care. I just want
- 29:01Speaker 1: to be a part of this. And now two thousand
- 29:04Speaker 1: nineteen I was. I was the bouncer slash checking lady
- 29:07Speaker 1: her workshop, inspiring other people. So it's kind of like
- 29:11Speaker 1: all comes full circle. So even if you might not
- 29:13Speaker 1: think like someone might inspire you to go somewhere else
- 29:16Speaker 1: and then you'll meet somebody there like like shoutout Instagram,
- 29:19Speaker 1: sisterhood and mentorship from you know, women who've been doing
- 29:24Speaker 1: it longer. It's amazing to like La La has been
- 29:28Speaker 1: for all of us. She's like Yeah, she reaches out.
- 29:32Speaker 1: She reaches out like she cares, Like she'll text me
- 29:36Speaker 1: to see how I'm doing. I remember Shop a the
- 29:39Speaker 1: Next is just starting out. One of my friends connected
- 29:42Speaker 1: me with La La and I did a La La
- 29:44Speaker 1: brought me onto a photo shoot and every caption that
- 29:49Speaker 1: she you want to cry because like, you know what
- 29:51Speaker 1: I mean like sisterhood because in every caption she would
- 29:55Speaker 1: be like follow shop at the Next, you know what
- 29:57Speaker 1: I mean, it's a directory, Like she would plug me
- 29:59Speaker 1: every time she post me like she plug me. And um,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I did an interview with a lot like I interviewed
- 30:05Speaker 1: La La on shop at the Next and she was
- 30:07Speaker 1: like so happy to just contribute in any way she can,
- 30:11Speaker 1: you know, sister sisterhood, sisterhood. I'm trying, no, no, because
- 30:19Speaker 1: it's real. I mean, having that support and it does
- 30:22Speaker 1: make a difference. But does somebody helps to put you
- 30:24Speaker 1: on because there's like community trust in that person are.
- 30:28Speaker 1: The very first person that wrote an article about us
- 30:29Speaker 1: was King when she was working on Latina and that
- 30:32Speaker 1: was our very first feature. And she's like one of
- 30:34Speaker 1: the mommies, you know, So she was the first woman
- 30:36Speaker 1: to put us on. It makes a difference, And I
- 30:39Speaker 1: mean like we have to also get to a point
- 30:43Speaker 1: where when folks are reaching out to us or thinking
- 30:45Speaker 1: of ways that we can contribute to even though we're
- 30:48Speaker 1: not making money at that level, but we've learned things
- 30:50Speaker 1: and how can we pass things on? Because yeah, that
- 30:53Speaker 1: full circle stuff is real, and you don't know where
- 30:55Speaker 1: folks are going to end up in twenty years. You know,
- 30:59Speaker 1: we're just started. But I think like when we think
- 31:02Speaker 1: about who's going to make long lasting impacts, whether it's
- 31:04Speaker 1: an entertainment, in business, be us, I feel like we
- 31:09Speaker 1: have to keep track of each other because where are
- 31:10Speaker 1: we going to end up? You know? Yeah for sure? Yeah,
- 31:13Speaker 1: I actually posted that on my Instagram caption yesterday when
- 31:17Speaker 1: I was posting photos like recap photos of the last
- 31:19Speaker 1: half US event. Is basically like, when you're in a
- 31:22Speaker 1: position of influence, especially as a Latino or like a
- 31:26Speaker 1: woman of color, just know that there are young girls
- 31:29Speaker 1: watching you, watching you, wondering how you did it. You
- 31:33Speaker 1: know what I mean? I think taking the time aside
- 31:36Speaker 1: to be a mentor two, host events, host workshops, to
- 31:42Speaker 1: make yourself accessible to these young women and show them
- 31:45Speaker 1: how you did it, because we need more people in tech.
- 31:50Speaker 1: We need more women of color in these spaces that
- 31:55Speaker 1: we're in, you know, so always just using your even
- 31:58Speaker 1: for us to like we're not profitable. But at the
- 32:01Speaker 1: same time, like you said, I learned some things that
- 32:04Speaker 1: I can definitely share. That's why even with like the
- 32:07Speaker 1: podcasts that I listened to that I know dis is
- 32:10Speaker 1: starting to you know, she she's listened to some podcasts
- 32:12Speaker 1: because I posted it, And for me, I'm like, I
- 32:15Speaker 1: find the things that you find beneficial, like if you
- 32:17Speaker 1: have the time to post it or share it, like
- 32:20Speaker 1: do that you know, absolutely absolutely. This also brings me
- 32:25Speaker 1: um to kind of the theme of today, Like we
- 32:29Speaker 1: wanted to talk a little bit about gold digging and
- 32:31Speaker 1: you know, because as as you both have seen and
- 32:34Speaker 1: as you shared already, there's so many Latinos creating their
- 32:37Speaker 1: own businesses and hustling and trying to create revenue streams.
- 32:41Speaker 1: And what we like to do on this podcast is
- 32:43Speaker 1: take like old like stereotypes and negative tropes about women
- 32:47Speaker 1: and flip them and actually show like the other side
- 32:49Speaker 1: of the coin. So like we have this notion like
- 32:52Speaker 1: socially of gold diggers and women out to take men's money,
- 32:55Speaker 1: but then we look around at our actual lived experiences,
- 32:58Speaker 1: and there are no fucking men with money around them.
- 33:00Speaker 1: There are no men and the ones that are around
- 33:04Speaker 1: don't have any sucking money. Gold digging war where's the gold?
- 33:07Speaker 1: You know? And we see women out here, working, working, working, hustling,
- 33:11Speaker 1: trying to make it on our own, and I'm just
- 33:13Speaker 1: kind of wondering, like thoughts on that. Um, well, I
- 33:17Speaker 1: was we were just talking about earlier. There's this YouTube channel.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I forgot what it was, but they were talking about
- 33:22Speaker 1: the term gold digging and they're like, it was invented
- 33:24Speaker 1: by men who are fives that are mad that women
- 33:27Speaker 1: who are intends won't date them without money. And I
- 33:30Speaker 1: was like, I have to find that later and tell
- 33:33Speaker 1: you because that was like that makes a lot of fusions,
- 33:36Speaker 1: Like oh my god. But I think we want to
- 33:39Speaker 1: talk about two that like gold digging and sugar ing
- 33:41Speaker 1: are two different lanes, and I think people confuse that
- 33:45Speaker 1: like seeking arrangement, that's not gold digging, that's sugar and
- 33:48Speaker 1: the people who sign up, the men and women sign
- 33:50Speaker 1: up that want there, they know they're going to pay
- 33:53Speaker 1: money for that experience, Like that's a totally different arrangement.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Cause I think people get confused with that. No, sir
- 34:00Speaker 1: or madam or whoever they may be, you know what
- 34:03Speaker 1: you're getting into, correct, And there are men that actually
- 34:07Speaker 1: enjoy being doing the sugar ng right, are they? Like
- 34:10Speaker 1: you want to exactly? There's a splendid Yes, I have
- 34:15Speaker 1: a splendid daddy. My man is a slender daddy for sure.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You know, Steve, every person that you date should be
- 34:24Speaker 1: your splendor. Yeah. So there's this guy that's been following
- 34:30Speaker 1: me on social media for years and I've never met him.
- 34:33Speaker 1: He lives out of state, but he dems me one
- 34:36Speaker 1: day and he asked me. He's like, hey, like, would
- 34:38Speaker 1: it be okay with you if I sponsored your nails?
- 34:41Speaker 1: And so he sends me money every two weeks on
- 34:44Speaker 1: ben Mos, I can get my nails done. Yes, bitches
- 34:47Speaker 1: shout out. And so it's true there are, contrary to
- 34:52Speaker 1: popular belief, there are men out there who want to
- 34:54Speaker 1: spend their money on women, even with nothing in return.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Because I don't shout him out publicly or anything, and
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's not pract well, you give him a little nail view,
- 35:01Speaker 1: like a little I'm not tagging him. It's like private
- 35:05Speaker 1: on Venmo, you know what I mean. But it's just
- 35:06Speaker 1: the satisfaction of knowing that he's contributing. And so what
- 35:09Speaker 1: I find too is if you kind of put that
- 35:11Speaker 1: intention out there right, or you're open to it, or
- 35:14Speaker 1: you're kind of let it be known that, like, look,
- 35:16Speaker 1: if you want to correct the wage gap and send
- 35:18Speaker 1: you money, there's an opportunity to do so. And there
- 35:21Speaker 1: will be a man out there eventually and that wants to,
- 35:24Speaker 1: that wants to, and they only want to. Yeah, every woman,
- 35:27Speaker 1: every fem should have their cash shop, Venmo, PayPal and
- 35:32Speaker 1: their bio. And I can't stand people who are like,
- 35:36Speaker 1: oh my gosh, you know who shame it. Oh my gosh,
- 35:38Speaker 1: she posts your cash ap that's so cheesy. Okay, but
- 35:41Speaker 1: I'm so that's why because I've definitely all my birthday.
- 35:47Speaker 1: You know, there's some you know, I posted my Venmo,
- 35:51Speaker 1: I posted my cash shop, and men not me money
- 35:56Speaker 1: goods it? Or even the other day my car got
- 35:58Speaker 1: totaled and I'm so all good, it's all good, but
- 36:03Speaker 1: I just wrote my car got totaled, and um, I
- 36:07Speaker 1: had someone send me forty dollars, you know, and he
- 36:10Speaker 1: was just like, go go take yourself out to eat,
- 36:13Speaker 1: and um, yeah, So I had my I have so
- 36:18Speaker 1: um do you know that link It's called a link tree,
- 36:21Speaker 1: so link tree. I have that in my bio and
- 36:24Speaker 1: then I write, I just I think it's just like coffee,
- 36:27Speaker 1: money or something I have, and then that leads to
- 36:29Speaker 1: my papal good nice tips, listeners. Tiznetized your life, especially
- 36:37Speaker 1: you know you're posting those thirst traps. And Instagram is
- 36:40Speaker 1: a free platform, a free account. Are you not entertained? Right?
- 36:45Speaker 1: Like the leaf you can do? You know you can
- 36:48Speaker 1: do is buy me coffee? Right. I quote you guys
- 36:51Speaker 1: all the time, like when I'm with one of the
- 36:53Speaker 1: one time a week when I go outside because like, oh,
- 36:57Speaker 1: like this dude wants to buy me food or whatever.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I feel bad and I'm like, listen if you actually
- 37:01Speaker 1: listen to localtor radio to talk about the wage gap
- 37:04Speaker 1: all the time, and it's kind of like how you
- 37:06Speaker 1: feel it, you guys, And they're like wait and I'm
- 37:09Speaker 1: like a wage gap and then they like, I don't
- 37:13Speaker 1: feel bad more exactly, don't feel bad and if you know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: if you don't want to spend the money, then go
- 37:18Speaker 1: back to you. I tell my man all the time,
- 37:20Speaker 1: I'm like, I make fifty two cents to your dollar,
- 37:22Speaker 1: like literally, like, please buy me the number. Like it's
- 37:28Speaker 1: it's solid that it's not making up out of asses,
- 37:30Speaker 1: like and I mean, let's talk about doing it. You
- 37:33Speaker 1: you guys brought up r O I return on investment. Yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: let's talk about it, Okay. I think, Um, if you
- 37:42Speaker 1: take anything away from today, is it every relationship you
- 37:45Speaker 1: need a return on investment. You're investing your I think
- 37:49Speaker 1: time is the most valuable thing that you can give someone,
- 37:54Speaker 1: your time. If you're investing your time, attention, energy, energy,
- 38:00Speaker 1: nice fucking texting, you don't entertaining out makeup, makeup the
- 38:07Speaker 1: time it takes to drive from point A to point
- 38:09Speaker 1: Do you gas money on a person, especially a man
- 38:14Speaker 1: and expensive? And I got some hoops okay, and I
- 38:19Speaker 1: go bad. I told them, I'm sorry, madam, I have
- 38:21Speaker 1: a hook for a point. It's not that bench like,
- 38:24Speaker 1: oh my god. And then you know I need a
- 38:27Speaker 1: tip money. Yeah, that you need to really look at
- 38:32Speaker 1: your return on investment? What is Like I said this earlier,
- 38:36Speaker 1: we are all queens, okay, and we should be addressed
- 38:39Speaker 1: and courted as such. We need to stop letting ancient
- 38:45Speaker 1: men in our lives. When patriarchy, Yeah, the patriarchy. Like,
- 38:51Speaker 1: if you're putting all of this out, you need to
- 38:53Speaker 1: be getting shipped in return. You need to be taken
- 38:55Speaker 1: out on nice dates. Don't settle for cups of coffee, um,
- 39:00Speaker 1: don't settle for cafe like, no queen. You need to
- 39:04Speaker 1: be taken to no boo. You need to take it
- 39:06Speaker 1: out on a date. You need to go to concert.
- 39:09Speaker 1: You didn't go on trips, you know what I mean? Like,
- 39:13Speaker 1: I was in a relationship for two years in my
- 39:19Speaker 1: r o y, I'm not seeing it. I invested everything.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I invested monogamy. I invested in not going, not being
- 39:29Speaker 1: able to go on other dates and seeing other people.
- 39:31Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I was cooking, I was
- 39:34Speaker 1: acting like a wife eat to an ancient man that
- 39:36Speaker 1: was going God knows what, you know what I mean.
- 39:40Speaker 1: And it was putting in emotional labor I was. And
- 39:45Speaker 1: what did I get in return? It was nothing? It
- 39:48Speaker 1: was nothing. Right. One thing that I was, you know,
- 39:53Speaker 1: we were talking about before we started recording, was like,
- 39:56Speaker 1: so the women, right, the fens are putting in all
- 39:59Speaker 1: of this work, right, all this emotional labor, this mental labor,
- 40:02Speaker 1: everything right, And the men that especially the ancient men, right,
- 40:07Speaker 1: are not giving anything in return? Right, it's not reciprocated. Um,
- 40:12Speaker 1: so who's actually the gold digger right now? He's actually
- 40:16Speaker 1: like taking advantage of the labor. That's labor. Where the goal,
- 40:21Speaker 1: that's what it is. Where the gold? So who is
- 40:24Speaker 1: the gold digger? Actually? Exactly? Our youth, our energy are youth.
- 40:31Speaker 1: And because women we get so easily devalued when once
- 40:34Speaker 1: we start aging, we have a limited amount of time,
- 40:37Speaker 1: is right, and to waste that when men are allowed
- 40:41Speaker 1: so many more years of being considered young and smart
- 40:46Speaker 1: and like you know, like important, right, and we get
- 40:49Speaker 1: written off when we enter our thirties and ship I was,
- 40:51Speaker 1: I don't have the time to wait, I was going
- 40:53Speaker 1: to touch on that. I'm glad you said that on
- 40:55Speaker 1: the thirties. Like there, Well, I don't know what it
- 40:57Speaker 1: is about. I mean, I know what it is that societal, right,
- 41:00Speaker 1: the implications of a woman turning thirty, right, of not
- 41:03Speaker 1: being an old maiden. But there's like this horrible, horrible
- 41:06Speaker 1: like timer that we're on that we have to accomplish
- 41:08Speaker 1: all these things before we're thirty. But why, you know
- 41:11Speaker 1: what I mean, why like why do we have to
- 41:14Speaker 1: be married before thirty, have kids before thirty, have hell
- 41:17Speaker 1: of money invested, like in our savings and stocks and
- 41:20Speaker 1: all that ship before thirty, Like why and men are
- 41:23Speaker 1: out here fifty trying to bag barely get barely, like
- 41:30Speaker 1: getting by, like have barely emotionally matured guy at fifty.
- 41:35Speaker 1: But I love what you said, you know, so we're
- 41:37Speaker 1: the gold. Yes, we need to start treating ourselves as
- 41:41Speaker 1: sadly you know what I mean, like or like in
- 41:43Speaker 1: expecting more, you know exactly, you know what I was.
- 41:50Speaker 1: You'all seen that movie. Um, he's not just that into you.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I think what people think about because we hear these
- 41:56Speaker 1: cases like oh this guy is paying for this girl's
- 41:59Speaker 1: apartment and like surgerence, Like you know, that's the exception.
- 42:03Speaker 1: The rule is that men are not giving you that much.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Maybe some gas money, maybe somenail money, if they're into it.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Nothing wrong, We do not kink shame here, but that
- 42:15Speaker 1: that's not that's the exception, you guys. And that's what
- 42:17Speaker 1: people like think, like, oh, they're getting this stuff all time,
- 42:19Speaker 1: Like no, they're very much not. That's a professional girlfriend.
- 42:22Speaker 1: That's a very rare job. I would love to be
- 42:24Speaker 1: professional girlf But like but like, you know, there's not
- 42:27Speaker 1: that many women, Like I don't know anyone who's like
- 42:30Speaker 1: that's their full time job. They exist, but it's very
- 42:32Speaker 1: like it's the exception, it's not the rule. Yeah, you
- 42:34Speaker 1: know this is and and it's so complicated because it's like,
- 42:38Speaker 1: we want these things for ourselves, right, but you can't
- 42:41Speaker 1: get a man to want to take care of you
- 42:44Speaker 1: and to want like that desire needs to come from within,
- 42:47Speaker 1: and I think that's one of the things that's so
- 42:49Speaker 1: hard to find. It's a genuine desire from within to
- 42:52Speaker 1: take care of their fami, their female partner, and um,
- 42:55Speaker 1: when you find that person, right, then it's also like, okay,
- 43:00Speaker 1: but are you also providing everything else as far as
- 43:03Speaker 1: partnership goes, because that's important, but it can't be everything
- 43:07Speaker 1: or they'll do it and they'll have like string attached world. Okay, everything,
- 43:10Speaker 1: So I'm gonna need you to stay at home. You're
- 43:12Speaker 1: not gonna have any friends, like you know, Like that's
- 43:14Speaker 1: when it becomes abusive, right, It becomes this leveraging of power.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Who has the power what he does because he has
- 43:20Speaker 1: the money, right, and I can't go anywhere and I
- 43:22Speaker 1: can't leave also because now he has all the power,
- 43:26Speaker 1: you know, so exactly. It has to like exactly what
- 43:29Speaker 1: mall said. It has to have all the other things.
- 43:31Speaker 1: It can't just be the money, right, And that's very
- 43:33Speaker 1: rare to fine. That's why I don't know. That's why
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm not dating right now. I'm like, stay away, demons.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I'm not dating right now because no one's asking me.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I mean, I'm too busy. I remember Brie and I spoke,
- 43:47Speaker 1: what are the kind of guys that you attract? Oh
- 43:50Speaker 1: my god, So y'all ever seen spring Breakers? Okay? Um,
- 43:54Speaker 1: y'all know that rapper riff raff. Yes, don't please Okay,
- 43:58Speaker 1: because like everybody tried to certain types. So like the
- 44:01Speaker 1: time that likes me is like super tall, super skinny,
- 44:04Speaker 1: like white boy probably has a grill. It's like I
- 44:10Speaker 1: don't and they come to me like flies the honey,
- 44:12Speaker 1: and I'm like, what is it about me that? Like
- 44:15Speaker 1: she was like the other day, like a couple of
- 44:16Speaker 1: months ago, She's like, yeah, I attract like former meth
- 44:19Speaker 1: heads for sure. Oh yeah, yeah, I can't. Like I
- 44:25Speaker 1: don't like you guys, Like, I'm sorry that I don't
- 44:28Speaker 1: know what And then't you like hoppits or like meatballs,
- 44:30Speaker 1: like what's your type? Because I'm not and they're always
- 44:33Speaker 1: like stupid tall like six four plus and I'm like, no, sir,
- 44:37Speaker 1: I am a hobbit. No ude, Well I can't wait
- 44:41Speaker 1: to see who you end up with me, dude, like
- 44:44Speaker 1: I it was like a gift challenge and it was
- 44:46Speaker 1: like rushing its like it's me. I'm loving me right
- 44:49Speaker 1: now unless you're gonna get me a surloan misteak right,
- 44:52Speaker 1: and we can to wright and some cold stone like
- 44:55Speaker 1: you said, yes, so got a habit size. This is
- 44:57Speaker 1: a good segue into kays. We want to know about
- 45:00Speaker 1: ho kis? What does your ho k it look like? So,
- 45:03Speaker 1: if you're new to the podcast, hok it is, you
- 45:07Speaker 1: know what you're gonna put in your bag for your hotivities? Right,
- 45:10Speaker 1: you can keep it in your car and your bag
- 45:12Speaker 1: at your booze place whatever wherever that may be, right,
- 45:15Speaker 1: and it has your your very specific essential your accouterments
- 45:19Speaker 1: for your Okay, so I think for me, toothbrush, toothpaste, yep, breathmans.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I always like to lotion lotion from like Bathom body
- 45:32Speaker 1: Works like very Melly. I like rub it on myself,
- 45:35Speaker 1: you know, on my cards and all that and um
- 45:37Speaker 1: condoms because we need to be safe out here, and
- 45:41Speaker 1: you cannot expect them to provide them because they won't.
- 45:45Speaker 1: They'll run out supposedly supposedly us like with the condom
- 45:53Speaker 1: on right. That's the other problem with the whole other car.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Another pocast day. Do we got time? What clean? Like?
- 46:05Speaker 1: I don't liar, I don't give a fun I don't
- 46:07Speaker 1: belieber exactly y'all lie exactly. They literally I assume that
- 46:14Speaker 1: they're all lying to me at all time. You should.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I assume they all have kids at home, they have
- 46:18Speaker 1: a wife and a girlfriend, they tend to and they
- 46:20Speaker 1: haven't been tested in five years because I do attract
- 46:24Speaker 1: like guys who have like a girlfriend or wife at home.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I don't looking for that. Like what about me? Says
- 46:30Speaker 1: side Ho and love riff raft What is it about me?
- 46:34Speaker 1: But yeah, that happens to me constantly. Dude. What's in
- 46:36Speaker 1: your home kit? Brief? Okay we talked about earlier, but
- 46:39Speaker 1: essentials Um is a sampler perfume. So if you need
- 46:43Speaker 1: to throw it away, it's like, don't worry about it's
- 46:45Speaker 1: not your good perfume. And just till like this year.
- 46:48Speaker 1: I'd never had an iPhone, so I couldn't count if
- 46:50Speaker 1: they had a charger, so I bought my own charger,
- 46:53Speaker 1: and then I always bring out like a taser or
- 46:56Speaker 1: a stun gun or something to protect myself with. Yes,
- 46:58Speaker 1: and you have your your with you? Yes? Yes, Okay
- 47:07Speaker 1: should I put it this close? Okay? You guys ready, yes, ready, yeah,
- 47:23Speaker 1: because I love it. I grew up in a very
- 47:27Speaker 1: like um well, both my parents are taurus Is, so
- 47:30Speaker 1: you know, very stubborn protective. But on my mom's side,
- 47:34Speaker 1: random story, they my grandfather and all like there's like
- 47:37Speaker 1: siblings mastered in kung fu San Su and they were
- 47:40Speaker 1: like the first people in America to like master that. Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 1: so she's bad. She thinks she's Batman. So I came
- 47:46Speaker 1: up with like ninja stars throwing in my face and
- 47:49Speaker 1: she had sad my sword side. And my dad is
- 47:51Speaker 1: just like crazy too because he's also a tourist, so
- 47:53Speaker 1: he taught us all these girls how to do so
- 47:55Speaker 1: it's it's a Filipino knife fighting technique and it's like
- 47:58Speaker 1: the three and nine. I think I think you guys
- 47:59Speaker 1: talked about survival are so literally imagine my five year
- 48:04Speaker 1: old little like half sister who was like blonde with
- 48:06Speaker 1: a practice knife, going to like a dummy bobby like
- 48:08Speaker 1: jugular juggular side like a part twist intestines like, so
- 48:13Speaker 1: both sides like they were very like into like self
- 48:16Speaker 1: defense important, really important to teach your children. Yeah, Like
- 48:21Speaker 1: it was kind of disturbing because she was doing at
- 48:22Speaker 1: school and they're like, dude, you can be honest. You
- 48:24Speaker 1: can also teach them that. She was like, I love it.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Teach your daughters how to use the knife. Yeah, another
- 48:34Speaker 1: thing and other things. Damn that's a good home best.
- 48:42Speaker 1: I love it. Oh my god, this has been an amazing,
- 48:44Speaker 1: amazing interview. Thank you so much for coming so much.
- 48:47Speaker 1: This interview has been long overdue, and I'm so happy

- 49:14Speaker 1: I promise you. Like he's been long overdue. I think
- 49:17Speaker 1: I was like really nervous. I'm like, what do I
- 49:20Speaker 1: have to say? Like what, I'm here, and I'm really
- 49:23Speaker 1: truly blessed. No, Brie, I mean Brie and Bread. You're
