- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard line. Second to D
- 0:07Speaker 1: eight three wide receivers now in motion has Bumpas left
- 0:11Speaker 1: to right, Julius Jones with single setback Matt Pupfeck's looking
- 0:14Speaker 1: at the goal line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. You
- 0:33Speaker 1: are listening to Hawk Talk Recap edition with Michael Bumpas
- 0:37Speaker 1: along with Nasa Choby. Does Seahawks beat the Cardinals twenty
- 0:40Speaker 1: eight to twenty one and get some revenge? And like
- 0:43Speaker 1: we always do, let's go into the trenches with Ray
- 0:46Speaker 1: Robinson talk about it. It's time to go inside the
- 0:50Speaker 1: trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts. Big Ray, Good morning man,
- 0:56Speaker 1: How you doing. I'm hanging in that big dog. How
- 0:58Speaker 1: are you feeling? Hey? All is well over here. The
- 1:02Speaker 1: Hawks get it done, like I mentioned, twenty eight to
- 1:04Speaker 1: twenty one and the very first thing I had to
- 1:06Speaker 1: ask you before the game. A little birdie told us
- 1:10Speaker 1: that Damian Lewis might be playing center. The rookie goes
- 1:13Speaker 1: out there, stumbles at first. I believe he had what
- 1:16Speaker 1: a fumble he got be and he had a penalty.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Other than that, did he settle down? Did he get going?
- 1:22Speaker 1: What you see out of the youngster? You know, for
- 1:26Speaker 1: what he was being asked to do, a lot of
- 1:28Speaker 1: those things were to be expected. I thought it was
- 1:32Speaker 1: a little unfair for them to run a pass play
- 1:35Speaker 1: on his very first snap. I thought they should have
- 1:38Speaker 1: maybe given him a chance to just fire off the
- 1:39Speaker 1: ball a little bit, just to kind of get his
- 1:41Speaker 1: seat wet. But after that, I think he settled down
- 1:44Speaker 1: and he played pretty good. The one thing I like
- 1:47Speaker 1: about Damian Lewis is that, you know, in the press
- 1:49Speaker 1: conference after the game, he said that he told the
- 1:52Speaker 1: coach that he will do whatever he has to do,
- 1:54Speaker 1: And to me, that means to do this just a
- 1:56Speaker 1: football player. It doesn't matter where you put him. He's
- 1:59Speaker 1: tending to figure it out, gone to figure out a
- 2:00Speaker 1: way to be successful in it. As a game went on,
- 2:02Speaker 1: and he looked a little bit more comfortable with it,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and you have to also consider that when you're playing
- 2:09Speaker 1: in that position. He's never had to do a double
- 2:12Speaker 1: team with Mikey Potty. He's never had to do a
- 2:14Speaker 1: double team with Jamarco Jones, you know, so like it's
- 2:18Speaker 1: even just the people around him made it was a
- 2:20Speaker 1: little bit uncomfortable. But I thought he played pretty good.
- 2:23Speaker 1: This is a good game to put him there. They
- 2:25Speaker 1: had a lot of injuries on the defensive line, so
- 2:27Speaker 1: maybe not as talented of a player that he was
- 2:30Speaker 1: playing against. And I think he settled into what they
- 2:33Speaker 1: were asking him to do and he did a good job. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm with you, Ray. People think that you can just
- 2:37Speaker 1: switch positions on that offensive line and it's all gravy.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Now there's some adjustments that needs to be made. I
- 2:44Speaker 1: was happy the young man got it done. Now, all year,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you've been asking this football team to really implement the run,
- 2:51Speaker 1: not to just be run heavy, but to have purpose.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I believe is what you said. With your run. We
- 2:56Speaker 1: saw that last night were Carlos hide. I think as
- 2:58Speaker 1: a team they rushed for one hundred sick five yards.
- 3:01Speaker 1: How did you feel about the balance that we saw
- 3:03Speaker 1: last night? You know, I loved it because, uh it
- 3:07Speaker 1: looked like a like it looked like one game plan,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and I think that was the word I kept I've
- 3:13Speaker 1: been using this. They needed to marry the run game
- 3:16Speaker 1: to the passing game. And so it didn't really matter
- 3:19Speaker 1: to me if they dropped back and through it forty
- 3:21Speaker 1: times and only ran it twenty times, as long as
- 3:25Speaker 1: those twenty runs were part of an offensive game plan
- 3:29Speaker 1: and not like they, oh, well, maybe we should run
- 3:32Speaker 1: it right here. So it really felt like a really
- 3:34Speaker 1: cohesive game plan. And so then it just so happened
- 3:38Speaker 1: that you had a veteran running back back there, a
- 3:41Speaker 1: guy that's more north and south uh and can and
- 3:44Speaker 1: can turn a five yard game into eight or nine
- 3:47Speaker 1: or ten yard game or two yard game into a
- 3:49Speaker 1: five yard game. Uh. And so he was able to
- 3:52Speaker 1: find the creases that the offensive line was creating and
- 3:55Speaker 1: and get and finding that space and getting those yards.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So I was really pleased with the way he looks.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He looks fresh, He looked u quick and and and agile.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And then I'm telling you this offensive one wants to
- 4:09Speaker 1: run the football. And I think that that they This
- 4:13Speaker 1: was a statement game for them, not just to the
- 4:16Speaker 1: fans of Seattle, but to the to the coaching staff
- 4:19Speaker 1: of Seattle that we can do this. Put someone back there,
- 4:23Speaker 1: give us an opportunity to get into a rhythm running
- 4:26Speaker 1: the ball, and we can You know, not that you
- 4:28Speaker 1: can pick any guy off the street to put back there,
- 4:30Speaker 1: but if you have a quality like I really feel
- 4:33Speaker 1: like if DJ Dallas had had to play last night,
- 4:36Speaker 1: with the way the offensive line was blocking, he would
- 4:38Speaker 1: have been close to some of the same production because
- 4:41Speaker 1: it would have been it would have been hard to
- 4:42Speaker 1: miss the holes that were there. Yeah, I agree that
- 4:45Speaker 1: offensive line seemed like they had some pepp in the
- 4:48Speaker 1: steff firing off the football, Dwayne Brown doing what he does,
- 4:51Speaker 1: dominating guys as well. Now, Russell Wilson, he's been getting
- 4:54Speaker 1: some heat over the last few weeks, been turning the
- 4:56Speaker 1: football over. He seemed to make better decisions last night,
- 5:01Speaker 1: tuck the ball and ran. I believe he had ten
- 5:03Speaker 1: carries last night for about sixty yards. What did you
- 5:06Speaker 1: see out of Russell Wilson? Did you like his decision making? It?
- 5:09Speaker 1: Is this the type of game you feel like the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Hawks need from him? Yeah? I think so, because you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: we talked before the game about there was just this
- 5:17Speaker 1: idea that they were simplifying the game for Russell. And
- 5:21Speaker 1: Russell was a really smart, smart guy, and he knows
- 5:24Speaker 1: this offense as well as anybody. So it wasn't a
- 5:27Speaker 1: matter of Russell not being able to process what the
- 5:31Speaker 1: defense was doing or what they were trying to get
- 5:33Speaker 1: done on the offense. I think, like I said before,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think it was a clarification of what are our
- 5:38Speaker 1: desired outcomes. A desired outcomes or to move the ball,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, advanced the ball down to field, score points,
- 5:44Speaker 1: win the game. It wasn't to throw fifty touchdowns or
- 5:47Speaker 1: get MVP votes or let Russ do whatever people want
- 5:51Speaker 1: him to do in the kitchen. It was to get
- 5:53Speaker 1: move the ball down to field, score touchdowns and win
- 5:56Speaker 1: the football game. And so if you look at how
- 5:58Speaker 1: Russell was some role in the game, it's still his offense.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You know, there was a he mentioned in his press conference,
- 6:04Speaker 1: checking out of past plays and getting getting to run
- 6:07Speaker 1: plays that were favorable and those types of things. So
- 6:10Speaker 1: Russell has still been able to do his thing. Just
- 6:13Speaker 1: how he gets to doing those things may look a
- 6:15Speaker 1: little different. So I was really pleased with it. When
- 6:18Speaker 1: I was driving home last night, Uh, you know, I
- 6:20Speaker 1: was listening to some old Motown music and uh, and
- 6:23Speaker 1: there were some songs I think I posted on that.
- 6:25Speaker 1: One was called I Miss You and the other one
- 6:27Speaker 1: was called the Undisputed Truth. And so I think that
- 6:31Speaker 1: last night, Uh, them returning to that old school type
- 6:35Speaker 1: of football that they've always played was is the formula
- 6:39Speaker 1: that they need. And then when you go into the game,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you need Russell to pass for four hundred yards. He
- 6:44Speaker 1: can still do that. But this is the foundation of
- 6:47Speaker 1: what this team is. This is the character of what
- 6:49Speaker 1: this team is. This is the soul of what Pete
- 6:52Speaker 1: Carroll brings to this organization. So it was good. It
- 6:55Speaker 1: was good for them to revisit that, to kind of
- 6:57Speaker 1: calm themselves down and get them recentered. Yeah, I agree
- 7:01Speaker 1: with you. It's nice to just to see them win
- 7:04Speaker 1: in a variety of ways. Right, You don't just have
- 7:06Speaker 1: to win one way, and during the football season, you're
- 7:09Speaker 1: gonna be asked to win a bunch of different ways.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So I'm with you, Ray, this is old school Benches.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Russell Wilson right here in twenty three or twenty eight,
- 7:16Speaker 1: two touchdowns, nothing overwhelming, but he got it done. So
- 7:20Speaker 1: now we showed the offense some love. We gotta go
- 7:23Speaker 1: over to this defense. Guys are not guys. Fans have
- 7:27Speaker 1: been yelling, oh, get rid of kid Norn. They don't
- 7:29Speaker 1: know what they're doing. One we taught everybody to calm down.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He is a professional. Pizzas professional. They're gonna go and
- 7:36Speaker 1: figure some things out. They were able to hold one
- 7:39Speaker 1: of the if not the best rushing offense to fifty
- 7:42Speaker 1: seven yards rushing. Kyler Murray had fifteen yards rushing and
- 7:46Speaker 1: no touchdowns. Previously this he had scored with his feet
- 7:50Speaker 1: and his arm in five consecutive games. What you see
- 7:53Speaker 1: out of this defense to really slow these guys down, Well,
- 7:56Speaker 1: what the first thing you saw was some help right
- 7:59Speaker 1: along the the defensive line. Uh, you know, getting getting
- 8:03Speaker 1: some of those guys healthy, Green and Mayoa back on
- 8:06Speaker 1: the on the field. Uh. And then they look like
- 8:09Speaker 1: they just played with more purpose. You know. I think
- 8:12Speaker 1: you know in the press conference, it was a scene
- 8:15Speaker 1: throughout the press conference, this idea that there's a lot
- 8:18Speaker 1: of new pieces here that don't really know the culture
- 8:23Speaker 1: of this team because they weren't able to go through
- 8:25Speaker 1: those preseason games. They weren't able to go through those
- 8:28Speaker 1: those tough two of their practices and things like that
- 8:30Speaker 1: when they get to really get acclimated to what the
- 8:33Speaker 1: culture is here, and that may be it may sound
- 8:35Speaker 1: like a little uh, you know not it may sound
- 8:40Speaker 1: a little fruity, I guess as the word I can
- 8:42Speaker 1: come up with, because every team has a culture, so
- 8:45Speaker 1: to speak, but here it really is part of how
- 8:48Speaker 1: they play, how they think, how they go about it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So you heard dun laugh talking about the positivity that's here, uh,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you know, him celebrating with his his coach, h his
- 8:59Speaker 1: his you a nation, the excitement that he's gotten, him
- 9:03Speaker 1: sharing you know, uh plan to the fans that are
- 9:05Speaker 1: not there, like all those types of things. You heard
- 9:08Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner talk about it like he wished that the
- 9:10Speaker 1: twelves were there so that the new guys could feel
- 9:13Speaker 1: what's that's like? You know. So I think more guys,
- 9:16Speaker 1: more of these new pieces, are starting to understand the
- 9:20Speaker 1: not just the game plan, but just the philosophy of
- 9:23Speaker 1: how they approach football here and what the culture in
- 9:26Speaker 1: the locker room is. And then then I think that
- 9:29Speaker 1: starts to show up on the field. I mean, there's
- 9:31Speaker 1: a there's a lot of new people. Even with the
- 9:33Speaker 1: injuries in the secondary, all the different guys that were
- 9:36Speaker 1: playing dudes that haven't been in this in this program
- 9:39Speaker 1: very long. Uh. It takes time to kind of you know,
- 9:42Speaker 1: for the thing of Carlos dune Lass for for eleven years,
- 9:45Speaker 1: he's in this basically losing uh program, and then he
- 9:49Speaker 1: comes here and he's going like you have to question
- 9:52Speaker 1: some of the positivity because you go like, man, like
- 9:54Speaker 1: where I came from, this just wasn't flying, So it's
- 9:56Speaker 1: kind of hard to receive that. But now I think
- 9:59Speaker 1: he sees how j anyone and uh, how genuine that is. Uh.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And now he's bought into it. So you saw the
- 10:05Speaker 1: excitement in this press Concy dude does the best press
- 10:08Speaker 1: conferences ever. But h but I think that's a big
- 10:11Speaker 1: part of the turnaround on the defense. I'm with you, Ray,
- 10:15Speaker 1: they're bought in and I'm bought into everything you say
- 10:17Speaker 1: is you'd be spending that knowledge big home. Yeah, I
- 10:19Speaker 1: appreciate you taking your time out of your day. Excuse
- 10:22Speaker 1: me your morning. How it going, man, Yeah, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's it's early. It felt like we've just walked out
- 10:28Speaker 1: of the stadium ten minutes ago. But uh, it's a
- 10:32Speaker 1: good feeling. Uh to go into the the to the
- 10:35Speaker 1: saintsgiving week, Uh, feeling good about the Seahawks. The Seahawks
- 10:38Speaker 1: that are feeling good about how they played and where
- 10:40Speaker 1: they're headed, and then the and then the home stretch
- 10:43Speaker 1: of games are very favorable, favorable for them, So everyone
- 10:47Speaker 1: has to be feeling a little bit better eating some
- 10:49Speaker 1: of that uh that turkey. Uh next week. I'm with you,
- 10:55Speaker 1: all right, Ray, I talked to you. Yeah, piece out
- 10:59Speaker 1: all right. You know what, I'm not even gonna Let's
- 11:01Speaker 1: not even play no games. Let's bring NASA Choby in
- 11:04Speaker 1: and what had happened and let's holl at them see
- 11:06Speaker 1: what had happened. At first what had happened was un talking.
- 11:13Speaker 1: What had happened was is victory Friday here at the vMac,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks takedown the Cardinals twenty eight, twenty one and bump.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Let me tell you something, man, it feels good. It
- 11:24Speaker 1: feels we're so spoiled down here. It feels like it's been,
- 11:26Speaker 1: you know, three months since we had a victory out here. Man.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I'm just I'm jacked all fired up. Ray got me going.
- 11:32Speaker 1: The Seahawks get back to doing we talk about all
- 11:35Speaker 1: the time, and it's owning the NFC West. This is
- 11:37Speaker 1: the biggest win of the season, no question about it.
- 11:40Speaker 1: If they would have lost last night, it would have
- 11:41Speaker 1: really been difficult for them to get back in the division. Ray,
- 11:44Speaker 1: So it's a huge win to beat the Cardinals at home.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And the other thing, bump is the Seahawks got back
- 11:49Speaker 1: to what's been so successful over the entirety of the
- 11:52Speaker 1: Pete Carroll era, and that's a quality run game paired
- 11:55Speaker 1: with the defense that made plays, got off the field,
- 11:57Speaker 1: came down with big stops and that's just winning foot ball.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You know, we've all been talking about let Russ blank,
- 12:03Speaker 1: let Russ blank, all this stuff, this and that. While
- 12:07Speaker 1: we can still do that because Russell Wilson, in my opinion,
- 12:09Speaker 1: still the best player in football. He can still do
- 12:12Speaker 1: all those things. You need to have some support. And
- 12:15Speaker 1: the team look completely different last night, something we haven't
- 12:17Speaker 1: seen all year, because they were able to have a
- 12:20Speaker 1: successful run game and it definitely helped compliment Russell Wilson
- 12:23Speaker 1: all that long. Yeah, successful run game one hundred and
- 12:27Speaker 1: ninety seven yards, and then they held the Arizona Cardinals
- 12:30Speaker 1: to under sixty yards rushing, which is crazy. When you
- 12:33Speaker 1: have Murray Dre Edmond's back there. The way they've been performing,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you would hope that they just hover around one hundred yards,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but under sixty yards is great. The time of possession,
- 12:43Speaker 1: Jim Miller last night really brought this to our attention.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Thirty five minutes of twenty four. That means that your
- 12:50Speaker 1: offense is working the ball down the field slowly. It
- 12:53Speaker 1: wasn't that really explosive offense that we're used to see him.
- 12:56Speaker 1: There were some explosive plays, but I'm okay with this
- 12:58Speaker 1: style of football, they're gonna be games like this. You're
- 13:00Speaker 1: gonna have to win ball games this way to keep
- 13:03Speaker 1: explosive offices off the field. When we're talking about the
- 13:05Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals, I liked the play calling early in the game.
- 13:09Speaker 1: In one series, we saw a scream, an audible quads,
- 13:14Speaker 1: a rollout, quick game. They covered it all. When it
- 13:17Speaker 1: came to their offense, it seemed they checked every box
- 13:19Speaker 1: they needed to check. Oh, for sure, Russell and Shott
- 13:22Speaker 1: he had it going. Last night on the preview podcast,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I mentioned I wanted to see them get back to
- 13:28Speaker 1: other teams having to deal with us, other teams having
- 13:30Speaker 1: to adjust to us instead of being the other way around,
- 13:33Speaker 1: and that was the thing. Russell took everything that was
- 13:36Speaker 1: given to him when they brought pressure. He got the
- 13:38Speaker 1: hot route, he got the ball out, he dumped it
- 13:40Speaker 1: off a couple of times with hide or Dallas or
- 13:42Speaker 1: the tight ends, and everything we did, like you said,
- 13:45Speaker 1: we were creative. I feel like for the very different
- 13:48Speaker 1: from the second half last time he plays at Cardinals
- 13:50Speaker 1: is they were reacting to us. We had everything going,
- 13:52Speaker 1: everything was working. There was rhythm, there was good, long
- 13:55Speaker 1: sustained drives, which is you love to see. And defensively,
- 13:58Speaker 1: Kylin Murray finished the game with a season low fifteen
- 14:01Speaker 1: rush yards. The cards are one eight one over the
- 14:04Speaker 1: last two seasons when Murray is held under thirty yards
- 14:07Speaker 1: and how did they do that? Contain, contain and wrap
- 14:11Speaker 1: him up. It seemed like there was a play that
- 14:13Speaker 1: just signified everything that this defense needed to be Last night,
- 14:17Speaker 1: kJ Right is one on one with Kyler Murray. Doesn't
- 14:20Speaker 1: take the babe, keep someone his inside shoulder, allows his
- 14:24Speaker 1: help to work for him. That lets me know that
- 14:26Speaker 1: they came with a game plan and these guys were
- 14:28Speaker 1: able to execute it. It's tough to keep a man
- 14:31Speaker 1: like Kyler Murray under fifteen yards rushing. That's ridiculous. No,
- 14:34Speaker 1: it's unbelievable. And you talk about the total defensive number
- 14:37Speaker 1: for the Seahawks, Like we mentioned, the Seahawks have been
- 14:40Speaker 1: taking a lot of heat all season long, and they
- 14:42Speaker 1: have given up all yards and a lot of points.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Well against Arizona, it might not seem like a lot,
- 14:47Speaker 1: but this was their season love. They only gave up
- 14:49Speaker 1: three hundred and fourteen yards and that's their season love
- 14:51Speaker 1: by a lot, and only allowed twenty one points for
- 14:54Speaker 1: the first time all the year. So they had it going.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So I think for everyone that has been throwing shade
- 14:58Speaker 1: that Ken Norton has been throwing shade that everyone on defense,
- 15:02Speaker 1: y'all need to back up and give some credit to
- 15:04Speaker 1: where credit is due, because once again the defense belt
- 15:07Speaker 1: off of what we saw in the second half against
- 15:09Speaker 1: the Rams, took that into this game, which is the
- 15:11Speaker 1: first time we've seen them go from game to game,
- 15:14Speaker 1: and they definitely you know, they brought their lunch pin
- 15:15Speaker 1: and they went to work. Man, they went to work.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And now they are back on top of the division,
- 15:20Speaker 1: sitting at first place. Will set up and the three
- 15:22Speaker 1: will wait until Monday to see what the Rams do.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But for now it belongs to the Hawks that's getting
- 15:28Speaker 1: too Playmakers, playmakers, all right, play make us Russell Wilson
- 15:43Speaker 1: number three, the quarterback, number three on the jersey, number
- 15:46Speaker 1: one in your hearts, efficient twenty three for twenty eight,
- 15:49Speaker 1: one hundred ninety seven yards in two touchdowns. Most importantly,
- 15:53Speaker 1: zero turnovers, bump and last last Monday, it really hurt
- 15:57Speaker 1: my heart. And it was the first time all season
- 15:59Speaker 1: that I left Russell off. Playmakers last week, Dang yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 1: it was the first time in the last time in
- 16:05Speaker 1: the history of this podcast, because my guy was coming out,
- 16:07Speaker 1: he was falling, took with the defense gave him, always
- 16:10Speaker 1: got us into the correct play. Wilson earned his ninety
- 16:12Speaker 1: third career win as a starter. He passes Peyton mannings
- 16:15Speaker 1: ninety two for the most by any QB in his
- 16:17Speaker 1: first nine seasons in NFL history. Now he also joins
- 16:22Speaker 1: bred Farr Drew Brees as the only quarterbacks in NFL
- 16:25Speaker 1: history with thirty plus passing touchdowns in four consecutive seasons.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Even with the struggles he had the last few weeks,
- 16:33Speaker 1: he is still breaking records. But zero turnovers, that's huge
- 16:37Speaker 1: with a defense that is struggling but getting better because
- 16:40Speaker 1: they are getting better. I saw a lot of good
- 16:42Speaker 1: things last night. I hope okay, yep. I was gonna
- 16:44Speaker 1: mention the guy, but you got him on our playmaker,
- 16:46Speaker 1: so I'll save that comment for later. But a defense
- 16:49Speaker 1: that has been struggling but getting better, you have to
- 16:51Speaker 1: protect the ball. Ball security, job security, russelling going nowhere.
- 16:55Speaker 1: He could have thrown three picks this week. But it's
- 16:58Speaker 1: nice to see the most bounsible man on this football
- 17:01Speaker 1: team be responsible with the football. Okay, another playmaker, Carlos
- 17:06Speaker 1: Hide fourteen carry, seventy nine yards, one touchdown, two receptions
- 17:10Speaker 1: for sixteen yards. First game back since Week six, and
- 17:14Speaker 1: he looks healthy. There was a burst. He was seeing
- 17:17Speaker 1: the gaps in the line and he was filling the
- 17:19Speaker 1: flow of that offensive line. He brought a downhill running
- 17:22Speaker 1: style that we've missed in this offensive past few weeks. No, absolutely,
- 17:26Speaker 1: and that's no disrespect to Alice Collins, Travis Homer or
- 17:29Speaker 1: any of those guys, but Carlos Hide, definitely. You saw
- 17:32Speaker 1: something different in the game last night. You saw him
- 17:34Speaker 1: run over Patrick Peterson, you saw him running over guys
- 17:36Speaker 1: in the secondary. You saw him finding ways to get
- 17:39Speaker 1: the extra yards that we just haven't seen the last
- 17:41Speaker 1: couple of weeks, so you loved to see from Carlos side,
- 17:43Speaker 1: and it just kind of speaks to what we talked
- 17:45Speaker 1: about balance. We're talked about balance a ton in the
- 17:47Speaker 1: prem postgame show, and this was just a second time
- 17:50Speaker 1: all season where the Seahawks had more runs and passes. Obviously,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Russell Wilson had about ten scrambles for forty two yards,
- 17:56Speaker 1: but I'll loop that all in because they had balance,
- 17:58Speaker 1: and a lot of that was because Carlos Hyde was
- 18:00Speaker 1: successful running the football. Hyde was successful, and Tyler Lockett
- 18:04Speaker 1: did what he does. Nine receptions, sixty seven yards and
- 18:07Speaker 1: one touchdown. Now that doesn't seem like much, but now
- 18:10Speaker 1: Lockett joined Jerry Rice as the only players in the
- 18:13Speaker 1: Super Bowl era with twenty plus receptions, two hundred and
- 18:15Speaker 1: fifty yards and four reception touchdowns verse a single opponent
- 18:19Speaker 1: in a season. That just means two things. One, dudes
- 18:23Speaker 1: a og. He's a veteran now Tyler Locke is getting
- 18:25Speaker 1: up there. And two, he just knows how to play
- 18:28Speaker 1: against the Cardinals. There's something about the Cardinals. There have
- 18:30Speaker 1: been battles over the past few years between the Hawks
- 18:32Speaker 1: and the Cardinals, and one constant has been mister Tyler
- 18:36Speaker 1: Lockett Well and also too. Let's throw some love to
- 18:40Speaker 1: Seahawk legend Jerry Rice. I wanted to throw that out
- 18:43Speaker 1: there for people for two thousand and four. I saw
- 18:46Speaker 1: some highlights on twitter ys and I will throw it
- 18:48Speaker 1: back Thursday. Just throw that out there to another former
- 18:50Speaker 1: Seahawk great, Jerry Rice. Two receivers getting it done. That
- 18:55Speaker 1: just sounds hilarious. Seahawk legend, Jerry Rice, I feel you, baby.
- 18:58Speaker 1: That's old school Jerry. That's one rolls ballhead, and you
- 19:01Speaker 1: know I feel it all right. Carlos Dunlap. In the
- 19:04Speaker 1: rest of the D line Needson leve but Carlos Dunlap
- 19:07Speaker 1: four tackles, two sacks, two tackles, flaws, three quarterback hits.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Now the whole D line had three sacks, seven quarterback
- 19:13Speaker 1: hits and LJ forces safety and had a sack as well.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You are getting a return in your investment immediately. With
- 19:21Speaker 1: Carlos Dunlap. It looks like he's getting into better shape
- 19:24Speaker 1: and he's understanding the language on that they speak on
- 19:27Speaker 1: their defense. He's making plays and that number that he
- 19:31Speaker 1: wears a starter and grow on me too. Hey, if
- 19:33Speaker 1: I don't, I don't care what you do. If you've
- 19:35Speaker 1: been in the backfield making play sack for lost QB hits, No,
- 19:37Speaker 1: you love to see you mentioned return on investment. I
- 19:40Speaker 1: mean that's immediately a lot of times guys go to
- 19:42Speaker 1: a new team like, well, give him a second. He's
- 19:43Speaker 1: got to learn the scheme, he's got to learn the defense.
- 19:45Speaker 1: He's got to get used to guys. No, Carlos came
- 19:47Speaker 1: in there. He got a sacking media in that first game.
- 19:49Speaker 1: He's getting QB hit. So you love to see what
- 19:51Speaker 1: that's doing, and I think that's going to continue to
- 19:52Speaker 1: free other guys up. LJ. Collier love to see it.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He's another guy that's gone. People have been super hard on.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You're gonna be in the first round pick. He had
- 19:59Speaker 1: his probably the career game, best game of his career
- 20:01Speaker 1: last night. So I gotta love it from LJ and
- 20:04Speaker 1: the whole the whole defensive line. I mean, we've gotten
- 20:06Speaker 1: a ton of sacks last three weeks, so they're finally
- 20:09Speaker 1: they're starting to turn the tide and get to playing
- 20:11Speaker 1: that style of football that we're accustomed to seeing and
- 20:14Speaker 1: we hope to see moving forward. The rest of the
- 20:15Speaker 1: year now, just like y'all needed to get off at
- 20:18Speaker 1: kid Norn's back, get off of Trade Flowers back. Man,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I'm so proud of this dude. Man, Let's go. Tray
- 20:24Speaker 1: three tackle, three tackles. Was manned up with d Hop
- 20:28Speaker 1: the whole night. D Hop had five receptions for fifty
- 20:31Speaker 1: one yards, and late in the game, Trey Flowers was
- 20:34Speaker 1: on that hip that last drive to the Arizona Cardinals side.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I just focused on Tray. I'm like, let's go, what's
- 20:40Speaker 1: he gonna do. Is he gonna play off? He's he
- 20:42Speaker 1: gonna flip them hips and turn he goes. Nah, man,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm lined up, man up eyes on their hips. Best
- 20:47Speaker 1: receiver in the game. What you got? Great game for
- 20:50Speaker 1: Trey Flowers. Oh love it. Love the game from Tray Flowers.
- 20:53Speaker 1: First of all, in that situation he was he was
- 20:55Speaker 1: on an island by himself. There was no safety at
- 20:57Speaker 1: the top, there was none of that. It was one
- 20:59Speaker 1: on one game on the line. You need to come
- 21:01Speaker 1: up with a big play. And Trey, yes, he had
- 21:03Speaker 1: a miss tackle one point in the game. He gave
- 21:05Speaker 1: up a couple of little things here and there. But
- 21:07Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins is the best receiver in football, the only
- 21:10Speaker 1: a lout. Five receptions for fifty one yards is an
- 21:12Speaker 1: unbelievable job. And honestly, with how we played in the
- 21:16Speaker 1: secondary times, I think to help the defensive line, okay,
- 21:19Speaker 1: guys on guys and making Colin Murray come off his
- 21:21Speaker 1: first and second read and then you can get sacks offense.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So Trey Flowers, he's taking a ton of heat. Trey
- 21:26Speaker 1: Flowers is a good football player. He's earned everything he's
- 21:29Speaker 1: getting right now, and I love to see it because
- 21:32Speaker 1: his confidence is just getting better and better at the
- 21:34Speaker 1: right time. She kill Griffin's probably gonna come back. Other
- 21:36Speaker 1: guys are getting healthy, so things are gonna keep keep rolling,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and I'm keeping in that secondary. DJ reid second week
- 21:42Speaker 1: in roll, leading the team tackles eleven tackles, one tackle
- 21:44Speaker 1: for loss. Same thing with DJ Reid Man, I mean
- 21:47Speaker 1: you talk about a return on investment. We knew when
- 21:49Speaker 1: we picked him up, he was heard, he had the
- 21:50Speaker 1: torn pack, came back just in time to face his
- 21:53Speaker 1: old team, the nine Ers. Gets to pick right off
- 21:54Speaker 1: the bat. Now it is helping us in the return game.
- 21:56Speaker 1: He's showing some explosiveness. DJ reads another great pick up
- 22:00Speaker 1: and you love to see him doing things to help
- 22:03Speaker 1: this football team. When we get more healthy at cornerback,
- 22:05Speaker 1: you're just gonna show them were gonna have so much
- 22:06Speaker 1: depth and it's gonna be hard for guys to get
- 22:08Speaker 1: on the field. And he'd love to see that. It's
- 22:10Speaker 1: gonna be hard for guys to get on the field.
- 22:12Speaker 1: One Shock and Dunbar get healthy, DJ Reeve and Trey
- 22:15Speaker 1: will be two of the guys fighting for playing time.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But where DJ might have solidified himself as in the
- 22:20Speaker 1: return game and he has a football in his hands
- 22:23Speaker 1: on those kid returns, it looks like he's one block
- 22:25Speaker 1: away from breaking him. He already had a big return?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Was that against Buffalo? And he had that? Are the
- 22:29Speaker 1: Rams get that big return against Rams? Something he's showing
- 22:32Speaker 1: him he is adding value to this team. The last
- 22:35Speaker 1: guy we're gonna talk about, we got that big Ray
- 22:37Speaker 1: touched on. Damian Lewis started his first game at center.
- 22:41Speaker 1: First game ever, never snapped. I'm sure he's a center,
- 22:44Speaker 1: so he probably messed around snapping with his boys or whatnot,
- 22:47Speaker 1: But to do it for the first time in the
- 22:49Speaker 1: NFL is huge. Posting was banged up. Kyler Fuller got
- 22:53Speaker 1: banged up. They say, what are we gonna do? Dame
- 22:56Speaker 1: said immediately after the game, they went to him and
- 22:58Speaker 1: told him to start preparing him. Who play center? Center
- 23:01Speaker 1: is the quarterback on the offensive line. All centers should
- 23:04Speaker 1: just have that sea on their journey. Yes, their captains
- 23:07Speaker 1: out there, they should just have to see on their jersey.
- 23:09Speaker 1: They're responsible for a lot. The young men struggled early,
- 23:12Speaker 1: balanced back again adding value to this football team. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: you love it too, like he didn't get discouraged. Yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 1: that's tough. As Ray mentioned it. First play of the
- 23:19Speaker 1: game is a pass play, and of course the defensive
- 23:21Speaker 1: line knows you're a first time playing center. They know
- 23:24Speaker 1: you're not used to that, so they're gonna rush you
- 23:25Speaker 1: super hard. He gives up a sack, had a low snap,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but after that he just played. He just balled out, man.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And people underestimate how difficult it is to move positions
- 23:33Speaker 1: on the offensive line, different combo blocks calling step out.
- 23:36Speaker 1: So he loved to see the rookie step up because
- 23:38Speaker 1: he's been huge for the Seahawks. And another thing along
- 23:40Speaker 1: those same lines, I love the depth on this offensive
- 23:43Speaker 1: line because they're down Jordan Simmons, who's played for Mikey
- 23:45Speaker 1: Potty a lot this year. So Jamarco Jones stepped in
- 23:47Speaker 1: there with Damian Lewis moving over the center, and we
- 23:50Speaker 1: didn't skip a beat. So big ups the entire offensive line,
- 23:53Speaker 1: old line, getner done. All right, let's move along. We
- 23:56Speaker 1: are going to the coach's corner. We're gonna break down
- 23:59Speaker 1: the touch down passed between Russell Wilson and mister Dk Metcalf.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Play fake. Russ is gonna roll to the right side, stops, look,
- 24:08Speaker 1: steps up in the pocket. Now he's gonna scramble. Now
- 24:10Speaker 1: he's gonna throw to the end zone. He's got a
- 24:11Speaker 1: man touchdown, Sayhawks, Dk Metcalf playmate by Russell Wilson scrambling
- 24:19Speaker 1: out of the pocket to his right side, and Metcalf
- 24:22Speaker 1: comes all the way across the back of the end zone,
- 24:24Speaker 1: out running Patrick Peterson and the blow was absolutely perfect.
- 24:29Speaker 1: The Seahawks on their opening drive go up six nil.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Now this is what happened here, Nasa Shoby. Okay, okay,
- 24:37Speaker 1: little rollout, little rollout. DK starts on the left side
- 24:40Speaker 1: of the field. It looks like he's doing that deep
- 24:42Speaker 1: cross back to the corner that they love to do.
- 24:45Speaker 1: A little double move. When it comes to the rollout,
- 24:47Speaker 1: what happens is Russell Wilson feels pressure. He steps up
- 24:51Speaker 1: inside the pocket. As soon as Russell Wilson stats up,
- 24:54Speaker 1: he's not in the pockets outside the pocket, but he
- 24:56Speaker 1: steps up to avoid his sack. As soon as he
- 24:58Speaker 1: steps up, he starts to roll out to right. DK
- 25:01Speaker 1: immediately snaps back to a crossing pattern and russ As
- 25:05Speaker 1: fires a football in a place where only DK can
- 25:08Speaker 1: get it. You cannot guard DK from five seconds, six seconds,
- 25:11Speaker 1: It's just almost impossible. If Russell has time and they're
- 25:14Speaker 1: able to do all this creative backyard football stuff, plays
- 25:18Speaker 1: like this is going to happen. This is a signature
- 25:20Speaker 1: Russell Wilson. Play right here, no question. This is what
- 25:22Speaker 1: Russell Wilson does. He makes something happen, gets to a
- 25:25Speaker 1: second read, and then just improvises. But from the defensive
- 25:28Speaker 1: backs side of things, brudda Baker, He's watched film. He
- 25:31Speaker 1: recognizes that crosser. He's like, okay, I've seen this before.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I'm super aggressive him a fly down, him flies downhill.
- 25:38Speaker 1: But as soon as Russell Wilson steps up, as he mentioned,
- 25:41Speaker 1: outside the pocket, DK puts his foot in the ground,
- 25:43Speaker 1: snaps his head around and then kind of just buckles
- 25:45Speaker 1: Brude Baker. At that point, he's just in trail mode,
- 25:47Speaker 1: and that's a place you never want to be as
- 25:49Speaker 1: a defensive back because you're wobbly, you're just trying to
- 25:51Speaker 1: react in DK metcalf is too big and too fast.
- 25:54Speaker 1: He looks back at the quarterback and just to see
- 25:57Speaker 1: his fate as a DK catches it in the corner
- 25:59Speaker 1: of the end zone. So you just love to see it.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And Buddha Baker is a good player. But you're not
- 26:03Speaker 1: gonna cover DK back out for six seconds, especially after
- 26:05Speaker 1: you jump his initial move. No, not gonna be able
- 26:08Speaker 1: to do it now. But this was This is the
- 26:10Speaker 1: play where highlighting for coaches corner, but also want to
- 26:12Speaker 1: point album DK was in his bag. I saw two
- 26:15Speaker 1: different releases, creativity and his routes. Man he's grinding during offseason.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Whoever he's working with, Man, they must be really getting
- 26:23Speaker 1: it done. I love seeing DK evolved as a route runner,
- 26:28Speaker 1: and this is a great example of this. The chemistry
- 26:30Speaker 1: that him and this guy Russell Wilson had. Now's a
- 26:34Speaker 1: choby greatest formation in football. Let's get it. Here comes
- 26:40Speaker 1: the Seahawk offense onto the field and the Vikings defense
- 26:43Speaker 1: trudging out there knowing that one kneel down and the
- 26:48Speaker 1: Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and win this one.
- 26:51Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk talk. Been too long
- 26:56Speaker 1: since we've seen the greatest formation in football. Love to
- 26:58Speaker 1: see Russell Wilson getting that victory formation. Man. The Seahawks
- 27:03Speaker 1: showed some tremendous balance balance on offense. Man. They're able
- 27:05Speaker 1: to run the ball, throw the ball effectively. They took
- 27:08Speaker 1: everything the defense was giving them and always gotten the
- 27:11Speaker 1: right play. I love to see them make changes because
- 27:14Speaker 1: everyone said, hey, did we can find the blueprint? All
- 27:17Speaker 1: the talking heads, everyone's talking, did we find the blueprint?
- 27:19Speaker 1: I'm beating the Seattle team. We got to do pressure.
- 27:21Speaker 1: If we can show them this look and do this,
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's gonna get fuse dressed. Wilson, he's gonna throw a turnover.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. They came back out there, they went
- 27:28Speaker 1: to work, They got in the film room, they did
- 27:30Speaker 1: everything they needed to do. Were incredibly prepared. Came with
- 27:33Speaker 1: some sauce for Arizona with all the different plays, all
- 27:36Speaker 1: the different formations and things that they did, so I
- 27:37Speaker 1: love to see them and jest and show that they
- 27:40Speaker 1: can react. They get coached to. We have a hard
- 27:42Speaker 1: work and coaching stap busting. You know, they're bump every day.
- 27:44Speaker 1: So it's great to see that in the offense's ball out.
- 27:47Speaker 1: And it was great to see the Carlos's do the thing.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Carlos hide on offense, Carlos done lapbone, defense, return investments.
- 27:55Speaker 1: These are new guys to this organization. Always nice to
- 27:59Speaker 1: get them done. And the Seahawks didn't lose the turnover battle.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Now they didn't cause any turnovers, but they didn't lose
- 28:07Speaker 1: the turnover battle. That's what it's all about. If you
- 28:10Speaker 1: win the turnover a battle with this team, you typically
- 28:12Speaker 1: win the ball game. That's exactly what they did. They
- 28:15Speaker 1: played against the number one offense in the league. As
- 28:17Speaker 1: far as yardage, Ye held them to twenty one points.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That's the season low. Held Cola Murray to under what
- 28:22Speaker 1: fifteen yards rushing, which is amazing to me because he
- 28:25Speaker 1: can get fifteen yards rushing yards rushing on a single
- 28:28Speaker 1: play at any moment he can he can bust out
- 28:30Speaker 1: a fifteen yard ram. I love where this defense is
- 28:33Speaker 1: headed and they're getting healthy during a stretch, or they
- 28:37Speaker 1: got a chance to put some wins together. Man, Oh,
- 28:39Speaker 1: no question about it. This is this couldn't be a
- 28:41Speaker 1: better time. Coach Pete Carroll mentioned in his post kame
- 28:43Speaker 1: press conference that we're gonna see kill Griffin again, We're
- 28:45Speaker 1: gonna see Chris Carson again, and slowly but surely, these
- 28:49Speaker 1: guys are getting healthy at the right time. It's kind
- 28:51Speaker 1: of the opposite last season. So we can get everyone back,
- 28:53Speaker 1: we can really string together some wins. And that's the thing, man,
- 28:56Speaker 1: They married all three phases of the game without questioning
- 28:59Speaker 1: the complete game and season. Offense is playing well, defense
- 29:02Speaker 1: is playing well. Special teams was playing well. So you
- 29:05Speaker 1: love to see that because it's the first time we've
- 29:06Speaker 1: seen that all year. And the Quickerminder Kira Radio is
- 29:09Speaker 1: your home for the Seahawks, your source of local news.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Listen to every Seahawks game live on the ninety seven
- 29:14Speaker 1: three FM and ketchup on the news every weekday with
- 29:17Speaker 1: the Cairo Radio at bump. We are seven to three
- 29:20Speaker 1: and most importantly, back in first place. Back in first place.
- 29:26Speaker 1: We own the West. You heard it, We own the West.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Now we go to Philly Monday Night football and take
- 29:33Speaker 1: on the Eagles. But let's enjoy this for a while.
- 29:36Speaker 1: We got some time watch some other teams play this weekend.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But it's been real. The Seahawks beat the Cardinals twenty
- 29:42Speaker 1: eight twenty one. They get their revenge. Nice to see,
- 29:46Speaker 1: it's been real. I'm Michael bump Is along with Nasa Choby.
- 29:49Speaker 1: This is hag Talk Recap. I'll let y'all soon
