- 0:04Speaker 1: One thing I noticed over the Christmas period was everyone's
- 0:07Speaker 1: talking about the best Christmas movies. Yes, and I wanted
- 0:10Speaker 1: to get your top three car movies.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Okay, so undoubtedly my number one is Back to.
- 0:16Speaker 1: The Future and a car movie, because I was thinking
- 0:19Speaker 1: that too. But yeah, I guess it is.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I'm going to class it as a car movie because
- 0:22Speaker 2: that basically spawned my passion for the dolore and I'm
- 0:26Speaker 2: desperately seeking one somewhere. So that's that's very much one
- 0:30Speaker 2: of one of my favorites.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I have a mate of mine who actually owns a
- 0:33Speaker 1: Dolaurian in Geelong. Ah, that's cool. If you see one
- 0:37Speaker 1: driving around. Yeah, nice shout out to Matt Wilkinson.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Oh, I'm jealous. That's that's cool. I still love those things.
- 0:43Speaker 2: They're notoriously unreliable. There's there's a couple of really great
- 0:45Speaker 2: documentaries on I think Netflix about Delarey and The Car
- 0:49Speaker 2: Company and The Man, and you've got to watch those
- 0:51Speaker 2: if you haven't seen that before.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So that's number one. Yeah, that's number one.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Look, I think Ronan, I think that the car I've.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Seen is that that d Niro film.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to watch The Car chase scene like
- 1:05Speaker 2: it is, it is spectacular and look, I think I'm
- 1:09Speaker 2: probably going to offend a lot of people here, but
- 1:11Speaker 2: I cannot stand faster than the Furious at all.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I think it's just the biggest load of bullshit ever.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And I know that some people froth over it, but
- 1:18Speaker 2: I just it does nothing for me, and I think
- 1:20Speaker 2: it's so stupid, and that's why I like realistic films.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So Mad Max mad Max were part filmed in Geelong,
- 1:29Speaker 1: so that's probably why I don't like it too much.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It was in like Lara, they've got some of the
- 1:33Speaker 2: original Mad Max was sort of film there. The third
- 1:37Speaker 2: one is is actually something interesting. So the third one,
- 1:40Speaker 2: when I was a teenager, I think it was BMW
- 1:43Speaker 2: that released these. But who's Madonna's husband and Guy Richie?
- 1:47Speaker 1: They've got oh yeah, Guy Ritchie and Sean Penn. She
- 1:49Speaker 1: she went out with.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Guy Richie is the familiar one, but he basically directed
- 1:54Speaker 2: these films for BMW. They were short movies. They were
- 1:57Speaker 2: like four or five minutes long each and they all
- 2:00Speaker 2: featured a different BMW vehicle and they all had these
- 2:02Speaker 2: expensive car chase scenes and that was just so cool,
- 2:06Speaker 2: absolutely awesome, and I still got the DVD somewhere at home,
- 2:09Speaker 2: so I think it was called The Chase or something
- 2:11Speaker 2: like that, but that was paid for by BMW, and
- 2:13Speaker 2: I think it was just fantastic, absolutely fantastic.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So theyre are my three. Now, surprise, Thelma and Luiz
- 2:18Speaker 1: didn't make your top threat. Remember when remember when John
- 2:22Speaker 1: Claude van Dam did the splits between those two giant trucks. Yes, yes,
- 2:26Speaker 1: oh my god, that could have been. That should have
- 2:29Speaker 1: been a movie. That should have been the way he
- 2:31Speaker 1: started and ended. You're gonna hate my top three. I'm
- 2:34Speaker 1: gonna say number three, Fast and Furious one only because
- 2:38Speaker 1: I know, because disappointed. I just think when you're a
- 2:42Speaker 1: little kid and you're going into the cinema. When I
- 2:45Speaker 1: wasn't a little kid, I just got my license and
- 2:47Speaker 1: that that had come out, and I just thought, fifty
- 2:50Speaker 1: huh your license at fifty? All right? Blood, you know
- 2:55Speaker 1: the red crack in the old jokes. I think you're actually,
- 3:00Speaker 1: to be honest, probably probably, I don't look at that.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh well, all right, John English, come down. That is
- 3:05Speaker 1: a very old reference.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Anyway, So Fast in the theory is one. What do
- 3:09Speaker 2: you like about that?
- 3:10Speaker 1: I think it's vin Diesel's commitment to family.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Good of the memes, I'll give that to you because
- 3:18Speaker 2: that was the only one I enjoyed. From there, they
- 3:21Speaker 2: just got progressively shitter.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But you got to know too that that was that
- 3:25Speaker 1: was such a brilliant era in cars because there was
- 3:28Speaker 1: the rise of the WRX, Yes there was. The street
- 3:33Speaker 1: scene was huge with Japanese cars drifting. Yeah, and also
- 3:37Speaker 1: nice little appreciation for the classics. Yes, it was Suki's
- 3:41Speaker 1: Honda AS two thousand in that Oh the pink one
- 3:45Speaker 1: she bought that, didn't she?
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because it was that. I remember seeing it at
- 3:48Speaker 2: the Peterson Museum.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Did you notice how much of a ship box that
- 3:52Speaker 1: car was?
- 3:52Speaker 2: It was really bad, really poorly done it. Yeah, magic
- 3:56Speaker 2: you look.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you look inside it and it was just, oh,
- 3:58Speaker 1: you felt like you were catching the bloody std just
- 4:01Speaker 1: sitting in the thing, which I did all right, fast
- 4:05Speaker 1: and furious. Is number three. You're gonna hate it, But
- 4:08Speaker 1: for some reason mad Max kept coming back. And I
- 4:10Speaker 1: was gonna say number two. But also was the new
- 4:14Speaker 1: one the Fury Road or something? I quite like that one. Okay,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mean here's the thing. Can you count Batman and
- 4:22Speaker 1: all those sort of films as car movies. I guess
- 4:25Speaker 1: I shouldn't have said back to the Future. I don't know.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I just think when I think car movie, I think
- 4:30Speaker 2: movies with.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Cars in more car check cool car scenes.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah, just cool car things, you know what I mean.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's Lose Brothers. Okay. Number one, this is controversial, the
- 4:41Speaker 1: Furious number fifteen again Vin Diesel's commitment to Fanboy. Number
- 4:49Speaker 1: one is Rush. Oh yeah, with Chris Hemsworth. It was
- 4:53Speaker 1: the Nikki Lordo. Yes, his name James Hunt. James Hunt. Yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 1: that's your biopic. Yeah, that was actually pretty good. Otherwise
- 5:05Speaker 1: I was going to say somewhere in the top ten
- 5:07Speaker 1: would have to be what is it Ford Versus Ferrari? Oh? Yeah, okay, cool?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Look, I thought Rush was actually pretty good. That
- 5:15Speaker 2: wasn't too bad. The Ford Versus Ferrari film was pretty
- 5:17Speaker 2: good as well.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Look, I'd be interested in hearing from you. If you're
- 5:21Speaker 2: listening to this contact at the drive show dot com
- 5:24Speaker 2: today you let us know what your top three car
- 5:26Speaker 2: movies are and whether they actually have to have like
- 5:29Speaker 2: actual car things in them, or whether they could be.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Backs of the future. Guarantee someone's going to write in
- 5:34Speaker 1: I thought the Best of Bathurst on my DVD was
- 5:37Speaker 1: the best car movie of all times. All right, what
- 5:40Speaker 1: are we going to talk about today? We're going to
- 5:41Speaker 1: talk news. We're going to talk stuff about Lotus in
- 5:44Speaker 1: a second, some sad news. I think about Lotus, but
- 5:46Speaker 1: I guess that's the world. We are some stuff about
- 5:50Speaker 1: the Ford, Mustang land Cruiser, land Cruiser, Yes, problems with
- 5:53Speaker 1: the land Cruiser. We're going to review the Porsche te
- 5:56Speaker 1: Can Turbo. I nearly called it the GTS. But yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: let's talk Where do we go? First? Lotus? Lotus.
- 6:02Speaker 2: So the Elise, the ex Siege and the Avora have
- 6:06Speaker 2: been taken out the back and shot and killed.
- 6:08Speaker 1: They are dead. They are gone making way for is
- 6:12Speaker 1: it the Emira? Yep so production has ended. Yeah, so
- 6:16Speaker 1: this is an interesting one because they also came out
- 6:18Speaker 1: with this mad ass electric looking car which I can't pronounce, Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Avega Avia whatever it's called the e Vagina, And
- 6:30Speaker 1: I mean it's the priceest supercar you've ever seen. It's incredible.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But I love that they've taken parts of that and
- 6:36Speaker 1: they've put it in this mirror. July twenty twenty two.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm not quite sure if I'm right here, but I'm
- 6:41Speaker 1: going to say mid engine it was a Toyota three
- 6:46Speaker 1: point five, yes, or the engine out of the eight
- 6:50Speaker 1: forty five AMG.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the small one, the two leader, Yeah, the hand grenade.
- 6:56Speaker 2: At any point it could blow up because it's got
- 6:58Speaker 2: so much boost. I've got a bit of trivia here
- 7:00Speaker 2: for you. So basically, those three cars that I mentioned
- 7:04Speaker 2: earlier that they've now killed, they were in production at
- 7:07Speaker 2: the company's plant over the period of twenty six years.
- 7:11Speaker 1: How many do you reckon they built? I don't think many.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So over twenty six years, how many do you reckon?
- 7:18Speaker 2: They sort of rolled out? Twenty six years is a
- 7:21Speaker 2: long time, almost.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Thirty years downwards of hang on, we're talking twenty years.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So I would take whatever you think they produced per year,
- 7:30Speaker 2: multiply it by thirty.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, Jesus kind of just say, look, I
- 7:35Speaker 1: just reckoned all up under fifty thousand.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Oh that was close, Okay, So fifty one thousand, seven
- 7:44Speaker 2: hundred and thirty eight, I reckon, that's a lot. Really, Actually,
- 7:48Speaker 2: maybe it's not over thirty years. Let me just do
- 7:50Speaker 2: the sums there. Fifty one massage now divided by twenty
- 7:54Speaker 2: six you've got a calculated there two thousand a year,
- 7:58Speaker 2: which is a fair bit.
- 7:58Speaker 1: That's what that's worldwide. Yeah, I don't know.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I was expecting it to be far less than that. So,
- 8:04Speaker 2: you know, that's interesting.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And all in between as well.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Lotus was bought by a Chinese manufacturer, so they're currently
- 8:11Speaker 2: you know, the under the sort of guys of Chinese
- 8:16Speaker 2: production and they're going to be they reckon. They have
- 8:19Speaker 2: a production capacity of one hundred and fifty thousand vehicles
- 8:22Speaker 2: at the new Chinese plant, which covers an area of
- 8:25Speaker 2: over one million meters squared, which is a lot. So
- 8:29Speaker 2: they've invested one point seven billion dollars into the plant,
- 8:32Speaker 2: which is.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Where is that situated, by the way, is that in China?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well it's a Chinese production plant.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Well you'd be surprised they could find an even cheaper
- 8:40Speaker 1: place than China.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'll be interested to see, you know, how it goes
- 8:44Speaker 2: with this new car. I find it interesting that they're
- 8:46Speaker 2: going down the path of taking a Mercedes Ben's engine
- 8:48Speaker 2: and a Toyota engine, and.
- 8:50Speaker 1: They've rund the Toyota engine for a while.
- 8:51Speaker 2: That right, Yeah, but you look at it, it's like the
- 8:53Speaker 2: toyte engine you would think is very reliable, and then
- 8:56Speaker 2: they just go and get a Mercedes engine.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's like, okay, it's an interesting with the loadus, isn't
- 9:00Speaker 1: it had a very up and down history. I love them,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I just I think they're great. I know they've they've
- 9:07Speaker 1: got their problems and issues here and there, and you know,
- 9:11Speaker 1: there's certain models where I think the key would be
- 9:13Speaker 1: to join some sort of forum to find out know
- 9:16Speaker 1: what you're buying. But I think they look cool. I
- 9:20Speaker 1: think the newer Mirror I get why they've kind of
- 9:22Speaker 1: stopped these as sad as it is, I get why
- 9:25Speaker 1: they've stopped them and just moved it and concentrated to
- 9:28Speaker 1: the Mirror. Yeah.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Look, I'm excited to see how it goes because you know,
- 9:32Speaker 2: as much as they have a check at history in
- 9:34Speaker 2: terms of reliability that there've always been fun cast to drive. There,
- 9:38Speaker 2: immensely capable, and I think that the Mirror is paving
- 9:41Speaker 2: the path to a more sort of streamlined sports car
- 9:44Speaker 2: that isn't just a hardcore track car. So yeah, it'll
- 9:48Speaker 2: be interesting to see how it goes. And I think
- 9:50Speaker 2: the ev future is interesting as well, because everyone's moving,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you know, to that space and it's going to mean
- 9:57Speaker 2: big things for Lotus, and it means that you can
- 9:59Speaker 2: have a fast accelerating car fairly easily because you're just
- 10:02Speaker 2: strapping motors to batteries and they have the nouse to
- 10:06Speaker 2: make a handling car, so they could actually be a
- 10:09Speaker 2: force to be reckoned with once it all sort of
- 10:10Speaker 2: rolls around.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And I think this a mirror is probably going to
- 10:12Speaker 1: be their last petrol car.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Well yeah, I mean it's it seems to be heading
- 10:17Speaker 2: that way. So you can see why they've gone and
- 10:19Speaker 2: just taken the engines from established brands. You just get
- 10:23Speaker 2: that out of the way and then away you go.
- 10:25Speaker 2: They've got a platform that is going to be dedicated
- 10:28Speaker 2: to the electric components as well. So yeah, it is
- 10:32Speaker 2: exciting stuff and I'll be ken to see how it
- 10:34Speaker 2: sort of pans out for them.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The almighty Toyota Land Cruise of three hundred, which we
- 10:40Speaker 1: reviewed in a previous app Ye, basically, if you want
- 10:43Speaker 1: to grab onto the steering wheel of the new Land
- 10:46Speaker 1: Cruise of three hundred that you paid one hundred and
- 10:48Speaker 1: seventy five thousand dollars, well, here's a bit of an
- 10:50Speaker 1: impression that's actually just me knocking on Paul's head.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 2: So, look, we've exclusively reveal that Toyota is currently investigating
- 11:02Speaker 2: a knocking issue in the new three hundred series. And
- 11:06Speaker 2: look what happened initially was when we drove our first car,
- 11:09Speaker 2: which was a VX. We had to borrow it from
- 11:11Speaker 2: a dealer because Toyta couldn't get us a car to test,
- 11:13Speaker 2: and the car had five kilometers on the clock. And
- 11:16Speaker 2: I first observed the knocking sound when we were doing
- 11:18Speaker 2: some off roading and assumed it was an issue with
- 11:21Speaker 2: the car's pre delivery. And I thought, look, I'm not
- 11:23Speaker 2: going to mention anything. It's a brand new car. It
- 11:26Speaker 2: hasn't been pre delivered correctly. They'll sort that out at
- 11:28Speaker 2: some point. We then drove a subsequent three cars after that,
- 11:32Speaker 2: so we had a Jar Sport, a Sahara ZX.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And they that's pretty much the top of the range
- 11:39Speaker 1: ones too.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, plus another and they have all had the exact
- 11:42Speaker 2: same knocking sound and it happens at low speed on corrugations.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Toyota claims that it has something to do with the
- 11:48Speaker 2: steering system and that they're currently investigating the reason I'm
- 11:52Speaker 2: concerned about this is it wasn't isolated just to the
- 11:55Speaker 2: media vehicles which were all used for the media launch
- 11:58Speaker 2: and then given out to media after that for some
- 12:01Speaker 2: sort of fairly hard driving. If it was the case,
- 12:03Speaker 2: i'd think, well, they're probably the first cars in the country.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Maybe there was something wrong with them. But the fact
- 12:07Speaker 2: that this has now been observed on a customer's car,
- 12:10Speaker 2: which a dealer demo which will eventually become a customer's car,
- 12:14Speaker 2: plus these three media vehicles, leads me to believe that
- 12:16Speaker 2: it is an issue with the vehicle in general, and
- 12:20Speaker 2: if it is, it sounds because it is hardware.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Related, that it could mean to recall at some point
- 12:25Speaker 1: down the track. If it is found to be a problem.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You can't even call that a shipping issue really if.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It's happening on all three Yeah, exactly. So, Yeah, it
- 12:34Speaker 2: is disappointing because they spent a lot of time engineering
- 12:37Speaker 2: this car. The driving that we were doing was very basic,
- 12:39Speaker 2: and it would stun me if they didn't observe this
- 12:43Speaker 2: during the engineering process. So I am surprised that it
- 12:45Speaker 2: hasn't been picked up and the cars are now getting
- 12:49Speaker 2: delivered with these issues.
- 12:51Speaker 1: So there was something going down with the Ford Mustang
- 12:53Speaker 1: Mark one where You're basically promised all this stuff and
- 12:58Speaker 1: it didn't come with said stuff. So then Ford came
- 13:02Speaker 1: out and said, well you can have you know, here's
- 13:05Speaker 1: a showbag of goodies. Shut your mouth if you know
- 13:09Speaker 1: what's good for your tuts, slaps them on the cheek.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So that's just what I did. Paul sometimes tell no one, yes,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you hear me, and he zips his pants up and
- 13:22Speaker 1: leaves the room with a very sad face.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Well, let me explain what was going on for those
- 13:28Speaker 2: of you that are still listening.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Basically, Ford, when they offered the.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Mark one for sale here, there was a long waiting
- 13:36Speaker 2: list and customers were basically waiting around to get their cars,
- 13:40Speaker 2: and they were given brochures when they first ordered their
- 13:43Speaker 2: cars indicating what you would get with them.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Now, these cars, for those that.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Don't know, a special edition sort of track oriented cars
- 13:50Speaker 2: that use some of the elements from the GT three
- 13:53Speaker 2: point fifty Shelby vehicle. In the States, they cost over
- 13:56Speaker 2: eighty thousand dollars before on road cost, which is twenty
- 13:59Speaker 2: grand more than a GT manual. And Ford basically put
- 14:02Speaker 2: together a brochure that said it had all of these
- 14:04Speaker 2: features right, and someone at Forward whether it's just a
- 14:08Speaker 2: marketing internal someone has made the mistake here by mentioning
- 14:12Speaker 2: things that it would have that didn't have. And these
- 14:14Speaker 2: are things that are available on the US vehicle but
- 14:16Speaker 2: not available for some reason on the right hand drive
- 14:18Speaker 2: Australian one. And these included things like a torson limited
- 14:22Speaker 2: slip differential, rear parking sensors, led fog lamps, Mustang mark
- 14:26Speaker 2: one floor mats, and ambient lighting in the door pockets.
- 14:30Speaker 2: So those things weren't included, so Forward identified the issue.
- 14:33Speaker 2: After some customers complained, they offered them either a full
- 14:36Speaker 2: refund so that's your deposit.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Everything, which is fair enough. That's nice. Yep, you can walk.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Away if you don't want the car, or a cash
- 14:43Speaker 2: payment of five four hundred dollars plus and the addition
- 14:48Speaker 2: of some free services and a track day as well.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So that's good. That's a good compensation, like six.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Or seven grand worth of stuff there for your enduring
- 14:58Speaker 2: what you enjoyed.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I'd love to guy, I'd like I just love to
- 15:01Speaker 1: hear one of the people just going, I don't care
- 15:04Speaker 1: what you're giving me. I paid for mood lighting. I
- 15:08Speaker 1: want my mood lighting and just throws five thousand dollars
- 15:11Speaker 1: cash on their face.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You thought that'd be the end of it, right, and
- 15:14Speaker 2: Ford would just in front to be happy. The A
- 15:17Speaker 2: Triple See then investigated because someone must have complained to
- 15:20Speaker 2: them all or they would have seen what was going on.
- 15:22Speaker 2: And the A Triple See came out and said, okay,
- 15:24Speaker 2: well we've had enough of this Ford, we're going to
- 15:27Speaker 2: find you. And they find them fifty two thousand dollars.
- 15:33Speaker 2: It's like fifty two thousand dollars you guys, actually serious?
- 15:37Speaker 1: Fifty two grand? Yeah, oh oh, seems a little steep,
- 15:41Speaker 1: but see that and then just throws it at their feet. No,
- 15:45Speaker 1: you pick it up. It's a slap on the wrist
- 15:49Speaker 1: anyone would take. You know what it is.
- 15:50Speaker 2: And that's a thing. Okay, fair enough, you know Ford
- 15:53Speaker 2: did the wrong thing. But they went above and beyond
- 15:55Speaker 2: here and if you were going to find them, find
- 15:57Speaker 2: them properly.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It's a weird statement to kind of make you know
- 15:59Speaker 1: what I mean, It's like a it's what does that
- 16:01Speaker 1: show the industry exactly?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Well, this is my concern, right that we every week
- 16:07Speaker 2: we get emails from people talking about their cars and
- 16:10Speaker 2: all these issues they're having in manufacturers that refuse to
- 16:13Speaker 2: fix them properly. Let's maybe crack down on these people
- 16:16Speaker 2: and get involved in chasing car companies that don't give
- 16:20Speaker 2: people their consumer rights as opposed to just these random
- 16:24Speaker 2: things they're doing at the moment.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So, yeah, very strange to me, Posha taken. Shall we
- 16:28Speaker 1: talk about this, Yeah, let's do it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: The twenty twenty two Porsche tay Can bold unapologetic, seriously quick.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Prices start from one hundred and fifty three thousand, six
- 16:38Speaker 3: hundred dollars for the entry level all the way to
- 16:40Speaker 3: three hundred and forty eight hundred dollars for the tops
- 16:43Speaker 3: Big tay Can Turbo is.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Tay Can take the pusha too Can. Yeah, it's a
- 16:50Speaker 1: burning it's an exotic bird. Tell us how you would
- 16:52Speaker 1: pronounce it? And Porsche as well?
- 16:54Speaker 2: Is it Porchet, Porsche, Porsche Porch?
- 16:58Speaker 1: When I bought it, Porsche was telling you specifically by
- 17:01Speaker 1: the dealer, Yes, you had to call it Poorscha.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Poorsche, Okay, and Tykahn, how do you pronounce that's a
- 17:07Speaker 2: contact at the drive show dot com.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Do you tell us how we pronounce these things? Something
- 17:11Speaker 1: with an Australian accents? Fine? Maybe the Menaro, so you
- 17:15Speaker 1: can get to the taie cam. Would you could I
- 17:17Speaker 1: just quickly share a Menaro story? Oh please? Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I used to do these radio segments on this car
- 17:24Speaker 2: stuff and.
- 17:25Speaker 1: With the old Persion station. I remember listening to your program.
- 17:29Speaker 1: It was the worst show on radio. It's borderline finch if.
- 17:34Speaker 2: One time I had to talk on a camera station
- 17:38Speaker 2: about speed cameras. It wasn't that Chorea highlight on the
- 17:41Speaker 2: Manaro Highway And I read it as Menaro because that's
- 17:45Speaker 2: exactly how it's spelled, exactly, And I called it Menaro
- 17:48Speaker 2: like seven times. And after I hang up the phone,
- 17:52Speaker 2: I don't listen to the station. After that, they had
- 17:54Speaker 2: all these people call up saying, who is that guy?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Because he can't pronounce the name of the road properly.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I'm like, well, you can't pronounce the name of the
- 18:02Speaker 2: car properly.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So let's so it's pronounced Miniro, Miniro, yeah, nero. And
- 18:07Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, that's not how it spelled. So in
- 18:10Speaker 1: these parts we call it Miniro. Is this bloody university
- 18:15Speaker 1: trendy renaming our Yeah. As someone who's worked in tiny
- 18:20Speaker 1: towns in radio, I can tell you now if you
- 18:23Speaker 1: mispronounce a suburb on the radio. They will, Oh my god,
- 18:28Speaker 1: they will know. They will let you know about it.
- 18:31Speaker 1: You're ready these names where you're just like, what is this? Oh, listen,
- 18:35Speaker 1: there's been a roadblockage and Kicker can around. Make sure
- 18:40Speaker 1: you turn left to tear a bag apart as a
- 18:43Speaker 1: deed tour anyway, taycan taken taken. So this is the
- 18:47Speaker 1: second one I've driven now. The first one was a
- 18:48Speaker 1: cross trismo.
- 18:49Speaker 2: This one that we just checked out out the front
- 18:51Speaker 2: here is a just the standard Taykwan in turbo trim,
- 18:56Speaker 2: and I guess if you're if you're unable to picture
- 19:00Speaker 2: of this in your head. It basically shares a platform
- 19:02Speaker 2: with Panamira, so it looks very similar to a Panamera
- 19:05Speaker 2: in that sense of the body shape.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And it's priced between I'm.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Going to get this right, a kN and a Panamera
- 19:12Speaker 2: in terms of pricing, is my understanding. So it kind
- 19:15Speaker 2: of slots in between those two in terms of how
- 19:17Speaker 2: much it costs.
- 19:18Speaker 1: It's starting at around two sixty eight. Well, it depends
- 19:20Speaker 1: which one you go for. So the Tykon for s,
- 19:22Speaker 1: which was the entry level. Then they're now going down
- 19:25Speaker 1: the path of offering real will drive and so on
- 19:27Speaker 1: and so forth. But the Taykon for S started.
- 19:29Speaker 2: From one hundred and ninety one thousand dollars, so that
- 19:32Speaker 2: was when they first launched here in Australia.
- 19:34Speaker 1: The Turbo then.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Put that up to two hundred and sixty nine thousand dollars,
- 19:38Speaker 2: so it's climbed episode slightly since then. And there is
- 19:40Speaker 2: a Turbo S which sits above that at three hundred
- 19:43Speaker 2: and thirty nine thousand, and that's.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The top speck, isn't it. Yes, And so the GTS
- 19:47Speaker 1: is kind of that sort of sweet spot, right.
- 19:49Speaker 2: The GTS will sit between the four S and the turbos,
- 19:52Speaker 2: so there's a little bit of breathing room there.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Now when it comes to charging these bad boys up.
- 19:57Speaker 2: It has the ability to charge with at eight hundred volts.
- 20:00Speaker 2: You can do three phase charging up to twenty two kilowats,
- 20:03Speaker 2: which is pretty insane for just a standard road cart.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Before I came to see you today, I was charging
- 20:08Speaker 2: at a fast charger at a peak of two hundred
- 20:11Speaker 2: and fifty six kilowatts or something like that.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So that's we're on the borderline of sounding interesting and informative,
- 20:18Speaker 1: So which I don't do talk to me like I'm
- 20:20Speaker 1: five years old. For two seconds.
- 20:22Speaker 2: So between ten percent and eighty percent, it took twenty minutes, okay,
- 20:25Speaker 2: and that adds around three hundred kilometers of range. Right,
- 20:28Speaker 2: It's it's very fast in terms of how it charges,
- 20:30Speaker 2: and it has all the infrastructure on board to allow
- 20:33Speaker 2: it to do that. So, and then in terms of performance,
- 20:36Speaker 2: it will do zero to one hundred in entry level
- 20:39Speaker 2: forest trim at four seconds, and as you move your
- 20:42Speaker 2: way up it tops out at two point eight seconds
- 20:44Speaker 2: in the turbost.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Keep in mind, though your particular line I think is
- 20:48Speaker 1: around about three point one yep.
- 20:50Speaker 2: But keep in mind with Porsche, the numbers they quote
- 20:53Speaker 2: are always just not right. You always get much better
- 20:56Speaker 2: than that. So the standard turbo will probably do a
- 21:00Speaker 2: two point nine, and then the turbo s will probably
- 21:02Speaker 2: do about two point three or two point two, which.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Is just megafast. That's madness. It is just crazy. If
- 21:10Speaker 1: you look at a Tesla models right, and you've got
- 21:15Speaker 1: the Porsche take ant turbo. The Tesla's notoriously great at
- 21:19Speaker 1: driving in a straight line. This seems like that too,
- 21:22Speaker 1: But what do you think handles corners better? Okay?
- 21:24Speaker 2: So This is a heavy vehicle. So when I say heavy,
- 21:28Speaker 2: I mean over two tons, and it's.
- 21:31Speaker 1: More than like I say, a Ford F one fifty.
- 21:34Speaker 1: That's a big car.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Well on fifty is aluminium, so it is fairly light.
- 21:38Speaker 2: But this is heavier than a Ranger for example. So
- 21:40Speaker 2: the tykwon Turbo twenty three hundred kilos. So it is
- 21:43Speaker 2: a whopper of a thing, and that's because you have
- 21:45Speaker 2: a huge battery pack beneath the skin. But being a Porsche,
- 21:48Speaker 2: it handles incredibly and it uses a forty eight vault
- 21:52Speaker 2: electronic stabilizer at the front of the rear, so when
- 21:54Speaker 2: you're going around a corner, it's able to basically keep
- 21:57Speaker 2: the body dead flat as it powers out of the corner.
- 21:59Speaker 2: You've got adaptive damping and it feels like a Porsche,
- 22:03Speaker 2: and I think that's the important thing. It actually feels
- 22:06Speaker 2: every bit of Porsche that a Panamira or a kN
- 22:09Speaker 2: with this kind of juice wood.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the start of Porsche pretty much going
- 22:14Speaker 1: to all electric, which I think they'll do. Yep. Maybe
- 22:16Speaker 1: for history's sake, they'll keep the nine to eleven petrol
- 22:19Speaker 1: as long as they can. Yep. Do you think that
- 22:21Speaker 1: they're losing something going to electric.
- 22:24Speaker 2: No, Look, if it's done properly, they won't and I
- 22:26Speaker 2: think this is done properly. The only thing I didn't
- 22:28Speaker 2: really love about it it's got a two speed gearbox,
- 22:32Speaker 2: and normally with an EV the whole reason they're so
- 22:34Speaker 2: fast and potent is because they don't have any gears.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's a single speed transmission. The problem is, though that
- 22:41Speaker 2: transmission can spin up to something like seventeen thousand rpm.
- 22:44Speaker 2: The higher the rpm, the less.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Talk that you have.
- 22:46Speaker 2: So if you're on the autobar and doing two hundred
- 22:48Speaker 2: and twenty k's an hour, which is very realistic for
- 22:51Speaker 2: most cars, let alone a sports car like this, when
- 22:54Speaker 2: you nail it, you want it to hoof a long.
- 22:56Speaker 1: You want to feel it.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're in a Tesla doing two hundred k's
- 22:59Speaker 2: an hour and nail it, you genuinely would feel in
- 23:03Speaker 2: terms of the talk and the acceleration, it would feel
- 23:06Speaker 2: less than what you would feel in a Golf GTI
- 23:08Speaker 2: taking off, So it is dramatically different as the speed
- 23:11Speaker 2: picks up. Well, that wasn't good enough for Porsche. They
- 23:14Speaker 2: wanted to be able to do two twenty to nail
- 23:16Speaker 2: it and to get pinned back in the seat. The
- 23:18Speaker 2: only way to do that is to have gearing, and
- 23:20Speaker 2: they have a two speed transmission, and up until around
- 23:23Speaker 2: sixty k's an hour, you're in first gear, so for
- 23:25Speaker 2: rapid acceleration, at some point it will seamlessly transition to
- 23:29Speaker 2: the second gear and then continue accelerating. The problem is
- 23:32Speaker 2: when you're doing low speeds and it's already in the
- 23:34Speaker 2: second gear, or you're doing lower speeds and it's in
- 23:39Speaker 2: the first gear and needs to transition to the second
- 23:41Speaker 2: gear because it thinks you're going to go beyond that
- 23:42Speaker 2: sixty k and hour mark. You can actually feel it
- 23:45Speaker 2: kicking back a gear and I don't really want to
- 23:47Speaker 2: feel that in an EV.
- 23:48Speaker 1: But outside of that, it is a whopper of a car.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Five hundred kilos of power, eight hundred and fifty meters
- 23:53Speaker 1: of talk like it's some serious stuff. And Mi car
- 23:57Speaker 1: even has the option of the externals speaker. Oh everyone,
- 24:01Speaker 1: Oh so everyone could hear? And you can you still
- 24:04Speaker 1: set that external speaker to different tones?
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't really have a great deal of customizability
- 24:10Speaker 2: with In a Tesla, you do, Oh God, here we go.
- 24:14Speaker 2: In a Tesla, you can actually talk to people and
- 24:16Speaker 2: they just, yeah, they just did a firm more update
- 24:18Speaker 2: for Christmas where it will play like Christmas tunes and
- 24:21Speaker 2: flash the lights for you.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I mean that's the equivalent of wearing rollerblades in a
- 24:28Speaker 1: fanny pack. I just I want to say, I want
- 24:31Speaker 1: to say a word, which I'm not going to. What
- 24:34Speaker 1: do you think of the design? I like it? Do
- 24:36Speaker 1: you know what's funny is everyone was when the Panemira
- 24:40Speaker 1: came out. I think generally the consensus with the Panemira
- 24:43Speaker 1: was you ever loved it or you hated it. And
- 24:47Speaker 1: I think a lot more people hated the design than
- 24:50Speaker 1: loved it. I feel I think it was about the
- 24:52Speaker 1: original one or the current one. I'm going to say
- 24:54Speaker 1: the original. Yes, we're right. And I heard all these
- 24:57Speaker 1: wacky stories, like one of the heads are Porsche was like,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I want to be able to fit and zeeback sit,
- 25:04Speaker 1: so the roof needs to go over my head, like
- 25:07Speaker 1: hence that kind of weird sloping roof, And so it's
- 25:11Speaker 1: weird that they've come out with like a design that
- 25:13Speaker 1: is similar in a lot of ways. I like it though,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I really do. Look, I love Porsche. I love what
- 25:20Speaker 1: they're all about. I love how everything generally inside I'm
- 25:23Speaker 1: not talking about the electric but generally as a brand.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think everything with that car is so wonderfully in
- 25:30Speaker 1: sync and there's almost like this I don't know, harmony
- 25:36Speaker 1: or cohesion everything. It's such a road feeling car, if
- 25:39Speaker 1: that makes sense. God, I've bloody done four episodes of
- 25:42Speaker 1: you sound like such a wanker down but affected you. Yeah,
- 25:46Speaker 1: if you're saying that this car feels like a Porsche,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I think that hats off where it's due. Because if
- 25:53Speaker 1: you can take something like that and move it to electric,
- 25:56Speaker 1: that's that's pretty incredible. Whereas you look at say Tesla,
- 25:59Speaker 1: they never kind of had that at the start. You know,
- 26:02Speaker 1: they were sort of you.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Set your own soul right, and their soul is technology
- 26:08Speaker 2: more than what Porsche has and Porsche has to you know,
- 26:11Speaker 2: if you're transitioning from a vehicle from a Porsche into this,
- 26:15Speaker 2: you want it to feel familiar. And that's why it
- 26:17Speaker 2: still has the stupid turbo badge even though it doesn't
- 26:19Speaker 2: have a turbo. To a customer, when you're going to
- 26:22Speaker 2: go ask them for two hundred and I've just had
- 26:24Speaker 2: to look at the updated pricing here. When you're going
- 26:25Speaker 2: to ask them for two hundred and seventy six thousand
- 26:27Speaker 2: dollars for your new electric car. They're going to go
- 26:29Speaker 2: excuse me, and the you go, no, no, it's the turbo.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And then they go, oh, okay, that's fine because the
- 26:33Speaker 2: turbo is the expensive one in the rest of the range.
- 26:36Speaker 2: So I get the mentality right, and it's it's an
- 26:38Speaker 2: easy way for them to do it. And to be honest,
- 26:41Speaker 2: the turbos, yeah, it comes with additional stuff like your
- 26:44Speaker 2: carbon ceramic brakes and everything. But the margin on these
- 26:47Speaker 2: now is crazy because you can take a turbo with
- 26:49Speaker 2: effectively the same motors and batteries, plug a computer into.
- 26:53Speaker 1: It and go, you know the type defects.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and then all of a sudden you've got an
- 26:59Speaker 2: extra fifty kilowatts or something and you haven't had to
- 27:02Speaker 2: do a thing, but now you can charge them an
- 27:04Speaker 2: extra almost eighty thousand dollars for it.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It's interesting that you say that because I was comparing
- 27:08Speaker 1: this to say the GTS, because I thought we were
- 27:11Speaker 1: looking at a GDS today, right, But if you look
- 27:14Speaker 1: at the pricing, say the turbo's two sixty eight or
- 27:16Speaker 1: two sixty nine, the GTS is two thirty seven. Right,
- 27:21Speaker 1: one thing you're getting on both cars is dual motor
- 27:24Speaker 1: or will drive four forty kilowatts on the GTS, five
- 27:30Speaker 1: hundred on the turbop so only sixty killer watts more
- 27:34Speaker 1: zero to one hundred on the GTS in three point seven,
- 27:37Speaker 1: zero to one hundred on the turbo in three point one. Yep,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I just I kind of feel like the GTS would
- 27:42Speaker 1: be the sweet spot.
- 27:43Speaker 2: It is, and that's the thing I forgot to mention
- 27:46Speaker 2: earlier that now with the real will drive version of
- 27:48Speaker 2: the tay Carn that's entered the range, that starts off
- 27:51Speaker 2: at one hundred and fifty six grand, so that's actually
- 27:53Speaker 2: realistic money for people stepping up to a GTS then
- 27:56Speaker 2: actually brings you a whole lot more above and beyond that.
- 27:59Speaker 2: So they're really filled out the range beautifully with vehicles
- 28:02Speaker 2: to choose from.
- 28:03Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know. I like what they've done.
- 28:07Speaker 1: They need to work on things like storage.
- 28:09Speaker 2: With an EV platform, you have so much extra room
- 28:12Speaker 2: around motors, and this platform has denied them the ability
- 28:15Speaker 2: to actually have TESLAS type storage.
- 28:18Speaker 1: So there we go. Good.
- 28:21Speaker 2: So I think that they need to work on that,
- 28:23Speaker 2: and once they do that you've actually got a car
- 28:25Speaker 2: that is really fun to drive.
- 28:27Speaker 1: It's incredibly comfortable.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Like I've been carting around my daughter, my wife, all
- 28:32Speaker 2: of our shit for Christmas and it is just a
- 28:35Speaker 2: highway cruise that it is beautiful. So yeah, I think
- 28:38Speaker 2: it's a great car. And if you are a Porsche
- 28:40Speaker 2: owner and you want to get one of these, you
- 28:42Speaker 2: will feel the Porsche sold in it. It feels like
- 28:45Speaker 2: a Porsche.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I don't know what you call it. The infotainment system
- 28:47Speaker 1: on the passenger side, I guess I don't think how
- 28:50Speaker 1: much is that as an option.
- 28:51Speaker 2: It's something like fifteen hundred bucks or something like that.
- 28:54Speaker 2: They add a second screen.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It's literally right next to the middle one, and it
- 28:57Speaker 1: gives you nothing that the middle one like it. It's
- 29:00Speaker 1: just mirror a mirror image of the middle screen. It
- 29:03Speaker 1: just seems so pointless. It's like it's basically therefore, generally,
- 29:08Speaker 1: if your passenger wants to choose the music and.
- 29:11Speaker 2: They can't be bothered extending their arm by four centimeters.
- 29:14Speaker 1: To choose the GPS location, like it's that's silly.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Look, it was a novelty thing, I feel, and I
- 29:20Speaker 2: just don't think it'll be there in the future because
- 29:22Speaker 2: Varrari's tried to do it, Everyone's tried to do it,
- 29:24Speaker 2: and it's just it's pointless.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It looks cool, don't get me wrong, but unless it's
- 29:28Speaker 1: going to serve a purpose, a better purpose than what
- 29:30Speaker 1: it currently is.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Now, I showed you the as well. What did you
- 29:33Speaker 2: think about adjusting those the events? The events you can
- 29:37Speaker 2: adjust them? When did you show me that your memory
- 29:41Speaker 2: is like a goldfish roughly forty five?
- 29:44Speaker 1: Right now? What do you expect?
- 29:46Speaker 2: So with the events, you can't manually move them. You
- 29:48Speaker 2: have to actually go into the settings and.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Oh sorry, yes, sorry, the air conditioning events, yes, okay,
- 29:54Speaker 1: so I think we're talking about the things on the
- 29:55Speaker 1: front of the car.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Ah.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's dumb, that's silly. You literally go into the
- 30:01Speaker 1: computer system to change the direction of where the air
- 30:05Speaker 1: is coming from the air con, whereas you can do
- 30:08Speaker 1: that in two seconds flat just manually using a normal
- 30:13Speaker 1: like it's that's pointless. Yes, I will throw it. Just
- 30:18Speaker 1: when you're going one hundred k's an hour down a
- 30:20Speaker 1: highway and you're trying to like figure out the air con.
- 30:23Speaker 1: There's nothing good about that.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I've gotta say, my Tesla does that so my
- 30:27Speaker 2: model three. See Rosy, you have to do this.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I feel like on a I feel like on a
- 30:34Speaker 1: Saturday night you say all right, honey, I'm going out,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and you just sit in your car, sit in your Tesla,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and you're like, because you can watch YouTube on your test, like,
- 30:43Speaker 1: can't you. I feel like you just be like, all right,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I'm just going to type in my favorite porno here
- 30:48Speaker 1: and then it's up comes cor expert. Hi Paul here.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, now getting set? Am I doing? Here? Oh?
- 31:00Speaker 1: The Tesla s the model as This is the bit
- 31:05Speaker 1: where I point out the interior. Right now, I'm going
- 31:09Speaker 1: to point out my interior. Then you just get this.
- 31:19Speaker 1: It is so disturbing. Well, it does have white seats,
- 31:22Speaker 1: so it's well, it's very easy. Just wet one in
- 31:27Speaker 1: the glove box. Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Well, the reason I say I pulled it out by
- 31:30Speaker 2: car there is because I don't actually remember the last
- 31:32Speaker 2: time I moved the vents, because once you set them once,
- 31:36Speaker 2: you don't really touch them. And I think now that
- 31:40Speaker 2: I've spent the second sort of week in this in
- 31:43Speaker 2: this car, I haven't actually moved the vents after setting
- 31:46Speaker 2: them the first time, So I think it is stupid
- 31:49Speaker 2: but equally, I think that you don't worry about it
- 31:53Speaker 2: if you own the car. But second to all of that,
- 31:56Speaker 2: I think that imagine the weight that's added by those
- 32:00Speaker 2: and the complexities in making that work. Surely it's just
- 32:05Speaker 2: easier to have manually events than having to faf around
- 32:07Speaker 2: with that stuff.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, if they wanted to do something innovative, I feel
- 32:11Speaker 1: like there's a better way they could have done it,
- 32:13Speaker 1: and that was not it. Yes, I agree, But great car,
- 32:17Speaker 1: yes it is. I think it's an important car, and
- 32:20Speaker 1: I think it's Porsche putting the EV market in an
- 32:24Speaker 1: amazing space or pointing it in a great pathway. I
- 32:28Speaker 1: feel like there's more to come, obviously with this car,
- 32:31Speaker 1: because we're still early days. But the main question is
- 32:33Speaker 1: which I kind of know the answer to already, But
- 32:36Speaker 1: would you buy one of these over your Tesla, your
- 32:38Speaker 1: beloved Tesla?
- 32:40Speaker 2: No, not because I didn't like the car, but because
- 32:44Speaker 2: I've realized that with a young daughter and all of
- 32:47Speaker 2: the shit that comes with that, it just would not
- 32:50Speaker 2: suit us. I can, you know, the pram fits in
- 32:53Speaker 2: the back and all that sort of stuff, but going
- 32:55Speaker 2: away for Christmas, it was impossible to load things in.
- 32:58Speaker 2: There is a cross charisma version. I test that out recently.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It's like a wagon right, But ultimately I would just
- 33:03Speaker 2: wait for the mccahn. I would like I would buy
- 33:05Speaker 2: a Porsche version of an EV that has storage because
- 33:09Speaker 2: I really like what they've done with it.
- 33:10Speaker 1: So do you like the McCanns. I don't hate them
- 33:14Speaker 1: at the moment.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I don't love them because even like the turbo version
- 33:17Speaker 2: isn't just really all that fast for me. But if
- 33:19Speaker 2: they do a fast version like this, I would buy
- 33:21Speaker 2: an EV Porsche.
- 33:22Speaker 1: So they'd be doing the mccahn the Cayman as well. Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 1: I think so Cameman and boxed. It will be ev afied.
- 33:28Speaker 1: That's an interesting one, isn't it Because when you look
- 33:30Speaker 1: at when you look at that they're engines. The kind
- 33:34Speaker 1: of selling point with those is the engines are in
- 33:35Speaker 1: the middle yep, beautifully weighted. There must be some amazing
- 33:39Speaker 1: engineering going on if they can do that in this.
- 33:41Speaker 2: It's actually easier with this because your battery pack sits
- 33:44Speaker 2: on the floor, so you have a low center of gravity.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Your motors can then be in line with the axle,
- 33:48Speaker 2: so then you can play with how much weight you
- 33:50Speaker 2: want over the front or rear to get you that
- 33:52Speaker 2: weight distribution that you want. So, if anything, it's easier
- 33:55Speaker 2: with an EV to get the fifty to fifty or
- 33:58Speaker 2: or whatever weight distribution you want to suit them vehicle.
- 34:01Speaker 1: In addition to that, you.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Can also like you can control how much talk is
- 34:07Speaker 2: going to each wheel instantly.
- 34:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean. Yeah, it's finessing. Yeah, why
- 34:11Speaker 1: we wrap things up. Top. Three cars that you're looking
- 34:15Speaker 1: forward to for twenty twenty two.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Looking forward to the new Forward Ranger, so more specifically
- 34:21Speaker 2: the Ranger Raptor. I think that's going to be an
- 34:23Speaker 2: absolute beast of a thing. I cannot wait to drive
- 34:26Speaker 2: the Audi e Tron GT so, yeah, the Audi version
- 34:30Speaker 2: of the Taekwon Turbo. I think that looks absolutely stunning.
- 34:33Speaker 1: And I think that looks it looks proper coal, doesn't it.
- 34:37Speaker 1: So I think that'll be really cool. And then third
- 34:39Speaker 1: one good question, what else am I looking forward to?
- 34:44Speaker 2: I think the the other one that I can't really
- 34:47Speaker 2: wait to drive, as well as the Key EV six
- 34:50Speaker 2: Ah yeah, the GT versions. So, I mean we've driven
- 34:53Speaker 2: fast cars now from Portcha and Tesla, but I'm going
- 34:55Speaker 2: to see how the Koreans do it and what their
- 34:58Speaker 2: take on a fast ev is and I hope it's good.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I hope it's not. Ship I can tell you one
- 35:02Speaker 1: of those things is on my list. Oh so one
- 35:06Speaker 1: of them, which I haven't driven yet, is the Young
- 35:09Speaker 1: Day I twenty en and possibly I'm going to can
- 35:12Speaker 1: I put the I thirty Sedan in in that rank
- 35:15Speaker 1: as well? Let's go on, what else did I have
- 35:17Speaker 1: I was looking forward to. I was going to say
- 35:18Speaker 1: the Lotus and Mirror, but I'm going to swap that
- 35:22Speaker 1: for Yeah, I'm going to swap that for the EV
- 35:24Speaker 1: six yep, again, the GT not the GT line, the GTEP.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I love the advertising for that. It's cool, just it
- 35:33Speaker 1: is cool. That's that's very well done there. That will
- 35:35Speaker 1: be interesting, it'll be it'd be really cool to see
- 35:37Speaker 1: how they do that. I wanted to put the Ford
- 35:40Speaker 1: Bronco in there, but that's never coming to Australia thanks
- 35:43Speaker 1: to I guess the Ford Ranger or pretty much the
- 35:47Speaker 1: what's that? What's that other one? The Everest Oh, yep.
- 35:49Speaker 2: The Everest of the Fall Drive version of the or
- 35:53Speaker 2: the SUV version of the Ranger.
- 35:54Speaker 1: They reckon they would never sell the Ford Bronco here,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and like they they knocked off markets like the UK,
- 36:00Speaker 1: New Zealand, I can't remember, Africa, South Africa, Japan, they're
- 36:05Speaker 1: all right hand drive markets. I thought that's so quite
- 36:07Speaker 1: well here I would.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Sell very well here. But ultimately, if you look at
- 36:10Speaker 2: the numbers they're doing in the States Australia, even if
- 36:13Speaker 2: it sells incredibly well here, even if they sold as
- 36:15Speaker 2: many as they do the High Lucks or Ranger, it
- 36:17Speaker 2: still wouldn't be much compared to what they'll get in
- 36:21Speaker 2: those left hand drive markets.
- 36:23Speaker 1: If they added more to the price tag, they should
- 36:25Speaker 1: be able to do that.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, potentially, but still it means tooling up a factory
- 36:29Speaker 2: to do right hand drive, and it's just a huge
- 36:31Speaker 2: amount of cost for not a massive amount of volume.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yeah. I did see the Lamborghini Hurricane, yes, and I
- 36:37Speaker 1: thought about that. Is it sto or starsto? Yep, I'm
- 36:41Speaker 1: going to put that on there. I don't know how
- 36:43Speaker 1: to pronounce it, but shit, it looks good. It does
- 36:48Speaker 1: look great. If you go onto Lamborghini's Instagram page, you've
- 36:51Speaker 1: got to see how they advertise their cars. It's so strange.
- 36:57Speaker 2: So have you seen this.
- 36:59Speaker 1: There's like a woman and sitting there like riding in
- 37:01Speaker 1: her journal in a field. There's a car. Let's say
- 37:05Speaker 1: it's a hurricane right near her and it's going She's
- 37:09Speaker 1: looking up and she's like, no, no, not today, not today,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I'm not today. Please, I'm riding on my journal. Don't
- 37:17Speaker 1: do this to me. Now.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Last week we ran a competition to guess the engine
- 37:23Speaker 2: sound that to be.
- 37:23Speaker 1: In a bit of trouble here, but go ahead, yes,
- 37:25Speaker 1: would you like me to reveal it?
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yes, because we had what I believe is a successful entry,
- 37:31Speaker 2: and I will also reveal what I'm going to send
- 37:34Speaker 2: this person. So can you please reveal the engine sound
- 37:38Speaker 2: it was?
- 37:39Speaker 1: Here's the controverty Okay, basically it was a VK commodore.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Oh it sounded like a very broken Yes. It was
- 37:48Speaker 1: their first startup in like ten years. Oh so it
- 37:51Speaker 1: had come out of a garage covered in dust. Yes,
- 37:54Speaker 1: I never would have picked that. So what am I
- 37:57Speaker 1: sending them on my desk? I have We're going to
- 38:00Speaker 1: send you a picture of Paul. Yes, I've got a set.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Of driving gloves signed by Ken Block. So Chris, congratulations
- 38:08Speaker 2: on guessing that and probably cheating, but you will be
- 38:12Speaker 2: getting a set of driving gloves signed by ken Block himself.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Which Paul uses in his tesla. In his tesla, yeah,
- 38:26Speaker 1: he's driving gloves. Give me extra group. I'd like to
- 38:34Speaker 1: send the show out just with actually, you know what
- 38:38Speaker 1: you could this could be your music where you're hosting
- 38:41Speaker 1: a radio show. Welcome to midnight, Paul. Yeah, you do
- 38:47Speaker 1: your best, sort of best you do? You give me
