- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I appreciate those nice words, be it's great to be with you and see like, I felt like I cheated the system man.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I got to take off the first time I'm, you know, doing the podcast for gosh 11, 12 years.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: The first time I took off like a full four months, and I missed prediction season.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: It was the basket.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the grind, the off-season grind after the draft and freeze your over and then the lead up to the season where it's like the top five this the top ten that who's the this who's the I didn't have to do any of it, but he it was amazing.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's coming for predictions season is predictions 3.0 and predictions 3.1 just like your mock drafts to the drafts it's great all suggest that to one of the producers over there at the NFL bank it rank it and bank it as they say.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I'm loving it.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would encourage people to go subscribe to do channel.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: I shared something on my show the other day and people loved it.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: You, you, you had dinner, laughski on the other day and you guys were talking a lot about Brock Party and there's all kinds of debates going on, which is the nature of Brock party.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it's only been three weeks.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: But one of them is, is he playing better football than he's ever played or are people just taking different notice of it and how good a football is he playing.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll ask you the second one because I know you, you know, one of the hallmarks of your work is you just watch the film as a scout.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: What does it tell you when you watch Brock right now?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think obviously he's been a very good player for a few years and this is leveling up to me in terms of and and Dan and I talked about it.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure you guys, you know, referencing that the the ability to play so fast in a calm manner, which is just a unique superpower that he has, it's just gone to another level.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: and he's seeing everything so clearly.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's always been very accurate.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's made good decisions, but the speed at which he's playing and the poise that he's displaying.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's separated, but that's where he's leveled up.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: And some people took it the wrong way when I said, like, this is, like, clearly his team now.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, he went to a Super Bowl.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: This has been his team.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, no, like, it's one thing to say, like, he's, he's, um,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: he's very respected by the team and they he's a winning player and they love him but when you still like that Super Bowl team if you were gonna just say like rank the best players on that team he wouldn't have been ranked as one of the three best players on that team like you had some you know the whole of fame level players in the peak prime of their careers and now when you watch them it's like this is his team he's the in my opinion he's the best football player
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: which by the way, like the same could be said for Brady's not to say he's Brady, but the same would be said for Brady's Russell Wilson.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: The last thing you just said sounds to me like a new take.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of like Brock's playing great, nobody's playing better.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: I have not heard Brock's the best player on this team as an opinion this year.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's a fresh opinion.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, for me is, I mean, he's, and look, George is playing great.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: I love what I've seen from him.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, Mike Evans has been healthy and out there.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's played great.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Trent isn't in all type of great.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: I just think of where they are and they're pointing their careers.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: And McAfrey, you go on and on with the list.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: Bosa has been healthy.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Fred.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: I got, you could say Fred is in that, that's a, that's a legit conversation, Fred's unbelievable.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: So that would be the pushback.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: I could say that maybe I'll, maybe I'll soften it and say offensively.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: But he's playing his position as well as you can play it, as well in Fred's playing his position, as well as you can play it.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: I know you had Philip Rivers just out on the show that you did that came in on Thursday and, you know, watching Philip play last year in person because the
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: one of the joys of the season for me.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was just special.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: And he could only do that because he played quarterback a certain way.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, this is a brought question.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if anything you talk to Philip about comes into the whip.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: But like when you're watching all these guys right now, could you be a little more specific?
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is it that Perdi is doing that you think is is so hard or so unique?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know, Philip brought up a great point.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because I asked him the difference of when you entered the league.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: And he was in the O4 class.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we sat behind Breeze for a few years.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then off he goes.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, now you take this time away.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then come back for five years.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how much, what had changed about the position?
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what's different with how the position is being played?
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, look,
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: For me, for him, it was the same, but his point was these quarterbacks coming to the league now, like if they get the first sign of trouble as a young quarterback, they have their athleticism but fall back on.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what they do and he said, and there's some good explosive plays that happen out of that, but there's also the two negative sides of it, which are you can be a little bit reckless and get yourself hurt and you can also end up turning the ball over.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like there's there's some negatives that come along with that health or skeletal athletic, uh, you know, way of facing the adversity you're going to face.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: He said when he came into the league and because he couldn't move out of the way, he's like, I had to know where Sproll's wood head, you know, LT, where those guys were on every place.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: So as soon as I got trouble, I had to know where my safety net was and he said, that's still works.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where you think about Brock.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Brock has the athleticism to be able to do that stuff, but he only, that's like a in case of emergency break class.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's much better at just knowing, knowing the field, knowing where everybody is and being able to get to that player.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a, it's a great way for longevity.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the way he's playing right now, as well as he's playing, and also, you know, you can project this out that he's going to be able to do this for a long time.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: All four, I, I, I, I, I need to probably double check this, but I, I, I felt that the, the Niners are number one and offensive explosive pass play percentage.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: They're number three and explosive run play percentage.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it was 16%.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I was looking at it like, that seems high.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because Brock has four explosive scrams in three games, I think all of I'd have to do this the party double check.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's all as scrambles, or I put explosives as ten years ago.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're not like design quarterback runs.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's just him seeing it and taking it, which is incredible, but that's also the overall awareness that he has and it's not something he's reliant on and he does a great job protecting himself when he does get out there.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: I am in the category of to go back to the first part of the brought question.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I ask you like the debate of Izzy better has he always been this good and people are finally I did think coming out of training camp.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: My pain was he's going to have the best year.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it just felt like first of all he's coming into his prime.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: So this is if you last this long year five 27 28 like this should be when it happens right.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I just thought everything about the way he looked with everything felt so intentional.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I think when you watch him, I watched before this interview.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I watched all 83 of his throws this year.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason was because he's been, Rahim Morris was calling him the Lair King in training camp.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Now he let you know that Lair throw over the tight end.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: But what stood out to me is his rip it throws.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: So this is on official count DJ you're the film guy not me.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: You can double check it if you want to go watch all 83 But I counted him with five kind of layer throws and only one between the hashes And 19 18 rip it throws where I'm like God he drive in the ball Draw it like his top speed throw yeah No, I didn't I haven't logged all of his throws from last year, but like That's not the way we talk about him
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I'm going to what I'm talking about as touch.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, go ahead.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think you used a word there if a, if a, if I remember correctly here, conviction like playing with conviction.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I've used a line, um,
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: you got to be able to trust your eyes and trust your guys like you know what I mean like trust what you're seeing but then also trust that the the guys you're thrown to or seeing the same thing that's how you play fat that's how you play with conviction that's how you play fast and there's a intent I think was the word that you used like playing with intent so I think that's part of it too I think having
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: you know, smart players around him.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: And especially when you know, when Mike is out there and Kiddler were out there, like you're talking about guys who've seen everything, they're gonna see the same exact picture that Brock's in.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then with that comes the confidence and then the confidence and the conviction to just in your words, let it rip.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: He used the word the other day after week two, he said, a violent throw.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, what, what is a violent throw?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the same, you know, it's exactly what,
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you, I've said this, DJ, I'm a little embarrassed, actually I'm a lot embarrassed.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like I thought, yeah, Mike Evans, I held a player.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And now watch him in three weeks, every snap, I'm like, oh my God, I'm embarrassed to say, I don't think I quite realize how good this is.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: There.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, what he's the consistency in the longevity is pretty incredible.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I also think there's certain players in the league that you may have seen him in, you know, on TV or maybe you see him in passing in a game here there.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: But when you're around guys like that every day, you've realized how big he is.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's huge, he's enormous.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so as a quarterback, there's a faith in a trust there that like, just, like it's put in the vicinity, he's going to be able to bring that thing in.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: It provides a lot of trust.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: the other thing I'm sure you I mean you do reports on all these guys and as I recall I think your Brock pretty report was pretty accurate I don't remember what you said exactly I've talked I've talked to him about it like we did a a little shoot with Toyota oh that's right that whole thing on that and went over it I I enjoyed the heck out of that day then my favorite thing about spending a day with Brock party was obviously just an unbelievable guy if you if you put around him he's a great dude we we were like the same person in that we were
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: So we were talking about like the Brian Bros and like Grant Horvatt, you know, talking about golf games and all those things, but yeah, he's just, he's a regular dude, man.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: DJ for people who don't know, and he's got the, that's the Appalachian State helmet behind him if you, uh, if you're watching the video, DJ play quarterback at App State for three years.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the quarterbacks are just, it's unfair.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, uh, have never picked up the,
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: I break that rule.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: I told him and I've told this story before.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: I apparently haven't told you.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: I did not play golf at all growing up and then I get to my first NFL jobs with the Baltimore Ravens and their personnel department and they have a personnel golf tournament and Ozzy News gets the first pick because, well, Ozzy News.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: So he gets the first pick in the drafting goes, I'm taking Jeremiah.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I go, oh, whoa, I go, Aussie, I'd never play golf.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like I've maybe picked up a club a couple of times, but like I'm terrible.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if he's like, you're a white quarterback from San Diego, we'll be fine.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: You'll be better than all these guys.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: The first, the first T shot.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: I, they're the pro shop is to the right and it's got a sighting and when I hit my t-shirt slice it so bad, it's not like a bomb exploded.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: And then Ozzy goes, man, you weren't kidding.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you see, it's only bad draft pick.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Ozzy knew some ever made more, and there was more where that came from, but yeah, I mean, I see, yeah, I was, yeah, I was, yeah, what you, what, what if you thought watching just the shanty hand, the whole shanty hand experience so far this year?
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: it's been fun.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: What he's doing with you check is like, this is the problem.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Is it shanehank and do this stuff with with with use check?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I see other teams in the NFL trying to do something similar.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, but you don't have that guy.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's it's incredible design and creativity in what they're able to do with them.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: But he
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there's another guy at that position or that you could put in that position that can do all the stuff that he does, man.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is such, that's such an advantage to have the creativity that you have with shanehand, but then having a player like that who allows you to get to a lot of that stuff.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: So given that, like it feels like I'm Kyle was asked a great question by Grant Cohen and the press with it.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, do you feel like you're in the zone?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, kind of swaggy collands.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: I feel the same as always, you know.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it works, sometimes you call it bad plan and works.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: But given that, I think really given Brock, you know, those are the reasons that Bosa will see, Evans will see if he plays this week.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: On and on, you know, the receiver injuries are crazy.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: My couple of them just started practicing, but anyway, and the schedules, you know, three straight at home wraps up this week, and then you go to Seattle, you know, things they had a little tougher,
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I still think they need some past rush guy.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like eventually they're going to get to the part where they're going to need more they're going to be more and that sort of is that to you is like if you're going to be a true superbook container, you think you got to make a trade for that.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to see that unless there's some, you know, I don't know I'm not up to date on the health of Bosa and what that looks like, you know, long term and if you can even count on that going forward.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could argue even if you think he's he is coming back that you still you need to get some extra.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the riders are three and all.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Right now, I mean, okay, the league can change fast, but right now they're not making that move, but yeah, who knows.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's all that things change quick around the league and you might get some names pop up that you wouldn't expect as the, as the GMs have gotten a little younger, we've seen a little more willingness to, to make moves like this.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I think you'll have, they'll have opportunities to upgrade the past, right when that time comes.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, what's what's that connection?
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: The younger GMs.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's younger.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a little more basebally.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think there used to be, you know, just reluctance to do that.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's too complicated to keep it simple, especially in season.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: How are we going to get these guys up to speed?
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we just saw reporters get treated to cowboys, you know.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: When the last day or whatever it was so I mean like there's there's stuff movement is a lot more Plentiful now.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think under this you know a little more active.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think some of it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: This sounds crazy But obviously I'm not talking about Lynch here, but like these younger guys They're just like us they grew up playing fantasy football like it's kind of they trading is fun like there's gonna be opportunities out there and movement because it's You got it you know, it's not working.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Let's not just keep banging our head against the wall.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's let's try and unload NASA and so we can do
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they've watched your, you're guy how we do it over and over and over again, right?
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I was, I was, somebody was talking about, you know, somebody was, oh, somebody was, I was talking to somebody that day and like, oh, you know, it's going to happen right.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what's that?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, well, the Eagles are kind of win some ugly games and they're kind of just be hanging around.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: And then miraculously like Marvin Harrison, Jr. will get, he'll end up like becoming what he was supposed to be coming out after he gets traded to the Eagles.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was one of the jokes that I got.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we've seen it a few times and I, you know, I do think the Niners, I think Philly's kind of similar to this in the sense that like, there's just a, there's a profile of like, no, Niners made a trade.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: Let me guess what that player's like, right?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: And it's, and it works and I think it's part of the reason why Kyle can do some of the stuff he does is because he has players that he can really trust.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and the Max Crosby getting traded and then coming back and you're right, we'll see, I mean, their next four games are really play Kansas City.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: The next four for the Raiders are a really tough, but what's your, when you think about the league right now, NFC or AFC, like is there, you know, Niners are obviously in this conversation, the bills, I think somebody asked me about Seattle the day and I'm like, I know they lost, but they're fine.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: So what that was your video to watch like I watched that because I I'm like Jesus, 30 something points.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I know they're missing two safeties, but you watch them in the trenches and like it's a Leonard Williams and you know, it's Murphy.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's Mills, like all these guys are kind of like a wrecking shop and like how the heck I know pick six was one of them.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: But it wasn't you weren't watching defense there going well, there's a lot of slippage there like now that they're going to be fine.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: So who's tier one for you?
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: in teams.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I still, I mean, Seattle's in there, the Niners in there have joined it.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I, even the Rams with their record, I'm not, I mean, I'm eyes are what they are, the quarterbacks insane, you know, and they're eventually going to get Garrett back.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I think they'll be there.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Philadelphia is just, I think they're going to muddy their way to kind of, you know, find their way around there.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, trying to think of what other, uh, well, I mean, South doesn't really do a whole lot.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, let's
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, sorry, sorry, I was just staying with the NFC and the AFC, yeah, the AFC, we start getting into the list.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jacksonville, 100% is in there.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they've, they just kind of quietly go out and hammer most teams.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they kind of let one go and Denverton Play to Bestball there.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: But they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they,
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be there at the end.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're really good in the trenches.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're well coordinated, well designed, and the quarterback's played great, man.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's been playing a high level for a little while now.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they're definitely in there.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think of all the takeaways kind of going through all this stuff.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: The one that surprised me the most.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, I call the charger games.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think they would be 0 and 3 based off their first two games on their schedule.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: But even more so than that, it would be Houston.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: I picked Houston to go to the Super Bowl.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think I picked Houston to win the Super Bowl.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: I Never in a million years thought with the same boat there in last year second year and rather Oh, and three to start the season with that defense.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think they were the seven teams It's 1990 to make the playoffs.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: I went three last year.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's a Dude to try out again, but you know, I also think it's like it's what we talk about all the time with quarterbacks I We love crowning guys, which is fine.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't even like I love debating quarterbacks is my favorite thing
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just doing it for two years and doing it for six years or two really different things.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: And teams change and coaching changes.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, look what's going on in Tampa right now with Baker and Drake May and second year of CJ stroud and like, it's become as volatile as like kickers.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like they like kickers, I have one or two and closers and baseball would be the other thing.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Where you see guys who are at the top and then all of a sudden you're like, man, that's pretty volatile.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: It just changed like on a dime.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: Is it because coordinators get like this is why I would hire my head coach has to be my often like Mike Mcdonald keep that voice there, but it's just I don't I mean could you hire a non play calling head coach if you were the day on Jeremiah the GM of T max.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think it sounds good to say, you know, you know, at the best leader and those things and you know what if I had a if I was going to hire this is why I put it if I was going to hire a defensive coach wouldn't be my first it would not be my first choice, but a non negotiable is we are offensive coordinators going to already have been a failed head coach.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we can't get another job right away.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Don't anywhere.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not going anywhere.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Think about McDaniels.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: Think about the beauty there with frable.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got an experienced play color.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that the years not where they want it.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: But who's had tremendous success as a play color?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you know because of two failures as a head coach, you're probably not going to lose them.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: Think about Andy Reed on the other side of the ball.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the continuity of Steve Spagnolo because he didn't work out as a head coach.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't had a chance to get another gig.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you the best hire.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Raheem, Raheem, like, I thought this was about Sala.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's not going to do enough job that fast.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: They need it.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, while Raheem's had two, people forget about the first one.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: But this is going really well.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: But like, Brian Flores.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: exactly.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that one is like, it feels like no one's going to hire him, right?
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: And he's, which they should.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know obviously the lawsuit and the complicated things run from the ownership standpoint, maybe, but the gosh, the performance and what he's done.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: It just it went terribly in Miami and the thing that killed him is that it was ugly with the quarterback.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Whether or not two of you felt he was any good or not, but when you have the head coach, he's a defensive son of the ball and didn't go great with the quarterback.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's something
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: you get a really smart guy is a really really good coach and a coordinator and you think you know it's not just going to be the first train at a town when the success happens.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: So you should manage.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing with all this shenanigans is like I got the you hire their defensive coach like I got the OC don't worry about it like I got seven guys to choose for right now.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: No everybody.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: And people love Raheem and he's done like I think all things considered I thought solid deserved a lot of credit last year for everything they went wrong.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: How good they were and I would say the same thing about Raheem right now.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: Number two defensively I've just on the explosive plays right now as you can tell yeah They've given up the fewest explosive runs and the second fewest explosive plays by percentage of plays in Deja, they can't get off the field.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've had eight drives on defense at 12 plays or more It's only one of the teams is two thousand has had that.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's crazy.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_00]: They played Fred Warner played a seven snaps this week I don't love that.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know you get 17 but I do think you know he's done a he seems to have done a pretty good job
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely it's point prevention man when you get down there be able to get a stop once you get get down there That's how you survive in this leg, but I just you know personnel wise Pastrush is something that it's gonna have to come into play here at some point time.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: You got a Broncos take
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think they're going to be, I think, figuring out how to play with jail and water.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: They wanted them so bad and then kind of figuring out exactly how to utilize them.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: The first week was enough, and he had three targets in the first game against Kent City's befuddling.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then he saw him the next game, they kind of got him the ball early and made a bunch of plays and I think he's a little nicked up right now.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I think they'll find their way defensively, I mean, Stafford was on a heater.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: I know they got him on a pick six, but,
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: and they were movable up and down the field just not many offenses you're going to see even without the cool like staff hurts throwing the ball like that.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's I don't care who you are.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate you man.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know you're busy.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: Anything you have fill up and you have next week planned yet?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: We've got fill up with, you know, we're going to have a big name college coach come on.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know anything next week or the week hair for but I want jinx it and tease it until we until we lock it up.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: Who do you want to talk to?
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's the, I mean, I always like I like college guys who I think might end up
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: leveling up.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's your tip.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's your tip.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Chip Kelly's the O.C.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: at Northwestern.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's, uh, yeah.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean Ryan Day, you know, Marcus Freeman, that name floated, uh, but I don't think that's what you're doing.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're, I think you're talking to Jed Fish.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say this.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: Of all the names you just mentioned, one of them is who we're
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take that.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: Look at you.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: Look at you.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: DJ.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's great to see you, man.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, buddy.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: You did the best, man.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck to rest of your.
