- 0:05Speaker 3: Well, look at you all refreshed and ready to go
- 0:08Speaker 3: on this Monday. Welcome back there, Chili Amar ninety seven
- 0:11Speaker 3: point one watch FM Toby and Chile in the morning.
- 0:14Speaker 3: So I'm very happy you made it back. Did your
- 0:17Speaker 3: husband drive you guys back or did you drive back
- 0:19Speaker 3: with with a purpose and determination to get back home quickly?
- 0:25Speaker 4: No, he does the driving.
- 0:27Speaker 5: I did sleep some of the way to and back home,
- 0:30Speaker 5: but we were down in Nag'shead, North Carolina. We love
- 0:34Speaker 5: to take an annual trip there and had a lovely time.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I'm well rested and shockingly awake at this point because.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It's always hard to re enter.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Yes, the time zone difference that you and I live
- 0:48Speaker 5: in every other time so it's ridiculous times. So that's
- 0:52Speaker 5: why I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good that I'm actually
- 0:55Speaker 5: awake and okay for the time being as I come back.
- 0:58Speaker 4: And I'm also feeling good.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Might I add that I'm coming back to a shorter
- 1:02Speaker 5: work week because the third of July this Friday, we
- 1:06Speaker 5: have off.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Right a and then the fourth of July is straight
- 1:11Speaker 3: ahead of us and then Sunday and Monday, and a
- 1:13Speaker 3: lot of people are packing in vacations post the fourth
- 1:17Speaker 3: or that whole week of.
- 1:18Speaker 6: The fourth or whatever.
- 1:19Speaker 4: So how are you doing today?
- 1:20Speaker 6: I'm me I'm great man.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I'm just thankful number one that you're back because it
- 1:24Speaker 3: makes things a little bit easier on the flow. I'm
- 1:29Speaker 3: quasi rested, but you know what, Sometimes I look at
- 1:33Speaker 3: that clock when I'm trying to fall asleep and I think,
- 1:36Speaker 3: will this actually happen? And then I stop thinking about it,
- 1:40Speaker 3: and that's when sleep typically sets in. Yeah, so I'm rested,
- 1:44Speaker 3: but I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little tired today.
- 1:46Speaker 3: But that's why got invented coffee.
- 1:48Speaker 5: That's right, and that's why we'll have a second and
- 1:51Speaker 5: third cup later this morning.
- 1:52Speaker 3: So why are you feeling good this morning? Eight sixty
- 1:54Speaker 3: six nine two seven forty three sixty one is the
- 1:56Speaker 3: number on this Monday morning. Feel free to tell us
- 1:59Speaker 3: what's me and you feel good? Bringing you joy because
- 2:02Speaker 3: it's contagious. In the meantime, hopefully the news won't bring
- 2:06Speaker 3: you down this morning. Top stories at the top of
- 2:08Speaker 3: the hour Chile.
- 2:09Speaker 5: What's going on this year's fourth of July celebration on
- 2:12Speaker 5: the National Mall is going to be looking a lot different.
- 2:15Speaker 4: We've got the details on why on the.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Way top Stories, top of the Hour.
- 2:23Speaker 5: The US and Iran are agreeing to stand down temporarily
- 2:27Speaker 5: and allow ships to move freely through the Strait of
- 2:29Speaker 5: horm Moose. The announcement came after Iran targeted US allies
- 2:33Speaker 5: near the Persian Gulf after the US military carried out
- 2:36Speaker 5: attacks against Iran in retaliation for a drone strike on
- 2:40Speaker 5: a ship that was traveling through the strait. Rescue crews
- 2:43Speaker 5: are working around the clock in Venezuela as the death
- 2:46Speaker 5: toll from Wednesday's earthquakes climbs past fourteen hundred, with nearly
- 2:52Speaker 5: sixty nine thousand people still missing. The US is sending
- 2:55Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty million dollar aid package, with more
- 2:59Speaker 5: expected to fallow. Minimum wage workers in Montgomery County are
- 3:03Speaker 5: getting a raise starting July first, tied to inflation, so
- 3:07Speaker 5: depending on the company size, pay goes up to either
- 3:10Speaker 5: fifteen ninety five, sixteen fifty, or eighteen dollars an hour.
- 3:16Speaker 5: This year's Fourth of July celebration on the National Mall,
- 3:19Speaker 5: it's going to look a lot different. First of all,
- 3:22Speaker 5: the president is speaking, which is why the DHS bumped
- 3:25Speaker 5: up security to the same level that is used for inaugurations.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Now this means airport style screening, a long list of
- 3:33Speaker 5: banned items, and way less space to spread out. And
- 3:37Speaker 5: according to a major news study, screen time is risky
- 3:41Speaker 5: for kids under the age of two, linking it to
- 3:44Speaker 5: language delays, poor sleep, and weaker parent bonding. Researchers say
- 3:50Speaker 5: babies that age shouldn't get any regular screen time at all.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Forecast for today, it's going to be sunny, skies, highs
- 3:57Speaker 5: around eighty six right now, those seventy in Oakdon.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Matt easd News your first look at the headlines, Toby
- 4:03Speaker 3: and Chilly's top stories at the top of the hour
- 4:05Speaker 3: ninety seven point one WASHFM.
- 4:07Speaker 6: We're next.
- 4:07Speaker 3: We're going to talk about how you're doing on this
- 4:10Speaker 3: Monday as we get into what is a short week
- 4:12Speaker 3: for some, but maybe it's not for you, and that
- 4:14Speaker 3: might have you feel in some sort of way, well,
- 4:16Speaker 3: maybe we can help turn your morning around and take
- 4:19Speaker 3: your mind off of these things that stress you out
- 4:21Speaker 3: your morning mindset, clear your mind and check this out
- 4:24Speaker 3: in minutes. Here we are on Monday morning with Washington's
- 4:29Speaker 3: variety of the eighties, nineties, and today. Toby and Chile
- 4:32Speaker 3: in the Morning ninety seven point one WASHFM. How are
- 4:35Speaker 3: you doing this morning? Let's talk about it.
- 4:38Speaker 5: And if you're not doing well, maybe a little inspiration
- 4:41Speaker 5: could help you in the form of our morning mindset, and.
- 4:45Speaker 3: This morning we pay attention to the words of Andrea Dykstra,
- 4:49Speaker 3: who says, to love who you are, you cannot hate
- 4:53Speaker 3: the experiences that shaped you. To love who you are,
- 4:58Speaker 3: you cannot hate the experiences that shaped you. I think
- 5:04Speaker 3: what you need to know about this is that it's
- 5:07Speaker 3: not about the stuff that you've been through. It's about
- 5:10Speaker 3: who you've become as a result of it and where
- 5:12Speaker 3: you're going to go. Things that you've been through, stuff
- 5:16Speaker 3: that's a part of your story. It's not a mistake,
- 5:19Speaker 3: it's your foundation. So embrace that today. You know Andrea Dykstra,
- 5:24Speaker 3: to love who you are, you cannot hate the experiences
- 5:27Speaker 3: that shaped you. So how will that apply to your
- 5:31Speaker 3: life today? Well, that's where we get to watch the
- 5:33Speaker 3: story of you unfold. And that's your morning mindset for
- 5:36Speaker 3: this Monday. Got something to share with the class, feel
- 5:38Speaker 3: free to send it our way. Toby Chilipage, WASHFM dot
- 5:41Speaker 3: com and as always you cannot find your morning mindsets
- 5:45Speaker 3: on our social pages and so much more, stay with
- 5:48Speaker 3: us because in just a few minutes, Chilly, what doll
- 5:50Speaker 3: we have?
- 5:50Speaker 4: This is really cool.
- 5:51Speaker 5: A study found that small everyday moments are powerful triggers
- 5:55Speaker 5: for happiness that can last, you know, the effect that
- 5:58Speaker 5: can last about thirteen minutes. And we're going to there
- 6:00Speaker 5: are you some of these little moments in everyday life
- 6:04Speaker 5: coming up?
- 6:04Speaker 3: There's a survey floating around that you might have seen
- 6:09Speaker 3: about happiness and what adults think of small everyday moments
- 6:14Speaker 3: and how they apply to that word happiness. Toby and
- 6:17Speaker 3: Hilly in the Morning ninety seven point one watch FMS.
- 6:19Speaker 5: So there are everyday moments that apparently can trigger happiness
- 6:23Speaker 5: and smiling with effects that can last about thirteen minutes,
- 6:27Speaker 5: and of course that in turn leads to people being kinder, which,
- 6:31Speaker 5: let's be honest, we really.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Could use more of these days, right.
- 6:35Speaker 5: And some of the things on this list include a
- 6:38Speaker 5: kind gesture from a stranger to you, waking up on
- 6:42Speaker 5: a sunny morning, seeing an elderly couple hold hands. There's
- 6:46Speaker 5: so many great things on this list. What's something that
- 6:49Speaker 5: stands out to you that really does squeeze your heart
- 6:52Speaker 5: or put a smile on your face.
- 6:53Speaker 6: Well.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I like the fact too that in this research they
- 6:56Speaker 3: also found that people were more motivated by some of
- 7:00Speaker 3: this stuff and they're more open to taking positive risks.
- 7:02Speaker 3: That being said, I will tell you that a freshly
- 7:06Speaker 3: washed set of bed sheets is something that makes me
- 7:10Speaker 3: smile and then sleep well and that motivates everything. Everything
- 7:15Speaker 3: plus watching a puppy.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I mean having a pet that you love
- 7:19Speaker 5: come up and snuggle with you.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Here's one that I think that I am certainly asking
- 7:27Speaker 5: for more often is a hug.
- 7:29Speaker 6: Uh huh.
- 7:30Speaker 5: That's when I'm starting to feel myself get disregulated or anxious.
- 7:35Speaker 5: I'll go up to my husband and I'll say, can
- 7:37Speaker 5: I just have a hug? And he doesn't ask, He
- 7:39Speaker 5: doesn't even ask anymore. He's like, yep, and he just
- 7:41Speaker 5: hugs me, right, And it's just that embrace gives me,
- 7:46Speaker 5: puts a smile on my face because it just centers me.
- 7:49Speaker 4: If that makes any.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Sense, it does. Absolutely.
- 7:51Speaker 3: But I'm glad that you can do that because I've
- 7:53Speaker 3: like conditioned myself not to even ask for a hug
- 7:56Speaker 3: or to be around in the workplace for a hug,
- 7:58Speaker 3: because I just don't want people to give that side.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I look, you know what I mean.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Well, workplace is very different than your spouse, I know,
- 8:04Speaker 4: but you know.
- 8:04Speaker 3: What I mean, I let the two blend together. Sometimes
- 8:08Speaker 3: Maybe I need to just relax and watch people hug
- 8:10Speaker 3: and be happy for them, and that might help lead
- 8:13Speaker 3: me to some happiness, right, and it'll improve my mood too,
- 8:16Speaker 3: according to this research. Yeah, this is a great list
- 8:20Speaker 3: of things to look at and when you look at it,
- 8:23Speaker 3: think about the things that make you smile and then
- 8:26Speaker 3: feel free to tell us what they are. You can
- 8:27Speaker 3: find us on the Toby and chilipage at waschfm dot com.

- 12:43Speaker 3: when you go on. Vacation and let's ask the recently
- 12:47Speaker 3: vacationed Chilli omar per take on. This what do you
- 12:51Speaker 3: think about this whole perk on vacation that's worth spending extra?
- 12:54Speaker 5: MONEY i think for, us the amenity that's worth it
- 12:57Speaker 5: is having a pool even though we're going to the
- 12:59Speaker 5: beach and then also being ocean, front so we'll save
- 13:03Speaker 5: and save and, save and so we can stay at
- 13:05Speaker 5: a place WHERE i can see the ocean from whatever
- 13:08Speaker 5: place we're staying. At and the reason we like to
- 13:11Speaker 5: have a pool is when you have a twelve year
- 13:13Speaker 5: old the ocean after a, while he wants to vary
- 13:17Speaker 5: it up a little. Bit, plus there are red flag
- 13:20Speaker 5: days at the beach you can't go in the, water
- 13:23Speaker 5: and so if you don't have some sort of place
- 13:25Speaker 5: to play in it.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Could get bad not to mention those rip currents and.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Riptides you think you're one place and then next, thing you,
- 13:32Speaker 3: Know that's What i'm.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Saying when there's a red, flag you gotta go play.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Somewhere so having a pool is forth always down with
- 13:37Speaker 5: the red flag is all. About, yeah, oh the rip
- 13:40Speaker 5: currents and. RIPTIDES i had no idea the things you.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Learned that's what a red flag day is at the.
- 13:44Speaker 5: BEACH i didn't.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Know, yes is? It what's a perk or an amenity
- 13:49Speaker 4: that you think is worth the?
- 13:50Speaker 3: Expense definitely upgrading my seats on a long haul, flight
- 13:55Speaker 3: going to the next class. Up that's especially If i'm
- 13:58Speaker 3: flying across the country or like To hawaii or.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Something what was the last time you were able to
- 14:02Speaker 4: do that kind of?
- 14:03Speaker 6: Bump good, Question.
- 14:05Speaker 3: LONDON i was flying A Virgin atlantic AND i bumped
- 14:09Speaker 3: up out of the economy class to the business. Class
- 14:13Speaker 3: and business class on an international flight is like first.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Class it really is nice when you can make that.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Happen there's.
- 14:20Speaker 3: That and then the other thing THAT i love to
- 14:22Speaker 3: do too Is i'll bump my room. Up i'll ask
- 14:25Speaker 3: for the room. Upgrade, Fortunately i'm like a member of
- 14:28Speaker 3: Like hilton And. Merritt, okay so normally you can get
- 14:31Speaker 3: those for kind of free BECAUSE i have the.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Card oh that's.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Nice, no those are definitely worth it because then you
- 14:36Speaker 5: increase your comfort.
- 14:37Speaker 3: And there's nothing that screams vacationing like. Comfort anybody have
- 14:43Speaker 3: a perker amenity that they feel is so totally worth
- 14:47Speaker 3: splurging on when you go on. Vacation call us with
- 14:49Speaker 3: your thoughts right, now and let's talk. Vacation it's all
- 14:53Speaker 3: you ever. Wanted but there are vacation upgrades that you
- 14:58Speaker 3: will not skimp. On in, fact you'll slurge on them
