- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Wendy.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today's episode is a Listener
- 0:20Speaker 1: mailbag episode. If you would like to participate in future
- 0:23Speaker 1: Listener Mailbag episodes, the best way to do that is
- 0:26Speaker 1: by emailing us hello at Girlsgonehollmark dot com. Or you
- 0:31Speaker 1: can leave us a voicemail, oh, which reminds me they're
- 0:34Speaker 1: going to cancel it if we don't use it soon.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Oh, I read that email.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Our phone number is nine four nine three two nine
- 0:40Speaker 1: eight zero nine zero. It is a voicemail only number.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We would love to hear from you with your feedback.
- 0:46Speaker 1: We're talking about so much over here on Girls Gone
- 0:48Speaker 1: Homemark lately. Take your pick, Hope Valley. The Way Home
- 0:51Speaker 1: is coming soon. We can't wait to get into those
- 0:54Speaker 1: Listener Mailbag episodes, our PBS coverage, or perhaps you have
- 0:59Speaker 1: thoughts on the first email we're going to discuss. This
- 1:01Speaker 1: one has thrown us both for a loop. We don't
- 1:04Speaker 1: get a lot of hate comments around here, although there
- 1:07Speaker 1: was a comment on.
- 1:08Speaker 2: YouTube the other day. I have to read it to you.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Oh No, I have to read it to you.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Megan is gonna kick me while I'm down.
- 1:16Speaker 2: No, it wasn't about you, not anymore than it was about.
- 1:20Speaker 1: This is us, which is me by an extension. So
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know, I'm sure.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I know you don't want me to read it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: No, I'm dying to hear it. The commentary is extremely
- 1:32Speaker 1: in all caps, fatuous and superficial useless on an episode
- 1:36Speaker 1: of Missiletone Murders. That comment came in four days ago.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Well that just okay. That is going to lead me
- 1:43Speaker 1: into some additional comments. I have what is going to
- 1:45Speaker 1: come in this email? So would you like me to
- 1:47Speaker 1: read this email? Yeah? All right? This is an email
- 1:49Speaker 1: titled unsubscribing. I found you when you first started doing
- 1:52Speaker 1: Hallmark reviews on your prior podcast, and followed you to
- 1:55Speaker 1: your Homewark focused podcast because I enjoyed your reviews.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And your banter.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I gave you a five stargling review on the Apple
- 2:00Speaker 1: podcast app. But now I'm unsubscribing. Unfortunately I cannot take
- 2:04Speaker 1: the ads. I know you can fast forward through them,
- 2:06Speaker 1: but before one can hit that button, a loud, mild
- 2:09Speaker 1: voice is screaming at you to do online betting. I
- 2:12Speaker 1: also know that you have no control over the ads
- 2:14Speaker 1: that play, but you did choose the podcast network you
- 2:16Speaker 1: wanted to be a part of, and the ads they
- 2:18Speaker 1: offer are like over the top AM radio ads, trying
- 2:21Speaker 1: to grab your attention on topics that have no interest
- 2:24Speaker 1: to me. I would put up with it if the
- 2:26Speaker 1: content were still enjoyable.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But now use a knife to the heart right there, Helendi. Yeah,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but now you've spend most of.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The podcast reading list of actors' names and prior credits,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and the review itself is very short. So even hearing
- 2:37Speaker 1: those few seconds of how a Mandel yelling in my
- 2:39Speaker 1: ear is not worth it any longer. I have a
- 2:42Speaker 1: lot to say.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So do I.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You might be nicer than me, but.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Well, look, my feelings were hurt.
- 2:49Speaker 1: That's I'm a human. I cannot how I read this
- 2:51Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, that hurts my feelings. Yeah,
- 2:53Speaker 1: the special is no longer enjoyable, especially I know who
- 2:56Speaker 1: this person is. Yeah, it's not just like some internet
- 3:01Speaker 1: communicated They're part of our community from our long story
- 3:05Speaker 1: short with Megan and Windy days six years ago. No, look,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I'm just going to get it right out of the way.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I hate the betting ads too. Inside baseball, there are
- 3:14Speaker 1: ad categories that we can turn off. That's not one
- 3:16Speaker 1: of them, because further inside baseball, we do have a
- 3:20Speaker 1: lot of categories turned off. Yeah, for reference, the gambling
- 3:25Speaker 1: ads are one point five percent of our ads right now.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeck in the last thirty days.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Can we just explain the ad network stuff to just
- 3:34Speaker 1: a little bit too, after you tell them what kind
- 3:38Speaker 1: of ads we have blocked off? We can turn off
- 3:41Speaker 1: relate to pregnancy, sexuality, politics, and illegal content.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It's all off. We're not playing with that.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Does something sneak through, yes, And the only reason that
- 3:48Speaker 1: happens is the advertiser has categorized it incorrectly. And if
- 3:53Speaker 1: that happens, please let us know because we'll get into
- 3:56Speaker 1: action with our ad network to get that removed. I
- 4:00Speaker 1: don't like the gambling ads either. Please skip through ads
- 4:03Speaker 1: if you don't like them. That's what I want to say.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I listen to a lot of podcasts. It's what I
- 4:09Speaker 1: listen to a majority. I listen to our own podcasts.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want.
- 4:14Speaker 1: To listen to that ads either. I skip, skip, skip
- 4:16Speaker 1: right through them. And I know that's a hassle, but
- 4:19Speaker 1: also ads are what pays the bills around here, and
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm not going to apologize for making money for and
- 4:28Speaker 1: to be quite transparent, we're not paying our mortgages with
- 4:32Speaker 1: the money that we make.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Here Dare to Dream.
- 4:35Speaker 1: We pay to keep our website, website running, and are
- 4:39Speaker 1: hosting happening like we are barely taking home anything like
- 4:44Speaker 1: any fun money or anything that's going to.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and if we I'm not apologizing, exactly goes to
- 4:51Speaker 3: someone who is a doctor and I understand we're not
- 4:54Speaker 3: providing that service, but they're like, oh, you should maybe
- 4:56Speaker 3: not take a paycheck.
- 4:57Speaker 2: You should just do this so that the people can
- 4:59Speaker 2: enjoy it, right.
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know. And nobody's telling ABC, hey turn off the commercials, right,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know. There are things that you can do to
- 5:07Speaker 1: avoid commercials. But yeah, I'm not sorry for making money.
- 5:11Speaker 1: We of course want the experience to be pleasant. But
- 5:15Speaker 1: the network that we're in, the Spreaker ad platform that's
- 5:19Speaker 1: where our podcast is hosted, that's not a secret. They
- 5:23Speaker 1: source ads from all the same place as everyone else
- 5:25Speaker 1: is getting their dynamic ads from. Fortunately, do you want
- 5:28Speaker 1: to talk about the heavy news and notes section? Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I do want to talk about that, mostly because I
- 5:35Speaker 1: do a majority of it no, I'm not No, No,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I know us stray. Megan does all the editing. That's
- 5:41Speaker 1: just how we have. Yeah, Rendy writes that section because
- 5:44Speaker 1: she writes the show notes. Yeah, so the backstory on
- 5:48Speaker 1: that is years ago we got any email, a listener
- 5:51Speaker 1: email who was like, you guys aren't doing enough. You
- 5:54Speaker 1: don't know the details, you don't know the details. You're
- 5:57Speaker 1: not giving the actors, directors, et cetera, the respect that
- 6:00Speaker 1: they deserve for the project they have worked on the past, etc.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So we're like, Okay, let's do that. And for me
- 6:09Speaker 1: when I put the show notes together, when I am
- 6:12Speaker 1: pulling the content, which takes anywhere from like forty five
- 6:15Speaker 1: minutes to an hour to do, because I'm looking at
- 6:18Speaker 1: each actor, I'm looking at each of their resumes whatever.
- 6:21Speaker 1: If you listen to our foresights episodes, you know there
- 6:25Speaker 1: are fifty actors in that show. It's a lot of work.
- 6:29Speaker 2: With that said, I.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Do love seeing connections of oh, all these actors have
- 6:37Speaker 1: worked on this show together, or they've been in this,
- 6:40Speaker 1: or I have seen them in this, or I'm interested
- 6:42Speaker 1: in seeing then that I'm sorry that doesn't land for
- 6:44Speaker 1: some of our listeners, and maybe the news and notes,
- 6:48Speaker 1: or the cast details is too lengthy or too detailed,
- 6:52Speaker 1: then you are not interested in that stuff. Where do
- 6:54Speaker 1: you want to go from there? Well, I think there's
- 6:56Speaker 1: two things right. One, if you don't like it, skip
- 6:59Speaker 1: through it. Told like, I don't want to give too
- 7:01Speaker 1: much weight to one person.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Who's unhappy with you. Yeah, right, Like, if you don't
- 7:04Speaker 2: like it, we're not for everybody. Also, I am.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Interested in if that's a general consensus, because some people
- 7:10Speaker 1: are like, I love that. You guys talk about that,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and we have heard there's too much of that. But
- 7:15Speaker 1: we've also heard, oh, other podcasts don't do that at all. Yes,
- 7:20Speaker 1: So maybe there's a happy medium we are going to do.
- 7:23Speaker 1: We've never done it for Girls Gone hamewark a listener survey.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The link is in the show notes, so you can
- 7:30Speaker 1: pop right there. It's on Girlconhollmark dot com. We'll be
- 7:33Speaker 1: sharing it on Instagram. We want to hear from you.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It's fully anonymous. There's a bunch of questions you can
- 7:39Speaker 1: answer multiple choice. There's places for you to type in reactions.
- 7:42Speaker 1: If you're a listener, we'd love to hear from you
- 7:43Speaker 1: about what works for you, what doesn't, what you would
- 7:45Speaker 1: like change because we want to see some trends there.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's where we're going with this.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I love data, like let me, I'm I'm open
- 7:53Speaker 1: to feedback. You and I agree that her comment that
- 7:57Speaker 1: the content is no longer enjoyable cuts deep, cuts deep,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and that's okay. There's there's podcasts that I really loved
- 8:05Speaker 1: at one point and then don't listen to anymore. I
- 8:08Speaker 1: also didn't email them to tell them what I was unsubscribing.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Just you're free to go.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But in connection to the YouTube, to the YouTube comment
- 8:20Speaker 1: that you just read or earlier, this writer er tells
- 8:23Speaker 1: us that the reviews are very short, and I just
- 8:25Speaker 1: want to say, they are Hallmark movies.
- 8:26Speaker 2: They are one hour, and sometimes there's not a lot
- 8:29Speaker 2: to say. There's not a lot to say.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm not writing a dissertation on a Hallmark movie.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I don't know you milor Look, a lot of people
- 8:36Speaker 1: have said, like, I like the length of this podcast.
- 8:38Speaker 1: They don't want an hour long podcast. They like that
- 8:40Speaker 1: they're under thirty minutes. So look, we're not going to
- 8:42Speaker 1: please everybody. But I also don't want to just steal
- 8:45Speaker 1: time when it's like there was one and done, Like,
- 8:47Speaker 1: there's not a whole lot to say.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, So anyway, I mean, like I said, I do
- 8:55Speaker 1: appreciate constructive criticism and feedback. Yeah, but also I'm human,
- 9:02Speaker 1: like you said, and my feelings are hurt so too. Also,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I would just like to add before we move on,
- 9:07Speaker 1: the last listener mail bag we did. We got an
- 9:10Speaker 1: email from Steve who kind of laid into us too,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and I was like, mail Man Steve, I would just
- 9:14Speaker 1: like to justice for mail Man Steve. Correction corner, Steve
- 9:18Speaker 1: did reach out, he did. Mail Man Steve did not
- 9:21Speaker 1: write that email.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Steve number two did.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Mail Man Steve says he's he's writer or die for.
- 9:28Speaker 1: So thank you, mail man Steve. Yeah, apologies for besmirching
- 9:32Speaker 1: your good name. Well, let's move on because the rest
- 9:34Speaker 1: of these are largely positive, okay. Our first emails from
- 9:37Speaker 1: Sharon regarding the most recent Jen Lily movie a royal setting,
- 9:42Speaker 1: She writes, I just watched the new Jen Lily movie.
- 9:45Speaker 1: She was never a favorite of mine when she initially
- 9:48Speaker 1: was with Hallmark, particularly after she left following the Pied
- 9:52Speaker 1: Piper CCB. The movie was okay, but seemed rush though
- 9:57Speaker 1: I did enjoy the Steadfast Guard George comm up Fred's performance.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm happy for her fans though, who must be thrilled
- 10:04Speaker 1: to have her back. I think her fans are really
- 10:09Speaker 1: thrilled to have her back. Those that love her were
- 10:12Speaker 1: real excited to see this movie come out. Yeah, I
- 10:14Speaker 1: mean it seemed like that on Instagram. People were really
- 10:17Speaker 1: excited to have Jen Lilly back. And I'm going to
- 10:20Speaker 1: repeat what I said here in our review of that movie.
- 10:23Speaker 1: If this was Jen Lily's big return to Hallmark, I
- 10:26Speaker 1: think she deserved a better movie. Yeah, I guess I'm
- 10:30Speaker 1: not that surprised. I would just like to acknowledge Jen
- 10:35Speaker 1: Lily was in our comments on Instagram on our First
- 10:39Speaker 1: Impressions post last Saturday night when when this episode aired,
- 10:43Speaker 1: and we're looking for fan engagement.
- 10:45Speaker 2: We want to know your.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Thoughts on the movies, like as the movie airs. She
- 10:49Speaker 1: was truly interested too, That's what the comments said, that
- 10:51Speaker 1: she wanted to hear from fans too.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So all right.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Next up, we have an email from Paula regarding the Foresights.
- 10:58Speaker 1: She starts off by saying, I love both the Foresights
- 11:00Speaker 1: and your review. I do think Wendy should watch Downton Abbey.
- 11:03Speaker 2: But there are a lot of.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Differences, the main one being that the Crawleys, that's the
- 11:07Speaker 1: downtoonn Abbey family, are part of the nobility. The Foresights
- 11:11Speaker 1: are businessmen. They build their own fortunes. They don't have
- 11:13Speaker 1: big est dates. Also, Downtown Abbey starts in nineteen twelve,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the Foresights in the eighteen seventies. I believe you'll recall
- 11:20Speaker 1: that automobiles have a big part in the happenings at
- 11:22Speaker 1: Downton Abbey. The Foresights is closer to the Gilded Age.
- 11:25Speaker 1: They both take place at the same time period and
- 11:28Speaker 1: are both about businessmen and their family. The Gilded Age
- 11:31Speaker 1: is in New York City. I think maybe the guilded
- 11:33Speaker 1: Age is more my jam poor perhaps. Also, I did
- 11:38Speaker 1: see a comment from listener Michelle who said that I
- 11:43Speaker 1: might enjoy Bridgerton as well. I mean, if you want spice,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you're gonna get it with Bridgerton, I get it. I
- 11:50Speaker 1: also like good storytelling. I think it is that I
- 11:53Speaker 1: only watch she's in one of Bridgerton. Maybe I need
- 11:56Speaker 1: to watch the Gilded Age after we're done watching The Foresight.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But maybe that's gonna you know, so off topic here,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but I texted Meghan over the weekend. If you don't know,
- 12:08Speaker 1: Meghan's a huge the West Wing fan, Aaron Sorkin fan,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and Aaron Sorkin fan. And I started the show the
- 12:14Speaker 1: Newsroom over the weekend and I did not realize it
- 12:17Speaker 1: was an Aaron sworkin project until I saw his name
- 12:19Speaker 1: on the screen and I was like, oh, I'm sure
- 12:22Speaker 1: Megan's watch this. And I texted you and I was like,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I think this could lean down to the room.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Like that writing style.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I love that dense dialogue.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I think you should give the West Wing a chance.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But after the Newsroom, the Newsroom's great. The next bit
- 12:39Speaker 1: of this email from Paula discusses what the foresights do,
- 12:43Speaker 1: because we were like.
- 12:44Speaker 2: What the heck is their job?
- 12:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so Paula roal smart. She says, it looks like
- 12:49Speaker 1: the foresights run a trust. They manage their client's wealth.
- 12:53Speaker 1: They take positions in their name and their own.
- 12:56Speaker 2: This is different than.
- 12:58Speaker 1: A broker, actually a registered presentative of a broker who
- 13:01Speaker 1: just executes trade. The actual brokers work on the exchange floor.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So they're like, fye, I don't know, I don't really
- 13:09Speaker 1: understand what happens inside the stock exchange. What Solmes did
- 13:13Speaker 1: was use his inside information not illegal back then, to
- 13:17Speaker 1: sell all their stock and then go short and profit
- 13:20Speaker 1: from the news. The news comes out the stock's plummet
- 13:23Speaker 1: because of no buyers. Julian wanted to support the stock
- 13:26Speaker 1: and wait out the panic because it was still a
- 13:28Speaker 1: good stock. Irene and her mother lost everything because of Solmes.
- 13:32Speaker 1: He's not a hallmark bad guy. He's a really bad guy. Okay,
- 13:37Speaker 1: So then this leads me back, is he truly in
- 13:40Speaker 1: love with Irene? Or is he feel bad? Yeah?
- 13:43Speaker 2: It was his motivation and motivation there.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah, don't you love that bit from Paula. Yeah, Paula
- 13:50Speaker 1: always gives me a hard time about like the Bad Boys,
- 13:53Speaker 1: because I always liked.
- 13:54Speaker 2: The Bad Boys.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Our next emails from Jamie and is regarding the Count
- 13:58Speaker 1: of Monte Cristore. Good morning, regarding the Count of Monte Cristo.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I have read the book and watched the movie with
- 14:06Speaker 1: Jim Cavisil and Jim Cavizil has a brother named Tim Cavizil.
- 14:10Speaker 1: He's a friend of a friend of my husband's. Really
- 14:13Speaker 1: not twins.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Not Tim and Jim They're just brothers.
- 14:16Speaker 1: They're just brothers. Interesting. Also in that movie was a
- 14:19Speaker 1: young Henry Cavill Cavill Cavill Cavil, and I really didn't
- 14:23Speaker 1: think I needed another version of the same story. But Tuesday,
- 14:27Speaker 1: I was working on a boring project at work, so
- 14:29Speaker 1: I turned on episode one so I could follow along
- 14:32Speaker 1: with your podcast. Side note, thanks for listening, even though
- 14:35Speaker 1: you weren't going to watch the show. I thoroughly enjoyed
- 14:39Speaker 1: the PBS version and your recap. Can't wait to watch
- 14:43Speaker 1: or hear more. You know. I got to say in
- 14:46Speaker 1: these foresights encount of Monte Cristo reviews, I was really
- 14:49Speaker 1: worried because.
- 14:53Speaker 2: This is a fun podcast.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We talk about Hallmark movies, and I was like, do
- 14:56Speaker 1: I have it in me to talk about something with
- 14:58Speaker 1: more substance. I'm really proud of those reviews. I think
- 15:01Speaker 1: they're coming out great. Me too. And I can't help
- 15:04Speaker 1: but think back to when we reviewed Ripple, and I
- 15:07Speaker 1: remember crafting my notes for Ripple. Ripple was originally a
- 15:10Speaker 1: Hallmark series that then moved to Netflix, and every week
- 15:14Speaker 1: I struggled a little bit because I was like, what
- 15:17Speaker 1: more can I say other than I like this series.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It was deeper. It was more complicated than the regular Hallwark.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Reviews we did.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But moving onto the Count of Monte Cristo and the foresights,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I am proud too. I'm really interested in the stories
- 15:35Speaker 1: and how we're talking about them too. Jamie goes on
- 15:40Speaker 1: to write regarding two for Tea also being a delight.
- 15:45Speaker 1: My one thought that you didn't mention when Tea overslept
- 15:48Speaker 1: and her cousin called her, he didn't overreact or get
- 15:51Speaker 1: mad at her. He fibbed and told her the shop
- 15:53Speaker 1: was slow and to do what she needed. I love that.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I do remember that scene, and I thought that was
- 15:59Speaker 1: very cute.
- 15:59Speaker 2: He's like, no, it's not at all. There's a ton
- 16:00Speaker 2: of people behind them. That's nice, very cute.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Finally, this is way overdue, but you asked when reviewing
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, what other older Hallmark
- 16:10Speaker 1: movies you should consider this past holiday. I inadvertently recorded
- 16:14Speaker 1: November Christmas from twenty ten, and since it stars Sam Elliott,
- 16:18Speaker 1: I figured I would watch it. It isn't anything like
- 16:21Speaker 1: the current Hallmark Christmas movies we have now, but more
- 16:25Speaker 1: like the Hall of Fame movies, and I quite enjoyed it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Do you have something to say about Hallmark Hall of
- 16:31Speaker 1: Fame and Christmas in July? I do every summer. I
- 16:34Speaker 1: try to come up with a theme. Yeah, sign seal delivered,
- 16:39Speaker 1: Summer Mystery, Summer. Previous summers, we would like record ahead
- 16:44Speaker 1: or maybe not always do the Hallmark Weekly movie just
- 16:47Speaker 1: based on schedules. I think last year maybe we did both.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I think so.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But this summer I was like, what are we gonna do?
- 16:53Speaker 1: What are we gonna do Christmas in July? I think
- 16:55Speaker 1: we should do Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movies. I'm
- 16:58Speaker 1: into it, and I think November Christmas should make the list.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Thank you Jamie for their recommendation. He has been loved
- 17:04Speaker 1: Sam Elliott, so he'll probably even watch it. We love
- 17:06Speaker 1: Sam Elliott too to love. Next up is an email
- 17:10Speaker 1: from Jennifer. It's a mixed bag of comments. She says,
- 17:13Speaker 1: are you nervous? Yes? Oh? Why?
- 17:16Speaker 2: The like no, no, big you.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Is subject matter. I'm not sure the rest of these
- 17:21Speaker 1: are bad. None of the rest of these are bod
- 17:23Speaker 1: Oh this is a long one. Yeah, she says, first
- 17:25Speaker 1: of all, two for Tea. I really enjoyed it.
- 17:27Speaker 2: It was sweet.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I love that they're both attracted to each other and
- 17:29Speaker 1: acted on it instead of them just finding reasons to
- 17:31Speaker 1: be together, they actually went on a date, though I
- 17:34Speaker 1: do wish he had been upfront about being a divorced
- 17:35Speaker 1: single dad when asked how he would describe himself.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I agree.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I did like that after that, which was fairly quickly
- 17:42Speaker 1: taking care of. Most of the drama came from keeping
- 17:44Speaker 1: the center open, not their relationship.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I also liked that the.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Ex wife was around a nice person and not demon
- 17:49Speaker 1: I as were being career oriented, demonstrated by her still
- 17:52Speaker 1: being in her child's life and not away. I'm not Chinese,
- 17:55Speaker 1: but I really like that element of the story and
- 17:57Speaker 1: hope we continue to see more explorations of people's different
- 18:00Speaker 1: immigrant and cultural stories in Hallmark movies. Side note, we
- 18:05Speaker 1: did not get the blowback for me saying that I
- 18:08Speaker 1: got the ick about Chris McNally being like whatever, I
- 18:10Speaker 1: just I just flib buy and see in my pants.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Cool dude.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 1: On the foreside, Jennifer says I came to this completely clean,
- 18:18Speaker 1: just knowing it was based on books the general time
- 18:21Speaker 1: period and that it was an intergenerational story and had
- 18:23Speaker 1: been adapted before.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I'm enjoying it.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I love explorations of ruthlessness, ambition, and class. I had
- 18:30Speaker 1: a Samantha American Girl dolls, so I have long loved
- 18:33Speaker 1: this time period. Honestly, reading your description of the series
- 18:36Speaker 1: story on the website after the episode made me even
- 18:39Speaker 1: more excited, especially since I thought the meeting between Solmes
- 18:43Speaker 1: and Irene was reminiscent of Marius and Cosette meeting in
- 18:47Speaker 1: Le Miz. But I'm glad to hear it's not that
- 18:49Speaker 1: story at all, and looking forward to seeing how everything
- 18:52Speaker 1: plays out. And I think the books will go on
- 18:54Speaker 1: my TBR after Paris is always a good idea, and
- 18:57Speaker 1: the count of Monte Cristo taste makers out here when okay, yeah, hey,
- 19:06Speaker 1: don't knock our book club, I'm not Can we talk
- 19:09Speaker 1: about the book club after we finished this reading this
- 19:11Speaker 1: email to you?
- 19:12Speaker 2: Okay? Finally, she says.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Also, I was recently on Hallmarks YouTube page and saw
- 19:15Speaker 1: that they had an official podcast for When Calls the Heart.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Do you think this is any chance they will do
- 19:19Speaker 1: this for The Way Home? Your podcast episodes will obviously
- 19:23Speaker 1: be better, but it would be nice to get some
- 19:25Speaker 1: interviews with the creators of the show and actors, which
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm guessing is.
- 19:28Speaker 2: What the official podcast really is. Hmmm, so we did
- 19:32Speaker 2: a little digging.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The way When Calls the Heart has an after show
- 19:37Speaker 1: on YouTube which is official interviews, like live in person
- 19:41Speaker 1: shot on a set with the cast and crew.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Will they do this with The Way Home?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Honestly, given the last season and they're done, I doubt it.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I don't know what their motivation would be at this point,
- 19:52Speaker 1: but we would.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Be happy to do interviews with cast and crew.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Last year we had really hard time. They weren't giving
- 19:58Speaker 1: us access to n anybody. No, So maybe they're like
- 20:02Speaker 1: that that's over. What could they possibly do? They might now, Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 1: we'll try. We'll definitely try. I mean to be quite honest,
- 20:10Speaker 1: I I interviews are so hard because I just like
- 20:14Speaker 1: fangirl and I just want to like sit there and
- 20:16Speaker 1: listen to them and observe and like Megan does most
- 20:19Speaker 1: of the work, and also like I just get very nervous,
- 20:25Speaker 1: same same I swept through the entire thing.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I just want to be like.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Professional, but also like I'm also sitting at the kitchen
- 20:36Speaker 1: table casual, you know what I mean, I don't I
- 20:40Speaker 1: want to show them the respect as like for their craft,
- 20:43Speaker 1: but also I you know, I'm just gets nervous, sure
- 20:47Speaker 1: gonna be like, look, who are these bozos? You know?
- 20:51Speaker 1: So therefore I just kind of like when you see
- 20:54Speaker 1: Megan doing like jumping on press junkets, it's because I
- 20:59Speaker 1: don't want to two reasons. They're always like, well, whnny
- 21:05Speaker 1: be there too, I'm like, just me. But also we're
- 21:07Speaker 1: not together all the time, so no, no.
- 21:12Speaker 2: We are not.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Okay, you said you wanted to return to the talk
- 21:15Speaker 1: of our book club.
- 21:16Speaker 2: At the end of this email.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yes, so give us an update on book club. So
- 21:21Speaker 1: the book club the Facebook group has launched. If you
- 21:24Speaker 1: are on the email list, you've already received an email
- 21:28Speaker 1: actually too, with a link to the Facebook group as
- 21:31Speaker 1: well as.
- 21:31Speaker 2: The discussion schedule.
- 21:33Speaker 1: The discussions will be asynchronous, which means they'll be posted
- 21:36Speaker 1: in the group. If you're not available that day, it's okay,
- 21:39Speaker 1: just pop in when you are available. And we are
- 21:43Speaker 1: working on adding some fun additional things to that group
- 21:46Speaker 1: behind the scenes, so if you want in, we will
- 21:52Speaker 1: put a link to joining the book club in the
- 21:53Speaker 1: show notes. There's still time to join. We are reading.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Paris is always a good idea by Jen McKinley that
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's book that's being adapted into a series starring Lacy
- 22:03Speaker 1: Saber currently filming. Currently filming, so you can read the
- 22:06Speaker 1: book along with us. We don't know exactly when that
- 22:09Speaker 1: show airs, but our book discussions all take place during
- 22:11Speaker 1: the month of April, so I think it's a good
- 22:14Speaker 1: guess to say that our book club will conclude before Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I imagine maybe June. Ooh, that's a quick turnaround for them.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I was thinking like more early fall for Hallmark. Plus,
- 22:30Speaker 1: maybe it's just such a rush going into count down
- 22:32Speaker 1: to Christmas. I feel like it's gonna be a summer
- 22:34Speaker 1: series after the Way Home. Ooh maybe, I don't know, Chelsee,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it. Yeah. Our next emails from Sherry,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and it's the subject says regarding glasses. I just had
- 22:46Speaker 1: to include this because this is why I love our listeners,
- 22:49Speaker 1: she writes. I hope I'm not being nosy and this
- 22:52Speaker 1: has nothing to do with Hallmark. Quick word of advice
- 22:55Speaker 1: on your review of Nelly Knows, one of you mentioned
- 22:58Speaker 1: problems you're having.
- 22:59Speaker 2: With your glass.
- 23:00Speaker 1: It's me. I was megan about ten years ago in
- 23:03Speaker 1: my mid forties. I changed from single vision lenses to tryfocals.
- 23:08Speaker 1: There for close up, at long distance and mid range,
- 23:12Speaker 1: which is perfect for computer screens or music. They were
- 23:16Speaker 1: great for me, and I just died quickly to them.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I just tilted my head a little to use the
- 23:20Speaker 1: part of the lens I need. After a couple of days,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I just did that automatically. Sorry to divert from Hallmark,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but this is why you enjoy your podcast. You're not
- 23:28Speaker 1: afraid to talk about real life issues. I'm a bit
- 23:30Speaker 1: older than you guys, but can relate to your conversations
- 23:33Speaker 1: and boop and viewpoints. Keep up the good work. Great work. Sorry,
- 23:37Speaker 1: keep up the great work. I do think I need bifocals.
- 23:40Speaker 1: By the way, I need to go back to the
- 23:42Speaker 1: I doctor. I think I do too, to be honest. Yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm having a hard time driving at night and then
- 23:49Speaker 1: looking like at the you know, instrument panel in front
- 23:52Speaker 1: and then going back.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Terrible. Yeah, no, it really sucks. Think you share. Hey,
- 24:01Speaker 1: we have an email from said, we have an email
- 24:03Speaker 1: from Selaste. We're gonna wrap it up with this. She
- 24:06Speaker 1: has some homemark Hall of Fame suggestions. She says, First,
- 24:09Speaker 1: I've been a longtime listener and love the podcast. I
- 24:12Speaker 1: just finished listening to Hallmark Hall of Fame, followed the
- 24:14Speaker 1: Stars Home episode from yesterday. Yes, this email has been
- 24:18Speaker 1: sitting in the inbox for a little bit. You were
- 24:19Speaker 1: asking for other Hall of Fame recommendations.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Here are some.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Loving Leah one of the first and favorite movie I've watched.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Love how they explore religion, family, and love some She's

- 24:34Speaker 1: Did a lot of recommendations for this one.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I know Wendy was like, but so many people have recommended.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I think we need to do it.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Okay, Christmas with Holly Christmas and July ding Ding ding
- 24:45Speaker 1: YEP a classic rewatch for me every year. The story
- 24:48Speaker 1: is amazing with the brothers and their niece. The love
- 24:50Speaker 1: story is a bonus. Great casting in Eloise Mumford, Sean Ferris,
- 24:55Speaker 1: the two brothers, and especially the child actor played by sisters.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Well one, I can't go wrong with Eloie's mom. Third,
- 25:02Speaker 1: and I like this shout out to the child actor
- 25:06Speaker 1: played by his sisters because you know I don't love children. Okay.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Front of the Class based on a true story of
- 25:13Speaker 1: how he defies the odds to become a teacher despite
- 25:15Speaker 1: having Tourette syndrome. Great acting, casting and flashbacks. You will
- 25:19Speaker 1: see some familiar faces as well. The Lost Valentine a
- 25:24Speaker 1: heartfelt movie with a great story, amazing and accurate flashbacks
- 25:27Speaker 1: for World War Two. Great casting with Betty White and
- 25:30Speaker 1: Jennifer love Hewitt. Jennifer love Hewitt, I love her beyond
- 25:35Speaker 1: the Blackboard and as smile as big as a moon.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Both of those do not have additional commentary. Yeah. Those
- 25:40Speaker 1: Hall of Fame movies were spectacular. Yes, and I'm excited
- 25:44Speaker 1: about doing the holiday ones for christy Tis in July.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Me too, So you have that to look forward to, folks. Yeah,

- 26:39Speaker 1: s neck, hit the skip button, or maybe just maybe
