- 0:04Hey everybody. Welcome back to the space news
- 0:06pod. This is a show about SpaceX NASA
- 0:08and space flight. I'm your host will Walden.
- 0:10And on this episode, we're going to be talking about Starship,
- 0:13we're going to be talking about Starship daily, we're going to
- 0:16be talking about all sorts of fun stuff regarding SpaceX
- 0:21Starbase Starship, Elon Musk Jeff Bezos and how elon's pretty
- 0:26rich. So let's get into the meat of
- 0:29the subject. Right here.
- 0:30Okay, so Starbase I've been going there.
- 0:32Every day started a new channel called star, ship daily,
- 0:37youtube.com slash Starship daily.
- 0:40We're almost at 1000 subscribers.
- 0:42So if you could do me a huge, huge favor and be greatly
- 0:46appreciative. If you go over there,
- 0:48youtube.com slash Starship daily subscribe.
- 0:50It's raw footage of Starship every single day that I'm able
- 0:55to get down there. But today the weather is just
- 0:57horrible. So I'm not sure if I'll be able
- 0:59to get down, Today. So if I can, I will but it's
- 1:03been raining looking out my window right now.
- 1:04It's pouring rain right now and we're supposed to be, there's
- 1:07some flood watches and stuff like that around Starbase.
- 1:10So got to be safe. Don't want to go down there get
- 1:13stranded. Also, don't want to go down
- 1:15there and not be able to get down there.
- 1:18You know what I'm saying? Because maybe the, the roads are
- 1:21flooded or washed out or something, and it's happened
- 1:24before. The roads have been flooded
- 1:26yesterday. They were very flooded in a
- 1:29couple spots. So, it's got to be careful out
- 1:31there, so if I can get there today.
- 1:32Cool, if not, we'll go tomorrow, but Starship daily.
- 1:36Check that out. Now, what we're really talking
- 1:39about here, this is the meat and potatoes of everything when will
- 1:42Starship launch SpaceX has a ton of work to do on Starships till
- 1:47we saw that the that cryo test from the other night was
- 1:50successful. They did a pressure test the
- 1:53other day, to Blue some tiles off the nose of Starship and I
- 1:58have some footage of that. Starship deal.
- 2:00If you want to check that out of the area where it was blown out,
- 2:05also, they have, they still have to do the QT arm, they still
- 2:10have to put together everything on the booster.
- 2:13You know, make sure everything on the booster works.
- 2:15They have to do static fires. They have a ton of work to do
- 2:18but it's been postponed by the FAA.
- 2:23The launch has been postponed by the f.a.a. and let's get into
- 2:28that a tiny bit here. Then we'll go forward with like
- 2:31what's going to be happening. Next, I want to show you this
- 2:33tweet from Michael Baylor because Michael is a reputable
- 2:40Source been around for a long time knows what's going on
- 2:43knows, what will probably happen, considering what's
- 2:47happened in the past. So Eric Burger, I got the email
- 2:51to from the FAA saying, hey, we're going to wait till
- 2:55November 1st this show is brought to you by backblaze.

- 4:50a free 15 day trial no credit card required go there sign up I
- 4:55you with it it's really powerful in is really easy to use so go
- 4:59to back plays Dot /I Elan back place.com, slash Ilan
- 5:04backblaze.com Ilan to gather all the public comments for the
- 5:12SpaceX Starship program. The super-heavy launch program
- 5:17at Boca Chica, for November for a so virtual hearings have been
- 5:21moved to October 18th in October 20th, at 5 p.m.
- 5:26CT. So that means we have about
- 5:29another month. Month before anything is stable
- 5:35as far as the public opinion goes, right?
- 5:37So like everybody probably flooded the comments because
- 5:42Elon tweeted please show your support basically and Ilan has
- 5:46millions of followers. So when Ilan says something, if
- 5:50he has me, you know, tens of millions of followers and that
- 5:54gets picked up by news, outlets gets picked up by other places.
- 5:58Tweet it all over the place. Did heart everything.
- 6:01So millions of people probably spoke up and said we want this
- 6:05Starship to launch. So, how long is it going to take
- 6:07the FAA? A federal government agency to
- 6:13go through millions of those emails.
- 6:16It's not just a yes, or no people can write in their
- 6:18comments. So, there could be people that
- 6:20write paragraphs have pages and pages of things to them, right.
- 6:24So they could write so much in the FAA has to go through every
- 6:29single one of those. They have to say yes or no to
- 6:31every single one of those. They have to write it down.
- 6:33They have to make sure that everybody has all the
- 6:35information. To know that SpaceX is going to
- 6:40launch or not launch due to the FAA and due to the public
- 6:44opinion. So, Michael Baylor, let's get
- 6:46back to this tweet. The FAA will not be ready to
- 6:49support a Starship orbital launch in 2021, but the odds of
- 6:53SpaceX being ready in 2021 from a technical standpoint are also
- 6:58slipping still a lot of work to go.
- 7:01I go down there every day. I see how hard those people work
- 7:05without those people. For making those machines, that
- 7:08will eventually make the machines that make the machines
- 7:11that make the Starships. We wouldn't have this program,
- 7:15so those people are super important and I want to document
- 7:17that stuff, but it's a lot of work.
- 7:21You can see some stuff happening, you know, like the
- 7:23big events, like a cryo test on a Starship.
- 7:26That's a huge event. But also that's a tiny piece of
- 7:31all the other tiny pieces that get put together to build a
- 7:35Starship to build that platform to launch a Starship, super
- 7:39heavy to orbit. Okay.
- 7:41So Michael says SpaceX being ready in 2021 from a technical
- 7:48standpoint or also slipping, so we might not see Starship even
- 7:53ready by the end of this year. And I really hope they are.
- 7:57I really, really do? I really hope they are ready,
- 8:00but it's, it is totally possible that they're not ready by the
- 8:03end of 2020 one, and that's totally fine.
- 8:05Let him get everything perfectly.
- 8:07Well, figured out situated for the first one.
- 8:10The first one is always the weirdest one, right?
- 8:12So like, the first launch is always kind of weird.
- 8:15Second, one gets better. Third one gets better.
- 8:17Fourth, fifth, Etc. They keep growing.
- 8:19Look at Falcon 9. I mean, right now it's almost
- 8:23perfect. Every launch and Landing So
- 8:26that's what's going to happen with Starship eventually.
- 8:28So the first one is going to be weird and Michael Baylor.
- 8:31Basically put it out there like hey maybe this isn't going to be
- 8:34happening at the end of this year.
- 8:36Dominic D, been dinelli 7 on Twitter said, what is the
- 8:41timeframe for FAA to review public comments?
- 8:44This is important, too. Because Michael Baylor tweeted
- 8:48about this. This is, this is a really great
- 8:50tweet. Treats, tweet storm.
- 8:53I should say from Michael. Michael says, it will take the
- 8:57several months to consider the public comments.
- 9:01Once the public comment period ends then the FAA will have to
- 9:04publish the final drafted decision, then the FAA can
- 9:07finish up in a ward, the launch license.
- 9:09It's a long process. So, several months could be two
- 9:12to three months. So November ends Or November 1st
- 9:18is when this thing is happening according to this November
- 9:21first. The virtual hearings also, but
- 9:25November 1st December. So that's one month.
- 9:29January February, probably in February for the final outcome
- 9:34from the FAA with the public opinion.
- 9:39So Michael is probably right. I don't like this either.
- 9:44Like there's something there. Tons of comments down here.
- 9:46And tons of tons of tweets, tweet replies, but Michaels
- 9:51probably right, probably early next year, you know,
- 9:54january-february, if they go through it.
- 9:57Like I was saying before, there's some people that write
- 9:59pages and pages of stuff for this, as people that write in
- 10:03that the say yes launch it you know something like that or go
- 10:06SpaceX, you know and what is go SpaceX mean.
- 10:09Now the FAA has to take that into consideration.
- 10:12So who knows, who knows what people wrote in so the Fe has to
- 10:17go through everybody's comments. And then they have to see if you
- 10:22know they have to put them in a yes or no checkbox so might be
- 10:25next I might be next year guys. So unfortunately, that's you
- 10:29know not a good thing but I'm glad you stuck around with me
- 10:34this long because we have a few more things to talk about.
- 10:37There was a road closure this morning for Starship down to
- 10:41Starbase and that was between early morning till till midday
- 10:46that's over. Now it's about 1:00 here but
- 10:48there's other Road closures happening next week, Friday.
- 10:52October 1st that's today, 6 a.m. to noon and then Monday between
- 10:575:00 and midnight, 5 p.m. to midnight.
- 11:00So this weekend I'll be down there shooting photos and video
- 11:03for Starship daily and I'll bring that to you as much as I
- 11:06can. So here's another thing, real
- 11:08quick way to get to this real quick because I think it's
- 11:10funny. We always have to have a good
- 11:12time, right? Like that's the, that's the
- 11:14point of all of this stuff. We're all fans of space travel.
- 11:17We're all fans of space exploration, but also People are
- 11:20involved and people make these things so Elon Musk.
- 11:24Eclipse, the 200 billion dollars to become the richest person in
- 11:28the world again. Yeah, Elon Musk became the third
- 11:33person to ever be worth 200 billion dollars on Monday
- 11:37writing a surging Tesla stock then.
- 11:39In turn made him the richest person in the world.
- 11:41In this is from rises from Forbes, Kendrick Chi from
- 11:46forbes.com, so Elon richest person in the world writing that
- 11:52test the wave up. Get that money Ilan, because
- 11:56then you can invest it in other things like space travel.
- 12:00Now, you Ilan also, Ilan says he's sending Jeff Bezos.
- 12:04A silver medal in a giant statue of the number two, after
- 12:08surpassing him again, to become the world's richest person, this
- 12:12is from Business Insider. How funny is that elon's just
- 12:16the master Troll and we all know it and we all think it's kind of
- 12:19funny. So that's about all we have
- 12:22today, guys. You Lanza troll.
- 12:24We all know and it's awesome. So thanks for watching.
- 12:27I appreciate it. Leave me a comment below.
- 12:30Let me You know what you think about the comments in the FAA?
- 12:33Lagging on getting SpaceX to orbit.
- 12:36Thanks guys. Bye bye.
