- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome to Brief Recess. I'm Michael Foote.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm Melissa Malbranche.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Today we're going to talk about sexy Mr. Rogers Halloween costume.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We're going to talk about all the crazy veneers and
- 0:15Speaker 1: plastic surgery we could find. We're going to talk about
- 0:18Speaker 1: smoking on planes, the French protests, and crazy Halloween, super
- 0:23Speaker 1: wild Halloween episode lawsuits. So stick around.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Ah! Ah!
- 0:39Speaker 1: You guys.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Carrie.
- 0:42Speaker 1: No. Who are you? I'm the flight attendant Selma Blair bit.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I got a bite mark.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't see the bite mark.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Don't I wear a wig well?
- 0:59Speaker 2: You do wear a wig well.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Pull it off. And I styled it myself. I haven't
- 1:04Speaker 1: styled hair in a few years. It's been like 12 years.
- 1:08Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 1:09Speaker 2: All right. So here's what happened to me, friends.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Where's your costume? This is our Halloween episode.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I made a costume. I made it myself.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:19Speaker 2: I did. I made it myself.
- 1:21Speaker 1: How do women navigate life with getting hair in their
- 1:23Speaker 1: mouth all the time?
- 1:25Speaker 2: You just get used to it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You just get used to it. You're just always munching
- 1:27Speaker 1: on hair.
- 1:28Speaker 2: You just like cough it up hairballs like cats.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Sorry. I digress. I interrupted you. Thank you.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I made a costume. And it was cute. So
- 1:40Speaker 2: cute and clever. I was going to be raining cats
- 1:44Speaker 2: and dogs.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That's really smart.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And I had a big queer umbrella. And last night,
- 1:55Speaker 2: I was hot gluing ceramic cats and dogs to a
- 2:01Speaker 2: clear umbrella. I was hanging them on fish wire. I
- 2:06Speaker 2: got a yellow raincoat, hat, and boots.
- 2:09Speaker 1: This is a Martha Stewart special.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And I... I completely misjudged the time that we were
- 2:16Speaker 2: going to do this. I'm wearing the same outfit. Like,
- 2:20Speaker 2: none of this is planned. I'm going to take a
- 2:23Speaker 2: picture and I'm going to give it to CJ. And
- 2:25Speaker 2: we're going to throw up a picture of me looking
- 2:28Speaker 2: clever and fucking adorable.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really smart costume. And it's very crafty, too,
- 2:34Speaker 1: because it's like.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'm crafty.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you're very crafty.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I'm not very crafty.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But, like, I wouldn't have thought of that.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So now this is a facsimile.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Bitch, your mic is over here. Move closer.
- 2:46Speaker 2: This is a facsimile.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Looking away from the mic.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Of what my costume was supposed to be like. But
- 2:51Speaker 2: picture it. cute me being cute i just can't i'm
- 2:55Speaker 2: just clever and not like this i can do better
- 3:01Speaker 2: than this.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Just imagining the email that iheart got about urgently printing
- 3:05Speaker 1: out cats and getting us an umbrella like i know
- 3:08Speaker 1: that there's someone at iheart right now who's like these
- 3:11Speaker 1: fucking the exactly right team is always sending us the
- 3:14Speaker 1: weirdest requests i'm sorry i did come prepared he did
- 3:18Speaker 1: And shout out to the Halloween store on Broadway and 12th.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's been there forever. You know the one I'm talking about?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Right by Strand. They're the best. They said, honey.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Oh, that big giant place?
- 3:27Speaker 1: They were going to close during COVID. They never closed. Honey,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm keeping them in business.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Buying Sabrina wigs. It's really hard. It's really itchy. Anyway,
- 3:36Speaker 1: welcome to Brief Recess. I'm Michael Futt. I'm lame.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm lame.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Today we're going to talk about all sorts of fun stuff.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's our Halloween episode. I feel like we didn't do
- 3:50Speaker 1: a Halloween episode last year because we had just started.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we had just started.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And people would be like... Who cares?
- 3:54Speaker 2: I mean, maybe they don't care.
- 3:56Speaker 1: They're still like, who cares?
- 3:58Speaker 2: I'm imagining the comments under this episode. What the hell
- 4:03Speaker 2: happened to Melissa? Why has she got the same outfit on?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Have you ever had a crazy Halloween experience in your
- 4:10Speaker 1: years of life? Have you ever gone through it on Halloween?
- 4:13Speaker 2: No.
- 4:14Speaker 1: There's never like.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Like what?
- 4:16Speaker 1: I know. Halloween's always really fun, but I don't have
- 4:19Speaker 1: like a Mike Myers kind of Halloween story. No.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Why would you?
- 4:22Speaker 1: And I don't have like any... Even like the crazy
- 4:24Speaker 1: things that I've, you know, done parties we go to.
- 4:27Speaker 1: There's still crazier things that happen throughout the year. It's
- 4:30Speaker 1: just we're all in costume.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, do you and Brad get dressed
- 4:33Speaker 2: up all the time?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we do. Every year we have to do it.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Because we have friends and everyone wants to go do
- 4:38Speaker 1: like a Halloween thing. There's a difference between... really gay
- 4:42Speaker 1: halloween parties where it's underwear plus accessory we're not going to.
- 4:48Speaker 2: That okay we're dressed like this right um.
- 4:52Speaker 1: This party we're going to this gay halloween so what.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Was the name of that movie with tina fey and
- 4:58Speaker 2: the girl who's a redhead and we on wednesdays we
- 5:01Speaker 2: wear pink mean girls mean girls.
- 5:04Speaker 1: The girl who's a redhead i said kathy griffin I
- 5:07Speaker 1: don't know. Lindsay Lohan.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Lindsay Lohan. Sorry. That for every costume, Halloween costume, there's
- 5:18Speaker 2: always like a sexy version. Right. So there's like regular
- 5:23Speaker 2: Snow White, slutty Snow White.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So I was looking at. Somebody sent me something.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I sent it to you.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The sexy Mr. Rogers?
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yes, it was Michael.
- 5:36Speaker 1: There's this company in China that's making sexy American thing costumes.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And one is Mr. Rogers.
- 5:44Speaker 2: A sexy Mr. Rogers is a sexy Hulk?
- 5:48Speaker 1: But they're all like, they're not public domain. Look at that.
- 5:51Speaker 1: They're not.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Oh, we can't show them?
- 5:53Speaker 1: No, we can show them.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But they're calling it Neighborhood Friend.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Yes, Neighborhood Friend. Sexy Neighborhood Friend. Yeah, it's not actually Mr.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Rogers.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Right, but it is Mr. Rogers, yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's the first time I'm showing the
- 6:04Speaker 1: tattoos on the pod. I don't think I've done this before. Oh. Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I don't know. I've seen them, so I guess I'm not.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I've never seen them in the studio lighting.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I guess not. Yeah. You're going to get more?
- 6:14Speaker 1: I think so. I love a good tattoo.
- 6:16Speaker 2: No, I know. I'm actually going to get a tattoo removed.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Really?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's stupid. That's why.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Let's get into a sidebar about regret.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Regret. Regrets, I've had a few. I was 19 and
- 6:30Speaker 2: I got this really stupid tattoo on my chest and
- 6:32Speaker 2: it's dumb.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You don't want it.
- 6:33Speaker 2: No, I just don't want it. I just don't want it.
- 6:35Speaker 1: What have you learned through researching laser removal processes?
- 6:38Speaker 2: That as a black person, you have to be careful
- 6:42Speaker 2: about where you do it because you can get hyperpigmentation. Oh.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And then it'll just be like a- Whiteout. No, hyperpigmentation.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So it'll be a really dark- Oh, okay. Like a burn.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Oh, yeah. Be careful.
- 6:54Speaker 2: So, yeah, be careful.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Don't do like the Groupon laser removal. No, I'm not.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You know what, though? It's so funny. I was going to,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and a friend of mine was just like, could you
- 7:01Speaker 2: not cheap out on the laser tattoo removal?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Didi and Bev's tattoo removal. We got all your removal needs.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Dial 555. Remove it.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like people who did like plastic surgery. Don't
- 7:15Speaker 2: cheap out.
- 7:16Speaker 1: People who are injecting cement into their ass, the liquid cement,
- 7:19Speaker 1: or the guy who is gluing chiclets onto people's teeth.
- 7:21Speaker 1: saying they were veneers. Did I tell you that? We
- 7:29Speaker 1: can get into a real algorithm show about this. Please.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He was charging people to train them how to do teeth.
- 7:35Speaker 1: He was like a tooth doctor, but he didn't know
- 7:39Speaker 1: what he was doing.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Wait, a tooth doctor? Like a dentist?
- 7:42Speaker 1: He was like, I know how to do veneers. Melissa,
- 7:44Speaker 1: give me $ 5, 000. I'll train you how to do veneers.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Okay, like you were teaching health?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Right, exactly.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And so you would come and I would teach you
- 7:52Speaker 1: how to do veneers.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But it was like gluing Tic Tacs to people's... It
- 8:00Speaker 1: was just gluing teeth on top of people's teeth. And
- 8:03Speaker 1: so now there was this whole network. It's like when
- 8:05Speaker 1: a guy donates sperm at a sperm bank. Like all
- 8:08Speaker 1: of them.
- 8:09Speaker 2: All the lesbians and broken.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Women are the same. They're all siblings. Yeah. This guy
- 8:15Speaker 1: trained this large group of people how to do veneers wrong.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Where is this taking place?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Out of all 50 states, guess which one?
- 8:24Speaker 2: Oh, it was in the United States.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Guess which state?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Sweet Home Alabama.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Melissa, it's happening in Florida.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Oh, well, sorry.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Where all things happen.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Where all things that shouldn't happen, happen.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Is anything good happening in Florida?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a wrap. That's a wrap. That's it. Let
- 8:42Speaker 1: us know in the comments if something good happened to
- 8:43Speaker 1: you in Florida.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm sure there is something good happening in Florida.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Because I'm still at a loss. I know people like
- 8:48Speaker 1: to go to, what is it, Boca? Miami? Miami Beach?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Our good friend Alyssa loves a good Miami trip.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Should we call Alyssa? Where is she? What's happening in
- 8:58Speaker 1: Miami Halloween?
- 8:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Check her location.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I'm going to see where her location is.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, because she was supposed to come to a Trader's
- 9:03Speaker 1: Ring party and she didn't.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah, she didn't. Of course not, though. I expected that. Oh, yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You got anything crazy coming up on your feed?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Not really.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Besides raining cats and dogs? Not really. The midterms are
- 9:17Speaker 1: next week. You got nothing. I'm sorry.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'm very upset that I forgot my costume today. She's
- 9:21Speaker 2: on Broadway someplace.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Alyssa's on Broadway?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Oh, she's mad at me, actually.
- 9:27Speaker 2: She's in Midtown.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Nothing good happens in Midtown.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Nothing good happens in Midtown.
- 9:33Speaker 1: The cast of And Juliet reached out and they were like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: do you want to come see the show? And I
- 9:38Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I would love to. And they were like, great.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And then the date that I can go, Alyssa can't go.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And she really loves Aunt Juliet. And she's mad at
- 9:45Speaker 1: me that she won't get to meet the cast on
- 9:47Speaker 1: the date that she can't go to. Okay. A thing
- 9:50Speaker 1: that's completely out of my control and not at all
- 9:52Speaker 1: my fault.
- 9:52Speaker 2: So now she's mad at you.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. Because it is, yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Have you seen it yet, in Juliet?
- 9:56Speaker 1: No. You haven't? I have.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It's really good. Andre took me to go see it.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It was so much fun.
- 10:02Speaker 1: What is it?
- 10:03Speaker 2: So it's what happens to Juliet if she doesn't actually
- 10:08Speaker 2: die and the things that she discovers about herself and
- 10:12Speaker 2: about Romeo. I love that.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Oh, because he's dead.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Well, he ends up not being dead, I think. But
- 10:18Speaker 2: then they figure out all these things, like how lame
- 10:21Speaker 2: Romeo is. Really, really good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Okay, love that.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And it's all contemporary music. So it's like Britney Spears
- 10:28Speaker 2: and like NSYNC. It's really, it's very, very good.
- 10:31Speaker 1: This sounds like a couple drinks before you go. Yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Where would you place it on the paranormal activity to
- 10:37Speaker 1: end Juliet scale? It's a sliding scale.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I've never seen Paranormal Activity, but based on what you've said.
- 10:43Speaker 1: If I had two broken ankles, which show should I
- 10:45Speaker 1: go see?
- 10:46Speaker 2: And Juliet.
- 10:47Speaker 1: If I wanted to bring my dog to the theater,
- 10:49Speaker 1: what would I see?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Paranormal Activity. I'm dead.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm dead. Are you following the protests and riots in Paris?
- 10:58Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 10:59Speaker 1: In France?
- 10:59Speaker 2: Isn't that insane?
- 11:01Speaker 1: Because you'd spent a lot of time in France.
- 11:02Speaker 2: No.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Didn't you go to summer camp there?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but not in Paris.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry. The wig is digging into my brain. This
- 11:08Speaker 1: is for a woman's head. I'm going to have a
- 11:10Speaker 1: crazy line.
- 11:11Speaker 2: What's the difference between a man's head and a woman's head?
- 11:13Speaker 1: I think one is significantly smaller.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I think it depends on the woman. It depends on
- 11:17Speaker 2: the man. Okay.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Well, I have a huge head and I'm a man. Okay.
- 11:20Speaker 2: So take the wig off.
- 11:20Speaker 1: No, look at the line.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Are you allergic to the wig?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Is it really red?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I'm going to keep it on.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And what just fell out of it? What just fell
- 11:32Speaker 2: out of the wig?
- 11:34Speaker 1: I will say it was $ 39. 99. So, like, this isn't
- 11:38Speaker 1: a human hair bundle. This isn't the bust down.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Not you talking about the bust down.
- 11:45Speaker 1: The bust down.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah. So, what ended up being riots in Paris.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Insane. Well, I was talking to my friend. I think
- 11:56Speaker 1: it was you. I was like, they will change the, like,
- 12:02Speaker 1: what are they rioting over?
- 12:04Speaker 2: I think initially the problem is that there have been
- 12:07Speaker 2: some cuts to what's going on in terms of the
- 12:12Speaker 2: high schools, I think. Let me just make sure.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Because they're always, I remember a couple of years ago,
- 12:17Speaker 1: they changed the retirement age by like half a year
- 12:19Speaker 1: and people took to the streets.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if people are aware, but
- 12:23Speaker 2: that is a huge part of the culture in France
- 12:26Speaker 2: is like they protest. Yeah. They take to the streets
- 12:29Speaker 2: all the time. And I feel like, you know, barring
- 12:32Speaker 2: the violence, I feel like maybe we should take a lesson.
- 12:35Speaker 2: There's not enough of that.
- 12:36Speaker 1: If they change the retirement age in America, it wouldn't
- 12:39Speaker 1: even make the headlines. We'd be like, when did that happen?
- 12:42Speaker 1: We find out when we retire.
- 12:44Speaker 2: You know what I feel like happens here? I feel
- 12:46Speaker 2: like things happen and there's like no reactions.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Or not enough of a reaction.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I also think like, I mean, I'm not French and
- 12:55Speaker 1: I know very little about French politics, but I can
- 12:57Speaker 1: imagine that the things that are happening here probably aren't
- 13:00Speaker 1: happening in France. So we have a higher threshold for
- 13:03Speaker 1: pain than French people maybe? Like they're not constant, like
- 13:08Speaker 1: they don't have a reflecting pool.
- 13:10Speaker 2: No, they don't have that problem. But they do have,
- 13:14Speaker 2: Marie Le Pen is a very conservative and she's running
- 13:17Speaker 2: for president. And there is, you know, We should really
- 13:22Speaker 2: look into why there is this huge right-wing movement that's
- 13:28Speaker 2: happening across the world. It's not just here. It's in France.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It's in Italy. It's in Germany. It's in– I was
- 13:35Speaker 2: reading someplace that was really– I was like, oh, in
- 13:38Speaker 2: the Philippines.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And they're having like a surge of conservatism in there, yeah. Right.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I wonder what that is really about. I mean, people
- 13:45Speaker 2: can say, oh, it's economical or whatever. But is it
- 13:48Speaker 2: just that? I don't know. I have no idea.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I always felt like it was scarcity of resources and
- 13:55Speaker 1: then people swing really far right because they're like, protect
- 13:58Speaker 1: my country first. My, my, my, my, my. Yeah, I
- 14:02Speaker 1: need my money protected. I need lower tax rates. It's
- 14:05Speaker 1: just this squirreling things away, get off my lawn kind
- 14:09Speaker 1: of mentality that spreads when resources are running scarce. Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I feel like with climate change, it's just going to
- 14:16Speaker 1: keep kind of happening. Sure. And then everyone realizes- Gas price.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's $ 7 a gallon for gas right now. Where? I
- 14:25Speaker 1: filled up the, my car's diesel, but I filled it
- 14:28Speaker 1: up $ 7. 50 a gallon.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Okay. I got gas the other day and
- 14:32Speaker 2: was shocked because I almost hardly ever drive my car
- 14:35Speaker 2: because I don't really need it that much. It was
- 14:38Speaker 2: almost $ 5 a gallon, which is a lot of money.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I remember when I was in high school.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I remember I was going to say, go. Go. When
- 14:47Speaker 1: you were in high school.
- 14:48Speaker 2: When I was in high school.
- 14:48Speaker 1: You can't be ringing the bell. You forgot your costume.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'm here in a bust down wig. How dare you?
- 14:53Speaker 1: My edges are fried and you didn't even bring a costume.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I meant to. I made a costume.
- 14:59Speaker 1: You see how they did? Yeah. I did. Give me
- 15:01Speaker 1: that bell.
- 15:02Speaker 2: No. So when I was in high school, I had
- 15:05Speaker 2: a telemarketing job and I was selling appointments for somebody
- 15:12Speaker 2: to come and look at your oil, right? To change
- 15:15Speaker 2: oil companies, right? Okay. When I was in high school,
- 15:19Speaker 2: a gallon of gas. No. Are you ready? I'm ready. $ 1. 99.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Wow. That's how much it was. I feel like it
- 15:26Speaker 1: was like that when I was, no.
- 15:29Speaker 2: A little boy. Yeah. If I was in high school,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you were a little boy.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow. I was just thinking when you said $ 5
- 15:35Speaker 1: a gallon, I was like, that's how much a Beanie
- 15:37Speaker 1: Baby cost. Is that how much they cost?
- 15:41Speaker 2: $ 5.
- 15:41Speaker 1: When I was a kid, they were $ 5.
- 15:43Speaker 2: How many Beanie Babies did you have?
- 15:45Speaker 1: Hundreds.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I was that kid.
- 15:46Speaker 2: It was a big investment.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Huge. I'm still waiting. I don't have a 401k. I've
- 15:51Speaker 1: got an attic full of Beanie Babies. Pokemon cards.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Pokemon cards, garbage pill kits.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The Pokemon cards, I think, actually do hold value now.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I threw all my Charizard's up. We never reviewed CJ's costume.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I never looked to the corner.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Do you know what he is?
- 16:04Speaker 1: He's Mia Stanley Tucci, he said. I'm Stanley Tucci as you. Yes.
- 16:10Speaker 2: That's what it is.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I'm a dude disguised as a dude playing another dude.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Did we get a photo? Did we get a shot
- 16:15Speaker 1: of Tucci?
- 16:16Speaker 2: No. I'm trying to see how much gas was.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Tucci takes all the gay roles. Stanley Tucci takes all
- 16:24Speaker 1: those gay roles. My foot will forever remain on his neck.
- 16:27Speaker 2: What year were you born, Michael?
- 16:28Speaker 1: 88.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Oh, you were a year old. Okay. So the average
- 16:35Speaker 2: price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the
- 16:38Speaker 2: United States in 1989, which is when I was, I
- 16:42Speaker 2: think I was a freshman, was $ 1.
- 16:43Speaker 1: 02 to $ 1. 06.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I remember it was $ 1.
- 16:45Speaker 1: 99.
- 16:45Speaker 2: At some point, I remember telling people- Gas is $ 1. 99. No, no, no, no.
- 16:56Speaker 2: It was $ 1. 09.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Oh, that's crazy.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Because I remember being $ 1. 99 at some point when I
- 17:01Speaker 1: was filling up.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I remember when it was $ 2. Yes. And I was like,
- 17:04Speaker 2: what the hell is this?
- 17:07Speaker 1: Cigarettes were.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Cigarettes were so cheap. I don't remember.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I think it was like $ 5 to $ 7 when I
- 17:14Speaker 1: was buying cigarettes.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I remember my dad used to send me to the
- 17:17Speaker 2: store to get cigarettes from him.
- 17:19Speaker 1: No. No.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Everybody did.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Everybody did.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Everybody did. My dad was smoking Marlboro Reds hard pack.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Were people socially talking about how cigarettes were bad for
- 17:31Speaker 1: you at the time?
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but it wasn't, you know, now it's almost taboo, right? Like,
- 17:37Speaker 2: I will say that now when I see somebody smoking
- 17:40Speaker 2: who's a young person, I'm kind of surprised. I am
- 17:44Speaker 2: more likely to, I wouldn't, I'm not surprised if I
- 17:47Speaker 2: see them smoking pot.
- 17:48Speaker 1: No.
- 17:49Speaker 2: But if you're smoking a cigarette?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Or vaping now. Yeah. The kids vape in these days.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they vape.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I feel like that's socially acceptable in the way cigarettes
- 17:59Speaker 1: were when.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Well, when I was in high school, it wasn't like
- 18:04Speaker 2: I was allowed to smoke. The girls were sneaking to smoke.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Nobody was smoking in front of their parents.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But when I'm watching Sex and the City now, they're
- 18:11Speaker 1: smoking everywhere. In bars. I remember when I was in college,
- 18:14Speaker 1: you could still smoke in bars.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 18:16Speaker 1: There was like a couple bars you could go to
- 18:18Speaker 1: and still smoke. And that was really fun for us.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I remember when you can smoke on airplanes in the
- 18:23Speaker 2: smoking section.
- 18:24Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 18:26Speaker 2: My mom had a friend who was a TWA flight attendant.
- 18:33Speaker 2: And she– I mean, she eventually– she died. And it
- 18:37Speaker 2: was a whole bunch of them. She got lung cancer.
- 18:40Speaker 2: She was not a smoker.
- 18:41Speaker 1: She was a smoker. And locked in a flying coffin,
- 18:45Speaker 1: soaring through the air.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yep. Shed emphysema, shed all kinds of things. With all
- 18:49Speaker 2: the smokers.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And what I think is really funny, though, is that
- 18:52Speaker 2: restaurants used to have the smoking section as if the
- 18:55Speaker 2: smoke knew. The smoke knew that it could only be here.
- 19:01Speaker 2: But we accepted it. Do you know what I'm saying?
- 19:05Speaker 2: We all accepted it. Like, oh, okay.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Sorry, my wig's in my mouth.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I see that.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I just know there's one guy watching this who just
- 19:11Speaker 1: is like, into it you know what i mean of
- 19:13Speaker 1: course there's a couple guys yeah yeah i'm gonna get
- 19:16Speaker 1: a dm after this.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Whatever the thing is there's somebody who's really.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Into it yeah i'm gonna get a dm from like
- 19:22Speaker 1: that accountant that finance guy it's like you got that
- 19:25Speaker 1: wig still i like that wig on you what are
- 19:28Speaker 1: you doing later.
- 19:31Speaker 2: But i think the protesters were not just students and
- 19:35Speaker 2: teachers there were other people who are talking about the
- 19:39Speaker 2: lack of resources in general in France. And what the
- 19:45Speaker 2: French do that I think they do really well that
- 19:48Speaker 2: I can't imagine the United States ever doing is the
- 19:51Speaker 2: whole country gets on lockdown to go on strike.
- 19:54Speaker 1: And that's the tea is that like, if you're governing
- 19:57Speaker 1: that nation and you know your people, they will in
- 20:00Speaker 1: a second shut it down, go on strike, set everything
- 20:03Speaker 1: on fire. Yeah. It's not like here where they fuck
- 20:06Speaker 1: around and rarely find out. We're not going on strike.
- 20:10Speaker 1: We're not even walking out of work.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I wonder sometimes, you know, the great Montgomery boycott, right?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I don't know that we would be able to do
- 20:21Speaker 2: that today. Do people have it in them to do
- 20:23Speaker 2: things like that? I mean, because during COVID, right, there
- 20:27Speaker 2: was a virus outside that was literally killing people and
- 20:32Speaker 2: we didn't want to stay inside.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And it took them a long time to be like,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you should actually stay inside.
- 20:37Speaker 2: You need to stay inside.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Long until after they knew it was important.
- 20:40Speaker 2: And that is with the threat of like a terrible death.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Death.
- 20:46Speaker 2: So if you're not going to be willing to stay
- 20:48Speaker 2: inside because you could die outside, then are you willing
- 20:52Speaker 2: to stay inside or protest? You know what I mean?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Stop working to send a message about your rights, your
- 21:00Speaker 2: civil rights.
- 21:01Speaker 1: People were sneaking out to get their hair done.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I had a friend of mine who used to go
- 21:06Speaker 2: and get her nails done. The nail tech would open
- 21:10Speaker 2: the shop for her and they would sit there in
- 21:13Speaker 2: the dark.
- 21:14Speaker 1: That is so crazy.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Now, you could look at it a couple of ways, right?
- 21:19Speaker 2: So this person who, no, no, no, but this person
- 21:22Speaker 2: who that's how they make their living.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Sure.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And unlike people who can work from home, they couldn't
- 21:29Speaker 2: and they still needed to make the money.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 2: We knew somebody who was getting haircuts.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Oh, I know who you're talking about. There was somebody
- 21:35Speaker 1: who was sneaking out and getting haircuts.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And doing weird things to their eyebrows.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Well, I know exactly who you're talking about. And now
- 21:41Speaker 1: I know exactly who you're talking about. Exactly.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So, I mean, I think that we are, a lot
- 21:50Speaker 2: of us, myself included, can sometimes be very selfish.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And just think about how whatever this one thing is
- 21:57Speaker 2: going to impact us.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I wonder what it is about certain cultures where they're like,
- 22:05Speaker 2: you know what? We are going to make them change
- 22:07Speaker 2: the constitution. We are going to, you know what? We
- 22:10Speaker 2: are so disgusted with our government that we're going to
- 22:15Speaker 2: create a situation where the person, the current sitting prime minister, president, whatever,
- 22:21Speaker 2: has to go. And there won't be anything that they
- 22:23Speaker 2: could do about it. Trudeau bounced.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Bounced. Yeah. Out of here. Out of here. And I
- 22:28Speaker 1: think about if the, Protests are started about schools.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 1: In America, people would be like, well, I don't have kids.
- 22:37Speaker 1: A lot of people would be like, I don't have kids,
- 22:38Speaker 1: so I'm not going to get involved.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:40Speaker 1: But there, it's like everybody's watching out for everybody's rights.
- 22:44Speaker 1: At least from our perspective. From our perspective. That's what
- 22:46Speaker 1: we're hearing about in the headlines.
- 22:48Speaker 2: We would need to talk to somebody who's French and
- 22:51Speaker 2: really understands what's going on. But my understanding is, please
- 22:54Speaker 2: correct me if I'm wrong, that France leans more socialist.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Yes. Right. That's true. Okay.
- 23:01Speaker 2: So I think that there's something about being a socialist
- 23:06Speaker 2: where the collective cares more about what's happening to all
- 23:12Speaker 2: the students, even if you don't have a kid. I
- 23:14Speaker 2: think there is an understanding also that if the education
- 23:18Speaker 2: is poor, the... The progress of your country.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The workforce.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Is not going to be where it needs to be.
- 23:25Speaker 1: And it's like that adage about like first they came
- 23:28Speaker 1: for me, first they came for them, and then they
- 23:30Speaker 1: came for me and I was alone.
- 23:31Speaker 2: There was nobody. Yeah, there was nobody. It's like they.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Come for that, and then who's going to back you
- 23:35Speaker 1: up when you need retirement benefits?
- 23:37Speaker 2: Americans love their guns more than they love their kids.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:40Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It's crazy. Do you want to do Under Oath and
- 23:48Speaker 1: get into some Halloween lawsuits that we pulled together? Some
- 23:52Speaker 1: Halloween-themed lawsuits?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Hey, friends. What do I always say while Michael is not... Sorry.
- 23:57Speaker 1: This is not Tales from the DMs.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Oh, my bad.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Okay. So this lawsuit, there was a Reese's Pumpkins that
- 24:05Speaker 1: didn't have faces, and consumers sued Hershey. So the Reese's
- 24:11Speaker 1: Pumpkin candies didn't have the Jack-o'-lantern faces pictured on the packaging.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And they alleged that they paid a premium for the
- 24:18Speaker 1: decorative design, so they sued Hershey. Listen, this isn't France.
- 24:23Speaker 1: This is the land of the free and the home
- 24:24Speaker 1: of the lawsuit, Melissa. You have to get on board.
- 24:27Speaker 1: The federal judge dismissed the lawsuit wrongfully, in my opinion.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Finding disappointment alone wasn't enough to establish financial injury. This month,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Hershey's packaging was reported to include a new disclaimer. The
- 24:42Speaker 1: disclaimer says, carving not on actual product.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I'm going to say it again. We're running out of shit.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Just running out of things to do ourselves, to care about.
- 24:55Speaker 2: That is, you know what?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Never. Next. Next lawsuit.
- 25:01Speaker 2: You don't even have anything to say.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Well, the consumer protection law, I will say that they're different.
- 25:06Speaker 1: When you buy a product, it's called an implied warranty
- 25:10Speaker 1: of merchantability. But this definitely doesn't hit that. Basically, that
- 25:14Speaker 1: just means that the product you're buying does what it
- 25:18Speaker 1: says it's supposed to do, even if they're not explicitly
- 25:22Speaker 1: saying it.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:23Speaker 1: So this doesn't reach that because it's a design, and
- 25:26Speaker 1: like the judge said, disappointment isn't enough to establish financial loss.
- 25:32Speaker 2: And were the peanut butter cups pumpkin-shaped?
- 25:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 2: So they were pumpkin-shaped, but they were not carved out.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Also, you're getting more product if they're not carved out.
- 25:42Speaker 1: They're just less designed. If they're carved out, it's missing that.
- 25:46Speaker 1: So you actually got more.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Well, I don't know.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I actually think you owe Hershey money. That's what I
- 25:51Speaker 1: would argue.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Did the person sewing imagine that they should be carved
- 25:56Speaker 2: or there was going to be a face of a
- 25:58Speaker 2: pumpkin on it? Do you know what I'm saying?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the packaging pictured faces and it was
- 26:04Speaker 1: a premium decorative design.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I really don't like people very much.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I feel like this is one of those like Proud
- 26:09Speaker 1: Boy lobbyists that like file lawsuits for fun. Like, you
- 26:12Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? It was like, yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Do you want to read the haunted house one?
- 26:17Speaker 2: Haunted house actor allegedly chases teen into a $ 1. 5 million lawsuit.
- 26:24Speaker 2: A Tennessee family sued the operations of the slaughter. First
- 26:27Speaker 2: of all, I'm not going to anything called the slaughterhouse.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You don't want to, you wouldn't do a haunted house.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I don't like, I don't like being scared.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I do.
- 26:35Speaker 2: You do.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Of course you do.
- 26:36Speaker 2: You're sick.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I do. I'm sick. I love it.
- 26:38Speaker 2: The slaughterhouse haunted attraction after alleging that a costumed actor
- 26:45Speaker 2: chased a 16-year-old girl outside the attraction. She reportedly fell
- 26:49Speaker 2: from an unmarked curb and suffered serious injuries requiring surgery.
- 26:55Speaker 2: And the family is seeking up to $ 1. 5 million in damages.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Wow. So there's a haunted house that's in Queens.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:12Speaker 2: And it's pretty popular. But there's a disclaimer.
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's the next one.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Oh, is it?
- 27:19Speaker 1: It's like Watcher Show.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Oh, in Hollis. Yeah.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Outside of the attraction.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Why?
- 27:25Speaker 1: That's what the lawsuit's going to hinge upon. Right. It's
- 27:27Speaker 1: like this actor was hired by the Whatever company is
- 27:33Speaker 1: putting on the haunted house, the actor chased her off
- 27:35Speaker 1: the premises and then she was injured.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So now they're holding the company liable because he was
- 27:40Speaker 1: acting within his capacity as an employee and went rogue.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Right. He was until he chased her off the premises.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Right. So if she went down, if she went, you know,
- 27:50Speaker 1: she fell. Right. Outside.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 1: If she did it on the premises, maybe that disclaimer
- 27:55Speaker 1: would have covered it. But when you go into a
- 27:56Speaker 1: haunted house, you don't expect them to chase you down
- 27:59Speaker 1: the road.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Not down the road.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Because this next one, because I went to the website.
- 28:06Speaker 1: It's called Satan Slope. You went to satanslope.com.
- 28:10Speaker 2: And I can't remember. I think that's the name of
- 28:14Speaker 2: the website.
- 28:14Speaker 1: What was his late night search history? Pull it up.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Yeah. My late night search history is crazy. But they
- 28:24Speaker 2: have a disclaimer. And maybe the disclaimer came as a
- 28:27Speaker 2: result of this lawsuit. Maybe, yeah. Because they're very clear.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Be like, if you have a heart condition, if you're pregnant,
- 28:34Speaker 2: please don't wear high heels. Please don't wear loose clothing.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And by coming in here, you are really releasing us
- 28:44Speaker 2: of everything.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry. What? I'm just imagining.
- 28:48Speaker 2: The pregnant lady just giving birth?
- 28:51Speaker 1: She's like, I didn't know what to expect going into
- 28:53Speaker 1: a haunted house in high heels. I can't believe it.
- 28:55Speaker 2: First of all.
- 28:56Speaker 1: I can't believe it.
- 28:57Speaker 2: But you know what, though? There's bound to be somebody
- 28:59Speaker 2: who's like, I'm going to be cute today.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I'm going to wear my Louboutins.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to wear my Louboutins. I'm going to
- 29:04Speaker 2: be a sexy kitten. And I'm going to go flying. Yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 2: and I'm going to wear my high heels.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, my God. Wow. Okay, well, this Queen's Haunted House...
- 29:13Speaker 1: Multiple lawsuits alleging serious injuries. Yeah.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Be careful. Oh, my God.
- 29:16Speaker 2: One customer said he suffered a spinal injury.
- 29:20Speaker 1: That's bad.
- 29:21Speaker 2: After riding a two-story slide named Satan's Slope and hitting
- 29:25Speaker 2: a wall.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Isn't that funny? Oh, my God. It really hurt. But
- 29:29Speaker 1: he hit a wall?
- 29:29Speaker 2: He hit a wall.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That's like Action Park.
- 29:31Speaker 2: It is very Action Park coded. It's like one of
- 29:34Speaker 2: those things where there isn't like an engineer. There's just...
- 29:40Speaker 2: like a kid who's just like, we should stick a
- 29:41Speaker 2: slide here.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Their website does say killer clowns will relentlessly chase you
- 29:47Speaker 3: throughout this entire place.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Extreme haunted house owners who sued Hulu for $ 8. 4 million-
- 29:54Speaker 1: The owner of the notorious McKamey Manor attraction sued Hulu
- 29:57Speaker 1: and others over the documentary Monster Inside America's Most Extreme
- 30:00Speaker 1: Haunted House. The case involved allegations of privacy violations and
- 30:05Speaker 1: unauthorized access to private emails. I know all about this case.
- 30:08Speaker 1: You do?
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:09Speaker 3: This documentary is insane. This guy, you have to sign up.
- 30:13Speaker 3: His name is Russ McAmee. And you have to sign up.
- 30:15Speaker 3: There's like years long waiting lists. And he comes in like,
- 30:19Speaker 3: if he picks you, he picks like 15 people a season.
- 30:21Speaker 1: To traumatize them. Yes.
- 30:23Speaker 3: And he kidnaps you from your regular life. So like
- 30:26Speaker 3: right now, if I had signed up like a year ago,
- 30:28Speaker 3: he would just come in here with masked men, kidnap me,
- 30:30Speaker 3: take me in a van. And then you're like in
- 30:33Speaker 3: his experience for 12 hours and you have to tell
- 30:36Speaker 3: him all of your deepest and darkest like fears.
- 30:39Speaker 1: A year ago.
- 30:40Speaker 3: And he has set up an experience specifically for you.
- 30:43Speaker 3: And there's no safe word. You don't get out. And
- 30:46Speaker 3: like it's like he brings people on the verge of death.
- 30:50Speaker 1: And he films all of it. It's on his website.
- 30:52Speaker 3: There's all a video on his website and they showed
- 30:55Speaker 3: it in Hulu.
- 30:56Speaker 2: CJ's so excited.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Let me ask you this, CJ. Am I paying for
- 31:01Speaker 2: the pleasure of this?
- 31:02Speaker 1: You don't pay for it.
- 31:03Speaker 2: You don't pay for it.
- 31:04Speaker 3: It's free.
- 31:04Speaker 1: It's for his pleasure. Oh, it's free. It's free trauma.
- 31:07Speaker 1: He is a psycho. I'm dead. He's crazy.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Have people gotten hurt?
- 31:10Speaker 1: Allegedly. He's allegedly a psycho. Allegedly.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Have people gotten hurt?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. He's had to like resuscitate people.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Yes.
- 31:17Speaker 1: This is like it's Jigsaw. It's the Saw movie. He
- 31:20Speaker 1: films it all. He films it all. And so now
- 31:24Speaker 1: Hulu made a documentary about him. Out of his footage.
- 31:28Speaker 1: But they used his footage. So now they're in trouble. Okay,
- 31:30Speaker 1: now I got to watch this. It's crazy. It's a
- 31:32Speaker 1: good haunted Halloween movie.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Is the documentary scary?
- 31:36Speaker 3: No, but it's disturbing because you're like, holy shit, this
- 31:39Speaker 3: guy is actually not stopping when they are legitimately asking
- 31:42Speaker 3: him to stop. While he's filling up a container that
- 31:45Speaker 3: your head is stuck in full of water. And he's like,
- 31:48Speaker 3: you're going underwater. Their fear is getting waterboarded.
- 31:54Speaker 1: This is crazy. It's legit like sauce in here. People
- 31:57Speaker 1: are running out of shit to do. People are walking
- 31:59Speaker 1: around sticking their fingers in the sockets. They got nothing
- 32:01Speaker 1: else going on. Wow. Okay. You know what? Volunteer. Be
- 32:05Speaker 1: a poll worker. If you have that kind of time, right?
- 32:10Speaker 1: You got that kind of time, go to a protest.
- 32:11Speaker 1: If you're not going to a protest, but you're getting
- 32:13Speaker 1: the fishbowl filled up with water with your head in it.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Well, especially, I wonder if people, I wonder if he's
- 32:18Speaker 2: going to have more people who want to do it
- 32:20Speaker 2: now because of this documentary or less. More.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Definitely. People are sick.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I hate it here. Okay. Hey, friends. We don't know
- 32:30Speaker 2: what happened to Michael. So this is CJ standing in
