- 0:00Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with Balanced Life Chiropractic, and
- 0:03we have doctor Harley. How are you doing, Doctor Harley? Hey John,
- 0:06it's good to be back. I hope everyone had a great fourth and
- 0:09are coming back from their certifications or maybe they're going on their next one.
- 0:13And you did a little camping, is that right? Yeah? We went
- 0:15down to Stone State Park down by Sioux City. It's a really nice park.
- 0:19It's kind of like a Newton Hills, Like don't about a Canton.
- 0:21It's kind of like that, but just down a little bit farther. Nice,
- 0:24very cool, and a lot of people get a lot of sun.
- 0:27I don't know if you tell them, well, yeah, you're looking a
- 0:29little tan, a little darker than we were last time we chatted. This
- 0:33time of year, people do spend a lot of time outside, but I
- 0:36want to spend all the time talking about Balance Life Chiropractic. Because how long
- 0:39have you guys been here? Now? Almost four years. We opened it
- 0:41September of twenty twenty, so it's crazy to think it's been such a long
- 0:45time, but also it feels like a short amount of time too. And
- 0:48we started working together shortly after that. So we've been doing this for a
- 0:52bit now, yeah, twenty one. So you've been hearing us talk about
- 0:55some different things how chiropractic can help with various different things. But I want
- 0:59to take some time just to talk a little bit about us. You hear
- 1:02us talk every Wednesday, and you might not know much about us. So
- 1:06I'm doctor Harley Martin Moss and me and my husband Weston. We opened our
- 1:10office together, so we're a husband wife duo running the scene. A lot
- 1:14of people ask us, how can you work together? You know, I
- 1:15do all the the adjusting, all the patient care. He does all of
- 1:19the bookwork and you know, paperwork and phone calls and stuff like that.
- 1:23So if you call in usually you're gonna end up talking to him. He's
- 1:26super nice. Yeah, he loves to talk and chat. So he's a
- 1:30good dude. I really like that. But it's been a lot of fun.
- 1:32You know. Our goal really has always been about just helping our patients
- 1:36to understand more about what's going on with them. They walk in they've got
- 1:40X y Z, back pain, headaches, you know, you name it,
- 1:42all these different things going on. And you know, when you go
- 1:45into a doctor's office, the first time. You're always like, oh,
- 1:48I don't really know what to expect, You're nervous, You like, am
- 1:51I in the right place? So we try to make it a really warm,
- 1:53calming and welcoming environment, just you know, especially something that's new to
- 1:57chiropractic and maybe they've heard all the bad things about chiropractors, you know,
- 2:01just to help reassure them, answer any questions that they have about chiropractic and
- 2:07care and you know, especially you know, their aches and pains that are
- 2:08going on and how we can help them. And one of the things that
- 2:13I thought was pretty impressive when we first went through the process with you is
- 2:15there's a level of education, because I think that's important to know what's going
- 2:21on. But I remember you're even talking about like the founder of chiropractic,
- 2:24which is kind of cool. Yeah, do you remember his name Palmer?
- 2:28Yeah, that is Palm. Yeah, there's two of them, so doctor
- 2:30DEDE. Palmer. Yeah, it was the founder of chiropractic in eighteen ninety
- 2:35five. I paid attention, not that close. Yeah, I'm most going
- 2:38to know Palmer Chiropractic College. That's where chiropractic really got it start. That's
- 2:40actually where I went to school. So it's really nice being able to like
- 2:46trace your roots back to where chiropractic started, and that's in Iowa and Davenport,
- 2:50Iowa. But it's been nothing but up since we started. It's been
- 2:53a lot of fun getting to take care of people of all walks, alive
- 2:57moms, dads, kiddos, grandparents, athletes, pregnant moms. We just
- 3:01kind of see anybody and everybody and our goal really is just to help them
- 3:06heal from the inside out. You'll really get into the root cause of their
- 3:09health problem. If somebody maybe has been listening for a bit and they're going
- 3:13I kind of feel like, I know this doctor lady that I hear on
- 3:16Wednesdays, if they would like to come in and just see if this is
- 3:20the right fit, because there are a lot of different types of chiropractically,
- 3:23and I really like this. Again, it seems to me that it's a
- 3:27little more educated. It's not just I'm gonna, you know, twisty until
- 3:30you pop. There's some scans and there's some things that are done that a
- 3:34lot of technology that you don't necessarily see everywhere. But I like that,
- 3:37and I don't know that necessarily list what everybody likes, but for people who
- 3:39want to maybe come in and check it out, what does the process look
- 3:42like. Yeah, so I can start with a phone call. You know,
- 3:45you got to get a new patient appointment scheduled with us, so then
- 3:46we know when you're coming in and get your paperwork filled out. We'll give
- 3:51you a quick tour of the office so you know where everything is, so
- 3:53every time you come in, like, you know where the bathrooms are has
- 3:57always the weirdest thing when you walk into a place to bathroom, but I
- 4:00don't know how to ask, so awkward. You're like, yeah, we'll
- 4:01show you where everything is. You know, we're going to walk you through
- 4:04a thorough health consultation. We need to know a little bit about you before
- 4:08we start to figure out how to work on your health problem. Little education
- 4:13about you, know how your body works, how chiropractic helps with how your
- 4:15body works, because a lot of people don't really know much about it.
- 4:18You know, you go to a chiropractor, but you might not really know
- 4:20what is chiropractic actually doing for me exactly. And we'll do some scans.
- 4:25We have some technology in our office to help kind of pinpoint where those underlying
- 4:29issues are stemming from. So you actually get a picture of your nervous system,
- 4:32your muscle system, your skeletal systems. See, okay, we can
- 4:35see all these different things going on, and that's relating to why you're experiencing
- 4:39the things that you're experiencing. And then after that we'll put together, you
- 4:43know, a custom treatment options, like this is what it's going to take.
- 4:46You know, you're you're here. We're trying to get to, you
- 4:47know, somewhere else. So it's kind of like a roadmap. This is
- 4:49what it's going to take. This is how much you need to come in
- 4:51right away, go over costs for care, and then get you adjusted.
- 4:56So it's like it's a little bit slow over a process, but we want
- 4:58to make sure that comfortable with everything. And the scans kind of reminds me
- 5:03of like if my car the check engine light comes on, I can go
- 5:06and have somebody like just change things until it goes off. Or I can
- 5:11have them plug in a little device and go, oh, hey, the
- 5:13sensor says this is the problem, and then they fix the one thing,
- 5:16rather than hey, we're going to just keep changing things till that thing goes
- 5:19off. You know, you could do it both ways and again, if
- 5:21you want to have every part under the hood changed until the light goes off,
- 5:26that's up to you. For me, I would rather have them find
- 5:28out what the problem actually is and fix that. And I think the scan
- 5:30process you guys do is similar to that. Yeah, it's it's kind of
- 5:33a diagnostic of your nervous system, muscles. There's nothing plugged into you.
- 5:36It just reads like your body temperature on your longer spy. You know,
- 5:42it's reading your muscle activities, all electrical currents. I kind of like an
- 5:45EKG so I said, it's similar, it's not exactly the same. Nothing's
- 5:47put into you. It's not painful. Am I a little cold? Or
- 5:51ticklish? Oh? It is ticklish. I laugh every time. If somebody
- 5:55would like to stop in and see you again. It starts with phone call,
- 5:59make an appointment? What is that? What is the number? And
- 6:00how do they get hold of you? Yeah, give us a call at
