  [rock music] Ryyyde.
• 0:13
[rock music] Sounds a lot like that dang old rock and/or roll right there. [rock music] Hey, everybody. Welcome to the show. This is Full Spectrum Cycling, 329th edition. Yeah. Can you dig it?
• 0:29
That's the mid-Hudson region of the New York State. You know how long it took me to find that fucking album? You know how long it took me to find out- Can you dig it?... that piece of knowledge?
• 0:36
About 4.8 seconds- Nice... 'cause I didn't think about it until you hit the button to start. Nice. [laughs] Excellent.
• 0:44
Well, you know, it's our monthly, uh, it's our monthly get-together here at the old Full Spectrum Studio. How's it going? What's going on? How's it going? I climbed a hill. On? Oh, a bike or on your feet?
• 0:55
Are we already there? Just now. Just... [bell ringing] Oh, cheers. Right out of the gate. [laughs] Right out of the gate. Nice, Tony. Oh, it's Thursday, had to catch a hill. Thank you.
• 1:03
We might as well just, uh, back the, uh, the beer right up to the front of the show. Sure. This is, uh- Why not lead in with it? This is Gummy-Licious. Gummy-Licious Hazy IPA.
• 1:15
I hope it doesn't have gummies in it 'cause I gotta get home at some point. Well, that was funny 'cause I- I, I was... I'm like, "Does it have gummies?" I didn't, I didn't... I, I, I know. I didn't look too hard on it.
• 1:22
I was looking for something else clever in the Totile Wine. It's notes of juicy citrus and mango wrapped in soft- Mango... haze. Mango It's, uh, it's from New Whistle Brewing- Never heard of it...
• 1:34
down, down there in north, the northern 'burbs of Chi-town. Yeah. The woman at the register didn't... She's like, "Oh, this is a new one." [laughs] And I'm like- Well-... "Yeah, I know. I'll-" Okay, so- "... I'm down.
• 1:43
I'd..." Like, I haven't seen this before- Be-... and I'm gonna give it a shot... [laughs] because I hadn't seen it before, I had to kind of look it up and they have about two dozen gummy variations at Noon, Noon Whistle.
• 1:54
Okay. Okay. This one has a, a, uh, beer advocate or whatever the heck they're called. From 2023, there was some kind of talk about it.
• 2:02
I don't know if it was just on tap down there or whatever, but we're always late to the, we're always late to the party up here- Yeah... in Wisconsin, so. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yep, yep, yep.
• 2:10
So you got your Noon Whistle, uh, Gummy-Licious Hazy IPA. I don't think it has- Clocking in at a six? Yeah, I don't think it has any- It doesn't seem to have any THC or anything in it. Uh, I don't think it has THC in it.
• 2:20
No, I think it would be a little more on the center. That would be transporting narcotics- Narcotics... across street, s- straight lines. [laughs] Well, and, and back too. Yes. [laughs] State line.
• 2:28
[laughs] And, well, yeah. [laughs] Right. So- You know what I'm, you know what I'm saying. That's right, bandit. Um. [laughs] [singing] Rascal B. Cultrick. Oh, yeah. How- We're mixing them all up...
• 2:38
what, there's a lot of stuff that happens in a month when we don't have s- a week to talk about- Oh, shit... stuff that we did the last week. Oh, shit. Yeah. I guess we'll, we'll start it off with the Peretti ride.
• 2:48
That was way more people than I expected. [laughs] For, for as relatively chilly as it was on, it was sunny, which was nice. Yeah. It was in the... It was, like, 20. Yeah. High teens, low 20s. Like, mid-20s. Yeah.
• 2:58
Or, yeah. And, uh, I would say conservatively there was 1,000 people. I think there was 1,000 people on that ride. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, so, uh- Yeah...
• 3:07
we did our own little version of it as we are want to do on organized rides because the- [laughs]... plodding up the hills was just getting quite- Yeah... irritating. I could imagine. I was- And where the heck were you?
• 3:19
I was at a funeral. Oh, that's right. That's right. I forgot about that. I mean, I was there- Genaro too... I was there in spirit. Yeah, right on.
• 3:25
And I, and I did see you made it last week to the thing over by Mothership. [sighs] Yes, the Love In Action march from there- Right... up to- To Mittenfest...
• 3:35
KK, took over KK down by, down to Rushmore area, Bernhardt's, for Mittenfest. Yep. And that was really... [laughs] It didn't suck that, like, Bellends were, was the first band. Oh, at Mittenfest? It, it, yeah.
• 3:51
And that we got there about 15 minutes before noon. And they went on at noon? No, they went on at 1:00. They went on 1:00. Oh, wow. But all the same, nothing, nobody is there yet. Oh.
• 4:04
And any time I've been to Mittenfest it's been nut-to-butt and cold- Yeah... and just, uh- Asshole to elbows... kind of crazy. Yeah. Well, it's like going to- Butts to butts...
• 4:13
well, it's, it's a good event and whatever, and that's, maybe this is part of the charm, is that I [sniffs] never or rarely recognize anybody there. Mm.
• 4:22
Well, it, it, this is the first time I was back at Bernhardt's in a while too. It had been- True, it was at Boone... it had been down at Boone. Which, yes.
• 4:30
Is a big spot, but it's not the same vibe as being in the middle of a neighborhood on the streets in, uh- Right. Yeah... like, a large-ass block party. Exactly.
• 4:40
But what worked out was, I, you know, had, I, I had the fill of the, uh, spirit line, 'cause they always end up doing, uh, old fashions and they did, like, a weird, uh, vodka lemonade. Okay.
• 4:53
Like, a chai, a chai v- chai tea vodka and lemonade, so it was like- Mm... a dirty Palmer- Okay... John Daly kind of thing. Interesting. It was really good. I mean, I tried that one.
• 5:03
But apparently the big deal is their brandy, that they have a special brandy that they break out for Mittenfest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I w- was listening to this dude- Mm...
• 5:13
in line behind me, and I was like, "Well, I got a little learned while I was waiting in line." Got the... You got learned all up. But that...
• 5:18
Yeah, I didn't have to wait that long, and then watched the band, and then watching all the people starting to
• 5:23
boom, boom, boom, get right on top of me and it's like, "Okay, now it's time to walk back to the vehicle and get the hell out of Dodge." [laughs] Oh, right on, so you didn't stay for the other three bands?
• 5:33
No, couldn't do that. Excellent. It was cold. Mm. Yeah. It was sunny. It was a sunny day. It worked out. It was still- I, I wanted to ride. I was r- very tempted to- I was this close... but I had, yeah, this perpetual
• 5:48
head of [sniffs] sniffle. Yeah, you guys, you guys have both been kind of sniffly. Yeah. I've had a rough start of the year. Yeah. To- Tony had the antibiotics. Had the first antibiotics- I don't-... in t- over 20 years.
• 5:59
So they should work. [laughs] They did. [laughs] Oh, my God. [laughs] I mean, yeah, the absence- Oh, my God. [laughs]... absence makes the system grow fonder.
• 6:05
[laughs] I couldn't, I couldn't tell you when the last time I had antibiotics was. It was- It's good. It's gotta be- That's good... it's gotta be 30 years I would bet.
• 6:11
That, that- I, I will be honest with you, they were absolute hell And then two days later I'm like, "I haven't felt this good in so long." Mm-hmm. I know I'm gonna bulk myself- I ate, I ate like there was no tomorrow.
• 6:22
Yep. Okay. I was like, "Oh my God, food tastes so good right now." Maybe it's all the beer I drink because I just really don't get sick. I get kinda run down, like f- just I'm tired physically- Right...
• 6:32
blah, but I don't get actually sick very often. You want to borrow a toddler? No, you probably do. Well, I mean, I can make excuses. You probably do. Oh, [laughs] you want to borrow a toddler.
• 6:39
You probably do, but then it's- You want to borrow a toddler to get yourself- Well, Wendy's a teacher and she's got those snively, snot dripping little kids all the time Ah, yeah.
• 6:47
I'll admit it's close, but it's not the same. Mm-mm. No, you gotta work in the Petri dish. Yeah, until he's full-on coughing on you. God damn. Or, or you and me working in the Petri dish of- Uh, the university, yep...
• 6:58
yes, early. Maybe it's just 'cause I'm so sheltered. Just here to there. You are, you are a delicate flower on the wall. Yeah. Blow me a bubble. I work in my, I work in my basement and I work in here.
• 7:07
It's like I don't, I don't leave. You hold your, hold your breath. Speaking of- And then I go to the-... delicate... I go to the Oddbar now and again, though, so. Right. Speaking of delicate- That is true. That is-...
• 7:15
flower on the wall, it sounds like the art and music festival did pretty well this year. Yeah, I looked at some of the Sazuke prices. I did not make it, but yeah, things sold for good money.
• 7:27
Ooh, the von Mons went at like 610? Ooh. I want to say. 510, 610? 510, 6. That was- Ooh... it was up there. That was like I think a high winter. Well the winter- And that I looked...
• 7:37
the winter went for like 460, which I was surprised- Mm-hmm... 'cause last year it went for 800, and I, I really liked the one this year. The kois went for some big money, too. And- Not as much-...
• 7:46
in the, in the 500 give or take... not as mu- not as much as in years past, though. That's what I was thinking. In the 500 range. And the novis. Is that what you just said? Yeah. Yeah, kois. Yeah, novis. Oh, novis.
• 7:54
Uh, and then- I think von Mons is a big winner... somebody's, I think it was Tishler's girlfriend or pr- uh, whatever she is to him, went for like $1,500. What? Or more. So that one was like
• 8:07
450 before it even went to the show. It w- And I'm like, "Oh, this is gonna go big." Well, it was a late addition, too. Yeah. It didn't, I, it wasn't even on- The first couple of days, yeah... WMSC Art Auction, folks.
• 8:18
That's what we're talking about right now. Yep, yep, yep. And, and, uh- Art snobbery... and, and because my f- Yeah. Because my fundage is low, I didn't go down there and tempt myself.
• 8:26
[laughs] Guess what showed up for me yesterday? I had a fresh new credit card, so I was sitting there going, "Ooh, lordy, I could just go beak." And you didn't, though, not for 500. No. I did. Half.
• 8:36
My- I, two, two had my eye and I was- My, uh- Neither one was gonna do it... my WMSE window scraper showed up yesterday. I got one in my van. Nice. Nice. I do, too, now. Yeah, it's good stuff. In my, in my non-van.
• 8:49
So I have to use the WMSE one I can use on the side, but it's not long enough to like reach all the way over the windshield, so I have to use the old BMW one for that part. The big one, yeah.
• 8:57
So now I have two scrapers and brushes in my vehicle. Good times. It was one of the few things that got rescued from the 525 when it burned on the side of the road.
• 9:07
[laughs] That, a blanket that was only partially melted, and a couple other things. [laughs] Wendy said it looked, it looked like a Hollywood movie. And I was the star of this movie. [laughs] That really blew my mind.
• 9:23
Me, a long-haired hippie, no one could be the star of a Hollywood movie. A Hollywood movie. [laughs] But there I was. Naked to the world. We could just probably... [laughs] Boo doo doo doo doo doo.
• 9:36
I wish I could play whatever kind of... Is that a recorder? What kind of... Is that a flute? It's gotta be a flute. It sounded like a recorder. Which, Owen- Ah... Owen in, in his band. Owen.
• 9:46
He busted out the recorder for- I do have- Well, actually it's not a recorder. A slide whistle. That's what he uses. Oh, yeah. Those are pretty cool. They're very similar. Yeah.
• 9:54
So I have a couple of recorders that my dad got before I was born, an alto and a soprano or whatever they are, and they're some old German ones. Mm. They seem very nice. Very, very nice. Can you play Free Bird?
• 10:09
I can go like... [blows] Kinda like that. Yeah. That's about what I can do on them. I played those in music class in the fourth grade.
• 10:19
At least their kind of fingering is kinda similar to a normal, like woodwind instrument, and not like a bagpipe, which is all- Yeah... fucked up on the fingering. You sit there and go, and just blast into it.
• 10:28
Do, do, do, do, do, do. Never had one lesson. Do, do, do, do, do. [laughs] There's a pop culture dig. Yeah. Okay. You, you're making me think of, um, Saxamaphone. Oh, it was- Saxamaphone...
• 10:39
James, uh, James' band at Uptowner. [laughs] I don't know how to play saxophone, but I'm- I play saxophone... playing saxophone in my head. Oh, yeah.
• 10:48
That was freaking- Everybody's lamenting the fact that Dimension Seven Coffee is no longer coffee. That's beyond lamenting. I'm so fucking super sad about that. He made, he roasted a mean coffee.
• 11:02
I thought it was a little early for you to ask him if he wants to sell the roasting machine, just in case whatever's going on- Yeah, maybe... doesn't maybe pan out.
• 11:08
Yeah, I'm gonna give him like a month, then I'm gonna message him like, "Hey, you wanna sell that small roaster?" Wait, it's a- It's a pound and a half roaster. Yeah. What a great i- It's tabletop.
• 11:16
I don't r- Why don't you just get it for yourself? Get one of them. What do they cost, 1,200 bucks or something? Uh, a little bit more than that. Mm.
• 11:23
That and anything th- that expensive for me is just out of the ballpark. Well, I think it's mostly that he knew how to source the beans. Yep. That's really the whole- I think he'd give you the inside on that...
• 11:33
key to the deal. I think he should just kinda hold onto his idea of that not being totally done for the rest of his life. I hope so, 'cause that's a great, great batch of coffee.
• 11:42
Let's throw some cycling stuff in here, shall we? Yeah. We were. So, okay. So M- We were...
• 11:46
Milwaukee Bike Bazaar is coming up March 14th at Riverside High School, which is a nice venue because I'm glad it's back on, you know- Mm-hmm... the East Side. Mm-hmm. And then there's the old, uh, Bay View Bike Swap.
• 11:58
And if I'd- Hmm... I don't, it's would be very faux pas if it was on the same day, I think. Where's this Bay View place? Uh, Saturday, February 21st. It's at the Wheel & Sprocket- Ah... building. One we dance.
• 12:10
The, what I would call cavernous Wheel & Sprocket building. Never been in there. We probably should go. Well, they, it's a big building with- I've been in the parking lot [laughs]...
• 12:19
you know, with, with not a lot of stuff in it anymore because bike stuff is stupid to have. Yeah. Too many bikes in the bike shop... but, uh, it's actually, yeah, right? It's a beautiful building.
• 12:27
[laughs] My- uh, I should make a T-shirt. That's one of my favorite things to say, too many bikes in the bike shop. I- I would buy one of those T-shirts. Yeah, we- oh, I gotta make... There we go. Merch, baby.
• 12:36
Too many bikes in the bike shop. And get, uh, Jermaine. Too many dicks on the dance floor. Yep. [laughs] What a great fucking song. Yeah. So two bike swaps two weekends in a row.
• 12:48
First the one at Riverside, then the one in Bayview. Eh. I'll go to Riverside. I, it, if we, I, mm, I don't wanna see one particular gnomish individual there. [laughs] Excuse me.
• 13:02
Piss me off and then [mumbles] fucking guy. Not certain which one this is involved. You fucking guy. There's only one fucking... Dude, I don't have grud- The one grudge... I do not have grudges like you. I only have one.
• 13:14
Is it Zito? No, it's not Zito. It's goddamn Gomez. [laughs] He goes to that? He was there last time we were there. I remember that. He was, yeah, he was. Yeah. Last time we, you and I, were there.
• 13:26
I don't remember seeing him. [laughs] All right. Well, whatever. [laughs] Just saying. You were lost in the fog of commerce- No, I was buying a killer-... and swapping -... ostrich seat that since got fucking stolen.
• 13:37
That's what I said. I- You got lost in the commerce... I gotta think that thing's gonna come back to you at some point. You remember the story about- Yeah. What?
• 13:44
Do you remember the story about Adrian's, he had- I know why the caged bird ostrich seat sings. I do remember Adrian's story, yeah.
• 13:50
Yeah, he had a GT Zaskar, which is an awesome old school aluminum mountain bike made in the USA, beautiful, stolen.
• 13:58
It was around eight years later that it ended up wandering into the Bike Smith shop, and either Dave or Rob, I think it was Rob, knew whose bike it was and took it away and like, "Oh, I'll go check it out for you."
• 14:10
And then came back and said, "Do you want us to call the cops, or do you wanna just walk out without your bike?"
• 14:16
[laughs] And I, I don't know the, the rest, the rest of the story, if the guy had bought it from somebody or if he had w- been the guy that took it, but he basically walked away. Walked out.
• 14:25
That's how I got my Soho back. And Adrian got his bike back. Yeah, Ethan- Yeah, fucking Adrian... Ethan got my Soho in the exact same scenario. Well, you found, you found a- There we go now...
• 14:34
Straight Eight or something, didn't you? Somebody- I found- So it was also a scenario... yeah, I found, um... [tsks] Oh, I'm drawing a mental blank on her name right now. She's the masseuse for the- Ooh...
• 14:44
murder ball team for Canada. That's not too bad. Um, yeah, her Straight Eight got stolen. Gumilicious. And I found it, uh, two years later. Right.
• 14:55
And the person, uh, must have bought it from somebody, but they- She, yep, he, someone had stole it from her a- at the, um, uh, the safe house apartment buildings, like behind the safe house where she was living.
• 15:09
Um, she had it in her storage locker, someone stole it, and then they traded it for labor, and I traced it back via the IP address. Oh, that was a fun time. Yeah. Hey. Thank you for bringing that back.
• 15:19
All right, nerd alert. That was such a great time. Yeah. Pre-90s hackers. Traced it back to the domain name- No. Oh, they put up a firewall... the address. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
• 15:26
Tony the nerd is, is making good on his- Oh, it was funny... promise to get bikes back. When I even sent it to her- And had a Crystal Me-... I'm like, "Check this out"...
• 15:33
had Crystal Method, uh, oh, soundtrack going on behind it. [singing] Pretty close. Yeah. It was, that was such, oh. Pew pew. Ooh, firewall. Pew. Thank you. That was a really, that was a good time. Try again. Megan.
• 15:44
Megan, she got it back. She's like, "I got my Straight Eight." Nice. Excellent. That was the tech, straight... That's the only thing she sent me in the text message, "I got my Straight Eight." Yes. Awesome.
• 15:55
I guess we- Fuck bike thieves... we finally had a couple of, um, so, uh, Dave Schlabowski was kind of out of wanting to be part of society [laughs] for a while there, which is cool. Long winter.
• 16:06
Which is cool because he was getting kinda dejected with all the bullshit going on. But he- Mm... he kinda stuck his head out of the sand, and he did some really cool articles on fatbike.com.
• 16:17
One of them was about a ride up in Hayward, a Peretti ride, that got a lot of interest on the Facebook from people, lots of trolling in there. Yeah, it got a little- Did you say some bad interest?
• 16:29
Well, I mean, no, whatever. A bit of trolling, a little bot- Mm... a little botting. Little botting, but whatever. So that worked out pretty well. And then he, he backed it right back up with this thing on
• 16:40
th- the Shorewood beach walking guide- [laughs]... that had the ticket. My coworker. Right, for- His coworker... for whatever, thri- Paul- Paul Floersheim... Paul Floersheim, with the $313 ticket for allegedly
• 16:51
trespassing, which- [laughs] I know that he lost on purpose because the judge was- He wanted it, yeah. Yeah, the judge was the village judge who does probably know her ass from a hole in the ground.
• 17:03
He wanted this to happen. Be- He might even told her to do that... because he wants it to go to the Supreme Court- Supreme Court... which any sane person would say you can traverse
• 17:18
anywhere on the edge of the water, right? Just like Michigan does, just like Minnesota does, just like Illinois does in a lot of spots except for a couple certain areas. Um, but- Don't get me started. [laughs] Oh. Yeah.
• 17:34
Uh, you're- I'm thinking we go there for pre-dawn pooping. [laughs] Uh, well, here's the thing, okay? So, okay- Mushroom poops... so, hey- Mushroom poops in Shorewood...
• 17:44
finishing, finishing the thought, he wants to go to the Supreme Court where it will get its true day in court. But the guy, the first guy north of Atwater- [clears throat]... has three kinda weird gazebo-y things.
• 17:56
Those should be illegal. Yeah. They are illegal, I'm sure. So why are those not being looked at? Well, they will be. Hopefully they will be. [laughs] That's word on the dance. That's the dance.
• 18:03
But he's also wealthy and he'll probably just get it paid off. Well, it's not D- I don't think it's Dr. Armbruster anymore because that was a long time ago.
• 18:09
But- Well, that, it's part- When I was a kid, I used to shovel the, I used to shovel that house, and then the one just south of Atwater, I shoveled that house, and then the one h- south of there, shoveled that house, 5:30 in the morning, then I'd go to high school.
• 18:22
Wasn't the funicular- And then I made money before I got to school. It was very nice... wasn't the funicular part of that, s- slightly part of that property? Of that f- What?
• 18:30
The funicular, the little- Car, the cable car The cable car is in Atwater Park. Yeah, but wasn't there one next to- Uh, that I don't know.
• 18:39
On those things No, no, there was, like, a public pay one right in the center of Atwater where the s- where the flag is. Right. I remember Pauline Gamoras working there. She was such a lovely lady. Mm-hmm. Nice.
• 18:51
That was... I think it closed not, not long after I gradumated from the high schools. You finished high school? Yeah, hardly enough. [snorts] Excuse me. Me too. [laughs] Took a while.
• 19:03
[laughs] I was- Well- I, I, I achieved my four-year plan Of? High school. Oh. It's the 20-year plan of college. [laughs] There you go. [laughs] That didn't work out. No, that... I...
• 19:16
If you- Most people go to college for 20 years. What- Yeah, doctors. [laughs] Doctors and lawyers and such. I did five years- And classicist... and three summer schools to finish as an undergraduate.
• 19:27
I'm a classicist, thank you kindly. [laughs] So guess what happened? Frost Bike is canceled. No conflicts. No. No. No conflicts. At least we don't have to worry about it being conflicting with something else. Right.
• 19:41
Yeah. So yeah, I mean, the, the, if you, if you go- You have no ammunition loans, none. If you go- [laughs] You have no clap back... if you go to the, uh- You can do everything now...
• 19:48
if you go to the, if you go to the... Well, I got the bicycle retailer link here, but there, there's a...
• 19:52
Rich Tower wrote a thing saying, "Things are just too uncertain up here," which is the word, I think that's the word of 2025 and 2026, uncertain. The 2020s. Everything is uncertain.
• 20:03
Of the twen- I don't even know what I'm doing... of the 2020s, I would say, if there is a word. Yeah, probably. That would be the word. I probably could have started in 2020 when- That's what I said...
• 20:11
the whole shitshow started. That's what I'm saying. Yes, you're, you're not saying incorrectly. So- I'm not... so apparently- Occ- occasional Mike lands again...
• 20:18
you're, you're not gonna have that, uh, conflict with the old, uh, Fat Bike Brewery up there anymore. Well. Aha.
• 20:24
Speaking of occasional Mike, did you fill out your request to the new Fat Bike link that, that Sven sent us? I did not. Oh, I did. Well- I did not... thank, and thank you, Tony, for s- for filling that out. Yes. Um, I...
• 20:39
It, it's funny because I don't really check my Gmail account. [laughs] Ah. Ever. Well, you know what? I'm gonna tell you right now, on the Android phone, the phone- Phone. Do you have a phone? Phone.
• 20:47
On the Android phone, the Gmail app is fucking terrible. I'm sure it is. Well, then- Ugh... the, the whole ecosystem is shitty. Yeah. It's way better than the iPhone. Good things there are good breweries. Stop it.
• 21:01
There, good thing there's good breweries that make bur- beer. Good beer. [laughs] B- breweries. As we're all just mispronouncing every name, every word. Well, it might... It wasn't just the one beer next door or two.
• 21:13
[laughs] Just the, yeah, the little piece of paper floating in it. [laughs] Little, little acid in there maybe. Oh, maybe it's the gummies. [laughs] So, okay, so- It's the melted gummies that are in this...
• 21:21
so, so, okay, okay, okay... yeah. Okay, okay, okay.
• 21:22
So the deal here that these guys are talking about is at theoldfatbike.com, we started a community called, I call it the Fat Bike Lab, for lack of a better term, at least to start out with, and I invited these two guys, Schlabowski, Puck, a few other people to kinda seed it before we get it going.
• 21:40
But then on Tuesday this week, I sent it out to the Weekly Dose newsletter subscribers, and we got about 25 people in there now, give or take. Okay. Uh, and then I'm gonna do another
• 21:54
reveal, or whatever they call it, uh, for this week's newsletter, and then next week sometime I'm gonna kinda open it up to the whole everybody because it, I think it's gonna be fun.
• 22:05
It, it, it's, it's a private community, but it's, and it's all Fat... It'd be like a very, very sophisticated Facebook group, but it's not on Facebook s- so it doesn't suck as bad. Okay. Sophisticated.
• 22:17
Is it private enough that we don't have to have Strong Man Sam in it? We can have Strong Man Sam. Okay. [laughs] But I didn't invite him. So- Yeah. [laughs] Yeah... sophisticated. Yeah. Um- 30 grand a year...
• 22:29
you know, there's just, there's, there's different discussions. I'm going to have a bunch of resources in the classroom section. I'm gonna...
• 22:35
There will be eventually a paid tier where it, there will be more perks for people that actually pony up because we gotta make some money somehow, folks. This stuff doesn't run itself. Yeah. This beer doesn't buy itself.
• 22:47
Right? No, you buy it for us. Thank you. No. Well, yeah. Yeah, it doesn't... But it's, yeah, all the way. Cheers. Buy a beer for, buy a beer for Mike. Join the- Exactly... join the thing.
• 22:55
Uh, I'll have- Venmo @frozenron... I am, I am waiting until I have enough actual good stuff to make it worth anybody paying even a buck for it, but... Well, it'll be good.
• 23:05
And then, you know, uh, it's sort of like we wanna own our audience versus Facebook owning it. You know? It's like- Legit... what happens if we get banned?
• 23:17
What happens to our 38,000 people that follow us on Facebook and something happens and we, that, and that- 'Cause I said booger... and that goes away. Guess what happened? Nothing. We had, we had 27,000 on Instagram.
• 23:27
Guess what happened? Went away. It went away. Guess why? Jim Gomez. My fucking grudge, that's why. Gomez? Exactly. Just saying. So what's the- So you, so, so you don't want one dickhead
• 23:43
to steal your whole audience and just be an obstinate fool and not give it back to you 'cause you started it in the first place. Hmm. Seems legit. Yeah, I dunno. Whatever. Hey, Gomez, give me back my stuff.
• 23:57
Anyway, so, so this is- Speaking of stuff, what is- [laughs]... what are, what's with these boxes? Is the pivot, right? I don't know. It's got a, uh, s- a QR code- It's heavy... thankfully. It's heavy? The...
• 24:09
Well, to be fair, these were meant to be p- Christmas presents last year, not this year. [laughs] It's not heavy, it's my brain. Time is a flat circle. Yeah. Well- Time is a flat circle...
• 24:17
well, Tony, Tony brought those fancy, uh, those mugs are so great. Those, uh, those actually are awesome. I've been using mine at home. Are they not awes- Are they not awesome? They are awesome.
• 24:25
They will keep a beer cold forever. Yeah, they- Could be a new killer... you gotta fiddle around a little, but you can put your stuff, you can put your tobacco in there. I think they're tobacco products.
• 24:33
They, they seem like they're tobacco pipes. Yep, somewhat Is this like a pokey poke? That's to clean out your shit, dude. It's like a Proto Pipe from the old days, only it's... Pull it out. There we go. Nice.
• 24:47
B- You know what would be even cooler is if this was also a pen. That's... Yeah. Well. It's a stylus. Yeah, if you could write on your phone with it, that would be even cooler. Probably could. This is fancy. Yeah.
• 24:59
It's, it's, um- 'Cause I have one hiding in my phone. Yeah. Is it that? I don't know. Is it that? I'm not sure about a stylus on a phone. Does that work well? Do you ever, do you ever use it? He, his- No. No.
• 25:09
Only when it, like, pops out and I... Because I drop it. I drop my phone a lot and crack it a lot. So when I do, it do- it will un-jam the stylus. Jam, j- j- j- jam on it. And- Jam it.
• 25:21
But it goes right to Note, which is actually a nice kind of thing. Oh, and it po- 'Cause it pops out? Yeah. Yeah. That, that is kind of a nice- That actually, that's a pretty good clever thing. That's...
• 25:29
I do- That- And, and when I do this, light. Oh. And I shake it again. Oh, I turned that off. Yeah, mine- I had that. I turned it off. I used to have it where I could go- It was driving me nuts... doo, doo.
• 25:39
But I, I turned it off because I kept turning it on. Yep. That's exactly what I did, too. I do like my stylus on the iPad for doing, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, write, a- actual writing. It's kind of nice. Yeah. Yeah.
• 25:51
What else? Do you- What else did we do? What else did we do? So we did that, we did that, we did that. Uh, here's a thing. Sun is coming to the Midwest. Yes. Not to Milwaukee yet. Yes. Yes. Yeah.
• 26:03
But, uh- Saltshed, right? I've also Saltshedded, or hear- um, the Englert Theatre in Iowa City is also a possibility. I was... Oh, yeah, yeah. That's at- It's not that far away. It- Isn't it, uh, the Quad City?
• 26:15
No, it's a little f- No... it's like four hours from here. It's not very far. Oh, I'm thinking of... Let me think Yeah, Davenport. Yeah, that, that, that- Quad Cities. Yeah. Yeah...
• 26:23
Moline, Rock Island, and, uh, uh, that other place. I dated a girl that went to school there. Another freaking town in Illinois. Augustana?
• 26:30
That's why I thought it was Iowa City, [laughs] 'cause I couldn't think of the fourth. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Just saying. Oh, wait. That's why I was, uh- Oh, Bettendorf. Bettendorf, Iowa. There you go. No.
• 26:38
I got 'em. It wasn't something that- Bettendorf, Moline, Rock Island, and Davenport are the Quad Cities. Right there on the Mashippee River. Yeah. I used to, that used to be part of my, uh, my old route. Your route.
• 26:51
My route. Route. Route. That in fact, in fact, I would leave here on Monday morning and that would be my first stop at, like, 10:00 in the morning. I'd get to the shops when they open, on, you know, leave at whatever.
• 27:00
Early. Probably... It was, eh, two and a half hou- two hours. It wasn't that... It's not really that far. But anyway, Iowa City Sun, I love them so much. Yeah. And I c- I can't- I'm still pissed I missed that guy.
• 27:11
Yeah... I can't help but think they might show up here in MKE somehow. Eh, maybe not this run. Or maybe on the return of it. Maybe. But. Um, I did add a show note for... I don't know if you've had a chance to test your,
• 27:29
uh, ABUS fingerprint biometric lock, but since- Yeah... replacing it with a rechargeable lithium ion battery- Yeah...
• 27:39
like, I intentionally left this thing outside for, like, a week and a half when it was really shitty cold. Right. It still worked. Yeah. And now- You gave me-... the benefit of it- I think my battery's in the drawer...
• 27:49
I gave you two of those. Yep. I think it's in the drawer over there. Um, the whole deal with them is, is you remember...
• 27:55
I, I don't wanna say this guy's name, but I'm gonna, and it's twice in this s- session here, but- You say it three times, he'll show up. I know, so I'm gonna say Zito once more and not again.
• 28:04
I will say it the third time. That I lo- Well, because I actually have- I lost my keys on a bike ride. Well, you know what's great about that lock is I don't have to carry keys anymore.
• 28:13
I haven't carried keys for two months. You got purple pedals. I do have purple pedals. Those are kickass. Uh, y- so you totally lost your keys and you have not found them?
• 28:23
I have never found my keys since we did that ride to Saba- we did All Over. Um, and we end up at Sabbatic, and then the other place, the, the lady's name that you guys talk about, owner- Monica's... Monica's.
• 28:37
Um, and I never found my keys, and, like, I normally keep the keys now in a secure pocket. But since going to and having a reliable battery on the ABUS Yardo, that thing is awesome. Right on.
• 28:53
It has worked- 'Cause you were poo-pooing it for a little bit. [laughs] I hated it for, like, two months. And now I'm like, I don't have to carry keys. So your grudge has lifted. Yeah. Once. Once. Mine has.
• 29:03
Once ever my grudge has lifted. Ah. So as I will invoke the Zito name the third time- [laughs] No, I, I had such ease- Fox came in here... damn that, that one link. Or that link.
• 29:14
The, the photo of his brother, 'cause it was the Florida Panthers. That was awesome. Yes. He is the GM of the Panthers. And he was right behind, right behind the T-Rump. [laughs] Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm.
• 29:25
I was like, dude, if there's anything- Rich guys stick together... any, any- That's what happens... anything that, anything in that bloodline can just, like, manifest itself, please- Please kick him...
• 29:33
you, you have him right in your sights. Kick him. You son of a bitch. [laughs] Just come on, do something funny. Do something in the family, give- At least give him rabbit ears or something. Yeah. Something funny.
• 29:42
I'm sorry, but we're- Oh, it was-... we're gonna digress into politics, but- No, it was a side skirt... the Ford employee who called him the pedophile protector- Right...
• 29:52
who he then flipped off and said, "You're fired"- Right... not only did not get fired- Get-... did not get reprimanded- Get hired... and he made- No, he said, "Fuck you."... $900,000 and go fund me. [laughs] Yeah.
• 30:03
And I'm like, "I love you, brother." Well, he was, he was, uh- Well, uh-... suspended temporarily while they- But he didn't, he- Right... suspended but got paid. Well, there you go. Exactly. That's even better.
• 30:13
That's called vacation rather. As long as they, as long as they open the bridge to Ontario, I'm fine. But other than- That's a f- oh, God damn it. Let's not even- All right, we're done with politics.
• 30:21
[laughs] Can't talk about this shit anymore 'cause that's absolute abject bullshit. Ontario. So coming up- I like a beer... later in the, uh, month o- February, there is an open house in this place That's true.
• 30:38
It is true And there's a shitload of this other stuff going on that same night. Illuminid Not-I with Floor Model and Alleyway- Oh my God... at Vegas. Here? Oh, at Vegas, okay.
• 30:47
Um- I like Illuminid Not-I, those guys are good They are good. Whiskey and the Devil, No Rights, and Hijack at Tower- Yep... same night. Another night. Same night? Same night. That over in Ope. Ope? Obscure Birds.
• 31:02
Very fun. Yeah, it's Ope. I'm not doing it. Well- It's just a little far away... uh, Littyman's- And it rains only occasionally...
• 31:07
Littyman's got Dylan and the Dead, uh, with the D- occasionally Way easier to get to and way better All on the 21st? Yeah, this is all that night.
• 31:15
So here's, so- So the 21st is like the, like, "Oh" Okay, so here's the deal... that's like Stonehenge's singing like everything. Well, being that it's the Nut Factory open house, I would normally have the studio...
• 31:25
I was thinking of just having this place open- Mm-hmm...
• 31:28
and trying to get some folks to come in and rent some studio time, and then I talked to Mike, the guy that owns the building, and he said, "Hmm, maybe we should look at that. I'm not sure that's even legal."
• 31:38
I said, "You've known what I'm doing for over a fucking year, bro. You couldn't, you couldn't have said something ahead of time?" Do you need me to make him disappear? I like him. He's a good guy.
• 31:48
[laughs] I couldn't do that. But- Just asking... um, uh, so be that as it may, I'm thinking of m- maybe just having the,
• 31:55
maybe just having the fridge stocked, but not having people in unless I invite them in, but I really wanna go through the whole building and then the building next door because normally I'm just standing in my space and not- Yeah.
• 32:06
I got you... participating in the rest of the thing. I'm normally standing in your space, too. Right. We should not stand in this space and go wander everybody else's spaces this year. Okay, yeah.
• 32:13
And then go to other bands. Well, yours at 20- 21st this year? 21st- Yeah... and then go see other bands all over the place... couple, couple weeks away. Couple weeks. Couple weeks- Yeah... down the road.
• 32:20
Just, you know, good times. Spend fall in here. Really good times. Sit with me, spend with me. Um, I'm, I'm not giving up on this idea. I like the idea, but- If you, if, if, if you arrive here and,
• 32:32
and you see Sven, you can say, "Hey, I really wanna see your place." Sven guli. And then I think he would be more than happy to- I will show, I would- Yeah...
• 32:41
and I may, I may drag people in that are, you know, but, and it worked- It goes both, it, it swings- Or-... both directions... we're s- 90% of the way there.
• 32:50
There's like this place will be ready to record, I mean, for anybody else but us, more professional like- And the next day-... in like two hours or something Days. Yeah, we could get this done.
• 32:59
And the next day- Two, three... the next day, I, I wanted to ride out, but I probably won't. Out to Tosa, Rays. They got Wok fin- Oh. The two- Wok finter- The Wok finter fest... Wok fin- three Floyds and a bunch of
• 33:15
food truck and- Well, nothing wrong with skateboarding in the winter. They don't have an indoor facility yet, do they? Raised Liquor? Raised Liquor?
• 33:23
Oh, I thought Raised, Raised, uh- [laughs] I was thinking of Four Seasons...
• 33:26
I was thinking of, I was thinking of Raised indoor mountain bike park, then I was thinking of Four, then I was thinking of goddamn- No, it's-... Surf and Turf. I'm thinking of all sorts of stuff...
• 33:32
it's the Three Floyds Wok Winter... no, it's, oh, yeah. You're thinking of, well, were you thinking of Raised, uh, microwave tilapia? Oh, did you see? What's going on with that? It's going to be a bar. It's been there...
• 33:40
yeah. Is that all this has been, all this hype? My coworker brought it to me this week- It, it, it was a ruse... and I'm like- It has been that for- It was a ruse... years almost.
• 33:49
He's been working on it for a long time, I know that. Well, it's been up, that has been up for a year- What I cannot believe-... at least a year...
• 33:54
is that there's going to be another bar in Shorewood because- They finally got a liquor license? Somehow it got approved. Is it only schnapps? I don't know. Is it only tilapia? We won't know. Is it microwave? No clue.
• 34:07
Microwave tilapia. I did notice that they have pret- did you see the sign there yet? It's on the window. The one sign? Pretzels? No. No, the, uh, microwave, uh, stuff. No, I've seen the, yeah, the host- Some-...
• 34:19
the hostage flag. No, so [laughs]... no, uh, no, now there's gold lettering, pretzels, something, and schnapps. There will be three people working there. This is some wealthy guy, isn't it?
• 34:29
Well, he's from Fox Point, so probably not that wealthy. And it's still in Shorewood. Yeah. So, uh, it, so here's the deal. Three people are gonna work it, open from 4:00 to midnight Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
• 34:44
It might, I don't know. Sure. It's just a weird spot. I, I, if, if I- I'll stop in for some schnapps... if I, it's, it's right on the way from your chiropractor to here, isn't it? Are we out? Where'd it all go?
• 34:54
I went in your house. You had two. I went in your house. You had two. I went in your house. I had two. You know what? My, my math doesn't work well. All right, I'm gonna make one more thing here.
• 35:01
I don't know why I was thinking there was three. And then we're gonna go next door 'cause we- And have three... 'cause we runned out of beer over here. [laughs] No, just look at this. R-U-N-N-O-F-T.
• 35:10
Uh, t- so there was a recall from the old Trek and Electra folks for the old- Mm-hmm... electric bike thing. Uh-oh, I didn't hear about this.
• 35:16
Uh, thousands, thousands of e-bikes after the rear wheel bolts breaking and- [laughs] It's a recall... wheels separating. Yes. Jesus Christ. [laughs] It affects FX Plus Ones and Townie Go! Exclamation point.
• 35:30
So these have horizontal dropouts that just let the rear wheel [laughs] disappear? I think the dropout broke because I don't know. If they're aluminum frame, there's a lot of torque. That's true that. True that.
• 35:40
There's a lot of torque on 'em. I mean, I gotta be honest, I did make the mistake of even with a torque arm doing a magnesium fork with an electric motor. You mean when you wore the handlebars? Yeah, that.
• 35:48
Yeah, I wonder, I remember that. That was bad. I remember that. I mean, you were there when that happened. No, I was not, but I was the great podcast. Do not do magnesium with electric motors. Anyway. No.
• 35:57
So, uh, and these were sold between April and October of 2025. You probably ought to just- Holy shit, they're new. Yeah. Oh, God. Oh, bummer. Oh, God, bummers.
• 36:09
[clears throat] I think that covers it except to say that Tom Morello's coming to The Rave in May again. [laughs] That'll be awesome. In May. That's gonna be a good show.
• 36:17
And I got enough time, but between here and from here and yon, before the next show- Do you know what I saw this week?... uh, Shank Hall may get some money from me. Who, huh? Shank. Peter- Oh, no, Shank Hall. Yeah.
• 36:32
Lil Straightjackets and Deke Dickerson. Oh, that's a good show too. It's a good... Deke puts on a good guitar honky-tonking clinic. What you gotta do with pork shank?
• 36:42
I gotta be honest, every time I've been to Shank lately- It's a Tuesday... he, he has not been there. I haven't been there. And that's fine- Yes... except that when he, you know, just totally...
• 36:54
Scotty Beeram couldn't... He said, "We don't have a picketsale." Oh, yeah. That's gonna- Fuck you, Peter Jeff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. See that right there? I totally hear that. That's what I mean.
• 37:02
I mean, it's just- Just saying. Okay, two... You got two grudge. Oh, yeah. That is another grudge. [laughs] Okay. Just saying. Sorry. It doesn't come up. It, I mean, it's not an active one. Well.
• 37:12
It just comes up when I say words of some nature. You're still, like, 200 less than me, dude. You're fine. Okay. Well, thank you, but- You know? Also, quit being a dick.
• 37:20
[laughs] Dick one and dick two, just don't be jerk sticks. All right. And at Pugler's, the, uh, Sunday before we return. We-we? We return. We, we return. [laughs] We return. [laughs] Who's smoking weefa in here?
• 37:36
[laughs] Okay, okay, wabbit. [laughs] No, there was a- What's coming? Oh, oh, oh, oh. Uh, God's Outlawed at Pugler's Hall. Oh. Oh. It's a Sunday. I love, I love me some Brian. Did I ever tell you my... The- Big Smith...
• 37:49
did I ever tell you the day I met Brian, the story behind that? Mm-mm. We were at Rascal's- Okay... which is on the east side, which is no longer there, and, uh, I'm just, I'm in my normal spot- Matt Mae...
• 37:59
'cause I was kind of a regular there. And Brian and some other friends were, like, in the corner right by the front window. Is that where he face-planted? And they were watching
• 38:09
s- They wanted to put the Detroit Lions game on- Mm. Mm. Mm... 'cause he's a Lions fan. Forgot about that. And somehow he just changed the channel. I go, "Hey, monkey boy, what are you doing with the channel?"
• 38:20
[laughs] So [laughs] he's like, "Oh, we just want to watch the Lions game." I'm like, "I'm just kidding, man." And then we became [laughs] we, we, we became buddies. Right. On. It was just...
• 38:29
I must have just seen freaking, um, Buckaroo Banzai or something, 'cause I'm like- [laughs]... "Hey, monkey boy." [laughs] Caught at just the right time. Anyway. Well, yeah.
• 38:37
Then I tell you- I love you, I love you, Big Smith. You're so awesome. Big Smith. Also, I'm a Smith. Thank you very much.
• 38:42
And then the, I think they've figured out that, uh, BBC at that time was, like, the alternate Detroit- Yes... fandom place to catch shit.
• 38:52
Somebody just brought up the Bills there, too, 'cause they had a big Bills contingent- Mm. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep... at that bar. That was a great bar. Yes. Lions over there. Rest in peace. Bills over there.
• 38:58
Packers over here. Bears over here. You didn't really ever... You didn't have to co-mingle if you did not want to. [laughs] Yeah, but you could go over there and- Until the guns come out... well, no.
• 39:06
Then you can poke fun at them. [laughs] [laughs] All right, everybody. How your Bills doing? But what I was going to say... Oh, you can all say it off now. It doesn't matter. Oh, just go ahead. Oh, no. No, go ahead.
• 39:17
When it came to the Father... When it was, uh, came to the, uh, Elmo Fudd voice- [laughs]... there was a priest at, at Pius XI High School, Father Art Carney. Yes, Art Carney. Wow. Really?
• 39:33
And he sounded like Elmo Fudd. [laughs] And he is the one who almost caught me smoking weefa. [laughs] Down, down by the wewa? In the, in the, in the, in the- Down... there's a bathroom by the urinal. Down by the wewa.
• 39:46
In the union, I mean. [laughs] He's going, "Who's smoking weefa in here?" [laughs] And Casey Moriarty, he goes, "Not me." "Not you." And then walked away. Nice. So that's my dovetail- I like it... non-sequitur
• 40:04
that I will leave you all with. All right, everybody. Let's leave everyone with these pebbles. Before we get out of here just in case. [pebbles clinking] Two sets.
• 40:15
  [rock music]
