- 0:03SPEAKER_02: Well, hey everybody.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to yet another exciting episode of the Steve and Jeff Experience Podcast.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: I'm Steve.
- 0:10SPEAKER_02: And I'm Jeff.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: How's it going, Steve?
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Jeff, it is going.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: I I am so excited.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: I, you know, Jeff, I I I tell you, I think I found something that's going to get us that little step that we need to overtake that MMA fighter comedian podcast guy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_02: I think because you know, we're so close.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: We're almost there.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: We have only a few fewer listeners than he does.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: And I think I think we're I think we're I I think I know how to do it.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: I got this book.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: This book is all about it, tells you how to manifest, you know, and I and I think I think if we just manifest, it sounds like a lot of fun because it's kind of like Chicago Fest, you know, it's like a party, but it's I if you manifest, it can can we have women there too?
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I just I haven't I I haven't actually read the book.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: I and you know, I may I may not read all of it, you know, but I I'm thinking that there's something there, something we can use there, Jeff.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm really interested.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Are you sure it's manifest or is it master fest?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Because I remember book about that.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Junior high.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: I used to master fest all the time.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And uh, you know, I got a lot out of it.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, I got in trouble one time doing that.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: I was I went to I went to a Catholic school.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, no, dude.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: That was that was that was not fun.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: That was not good.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: No, you were supposed to read about master fasting or manfesting for that matter, although yeah some of that went on anyway, but uh, but I digress.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: But uh Jeff, you know, we've got I am also so excited about this guest we have tonight.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: We have a great guest.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: We've got this is this is so wild.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: You know, of course, Jeff, that I'm I'm from the future.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Well, and I I go visit occasionally because you know it's good you gotta see the family, and I got so many families I have to see.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: I just take it could take forever if I really visited all of them.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Some of them I don't like that much, so I don't visit them.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: But you know, the ones that I like.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: I went I went to one of them that I like, and I ran into this guy who is also a time traveler.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: He is a time traveler, he's from way into the future, Jeff.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: This is like we're talking different millennia.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: This is like way out there.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: And I I said, Look, you know, hey, you travel, come on back.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Like many years ago, I had a podcast that you could still be on the next one.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: And and you know, he he came back and and he's a look at the other side of the glass.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: There he is.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: Now we had to get him some current clothing, you know, because it's they wear different things, but yeah, yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Well, before we before we get into that, I have a bone to pick with you, Steve, because um well, uh uh here's the thing.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Yes, about master festing again.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Wait, well, not that bone, okay different bone.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: But yesterday, as you know, I went and got my COVID shot and uh flu shot.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, uh my covet booster number 24 or whatever it was.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: And then yeah, I think it's well, I think I missed I missed some of them.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: So for me, it's only well, and see in the future I got some new ones.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'm up to probably about 109.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Well, that's my bitch with you, Steve, and maybe your guest is you you do the vaccine in anticipation of something bad happening in the future.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: But if if you had consulted with me and told me whether I needed it or not, maybe I could have avoided getting the shots.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: And uh, and to be honest with you, you know, I've had some side effects.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Some of them, you know, are pretty disgusting, and some of them are you know not as disgusting.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Well, it's disgusting, but it's not because of the shots.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: But but still, I mean to go through the pain and suffering.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: You're not sitting around listening to Rick Astley records, are you?
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: That's a really that's a very bad side effect.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: I've heard so many people, so many people are are affected like that.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: So, anyways, so so yeah, so so one of the things maybe we can ask your guest, and maybe you can fill me in, is was that a waste of time?
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And more importantly, should I be getting them in the future?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Well, and you know, you know what I'm glad you brought that up because one of the things our guest is going to talk about is things we can do now that will matter in the future.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Or he's gonna talk about you know what what we can do and what we shouldn't do and all that good stuff.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: So let's just let me introduce him here.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: His name is uh Barry Goodman.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: See, they still have kind of regular names in the future, but his I think his real name in in the future is Corell or something, but you know, he said, look, why don't I just call you Barry Goodman?
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: I mean, okay, yeah, that's fine.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: All right, so it's always Barry Goodman.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Hey Barry, how you doing?
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I'm doing well, Steve.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: How are you doing?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Jeff, nice to meet you.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Hi, Barry.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Nice to meet you too.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Oh Barry, have we have we met in the future?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not really allowed to say because then I could be tinkering with the past.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Ah, yes.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: See, if he says yes, then you avoid him in the future.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And if and if I say no, you have no future.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, I saw back to the future, so I know how this works.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that just made me want to like date my mom.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: Or wait, I think I I think I already wanted to date my mom.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: I don't think it was the movie so much.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: I think I just already wanted to, you know.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: But but I digress, but Barry, yeah.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: So you are from the future, and you and you Barry is a time traveler.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: That's just wild.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: I ran into we were we were getting a latte.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: You know, they still do lattes if you wouldn't, you would believe.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: You might think that would be a trend, but no, no, that's a real that's a curve, that's a permanent thing.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: So we were getting a latte and I started talking.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: It's like, whoa, wait.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: So Barry, wait, tell us a little about your story.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, I was born in about uh it's about 600 years from now.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's not quite the same, it's kind of the same.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: All I can tell you is nobody misses Florida.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Um, that was the global warming, global warming really worked out.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: See, we don't have Florida, and uh the other thing too is that whole Jurassic Park thing.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Oh man, lizards love it hot.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: They're they're back.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: They're back.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: So Jurassic Park was like a was like a prophecy.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: It was, and that that is uh, you know, our Bible, you know, according to the uh 1980s and 90s movies.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: You know, many of those were the prophecies.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: So is there is there like instead of Song of Songs in the Bible, do you have like when Harry missed Sally?
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Is one is kind of your your love story?
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: It it is how we uh all meet.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Uh in the future, we are all just uh platonic friends for about 30 years, sleep with each other once, don't talk to each other for another 10 years, then we realize that we've wasted 40 years of our lives, and then we we kiss at New Year's Eve and live happily ever after.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: God Barry, are are you Jewish?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Because that sounds like sounds like my marriage.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Uh come on, Goodman, you know.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, and Barry, my middle name is Barry.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: So we got something I I would say though, your your middle name is Barry.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Mine's Barry, like B-U-R-Y.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, Barry Barry, huh?
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Barry, Barry Goodman, yes.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Barry, very good.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: So it's more like a it's more like a sentence than a name.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's kind of the whole thing.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: And so like if someone doesn't pronounce properly, they might call you like very, very goodman, right?
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: The B and the B being interchangeable.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, it depends on depends on dialect.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: Well, well, so so now what's it like in the future?
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, I know what it's like, but tell our listeners, because you know, it's always good when somebody else, because I can tell them, but you know, they hear me all the time.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: Maybe they should hear you tell it.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: It's so damn boring.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, there there is literally nothing to do.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: We sit around, we listen to the radio.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Can you believe the radio is still a thing?
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Wow, radio comes back.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Radio comes back, and like I said, it takes a 40-year courtship to get a peck on the cheek on New Year's Eve, and uh that's why we invented time travel to come back to all of these great times because you guys are actually living in the best of times.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Wow, do you mind me asking you just kind of some general questions about the future?
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: Again, I don't want to change the future or screw with that, but for example, you mentioned that radio has come back for television.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: How big are the TV screens?
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Like, is there a maximum size?
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: It's uh when you combine the television screens with the AI, you actually are in the television screen.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: It's a little bit like uh oh the other prophecy of the Truman show.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: The prophet spoke through Jim Carrey.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Yes, and it it it predicted the path that we would all be taking.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: We're all in the show.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Yes, we are all physically in the show.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's kind of why I want to get back to this, you know, more fun, simpler time.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, back when you could go to a football game on a Sunday afternoon.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you know, you know, the nice thing about now is if you're if you're watching a show you don't like, you just turn it off.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: But no, if you're in the show, uh you can't turn it off.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: That's a problem.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: It's a lot more difficult to turn it off, that's for sure.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I mean Is it still Comcast?
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Don't get me started, please don't tell me it's Comcast.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Don't get me started on Comcast.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: That's just horrible.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I can live with Florida being gone, but Comcast still providing my TV service or my internet.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: I I well is just horrible.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Worst thing was about 200 years from now, they buy the post office.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: Oh man, when that happened, I couldn't believe it.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was just you know.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: I said, when's the mail coming and say, well, you will come next week between nine and noon?
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: So so the other thing I I I'm I'm detecting here is that, and maybe we already just said this, and maybe I I wasn't paying attention because I have a fever from the shots I probably didn't need to have.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I and I I you know I want to get back to that for a second, but but my question was how much of the future is communicated through movies?
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Because it seems like you've referenced a number of movies, um like like American graffiti.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: So was there something from the future that was learned from the you know the movie American graffiti?
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: It was I don't know.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: It was mostly just to get an appreciation of Ron Howard.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Once once Ron Howard got that appreciation, it really made him into the star, into the into the prophet that Ron Howard is.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And Shirley, what was her name?
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Do you remember Steve?
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: What in the I don't know the actor's uh Shirley Fields?
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Cindy Williams.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Cindy Williams, Cindy Williams, yeah, or as we know her, the prophet Cindy Williams.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: See, in the future I remember her name, but right now I just it it slipped my mind, you know.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it takes a while.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: It's like jet lag.
- 10:55unknown: Yeah.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: You know, we don't get tired, we just forget.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right, right.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: And and sometimes it's good we forget because otherwise we'd try to monkey with the with the future, wouldn't we?
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: You know, it's just it's just human nature, right?
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: You come back, oh, I'm gonna change a couple things.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: I'll I'll be a billionaire when I go back, you know.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: But you know, we did all that, and as it turns out, this is the best path that any of us could possibly be on.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: No, so you mean with with all the all the strife and all the contention and all the problems, this is the golden age right now?
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Right now.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: You are living in it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's depressing.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Tell me about it.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: I live six I live six hundred years from now.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: I'd come back here so I can go to a movie and watch a football game.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's amazing.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Do you know who the uh coach is, the football coach for Nebraska in the future?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Because I think there isn't one right now, from my from what I've heard.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: It's actually Scott Frost the 33rd.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: The 34th great grandson of the Scott Frost.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: They they brought him they brought him in when they fired Kanye West the 29th.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, I was gonna take a guess and say it was Paul Lamatte.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: Wait, what was his name?
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: So who's the guy from American Graffiti?
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: American Graffiti reference, yes.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I thought maybe he because he he looked like somebody that could be a good coach.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: You know, he's kind of muscular and very serious, very intense.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: You could see him yelling.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Is he still is he still alive or did he die?
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Paul Lamont?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, don't know.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: We will have to look at it.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: His career died.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: See and and you know, I I think I knew that in the future, but I forget it when I come back.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: You know, it's that it's that brain lag.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Now do and that brings up that of course brings me to Penny Marshall.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: And the question does, right?
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Every everything does, but now Penny Marshall's no longer with us.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: In the future, is Penny are people who have died in the future or are they just gone?
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: They're just gone.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's too bad.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: But there are a few of us slippery folk who slip the bonds of time and just keep moving.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: You just gotta stay one step ahead of the grim reaper.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Kind of like having bad credit and renting an apartment.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Just like always one step ahead of uh being evicted.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Uh we're one step ahead of um being dead.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: It's like writing those checks when the money's not in the account yet, but you know it's gonna take a couple days anyway, you know.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: And then you can just go under the future and steal the check.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Then you go two days ahead and you yank the check.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: It's perfect.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: God, you guys really have it together.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I feel bad because I, you know, I don't have it together, primarily because I have a fever from these shots that I had that I don't think I needed to take.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Can you did I need to take them?
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Do I need to take the next one?
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: All right, list them off for me.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: I'll tell you if you need them or not.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Uh well, one was a COVID booster and it was a suppository, which I thought was kind of interesting because I don't like needles.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I felt like there was some progress made on that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So, like a suppository is better.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, except except for tetanus.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: You don't want the tetanus repository.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think you're probably right.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And the other one was a basic flu, which I think is redundant.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, at the time I was like, they said, okay, you're gonna have your flu shot and your flu shot.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, well, which one?
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: And they kind of got an argument, and then at that point, you know, they administered this repository, and and for some reason I calmed down immediately.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Ah, well, uh all I can tell you is keep getting the shots.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: They don't hurt, they may help.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Listen, some of them obviously work.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Like, do you know anybody that has tetanus right now?
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Diphtheria?
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: Haven't seen a diphtheria in well, since I went to the past.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: I went back a hundred years or so just to you know knock around a little and yeah, saw some, but haven't seen one since.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: I I suggest taking them.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: We're up to COVID 742, and um, you know, 742 boosters.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: I'm with you.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: They yeah, they they they keep telling us that they'll they'll do us good, but here we are 600 years into the future and we still got covet.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: And at some point your your blood is all RNA, right?
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's just all the shot.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, we're just all vaccine.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: When they take our blood out, it's just all vaccine.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: So when when you get a transfusion in the future, it's like you get immunity immediately to like everything.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: And if they if they if the trend continues about moving towards depositories, uh that can't be good to have that done on a regular basis.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: That's that's gotta be bad for you.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I gotta think.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: It's it's kind of like taking a centrum silver.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just once a day, and you're done.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Well, what was that sound effect?
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna, you know, you know, Jeff, I I I think we should we should think about that for a minute.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: But uh, Jeff, I mean we we got a lot more questions, but Jeff, we've got a brand new sponsor.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Oh whoa, it's so exciting.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: It is a it's a financial services company, and they they said something about that they help people build the FU money, and I I think that means the fully underwritten money.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: I think it's what they mean by FU.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: But I why don't I just play this?
- 16:22SPEAKER_02: Uh let's uh let's just go to commercial.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: We wanna help money.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: Well, Jeff, I can only say that uh that FU sounds pretty fun.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: And you can't say fun without saying F you, can you?
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: No, and uh Steve, again, you I don't know where you come up with these uh advertisers, but every one of them is better than the previous one.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, and everyone makes you wanna makes you want to do whatever they're advertising.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: Like I want to go talk to these goucher guys now, you know?
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: It's like I I don't know.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: Could could I do karaoke with them?
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Maybe that'd be kind of cool.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Maybe that's what they do all day.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Maybe that's how you get the FU money.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 18:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: But but but I digress.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: But so Barry, in the future, you know, you say today is the golden age.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: So what's what's bad about the future other than takes 40 years to get a good night kiss, and you know, you can't go to a movie.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: So look, you know, our our lifespans are very long, our needs are very well taken care of.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: We've figured out how to feed ourselves, we figured out energy.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: There's very, very little, if any, crime, and and any crime that there is, it's really the little stuff.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's the commandments about coveting.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: That's all we got for crime.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: And the thing is, is it's a it's a long, healthy, uh, prosperous life, but it's so goddamn boring that you just want to go back to like 1973 and walk through Times Square naked and just see what happens.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and and like walk in somewhere where everybody's smoking and and you know, throwing down drinks and you know knocking each other over the head.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: It's just exciting times.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, it's like you just want to go get into a good bar fight where you don't really know if you're gonna win.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: You know, just something that makes you feel alive.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: And how how uh how ironic that that the life that we have struggled for, this this solving all these problems has created this boredom, this horrible life.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: I mean it sounds like it sounds like you're saying happiness is boring, contentment is boring.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the lack of risk is boring.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm never gonna get sick, I'm never gonna get COVID because of all the vaccines.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: They got a vaccine for everything now.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Never gonna get sick, never gonna be poor, never gonna be hungry.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just once I want to have a guy pull a knife on me in an in an alley and uh test things out, test out a new move.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: So far that sounds exciting.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: So far, I'm nine and one.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: So uh so Barry that one was painful though.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, that'll make you feel alive.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, I bet.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I bet, yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Had to go had to rush right up into the future to get cured and right back to kick his ass.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: So, as a traveler, this kind of uh I think we talked about this during the pre-show discussion that we had, that as a traveler, there is something that is taking you from the future to here and back.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: I'm wondering, is it a is it an airplane?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Is it a uh, you know, is is there something that's transporting you that I could relate to as somebody who hasn't been to the future?
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: Have you ever seen the Jetsons?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Yes, oh yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like that.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: How do I describe it?
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: It's like that uh remember in the Jetsons where uh George he he had that treadmill on the outside?
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you walk the dog on the treadmill.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's what it is.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: It's it's a it's a it's a treadmill in the sky, way up in the sky, like on the 107th floor, there's a treadmill.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: We get on that, depending on how fast we go and how far we go on the treadmill, we end up in the past.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And and we're was the actor that played Astro was the dog.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Astro?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Was that the dog?
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Was he the same actor that played the dog and Scooby-Doo?
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: Well, that's a good question.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: A lot of people get that confused.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: There's a there's this marvelous thing too that you've got here in in the present times that we don't have.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: And that's uh the internet.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: In the future, we would just not know the answer to that question.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: In the present we can look it up.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: I didn't want to tell you, Jeff, but in the future there there's a shelf life to our podcast because in the future no internet that's gone.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: No internet.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: No.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: No, it's just if you if you can't transmit it by thought, then it's not worth knowing.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's a big change.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: That is.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Um, I kind of like it.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: You know, I feel like we've gotten I've gotten pretty dependent on uh electronics and you know stuff like the internet and garage door openers and things that plug in, things that uh use electricity.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: And I I kind of think it's probably good that we're going back to a time where that that's not an option.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: Of course, of course, now nobody can get a decent frozen margarita in the future, but you know, hey, there are some pluses.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: But anyway, but I'm sorry, Barry, you you were about to say something.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Well, I I was gonna say, yeah, that that was the same guy that did Scooby Do an Astro.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: So good call.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And he later, you know, you know, actually, in in his later years, a lot of people don't know this.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: In his later years, he actually played Benji in the last of the Benji movies.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: He had the it was heavily made up, heavily made up.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was the real uh real uh live action one of those.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: That was there, and there was this kind of you you took a closer look, and and the character that he played reminded me a lot of penny marshall, you know, in her later years.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: There was this look, this uh I don't I don't know what you would call it, but Penny Penny made me think of a dog during her later years.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm glad you said that and not me.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: I I I think Jeff, you're talking about all these great sponsors.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: I think I think we can rule out veterinarians and the uh women's movement.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: Penny Marshall family as as sponsors ever for this show, ever.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: No, yeah.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: How far in the future we go, they'll say, Yeah, you're the guy.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Wait.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: So and and you know, uh a League of League of My Own or Your Own or somebody's League, um, was one of my favorite movies.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: And I know that Penny Marshall directed that.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Was she in it too?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I don't remember if she was in or don't think she was.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: No, she it that was Tom Hanks.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: You're you're Tom Hanks.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: I always mix them up.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: You know, they look very similar.
- 24:35SPEAKER_02: Tom Hanks always kind of suggests a hound of some sort to me.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: It's the the shape of the face.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Uh it's got kind of like a, I don't know, like a not like a basset hound, but you know, like a I don't know, a medium-sized hound.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: You know, you know what I mean?
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Wolf hound, maybe.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: You've got a medium-sized wolf hound.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: It's a kid, you know, it's a little it's a young one.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: What else you got laying around the house?
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, you know, in the future they've created all kinds of interesting life forms, you know.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: They have dwarf giants.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's it's it's incredible what they could do.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: It's just unbelievable.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: And with no electricity.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I don't know how they do it.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: See, I'm I'm thinking after we're done with this, I'm gonna go back to 1987 so I can use a refrigerator that doesn't also tell the weather.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: You know, I just want a refrigerator that just keeps the food cold.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Just keeps food cold.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: And I want the weather to just be a surprise.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then and a refrigerator that like doesn't let you know, hey, you're about to run out of yogurt, or oh, here, let me filter your water for you.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: It's like, no, just just keep it keep stuff cold, and that's good.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, water's here and food's here, and yeah, you know, it was simpler back then.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: It was simpler back then.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: You just you'd buy a toaster to toast your bread.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Toast bread, exactly.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Not charge your car battery.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which is kind of I might be a few years ahead of myself here.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's kind of a you know, I'm a I'm a stickler or stickler.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: I uh I hate it when people use the term old school because you know, you get these young kids say something's old school and it only means like five years ago.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you guys are talking real old school and new school, right?
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: And uh I'm fascinated by that.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: Talking old school.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: I I sat next to Plato, I got really old school at Plato, man, that guy's stunk.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: You know, they tell you I just like some people just don't bathe.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: Oh man, this guy, I don't think he ever got near water.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: This guy's stunk, and I had to sit next to him.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: I kept saying, Socrates, dude, doctor.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, can I change seats?
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: No, can't change.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: And then he'd ask me, he's like, Why do you want to change seats?
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Because he stinks.
- 26:42SPEAKER_02: Well, why do you think he stinks?
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: He kept asking me these questions like, shut up, I just want to change seats.
- 26:47SPEAKER_02: Fascinating.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: I took Amelia Earhart to prom.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: Oh, she was a looker.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Little flighty.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: I think the theme song of that prom was Fly Me to the Moon, wasn't it?
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: I think it was.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Well, that's amazing.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Any other uh women you um had relationships with uh in the future that or in the past that you'd like to share with us?
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Either of you.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: I don't want to say too much, but Jeff, your great great granddaughter is very attractive.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: Let me just tell you that's I don't want to go into too much detail, but I I wasn't gonna go there, but yeah, she's very popular.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna throw out two initials and and tell me whether you guys have uh had a relationship with this uh this person.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: PM Perry Mason?
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: Perry Mason.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Sometimes she went by Perry Mason.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Her first name was Penny Marshall.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, Penny Marshall.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Oh that was her first name.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: So and you know what?
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: The truth is, and I I need to come clean here on Laverne Shirley.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: I kind of had the hots for her at that point.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Remember, she had kind of the the the big L on her blouse, and uh could not keep my eyes off of that.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: That L, the loop in the L was was really cool.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Loop in the L.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Well, and you know certainly made my Schlemiel excited.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: You know, never never had a relationship with her, but I I did date Betty Rubble once back in the back when I went back in time.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: But uh but listen, you're she was a stoner.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: She she was big stoner, yeah.
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: You know, we are about to get kicked out of eccentric Ladyland Studios here, but uh Barry, thanks so much for coming back in time.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: And hey, I'll see you later, a lot later.
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: And I'll see you before, and I'll see you before.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: Thanks, Barry.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: The thing I said to you earlier, yeah, forget about it.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Don't worry, don't worry.
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: I didn't mean it.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, anyway.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: So, but we'll be back next time, Jeff, with another exciting guest.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: Sounds great.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Can't wait.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Barry.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: Uh thank thank you guys, and uh, don't worry, it's all gonna work out, Jeff.
